And I'm going to talk to you about why.
20Hey, what's up? It's Marie Forleo and welcome to another episode of the Marie Forleo podcast and MarieTV, the place to be to create a business and life you love. Now today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite marketing strategies literally of all time, like my favorite. Now, you might have heard me say this phrase before, especially if you watch the show or you listen a lot. And if you are a member of my team, oh my goodness, you'd probably hear me say this multiple times a week. That's how much I love it. Here's the phrase and the strategy, and I want you to write this down because it's so important.
52Ready? Facts tell, stories sell. So I'm going to say it one more time to make sure you get it. Facts tell, stories sell. And here are three reasons why this is so true. So reason number one, stories create trust. So how is that, you might be asking? So stories create this instant emotional connection with your audience. And an emotional connection is really the foundation of trust. And guess what? Trust is essential for sales in your business. translation. When somebody trusts you, they are way, way, way more likely to buy from you. I want you to take a woman named Tanya Winchester, who is a naturopathic doctor, as an example.
35So Tanya is one of my CopyCure students. And for those of you who don't know, the CopyCure is our flagship writing program. It's really a course. And guess what? It's actually open for registration today. And in that course, we actually go very deep on how to use stories to sell. But back to Tanya's story. So before the CopyCure, she was getting either zero or maybe just one new patient a week to her practice. Now, after taking the program and really honing her storytelling ability, she said this, Besides personal referrals, my website is now my main source of patience. Now I get an average of three to four new patients a week, and 80 % of them say, being on your website was like looking in a mirror, or I knew you could help me when I was on your website, or it's like you were talking exactly to me.
22That's because Tanya learned how to tell stories in a very specific way. She learned how to create that instant trust, and it quadrupled the number of new patients coming to her business every single week. That's pretty powerful, right? I mean, just think about that for a second. How would your life change? How would your business change if you could quadruple the number of customers coming into your business every week? It's amazing. So moving on now to reason number two. So stories help you sell at a premium, meaning they help you charge what you're worth. So a lot of business owners get scared these days, and it's understandable.
56And what they do is they keep lowering their prices in order to attract new customers, especially in today's economy, right? But what if by telling better stories and creating that deeper emotional connection with your audience, it actually made your ideal customers excited to do business with you, even if you charge more than everybody else. And that's exactly what happened with Mai De Leon, who's this incredible artist in the Philippines. So she wrote to us and she said, I teach hand lettering and art courses, which are typically difficult to position with a high price point. The copy cure taught me how to write better sales pages, and I sold over$50 ,000 during my very first course launch.
39Now, I just want to underscore the point right here, right? So rather than getting scared, rather than lowering her prices or feeling like she has to sell for less, Mai got smart. Instead, she learned how to use the right words and tell the right stories that would allow her to effortlessly charge what she's really worth. And finally, reason number three, stories can help you stand out in an uber-crowded marketplace. Look, we all know this right now, right? The internet is flooded with competition. It is more fierce than ever before. I mean, every single platform out there, every industry, we're all inundated with tons of options, tons of content, tons of things we could buy.
20It's really crowded out there right now. And I don't know if there's any more crowded marketplace on the planet than Amazon.com. You know, I did a little search and one source puts it at over 350 million different items to choose from. I mean, how the hell are you supposed to stand out there, right? Well, guess what? one of our CopyCure students used what we taught her about the power of storytelling to capture the attention of her buyers, yes, on Amazon. Charlene, who's an author, told us this. She said, the month before I changed my Amazon description, I sold three copies of my book. The month after I took the CopyCure and changed my description, I sold 46.
01What? I mean, do you realize that? That's like 15 times more book sales just from changing her words and telling better stories. I am telling you this. Trust me here. In our hectic, information-overloaded world, stories have the power to capture attention, right? They can help you sell more effortlessly, add a premium, and they can give you this massive edge in the marketplace. Now look, I gotta be honest. There is an art to doing this, right? There is some science, There's a little nuance to make this work really elegantly and effectively in your business.
