In short
The Hauraki Big Show outro “Suited & Booted” focuses on dressing up for a Radio Hauraki awards night, then veers into explicit discussion of cocaine use and drug culture in radio/hospo.
Guests
Prebs (a radio/industry figure who supplies drugs at events; claims “high demand” lets him charge more) and hosts Matt Moves/Jase/Mogi/Keesey (regular co-hosts; one wears an unironed suit; they joke about “steaming” shirts).
Key claims
Cocaine is treated as a “celebration” at awards; a bar/restaurant worker allegedly used cocaine seven days a week while earning tips; “backbone” means prioritizing drugs over debts; alcohol can lead to drinking again after vomiting blood.
Notable examples
the “unironed” suit/steam trick; the “vodka 2–3 bottles/day” story; Prebs offering to “take it off air” and “keep talking about cocaine.”

0:11Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Matt Moves.
0:20Mike Minogue:Or dog it. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Horeke.
0:25Keyzie:Oh g'day fellas. Matt Moves.
0:28Mike Minogue:Hello. Huh. Radio Award special. Special, special, special.
0:32Keyzie:Yeah, man. Doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh. You can tell it is because as soon as you walk into the offices, there's a waft of perfume or aftershave, I noticed. You look nice, Jase. Thanks, man. You look really nice. I was actually, because I don't generally, you know, wear a suit, I was trying to remember where I got this one from. I've got no idea. Secondhand store, I think. No, it's new. Oh, I don't think so. I think I've only ever worn it like once in my life. And I was thinking, where the fuck did I get that? You've got your ventilation buttons on your cuffs undone there, Jase. You're going to have to sort that out, man.
1:05Keyzie:Yeah, well, my theory is that the jacket covers a lot of L's. You'll notice also, Mogi, and I was thinking of you when I put this on, this shirt is unironed. It is unironed. Because we don't have an iron in our house at the moment.
1:20Mike Minogue:Mine's ironed. Do you have a dryer? Yes. Use the dryer.
1:23Keyzie:Does that get the creases out, does it? You put it on shirt mode.
1:27Mike Minogue:shit.
1:27Keyzie:You can also do the thing where you hang it in your shower and turn your shower on hot in the steam. That's when the steam does it. But I couldn't be fucked to do any of those things.
1:34Mike Minogue:But then you're waiting like away from the water I'm guessing. Yeah you just sort of hang it up off if you're going to open a bathroom cabinet hang it off that and then have a shower. Well you don't have to be in the shower. The shirt doesn't know whether you're in the shower or not. The shirt only knows whether it's humid in there. Steamy. That's all it's aware of. Steamy bastard. Yeah right. Yeah I had to do a bit of a The Ironing Spree. I've got to do a cull. I've got all of these suits that we've picked up from here because we've picked up quite a lot over the years, haven't we? I've got quite a few.
2:04Mike Minogue:Yeah, I wonder if that's what that is. Helen Steins, Barkers. Working style? I've also got, no, we've never got a working style from here. I've got one from somewhere, maybe from Sky. Yeah, crowdies. But I've got some goodies as well, but I've got to throw a few out. I mean, give a few away.
2:17Keyzie:I've got one that is super styly, but then I was looking at it going, because I got it about seven or eight years ago at Radio Hodaki, incidentally. And I was like, is this sort of out of fashion now, this one?
2:31Mike Minogue:Yeah.
2:31Keyzie:Because, I mean, it's cool, but also it was very woolen and hot. So I went, no, I'm not going to run with that today. What did it look like? You're looking very good, Keese. I like the little, what do you call that, pocket kerchief. So you can blow your honker where you've been racking up heaps of gear in the toilet. Yeah, massively. That's smart, man. But I would have gone for a white one. Thanks, fellas. That's what it's for. I would have gone for a white one. Why is that? What if you're getting into the powders? Well, I just want everyone to know that I'm big into the gear. If you've got the white one, then you've got, of course, all the blood will be on it because, you know, cocaine's burnt through your nose there.
3:03Keyzie:Are you that far into it, man? Fucking oath. Yeah, how good. There's a guy that pops up on my Instagram, don't know why, and he's talking about all the time, the things that he's done where he should have realised that he had an issue with cocaine. He was on it seven days a week working in bars and restaurants
3:22Mike Minogue:Hospo's bad for that shit Yeah, often the case He'd over in America Seven days seems like a lot And he was saying he'd hang out with different people So he'd have a different crowd every single night That he hung out with So that all of the people didn't know That he was on cocaine seven days a week So that was just him It just seemed like it was just one day a week Yeah So Prebs is just in We just did the podcast outro Prebs, you're back going Come on over, brother What's going on, man?
3:48Keyzie:We're in the middle of something here, Prebs Sorry, man, I didn't mean to interrupt. Not at all. Not at all. Good to have you. What do you want, man? We're just talking about cocaine. Oh, really? Have you got any? For the awards. Oh, right. It's the only way to celebrate, man.
4:01Mike Minogue:Let me go look out in the B studio. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast.
4:12Keyzie:We were talking about it yesterday, actually, prebs, and we were like, oh, if we can't get any, oh, prebs will have some. Yeah, that's right. because in a sort of a world of radio where people have to talk for a living you turn up at these events nobody wants to talk enter cocaine boom we're all on chatty chatty chatty radio radio radio survey survey survey yeah
4:32Mike Minogue:and that's just the first five minutes with old prebs yeah so are you stoked you walked in here prebs oh so stoked what are you after oh nothing I'll take it off air with you are you sure oh it's an actual thing yeah yeah it's an actual thing I can go to the B-shirt yeah you go out there Yeah, and we'll keep talking about cocaine. All right. I'll keep you updated, Prebs. Yeah, mate, we'll talk about ourselves.
4:53Keyzie:Well, incidentally, funnily enough, I was watching a video today, Mogey, on YouTube that just popped into my feed, and it was about this horrific alcoholic, and he was going through two to three bottles of voddy a day. A day. Yeah. You know, litre bottles, and he was talking about how when it got really bad, he was like, yeah, exactly. He was literally throwing up blood and then he'd get back to drinking. And it's like when you're in that position where you're like, throwing up blood is a very bad sign for an alcoholic. Or anyone. Or anyone, yes. And he was like, oh, well, I might as well just fucking carry on.
5:41It's amazing that you can negatively program yourself that way that you can be puking blood, Keezy, after drinking three bottles of vodka a day, but you just see that and you're like, okay, well, I'm just going to keep on going.
5:52Keyzie:I might as well. So the same must be true the other way. Fucking hell. Yeah, this guy was, so he would get on the gear and then everyone else would finish up. He'd get home, he'd put in a call in and he'd do another bag or two before he went to bed. What a legend. Every day, he reckoned. That seems too much. It's a lot. Now, back in my day, sort of 25 years ago, look, I'll be honest with you, I've had drugs before in my life. Sure. That might be hard to believe. The next day, who the fuck does it the next day? You're fucking cooked. Yeah, well, unless you do it the next day. Do what the next day?
6:25Keyzie:Is that true, though? Yes, it is. Well, it's certainly true of drinking. I guess it's true of that as well. But you must combine the two. Hair of the dog fairy. Don't just wake up and start racking up massive things. But I'm amazed, actually, that he was even able to get to sleep if he was doing that much. Well, he worked in bars. Right. So that's normally the way it works, right? But he was doing it all through service. So he'd be going to the bathroom and racking up all through service. Yeah. But then you get on it and you go to bed about, let's say, 9 or 10 a.m.
6:56Mike Minogue:The shit thing about that is, Ospo pays shit as someone who used to work in Ospo, and so you're literally spending all your money on gear. You're literally going back. He was doing it on tips. So he had tips because he's American, and also because he was the maitre d', the servers would bribe him to go into better areas of the restaurant, better sections of the restaurant where they get better tips. He would say, what have you got? And they'd say drugs and he'd say, you beauty, let's go. Yeah. It's, yeah. By the way, Prebs was just, he gave me a price for tonight fucking out of his head. Is that right?
7:28Mike Minogue:I don't know where he gets these. Well, the thing is high demand tonight. He can charge what he wants. Well, that's the thing with Prebs, who literally doesn't do anything at Hoduck. He programs the music, apparently. but mostly he's just providing everyone with their drugs.
7:42Keyzie:Well, you know what it is, Kesey, because when you came in today, you were just reeking of desperation. Was I? Yeah, because you were like, I couldn't get any, Mogi. I couldn't get any. Yeah. What are we going to do? I'm like, what are you telling me? You were literally sweating on it. Yeah. And Preb saw that and went, okay, I've got this basket. Cha-ching. Well, that's the thing.
8:00Mike Minogue:Mogi, do you reckon we could put the bet payment on the back burner for a wee bit? So you're telling me that you can't pay your debts, but you've got enough money for drugs? No, no, I'm asking if that can be the case. No, I'm asking you that, though. No, but I'm saying... No, but I'm saying to you... He's asking specifically, can you? Yeah, yeah. Is that so? That's what you're saying. So you're saying that you can't pay your debts, but you've got money for drugs. Is that right? Yeah, yeah. Backbone, absolutely, mate. Yeah, fuck yeah, thanks, mate. I knew you'd fucking get it, Mogey. Let's fucking go.
8:29Mike Minogue:I'm going to have to duck out, fellas, and actually, once this is done, just because I don't know if I can get through the show. I need to back one out.
8:34Keyzie:Yeah, oh, no, I can tell you're sweating like a bastard. No, I need to back one out. Oh, yeah, well, that's what I mean. You're sweating like a bastard. Yeah, yeah. I know how packed in it gets there, Keezy. Yeah, yeah, that'll rack up as well.
8:44Mike Minogue:You're like that donkey in the reel. Is it a donkey? It doesn't look like a donkey. It looks like a warthog or something. This is Moggy's turd reel, by the way, that he sent us. I've been sent. I've been sent that by someone else. There's so many reels now from people after our reel of that coming out. Good. From people saying, pass this on to the fellas. I'm looking to add another flavour. So I have got a, the one that stands out in my mind is a guy that sent me through a video of a koala with a huge erection. I've seen that one. It's not huge though, is it? It's tiny. Yeah. Can you send that to me?
9:18Keyzie:I haven't seen that one. Yeah, I've seen you that one.
9:19Mike Minogue:How's this fucking backbone out here? Two Big Ben Pies and a Red Bull. Yeah. My man is hitting the awards tonight. Who is it? I love that. I don't know, I've never seen him before, but he seems like a fucking backbone. I love that shit. Hey, can I ask, you know, the after party of the awards. The one that you're not going to, yes. The one that I'm not going to, yeah.
9:37Keyzie:Is that everyone or is that NZME? It's mixed. Oh, it's mixed? Yeah, it's both companies. God, you'd think there'd be like fisticuffs and stuff at that kind of scenario, people getting on it.
9:48Mike Minogue:Once upon a time, when I was first coming into the industry and I was an intern, there were some big names who were regular names on shows that had been there for 20 years who literally tried to break this couple up because one of them worked at NZME and one worked at MediaWorks. I vaguely remember that. Yeah. Like, that's how it used to be. But it's like, imagine if plumbers hated one another and at the plumbing convention had a fisty cuffs. Well, they probably do. They probably do. Yeah, but not like fucking hell. All we're doing is talking on the radio. Who gives a shit? Who gives a shit? Who gives a shit?
10:15Mike Minogue:Anyway, I do, Keezy. I've got to wrap this shit up, fellas. I'm going to go. Anyone doesn't give a shit. I do, Keezy. I'll be back in a sec, all right? You better be. Anyone want to join?
10:23Keyzie:Oh, yeah, okay. Anyone want to join?
10:25Mike Minogue:Yeah. What? You doing a steamer? Join old Keezy doing a steamer? But yeah, let's call it that. Code word. That's what I was saying. Do anyone want to go for a steamer? Hey, don't mind me just going for a steamer. And then come out blowing my nose. Hey, listen to the big show. Four to seven weekdays. Radio Hodaki. Good listening.
