In short

The hosts banter about work stress and mental health disclaimers, then pivot to TV talk—especially Outrageous Fortune—and Kiwi entertainment exports.

Guest backgrounds

No guests appear; it’s a regular host-only segment with Jase, Keezy, and Mogey (plus references to actors).

Key claims

Mental health shouldn’t be dismissed; “unleashing” anger in private (e.g., in a car) can help before work. Outrageous Fortune is praised as an iconic drama that later succeeded in Australia.

Notable examples

Anthony Starr’s role in Outrageous Fortune (fight scene where he injures his hand), TK McKay from Sheldon Street (prison guard character), and Philip Schofield (UK daytime TV presenter, discussed as a Kiwi who came out as homosexual).

0:15Keyzie:Oh, g'day, fiambles. Hello. How are we going, team? Really great. Thanks for asking, Jizz. Yeah, good stuff, man. How about you, Keezy? You good, man? I'm fine.

0:26Mike Minogue:Nah, I'm fine. Oh, poor old Keezy. He's struggling with his job. No, I'm not struggling, though. The most annoying part is it's totally fine. Yeah. Well, every day you come and hear you moan about it. Well, I don't. I just go, I'm fine. You ask me how I am, I go, oh, I'm fine.

0:40Keyzie:It's not challenging enough for you, is it?

0:43Mike Minogue:It doesn't excite me.

0:44Keyzie:No. It doesn't arouse you.

0:46Mike Minogue:No, but I know that there's people out there that don't have jobs. You've got to stop moaning about it every day, man. I haven't brought it up. Mogi goes, oh, Keezy.

0:54Keyzie:Well, it's just that when I come into the office and I see you because you've been working this week. I have to do a bit of a detour. I know. He was out there banging on about Sky Sports. Yeah, and it was just like, okay, old Keezy's in a horror of a mood. I better just give him a wide berth. He just needs a bit of time to chill out. I find that the longer he spends with us, the happier he gets. That's true. So it's just a detox off the day, and then he gets recharged, invigorated. He loves his life with a bit of time with old Mogey and all he just bought.

1:21Mike Minogue:Yeah, a little bit of Mogey. What if we did a mental health check as soon as I walk in? Yeah. And then that gets me in a great mood, and then we move on. We're not allowed to do that anymore.

1:30Keyzie:I think you just have five minutes where you get it off your chest. Are you being serious? Oh, somebody messaged in. Did you see that yesterday? No. And they said, don't talk about this mental health stuff. They were saying, talk about the sinkhole. That's funny, but don't talk about mental health because I'm struggling with my mental health, and I don't like hearing people bang on about it. I want to forget about my mental health. Well, you see, that's not the attitude to have. That's a terrible attitude to his mental health, or hers. Or hers.

1:57Mike Minogue:And also ours is being stupid. I know that, Casey. You're going to have to tell him or her. It was a dude though, wasn't it? Probably.

2:05Keyzie:Can I recommend, and I found this. It sounded like a chick. Oh, wow. It sounded like a chick. When I was fuming, and this is true. You're actually more specific, man.

2:13Mike Minogue:Every day. When was that? Like right now?

2:15Keyzie:And I always found it really helpful when I was driving somewhere to just unleash in the car. Oh, yeah. Check one out. So when you're driving back from your job that you're doing at the moment, Just F and Jeff. I don't need to. I'm not angry. Just, oh, I'm left. Get it all out of your system. I'm not. And so then by the time you park and you get into work here, you're all G. So what? Beat off in my car? Yeah. Well, no, I've already beat you off in the morning, remember? How many times have you beat off in a day, Keezy?

2:43Mike Minogue:Three. You're a shaggy bastard. But I'm not angry. I'm just like, ugh. I'm like you, Jase, whenever anything happens ever.

2:52Keyzie:Ugh. Beautiful day out there, fellas. Yeah, lovely. Eh? Really beautiful. And it must be Cappingdale graduation at the university again today. Thousands of people out there in the square. It was beautiful. Oh, yes. Well, they tend to do that. I'm always a bit weirded out when I see that because you think it would happen at the end of a year. Yes. It happens at different times, doesn't it? Were you watching from your window, old peeping jizz? I can't see the square from my window, Keezy. You do use a selection of mirrors and sort of video cameras and that. I'm just looking up skirts Selection of mirrors He goes out at night

3:28Mike Minogue:And puts up mirrors That angle perfectly Around the city Yeah And then it just goes Up someone's skirt Yeah And it's called The Peep and Jizz No it's the Peep and Jizz 2000 And I just stare at the mirrors

3:44Keyzie:In my lounge there Just beating off Right Is that what happens Meanwhile Meanwhile Meanwhile Meanwhile Meanwhile Meanwhile That's a shock and a bad. Meanwhile, my wife's just sitting on the couch watching TV. She's watching Samsung. Well, I'm going, oh, that mirror's not quite. I'm just going to pop out, darling. It's not at the right angle.

4:02Mike Minogue:Because I got a text being like, I just saw Jason Farmers. He was buying like 80 mirrors. And I was like, what? Yeah, because Farmers. Hey, that lady's an outrageous fortune.

4:11Keyzie:Yes, she is. She's on Frank's books, mate. She's on Frank's books, mate.

4:15Mike Minogue:She's married to. Millen Baird. Millen Baird, yeah, yeah. Yes. Because I'm watching the show at the moment. I've never watched it. Oh, my God.

4:21Keyzie:My daughter's very impressed with me at the moment because I sent her that photo that you posted. Well, because, A, I've acted with Ryan Gosling. Yes. And she was like, wow, really? And she loves Anthony Starr. Oh, right. Loves him. And so I sent her that. She was like, oh, my God. And she loves our mate who came in, Carl Urban.

4:42Mike Minogue:So you've never told your daughter any of this stuff?

4:46Keyzie:No.

4:46Mike Minogue:Is that because you are like a humble skux or? I can't remember it I think you know that I am a very humble skux There's one person I know who's not a humble skux It's old A number one Best in the world That's what's interesting I've acted with some of the biggest names in Kiwi TV I think he resents them because they've gone on to be successful And Woody J has sort of been left in their dust Yeah but Chicken soup on the other hand Best in the world

5:13Keyzie:Just a second rate DJ at a rock station

5:19Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. You know how good the Hauraki Big Show podcast is? Yeah, I love those fellas. Backbone. Yeah, backbone. You get it. You've got to get around the live radio show. Oh, yeah, what's that? Four to seven weekdays on Radio Hauraki and iHeartRadio. Backbone. Nice.

5:43Mike Minogue:The Hauraki Big Show podcast.

5:45Keyzie:He was an interesting guy, Anthony, actually. I liked him. Yeah. He was quite quirky. Bloody good actor. Good act. And he was always destined for stardom, I think. Destined for greatness, is he?

5:57Mike Minogue:Oh, he's very good in Outrageous Fortune. Even as a young fella. No, he's great. Very much enjoying it. Everyone is, though, isn't they? Isn't they? Yeah, they is. TK was in it last night. TK McKay. TK from Sheldon Street. Don't know who that is. Is that Takohi? I'm not sure. Is that a character name? Yeah, it's his character in Sheldon Street. Ah, I don't know. He plays the prison guard. Yes. who looks after Wolf when he comes home for the funeral and they have an afterdo at the West house. Oh, I haven't got that far. Oh, are you watching it again? We started it, yeah. Oh, wow. But like a couple of months ago.

6:28Keyzie:Oh, wow, yeah. An afterdo. Afterdo. Yeah.

6:31Mike Minogue:Awake. Awake at the house out west. Grace isn't happy with that. And at one point in the show, it's really funny because your guy says a line because your guy's being a tight ass, right? Because they're trying to get money to maybe – What is it? What is it called when you overturn the ruling on Wolf West? Bail or something? Nah, it's like we want to bring an injunction or raise a... A junement. Oh, yes. You know what I mean? We're trying to save up to, like, have a crack and say, hey, you did something wrong on this case. He doesn't deserve to appeal. And your guys being a tight ass. And then Wolf says, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be living in Teatatou, mate.

7:05Mike Minogue:And I, like, it was some real flash area. I was like, yeah, I live in Teatatou, baby. That's great. That's very funny. So what's that? That's 20 years ago exactly, Joe. That's right. Is it really? 20 years ago, exactly. You would have been in your early, oh no, you would have been 19. Yeah, man. 19 when you shot that. Just a young fella. So it's weird that they cast you in that because, of course, you couldn't even have your law licence by that age, although you did look like you were 33, 34.

7:29Keyzie:Yeah, the thing about me, Mogi, is I do look a bit older than I actually am. Well, I think you're such a good actor you can sort of do whatever you like. Correct, yeah. Give me a tie and a shirt, I'll do whatever you need.

7:41Mike Minogue:So I sent through that idea of the group chat today being like, New segment. If you're watching something and one of you guys is in it, and it'd mostly be Jase, I think, because he has a track record of not remembering anything. Yes. Like, it's an iconic scene. You know, they're at the backyard barbecue at the iconic Westie house, and there's a fight that breaks out, and all these great New Zealand actors are in the air, and it's a great episode. It's my favourite one so far. I bet Jase remembers none of this.

8:06Keyzie:No.

8:07Mike Minogue:Do you?

8:07Keyzie:No.

8:08Mike Minogue:You don't remember any of it?

8:10Keyzie:I remember a scene that I did with Anthony Starr, which was a fight where he attacks me. And the thing about it was we didn't have any stunties like it was the two of us doing it, and it was a full-on fight. You were 19. Yeah, and I remember Anthony hurt his hand, and everyone was freaking out. Punching your massive dome. Well, he, like, knocked me across my desk, and I had to sort of fall over my desk, and he somehow ruined his hand in the process.

8:39Mike Minogue:Was he playing Van or the onto it brother?

8:42Keyzie:I can't remember the difference.

8:44Mike Minogue:Jethro. Oh, Jethro. Was he playing Jethro? Yes. Yeah, right. Yeah.

8:47Keyzie:Is Jethro the lawyer? The fake lawyer. No, no. He was playing the... Van. Yeah, Van. The bogan hoodie guy. Yes. Yeah, I think he was. I like Van.

8:57Mike Minogue:He's cool. I really, I'm fucking loving that show, eh? It's a great show. And my wife and I are loving it. Yes. You guys love it, eh? The storyline, and I'll say this again on what's on TV, but the storyline last night, It's like the moment where Cheryl West makes it an important, she realises something massive. And I won't spoil it, even though it's old as fuck, someone listening to this might want to watch it again. And she realises something massive, and I'm like, oh, wow. Oh, fuck, okay. So that's what this TV show is about. It was quite a bit, you know, I'm like, oh, it's very good.

9:25Keyzie:Well, as I say, it did very well at the time. What's the next best New Zealand? It went to Australia, because I remember my brother getting a hold of it when he was over there, and yeah, it was huge. Very successful.

9:37Mike Minogue:What's the next best, not best, but another iconic series? Have we made another one that iconic? Like not just a comedy, it's a proper drama. If you know what I mean? Yeah. Close to home. PlaySchool. PlaySchool. 3.45 Live. You would have liked that one, Jase, with Felicity Bathfield. Yeah, that was great. And Old Mate there, what's his name there that was on it as well? You remember his name there I'm looking at his face Ah fuck What else is he doing? He's not Gascoigne He's a presenter And ended up going over to I'll tell you what he ended up doing He went over to the UK And presented a lot of daytime UK TV Was a massive massive star

10:22Keyzie:Schofield? Yes Yes Philip Schofield Oh my god Yes And he's huge now He was massive And he recently came out as homosexual That's right Did he? He did Oh okay and I don't know if there was any kind of a drama around it. I think he was all right. I think he just came out. No harm, no foul. Yeah, totally. There's a few of them over there who have had some shocking revelations. Yeah, so he was a Kiwi.

10:48Mike Minogue:Citizenship, United Kingdom, New Zealand. Oh, my goodness. Look at him. Hot stuff. Wasn't he? Very good, wasn't he? Yeah. Wasn't – now, this could be completely incorrect, but didn't his brother or someone to do with that show did something a bit fucking... A bit... No, I don't want to say it. Just make something up, man. We'll back you. Nah, nah, I think I've got the wrong guy here. Fucking hell, I did not know he was a New Zealand citizen. That's so cool. Because he's beloved in the UK.

11:20Keyzie:Yeah.

11:22Mike Minogue:He's done very well.

11:24Keyzie:Do we need to put a disclaimer on this one? I don't think so. No. There's a little bit of filth. Pugs. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's right. The disclaimer with me, what do you just bother? Oh, yeah, no, I was right.

11:37Mike Minogue:His brother, not a good man. Shoggin' bass. Not a good man. That's all G. Well, it's not. It's bad. I just tried to say that's all G like it's, you know, but it's not. Hey, listen to The Big Show, 407 Weekdays Radio. Hodaki, man. I think you really enjoy it. Thanks, mate.
