In short
The episode is a banter-filled “sad watch” about rugby and the All Blacks’ disappointing 3-1 series loss, plus frustration with officiating during a U.S. match (technical issues with replays and a whistle-heavy setup: English referee, touch judges, and an official in the box). Guests also discuss a Warriors (Wahs) game at Mount Smart: a fun day at Lilyworld with beers/pizzas, but a disappointing performance after a key player injury (Jackson Ford syndesmosis) and bench rotation issues leading to missed chances and tries. They debate supporter culture (loud when winning, silent when losing).
Notable examples
ramen/tan-tan, Lilyworld queues, KFC after the game, and Tate/Tupik’s standout points.
Guests
Keezy, Jase, Mogey, and Minara (plus their partners/wives mentioned).

0:01Keyzie:Let's go back here in your half. The player scooped the ball back and he didn't even do that. They get a penalty and score. Sounds like you're over it. Fucking pieces of shit. But they're too good. They're too good. South Africa? Yeah. Okay. They're so physical and strong. It's ridiculous. I don't know how you beat them. I really don't. Potty time? Yeah, man. For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast, get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Or more doggies. Four to seven every weekday on Radio Horeki. Oh, g'day, fellas. Backbone.
0:47Mike Minogue:Hello. Hello.
0:49Keyzie:I've got to be honest. Oh, no. I thought you fellas would be much more sort of sad-faced, lip-drooping. Look, I mean, it is pretty sad, isn't it? I mean, the All Blacks losing a Series 3-1. Yeah. It's gutting. Getting smashed more and more every single week. Not good. Not good. I'll tell you, I watched it. I got up with a hurr of a hangover. Yeah.
1:17And I've got to say, man, I don't know if I can watch it anymore. It was a frustrating game to watch. It was 110 minutes long for 80 minutes of rugby. Yeah. The amount of stoppages and shit, it's just like, why am I watching this shit?
1:33Keyzie:And it may be that I'm misremembering things, but it seems like every time we play in the States, there's some sort of technical balls up. And that's what I like, that you're right, because they had something else with, like they're trying to look at the third referee or give a replay for the ref to be able to see and the screen wasn't working, was my memory. Yeah, it was like 10-minute break. But that's the thing, and Keezer, you mentioned it, but the idea that you're trying to grow the game and by trying to grow the game, you blow your whistle a thousand times. You have an English referee, two English touch judges and an English bastard up in the box.
2:08Yeah. It was fucking dire, that game. You're asking for trouble.
2:12Mike Minogue:If they're going to have an exhibition game, they should use that ref that was in the first game, the right game we won, and you just let the game flow a bit. Same ref. Was it him? Yes. Oh, fuck that guy. It was terrible. Really? It was terrible.
2:23Keyzie:But, you know, from after Saturday, I was absolutely certain. I went, I resigned myself. It was like, it's going to be a two-game loss this weekend. It's going to be both games that I want us to win. We're going to lose. Not just the All Blacks, but the Wahs, of course. I was like, ah. But that's okay. I had a great weekend nonetheless.
2:43Mike Minogue:Well, exactly. You can't let sport dictate your happiness. Well, that's right.
2:47Keyzie:I know. I know, and I didn't. Got out into the world, had a wander around, a lovely lunch. It was good stuff. What did you eat? Ramen. Oh, yeah. Tan-tan. Boom-boom. Boom. I let Keezy know all about it. He loved it. Yeah, we'll talk about that on the show at some stage. Just getting hit by Jase.
3:05Mike Minogue:That's why this message through to the chat being like, we should start a food review page. I tell you what, there's a lot of fucking food chat around here. Yeah, man. And for the audience out there, believe me, it's not just on the show. It is non-stop. Yeah, totally. Non-stop hot pot. Yeah. Me and Jase are wired very similar. And Mogey, because food isn't as important in your life as it is in my life. Food is the main thing for me. I just like to cycle more. I enjoy to cycle through it. So we've had chicken nuggies. We've had cheese balls. We've had all sorts of different things. Oh, nippies.
3:38We have been nippies. Yeah, steamed puddings. But we have been on the hot pot for a long time. The steamed puddings were great.
3:43Mike Minogue:And the great thing about the hot pot is he's almost at the end of it, I can tell. Yeah, I know, I know. No, I'm going tonight. Last week there was a bit of a mention there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
3:55Keyzie:So he's tapering off and he's doing his last final dash tonight. But great weekend. What? He was just talking. Yeah, I know. That's what I'm saying because you asked me the question. Very good weekend. Yeah, it was really nice. Same here. And I got hungover vibes from both of you on Sunday. I don't know why, but I just. On Sunday? Yeah, yeah. I don't remember even talking in the chat. No, you didn't. Oh. And that's a sign. Yeah, right.
4:24Mike Minogue:Nah, Sunday I was sweet as, because I was just drinking beers at the Waz the whole time. Right, yeah. I just drink beers, it's totally fine. That's also how people get hungover, just drinking beers. Traditionally, but for me, it's when I start fucking around. It's what time do you finish. Yeah. So Minaya and I started, and the girls started at two o 'clock. Yeah. In the Arvo. Went down, there's a pub slash driving range down in town there by your work, actually. Yeah, that's right. I haven't spotted it yet. So we went there. Beers, pizzas, and they have these games on the projectors, and it's like you can play a game, essentially like playing Candy Crush.
4:57Mike Minogue:You're just chipping the ball at the screen and trying to, you know, really fun. The girls loved it. Choice. There for two hours having a few beers, and then straight to Lily World. Couldn't get in. They closed the gates. Really?
5:06Keyzie:Oh, wow. We were like, what? Is that the bar in the stadium? In the stadium. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.
5:12Mike Minogue:And then we walked around to the main gate, went through there, then the back entrance to Lily World, and they were like, yeah, sweet ass, come on in. Ha-ha. Okay.
5:18Keyzie:Was it jammed to the gunnels? Fucking was it. You get a few queues there, right? Could do with an extra bar in there. Oh, 100%. But it's great. I absolutely love that joint. The key there is you had some pizzas to soak some shit up. Oh, yeah. Now, that's the key. We watched the game at Frank in the podcast studio there. There was about 15 or so of us. Wow. In the podcast studio? Yeah, yeah. Well, we moved everything out. All the cameras were out. The tables were out. Everything was out. We just had sort of lined up chairs. There were people on the ground. but just like this big chat about pizzas.
5:50I completely forgot, didn't eat a thing, bed at 4.30. Yeah. Great, so you were hung as fuck. Oh, 4.30 in the abo or in the morning? I don't go to bed at 4.30 in the afternoon. Before the was. Well, you know, you might have. Oh, do you mean all night and then the next day? Yes, yeah, yeah. No, I didn't do that. No, 4.30 in the morning. The Hauraki B Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Now that's good listening. And it's live. What are you listening to there? Oh, me? Oh, sorry. I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Right. Four to seven weekdays. Yeah, that's quite specific. And iHeartRadio.
6:31Wado. Cheers.
6:34Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show Podcast. So all things considered, like I was like, this is not going to be good. But I actually feel pretty, pretty fine. All things considered, which is fucking great. Pretty fine, yeah. But I just wonder, you're still drinking. I was still drinking at like three. Like normally I'll stop drinking and just move on to waters or something. But I was still drinking at 3.30. Must have been thirsty, man. The missus going, who wants another drink? Yeah, me. I will. I'm an idiot. Yes, please. It was great though. I had a ball.
7:02Keyzie:Yeah. And it's the, I tell you what, it's the wines that get you. Yeah, what got me? It's the wine, the red wine that can really hammer you. I think we're just on the vodka sodas. That could have been worse. But yeah, good fun. Bitty about the game How was it to be there Keezy?
7:17Mike Minogue:It was fucking sick I had such a great day My wife and I got home And she was like The results suck But that was a really fun day It's all you want Yeah because Minara and his missus Had organised the golf and shit And we were just like Actually that's a great idea Did that Bit of fun Up the Waz Every other bay in there with us We're all Waz supporters as well Straight there Lily World A couple of jugs of beer each Straight into the game Trays a beer Get into it And then Big loss Back to Lily World For about an hour and a half afterwards Saw the pants man And his dad Oh, nice. Had a bit of a yarn to them.
7:46Mike Minogue:It was nice. And then home, I was eating KFC. Yeah. At like. Bit of dirty bed. 11 p.m. at home. Nice. Stoked, man. But like gutted. But that's good though. 11 p.m., that's good. Yeah. And then, yeah, it was good, but it sucked.
8:01Keyzie:We'll chicken nuggies all through the sheets.
8:03Mike Minogue:Yeah. Wow.
8:04Keyzie:Potato and gravy dribbling down your chin. That's right. This is good, baby. Yum. Your greasy drumstick. Yeah. Rubbing against the sheets. Yeah. How was it to be there, Keezy? Because what I sort of find annoying about the Wazs is, not annoying, but with the supporters. They're more fans than they are supporters. So when things aren't going your way, when things are going good, very loud. Awesome. When things aren't going your way, fucking hear a pin drop. You get nothing out of them. No sort of effort to lift the team or anything like that. That's really quite, that's how it sounded on the TV.
8:40Mike Minogue:I don't know, yeah, nah. Nah, compared to a fucking All Blacks game. Oh, sure, but. Yeah, I don't know. It was still, it was mean being there, but after the first half, and I was pretty steam, but I could tell that we were playing, we seemed to play either a brand of fucking awesome fired up footy or just lacklustre as fuck. Yeah. And I could tell straight away that we were playing this as a second option. I was just like, ah, fuck, this is going to be so, third game I've watched at Mount Smart in a row that was unenjoyable. Yeah, right. The game wasn't a good game. Yeah. And then you watch them play the Panthers on TV and it looks fucking amazing.
9:11Mike Minogue:and they do the huckering. Look, it was great. I was pretty drunk. Tate and Tupik, he had a good game. That's all I can remember. Didn't he? He was amazing. Yeah, he was good. Yeah, he was fucking good.
9:22Keyzie:He had like all 18 points at one point, didn't he, or something?
9:25Mike Minogue:Yeah, because he's our kicker, true. But all the guys that usually fucking step up massively were just a bit – I wonder if we're just empty, man. Well, I think the big problem in what it looked like, and look, Charlie Gable have a view on this, But Jackson Ford went off So we lost Oh my god Syndesmosis straight away So we lost We lost a bench rotate And so Laban ended up Playing 80 Yeah Which he never does Nah you're right And he was Gassed as fuck Yeah he missed some bad And he was And look You know Can't blame him But it did happen But two of his misses Led directly to tries But he was just Absolutely And he was looking To the side Like he was gassed But it was just You couldn't get him Off the field Yeah Not good But it's good though because we've got another chance.
10:09That's true, man. That's true. Are you going to go this weekend? No. I think I'm going to go.
10:14Mike Minogue:I'm just going to stay home because I've got a big weekend. Obviously, Come Dine With Me Saturday and then Sunday, we're going to be doing a lot of packing and stuff, getting my house packed up.
10:22Keyzie:When are we playing? Sunday. Sunday at 6 p.m.
10:25Mike Minogue:Sunday at 6, yeah. Eden Park.
10:27Keyzie:Because my wife was like, are the Waz playing for Come Dine With Me?
10:32Mike Minogue:No, I wouldn't have that on during Come Dine With Me.
10:35Keyzie:That's what I, when I sent that message,

10:36Mike Minogue:I thought that's what was happening.
10:37Keyzie:Yes. And my days doubled. No, that would never happen.
10:41Mike Minogue:Fortunately, I was worried it was going to be the Saturday and if the Waz lost, it would just be the ultimate, you know. Yeah. And weirdly, if we beat Newcastle, we'd play the Dolphins again. Oh, yeah, true. You'd think you'd settle up so that they'd be on the other side. At home? No. At their job? Oh, jeez. But it's better to be in Queensland, which is pretty much a home game.
10:59Keyzie:Yeah. What about the Knights? Do we play them at home? We play them here at Eden Park. Oh, Eden Park.
11:06Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, and come dine with me. He's at my house. What day was that? It's exciting, isn't it? We're finding out about it. Saturday. Hey, listen to the big show. Oh, God. Four or seven weekdays. Hauraki, what, Jase? What time? What time on Saturday, Keezy? 7 a.m. Oh, damn it. Have you got something at 7 a.m.? I'll be at the gym. Okay, well, it's actually 2 p.m. See you then. Bye. See you then.
