In short
The Horaki Big Show “OUTRO: Overstimulated” is a comedic wrap-up about people making annoying noises, workplace banter, grooming (beards/moustaches), and a serious-ish discussion of sleep paralysis “sleep demons” and hallucination patterns.
Guests/backgrounds
No distinct guests are introduced; it’s a studio panel of hosts (Keezy, Jase, Jade, Eddie Joe, and “Puck” mentioned as part of the show).
Key claims
Overstimulation from others yelling/singing; sleep paralysis is linked to lack of sleep from heavy partying; people may experience similar “shadow goblin” imagery; hallucinogenics (DMT/ayahuasca) can produce comparable experiences.
Notable examples
Toddy’s “four-stroke drum roll” and logistics song; “shadow goblin” crouched on the chest; coping by flexing a pinky finger or neck; listeners invited to email sleep-paralysis stories.

0:16Keyzie:G'day, fellas. Ha ha. Ha ha. Ha ha. I'm being, um. Ha ha. Ha ha. Jade. Ha ha. Ha ha. Ha ha. Seems, um. Eddie, Joe's got a new shirt on. No, this is not new. Oh, check boy. It's a weird thing this afternoon. So many people just into making really annoying noises. Mostly you. No, not me.
0:42Mike Minogue:That one you just made just there, that's the most annoying I've heard.
0:46Keyzie:People yelling and singing, and it's just like, would everyone shut the fuck up?
0:51Mike Minogue:Are you suggesting everyone's yelling and singing, or was it just Todd? Yes, it was some people. Because he was singing quite a lot. It was really good. there was a great little bit there where he did a, this is our boss, Toddy, Mad Dog, and he did a little bit where he did a four-stroke drum roll. Yeah, with his hand. So he does air drums, and then a three-strum guitar. That is. Did he make the noise? No, he didn't do that. I did it in my head, watching him. He's really random like that. He'll just randomly do like a drum solo. Yeah. And then he wanted to talk logistics with us and then sang a song about logistics, and Jase looked like he wanted to shoot himself.
1:28Mike Minogue:Yeah, he did. That was funny, though. I like that. That's why, honestly, I think there is something in the idea of you guys doing a road movie together. Yeah, can you imagine? A documentary together. Oh, lordy. Where one of you has to be the navigator. That's the good bit. Like, one of you has to tell the other one, like, driving around, which way you're going. And it doesn't matter who's doing that. And it's a map. There's no Google. In a stressful situation. In a stressful situation. Not you guys doing the Amazing Race. In downtown, like Bangkok or something. Or Auckland or an empty field. Or, yeah, it'd still be stressful.
2:01Keyzie:Sounds awesome, fellas.
2:03Mike Minogue:Sounds real good. It'll be good. You look really smart today, by the way. I do. I'm big. Thanks. No, you do. You dress. Sometimes you dress. Oh, God. This is going to be a long show. Sometimes you dress like my pop used to dress. Oh, good. No, I mean this. I absolutely. Mike. Yeah. All G. Just a little bit of a runny honk that you feel. There's nothing to worry about. I love my pop, but he used to wear a shirt like that with a sweater on top of it. And I saw Jason, I was like, ah, there's a bloody pop over there.
2:36Keyzie:Yeah, man. Well, I only put the jersey on because it got a bit chilly today. It was cold, actually. It was pissing with rain. What the fuck's going on here? But anyway, can I get back to the point that I was trying to say? I wasn't listening to a word of it. I know you weren't. Literally, you've had all the money to do it. You guys were just making stupid fucking noises. No, we weren't. Oh, God. Look, even Puck's arms over it. He's like, would you guys shut the fuck up? All right, Pop. Tell us the story, Pop. Look at him, he's frothing it.
3:07Mike Minogue:The Horaki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Horaki. The Horaki Big Show podcast. I'm being thrown by Keezy's facial hair.
3:21Keyzie:He's always smooth. He might have a day's growth. On a Monday when I'm hungover? Yeah, like on a Monday. And he's growing it. It's quite dense at the moment. What do you think? It's not a beard. It's just. Do you think it looks all right? It's throwing me off. Wow, Keezy. It looks great, man. Do you think it looks all right? It's all right. It's just fine, right? It's just because I got my hair cut shorter. You just want years to it, you know what I mean? It's just very dark.
3:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, because I got black hair. Yeah. But because I had my hair cut shorter yesterday, I went to shave today, and I was like, maybe I'll just go for the short hair and stubble look. Yeah, bro. Nice. Yeah. Thanks. You're a sicko. Quite a thick beard you're on there, Keezy? Nah. Is it not? It looks like it would be. Really? I've never grown one. Have you not? His wife won't let him grow a beard. You've got one or two little baldy patches, but other than that, it looks very thick. Yeah. Maybe I could grow a thick beard. I probably look like Minaya.
4:08Keyzie:Well, no, because your wife said you can't. Remember? You were going to grow one, and she said, no, you cannot grow a beard. She's bad me. Earlier this year, I believe I talked about that. Was that for something we were doing? No, he was just considering it and she vetoed it. Whereas I look awesome with a beard. I think you need to know what you look like with a beard, Kesey. I know. At your age. 100%. Yeah. Oh, well, see if you can get it for Christmas off the missus. See if she'll let you. Grow a beard. Yeah. To be fair, she said no to the moustache as well. Yeah. And now she's loving it.
4:36Mike Minogue:Does she? I think you should grow it. Definitely a beard. Why you got a smirk on your face there, James? Because he's a sicko. Yeah. Yeah. What about my missus loving my moustache could possibly be funny? Well, look, it conjures all sorts of images, Keezy, let's be honest. I want to go into it, man. Come on, man. Come on, guys. It's disgusting. I thought you got it, Keezy. I thought you understood, man.
4:56Keyzie:What's disgusting about it? What? Your moustache and your missus. Nothing? Okay, good. It's good stuff, fellas. I wasn't going in any weird sexual divisions in my head at all.
5:13Mike Minogue:I know when you are being filthy because you have a grin, a closed lip smile. And his squinty eyes. And his eyes are squinting as well. So you've got three smiles on your face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're kind of doing it now. No, no, now he's thinking about something else. And it's like, oh, yeah, Hoody J's all barred up. No, Hoody J's.
5:35Mike Minogue:That was an off-air joke. Jeez.
5:39Keyzie:No, no, if I've got filth, I'll just have it out. I'll just say. You will? Yes. No, you won't. You're not afraid of it. You'll miss it in your endo. I won't do it on the radio, obviously. No. But I can do filth in the podcast because that's where you get away with a bit of filth. You know what I'm saying? In your endo. But I don't have any filth on my mind at the moment, so I don't need to go there. Do you guys ever think about filth at work? No. Only when he's looking out the window. Oh, yeah, obviously. When I am. Yeah. It reminds me what a filthy bastard he is. Well, it's kind of hard for me not to look out a window because there's a window right in front of my eyes.
6:14Keyzie:Oh, I know, I know. Unless I turn, oh, you see, even if I turn sideways, I'm looking out a window.
6:19Mike Minogue:The problem with you looking out that window is you treat it like a window on your computer that's in incognito mode. Yeah, you do. It's like you're looking out that window. Yeah. Right. But it's not that window. But it's not that window at all. It's just a regular window.
6:32Keyzie:I've never had my computer or phone in incognito mode. Again, if I'm doing filth, everyone can see it. I'm very upfront about it. Listen to this bullshit.
6:46Keyzie:God, I could almost do another coffee. Oh, I've got one here. Yeah, I brought one in. I tried to have a nap today, fellas. Another shitter of a sleep. And no good, man. I was doing that thing where I convulse awake, you know. I did that about three or four times. Too much on.
7:04Mike Minogue:Because I remember you had that when you were stressed one time. Gasping up. I have got a lot on it. Because you're a studio switch and stuff. Yeah, I got the move this Friday. I've got a lot on my mind, man. Yeah. So it's fucking annoying. Are me and Jase on your mind sometimes? Nah. Well, yeah, you are actually, but in a good way. Yeah. Now you think about us, you go, I've got some things going through my mind at the moment, fellas, but you know all about that. Yeah. Yeah.
7:25Keyzie:I, Mogi, last week had a shocker of one of those, and I honestly thought I was going to die. Yeah. I was like, I couldn't get out of it. Oh, yeah, right. You're freezing up. I was fucking locked in this thing and sitting upright in my bed to the point where my wife was like, fuck, are you okay? Like I was like that.
7:44Mike Minogue:Yeah.
7:45Keyzie:What's that about?
7:46Mike Minogue:I've never had that ever. There's nothing wrong with you. It's horrendous. I've never had that. I've never had sleep paralysis. I've never had terrors. I've never had that. I used to get it really bad in my 20s, sleep paralysis. Right. Have you talked about that? No, I don't think so. I used to do a lot of drugs, Keezy, and I don't recommend it, man. But in my 20s, I did. Fun, though. Well, I used to do a lot of – I used to party a lot, which meant there wasn't a lot of sleep. So I was always going out to gigs and raves and all sorts of stuff, particularly over in Australia. Like Pugs does now.
8:14Just absolutely ripping it up. Yeah, ripping ass. And you get very little sleep. So you get home on a Sunday night or a Sunday afternoon and go to sleep and that was when the sleep demon would get you. Yeah. And I looked it up. I didn't know what it was. And eventually the internet caught up and apparently it was a lack of sleep. So I was like, oh, thank God.
8:35Mike Minogue:So that's what causes the sleep demon? In my case, yes. Yeah. And I actually had it a couple of times where you're awake, but your entire body is frozen for a couple of minutes. Yes. And for me, I just had to concentrate on bending my pinky finger. Oh, I think you have talked about this. And then as soon as I could do the pinky finger, I could hear my flatmate out in the rest of the house and all that sort of stuff. So I was awake. Right. But there'd also be a shadow goblin crouched on my chest. shitting in your mouth. Strangling me. Yes. Goblin. Yeah, Goblin D's nuts. So I had to flex my neck to break his grip so that he couldn't strangle me.
9:16And then if I managed to do that, then that would make me a kiss. Do you remember what the goblin looked like, the goblin? It was a shadow. Right, so it was just a black sort of... Black shape. And that is... Everybody gets that. That exact goblin. That is a commonality for that. And so it's pretty interesting because you also get the same thing with ayahuasca and DMT and all these sort of super, super, what do you call those drugs? Hallucinogenics? Hallucinogenics, the really full-on ones, where people have the same experiences and they see the same things. Oh, wow. So, yeah, think about it. Well, as a guy who's never touched any drugs, that is just so interesting to me.
9:52Isn't that interesting to you? And that's just all out of having a dance and a party. Look, nobody was injured. Everybody was having a great time, and I worked about 80 hours a week. And on a Sunday you got choked out by a goblin. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I work my way towards getting choked out by a goblin. A lot of people will pay a lot of money for that.
10:09Keyzie:It's interesting because it gets in the jaw and the neck. Yes, it does. I've never seen a goblin, but that's where I get it. I'm like that. You should look it up, actually. Actually, anybody out there, if you've got any sleep demon yarns, hit us with them because I know they can sort of vary in terms of how full on they are. Meetpattynip69. At gmail.com. Yeah, flick them through. Get in touch. Get some bloody horrific stuff. And let us know if that might be solving something for you. If you're wondering why you had them, were you on a bender for three days?
10:37Mike Minogue:Yeah, were you a sicko? Hey, listen to the big show, 4 to 7 weekdays. That's 26 years ago, 25 years ago. Fucking hell. Jase, you would have been 13. I know, just a bub. Just a little fella there. Just a little fella there.
10:48Keyzie:Just a little shadow goblin. Might have been me sitting on your face. It wasn't sitting on his face. I was sitting on his face, Keezy.
