In short
The hosts trade “strange encounter” stories at SkyCity, mainly a stressful car-park card pickup where staff demand extra ID details, plus other near-miss/road rage incidents.
Guests
No named guests appear; it’s a roundtable with hosts Jase, Keezy, and Jason (plus “Moe/Kesey” referenced as part of the show).
Key claims
The parking office worker was unusually furious and required specific info (name/email and an NZ Me Pass), and the card system may need to be set for “exit.”
Notable examples
Getting lost via green dots in the car park; being told “that won’t do” for a swipe card; a separate incident where a man kicked a car after the host drove over a pedestrian crossing; another where a dog-walking driver yelled after a slow reverse.

0:15Keyzie:G'day, fellas. Yeah, man. Hi, Jase. Hi, Keezy. Hello, Jason. I've already told Keezy this story, Moe. Oh, yeah, cool. But I had to go and pick up a car parking card from Sky City. Oh, did you? because, you know, my wallet got nicked. This would be like the story of Frodo taking the ring to Mount Doom. I swear to God, it's almost like when I was sent the instructions of how to get to the card office. It was like a fucking orienteering course. Fortunately, they'd marked it out with green dots. So I just had to walk along the green dots. On the floor of the casino? No, no, on the car park and the various floors.
0:57Keyzie:and it was literally a myriad all through the fucking car park. But anyway, so I finally get to the office and find the office. There's no one in it, of course. And we had a desperately important marketing meeting at 3 o 'clock, as you fellas will know. Promo meeting, yeah. Yeah, promo. And I was like, oh, because I love those. Yeah. And so I'm standing there for five minutes, effing and jeffing, going, oh, fuck's sake, knocking on the door. And anyway, finally this guy opens this door and he's holding a container, like a cleaning container with a spray nozzle on it in his left hand. And he said, what do you want?
1:35Keyzie:And I said, I'm not shitting you. It's ridiculous. And I said, oh, I've come to pick up my car parking card. And then what did he say? They said it's ready. And without a word of a lie, he said, and he shouted it. He didn't say it just in a normal voice. He said, I need more information than that. and I was like genuinely taken aback. And I was like, well, I don't know. They said they got in touch with you, so what kind of information? He got you on the back foot there, did he? And I said, what kind of information? He said a name, an email, something like that.
2:09Mike Minogue:So he wanted you to go, hi, my name is Jason Hoyt. My email is hoydyjanus.extra.com. I don't need a new car parking car. Well, what you said there is the right amount of information. He'll go, okay, then what's your name? Yes, that's right. You know, get a prompt of some description.
2:23Keyzie:Exactly. He just launched straight into it. So I said, oh, my name's Jason Hoyt, and they said they've organised it and it's just here to pick up. And then he went, where's your NZ Me Pass? And I was like, my what? What do you mean my NZ Me Pass? I don't know what you mean. I don't really have any. And then I went, oh, I mean, I've got my swipey. Yeah. Is that okay? Swipe card, yeah. My swipe card. He went, yeah, yeah. And so I showed him my swipe card. That won't do. and he went, okay, okay, and went into the office and was rifling through all these envelopes. Gets my car out. How old's this guy?
2:5757, 63. No.
2:59Keyzie:No, I would say mid-30s. What did he look like? What did he look like?
3:06Mike Minogue:I could tell by your face that he was. Yeah, okay. Because I'm trying to figure out if it's the same guy I've dealt with.
3:13Keyzie:I can't go into his physical description. Yeah, I think what you're saying is. For various reasons. Did he look like you? No. Lucky. But then no one looks like me, you know. I've got the fucked up face.
3:28Mike Minogue:No, you don't.
3:30Keyzie:And so that was that. And then I said to him, because I was in a different area than I'm used to in terms of the whole, and it's a massive complex, Sky City and all that parking shit. And I said, can you tell me where the elevators are from here? And he was like, oh. And he sort of walked out again and went, down there, Down there where the pink See the pink Down there Down there He's in his mid-30s This guy You should have knocked him out Yeah and he was smaller than me too Wow he must have been tiny He was smaller than me He was fat Probably What did you say that he had He had a spray bottle there Yeah he had a cleaning bottle He's probably cleaning the jizz Off his laptop He was He was Definitely in the middle of something He gave me that vibe The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 On Radio Hauraki The Hauraki Big Show podcast.
4:21Mike Minogue:I think next time this happens to you, because this happens to you all the time, this sort of stuff, you should ask him what's wrong so that we get more information.
4:28Keyzie:Well, give him a hug. But I want to know why. Yeah. Why is he so furious?
4:32Mike Minogue:Yeah.
4:32Keyzie:I think it was just that classic, he was probably having a bad day, he was in the middle of something, some dickheads knocking on the door. No, just a patron. Just a patron. And he just went, and he was just like flustered and was like, what, what? I can't imagine doing that. Yeah, there's more of a reason. And I was already a little bit stressed going in there, you know what I mean? And so it just made me go, oh, fuck's sake.
4:56Mike Minogue:Did you get your card, man? Yeah, I got my card. So that's good.
5:00Keyzie:And then the other thing I said to him, because now when I go in there, I had to take a ticket because I didn't have a card. And this has happened the last time I lost my card. I said to them, is it set for exit, the card? Otherwise, when you swipe the card, it says you're just coming in. and I was like, oh, I don't know, I don't know and I said it to this guy and he said they said to me that they've set it for exit, is it set for exit? And he was like I don't know, I don't know Is that a different guy? It's a different guy and I was like, okay, well I'll just I'll just play it by ear when I get there Do you ever pull people up or no?
5:37Keyzie:Well, I was just so Shocked. Yes, I was on the back foot that I just sort of went, oh Jen, I just want to get my car and get the fuck out of here now because this is bullshit.
5:46Mike Minogue:You're going to do it You've got to hit them with Isaac in the office. He hits people with the, are you all G, man? Yeah, exactly. Are you all G? It's quite a good middle ground thing, are you all G? Are you all good? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not aggressive. I had a guy the other day that had a go at me backing out of the driveway at my place, and there's a big hedge, so you can't see the cars coming out. So you've got to, like, edge. Yeah, so you've got edging. So I come out slowly, but also the car beeps when you're reversing. and the guy was walking on the, he was walking hard against the hedge and he was walking his dog and he got a,
6:24Keyzie:he was like, straight away. So I hit, I saw him at the same time as he saw me and then I was like, I started apologising through the window. I started, he waited for me. I was backing out and I was apologising. All good through the window there and he started effing and jeffing. And so I wound down the window and I said, you're good, man. And he said, oh, you want to go a bit slower? I was like, oh, did you get a bit of a fright? He's like, no, you want to go a bit slower. I was going pretty slow, man, and the car was beeping. Yeah. And then he was off down the street. Yes. How old? Old. Late 50s.
7:02Mike Minogue:Yes. Ancient. Yeah. Okay. Decrepid. But that's what it was. As you say, I think he got a fright and he had his dog and he got a fright and he responded out of getting a fright. Yes. I like that you asked him if he got a fright and he would never say yes because that makes him look like a baby. 100%. Did you get a wee fright there?
7:21Keyzie:I've often thought, though, I need a bit more mogi in me in those situations. I need to go. Well, I don't mean that. I mean that in a good sense of going, because I'll always just go, okay, mate, or whatever in those situations. But it's a good story because I love the driving away of going, fucking motherfucker. I should have said, fucking, I should have gone. When he said that, I should have gone, ah. All that ended up happening was I went out of Sky City and just fucking smashed my vape hard. It was effing and jeffing. And then my vape wouldn't work, and I was like, oh, for fuck's sake.
7:55Mike Minogue:And then someone came up to you, and you were like, what?
8:01Mike Minogue:Did I tell you guys about the time, my first time parking in that car park, and I was driving down looking for where to go, and a guy walked past my car and kicked it, and so I stopped and got out of the car and I was like are you a good man like that and he said yeah you just drove over a pedestrian crossing it didn't stop like really aggressively and I was like and then I didn't realise the car behind me was Joel and Finn they got out as well and then I was like did I and he's like yeah fucking look and I was like it's my first time parking in here man I'm sorry I didn't realise yeah exactly and he was just like yeah well look next time I was like I will I'm sorry Yeah.
8:40Mike Minogue:And then he walked off and I hopped back in the car and they were like, you all good, Kesey? I was like, yes, we did. Yeah. I was fucking ready to go there.
8:45Keyzie:In that situation, I would have smacked him over. But it was my fault.
8:48Mike Minogue:As soon as it's your fault. But that's the thing. If it's your fault, you're never going to argue it, are you?
8:51Keyzie:Yes.
8:51Mike Minogue:No, I thought, yeah. I thought he was being a cock.
8:53Keyzie:That was the thing about today for me was. But also don't kick someone's car. No, totally, yeah. I wasn't at fault. I was just simply picking up my card. So it wasn't right. No, we haven't heard his side. He'd go over there tonight and just have a chat. And record it. Yeah. Yeah. Should we get him on the show? Actually, he'd be a good regular from the sounds of it. You remember? Because that happened to me up at the lights up in Nelson Street there where a homeless dude kicked my car just randomly.
9:18Mike Minogue:And I was like, oh, okay. But that's because that person wasn't mentally stable. Mentally stable. Yes. I want to call this guy and just say, can you call him on the show and say that you've got an issue with your car parking card? Oh, my fucking God. That would be funny. Or double check that it's set to exit. G'day. That would be good. Let's do that. That's wacky radio shit that other stations would do. Good shit, man. We should do that.
9:45Mike Minogue:Hey, listen to the big show. 407 every weekday on Radio Hodaki. It's really great. Good shit, man.
