In short

The “Hauraki Big Show” outro banter focuses on new prescription glasses, how vision feels dramatically better once wearing them, and a recap of the “Chasing the Fox” event plus on-the-piss interactions at after-parties and a golf outing.

Guests

No formal guests. Main speakers are the hosts: Keyzie/Keezy, Moggy, Pugs (Pugsun), Jase, and others mentioned (boss Mike, Toddy, Dilly, Prebs, Beck, Isaac, Angie, Horty J, Jerry and Di, Bryce Casey, John Key, Max Key).

Key claims

Glasses make eyesight feel “superpower” because you notice blur when removed; optometrist says eyesight worsens anyway. “Chasing the Fox” was an epic but not huge vibe.

Notable examples

A drunk man screamed at Horty J during/around broadcasting; another drunk told them they were boring. Golf viewing included Bryce Casey putting into water twice; Max Key nicknamed “Big Max.”

0:00For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggett. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horete. What do you reckon, Keyzie, man?

0:16Jason Hoyte:Yeah, Keyzie, man. What do you reckon, brother? What's going on? Ah, what's going on? You've still got a hangover, have you, from Friday? To be honest... You're chasing the fox.

0:25Mike Minogue:New glasses. New glasses. Holy cow. Glasses mogi. You glasses mogi. How do you feel about those, Keezy? I like them. Take those off. I genuinely like them. They're not bad. Nah. Because I know one day, most people have to wear glasses at some point, right? Yeah, unless you die young. Unless you die young. Which is probably better. Which, hmm.

0:47Jason Hoyte:I really like the, I think the clear and silver. Yes. Is like a timeless, like it will go with everything. And I'll be honest, these silver things, the silver bit in the middle here, complete surprise to me when I picked them up yesterday. Did not remember those at all. Right, okay. I probably couldn't see them, to be fair. No, no, yeah. But yeah, pretty happy. Are they insured? Yeah, yeah. I'm with, who am I with? AA. And so I've got sunglasses. You pay$100 excess. Okay. Boom, these ones$100 excess. Okay, good. But I will say, and we were talking to our boss about this just out there, he said, you really notice that your eyes go off a cliff.

1:26Now, my optometrist was quick to know. She said, oh, that would be happening anyway. Right. Your eyesight would be getting worse anyway. Right. And it's like, well, you're going to say that, aren't you? Because you're trying to sell me glasses. Yeah. You're not going to tell me the truth. Because you're part of big glasses.

1:43Mike Minogue:She's part of big glasses. She's the problem. Big spectacles.

1:46Jason Hoyte:She is big glasses.

1:47Mike Minogue:Because our big boss, Mike, he was saying that once he got glasses, it was amazing he could see. But then when he took it off, not wearing them became way worse. I think what it is, and I was looking at, I think we were talking about it last week, it is like having a superpower now, like being able to see properly. That was my next question, yeah. Just the way that you could. It is fucking unbelievable. So I think what it is is not that your eyesight is actually worse, it's that you notice how bad it really is. Yeah, right. Because once you remove your glasses, you're like, holy shit, everything is out of focus.

2:17So I was looking at reels last night, and I was just like.

2:20Mike Minogue:So you've been looking at blurry busies. Holy fuck. These scroll holes are out of the gate These things have got nipples on them Oh my god I had no idea It is It's fucking amazing You know what you should do Is now Go back and watch that monkey buzzy video Oh my god And you'll see why Maybe I will be offended Yeah you'll see why I was so disgusted by it But we should absolutely next year Get Jase to go through the process of it Because whatever it is he's doing with his glasses It's not right So what we'll do is we'll get him to go through the process and get proper glasses. And then we can get them for free.

2:56Mike Minogue:Yeah, we'll figure it away. We'll figure it away. And then we'll also get him to go to the doctor as part of a wacky stunt. Yeah, that's right, and get a full check out. A full physical. And just see, you know, get his, what is it? He doesn't like having his blood pressure done because the thought of having his blood pressure done gives him high blood pressure. Fucking hell. And like every six months we'll sort of do this wacky thing where Jase goes to the doctors and has all his tests done. Yeah, that's right. Two birds, one stone. His wife will be stoked. Huge content. If Jase isn't here Obviously he's taken a week off Because he's a piece of shit Yeah fuck that guy I see what's going on here Setting a precedent here What a fucking dog I see what's going on here Yeah anybody leaving Setting a precedent for Keezy's Annual leave Not at all And I think you should Take that annual leave Alright well we'll discuss it On the show I think I think Moggy doing nights on his own With Pugsun on Friday That's good quality radio Didn't even That's a whole new element Give the inspirational speech you guys play golf, fail us, we lose, both of you take the day off and I have to go and do the show.

3:55Yeah, well, sorry, I also don't play golf. Me and Pugs have to do it. It would be funny. I'm totally up for it. I think that's good content. Well, I'm glad everyone's on board, Pugs.

4:04Mike Minogue:Well, he's here regardless. Yeah, I know. I literally have to be here. What does it matter? No, you say the word and I'll come in. Don't put that on me, bro. What? You say the word and I'll come in. I'm not making your decision for you. The thing about it is I think it's good content. So we need to go through the whole process of, for example, you calling Toddy and we record it because obviously our boss doesn't listen to these podcasts. No, no, no. He doesn't like what we do here. No, no, no. So we record that conversation and say, hey, man, I've got a day's leave left this year and I'd like to take it on Friday, see what his reaction is to that, and we record it.

4:36Mike Minogue:The issue with that is going to be that it's going to be like, oh, look, mate, oh, shit. Oh, yeah. No, absolutely, which is good content. Whether we release it or not depends on how good the content is. Because the way I was going to play it was Toddy leaves Thursday 6am. Oh yeah. And I was just going to take the day off on Friday. I put it in the group. I've alerted everyone. Yes. And I was just going to take the day off. Yeah. I think it's good. And then that way he gets to go on holiday and not worry about it. Because you guys would be sweet. You guys would be sweet, man. We would. The other thing too is Dilly's looking to get some more time on air as well.

5:11He should be on air. So I feel like I should step aside.

5:14Mike Minogue:I reckon you should panel, Moggy. You should panel for the Pugs and Dilly show. Yes The Yummy Boys Hour The Yummy Boys Hour What a great idea The Yummy Boys 3 Hour Another thing too And we'll talk about this on the show I reckon we should start planning your breaks For the Friday show this week Oh yes Yeah yeah That's great

5:30Jason Hoyte:If that's where it gets to Yeah we should It's a new dynamic we're testing out

5:34Mike Minogue:You could literally even use that audio On Friday and stuff To try and you know Cut corners and that Shambles We'll be cutting every corner on the planet mate

5:41Jason Hoyte:Yeah because It'll be a circle by the time we're done with it

5:43Mike Minogue:People listening to this Need to realise that This week is all about Fucking let's get to the end of the week So we can get steamed I can't believe we have to be I'll be here. To be honest, it feels like we should all go home. Right now? Well, preferably before I came in. Would have been good. Yeah, right. I'm done. Everyone else is done. Everyone I talk to is done. Yeah. But are the backbones listening done? Oh, no, they're not. I mean, they want to listen to this. I'm going to look after them over the break, though.

6:09Jason Hoyte:We've got a whole bunch of stuff lined up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly like that hand gesture. Moggy's gesturing, whacking off. Oh, yeah. But like me whacking the audience off Gross Yeah yeah You might be sick

6:21Mike Minogue:You might be real sick Hey Mogi can I look through your glasses Yes Can I have a little What I'd love to do is Have a look through some glasses Because I'm assuming My wife put them on And didn't notice any different Like Didn't just Yeah Didn't see the point Have a look at your screen Have a look at your screen Okay I will say That what this is This is a fraction sharper Right Because I put Horty J's ones on And I can't see It's like I'm looking through Fucking The Hubble telescope Whereas these ones Wow As soon as I removed them My paper was blurry And then it sort of Came to Came to Hang on Pugs Hang on I'm just doing some more tests You're good These I reckon I reckon 10 years I'll have some of those Yeah Can I please have a look

7:07Jason Hoyte:You can Thanks Pugs are Big fat head though Yeah Yeah, that's doing nothing for me

7:15Mike Minogue:Well, to be honest, mate That's a good young man You had them at the end of your nose there You've got to put them right up Well, I did put them up No, you did Just for a brief moment I don't want to put them so far up That you stretched them here, you see Yeah But for me, that is Fuck it Night and day Night and day Oh, hang on, hang on The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from four On Radio Hauraki The Hauraki Big Show podcast Yeah, man How did you guys go with Chasing the Fox? We should be talking about it on the show I don't see it in the liners here. In the line up. I don't see it in the dot. Sorry, the rundown.

7:47Jason Hoyte:After the show? Yeah. It was really, really cool spectacle. Did it turn into a big one? It didn't have a vibe, I'll be honest. No, not as big as what it could have. Keezy got smashed.

7:56Mike Minogue:No, I was just letting Pugs talk about how it wasn't a big one. You go.

8:00Jason Hoyte:Keezy's reacting like that because I kind of dropped off. So it was an epic event. We were having a few responsible ones. Fortunately, we had some sober drivers there. Sawyer's on the TV. Young wee fella. Yeah, I had the media pass and I had the camera, so I was just going down there whenever something went on just to have a look. I was like, why not, even though I don't really know a lot about what I'm looking at. But it was awesome. Cool having most of the team there too, like having Prebs there, having Beck there, the young fellas as well, Isaac. And then afterwards we all got a lift back here.

8:32Jason Hoyte:Yeah. A couple of beers here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just to kind of the interlude get changed. What time was that? I don't know, like 10? Right, 9.30?

8:39Mike Minogue:Did it go off there? Honestly, no.

8:42Jason Hoyte:No.

8:43Mike Minogue:To be honest, as soon as it stopped, yeah, everyone just started leaving. So we came here, punished some free beers, and then headed to the – we were going to head up to Hopo, Hot Pond, because that's where Pugs wanted to link up with us missus.

8:56Jason Hoyte:That's a cool way to say that, by the way.

8:57Mike Minogue:And so we stopped at the after party on the way, which is at Darling on Drake. Yes. And then I saw quite a few people I knew there. Right. And so I stayed with them, and then the entire hodaki team kind of left, and I stayed with my friends there for a couple of hours. Yes. Which is great. And I got very steamed.

9:11Jason Hoyte:Oh, good. It was cool. There were people there. My issue was there were people there that had already been there. And I kind of assumed that maybe they'd just got in somehow. And then so my partner was joining us because she'd already been to Ho-Po, Hot Pop, whatever you just said, Hot Pond. And so she came to Darling to catch up. And then obviously she didn't have a wristband. So Angie gave me hers to try.

9:32Mike Minogue:And then you smoke bombed with her wristband.

9:34Jason Hoyte:Yeah. That's right.

9:36Mike Minogue:Because we were like, surely pugs wouldn't just take your wristband and then leave.

9:38Jason Hoyte:Yeah, no, I fully did. But I figured she was in there So she probably wasn't going to pop out and come back in She was so upset Oh really? She was gutted Devastated Very out of character And then I had my wristband Which I had cut off here And then that was my like Barely got in with that I was like I cut it off I didn't know there was an after party And then she Amelia's holding her one That was Angie's That she couldn't get on her hand And so we're both just standing there And they're like nah get out of here And so we went to an Irish pub

10:09Mike Minogue:In Ponds Just quickly, a couple of interesting people. We always meet great people out and about, right, when we're on the piss. There's a couple of interesting people I met at Chasing the Fox that were not pleasant exchanges. Oh, really?

10:24Jason Hoyte:Oh, yes.

10:25Mike Minogue:So there's one steamed guy that interrupted our broadcast. Oh, that fuck. Who came over. And screamed in Hooty Joe's face. Yeah, yeah. And I wanted to crack him. Same. And then afterwards he came up and his mates were really interested in having a bit of a yarn and he was just yelling over the top of all of us. Yeah, if you're listening out there, mate, you're too pissed and when you get drunk, you're a real fuckwit. You're a fucking pain in the ass. So you need to sort it out.

10:45Jason Hoyte:I tried so hard to give him the benefit of the doubt because I thought he knew that we weren't on air and that's why he did it. And even that was too much. You go up to any human being on the face of the earth and do what that fuckwit did. It's just like, what are you doing?

10:58Mike Minogue:No, there's no good scenario. And then I started walking. I was just like, okay, I can't be bothered having a yelling exchange with this guy. So I walked off and he's like, oh, Keezy, fuck you. You fucking hate her. And I was just like, yeah, I can't do that. I caught him on that.

11:07Jason Hoyte:I caught him on that.

11:09Mike Minogue:And then the second one, which was nowhere near as bad, but Jace, who had a chronic headache and had taken painkillers and they hadn't worn off, I convinced him to come watch the team media coming down one of the holes. Yeah. So let's just go watch Jerry and Di hack up the – Watch everybody take eight putts. Yeah, yeah, yeah, which is great. Like everyone that was on that hole. Yeah. That was one of the worst viewing experiences of golf I've ever had. But, Mogey, you missed the fairway where the action was. Right. So the fairway was Bryce Casey putting it into the water twice. And to be fair, like John Key and Max Key really playing very well.

11:39Mike Minogue:And watching Jerry and Dye like just barely get a good shot in. I liked, just while you're there, I liked Mike Lane's nickname for Max Key, who is not the slender young stallion he once was. He was calling him Big Max. I mean, fair play. What's he, like 30s now or something? I wouldn't have a clue. Tuck in. Big Max is great I convinced Jase He was like I'm going to go home I've got a headache I was like Nah we'll just go Watch Jerry and Dyer Coming down now Let's go watch them He's like Fine And so we walked over And we're standing there Just watching And then a drunk guy Comes up He's like G'day fellas Hey man how you going He's like Yeah good What's going on I was just watching this He's just like Fuck you guys are boring As in real life man I thought I was going to Come over here You guys are going to Make me crack up man But you're being real quiet Oh my god And I was literally like Couldn't be bothered to explain I was like Like, man, we just finished broadcasting a whole show and Horty J's got a headache.

12:30Mike Minogue:People scream in the face. Also, what are we, a show pony for you? And then he walked off. He's like, oh, well, if you guys are going to make me laugh, I'm going to leave then. And I was like, oh, can I see? I had a couple of interactions where people would have felt that way, but they didn't explicitly say it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I was also completely rooted and couldn't wait to go home. It's just interesting because every, like 95%, 99%. Yeah, 99.9%. I fucking love talking to everyone. There's just a couple, especially Friday, that guy in the red shirt. Oh, my fucking God. I was just like, dude.

12:56Mike Minogue:Oh, he was...

12:58Jason Hoyte:Fucking hell. One of his mates was so embarrassed. He was embarrassed. He did an Irish exit. He was like, oh, I'm going to go check out this next shot and just booted it. And it was the most obvious thing. Every single one of us, except the pissed guy, was like, well, he was just trying to get out of the conversation. Yeah, right. We watched him walk off looking back. Hey, old Moggy's fine, guys.

13:15Mike Minogue:Well, that'll do. Right, that's it. It will do. That's the big show. Four to seven weekdays, Radio Hauraki. I know that number. Sorry for smoke bombing you, Kev. Yeah, no, you take it, man. Bye, Moggy.
