In short
The hosts riff on food preferences (especially sauce on pies), being sick (fever/chills/cough), and travel/tourist culture. They also joke about “shooting p*** in a barrel” and airport drinking timing, plus family updates (wife’s Dubai/Europe trip, daughter starting tertiary course).
Guests
No guests are interviewed; it’s a banter-heavy outro with the regular hosts (Jase and Kesey mentioned).

Transcript

0:01Mike Minogue:Can you not talk with your mouth full on the potty, man? It's disgusting, man. It is disgusting. Did you find your sauce, mate? I did. Good on you, man. For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggy. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horeke.
0:24Keyzie:Yeah, man. Hi, boy. I had to finish my mouthful before I started talking. And I've got crumbs stuck in my throat as I speak. Jase has just eaten a venison pie with tomato sauce, which I think is a travesty.
0:37Mike Minogue:It's a fucking travesty. Do you really? I do.
0:39Keyzie:Any sauce that I have, it doesn't matter what it is, I'll have any pie. No, any pie that you have. I'll have sauce on it. Yeah.
0:45Mike Minogue:That seems crazy. Because I love sauce. I'm a sauce boy. Yes. But I only put sauce on a pie if it's bland. Right. Yeah. I don't think every pie suits sauce. I very rarely use tomato. Mints and cheese? Very rarely. Or a steak? Yes. It's too much effort, actually. Even a fish pie, I have sauce. Yeah. What kind of sauce? Tamati? Yeah, tamati sauce. What? With my white sauce. So you're having sauce with your pastry. You're not having it with the contents of the pie. The contents of the pie are irrelevant. I guess so.
1:16Keyzie:I guess so. But it doesn't seem that crazy to me to have sauce with a venison pie. Okay, let's do a big bowl. I'm not a big bowl. Okay.
1:24Mike Minogue:A podcast big poll. I'm not convinced about venison, to be honest.
1:29Keyzie:Oh, yeah? I've never been a big fan of it. Love it. Absolutely love it.
1:33Mike Minogue:It's no yummer than beef to me. Well, I've had. I can't just see the difference. I never used to really eat it. Well, I find it's much higher in protein, and it's cheaper. Right. So, you know, it's a goer.
1:44Keyzie:Oh, wow. I remember our mechanic, who was a hunter, gave us some venison. Was he not a mechanic, your mechanic? He's retired now. So now he's a hunter. Well, I think mostly he hunts, but that was pretty good. Yeah. But that was deeply marinated in all sorts of juices, so.
2:01Mike Minogue:You were a hunter back in the day, eh? I would actually like. You were hunting that ass. Poon hunter used to. They used to call you ass boy. They used to call you ass man.
2:11Keyzie:No, what did we call it the other day? I'm not eating ass.
2:17Mike Minogue:I don't know what you're talking about, man.
2:19Keyzie:There was some kind of ass reference. Was there? Yes.
2:23Mike Minogue:Eden Ass. King of the Ass. That doesn't sound like something we'd say on this podcast. No. I can't remember specifically what it was. Was that the mechanic that fucked your car up? No. Okay, fuck that guy.
2:34Keyzie:I don't talk about him. He's still there. But I don't go to him anymore. Oh, that was true. Don't give me a man. Just went, no, I drew the line when he damaged my car and then, you know. Why don't you deny him? I didn't want to give you the money back and you just paid him. Well, and then denied it. I drew the line. Then denied it. What? You showed him, did you? But he did pay for the stuff that needed fixing on my car, apart from that part that needed fixing. He did pay for all that. He didn't charge me for it. You've got a platform here.
2:59Mike Minogue:Why don't you just say the name of the mechanics? No, I'm not going to do that, Kesey. What area of Auckland? Because that's not the sort of person I am.
3:05Keyzie:I'd feel terrible.
3:06Mike Minogue:But he doesn't feel terrible.
3:08Keyzie:Well, I think he did actually feel terrible. Because in the end he said this was, you know, because he had to do all these repairs on the car because I was going in for a warrant. He said, I won't charge you for any of that. and he did a full service. Right. So I went, okay, probably not the equivalent of what it would have cost to get it fixed up. Yeah. But I just went, I can't be bothered.
3:30Mike Minogue:I get it. And sometimes you just have to be like that. But I will say that your car, things that needed repairing for a warrant would have been zero.
3:37Keyzie:Yeah, there were a few little things.
3:39Mike Minogue:Like what?
3:39Keyzie:I can't even remember what they were. No, your car's immaculate, man. Sweet as. But yeah. What was wrong with you, Jizz Boy? I don't know, Muggie. some sort of cold. Yeah, there we go. Snot. Yeah, that sounds like a cold. Phlegm. I don't know. You're like, what is this thing? Coughing snot. Well, I mean, there's lots of influenza going around. I mean, I don't need an exact code name. Yeah, well, that's what I mean. I can't give you, it wasn't COVID. But I was also very, I couldn't get my temperature right, so I'd be really hot and sweaty. Fever. And then freezing cold. Fever, yeah. The chills.
4:16Keyzie:Yes. So it wasn't pleasant. No. You got over it pretty quick because you're a backbone. You don't look 100%, to be honest. No, I'm still not 100%. I reckon my voice will crap out about halfway through.
4:26Mike Minogue:I reckon if you just take it chill. Actually, because you have a habit of whenever your voice isn't 100%, you'll start more and you'll start the show with a,
4:34Keyzie:get out of here, tell me. I'll tell you why it is, though, because I don't talk much during the weekend. Yeah, right. And in the last four days, I haven't talked very much. So what I find is when I come back on the radio and I haven't talked for a while, my voice fucks out.
4:51Mike Minogue:Yeah.
4:52Keyzie:But I'm happy for you fellas to do all the talking.
4:55Mike Minogue:Well, it's just par for the course, isn't it? Yeah. What? Yeah, I'm happy with that, man. Yeah, cool. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Sagan on. Okay, you start. Eh? You start. No. Doing all the talking. Oh, I see, I see. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, my wife's left me. You won't know that. Yes, I do know that. Oh, you've been listening to the show. Did she get away okay? She did get away okay, yes. Is she having a ball?
5:31She slept for eight hours on the plane. Wow. Over to Dubai. That is amazing. I am so jealous of her. Because being on a plane for, you know, that first week, which is 16, 17 hours, is it? Something ridiculous. That sucks. but not as much as working and having a kid. So she's little, so she can just go to sleep and she just passed out bliss because she's been so exhausted from all the work. So she did that and then she had to walk 4K at the terminal in Dubai to the next gate. Did she miss a bus or something? 4K, no, it's just inside. That's how big the terminal is. You walk for 4K. That's pretty cool.
6:10And then she went to Bufalona, Nah, got the bus in and then got to her place. And she got there and she said it looked a little bit shady, her com. I was like, what made it shady? She goes, ah, there's a guy outside sort of leaning on the curb smoking a cigarette. I was like, yeah, that sounds like a... I said, was he punching his fist? Punching the palm of his hands? That's how you know he's a bad guy. And then she went in there. Beautiful. She's shown me all the videos she's had me on in the old FaceChat there. Walked in, checked in. five backbones in their mid-20s from New Zealand checking into the same hotel.
6:46Really? Five dudes.
6:48Mike Minogue:You're joking? No. Fucking hell. She said she's heard practically no Spanish since she got there. It's just all Americans and English. I hated that. In Rome, it was like that. Yes. Which is why I hated the Coliseum because I was like, you're in this thing I've always wanted to go see, and all I could hear was Americans talking loudly and being idiots. Yes. And for some reason, I feel like I'm a better tourist than they are. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm like, this is a cheesy tourist. Oh, I'm sorry about these tourists. Yeah, man. To the Spanish people. I'm sorry. Oh, yeah. Or Italian in this case.
7:17Mike Minogue:But at least I'm like, oh, hey, I'm from New Zealand. We get tourists as well. We get it.
7:20Keyzie:Yeah, we get it. I don't know if you guys know this. I went to Vietnam at the beginning of the year. Yeah, yeah. On a sex tour. Yeah, with my family. With all my girls. Didn't you say you were dusting off your old hunting gear?
7:35Mike Minogue:Your old poon hunting gear?
7:37Keyzie:A lot of Americans there too. That was like shooting poon in a barrel. It's actually really buggingly that I can't remember what this arse-eating thing was. It wasn't arse-eating. It was Heidi J loves eating arse. No, it wasn't eating arse. It was something else. Sucking on a chilli dog. Not ripping arse? No, not ripping arse. But anyway. But my wife had that experience as well in Dubai because it's fucking massive. Yeah. Because she was flying to Europe. It would have been the same airport. Yes, and they had to walk for kilometres and kilometres to get to where they were going, which seems a bit extreme.
8:10Mike Minogue:At least you're somewhere you've never been and everything's really like... Well, it's the gateway to Europe, so it's going to be a big bastard.

8:17Keyzie:But the only thing for them was it was like 2 o 'clock in the morning. Yeah. So everything was close. And so there were a few things open, but not really. Oh, yeah. So they mostly just slept on uncomfortable chairs. Looking forward to it.
8:29Mike Minogue:When I went to... Last time I went through to Europe, we went via Shanghai because it was the cheapest flights we could get. Yes. And it was like, yeah, it was 4.30 when we landed. and I was like starving and thirsty. And at like 5.30 a.m., the stall opened and it was a craft beer stall. And I was like, oh, I want to have a craft beer while I'm in China. That's pretty awesome. And so many people were giving me the weirdest looks. Oh, were they? Because it was 5.30 a.m. But there is no time in an airport. No, totally. It's all good. You mind your business in an airport.
8:58Keyzie:Whereas in New Zealand, we don't give a fuck. Nah. Well, you still do. I do see it. But then I'm like, oh, well, yeah, I don't know what time table you're on. If I see someone punching wines at nine. Well, they get on the bubbles, though. That's a trick. Yeah. That's a trick. They go, oh, it's celebration. It's a breakfast drink, apparently. And celebration. Yeah, and I'm all for it. What's it called? Mimosa. Mimosa, yeah. Is it a bit of orange juice? Mimosa holds the orange juice, yeah. Ah, see. Yeah. But my wife there, so she's doing this art course. It starts tomorrow. 10, do three hours. Then I've got a break for an hour, and then I think it goes till 5.
9:30But she was trying to have a moe last night at about 9.30, and she said that the city was just starting. Oh, yes, because they have dinner at nine. So she came outside fireworks. It's still broad daylight. Bang, bang, bang, bang. And so it's just expected that you will be up till midnight and that's why the school starts at 10 and not at 7 or 8. So she's just trying to get used to that time. The problem that she's had is there's some people in the room next door to her that kept her awake all night the first night. Making love? About five o 'clock. No, just yabbering and stumbling around and falling into the wall and all sorts of shit.
10:07And I just said, oh, they'll just be. She goes, they go and they come back. They go and they come back. I said, they'll be going to a bar and then they'll be coming back and racking up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go back to another bar. And then last night it happened again. And so she. Bought air plugs. No, she's already got those. Oh, it didn't work. So loud. Wow. So loud. And then so she ended up going and banging on the door. Yeah, right. And joining the party. Yeah, baby.
10:30Keyzie:Speaking of courses, my youngest started her new course today, her tertiary course proper, and I said, did you meet some nice people? And she said, oh, one guy said he liked my top, and I said, oh, yeah, but did you have some nice chats with people? And she said, no, I just keep my headphones on all day. And it's like, well, you know, you've got to actually make a bit of an effort if you're going to do that. Well, she's your daughter. But she was just – Right there. 100%. Massively dressed like a Westie, just black, everything. with massive sweatshirt, massive jeans. Jase literally came in. She didn't even have any music on.
11:04She's just got the headphones on to keep people away.
11:06Mike Minogue:Just the big show. Jase literally came in and said, I haven't talked to anyone for four days. Yeah. So another thing too is it'll be people of a similar interest.
11:15Keyzie:And you only answered half your texts as well. I know, because I was sleeping most of the time.
11:19Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, so when I texted and asked if it was a cold or a flu, 30 seconds after you replied to me, were you asleep? Yeah, and so when I texted you and I said...
11:27Keyzie:Is it a cough or something? Yeah, yeah, yeah, and you didn't bother answering me. You're asleep then. But it was one of, yeah, I would have nodded back to sleep, but here's the thing. You know what it's like, fellas, and people message you, and then you completely forget that they have.
11:41Mike Minogue:I don't do that. I reply straight away. Used to be, man. Yeah, but that's kind of dweebish.
11:47Keyzie:Keep wanting more. That's kind of needy. Hey. Knee deep and poon when you're on one of your tours. With the poon hunter.
11:54Mike Minogue:Hey, listen to the big show, 407, every weekday afternoon on Radio Hodaaki. It's really great.
