In short

The hosts riff on weekend relationship tensions, especially “silent treatment” and partner communication, plus minor domestic disputes (tea/milk temperature, vaping, light-switch habits) and self-improvement habits (avoiding sulking, resisting fat-shaming).

Guest backgrounds

No named guests; only the regular hosts are present (Keezy, Jase, Mogi).

Key claims

Silent treatment is a manipulative “sookie” tool; one host learned to avoid sulking from his mum, who also fat-shamed. Another claims his wife’s anger often explodes over small issues, suggesting bottled frustration.

Notable examples

boiling milk/tea too hot vs not hot enough; a two-day non-talking period; wife accusing vaping; wife hates the host turning off the bedroom light and approaching in darkness; “Bernie” nickname tied to coffee temperature.

0:00For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggy. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horaki. Doggy day fellas! Backbone! Hello. It says get up even closer on TikTok. Are we on TikTok? Radio Horaki is, yeah. Right, okay. Is it going great guns, man? Millions. People are loving it.

0:28Keyzie:Do you guys have it on your phone? TikTok. I've got it on there, but I never go on there. Same. I don't. You're the man. I'm such the man. Such the man. Such the man. Mogi, where's your black hoodie? My black hoodie. It's Black Hoodie Mundy. Oh, it's Black Hoodie Mundy. Yeah, I see that. Jase, you've got your Nike one back on. Good on you, brother. Yeah, well, it was just... The other one is merino, but it's a lot thinner. And it's just not quite warm enough. Yeah, right. This one's a bit warmer. and it really sucks onto my buzies. It does. You've got a nice couple of their tits. Yeah, I've got some good buzzy action going on, fellas.

1:05Keyzie:So good. Good weekend, man? I had a... It was kind of a weekend of two halves. Was it? For me. Yeah. Kind of good and kind of shit. Sounds pretty standy then. Yeah, kind of standy. What was the good bit? Just kidding. What was the shit bit? Oh, the shit bit was Friday night, which really got in my go. That'll be on the show, will it? Yes, it will. And it affected my Saturday morning. So then I was like. Oh, your food debacle.

1:34Mike Minogue:Oh, my God. Ruined the whole weekend.

1:37Keyzie:No, no. No, no. I'm very good at going, get over yourself and get on with it. Yeah, because it was nothing.

1:43Mike Minogue:It was nothing at the end of the day. Well, what about when your wife asked you to not boil her milk so much and then she admitted to us that you went weird for two days? You went weird for two days. That is bullshit. The trouble we've got is there is no history of your wife lying to us. No, ever. That's true. But on the other hand. Yeah. I can honestly say. I love Jase calling something else bullshit.

2:08Keyzie:I can honestly say that made me laugh too because it is utter bullshit. Okay. Two days not talking. I don't know. I don't think. Here's the thing. I bet if we got her in the room and asked her about it, things would get real uncomfortable real quick. Well, I can tell you that it would be a real blow up in our relationship for anything to last for two days. Yeah. Because I can't. I won't do it. I'll go, no, no. You'll just shut off. Even if I have to. Yeah, I just won't talk. Even if I have to cop it, I'll cop it. Walk around the house with your headphones on. And go, come on. Let's deal with this.

2:47Keyzie:Let's get it done. All right? Same here, man. Yeah. Because she's the unreasonable one, and you're just trying to sort it out. She can be unreasonable. Yeah.

2:55Mike Minogue:Well, yeah, look. I can't believe how dishonest she is. That's what I'm taking away from this. It's the line that I can't get around.

3:01Keyzie:Yeah, it's such a shame. She's quite humorous, my wife, and that was her humor coming through. Oh, was it?

3:06Mike Minogue:Because she knew you would love that. But also, the issue is that it came just after she said, you said, I asked you about not vaping, and then you said, yeah, good, and then she said, what? You're vaping. Boom, truth. Yeah, that's right. Followed by, oh, and by the way, after burning my milk. He's an abusive partner. Yeah.

3:25Keyzie:Can I just say that it was never burning her milk. It was just that she didn't like it that hot. I don't think that people care, man. They just see it as the same thing.

3:34Mike Minogue:My wife last night asked me to not make her tea so hot. How do you do that? Because she says, oh, and this is a sign that a woman is getting older. Sexist. Here we go. Here we go. This is good. I love this. Clip this off, pugs. All older women, whenever they have a tea or a coffee, it has to be really fucking hot. And if it's not, they are annoyed by it. Oh, this isn't even hot. Have you noticed that?

3:59Keyzie:No.

4:00Mike Minogue:I thought you just said you made it too hot. Yes. And so my wife said, oh, I've noticed something about me now. I have to have my tea really hot. And so I was like, oh, okay, I'll make it, and then I'll put it in the microwave for an extra 20 seconds. Started doing that. Oh, so she wants it hotter. Oh, now she doesn't want it as hot. And now she's like, hey, can you stop making it as hot? And I'm like, oh. Oh, and then I'm - Make it yourself.

4:19Keyzie:Are you in make it yourself territory? So that was the last time you spoke to her this weekend? So I'm on day one of a three-day silent treatment, which Jase advised - Just so she knows. Yeah, totally. She's got to learn, man, so you've got to shut up for a few days. Totally.

4:31Mike Minogue:Yeah, Jase was like, to be honest, Keezy, if that was me, I'd get with him about three days of just being a little bit weird and sulky. And then - Wait, what? I didn't hear you. The Hauraki B Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast

4:48Keyzie:I actually, the truth of it is I can't abide myself us sulking And yet No, I really can't I like the one good thing I will say about myself No, it's not the one thing It's one of a billion good things you'll say about yourself Is that I will not I don't I used to Don't get me wrong I used to be a real moody fucker But now I'm like No, no, get over it I learned that off my mum My mum was a real silent treatmenter Yes I got some good things as well, though. She can't abide fat people. She would always fat shame us. Not fat shame us, but fat shame us probably herself. Or just she didn't, I don't know.

5:27There's a bit of chatter around it. Anyway, to the point where I've got no space for it in my own life, so I stay healthy-ish, you know what I mean, outside of the smoke in the sickies. So that was a good thing. So your mum had a long-lasting effect on you? Oh, she has, which is good. You want that. And that's a positive one. But the thing that probably isn't good is the silent treatment thing, which is a cycle I'm trying to break. What about loud treatment?

5:51Keyzie:It is a very sort of manipulative tool. Well, it's just a sookie sort of a thing. That's what I mean. And that's when I say, yeah, I can't abide myself in that state. Oh, yeah, shocking. And it's just like, no, I'm not going to sulk. and so I will force myself out of the depths of despair and rage that I feel. You are a legend, Jase.

6:14Mike Minogue:You're a legend, man.

6:16Keyzie:And just get on with it. You know, as we say on the show, fellas. Have you got some kind of a national anthem sort of a song? No, I did that, fellas.

6:23Mike Minogue:You know, just get on with it. I've got this. 40 J, best in the world, A number one. That'll do. Does this work as sort of national anthem music?

6:35Keyzie:it's very important to acknowledge the things you do well in your life. Sure. 100%. Just interesting on the fat shaming thing, my wife's really harsh on that. If I body shame myself, she'll come down pretty hard on me. But look at you. What's happened though, you've blown out.

6:54Mike Minogue:Jase looks identical to when he started. I think we all kind of do.

6:58Keyzie:No, I look older, but I'm in better shape than when we started.

7:01Mike Minogue:Obviously, we all look older. We all look five years. But you look the same. Like, your silhouette.

7:06Keyzie:You know why it is, Keezy, is because you see me every day. And so when you see someone every day, you don't notice them changing. It's like when you grow old with your mates or with your partner, you don't really notice them changing.

7:17Mike Minogue:I've noticed my wife getting a lot older. She's older. She doesn't like hot water anymore. Yeah. No, it's the opposite. She really needs it to be hot. No, you said she doesn't. But then I was going too hot. She's like, who am I, frigging Hoardy J's wife? Can you tone it down a bit, please? Exactly.

7:32Keyzie:No, she doesn't like it too hot. My wife. So she's not like my wife.

7:36Mike Minogue:But you were obviously burning it, though. You were going too high. You were going too far.

7:39Keyzie:Again, I will clarify, I never burnt milk. But there's a certain temp my coffee has to be. I heard she started calling you Bernie.

7:51Mike Minogue:Oh, Bernie. Weekend at Bernie's. Yes. Far out. Weekend at Bernie's where he doesn't say anything. Bernie Sanders. That's a politician, eh? Don't get quiet on us now.

8:01Keyzie:Do you think that, I mean, in terms of your partners, do they get moody?

8:06Mike Minogue:Do they get silenty? I've noticed about my wife, she gets quite aggro. She'll have flashes of being like, oh. Yeah, well, that's what happens. Like the teeth comes out. That's pretty normal, yeah, because they're bottling everything up. Is that what it is? All their frustration and hatred for you. And then when it eventually comes out, it's usually at the most, well it's an explosion as opposed to a conversation and it's usually about something so pedestrian. The reaction to it is so big. You're like, well this can't. This is not about this, surely. It must be about my cheating. Yeah. Maybe.

8:44Keyzie:I think in terms of your wife though, Keezy, I think I'm like her pressure valve when she gives me a call and she can let all that shit out.

8:52Mike Minogue:That's good. That's good.

8:55Keyzie:You know, so I take one for the team in that regard. How long is this year? Three years too long.

9:02Mike Minogue:I reckon that's an entirety of the show length. So I appreciate that, Chase. I'll do that for you, man. But I do this for, there's this thing that really pisses my wife off, which is she'll be in bed and I'll be coming to bed and I'll turn the bedroom light off and then it's just pitch black in our room. Oh, yeah, yeah. And she's sitting in bed and she can't find the light switch on the wall next to her to turn the little reading light on. And I'm just standing quietly. and slowly making my way around to her side of the bed to like... She fucking hates it. Yeah, that's good. Stop it! Turn the line.

9:38That's good.

9:38Keyzie:Is that because of your weird, you don't like to be seen nude thing? No, no, no. Isn't it? Is it because of your brothel creepy?

9:49Mike Minogue:It's because Terry told me to do it. Ah, good times, fellas. Actually, we're going to get some CCA. Yeah, I'm pretty keen on some stuff.

9:57Keyzie:I'm not hungry now, but I know I will be. I was starving today and I just couldn't be fucked getting food. Oh, I found a great food discovery, Keezy. What nationality? Have you heard of Ree Burger? Korean, maybe? Yum. It's all the same to Hoity J. Oh, it's fucking the bomb. Right next to Eden Noodles, actually. Really? I found it. Yeah.

10:17Mike Minogue:All right. Hey. Listen to The Big Show, 4 to 7 weekdays, Radio Hodaki. Good eating.
