In short
The episode is an “outro” chat about a Warriors game day and the weekend’s sports and city hangouts.
Guests
Mac Man, Keezy (Keith), and “Pug San” (Pugs). Mac Man and Keezy discuss watching the Warriors live in Auckland at Mount Smart, praising the walkable city location and steep-stadium sightlines despite “shittest” seats behind the post. They debate stadium design for rugby/cricket and mention All Blacks ticket difficulty. Key claims/examples: best Warriors viewing experience in NZ; Hurricanes’ offloading under pressure is “ridiculous”; Chiefs got smashed 60–5. Personal stories include a daughter’s chin split at a pub and a $10,000 bet winning about $13,000. They also talk Ponsonby/K’Road, in-law brunch, and outrage at $140 tacos and pricey drinks.

0:03Keyzie:For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok or Raw Doggett. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Horete. Oh, g'day, fellas. Mac Man. Hello. Jeez. What? How you going, Keezy? Good as gold, brother. It was a Sunday afternoon game. That's a bit tricky for you, isn't it? Because you've been there down there in the old Christchurch there and up the waz and there. Yeah. Did you get on the hammer? Because you got on the hammer the night before. Yeah. Yeah. You did. How are you feeling today, babe?
0:46Mike Minogue:Tired. Yeah. Tired. But the good thing was because the game was at four. Bit nasally. Because the game was at four, we started drinking at one. and so like I was being driven home steamed eating a McChicken by my missus and it was like 8.30 or 9.30 or something and we'd been to the pub afterwards we'd done this we'd done that and then we were like alright better go because all the fellas that I was drinking with down there they actually had work at like 8am this morning right whereas I just had a flight at 9.40 and you were just steamed I was steamed actually fuck it was good how good it was great
1:19Keyzie:good stuff man great oh well you're gonna do a review of the stadium later on so I'm looking forward to that yeah still though I'd like to know just how the city was? What was the vibe? Because when you talk about later, it'll just be, you know. You'll be going downhill. Derailing, yeah. The alcohol will be leaving the system.
1:35Mike Minogue:Right, okay. You'll be low energy. So it was the best Warriors viewing experience live in New Zealand I've ever seen. Like, Mount Smart is great, but it's a fucking ball to get to and get out of, and there's just a few things about it. Whereas this is right in the heart of the city. Walkable to fucking, we were at a bar, an awesome bar, It's got a Caxton vibe, is it? Yeah, a little bit like that. Even more so, the cities around it. Yeah, we were at a great bar for a couple of hours and then walked for five minutes and we were inside the stadium. We had the shittest seats, which were behind the post, up a wee bit, but because it's such a steep incline, the view was perfect.
2:13Mike Minogue:It was awesome. I was like, these are the shittest seats and this view rules. It's like a UK rugby ground, it looks like. That's right, yeah. So it was built with watching footy and stuff in mind instead of trying to make it a cricket oval or whatever else.
2:24Keyzie:I hope so because, you know, that's what they play there. You'd think they'd have that in mind.
2:29Mike Minogue:Are you just going to be an arsehole this whole show?
2:32Keyzie:When they build it. Should they hammer it all easy? Let's build a sports stadium and have gigs here.
2:39Mike Minogue:That's literally what every other, like, fucking, the cake tin. I hate that. Yeah, because it's built for cricket and rugby, whereas this is like we're just going to make a really great rugby watching experience.
2:51Keyzie:I've got to say it does look amazing. I'm looking forward to getting, you know, going and watch a match there. You reckon you will? Yeah, one day, who knows? That's right. One day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, maybe the All Blacks or something like that. Very hard to get a ticket.
3:05Mike Minogue:Very hard. For the Warriors? No, for the All Blacks test. I think they're playing France down there. Right, yeah. My father-in-law got tickets. He said it was a bit of a ball-like, and my parents missed out. Like, they were trying to get tickets online. It's really hard to do. Yes. Big ballot, especially for that stadium. Yeah. Oh, that's great. That's great. Old Mogi, man. I went down to the local pub. Oh, yeah? Up on the corner there. Oh, up there? Yeah. And it was good. I was a bit worried they weren't going to turn the sound on, but they did. But, yeah, my daughter fell off a chair. A dog was walking past.
3:37It was like a bar stool. Yes. She was reaching off, patting this dog. Then the dog walked away and it sort of pulled her hand along with it. Oh, no. I don't blame the dog. And just bounced her head off the concrete floor. Ow. and we couldn't work out where the blood was coming from because it must have been coming from her mouth. Actually, there wasn't any blood. And then there was, I looked on my shoulder and I had blood. Oh, from her tooth. From her chin. Oh, the chin, the split chin. When it opened up, so it was like, oh. And then my wife made the mistake of saying, oh, we're going to have to get a stitch in that with an air shot of our daughter.
4:14So that was a great reaction. Yes. And then I was like, oh. So she said, oh, I better go to the hospital. And I said, I'll come. And she's like, no, you're all good. So I stayed and watched the rest of the Warriors. Oh, that's nice. Wasn't that nice? That is nice. Yeah. And then they were fixing it up because it was a small, maybe it was 10 mil-ish. And my wife looked over as they were sort of separating it, making it gape a little bit more. So she felt a bit woozy. She had to sit down. She's no good with blood or anything. She faints at the sight of blood. Yes, my brother's like that. So the cop.
4:50Yes. Wow, that's handy. And so, yeah, so they couldn't come home from the hospital until my wife felt better.
5:00Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. Great game. Enjoyed the game. Enjoyed watching it at a pub, which I never do. I never do. I was saying that to Lucy. there's a great pub that we were like, friends of ours, turns out they were like, oh, we watched the game at this pub. We're like, we love that pub. Why don't we go there and watch the game? Yeah. And so we're going to start doing that more often, I think. Yeah, because I think so too. It was fun.
5:26Keyzie:I had just got home and was sitting at home and the game had been going for 20 minutes and I went, oh, the Warriors. Up the waz. Up the waz, so I watched from there. Yeah. But great stuff, fellas, great stuff. Did you put that$1 ,000 on the Cowboys like you said you were going to? No,$10 ,000 I said I was going to. Did you? No, I put it on the WARS. Did you? Yeah. How much did you win? It was about$13 ,000. Oh, they're paying$1.30. Yeah. Interesting. So, you know, it was a pretty handy bet. Yeah, man. You know, I mean, who's going to say no, fellas, to an extra$3 ,000? Oh, exactly. Yeah, well, not me.
6:08You know what I'm saying? Not me. Some good results over the weekend, Keezy. Yeah. The Panthers going down to the Titans. That was good.
6:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, that was good. Watched a wee replay of that.
6:18Keyzie:It was good the fellas got back on the Super Rugby. Super Rugby. As I was saying, the bloody Hurricanes have been a step above all year. They're just ridiculous, the Hurricanes. Keith's parents have got a vibe though, man. Yeah, I know.
6:31Mike Minogue:I know. You don't understand how passionate my dad is. He's just like, it's like with the Waz, you know, four years in a row, the Chiefs are in the final and they keep losing. It's like, nah, I feel good about this one. Yeah. And then they get an absolute high. The worst shellacking. What was it?
6:47Keyzie:60 to five?
6:48Mike Minogue:Yeah. And because I was going to watch it the next morning, because we were out for dinner and stuff that night, and I was going to wake up the next morning, have a coffee and watch a replay of the final. Right. Accidentally saw the score and was like, well, I'm not doing that. No. That's a shame.
6:59Keyzie:And it was weird, actually, in many respects, because, you know, the Chiefs, when they're against the wind in the first half, they had their moments, just bloody blew it at crucial times. But the Hurricanes, ridiculous. Yeah, right. Their ability to offload the ball under pressure is just stupid. Well, there you go. I like that. Sports chat. Just douche, douche. Douche, douche. Yeah, we'll get into it. Sports, yeah. What did you do this weekend? Because there's so much sport. Other than buying some spanking new boots. Yeah, man. Look, we did our normal thing. We just wandered around the city, wandered around Ponsonby, wandered around K Road, had lunch, sort of brunch with the in-laws yesterday, Oh, yeah?
7:39Keyzie:Which was good, you know, because Pugs is about to go and look after their house for a month. So I was giving them the lowdown on old Pugsan.
7:49Mike Minogue:What lowdown were you giving them?
7:50Keyzie:I was saying he's a champion. Oh, right.
7:53Mike Minogue:You're just telling him he's a great guy. Yeah, yeah. And you felt like you had to.
7:56Keyzie:Well, you know, I would have set the bar high. Why are you greasing up Pugs? Because he stole his Kathmandu camera. Because I think he'll do a good job. Yeah, Pugs has been robbed, and we're trying to figure out who did it. And he thinks, I'm outraged, and he thinks I would steal his, what was it, keychain camera.
8:18Mike Minogue:Worth eight bucks. So did anyone, your mic's on, Pugs, if you want. Did anyone get back to you on that? Because he sent a company email out to the whole of Hauraki, just being like, did anyone take my shit? Jase, you were the prime suspect because you're always banging on about me getting PR stuff and you not getting any. Yeah, a bit of a joke.
8:35Keyzie:but no, it's more food that annoys me or booze. The boss is actually taking it
8:42Mike Minogue:strangely seriously. I'm not that worried but I'm just a bit weird. Toddy's fired up about it. He's trying to solve it. Yeah, he's like checked in with me like three times about it and then when I sent the email today he was like, oh, what's happened there? Has somebody come and taken it or was it open? So you haven't sort of
8:57Keyzie:sounds like it was Toddy. You haven't misplaced it or something have you, Pug Sanf?
9:02Mike Minogue:No, because it was just sitting in the box. Have you looked in your pocket? What's that? Have you checked your pockets? Have you looked in your pockets? Oh. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm having some of the best of us, man. Classic. Good one, Pug-san. You mad. I didn't get an email. Oh, it was at NZMe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll tell you what, fellas. I went to a bar after a play the other night. Four drinks. Four drinks. And one thing of tacos. Three little mini tacos with the crusty shells. They're only small. Like sliders. $140. Jeez. Ew. Wheeze. $140. Four drinks. Was that down at the...
9:45Keyzie:Were they cocktails, though? Yeah. Oh, well, there you go. They can be pretty pricey. Even still. Yeah. Jeez, that's crazy. It's like$30 each for a cocktail. I couldn't believe it. Yeah. Fucking could not believe it. I am outraged by the price of alcohol. I'm glad I'm not on it because it would be costing me a fortune. Yeah. You know, going out to dinner. Imagine just, you know, you're pounding a couple of bottles of wine or something. There's another$100. Yep.
10:12Mike Minogue:It's funny because Lucy, literally, my wife, literally messaged me just before. This is 100 % serious. Your fun account is short$386 after the weekend. You've had too much fun, Kesey. You haven't been having any fun. But she said, and mine is short$250. cracking up. Yes. It's just like we set up these fun accounts and then just have a massive blowout.
10:35Keyzie:Yeah, that's right. Spend whatever you want. Exactly. I've realised with us we've got too many accounts. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Why the fuck have we got that account? Why don't we just put that in there? It's stupid. Yeah. About five or six accounts going on. What's that about? I don't know, man. There's something in my eye, though. Your eyeball? Yeah. Oh, my God. It is too. It's huge, eh?
10:56Mike Minogue:Yeah. Hey, listen to the big show 407 Weekdays Radio Horaki. mom
