In short
The hosts banter about early spring weather, upcoming travel to Europe, and “backbone”/legend-style banter, then pivot to listener feedback and a viral video game connection. They also trade food stories (Arancini vs meatballs/Scotch egg confusion), plus minor personal anecdotes (a “date” at a store, vaping vs cigarettes, hot pot).

0:15Keyzie:Oh, g'day fellas. Hello. How's everyone going today? Everyone good? I tell you what, jeez, I'm really excited. We went for a couple of walks today, not big ones, just around the city. and she's warming up, fellas. You reckon? Yeah, totally I do.
0:32Mike Minogue:I went for a walk today just with a T-shirt on.
0:34Keyzie:Yeah, well, that's right. That's pretty cool. It's got spring vibes about it and I'm stoked. Is there anybody that loves falling for an early spring like you, Hoody J? I don't think there is. Every single year we go through this. I know. The early dawn of the warmer season, you get all excited and then you're back. Normally you're already fuming. Yeah. And then it warms up. you're like, yes, you might get a week of good weather. I'm like, man, it's going to turn. It's going to turn. I know. Then it turns again. I know. That's true.
1:06Mike Minogue:Jeff it and Jeff it again. He says spring has sprung, fellas. He does. Every time. That's right. I've never had.
1:13Keyzie:What I actually said was I'm getting spring vibes. I'm not saying it has sprung. Oh, wow. No, but it's fairly warm. You're walking a fine line. But having said that, Mogi, it's been a very mild winter. We can't complain. It's been fucking amazing. It's been a great winter and a few cold snaps, obviously. You wouldn't want to be homeless, as we've discussed. Yes. But I expect there's going to be a fucking shitload of rain. Yeah, I think so too. More than usual. Wet. It's going to be moist. It's going to be a wet bastard. It's going to be moist, fellas. Wet. How was your little date last night? I'll get into it on the show.
1:47Okay. You will? I'd imagine so. We had a date, man. You're not going to not talk about a date.
1:52Mike Minogue:Well, it was kind of just me and Mogey in a store together. Yeah. It wasn't really romantic. It wasn't romantic. Well, I thought it was. Maybe it was.
2:01Keyzie:The pics, they look pretty romantic. Romantic. You came in today. He was hammering the red wines, old Keezy. Yeah, well, of course he was. You see, he spots a red wine, mate. He's straight in there. Straight into the free espresso martinis. Well, Keezy was giving me, when I came in today, sort of 2 a.m. vibes. You know, like things kicked. Your date kicked on. He'd had a few wines.
2:22Mike Minogue:I was at a Noel Eeming store until 2 a.m.
2:24Keyzie:And then there was a spa pool involved.
2:27Mike Minogue:That's right, yeah, in the store.
2:29Keyzie:And maybe a bit of lovemaking. I don't know. I'm just hazarding a guess. I'll just say you're not a million miles away. Yeah, I don't think so. Not a million miles away. Yes.
2:38Mike Minogue:You should have seen because there were mushroom arancinis. There were. And these little like beef cheek croquettes. Yeah, they were all good. And I just said to the waiter, I said, can you just grab all those trays and just tip them on the floor of the bathroom? Yeah. And then I sort of got unchanged just down in my boxes and then just got down on all fours and just started mowing into it. Absolutely gobbling them. How good, man. Gobbling them. Fuck it was good. And the pork belly as well was good. Yeah, the pork belly was good. Yeah, nice.
3:04Keyzie:I had my first Arancini about a month. See, he's not been to Europe. That's why. First name Aaron, last name Arancini. My week off, we were up in old Deer, Matacana there, and my wife bought one at the market, and it was bloody delicious. Was it this big? It was about that big. It was like egg-shaped. It's about 10 centimetres. That's too big. That's not a naricini ball. You're thinking of a Scotch egg. You bought a Scotch egg, man.
3:31Mike Minogue:No, it wasn't a Scotch egg.
3:32Keyzie:You're thinking of a cricket ball. It was from an Italian joint, and it was beautiful. That's too big.
3:37Mike Minogue:But just because it's Italian doesn't make it a naricini. Yeah, it could have been a piece of pizza. Like that big. Was it triangle shaped? No, it was spherical. It was spherical, and you bought it from an Italian place. And what was in it?
3:46Keyzie:And it was rice. Yeah, that's it. That's the bastard. Some sort of beefy sort of thing. It was fucking delicious. He's bought a lasagna.
3:54Mike Minogue:That's a meatball. You bought a meatball there.
3:56Keyzie:With rice in it. Do you guys do your meatballs with rice, do you? The Italians do. They're mad bastards. Oh, wow.
4:02Mike Minogue:Actually, they don't do it with rice. They do it with risotto. Risotto. Fellas, I just want a quick comment on that woman who did the drawings of us all looking like Frankenstein. Yeah. She's from America. Yes. I posted it. She said, thanks. I said, we'll probably talk about you on the show today. She said, I'd be freaking delighted. Hello from New York City. You all simply must visit here. Yeah. That's from Jackie.
4:28Keyzie:That is so lovely, wasn't it? Because I read the blurb and I went, oh, my God, it's from the States for God's. I thought it was a local here. How good?
4:35Mike Minogue:So her and her partner made a video game where you play a trombone, and it's quite a funny game.
4:41Keyzie:You like playing the trombone.
4:43Mike Minogue:You played one last night, didn't you? The front bone. So they're video game developers, and they made this game that went viral because they're listeners of our gaming podcast. Is that how they found it? I don't know. One way or the other. One way. Whether they found mine after listening to this or vice versa. There you go. It'll be good to know, actually, from people out there, because we've got, and we're able to track this, such as the power of podcasting feels, but we've got, like, listeners in Morocco. Wow. A lot of them are Kiwis. Well, probably. Yes. We don't know, but it would be good to hear from people, where are you and how did you find this?
5:20Mike Minogue:That Moroccan, that's a Kiwi.
5:22Keyzie:They love it. Totally. And I've heard from people, you know, that it gives them a taste of home. It does, doesn't it? You know what I mean? Who told you that, Joe? Who told you that, Joe? It sounds like you're making it up. Just fans. That's one of the most far-fetched things I've ever seen. Just fans, man.
5:37Mike Minogue:So someone came up to you and said, it gives me a taste of home. I'll give you a taste of home. No.
5:42Keyzie:No, someone messaged. More than one person has messaged me with that. Everyone's messaged me and saying, hey, everyone out there, Can you just flick Hoity J message on Instagram and just say, it gives me a taste of home.
5:52Mike Minogue:Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Ha, ha, ha. Now that's good listening. And it's live. What are you listening to there? Oh, me? Oh, sorry. I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Right. Four to seven weekdays. Yeah, that's quite specific. And I heart radio. Wado. Cheers. The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.
6:23Keyzie:Someone did come up to me yesterday, however, when I was walking with my wife, and as he walked past, no, he said legend. Did he really? And I get that all the time in town.
6:34Mike Minogue:Fuck you, man. There's a lot of mental health issues in town, though, Josh.
6:38Keyzie:Look, I can't help it. I mean, I'm just me, man. I mean, I can't. I mean, if people want to call me a legend, Who am I to disagree?
6:47Mike Minogue:That's true. Are you a legend, though? Because you clearly ate a meatball. You thought it was an Arancini ball. Does that make you a backbone or an out-of-it count?
6:55Keyzie:Arancini, yeah, no. To be specific about it, my wife bought the Arancini. I sampled it. I was curious.
7:01Mike Minogue:And it was egg-shaped and was about this big?
7:03Keyzie:No, not the size of a rugby ball, Keeley.
7:06Mike Minogue:That's not the size of a rugby ball. That's fucking tiny.
7:10Keyzie:You know about that. An Arancini bowl is normally the size of a meatball, actually.

7:18Mike Minogue:So I'd say slightly bigger, the one I had in Rome, which, Jase, you wouldn't be familiar with. It's a very important city in Italy. Very important city. Why is it important? Well, it's just sort of one of the pillars of the modern world and how our current society operates is thanks to Rome.
7:38Keyzie:An Arancini.
7:40Mike Minogue:Democracy wasn't founded there.
7:42Keyzie:The birthplace of democracy.
7:43Mike Minogue:No, well, Greece had it. Didn't they? The ancient Greeks had democracy. Don't get me started on the Greeks.
7:46Keyzie:When are you guys going back to Europe since it was so amazing?
7:50Mike Minogue:To be honest, Jase, I kind of see New Zealand as being on holiday and Europe being my true home. So I'm currently on holiday. I don't know, actually, Jase, but I'd like to go. Next year. I'm going next year. When you guys, because, of course, people don't know this, but, of course, you guys are going away and old Mogi's going to be holding down the fort. Yeah, man. Like a fucking backbone. Imagine if it was you holding down an actual fort. I'm sure there'd be enough weapons, you know.
8:14Keyzie:It's like, you know, in those war movies where someone gets injured and they're under attack. They're holding down the fort. And they hold the fort and they go, you guys go, you go, and I'll hold them off. And they'll hold them off. Behind cover with a gun. But you're like, I'll beat them off. Yeah. That's what I do, yeah. Because you've got to stick. Like, you guys go away to Europe and I'll stay here and beat them off.
8:36Mike Minogue:So they all break in. They go to kill you. You go, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, what if I beat you all off? With a stick. Yeah. Or my hands. Yes. Anyway, thanks so much for that picture. Yeah, yeah, it's great. It's good stuff.
8:52Keyzie:Did we meet the guy that made the claymation? Oh, we did. The clay pot. We did. I don't think old. Was it Welly? Oh, were you there, Kezzy? It was in Welly, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It was pretty backbone shit, wasn't it?
9:03Mike Minogue:I don't know if I met him, but I love the ashtray. It fucking cracks me up. Yeah, same. Oh, no, I haven't seen it for a long time. I think someone's binned it because nobody else liked it. Jerry and Minaya seem to clear out a lot of our shit. Have you noticed? Well, I don't mind that. Shit like what, though? I like that.
9:18Keyzie:Oh, right. I went into my daughter's room today. Why? Because I was vacuuming. As if. And I found half a cigarette. And I was like, ooh. You were fucking ripped into it, didn't you? Initially, I was fuming. And then you were like, hang on. And then I was like, hang on. Hang about. Win-win for Woody J. And then I chucked it in the bin. Good on you. Yeah.
9:46Mike Minogue:Did you?
9:46Keyzie:Yeah, no, I promise you I did. I haven't had a Dari since Brizzy.
9:51Mike Minogue:Yeah, but you've been hanging off a vape, though. Yeah. Yeah.
9:54Keyzie:But that's fucking good for me. I don't think it is. Yeah. Because the other night I was on the vape, and I didn't go and get ciggies, but I was blasting away on a vape. Yeah. So you're just doing something else that's not. I meant financially. Oh, sure. Okay. I'll take that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know,$10 a week as opposed to... A little bit of cheese. Jeez, I tell you what, it would be$200 a week. You wouldn't get through 230 grams a week. No, no. Packs. I'd get through four packs a week, would you? Yeah. Jeez, that's too many. Yeah, yeah. You'd struggle, though, at your place now, at your apartment there.
10:26Yeah, well, you're not allowed to smoke in there. Yeah. I wonder if people do. Do, yeah, they would.
10:32Keyzie:Smoke inside. Because your window's open. Yeah, but... But people will be looking. Yeah, that's right. It's very visible to the public. But I wonder if you own the place, whether you could do it. Yeah.
10:44Mike Minogue:Probably. Probably. Yeah, I reckon you should be able to. It's your own personal space. But the smoking thing is a fire hazard, though. Yeah, maybe at the apartment block it would be like, no, you can't do that. Yeah. So I guess you'll have to move out. Oh, well. Nah, man. Once you smoke that half a ciggy, it's going to be all over for you, man. Yeah, yeah. Well, that's why I didn't, because it would just trigger me. Yeah. Trigger When are you thinking of giving up the vape again Are we going to save that for like content at some stage
11:13Keyzie:Do a bet or something
11:15Mike Minogue:Yeah
11:18Keyzie:Dunno It's not on my agenda right now Keezy
11:22Mike Minogue:Nah you're all good man It's chill
11:23Keyzie:It's just you know It is what it is
11:25Mike Minogue:How was hot pot last night
11:26Keyzie:Fucking good Good shit
11:28Mike Minogue:We'll ask about it on the show Dude Listen to the big show 4 or 7 weekdays Radio Hold up here Thanks, thanks, thanks.
