In short

The hosts (Muni Kimes and Lenny) run through remaining roster needs for all 32 NFL teams after free agency, focusing on what positions each team should prioritize before the draft.

Guests

Nate Tice and Danny Kelly are mentioned as upcoming guests for quarterback/running back draft talk next week, but they are not present in this transcript. Current voices are Muni Kimes and Lenny (Michael Jr., referenced as “Golik and Golik Michael Jr.”).

Key claims (examples)

  • Eagles: biggest needs are edge and safety; also tight end, offensive tackle depth, and defensive tackle depth. Suggested fit: trade for Vikings edge Jonathan Grenard.
  • Commanders: top need is wide receiver; also edge, corner, and safety. They argue against drafting a running back early despite Jeremiah Love rumors.
  • Cowboys: defense-first—edge, linebacker, corner; safety and receiver are secondary.
  • Giants: linebacker and wide receiver lead; also guard; running back is a secondary need.
  • Bills: edge and secondary (corner/safety) are priorities; also want speed at edge.
  • Jets: wide receiver and edge; cornerback also flagged.
  • Patriots: wide receiver and edge; also nose tackle depth.
  • Dolphins: wide receiver and edge; corner is a major problem.
  • Packers: trenches on both sides (OL and DL).
  • Lions: left tackle and pass rush.
  • Bears: left tackle and pass rush; defensive tackle also.
  • Vikings: D-line and safety/secondary.
  • Steelers: mostly stacked; main need is guard (plus some corner depth).
  • Ravens: interior offensive line first; then WR/TE.
  • Bengals: front seven (DT/edge/ILB).
  • Browns: offensive line (left tackle) overwhelmingly; also receiver.

0:34Welcome back to the Muni Kimes show featuring Lenny, the only NFL podcast. One of the hosts thinks Fernando should be spelled with a U. Fernando Mendoza. That's Lenny. I'm Muni Kimes. We're not going to talk about him today. QB1 takes are lighting up the internet. We will get to those next week. I'm going to have Nate Tice and Danny Kelly on to a little three-man weave to talk about the quarterbacks and we're going to do running backs in the draft as well um but we're going to get this out so before i get to the draft i do this every year it's one of my favorite podcasts of the entire off season i go through all 32 teams and wait till free agency is basically over and identify needs remaining needs for all 32 teams very helpful ahead of the draft here to embark with me on this journey embark uh maybe i'll use that one at some point the one the only the host one of the hosts of Golik and Golik Michael Jr.

1:28Welcome back to the show. Appreciate you having me buddy and uh shame to hear that there's no QB1 takes today I had Garrett Nussmeyer stuff locked and loaded for you it's been a wild wild time here but team needs just as fun can't wait. I got through Nussmeyer's 2024 uh some fun stuff in there I will be talking about him uh yeah uh i don't even when i'm i always do this where i'm like we're not podcasting about this today and then i have like a three minute monologue about what we're not talking about uh yeah so you need quarterbacks on this list um and yet probably very few of them will actually aggressively dress that and address that in the draft uh none of the teams in the nfc east need quarterbacks.

2:12So we shall start there. Uh, I I'm going to go first, so I'll go first and then I'll throw it to you for a team. Uh, I'll start with the Eagles. How about, uh, the Philadelphia Eagles still have very good roster was my takeaway looking at this team. I mean, you could argue that, uh, Tanner McKee might be on the move. I don't know. They might make it a little bit of a change in the quarterback situation for them but uh that is not one of their needs uh the I would say biggest needs the Philadelphia Eagles have edge safety uh fortunately I was able to do this after Sidney Brown was left the Eagles so right now it's a very thin position for them uh edge you're looking at Jalex Hunt Nolan Smith Arnold Abikati it's an interesting signing but i don't think that prohibits that from none of you know it's still a pretty significant need for them and then i have a secondary needs mike tight end because goddard's only back on like a one year you know i think right it's just a one-year deal if i remember correctly uh i wrote offensive tackle and depth lane johnson obviously still coming back but getting up in the years.

3:30Uh, and then I wrote if AJ Brown is traded wide receiver. Uh, so we'll see. Do you feel like I missed anything? Oh, then I wrote defensive tackle depth, but this is often the case with the Eagles because it's such a well-built team. You're, you're, you're talking about depth at multiple positions, but edge and safety are the two biggest needs in my opinion. Do you think anything else rises to that level? No, I think those are the clear standouts. And like you said, with teams in this tax bracket, it's easy to look around and see a bunch of them maybe on closer planes in that second wave of them.

4:05But those ones are the two obvious ones. I think especially safety, given what Vic Fangio tends to ask of this defense, you know the important positions in that one. And then Edge just seeing how impactful Jalen Phillips was last year and now obviously departs in free agency. Those both standouts, the safety one plays right into my fan fiction that I've texted you about in the past of Dylan Thienemann, the safety out of Oregon, who if he were to fall down there, I can just see Vic Fangio with the vein popping out of his head in the draft room trying to get him another exciting white to replace Blankenship.

4:40It would be a little on the nose to replace him with Thienemann. Thienemann, I would say, a much better athlete, though. It's not surprising, folks. I guess it was surprising how fast he ran exactly at the combine. I think it'll be interesting, right, because I do think safety and tight end if um kenyan sadiq were to be available to them would be alluring but the eagles also just have such a tradition of continuing to draft in the trenches so it might be a situation where you're looking at the bigger names like if sadiq is there versus you know maybe a an edge i don't know like a kelder fox or something someone that is outside that top tier of edges, but is a more significant need.

5:23I also I'll throw one thing also out. I do think the Eagles should be on the phone with Minnesota about trying to trade for Jonathan Grenard. That seems like a dream fit for them. And my question would be just if I was Minnesota, I don't know if I would trade him with the Kyler Murray deal. You're kind of on a different, you know, now you can actually compete in my opinion, but that would be something if they were able to do that ahead of the draft, that might change how they look at that first round pick or maybe change some of the need there. And then you're more, a little more comfortable going tight under safety, if that's the case.

5:57Yep. No, I completely agree. That would be the prototype how we move that people, you know, lose their mind about online. If they were able to pull that off, I was amazed at how many of the early mocks of them. You mentioned, you know, Philly loves drafting in the trenches. And while Lane Johnson's back, we know this off season was about, you know, them potentially losing not only him but Landon Dickerson if those guys had weighed retirement. Like I saw a bunch of like Maxie Hawnachor mocked to them late in the first round, which to me also is going to be really interesting to monitor for them going forward because we are now in the, you know, post era after the, you know, movement on offensive line, losing one of the greatest offensive line coaches in modern football and Jeff Stoutland and a guy who if you'd have told me like a Maxie Hawnachor, a guy who's a little bit more of a project, was a late bloomer there, came there when you had Stoutland, I'd say, hell yes.

6:48Now, wandering into the unknown where you don't have one of the proven blue-chip developers, I'd be a little bit more hesitant maybe about wading into those waters given what we know about the modern game. I'm so interested in seeing how they approach offensive line moving forward with that in mind. And you and I texted a bit about Max because he caught my eye while I was watching David Bailey, the pass rusher, And I thought that his tape in that game was really impressive. And it would be like a bit of a luxury pick, right? Like we don't need you to play immediately. And there's something very appealing about that if you are a team that's as good as Philadelphia's.

7:25But it would be hard to turn down Sadiq. So, you know, interesting decision. Where they're picking is really interesting. All right. Not a lot of needs there. I had a lot of needs for the commanders. What did you have as the primary ones? To me, I looked right up top, and offensively, I went wide receiver. After things went down last year, you've got Terry McLaurin, who's going to be 31 this year, and outside of that, Debo Samuel and the rest of this offense really weren't able to give a lot of openings to Jaden Daniels, who obviously the bigger story with him last year was being compromised by injury, but I think now as that offense changes shape again, post Cliff Kingsbury, trying to pair him up with a young weapon who's going to be on a similar timeline to grow with him.

8:10I think paramount for him. Like, obviously, they spent a lot of this offseason attacking defensive needs, which is unsurprising given who the head coach is and the pressure that was mounting on that side. But to me, I had, you know, wide receiver, really offensive weapon with a bullet for that team. Yeah, wide receiver was my first one. And then I wrote edge, corner, safety. Even with OA and Chason, which are actually additions I both really liked, you're still, I would say, you should still be seriously considering edge at seven. The corner room is a mess. Safety needs, you know, even with the additions they made on defense.

8:47But I want to focus on receiver, which you highlighted there. So right now the receiving group is Terry McLaurin, Van Jefferson, Traylon Burks, Deami Brown is back, Luke McCaffrey. Yeah. I do not understand the notion that this team is in position to draft a running back there. I know I'm going to say that a million times between now and the draft, but that was actually, there was some of the reporting today. I saw Adam Schefter, I think on Pat McAfee's show talk about how he actually thinks the Titans are not a love team or the Giants, I think, but he mentioned the commanders as a possibility.

9:23I think their backs are good. Bill Krosky, Merritt and Rashad White. That's a nice duo. And I just like your two biggest needs in my opinion, in our receiver edge and I would throw in corner three incredibly expensive positions at which I actually think seven is kind of perfect. Like at seven, you're going to get either the best receiver or one of the three edges or the best corner, like get your pick. So I just think their needs line up well with where they're picking. And if I were them, I would be very inclined towards addressing one of those needs at that point. it's been really funny to watch the game of jeremiah love hot potato that we've done on mocks throughout the early portion of this season and how you're right like we've had this wax and wane of conversations around positional value and what can you serve that the kinds of backs that are worth the level of investment that you're likely going to get with jeremiah love in the first round but i do also think and you brought it up here there needs to be a level of honesty overall with these teams on where they are at and if you are capable of bringing a guy like that and don't get me wrong like would it be tantalizing to think about a backfield that does have Jaden Daniels and Jeremiah Love in it and all the versatility that affords you in the short area against defenses in the run game with what Jeremiah can do as a receiver sure but to your point with the savings that you get drafting a first rounder at some of those more premium positions with what this team needs.

10:57I'm kind of with you. I love Jeremiah, but I also think at some point you've got to be a little bit more realistic, and Washington's probably one of those teams. Tate would also, Carnell Tate, the Ohio State receiver, would be such a great pairing with Terry McLaurin, right? Because the question, so Tate's my number one receiver, and I'm going to I think next week is QB's running backs. Week after, I'll do receivers, tight ends. I think there's reasonable questions about whether he's like your true prototypical x receiver does he have the physicality the downs downfield speed etc i think at minimum he is an excellent 1b i love him as is the to mclaurin's x uh the smoothness the route running the hands and he has the downfield threat just in a different way but like that would be such a good pairing for jayden daniels so i I would be much more inclined to go receiver there.

11:56And that's without even getting to the edges. But yeah, the, sorry, I promise this won't turn into like a, this team should not take Jeremiah love, but we just are talking about teams that are picking there. And that was in the news today. So it was on my mind. Yeah. Well, I am curious about your thoughts on him and another NFC East team. So we won't be done talking about him here, which is good. That team is not Dallas. Jerry, put the phone down. Thank God. right when they honestly dallas doesn't get enough credit for doing like quiet smart things like just bringing javante williams back on like a totally reasonable deal so that they're not desperate for a back you know as much grief as we give this franchise for some of the other silly things they do dragging things out that's not one of them uh so i would say you know looking at this team i I think, unsurprisingly, it's very defense-skewed versus offense.

12:49I wrote edge, linebacker, corner as the three biggest needs. So they did trade for Rashawn Gary. You're looking at Rashawn Gary, Donovan Aziraku, Sam Williams, James Houston. I still would continue to add speed would be something I'd like to add there. Linebacker, it's Mariam Overshone, who's further removed from injury. and then Shamar James, Leofu from Notre Dame. They need another linebacker. Corner room right now, it's Duran Bland, Sharron River Jr., who played some last year, started the year injured, and then they did sign Kobe Durant. So it's not an emergency situation, and then I have a secondary needs safety and then receiver question mark if depending on the future of pickings but to go back to edge linebacker corner I think at 12 and 20 you're you're really not wrong going defense with both of those picks and I think there'll be some interesting names and it's increasingly looks like styles might not be there at 12 which was kind of the dream but I think there'll be interesting names at all three of those positions at that point of the draft no completely agree Like this cornerback class, which has looked like the one most often mocked to them at 12.

14:18Like I see a lot of Jermon McCoy from Tennessee, who I know you are certainly a big fan of. So, yeah, it's defense all the way through there. I think even with all those, like linebacker to me, while it won't necessarily be maybe the pick in the first round there, does feel the most important in a lot of ways just because we know the clear edict for Dallas, which is helped out some by what they've done in the defensive tackle room and bringing Quinn and Williams over at the trade deadline last year. But, like, it still feels like you need a stopper in the middle of that defense on the second level, or you risk kind of looking like what the Giants have looked like in division for them as well.

14:52So I'm with you there. But, yes, it's all defense for me. Like, again, like you said, the offense for Dallas was really enjoyable to watch last year. It has so many great parts that can kill you. Like, I said it and forget it, man. Just, you know, see if you can work everything out with George Pickens so you don't get the worst version of him coming back to you mentally. It was wise to them to just run it back offensively, right? Like they're just like, oh, let's bring back Pickens and Williams because it was obviously the top five offense when the fully armed battle station was working. The defense needs a lot of work.

15:27Yeah, it's a shame with Stiles because ahead of the combine, I really was like, that's perfect. could not be better player fit, need situation, all of it. But that's one where I'm kind of believing the hype about. I don't think he drops out of the top 10 right now. Maybe I'm not. And then you look at a bunch of teams we're going to be discussing. He could fit in a lot of situations, including the final team in the NFC East. What do you have as needs for the New York Giants? Well, starting off, and one we've seen talked about a lot, linebacker obviously massive need for them there you've seen styles mocked him them a lot in that spot I also wrote down wide receiver because outside of Malik neighbors is coming back off injury really not a lot to write home about there like Darius Slayton on his best day still not what you're looking for there and then guard as well this is a team that offensive line wise you're good you still need help on here you know what Andrew Thomas has developed into over time is great.

16:28The rest of that group has struggled. 26th in quarterback pressure percentage allowed last year and protecting your young quarterback always a pretty good deal. But I'd say linebacker or wide receiver are probably the ones that stand out first and work back from there. Yeah. Same that I had. I also mentioned corner. Yeah. And then I guess we can talk about love here. I have running back as a secondary need along with safety because this has been mentioned as a downs team too potentially but um to me the needs you mentioned far outweigh running back and this feels like one of those situations where if you dropped a running back into it without improving either the offensive line or the receiving group you're just recreating the situation we've seen play time and time again i mean interior offensive line is not good and i you know the thomas is great illuminor they brought back because he brought at least competent tackle play on the outside but on the inside you're looking at uh runyon schmitz and kubus uh and let me ask you this because you you know these offensive linemen the guards and it really well in the draft do you think pick five is too early to improve at that position because you know it's also early for linebacker you could argue it's early for the receivers.

17:54So it's not like an obvious perfect marriage at pick five of need and fit. We think about it outside of receiver, guard, linebacker, those aren't super high-value positions, although guards do make a lot of money now. Do you think it's too early to take a guard? I don't think so, especially because when you're talking about the top end of this draft, I forget what comedian is that always does the bit about there's no such thing as a broken escalator. They're just temporarily stairs. There's a bunch of guys we've talked about, even Spencer Fano, Francis Maui Noah at the top of this, who could start their career at guard in the right circumstance.

18:35And this could be one. You mentioned Illuminor, he comes back and they sign him there. But if you're building towards the future and you say, all right, one of these guys is at worst for us, a high-level guard and has that flexibility, and then can move out and tackle in a pinch or could be our long-term plan in that spot there. Like those guys have both been talked about with that kind of flexibility, even though I think they both can play tackle in the NFL, but valuing a quality offensive lineman at that spot to me, no, given how highly I think of those players wouldn't be too early, even if I have really not seen anyone kind of predict that for them.

19:09I think it's also like with many of these teams, it's a dream trade down, but who's trading up, you know, that's always the question. Cause it would be ideal for them to trade down. and I think add some draft capital to address those needs. All right, AFC East. I've got to pick up the pace here. As always, I take too long to the very beginning. I shall go first, and I will do the Buffalo Bills first, a team that's been pretty active in free agency, trading for DJ Moore, signing Bradley Chubb. So I still have edge as a major need for them, even with the signing of Chubb. And then I just wrote secondary because right now your corner room, Hairston or Benford's your TV one D Alford, Taron Johnson's gone.

20:00Obviously he was, he struggled a little bit last year. I'm not saying it's something I'm just saying, uh, safeties Cole Bishop, but then I guess they signed CJ Garner Johnson. You're looking at Franklin Jr. To me, the entire secondary continues. They need to add to, And then I would just really love to see some speed at edge on this team. And then I have secondary needs linebacker guard perpetually receiver. But to me, the defense is where I would focus. Yeah, I had edge is the top one for that reason there, but I still had wide receiver and guard. Like, I don't think you can overestimate that one, that offensive line lost, you know, two big parts or lost David Edwards at guard in that spot there, but also lost Aaron Cromer, their offensive line coach.

20:43He retired, and that was the best offensive line in the league last year. It was the strength of that offense, and so making sure you sure that up the right way in front of Josh Allen. Huge. And then DJ Moore, the trade there, whatever you think of it, they still need more to help there unless you're all of a sudden predicting that you're going to get the jump from Keon or anyone else there. But I would say adding there makes sense, but defensively, I think Edge is probably the top place I'd start. You have the Jets. it feels like everything I wrote down wide receiver and edge for the top two here like as this defense you know traded Dermaine Johnson this offseason wide receiver Garrett Wilson missed 10 games last year and still led the Jets in receiving yards which is you know embodies a lot of the things that were wrong with them but outside of Garrett Wilson there's really not a weapon and the one area you could point to now I know I believe Elijah Vera Tucker signed with the the Patriots this offseason, right?

21:41So, you know, that offensive line was one of the few things you could point to last year. I think the only group that started the same five guys all season, but you need some weapons to help out there. Obviously, Brees Hall in the backfield is great, but those were the two spots that I had as the major needs for them. What about you? It's a lot of needs. You hit wide receiver and edge. I would also probably put cornerback up there as, you know, they did sign Nashawn Wright, who's a really fun player from Chicago. I made a lot of kind of shocking amount of plays last year, but Brandon Stevens, Azari Thomas, you know, so yeah, but receiver and edge, I mean, this is one where there's no mystery, what position they're going to address at two.

22:24The only mystery is which player, which I genuinely don't know. And I find super fascinating. You know, they signed a side, you have Will McDonald, Kingsley, and I'm sorry, but like that, obviously you need to add there. I think the player they take too is going to be really interesting because it's going to tell us a little bit about whether there's going to be any philosophical changes with this defense this year, you know, or an end sort of directionally where Darren Mouji wants to go. They have so much draft capital. So all these positions they can address just edge is going to be the main one.

23:00It would be really nice if they could add a receiver maybe in the second round. I think I also wrote safety. I know they brought in makeup. I wouldn't mind adding a safety too. But yeah, I think wide receiver and edge quarterback, but they're not going to do that this year. It's pointless. All right. Patriots is me. Sorry, I gave you the bottom names. This one was actually, I thought, simpler. I was surprised. I didn't feel, I felt like there was two pretty obvious positions. And unfortunately, there's a bit of a theme here. Wide receiver and edge. Yeah. The wide receiver group right now, Romeo Dobbs.

23:37We love that signing, but that's not prohibiting you from continuing to add at that position. There's a reason why they've been linked to, you know, AJ Brown as, you know, the potential trade partner. Booty, Hollins, Douglas. It's a great receiving group that just still needs a dude. And then edge, that probably is the biggest need more than wide receiver, right? Because Chason's gone. It was actually quite productive for them. So you're looking at Landry, injuries, he signed Draymond Jones. To me, this defensive tackle duo of Barmore and Williams is obviously very, very good. But that, to me, is the single biggest need on this roster as Edge.

24:17Yeah, no, 100%. Chason was one of my favorite surprises in the league. As someone that had kind of forgotten about him after everything that went wrong early in his career, the renaissance that he had last year, really fun, excited to watch. Now the next stop for him, but no, agreed on both of those there. Like without, with the wide receiver room as presently constructed, you risk running into the problem the Bills did this year. And like the bed in Buffalo, when you got rid of Diggs was Josh was ready to elevate. And he was in that season immediately following like Drake is great, but with the way that things are going to change for them next year, schedule wise, you're still early enough his career.

24:52You need a guy who's a get open artist. And that was Diggs for you there. And they're still in search of that right now. Patriots, as you mentioned, are the ones team that added Elijah Vera Tucker, which is kind of one of the more interesting gambles, right? Because if he's healthy, that's going to be an amazing signing and price they paid. But obviously, that's what he struggled with. But you know, you're keeping William Eric, Will Campbell at left tackle, kicking Jared Wilson to center, right side is fine. So we shall see. Yeah, I wrote nose tackle too, because Kairos Tonga is gone. you have some depth there, but I would still eye that.

25:31That's pretty much it. All right. Miami dolphins.

25:37A lot. All the, all the above. I mean, the obvious ones given, you know, really the last like year and change or again, wide receiver and edge, given what's going on there. I'll be curious what they actually do to, to address since this is a pretty, it seems clearly transparent tank. outside of the Malik Willis signing that, you know, I hope he knew what he was getting into when he'd signed that paper. The money's pretty good, and who knows what the market was actually like, but, man, the reality he's walking into sucks. So, yeah, wide receiver edge, and, I mean, you could throw a dart and hit almost everything else.

26:15Like the offensive line, especially Brewer, was a really nice surprise for a lot of last year. We'll see how much of that changes now that, you know, Mike McDaniel's walking out of the door who's a, you know, premier run designer, but woof. Yeah, I think the better question with the Dolphins is like, what positions do you feel good about? Offensive line, hilariously, after years of me complaining, it's finally the upswing.

26:41Defensive tackle, okay. Running back, good. That's about it. Corner, major problem. Tight end. I mean, there's so many directions they could go in. I'll say that's Dolphins fans. Spin zone. So obviously you have a ton of draft picks now, right? 11, I think is a great spot to take a wide receiver, especially if only one goes ahead of you, which I kind of seems like it's trying to get, we'll see. There's a lot of ball game, but if one of Tate or Tyson is there, I don't think Tate will be. But if Tyson was there, like there's, because a lot of the teams we've mentioned are picking earlier need receivers but it feels like a little rich right like the giants or whatever but like 11 would be great and so you might actually have a nice marriage of where you're picking and what you need even though you have many needs i don't think one of the top three edges are going to be there probably corner too though you could probably get one of the top corners so that's another option for them but yeah it's a lot um all right that was the afc east let's do the nfc north let's go like this around the country uh i shall go first i will do the green bay packers kind of a lot surprised me i you know i'm always high on the packers i'm very high on love but they had a lot of talent leave the building and i know people can say ah rasheed walker wasn't great or elton jenkins was never healthy or rashon gary never lived up to the draft pick fine you're not wrong but the reality is both trenches is what i wrote down yeah trenches on both sides of the ball both the offensive and defensive lines the offensive line i mean we take a step back it's really it's changed a lot uh and you know they're yeah they're counting on i think continued development from young players which is fine but i wouldn't be surprised if that's something they look to attack and then the defensive line i mean the defensive tackle room assigned to von hargrave okay why it's coming back from injury but that's thin edge we'll see what the injury timeline is like for Parsons.

29:11But Van Ness hasn't been great for them. So even though the players who left, I don't think we're necessarily worth fighting to keep, per se. It does mean that this team has to get better pretty quickly in those positions. And you could also mention, by the way, cornerback, but the trenches is the focus for me. Nope, I'd agree. I did write down corner for what it's worth, but trenches and really, you know, you're getting Micah back off injury obviously he made life so much easier for everyone there where Sean Gary was a huge beneficiary but with any of these edge guys you'd like to I mean that'll be a theme for a couple other teams too like you'd like to give them someone opposite there that can offer them a little bit of relief on that front but the offensive line one's always interesting for me like Green Bay has felt like a team that just sort of drafts Swiss army knives and feels like they can move around wherever they want to go and they've put capital and into that position like top three round capital and a bunch of these guys.

30:07They paid banks a bunch of money, and obviously results may vary on that. But that much change for a contender who also lost their defensive coordinator is going to have to deal with that churn is just kind of an interesting gamble at this juncture considering the opportunity they've got in the North right now. Lions is you. Lions, I mean, top of the list for me was left tackle. like you know we we talked about I think you and I maybe even and I forget if this was the team draft podcast or whatever but like the cracks in the foundation started to show up going into last year for the offensive line so much was focused on the interior of that group and a lot of that you know worry ended up being justified in the middle of the year but now with it official and them and Decker parting ways like I looked at that group and was like all right you've got to get back to that being your thing and try and find a long-term replacement there.

31:03Yeah, it's right now, Manu, Mahogany, Cade Mays, they signed to play center, Tate Rallet, Jagard, Pene Sewell. What do you make of the, like, should Pene Sewell switch to left tackle discussion? I think Tristan Wirfs gave a lot of people unrealistic expectations for how easy that is. Like, you know, Pene's always been a guy too, that like is an elite player, but is, I think by most people kind of viewed as a better run blocker than pass protector on the highest end of that conversation. But at the same time, he's such a compelling athlete at that position. And Hank Fraley is such a good offensive line coach that I think if there's a guy that could make that switch and maybe not do it as easily as Tristan did and go over there and immediately just produce in that same way.

31:50But I wouldn't hate it. Part of it also depends on who you bring in to do that. Like if you've got a young guy who's only got experience on the right side and you trust Panay to be the adult in the room, then I wouldn't necessarily hate that. You know, the other thing with the Lions and the offensive line is your quarterback, we know, with good pass protection, as good as anyone. But without, we also know, and I know a lot of Lions fans get so upset about this. This is not – it's an acknowledgement of – I know. About what? But, like, that your quarterback is late-stage Peyton Manning when he's pressured in the pocket, like, it's the reality.

32:30Yes, and also, but you as a franchise, and they clearly know it because they have tried to continue investing in the position. It's been a priority for them, and it has to be moving forward. It is who he is. It is the circumstances that are great, you know, necessary for him to be his best self. Pass rush is the other thing, you know, opposite Aiden Hutchinson's big question mark right now. I mean, DJ Juan, Lacey, it's just, they really, really need cheap, cheap and effective pass rush opposite him. All right, I'll go Bears next. I wrote, God, we really are saying the same positions a lot, but I wrote left tackle and pass rush.

33:12And then I wrote defensive tackle. But left tackle to me is the biggest issue, right? They have tried to do it cheaply, and they've invested so much elsewhere on the offensive line, but they've run into some injuries, and I think they're kind of hitting a wall there. And then pass rush, you know, Montez Sweat, they signed Diota Yingbo last year, but the four-man rush still hasn't been good enough. There's linear reasons for that, and they've had injuries elsewhere on the defense. and then the defensive tackle rooms combination of, you know, Grady Jarrett's older at this point. I just think getting more pass rush on the interior would be really helpful for that four man rush.

34:01I talked about. Nope, completely agree. I mean, you look again at the help needed there last year, sweat, 10 sacks. And I think Jervon Dexter was the next close. So I know they were defensive tackle. And they were super high on him, like going into camp last year, that staff thinks that he's got a lot of juice, But yeah, no, I'm totally with you on that front there. The Bears are an easy one to pencil in for that because they did so much of the dirty work on the other side last year. And they're going to desperately need it because that turnover luck is going to regress hard and they're going to need defense that's a little more up to it.

34:31They did sign Garrett Bradbury to play center just after the surprise retirement of Drew Dahlman. I think that position is too a little bit protected right in the offense by the guards that they have as well. But yeah, I just think left tackle is something either left tackle or edge is what I would address early in the draft. All right, fine. Rounding things out with the Vikings. What do you got? I went D-line in safety for this group here, releasing a lot of guys to try and ease some of the cap issues. Hargrave, Jonathan Allen. We talked about Grenard and what may or may not happen with that in the near future.

35:09And then Harrison Smith, still a free agent. We're not sure if he's going to retire or not at this point. But either way, that defense that, you know, has been one of the strengths of this team in so many ways, obviously needs a bunch of help in some key areas that make it all home for beef low. Yeah, which is kind of interesting because we've been getting pass rush, left tackle, receiver. So it was kind of funny to get to the Vikings and realize actually. They're a little bit unique, I think a lot of. Yeah, like I actually think, you know, receiver, they're fine. Offensive line, they're fine.

35:42They just had some injuries. Pass rush, you know, it depends on whether or not they move on from Grenard if they were to actually trade him. I guess, you know, it depends on how they feel about Dallas Turner and his development. But if they keep Grenard, I don't think that's a big issue. Safety, yeah. I mean, safety and cornerback generally. I wrote secondary, you know, it's kind of the endless. How much is the cornerback or the secondary or the cornerback, room, pardon me, protected by Flores in the scheme. He's done a good job of working around it, but this does feel, I mean, looking at a group, Miss Murphy Jr., who's the guy who got paid, Pierre, Isaiah Rogers feels like something that they could perpetually address.

36:31They, to me, would be a really fun Jeremiah Love team, but they're not. Ooh! Yeah. I mean, they brought back Aaron Jones and a restructured contract. I actually think Jordan Mason was kind of nice for them. But we talked about it last week. There's no reason why this run game can't be better than it has been with Kyla Murray as the quarterback. I would also add defensive tackle. Really, it is amazing when you look at the defensive depth chart how good the defense has been. And again, it's like a testament to Brian Flores because there's actually a lot of areas they could address defensively, and it's kind of remarkable that they were a top five unit last year.

37:21I mean, the most unique – it's weird to even call it luck, but the fact that Brian Flores occupies one of the most unique situations in the NFL with the lawsuit and everything that surrounded his tenure, that they just keep lucking, in Minnesota's terms, lucking into getting him back as the defensive coordinator every year when that guy in an equal world would absolutely have another head coaching opportunity right now. All right. AFC North. I'll go first. I'm going to do the Steelers first. All right. And this is why. This roster is really good, I think. Like, I look, taking a step back and like, especially doing this as an exercise where you go team by team and some of these teams you're like naming 20 positions and you're talking about really expensive positions like edge and receiver or whatever.

38:14The Steelers are kind of stacked. Like I was, I guess, surprised by how few needs I identified looking at it. I mean, you could argue wide receiver three, I guess. Yeah. Cornerback depth, perhaps, given, you know, Dean's had some injuries and whatnot. and another running back sure but the reality is they really only have one glaring need in my mind and unfortunately it's the most important position in football yes because otherwise talking of course about guard no quarterback uh because otherwise like i see an improving young offensive line i see a defensive line that's a mix of young and old they've hit on picks the secondary is improved like am I wrong to be to look at this depth chart and feel that it's like a lot better than maybe I expected no I don't think so uh again that was all the stuff that I had was like again outside of starting quarterback but it was like guard like maybe another tight end just because we know the kink of that offense more often than not but that or would did at least um but yeah no it's a lot of guys that you trust to go be grown-ups at that spot and especially up on the front seven on defense like we saw last year the way that edge group stepped up when you had tj watt banged up like it's a really impressive bunch yeah i guess just keep adding to the offensive line um tackle you know getting some options especially given who's most likely you know you're playing quarterback there it's really important but But yeah, I guess that's why it's kind of perpetually like I wanted them to be a Malik Willis team or a Kyler team just because of the potential upside here.

40:06Because I do feel that this roster is in good shape. I remember you and I talked about the Steelers. I think it was you and I talked about the Steelers and Malik Willis as a potential interesting fit when he was coming out of the draft back in the day. So I thought it would have been a nice bit of fan fiction there, but alas. okay you have the Ravens all right the Ravens I wrote down um still edge like someone to prepare with Trey Hendrickson on the other side there since I think we've all talked ad nauseum about Trey Hendrickson and the comparison contrast with Max Crosby in terms of the run game stuff uh interior offensive line like this is a group that obviously lost you know one of the best centers and certainly the best in terms of how he was paid in Tyler Linderbaum, but Faleli and Voorhees have both struggled at different times.

40:55I wrote down wide receiver in that room, still needing a true... They're a team where I saw Jordan Tyson mocked to them in some early drafts, and I thought Mana from freaking heaven for Lamar Jackson and company. And then this is another team I wrote down, interior defensive line, like Nnamdi Matabike in the next situation is scary stuff for a guy that was, you know, a really important player for them. Yeah, if he's – I wrote question because they're kind of talking about him like he's going to – for a while it seemed like he might retire. I don't know. You didn't hear about him at all because it was such a serious injury.

41:31If he plays, then you've got a great duo with him and Travis Jones. But, yeah, to me, offense really. Like interior offensive line is number one with a bullet. And then after that, I have wide receiver and tight end now. Yeah. because they would be a team I would love to add a tight end, maybe like in the middle of the draft. I'm going interior offensive line. Or I guess if Tyson's there, because I do have receiver as well, that would be hard to pass up. But this offensive line could be scary hours if they don't improve things on the inside. Right now, I mean, they did sign John Simpson. Yeah, like, you know, but it's otherwise Voorhees and Bullock.

42:19The one thing I will say for them, and this isn't a total cop-out, they, this offseason, pulled in one of my favorite O-line coaches in the NFL in Dwayne Ledford, who was with the Falcons for a whole bunch of years across, I think, a couple different regimes. And going back to his college days, he was the O-line coach at MC State when Makai Becton was there and had his big coming-out party his junior year. he is for my money like maybe the best pure outside zone coach in the NFL and so you know we'll see if they let him kind of major in that with that group it's a scheme that can cover up for some of some of your issues at times you know just based on what it affords you but they're one of the teams like I always kind of like paying attention to where the good offensive line coaches sign and he's one where all right if you sold me on them taking a guy that needed a little bit of seasoning there I trust him as a name to try and help get that group right to go along with the tackle tandem that they have there, but that's one I wanted to make sure to point out to keep an eye on.

43:15Some depth to cornerback to linebacker, I wrote, you know, running back to, but yeah, I think you hit on the major needs. Alright, Bengals. I'll do the Bengals. I just wrote front seven. Defensive tackle, edge, linebacker, any of those three positions top 10 in the draft i'd be happy with obviously offense is stacked outside of like a guard i guess um but you know the you can even safety is a secondary need but really anything you can do to improve the front seven uh you know they added boy mafia we've talked about but otherwise so miles murphy shamar stewart opposite him on the inside jonathan allen doesn't really do much for me at this point.

44:07Your linebacker group is Knight, who showed some as a blitzer. I mean, God, if Sonny Stiles was available here. This is why I'm looking at the Cowboys. I'm like, he's not getting past 10. But if Bain or one of the three edges are there, I think it would be interesting. The interesting thing for Cincinnati would be if all those edges are gone, if Stiles is gone, is it too high to take a Peter Woods type, perhaps? perhaps, you know, but front seven is pretty clear. To me, for them, like Reuben Baines, the dream there. I think just because like you mentioned with Boye and Mafi being there, like I think you need an attitude guy in that front seven.

44:49It's just been a group that's been so often pushed around and I'm cloaked in the recency bias of watching him at his pro day and just, you know, getting reminded of, oh, I thought the rep of him in coverage. He moves so well for someone his size. And that's all you want, man. If you got him and Moffay as your, at minimum, the run defense jumps. And then I think there's obviously upside, both rushing the passer. But yeah, you better be. All the Ty Simpson QB1 hide. The Bengals got to be pushing. Anything you can do. Love going before us. Simpson going before us. Both receivers, you know, if they can get any of those or any of the Ohio State defenders to fall to them, I would say.

45:39Yeah. All right, final team in the AFC North is yours, the Cleveland Browns. Woof. I mean, well, as we've talked about ad nauseum, like offensive line, specifically left tackle, it's why there's been so much conversation in this. I think since the combine really, why am I blanking on his name right now, the left tackle out of Georgia? This is supposed to be my thing, and I apologize. Monroe Freeling. Oh, yeah. There's been so much conversation there just because he's seen as, like, the pure left tackle. I have questions. But offensive line, quarterback, wide receiver, an edge opposite Miles Garrett, nickel, like, might even be a little bit further down the list.

46:17But it's offensive line overwhelmingly. Like, you've obviously gone and signed a bunch of these guys. Like, I have questions about, you know, how good some of the signings are. Right. but you were desperate because of a weird situation where everyone was a free agent, but left tackle will be their first pick or O-line will be their first pick. Yeah. Offensive line and receiver. If you're going to skip on quarterback this year, and it seems like they're going to, God bless them, get your stuff together for next year so that whoever the quarterback is next year is walking into a superior situation than the one this season.

46:57Right now, your receiver room is Judy, Tillman, Bond. Like you said, the left tackle. I mean, the offensive line generally. Yes, they've added a bunch of veterans, but you hit on Fan and Junior, which is great. You're good at back. The receiving group is, I would... This, to me, they seem like a... This is why I don't see Tate falling out of the top 10 at all because I just feel like they're not going to pass on him if he's there. Unless they're like one offensive lineman. True. And part of this stat I'm about to read is emblematic. Offensive line quarterback situation, we're all foobar. But Harold Fannin led the team in receiving yards and had 22 more receptions than the next closest receiver on that team.

47:45As the Harold Fannin junior dynasty manager, I love it. And I hope they don't draft a receiver. Just draft an offensive lineman and let my boy cook. but they should take they should take receiver or you know they just focus on offense. All right. Let's take a quick break and we're going to start the second half of this pod in the NFC West with a team that has basically no needs. Guess who it is. Did you guess which team I'm talking about as having basically no needs?

49:44uh I it feels too obvious to say the cart no I'm just kidding uh I guess we're gonna start with the defending champs no they've got more needs than the Rams I think huh uh the Rams do have needs and I'm exaggerating sure but they were busy enough in the offseason at the one that we all knew to where you can I guess understand that yes we're talking about more garnishes than main dishes that this team really needs? So receiver, right? Adams, Nakua, but then you've got Whittington, Mumfield, certainly something that they could add. By the way, JSN getting paid before Nakua. Nakua is going to make an outrageous amount of money.

50:28Tight end is another thing. They drafted one last year pretty high, Ferguson, but they're one to keep an eye on is Sadiq Watch, I would say, especially with Higby getting up there. And then I wrote... So wide receiver was one. Tight end, I guess. I wrote offensive tackle depth. Yes. They have starting tackles. Havison retired, but he wasn't. It was McClendon and Larry Jackson's been pretty good for them, but just depth. And then quarterback. but like yeah it's obviously that's a future need um I guess linebacker is something you know they paid Nate Landman but they could add there but but the biggest most glaring need on this team was corner and they addressed it incredibly aggressively this offseason which makes it fun because it means they could do some spicy offense stuff yeah I completely agree I'm with you like all of those are justified but to me the tackle depth is the most important just because again And while he's not Jared Goff, like we saw in some instances last year where that offensive line got beat up and things got really hard for Stafford.

51:38So I just want to make sure, given who he is as a quarterback, given the fact that he is still older, and while the back stuff got put behind the scenes early, like you can't rule out injury at his big age. So I want him clean as often as possible and making sure, like anything else, like you get to go and spend on luxury goods right now when you're a team that's gone and done the hard work already this offseason. Get yourself a nice other big boy to flip around there at swing tackle and call it a day. What would be the most fun receiver to throw in if they were to take a receiver in the first round?

52:10Oh, God. With this offense? So to go along with Puka and Devontae. Thing is, 13 is basically, assuming Tate's gone. Yeah. You probably have your pick. We'll see. well could be two receivers gone if the dolphins go receiver and the browns so maybe you're looking at that next tier there if you're looking at that next group of like lemon boston all that group there i mean that could be an interesting makai lemon spot now is he too duplicative do you think that that that might be my only concern there like yeah but i'm trying to think of the rest that group after the first two guys, I kind of lose interest.

52:56Uh, I gave you the Cardinals. How much time do you have? Uh, yeah, exactly. Uh, I mean, again, you know, they're an interesting quarterback team. Like they're one of the ones, you know, we, um, I talked to Daniel Jeremiah on our show the other day and he said like, you know, the, them in the second round, I think in the thirties was potentially where he had, uh, Ty Simpson going off the board there. This could be an interesting one, but I put quarterback, right tackle, and edge, and I think they're going to be one where it'll be fascinating to see. I've seen people mock them both ways, but they've been a common Francis Maui Noah venture for there.

53:34I'm more of a Spencer Fano guy, and since he played on the right side there, I think that could be a nice fit too, but either way, perimeter beef. Yeah, I wrote quarterback, right tackle, edge, and then linebacker, so we're very same-minded here um the top of this draft is so hard to project because the edges and like i because because nobody had there's no consensus on not just even who edge one is but how you would rank the top three i've seen in every possible oh there's only you know there's not that many permutations but the point is uh it's three guys it could be any of them i do think edge or right tackle are the positions I would probably address early if I was them um and and the tackle thing is interesting because it's similar I would say it's a similar logic to the Browns where if you're thinking about next year and setting up your quarterback for success I do think it's something you have to consider um you know I think secondary needs receiver corners things that they could address but those to me jump out as the most obvious ones uh I'll go Seahawks here.

54:43They don't have that many needs. I was being a little bit dramatic, but running back, guard, and corner are the three ones. And then I put safety as a second level need. Running back, they signed Emmanuel Wilson. Zach Charbonnet is coming off of injury. It seems faded in stone that, faded in stone? Written in stone, that John Schneider is going to indulge his favorite thing in the world, which is drafting a running back at some point. How early is the question? But guard and then the much maligned Anthony Bradford spot on the offensive line and then corner, right? Because Tariq Willen's gone. So you've got they brought back Josh Jobe, who I thought was pretty good, honestly.

55:31But the more cornerback depth you have, the more flexibility you have with Devin Witherspoon, who's about to get paid a lot as well. Eamon Worry's kind of their de facto big nickel, but I think a perimeter corner is something I would target if I were them. I'm very interested to see if they're the team, because again, knowing the proclivities of John Schneider, Jadarian Price is going to be sitting there at the end of the first round. And the one thing we do know about this year's class is the drop off from RB two to RB three is so steep. I'm just saying running backs in need and you could get the second best one with fifth year control and be good to go here.

56:13I think he's better than Zach Charbonnet. I think he could come in and easily be your RB one. Like I, again, I'm the Notre Dame Homer guy, but I think he's a good player. And again, this to me is just about, it gets so like, usually there's running backs in a million different, like think about the draft last year we had running backs like they were going on a style in a million rounds you got it at a need and that position goes off a cliff after that or you take jonah coleman and cater to the hometown crowd and later in the draft fourth round come on uh yeah it's definitely a possibility for them i would not one that i would do uh okay san francisco wrap it up yes uh i went uh edge uh nick bosa and michael williams both coming off acls wide receiver you brought in mike evans and Christian Kirk, but still need to add more there.

57:00You know, obviously Ricky Pierce saw on that group coming back healthy, but safety then was the other one that I wrote down there. Still got some good players, but losing Jason Pinnock this offseason, adding, you could do to stand to add a little bit there as well. Yeah. A lot of the positions are like kind of contingent on how you feel about guys coming back or situations, shall we say? Like, is Trent Williams going to be the Niners left tackle next year? that's like the, because absence of that, the team's in good shape. I mean, I agree with all of your needs. I would say they could add a corner as well.

57:35Um, another tight end, you know, to succeed Kittle, all that. But you know, it's still assuming people come back and look good. If Bosa comes back and we know Warner, so yeah, you feel good. But if you take Williams out, the whole thing kind of gets real shaky, real quick, particularly the offensive line, which makes me think this is kind of like a Walter. He knows he has leverage, and Trent Williams has never been one to shy away from using his leverage. So we'll see. Yeah, so I think the Niners are an odd team to me because it's like a lot of it depends on self-scouting and their own perception of the state of the roster and the players, and it's kind of hard to know.

58:17And it's also one of the things where the draft might tell us a little bit, right? Like if they go after edge, maybe they're a little bit, maybe they didn't like love everything they saw from Mikel, or maybe they think Bosa needs time. You know, we'll learn a little bit about it. Um, all right. AFC West. I shall go first. Uh, and I will start with a very stacked team, Denver Broncos.

58:47Linebacker. Uh, A tight end to me, you know, you could upgrade their defensive tackle, perhaps with Franklin Myers gone. What else? That's really about it. Like I only put tight end near the top of that, just knowing like Sean Payton's proclivity for that, like Joker role that people thought Evan Ingram might occupy. And, you know, last year wasn't maybe everything that people wanted in that spot, but it's just the one place that you feel like at this point they could probably stand to upgrade a bit but no that's about it like this should be another year of a really strong broncos team how crazy like if your primary team is line me is linebacker and tight end you've got a good roster like how we've all been talking about these teams we're like why receiver corner edge they could also use a quarterback like the broncos linebacker cool um it is the only thing is interesting is just because they did the trade for Waddle and obviously receiver would have been the need before.

59:53They don't have a lot of draft capital, right? Because they have a second round pick and then they don't have the third. They have two fourths. So I'll be interested in seeing how aggressively they maneuver if there's like a linebacker they really like perhaps. But stack team. Okay, team that is less stacked, shall we say. Kansas City Chiefs. What you got? It's a lot. It's a lot. I focus mostly on defense, cornerback and defensive line. Like, you need someone there to help out Chris Jones up front. That defense had gotten way too reliant on Spags being able to bail them out. You traded away McDuffie.

1:00:35You lost Jalen Watson. Like, I've seen some people wondering if maybe a LeJarius Snead reunion could be in the works. But, you know, that secondary getting a pretty big-time overhaul this offseason. So my focus was a lot on that side of the ball. Like offensively, I feel like a broken record here, but I still think this is a team that has a desperate need at wide receiver run. Like even if these guys are healthy and not in, you know, Rishi Rice levels of constant off the field issues, like I don't think any of these guys, Xavier Worthy, fast gadget player more than stretch the field guy. Like they need someone they can rely on there, especially as, you know, you know, re-signing Travis Kelsey.

1:01:13like you just don't have what feels like a number one option for you know pat mahones or whoever's a quarterback there to start the season i guess justin fields potentially one of the most interesting teams in the draft to me because all three of those positions are ones they could hit i believe at nine edge corner receiver edge if the big three are off the board maybe you take that off out. But could be another great Tyson team. Could be a Mansoor Delane team. Come on now. Love that pick for them. Love that fit. Big, expensive positions because Vich hasn't drafted well, man. The last few years, the offensive line picks look good but the defensive line picks have not worked out um so yeah because right like edge you're looking at carl aftis fau ashton they did add caris tonga my deformation nose tackle who i like a lot but yeah edge corner are the two biggest needs for me all right uh i will go raiders i was surprised by how many needs they still have despite the fact that they spent so much money in free agency.

1:02:35I guess it just speaks to the state of the roster. And especially the ones that concern me are the ones that are on offense because you have the rookie quarterback. Receiver, right tackle, to me, pretty glaring. Needs defensively, corner, safety, and then edge kind of off the board, I guess, with Crosby back. but I think one of the, I talked about this with Kevin last week, one of the really big losses of the Crosby trade being undone is I really think that 14th pick could have been used to help on offense and now they don't have that additional first-round pick to add a receiver because I really feel like they need to add someone else.

1:03:21Oh, desperately. Like, again, having a fully healthy Brock Bowers for a young quarterback and a great center like Linderbaum is an awesome building block to start this thing. But, yeah, no, agreed on all fronts there, especially wide receiver was the one there. I always think you can get more help on the offensive line too. But it's that one. Where are you at on bringing in that quarterback thing, Fernando Mendoza, whether or not to start the season right away from him? How do you view that? So, Kirk Cousins is the name being thrown out there. I don't hate it, especially, you know, Mendoza didn't play under center.

1:04:01And, well, you know, we're going to talk about him next week and maybe talk about this scenario. And they do need someone. To me, like, it is though kind of also a reflection of, like, the state of the offense generally. Like, I want to see that the offensive line is coming together and I want to feel a little bit better about this receiving group before you're throwing in Mendoza. so yeah, the quarterback two is obviously another need that they have to address. Um, chargers is you, uh, yes. Interior offensive line, please. God, like, I know they brought Cole strange over. I know they signed Tyler Beatish, but like, I still think there's more work to do.

1:04:44You saw what a tire fire that looked like last season. I get so many people pointed to the tackle injury, but man, it was deeper than that. Like that group desperately needs some help there. Uh, I also think cornerback potentially on the defensive front giving some added boost there for them. You're a little bit older, JTT. Obviously, big season popped last year, but getting him a little bit of help there would all be things on my to-do list for them. Yeah, he brought back Khalil Mack. Trade for away, he's gone. Tuley's been really good for them, but I do think they need more edge. but I mean, interior offensive line to me is number one here.

1:05:28Yeah, Slater, Penning, Beattish, Strange, Alt. If you want to be this ground and pound team and you added the fullback and you brought in the blocking tight end and that's all great, but if you don't address the guard position, I feel like it could all be for not. They could add another receiver for sure. a little bit secondary. They could add another tight end, but I think interior offensive line is... 22, it's funny because they're another team I've seen mentioned as a Sadiq team. Chargers fans, I got some pushback for that because they love Gadsden, but Gadsden's a very different style of tight end.

1:06:11Kolar is a blocker. Maybe it makes it a little less likely. I think what makes it less likely is the obvious need on the offensive line. um all right by the way tool is who i mentioned when i mistakenly said uh meant when i mistakenly said jtt so oh yeah apologies to the listener but that was you corrected it jtt is the third right these are probably their oh no who's what team is jtt on i i forget i just confused my like last names that tongue twisted me enough to where i usually get them all right uh NFC South. Let's do that one next. Boom.

1:06:54I'll go Bucs. First of all, shout out to a legend. Levante David retiring today. One of the best to ever do it, in my opinion. All-timer. Linebacker. He's in here. And Edge. Otherwise, I still feel pretty damn good about this roster, I gotta say. I was looking at it. Obviously, things fell apart last year, and there was injuries throughout. But even with Mike Evans gone, the receiving group is still in decent shape. You could add there. You brought back Kate Auton. The offensive line is great. They signed Kenneth Gainwell. So I think offensively, I still feel pretty good. You could add players, but I'm very much prioritizing the front seven.

1:07:37I feel like Edge has been in need for this team now since the Super Bowl run. Yaya Diaby is a good player. They brought in Alec Hadin Muhammad, who was good in Detroit. But this is, to me, continues to be something they need more from, is that four-man rush has just not been good enough. And then linebacker, they signed Alex Anzalone. Dennis was not great. You know, would be another... I'll stop saying this would be a dream Sonny Stiles team. They're picking way too late, but at 15. But yeah, front seven for me. Yeah, 20th in pressure rate when not blitzing last year. So this team desperately needs some juice off the edge that they're not getting right now.

1:08:18So full cosine on both of those there. That was what I had was edge and linebacker, and that was before the Levante David news became crystallized, but we kind of figured it was maybe going that way. Saints are a fun one. What do you have for the Saints? I started it off with wide receiver before anything else, Like, especially now that, you know, you feel like you got something at quarterback with Shuck. You know Olave can go out there and get it done. You've invested a bunch of, you know, recent draft capital in your offensive line, most recently with Kelvin Banks. Like, go get him someone else to throw to there.

1:08:52Go try and figure out another weapon for that offense and, you know, call it a day for that. So that, to me, top of the list there. Like, obviously, this is a team early on before the offseason started that was one of the first two rumored Jeremiah Love Landing spots in that 8-9 spot with Kansas City, but goes out there and signs Travis Achan, who we now learn how to pronounce his name the right way because of that. So shout out to him. Congrats to the young man for doing that. But I started out with there. What else did you have?

1:09:23Wide receiver is a pretty obvious one here. Olave is awesome. and I think that was obviously a career where I wasn't sure. I think having him kind of reestablish as your wide receiver one is great. But behind him, Tipton, Valey, Jalen Paul, Bub Means, you need another wide receiver. And really you could take any style, honestly, to pair with Alave. I think there's kind of a few different skill sets that are still missing in this group. but offensive line um I think you know they they were the ones that signed David Edwards from Buffalo to a pretty big contract but you know I now that when I step back and I look at the group I feel pretty decent about them um you mentioned running back so yeah I feel like they're it's in a nice spot you know where because they you feel good about giving the quarterback another year and seeing what you got in him you can start just trying to improve the circumstances around him And then defensively, I mean, I've talked about this.

1:10:27This is a defense that really actually quietly improved a lot last year and was actually above average by the end of the season. There's some, you know, I think they could add a corner opposite Goulet McKinstry edge. Although, you know, I think, I mean, Chase Young's been good for them, Granderson, and then they actually brought back Caden Ellis, which was kind of a sneaky under-the-radar signing. So that's going to help your blitz package. So, you know, I feel decent about maybe you could add a corner, but I feel pretty good about where things are trending. And, like, if you're a Saints fan, like, that's pretty nice to, like, you know.

1:11:04It's crazy. Yeah, like, I think it finally feels like things are trending in the right direction. Caps starting to get cleaned up. It is, though, like, you know, I'm looking at some of these teams, there's a zillion needs. I actually feel like they're starting to kind of figure out who their young core is. So I think another great receiver, another corner would be nice, but you feel good about that. All right. Receiver was the pretty, pretty clear one for them. I will go, I will do the Panthers. Another team where I took, I was like, this roster feels like it's headed. Yeah. So I wrote edge still.

1:11:48Safety. And then as other needs, I wrote linebacker two, slot receiver, nickel corner. You know, you're in good shape when you're saying slot receiver and nickel corner as opposed to you need a... Here's the thing about the Panthers, right? You got the wide receiver one. You got the tackle. You got the corners. And you paid a pass rusher. So you actually now have really good to great players at all of these valuable positions. And suddenly everything gets a lot easier. I still think they need more at those positions. But all told, it's coming together, I think, nicely compared to a couple years ago.

1:12:39No, 100%. Grown leaps and bounds there. Outside of some of the defensive stuff, you mentioned the only other thing, Like, I guess it depends on what level of sold you are on Luke Fortner coming over there at center. Like, center could still be one, losing Cade Mays this offseason. And then, yeah, just adding more to the wide receiver room. Like, Ted Rowe came over and was exactly what you'd hoped he'd be as a big target for a small quarterback. You know, continue to layer some options in there. But center was the one that I just thought, like, long and hard about for an offensive line that, you know, a few offseasons ago you spent so much money around.

1:13:11We talked about with the Bears, it's a somewhat protected position in the interior there. but still an important one, especially when you've got one of the smaller quarterbacks in the league of making sure that's short up. Quick timeout, some breakfast Intel you want to know about Kodiak frozen power waffles and flapjacks are built for busy mornings. Heat it, eat it. And you're out the door. What do you have for the Atlanta Falcons?

1:15:44I said D lineman and linebacker just based off who they lost there. Anya Mata leaves in free agency. You mentioned Ellis goes over in division to the Saints there. So you signed Christian Harris. You have Divine Diablo there. But in general, like you went out and did some of the yeoman's work last year of, you know, nailing Xavier Watts as your safety pick. You know, I'll be at James Pearson edge now looks, you know, who knows what's going to happen there. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, edge. Yeah. But, you know, Jalen Walker is still a productive player there as well after last year. But, yeah, attacking D-line and linebacker for a defense that made huge strides getting after the quarterback seems appropriate.

1:16:24it. Yeah, I just wrote defense yet again, minus safety. You could hit any position on defense, even though you have found, I think, I like Walker, I'm optimistic about him. Watts looks like a hit, no doubt, but you still have needs at all of the defensive positions outside of safety corner, right? It's like Terrell Hughes, boom. I mean, it's just could get a lot better there. And then another wide receiver would be the other thing I would add. Right now, It's Drake London, Zaccheaus, and I think Johan Dotson is their wide receiver three. They signed Brian Robinson to back up Bijan, forming the elusive B-Rob, B-Rob backfield, which we love.

1:17:07But yeah, it's... Tale as old as time with the Atlanta Falcons. Defense, even though the defense did improve last season, could still get better. All right. Finally, the AFC South. I should go first. I'm going to do the Jags.

1:17:32Front seven. That's what I wrote. That could be defensive tackle. Could be edge. Could be linebacker with Devin Lloyd. The secondary, actually, I think, is in decent shape. You got Hunter now playing corner primarily. Kept Monteric Brown. Jordan Lewis was great for them. Antonio Johnson's been a good safety. They get out of safety. But really, front seven to me, you see some holes. And I think if they want to build on the momentum they had. You know, last year was great with Campanile, and there's a reason why he was getting some head coach buzz. But it was pretty schemed up, and I feel like they just need a few more dudes up front.

1:18:15Defensive tackles have been an issue with them forever, it feels like. But this is also a reflection of the fact that the offense, I think, is in pretty good shape. It kind of depends on what happens with BTJ necessarily. If they actually trade him, that's a need of receiver. But yeah, I feel like they could focus on the defense because it's probably where most of their needs are. Yeah, this is crazy to me. Josh Hines Allen had 80 pressures last year. No one else on the rest of that defense had more than 34. Like there's just nothing else they were getting up front. Big step back year, Trevon Walker, who for a while looked like a bad pick, then was putting up some decent pressure numbers and stuff against the run, but just doesn't seem like he's going to afford you that same level of juice.

1:18:59I said edge and linebacker, so same difference. Texans, what do you got? Texans, I went offensive line, running back, D-line, and wide receiver were kind of my areas there. Defensive tackle, Sheldon Rankins and Logan Hull both signed two-year deals, but you could add some more depth there. Obviously, Edge has been pretty awesome there. David Montgomery, 28 years old, getting a young guy in the building there to kind of help give them some added stuff there. But, you know, guard an offensive line. They signed Ed Agram, re-signed Trent Brown, brought in Braden Smith. But you were 30th in pass block win rate and last in run block win rate last year.

1:19:44and we saw, man, like the version of CJ Stroud you got last year when the games mattered and all of a sudden he was under pressure in the postseason. Like, you know, you tried. Your hockey line changed it a bit last year, and they seemed content to kind of do that again this year. But trying to get some added beef in the middle there probably would be worthwhile. Yeah. Interior offensive line I had written down. You know, I did like they brought back Ingram, who had a good year. Braden Smith gives you at least competent tackle play. but still an area they could address um running back this strikes me as a good jadarian price team by the way that i could see that working but i had that as well uh i wrote depending on what you think daniel hunter how long he can play you might need to start adding some edge depth there uh but otherwise the defense is of course stacked you mentioned the defensive tackles yeah The team is in good shape.

1:20:41There's a reason why they made it as far as they did. It's funny to not say receiver after they lost all their receivers, but they just have so many. It feels some combination of Collins, Higgins, Noel, Dell, Hutchinson should be enough, and I would continue focusing on the offensive line. Titans. It's so many. Yes. this is a funny thing right like about these teams that spend a lot is you still the panthers spent a lot and actually i think it reflects the fact that the roster was in decent shape to begin with it's if your offensive line is already pretty good but right uh i mean this is why i never found the titans to be a good jeremiah love team i know we keep hitting that but because there's just so many glaring needs and needs that are important to the development of the young quarterback I don't look at this Titans roster and feel like they've done anywhere close enough for Cam Ward.

1:21:45Start there. Brian and Wondell Robinson, it's fine. Okay. Productive player. He's not a one to me. So it's still Robinson, I'm on our Ridley. DK, wide receiver. Right now your tight ends are Helms, Bellinger, tight end. The interior of the offensive line, Cordell Volson. Yep. at guard, Schlotman at center. So that's an issue. So wide receiver, tight end, and interior offensive line all need to work. And then on the other side, edge, linebacker. This is not a team that can start running back at four to me. It's crazy. I think the only thing that's going to be tricky for them is where they're picking either you take an edge or you probably want to trade down.

1:22:34Wide receiver, tight end, and interior offensive line are all so important right now. Yep, I would agree. And I know trading for Jermaine Johnson is great and there's familiarity with Sala. But if you get the guy you like from that three that you think could work well in this, you'd be hard-pressed not to do that. But for my money, the ideal world would be... Let's put it this way. if they could trade back and be in position for the guard out of Penn State whose name I always butcher. Now I'm so sensitive about saying these guys' names wrong. I think it's Venga Ione. Ione? Ione? Ione, sorry, yes.

1:23:26I listened to Daniel Jeremiah say that the other day. It's Venga Ione, yes. Okay. Yeah. So either way, if you're like, if you're in need, like true need. And to your point, if you look at what the Patriots did so well last year for Drake, it was saying, Hey, like I understand how the season ended, but with Will Campbell, like attitude adjustment played well the first half of the season before the injury, I thought like, go get him a mauler on the inside. This dude is my favorite offensive lineman in this class. Really? Stop. Like he's not as athletically gifted as some of these other guys, but he is so what I want in a first round offensive lineman, which is to plug him in right away, feel like there are no technical issues I have to worry about.

1:24:07He's big enough to anchor and stop a bull rush. I think he is an elite pass protector in terms of like hands, feet, keeps his head out of stuff. Like I found myself very smitten with him. And so if you are them and you could trade back, get something and still be in range to take him since he'll be probably the only true interior guy. we talked about some of these guys have some flexibility. People talk about like he'd be one that I would love to have on my roster. Cause I think you put them in right away and you're, you're clear for the next decade. Colts are our final team. Who you got?

1:24:48I actually went for them on defense and said, edge would be a good spot to start. Like Liatu Latu eight and a half sacks last year, but really like that's all you feel like you can count on right now. So, uh, want them to be able to get after it there. And, uh, that was, that was the top one I had written down. Yeah. I have edge as the number one, right. Tackle Smith's gone. Uh, linebacker linebacking room is rough. Uh, everybody's gone. Uh, and then a second safety. Um, I feel decent about the receiving group, even with Pittman gone, Pierce, Downs, Westbrook-Kine. Yep. Tight end are great. Could add another back, but I think it's mostly defense to me outside of right tackle.

1:25:44It'll be – Colts are a funny one because the Daniel Jones contract is to just that they want to contend now, and they believe he can compete next year. So I'll be interested in seeing how aggressive they are about filling some of these holes. But, you know, the roster is still in decent shape. I just don't know. It's hard to gauge without seeing, knowing Jones' exact timeline, how competitive they're going to be early on. You could argue quarterback as well, but I don't think, I think they're, well, I mean, also Riley Leonard played pretty well coming in relief. So I don't think that's something they're going to address.

1:26:29No, but you're right. And especially in that division where now all of a sudden, like you said, Jacksonville looks to have their head screwed on straight. Until further notice, the Texans are going to be in the divisional round basically every year, regardless of what's happened on offense. So it's an uphill battle. All right, that's it. We did all 32 teams. uh, biggest surprise is how much I love the Pittsburgh Steelers roster. I feel like, wow. Uh, Mike, where can people find you? Where can people find Golic and Golic? Uh, yes. Golic and Golic, three 30 to five 30 Eastern on the FanDuel sports network.

1:27:07Uh, also shameless plug, as we talked about a lot of Notre Dame guys, uh, you can check out the echoes me and Jessica Smetana, uh, do a Notre Dame based football podcast that drops once a week, every Tuesday. So check it out. Uh, uh, Jeremiah Love talk next week, by the way, because so, so as I mentioned, we're doing quarterbacks and running backs next week. We'll talk about both Notre Dame backs. I'm excited. I know I feel like Love's come up so many that I genuinely believe the team needs pod or looking at the draft through the lens of team needs is something you have to do before you talk about Jeremiah Love, because a lot of these teams that are being associated with him have very big needs at other positions.

1:27:47So he's a great player. I'm excited to talk about him, but this was important, I think, to get out there. So as I mentioned, David Dennis Jr. and I on our television pod, viewer discretion, are recapping Paradise. Our latest episode is already out next week. It'll be the finale. That'll be out on Tuesday. Go check that out. And then we are going to start recapping The Boys, which is one of my favorite shows. Do you watch The Boys? I do. I love The Boys. It's final season. Can't wait. So check that out. on youtube.com slash at Mina Kimes, or wherever you get your pods. Thank you, as always, to everyone at Omaha Productions who makes this show.
