1:25Karen Hao:The tech giants are quietly shaping our world, deciding how things will work all while distracting us with shiny new toys. But it's about time to look behind the screen and talk about what's actually happening. Welcome to The Interface, the show that explores how tech is rewiring your week and your world.

1:51Karen Hao:Okay, we're starting a podcast.

1:53Tom Germain:What are we podcasting about, guys?

1:55Nicky Woolf:I'm just happy to be making a podcast.

1:57Karen Hao:I mean, should we tell people who we are first? We should introduce us.

2:02Nicky Woolf:Yeah, probably. Tom, you are our BBC tech columnist. Your recordings have taken on some of the biggest tech companies in the world. And you actually got Facebook to delete over a billion people's facial recognition data, right?

2:12Karen Hao:Well, you know, I do my best. But we've also got Nikki here. Nikki, you've done some of the most acclaimed podcasts about life online. And you're often wandering around in the weirdest neighborhoods of the internet. This is a weird neighborhood.

2:27Nicky Woolf:we are creating a weird neighborhood we're creating a weird neighborhood yeah and karen

2:30Tom Germain:you wrote the defining book on ai unpacking it in a way that's occasionally terrifying but reminding

2:36Karen Hao:us we still always have a say well my argument about technology has always been that every single part of our lives in one way or another every part of world events is on some level a technology story but i think what makes this stuff interesting to everyday people even people who think that they don't care about technology is it is about your life. Yeah, I always find myself

2:59Tom Germain:telling people that like what happens on the internet does not stay on the internet.

3:03Nicky Woolf:100%. And I think it's we're at a moment in time now where you simply cannot not know about technology because it is in many ways the thing that defines our existence now. So boys, what are we going to be talking about each week.

3:18Karen Hao:Well, it's questions like, is AI more accurate when you're nice to it? On certain kinds of math problems, the AI that they were using was more accurate when you asked it to pretend to be a Star Trek character.

3:32Tom Germain:Is online betting changing the outcome of world events?

3:36Nicky Woolf:This is a massive national security issue. Huge. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are data centers in your hometown and do we actually even need them?

3:44Karen Hao:These are facilities that are hundreds of acres. Will Nikki ever learn how to post on TikTok? You've promised to teach me how to post on TikTok. I'll help you out.

3:55Nicky Woolf:And will Tom flew to his devices ever face his biggest fear? Being bored.

4:01Karen Hao:Karen, my life is already so hard. You want me to make myself bored? I don't even know how to do that anymore.

4:07Nicky Woolf:Yeah, exactly.

4:09Karen Hao:If you're in the UK, listen on BBC Sounds. And if you're outside the UK, you can listen to us wherever you get your podcasts or search for The Interface Podcast on YouTube.

4:24Karen Hao:You don't need AI agents, which may sound weird coming from ServiceNow, the leader in AI agents. The truth is AI agents need you. Sure, they'll process, predict, even get work done autonomously. But they don't dream, read a room, rally a team, and they certainly don't have shower thoughts, pivotal hallway chats, or big ideas. People do. And people, when given the best AI platform, they're freed up to do the fulfilling work they want to do. To see how ServiceNow puts AI to work for people, visit servicenow.com.

4:54Tom Germain:The best B2B marketing gets wasted on the wrong people. So when you want to reach the right professionals, use LinkedIn ads. LinkedIn has grown to a network of over 1 billion professionals, including 130 million decision makers. And that's where it stands apart from other ad buys. You can target your buyers by job title, industry, company, role, seniority, skills, company revenue, so you can stop wasting budget on the wrong audience. It's why LinkedIn Ads generates the highest B2B return on ad spend of major ad networks. Spend$250 on your first campaign on LinkedIn Ads and get$250 credit for the next one.

5:28Tom Germain:Just go to linkedin.com slash broadcast. That's linkedin.com slash broadcast. Terms and conditions apply.
