In short
A casual “Outro: Steamboat Pugs” wrap-up from The Hauraki Big Show, focused on studio banter, a sunny day, work gripes, and teasing Pugs’ new Steamboat Willie-style hat and upcoming video.
Guests
No external guests; the episode features the hosts/crew: Jose (in a “horror of a mood” due to being called into work early), Jase, Keezy, and Pugs (the cameraman/filmer).
Key claims
Pugs filmed during a boss meeting using a shoe camera and a camera under his hat; the video may be seen as disrespectful.
Notable examples
Jose’s walk to Tirurangi Village, psyllium husk for “binding” stools, Keezy’s shirt color change, and the hat debate (Steamboat Willie hat with no rim; “massive no”).

0:16Mike Minogue:Yeah. Yeah fellas. Here he is. You got your headphones on now Jase man? Yeah man. All good? Yeah, no it's good. Yeah, good as gold man. Yeah, thanks man. Thanks for asking. For those who want to know, today is, what is it, the 10th? Oh, no, it's the 8th of October, 2025. Jose's come in. He's in a horror of a mood.
0:31Keyzie:He is in a horror of a mood. What's wrong, man? Well, you know, I'm just sort of thinking to myself. I'm in a great mood, by the way. Yeah, sure. I know whenever you say you're in a great mood. My question is what we just did, couldn't we have done that at three? Oh, absolutely. Thank you. Yeah, right.
0:51Mike Minogue:Absolutely. Right, okay. But I'm not in a horror of a mood.
0:53Keyzie:I mean, how can you be in a bad mood on a day like this, fellas? I tell you how. You get called into work an hour early when you could have been spending this hour outside actually enjoying the sun. Yeah, totally. And that's why I fucking hate working here, man. Yeah. And I always have. Yeah. Fair enough too, man. Fair enough. But no, I had a lovely day. Went for my wife and I, we have our little walks that we do now. Yeah. Walked into Tirurangi Village. And then she wanted to get some step action in. so she went on a bit of a detour down the hill, which I wasn't very happy about. But then we came back up through the bush, had our coffee and a little chat, went to a little exhibition.
1:32Keyzie:Did you? Which I wasn't expecting. She bought some psyllium husk or something. Psyllium husk. You know what that's for? James, is that for you or for her? That's for her. Is that for like bowels? That's to bind your feces together. That's when you find that your stools are a little bit of a shambles. Yes. So your psyllium husk will just bind that all together, hopefully into just one massive turd.
1:56Mike Minogue:Yeah. Has your wife got the runs, man?
1:58Keyzie:Not that I'm aware of, but, you know. Well, not anymore because she's on the psyllium husk. She does a little porridge thing in the morning, right, and she chucks all sorts of stuff on top of it like turmeric. Chia seeds. Yeah, LSA. Those little bits of cheese, eh, in the plastic wrapping. And it just looks the most disgusting brew you'll ever see. Does she do the overnight oats? Sometimes, yeah. Yeah, they're good, eh? I like those, man. Well, I don't do any of the porridge oats sort of action.
2:25Mike Minogue:So while she's making overnight oats and puts it in the fridge overnight, do you just put like a vape in the fridge overnight and a black coffee? Good on you fellas.
2:32Keyzie:Why would I do that, man?
2:33Mike Minogue:I don't know, for fun. Just so people listening know that there is a film crew here just shooting us. If you guys are happy, are you guys all good? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Prebs isn't talking, so sweet as. And what's great is Keezy's come in wearing a shirt that it turns out he wasn't allowed to wear that colour of shirt, a black shirt with branding on it, so he's had to change into a comedy shirt. A Hawaiian shirt. I don't know if he has to have three of the buttons undone, but here we are.
2:58Keyzie:Well, and same. I turned up in the wrong colour as well, apparently. Did you turn up in green? Yeah, well, the first thing they said was, oh, no, not green. So the trick is what they do is they tell you you've got a photo shoot, but they don't tell you what you want to wear, and then you come in, they go, surprise, you're wearing the wrong thing.
3:13Mike Minogue:No, that's not what they do. The call sheet was sent to Todd, and he didn't send it on. Oh, and Kate. Yeah, but Kate was on holiday. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She's still on holiday, man. No, she's back now. No, she's back today. God, it's nice out there to have some energy, though. I'll say that. You like that, Chase? There's more strangers out there for you to chat to? Yeah, not really. Yeah, I like it. And for the listeners, too, our office used to be really hissing. It used to be humming. And there was all sorts of wacky shit going on, music playing, beers, heaps of lunchtime. Was that working at a radio station?
3:42Mike Minogue:Yeah, and now it's really not like that.
3:44Keyzie:Well, I would argue that, you know, turning up to work and it's really hesitant and people are drinking beers is not really a normal radio station.
3:52Mike Minogue:No, but it was this radio station.
3:53Keyzie:Yeah. Yeah, and a good place to work. People envied it. I think this is a great place to work. Do you? Yeah. Can you carry on like that then? I mean, I could foresee us, you know, like having to come in at one and have meetings and planning sessions and stuff. Yeah, 100%. But yeah, a lot of water going to the bridge before that ever happened. So a bit of gratitude, fellas, would be good, all right? Just be grateful for what you have. Stop your bitching and whining. There's such a weird energy in the studio right now. It is. Is it? Yes. Well, I just had a big coffee as well, but then we're also performing for those people with their cameras.
4:28Keyzie:Yeah, I always take a while to come down from performing, Keezy. Yeah. That guy got some really good shots.
4:34Mike Minogue:100%. And you know why? Isn't that amazing? Because he was just douche, douche, douche, douche, douche. Well, not because that's not why. At least because they still get them, but then they'll drag it on forever. but you saw just the raw images. Fucking great. I think part of that is because he's taking photos of every single announcer on every single radio station today. Oh, he knows what he's doing. There's no doubt about it. And we look cool.
4:53Keyzie:And if you fire off a thousand shots in a minute and a half or two minutes, you'll find one that's good.
4:58Mike Minogue:Hey, guys, just quickly, what do you think of Pugs' new hat? I don't know. I don't know. There he is there. Oh, that's a massive no from me. You know what that is? That's a Steamboat Willie hat. Yeah, it's like Mario hat, yeah.
5:10Keyzie:It doesn't annoy me as much as his little rimmed one.
5:14Mike Minogue:No, that's way stupider than that. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. He's taking receipts. He's looking at us through the window. Anyway, the longer the shorter it is, that hatch is a shocker. But I feel that way about most of his hatch. But that's the thing. I think he knows. And at least it doesn't have a cord in it. What's up with you and Cors? Yeah, I don't mind that. I mean, the rope I'm not a big fan of, but I sort of go, well, other than that, it looks like a normal hat. But having no rim on a hat sort of defeats the purpose in wearing a Steamboat Willie hat.
5:48Keyzie:I tell you what, fellas, that I found out from Pugs today, there was a bit of subterfuge in the meeting that we had with the boss yesterday. And I may or may not have been doing certain things to Pugs while the meeting was going on, and I had no idea that he was filming it. So there's the next big show video. Oh, good. What were you doing? I knew what I thought he was up to. It was a disgrace because he wasn't concentrating on what was going on. But it was sicko shit.
6:14Mike Minogue:Was it like when you were a kid and you were at class and your teacher was like, Jase is great, but he distracts everyone? Is that what you were doing? No, yes. Kind of like that. But with filth as well.
6:23Keyzie:Did you not see it? Nah. I was trying to distract Pug-san, and I did, but I didn't realise. He was very, I don't know, I genuinely didn't notice he was filming it.
6:34Mike Minogue:Well, he's got that camera that he's got on his shoe. Yeah, and he's got that massive camera underneath his hat. Yeah, maybe. He's got a whole film crew. Yeah, but I asked him about that, and he said it's because he's driving a steamboat home later and wants to film it.
6:52Keyzie:The only thing that worries me about him releasing this video is it may seem disrespectful to the boss who was taking the meeting. Well, one thing we know is he won't be listening to this. No. So we can make up something and just say we were doing it deliberately for the video, et cetera, et cetera. Well, I actually wasn't doing anything towards him. I was directing it at Pugsar and just trying to distract him. Just that you're doing it during a serious meeting. That's where people might take a little bit of offence. Yeah.
7:16Mike Minogue:Yeah. I spent a lot of that meeting with my head in my hands anyway, so I didn't actually notice what was going on. Yeah. You're in a horror of a mood. Where? At that meeting. Because he played the same bit of me talking twice, and I was like, yes, I fucking get it. Yeah. I suck at radio. Yeah. But we got to listen to a Chili Peppers song. That was cool. You don't suck, Keezy. Come on. Here we go. Second part of this sentence. Oh, look. No, that's where it ends, mate.
7:41Keyzie:You wouldn't go that far, would you, Jase? Absolutely not.
7:44Mike Minogue:Thanks, fellas.
7:46Keyzie:You are coming on leaps and bounds, man. Oh, really?
7:49Mike Minogue:And it's thanks to you guys and your tutelage. Oh, that's true. I'm very lucky. But what were you doing? Oh, you went for a walk, Jase.
7:56Keyzie:Yes. Oh, okay. I know it's just irrelevant, but fuck, it's amazing what a nice day will do to your head. You know what I mean? And the nice thing too, walking into it, you know, there's a lot of shrubbery and shit, and you just smell all the flowers. Yeah, yeah. And you just go, oh, you know what? It's all good. It's all G. Just relax, everyone. Yes. Just relax.
8:19Mike Minogue:Do you know what would really help your head is if we were playing golf today. Fuck yes. That would have been good. I need to lose some balls. I guess my question, really.
8:28Keyzie:Bec, we're in the middle of a bloody, we're recording. You can't just walk in, Bec, while we're doing a recording. Sorry, he's in a hur of a mood, Bec. It's nice to have a nice day, especially when it's been so shit for so long. Yes. You didn't get out for a game of golf today. What are you doing? Because the course is closed. They're coring. They're coring the greens for the week. Otherwise, I would have been out there with bells on. Why? Pardon? Why? Why what? Why would you be wearing bells? Just because I'd be so happy.
8:59Mike Minogue:So you put your little outfit with bells attached to it. You've got bells on your feet.
9:03Keyzie:You know where I am on the golf course because you're going to hear the little bells going on. Yeah. The jester slippers? Exactly. Just coming from the bushes, from the trees as you're searching for balls. It's actually on my sun hat that it's got little bells on it. Yeah, that's nice. Yeah. Good stuff, fellas. Thanks, man.
9:20Mike Minogue:I haven't had lunch. Oh, fuck.
9:23Keyzie:If you're going to bang on about how hungry, I'm so over you talking about how hungry you are. You and Pugs are fucking shocking.

9:31Mike Minogue:Jase, man, come on. We're all good. Come on, guys. We're buddies here, man. Gaze. Gaze. I'm sorry.
9:37Keyzie:You see, it's 2.30 now. Now what are we going to do? Well, we could go for a nice stroll around the - I've already had my stroll. Around the city centre and get abused by some homeless folk. Have you guys had lunch? I've brought my own lunch. I was going to say - I'm back, man. I went to the gym today. I'm back. It'll be blessed with some desiccated - Oh, the voucher.
9:56Mike Minogue:Shriveled old breast. We could just go have our chicken burger. It is actually a shriveled breast.
10:00Keyzie:Just be blessed. We could go for a beerzy. on the corner there. How good would that be? Sitting in the sun there. I'm going to be going to the stag this weekend. I've pulled out of it. Actually, we should be doing this for content. Yeah, we should. We should talk about it today. Because of my wife. About pulling out. About pulling out of the stag, dude. It's difficult because then the guy was talking to me. It's like, oh, it sounds good. Sounds really good. Yeah. And because then I was like a couple of days past my hangover. I was like, I'm brand new, baby. Yeah, totally. Mogi doesn't get hungover.
10:27Yeah. This is new Mogi. Bulletproof Mogi.
10:29Keyzie:You know, I don't think there's anything wrong with going into Fiji already flying. Yeah, it's a long time out to start. A week. Yeah, anyway, we'll leave that to the chat. Good stuff, fellas. Save it for the radio.
10:42Mike Minogue:Hey, thanks for listening, and make sure you check out the radio show, four to seven weekdays on Radio Hauraki.
10:47Keyzie:I mean, do people realise how stupid they look when they vape?
10:50Mike Minogue:You're in a hur of a mood.
