If the Iranians comply with his deal, it is going to fundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 years. President Trump announcing a new ceasefire agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as details of the deal begin to emerge. And we were able to identify where he was and kill him, just like we would kill al-Qaeda or ISIS. The notorious founder of Tren de Aragua killed inside Venezuela in a joint operation with America. President Trump's name removed from the Kennedy Center after a federal judge rules the board never had the authority to put it there in the first place.

1:06And a first-of-its-kind UFC fight on the White House lawn brings exactly the drama one might expect. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM update.

President Trump coming to a new agreement with Iran last night to extend the ceasefire and begin a new round of negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program, while ordering the removal of the U.S.

2:38naval blockade on Iran and, with Iran's agreement, preparing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after the deal is formally signed on Friday. The president writing on Truth Social that the agreement will bring, quote, peace and security to the whole region, adding that the Strait will reopen Friday following mine removal operations, allowing oil to once again flow freely through the critical shipping route, something it was doing prior to the U.S. launching this war. The breakthrough coming after months of difficult negotiations and on a day in which the emerging agreement appeared to be on the verge of collapse.

3:14Israel launching an attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday, despite Iran demanding that any agreement with the U.S. also end the fighting in Lebanon, which Israel says was in retaliation for more attacks by Hezbollah in the region. Follow that? The strike prompting the Iranians to raise the possibility that the regime could walk away from the negotiations. President Trump reportedly calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the attack, expressing his frustration in blunt terms. Here was the direct quote Mr. Trump gave to Axios, colorful language included. Quote, Why did Bibi have to do a fucking attack?

3:53I was so pissed off, I let him know. He has no fucking judgment. I let him know that. The president separately telling Fox News he asked Netanyahu, quote, What the fuck are you doing? Instructing the prime minister not to conduct any additional strikes. President Trump then publicly calling on all sides to stand down, writing on Truth Social, quote, There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. Adding, quote, This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace. Let's not blow it.

4:27Hours later, Pakistani Prime Minister Shabazz Sharif announcing that the U.S. and Iran had reached an agreement following negotiations mediated by Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Sharif writing on X, quote, both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The agreement expected to be formally signed this Friday in Switzerland following technical meetings between the two sides throughout the week. Vice President J.D. Vance appearing on Fox shortly after the announcement, outlining what the administration describes as the agreement's three major achievements.

5:06Three things that I think are important for the American people just to appreciate about what this deal does for all of us as Americans. Number one, this is the immediate opening of the Straits of Hormuz and, of course, the lifting of the naval blockade that we've had on Iran along with it. The number two thing that it means is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon and not just pursue a nuclear weapon, but procure or try to buy a nuclear weapon as well. That's built into this agreement. And then the third thing is, and this only happens, to be clear, if Iran delivers on their promise. And so there's an approach here where we verify and where there are real benefits so long as Iran meets their end of the obligation.

5:47But if the Iranians comply with this deal, it is going to fundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 years. It's going to end the war. It's going to make the Middle East more investable. It's going to mean a lot of prosperity, lower energy prices for the American people. That's a very, very big win, and it all happened because the president stuck with it. One Iranian state broadcaster declaring, quote, the U.S. was forced to accept an end to the war. Despite the sweeping declarations from both sides, the complete terms of the agreement not yet publicly released. The New York Times reporting the agreement reached Sunday is essentially an extension of the current ceasefire for another 60 days, with the most difficult questions surrounding Iran's nuclear program and U.S.

6:29sanctions deferred to the next phase of negotiations. The Wall Street Journal reporting Iran is seeking major economic concessions in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program, including access to billions of dollars frozen overseas and an end to sanctions that have stifled the country's economy. Secretary of War Pete Hegsep yesterday on CBS discussing several ways the U.S. could remove or destroy Iran's enriched uranium, another point of contention apparently not addressed in this deal yet. Ultimately, Iran will need to destroy it and remove it, downblend it, and we will be involved, whether physically or otherwise, to ensure that that happens.

7:11Could be the U.S. military, could be another option. I think our negotiators, our world-class negotiators are going to have a lot of options. The U.S. military is good at these types of things, so is the Energy Department, and so working with the Iranians to ensure it's destroyed and removed and their program is dismantled will be center. Well, it's an important point for those who are members of the U.S. military to understand whether you are saying ground troops would be involved in cleaning up nuclear dust? You're saying that. You're trying to put words on the mouth to create a headline. What I'm saying is we have plans.

7:43No, we have plans for everything. And should the president need a compel option, we have compel options and many different types of compel options. But right now, we've set the conditions for 60 days to ensure that that material is downblended, destroyed or removed whatever the president decides is in the best interest of the United States of America. And the War Department is there to support that effort. President Trump announcing on Friday a joint U.S.-Venezuelan strike killing the founder and longtime leader of the Trenda Aragua gang, Hector Nino Guerrero Flores, inside Venezuela. The president posting to Truth Social, quote, the U.S.

8:22Southern Command delivered a swift and lethal kinetic strike to successfully execute Nino Guerrero, calling Trenda Aragua, quote, one of the most bloodthirsty terrorist organizations on planet Earth. Accompanying the post-video appearing to show the strike from overhead. A sudden flash of flames followed by a burst of thick black smoke filling the screen. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirming the strike took place earlier in the week at a Trenda Aragua compound, with Venezuelan security forces assisting in the operation. The cooperation marking a shift in the relationship between Washington and Venezuela.

8:58In January, U.S. forces carrying out a pre-dawn military raid that captured then-Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, bringing them to the U.S. to face federal charges. Maduro since pleading not guilty, his former VP, Delce Rodriguez, taking over as acting president, with her government since pursuing a more cooperative relationship with the Trump administration. That new relationship allowing American forces to operate inside Venezuela alongside the country's own security services, with the New York Times reporting the CIA supplied the intel that led to Guerrero's location and the eventual strike, citing a senior admin official.

9:38The strike ending a nearly three-year international manhunt for the gang leader, who built his criminal empire from inside one of Venezuela's most notoriously lawless prisons while serving time for murder and drug trafficking. Trenda Aragua expanding far beyond Venezuela into other parts of Latin America, the U.S., and even Europe. The DOJ accusing the organization of operating as a multinational crime syndicate involved in drug and weapons trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, human smuggling, sexual exploitation, and murder. In 2024, the State Department offering a reward of up to$5 million for information leading to Guerrero's arrest or conviction.

10:20In December of last year, federal prosecutors in Manhattan charging Guerrero with racketeering conspiracy, terrorism, drug importation, and firearms offenses. Then U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, describing Guerrero as, quote, the mastermind of Trenda Aragua's evolution from a Venezuelan prison gang into a transnational terrorist organization that committed countless acts of violence, extortion, and drug trafficking. Secretary Hegseth asked yesterday why the administration chose to kill Guerrero rather than capture him and bring him to the U.S. to face those charges.

10:57We've shown we can do that when we did it with Nicolas Maduro. And because of that, it created the conditions where in partnership with the Venezuelan government, this is a huge deal. I mean, they invited our military in because they have a foreign terrorist organization on their soil in Trendy, Aragua, the founder and leader, and we were able to identify where he was and kill him, just like we would kill al Qaeda or ISIS. And we did in the Middle East. We treat these foreign terrorist organizations the same way, just like we do with drug boats when we identify they're run by those FTOs. So that was a great development.

11:28I mean, think about that. President Trump had the foresight to seize Maduro, change the relationship. We have a totally different energy dynamic around the world. By the way, the way energy flows today, the straits will be nowhere near as relevant one to two years from now because of the foresight of President Trump. He's made us energy independent at home. We're a net exporter. Now Venezuela through our partnerships. Now we're killing foreign terrorist leaders who have terrorized the American people. The amount of drugs and gangs that came from China and the United States of America. Yeah, energy prices are pretty high right now.

11:57It's a huge deal. Coming up, the Kennedy Center stripping President Trump's name from its facade after a judge finds Congress never gave the board the power to rename the institution. And UFC Freedom 250 taking over the White House and Washington, D.C.

President Trump's name coming off the Kennedy Center early Saturday morning, less than six months after it went up, with a federal judge ruling the institution's board had no legal authority to rename the National Performing Arts Center in President Trump's honor. Crews assembling scaffolding Friday and covering the work area with tarps, but thunderstorms delaying the work beyond the judge's original 11.59 p.m.

13:57deadline. The court then granting the center a brief extension until noon Saturday. A small crowd gathering outside to watch, including former CNN host Jim Acosta, who treated the removal of several metal letters like the collapse of Soviet communism. This is very much like watching the Berlin Wall coming down. It is a sign that mankind, that humankind can stand up against tyranny. Yes, Jim, just like the Berlin Wall. By Saturday morning, Kennedy Center president and executive director Matt Floca notifying the court that the name had been removed. The fight beginning in the opening weeks of President Trump's second term when he overhauled the center's leadership, replacing multiple trustees, and was personally elected chairman by the newly constituted board.

14:48In December, the board voting to rename the institution the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. Democrat Congresswoman from Ohio Joyce Beatty, who holds a seat on the board because of her position in Congress, later suing after she was stripped of her voting rights and the center was renamed over her objection. Congresswoman Beatty arguing Congress established the center as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, and that the board could not unilaterally give it a new name. Late last month, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee, siding with Ms.

15:25Beatty. Ruling the law establishing the center makes, quote, crystal clear that it must be named for Kennedy and cannot carry another formal name based solely on the board's decision. Judge Cooper, writing, quote, Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name and only Congress can change it. The Kennedy Center now appealing the ruling with Justice Department lawyers representing the institution warning the removal could put major private donations at risk, claiming agreements with some donors require Trump's name to remain in the center's official branding. Also caught up in the legal fight, President Trump's plan to close the Kennedy Center for roughly two years for extensive renovations.

16:05President Trump maintaining the building is in such poor condition that a full closure is necessary to complete the renovations properly rather than attempting the work while performances continue. Judge Cooper acknowledging the building badly needs repairs, but temporarily blocking the closure after finding the board approved Mr. Trump's plan without adequately examining the consequences of shuttering the institution. Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma de Ravi telling Axios the center is, quote, confident that on appeal, the court will uphold the board's will to recognize President Trump's historic contributions to our nation's cultural center.

16:43A full weekend of UFC Freedom 250 festivities taking over the White House and Washington, D.C., all building toward last night's unprecedented UFC fight on the South Lawn. President Trump hosting UFC Freedom 250 as part of the celebration leading up to America's 250th birthday, with fight night also falling on Flag Day and on President Trump's 80th birthday. About 4 ,000 invited guests gathered inside the White House grounds, while roughly 85 ,000 tickets were made available for fans watching from the ellipse. Before the first punch could be thrown, one final effort to knock out the entire event, two Virginia residents challenging the administration's decision to hold the festivities on federal property, arguing officials had bypassed required legal and environmental reviews.

17:33On Friday, U.S. District Judge Ahmet Mehta, an Obama appointee, rejecting their emergency request to block the event, clearing the way for the weekend to proceed. The festivities beginning Friday night with a press conference featuring the fighters at the Lincoln Memorial. Undefeated lightweight champion Ilya Teporia facing interim champion and longtime fan favorite Justin Gagey with the championship belt on the line. Teporia shoving Gagey during their face-off with Honest Abe looking on from behind, prompting this response. Look where we're at. Look at this beautiful view. You want to act like a fucking animal?

18:14By Saturday, the action moving from verbal sparring to motorcycles flying over the White House lawn. Extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana joined by fellow riders on a freestyle motocross exhibition on the South Lawn. Across the street, thousands of fans turning out for the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest on the Ellipse, with temperatures climbing into the 90s. Later in the evening, the ceremonial weigh-in opening with a bald eagle soaring over the crowd before the seven pairs of fighters stepped onto the scale against the backdrop of the White House and the Washington Monument. The Zac Brown Band closing out the night with a concert.

18:54By Sunday morning, one final opponent standing between the fighters and the octagon. Mother Nature. The Weather Channel forecasting a 60 % chance of thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours, wind gusts reaching 34 miles per hour, and a threat of excessive mosquitoes. The massive 92-foot structure covering the octagon designed to protect the fighters from the rain, but event protocols requiring a 30-minute pause each time lightning strikes within eight miles of the White House. UFC President Dana White on Friday making clear that rain alone would not stop the fights. Listen, the show goes on on Sunday no matter what happens.

19:31We're going. So if it rains, snows, whatever happens, we have a fight on Sunday. So I'm sick and tired of hearing about the weather now and all the other bullshit surrounding this event. We are fighting on Sunday night on the White House lawn, no matter what. By Sunday afternoon, the UFC offering fans a more cautious message. The organization posting to X, quote, the gates for UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest are opened as scheduled. We anticipate inclement weather in the area, so attendees should plan accordingly. Then finally, fight night. Thousands of fans filling the ellipse Sunday evening, USA chants carrying across the grounds as the crowd waited for the action to begin, the weather briefly interrupting the evening before the fighters were cleared to enter the octagon.

20:19Ultimately, Gagey defeating Teporia, handing the previously undefeated champion his first professional loss and claiming the lightweight title. Inside the octagon, the new champion taking in the moment. I told myself I was going to lose. I told myself I was going to get embarrassed so that I can go to my most primal place and dig deep. And I had to, that guy had me in trouble. He had me rocked in the, rocked my chin, smoked my liver, and I stuck in it and look at my face. I got some thick ass skin. I'll tell you that something's wrong with my face. A first of its kind fight night now part of American history.

20:59And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly. Join me back here for the MK show live on Sirius XM's The Megan Kelly Channel 111 at noon east on youtube.com slash Megan Kelly and on all podcast platforms.
