In short

The episode is an outro banter about relationship insecurities, celebrity crushes, and attraction—plus quick behind-the-scenes notes about fixing a subtitle typo and a gym/pizza routine.

Guests

Craig “Pugs” (host) and Jan (co-host).

Key claims

Pugs says people think he looks like Pedro Pascal, and he worries about public perception if Pascal “gets cancelled.” They discuss how partners’ celebrity attractions can trigger insecurity even if nothing will happen. They argue men are more visually driven, while women’s attraction can be based on humor/other traits.

Notable examples

Pedro Pascal, Andrew Scott (Fleabag), Ashton Kutcher, Linda Cardellini (Bloodline; original Velma in Scooby-Doo), Kate Winslet (The Reader as an “erotic” example).

0:01Jason Hoyte:Righto. That was just jokes, man. For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggy. 4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horeke.

0:18Keyzie:G'day, backbones. Hi, how are you? Good, pugs. How are you?

0:21Jason Hoyte:I'm alright. A little bit flustered today. Why? What's going on, man? Talk me through it. Just the one and a half jobs, Jan. Yeah, I know. I know. You know, like you saunter in here. What is it? 3 p.m.? Yeah, man. We get it done, man.

0:37Keyzie:Well, I'm feeling a bit wary on it too, you know what I mean? So you must be absolutely buggered.

0:42Jason Hoyte:Nah, you know what?

0:43Keyzie:And you said you had a big night last night. No, I did not have.

0:47Jason Hoyte:I had the opposite of a big night last night. I literally got home. I was like, I'm going to go to the gym because I didn't go to the gym yesterday and had about 5 ,000 slices of pizza. Yes. Hence that pizza yarn from yesterday. and then I looked up from doing the dishes after dinner and it was fucking quarter to ten. I was like, I'm not doing that. Right. I've got to go to bed, man.

1:06Keyzie:Because I recall yesterday your lovely partner came into the studio and offered to cook you a ratatouille. Did she do that? She did not. And you were saying off air, and no, there's nothing filthy here. Yeah, okay. But you were genuinely saying off air that you ended up having a tofu sag. That's right. Fuck, that sounds disgusting. It was so mean. Those are two. Like, I don't like a sag, which if you don't know what a sag is, it's basically an Indian green sauce.

1:33Jason Hoyte:Yeah, sagwala, a lot of spinach. With tofu. Yes. That is so disgusting. Do you not eat tofu? Well, like, if I have a sag, I'll do it with the cheese.

1:45Keyzie:Paneer. A panier. A sag paneer, yes. Okay. And I can kind of abide that. Yeah. I only actually get that because my wife likes it.

1:54Jason Hoyte:You get enough greens, man. But the idea of having a sarg with tofu. It was so mean.

2:03Keyzie:It's just made me feel bilious, the word I taught you yesterday.

2:07Jason Hoyte:Yeah, it's not bad. It's making me feel nauseous.

2:11Keyzie:Oh, right, so you're early in bed then.

2:13Jason Hoyte:Well, it was just like it gets to that time, and I'm like, well, I'm not going to have time to drive to the gym, go to the gym, get home from the gym, get ready for bed, get in bed. It'll be bloody midnight.

2:24Keyzie:Yeah, well, I mean, I got home last night, went straight to the gym. Pugs. What's that, man? You went to the gym? I went to the gym. Yeah, sure. But it was just a small one. It was like an hour and a half. I usually do three. Yeah, nice classes. They're just sort of a warm-up scenario. Totally, because my wife's left me, as you know. Aw. You know, just getting used to the bachelor life. We'll talk about it on the show, actually, because I have very real concerns I'm going to starve myself to death.

2:53Jason Hoyte:Yes. Well, given how you usually conduct yourself when you have family there and nobody's keeping you in check in terms of your diet, we will have to look into that. But we'll get the audience's help, I think, to organise some stuff for you.

3:05Keyzie:Yeah, well, we'll talk about it later on in the show, but the reality is I can't be fucked. Eyes to the front, Pugs. Come on, for goodness sakes.

3:12Jason Hoyte:Okay, I'm over my fussy mood now, guys. It's fine. I'm sweet as. You're good? I got wound up before because I put up a video and there was a mistake in it And I'm like, I'm not having that. And so I deleted said video, and now I've fixed said video and re-uploaded said video.

3:29Keyzie:What was the mistake?

3:31Jason Hoyte:In the subtitles, I left a subtitle that had a typo in it. I mean, it's not that bad. You're such a perfectionist, aren't you? I'm not interested in having it wrong. Right, okay. Not today.

3:47Keyzie:Well, you're a perfectionist, and there's nothing wrong with that.

3:49Jason Hoyte:When it comes to that stuff, I can be a perfectionist. and I would have sat here doing the outro and thought about it for way longer than I've thought about it if I didn't go and fix that. And Dilly was like, you don't need to worry about it, man. It's going to be fine.

4:01Keyzie:And I'm like, no, Dilly. Well, actually, when I came in today, Big Dilly was like, watch out for old Pugsani. He's in a Hulu River mood. And for the public, it's important they know this. It's very rare for you to be in a bad mood. You're a kind of jolly character. Jolly? Yeah, you're a jolly. You're aware of the connotations that comes with calling somebody jolly. You're a jolly fellow. What am I, fucking Santa Claus? No, I don't mean, I guess there are connotations. No, I think of jolly as a sort of red-cheeked Englishman. You know what I mean? Which actually isn't an accurate description of you because you're quite tanned.

4:40Keyzie:Thank you.

4:40Jason Hoyte:I appreciate it.

4:41Keyzie:You're a sort of Pedro Pascal kind of look.

4:44Jason Hoyte:That's very kind. Yeah. That's very kind. The Horaki Beach Show, weekdays from four. On Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. Well, there's two people that have said that you look like him. Can I be honest with you?

5:00Keyzie:Does your lover... Okay.

5:02Jason Hoyte:Yeah.

5:05Keyzie:Does she think you look like Pedro Pascal?

5:09Jason Hoyte:Can I be honest with you on the outro podcast? Yes. Yes.

5:13Keyzie:She really does?

5:15Jason Hoyte:Yeah. Now it's one of those things where And this is going to sound so disgustingly pretentious Enough people And I'm not saying a lot But enough people have made that connection Where now I'm I don't want I'm worried about the public's perception of Pedro Pascal I feel like he's on such a pedestal right now And I'm like yeah I've got to ride this wave Until he gets cancelled Of the three people that have said, that's right. Yeah. Because if he fucks out, then she's not going to think I, or if she sees Pedro and me and Pedro is a bad man, then I'm in trouble.

5:54Keyzie:Can I just say. Yeah. You know, because as you know, and as I've told you, my wife's a big fan of yours.

6:00Jason Hoyte:And likewise, man. I'm a huge, huge fan. Yeah, easy on. Like a huge fan of your wife.

6:08Keyzie:And we were having a discussion one day. Okay. You know, i.e. who do you find hot in terms of like stars? On the show. No, stars. Oh, right, yeah. And she said Pedro Pascal I quite like. Yeah. And I went, oh, my God. Pugsan looks like Pedro Pascal. This is getting serious. How good. That's a huge compliment. Okay. And who was the other one that she liked? I feel like she'd be into like a Paul Mescal or something.

6:40Jason Hoyte:Oh, no, she likes the guy from Fleabag. Fleabag, yes, that dude. I can't remember. Andrew Scott. Andrew Scott, yes, she loves him. Yeah, he's a hottie.

6:48Keyzie:And it's quite rare for my wife to admit to liking other guys. Really? Or being attracted to other guys. And that's purely my fault.

6:59Jason Hoyte:Because you get really insecure and you freak out and shut down when she says she finds someone else attractive? No, because I just constantly give a shit about it.

7:06Keyzie:Like she was really into Ashton Kutcher

7:10Jason Hoyte:Yeah, that's such a buzzy one Like he was a hottie back in the day Yes He's a really good Yeah, he's a good looking dude

7:18Keyzie:Yeah And that did sort of spark my insecurities a little bit Back then Yeah I don't know why I mean it's not like she was going to go and have sex with Ashton Kutcher Sure You know what I mean? But just because she's an actor as well Yeah Just say by chance that she ends up acting in a movie with Ashton Kutcher or Pedro Pascal, and they have a big steamy scene together. And I would have the knowledge that she finds them hot.

7:51Jason Hoyte:That she would be absolutely a consummate professional, but also that would be her celebrity crush. Yes. I'm in an interesting position where, for my partner, she says her type is darker features and stuff, but also some of the dudes that she's finding attractive are like the complete opposite.

8:11Keyzie:Well, here's the interesting thing. You know, I think as a general rule, men are much more visually orientated in terms of women, the things that women find attractive are often nothing to do with looks. Right. Yeah? I mean, my wife is attracted to me, for example, because I'm awesome in bed.

8:42You gave up on that one, Craig. And the fact that she found me really funny.

8:48Keyzie:Yes. You know what I mean? She liked my – and here's the interesting thing. But that's a different conversation. Yes. where our relationship has evolved, and it's my fault. Yeah. She's shocking now. She says stuff to me, and I go, darling, what?

9:09Jason Hoyte:Really? Seriously. You've set up a safe space. That's security, though, isn't it?

9:13Keyzie:And it's like, I cannot believe, and she always comes back at me, well, it's your fault.

9:19Jason Hoyte:Because you've set this up. Yeah, because I've set up a scenario. And you give her shit for it. Yes. And it's a safe space. It's the same in my relationship, 100%. I don't have a problem with it because I'll do the same thing. It's just like an open playing field. Call something how you see it. I don't want to have to keep explaining this to you, Pugs.

9:38Keyzie:When you're in a relationship, it's not an open playing field. You're right. You've got to get that through your head. Yeah, yeah. No, no, I understand. Who's top of your list? My celebrity crushes.

9:52Jason Hoyte:I've actually, we've had this discussion and as I said earlier about her being attracted to other celebrities who are looking completely different from me. Yes. Oddly enough, the celebrity crushes I have. Look like her? Don't. No. In terms of just some features. Yes. Like, you know, like. So who are we talking about? Come on, you filthy bastard. Well, you know one of mine is Linda Cardellini. Oh, yes. From Bloodline. Yes. One of the old timers played Velma in the original Scooby-Doo. That's where. Yeah, go on. Come on, man.

10:27Keyzie:Wow, that was when you were going through your Scooby-Doo porn phase.

10:32Jason Hoyte:Spot on, man. There's a couple of others in there, but just have that taste for now. For me, in terms of just oozing sexuality.

10:42Keyzie:Okay. I have to say Kate Winslet.

10:46Jason Hoyte:Yeah, see, that is such, you've said that before. that is such a buzzy one. I look at Kate Winslet, and obviously different strokes, different folks.

10:53Keyzie:Well, there's no stroking going on.

10:55Jason Hoyte:You're a bachelor at home, man. I don't know what you're doing. Oh, yeah, that's true. My wife has left me. She's such a, in all her films, she's most often this incredibly well-regarded, well-acted thespian almost. Yes, well, she is. She's a bloody good actor. She's a fantastic actor, but I just don't, It doesn't sync up with the same synapses as it does for, say, Linda and my attraction to Linda.

11:20Keyzie:I would recommend the most erotic film I've ever seen is her in a film called The Reader.

11:30Jason Hoyte:It sounds erotic just the way you're saying it.

11:34Keyzie:And it's set in Germany in the wartime, and she's a woman that can't read, and she has this relationship with this younger man. Ah. And he reads to her and teaches her how to read. That's hot. But it gets more complicated than that, but it's fucking hot, man.

11:54Jason Hoyte:Okay. I might try and find that tonight, actually. Yeah, I've never heard of it. When I'm in my undies on the couch. My little... In your little filth puddle.

12:03Keyzie:My little filth puddle. Hey, good on you, you mad bastards. Now listen, check out the Instagram account. also check out the other podcast we do

12:12Jason Hoyte:that's right the highlights of the radio show or if you're listening live 47 weekdays I wouldn't get today's

12:17Keyzie:highlights for the show because I think it's going to be a shocker you reckon yeah see you later
