In short
The hosts wrap up “The Big Show” with banter about a “big meeting” at work, plus personal health mishaps (stomach cramps, mouth ulcers from antibiotics) and a “Shat Chat” segment idea about whether it’s acceptable to talk while using the toilet. They also discuss meeting culture (asking questions vs making meetings longer) and end with travel/weather talk for Wellington.
Guests
No guests appear; it’s a roundtable among the hosts (Mookie, Kesey/Keezy, Jase/Jason, Manaya/Moggy, plus “Pugsan” mentioned in a poll).
Key claims
The meeting was the longest at any station; asking questions is good for engagement; some people want fewer meetings but communication gaps cause missed info.
Notable examples
London train-station businessman chatting while urinating; two coworkers chatting while shitting; antibiotics requiring staying upright to avoid mouth burning.

0:15Keyzie:Yeah man. Yeah. What a day eh fellas. Fucking cold but beautiful. She's a chilly bastard mate who makes a change from all this bloody rain we're having am I right guys? Well, it was always going to clear about midweek there, Mookie, so I'm glad to see that the weather forecast is bang on. Did you go out for a game of golf this morning? No, we had that stupid fucking meeting. You loved it, eh?
0:35Mike Minogue:It was a good meeting, I thought.
0:37Keyzie:I enjoy that meeting.
0:38Mike Minogue:My voice sounds weird today, by the way. Yeah. It does. Yeah. What is your birthday last night, Kesey?
0:43Keyzie:It's all good.
0:44Mike Minogue:I had a few wines, but I know I was just doing another podcast and I noticed it's starting to just go a bit husky. Husky boy. So I'll try and maintain it.
0:51Keyzie:My wife woke me up last night. In a horror of a mood? No, she wasn't in a horror of a mood, but she was like, why are you grunting? Oh, you were going hard, were you? Yeah, well, usually it would be some sort of erotic type scenario, but I realised I was grunting because I was getting stomach cramps. In your sleep? In my sleep. Wow. I must have been going... Hunger pains probably. No, no, I'd eaten plenty, which have gone on throughout the day, and I won't talk you through my ablutions, but holy shit, something's going on down in the old skarts. Sounds like... Time to... Yeah, big C. Yeah. Oh, big C.
1:33Keyzie:Fuck. That's just what I need wandering around in my head right now. I've got wandering around in mine. I've got some ulcers on the roof of my mouth. I think it's because I'm using antibiotics. Oh, really? And I took some like last night. You probably don't know this. I didn't know this, but you're meant to stay upright. I think we've talked about this before for 20 minutes after you take antibiotics. because the fumes come up and it burns. So I think that's what's happening. I think I've burnt the roof of my mouth. It's so weird. But today I've got it in my head. No, no, that's mouth count cancer.
2:01Yeah. Oh, not mouth cancer. Not mouth count cancer.
2:04Keyzie:To be honest, the big C didn't come into my head. It was more just, what have I eaten? Oh, you need to consider it. Well, yeah. I mean, if it continues, it's sort of settled down now. Thank God for that.
2:16Mike Minogue:Are we talking about this on the show as well? If you want to. No, but have you got some content around your ablutions lined up for the radio show? Yeah, Shat Chat. Are we bringing it back? Just wondering. Because there's been a bit of chat that we need to, and I think we should be taking this to the listeners. What are we over? What do we need to change up? Send us through a talkback, actually, would be the best, wouldn't it? And we can address it here about the things that people don't like, the things that people do like. Sure. Might as well.
2:46Keyzie:Just in terms of Shat Chat, old Pugsan and I had a big poll about having a conversation while you're taking a shit. Yeah. It's interesting. Quite a big amount of feedback on that. I don't want to need chat when I'm doing it. No, neither. I was at a train station in London and a businessman came in. He was talking about how much business he had to do. Not poos-wise. I was going to say business. I was going to say what kind of business. He was talking to his mum about all the things that he's got going on. He was an older fella, like, you know, 50s or something. Jesus, that's fucking old. Well, he was older than young.
3:21And he was talking to his mum while he was pissing in the toilet and then flushed it. Yes. Yeah, no, I don't do that.
3:29Keyzie:Well, what brought it on for us was I was in our toilets here and there were two dudes who were clearly sitting down having a shit, chatting away, and I was like, is that cool or is that not cool?
3:39Mike Minogue:I almost like that. Like, if you had your best mate, you're like, fuck, I need to take a shit, and then he was like, yeah, me too. and then you just went and took a dump together and just kept yawning. Yeah. I'd almost, I'd never do that because I'd have to be at work doing poos and I don't like that. No. No, that's right. I forgot about that. I do it at home only. Hey, Moggy, you know this morning that meeting? Yeah, man. When me and Jase were late? Oh, yeah. How bad was that? Nobody cared. Okay, good. No, no, it was just a bit of a laugh. How long's it going to be? Da, da, da. And then it's like, should we start without them?
4:05Yeah, sweet as. Okay, good.
4:06Keyzie:Yeah, I mean, I didn't mind that you'd started. No, I don't think you would. It's like moving along.
4:11Mike Minogue:Yeah. The one meeting of the year where we have to come in early and chase it up. Yeah, you guys were always on time.
4:16Keyzie:I was on time, but then we fucking, coming into town was a massive queue of traffic. Right. It just went booge and stopped. She's all over. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
4:32Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show podcast. What are your big takeaways from that meeting, Jason?
4:37Keyzie:Oh, I think, you know, it was good in the sense that I think there was a recognition of the show's doing pretty good and it's not being reflected in some areas. I'd agree with that. And so from that I go, okay, well, I'm glad that you at least see that. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. So that was my takeaway from it. Yeah. Apparently it was the longest meeting they had. Really? Out of any of the stations. Okay. What does that tell you? Which either means we're the most engaged and interested or every other station is going exactly how they want it to, so they're just like, oh, yeah, righto, see you later.
5:16You know what I mean?
5:17Keyzie:Yeah, I thought Manaya banged on a bit, but other than that, it was fine.
5:20Mike Minogue:Jase, there is nothing wrong with asking questions and being interested.
5:22Keyzie:Yeah, he was just fucking going on and on. No, he wasn't. Can you shut the fuck up, Manaya?
5:27Mike Minogue:See, Jase views anyone asking a question or speaking as the meeting's now going to be longer. But we're interested in our product, Jase. I've been in those meetings before, certainly. But I like that meeting. Can you make it another one of your goals to ask a question in every meeting from now on? That's a good idea. No. No. Like, that'd be such a good goal. So what would your question today have been?
5:47Keyzie:It's not a goal that I'm even vaguely interested in.
5:53Mike Minogue:What meeting could we have that you'd be interested in? Golf. Even a golf meeting, he'd be like, oh.
5:59Keyzie:No, I'd be interested in a meeting cutting back on our meetings.
6:05Mike Minogue:Right, a meeting about cutting back. So we sit down and we go, right, guys, here's how it is. We have two 15-minute meetings a week. Are they necessary? And Hoity J wants to cut back on them. Yes. Really? I like a meeting. I don't. It's good. I like a meeting because when communication's off, and it has been at the station in the past, it's so stupid. So much shit gets missed. You know what I mean? You know what I mean, man? Do you know what I mean, man? No, not really. Yeah, man. That's the thing, man. You get it. Jase gets it, man. Yeah, okay. Yeah, no.
6:35Keyzie:What is that? No, it's all fine. It's all part of the process, isn't it? You know, it's words like brainstorming and stuff that I don't respond well to. I go, don't fucking say that word. It's like someone saying, well, on my journey, it's been fascinating actually because my wife's had quite a few Zooms at home just listening in. And it's like. Journey's a big one. Jesus. Some of the questions people. And interestingly, my youngest who's doing a course at the moment, every Thursday night she has to do a big meet, you know, they do a big sort of Zoom meeting about the course. And she comes out effing and jeffing about the stupid questions.
7:16Keyzie:And she said it's always the old people, you know what I mean, that are asking questions. And she's like, just blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, you idiot. Yeah. You know, she doesn't say that. And then she comes out and says it to me and I go, I can relate. I wonder where she got that from. Yeah, I don't know.
7:31Mike Minogue:But also we were taught at school that no question's a dumb question. Sure. And if you don't know, you're better off asking and then finding out than just being like, I don't know, and then just being like,
7:40Keyzie:look, I'm totally into people doing that. I just don't want to be there.
7:44Mike Minogue:You're right.
7:45Keyzie:You know what I'm saying? If you've got a stupid question, fire away. Just don't expect me to be present. That's true, man. Okay, Keezy? All right, man. I don't know, man. When you're 44 and you've been in the game for a long, long time and I'll be keen to see how enthusiastic you are about.
8:04Mike Minogue:But the issue you've got, Jase, is I am used to comparing this to what my dad does, which is work six days a week from fucking 7am till 6. Yeah, but does he have meetings all the time though? Fucking is. But no, phone calls, but that's what I compare the work ethic to. So if I have to have a meeting, I'm like, well, yeah, that's fine.
8:22Keyzie:Well, that's what I mean though. I'll do them. That doesn't mean I have to like them.
8:26Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. and your attitude is going to change to over the next 10 to 20 years 100 % it will 100 % but right now I'm in the air I agree I was in the air it was good because I've never been to one of those meetings before no it is interesting yeah and for the listeners it was like a meeting about how the station's going yeah yeah yeah and we do it once a year anyway we're all fired yeah anyway we're all sacked you're fizzing for inevitably tomorrow fellas off to Wellington yeah Jace is looking a little bit nervous, I've got to say. I reckon it's actually going to be a small one, man. I don't think there's anything to be worried about.

9:02Keyzie:I am saying, I'll put it on the record right now, it ain't going to be a small one. I don't know, man. It is going to be fucking huge. Nah, people in Wellington are chill. Yeah, they're chill, but it's going to be fucking huge.
9:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, right.
9:17Keyzie:I'm not anticipating a small crowd at all.
9:20Mike Minogue:Well, do you want to maybe just, do you want to have a meeting about it, and we'll just sort of go over?
9:24Keyzie:No, I mean, it's going to be what it is. Gizzy, we don't need to have a meeting.
9:28Mike Minogue:All right, okay. You know what I mean? Oh, man. It feels like something we should have a meeting about. Well, we just did, actually. We did, actually. That was a good meeting. That was fine. Well, it's going to be good because there's going to be strong Southerlies, and Parrot Dog is on the south coast. Yes. Looking at a high of 10. Are you serious? I'm 100 % serious, and a low of 7. Is it rainy or what? Well, it doesn't show you. It's just howling gale signs. So it's just going to be shithouse. Cloudy periods with a few showers in the morning and evening. Strong southerlies easing in the afternoon.
10:01So we might get lucky there. But it says here the Big Show's flight is going to be an absolute shocker. Wow.
10:09Mike Minogue:Oh, good shit. Which app is that? Hey, listen to the Big Show. 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Perpendicular landing.
