In short

The hosts react to “young love” happening in their workplace studio, then pivot to weekend plans and family stories.

Guests

Pug San and his partner Al (a workplace couple caught in “passion” in Studio B); Prebs (mentioned as a quiet, music-listening colleague).

Key claims

The narrator is shocked to see coworkers being intimate at work; he argues it should be “compulsory” to randomly pair coworkers (spin-the-bottle style) and jokes about jealousy vs surprise.

Notable examples

The couple’s hands around waist/back and the narrator walking in for ~30 seconds; Prebs’ massive music listening hours (240,000) and Kiwi-heavy top artists; Prebs “Hammer and Tongs” with Keezy in Studio B; weekend dilemmas involving golf, Christchurch, a ballet recital at the Bruce Mason Center, and family age gaps.

0:15Keyzie:Yeah, fellas. Something shocking happened to me this afternoon.

0:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, that looked dodgy, didn't it?

0:22Keyzie:Yeah, that actually wasn't what it was. True story, this. I walked into the office G'day Fjells Went to go into Studio B And who was in Studio B?

0:35Mike Minogue:Probably Pug San I'd say

0:37Keyzie:Pug San with his lovely partner Alright back off And they were passion

0:47Keyzie:And I stopped in my tracks And they were so into it I just swiveled around Fjells Really? And walked straight out again And I nearly went, hey, come on, get a room. But they were already in a room.

1:02Mike Minogue:But also, if I see, especially the throes of young love, you know, that's going to fizzle out big time. We all know that. If I see people doing that, go for it.

1:13Keyzie:It's great. Well, it just shocked me. I mean, it's not. Mogi, eyes to the front, please. I'm looking at Keezy. I'm looking straight at him. Yeah, but you were nodding towards someone else.

1:24Mike Minogue:Yeah, to Pugs.

1:26Keyzie:Oh, Pugs over there. It's just not something you see in the workplace, that's all. It's not, and I think you should. It should be compulsory. Every day you spin a wheel. And you have to randomly pass your person.

1:38Mike Minogue:Are you proposing that we all play spin the bottle every day? Keen. See what's happening there, Keezy? Hiding now, because of you. What the fuck are you even talking about? I don't even see who you're talking about there.

1:48Keyzie:Is it weird that I was turned on by it? What? Pugs and his partner?

1:53Mike Minogue:Was it... Passionate, man, yeah. But was it passion? Yes. Did you feel a little movement in your heart?

2:02Keyzie:Oh, in my heart. In my heart, definitely not a flicker anywhere else. Was her back to you? Yes. Where were Pugs' hands? Around her waist. Oh, yeah, around her back. Wow.

2:17Mike Minogue:Like a full-blown come hither, I'm on a... Yeah, we got it. Yeah. Far out. How long are we going to do on this? I just think it's amazing. Yeah, I think it's great too. If it's all we talk about, then Pugs is going to have to clip it up. Yeah, you're right. We're going to have to play it on the show. He loves it. Because I haven't passed passionately like that. Because how long were you watching for? 30 seconds. And was your initial instinct anger?

2:46Keyzie:Jealousy? No, it was surprise.

2:49Mike Minogue:Because you came out fuming.

2:51Keyzie:I was angry that they kept going on with it while I was standing there just watching them.

2:59Mike Minogue:I think far worse things have happened in this building. That's true, actually. Things I know for a fact have definitely happened in this building.

3:05Keyzie:Oh, you have to tell me about those.

3:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, not here though, eh, fellas?

3:08Keyzie:Oh, you can. I'm keen to know. I mean, I want to know what goes on in the building.

3:12Mike Minogue:All right, fine. You want to know one? Yeah. It's a definite one? Yes. Prebs? Prebs. Had a banana? Had a banana? No, you didn't have a banana. Had a cup of tea. Had a cup of tea. Three on the dot every day. No, Preb's in the B studio, Hammer and Tongs. Yeah. With? Keezy. Old Keezy. With me. Taking him like a champ. Yeah, man.

3:35Keyzie:How good. Well, I mean, that's just standard practice. Look at this cat with his cool glasses. That's just standard practice. When you join Hauraki's old Prebinator gives you a good seeing to. A Prebinator. Yeah, a seeing to. The Hauraki Big Show Weekdays from 4 On Radio Hauraki The Hauraki Big Show Podcast

3:57Mike Minogue:I wonder if Prebs ever listens to this I doubt it No If you picture just the loveliest, quietest guy ever That's Prebs The voice of gold I think he just sits

4:06Keyzie:Chills out at home, eats fruit And listens to music Fucking oath he does

4:10Mike Minogue:His listening hours were 240 ,000 hours or something Mine were 19 ,000 Yeah For the whole year Right And his were 240 ,000. Right. He is constantly, I think he averaged music being on seven hours a day or something. Right. Longer than that, yeah. Good on him. Yeah, and his top artists were all Kiwi artists. What a backbone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is he here today?

4:32Keyzie:No, no, no. No, it's, yeah. I think I was like 17 or 18 ,000. Which is pretty good. Yeah, it's not bad. It's all right. I've got no idea, and I've got no idea how to find it either. Hey, something came up. What's that? Somebody I've never heard of It's got a new album out fellas Yeah good So that's good What's happening for the weekend Arseholes

4:53Mike Minogue:Going to Christchurch man Oh yeah So I've got a bit of a dilemma Lucy's parents house Which we're going to Is 50 minutes away From downtown Christchurch 50 Yeah And I've got golf And I need to be there At 8am tomorrow morning And Right And Lucy's been working a lot Late as well She's been pretty full on The last you know Couple of weeks She's pretty tired and I now have to be like, hey, can you drop me off at golf at like 7.30? So it'll be interesting to see what she says to that. So what, you're going to play golf and then you get on the piss or something, are you? Yeah. Yeah. Afterwards with her and her mates and their partners.

5:30Mike Minogue:So I'm playing golf with all the partners. Right. But the only time we can get. Right, so she's going to need the car. But there's only two cars. One's her mum's, one's her dad's. So it's a bit of a dilemma there, Jase. Yeah. It's a bit of a dilemma, man.

5:43Keyzie:That's great stuff though What? 27 ,000 minutes fellas Oh that's good 27 ,000

5:51Mike Minogue:I'm not surprised that you're the most Because you're always listening to tunes and that Love my tunes

5:55Keyzie:Yeah it's good tune stuff I've got one of those weekends where I spoke to my wife today And it was like What are you planning this week? You got anything on? Which is what I always do on a Friday And then she goes Yeah we've got the bang bang bang and the bang, bang, bang, and the bang, bang, bang. And I'm like, oh, fuck, Dewey. Yeah. Damn it. I've got my sisters coming to stay. Excellent. Because my daughter has got a ballet recital. She's got a big ballet concert at the Bruce Mason Center. Oh, wow, the Mason. So it's a big, you know, big to do. A big production. The dress is pretty amazing. And so my sister's coming up.

6:35She's coming up tomorrow. However, I forgot that I've got a barbecue to go to. Right. Which is going to be a monumental piss-up.

6:43Mike Minogue:That sounds sick. And then the next morning I've got my daughter's ballet. Oh, okay. What are you planning here? Look, I'd like to say. There are two ways this could go. I'd like to say I'm going to be responsible, go and pick up my sister when she arrives, and then go home.

7:05But sort of the week I've had, fellas, I think I'm going to get on it. Okay. You know what I mean? Sure. But given it starts at 2, let's be honest, I'm not going to be in bed by 10.

7:15Mike Minogue:Yeah, nah. I was thinking big there, but it's not going to happen. Is your sister, Mogie? Mogie, yeah. Is she a Mogie? She is a Mogie. Yeah, okay. Does she like having a drink? No. Durries? Yes, she's on the darts. She is on the darts. So you guys can rip some darts, man. She's 33. Oh, wow, really? Yeah. So my dad got in a new relationship. So, yeah. You guys get on good? 16-year age gap, yeah. She's a backbone.

7:46Keyzie:How good. She's a backbone, yeah. So, yeah, I don't know. I'm predicting a dusty Monday for Mogey. I think you're probably going to be right.

7:53Mike Minogue:So your sister is younger than me? Yes. That's crazy. Yes, she is. Far out. Happens in families, Keezy, you know. In fact, her birthday is in a week. That's good remembering, fellas. Thanks, fellas. No worries, man. That would have got me in trouble. Because your eldest, Jase, is 29?

8:11Keyzie:Oh, my eldest. Yeah. I was suddenly going, yes, about this month turns 30.

8:17Mike Minogue:Right, 30, and then your youngest is 16. 17. Right, okay, so it's not far off, 13 years as well.

8:24Keyzie:We had a big, and it wasn't even a planned big break. I feel like you never planned anything. Yeah, that would be a fair assumption. and we've always felt slightly bad about that because my youngest is almost like an only child. Well, I've got an only child.

8:41Mike Minogue:Yeah.

8:42Keyzie:Why don't they hang out?

8:43Mike Minogue:Mogi Minogi and your youngest. Yeah.

8:45Keyzie:Whereas all my other girls, they were all in the cluster. Yeah. And so they got to, you know, annoy the shit out of each other and do sisterly things. Whereas my youngest, yeah, they all sort of pissed off by the time she started growing up.

8:58Mike Minogue:The thing with Girls Rise, was this the same with you? Lucy and her younger sister, when Lucy was a teenager, this is my wife. Yeah, I know who Lucy is, man. Just for the listeners, man. Oh, yeah. That's the thing. People listen to this, man. She fucking hated her younger sister when she was a teenager because I think they were sharing a room for a bit or something and it was just like, oh, and they always get really pissed off at each other and teenage girls, blah, blah, blah, blah. And not now, but from about 20 onwards, she absolutely adores it. Yeah.

9:26Keyzie:Yes. Well, can I just make the point that teenage girls hate everything? Right, okay. Generally speaking. Yeah, okay. Everything's lame. Particularly adults. Parents. Parents, rules, all of that sort of stuff they hate.

9:40Mike Minogue:What about when you come home in a turkey shirt?

9:43Keyzie:Oh, no, they quite like that. Yeah, I'd like that. I've told you before, my youngest is a fucking pain because she steals all my clothes all the time.

9:52Mike Minogue:Which clothes?

9:53Keyzie:My trackies, my sweatshirts, all the stuff I like to wear when I get up in the morning. Right. And I get up in the morning in my undies, and I'm like, where the fuck are my track seat pants? Old Homer Simpson. Fuck's sake. And I've got about three or four pairs, and I don't have any in my room, and I'm like, fucking hell. And I go in her room, and they're just there.

10:15Mike Minogue:There's something. My dad has given me a few pieces of clothing over the years. I love wearing them. There's something about wearing your old man's stuff, man. Yeah. My turkey shirts and stuff. She wouldn't wear that shirt, would she? No. Not unless she was going to a fancy dress party. Yeah, that's right.

10:30Keyzie:My youngest is, she dresses like a real Westie. She's a Westie girl. Good on it. Body and soul. Good on it. Yeah. Yeah. Trackies, big sweatshirts. Yeah. Hoodies, speed dealers. Not the speed dealers. Mohawk. No, she's, no. No. Dreads. No dreads. Mullet. No, no mullet. Planet 8 shit with flames on her. She sounds like she's from bloody Grey Lynn. Yeah. She has ludicrously long hair. Does she? Yes. Ludicrously long. I didn't notice that. She must have had it tied up. Yeah, she sometimes does that. Usually she can't be fucked.
