In short
The Hauraki Big Show outro episode is a comedic “pronunciation guide,” where the hosts riff on words they mispronounce and how to say them correctly. They also do quick banter about football/World Cup stings, networking at TVNZ, and a spooky “pugs downstairs” story.
Guest backgrounds
No guests appear; the episode features the regular hosts (Backbone, Jase, Keezy, and Moe/Moggi) plus mentions of Bree, Clint, Matt Gibb (Squirt TV), and a computer-animated penguin host.
Key claims

Notable examples

0:15Keyzie:Oh, g'day fellas. I nearly forgot then. Backbone. Hello. Good stuff.
0:20Mike Minogue:How are you guys feeling today, man? Much better, thanks.
0:23Keyzie:Pretty good. I was telling Keyzie, I'll maybe talk about it on the show. I'm still traumatised by something I saw today, and it freaked me out. And it was just like, oh! You know when you have a bad dream and you wake up and it sticks with you? Yes. This particular incident has stuck with me because it was just, it was too spooky, too scary.
0:43Mike Minogue:He saw Pugs' downstairs. Well, I was thinking diddles. And he didn't see it coming. If you know what I'm saying. If you know what I mean. But it's really, it's left you shaken, hasn't it? Shaken and covered in jizz. I mean I've heard
0:59Keyzie:I've heard the rumours Yeah And the reality is I've never actually seen it In reality And nothing could prepare you Can I say that?
1:09Mike Minogue:Well it doesn't matter how many times Nothing can prepare you Someone says Oh you've got to check this out You've got to go do this You've got to You know But until you see it Yes Until you come face to face With it Seems believing eh Yeah Fellas Unbelievable Have you noticed Mogi's got his business clothes on today? Yes, I have. He's got a new shirt. I'm a businessman. What have you been doing, man? His cool fuck podcast T-shirt. Frank podcast. Oh, Frank. Oh. He's got an extra asterisk in there.
1:37Keyzie:Oh, yeah, I didn't see that, bud. It's a little marketing trick we got there. Nice spotting. Went to the TVNZ, did a thing today for the first game of Foosball.
1:45Mike Minogue:Oh, football, yeah, right. Football at Eden Park there. So I went along to that. Oh, I was invited to that. And it was good. It's good. Good game. Jeez, it was all go, fellas.
1:55Keyzie:Yeah, it was a good game. Well, I actually, I knew that we were playing Iran and I knew it was today sometime. I had no idea when. Yeah. So I came in. It was the last five minutes that I saw. It looked like a goodie.
2:07Mike Minogue:It was a goodie. We need to make a Football World Cup sting. Oh, yeah. Like, what's in the Football World Cup? You know what I mean? Something, yeah. This goes on for a while. It goes on for a month. I imagine football would be what's. No, no, no. Obviously, Jase. Come on, man. But I was thinking we could just voice it on here.
2:25Keyzie:Soccer, soccer, soccer.
2:26Mike Minogue:We'll voice it on here and then Pugs can turn it into a sting. Header, header.
2:30Keyzie:Okay, so that's a great idea, Keezy.
2:32Mike Minogue:That's good, man. I was thinking you could voice it maybe, Jase, because you're very official, you know what I mean?
2:36Keyzie:Yeah. Well, I've got gravitas, I think is what you're trying to say.
2:40Mike Minogue:Totally, that's the word I was trying to think of. Whereas if it's just like, oh, what's on the football with me? Keezy. The unofficial or is it the official? The official FIFA endorsed. Yes. Let's get some lawsuits going around this, mother. Fucker. Hell yeah. And you and me, Casey, we're double denims. A couple of denim cowboys, man. Good stuff. A couple of sickos. You got your Tony jacket on? I put my Tony jacket on and I already had my Tony pants on and I said to my wife this morning, does this look weird? Is this too much Tony? Yeah. And she said, you can't get too much Tony, baby. Well, no, she said you can never have too much Tony.
3:12Mike Minogue:Yes, yes, yes.
3:13Keyzie:Sorry. Is that, I always sort of consider double denim, now that I think about it, it's a weird thing, that like a denim jacket and a denim shirt rather than if you've got... But does that include pants? Pants, yeah. Right, okay.
3:29Mike Minogue:I think it just includes whatever you want it to include. Yeah, two lots of denim. Just double the denim. I used to do triple denim. Did you?
3:35Keyzie:Waist coat. Denim jacket, denim shirt, and denim hat. Denim necker. Actually, I used to do quadruple denim. Denim hat, shirt, jacket, and pants. Actually, I used to do quintuple denim. Quintuple denim. I used to have denim undies. Yeah, right. That doesn't work because it's not the double D, though. Why? Because you've got to go double denim. That's why double denim works, because it's DD. So five Ds doesn't work? Five Ds. Can do. Bet you'd make it work, you sicko.
4:06Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Jase, do you reckon you could quickly voice the intro, just quickly, for the football chat? Footy chat.
4:20Keyzie:With me.
4:21Mike Minogue:Hoity J. No, like official football World Cup update on the big show or something like that, you know. World Cup update of the footy on the big show. Free kick. Offside. Official World Cup update. Official big show World Cup update.
4:46Keyzie:You see, no one's going to take that seriously. What do you mean?
4:49Mike Minogue:At least I'm trying. I was trying, man. What are you saying? Moe, maybe you could do one in your deep Big Ben pies. Big Ben. Yeah, okay, let's move on. Good stuff, fellas. Good stuff. Yeah, good stuff. Thanks, man. Did you do some networking today, man? I had a few yarns. I'll tell you who was there. It was Bree and Clint. Oh, yeah? Bree and Clint. They told me that old Pugson had been talking to them yesterday and sharing all sorts of industry secrets about our show with them. Really? So I had to talk to them about that. Yes. Shocking bastard. Matt Gibb was there. Oh, yes. Yes. Nice fella. He is a nice fella.
5:24A few other people there. He's from Squirt. He is. Squirt TV. Yeah. With me.
5:29Mike Minogue:Teasy. No. I was never on Squirt. I've never even heard of Squirt. What is it? It's a children's television show. And it was hosted by a little computer animated penguin. Penguin. Penguin. Little penguin. You know, penguin. You say Benedict Cumberbatch style. Penguin. Penguin. Penguin, yeah. You can say it, you don't. What is it? Penguin. Penguin.
5:54Keyzie:I'll tell you what my wife was having me up about today. Nuclear. What do you say? Nuclear. Nuclear. Nuclear. How are you supposed to say that? Nuclear bomb. And she was like, is that how you say it? Isn't it nuclear? Oh, you say nuclear. Yeah, and she was like, is that how you say it? Nuclear. What is it?
6:14Mike Minogue:Nuclear.
6:15Keyzie:Nuclear. Nuclear.
6:17Mike Minogue:LMNOP? Pardon? LMNOP. Yes, it's the alphabet. No, say it. Come on.
6:23Keyzie:Yes.
6:26Keyzie:It's funny, though. It's funny how some words trip you up, though. Trip you up? Yeah. There was another one back in the day that I used to hate. Hospital. Anything Māori. Hostible. Hostible. And arcs. That's a goodie. And bait. People love an eight and arcs. So my team, bait your team. My mum. No, the one that... Bait, yes. The one that I don't do, which really irks me when people do, is performers. Oh, performers. Yeah, P-R-E. I've never heard that. It's amazingly frequent, that particular. Amazingly frequent? Yes. Have you ever seen it, Moggy? Never. Have you never heard someone say? I hear so many people talk all the time and I've never heard it.
7:08Keyzie:About performers.
7:09Mike Minogue:And it's amazingly. Specific was always a tough one when I was a little kid. Which one? Specific. Specific. Specific. Which one? I thought it was a joke. Nah. Which one are you talking about? Could you be more specific? Hey. Hey. Did you not struggle with specific? No. No. I didn't get it. I was like, what are they doing putting an S and a P, you know what I mean? And then a C. It's like, what the fuck's this about? Chicago was my hard one. Chicago. Because it was a band in the very early 80s. Yes. But I heard of the band before I heard of the city, so I'd never heard it before. So you just saw it.
7:40So it was Chicago. Chicago. Well, hey. Chicago. But even when I got told it was Chicago, I still couldn't connect the dots.
7:48Keyzie:I told you, I've said this story many times, about my girlfriend whose favourite perfume was an A &A. It's called an A &A. That's right, yeah. A-N-A-I-S? A-N-A-S. Yeah. And I didn't know how it was pronounced, and I went into the pharmacist and asked if they had anus anus. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. You can ask Johnny Brough that. And also, you know, I used to think lingerie was lingerie.
8:17Mike Minogue:Lingerie. I call it lingerie. Pugs has got one here I think he's He's giving me the Hey cut to me Hey can we make this about me What is it Pugs I pronounce The word nearby N-E-A-R-B-Y As nerby Until I was about 17 Nerby What a fucking idiot What a fucking What a fucking Marnus Wave to Boggs E-CEO Wave Wave back bone

8:41Mike Minogue:You did good man One that's tough What about Yeah go on When I was getting into Broadcasting school They used to do this test where they'd show you words written down, and one of the words was E-P-I-T-O-M-E. Yeah, it's a toughie. And I was like, epitome? Yep. No, it's epitome.
8:58Keyzie:Fuck, come on, epitome.
9:00Mike Minogue:I had no idea.
9:01Keyzie:I had a mate that used to always say debris. Debris. Instead of debris.
9:08Mike Minogue:Debris. You know what I to this day still struggle with is when you're referring to Len Brown. He is - Oh, you mean his mistress. Her name was hard to pronounce. So Wayne Brown. Wayne Brown. What was her name? Schwung. Schwung. Bevan. Schwung. But Wayne Brown is the current. Bevan's a strange name for a mistress. It is. Bevan. More of like a dude that you're banging on the side. But a mistress? A lot more rare. Bevan. Have you ever heard of that before, Jase? No. Have you ever heard of someone banging someone on the side called Bevan? No. It's amazingly frequent. Incredibly frequent. Could you get to your point?
9:45Mike Minogue:Please, Keezy. I'm running out of patience. How do you say the title that Wayne Brown currently holds? Meryl. Mayor. Mayor? Oh, yes, mayor. I always say mayor. What the fuck's mural? The mural? Mural? Mural. Yeah, mural candidate. The candidate, yeah. Is he the mayor? Yeah, he's the mayor. I always say the mayor. The mayor of Auckland. Oh, do you? But I'll tell you what else. You also say it's been. Been. I've been to, yeah, I know. I don't even say been. 100%. You knew a bit of a deer brain, Keezy. Okay, Jase.
10:22So stoked with that as well. You can go home now, Jase.
10:26Keyzie:Oh, I'm done for the day, fellas. I've peaked.
10:29Mike Minogue:I've peaked at the end of the potty. Can you clip that really funny thing, Jase, about Keezy being a deer brain? That's good stuff. I feel like that's 70 % of our show, to be fair. Listen to the big show, 4 to 7 weekdays, Radio Hodaki. Bye. Bye.
