In short
Reburger buffet overindulgence and calorie/energy jokes; then a detailed review of Hoity J’s Hot Pot (ingredients, soup choice, pricing, and how to refine future bowls).
Guests
Keyzie, Jase, Mogey, and “Pugs” (the hosts are trading stories; no formal bios given).
Key claims
Keyzie “loaded up” at Reburger (burger, loaded fries, tenders, sundae) and is in a food coma; ordering “kiddie” portions is a strategy to avoid overeating. Hot pot is “overwhelming” at first but addictive because you can refine your bowl; the house spicy medium soup is among the nicest things eaten this year.
Notable examples
Reburger “free food” leading to huge portions; Hoity J’s Hot Pot with meatballs, mushrooms, bok choy, wontons/dumplings, and a milky/creamy spicy broth; mention of a second ingredients fridge and buzzer mix-up.

0:11Keyzie:4 to 7 every weekday on Radio Horec. Oh, gilay fellas!
0:18Mike Minogue:Now listen, let's get straight to it.
0:21Keyzie:Oh, Keyzie. He's in a massive food coma. He is, he's so droopy eyed. He's had a shock. He's, oh, I'm tired today. I don't know why. I do. Yeah, same.
0:33Mike Minogue:Yeah, we just went to Reburger and may have overordered. Yeah, you did. It was free, and so you're a pig about it.
0:41Keyzie:100%. It's the thing that people, it's like a buffet, and people always just load up, and it's like, Come on, guys. You're not going to eat all that. He got a massive burger, loaded fries, and two tenders. And finished it off with a sundae. And had a sundae at the end of it. Mad bastard.
1:04Mike Minogue:The part that you added there, which you do at every yarn, was the loaded fries. It didn't have loaded fries. But the burger, that guy intentionally made our burgers bigger than normal. Did you get an easy 2.0? What did you get? Because it was a chicken number and it was double-breasted, wasn't it? No, it was a chicken one with pineapple on it. But did it have a – didn't have a – Two breast. It felt like it had about fucking five of them on there. I have no idea. I thought I had two. I think they – yeah, maybe I had two. I'm not sure. What's this bastard here? Here we go. Mogey's going to be like, Keezy.
1:33Yeah, I do. I just want to know.
1:35Keyzie:Can I just tell you what I had while you're finding that, Mogey? Here we go. Two chips and a glass of water. And a little cheeseburger.
1:42Mike Minogue:You did have a little cheeseburger. It was very cute. A little chicken burger.
1:45Keyzie:Nine bucks. Nine bucks. Yeah, man, but even your chicken burger, your little chicken burger was huge. You know, I look at your burger and go, that's huge. He's always looking at my burger. I always order off the kiddies. You know how they have kiddies orders?
2:02Mike Minogue:Yeah, yeah.
2:02Keyzie:You know, every little restaurant like that? Yeah. So I just go for the kiddie ones.
2:07Mike Minogue:Do you do it in your high-pitched voice? Please, sir. Can I have some? Can I have a cheeseburger? Or did you have a Hawaii Five-0? Maybe it was that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
2:17Keyzie:It was a classic Keezy. What the fuck? It was like free food and therefore. Fucking hell.
2:26Mike Minogue:I guarantee you, people listening to this right now, you go to Reburger, the company's paying, this company, not Reburger, Pugs has a credit card and they go, order what you want. I got a chicken burger and a couple of tenders. That's what I got, and a Coke. But people, when you're getting free food, you fucking hoe in, Jase, man. Well, I don't. I know you don't. No, I don't either.
2:47Keyzie:Shocking.
2:48Mike Minogue:But you guys aren't into food. My food is your guys' durries. That's true. You know what I mean? I can't wait to see him five years. He's going to be massive, isn't he? I was going to say the same thing. You bet your ass I am. It's going to be just fucking dumplings. Oh, my God.
3:06Keyzie:You're going to come into work with, like, mayo on your sagging mouth.
3:10Mike Minogue:You know what's funny, Jase, is you've got sauce on your shirt.
3:13Keyzie:Where? On the logo. Oh, no, that's not sauce, Keesey. Oh, isn't it? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It may look like aioli.
3:21Mike Minogue:He's literally making a joke about me having mayo on me, and he's got mayo on his shirt. It's not mayo, man. Is it, Jizz? It's none of your business, Keesey. So you jizzed on a Reburger shirt, then put it on, then came to work. That's a new low even for you, man. What'd you find out? I think it's a mung rag, isn't it? About 1 ,100 calories there, Keezy. Man, of your size, I'd say your daily maintenance would be about 2 ,500 to 2 ,700 calories. Fucking sweet, man. As you're walking around, wait. So with your tenders and your drink, you're looking at about 1 ,700, 1 ,800 calories in the one meal.
4:00Mike Minogue:Now, how about this? Try this one for size, all right? Get a load of this. Fucking suck on this. All right, here you go. Can I just paint a picture? No, hang on. Hang on. I haven't had breakfast today. Yeah. And I rang my wife on the way home and said, I don't think I'll need dinner. There you go. It doesn't matter how you get your calories, Keezy. It's just excess or deficit. Well, yeah. So I'm actually, by doing what I just did, I'm fucking losing weight. Except you've got no energy. That's not what you're talking about. Your body is just like, shut it down. Keezy's done it again. That's not the story your t-shirt is telling.
4:30Mike Minogue:My lower 90 % of my body is off. What? Come on, Jase. Talk about my t-shirt.
4:34Keyzie:It's very cool, man. What is it? Like a douche douche one? A gaming kind of? Just the drag racing one I've worn.
4:39Mike Minogue:Oh, yeah, drag racing. Once a week for the last five.
4:41Keyzie:fucking years.
4:46This is the thing. This is the thing I was talking about.
4:51Mike Minogue:Oh, Keezy's tied. Let's start being dicks about it. The Hodaki B Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hodaki. Now that's good listening. And it's live. What are you listening to there? Oh, me? Oh, sorry. I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Right. Four to seven weekdays. Yeah, that's quite specific. And iHeartRadio. Wado. Cheers. The Hauraki Big Show podcast. You know, the other thing that could be tiring you out is you're having to carry around those two new clompers on your face. Oh, my new Doc Martens. Fucking hell, they are not comfortable.
5:34Keyzie:My wife did that the other day, got some new boots, which she was looking for for ages. Was she new boot goofing? And she was, you know, doing our normal walk around town. She was like, oh, fuck, these aren't very comfortable. No. And I said, just break them in, darling. And she persevered for a couple of days and then went, no, this isn't happening. Not it. It's not happening. Nah.
5:55Mike Minogue:So Beck Sandys out there was like, you've got to put Ziploc bags of water inside your Doc Martens and then put them in the freezer and the water freezes and expands and it stretches your Doc Martens. And then she said, and to stop blisters, put a Libra pad down the back of your heel there. Yeah, sanitary pad.
6:11Keyzie:What about if you've got blisters on your toes?
6:14Mike Minogue:Put your foot in a Connie.
6:21Mike Minogue:So it's pretty cool, isn't it, that you've got boots that you have to do that for? It's annoying. Jandals used to be like that. Yeah. Heavy arnors have solved that problem.
6:28Keyzie:My boots here that I got, my... Bloodstones. Your bloodstones. Like a glove. Yeah. From the moment I put them on.
6:37Mike Minogue:That's what their whole thing is, though. It was like they were made for a hoity J.
6:41Keyzie:Little stinkers. Yeah, you got little stinkers on. Yeah. Whereas my dress boots. Oh, your whiteys. My whiteys. Those are your dress boots. My dress boots. Oh, when you're wearing a dress, yeah. What are those things called? White walkers, is that what they're called? Yeah. They're a bit pinchy. You love Game of Thrones, eh? I do. I'm all about it. Pinchy. They're a bit pinchy, are they? Yes. Is that why you stopped wearing them a month ago? I still wear them around the place. No, you don't. Can you please wear them at Come Dine With Me on Sunday? Can you please? Please. Just for shits and gigs.
7:16Do you want a 10 for my wife? Yeah, sure, man. Kesey will wear his clompers.
7:20Mike Minogue:I'll wear my clompers. Well, no, wait. My wife will give you a 10.
7:23Keyzie:I will make one request, clothing-wise. No. If you could have softer-soled shoes rather than heavy clompers. Is that for the neighbours? Yeah, downstairs. Because if there's eight of us clomping around for six hours. It's unreal, isn't it? I'm going to be stamping my feet watching the wild. Well, what I'll be doing is taking my shoes off when I come in. That's not the only thing you'll be taking off, trust me. Okay.

7:51Mike Minogue:Are you taking your pants off? Monday off. Oh, Monday off, really? Yeah. I'll be taking Monday off because we're going to get so steamed. Yeah, nice. Yeah, good stuff. I'm going to be wearing boots and I'm going to be fully waz'd up. Clomping around. Clomping. Pugs, the theme for Hoity J's party is clomping around. The entertainment is you, me, and Keezy tap dancing. River dancing, Boogie. River dancing, yeah. Oh, God. It's going to be so funny. Oh, it will be funny. Should I do a review of your hot pot on the show or on the podcast here? Do it now.
8:27Keyzie:Do it now. Yeah. Just just rebid it. We've got no idea. Yeah, sure.
8:30Mike Minogue:Yeah. So I went to Horty J's Hot Pot last night. My mate ended up meeting me there and got a hot pot as well. Oh, he did. I thought he'd abandoned me. He was. He was like, it's not looking good. And he's like, I'm out, I'm out. And so I was like, I'm already at the hot pot. So he came and met me and had one as well. So you walk into this joint, get a big glass bowl and some tongs. Plastic bowl. There's like a fridge, plastic. There's a fridge full of all these different ingredients. Really overwhelming. So I panicked and just grabbed meatballs, quite a lot of them, like seven of them. and then some mushrooms and some bok choy.
8:58What's the hygiene rating?
9:01Mike Minogue:Yeah, good. It's a chain. It's an international chain. Oh, God. No, but a fucking great one. Beef, and then went up there, put a thing of noodles in there, went up, and she weighed it. And what's your usual price?
9:12Keyzie:My usual price is I'm usually about$20. Is that right? Weighed it? And my wife is about$15. So we usually pay about$30,$35 for two. $24.
9:25Mike Minogue:24? Yep. Mine was 30. Yeah, you see.
9:29Keyzie:Isn't that disgusting? I knew he'd load up. Isn't it disgusting? But just to your point, though, initially. There's how much a steak costs at a good restaurant. Initially, it is very overwhelming. And you're like, what the fuck? There's so much stuff here.
9:45Mike Minogue:Yeah, and then I forgot to take a buzzer. And then another lady took my buzzer and put it in her jersey and forgot about it. And so there was all this beeping going on. The lady didn't know what was mine. And the lady, she was like, where's that beeping coming from? And I was like, I'm so sorry. And it was, fuck, it was overwhelming. And then my mate showed up, Guy, and was just like, what do I do? And so I was like, oh, here's what you do. I got a couple of the wontons you're talking about. The chicken ones?
10:10Keyzie:Dumplings? Dumplings, yeah.
10:11Mike Minogue:Yeah, fuck. Honestly. The key, what did you go with for your soup? The house spicy medium.
10:17Keyzie:Yeah, nice.
10:18Mike Minogue:The house spicy medium. And it is the nicest thing I've eaten. One of the nicest things I've eaten this year.
10:24Keyzie:Yeah. Wow. Fuck, it's good. That's pretty good.
10:26Mike Minogue:It reminded me of yours, but slightly more edible. But also, like, you knew that they had made this a lot and they'd perfected it. This is what they do. Yeah. Fuck, it was good.
10:35Keyzie:And the addictive nature of it, Kesey, is you get to refine your bowl. Yes. You know what I mean? You don't get more overwhelmed again. And you're going to go, okay, I'll have a bit of this and a bit of that. 100%.
10:46Mike Minogue:So next time I'm going to get, like, two meatballs, a bit of this, and I'll get more of the fine meats like what you had. I'm pretty keen to get along for that. What's the name of the meat that you bought? What's that kind of meat called? The thinly sliced one. Well, it was specifically on the wrapper was for hot pot. Yeah. It was hot pot. I loaded up my bowl and then realized there was a second fridge full of ingredients. And I was like, oh, and it had all those nice meats. So next time I'm going to go and get those. Yeah, I think after, maybe we've talked about it already, but I think I would make my own sauce next time, the own base, the soup base.
11:19Sure. And then because when you make the base, I've got the recipe, but then you freeze it. Right. And so it does, I think, either four to six separate hot pots. Yeah, nice. And then you can refine it. Yeah, yeah. You know, like, oh, that was a bit much, you know, and then work out what your recipe is for that soup. I will say. How good to start doing that and then to be able to have a cookbook full of, like grandmas used to do it. Yes. You had a cookbook and they had all the recipes, the stuff that they'd worked on their whole fucking lives. Yes. And then hand it down to you. Yes.
11:48Keyzie:How good is that? My wife's got that very kind of book from her nana. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, you don't.
11:55Mike Minogue:But I will say, I think all four of us on the show could happily go to Hoity J's hot pot spot, and all of us would leave very, very happy. Fuck, it was good.
12:05Keyzie:It sounds like good food. It was really good. And the soup is, you know what I mean, kind of luxury. That's the thing. That's the key, isn't it? Yes.
12:13Mike Minogue:The soup was like your one, the redness of yours, but it had like a milky texture. Creaminess. as well. It's like your thing plus something. Because that's the other thing as well, right? They're very regional. Yes. So all the different regions have got their own sort of fun going on.
12:28Keyzie:And the reason my wife's one is so light is she generally goes just really veggie orientated. You know, your boxers, your machines, your courgettes. What street?
12:41Mike Minogue:It's like right by the Civic. Oh, yeah. You go up towards the university from the Civic and it's literally, and there's a little corner store the corner of High Street oh yes and there's a of new things it's right next to Eden yeah right okay cool highly recommend
12:55Keyzie:how many buzzies
12:56Mike Minogue:sounds like a five 4.7
12:59Keyzie:yeah it's good stuff
13:00Mike Minogue:and only like I a five is a perfect I fucking loved it and I was like this is now he gets it right up my alley this guy gets it yeah man this guy gets it highly recommend hey listen to the big show 4 to 7 weekdays radio hodaki
