Transcript
Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:09If you could have dinner with three people living, dead, alive, what do you got? Who are the three people you're inviting to dinner? Okay. Three people I'd invite to dinner, let's say Isaac Newton, Donald Trump, and Abraham Lincoln. Who's monopolizing the conversation? I'm not gonna answer that.
0:34Three people who's coming to dinner. Okay, what kind of dinner party are we doing here? Like what are we thinking? What's the vibe? I mean, is it in your kitchen? Right. Is it in my kitchen? We could do that. We could do that. We could do the dining room. We could do outside on the patio. Are your chickens coming? My chickens are definitely going to make an appearance. And my dog, by the way, which the dog we have put away for you, 154 pounds. What kind of dog is it? Newfoundland. Three people. I would say my great grandmother, she went by Mimi. She founded, was part of founding the church that I grew up in.
1:09But my dad and my grandfather talked about her so often and how the way that she conducted them herself and the standards that she set and the way she treated people set the baseline for how and what they taught us. So I think that that would be fascinating, obviously, to be able to sit with her and learn those things firsthand. And then you said it doesn't matter who they are. I mean, I think you always have to go with Ronald Reagan because he's just such a fascinating figure when you look back in time and what he was able to accomplish and where he came from and also how he's perceived today.
1:50And so we'd love to like dig in and ask him some questions there. And then third person, do you have any suggestions on anybody you feel like would pair well? My three people are going to be wildly different. Wildly different. Wildly different. like I'm going Queen Victoria because she's like the grandmother of all of all Europe and so I'm very fascinated by that conversation to be like where did this come from right yeah I think you're going with the grandmother theme but yeah I'm gonna do that and then I think I would let I would rotate the third seat and let my children come in and out so they'd have the opportunity to experience and ask questions too that's lovely yeah alright you know I'd go with like Steve Jobs Roosevelt
2:41Charles Eames and I hope we're just enjoying like some good pepperoni pizza is that because your mom never let you eat it? yes what's your favorite pizza? I mean that's it no but like from where? are you like ordering from a specific place are you making it yourself? oh there's a pizza place in Yonville, California, in Napa Valley that makes the greatest pizza. Charlie Kirk. And right now, since I'm sitting with you, you and Sergio Gore, I think. Because Sergio, the last time I saw Charlie a couple weeks ago, he was with Sergio and they were so very close. And I just think, you know, there are always things you want to say to people, obviously.
3:35That's why call somebody, talk to somebody you haven't talked to in a while. But I think Charlie would be eating whatever he wanted to eat. I would want to sit there with Charlie and just know his vision for what he wanted to see. That's right. So we could all do it together. And you know, he's looking down from heaven and he's watching it. He's watching what Erica is about to do, a turning point. and Benny Johnson and JD and all these incredible people who are gonna take the torch and run with it. If you could host a dinner party with three people, dead or alive, who's sitting at the table, and what are you eating?
4:12Oh, Maya Angelou, Einstein. The third one, you know, is always tough for me. It's always rude. Those are my two sort of regulars, but it depends on, like, the mood I'm in. So now I would have to say Ozzy. I'd like to see Ozzy again that bummed me out that was very sad even though he did have a huge incredible life I also think that would be so interesting to watch talk to Ozzy Osbourne what were we eating oh my god whatever we want if I get to have those three guests I'm sure that the calories don't count at this dinner right no so for sure french fries for sure red wine for sure peanut butter.
4:56I love peanut butter. Peanut butter, red wine, hot sauce is important. As I mentioned, french fries, some sort of like ice cream situation. And I think that's all we need. Oh, what am I eating? Okay. So I think if I were to pick three people, I tend to like trailblazers. So one would definitely be Abraham Lincoln, because I think he changed the country and he's a trailblazer for our country in many, many wonderful ways. The second would actually be FDR. I know that he was a really longstanding president. He also was a trailblazer from an economic perspective. He took the country out of the Depression.
5:37So I would definitely ask him, how did he do that? And how did he have the fortitude to make some big decisions? And obviously, he navigated through World War II, which is a defining moment in our history. And then, honestly, the third person would be Sally Ride, because she was the first female astronaut to go into space. And when I was a kid, I remember her going to space. And I thought she was the coolest woman ever. And she was a trailblazer for sure for women. So those would be the three very different conversations. What we'd have for dinner though, honestly I would basically make a Thanksgiving dinner.
6:07Cause it's the one dinner where I make the entire dinner. Thanksgiving is my day of cooking. So I would make Thanksgiving dinner. Are you team moon or Mars? Should we go to first? We have to go to the moon before we can go to Mars. So I'd say the moon, let's go to the moon. okay so if i were to have a dinner party and i would host gosh oh my god i would love to have and i know this is not the most profound answer but i my ancestors are absolutely incredible because the fight that they had in them and i even look at it with my father without the education and everything else so i would love to have my grandfather there I would love to have my grandma there.
6:51I would love to have my children. Listen to the wisdom. We don't listen to the wisdom of our elders. The way we, I mean, what's at their disposal is incredible. And I also think what's happening in the world and all of the mechanics that are out there in the world, we have opportunity now that we never had before. What an amazing time to be my kid's age. What an amazing time. So to have somebody that's really to have my ancestors there, my great grandfather, my great grandmom, and to have somebody like Elon Musk or someone that's really high in tech, that would be the best dinner party ever. Mind-blowing experience to say we have like a starship going to Mars and, you know, someone from the past.
7:38Mind-blowing. I mean, so to me, that old new wisdom would be the best dinner party ever. and I would have seven fishes. I would have a really healthy pasta there. I mean, it would be so joyous. I mean, to me, dinner parties are my favorite way to spend time when it's not work. And I have them often. Oh, dead or alive. Oh, Jesus, definitely. I have questions and he does too of me. Jesus Christ, my grandmother, Antoinette. and I'll pick one. What are we eating? I would say for that, we would eat a whole array of things. I would say the table would be filled. It'd be more like a buffet. It'd have to be more like a buffet.
8:26I'm a condiment queen. I love a lot of stuff on tomato sauce, probably. I put it on everything though. I mean, I put it on everything. I probably have like six, seven condiments on a thing. So we call it gravy at home because we were Italian. So yeah, that would be, I would really, I was very close to my grandmother's, but my maternal grandmother helped raise me in the house. And it's when she died, I didn't even cry because we had that kind of relationship where we had said everything I wanted her to the very last moment. I, she, her kidneys were failing. And I called this guy who I'd gone out on a date with and he was a nephrologist.
9:04He was studying to be at the time and I called him and he said, oh, it's so great to hear from you. I'm like, I'm sorry I never called you back. Like last year, year and a half ago, I said, but my grandma's kidneys are failing. Can you help me? I wanted her to, so I had nothing more to say or do then because we had such a beautiful, honest, loving relationship of 32 years. But now that I've been a mom and now that I've been married and now that I'm in my late fifties, I would want to talk to her all over again and get her unbelievable advice. So one of her daughters, my Aunt Rita, is still with us, and my cousins, like I said, her other grandchildren are with us.
9:42But that would be it. And Jesus, I feel very at peace with being a Roman Catholic, but I'm a flawed one, raising four flawed ones. And I think I would actually want to hear directly from the source how we're, you know, if you had the founding fathers here today, they'd say, do you believe the way they're interpreting the Constitution or not? I think I would do the same with Jesus about the Bible, and I would do the same about the modern Catholic religion. Oh, God. Of course, God. I mean, I mean, come on. You would say, like, Jesus, of course. I think my father, because he died when I was 11. I'd love him to be there.
10:25And my mom died recently. I'd love to see my mom again. So maybe my dad and my mom and Jesus. That'd be fun. And we just drink wine and eat bread, olive oil. I don't care about really the food as much as picking at stuff. So maybe some cheeses and some salami and some great dessert. Easy food. I'd be all into the conversation. Are you still close with all of your family? Yeah, I'm very close. I mean, unfortunately, we live all across America. but I love my brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, two passed away, two of my brothers. So we're getting smaller, but I still, my sisters are my best friends.
11:07Family's the most important. Yeah, for sure. Yogurt? No. Okay, three people dead or alive. Oh, bitch, oh, baby. Maybe Carol Burnett.
11:25and Maya Angelou and do we need a guy? No it doesn't matter it's my fantasy and my grandmother Ruth. And what are you eating? Hmm we are eating uh french fries with um old bay season. And we're eating, I don't know, I think Italian pizza and having dirty martinis. Okay, it'd be my mother-in-law, my dad, and my grandma. And I would cook for them. What would you cook? Probably my butternut squash soup and homemade focaccia bread and like a roast chicken, French roast chicken or something. And for dessert, we would have some kind of pound cake because my dad loved pound cake. Yeah, that's what we would do.
12:48Who is at my table and what am I eating? This sounds like a question that I would ask in an interview for our cheerleaders. You've seen some of those too. Well, I would say, who would be there? I would have Elvis Presley, definitely. Charlton Heston, because everybody needs a little Moses at their table. And then I'm gonna pick Taylor Swift in there. I think she's like stunning and amazing and powerful and a great representation of what young women's dreams can look like when they work hard. What are you eating? And I am going to eat. I'm going to have to have it catered because I'm a terrible cook.
13:33So, you know, maybe a little like breaded veal, you know, melanes, that direction and a really good pasta. I think I'm gonna go that direction. Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln. Those are my two favorites. And I'll put George Patton on the list. And I'm eating whatever they want to eat. I don't care about food. Can we say Jesus? Yes, you can, dead or alive. But you're both gonna answer separately. Okay, well obviously Jesus and George Washington.
14:13and I guess Lincoln. I'm very American-centric, aren't I? It's okay. Yeah. Which is so crazy because you got two of mine. Really? See what you think of. Jesus, George Washington, but my third. Help me, who's my third? Abigail Adams? Yeah. Yeah, I think it would be Abigail Adams. And what are you eating? and what are we eating?
14:45Well, probably, well I would say I would choose my favorite food, Mexican food. It's my favorite, so yeah. I'd have something healthy, fish-based, you know, Jesus and George Washington and such. So, salmon, probably salmon. Well, at this point I think it would be President Trump, Vladimir Putin and Zelensky. and see what happens. See what happens. What are we eating? Ooh, what are we eating? I'm no comment on that. Whatever, steaks, you know? Just whatever the president wants, and we'll see what happens. There'd be a dinner for peace. There'd be steaks, well done, french fries. Done. And Russian dressing?
15:24Yes. Or Thousand Island dressing on salad? Yes. Love it. Which I didn't ever used to keep in my fridge, but since he's been in D.C., it's a staple. He has so much at the White House. Because we have him at the lunch. You know that. Every one Thousand Island Dressing. I love it. And now that's what I have. So I'm a Thousand Island Dressing person. I've always been. So this is like, it's glorious. It is. It's the heyday. All right. And we close on this question every episode. If you could host a dinner party with three people, dead or alive, who's coming to dinner and what are you eating? Maybe Shakespeare, Ben Franklin, Nikola Tesla.
16:03I mean, there's actually a lot of people I'd like to, I would have liked to have talked to. And we'll eat, I guess, whatever they'd like.
16:14I think if this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, I think you'd want to have some epic 12-course meal or something like that. Feast. Yeah. Yeah. You want to go all out for that dinner, I think. You're probably not going to serve cheeseburgers. Unless they want it. Yeah. Maybe one of the courses could be like a tiny cheeseburger. Those don't taste as good as the big ones. No, but they could. It's just they don't try. You could make a tiny cheeseburger taste just as good as a big cheeseburger if you try it. Have you ever had a tiny cheeseburger that actually tastes good? Rare, but yes. Okay. 1 % of the time.
16:57Fair. But usually it's too much bread and it's dry. Correct. Yeah. And then there's not enough meat in proportion to the bread. Yeah. Yeah. But could you make a tiny cheeseburger that's good? Of course. Like, you're not breaking, you know, like, you don't even know a prize for this. You can definitely make a tiny cheeseburger. It's like physically possible, I'm saying. It's just rare. Okay, I would pick Ronald Reagan, my papa. I know I'm not a celebrity, but my grandfather met the most in the world to me. And he knows everything about history. And he's the reason that I got into loving and appreciating history and veterans.
17:39He was a veteran, all that stuff. I could talk about my papa forever, so I will move on. third one is hard because that was kind of as far as I got in my head I don't know who my third would be but we'd be eating my papa loves like very simple meals like roast chicken mashed potatoes and so we'd eat what he likes because he gets to pick over Ronald Reagan sorry well I'm gonna answer it but it's gonna break your rules you're just gonna have to live with it okay fine the 1980 men's Miracle on Ice hockey team. And we would be eating Chicken Parm Heroes from my favorite deli on Long Island. Is that like Chicken Parm and everything else?
18:20Or is Chicken Parm Heroes just like a sub restaurant? It's a sandwich, yeah. Okay. Who would you have for dinner? Oh gosh, I've never thought of this and I've asked everybody.
18:33I'd want to do like, right now, it'd probably be Julius Caesar, Cleopatra
18:43and my grandpa oh I love that I miss my grandpa a lot he recently passed and him and I were very very close but right now I'm listening to an awesome series about Julius Caesar and Cleopatra and man would I have loved to have been alive then to hear their relationship and how Egypt and Rome worked together around that time and how leadership worked and how they were able to form these coalitions because I think a lot of what happened during the Roman times is a lot of how society functions today. I agree. And there's so many lessons there. Wow. So that's who I'd have to know right now. I like it.
19:19I like it a lot. And I would say, like, we should eat whatever they want to eat, but, like, no, I'm a diehard pizza fanatic. Right. So probably a few different types of pizza. Oh, I love that. And they probably really enjoy that. Because, like, as much as I'd love to say I'm a carnivore, right now meat just totally makes me sick. And so just stick with pizza. Yeah, there you go.
