In short

The “OUTRO: Tu Meke” segment wraps up The Big Show with banter about the Māori phrase “too mechie” (said to mean “too much”), fishing on Māori TV, and moon/tide effects on fishing, then pivots into explicit jokes about seeing a rare “engorging” penis on TV and childhood porn stories.

Guests

No named guests appear; it’s a roundtable between hosts (referred to as Keezy, Jase, and Moggy/Moji) plus recurring mention of “Bill Hojepa” (a fisherman) as a reference point.

Key claims

Fish behavior is affected by moon phase; “4–5 days out from a full moon” is a good fishing window.

Notable examples

Moontide Fishing (kingfish vs bronze whale sharks); Lee Tamahori’s The Convert airing a full-frontal erection scene; Bill Hojepa’s “mustache” and fishing tips; a childhood “porn with your brother/neighbour” anecdote.

0:00Mike Minogue:Two, two, two. Two, two, two. Two months. Two, two. Two, two.

0:05Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Or Raw Doggy. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Horeke. G'day, fellas.

0:21Mike Minogue:Hey, have you noticed Mogi yells himself into the zone?

0:26Keyzie:Of course, I've worked with him for four years. I've told you that.

0:30Mike Minogue:We did it last week.

0:32Keyzie:Yeah. What does too mechie mean, by the way? I should know this. Yeah, you should.

0:38Mike Minogue:You're asking me. Why are you asking me?

0:40Keyzie:Because you're pretty good with this sort of stuff, Keezy. Oh, dear.

0:45Mike Minogue:My understanding of the phrase is it's literally just too much, but like the motivation. Oh, yeah. Whether it directly translates, I have no idea. Too mechie. But I don't know if that is a direct translation. Do you want to know the literal translation? Yeah. It's too much. It is, actually. All right.

1:00Keyzie:Yeah, nice. And actually, I think it sounds better than actually too much. Oh, that's big of you, white man. Funnily enough, I, for the first time in a long time, watched Maori television last night. You're saying it's shocking. Well, I watched a show called Moontide Fishing. It's a very good station. That's great. There's heaps of good shit on it. I've watched some really good movies on it as well. It was called Moontide Fishing.

1:26Mike Minogue:Yes. Were you typing in, like, moon TV or Screamin' Reels just to watch some of your old stuff.

1:31Keyzie:No, I was just scrolling on the TV and I saw that and I went, oh, that's interesting. Moontide. Yeah, they fish according to where the moon's at. They? Well, the fishermen. The presenters, yes.

1:43Mike Minogue:And so when's the moontide? So they're always fishing at night?

1:47Keyzie:No, it's just where the moon is in the sky. It can be during the day.

1:50Mike Minogue:And does that affect the fish? Apparently so, the energy. It does. Yeah. Of course the moon affects the tides, Keith. Because the moon rotating around, yeah, that's what affects the tides. but I can't imagine how the fish would be like, oh, shit. Fish are in the water.

2:02Keyzie:But I tell you what, they got some bloody beautiful kingies. Oh, really? And it was great stuff because they were getting all these kingies, but what was happening was there were bronze whale sharks around, and so they'd be frantically trying to pull in a massive kingie. A bronzy. And then a bronzy would come and literally, and they'd go, oh, it's another bloody bronzy, and they'd wind it in and there'd be just the head of the kingfish. Oh, that'd be right.

2:31Mike Minogue:And it'd be like, God damn it. Did you know that, you know, Troy Kingy? Yes. Oh, is he related? He chose his stage name because he loves fishing for kingies. Oh, really? Nah, it's his last name. Hey, fellas, the moon absolutely affects fishing. It's one of the biggest natural factors anglers pay attention to. The moon affects tides, light levels, which in turn affect fish behaviour, feeding times, and where they sit in the water.

2:54Keyzie:Right. Yes. Okay. Because the basic theory is four to five days out from a full moon is a good time to fish. This is key info for you, Jase. Isn't it key info? I seriously, I used to follow another guy. Out there for years, no idea. You just follow him around. Oh, fucking. Is the sun out? I think his name, his last name was definitely Hohepper. Oh, yeah, Bill. Bill, yeah. And he used to have a little thing where this is a good time, this is a bad time. One of the great mustaches. Yes. And so I used to follow him for a long time. You used to follow him around. I didn't catch anything. Bill Hojepa.

3:31Fishing adventures, if I remember correctly. Yes, he was a fisherman. He looked like Billy T. James. He did, yes. He had a Billy T. James vibe about him. Singlet, backbone.

3:40Mike Minogue:Yellow towel around the shoulders. Yeah, yellow towel. Really? He was the first one to win the Billy T. Really? Yeah, nice.

3:50Keyzie:But I am quite fascinated by that sort of stuff.

4:01Keyzie:I don't mind a bit of fishing action on the TV I still I'll give it 3.8 buzzies

4:07Mike Minogue:I still am yet to see a fish that you've caught Right We saw him catch fish when we were out on that boat that time We literally had to take him out on a boat Put a rod in his hand that already had bait on it Yes I want to see it It's like Jase's mystical house that he apparently lives in. I've never seen it. I'm not sure it even exists. But we haven't seen yours.

4:27Keyzie:No, I live in the bush, Keezy.

4:28Mike Minogue:But we all know that Keezy lives in a house. Right, so you think it's old Stig of the Dump.

4:33Keyzie:Do you remember that show, Stig of the Dump? I don't even live in a house, Keezy. Is that what you're saying?

4:38Mike Minogue:You talk a lot about it, but I'm always like, oh, when we come around, then it's just, oh, ha-ha. I love fishing. Oh, where are the fish? Oh, ha-ha. I'll get you around this year, Keezy.

4:48Keyzie:Oh, look at that. There's an app for it. There's an app. For Maori television. Right. It looks like the TVNZ one, and it's got Find Me a Maori Bride. Have you seen that before? No. Very funny. Isn't that what your mate? It's got Coen's in it. Coen, yes. Very funny. And then The Convert is up there as one of the movies available, which swept the awards this year. Yeah. The last film that Lee Tamahori directed. I remember watching. That's me, man. That's me. This is true. It was a foreign film on Maori television.

5:17Mike Minogue:No, it wasn't foreign. It was Maori.

5:19Keyzie:No, it wasn't. But Jason can say that. It wasn't. It wasn't. It was Italian or something like that. Italian or Māori or something. And there was a scene in this film, and it was a guy lying on a beach, naked. Oh, God. And I'm not... I had about eight jokes jump in my head. I'm not joking. The scene was focused on his waist and his fatus getting an erection. Oh, wow. And it was massive. It was huge. On baldy television?

5:52Mike Minogue:Yes. What was it called?

5:54Keyzie:I can't remember what it was called. Yeah, I had to go and sort myself out.

5:59Mike Minogue:What did you say when you were sort? Were you like, oh, where? Oh, where? To me, Nicky. Oh, where? Is that what you said?

6:07Keyzie:Yeah, man. Far out. And my wife was like, oh, where?

6:13Mike Minogue:I can't believe they had a full frontal flaccid penis. That went to a rectum. Engorging.

6:20Keyzie:That went to, and there was no one around him or anything. You hardly ever see that. And it was just like, what the, this is quite full on. Was it, had he had a circumcision? Yes, he was circumcised. Nice. From recollection, I mean. A good one or one of your mangled operations? It's not like. Somebody gone at him. It's not like burns into my memory, Moji. Sure it's not. You're only bringing it up 15 years later on your podcast, you sick fuck. probably 10 years to be fair.

6:50Mike Minogue:You should do a podcast called Pulling Your Pod. It's just you talking about all the times.

6:55Keyzie:Hey, that's really nice, Keezy.

6:56Mike Minogue:A podcast. A podcast.

6:58Keyzie:And is it just about masting?

7:00Mike Minogue:It's just you talking about all the times you've watched stuff on multi-tv and they've beaten off. I've got bigger. We don't have to do a disclaimer. I'm keen, man. Let's just chat. But it is rare to see the engorging penis. Yes. You usually see the flaccid number. You don't want to see it going the other way, aren't you, Keezy? Mike. Yes. You usually see the flaccid number or the fully erect number. I'm talking about in real life too. Yes. Like I never, you know, I never see. Watch it on the way up. You're normally up to other things, aren't you? It's normally just like. Piling in your pants.

7:28Mike Minogue:It's almost just like, here it is. I'm good to go. You should do a time lapse. A time lapse. Yeah. We should have a race. We'd need a time lapse for Jay, so it'd be like an hour. We don't have to take a photo every minute. We should, and we should see what it is that gets you going, fellas. Should we have a race to get an erection? Because I've got prebs on the screen behind Jase. So you reckon an erection race?

7:53Keyzie:Well, the thing with me, it would take a while. Yeah, because it's so massive. Going to need a lot of blood down there, Kesey. It's like turning around a cruise liner, you know? Very much so, Moggy. It's like raising a mighty oak. I think. Well, it's like waking, you know, smorg from the Hobbit, that dragon, from its slumber. Deep slumber. Yeah, yeah. It takes a long time to wake up because it's been asleep for 100 years. A pile of dog squad money. Paid in gold bullion. Does it? The way I picture it. Stolen from dwarves. What, my Fatus?

8:29Mike Minogue:The way I picture your Fatus is, you know that, like, famous statue of the guys raising the flag, the army guys raising the flag? But as a year goes by. The Ejima. Yeah, that's right. But every year that goes by, one of those dudes just leaves. Until at the end, it's just one guy. He's like, fuck, get out, let's go. He's just struggling to get it up. Is that what it's like, man? He's like, fuck it. Just leave it lying there. Is that what it's like, man? Yeah, fuck it. And now the flag's just rotting on the ground. It's got borer and it reeks. Your flag reeks. Is that what it's like, man?

8:59Keyzie:My flag's perfectly okay, Gilles. Don't you worry about it. The moths would be that. It'd be interesting.

9:07Mike Minogue:Like an erection competition would be interesting.

9:09Keyzie:Well, I mean, if you didn't win it, it would be deeply humiliating for you, Keezy. I've already won it.

9:14Mike Minogue:I'm literally winning it right now. Yes. All this flag talk. Yeah, man. Stiffies, am I right?

9:24Stiffies.

9:27Mike Minogue:Stiffies was my first ever term for them. Yeah, I'd say so as well. It's like your entry level. I'll tell you about the first time I got a water yard. Oh, not first time, but when my brother put on some porn at that place. Yes, yes. I told you about that, eh?

9:38Keyzie:Yeah, and he was like, what are you doing? I was like, tuck him in my shirt. Yeah. But really, I was readjusting my rager, my 12-year-old rager. Maybe 11-year-old rager. Sick, man. And he said, ah, how come your shirt's still hanging out then? And he was right. Rager. I had a rager. Busted. Absolute rager it was.

9:56Mike Minogue:Watching porn with your brother and getting a rager. Just good, wholesome family stuff. Pretty standing. Pretty standing. And one of the neighbours was over as well. Oh, wow. Oh, God. Yeah, there was a few of us. Just the fellas. Just hanging out, watching a bit of porn. Do you want to come over? I probably would have been younger than that. Come over and get barred up. Yeah. How do you feel about buzzies? Hey, listen to The Big Show, four to seven weekdays. Good listening. It was a good show, though. Oh, yeah, the porn. It started out with this guy on a beach. He was naked. Oh, yeah. Full of good.
