In short
NFL trade deadline day and Week/“MNF” recap discussion, centered on how the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Baltimore Ravens are positioned for late-season runs. The show also includes “BS or no BS” segments about quarterbacks and playoff scenarios, plus interviews and player/strategy talk.
Guests (backgrounds)
- Bruce Arians (Coach BA): 47-year NFL coaching career; former NFL head coach (noted for Cardinals tenure and football philosophy).
- Adam Schefter (ESPN senior NFL insider): long-time NFL reporter/breaker of trade news; provides trade-market context.
- Darius Butler: nine-year NFL veteran defensive back; “best brains”/athletic background; talks as a father about his daughter’s high school golf.
- Cam Little: Jacksonville Jaguars kicker; holds the longest NFL field goal (68-yard) and discusses technique/leg speed.
Key claims
- Cardinals look like a real contender with Jacoby Brissett running the offense; BA says the Cowboys game was “more about the Cardinals.”
- Cowboys’ defense is struggling badly on third downs; Dallas has major issues despite making a trade.
- Trade deadline: Jaguars acquire WR Jacoby Myers to offset injuries to Travis Hunter (IR) and Brian Thomas Jr. (questionable).
- Ravens add edge Draymond Jones to upgrade pass rush; conditional pick depends on sacks and playoff qualification.
- “BS or no BS”: Arians says Kyler Murray will return when healthy (not Brissett long-term); also says all four NFC North teams can make playoffs; Broncos are best AFC West team.
Notable examples
- Cowboys trade for Bengals LB Logan Wilson.
- Ravens trade Titans edge Draymond Jones for a conditional fifth (can become a fourth if Jones gets 2+ sacks and Baltimore makes playoffs).
- Schefter notes Myers asked for a trade earlier; Jaguars offered a fourth and sixth.
- Cam Little explains leg speed + hitting the “sweet spot,” referencing Adam Vinatieri’s coaching style.

Football! It is the greatest sport on earth and we're incredibly lucky that on this glorious Tuesday, just like all the other Tuesdays of this season, we are joined by a man who has coached football for 47 years. Now he's our coach. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach BA. Good to see you, Coach. You look fantastic today. I want to let you know everything is vibing. Everything is going fantastically. Very unlike the Dallas Cowboys. Nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler is here.
0:41Pat McAfee:Yes, sir. Now, toxic table at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt. Just like I said earlier when he came in, this is Darius Butler. Darius Butler is a nine-year NFL vet. One of the best brains in the history of football. So incredibly athletic, and we haven't seen him in a while. You know why? Why's that? Great dad. Like, great dad. Has been since the day that I met him. Most off-seasons and summers were spent me following along with his socials, with his kids, traveling around, driving around. And now they're at the age of playing competitive sports, I do believe. And his daughter, Milan, is competing on the high school golf team.
1:16Pat McAfee:And last week you were at a tournament. Yesterday you were at a tournament. How's it going? She's a freshman. And it sounds like she has picked up the Darius Butler incredible athletic genes.
1:26Adam Schefter:Yeah, she's a dog. She's a worker. She's a grinder. And I didn't expect her out of any of the kids to be the golfer because she hates being outside. She hates bugs. She hates sweating. But she picked up the game, and she's been grinding a little more in a year. And she went as a freshman, and we know how it is going and getting on like a high school team and actually competing, especially something that you haven't been doing a long time. So freshman, competing on a varsity team. And then last week was districts, and then this was the regional. And this is where, you know, the run ended for her freshman season.
1:56Adam Schefter:but she played her best golf against her best competition. So, you know, as a dad, that makes you proud to see you out there. Especially with golf because it's such a game where it's like very much like a kicker or a snapper. Hey, it's your turn. Everybody's watching you. All lives on you. And I can't understand even how rattling that could be, especially for like a high school young girl and all those things. So to see her battle and go out there and grind and her team, a couple of teammates will probably advance the States. But it was awesome to be there, to see it, you know, to break all the rules because as parents, You're not supposed to be able to talk.
2:27Adam Schefter:You're not supposed to be able to help. And I'm like, hey, you know, I can't give away my techniques on how I get my communication. You're sending signals? But we got some communication down. So when I'm there, her mom is afraid to break the rules. So it's a little different when I'm there. But it was awesome to be able to watch. And I absolutely miss being here as well.
2:44Pat McAfee:Now, listen, Florida High School Sports, I know what they did to Teddy Bridgewater. Maybe you need to dump everything you said. Good point. D-Bud is not sending any signals to his daughter while she is golfing as a freshman in the tournaments. But I would like to let you know, we're incredibly pumped for your entire family. I assume it was very emotional over there. We saw the clip of her almost chipping in. That is awesome. I mean, that is absolutely incredible. Good luck. We think sports are a necessity for the development of humans. So the fact that your daughter is obviously getting a chance to compete and she's playing her best at the highest level against her best opponents, dog, excited.
3:17Pat McAfee:And now she takes that into the offseason. Oh, yeah. And we only get better and better. Coach B.A., it feels like coaches always say they view their team as like their kids and stuff like that. And you have to kind of act as a father figure for a lot of people in a lot of different situations. Whenever you start seeing guys and their kids start to have success, I couldn't even imagine with guys that have played in the league and then their kids are in the league as well and you're in there. You're a massive piece of that entire process and the entire kind of grand scheme of things. Yeah, I never set up myself as a father figure.
3:45I was that cool uncle you want to have a drink with. Okay.
3:49Pat McAfee:Everybody's got that uncle, you know. Yes, they definitely do. But yeah, on the drive range Saturday, Ben Roethlisberger's down there with his son, Benjamin. Oh, yes. That little joker got me good. We gave him a stroke a hole, and he shot 77. Who, that kid? Benjamin, yeah. He's won a couple tournaments already. Okay, buddy, I'm getting you next time. I think he's doing the drive chip and putt, too. That's the younger one. Yeah, like winning the drive. I think Roethlisberger's kids are about to be real sticks. Because I guess he is too, right? He's legit. Yeah, he's legit. Yeah, he's also great at talking about ball.
4:23Pat McAfee:I'm happy as hell that Ben Roethlisberger is doing a footballing podcast. Let's talk a little bit about football. Cardinals, very good last night. Cowboys ass. Cowboys immediately make a trade. Jerry Jones is saying, I'm sitting on one in my back pocket. I got one if I want to make it, if I want to. Now, would I rather make a trade for the Dallas Cowboys or hit that honey hole three miles down where I can get that$100 billion worth of natural gas? Give me B any time of the day. But since I can get Logan Wilson here, linebacker from the Cincinnati Bengals to the Dallas Cowboys, let's go ahead and make that move.
4:53Pat McAfee:They do that immediately after the loss. And, you know, a lot of people are saying, Troy Aikman included, they're going to need to do a lot more than just get one player to make this team good. I think there's a lot of question marks on how the hell the Dallas Cowboys are going to kind of react and how they're going to go forward. We all agree that Dak Prescott's a good player. I think everybody kind of says that. But that team's seemingly never really going to get going. Now, and on the flip side, just a few years back, I was calling for Jacoby Brissett to be MVP quarterback, MVP of the entire league here at Indianapolis.
5:20Pat McAfee:Since his early days, whenever he was a third-string quarterback for the New England Patriots, he's always been able to get on the field and spin it. He's always been able to lead. He seemingly always knows what he's supposed to do in every single offensive system that he's ever been in. Whenever he was with the Colts, he was backing up Andrew Luck at one point. He was the one, like, running the meetings. He is like the guy. Bill Parcells, I think, Big Tuna, kind of influenced him throughout high school and everything like that. Marvin Harrison Jr. has a massive day. McBride, their weapon at tight end, is scoring a lot of touchdowns now that Jacoby Brissett's the quarterback, as opposed to when Kyler's the quarterback.
5:52Pat McAfee:There's a lot of those stats coming. And Gannon's culture seemingly settling in. They lose three games by, like, what, two points or something like that. So their record isn't great. Still got nine games left, obviously, in this season. A lot can happen in that. But this Cardinals team might be real. Hey, don't look now. The Arizona Cardinals might not be asked. They might actually be a very good football team, especially Jacoby, a quarterback.
6:14Adam Schefter:Absolutely. And Dan O said it when he was on the show, like, you know, they're better than their record and their 2-5 record coming into this game. And we all know in the league, we always say, hey, look, you are what your record is. So these games, a lot of times they come down to one drive, whether offensively or defensively. But Jacoby Brissett, he can run the ship. He is a starting quarterback in this league. The offense just looks better with him under underhelm. He's fighting along. The defense, they can play well. Will Johnson, I thought he made some big-time plays. He's been a good rookie.
6:43Adam Schefter:I thought he could have got drafted higher coming out of Michigan. Then Simons, the Ohio State Buckeye, had that a good ripout at the end of the game. But their physical team, Gannon's culture is coming along. You see how he dealt with the off-the-field thing with the running back. I think he took ownership. This team is going the right way. That's a tough division. It's a tough division. a very, very, very good division, so we'll see how far they can go this season. But they have weapons on the outside. Marvin Harrison Jr. came along. McBride is one of the best tight ends in the National Football League.
7:12Adam Schefter:So, yeah, they can roll.
7:12Pat McAfee:Yeah, they can definitely roll. And speaking of that, here's some Hembo stats. Least time trailing this season. Seahawks, by an hour or so. You know, the Cardinals, hour 30. So, Packers, hour 50. Rams, hour 56. And look at the records versus the Cardinals. That's why everybody was so kind of excited to see if they could put it together. Jacoby is their quarterback. They certainly look like they're a real team. And then on the other side, Cowboys, are they ever going to be able to get it right? B.A., what's your takeaway from last night? Is it more about the Cardinals or more about the Cowboys in your eyes?
7:43I thought it was more about the Cardinals. They've been so close. And I talked to some people out there last week. We did an interview. I said, just make a damn play. All they need is one guy. They lost, what, three games on a field goal in the last play of the game in their division, which is maybe one of the toughest divisions. And I think with Jacoby Persett, he's calmed them down. And their defense is playing lights out. Yeah, I think the Cardinals can really make a move.
8:07Pat McAfee:Yeah, why not, the Cardinals? And congrats to Bidwell. Yeah, unbelievable. Just a couple years ago, and I mean, even your record now, so I don't even want to act like life is great right now. It certainly can't be. But just a couple years back, they were getting F minus, F minus, F minus, F minus, F minus, F on everything in the building. Okay? Team was still able to win. somehow and still able to be good whenever ba was there and a couple different eras but then they were just like ah we pay a quarterback we put a clause in there they can't play video games certain amount it's like okay whoa what's going on here and then you know they're in a division that's very good and then they would win some games and then inevitably lose a lot more games and it's like it felt like they were potentially going to be in just a spin cycle we got a bs or no bs with ba later that's going to maybe answer that question like what does he think ownership and what does he think the Cardinals are going to do going forward?
8:55Pat McAfee:Because the stats are getting lied. Yeah. Okay, stats are getting lied. Look at them both, losing records. Uh-oh. Losing records, both of them got it. But points per game, 25.7 versus 18.8. That's a touchdown, brother. A full touchdown. That's a full touchdown in yards per game. Go ahead and put that math together, too. That's about 70. That's almost full football field. So if it's a touchback, you're scoring a touchdown there. That's another touchdown right there in yards per game. So Jacoby Brissett has certainly looked good with the Arizona Cardinals. they have a losing record who knows what they are going forward what we do know is today it's trade deadline day that's right whoa 4 p.m today teams have an opportunity to say we are a good team we want to be a great team let's go get the one missing piece most recently jacoby myers traded from the raiders to the jacksonville jaguars congrats to the jacksonville jaguars making moves here at the trade deadline to try to make their team even better that has to feel good if you are a jacksonville jaguars fan jacoby myers uh coming from the raiders Brian Thomas Jr., number one wide receiver, dealing with a little bit of an injury.
9:55Pat McAfee:Travis Hunter, obviously another wide receiver for their team currently on IR. So Jacksonville Jaguars were a little bit light in the wide receiver department. They try to make a play. Adam Schefter broke that news. I believe he'll be joining us here. Ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL insider at ESPN, Adam Schefter. Schefter! Schefter, thank you for joining us. This is kind of going to be the thing today. We will just cold FaceTime you as the trades come through your Twitter account. Tell us about the Jacoby Myers trade and how did everybody know Jacoby was on the market?
10:25Darius Butler:Well, he had asked for a trade earlier in the season, Pat, and the Raiders knew that he was on an expiring contract set to expire after this year. So when Jacksonville stepped up and offered a fourth and sixth round pick, It makes sense for a Raiders team that's going to want draft capital to go out and move him for that particular return. Jacksonville headed today with 13 draft picks. Even after this move and trading their one to Cleveland last April, they still have 11 draft picks in the 2026 NFL draft. And so Jacksonville wanted to show up the wide receiver position. We've got Travis Hunter on IR with the knee injury.
11:06Darius Butler:he's out definitely at least three more weeks, quite possibly longer. And then you also have Brian Thomas, their wide receiver. He's over a low-grade, high-angle screen on Sunday. Now he thinks he might be able to play this week, but you don't know. And they want to do everything they can.
11:22Pat McAfee:Hey, you're covering the speaker. You're covering the speaker, I think. You're covering the speaker. I'm trying to figure out what's best, the speaker or the average. We'd like to be able to hear you. You're covering the speaker, I think, again right now. you got to leave the speaker open so we can hear the voice go into it you were kind of cutting into it you're talking about the injuries around jacksonville there whenever you you kind of cut apart kobe myers good good fill-in for them for that particular department and jacoby myers you said ask for a trade were there more people interested more teams interested and uh how indicative is that of the rest of the day for some of the teams that maybe didn't get jacoby myers well the one team that that also called on him i said how do i get myself in the picture here we
12:03Darius Butler:The one team that called on it was Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh expressed some interest in Jacoby Myers, but obviously Jacksonville really stepped up to get something done here. Those are the two teams, I think, that really wanted to add Myers to their roster. I know Buffalo's been mentioned, but Buffalo did not check in on Jacoby Myers, to my understanding. They were interested in other players. Jacksonville, like I said, Travis Hunter out with an injury. Brian Thomas Jr. has a low-grade, high-angle screen. He thinks he can play Sunday, so we'll see how that works out for them. But they want to give Trevor Lawrence as many weapons as possible.
12:40Darius Butler:Put this team in position to make the playoffs, so they had Jacoby Myers today.
12:44Pat McAfee:You're the man. We appreciate you. We'll follow along with your Twitter account as trade deadline looms three hours and 48 minutes from now. Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Schefter. It's about to be 47, I guess. That was a really good hit by Adam Schefter. One of the best. But that's what trade deadline day is. We have no idea what's going to happen. I assume there's some things that are about to come out of left field, even for Adam Schefter, because any trade is possible. Yesterday we put this graphic up about the potential trade candidates. Jacoby Myers is on there and the possible buyers. We had Jacksonville Jaguars on there.
13:15Pat McAfee:So, I mean, if you put more than half the league on there and you were going to hit, we did. So I'm pretty proud about that. Way to go, D-Bone. D-Bone piecing some things together. Any trade being possible is fascinating. B.A., whenever you're a coach and you know your team's close and you see your team make a play and trade for a player, how do you go about handling introducing guys to a team? For instance, Christian McCaffrey was traded from the Panthers to the 49ers at the trade deadline, middle of the season. 49ers, pretty good team. Okay, pretty good team. Christian McCaffrey gets there. Kyle Shanahan comes out very openly and says, hey, this is Christian McCaffrey's team.
13:49Pat McAfee:We're going to give him the ball in the backfield. We're going to throw it to him. We're going to let him throw the ball. They do that immediately. If you get one of these weapons, what is it like for a coach trying to make sure that person feels comfortable while also not maybe ruffling any feathers with the locker room that you currently have. Yeah, and most of the time it's because of injuries. And you've got a good football team. You've got a chance maybe to get into the dance. So one guy can make the difference. And he really don't have to say much. The guys are excited. Hey, they're pumped.
14:15We made a move. Coach believes in us. We think we can win this thing. One missing piece. Embrace this guy. Let's get him going in our system right away. Let him fill our culture right away. And let's roll.
14:25Pat McAfee:Did you guys make any big trades? I mean, obviously, the Pittsburgh Steelers weren't really known for doing that during the trade deadline whenever you were there. Colts, we traded – were you here for the Trent Richardson trade? No. That was – Trent Richardson, good guy. Trent Richardson was nice to me. Jim Irsay was tweeting, okay, rest in peace. Love Jim. Okay, Jim's right here. I miss you, Jim. We do. Daughters are kicking a lot of ass. Hell yeah. Yes, indeed. The big three are kicking ass right now, obviously. So there's none of that. But we do. Jim was tweeting leading up to that trade about like earth shattering trade coming.
15:02Pat McAfee:And we're like, holy hell, got a pretty good team here. I'm excited to see what we do. Going to change football. He's tweeting. He's hyping this up. And this never really happened with the Colts. And then all of a sudden it's Trent Richardson for a first round. We give up a first round pick for Trent Richardson. I think Boom Heron was our running back at the time. He was doing Boom. Boom was after the crowd was starting to say Boom. He was starting to like catch on a gimmick. Like, Boone was actually becoming, like, a guy. And then all of a sudden we traded for Trent Richardson. Everybody was like, okay, all right, we're going to get Trent Richardson.
15:32Pat McAfee:Okay, okay, this is going to be a thing. And then it felt like the coaches felt obligated to, like, force feed him, if that makes sense. It was almost like, okay, he's worth the number one. I think we had Ahmad Bradshaw, too, I think.
15:43Adam Schefter:No, Bradshaw came after we met Vic Ballard. Yes. I don't know if he had started his run yet, but he was drafted in that same luck draft class. But, yeah, Trent Richardson was, what, the third pick in that same draft?
15:54Pat McAfee:Yeah.
15:55Adam Schefter:It was a big – here's the tweet.
15:57Pat McAfee:Bruce found it from Jim Irsay. Serious trade wins swirling. We're talking giving up high pick for serious vet slash starter. These deals often crumble and don't reach completion. He had like four of them. He was like really talking about how big it was coming. So we were kind of excited. Like we were pretty – I was very excited. I'm like, who's – this is incredible. I can't wait to see who my new teammate is. And then Trent Richardson comes in. He was like, Trent was cool. Trent was nice. I don't know if he felt as comfortable with coming into our locker room as maybe other places. I think, you know, it was like an interesting time.
16:34Darius Butler:He told a story about that, actually. Trent Richardson did about how that's kind of like when he lost his love for football was when he was traded from Cleveland to Indy because he just always assumed, like, I'm always going to be a Cleveland Brown. I was a top five pick. Like, this is my home, just like Alabama. And he said that's when he realized, you know, the NFL is a business versus what he was used to.
16:53Pat McAfee:You can get a bit jaded whenever a team says we don't want you anymore. But you would hope that the spin is like, well, this team loves you so much until you come there. And I don't know how those conversations went or whatever, but obviously with Jim Irsay tweeting about it, it was going to be big. But, yeah, you could sense that that kind of was. And, you know, once again, Trent was always cool to me. I felt like we had a good relationship, but it went how it went here. And we had a good team. Like we had a good team in how we were rolling there. but I remember thinking to myself, it would be so sweet if we did get a game wrecker.

17:26Pat McAfee:Like Randy Moss gets traded in the middle of the season. Everybody in New England, we got Randy Moss. That type of move could happen today for an entire team, an entire building, an entire fan base. The Titans traded edge rusher Draymond Jones to the Ravens for a conditional fifth-round pick per sources. Now, congratulations to the Ravens making a play. Coach B.A., what are your thoughts on edge rusher Draymond Jones going from the Titans who, you know, we all kind of see it. We all kind of see what's happening with them this year, although we believe Cam Ward's a guy. They've already fired their coach.
17:59Pat McAfee:They're in the middle of a transition era. And then the Baltimore Ravens are trying to go on a run here late. What do you think the addition of Draymond does for the Baltimore Ravens? I think it's huge because their pass rusher has been inept at best, and this guy can rush the passer. And he's going to be able to use Kyle Vanuay different ways. He's such a multiple. He can play so many multiple spots. And you get him on the edge, maybe Kyle rushing on the weakest link in the offensive line. I think they'll do a hell of a job with him, and he's going to be a big upgrade for them. Here's the Ravens edge rusher stats from Hembo here this season for the ends and outside linebackers.
18:36Pat McAfee:39 pressures, that's the fewest. Six sacks, that's 28th out of 32. 19 quarterback hits, that's 27. Everybody's talking about how that defense is. Well, whenever you can't get to the quarterback and whenever you can't apply any pressure at all, it's going to be hard to do anything else. You know, you look at the defenses that are good, they're front four, very good. The teams that aren't good on defense, normally front four, not that good. You usually have to steal or rob Peter to pay Paul. Whenever your front four aren't great, you've got to take somebody from somewhere else and kind of shore that up before anything else.
19:03Pat McAfee:Whenever you take somebody from somewhere else, guess what's missing now? Something from somewhere else. So whenever you talk about the best defenses, getting your trenches figured out is the most important part of it all.
19:12Darius Butler:Yeah, and it feels like you can't have too many pass rushers or offensive linemen. No matter what, when it comes to playoffs, there's always a team that's there that is banged up on O-line or pass rusher, and it seems to be the Achilles heel for a lot of playoff teams once they get there. They traded one of their guys, Owe Adafi, Baltimore did, to the Chargers, so it kind of feels like a replacement there. But, I mean, this is one of those dudes who, as a Patriots fan who played Tennessee, he was one of their standout players for sure.
19:42Pat McAfee:He has a sick necklace, too. I like the moxie and the swag. We'll fit in that Baltimore locker room, I do believe. D-Buck, your thoughts?
19:47Adam Schefter:I'm right there with you. It always starts with up front. You saw yesterday when the Eagles traded for Jalen Phillips. Like, when they went on that run and getting Brandon Graham back, that'll help too. But when they went on that run, it started with those guys up front. Whenever you can rush forward and create havoc in that backfield in the run game and in the pass game, it helps the DBs out tremendously. So that's always a big boost.
20:07Pat McAfee:He said conditional fifth rounder. We're getting more details. Albert Breer says, the condition on the Ravens-Titans trade, If Draymond Jones has at least two sacks over the rest of the regular season and Baltimore makes the playoffs, Tennessee gets a fourth-round pick rather than a fifth-round pick. These are all part of negotiations. Well, what if he's really good for you guys? You guys turn around. You guys are on a 500-minute. We'll turn into a fourth-rounder. Deal. Let's go ahead and make that happen. Now, if they're ass and they don't make the playoffs, obviously the Baltimore Ravens have an easier deal than the Tennessee Titans.
20:39Pat McAfee:Now, are the Ravens going to be able to go on a run? That is the question. Are the Cardinals going to be able to go on a run? That is the question. And are the Dallas Cowboys dead? Dallas Cowboys bring in Mr. Wilson at linebacker. Who is their linebacking core currently there for Dallas?
20:53Adam Schefter:Kenneth Murray has been their middle linebacker. Came over from the Chargers, former Oklahoma Sooner. He's a sideline-to-sideline guy. Can be a little light in the ass at times. You know, he can struggle downhill. Overshown, I think his window opened up for him to get back healthy and get back in the lineup for them as well. But Logan Wilson, he's a good player. Now, he fell out of good grace in Cincinnati. We don't know what really went on behind closed doors. Maybe he wanted some younger players, maybe some different players in the system. But he was the guy for Lou Anaromo's defense for that run, the AFC Championship run.
21:25Adam Schefter:And over the last five and a half years, he leads all middle linebackers with, you see it right here on this Shefty tweet with 11 interceptions. So he can get his hands on the ball, make plays. Smart guy, can get guys lined up. I'm sure he won't have a problem picking up this defense. Obviously, he won't fix everything in Dallas. unless it'll be a group effort. But, yeah, he's a good player to add to your core.
21:45Pat McAfee:Are they dead, Donner? You know, Jerry's coming out and saying, hey, you can call me Jerry Kardashian. You know, because I'm not scared to just make sure we're the topic of conversation. Now, does that necessarily mean we can't win games? No, I'm not saying that. But I'm going to make sure we are certainly in the middle of controversy if needs be. You're going to be talking about my team. Now the entire conversation following that, it's like Jerry's telling the truth now. Jerry's at the stage of life where he's just going to go ahead and let me go ahead and give you guys my actual feelings and my actual thoughts.
22:17Pat McAfee:Did the documentary on the red carpet of the documentary. He said, I'll stir some shit up. Don't you worry about that. Now he follows up even more with Stephen A. yesterday saying, you know, I'm always at it. We're always a topic of conversation. Even if we're not, guess what? We're about to be because it's something I'm about to do. That's the business that you're in, Mr. Stephen A. That's also the business that I'm in, Mr. Stephen A. is that conducive to winning NFL games where everybody says it's already hard enough. You know, they talk about distractions. Players get labeled a distraction.
22:44Pat McAfee:Players get labeled a distraction. This person, distraction. Don't let them in your locker room. Get them out of the league. What he brings is too much. Jerry Jones is actually coming out saying, I am a distraction. A very, very, very, very, very expensive distraction at all times. Is it a bad thing that Jerry thinks this way? Or do you think it's okay as long as the football side of it is kind of separated from the state, if that makes sense. Yeah, I think everybody in Dallas is used to it. You know, that show's been on for a long time. And they're used to the drama and everything. Yeah, as long as they're talking about us, good or bad, as long as they're talking about us, we're good.
23:19Pat McAfee:Is that good for football? I think so, but it's not necessarily good for their football team. Logan Wilson, two years ago, Logan Wilson, hell of a trade. This Logan Wilson, I'm not sure he even helps. Well, Jerry's the GM, so you think Jerry maybe has lost his fastball here as the general manager, speaking so openly about being a distraction to his own team that I guess he owns as well. Owner Jerry might be getting in the way of managing Jerry by the shit that the owner wants to. You know, because I think GMs and coaches might have disagreements with the owners. Miss Blackburn over there in Cincinnati said, these players just got to take the deals.
23:57Pat McAfee:Be happy. word up, okay? So then the GM, Duke Togelman, is probably like, why are we? That is not the right thing to say. There's always disagreements, I think, between GMs and owners because of something. That's just the most recent one that pops in my mind. Right now, I wonder if GM Jerry ever sits down and goes, God, this owner, Jerry. He cannot help us. He cannot help us. He's in the way all the time. And I think Dallas Cowboys fans are saying the same thing. And I think my favorite part of it all, this entire evolution of how people view Jerry Jones as the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys.
24:29Pat McAfee:I think we all agree that he's not doing that. We know that that's just a fictitious title. Is that what we're saying? I think he has owner say and stuff. But he's not doing day-to-day GM stuff. Steven Jones is doing the phone calls every single day. I assume his family's taking... He was standing on a honey hole three miles underneath his Cowboy boots that he was wearing. Talking to Wall Street. You think I care about the Dallas defense? I'm standing above$100 billion. I need to get my pipes three miles deep here because nobody else's pipes can get that deep. I'm spending$1 billion on this rig that will turn into a mammal that will cough this natural gas out at$100 billion rate.
25:10Pat McAfee:So it's like I think he's got other people doing the day-to-day shit. And then owner Jerry comes in and says, I'm not paying Micah. Me and Micah already have a deal. Now, the GM, especially with a deal with Micah, would have to consult with the owner anyways. So I think he's having the same say that most owners have, where if they don't want something to happen, it's not going to happen. If they want something to happen, it's going to happen. But I think the day-to-day shit's moved on from him, in my eyes, just from outside looking in.
25:34Darius Butler:Well, and if you just look at it, like based on all the stuff you just said, and then, you know, whether it's right or not or true, I guess, you read the tea leaves and they're talking about like, well, Dallas is interested in Bradley Chubb. Like there are all these people around the league, all these players that they're allegedly calling about and trying to help sure up the defense. So, like, if that is true, then, like, Jerry, if he is the acting GM, like, he would have to be in his office on phone calls. Exactly, all the time. And I think you talk about the Parsons stuff. I think that might have been, like, the breaking point.
26:05Darius Butler:Like, it melted something in his brain because he just, like, this guy was supposed to wear the star his entire career. We had a handshake deal. He was going to be, you know, the captain of our defense moving on. Because, like, even now, I mean, how far removed from that are we? And he's talking with Stephen A, and it's just, like, it still comes back. I think we have the clip of what he said about it. One time, not even in the hottest of days in two days in August in Texas, between 11 in the morning or when they quit practicing or four in the afternoon, it's hot. Did I never see any one of these two go over and lay on a damn training table in front of a million people.
26:52This is not fair. Micah's not here. I want to tell you something. I really think a lot of Michael Parsons, and it wasn't a question of wanting him on the team, but to anoint him in terms of that and everybody else looking at him,
27:08Pat McAfee:you better have some thinking. Is he going to be a made man for the Dallas Cowboys? I see this guy laying over the training table. What the hell is he from? Stand up down there. I ain't never seen these men made cowboys. Okay, you think of the cowboys, who do you think? Fucking Michael Irvin. Okay, you think he's laying over a training table? Yeah, right, he's on all fours on the side. He's not even playing. That is who he is. You think about Emmitt Smith. You think Emmitt Smith is ever laying down with a million people with their eyes on a star? They're watching our brand. And we got our guy laid out over a table.
27:44Pat McAfee:He ain't going to be a made cowboy, never in my mind. And so maybe it was made up throughout certain different decisions or certain different happenings. Or maybe Jerry found all these things looking back once he felt disrespected by my. Yeah, this guy. I knew he wasn't a good guy. What did he do? And then his kid goes, remember he laid a training table. I do remember that. That was it. What did he do? He also didn't throw his shit away. Yep. Left his towel in the back. Yep. I remember. So Jerry, I think, was collecting info to justify, I'm right about this, right? And then maybe now he feels even more vindicated.
28:17Pat McAfee:But to your note about maybe it broke him, maybe it just kind of exposed him. Yeah. Maybe it just kind of exposed who he is at this stage of everything.
28:27Adam Schefter:It's on the players for me because we talk to Big Mike. We spent that time with him in the draft, and we asked him about how was it in Dallas and how was it dealing with Jerry. Because everybody kind of wants to know that. He's like, it's not really a problem because when you're in that line, when you're in the locker room, when you're on the field, We watched the game last night. Dallas had plenty opportunities. Even late in the game, they had an opportunity to make a run down there. Javante Williams fumbles the ball. We had Ferguson fumble the ball. Pickens with a penalty that may be insignificant, but in that moment where everything counts, the Aubrey, you had all these different opportunities from the team, from the guys on the team, whether it was players.
29:03Adam Schefter:I wouldn't even put it on the coaches. I think the coaches put them in good position. Deron Bland, he got paid a bunch of money, which he earned. He had a terrible game last night. So, yeah, we can sit here and say it's the Jerry shit, but when you – he has drafted well. Whoever's running the show, if it's Steven, if it's Jerry, he has drafted well. The decision to pay who you pay, trade Michael Parsons, that's a big decision. We'll see how that plays out. One of the best pass rushers in the league in his prime. We'll see how he pays out. But, I mean, those players had plenty of opportunity kind of all season long.
29:32Adam Schefter:And last game, the defense has been shitty all year long, but the offense, I feel like they could have put up 34 and outscored that team if they needed to. So, yeah, I'm putting it. I know Jerry can be your talking point, but I'm still putting it on the players out there.
29:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, I agree. It might be hard to focus, though. You know, Miami Dolphins have a lot of things to battle when it comes to focus and attention on stuff. Dallas has a lot of distractions to go with. You got to get the right guys in there, I think. Yeah, sure. The Dallas Cowboys currently have the right guys. We shall see. Here's a stat, though, about their defense. Arizona won 7 of 13 on third down last night. Cowboys opponents are 61 of 116 on third down. this season. That is the worst rate, 53 % by any defense in the last 40 years. So that's money, Don, is what they call it. And guess what? They're broke.
30:19Pat McAfee:There ain't no money down there in Dallas except for in that honey hole that's three miles deep that Jerry Jones is trying to get access to.
30:26Darius Butler:Yeah, there was another stat that came out that said if you take all of the starting quarterbacks they've played this year so far, I believe they've thrown 22 touchdowns, four interceptions. Their passer rating is ridiculous. Yeah, here we go. 112.3 second highest in the NFL so essentially like the opposing quarterback is putting up like an MVP performance against their defense week in week out
30:49Pat McAfee:Jacoby, Bo Nix, Jaden Daniels, Marcus Mariota Bryce Young, Justin Fields, Jordan Love Caleb Williams, Russell Wilson Jalen Hurts, names not seen on there Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes Lamar Jackson Danny Dimes this year Aaron Rutt, you name it there isn't really any of the Not a murderer's row. It's not there yet. Yeah, not all these guys potentially Hall of Famers. Without a doubt. Okay, let's not even dive into it. Coach, whenever – okay, let's go – I guess let's go to – ladies and gentlemen, it's perfect time for one of our favorite segments that we've ever had. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for BS or no BS with B.A.
31:27Pat McAfee:Yeah, B.A. We talk about these quarterbacks. We talk about these quarterbacks. Let's talk about two quarterbacks in Arizona. You know, there's some people saying out there, Jacoby Brissett will be the Cardinals starting quarterback over Kyler Murray for the rest of the season. Is that BS if he's healthy? Is that BS or no BS, B-A? Oh, that's BS. Oh, what? Too many dollars involved in this one. And the ownership, they've had Kyler for seven years. They gave him a big, big bet of money. He's coming back. As soon as he's healthy, he's going to be back in there. There's no doubt. Jacoby is carrying him.
32:03They're playing better with him, but they will not make that move.
32:06Pat McAfee:Okay, so you think this will be a contractually obligated move to put Kyler back on the field, and Gannon ain't going to have enough joosh to go in there and say, no, this is what I want to do for the good of the team. Totally. This is going to be a top decision. Put him back in. Now, if he fails, when we put him back in and he fails, maybe we'll go back to Jacoby. But Kyler's starting when he's healthy, I promise you. Well, maybe Kyler's gotten better from watching Jacoby. here debuts but i think a lot of people are saying uh this feels like gannon and the boys are riding with jacoby and ba's like well it doesn't matter yeah because there's a check that's heading to the other guy that is going to certainly be want to be seen on the field
32:47Adam Schefter:that's a tough decision yeah and it certainly makes sense some of those uh decisions are kind of out of our pay grade in the locker room but being in that locker room you see how the offense is rolling how it's moving with jacoby under center running the show uh i'm sure offensive players for sure but even the whole team defensive players special teams it's just different yes it's their first win uh with him under the helm but yeah it'll be a big decision as far as keeping that locker room together but with all that money just like the conversation with brock purdy and mac jones mac jones been playing well spending it but when you got all that guaranteed money to brock purdy you assume when he comes back and he's fully healthy he'll take over but i mean we'll
33:24Pat McAfee:see because it looked damn good yes he did and it's also like um and i don't want to compare it to our situation because it is vastly different. Kyler's been paid a significant amount of money. But it's like Anthony Richardson had so much upside, still has so much upside. Excited to see how it all goes, wherever it goes. Hopefully for us, he ends up being a starting quarterback somewhere else and Danny Dimes, our quarterback, for 10 years and everything we're doing right now happens until I'm 48 years old. That is what the goal is here. But it's like the entire offense is much more comfortable whenever they know that the quarterback understands the entire offense.
33:59Pat McAfee:So like whenever the guy who is kind of making the decisions and setting everybody up and ultimately making, you know, the play to work or not work, when that person has an understanding of everything, I feel like everybody buys in a lot more. Like Danny Dimes just knowing exactly what every play is supposed to be and putting everybody in the right position, I think that inspired and motivated Jonathan Taylor. I think Jonathan Taylor knew he was coming into a season where he was going to be put in the best position basically every single play. I think the offensive line was inspired coming into the season that they know that the guy behind them is going to be on the same page as them and also put them in the best position possible.
34:37Pat McAfee:And then the wide receivers, I think they came into the year knowing, hey, if I'm open, this guy's going to give me the ball and he's not going to miss me by 15, 16 yards. I think just whenever you have somebody that can execute the offense, kind of make sure everything is right for the offense, I think it's more so than just on the field. I think off the field, it motivates, to your point. The staff, too. Yeah, even the coaches, I guess, that's a lot better for you guys whenever the quarterback is like a coach on the field as opposed to somebody that maybe isn't there yet in a full understanding of what's supposed to happen every play.
35:07Yeah, I think that might have been Kyler four years ago. But, I mean, he took them to those close games. They didn't finish.
35:14Adam Schefter:Yeah. They didn't finish. You've got to finish in this league. And like I always say, the last two minutes of the half, last two minutes of the game, 76 % of the games were decided then. All right?
35:24Pat McAfee:It sounds like you're not giving up on Kyler either. Sounds like you think ownership's going to go in, but you haven't given up. Sounds like a lot of other people have given up on Kyler. I have not paid close enough attention to Arizona, but it feels like the conversation going into last night's game was very much like Arizona's kind of done with the whole is Kyler a guy or not a guy conversation. You're saying that conversation is not over, brother, because you spell conversation there with a dollar sign on that S right in the middle. And that's the most important part. Two dollar signs. Conversation is happening.
35:56Pat McAfee:Okay, let's go to the next BS or no BS, B.A.
35:58Darius Butler:Yeah, B.A., there's a lot of good divisions. But for the first time in NFL history, all four teams in the NFC North will make the playoffs. Is that BS or no BS, B.A.? I think that's no BS. Whoa!
36:12Pat McAfee:History will be made. I think Chicago's playing extremely well. Their schedule sets up. Minnesota's the team. Now, J.J.'s back. They had a big win over Detroit. right? It's going to come down when you look at the tiebreakers from the West and the North. And right now the Rams are in second place, but they lose every tiebreaker because they've lost so many conference games. And so this, this is going to be really fun all the way to the end. The Rams have a hell of a schedule left and it's tough. So I, I think there's a great chance that all the teams in the North make it. How do you feel about that tie?
36:45Pat McAfee:It'll be the first time ever. And I would say, you know, he's NFC North. He's saying your father's father's NFC North anymore. This is a powerhouse. The North is coming. Could you imagine Wild Card Weekend with that many NFC North squads out there battling?
36:58Darius Butler:Yeah, I mean, if you're a team in the NFC North, I don't love the idea of having to play a divisional game in the first round of the playoffs. That just, you know, a team that knows what you want to do. And, I mean, who knows? But we'll see. I mean, there's a chance to. You guys have talked about it. I think this year especially has really illuminated the fact that if you have a good team and you make a big stride year over year and you did finish last in your division the previous year, that schedule does set up for you very well. You look at who the Lions and the Packers have to play in these non-division or non-conference games compared to who the Bears and the Vikings have to play.
37:38Darius Butler:I guess not the Vikings. They were in second place last year, but the Bears especially. They are much better than they were last year, and they have that light schedule where if they can keep going, And, like, they might win, you know, 11, 12 games.
37:49Pat McAfee:So you're saying they're better than last year? So you're saying they're good, better, and then there's a chance best?
37:54Darius Butler:I don't want to see the best, but they are definitely better than they were last year. Leaps and bounds better.
37:59Pat McAfee:Well, they're never going to let it rest. I know. Until good is better.
38:02Darius Butler:Yeah.
38:03Pat McAfee:And the better is best. And there's a chance they're on that way, brother. I know. Caleb and BJ, Ben Johnson, really getting things going up there. Let's go to the last BS or no BS with BA here. Go ahead, D-Bull.
38:14Adam Schefter:Oh, this is a nice one. Nice and concise. All right. I don't care if the Chiefs are in the middle of the dynasty. I don't care if Jim Harbaugh is the head coach of the Chargers. I don't care if Tom Brady owns the Raiders. The Broncos are the best team in the AFC West. Is that BS or no BS, BS? That is total no BS, baby. Oh! What? It took me a while, but I'm a Bo Nix fan now. But this defense is legit. You win championships with defense and a really solid quarterback. the running game with J.K. Dobbins, Cortland Sutton, Bo Nix, Bo Nix with his legs, getting 40, 50 yards a game. I really like where the Broncos are.
38:53And again, this division is a tough one. The Chargers have a little bit of a lead as far as division games. But I think the Broncos have the defense to go win this thing.
39:02Pat McAfee:I love Sean Payton too. We're all Sean Payton fans. And he loves Bo Nix. They've only continued to get better and better. They were Super Bowl darlings by a lot of people going into the season. Nice to see them 7-2 and really doing damage. They have a couple tough losses, too. You know, they've played. There are two losses. Good team. Comes with some very, very, very good teams. So I like that you're saying they're the best in the AFC West. Another great division over there at least has a chance to. Okay, let's get to your game balls. BA's game balls. Let's start in the NFC. He picks one game ball for one player representing the entire NFC.
39:38Pat McAfee:It goes to who, BA? And the NFC is Sam Darnold. Adam B. to Sam A. That first half, 14 of 14, four touchdowns. I mean, that game was over quick. Great, great game. How do you feel about him having an opportunity with the Vikings last year, leading them to a number two overall seed in the NFC? Didn't play his best games late. They sent him out of town. J.J. McCarthy, our guy, might work out for them certainly in the long run. I like the cut of J.J.'s jib for sure. But he goes up to Seattle. They got a great defense with McDonald. And offensively, Jackson Smith and Jigba wants to be the best wide receiver in the league, has a chance to certainly be that.
40:16Pat McAfee:And Sam slices and dices. What a perfect fit for him at this stage of his career, it feels like. It really is. JSN and him have a connection that's really special. And, you know, they got other weapons, too. But that defense is legit. And I really like where Seattle is right now. Yeah, that uniform's awesome, too. All right, let's go to your AFC game ball. Once again, he is picking one player from the entire AFC that deserves a game ball. Go ahead, coach. In the history of, we talked about last week, anytime your name goes with, in the history of, Cam Little. 68-yard field goal. Winning points in the game.
40:49Great kick, man.
40:50Pat McAfee:Yeah, it was a great kick. It was historic. And we actually got a chance to catch up with Cam Little this morning. Ladies and gentlemen, the man who holds the longest field goal in the history of the NFL. And it's not even his longest that he is kicked in an NFL-sanctioned game. Ladies and gentlemen, 68-yard bomber from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Woo Pig Suey. Ladies and gentlemen, game middle.
41:17Darius Butler:Woo Pig Suey! Pleasure to be on the show. I'm excited, man. Always wanted to be on the show.
41:25Pat McAfee:Woo Pig Suey! There it is, yeah. We always get it wrong. Yeah. Yeah, we try our best, Cam. Thank you for joining us. And you said you've always wanted to be on the show. I, since watching you kick a ball, I have always been very fascinated by how you create so much leg speed. So let's just dive into this. I don't think you're like the most jacked guy.
41:47Darius Butler:No, that's a very fair statement.
41:48Pat McAfee:Yeah, little is your last name. I don't think you're tiny, but you're certainly not one of these massive guys. Have you always had an incredibly strong leg? Like in soccer, whenever you were growing up, Were you always the free kick taker, always had a strong leg? And how did you get to this point?
42:02Darius Butler:Yes, I think that's where I kind of first started. I was always good at taking free kicks and penalty kicks and all that stuff kind of tied into me learning how to kick a football. And obviously, going to Coles camps growing up, I never really had the fastest leg. And I developed a little later in my high school career. When I was going to these camps, I saw guys that had faster legs than me. And I would always ask them, like, how are you guys getting your legs faster? Because at the end of the day, that's what gets you the most power on the ball. and so you know started developing a faster leg and now it's like my best trade as a kicker because obviously I'm a six foot one 175 pound guy that cannot squat a huge amount so everyone always asked me what how do you kick the ball so far I think ball contact and leg speed is the key to
42:45Pat McAfee:kicking the ball so far and high yeah you're hitting the ball sweet every time you're hitting that ball sweet which is not easy you know Vinatieri I was very lucky to work alongside obviously everybody in the kicking world knows that Vinatieri Vinny whenever I got there you I used to be a kicker in college, and I had a strong leg, but I had no idea where the ball was going. So his big thing was like, hey, you cannot sacrifice the sweet spot. So if you have to swing 85 % to hit the sweet spot, do that. If you have to swing 75 % to hit the sweet spot, do that. Now, granted, if you can swing hundo and hit the sweet spot, that is where the magic comes.
43:18Pat McAfee:And that's where the Cam Littles of the world come in, I do believe. This generation of kickers bombing it further than ever. You hit a 70-yarder in preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everybody loses their mind. They're like, holy hell. And then, obviously, the conversation's about Aubrey in Dallas. You hitting that 68-yarder now against the Raiders. Because of the 70-yarder, were you confident walking out there this was going to be a make? Like, that obviously has to be the mindset. But 68 is so – you're so much closer to the other uprights than the ones that you're kicking to. What is the mentality as you're walking out there, Cam?
43:49Darius Butler:Yeah, I mean, you kind of go out there and Logan – Obviously, Logan and Ross both do a great job of prepping me for this stuff. Logan always thinks I hit the ball the best when I'm swinging the hardest. And so I told him right as I was going out there to spot it, I said, I'm swinging hard at this football. I'm making sure that I'm going to drill this thing. And so, you know, I spot the ball and I'm looking down at the spot and I tell him that. And he's like, hit that ball hard, boy. Hit it hard and obviously stayed left middle and just stuck dead straight down that left middle the whole time. and, you know, you go out there and you prep so much from deep in practice and, you know, you're working with your op for fun back there at 60-plus sometimes.
44:25Darius Butler:And then for it to finally come to fruition again was so cool.
44:29Pat McAfee:Yeah, and a real game, too. They won't give you credit for that 70-yarder. You know, they won't give you credit. They won't give you credit. We will, obviously, because we've seen it before. But 68 in the history books forever, brother, at least for the time being. Now, talking about hitting that 68-yarder, last night there was an op. Go ahead, Tone.
44:44Darius Butler:Yeah, Cam, I don't know if you were watching the game at all or not, but when Aubrey goes back to 68, and we had mentioned it yesterday on the show, we were like, oh, 68, you know, this could get broken this season. Aubrey's going tonight, and then he steps back to 68. Is he one of the guys, like, when you go back and you're like, oh, no, like, is he going to do it tonight? What?
45:05Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, we have breaking news. Cam's full interview will be available on YouTube and all the other social media platforms. the Jets are trading Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts because the Colts need secondary help and the Jets is the Jets. Sauce, welcome to town, brother. Okay, this defense that Lou Anarumo runs, D-Bud. What will Sauce Gardner be able to do in this defense as you put your ears back on? Shout out to Cam Little for joining us. Full conversation with him will be available elsewhere. Sauce Gardner, you're going to love Indianapolis. You're going to love this place.
45:45Pat McAfee:We're going to love you. Lou Anarumo's defense with Sauce Gardner, what does this mean?
45:49Adam Schefter:I mean, with everything that Lou does as far as all the different things that he throws at offenses, when you have a chess piece like Sauce who can just go up and lock down a guy on either side of the field, who can lock up a number one receiver, I mean, it's going to be tremendous. I'm blown away by this trade just because of the amount of money that we've invested in the secondary already this offseason, bringing over Cam Bynum, paying Mooney, all-pro Mooney. and now you have two, what, 25,$30 million cornerbacks on each side of the field when Mooney's healthy. So, I mean, this is unbelievable.
46:20Adam Schefter:This is completely different than what Chris Ballard has done in the past, but this is another sign that the big three, they're all in, and they want to win the championship, and they want to win it now.
46:30Pat McAfee:Okay, so I sent a text this morning to the building, okay, and our source says, told us, I want to read the exact quote here. I said, you guys cooking today? Question mark. Response I got was buckle up. Okay. So there was a chance that this was going to be exciting. Now, NFL free agency deadline is always a lot of sizzle. Okay. A lot of sizzle. No steak.
47:00Darius Butler:Yeah.
47:00Pat McAfee:There's a lot of talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk. But when push comes to shove to actually make the decision to send an all pro out of the building and let somebody else reap the benefits of that that's a huge push comes to shove moment that has to happen the jets moving on from sauce what does this mean for the new york jets just paid him legit legit and aaron glenn defensive coach corner former corner yeah so i i am very coach ba what is your thoughts on why the jets would make this move with sauce especially after they just paid him and what do we think is let's not even project what's in return because we will Always be surprised, boy, what is going to happen.
47:37Pat McAfee:Coorts are trading two first-round picks. Holy shit. Wait a minute. What the hell? Sauce, Sauce, I'm pumped for you. I am pumped for you here, Sauce. Two first-round picks for a corner. So now we got our answer on why the Jets moved on. Yeah. Now we got our answer for why the Jets moved on. Two first-round picks to the Jets for a corner in Sauce. Listen, Sauce, we're going to love you here, okay? We are very, very. And now the way you start looking at this, if you're the Colts, is our team is going to be a mature team. Okay? All of a sudden we got guys at basically every single spot. Our offensive line pretty much locked down and we got them for a while.
48:16Pat McAfee:Wide receivers, we got a few years with all of them. On the defensive side, we signed a bunch of guys to a bunch of deals. We got people locked up for a while. So I guess you would look at the draft as a potential chance to supplement somebody, but really the way it's being viewed here clearly is like, we don't need the draft right now. We got guys. We got a team that can go. So let's add a piece that is elite to a defense that has to get better for us to go where we want to go in the Super Bowl. Two first-rounders feels like a lot. Senior NFL insider for ESPN, ladies and gentlemen, Shefty joins us.
48:47Pat McAfee:Shefty. Shefty, good reporting, brother. We appreciate that. Two first-rounders for Sauce Gardner. Was everybody or anybody else in the market for Sauce, or was it just the Colts? And did they have to get up two ones because that's what the Jets needed to let him out of the building?
49:02Darius Butler:We got Rasheed Jaheim getting traded right now, too. That just came down. Hold on one second. To where? Hold on one second. Hold on. Hold on.
49:11Adam Schefter:I'm tweeting.
49:12Darius Butler:We're going nuts here right now. Okay, hold on. So Rasheed, Sauce Gardner, two first-round picks.
49:20Pat McAfee:We'll call you back. We'll call you back. Do your thing. Do your thing. We'll call you back. We'll call you back. Great job. We'll call you back. We appreciate you, Shefty. Lock him on. You're in the back of the minivan. Gain on a lot of service. Love this. Two ones, Coach V.A. What is this message that's kind of being sent, you think, by both parties? Great move for the Colts. The two ones are going to be from like 26 to 32. Yeah, exactly. Sauce Gardner, he's worth this. To put your defense out there like this, I think it's a fantastic move by Chris Ballard in the big three. And, again, that locker room is going to be jacked up coming to practice.
49:54Pat McAfee:Yeah, I think so. And Sauce's vibes feel like should be great in our Indianapolis locker room, I think. Established culture. and you talk about there's basically early second rounders here. Two of them, though. Two twos for Sauce is still a massive trade. Oh, yeah. If that's how you view it, even though they're going to be late first, probably 32nd a couple times. Exactly. If I had to guess with the way this Colts team. Let's look at stand-ins right now. Yeah, Colts are winning the Super Bowl. So they got the 32nd pick for the next couple years. Way to go, Jets. Yeah, right. We pick up all pro, Sauce Gardner.
50:24Pat McAfee:He's going to be all over the place. Do you think anybody else was in the market for Sauce? Did people know Sauce was on there? Or do you think this was a targeted attack from Chris Ballard? We'll offer up two ones. There's no way they'll be able to turn that down. They're in the middle of a shit storm. They're trying to build this whole thing over. We take on a contract and they get two ones. This would be an easy sell. We can get them. Or do you think maybe sauce was on the market a little bit and Chris Ballard caught wind and said, wait a second, I love some sauce out here in Indianapolis.
50:48Darius Butler:I don't think anyone thought he was on the market. This is why today can be awesome because we hear all these names and it's guys that aren't moving the needle like Sauce Gardner is. But you look at everything. A lot of times someone knows something, but I hadn't seen. The Jets have been talked about a bunch in terms of who they might be willing to give away. Jermaine Johnson, Brees Hall, guys like that. Sauce Gardner, you just assume, especially with the Aaron Glenn connection, him being a cornerback, you assume that this guy was going to be a pillar of their defense for the next 10 years. So no, I think this is just a situation where Bauer looked at him.
51:24Darius Butler:He said, you know what? I really like this guy, and I want him.
51:26Pat McAfee:And the big three said, I'm about to—Carly writing her notes down. I'm about sick of watching this defense. Yeah. It's going right now. We got a lot of injuries back there as well. So to your point about the big three, they're taking on a big contract. I mean, that's more money out the door. So you got Carly, Kalen, and Casey saying, let's go try to win this Super Bowl here.
51:49Darius Butler:Early leaders of the trade deadline by a wide, wide, wide margin.
51:52Pat McAfee:Are they best owners in sports? Are they best owners in sports all of a sudden? I'm starting to wonder.
51:58Adam Schefter:This is crazy. The two first-round picks, obviously, that's crazy. I don't care if they're late first round. Those are still two first-round picks. In this climate, that's insane. But it also lets you know, in my opinion, how confident they are in Daniel Jones going forward. Because now I, for 1 ,000%, expect Daniel Jones to probably sign an extension before this season is over. Because obviously, this is going to be our quarterback of the future. We finally found this guy. and then going forward. So my mind is still blown because of the moves that they already made this offseason. But to B.A.'s point, Sauce is the person that can come in the building and completely shift that needle on the defense because if we look at our defense, the one thing we are missing is kind of like that elite closer on the front end.
52:38Pat McAfee:And ladies and gentlemen, joining us live from a chaotic car ride, Adam Schefter's back. Schefter? Oh, he's on. What's going on, guys? Okay, who are you? Who are you?
52:47Darius Butler:I love this. there's a lot there's more coming there's more coming okay we'll call you back we'll call you back we'll call you back we'll call you back
52:58Pat McAfee:yes what's going on Jeff no that's not yeah I don't know yeah there's more coming like ladies and gentlemen Rashid Shahid traded to the Seahawks from the same wow coach BA obviously down there in the NFC South you've seen Rashid Shahid zoom down the sideline catching a deep ball your thoughts on this move for the Seahawks. Sam Darnold gets another weapon for that offense that has been spectacular. Yeah, but JSN and this guy is a game wrecker, boy. He's a touchdown waiting to happen. Maybe the fastest guy in the league. Play speed right now. More than just a receiver, he's reverses. Just get the ball in this kid's hand.
53:36He's electric.
53:36Pat McAfee:Let's talk about Schneider up there in Seattle. Yeah, this is quite a... Remember, us included. He said, what's this guy doing? He kicks Pete Carroll out of the building. Pete Carroll, by the way, still has his fastball. One for two. Could have kicked an extra point. would have tied the game. One for two for the good of football to try to win it. They end up losing it. That's another L. They got a lot of those. People are thinking they're going to be unloading. Jacoby Myers out the door already this morning. So I don't want to talk about that decision for them not being the right one. Obviously, the Seattle Seahawks people feel great about the decision to move on from Pete Carroll, move on from DK, move on from Ty, move on from Geno, move on from that entire era.
54:11Pat McAfee:We're going to paint the fucking walls, actually. Paint the walls. We're moving on from all of this. We got a defense coordinator from Baltimore. He's going to come in here. We're going to change this entire culture. I think we all said, what an idiot, this guy. This is dumb to be able to do this. But what we're seeing is a completely different version of the Seahawks. This team does not look like the teams of the past. This team is its own iteration of the Seattle Seahawks team. They're electrifying to watch. This is only going to help. Rashid Shaheed is so fast. So good. Speed kills matchups is what every person in the NFL says.
54:45Pat McAfee:Every phase, special teams, defense, offense. If you have speed, can't coach it, first of all. You either got it or you don't. And you can have all the plans in the world for somebody. And if they just run around you and by you, there ain't shit you can do about it. And this is one of those types of guys. And now Sam Darnold, who's having an MVP year, has him on the opposite side of him somehow of JSN.
55:06Adam Schefter:So now you're going to a very good quarterback. But even the play caller, Kubiak was in New Orleans a couple seasons ago with that last season. and we were all putting them in the Super Bowl after that first, you know, four-game start that they had. And he was a big – Rasheed Shahid was a huge part of that. And you talked about playing it for him. Like, he's not going to be a guy that you're actually going to be able to game playing for as a defense because you got a double-team JSN. And then Horton has been coming along. He's making – I think he just had two touchdowns on Sunday night football.
55:32Adam Schefter:Yeah. And then now you got Rasheed Shahid who's kind of going to be that forgotten guy who can take the top off any defense or any given down. So, yeah, this is another element and another sign of a team that's all in to go and win the championship. chip this year.
55:44Darius Butler:Yeah, and for both those teams that are clearly not all in, like now with the Jets kind of all eyes turn to Garrett Wilson and Jermaine Johnson. Like if Sauce Gardner's getting moved even though they just paid him, you assume Garrett Wilson might because he's also going to fetch multiple first round picks, possibly more than that too. And then for the Saints it's Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara. Like it feels as though Shahid was also in this kind of list, but there are all these other big names on both of these teams still that are available.
56:10Pat McAfee:Sauce, welcome to the city, man. Welcome. God.
56:14Darius Butler:He's a Midwest guy, too, so he should fit right in.
56:16Pat McAfee:He is, isn't he? Oh, Detroit. Detroit. New York, it's been real. Big heart. See you later. Going to go try a win at the Super Bowl in Indianapolis real quick.
56:26Darius Butler:Man.
56:27Pat McAfee:Sauce, I can't wait for you to come out in the Loud House, buddy. That place is going to go crazy. Oh, Indiana Midwest with the name Sauce. The amount of marketing. Oh, welcome to the city, Sauce.
56:40Adam Schefter:He kind of got a pay raise, too. Going from Jersey, New York to... Yeah.

58:01Hello, beautiful people, and welcome back to our Humble Abode.
58:05Pat McAfee:It's underdo on this BA Day, November 4th, 2025. Hour 2 of the program begins right now. Football! There's a lot going on. That cadence was from a man who is a coach at football for 47 years. BA was here. Coach. Coach went through BS or no BS with BA in the first hour and gave out his game balls. Congrats to Sam Darnold in the NFC and Cam Little in the AFC, winning B.A.'s game balls for the week. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here. Great to see you back, man. Talks the tables here at Boston Corner and Antti Schmidt. Boys, wild trade deadline day.
58:43Darius Butler:Wow. Unreal.
58:43Pat McAfee:It's a wild trade deadline day. Now, you know, Sauce Gardner is the main event, the marquee, the headline of this particular trade deadline day. And where is the New York Jet going? Well, obviously Indianapolis, Indiana, because the Indianapolis Colts are all in. Chris Ballard makes a move with the New York Jets for Sauce Gardner with two first-round draft picks. Now, the Colts are thinking those draft picks are going to be obviously late in the first round, probably 32nd. And also A.D. Mitchell, I am being told. Oh, wow. A.D. Mitchell also sent to New York. So we give up two ones, late ones, maybe the 32nd pick both those times.
59:19Pat McAfee:And also A.D. Mitchell, who's a wide receiver that has not been getting on the field for the last three, four weeks since the Rams game. In the Rams game, obviously, we saw the ball get dropped at a half-yard line and then also a holding call away from the thing that called back another touchdown. We should have beat the Rams. We lose to the Rams. A lot of people say it's because A.D. Mitchell. Jay Glazer. Scoopage.
59:44Pat McAfee:Jay Glazer's back in the game. He is. He doesn't like to do the day-to-day. No, he doesn't. But every once in a while, he'll drop in on a Sunday and say, hey, here's some scoopage. And then here on trade deadline day, Jay Glazer has some scoopage. That's crazy. Yeah, you kidding me?
59:56Darius Butler:Any of the New York teams? A.G. Mitchell?
59:58Pat McAfee:Yeah.
59:59Darius Butler:Stay tuned. More Scope is coming.
1:00:01Pat McAfee:Really? Is there a lot on the way?
1:00:03Darius Butler:Well, I mean, I'm not so sure the Jets aren't going to trade everybody.
1:00:06Pat McAfee:Did you think Sauce Garden was going to get traded today? I did not. Two firsts in A.D. Mitchell. That's a lot of people. Well, it makes sense.
1:00:12Darius Butler:A.D. Mitchell, that basically paves the way. They are going to trade Garrett Wilson now. I mean, you know, A.D. Mitchell, Garrett Wilson is kind of like the same thing. Six-seven? Exactly. Well said. Well said. So, yeah, stay tuned. I mean, I know Shefty, you know, well, I don't know how I'm going to shoehorn 6-7, 6-7 in there after. You already did it. But Shefty was basically in a foxhole, you know, taking mortar rounds and 50-cal bullets. So, yeah, stay tuned. More scoopage coming.
1:00:39Pat McAfee:Okay, Shefty was on two phones. He puts the tweet out. Coach received corner Sauce Gardner. The Jets receive next year and the year after's first round picks and wide receiver AD. Wow. That's a lot, man. Can't wait to have you here at Indy Sauce. Listen. I love some. We don't need draft picks, okay? We already got our team. Now, immediate follow-up. How much money do we owe Sauce Gardner? Well, it's like$600 ,000 and some for the rest of this particular season, and then it's$26.1 million for the next five years. So, you know, because of what the Jets already picked up out of his$131.5 million contract, we owe him$26.1 million for the next five years, and then only$625 ,000 for the rest of this year.
1:01:19Pat McAfee:Now, Jonathan Taylor needs a new deal, and Danny Dimes certainly needs a quarterback deal. Coach B.A., we're spending a lot of money. We feel like we can go on a run. We give up. I mean, two first-rounders is a huge deal, plus a player, A.D. Mitchell. I don't think A.D. was going to – a fresh start for A.D. was really good. Yes.
1:01:39Adam Schefter:And let's not forget what happened right before that fumble. Like, that is what A.D. Mitchell is supposed to be. That is the – he's a talented, talented dude. Made some bonehead decisions, obviously, but he is a very – what was he, a second-round pick? We watched him play in the college playoff. Talented player, fresh start. I don't think the Jets are going to move him from Gary Wilson, but who knows? Just pay him. I think this – Like you would know. Like them going all in for stacking up draft capital to go and get a quarterback to throw to Gary Wilson and A.D. Mitchell and whoever else that they keep there, but we'll see.
1:02:12Pat McAfee:Coach B.A., we got Danny Dimes that needs to get paid. Let's assume we pay him. Jonathan Taylor needs to get paid. Let's assume we pay him. We've already paid Pittman. Alec Pierce is coming up on a contract on the defensive side. DeForest Buckner, we've paid. I think Quentin Nelson offensive line, we've paid. You got Moody, we've paid. Cam Bynum, we've paid. Zaire, we've paid. Bernard Ryman. We've paid a lot of guys. Feels like now is the window, right? This is now officially the window where the Colts are expecting to win a Super Bowl. Coming into the season, nobody outside of the Indianapolis Colts locker room and a few select Colts fans thought that they could win a Super Bowl this year.
1:02:51Pat McAfee:I think the Colts thought that they had a very good roster, just needed a quarterback. They get Danny Dimes as their quarterback. They're not paying him a lot of money. They decided to really make some plays to go all in here. What are your thoughts on what the Colts are doing in roster construction? And can they win a Super Bowl this year? I don't think there's any doubt. They've got to stay healthy, obviously, but bringing sauce in solidifies that back in. And like I said, you get the other kid healthy. But now you don't have to pay two first-round picks. So you're saving money. Interesting.
1:03:20Pat McAfee:You're saving money. You can always put it on the back end. There's ways to massage that thing, the salary cap. It's going to go up again. So to me, spend it now. When you've got a chance to win, you go win. All right? Just don't wait for the future. You guys did that at Tampa pretty good, I think. Hey, let's go get it, and we got it. and Jason Light does such a great job. We haven't lost much because Baker Mayfield came in and saved us like Danny Dimes has. And so it's the same thing. Okay, well, hopefully we have the same outcome as you guys going all in. And I think if you were one of those Colts fans before the season that voted, I have no optimism in this team.
1:03:59Pat McAfee:I do wonder how you feel on this particular day because we just get beat by the Steelers pretty good. I mean, we got beat by the Steelers pretty good. That was only a seven-point game. Let's go to Hammer, Don Tons, AP Tone. That was only a seven-point game, obviously. We all watched that. But the Colts here, are they acknowledging a mistake, you think, against the Pittsburgh Steelers or what their faults are? And what do you take from this move from the New York Jets moving on from Sausage?
1:04:22Darius Butler:It was a close game. It was a seven-point game. Great comeback by the Colts. I wouldn't say – I don't think the secondary was an issue versus the Steelers because that was more of a turnover issue, offensive issue for the Colts in that game. but throughout that game all the JJ Watt was talking about was you know how great the offense was but the you know the defense gives up a bunch of yards that has kind of been the Achilles heel so far even though it hasn't bit them yet there I think they were like 26 in yards or something like that but they weren't giving up points so adding sauce is obviously going to help like help with that and that is a huge move for Chris Ballard now he's been there for a long time wouldn't say he was on a hot seat because they're having a great season he was on a hot seat probably before the season, but this is a move to, you know, go for the Super Bowl that was promised to us to this decade.
1:05:09Pat McAfee:Yeah, I think, you know, and also Jim Irsay is obviously in the thoughts and the minds of everybody over there. And they're like, you know what? Feels like we got a special season. Let's go ahead. What would Jim? Let's go for it. Let's go for it, Pards. And I appreciate them doing that. Trade compensation has come in for the Rashid Shaheed trade. Seahawks are sending a fourth and fifth rounder to the Saints for Rashid Shaheed. That is normally the type of compensation that we're used to seeing on trade deadline day. Fourth and fifth rounder, fourth and sixth rounder, two ones and a player is not normal for trade deadline day.
1:05:43Pat McAfee:But here we are. The NFL is doing it again. I do wonder if there was a memo sent out like, hey, we're fresh off of, remember, our worst Sunday that we've ever had last week. Worse than 55 years. Let's make sure we don't do that again. And also trade deadline. Let's get spicy here. Yeah. What if the NFL said, we're sick of the talk. It's more walk. Let's do this. Feels like the Jets and Colts did that. And then, you know, Schefter says there's more on the way. What will that be? What do you think Schefter's alluding to?
1:06:10Darius Butler:I mean, it feels like a lot of the biggest names that were coming into the day expecting to be traded haven't even been traded yet. Like, now I actually do believe Jalen Waddle will get traded. I didn't think Jalen Waddle was going to get traded until this Sauce Gardner came through. And the cool part about Sauce Gardner, probably making history. He's going to be the first player to play in London and Germany in a five-week span, right? Oh, yeah. That's a good question.
1:06:33Pat McAfee:B.A., how will that work? He'll join the team this week? I doubt he'll play this week.
1:06:37Darius Butler:Meet him in Berlin.
1:06:38Pat McAfee:I mean, it's the middle of season.
1:06:39Darius Butler:Yeah.
1:06:40Pat McAfee:How's that work, D-Bud? I think he'll play this week. Let's say you give up two firsts. He's playing. He's got three practices. He's getting three practices, man. He's got enough. He missed a lot of dude coverage. You got that dude. Okay, I like that.
1:06:52Adam Schefter:We need that. What's that? I think he missed. Didn't him and Garrett Wilson miss last game with some type of injury? So I think if we're giving up this. Oh, he's hurt? He's got a bum knee. It's not a big deal. Not a big injury. We wouldn't be giving up two firsts for him. Look, I trust the big three. But, yeah, I anticipate him to play this week.
1:07:09Pat McAfee:Me too. Okay, so he'll be in Germany this weekend, hopefully for the Indianapolis Colts defense. And what if we just don't give up a touchdown ever again?
1:07:18Adam Schefter:Slightly. Very likely.
1:07:21Pat McAfee:That we don't give up a touchdown? Yeah. I don't know how anybody scores on us, though. And I don't know how anybody stops us. Pretty good combo. Yeah, it is, isn't it? That is a good combo. And sure, the Steelers had four, six turnovers, five of them. What was that about? Against, what's that? What was that about?
1:07:40Adam Schefter:Where did that defense come from? That's a good team.
1:07:42Pat McAfee:2005 Super Bowl, they were in the building. Yeah, I legitimately, when I saw the photo of Bill, Ben, Aaron, Tomlin. I go, wait a minute. Bill said practice? They're letting Bill Kauer talk to these guys? I don't necessarily love anything about that because we've listened to Bill talk. He is a yinzer. Whenever you talk about what a stealer is, it's like he literally grew up in it and is it and represented it and won a Super Bowl for it. Bill Kauer and his chin are like the depiction of what a yinzer stealer is. Him being back in the building. Ben Roethlisberger, longest tenured Pittsburgh Steeler.
1:08:23Pat McAfee:Then you talk about everybody that was on the field that won a Super Bowl and the guys that hung around. You're talking about just legendary folklore around Pittsburgh that the current Steelers have to hear about. Like, they definitely go to events around Pittsburgh and they hear about those guys were Pittsburgh Steelers. Tommy Maddox is in this thing. And the stories that I've heard about Tommy Maddox, it's like people Tommy fucking Maddox. We love Tommy Gunn, you know? So you talk about everybody, let alone Porter and Farrier, you name it. The group that kind of goes on and on. But I think that group being in the building provided an opportunity for the guys that are new to the Steelers, D.K.
1:08:58Pat McAfee:Metcalf, Aaron Rodgers, you know, Darius Slade gets injured. Jalen Ramsey. That's not great. Jalen Ramsey, huge hit, a couple of different ones. I think it gave them – Johnny Smith, who are very good players. I think it gave them an opportunity to be like, oh, this is what – I'm going to want to be respected as a Steeler too. You know, it almost like provides a little bit more of an emphasis on being great whenever greatness is around from the past? I think, personally, especially with that 2005 team, Coach. Yeah, having been a part of that 2005 team, it was a very, very special unit. These guys, they cared about each other more than any team I've ever been a part of.
1:09:32Our Super Bowl 55 team was very close to that. But yeah, what a great, great group of guys right there, man. It was a fun, fun time coaching those guys.
1:09:41Pat McAfee:Ike Taylor, obviously, in there looking incredibly cool. You just, Fanica's in there looking incredibly sweet.
1:09:47Adam Schefter:Did Dick LeBeau have the headset on? I think so.
1:09:50Pat McAfee:Do we have eyes on Dick LeBeau? And that's a part of the problem. Casey Hampton looks awesome, by the way. It looks like he'd go out there and play right now if he had to. I mean, them being around, I think helped, Tone. Don't you think? I mean, the defense played different. TJ played different than he had played all year, I think, even though TJ's already had a great season and TJ is who TJ Watt is. I think he felt an obligation to, like, represent as well. I think that was something that was really kind of lingering in that place as they took on the Colts. And I'll tell you what, I didn't like it as I was watching.
1:10:21Darius Butler:I agree with you a thousand percent. It was cool pregame. A lot of the defensive players were in the huddle, like the hype-up circle that TJ Watt does before every single game. So, yes, they played motivated. And I went back and watched the tape last night because I couldn't get ESPN to work, so I couldn't watch Monday Night Football. And the D-line just whooped the Indianapolis Colts offensive line ass. So that was part of it as well. Yeah, and, yeah, I mean, lucky for me, I didn't turn off the auto pay to Hulu.
1:10:49Pat McAfee:Sure. Because I was once a Hulu guy. I was once a Hulu guy. Sunday ticket goes to YouTube TV. So I got to go over to YouTube TV. Start doing YouTube TV. Wow. Superior product. Yeah, that's what it's like. It's really good. It's really good. Coke and Pepsi. Yeah, it is. Not even. I think it's, whatever the case. for sports fans it is really good so this espn youtube tv thing is like a real i mean this is a real hey you guys need to figure this shit out type situation for sports fans because it felt like youtube tv was actually crafted for sports fans like that is like hey we're gonna try to make this the best viewing experience for sports as you possibly the quad box created for sports fans now there's people that aren't sports fans that are using that have you seen some of the quad box options oh yeah when it like you go into um so i'll go on like somebody's bus or something i'll use somebody's bus for a night so i'm using their youtube tv so it's like what channels they're used to in a smart form it's like the quad box opportunities are like okay got a political show here we got a little cartoon here you got this down here and also you got sports here yeah i didn't even think about the non-sports fans yeah but sports goes over there so last night for Monday Night Football.
1:12:01Pat McAfee:We're all kind of just in agreement that that was going to get done before Monday Night Football, right?
1:12:06Darius Butler:Yes. This thing happens every single year with either CBS or NBC or Fox or who have you. And it's always like, oh, at the time.
1:12:15Pat McAfee:I think NBC, it just happened.
1:12:16Darius Butler:It did. And it's always, oh, at the 25th hour, they come in and save the day and we don't miss any. It seems like it's mostly just posturing. I think most people assume there was no way we weren't going to be able to watch college football on Saturday. And then last night was kind of like the, oh, wow, this actually might go on for a while. And now it's to the point where it's like some of these missing game day and college football on Saturday, this isn't week one or two. We're getting to the point where it's the most important football of the season. So it seems like, yeah, if they didn't get something done before last night, because you would think the NFL is kind of the end-all be-all.
1:12:53Darius Butler:It's like we need to get this done before the Cowboys are playing on Monday Night Football.
1:12:57Pat McAfee:So I just learned of this because of what happened last night. I think the McAfee, I think, you know, the old antivirus, I think they tell you all the things you're auto-paying and can completely get rid of it. Who knows what I am still auto-paying for right now. I don't even want to know. But the Hulu one, still going. Jumped into a new phone. Jumped into a new phone. I had no idea how it got over this one. It transferred phones. I couldn't even get it working on Hulu. You must have a bullshit subscription. Well, you must be not being auto. You must have got it. You must have done a good job.
1:13:28Pat McAfee:I don't know how long I've been paying this Hulu subscription. I guess I've been paying for a long time. I took the photo, though, on the screen, a little QR code, touched the thing, went to the thing, and then my phone was like, what's the thing? I type it in, and all of a sudden, boom, Patty Hulu, you're back. It was like, okay, you guys have been charging me this entire day. It shouldn't have been that easy, I don't think, to get in there. But that was what, I mean, I racked the brain, like, how do I even get to it? Shouldn't be doing that for NFL football already. No. Should not be doing that for football at all.
1:13:54Adam Schefter:I shouldn't be on these sites that could give my damn devices AIDS. I don't want that. We're past the limewire era. I don't want to get into it. Look, I don't mind paying for it. You're talking about going into parts?
1:14:05Pat McAfee:You're talking about going into parts? Look, I got to watch the Monday Night Football.
1:14:09Adam Schefter:You know, you got to do some things. Exactly. I saw JJ Watts' tweet. I saw some other tweets. Like, it did kind of feel like a draw a line in the sand type moment. Like, nope, I'm not getting another subscription. I'm not doing another gimmick.
1:14:21Pat McAfee:I was just lucky that I was getting ripped off, basically, by the auto-pay thing. That's how I watched it. But yeah, we're all done with it. Okay. We're all done with it. And also, if you're on TV, stop telling people to go to a website to save a multi-billion dollar deal. Okay. Nobody cares what you have to say. There will be nothing that we say or any website that'll be visited that'll get this thing. There are, I don't want to say the exact names, but these people, let's put our swords down. Yeah. Let's put our swords down for a good sport. Need each other. Need each other. A lot of people saying greedy corporate.
1:14:57Pat McAfee:Greedy corporate. It's like, yeah, need each other, especially with where sports are right now. And we're in the middle of it. So let's get that done. Let's get that done. Now. And stop asking me to go to a website. Sign a petition now. I don't want to do that. So stop doing that.
1:15:11Darius Butler:That also doesn't work.
1:15:13Pat McAfee:At all. Yeah, reality of the world. Yeah, all you're doing is pissing everybody off even more. So it's like, let's just not do that. Let's just try to, okay? Somebody needs to do one. For a good a ball. For the good a ball, please. to go to ball. And then I saw some people saying, now, the country, okay, for election day, they need to see the news. Let's make sure we get a deal done. And I saw somebody post, somebody thinks election day is more important than NFL Sunday? Come on, wrong. It's like we live in that world for sure. But boy, I'll tell you what, if the election people get this deal done so that we can get ball back, we appreciate you.
1:15:50Pat McAfee:But if ball gets his deal back, for you guys, we would like some thanks for how stupid sports are. And on that note, let's put our swords down. Let's go ahead and shake some hands over there. We need to be able to access this shit easily. And also, sports are a unifier, man. Come on, we don't want to hear about business bullshit. Now granted, there is a lot. There's a lot of it, yeah. A lot of money being spent on a lot of things. By like both sides. Like a lot of money. Well, we got to survive. We got to survive. Well, we got to... And at some point, they just got to...
1:16:20Darius Butler:Erase that line in the sand.
1:16:22Pat McAfee:let's dance on that line. Let's do some line dancing. Exactly. Why don't you guys do some line dancing? There we go. Instead of standing on either side of that. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter. Hey! Schefter, how you doing, bud? We all got one phone in our hand now. Feels like that wave is over. Are you okay as you gather your thoughts?
1:16:42Darius Butler:Well, I don't think we're done. I don't think we're done. But for now, there's a little lull for two minutes, Pat. Two minutes, maybe.
1:16:50Pat McAfee:Okay, tell me about Sauce Gardner to the Colts, please. We had you there for a second, then you picked up another phone, then you lost your mind. Can you please chit-chat a little bit about that play? And two firsts and A.D. Mitchell feels like a lot. Is that what was needed to get that deal done?
1:17:04Darius Butler:The Jets signed him to a four-year,$120.4 million contract extension this summer. So clearly they were planning for him to be a part of the team. And in this particular case, I think when Micah Parsons gets traded for two ones and a player, that sort of sets the baseline for a team that's not necessarily looking to deal a cornerback. And obviously the Colts have been scouring the league looking for help in that area, looking for another cornerback, looking for defensive help. And I got a text there. Pat, you called me this morning and you said the Colts make a trade. I got a text from somebody in Indy that said, we need a four-leaf clover.
1:17:43Darius Butler:We need a little bit of luck to make this happen. So obviously they felt like the luck kicked in and they were able to get it done. Now, the conversations between the Jets and the Colts have been going on for weeks. Weeks. And they went until the trade deadline today. And obviously, at noon or so, whatever, what time? 1.20? I don't remember what time this came down. Half hour, hour ago. The Jets felt comfortable to make this trade. The Colts felt comfortable to make the trade. The Jets now have four first-round draft picks the next two years. Look, they're going to be in the quarterback market.
1:18:14Darius Butler:They're going to be a quarterback team in the next two years, whether that's this year or next year. But it looks like, in a way, they're kind of tearing some things down and rebuilding. And the Colts know that they have an opportunity in much the way the commanders did it this time last year when they traded for Marshawn Lattimore. And the commanders went to the NFC Championship game. The Colts obviously view this as a window to take advantage of it. They have Daniel Jones on a friendly quarterback deal. and so they went ahead and they traded two ones to the Jets along with wide receiver A.D.
1:18:50Darius Butler:Mitchell who obviously had lost his place in Indy because of that fumble early in the season and the Colts have other receivers as well. So Jets need receiver help. They traded for John Mechie last week. They traded for A.D. Mitchell this week and they had two ones as well.
1:19:07Pat McAfee:Okay, so A.D. Mitchell also threw a pick six last year and said that guy looked like Ed Reed. He threw it to him. I mean, there's just a lot of things that did not go right for A.D. Mitchell. Hey, Pat. Go ahead. You want to call me in two minutes here?
1:19:19Darius Butler:I got calls coming in here. Yep, you're the man. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure. Hey, Chef D.
1:19:23Pat McAfee:I don't have time. Two-minute roll. I gave you all the information I have, okay? Now I'm going to go get more information. So if you could shut up, please, if we could move along. A.D. Mitchell heading over there. Obviously, fresh start. We're happy for him. Sauce coming to town. I was going to ask him, are we paying Danny Dimes and Jonathan Taylor now, too? How do we go about doing that? I appreciate the fact that you are like, they'll figure that out. That's because they got Mike Greenberg down there in Tampa. Remember, he's one of the greatest salary cap gymnasts of all time. Colts are going to have to do that as well as they continue to try to forge a Super Bowl champion team as they trade for Sauce Gardner.
1:19:56Pat McAfee:Sauce Gardner is a member of the Indianapolis Colts right now. Hell yeah, dude.
1:20:02Adam Schefter:As a fan, you got to love your team going all in. Yeah. Like figure it out. Okay, we got to pay this guy. Whatever. Figure it out, just like I'm sure Cowboys fans felt about Michael Pollard. Figure it out, trade, and pay for the good players. What the hell do we got there?
1:20:15Pat McAfee:We got good news. We got good news. Not a trade. No, no. NFL Plus has some stats here. Sauce Gardner has not allowed more than two receptions to a single receiver in a game this season. He has forced a tight window in 61.9 % of his targets, the highest rate of any player targeted at least five times in coverage. Yep, I like these. Let's keep feeding them.
1:20:34Darius Butler:I was going to say, to this point, I actually saw that he is the 22nd ranked cornerback in the NFL per pro football focus.
1:20:40Pat McAfee:Well, we all know how we feel about PFF rankings. And they're still putting them out there.
1:20:45Darius Butler:Oh, yeah.
1:20:45Pat McAfee:We got their week. Chris Collinsworth said, here's a guy that negotiated a deal for you to run those every single week. I don't care what J.J. Watts is. I don't care what anybody else thinks. Sauce Gardner, obviously, coming to Colts is a big deal. We'll keep up with Schefter if any other trades happen before the 4 p.m. trade deadline. We had some news around the NFL. Now, Frankie Lou Vu, Washington Commanders linebacker, he has been suspended without pay. Now, every suspension of a game is without pay. You lose a game check, but I think they want to make sure people know, like, hey, it's not just a game.
1:21:14Pat McAfee:They're also losing out on a game check, which is 1 17th of your salary. So it's pretty large for repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during Sunday's game against Seattle. This is Lou Vu's third hip drop tackle of the season. He was previously fined in actions week four and week eight. Then there was a video that kind of accompanied this with all three of the tackles. Now, whenever hip drop tackle was brought into the lingo of NFL football, nobody really knew how it was going to be officiated. Because also, this is called just a tackle for some people, including Frankie Louvoo.
1:21:49Pat McAfee:I think this is potentially his style of tackle, especially with how easily he does it. If you go back in time with Debo, whenever Debo was kind of, James Harrison was kind of changing the way rules were being made. While rules were being changed, he was leading with his helmet. He had to change the way he tackles completely. Frankie Louvoo appears to be a guy who's been doing this style of tackle for a very, very long time. And we all can see it. I don't think we all love that it's called a hip drop tackle. But I think it's a good way to describe exactly what it is. It's dangerous. and whenever the rule was made to ban it, you heard a lot of old school football people say, it's stupid, why are we doing this, why are we doing this?
1:22:27Pat McAfee:Then whenever you see it, you think to yourself, that's pretty nasty looking. It's like a horse collar, but even more weight almost debunked.
1:22:34Adam Schefter:Yeah, we were all in the league when the rules changed significantly. James Harrison was obviously a big part of that, Brandon Merriweather. I feel like it was one week span where it was probably three or four hits where the NFL came in and they had to do something. And there was a lot of question marks around that, like how is it fair how would defenders be able to adjust you know the target area hit them between here and there but we did and we do that's just it's just a part of player safety is how the game is evolving and we can see these tackles not this one but the other two I think on this clip that are clearly uh very very dangerous plays so yeah you definitely have to adjust how he plays and how you tackle because they are uh player safety big issue BA how do you talk to the players
1:23:11Pat McAfee:as these rules are changing and I know your your entire thing is like hey everybody's playing with these rules, but whenever they were changing the strike zone on quarterbacks and tackling as a whole, that went against everything they were taught basically their entire life. I'm not saying Frankie Louvoo has been taught this, but it looks like this is a style of tackle that Frankie Louvoo has been doing his entire life. It looks like he just he looks like he has a cape on. Just get some and then drop and stuff. Whenever these rules are changing, what is your messaging to the players and how much are you addressing it with them?
1:23:40Yeah, totally. We get every clip from the league. Make our own clips. All right, this is legal. This is illegal. We are not breaking the rules. We are not beating ourselves. All right? So you figure it out. You figure it out. You get used to this shit quick. All right? Because I don't want to see any 15-yard penalties. I don't care if they take your money.
1:23:57Pat McAfee:Jeez! B.A. Hey, that's your damn fault for doing it. But, no, I'm all for it. This obviously, I think it's more dangerous than the horse collar. Now, the horse collar was supposedly you had to slide under the back of their legs and got to any time you just grabbed it and pulled him down, they started calling it. But this is a very dangerous play. It has to be out of the game. Agreed. Frankie Louvoo, first player suspended for the hip drop tackle. Joining us again, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter.
1:24:26Darius Butler:Schefter, what's going on? Well, Pat, I just don't think we're done yet for the day. I think that we have a chance to have more activity. It doesn't mean it'll come down, but the phones, they're lighting up right now, and we'll see if more stuff is going to get done. It's been a crazy day. Obviously, we brought up the Rashid Shahid trade. The Seahawks are sending fourth and fifth round picks in this year's draft to the Saints in return for Rashid Shahid. So he goes to the Seattle Seahawks. Jacoby Myers goes to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sauce Gardner goes to the Indianapolis Colts. Logan Wilson went this morning from the Bengals to the Cowboys.
1:25:09Darius Butler:And like I said, I just don't think we're done yet, Pat. I think this has turned into a crazier day than I think most people expect. I said to you this morning, we get a few moves today. A few moves, right? We've gotten a few, but they were of larger magnitude. And I started to tell you before when I was really interrupted by the cell service that is not great here in Connecticut, but now we're in a good spot, that the Colts felt like they needed to have some luck to get this done. and obviously they stepped up in the form of two first-round picks and A.D. Mitchell to get this done. I don't think the Jets ever would have imagined trading Sauce Gardner, but if you're in the Jets' spot and you've won one game and you know you're going to be in the quarterback market and you know you're going to be reconstructing that roster, you might as well move on from some of the players and start from scratch, and that's what they did here with Sauce Gardner.
1:25:57Pat McAfee:Okay, Shefty, we appreciate you. What teams should we expect to maybe be active here? Who's blowing up the phones? Is there a certain couple or is everybody still kind of searching to see what's available?
1:26:09Darius Butler:Uh, well, I would say that, uh, right now there's, I think Dallas is still making calls. You know, we'll see if Miami can get something done for Bradley Chubb. Um, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's a lot of stuff going on. Yeah.
1:26:24Pat McAfee:I don't want to give it away. We got it. Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Schefter. Thank you. Full panic. One phone with the other one. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, guys, a lot's going on here. Then people watch him on the show. People start feeding him info whenever he's on the show. Yep. And then he has to read it while talking. What am I allowed to say? What am I not allowed to say? Is this real? Is this not real? I like the magnitude of the trades that have been taking place here. We'll be joined by Jordan Poyer, all pro-po. We'll be joining us. Obviously, he's back with the Buffalo Bills, who just had a massive win over the Kansas City Chiefs here in a matter of moments.
1:26:56Pat McAfee:Buffalo Bills made a lot of plays this offseason. Oh, yeah. He's paying a lot of people. It doesn't feel like Bean's getting that active here in the trade deadline. I feel like they feel good about their team. Is that probably what that means?
1:27:05Adam Schefter:Probably, but we never know. We got a couple hours left. We never know what Brandon Bean's up to.
1:27:10Pat McAfee:And Schefter says, you know, this is a lot more chaotic than I thought. This morning he said he was on a – I don't know if he was on – what are this one called? Elliptical. Yeah, elliptical. I think he was on an elliptical maybe because there was striding, but it wasn't as much bouncing as running. So it felt like it was potentially an elliptical on a FaceTime. And he said, you know, we had a lot yesterday. Logan Wilson this morning. We'll probably have a couple today.
1:27:33Adam Schefter:Shefty on the lips. Did he look like an absolute goofball?
1:27:36Pat McAfee:To be honest, it was pretty blurry. So all I saw was his white shirt he was wearing and his face was just kind of bouncing back and forth. Clearly had phone on whatever machine was right in front of him. Shefty works out a lot.
1:27:46Darius Butler:He gets after it. I believe he works out every single day.
1:27:48Pat McAfee:Yeah, Shefty really gets after it. Yeah, he's a dog. He's a lot older than he looks. Like a lot older than he looks. Really? Yes. He is much older than... 72. Yeah, he's 70, yeah. All right. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, he is not 72. Okay? He is not 72. Ladies and gentlemen, a man who is enjoying his eighth year just with the Buffalo Bills. Has a nickname of all pro. Poe, obviously friend of the program. We appreciate the hell out of him. Fresh out of a massive dub over the Kansas City Chiefs from the Buffalo Bills. Ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Poyer. Yeah! Hello, sir. What up, Poe? Good to see you, man.
1:28:24How's life? Life is life, brother. You know? Just breathing and walking, man. It's a beautiful life, man.
1:28:30Pat McAfee:Hey, life is life, and especially whenever you're on a defense that is as pummeling as you guys were against that Chiefs team. Hey, my big takeaway was that you guys beat up the Kansas City Chiefs. I don't think that is normally something that we say about the Buffalo Bills defense. Not that we don't think you're a tough group, but it felt like you guys established some dominance. Is Bosa a reason for that as you guys get in there, or why do you think maybe you guys looked a little different against this Chiefs team? Yeah, absolutely. You know, anytime your pass rush is playing that way, anytime your defense line is playing like that, it makes it a lot easier on the back end.
1:29:03And, you know, there's a huge emphasis going into this game to really play team defense, you know, all around the board. And, you know, we had a great game plan going in and just being able to execute that was a huge highlight. You know, players made plays. Got one of the boys right here. I want y 'all – this is a new friend. Come over here. I want y 'all to see the new friend of the show right here. Y 'all got to get this man on. Yeah. Mr. Maxwell out here. Yeah. Hey, Maxwell out.
1:29:27Pat McAfee:How you doing, bro? What's the deal? What's the deal? Hey, life is good, huh? Just beat the shit out of the Chiefs. Now we're living large up there in Buffalo. Okay, okay, man. Yes, sir. This is the guy right here, man. A great young player, man. Going to be a player for a long time. He was playing the game. And, yeah, man, just wanted to go in and play some really good team defense. And we did that. And hopefully we can carry that momentum into this weekend going down south. Okay, let's talk about you being an old-ass man now. You know, they talked about you being a mentor in a couple different articles about Cole Bishop.
1:29:56Pat McAfee:up obviously max stopping by there what is it like now at this stage of your career are you enjoying it yeah man i'm grateful grateful to just be here to you know be with this program again you know i didn't want to leave after getting cut here a couple years ago and you know you could say i went down down south with just kind of more um more anger that i that i got cut from here and you know that that situation was what it was i learned a lot about myself um learned a lot about life and I couldn't be more grateful to be here to be they call me unk now which is crazy um you know and you know this is where this is where I want to retire this is where I you know I've said it many times where I want to retire I love this city I love this organization I love these fans and uh you know I couldn't think of a better situation to be here the role I the role I'm in is obviously a lot different than it's than I've had before but really just embracing it and just trying to help these young players come along, trying to help this team and do everything that I can to help this team go on this run.
1:30:57And so it's been really special. And we're halfway through the season, and we've got some momentum right now. We want to keep that going. And we'll go down south this weekend. It's been a roller coaster for sure. But, you know, just grateful for it all.
1:31:10Pat McAfee:Yeah, Unc, you're an old-ass man. You guys are 6-2. Obviously, I've already had your bye week, so your old-ass body is certainly going to be tested as we go forward. D-Bud has a question for you.
1:31:20Adam Schefter:Absolutely, Jordan. I want to ask you, how's the body feeling? How's the mind? And what did you see out there? Because Mahomes had his worst completion percentage in his career against you guys. I know both teams were very familiar with each other. What did you see out there on the field from 15? Yeah, you know, the body feels great. You know, obviously not getting any younger, but this is definitely the healthiest that I've been since, you know, I tore my UCL in 2022. That kind of trickled down with a lot of different injuries. You know, the mind is always where it needs to be. You know, just continue to practice training the brain, training the mind, continue to evolve.
1:31:55And, yeah, like I said, we went in with a game plan that we knew we had to execute as a collective, as a team, playing team defense. Whether it be our looks, whether it be, you know, again, hits on the quarterback, making plays on the football, making plays when they presented themselves. And, you know, playing at home always helps with the crowd noise. That might have been the loudest I've ever heard that plays. And, you know, I haven't played in a home game there since 2023. And, you know, you're in the huddle. You forget how loud it actually is. You know, TB screamed the play call. And, you know, that's just a shout-out to our fans.
1:32:29And, again, you know, we came in, we executed the game plan. And, you know, we had a lot of young guys, especially young guys, step up and play extremely well, like Max, like Cole. And Joey is just insane. Yeah.
1:32:43Pat McAfee:Yeah, it feels like watching him, He potentially is an absolute monster around there. Good to see him getting a chance to go on a run. And I talked about it there with you guys being 6-2, but literally everything's in front of you. And the narrative after you guys beat the Chiefs is like, well, the Bills always beat the Chiefs in a regular season, so who cares? You know, who cares or whatever. Huge win. Monster win. Fun to watch you guys play in all three phases. And on that note, you guys, very successful when you get a break. Go ahead, B.A. Yeah, Jordan, you guys have always done a great job after your bye week.
1:33:16I think Sean's got an unbelievable record. What is it about that bye week and what Sean does to get you guys on these hot runs every year? Yeah, you know, we have a really good coaching staff here who takes pride in making the adjustments. And, you know, that week isn't necessarily just a break off, right? You know, there's a lot of guys that stay here throughout the bye to continue to try to work on their bodies, to study the film, you know, with the coaches. And, you know, we even came back a day earlier, you know, tackling was a huge emphasis in the loss against Atlanta before the bye. So we came in, everybody had a report on Monday.
1:33:51We were in full pads on Monday and, you know, we were hitting. And so, you know, just, you know, understanding. And I think, you know, the bye happening when it was, being able to look back on some of the things that we did well and continue to do those and some of the things that we didn't do well and continue to work on those. and Sean being the defensive minded guy that he is we came back and we made those adjustments and again, I want to keep that momentum going we're playing really good team defense right now and that's what it's about and again, we got another great test this weekend down south in Miami against a hungry Miami football team, so we got to be ready to play, we got to prepare well like we have been and we're going to be excited for the opportunity
1:34:35Pat McAfee:Who knows what that Miami Dolphins team looks like after 4 p.m. today. Okay, there's been a lot of moves made. Have you been paying attention at all? Sauce Gardner is now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Okay, AFC on your fucking bumper, Jordan Boyer, out here in Indianapolis, okay? You need to know that. Okay, there's shit going on right now, Jordan. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's crazy. You know, I don't know who won that deal, but yeah, the AFC, the Colts, they look like a solid team, and yeah, we'll see how that plays out. Yes, we will, Jordan. And yes, we will. Okay, we got Dana Dimes, obviously.
1:35:09Pat McAfee:Phenomenal quarterback. You guys have the MVP. Go ahead, Ty.
1:35:12Darius Butler:Yeah, Jordan, Josh Allen was obviously unbelievable when you were in Buffalo. But what have you noticed about his player? I guess how much better do you think he has gotten since your short time away now being back in Buffalo? I mean, that's the MVP, man. I said it when I signed in Miami. You know, he's the best quarterback in the game. And that's for a reason. He just continues to build his level of awareness, his confidence. He knows he's great, and he knows the team feeds off of his energy, and he comes in every day with that right mindset. He's a quarterback that you want to play for. Somebody who's just nasty, savvy, can make every throw, can run everybody over.
1:35:57Again, just his confidence levels through the roof, and somebody that you just want to go to battle with every Sunday or every day of the week.
1:36:03Pat McAfee:nasty and savvy, great words to be described as. He's nasty and savvy. I mean, that is a bar there. I enjoy the thought of that. Hey, before we get any more football questions in, Connor wanted to bring it up, but he's going to ask you an actual football question, so I'll just address it here. Do you have a hand pan still? Are we still hand panning or no? Have we gotten better? I do. I'm on the rap drum now, which is similar to a hand pan, but I'll be bringing it on next time.
1:36:31Darius Butler:I'm a big fan of the rap drum.
1:36:32Pat McAfee:You're a fan of the rap drum?
1:36:33Darius Butler:The rap drum. Yeah, big time.
1:36:36Pat McAfee:So you play the rap drum. How do you – It's exactly like a hand pan, but the tones string out a little bit longer. It doesn't just hit the tone and stop. The tones string out a little bit longer. It makes the sound just a lot more soothing. Like rap drum. It's a lot more enjoyable. Max, what are you doing, Max? Okay, what are you doing, Max? We're talking about a rap drum. Drum. Okay. Have a little respect, dude. Oh, you're playing this? Is that you? Jordan, which one? You had to dress like that. That is not me.
1:37:10Darius Butler:Comes with the instrument. Yeah.
1:37:12Pat McAfee:I'll tell you what. Any Caucasian that's got dreads. Hey, any Caucasian that got dreads, you know that they've made some decisions. They've made some. It's going to be a good time. Yeah. Some deep decisions. Yes, they've made some decisions on how their life is going to go. You know, and I'm not saying they're not a good time. I've certainly been around a lot of them. Okay. I've been to an all good festival or two. You see a lot of that. But they've certainly decided that they are committing fully to the bit. We are.
1:37:36Darius Butler:Parents aren't too happy with those guys.
1:37:37Pat McAfee:Well, unless they come from parents of Caucasian dreadheads. True. And then their grandparents.
1:37:42Darius Butler:Carrying on a legacy.
1:37:43Pat McAfee:I do think there is legacy Caucasoid dreadheads. I do believe that is something that happens.
1:37:49Adam Schefter:They all play instruments.
1:37:50Pat McAfee:I think they all play this instrument. I think they all could. You put this instrument in their hands. I think every white that has dreads would be able to fucking slate it. Oh, yeah. Like Beethoven. If I had to guess, you see a white with dreads, you bring this one over, strap up. There's the show coming. They are very comfortable in that thing. I'm about to go to a portal. Yeah, you are about to go to a portal. Okay, let's talk about a portal of you being unk now. Go ahead, Con, man.
1:38:18Darius Butler:Yeah, Jordan, aside from the defense, do you feel yourself also mentoring the wide receivers and the tight ends just because you have such a wealth of information on NFL defenses that kind of sharing that with the offense helps with them as well? Yeah, I mean, I'm just trying to be an open book. You know, there's a lot of young players still, I mean, even on the practice squad, you know, that are, you know, ask questions here or there, you know, how does this leverage work here if I'm running this route? You know, what does it look like if I stem it like this? And, you know, even, you know, so I just really trying to be open book.
1:38:48I've seen a lot of football, you know, both offensively and defensively. And so, yeah, there's a lot of guys, a lot of guys that will come up to you and ask small questions here or there. And really, again, my role now, trying to be a mentor, trying to continue to guide these guys. But also, I'm starting now, so really preparing myself to continue to play at a high level and make sure we're solid on the back end and we're connected on the back end. So, yeah, man, it's an unk role for sure, but embracing it and enjoying it.
1:39:19Pat McAfee:Yeah, let's talk about the unk role here before we let you go. And obviously, we're very gracious for your time here. I think I saw 47 % of the snaps or something like that. How is that at this stage? Because I got a chance to watch Matt Hasselbeck. Matt Hasselbeck was starting quarterback, starting quarterback, starting quarterback, starting quarterback. We draft Andrew Luck. Matt Hasselbeck has to make the decision that he's going to come in and he's going to be the backup quarterback. Like that is a transition stage of a career. Now, he played valuable minutes for us. We needed Matt Hasselbeck.
1:39:47Pat McAfee:He was awesome. But mentally, it was a decision. You playing this year, I assume you knew what the deal was and obviously understand at this stage. You said you're going to be obviously getting more plays. You're back at starter. But that mindset of just being able to say, yeah, I'm cool with whatever after accomplishing so much and being all pro-po. How is that kind of mindset as you address it? Yeah, you know, initially coming in, I came in August 28th knowing I'm signing to the practice squad. And, yeah, you know, Micah had told me last year, you know, it was one of the most humbling experiences, right?
1:40:19Because you are the guy for so many years. And now all of a sudden, you know, you're you're on the scout team, you know, doing scout team defense shit. I was even doing scout team offense running routes at a couple of couple of weeks during during the season. And so to that point, yeah, it's very humbling. But, you know, I'm in a place in my life. You know, I've overcome a lot of different things in my life, had so many ups and downs. And to really just, again, be here to be able to kind of ride off in the sunset on my own terms with the organization that I care about. and that has essentially raised me in this NFL league and NFL world, to me it's the right way to go.
1:40:59Last year was a tough year all around, and kind of what the future looked like was very uncertain. And there was probably a good time, probably two or three months in the offseason, where I was retired and I was ready to hang up my cleats, and I was okay with that. And as I sat with it more and more and conversations started to come up more and more, The idea of, you know, possibly coming back to Buffalo, you know, on a call it Micah Hyde plan. You know, I started to be intrigued by that. Obviously, knowing that how I know I can impact the game a lot. Also, not just being on the field. Right. I've seen a lot of ball.
1:41:36You know, they got a lot of young guys here that, you know, I just am trying to help bring their game to the next level. Because when I was a young player in the league, I had guys like Tashaun Gibson, Dante Wittner, Jim Leonard. you kind of take me under their wing and showed me how to be the pro, showed me how to take care of my body, how to watch film. And so the Joe Haydens, you know, and I promised myself if I ever got to that age where, you know, people are calling me unk that this is my way of giving back to the game, giving back to the organization and, again, just staying ready for whatever, staying ready for whatever situation, whether it's starting, whatever that is.
1:42:09And so, you know, now here we are, you know, week nine, I'm back in the lineup and it feels good. My body feels good. Spirit feels good. and I'm excited for this run that we're on.
1:42:19Pat McAfee:You're still ridiculously handsome too, so congrats on that. My wife would appreciate that. Yeah, you will be aging differently than the dreaded white guys forever, and we understand that. But hey, congrats. We're happy to see you at this stage of life. Obviously, we've known you for a while now. We've seen you go through a bunch of different inspiring moments, a bunch of big-time moments, a bunch of tough moments. I mean, we feel like we followed along through our appreciation of you and your time for our show. So we're happy for you, man, that you're at peace. We hope you enjoy it all, and good luck to you the rest of the way.
1:42:54I appreciate y 'all. It's so good to see y 'all. Y 'all boys keep stepping, man. Love.
1:42:57Pat McAfee:All right, tell Max we want him on the show. Absolutely. Yeah, you tell him right now. Max, some point we need you on. Okay. Hey, Max, good to see you. Need you on the show at some point, dude. Need you to be. Will you come on sometime? Yeah, just let me know. All right, all right. We'll let you know. All right, we appreciate you. All right, Max and Jordan Poyer, we appreciate you guys. Yeah. Max popping his head in the middle of one of Jordan's answers and then dropping out. That's the energy we need. And also, you can see by their culture right there, the building. That's the Buffalo Bills as a whole right there.
1:43:25Darius Butler:Yeah, do you remember from the combine, the one guy that tapped every single player up who got drafted? That was him.
1:43:30Pat McAfee:Oh, yeah, he was the waiting. He was the guy waiting right there, and it was every single person.
1:43:35Darius Butler:Do you remember who represented him at that time? Who? We were talking to him before he ran. Sean Salado? No, I believe he's a money team guy.
1:43:43Pat McAfee:Oh, Eddie? That's right. Yeah, he was. Kentucky? Yeah. Okay. 4-2-8. Yes, I do remember. Yes. Okay. Hey, should have known that immediately. Oh, coming back. I was actually very worried yesterday whenever Clayton Kershaw FaceTimed us in. He brought his bowl of coop into the fold. Sure. I told Ty clearly before that show started, hey, Clayton Kershaw might bring some of the boys in. Going to need you to give me answers on who the hell they are. Okay? Because there's nothing worse than showing somebody. He could have shown. Clayton Kershaw could have shown somebody in there.
1:44:15Darius Butler:Miguel Rojas. Bingo.
1:44:16Pat McAfee:And it's like, I'm happy that Max didn't feel any disrespect there. I should have known immediately because of how big of fans we are of his. Makes a big play for them on Sunday, obviously, against Patrick Mahomes. But that is the vibes of the Bills as a whole. And Jordan Boyer talked about coming back being this unk role. It feels like that building likes who they are and what they are. And you've got to really put a focus on that if you want to build a good team. And the Bills have done that.
1:44:39Adam Schefter:You've got to have some good vets. and obviously you want to be a good vet and still be productive at the same time because it's hard for young guys to listen to a guy, even if they have played a long time in the league, if they're not still playing well. Now, is he going to be all pro-po? We'll see. But especially with all those moving parts that are back there, they do a lot of disguising on defense. And you know they're going to be in it with that team that they have around Josh Allen.
1:45:01Pat McAfee:Okay, we have big news tonight at 8 o 'clock. We'll get the college football playoffs official rankings. The College Football Playoff Committee went into a meeting last night as all the older whites put their hats down and said, let's go in there and do this thing. I am very excited that this is officially college football playoff season and we'll get the official rankings. That really means stuff. How many Big 12 schools have a chance? How many ACC teams have a chance? How many from the SEC? How many from the Big 10? Now, the AP has their own rankings, obviously, others do their own rankings.
1:45:39Pat McAfee:This is the only one that actually matters whenever it comes down to starting with 12 counting down to 1. Interesting social video to start this entire thing.
1:45:48Adam Schefter:Do you know who those
1:45:49Pat McAfee:people are?
1:45:50Adam Schefter:Individual names?
1:45:52Pat McAfee:They all look like the same person to me, but it is different minds. Mark D 'Antonio right there. That's all I do. A lot of people that have a lot of love and appreciation for college sports. Bald guy.
1:46:03Darius Butler:Greasy hair guy. Sweet lady. This guy.
1:46:08Pat McAfee:That guy. That guy. That guy. Larry Davis. This guy.
1:46:12Darius Butler:Other guy. Other guy. Another guy. Other guy.
1:46:16Pat McAfee:Yeah, Stanford Steve should be in there. We would appreciate if Stanford Steve was in there. We do appreciate that this video was the first one they chose to put out there. Like, hey, they're putting all the same hats down, and they're going in there to go to work. The college football playoff committee has put out another graphic. It's basically the schedule of all the games, and it's a lot. it's a lot but just know that this is around the corner ladies and gentlemen Friday December 19th is first playoff run December 20th playoff run let's go let's talk about this is right around the corner it is November 4th it is November 4th a month away okay so December 19th this entire thing starts and then obviously we have a run all the way up until February January 9th that's the national January 19th is the national championship sorry where is it at
1:47:06Adam Schefter:Atlanta yeah there it is yeah
1:47:08Pat McAfee:okay so that's oh those are okay so we're slot we're reading these slots we get a new song this year I hope not I hope not run it back
1:47:23Pat McAfee:we're mixing things up it's about time more schools get a shot to shine It's a lot more fun. Starting with 12, counting down to one. That's how we crown a CFP National Champion. And then it goes, That's how we crown a CFP National Champion. Yeah. Bia, you didn't know this one? No. Well, I'll tell you what. They're saying it because you're representing Virginia Tech and there was no conversation. That's true. Yeah, but on that note, hey, Virginia Tech's back in the college football news. A lot of jobs that are open, a lot of jobs potentially getting hired. He signed an NDA. He's a part of the group that is literally hiring the Virginia Tech people.
1:48:10Pat McAfee:And I don't want to put him on a spot right now to get his self in trouble, but Virginia Tech's cooking right now. Virginia Tech is cooking from what I've been told. Let's head over to Hammer. Don, Don. Tone, what are we expecting tonight from the CFP rankings? And what are you looking at as your projected playoff picture right now where we stand at November 4th.
1:48:31Darius Butler:Yeah, so this is mine right now. This is not how I think it's going to end at the end of the season. I think it's going to be how it's going to be tonight. Obviously, I think you have to go Ohio State at one, followed by Indiana, A &M, and Alabama as your top four teams getting the buys. That would be as tonight. I think that's going to change. I think eventually the SEC champion will be number two. I think the Big Ten champion will be number one, and then the losers of those games potentially being 3-4 after that. I do not think the Big Ten will get the number one and number two team after the championship games are concerned.
1:49:08Darius Butler:I could be wrong on that. Just thinking off the top of my head there. Then you have Oregon, Georgia, Ole Miss, and BYU currently as the host. Obviously, Texas Tech and BYU play this weekend, so that'll be a big one. I don't know if the Big 12 is going to get two teams. I would be shocked if the Big 12 gets two teams. So as we look at that right there, 8-9, if that's how it goes tonight, this weekend is a pseudo-playoff game, if you will.
1:49:37Pat McAfee:Hell yeah, we're going to be down there. You think this is what the CFP is going to put out tonight? This is you saying you think this is what they put out tonight. What they will also have is what, last in, first out as well on the left side. Who are some of the schools that are not on your CFP prediction here, which once again, Tone is trying to predict what he thinks they're going to put out tonight as their official playoff thing. Who are some of the schools that are left off that are not going to be happy about you or they do if you are accurate?
1:50:02Darius Butler:So let's start with the ACC. I do not think Virginia is going to be in the playoffs at the end of the season. Now they still have Duke. They have Virginia Tech for BA. I don't know. And you guys talked about it on college game day. I do think they're looking for a loss. That's kind of how they've been played lately. Memphis and Tulane play this weekend. So Tulane, if you're looking to be one of those teams to get in, whoever wins the American in that situation. But some of the other teams sitting right out. Texas, Texas is playing really, really good now. They have A &M still. They have Georgia now.
1:50:39Darius Butler:Guess what? If they win those games, Texas is going to be in. Louisville, I think, is very, very alive in the ACC. I still think Georgia Tech is very alive in the ACC after a tough loss this last weekend. Utah still alive in the Big 12 I think the ACC Big 12 still very very alive and then some of those teams at the bottom of the SEC as far as getting in for that How about Navy?
1:51:08Pat McAfee:How about the Power 5? Who's all in front of the Power 5?
1:51:10Darius Butler:So Navy had a tough loss against North Texas last weekend so I think Navy still has one loss they got a big one against Notre Dame Memphis, Tulane, North Texas JMU would be the one not an American to watch to maybe potentially get that 12 seed.
1:51:26Pat McAfee:All right. Well, good luck to you on your prediction of what their playoff prediction will be. We appreciate the hell out of you, AP, Tom. Not a bad little trade deadline day.
1:51:36Darius Butler:Not at all.
1:51:36Pat McAfee:Not bad at all. I mean, this has actually been a pretty fun little trade deadline day. Saturday, college game day. You know, when life throws you a situation, at some point you've got to be able to counter a little bit. I appreciate the opportunity that we had to broadcast Game Day on X. And obviously I saw a lot of reaction from people saying, hey, this is really cool of doing this. It wasn't just me that did it. Obviously me and Jimmy Pataro had the full conversation about this. Jimmy Pataro head of ESPN. And ultimately he said, yeah, I was going to do it just for the last hour, just so we're all a hundred percent clear.
1:52:20Pat McAfee:I have in my deal that I've negotiated, writes the clips. Everybody has to agree on that. So anytime you see me on anything, you will know that I have negotiated in, in my deal to do as such the ability to clip stuff and post it onto my social media platforms. Gumpy is the guy who actually rips stuff while I'm live and posts on the social media platforms. The cell is like, hey, want to let my people know that this is happening. But also, hey, this is a clip show if we let it be. And you don't really maybe understand that as much as we have this capability. So that's kind of the negotiation. So just putting the last hour, I could have made the argument.
1:52:59Pat McAfee:I thought that that was a clip. You know, just put the last hour out there. Push comes to shove, going to piss people off. But it is a clip of the show in there. You know, it is there. so I pitched the idea talked to Jimmy Jimmy was like run the whole thing this show is a unifier this show should be seen by people and because we have a business disagreement we should make it as easy as possible it was on the ESPN app in front of the paywall it was on X and on X we're getting numbers back from the X people this is people from X 1.18 million unique viewers just on X so it's like that's sick I'm happy as hell that we had the opportunity to do that and I'm very lucky to be a part of a show that obviously draws so much interest.
1:53:40Pat McAfee:We appreciate it. As we wrap up today on this glorious trade deadline day. Game day gigantic. College football huge. NFL alive. Let's make sure we get deals done so that we can all see all of it. Please. And trade deadline day, 4 o 'clock. Is your team getting better? Or is your team mailing it in? We shall see. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye. Okay, so crazy to have crazy to have that Monday night football game not easily accessible last night. This ain't going to last long, right? I hope not.
1:54:18Adam Schefter:Why wouldn't the deadline be like...
1:54:19Darius Butler:I'm starting to think it might. Yeah, me too. I didn't think there was any way that the Monday night football game would not be on YouTube TV. Thought Saturday would be enough. Yeah, exactly. Once you're past that, but now we have missed a full weekend of football. What makes them think, okay, now we really got to go? You know, it's like, it seems like both sides are pretty dug in. I hope I'm wrong, but that's the way it seems.
1:54:43Pat McAfee:The only reason why both sides would be dug in is because they feel as if it's for their survival. Right? Just from negotiation in the past. And I don't want to say I've been a part of any negotiation that's anywhere near as big as this one. Okay? This is a gigantic deal. There's a lot of money on the line here. Both sides, a lot of money. But it feels like there's a chance, especially with how long it is. I'm not in the middle of it. I'm not a part of it. I do not know where each side sits. But if whenever you're this dug in, it's strictly because you feel as if it is for survival. And a lot of people are going at both sides.
1:55:16Pat McAfee:And it's like both sides, I think, feel like, hey, this has to be the way this goes for us to survive. And both of them feel as if they have leverage. So anytime both sides feel like they have leverage and they feel like they have to, to survive, that's a tough deal to get done. That is a very tough deal. There's deal makers though, okay, that are out there in the world. and there's bad, there's good deal makers, bad deal makers. There's professional deal makers that get brought in. It's kind of, hey, let's set our swords aside. I wonder if we're going to get to that stage. I wonder how many people are like, hey, hey, hey, hey, we got to figure this out for the good of the people, for the good of the people, because we are those people.
1:55:52Pat McAfee:And we just want everybody to enjoy the hell out of sports as easy as possible. We need more sports, not less sports. And we need more people watching sports, not less people watching sports. So let's go ahead and get that deal done on both sides. on that note, B.A., you want to do a giveaway? Do you want to do some sort of challenge? Do you really? Yeah. What do you want to do, brother? I know you can't throw because the shoulder, elbow, arm. It doesn't go up. Yeah. Maybe cornhole. Oh, like that.
1:56:22Adam Schefter:That's good. Like that. Twist.
1:56:44Adam Schefter:How many feet is it? How many bases? 27. I forget. Come on. Nobody knows the Dems. I think it's 27. 27. It's a pro right there.
1:57:04Adam Schefter:National champion.
1:57:11Here you go, B.A.
1:57:13Adam Schefter:You got a bro official ACL distance. Form that thing up. Yep.
1:57:22Perfect.
1:57:30Pat McAfee:All right, I don't know. Let's talk about it. How big of a cornhole player are you, do you think? I've never played once in my life. Oh. What did he say? I've never played once in my life.
1:57:42Pat McAfee:Coach, do you want to throw four just to get a feel? All right, so why don't you throw four? Okay. Fuck you. You sandbagging, cornhole bagging son of a bitch. I mean, that's exactly how you want to spin that thing flat. Everything you just did right there is the right play. All right, second ever corn hole. Okay. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Makes more sense now.
1:58:10Adam Schefter:May have been a bit of a fluke. Beginner's luck.
1:58:13Pat McAfee:All right. Yeah. Here's your four now. You got to feel for it. You got to make one in the hole. Okay. Boom. You make one in the hole. 15. No, you just win. This son of a bitch. One in the hole. 20 people win$500. This man won 4 for 4 on putts. Okay, 0 for 1. He's got to go 1 for 3 here, and 20 people win. And that one was pushed past the hole, so that one never fall. All right, last shot. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. 25 people,$500. All B.A.'s got to do is put one cornhole bag into the cornhole. D. Butt, any motivation for our coach B.A. here as he tries to attempt the seemingly impossible.
1:58:55Adam Schefter:You know what? Your best toss was your first one. I don't think you even thought about it. Just let that bitch rip. Let it rip. Yeah, I got it.
1:59:04Pat McAfee:Oh! He walked it off. It was still a good day, B.A. It was still a good day, B.A. We appreciate the hell out of you, Coach B.A. Yes, you certainly were. All right, we will run. Great work, man. Great work. We'll run the rest of the Cam Little. We'll run the full Cam Little interview here as we wrap up on this glorious trade deadline day. And we'll be following Schefter's Twitter account. And it feels as if it happened. But Schefter says, wait a minute. My phones are still blowing up. Magic could still happen. Will it be the sizzle as we already got the steak? Or do we have a chance to have maybe one of the most historic trade deadline days in the history of the NFL?
1:59:47Pat McAfee:If anything happens while this Cam Little interview is happening, we will certainly come right on back. We appreciate the hell out of you all for allowing us to do this for a living. Coach B.A., thank you so much for traveling up here every week. We love your vibes. Live from Hammer, Don, Don, AP Tone, we appreciate you. Why don't you come on over here. Boys in the back, great work this week. Rushmore on X, most recent episode is Dynasties. Stephen A. Smith, Al Michaels, Ari and Ben traveled down a road of sports greatness, and it is fantastic. Fantastic. Available right now at Rushmore on X on X.
2:00:21Pat McAfee:There's clips, obviously, across all social media platforms, but the full episode is available only on X. It is fantastic. And anytime you get people talking about something that they love, especially in this particular case, the legends of the things talk about something that they love, the amount of information that just kind of falls out of their mouths into your ears is a magical thing. Rushmore on X has been special to be a part of. Ari and Ben should be very proud of the show they put together. and talk and Bailey and Foxy, the amount of work that's been put in the back end, Dirty with the graphics, D-bone with the graphics as well.
2:00:52Pat McAfee:I'm incredibly proud to be a part of it. Everybody's kicking ass. And on that note, be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me, B.A., anything for the squad? Great show. Better one next week? Hell yeah. Cam Little on the other side. Team on three. One, two, three. Team. Goodbye.
2:01:12Adam Schefter:Our roll battery's the same.
2:01:16Darius Butler:That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that?
2:01:25Adam Schefter:No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with Power Boost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different.
2:01:37Darius Butler:And Messi only trusts Duracell.

2:02:11Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, we have breaking news on this trade deadline day. The New York Jets have traded away another all-pro, pro bowler, Quinnen Williams, the absolutely, legendarily entertaining and beast of a defensive lineman, has been traded from the New York Jets to the Dallas Cowboys. First sauce Gardner comes to Indianapolis. Now Quinnen Williams goes to the Dallas Cowboys. And Jerry Jones said last night, I got a trade or two in my back pocket. I don't know if I want to pull him out. Logan Wilson gets traded from the Cincinnati Bengals, the middle linebacker, down to Dallas this morning.
2:02:47Pat McAfee:And now Quinnen Williams is on his way to the Big D and Jerry world. Quinnen Williams is a beast. Yeah. Quinnen Williams is a dog by all accounts. What did the Dallas Cowboys add, and why do you think they did it, D-Bone?
2:03:00Adam Schefter:Well, we know why they did it. We showed the numbers that they had earlier in the show with historically bad numbers on defense, and this is an absolute game record. You mentioned it earlier. Whenever you can get pressure or some game records up front with a four-man rush, that's going to help a defense tremendously. You added Logan Wilson on the second level, and now this is kind of an all-pro and legendary kind of game record up in the middle of that defense. So this is a big pickup for Jerry Jones.
2:03:26Pat McAfee:Joining us now, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter. Adam Schefter. I don't think today's – I think there's more to come, you said. I don't know if you knew it was going to be coming from the New York Jets. They're doing full rebuild right now? Is that what we're seeing in New York?
2:03:39Darius Butler:Yeah, I knew that one was coming. They've been working on Quinnen Williams all day. That was the one that the Dallas Cowboys were working. That's why when Sauce came down, I thought Quinnen was getting traded. And all of a sudden, it was Sauce, which was unexpected at that moment. And now they're trading Quinnen Williams. It'll be at least a first-round pick, at least a first-round pick. and we're waiting to see the exact compensation. I'm literally going to hear any moment now. So as soon as I get it, I'll let you know there, Pat.
2:04:09Pat McAfee:Okay, appreciate that. So the Jets obviously acquired two first-rounders from the Indianapolis Colts just about an hour or two ago. Now they're going to pick up another first-rounder, and you talked about them being in the quarterback market either this offseason or the next one. They're doing full rebuild over there. Did they expect maybe, let's see how the team goes? When do you think they decided that they were going to, you know, maybe completely move on from their young pillars and start anew in New York? Was that before the year started or as this year continued to roll on?
2:04:37Darius Butler:No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's not before the year because you're going through the year. You don't expect to be one in seven or whatever they are at this particular moment, but they are. They're in that spot right now. And so they just figured, okay, let's, let's, we might as well just start building this up and get, get this, get more picks.
2:04:57Pat McAfee:they're in the quarterback market now obviously okay so jerry obviously picked up a first rounder from the green bay packers with the trade of micah parsons and he chit-chatted about the number of picks that he had whenever he made that play what are we expecting this to be worth you said at least one first rounder the new york jets all of a sudden are about to become the bells of the ball come draft time around you know the entire nfl i'd assume yeah uh uh yep uh hold on a second
2:05:27Darius Butler:By the way, the Quinn and Williams trade is not done, but they're trying to get it finalized. They're trying to get it finalized.
2:05:36Pat McAfee:Oh, hold the phone. You know, we got to dot I's, cross T's. You know what the hardest touchdown to score is? What's that? Well, without the tush push, goal line. You know, those final inches, they're always the most difficult because we got everything else done. Are we going to let these things hold up the thing? Yeah, we actually will. We're watching that maybe with not being able to watch Monday Night Football. Now, in this trade, he's assuming it's going to get done. How long have they been working it, you've been talking about?
2:06:01Darius Butler:Quinn and Williams, this has been in the works. Well, it's been going on for a little while now, and there were multiple teams in on him. And, you know, the Jets, by the way, it's not done yet. It's not done. We're waiting. But I would think that both sides get this far along at 2-11 with the trade deadline coming up in one hour and 49 minutes. They'll figure out a way to get it done. but it's not done. They're trying to get it finalized.
2:06:29Pat McAfee:Okay, so trying to get it finalized, maybe money's a part of this entire thing. D-Bot has a question for you.
2:06:33Adam Schefter:Yeah, where is Quentin Williams at with his contract? I know he's signed a new deal, I think, two years ago, rookie extension. Where is he at with that?
2:06:39Darius Butler:I don't even know right now. I haven't checked on that, D-Bot. I would think he's good, but when you go to a new team, you're going to have some leverage because the team is going to be giving an awful lot to get you. So that'll be advantageous for Quentin Williams, but I don't even know how much time he's got left on his deal. I haven't looked yet.
2:06:54Pat McAfee:Okay, are you in a diner right now? What do you have going on right now? ESPN, I'm sitting here in a hall, just hanging out here,
2:07:02Darius Butler:waiting to do our trade special at 3 o 'clock, as more information is coming in here.
2:07:06Pat McAfee:All right, we appreciate the hell out of you, Schefter. Schefter says the deal's not done. Other insiders are reporting the deal is done. Have a little bit of a source off, but it sounds like Quentin Williams is headed to the Dallas Cowboys. I have to get it done, but they're still processing it right now. Still processing. Okay, thanks for having me. I'm Schefter. Jerry Jones knows that his defense just needs a little bit of assistance, makes play for Logan Wilson, now Quinnen Williams. What is this message from Jerry Jones, and how do you think the Dallas Cowboys react going forward? That's huge.
2:07:37I mean, Quinnen Williams is one of the best young defensive linemen in the league, and I don't know what the hell the Jets are doing.
2:07:42Pat McAfee:Yeah. Restart. They're accruing all the first rounds. That's cool. Who the hell are these guys they're getting? Quinnen Williams, they're going to be able to draft another one. Yeah. They just run off trees. Soft gardeners, they just run off trees. I got known players that are young and legit, and I'm giving them away for the unknown. How many? To me, it doesn't make any sense. No sense. Yeah, but whenever you traded that fourth rounder for Gronk, you could have got him. You know what I mean? That's different when talking about fourth rounders, brother. No, but first rounders, too. I feel this way, and I assume coaches feel this way as well.
2:08:19Pat McAfee:and I don't know why if that's why not as many ex-players are running teams or making decisions but it's like with the amount of guys that I've seen get drafted that were supposed to be really good come into our building and just be ass and it's like okay are we willing to roll the dice on a proven guy or this guy that has a lot of potential now there's been guys that have come in and been great I'm not saying that's not the case but if you look at the law of averages and percentages of people that hit and people that miss in the NFL draft it's like there's a lot more misses than there is hits.
2:08:48Pat McAfee:So you get a guy that's a hit. It's like we hit on a guy.
2:08:52Adam Schefter:Especially that organization.
2:08:54Pat McAfee:We hit on a guy and everybody loves him and he's funny. Yeah. He is incredibly entertaining. Ari Mirov at MySportsUpdate is reporting the expected trade is expected trade. We're not doing that. We're taking that down. We're not doing any expected trades here because did you expect Quentin Williams to be traded? Absolutely not.
2:09:11Darius Butler:Well with your point on the first round picks too, the last couple years in the draft process when we've talked to these people who are draft experts and put all this time in. They've basically said a lot of organizations only have 10 to 15 first-round grades on the players in the first round. So it's like if you look at yourself and see that you're going to be picking in the back half of the first round, is that really as valuable as it was 10 years ago pre-NIL when it's like, hey, guys are maybe staying in school longer and there aren't as many bona fide first-round picks in every draft?
2:09:43Pat McAfee:Jay Glazer back on the news. What's he say?
2:09:46Darius Butler:Teams are finalizing compensation, but as of now, Cowboys trading a second-round pick this year and a first-round pick next year for Pro Bowl D tackle Quinn and Williams. Scoop it!
2:09:57Pat McAfee:Thank you, Jay Glazer, for getting the bottom of it. I like that he kind of poked himself back out into the world. He said, you know what? It's a Tuesday. I might want to drop a little something on something. He still runs the tri-state area. If he wants to. Yeah. That's kind of the decision that Jay Glazer's got to make, especially now that he's married. Shout out to the Tennyson Twins as well. And we obviously love Jay Glazer on this particular program. Been around a long time. So a second-round pick and a first-round pick for Quinnen Williams, allegedly is what's being reported. Still figuring it out.
2:10:23Pat McAfee:What does that mean? What does that mean? What could that mean? They're still trying to figure it out. It's just dollars and cents and contracts. You know, it's lawyer talk now. Okay. And, you know, lawyer talk is tough to understand. That's why you need to get other lawyers. And your lawyers need to talk to their lawyers. And these things like to just talk amongst their own language. And then all of a sudden you're sitting there, Is this thing?
2:10:44Adam Schefter:Do we? Can we watch Monday Night Football?
2:10:47Pat McAfee:Can we please? Please, can we please watch Monday Night? Hopefully my lawyer is the number one pick. Yeah, you would certainly hope that. Yeah, you would certainly hope that. All right, Quentin Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts. A.D. Mitchell back to the New York Jets from the Indianapolis Colts during the Sauce Gardner trade. Logan Wilson goes to the Dallas Cowboys. Draymond Jones goes from the Titans to the Baltimore Ravens.
2:11:12Darius Butler:Jacoby Myers.
2:11:12Pat McAfee:Jacoby Myers, huge trade from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
2:11:18Darius Butler:Shahid to the Seahawks.
2:11:19Pat McAfee:Rashid Shahid from the Saints to the Seattle Seahawks. Is that everything?
2:11:23Darius Butler:I think so. Everything from today.
2:11:25Pat McAfee:All right, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, we had a chance to catch up with the guy who kicked the longest field goal in the history of the NFL this past weekend. We've tried to do this a couple times now. This man brings good news, big news, especially whenever he's on this show, Cam Little. Ladies and gentlemen, the man who holds the longest field goal in the history of the NFL. And it's not even his longest that he is kicked in an NFL-sanctioned game. Ladies and gentlemen, 68-yard bomber from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Woo Pig Sui. Ladies and gentlemen, Cam Little.
2:12:03Darius Butler:Pleasure to be on the show. I'm excited, man. I always wanted to be on the show.
2:12:11Pat McAfee:Peace! There it is, yeah. We always get it wrong. We try our best, Cam. Thank you for joining us. And you said you've always wanted to be on the show. I, since watching you kick a ball, I have always been very fascinated by how you create so much leg speed. So let's dive into this. I don't think you're the most jacked guy.
2:12:32Darius Butler:No, that's a very fair statement.
2:12:35Pat McAfee:Little's your last name. I don't think you're tiny, but you're certainly not one of these massive guys. Have you always had an incredibly strong leg? Like in soccer, whenever you were growing up, were you always the free kick taker, always had a strong leg? And how did you get to this point?
2:12:47Darius Butler:Yes, I think that's where I kind of first started. I was always good at taking free kicks and penalty kicks and all that stuff kind of tied into me learning how to kick a football. And obviously going to Coles camps growing up, I never really had the fastest leg. And I developed a little later in my high school career. when I was going to these camps, I saw guys that had faster legs than me. And I would always ask them, like, how are you guys getting your legs faster? Because at the end of the day, that's what gets you the most power on the ball. And so, you know, started developing a faster leg.
2:13:16Darius Butler:And now it's like my best trade as a kicker because, obviously, I'm a 6 '1", 175-pound guy that cannot squat a huge amount. So everyone always asks me, how do you kick the ball so far? I think ball contact and leg speed is the key to kicking the ball so far and high.
2:13:31Pat McAfee:Yeah, you're hitting the ball sweet. every time you're hitting that ball sweet, which is not easy. You know, Vinatieri, I was very lucky to work alongside. Obviously, everybody in the kicking world knows Adam Vinatieri. Vinny, whenever I got there, you know, I used to be a kicker in college, and I had a strong leg, but I had no idea where the ball was going. So his big thing was like, hey, you cannot sacrifice the sweet spot. So if you have to swing 85 % to hit the sweet spot, do that. If you have to swing 75 % to hit the sweet spot, to do that. Now, granted, if you can swing Hundo and hit the sweet spot, that is where the magic, that is where the magic comes.
2:14:03Pat McAfee:And that's where the Cam Littles of the world come in, I do believe. This generation of kickers bombing it further than ever. You hit a 70-yarder in preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everybody loses their mind. They're like, holy hell. And then, obviously, the conversations about Aubrey in Dallas.
2:14:34Darius Butler:Yeah, I mean, you kind of go out there and Logan, obviously, Logan and Ross both do a great job of prepping me for this stuff. Logan always thinks I hit the ball the best when I'm swinging the hardest. And so I told him right as I was going out there to spot it, I said, I'm swinging hard at this football. I'm making sure that I'm going to drill this thing. And so, you know, I spot the ball and I'm looking down at the spot and I tell him that, and he's like, hit that ball hard, boy. And hit it hard and obviously stayed left middle and just stuck dead straight down that left middle the whole time.
2:15:03Darius Butler:And, you know, you go out there and you prep so much from deep in practice and, you know, you're working with your op for fun back there at 60-plus sometimes. And then for it to finally come to fruition again was so cool.
2:15:14Pat McAfee:Yeah, and a real game, too.
2:15:29Darius Butler:Yeah, Cam, I don't know if you're watching the game at all or not, but when Aubrey goes back to 68, and we had mentioned it yesterday on the show where like, oh, 68, you know, this could get broken this season. Aubrey's going tonight, and then he steps back to 68. Is he one of the guys like when you go back and you're like, oh, no, like is he going to do it tonight? Is he going to top me tonight? Yeah, I actually wasn't watching the game, but I got a FaceTime call from someone in there like, dude, are you watching this game right now? And I was like, no, what's happening? He's like, Aubrey's about to attempt a 68.
2:15:59And I was like, yeah, he's going to hit.
2:16:02Darius Butler:One day? I get one day?
2:16:04Pat McAfee:That is funny. 63. 63 lived forever. Then 64. Then we get to 66. You hit 68. It almost only hit a 24-hour shelf life. That is a wild thing to think about.
2:16:15Darius Butler:Yeah, it's actually crazy to think about. And I was talking to the media the other day, and I was like, you know, this record's going to get broken this season. I want to live through this record. You know, obviously, selfishly, I want the record. But there's so many guys around the NFL that are so good at kicking footballs now. that I have a feeling it will get broken. You look at Brandon Aubrey, for instance. You look at Jake Bates, 64 twice last year in the UFL. He's hit 60-plus with the Lions. And so you look at guys that have that leg strength in it, it's honestly just impressive.
2:16:43Pat McAfee:I think everybody has the legs. Well, not everybody. I saw a couple people come up short, and then some people were getting the QB ball in there instead of the K ball. Let's talk about the balls a little bit. How does it feel going in? And I know you're just a young-ass kicker. You have no idea what it was like back in the day. Yeah, you don't know what it was like with the brand new balls coming in to the games. But this year, obviously, huge change is the K-ball. Everybody's talking about it. From your perspective, can you give your take on the K-ball being brought into the game as opposed to a brand new ball?
2:17:11Darius Butler:Yeah, I can. Thankfully, we have the best equipment staff. We have a guy that is so good at breaking in football. Like last year, you know, we would get him. Obviously, they rule change where you can get it through the week, and you can use it three weeks, and it's got to be out. but last year you had to break in obviously you know um 30 minutes before the game you got a guy in there breaking that thing in like it's it's yeah like literally sitting there sweating in drenching sweat trying to break in the football and so our guy did a really good job last year breaking the footballs in and so we had a good k-ball last year and i thought um you know going into this year it does give you that bit of edge of you can hit the ball just about three or four yards farther, I think, but I don't think it's enough to give guys, not give guys enough credit because I think guys are just, yes, the K ball is going to make you kick the ball farther, but I think guys in the NFL are just getting more talented.
2:18:04Darius Butler:I mean, you look, Brandon Aubrey, just we'll speak on him for a sec. He's had four 60 plus yarders, three 60 plus yarders this season or something like that. And so, and he was doing that last year too. He did 66 in preseason last year and that's with the old ball. So I think guys are just getting more talented and specialists from high school to college to the NFL are just getting that more talented. And I think that probably has more to do with it than the K-ball. That's my personal opinion, though.
2:18:29Pat McAfee:Now, I think you're accurate in saying that. Now, you said three to four more yards for the ball coming in. We talk about brand-new ball. It's like 15 yards. Brand-new ball out of the box, 15, 20 yards.
2:18:38Darius Butler:Brand-new ball out of the box is a lot different. Yeah, that's a nightmare.
2:18:41Pat McAfee:Mentally, too, though, I think going onto the field, knowing that the ball is a ball that you've kicked before, mentally, yeah, I think that probably helps. And I would like to say, as a – I'm 38 now. How old are you?
2:18:52Darius Butler:22. Jesus Christ.
2:18:54Pat McAfee:You're the youngest kicker ever drafted in the NFL, by the way. He was. Youngest guy ever drafted in the NFL. Absolute beast with that being said. Not easy to get drafted at the kicking position. But, like, I kicked a soccer ball like 124 miles an hour. Okay? I kicked, like, a 70-yard field goal when I was in high school. Okay? So I had a very strong leg. I think people would say, hey, this guy had a very strong leg. Now, did I know where it was headed? No. I mean, that thing was, you know, there's a good chance that thing was traveling. But nowadays, your guys' leg strength is just – I don't even think I'd be top 15, top 20 in the league right now.
2:19:26Pat McAfee:And you talk about how, like, the evolution, it all becomes from what? Perfecting technique throughout high school with Jamie Cole and the Cole brothers. Yeah. And then also exercising and everything. Do you think there's going to be a peak for this? Like, do you think you guys are going to continue to go? Because you're 22. You're only going to get stronger somehow if this really works out.
2:19:44Darius Butler:I think even from last season to this season, And I think my leg has just gotten that bit stronger. Like, yeah, I was hitting from 60 plus last year, but I think.
2:19:53Pat McAfee:70, that one would have been good from like 72 you hit there in Las Vegas, I think. That hit the net, bro. That hit the fucking net.
2:20:00Darius Butler:And so like you make that little jump and it was like, dude, I didn't think my leg could get stronger from last year, but it has. And like you said, guys are just going to keep setting the peak higher and higher. Eventually we're going to see someone hit a 75 yarder. so I think it's just evolving and I think it will just keep peaking until eventually it can't peak anymore when that will be we have no clue because there's going to be someone that's going to set it again
2:20:23Pat McAfee:feels like it's not within the next 10 years with your little ass also having a great team around you and coaching staff is a part of it go ahead Con man
2:20:32Darius Butler:yeah Cam how's your relationship with Liam Cohen we've kind of heard a few different coaches talk this past week Matt LaFleur says you know he doesn't speak to the kicker we saw Sean Payton, you know, bark at Will Lutz before his game winner. Hey, right through. What is your relationship with Liam Cohen? And did you get that shiner from the celebration after hitting that 68-yarder? I'll answer that question first. I got bit by a dog when I was five. I was eating a bologna sandwich and got bit by a dog. Jumped up, tried to get my bologna sandwich, but he didn't. He didn't get my bologna sandwich, bit me in the eye.
2:21:02Pat McAfee:Hell yeah, you finished that bologna sandwich.
2:21:05Darius Butler:Exactly, exactly right. Yes, you did, Art. No, but, man, Liam has been such a good just head coach to me. And I know sometimes you don't have the best relationship as far as head coach specialists. They kind of want to leave you alone and let you do your thing. But I think he instills a lot of confidence in me throughout the week, throughout prep, throughout pregame. And, you know, we have a very good relationship with each other. And, you know, throughout, you know, kind of prep this week, you know, during field goal period, he's out there. nice operation nice kicks you know nice punts logan so um that's something for me that is huge to hear out of my head coach because as a specialist unit we want to know that our head coach um is involved with us we want him to be um you know acting like it knowing it's a big deal um and so liam is a superstar about that and i can't um thank him enough as a head coach because he does care a lot about us as specialists and um that one-on-one relationship is is forever
2:22:01Pat McAfee:indebted yeah i'm happy you're an athlete you know some of these kickers you know you've been those kicking camps, not athletes. And that's like who these coaches, like, I'm not talking to the kicker, I'm not talking to the kicker. You're treating them as if they're not athletes. Like, hey, these guys are just coming out to do there. You can tell how much the coach respects the athleticism of the kicker with how they interact with each other. LaFleur saying I don't talk to kickers is like, okay.
2:22:23Darius Butler:He's a dickhead.
2:22:24Pat McAfee:Bingo. That's exactly how I would view that. Vinatieri, imagine LaFleur saying, I don't talk to Adam Vinatieri. Vinatieri, motherfucker, I don't talk to you either. Like, what are we even talking about? So I respect and appreciate that. And I don't know if you heard Liam Cohen say he felt like he won the Super Bowl after you hit that he said he said it felt like we won the Super Bowl after he hit that because the excitement now you guys had to go out in the second half and overtime and go win that game and you're able to do that but I love how much Liam has supported you and I like how many opportunities he's given you because of the amount of shit he's seen you do in practice on that note you made history brother it'll live on forever D-Bott has
2:22:57Adam Schefter:a question for you absolutely we had a chance to go down to Canton the Hall of Fame and they do a great job preserving different things from the game you said history you made history so have you put any thought about or do they just come in and take what they're going to put in the hall
2:23:11Darius Butler:of fame to be enshrined forever man i'm uh i'm definitely keeping the football that's 100 i'm still deciding if i'm going to give him my jersey or not but i think i might let it go and let can't have that one um let the jersey roll bro let the jersey roll canton dude the fact they'll put your
2:23:29Pat McAfee:ass. They'll have lights on. Oh, yeah. They'll have a picture of you.
2:23:32Adam Schefter:Do it right.
2:23:32Pat McAfee:Keep the ball
2:23:33Darius Butler:for sure. Have that. I still have the ball from the 70 as well. Actually, I was telling my coordinator, my ball, I haven't put it on a plaque yet. It's actually sitting in my pantry right next to some protein bars in my pantry. I haven't moved it yet. It's 22 years old. This guy's 22.
2:23:50Pat McAfee:This guy's got no idea about life, okay? We need to get those things in some frames. We need those things lit up with LED. We need them put on the wall because you're You're doing special stuff, brother, legitimately. Very special stuff. It's been an honor to kind of watch you go about doing your thing. 22-year-old. This guy has no idea about life at this point. Who cares? Ty has a question for you.
2:24:09Darius Butler:Yeah, Cam, speaking of all that, you being an athlete and the relationship you have with Coach Cohen, at this point, if you're going back to 70 people, you're kind of in that Aubrey territory. If you maybe talk to him a little bit like, hey, maybe we do like a fake field goal pass here. You give me the opportunity to throw a 70-yard touchdown, or maybe I just tuck and run, and I give a couple people a few shoulders to chew on, and maybe I get a 70-yard touchdown run. Is there any of that kind of stuff going on behind the scenes now? Man, I think there's a funny story. Actually, me and Logan, my holder in the punter, were talking about trying to, you know, what does a fake field goal look like?
2:24:48Darius Butler:And I was like, dude, do you think I could ever run a fake field goal? And he goes, if you ever had the ball in your hands, I would be extremely worried. One, because I think you would get broken in half, and two, you can't throw. So I think we might stay away from the fake field goals. Logan's a beast, though. Logan is a beast. He's an athlete. You talk about a guy that's an athlete, man. That guy, talk about his punting. That dude is unbelievable. I know we're talking about fake field goals. That guy is unbelievable at punting the football and throwing the football. So to have a guy like that in my room that's leading me and to have a guy like Ross snapping it, two-time all-pro snapper and an all-pro punter last year, both pro bowlers, they set me up for success.
2:25:26Darius Butler:and those guys are elite at what they do. So it makes my job a lot easier.
2:25:29Pat McAfee:That's a good place to be when you've got a snapper and a holder that they're all pro alongside of you, and then you've got a kicker that can hit from 68 and 70. Liam Cohen's living a good life whenever it comes to special teams. Please tell Logan Cook we're massive fans. That big country fucking bomb balls, dude. He can, man. He is unbelievable. I'll tell you what, Jacksonville's not a bad place to call home either. I know you guys. No, uh-uh. A lot of fun. Yeah, you're 22, all right? Enjoy your life. All right, ladies and gentlemen, kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars. record setter, history maker.
2:25:58Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, Cam Little. Good energy in.
2:26:06Adam Schefter:Good energy out.
2:26:10Darius Butler:Storm, zero sugar, 200 milligrams of caffeine and immunity support. Storm, energy for life.
