In short

The episode argues that Donald Trump is unlawfully escalating toward a US-Venezuela war via a proposed blockade, as a distraction from domestic political/economic problems (Epstein files, health care cuts, tariffs claims, and FBI/justice controversies). It also criticizes Pete Hegseth for withholding an “unedited” September 2 strike video and for alleged war crimes, citing the resignation of retired four-star Navy Admiral Alvin Holsey after he refused “unlawful orders” tied to Southcom.

Guests

No specific guests are named in the transcript; it references clips from public figures including Admiral Alvin Holsey (retirement context), Pete Hegseth (comments), Alan Dershowitz (alleged Epstein-related claims), Kash Patel (podcast clip), and Stephen Miller’s wife (podcast).

Key claims

Trump’s blockade/armada post equals a de facto declaration of war; Venezuela isn’t a source of fentanyl/cocaine; war would be unauthorized by Congress; Hegseth won’t release full video; Trump and allies are “hiding” information; Coast Guard downgraded swastikas/nooses from “hate symbols.”

Notable examples

Trump’s “total and complete blockade” post; Hegseth quote about not releasing “top secret, full unedited video”; unemployment/job-loss figures cited; mentions of Epstein files; Coast Guard manual change; “golden ballroom” donation claim (~$400 million).

2:17Admiral Alvin Holsey, United States Navy, retired, departing.

2:31Ben Meiselas:The video you just saw and audio you heard is from the retirement of four-star Navy Admiral Alvin Holsey, who was pushed out of his job as the head of Southcom because he refused to follow unlawful orders from Pete Hegseth, who demanded the war crimes that have transpired take place. The shooting of these fishing boats, the double strikes, the entire war crime operation or crime against humanity. And Alvin Holsey is now retired, replaced by people who are willing to go along with the Trump regime's war crimes. War is now all but inevitable between the United States and Venezuela as Donald Trump wants to distract from the release of the Epstein files, which is supposed to take place on Friday, but we know Donald Trump's going to do anything in his power to obstruct, including launch a war.

3:31Ben Meiselas:Also, Donald Trump's desire to distract from the fact that the MAGA Republicans are ripping away the health care of tens of millions of Americans, not offering any extension to the Affordable Care Act subsidies, which is necessary to keep tens of millions of Americans on their Affordable Care Act plans. And Donald Trump's desire to cosplay this authoritarianism that he admires in Vladimir Putin. And so Putin's denazification invasion of Ukraine, not too dissimilar from Donald Trump saying, you know, Venezuela has all of these drugs and they stole our oil and we need to reclaim our oil. There's some differences, of course.

4:17Ben Meiselas:Let me be very clear. Maduro, the dictator of Venezuela, is indeed illegitimate, but that doesn't mean that I support regime change or that I support a full-scale war or war in general without being authorized by Congress, which is actually what's required by law. Now, Donald Trump posted the following. Before I read this post, just a reminder, hit subscribe to the Midas Touch YouTube channel. We're on our way to 6 million subscribers, and you know we're under attack from the Trump regime and state regime media known as Fox. So So please, if you can hit subscribe and help us get to 6 million, you may think you're subscribed, but you may not be actually subscribed.

5:03Ben Meiselas:So here's what Donald Trump writes. Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest armada ever assembled in the history of South America. It will only get bigger until such time as they return to the United States, all of the oil land and other assets that they previously stole from us. What are you talking about? I'm ordering a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers going into and out of Venezuela. And he says a lot more, but he's ordering a blockade, installing this armada there and essentially declaring war. I don't know how else you can describe it. Unlawfully declaring war.

5:43Ben Meiselas:Again, I want to be clear about the facts. When it comes to Maduro being illegitimate, That's accurate. But drugs are not coming into the United States from Venezuela. Certainly fentanyl is not coming in from Venezuela. In fact, cocaine is not coming in to the United States from Venezuela. Now, you can criticize Venezuela for human rights abuses and other things for sure. But that's a case that if you're going to make it, make it to the American people and make it to Congress. And if you were to make that, that's the reason for regime change and for Americans to put boots on the ground and go to war.

6:19Ben Meiselas:Sorry, I think we need a war right now. The American people are suffering right now. OK, and we got the data yesterday about job claims and we see that unemployment ticked up to 4.6 percent in terms of job losses over the past year, up 54 percent. 1.2 million jobs lost. That's like great recession numbers, right? Americans psychologically tortured, living paycheck to paycheck, can't afford rent right now. Things are less affordable. You're launching wars, talking about golden ballrooms, and you're hiding the Epstein files. Everything with this regime is hide, hide, hide. So Pete Hegseth, who's someone who's not admirable at all, who's responsible for Admiral Alvin Holsey, the four-star admiral resigning, which you saw there at the outset, and then Hegseth has engaged in all of these war crimes.

7:18Ben Meiselas:Remember when Donald Trump said that he was going to produce the video of the strike off the coast of Venezuela, the full video, not the part that they just cherry picked to show the first part where they actually were the second part where they killed the survivors. Remember Donald Trump said he was fine releasing that? Well, now Pete Hegseth says that's not being released. Donald Trump says whatever Hegseth wants. And Hegseth's like, of course we're not going to release it. We can't talk about our sources and methods. We can't show you that. So you can only show the first part of the video, but not the second part of the video.

7:55Ben Meiselas:What are these people talking about? Everything with them is hide, hide, hide, defraud, defraud, defraud. Here's what Hegseth said yesterday. So this is, again, think of that first image I showed you of Alvin Holsey, four-star admiral resigning. And then you have this Hegseth, this Fox Weekend host, this person who couldn't run nonprofits for veterans without screwing it up and being deemed utterly incompetent and unprofessional. And here he is disgracing us all. Let's play this clip. Also going to tomorrow, allow the Hask and Sask to see the unedited video of the September 2nd, alongside with Admiral Bradley, who has done a fantastic job, has made all the right calls, and we're glad he'll be there to do it.

8:39But in keeping with longstanding Department of War policy, Department of Defense policy, of course, we're not going to release a top secret, full unedited video of that to the general public. Haskins, Sask, and appropriate committees will see it, but not the general public.

9:01Ben Meiselas:Look, our editor in chief, Ron Filipkowski called it. He called it many, many days ago. Well, I think that Trump's dismal approval ratings and the Republican Party having no answers on health care and needing a big distraction as the deadline looms means it's time for Trump to invade Venezuela. And he was right. You also have Donald Trump trying to distract with posts like this unreasonable search and seizure. That was the FBI's criminal raid on Mar-a-Lago. This can never be allowed to happen again. And then another person goes, someone should be arrested. Christopher Wray and Garland, former Attorney General Eric Garland.

9:39Ben Meiselas:And Donald Trump goes, and many others, and many others. Donald Trump then writes, the Alvin Bragg case against Donald Trump is the worst case I've ever seen in 62 years of practicing law in the United States of America. It was totally contrived, unfair and unjust. It should not be allowed to stand Alan Dershowitz. And this comes as we know from the Susan Wiles interview or the 11 interviews she gave with Vanity Fair, that she said Trump's all over the Epstein files, all over the Epstein files, that Trump has the personality of an alcoholic that Pam Bondi whiffed on Epstein. Why I'm bringing up Epstein there is that Dershowitz would hang out at Epstein's home.

10:21Ben Meiselas:Dershowitz got a massage there, but he says he had his boxers on the whole time. He said, don't worry. He says he doesn't like massages. And then he had his boxers on. And that's what his main point was there. Now, Donald Trump also writes, and just makes this up, numbers released show that tariffs have reduced the trade deficit by more than half. This is larger than anyone except me projected. There's nothing true about this. Our deficit is not decreased by half. We continue to incur massive amounts of debt. Our deficit continues to increase. If our deficit was cut in half, we'd be in a different economic situation right now.

11:02Ben Meiselas:Just more lies by Donald Trump. Now, what is the FBI doing with all of this? What's Kash Patel doing while we still have a killer, a school shooter on the loose after the FBI botched the investigation at Brown University. As we have so much going on in this country that's making us so much less safe, Kash Patel and his young girlfriend go on the Stephen Miller wife podcast. Stephen Miller's wife has a podcast and Kash gets emotional describing how he and his girlfriend deal with people on social media who criticize their relationship. Play this clip. On a personal level, of course, I wish we didn't have to deal with the attacks.

11:43Like, she should be out there touring and crushing it on the country music stage as she always has been and she shouldn't have to deal with the collateral consequence of just being the FBI director's girlfriend but I think with the hypersensitive nature of the media especially the social media space people come at you because it takes me back to like when I first did an investigation of consequence you know Benghazi or Russiagate or what have you you know they always said it's going to be the loudest when you're over the target. And yeah, it's been the loudest for us in recent history.

12:15Ben Meiselas:And then Cash Patel and his girlfriend on Katie Miller's podcast say the following, playing this clip. Those things don't matter. You know, she's touring, we're campaigning. She's also doing campaign and political stuff at the same time. So we just, like everybody else, got on planes, met where we could, made it a point to see each other either in Nashville and Vegas. And sometimes it ended up being in DC or sometimes it's on the road where she was performing. And so you just make it happen if it's worth it. And it is. With all this taking place as well, we should also note that the U.S. Coast Guard quietly enacted a policy downgrading swastikas and nooses from hate symbols to potentially devices.

12:55Ben Meiselas:The manual is now in effect, despite public outrage and warnings after the draft was revealed last month. So do you all recall when that story broke and the Trump regime denied it and said, that's not the case. And then the Coast Guard admitted it, but then said, don't worry, that's not going to be the policy. Of course, we'll say that swastikas are hate symbols. Not anymore. Swastikas, nooses, they're viewed as potentially divisive, but no longer hate symbols. I often ask myself with this Trump regime, with all they're doing to inflict pain on people, take away people's health care, make people's lives much worse, take away educational opportunities.

13:33Ben Meiselas:You think about the ideas that they come up with when they're sitting around like, hey, here's a good idea. This is actually from the Trump regime. Let's take away the professional designation of nurses. Let's say that if you're a nurse, it's no longer a professional degree. Then they high five each other. They were attacking nurses. Who sits around and does that? Who sits around and says, you know what's missing? Swastikas, Confederate flags. Let's make those no longer hate symbols. And then they high five each other. Well, let's take away the hepatitis B vaccine and spread lies about it and say that you should only get it at the age of 12, despite the hepatitis B vaccine reducing the hepatitis B in about 99 % decrease.

14:15Ben Meiselas:So these are the despicable ideas from the Trump regime. And by the way, all Donald Trump wants to talk about, as we are on the verge of a war with Venezuela, you could view his post as a declaration of war, is his golden ballroom. Golden ball, building golden everywhere, gold, 400 million dollars. Now, here, play this clip. for 150 years they've wanted a ballroom and we're giving them myself and donors are giving them free of charge for nothing we're donating a building that's approximately 400 million years i think i'll do it for less but it's 400 i should do it for less i will do it for less but just in case i say 400 otherwise if i go three dollars over the press will say it costs more i built i I build under budget and ahead of schedule.
