In short
Mina Kimes “Power Hour 3” has co-host Domonique Foxworth (Dominique Foxworth) rank all 32 NFL teams, using divisional matchups and debating roster moves, coaching, and unit strengths (offense vs defense).
Guest
Domonique Foxworth, former NFL player and longtime NFL analyst/commentator; he joins Mina as the “host” for this episode’s rankings.
Key claims
- Rams are #1 over Seahawks because of offseason additions, especially Miles Garrett, despite speculative offense-line (“exhaust port”) concerns.
- Seahawks are #2, with optimism about offense and continued strength from Mike McDonald’s defense.
- Broncos beat Bills due to a better team profile: Jalen Waddle upgrade and a defense projected stronger than Buffalo’s.
- Bills beat Texans because Texans’ run game/offensive line are unproven; Bills’ offense is viewed as reliable.
- Jaguars rise high (Travis Hunter; Liam Cohen’s second year), but Texans’ defense pushes them slightly above.
- Eagles are a defensive-led team; Jaguars are favored over Eagles due to higher “floor” from both sides and continuity.
- Ravens rise on Jesse Minter defense and improved defensive health (e.g., Matabuike on track), despite offensive coordinator changes.
Notable examples
- Debate over quarterback vs team: Bills vs Broncos (Waddle; top-13/14 offense threshold).
- Eagles vs Chargers/Cowboys/Ravens/Jags: repeated emphasis on which unit has the most confidence (Eagles defense; Cowboys offense; Ravens defense).
- Late-rank disagreements include Vikings vs Buccaneers (Bucs defense youth + offensive line health) and Chiefs vs Vikings (expecting above-average defense and Mahomes returning early).

0:18Welcome back to the Mina Kimes show featuring Lenny, Power Hour Edition. We're doing a little bit of a twist today on the concept. The concept remains the same, but I thought, and I've done this before, to mix things up so it doesn't feel like I'm always introducing the same teams, doing things in the same order, yada, yada, yada. Instead of me being the host and picking the choices, I would give the opportunity to my frequent co-host my friend the host of the dominique foxworth show featuring dominique foxworth i should say johnny carpets um dominique foxworth hey how do you feel about doing this how do you feel about playing the mina kimes role this week the the funny thing is like you make it seem like you're i feel like this is the easy job the job that you're giving me is the easy job i mean i get that i get that you have less responsibility in that job you don't you people can't yell at you even though they really should because you're the right yeah that's what i'm saying that's the perfect thing because it's like yeah the choices i give you are actually me telling you what i think but you're the one that's making the choice so ultimately people are going to be mad at you i just made a list and then if the list comes out all messed up i'm like me um well i i it's funny because i made my initial list to do this i've changed my thoughts a little bit doing the division previews and I've done a few now starts to kind of change some of my the way I think about certain teams um so we'll see uh by the way next week we'll be back again on Monday Bill Simmons friend of the pod is going to be doing his rankings he's joining me for that uh so I will go back to hosting but it's Dominique this week yeah yelling him you heard him if you don't like this all right Dominique I'm ready give me the choices for one I will be keeping track of my whiteboard for the YouTube audience no problem all right so like I would like to throw some curveballs in at some point because it'll be fun but i couldn't quite bring myself to throwing a curveball at the top like there are two teams that i think are pretty obvious it's the rams and the seahawks that you're gonna have to make a choice about i'm gonna avoid making the joke that everyone makes about you being a seahawks fan because i know you are an unbiased observer when it comes to power hour yeah i've been thinking about this choice which i've given everyone through the lens of okay what is the knit you pick with the Rams, right?
2:42Because the Rams to me seem very clearly to be the best team in the NFL because of the additions they made during the off season. If the Rams didn't, so I'll just start here. If the Rams didn't trade for Miles Garrett, I would pick the Seahawks. I would, but I mean, it's just very, you know, I had the Seahawks defense above the Rams defense, Dominique, and it could shake out that way. And I think coaching is a massive factor there, but it is really easy to imagine a world as well in which everything goes according to plan for los angeles and the defense is the best defense in the nfl and the offense is the best offense in the nfl uh so the what do i call it the uh exhaust port and the death start is the offensive line on the rams but that remains speculative at this point so i will pick the rams for my number one team in football yeah that makes sense i think that the you could make the argument that the rams were better last year or they could have I know that the Seahawks won the Super Bowl so like the Miles Garrett addition I think sometimes when you are projecting teams and you use the things that they've added as a reason to say that they're better sometimes it's hard because you can't predict the way that the projections are added but this defense was good last year I know yeah and they improved with corners that you know you can trust in Miles Garrett like and maybe Aaron Donald we're doing that on PTI today and I was like let me look up Aaron Donald's numbers in 2023 when we retired.
4:05Do you know what he ranked in pass rush when? When he retired? First. First. Anyways. All right. What's the next choice? Moving on. Bills. I'll put the bills next. Bills. Okay. No. Can I take it back? I take it back. Rescind it. Rescind it. Broncos. Okay. Broncos have been very high on my list. Weirdly not that high in like FPI and some of the other metrics. I'm doing the AFC West this week, by the way. So I'll get dig into the Broncos. I think the Broncos are stacked. I actually also have them on top of the AFC, like you, above the Bills. Because the questions I have about the Bills defense, which we'll get to.
4:48But I also think the Seahawks, I actually think, could be better than they were last season. I know that they won the Super Bowl. but I think that this off I'm really optimistic about the offense and some of the choices that they've made defensively a few losses on that side of the ball but Mike McDonald defenses have not shown any sign they just get better right um so I think Seattle is stacked enough for me to feel comfortable about them I'm a bit more comfortable with the quarterback as well than Denver, even though I do love some of the things that Denver did. So Seahawks for me at two, Super Bowl champs, complete coaching.
5:38I guess the offensive coordinator is an unknown, but I still feel good about them. Yeah, I like it. I mean, I thought I was going to get you to throw a curveball there, but I guess I should have known. Would you have picked the Broncos? um I probably wouldn't have for fear of having to argue with people about the Super Bowl champs not being one or two but I think there's a real argument I guess the question comes down to the difference in those quarterbacks the quality and and the defenses I think are good the additions that were made for the Broncos from Waddle feels more impactful although like Shahid you could argue for the Seahawks that they are once they added Shahid having a full offseason with Shahid I think gonna make a big impact losing Kenneth Walker I think it's probably less of a loss than most people think but yeah I mean I think it's pretty close I think it's probably right to to defer to the defending Super Bowl champs all right so you're gonna are you gonna go Bills Broncos yeah I'm going Bills next I had an old list that's what I was going off before that's where the mistake was from now scroll down to my more modern list yeah this is tricky you know I positioned it to um Ryan as quarterback versus team, because the Bills have the better quarterback, the Broncos have the better team.
6:53I think that the Bills offense is going to be better than the Broncos offense, even though I love the addition of Jalen Waddell. But the Broncos defense, I view as significantly better than the Bills defense. So my feeling when I compare these teams is if the Broncos have a top 13 to 14 offense, this is a better team. And I think the Waddle addition puts them in that territory. I'm so high on the Jalen Waddell trade I think he was like exactly the player that they needed in that offense terms of attacking the I'm talking about this in depth this week but the middle of the field intermediate zone defense getting yards after the catch all the things they've been missing so I'll go Denver here who of course beat Buffalo to advance the playoffs can I ask you a question about the first time head coach is there any discount rate for a first time head coach for because I think that weighs into it also.
7:55It's like that. I think bringing Oliver back healthy, hopefully for that defense will help. That's part of the issue, but there has to be some learning curve for a first-time young head coach. Yeah, it definitely factors in, even though I think it's a little bit muted here because they went internal. And I also really like the defensive coordinator hire. I think it's really exciting and fun. I think if he had not... From the Broncos, right? Didn't they get... Yeah, right. Right, so this is the Jim Leonard revenge. No, I mean, it's not a revenge thing. Yeah, there will be some teams, I think, where that's reflected.
8:29And somewhere I think it could actually be a positive change. I'll get to one of those. All right, let's go Texans. Ooh. Yeah, now we're getting spicy. Now we're getting spicy. Go ahead and disrespect my defense if you want to. So we're Texans versus Bills. This is the opener, right? Texans versus Bills, which is going to be awesome. a very very good offense against a very very good defense a questionable offense against a questionable defense is how I view this game so this is tough right offense is usually more sustainable year to year than great defense but the Texans defense I rank number one on my rankings I think in terms of like who's going to I think I'm going to go Buffalo here even though I did have the Texans defense as the number one because I am still skeptical of the Texans run game and their offensive line.
9:27I think I need to see it, even though I think it will be better. I have no questions about the Bills offense. Bills defense also in this particular – they're not playing each other, I realize, but I still have questions about the Bills run defense. you know um but i think it won't matter in a lot of games because of their ability to play with the lead what would it take for you to put the texans above the bills like what in your mind would have to work out i guess it's the run game it's the yeah if you could tell me that the texans have an above let's say 17th or 18th run game then i would be totally comfortable putting them in the Super Bowl because in that world I feel like CJ Stroud is not forcing the ball he's able to do all of the things like him that play action like game the attacking the inter the middle of the field he's so good on those in breakers I think all of that will flow really well from just an average run game and if he's not in like third and long as much as he's been the last couple of years but I need to see it so I'm gonna go Bills all right let's go with the Travis Hunter led Jaguars.
10:43That's high. Yeah, I know. Another one. Another one for you. I like them. Yeah. I like them. Liam Cohen's second year with Lawrence. And yeah, I think the offense, obviously, it came together towards the end of the season. Or not towards the end of the season. Midway through the season. Yeah, I like this team. I'm high expectations on the talent on the defense. And it was only partially joking by saying that they were Travis Hunter led. but I do think Travis Hunter focused on one position can really improve this defense. Well, I'm glad you brought this up because I actually have been struggling a little bit with this divisional ranking, right?
11:17Because I think everyone's just going Texans. Right. But the Jags had a top five offense in the second half of last year and a top 10 defense over the course of the entire season. They did lose Lloyd. But gained Travis Hunter, right? on defense offensively um I think it's just kind of like do you believe in Trevor's ability to do it over the course of an entire season my one concern with Jacksonville is the offensive line but I also have that concern about Houston I think I'm higher on the Jags offense but I am significantly the Texans defense is so dominant that I'm going to go Houston here However, it is, I think, close.
12:06I think Jags have a case for quietly being one of the more balanced teams in the league. Like, you know, some of these teams, like, I'm like, the Bills will have a top three offense and then, like, maybe a top 18 defense. Like, the Broncos, well, you know, the – anyways, point is, the Jags are one of the very few teams where I'm like, I could very easily see this team finishing top 10 in both. But the Texans defense is just going to put them over the top here. Yeah. I mean, I think that's why – that's how I convinced myself to move to Jags. up as high as I did. But they're still up here. They aren't cemented yet.
12:39You might keep pushing them down. I think you'll have a tough one right now with the Eagles. Eagles versus Jags. Eagles defense. My top defense's pod. I think I had fourth or fifth. I forget. They were top five. Eagles offense did not make the top ten. The Eagles offense is a big question mark, right? We don't know. This is tough. Yeah. I mean, I think the question is how do you think Jalen Hurts is going to perform in his new offense is the question. Because the talent on the Eagles offense is good enough. Like, I think the guys that they brought in are more than adequate. Like, I really like Eli Stowers to take over and attack the middle field if Jalen wants to throw there.
13:24I think the offensive line is not perfect, of course, but they still have talent there. And I really think this is going to be a defensive-led team. I think this defense is going to be great. and they they aren't going to they'll be in all these games right and that's the question is are they going to blow people out because jaylen hurts plays well i think that's kind of remaining question it's a weird spot i think the rest of the team if you subbed out our feelings about the quarterback position uh i think we would have very little question about how good this team would be the and specifically the quarterback in this new offense is very like let's see it i don't think anyone is saying it's going to be a failure i think we all just have some like hesitation because we just haven't seen it and i think i also think that they put a lot of pressure pressure the wrong word but they made it pretty clear that they're kind of fed up well everything they've done you talked about this skill players they added not just the play caller they hired but all of the players they added make sense in the new offense right so it's like it is putting pressure on the quarterback to like kind of go along with the ride.
14:33And the article like was, I guess, in April before the draft that came out was like everybody was talking from inside the building. Like he going to be on the center. He going to throw over the middle. Like to me, it felt like. Yeah. Okay. So I've made my decision. I have all with these two teams, the single unit that I feel the best about is the Eagles defense. However, I feel the floor is higher. for the Jags because of, I think, the confidence I feel in both sides of the ball. Also, the continuity. I really like the fact that they kept Anthony Capanile calling the defense. Obviously, Liam Cohen calls the offense, and I think he is the real deal.
15:15So I'm going to go Jags. It's high, I know. But I'm high on the Jags. I'm glad you put them up so early. You could blame me if it's too high, but we'll say next up, I'll go with the Patriots. Okay. the A.J. Brown bowl yeah Patriots versus Eagles matching up I think that the Patriots are a better team wow and reminder folks this is not a wins projection yeah I think the primary criticism of the Patriots is just that they're placing a harder schedule I think and I've said I said this last week when we did the AFC East or two weeks ago we could it it's entirely possible that the Patriots finish with a worse record this year and maybe even a worse final result, but are a better team than what they were last year.
16:02I think this offense, which was, by the way, like the number two passing attack in football in DVOA, I think they're going to be more balanced. I think they're going to be better overall. A little bit worried about the lack of pass rushers, but I still think this is a very good defense. So I'll take New England here. Yeah, I think I'm a little bit surprised. Really? Yeah. Doesn't it feel like everyone's kind of low on the Patriots just because it's people? It's not just because of the Super Bowl. It's not just the Super Bowl. Playoff run. Yeah, yeah. Remember, they got exposed. They stink. And it's like, they weren't supposed to be there.
16:33They're ahead of schedule. And then they got better this offseason. Do you think they got better? I do think they got. I mean, the Patriots offseason, it's hard to determine the impact on their team going forward in the season. But I think the Patriots, probably from a talent standpoint, got a little bit better for sure. But, I mean, we'll see. see how Drake may perform, see if A.J. Brown is still at the level that we expect if his decline was less about his own physical efforts and more about the offense, which I think most people would think that's true. All right, I'll say Chargers up next.
17:06Chargers and Eagles. I'm going to take the Eagles here. You surprised me again. You're not moved at all by the idea that Herbert in this new offense with an explosive running attack. I know the defense should take a slight step back. That's my feel here. The offense could definitely be a top 10 offense. And I regretted after doing my top 10 offenses pod not putting them in there. Nate did. And after more I thought about it, I was like, yeah, I should have had them as a top 10 offense. However, again, I'm doing this, the AFC West this week. and looking at that defense, I felt kind of overwhelmed.
17:50Like there's good players, but I think it's very obvious they were very well coached. And like they're going to, Derwin James is obviously a star. There's some, you know, I like a lot of the players, but I don't, I would not be surprised if they're a little bit worse. So again, of the four units, Eagles defense is the one I feel the most confidence in. and I just think it nets out to a better result. All right. Chargers versus Cowboys.
18:24I'll go Chargers. Oh, okay. You keep sounding surprised. How are you surprised that I didn't have the Chargers and now you're surprised that I picked the Chargers? Yeah, I get what you're saying, why it doesn't make sense, but I am still surprised. because when after I listen to and I it's probably this is probably it it's you bump a team down so you kind of take some shots at them yeah yeah and then I'm gonna take him yeah that's probably what's happening in my mind but yeah I also like I'm I really like the Cowboys I think um it feels like everyone is starting to come around not come around but we all have a consensus that this offense is really good and when you start to look at the talent that they've put on the defense it's I think the reason why people should be high on the Cowboys is their defense was awful.
19:11And it's hard to imagine that this talent will allow their defense to again be awful. And I anticipate that their offense is going to be great. I don't think the Cowboys defense is going to be awful. But we're asking a lot of Caleb Downs, man. And I'm very high on him and his fit. And I know they made other additions, but there's still holes. linebacker edge is okay but like it's not a group of world beaters in my estimate maybe we'll see what malachi lawrence brings i'm second corner i don't know i i well i know the added kobe duran's a good player but yeah they're i mean they're not without holes i think the expectation is can they get to okay yeah yeah and so that's what i'm thinking i'm not they're not going to be world beaters they're not going to be 10 and 0 yeah but um or 10 and 0 they're not going to be 17 and 0 but uh i guess the expectation is that they would be better but and schottenheimer has really proven himself to be like a great and a great like a good head coach like and really made a lot of us look silly for so uh i i do like the cowboys i just think the chargers are more balanced and i do i think the offense is going to be awesome they're going to be healthy at tackle which will help.
20:25All right. So Dallas Cowboys versus the, I mean, that we healthier they were last year. It's impossible not to be. Dallas Cowboys against the Baltimore Ravens. Okay. Here's the Ravens.
20:41I'll put the Ravens here. So this was the team that I alluded to when I said I actually think some head coach, new head coaches, I'm going to reward them. Listeners to this pod know I really liked the Jesse Minter hire. I'm very optimistic about the defense. I just saw a headline today from Eric DaCosta, the Ravens GM saying Matabuike is on track, which is a game-changing addition to that defense. Yeah. I mean, like, you know, it was an unbelievably injured defense last season. I think the question I actually have, I'm bumping them for Minter because I just think that defense is going to be way better.
21:17I do think it's reasonable and fair to have some skepticism about Declan Doyle, their new offensive coordinator, and some of the losses on the offensive line. And just generally, like, tight end, fullback, there's a lot of change on this offense. But I think it's more likely than not that the version of Lamar Jackson we saw last year was not who we're going to see this season, where he goes from ranking fourth in pressure to Zachary to 31st. I don't think that's going to happen again. So if the Ravens' offense, you know, with Lamar Jackson, it's usually a top-10 offense, I think this defense has top-10 potential too.
21:53So I just like the team as a whole. Yeah, no, I think that's right. Your point about the defense is huge. I think that the Ravens getting back to the closer to Mike McDaniel kind of defense, I think will help them. Yeah, certainly help them. All right, what about if I match up with the Bears and the Cowboys? Okay, there's a different Cowboys matchup I want. I want the Cowboys against their Wario at some point. All right. Well, I'm not going to get him because I'm going to take the Cowboys here. You know who I'm thinking of when I say the Cowboys? I don't. Who's the Cowboys' evil twin in the AFC?
22:29So somebody with a good defense and a bad offense? Yeah. No, no, the same. Oh, okay. Wario would be the same. I don't know what Wario or Mario is. I don't know. He with a great offense and a bad defense. I don't know. Oh, Bengals. Bengals. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Cowboys and Bengals are like the same team, right? Like they're literally similar. quarterbacks who play the same way. Two great receivers. And a defense that just needs to be average. I'm going to take the Cowboys over the Bears. I am dreading picking the NFC North. I am putting it off until the end because of the Vikings quarterback battle, but I just change my mind every day.
23:11So we believe that? Hold on. Time out. Vikings quarterback battle? Well, I mean, like, No, but I have to let it play out to do, you know, give my, I mean, we'll see. Anyways, point is, I'll get to Chicago in a second. I think Dallas top five offense, anything less than that would be a disappointment. So I feel comfortable. The Bears are the flashier team, not the flashier team, but like the offense is so flashy and explosive. They need to find some sustained success. A couple losses on the offensive line. Defense is the question there. We'll get to that. So I'll go Dallas. What do you think? Who has a better defense?
23:57The Cowboys defense or the Bears defense? I mean, the Bears defense for sure. I know it's very much turnover dependent last year, but yeah, they did get the turnoff. And they have a very good secondary, which they added to. So, all right. All right, Packers. All right. I'm forcing you into the division that you don't want to talk about. yeah i'll be um okay just gut feel here i'll go bears um however micah asked me again in december yeah i know which yeah i think which i know sounds like a cop out but we're doing power rankings to start the season here how do you um i don't know maybe you haven't done a lot of like film on the bears just yet but i i have i did a show with tice a couple days ago on his show on football 301 and i wanted to talk about the bear so i watched a lot of caleb um and i was surprised how i felt afterwards it was like i think there was caleb a lot of caleb improvement but i didn't feel like he was as good as i remembered if that makes sense i mean the highs are so high uh but i i'll talk about this more when we get to i actually i think some pairs fans got mad at me because i espn did it's like top 10 quarterbacks and i was actually quite surprised to see caleb over jordan love yeah it's absurd to me agree with um i think the highs are there the trajectory is there it's only been two years i get that but the down-to-down accuracy has to improve there's just some weird misses on tape.
25:39That's the thing that doesn't make sense is like you would assume that the explosive play, those like mind-blowing plays would also come with the mind-blowingly like attempts at those failing. That's not the problem that you see. But here's the thing about the Bears. I think that they have, and this is, you know, I have them over. LeFleur is great. He's awesome. I downgraded him because he kind of pissed me off a little bit last year with some of the run the ball stuff. but the point is he's very good yeah i think ben johnson has the potential to be one of like a kyle shanahan where it's like said it for me you're always i just think he's just that guy so anyways bears packers are still available not for long packers versus lions geez yeah i i i could just tell you what's happening right now it wasn't intentional but exactly what you think is happening is happening there's a team there's one team i'm shocked you haven't brought up all right it's not the bangles in the nfc oh yeah yeah i know what you're talking about 49ers yeah all right well we'll get to that get to that um i'm taking the packers over lions dude the i the lions defense holy mackerel they've got some problems there uh still gonna be good offense i had them top 10 offense even with some questions on the offensive line and play caller the skill talent is just too undeniable.
27:04I'm a Jared Goff believer, but the injuries on that Lions defense, some of the holes on the back end, some of the questions about when players are going to return, I just can't do it with them. All right. So next up Vikings. Vikings over Niners and Bengals. Yep. I got it. Here's the thing about the Vikings. Okay. So I had them higher on the Vikings than you are obviously well i had okay so i had the defense like six or sevens on my list yeah and and then i realized i was giving brian flores the kosh anhand of defense treatment because oh my god have you looked at that depth chart lately yeah i i must be doing the same thing i think you're right it's when i think about that defense i think about van ginkle's hair and brian flores that's it they get they they need we're not even getting to the because the case for the lions is that they only need average offense and the defense is so good and they were eight nine or whatever with where the nine meter eight nine point is that's an assumption they need some rookies on defense because they had to clear cap you know like granard's gun so and i don't even know i mean we'll see what we get from kyler i think it's he's definitely capable of giving them average quarterback play though so but i'm going to take the lions here because uh amongst those four those teams that lions offense i feel safe yeah i mean i from what i understand too harrison Smith's a big part of the communication on that defense and yeah he's chilling what's that is he chilling or is he gonna come back what's uh yeah I I don't know you said chilling watching love island oh yeah I thought you said is he like I I kept thinking you were saying is he Patrick Chung like I heard no I was just like he's just like he hasn't retired but he's not on team maybe he's want to go camp all right all right now we got bangles okay i'm really disrespecting the 49ers you really are yeah i'm gonna take the bangles over the vikings um no need to talk about the bangles offense the bangles defense it's funny i asked you about cowboys defense versus bears defense and we both agreed on bears cowboys defense versus bangles defense is a really fun question because obviously the Bengals did make a lot of improvements.
29:25They added a lot of, they added star Dexter Lawrence. They added some capable vets, Malfay and cook. I still worry about that run defense, but I think the offense should be good enough to where it doesn't matter too much. It will matter. It will be, it will matter though. I tell you right now it will matter. But I do like them more than the Vikings. And I'm assuming that in this Vikings 49ers matchup, you're going to take the 49ers i am yeah disrespected the niners is this so let me ask this is more interesting from your standpoint than mine yeah is it just eight degrees and you're like i don't i'm not going to do this i'm not going to i mean honestly it's probably i didn't expect them to to be as good as they were last year uh as and i i do think that it's hard to find where the the young answers are going to come from like you keep thinking it's going to catch up to him um and they already got to the point where mcafree's running attack was less impactful like i just have a hard time imagining this and then their answers is mike evans they're gonna go get someone who's even a little bit older uh the same issues on the defense is like um yeah warner is coming off an injury and of course he's the key to all that stuff on defense and they did play better on defense last year than anticipated they overachieved a bunch last year to me honestly and Maybe I should mean that I should anticipate them doing it again, but I don't.
30:51Yeah. Yeah. I know somebody was putting up the Niners drafts. I saw on social media and just how they've been. Yeah. And how much Chanahan compensates for it. It feels a little bit like LeBron joining, like Mike Evans feels a little bit like LeBron joining the Warriors where it's like, cool. We get to see like, you know, like, like Mike Evans and George Kittle on the same field is like LeBron and Steph Curry. or Christian McCaffrey, but also LeBron joining the Warriors, they're still not as good as, you know, Spurs and Warriors. That's a good ball take. All right. I'm still going to take the Niners over the Vikings.
31:29Yeah. All right. Let's take a quick break, come back, and do the second half. Niners fans, it's Foxworth at 24 if you want to yell at someone. Buster Olney here for La Quinta by Wyndham. All right, Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. okay this is good this is tough um i'm gonna go bucks here i like the bucks defense yeah i think that they have the potential to be good i know the secondary is kind of young and had their ups and downs last season parish morrison had the injuries and whatnot but i think that the addition of reuben bain jr and like sneakily Alex Anzalone.
34:59It's like one of those, like you're like, oh, this is really smart. And then I think the offensive line is really good. And if they're healthy, that's like something you can hang your hat on. Yeah, I'm really excited about Reuben Bain. Like I think it's going to be a fun watch. I mean, he was a fun watch in college. So that should be interesting. All right, next up, we got the Kansas City Chiefs. Man, how the mighty have fallen. yeah but you're not you don't have a problem with it with me bringing up this late yeah right this is about where they've been i think for me maybe a little bit higher um chiefs versus vikings i actually think i gave that choice exact choice to brandon perna and this is where he he was crying he came on he was like i'm gonna do a bit where i'm gonna just keep knocking on the chiefs and then i put the vikings he's like all right i can't do it anymore take the chiefs or vikings
Read the full transcript
35:54um okay so i've been thinking about the cheese because i'm doing that afc west and i kind of like all the additions on defense they're just young lane woods are mason thomas it's like a real injection of youth i think there could be some growing pains, but I think that it's more likely than not that it's an above-average defense by the end of the season. And the offense, it's so funny. What did they finish in DVOA even without all the criticism last year? All right, I'm taking the Chiefs. Wow. So you're expecting Mahomes back early, huh? Yeah. yeah um i don't know i guess i i'm we'll see yeah we'll see all right next up mando's my hometown team washington commanders returning the best young quarterback in football from a couple years ago whose injuries slowed him down jayden daniels uh they're bringing in that floret style defense which i'm excited to be able to watch that on local tv that should be fun and And I think the offense is, I don't know, I guess the question hanging over this team is like, how good is Jaden Daniels and how healthy is he going to be, right?
37:22So the Eagles and the commanders are both making those scheme change, right, on offense, similar scheme change. Which one do you think it's going to work out better for? That's a good question, actually. Right? Right, yeah. I mean, I think Washington has the better quarterback. um i think the eagles have the better collection of skill players yeah yeah so it's yeah everything else yeah right um but to both two unproven play callers too yeah i i think i i'm gonna go with uh
38:00i i mean if jayden daniels is healthy i have to say that it's washington right yeah i'm also optimistic about the washington front seven i really found myself after doing that yeah they really improved i'm sorry they really improved that said i'll take the vikings here the fall stops wow i think the vikings are i keep doing this i'm sorry it's so genuine too you offered me the vikings at like 15 and i just picked them at 19 uh i i i i do think that i'm not gonna be surprised next time i promise whatever you say next time no surprise uh vikings i feel better about the coaching staff feel better about you know the the defense i think the offense just needs to be average all right commanders and panthers here i will take the commanders it's a good choice by you um um Panthers are a tricky one for me because I think this defense could make a big leap but I just do not know how to feel about this offense at all so many questions no questions around Tet I love Tet I didn't like him coming out and now I love him I was dead wrong about that I wasn't i know about football i know everything i'm so smart all right um who's next uh colts colts versus panthers okay
39:33the team said fired frank reich bowl uh i don't know how to feel about the panthers offense i sure as hell don't know what to think of the colts man i'll take the panthers here i really yeah okay so i'll use this to talk about the panthers i think that i was so tempted to put the panthers defense in my top 10 as like a spicy making the leap pick because like on paper it's like the defense is extremely improved they have actual stars multiple positions very few holes i think a really good defensive coordinator in evero avero so i feel good about the panthers making the leap. I don't know what to make about the Panthers offense, but I also don't know what to make about Indianapolis.
40:20Yeah. I mean, Indianapolis, ton of talent and the skill position plays on offense, but the quarterback's a big question mark. And I guess that's a smaller part in the word play, but a smaller question mark at quarterback for the Panthers. Hey, I didn't mean it, but yeah, there's still a question mark there. All right. Your beloved Pittsburgh Steelers are up next. Steelers versus Colts. The Achilles bros. Achilles bros. Okay. I think of the four units, the Steelers defense is probably the one I feel the best about. I think the additions that the Steelers made, Michael Pittman Jr., Bernard, change on the offensive line, will help accommodate this version of Aaron Rodgers.
41:12So I'll take the Steelers here. I like that. I mean, I think the expectation of the Steelers defense is going to be better than they were last year. I mean, I guess they're still kind of old, but yeah, that would be the driving force of them, to me at least, being slightly better. All right, Atlanta Falcons, ATL, Shoudy. Falcons versus Colts. I will take the Colts here. Falcons have that new coach bump maybe, or is it not a bump? I do think it's a bump. I mean, I really liked that tire. The Falcons defense is a funny one because like, who did I talk about this with? Yeah, last week with Brandon, there's games where they looked like a top five defense.
42:04And then there were games where they looked like a below average unit to me. So I do like the fact that they kept their coordinator. You've got a lot of young players. Watts is going to be a star. But I don't know if I'm 100 % buying it and then the offense has so many questions with the quarterback uncertainty. Not that Indianapolis doesn't, but Shane Steichen, I think, has proven to be a really, really good play caller. I like Stefanski too. this is really close. I'll go Colts. Alright, let's add the New York football Giants to the mix. Falcons versus Giants. I'm going to go Falcons over the Giants.
42:49You're not enticed by all those defensive bodies that the Giants have? Well, interior at least. I still remain concerned about the run defense. Remain concerned about the cornerbacks secondary i remained concerned about like neighbors not playing football uh concerned about the quarterback running into people there's lots to be concerned about by the way for folks giants fans uh dominic had a great interview with john harbaugh that talked a lot about that the something you brought up with him uh as well as just talking about the offense in general i thought was really interesting so people should go check that out the donnie fox for show So, yeah, I think I'm just spooked by the neighbors factor.
43:39I am still interested to see what happens with Arbel Reese. Like, it seems like they're putting him off ball, right? And I don't know. He was one of the most exciting players to watch last year. So, I'm excited to see what happens with them in that defense. But, yeah, I think. Well, it should be. I mean, we talked about this in the NFC East preview. Like, the addition of him at Edmonds is like a massive upgrade, potentially at linebacker. And I think that will help protect the pass rushers. I'm so high on Abdo Carter. I just think the DTs are, it's us. Sent one out the door. As you know, managing maintenance, repair, and operations is never easy.

46:16Ask for O 'Reilly Veriscan today. All right, so now we got the Giants and the Saints. Okay. I was surprised you didn't have the Saints higher. Because you have them third. Or fourth. I mean, fourth in the division. That's surprising to me. So this means you're a shuck boy, right? That's the fan group that you originated. Is that how you have them ordered? Bucks, Panthers, Falcons, Saints? Probably not. Probably when I was making this list, I probably just... I didn't think about it that way. I should have. But I'm not the one on trial here. Thank you very much. I am the host of today's Power Hour.
47:03So apparently that's how you have them. I like the Saints. I'm feeling Saints optimism for the first time in many years. I like the additions that they made. I still think they're a few pieces away, both sides of the ball. I think one of the things I like the most about the Saints is the offensive line uh which I did Kevin Banks Jr. I went back and watched because he was my x-factor but I came away impressed with the young players and then they added David Edwards I think that could be a really good unit I really like Jordan Tyson pick I don't think the Saints are a like a playoff winning team yet but I think they're trending in the right direction coaching staff's good too man yeah awesome yeah you're right maybe i messed up by putting him this low i will accept criticism from saints fans no other fans are allowed to criticize my list i like all right raiders yes new orleans is the best i love new orleans raiders on deck raiders versus giants i mean raiders were really bad last year but they uh spent a lot of money and got a high draft pick So I guess holding some space for Mendoza to be incredible.
48:19And the offensive line overall, or the interior offensive line in particular, is going to be much better. And maybe, I mean, because they don't, Ashton Gentry, like we think he's good. Bowers, we think he's good. There's something there. They address their linebackers on defense. Like they... I'm going to go Giants. I'm still so apprehensive of this Raiders offensive line. I feel like it was you know the mission accomplished meme where the magician guy it's like an anime thing where he just goes mission accomplished I feel like they signed title and Irbon went mission accomplished and I'm like wait what about right tackle and guard left guard I don't know I just I do like where they're headed yeah they paid him a lot of money I do like the Raiders decisions I think the defense could actually be definitely above average but I just think it might take a second.
49:14All right. I'm going to say Raiders versus Titans. I'm going to go Raiders here.
49:27It's funny. The Raiders defense, again, AFC West this week, really statistically way better than you think. Them and the Saints are the two teams where when you look over the stuff over the course of the entire season, and you're like, whoa, not that bad, which is a credit to Patrick Graham in part, who's now the defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers, by the way. And of course, they made some additions at linebacker that I think will help a lot. I'm still a little bit apprehensive of the pass rush and the cornerback room, the secondary, but I do think the run defense is going to be good and they're going to be improved on offense, despite my apprehension about the offensive line.
50:08And just remember, how do we talk about the Steelers and not mention that the Tomlin expert? Oh, the new – yeah, right. The new everything. It's just that it's been a team that we could rely on being one certain type of team for so long, and now we have to assume that's going to be somewhat different. But, yeah, I mean, I don't think it'll be much better, but it'll be different. Yeah. I think a defense could be better. Yeah. Cardinals, Arizona. Wow, up here. I mean we get that hold on you know who I'm naming after this you know this is you know where we are we're at 28 29 30 31 32 there's five spots left hold on yeah take a pause make sure you have six teams left I do it's 32 teams there we go hold on all right we'll see we'll figure it out when we get there we'll make up some teams and throw them at the end all right well um so it was Titans versus Cardinals I'm taking the Titans
51:12Titans um I do think the Titans offense will be better I am excited about some of the additions for Cam Ward I still have some questions about the offensive line and then I have a decent amount of questions about the defense. But the Cardinals, to me, I mean... They don't even want to win. Well, you just need so many young players to be more impactful or healthy, honestly, because they were so injured last season. Both sides of the ball. Yep. Definitely didn't miscount. I just went through them. We'll see. Find out. You definitely left out someone where I'm going to be a little bit surprised. but really who did i don't know i don't know okay all right well i mean there's nobody that should be surprised at the end of this so whoever i left out we're gonna have to squeeze them back in somewhere else because next up is the browns browns versus cardinals i'm gonna go cardinals
52:12um okay so maybe i maybe that was a little bit dramatic of me with the card also we're doing it in a vacuum right like i think part of the cardinals uh dismissal has to do with the fact that they're in the NFC West. But if you put the Cardinals in, I don't know, the NFC South instead of the NFC West, I don't think anyone would be predicting them to have as bad of a record as I'm sure they're projected for. The Browns... But I think if I understand the power hour, it doesn't have to be... It's not record projection. Yeah, it's not record. Exactly, that's what I'm saying. So I think some of the vibes around the Cardinals might be a little bit overinflated relative to who they actually are a team.
52:47Coaching staff, though, whatever. Anyways, the point is, I do think they are better than the Browns. Jacoby Brissett, is a better quarterback than Deshaun Watson and Shor Sanders. Hold up, man. They're gonna pay my man or what? They may not have to Kobe percent. Man, I got the coolest holdout in history of quarterback. I love this holdout. I'm not coming out there to be a shield for free. Y 'all had to pay me to take these hits. It is really funny. Good for him. It's the best holdout. It really is one of the funniest holdouts of all time. It's like, what are you gonna do? Play Carson Beck? go for it all right three more teams yeah i counted wrong or something because i got the jets who's the third team that you have left who am i i'm like forgetting someone all right it's fine um jets versus browns i'm gonna take the jets here so we just did them on the afc east oh no you counted it right the team yeah you haven't run the team of course the team that is always at the bottom uh the jets um
53:59are in a cursed position which is it is totally possible that geno smith is marginally better than he was last season and because of the talent around him. And if he is and saves Aaron Glenn's job, then they lose the number one draft pick. That sucks. I do think, I mean, we don't need to focus on that. I do think you do want competent quarterback play because you have so many young players on offense. It's really important to, you know, retain, like to develop Cooper Jr., Sadiq, Darrell Wilson, not play with, you know, abysmal quarterback play and whatnot, Brees Hall. So I'll take the Jets here.
54:40I do think the Jets secondary is a real problem, though. I think the Jets could be a lot better, but that doesn't, like, I can see the Jets being better than the Raiders, the Titans, and the Cardinals, and the Browns, where I put them at the bottom. But, I mean, who's really going to be mad? Yeah, this whole bottom seven or six is, it's been the same every time. It's just, you know. And the Dolphins. Okay, so we're at 31 and 32 are between the Dolphins and the Browns. Common choice.
55:12I am going to take... Okay, so the Browns defense is probably the best unit, both sides of the ball. But I think the Dolphins offense has the potential to be better than the Browns offense and a little more interesting despite the lack of players. I'm going to take the Browns over the Dolphins though purely because of the Browns defense. and how well I think they've drafted in recent years.
55:40Quarterback competition. Extremely cursed. Okay, I keep doing this, but I did it for the Cardinals. Let me do this for the Browns. If Malik Willis was the quarterback of the Browns instead of the Dolphins, where do you think the Browns would rank on this list for you? Like what tier and what range? I mean maybe I'm not as high on Malik Willis as everybody else it'd be they'd be significantly better but I don't know I still not great yeah I kind of feel like if the Malik Willis situation is still the story is not completely clear yeah well right but we're not gonna get a good answer yeah we're not gonna get a good answer but we got like four games of Malik Willis and very you and very advantageous situations, which lots of quarterbacks don't perform well in advantageous situations.
56:28I don't mean it's as a slight on Malik Willis, but also I'm not sure that I think Malik Willis is like a savior. Yeah. Yeah. Like a tie. I guess I pose that because I actually think the Browns situation could be fun and getting better. Like all the receivers, they added a love fan and junior. Same with the Jets, like the Jets are the situation that I think Same with the Cardinals, honestly, to an extent. These three teams have all set up Arch Manning perfectly. Exactly. All right, I'm going to read the final list. We just finished all 32. Other than the obvious Niners being the angriest, tell me which team you think.
57:06I think I know what it is, actually. Rams, Seahawks, Broncos, Bills, Texans, Jags, Patriots, Eagles, Chargers, Ravens, Cowboys, Bears, Packers, Lions, Bengals, Niners, Bucks, Chiefs, Vikings, Commanders, Panthers, Steelers, Colts, Falcons, Saints, Giants, Raiders, Titans, Cardinals, Jets, Browns, Dolphins. Which one is the fan base is going to be the angriest? I think I said other than the 49ers. You feel strongly here. Who do you think? I think the Bengals will say 15 is too low with that offense and the improvements they made on defense. That's fair. But you know what? I didn't put them there.
57:48Dominique did, guys. Go check out the Dominique Foxworth show wherever you get your pods. Lots of great content covering all sports. You've been doing footy. That's over. Just a little bit.
