California Governor Gavin Newsom just issued a powerful video response after the news that Donald Trump's DOJ has launched a criminal investigation into Newsom and into the first partner into California Governor Gavin Newsom's wife.

2:43Ben Meiselas:Now, Governor Newsom is out there saying we have nothing to hide. This is more of Donald Trump weaponizing the DOJ. Newsom says that he and the first partner of California are not afraid and they will fight this head on and that they will stand up and that this doesn't scare them at all. Here's what California Governor Gavin Newsom said. He goes, Today my wife and I joined Donald Trump's hit list. He has directed his Department of Justice to investigate us. They have not found a crime. They are simply trying to find one. He isn't coming after me because of mean tweets, but because I am considering running for president.

3:22Ben Meiselas:He hates that I consistently call him out. He is simply the most corrupt president in American history. We have nothing to hide. Mr. President, come after me. I am not going anywhere. The country is watching. Now, a person familiar with the matter confirmed to the New York Times that there are multiple federal criminal investigations underway relating to Governor Newsom, including one looking at his wife's finances, his wife's nonprofits. The person says, no, this is not being initiated by Trump and the feds in DC. This is being done independently from California's United States Attorney's Office, which I know we all know isn't true, but that's what they're saying.

4:10Gavin Newsom:In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends, and former employees, not because they found a crime, because they're simply trying to find one. They're demanding records. They're abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents. Donald Trump isn't just coming after me because of my mean tweets. He's coming after me because I'm considering running for president, because he hates that I've consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history. He's turned the levers of government into his own personal power ministries to reward cronies and to try to jail his opponents.

4:57Gavin Newsom:His personal attorney now runs the Department of Justice, which has repeatedly gone after his political enemies. Ask Jerome Powell sent them after James Comey, Trish James, Adam Schiff. He sent them after Tim Walz and a woman that a jury found Donald Trump had sexually abused. One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list. And today, I proudly join that list. After calling for my arrest last year, Donald Trump directed his Department of Justice to investigate me. And just in the last week, I've learned that his campaign has reached my own home. To get me, he's coming after my wife, Jen, a public servant, A woman who's dedicated her life to supporting women and girls.

5:48Gavin Newsom:Someone who has done nothing wrong other than having the temerity to advocate for what she believes in. If they can't intimidate me, they'll go after the mother of our children. Donald Trump picked the wrong target. We have nothing to hide. His political operatives can take every record and read every page, but they'll be looking in the wrong place. Because if they really want to find corruption, look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Donald Trump is selling the presidency. He's running the largest cash heist in American political history, trading foreign tariff relief for approval of his golf courses, day trading behind the Resolute Desk, reaping hundreds of millions of dollars in personal profit.

6:37Gavin Newsom:And he's doing it openly. He's doing it on camera. He did it last night on the White House lawn. He's doing it through cryptocurrencies. He's doing it through the receipt of a$400 million private jet from a foreign government that he plans to keep when he leaves office. Through his son's ventures in countries where his own administration is simultaneously making policy. His personal fortune has skyrocketed by$4 billion since making his return to office. This is the behavior of a regime, not a republic. The White House has become a marketplace, a marketplace for sneakers and coins and watches, cologne, guitars, Bibles, and phones, influence for sale, access for sale.

7:26Gavin Newsom:And today, my family and I can personally confirm that justice is for sale. To Donald Trump, who I know is watching because he watches everything, I have a message for you. You can subpoena my records. You can investigate me. You can harass me. Put my name on every and any enemies list you have. But leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta. I'd like to say something to my wife. These times are not normal. They're not ordinary. I love you, and I'm sorry he's doing this. You have not earned a single one of the indignities that he's trying to inflict on you and our children. And to Donald Trump, this country does not belong to you.

8:16Gavin Newsom:It does not belong to your cronies. And we're going to fight your lawlessness. and we're going to continue to remind the people of this country of your corruption. That same corruption our founders warned us against as we move to celebrate our 250th anniversary. I'm gonna keep reminding Americans of what they warned would happen if a man with no character ever held the office of presidency. So let me say it again. Mr. President, come after me. I'm not going anywhere. and the country is watching.

Now, before we learned about this criminal investigation launched by the Trump regime into Newsom, California Governor Gavin Newsom posted the following image. 80 years old. California Governor Gavin Newsom says Trump is using the White House to promote companies he holds stock in and enrich himself. Newsom says, true. We learned from a report earlier today from CBS that in quarter one, Trump traded between $250 million to close to$700 million in stocks in that quarter alone.

11:36Ben Meiselas:Also, Trump bought stock in UFC's parent company as he promoted the fight. Newsom posts the following. Inconvenient truth for Trump administration. The five states with the biggest gas price increases are all Republican-led states. Are those big price increases due to their energy policies? Newsom then posts the following price increases over the last year. Gas is up 41%. Airline fare up 27%. Energy up 24%. tobacco up 8%, fruits and vegetables up 6%, car repair up 6%, clothing costs up 5%. Newsom also posts the following. Trump says, I love inflation. Wow. Trump just admitted he loves it when Americans pay more for the same things that cause less.

12:21Ben Meiselas:And then right before Newsom made that video, he posted the following. When Donald Trump launched his war against Iran, he had no plan for the cataclysmic financial consequences we'd all have to bear. 107 days later. He still has no idea what he's doing. And American families are footing the bill. And he also writes, the White House was built to serve the American people, not to promote a company that Trump owns stock in. Newsom, this may have triggered Donald Trump as well. Newsom brought Hunter Biden to do a show, to do a podcast. And here's what Hunter Biden told Newsom. Let's play it.
