In short

This “OUTRO: The Big Meth Show” is a comedic wrap-up where hosts joke about being sick, taking strong cold/flu medicine (named “David Seymour” as a punchline), and how “meth” would supposedly change their humor and conversation.

Guests

Mogi (describes back-to-back meetings, COVID-like brain fog, and getting potent flu drugs from a pharmacist), Pugs (discusses “meth hookups” via buying other drugs that are “cut with meth” in NZ; also jokes about trammies), and Jase/Keezy/Kesey (mentioned in banter; Jase jokes about “trammies” and an anus-as-“bin” reference).

Key claims

drugs remove humor; phone-free movie watching is “art,” but modern films are designed for second-screen distraction. Examples: movie plots repeating “bomb on a train” every 30 seconds; cinema costs ($40 tickets plus snacks/beers).

0:15Jason Hoyte:Hello. Oh, g'day fellas. Nice pokes. Hi guys. That was sort of the Jace approach. That's the kind of energy we need. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mogi, how are you today, man? Shit, man. Sick of shit today. I was all good when I wake up, but then I had back-to-back-to-back-to-back meetings. In person or on Zoom? In person. That'd do it. I just knew. I looked at it, and I should cancel them, some of them, but I didn't. And then in the last one, I was like, all right, fellas, I'm out of here. I'm going to go home and have a sleep. Nice. Yeah, so I'm just fucked. That's the old moby. But I definitely feel better.

0:47I haven't got the, in the sense that I don't have the blocked nose or the cough sort of thing going on at all. Nice. But it's like, you remember when you got COVID and your brain was just fucking done? It's like that. Yeah, foggy. It's like that. It's like me yesterday. Wow. And me yesterday. Yeah. It's like pugs yesterday. Yeah, it's like being hungover. Pugs yesterday. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So not 100%, but I've had some cold medicine. I went into the pharmacist and I said, I want your most, most, what's that? Potent. His name. Strong. What's his name there? Deputy Prime Minister. See, this is where I'm at.

1:23David Seymour. There you go. Give me your most David Seymour flu drugs, please. So that led to an interrogation. Yeah. But I got the drugs in the end and have been smashing those. So you're full of meth right now then? Full of meth, man. Meth would do the job, 100%. I'd have some chat for others.

1:41Mike Minogue:Imagine that. Imagine we just say, let's just do a meth show. Because, Pugs, you were saying you've got the hookups for meth. Yeah, I've got the hookups for meth. And we just do it. How often would we need to do it, Moggy? Once will be enough. Just once? But, well, how much would you need to and then how many times would you do it? Because you would do it as often as you could get your hands on the pipe. Right, okay. What tends to happen when you're in a meth circle, and we've all been there, fellas, is that all you're doing is you're waiting for the guy holding on to it to shut the fuck up and pass it.

2:08Right. Because he's the guy that will be talking the most and he'll be reluctant to pass it on.

2:14Mike Minogue:Right, okay. Yeah, it's a hell of a drug. And the great thing about it is it removes people's sense of humour. Oh, cool. Yeah, it's really good. So awesome. It'd be intense chat. Intense chat, no humour whatsoever, no laughing. Just sort of, people are sort of photocopies of photocopies of themselves. Right, okay. They're not quite there. It's a really good young people on the end of it, especially if the person's day two, day three. So if we did meth and then recorded a show, it would be no humour whatsoever and just nothing but bullshit for three hours? 100%. I think it was a real good show.

2:53It would be worth a look. I'd listen to it, 100%.

2:55Mike Minogue:I would listen to that show. I mean, it sounds like a regular show we do, to be honest. Maybe like a one-time listen. Maybe Monday through Friday. Well, Pugs, because where do you get your meth from?

3:03Jason Hoyte:Where do I get my meth from? I usually just buy other drugs, and because it's New Zealand, they're cut with meth, so you just have that. That's true. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You just buy anything else, and then it's medgy. Yeah, that's right. You know what I mean? Is it? Not in my experience. I don't buy drugs. What experience? Yeah, I was going to say. I don't condone them either.

3:21Jason Hoyte:On Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.

3:26Mike Minogue:That's what's great about the show is none of us buy or consume or condone drugs in any way. No. And if we did, if any of us did, I would be fuming. I mean, obviously, Jase jokes about trying to get trammies off me, but he's just joking. He actually took me aside the other day after that chat and said, hey, Keezy, seriously, get rid of those trammies, mate. Put them in the bin.

3:43Jason Hoyte:Put them up my anus. Put them in a date and put them up my date.

3:46Mike Minogue:He refers to his anus as the bin.

3:49Jason Hoyte:Yeah. There's always chucking stuff in there, guys. That's good stuff. Fucking hell. Yeah.

3:54Mike Minogue:That's been going on, man. How was the, don't tell me how the movie itself was, but how fucked were you last night? Pretty fucked. Because I had a bath at like 7.30, oh, no, it's been 7.45. As soon as I got home, I was freezing straight in the bath. And I was sitting there thinking, sitting there thinking about you, Pugs, and going, fuck being Pugs right now. It was a similar experience to a relaxing bath. Did that ruin the movie as well? What's that? Being fucked.

4:19Jason Hoyte:I mean I would like to say it didn't But at the same time When I'm like that And when I'm particularly tired Everything sort of has a shitty lens Over the top of it It does It's certainly maybe more critical But also We'll get into it on the But it was shit We'll get into the review later But yeah I think just generally Like my attitude And like you think Everybody's out to get you in a way Or you think You're already sort of Starting to do that at work You get like a little bit What? Everyone's out to get you See? Yeah. You've still got it, man. Are you kidding me, man? Yeah, I got on the piss last night.

4:52At the movies.

4:53Jason Hoyte:Nah, yeah, you just sort of get in that mood where you become slightly insecure with yourself. I'm never like that. Nah. Nah. Did anyone enjoy it? Look, there were certainly moments where we were all enjoying the experience together. But yeah, just save it for the show, man. You'll hear all about it on what's in the telly. I think I've got to get off the gram, eh? I was watching a movie last night. I've got no time for them, eh? Movies? Yeah. Because they're too long. I think so. I think it's really affecting my... Right. So you, right now... I think what I need to do is get off the gram. The trouble I need is I need to do it for work, which is a real ball ache.

5:38And I want to get rid of all of my Netflix and all that shit and only go to movies.

5:43Jason Hoyte:I've recently been reinvigorated. My passion for the cinema is... has come back. Because you go, you sit there, you have to watch it. There's no phone, there's no walking away. Yeah, that's what I should do. I won't. That's really good. The problem is it's 40 bucks a pop. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it was a giveaway ticket that we got last night so I was very grateful for that. But then like, the week before when I went to Fargo, that was a good like, $50 operation. For an old movie. Yeah. But cool though. Oh, and a fantastic movie. But 50 bucks. It's a lot of money. I think it was like two or three tickets, yeah.

6:19Jason Hoyte:Yeah, right, see. Plus snacks. Oh, what, for three? That was for three, and then the snacks and beers and shit ended up being like another$50. It's out at, where is it? Academy, I went to. But they do$5 Wednesdays, but it wasn't Wednesday, see.

6:33Mike Minogue:The way you are feeling right now, in terms of your movie consumption, that's what the young generation's going to be like in the future. Yeah, they already are. Because they're all, they're already fucking, and I, you know.

6:43Jason Hoyte:Well, don't they make films now on Netflix? that are designed to second screen watching. Yeah, they're designed so that they repeat the plot every so often so that you can tune back in.

6:52Mike Minogue:If you sit down without a phone and watch it and lock in, it is garbage. You're like, why are you explaining this to me again? Yeah. So it's funny, throughout the movie, if the movie is there's a bomb on a train, you've got to defuse it. Like every 30 seconds, someone will be like, we've got to defuse this bomb on this train.

7:06Jason Hoyte:There's a bomb on this train.

7:08Mike Minogue:So that every time you glimpse your phone. God, it's depressing. It is. It is depressing. Absolute shit. I don't know. Well, it is depressing, Kesey, because filmmaking is meant to be an art form, and the way that they make it is it's not art anymore. There's nothing mentally – like it's meant to be a commentary on society and politics and all of these different things, but nobody makes them anymore because you've got the one big corporation that buys up all of the other corporations just to make shit so that it's nothing challenging for the population. So it's like 1984. It is here is some shit to keep them occupied, but nothing that's mentally stimulating or that would make you have a conversation about anything deeper than there's a bomb on the train.

7:52Mike Minogue:That's where the big show comes in. That's where we come in. So that you can listen to our show and I like to think that at least every sort of two minutes we'll say something or discuss something that makes you go, hang on. Makes you want to change the channel to news talk. Correct. Backbone. Every two minutes. The hours, the hours, the hours. Well, look, we're at the eight minute mark but there's people out here coming in for an interview. They are. Yeah. Which I'm going to sit out Not because I really want to talk to them But I've just got nothing So I'm just going to go and let these drugs kick in Because there's two of them as well isn't there So that's quite good There'll be plenty of chat Don't you worry there Mogi Hey thanks for listening With the full show I'll be back in full strength This coming Tuesday after Anzac Weekend You have a lovely long weekend New Zealand Yeah guys

8:35Jason Hoyte:See you later bye
