Key claims / arguments
- Rams are “Rams league”: Matthew Stafford is playing at an elite level; Sean McVay’s offense is producing record-level production from Devontae Adams (including passing Jimmy Graham for most 1-yard TDs) and Puka Nakua’s constant impact.
- Rams defense is championship-level: Chris Shula’s unit is described as dominant, with Emmanuel Forbes Jr. highlighted for elite coverage (7 targets, 0 catches vs the Buccaneers).
- Bears are real: Caleb Williams is buying into Ben Johnson’s play-action system (turning his back to sell the fake), and Chicago’s close-game performance improved via turnover margin (plus 12 in games decided by 5 or fewer).
- Cowboys/Eagles: Philadelphia dominated “Eagles night” with Jalen Hurts scoring and Dak Prescott/George Pickens swinging momentum late (21-14 in the fourth is cited).
Notable examples
- Monday night preview: Panthers’ Rico Daudo vs Brock Purdy/49ers offense described as “bullet train/hypersonic.”
- Special teams: Elijah Clark punt-coverage effort on a fumble recovery/turnaround play is called a “highlight of all highlights.”
- Long-range kicks: Evan McPherson 63-yard; Will Reichard multiple 59+ kicks including one at Lambeau.
- Bears close games: 2024 was 1-6 in 5-or-less games; 2025 is 6-1 with plus-12 turnover margin.

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Pat McAfee:Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble and bold, the Thunderdome, on this massive overreaction Monday, November 24, 2025. This sports program begins now. Football is magical and the Week 12 NFL Sunday slate delivered in a huge way. Not only do we have multiple overtime games now, my team suffered in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs, and we are certainly going to have to talk about that because, lo and behold, maybe the Chiefs is still the Chiefs. That might be one of the top five headlines we roll into, but there's multiple overtimes. There's a huge comeback in a star-studded game, and then last night we got a chance to watch a goat do a goat thing and absolutely demolish somebody.
0:44Pat McAfee:Now tonight, Carolina Panthers travel all the way out to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in Santa Clara, California. Sorry, not San Francisco. Seven-and-a-half points spread. The Carolina Panthers with Rico Daudo, who's been one of the special stories of this NFL season. Who is this guy? Where did he come from? Well, he's actually a machine. He's traveling to take on the Niners. The Niners look at Brock's back. That offense is a wagon. Actually, it's evolved since the old gold mining 49er days. It's not a wagon. This thing is a train. No, it's a bullet train. No, this thing is a hypersonic plane to London, which is going to transform the way the entire world operates.
1:26Pat McAfee:That is what the Niners' offense looks like whenever Brock Purdy's back in control, which he is. Tonight, we wrap up Week 12 in a huge way. The Toxic Table's here at Boston Corner, at Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer died. Cowboys AP Tone is here. Tone, obviously a lot of things happened around the NFL yesterday. How did the public fare? Did we finally start beating the sportsbooks or what?
1:47Darius Butler:I wish I could tell you yes. That is not the case. I went through it this morning. Teams that were getting 60 % or more of the bets yesterday were 2-7-1 against the spread. So, no. No, we have. We stink. We stink again. Okay, so maybe we're not seeing the board.
2:07Pat McAfee:Maybe the more we see, the less we know. Some more. What do you mean by that?
2:11Darius Butler:Like, I assume there's some people that had really good picks this week, but as a majority, no.
2:16Pat McAfee:Yeah, well, A.J. Hawk actually had an incredible weekend. We'll see if that continues this evening. I think you got nine right. Yeah, he went 9-3-1. I went 6-6-1. That's pretty good, too. Yeah, I feel good about where I'm at, actually. As I was reading the graphic here to see how I did, because me and AJ both forget exactly who we're where. And there's other bets being made, obviously, throughout the weekend. So 6-6-1, I was like, oh, Ben, I go over to AJ. I'm like, AJ! AJ is seeing it right now. 9-3-1. Now, is it a feeling? Is it a lurking feeling? What are we reading? What are we not? We shall dive into it all.
2:46Pat McAfee:Nine-year NFL vet who looks incredibly cool, Darius J. Butler. Hey! D-Butch, what's your big takeaway from the weekend, do you think? Good football back, meaningful football back.
2:55Adam Schefter:A lot of good football, a lot of records been broken, a lot of close games, so I guess that's my big takeaway so far in the week 12.
3:02Pat McAfee:Well, it's meaningful football now, too.
3:03Adam Schefter:Very meaningful. Every loss can change a career. Every win can save a season.
3:13Pat McAfee:It's meaningful football time. Truly. And that means we, here, need to do a sale for that. Okay. Breaking news. At store.patmagfusshow.com, there's currently a meaningful football sale. 25 % off everything because it is that time of year. Yes, we will celebrate Thanksgiving, and I hope you have a fantastic Black Friday, and I hope Christmas is magical, and I hope your new year is great. But for us right now, it's big because it's meaningful football everywhere. College football has its rivalry weekend coming up. Hello, big-time meaningful football on Friday and Saturday, alongside the NFL slate on Thursday, which has every team playoff implications on.
3:54Pat McAfee:It's meaningful football. We're excited to be here. 25 % off the whole store if you want to support the place, want to rock the place, rep the place. And if you don't, we completely understand. Who knows when you'll get this stuff. I think it'll be quick. We've got to have a different crew on the back end. Okay. Yeah, different crew on the back end this time. CFO Phil, these folks put together. They're ready for the excitement if you are as well. Store.padmagavishow.com. We appreciate the hell out of you. Now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to dive into the top five headlines coming out of week 12 of the NFL Sunday slate.
4:23Pat McAfee:We said we want to do something each week that maybe has a little bit of reason, a little bit of rhyme, a little bit of structure. What are they doing? Football games with that? Oh, that's called the first 15. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our first 15 driven by Ram Truck. Whenever you hit the gas, that thing sounds like... Obviously incredibly smooth, powerful and durable, but it's also perfect for the first 15 because that's what we're trying to be. Put the clock, please, in the lower left corner. Bang. Let's get started. Top five headlines coming out of week 12 Sunday slate. Number five, who's league?
5:00Pat McAfee:It's looking like Rams league. Heard that a lot last night. Whose house? Rams house. Whose house? Rams house. Felt loud. Felt like the Rams faithful have kindly, I don't want to say finally, but the Rams faithful have taken over that entire building. Now, whenever they go out to Los Angeles, you have no idea what's going to happen. How's this going to go? Is the franchise going to be able to be exciting enough and electrifying enough to steal the attention of the people that live in L.A.? And with the Rams, are they going to be good enough? Then they win the Super Bowl in SoFi, in their own stadium, in their own city.
5:28Pat McAfee:And then they go all in, basically, for that team. They send a bunch of draft picks out there. You know, GM actually quoted saying, fuck them picks. You know, that's kind of everywhere. We need to win right now in a brand new city. And somehow from that era to what they're doing right now, they've been able to continue to turn over the dominance. They got a young defense that's everywhere. And they got a quarterback who was drafted in the same class as me and D-Butt. Yeah. He was pick number one. I was pick 222. He was pick number one. Darius J. Butler was pick. 41. Oh, D-Butt. D-Butt. That's old CBA for Matthew Stafford and for Darius J.
6:03Pat McAfee:Butler. But what this guy's doing this year is outrageous. He's the MVP odds-on favorite. And every time he's on primetime, he's doing the shit that he's doing, especially with Devontae, which D-Butt's going to get into here in a matter of moments. But every time he gets out on TV and showcases what he's able to do at this current stage of his career with dudes like Puka Nakua, who Devontae Adams said, he's like, this is the greatest vibe of all time. Puka Nakua, always positive, always energetic, also impossible to tackle and incredibly tough. Kind of sets a tone for everybody in the building.
6:29Pat McAfee:And, oh, yeah, you've got an OG. Devontae Adams in that building. And, oh, yeah, Matthew Stafford's playing better football than he's ever played. Devontae Adams just passed Jimmy Graham for the most one-yard touchdowns in the history of the NFL. Congratulations, Devontae. Let's go. Is that real? Congrats. 15 of them. You know, Jerome Bettis is on that list. You know, Jerome Bettis had that run with the Pittsburgh Steelers where basically they would walk it all the way down the field and get to the one. Instead of the tush-push, it was the bus hush. You know, he just kind of ran it in for a touchdown.
6:57Pat McAfee:I think it was Fast Willie. Parker. Parker got all the yards and had, like, no touchdowns. Why don't you have any touchdowns? Well, anytime we get inside five.
7:05Darius Butler:That's Bussie's territory.
7:06Pat McAfee:Yeah, he had, like, three touchdowns, two yards in a couple different games. You're talking about one-yard touchdowns. Gronk had this situation. Obviously, whenever they were down on the goal line with Tom Brady, they would just flank Gronk out there one-on-one. And if you sent one person out there, okay, well, that's a two-way go for Gronk right now. If you send two people out there, what happens to the box? Well, obviously, we're able to hammer it. It's an unstoppable offensive weapon if you have it. Devontae's get-off, they say, he's better than anybody. So not only do you have the best get-off, you also have a quarterback that never misses.
7:34Pat McAfee:This dude never misses. And then on the defensive side, they're only giving up 16.3 points a game or something like that. That's the fewest in the NFL. This is the first time ever the odds-on favorite of the MVP has had a defense this dominant, ever. So whenever you talk about whose league, it's starting to feel like we might be talking about the Rams league.
7:54Adam Schefter:Is that how you're seeing it, D-Buck? Absolutely. You talk about it offensively. It always starts with the quarterback. A lot of questions about Matt and his health coming into this season. So for him to be playing like this now is unbelievable. And then everyone around him, obviously we know his head coach, the play caller, Sean McVay, he's great. They got a good running game. The O-line has been keeping them clean. Whenever you have a quarterback, you know, that's up in age. We mentioned being drafted in the O-9. You want to keep them clean. You want to keep them upright. And they've been doing a great job of that.
8:20Adam Schefter:And it's Devontae Adams. Once you get into that area, like his release game, even out here, like his release game off the ball, I mean, Chad Ochocinco, Stevie Johnson, and Devontae Adams. Devontae Adams will be at the top of that list. Like he's so smooth out in the field. when you get into that area, low red area, slants, phase, all of it. And then Puka, he's everywhere. He does everything. It's unbelievable.
8:42Pat McAfee:Do you think because Sean McVay was a wide receiver, he has seen himself and he said, if I had Devontae's release, I would just, on the goal line, we just flank him out there. You got Puka on the other side. You got Parkinson. You got all these other weapons that obviously the Rams have in abundance. But if they one-on-one out here, Sean McVay's thinking in his head, if I had Devontae's release, that's a two-way. Do you think that is an advantage for wide receiver relationships when the head coach play caller is a wide receiver?
9:06Adam Schefter:I think that always helps. He's always going to get the most out of his weapons. Even when Odell Beckham came over that year that you mentioned and they went and won the Super Bowl, he would just isolate Beckham on that side of the field. That was while Cooper Cupp was winning the triple crown, but he would get the best out of both guys and putting them in their situation to be productive. On the opposite side of Devontae is Puka. Puka is moving everywhere. He dominates in the interior of the field. He'll insert through a B or C gap and run a route down the field. He's tough. He came on the show and said, hey, look, I'll never be the guy that's been run out of bounds or turned down contact.
9:40Adam Schefter:You talk about his vibes on and off the field. But you put the ball in number 12's hands, he's going to make something special happen damn near every time. And then defensively, you mentioned it. Rarely do we see an offense like this paired up with the championship-level defense. But Chris Shuler has the boys rolling. The front four is the best in the league, in my opinion. And then guys on the back end really making a name for themselves this year. Kitchens, who had two picks last week. Kobe Durant had a pick last week. Now he has a pick six this week. And Emmanuel Forbes Jr., I think he was targeted seven times and didn't give up a catch, which he was a washout in the commanders.
10:13Adam Schefter:What happened to him?
10:14Pat McAfee:He's super skinny, right? Yeah.
10:17Adam Schefter:He's still a slim guy, and I don't think he'll always be a slim guy. But the reason you rarely see a guy that small get drafted in the first round, the reason he did was because of his skill set and how dominant he was at Mississippi State. And now you just see confidence. Confidence is everything at any position. When you're a quarterback in life, when you have that confidence, you're in the system, you have a coach that believes in you, you have players around you that are great. This is what you see when you go to a new place. And we always say, hey, maybe these guys need a fresh start. That's a great example of this right here.
10:45Pat McAfee:To your point, D-Butt, it's from NextGenStats. Emmanuel Forbes faced seven targets and did not allow a single reception against the Buccaneers. And remember, this Buccaneers offense, really good. What's going on? So it seemed early he was reaching. Yeah, it looks bad. He was reaching for his arm. But they let him play. So it felt like it was happening early. If he had broken anything up there, like collarbone, I don't know if they let him play. I don't want to diagnose anything. But it feels like something with the AC joint. I'm not 100 % sure just the way he was reaching for it. Incredibly painful.
11:17Pat McAfee:I mean, like one of the most painful things.
11:18Adam Schefter:How many times has he sat before this? Like he was under duress. We saw him prime time when Josh Allen was running for his life against that Houston Texans defense. It kind of seemed very similar against this Rams front. So whatever he came into the season dealing with, it definitely didn't help facing a – what would they call him? James. James. What an incredible – I mean, that was good.
11:40Pat McAfee:That was really good. I appreciate that. But, like, what we're trying to say is he was reaching immediately to here. It feels like that's probably a very real thing he was playing through last night. So, obviously, is Baker playing his best football? Is the offense playing their best football? Is anybody going to be able to play their best football against this Rams defense? I think that is the big question. And Shula was getting a lot of face time last night, Chris Shula, as he should because of how dominant they were. This Buccaneers offense is good. This is a very good Buccaneers offense that they did that to.
12:07We're like four weeks removed from basically saying Tampa Bay was going to the Super Bowl. I mean, they had everything in the Bucs. Sorry, the Rams made them look basically incompetent on offense. And you're talking about Godwin was back. They weren't as hurt. One thing, and I'm hoping this doesn't happen just because I would like my team to have a chance to win the Super Bowl. Aaron Donald needs to come back and just play 10 snaps a game with this D-line. And I don't care if he is even just on the sideline in patch, just hyping the guys up, kind of telling them, hey, that's a great dance move.
12:37Maybe you can do this to make it a little better. But he was on game day last week, two weeks ago, whatever. And he looks just as jacked as he did when he was playing. Now he probably needs a little time to get into game shape, maybe even put on a couple pounds. I don't think so. He might be able to play middle linebacker. That's right.
12:53Pat McAfee:Just like J.J. Yes. Like J.J. Watt, we kind of experienced his first year of retirement with him, if you do recall, weekly we were joining him. And that dude just didn't understand, like, hey, you're not still in the NFL. He was still getting under the squat rack every single morning, running sprints. You remember he was running sprints and doing cardio and everything? And I don't know if Aaron Donald's doing all of that stuff. I'd assume yes to them. Yeah. I would assume that he would be doing those things. And then we saw him at Pitt. I mean, it got through me with a pinky. Yeah. The guy threw me with the tank.
13:23Pat McAfee:Still got those. He trained with knives. And whenever you talk about that front, you drop Aaron Donald in it. And once again, we have no inside information on whether or not Aaron Donald wants to go back. Aaron Donald's enjoying the hell out of his life, I think. And he's earned it. And he goes, 10 years, eight all pros, 10 Pro Bowls, won a Super Bowl, three defensive MVPs. I feel like I had a pretty good career. You certainly did, Aaron. You certainly did. You worked your ass off for all those things. But he was in the building last night. Yep. And I'm assuming he gets excited watching the way that defense plays.
13:53Adam Schefter:Yeah, I think he can get out there and play right now if he wanted to. I'm not sure if you guys heard them talking about it. They've said it a few times with Jerry Verse when he went and worked out with them. He was like, you know what, Aaron? Don't call me. I'll call you. He said it was the hardest shit he ever experienced. And that's him post-NFL career. So I'm sure 9-9 can still get in there and dominate.
14:11Pat McAfee:Congrats on the Rams fans. Yeah. It's a good life right now. Right now it's very good. And how long is Matthew Stafford going to play? especially if he's hopping into that tube of live foreverness. Yeah, the immortal chamber. Yeah, what was that thing called? Immortal cryo chamber of life. It's a mortal instead of immoral, so I don't know what the difference is. Well.

14:32Darius Butler:Because he's an alpha.
14:35Pat McAfee:It's amoral, maybe. Maybe it's a hard A on that. Yeah. Whatever the case, he looks good. They also have the number 11 pick still. Who was calling the game? There it is. Amoral. Amoral. and moral, advertised itself as a wellness device that aims to optimize human performance and promote holistic health through a combination of non-invasive technologies. It worked. Yeah, it did. This guy's fucking unbelievable. Yeah, it did. We saw him walk into this thing, then we saw him walk out of that thing, and now we're getting the season we're getting right now. Thank you.
15:07Darius Butler:That's a good question.
15:08Pat McAfee:Don't do this. We talked to him about this, didn't we? Yeah, we did.
15:11Darius Butler:We talked to someone about it.
15:11Pat McAfee:He said, McClellan's doing pretty good this year, and it's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Mr. White Teeth right there. Yeah. McClellan would say that. I admit that. He looks good, too. Oh, yeah. Great. Looks young. Even with the beard. And he's the arms. He's not getting hit, either.
15:25Darius Butler:He could play another five, seven years. It's like the body that's playing out there has actually never been hit before this year.
15:31Pat McAfee:I mean, doesn't he? He is a little too spry. The touchdown to Parkinson, obviously, every week.
15:36Darius Butler:I also never saw those calves until this year, either.
15:39Pat McAfee:Well, he was hiding them, maybe, because he's a humble man. Did he get new legs? Well, it does appear maybe from knees down, because those calves. But once again, we don't really know because we've never really heard from him other than mic'd up situations with NFL films when he was in Detroit just getting murdered and then throwing awesome passes.
15:56Adam Schefter:Detroit was so stinky.
15:58Pat McAfee:So stinky. So stinky. But they had Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford, so you were kind of forced to pay attention to them. You know, like we were all forced to pay attention to that team because they were doing records. I mean, Devontae's on a record-breaking pace right now. Already did last night. jumped to top 10, top 9, top 8, whatever the number is in touchdowns. Congratulations.
16:18Adam Schefter:Already only has one less touchdown as a rim. One behind Puka. Puka has 13. He has 12.
16:24Pat McAfee:Yeah, it's been a hell of a year. That's nuts. And I'll tell you what, whenever you find the cheat code on goal line offense and you don't need everybody on your team to get accordioned, you know, like the tush push does, that's a really nice thing. The offensive line loves that Devontae Adams has a one-on-one on the outside. You know who else loves that? Running back, too. Running back may want the touchdown. Everybody else loves it that it's happening out there. And all Matthew Stafford has to do is what? Just the thing that he's the best in the world at? Just put it into a bucket? Okay. No problem.
16:56Pat McAfee:And Devontae's like, wait till you guys see the shit I worked on in the summer. It's actually a triple fucking. He's just crossing dudes up. So what's the hardest? You don't know where he's going? Because he doesn't use his hands either. Yeah, they're just down. His hands are like down. It's like very interesting. What is the hardest part about his game? Everybody talks about his get-off, his get-off, his get-off. To me, it looks like he just shakes the shit out of somebody.
17:16Adam Schefter:Honestly, on that one, that was inexcusable by McCollum because you have help inside there at Winfield, and he's so close. And he had outside leverage. Yeah, I'm sure they go at this point like, hey, we're talking about it. 17, we're down here. You got to guard half a man. It's like Dez Bryant used to be automatic down there at Romo when they got there. He was going to throw the back shoulder fade regardless of what was happening. But if you're a corner, you got to be able to guard half a man at least. So you take away half. But if you're one-on-one just on an island and he has a two-way goal on you, you want to initially take away leverage.
17:46Adam Schefter:But a veteran like him, even if he sees inside leverage, he'll probably set you up and still try to take it away. So when you have that two-way goal and you've done it as much as he has done it and then you have a quarterback that can actually be on the same page and hit you, it's damn near unstoppable.
18:00Pat McAfee:Yeah, because Stafford's not missing.
18:01Adam Schefter:Exactly.
18:02Pat McAfee:Like we'll see sometimes those opportunities where a ball will be a little too far or land out of bounds, be a little short, will get batted off to somebody's back or something like that. I think there was a situation last night with Dak and CD, obviously. We'll talk about that here in a matter of moments, about where CD thought the ball was going versus where it actually went. Now, granted, it went right through his arms, but he thought it was going back corner. It's like Stafford seemingly always puts it right to the place that everybody wants.
18:24Adam Schefter:Exactly.
18:24Pat McAfee:That's why when you're talking about ball spinners, bro, got it. Absolutely got it. Could do it forever. Let's go to the top four headline now. We're talking about the bare necessities. He's the stinking bear necessity. Hey, the Bears, the Kings of the North. This is real. Big guy. Hey, just a tough team coming in. Mm-hmm. Well. Pittsburgh Steelers. When Mason Rudolph, who by Steelers fans own emissions, was fresh off a hot fourth quarter with this Steelers team, maybe the guy who needs to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to the promised land they were hoping to go to this season because Aaron Rodgers fractured his left wrist.
19:03Pat McAfee:Now, the story going in was, is Aaron Rodgers going to play against a team that he's the landlord of? Is Aaron Rodgers going to play against Chicago Bears? Maybe one final time in Chicago. He's got a fracture on his left wrist. Okay, he obviously throws right-handed. He was trying to get in the game last week. He was allegedly trying to play this week for a number of reasons, not only because he's super competitive and he loves his Pittsburgh Steelers team, but also because he will do one more. One more and he's on Chicago. We found out that he was a fan of the Chicago sports team because he watched WB growing up.
19:32Pat McAfee:It was one of his six channels. So he saw the Bulls, and he wasn't a fan of the Bulls, especially if a Michael Jordan fan like I was. He loved the Cubs, and he loved playing against Chicago, obviously, with the Packers because it's a rivalry that he held in high regards. So we thought Aaron Rodgers was going to air. It wasn't Aaron Rodgers. It was Mason Rudolph. And guess what? It didn't matter because what this Chicago Bears team is, real. Now, let me talk to you about what I like about Caleb Williams. Ben Johnson, what he was able to do at the Detroit Lions with Jared Goff, he turned Jared Goff, who is a robot, into a very, very, very, very, very efficient robot.
20:02Pat McAfee:Hey, this is what we need to do. These exact steps, this exact play fake. The ball needs to be at this exact pinpoint. So we wondered, is Caleb Williams ever going to be able to buy into the Ben Johnson system? Well, for all that to happen, you need a lot of things. Need a great offensive line. They invest in the offensive line. Oh, yeah. Need a great run game. Okay, need a great run game. Okay, we're going to have a run game. This is if you look at what the Detroit Lions had with Ben Johnson. Best offensive line, need a great run game. Then what do you need a quarterback that's able to do? Well, he needs to be able to hand that ball off to the running back, and then he needs to be able to play action the shit out of that defense.
20:34Pat McAfee:because if you have a good play action and you have your back to the defense, back to the defense like this. Caleb Williams spent his entire life shotgun looking at everybody. Hey, Caleb Williams, you're the best athlete on the field. You need to have eyes on everybody. And if something doesn't work, make it work. That's what you need to do. Now they're asking, Caleb, for the success of this offense, for this offense to be as good. You have to take the ball, commit completely, turn your back to the defense. T.J. Watt's on that defense. Turn your back completely to the defense. sell this thing so that the linebackers can't move okay these linebackers can't move they can't do anything they have no idea and then back as soon as you turn you need to know that the ball is going to go right to there right to the seam that's where it needs to go we don't need you thinking okay we just need you to turn your back don't be scared of getting hit in the face could happen and as soon as you turn around you need to just spin that thing you will catch the defense in a land that they don't want to be in you will have wide open guys everywhere and i'll tell you what yesterday against this pittsburgh steelers defense wide open guys everywhere the rhythm the The timing, the execution of an offense by Caleb Williams was very much on display.
21:34Pat McAfee:50 couldn't do shit right there. 50 couldn't do a damn thing right there because he had no idea what Caleb was going to do. Back to the defense. Turns around. Boom. On a button. See you later. He has to know what the defense is doing pre-snap. So Caleb has to know what the defense is kind of doing pre-snap. Because now he has to decide where he's going once he turns his back back around. But he's making the right decisions. He's committed completely to the play action. And their team's built to have success. And then on defense's side, they just get turnovers everywhere. They get turnovers everywhere.
22:01Pat McAfee:Now, there's a couple stats that Hembo sent over to me about this Chicago Bears team. Last year in games that were decided by five points or less, 2024, they were one and six. This year they're six and one. In those games, Chicago has a plus 12 turnover margin in those games. So whenever you talk about not only are they winning the close games because they're seemingly a culture, a moxie, an aura, good, better, best, never let rest, the good is better and better is best. They have that defense getting the ball back for an offense that is going to become much, much better. This is the first step.
22:34Pat McAfee:Now, I guess this would be the second step. First step was like buying into the offense being good by Caleb. Second step, starting to understand pre-snap what the defense is doing, fully committing to play action. There's so much more if you remember what Ben Johnson and Jared Goff were able to do in Detroit. This is the fundamental basis of this offense, is being able to do this off of play action. then all the other shit comes in so whenever you talk about up and to the right it's like Caleb and Ben Johnson if they were able to work we're going to be maybe unstoppable seems like they're getting to the point where they are going to work where we can confidently say that it's just how quickly do they become that absolute juggernaut that Detroit was it might be soon
23:14Adam Schefter:it is fun to watch what they're doing yeah I think they're just uh scratching the surface they're only 11 games in and you're sitting at eight and three I don't think many people expected this and Caleb Williams he like when it's a high leverage situation I feel like that's when he's playing his best ball and that's that's really you rarely hear that for a young quarterback like him so I think they're just scratching the surface with his offense and yeah it is a belief and a trust in something that you really haven't done your whole life I would assume he ran a similar offense in high school in the gun up tempo went to college moved around the colleges but did similar things so to get to the National Football League and now you're in the huddle you got to command the huddle you got to call plays you got to be under center you got to do play action and he's handling it great he has young guys around him as well I think Burden will continue to come along who was that first round pick this year another first round pick Loveland obviously a lot of people made a lot of noise because we ended up with Tyler Warren but I think he'll be he'll be just as good like he's unbelievable you got to be a good blocker to play at Michigan win the national championship but you never saw his receiving skills when he was in college and I think we're just kind of getting to the surface of that as well and then we know who DJ Moore is You know, a couple more touchdowns for him yesterday.
24:21Adam Schefter:But Caleb Williams, I couldn't be more impressed with what he's doing. And then defensive side of the ball, Dennis Allen. And I got to give a shout-out to Al Harris, too, because everywhere he goes, that secondary plays better and better. And Deshaun Wright, this guy was on Minnesota's practice squad last year. Now he's tied with his teammate, Kevin Byard, leading the National Football League. And that's an unbelievable interception right there. He said he has a wide receiver in his background. Actually gave Antonio Brown, Tony Totap a shout-out for this play. But unbelievable play. and you mentioned it, it's not just the offense or just the defense.
24:52Adam Schefter:We always talk about teams taking on the identity of their coach and kind of playing complimentary football and winning these close ball games, and they've been doing it all year long, man. Caleb Williams already has the franchise record with fourth quarter comebacks. Like, I can't say enough about the Chicago Bears team.
25:08Pat McAfee:I think they had a lot of injuries as well. This isn't like the full Chicago Bears team, and I have a chance to talk to, obviously, multiple Chicago Bears fans. Zito's living a high life. I assume they are very excited. He's getting stakes every Sunday because the Chicago Bears are getting big-time wins. We also have another friend who lives in Los Angeles but is a diehard Chicago Bears fan. Just the amount of, we're only getting better. We're getting guys back healthy. We don't even have any linebackers in the moment. We're only getting better at this time. They feel like, hey, we've been waiting a long, long time.
25:37Pat McAfee:And once you start to see those little sparks, little sparks of that offense looking like Jared Goff and Caleb looking like Jared Goff, it's like, man, what Ben and Jared were able to do versus adding what Caleb can do into that with Ben Johnson knowing what Caleb can do. So now you got this type of shit happening and he's the head coach of the team, so he's not leaving. So you don't have to be like scared that we're going to have massive success here with a young quarterback and he's going to be gone because that's what happens with good offensive coordinators. They end up leaving. Ben Johnson leaves Detroit, goes to Chicago.
26:06Pat McAfee:So they could potentially only grow and grow and grow Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes type shit. And I don't want to like get cart before horse, but that's very real, I think, at this point.
26:15Darius Butler:No, their offense with their weapons is awesome. You guys talked about it, and you talked about DJ Moore. Everybody knows DJ Moore except for the Steelers defense that just let them run straight down the seam uncovered. But they have guys at literally every single position. You talk about Loveland. Cole Komet's still there, too, and the wide receivers that they have. And now with Manunga, they have two backs, and the O-line is incredible. But, yeah, the defense, all their linebackers were out. And then, what, Jalen Johnson's been out for a while. They have another starting guy in the secondary who's been out for a while.
26:42Darius Butler:When they get all those guys back, they're only going to get better, and they're winning games right now and learning how to win games right now. So that is really, really a good thing for them.
26:49Pat McAfee:Yeah. Hey, good for Chicago. Yeah, I'm believing. Good for Chicago. And Caleb is going to be a guy, right? We're all on that boat. Absolutely.
27:00Adam Schefter:I was always. You were. You were. You very much were.
27:04Pat McAfee:I was. I was on boat like, hey, Caleb's a guy. Caleb's a guy. Caleb's a guy. And then I saw Ben Johnson and heard stories about Ben Johnson. and then I saw the way it started. And I was like, oh, this might not work out here for Caleb in Chicago. It might be another one of those stories of a guy having to find another home and then finding the right spot and doing his thing. And then the thought of Caleb just completely being able to transform how he thinks in a season, and then it being very much on display. Like you can literally just kind of watch it unfold in front of us. It's like, oh, no, they're only going to get better in this entire thing.
27:40Pat McAfee:I think it's a big look out from the Chicago Bears to everybody. Now we're just talking about the Rams. The Rams and McVay, Stafford and McVay are on like year what, eight of this now? Seven? Something like that, yeah. Seven and eight of this offense being what it is, you know? And they add Devontae. It's like that's what you're thinking here with the Bears. It's like they're only – if Ben and Caleb are together, the other pieces around it are like, okay, this is sustainable. This is like kind of sustainable.
28:07Adam Schefter:And people are going to want to go there. You know what I mean? People are going to want to go to Chicago. Like the first thing you look at, you know, free agency, obviously after money is like okay how's the quarterback do I have a chance to win how's the head coach do I do I like the culture and everything we're seeing has been great and we all heard a lot of things from Caleb Williams just saw a lot of things or people around his camp you hear different things and it's like okay Ben Johnson because we all know how the personalities have to mesh so I think that was a big question for a lot of people and I don't know maybe it's more I see like behind the scenes or like mic'd up where it's like okay I didn't expect certain things from Caleb Williams that I'm seeing now.
28:42Adam Schefter:We all know he had the talent, but it's so much more than talent that goes into it, and he feels like he has all those things as well.
28:48Darius Butler:And yesterday, everything was on script. We know him for his off script stuff. He didn't do any of that yesterday. Now that could have been because people were running wide open, but everything was on script. So what's going on with you guys, buddy?
28:57Pat McAfee:Steelers.
28:59Darius Butler:They stink.
29:00Pat McAfee:What?
29:01Darius Butler:They stink.
29:02Pat McAfee:No, they're six and five.
29:04Darius Butler:That's a fugues.
29:06Pat McAfee:What?
29:07Darius Butler:That's fool's gold.
29:08Pat McAfee:How about? Easy. Don't get into fool's gold.
29:12Darius Butler:Please, don't be doing that. It's one of my favorite movies, Matthew Connick. Shout out.
29:16Pat McAfee:That's something we're talking about, though. We are talking about two Macs on a line, babe. Pittsburgh Steelers, though, 6-5. There's been multiple years now where the Pittsburgh Steelers have had successful records, good records, and Steelers fans have openly said into microphones that people are listening to and amongst the entire city and Steelers fan base itself, this team ain't good enough to win anything. This is fake. This is fake. That's how Steelers fans feel. If it doesn't look like it can win a Super Bowl, Steelers fans immediately know, and they're looking for a reason to talk shit about you.
29:48Pat McAfee:And that is kind of where we've been with this Steelers team for a few weeks, certainly after the way yesterday looks, it sounds like.
29:54Darius Butler:Yeah, and the defense, like we talked about, there was a month ago, it was like, oh, the defense is the worst. And then there was three or four weeks where they were getting better, and then they regressed yesterday. Everybody was running wide open. To those Steelers fans that said Mason should be the starting quarterback, you guys are idiots. I just want to say that out there. I think Aaron probably would have won the football game yesterday, but no, it's just everything's disjointed. We just showed Caleb throwing all those seam routes and everything over the middle. They don't throw over the middle because there's a chance an interception happens.
30:23Darius Butler:And then third and five, they just let wide receivers run wide open at five yards because they're afraid of getting beat for something worse. Like it's like you play the safest brand of football imaginable because that's how you try to, you try to win football games. And that's not how you win football games these days.
30:38Pat McAfee:It's also tough to watch as a fan. Yeah, it's very tough. I had a coach tell me, we're just trying to get one point more on the other team. Exactly, yes. Can we try to get 30 more on the other team? That would be a lot better. It would be a lot better life for all of us if we were trying to do that. But that is a mindset. Hey, we play winning football. We play winning football. It should work out. Well, the Bears are playing winning football. They're both 500. It's why I said six and five.
31:00Darius Butler:Could be worse.
31:01Pat McAfee:Tied for first.
31:02Darius Butler:Yeah, still tied for the lead.
31:03Pat McAfee:Got it. Got it. The Ravens, yeah, they didn't play their best game. and get away, but you guys got it. Going to the playoffs.
31:10Darius Butler:The Bucs were like 6-5 when they won the Super Bowl, right, with Brady in that first year? That's right. So we can still do it. That's right. Good point. There we go.
31:16Pat McAfee:Think about the Giants story back in the day. When they were in a fireball. 9-7 and they won the Super Bowl. Boom. Hope. I hate it. Especially when you're watching this team, it looks like. Yeah. Because he hasn't had it for a few weeks, has he? No. No. And the fan that he was talking about being an idiot was himself. Mm-hmm. No. That's a thing that just happened, right? That's good accountability. And even when they had it, the Ravens were still favored to win the division. Remember, we were all like, what the hell is going on? Yeah, four-game lead or something. Yeah, the Ravens won five.
31:48Pat McAfee:Fugates. Yeah, this team stinks. That's really what they're saying. All right, let's move on to the next headline, shall we? Ladies and gentlemen, number three coming out of the Week 12 NFL Sunday slate. Although not all these teams won, okay? There were some super-duper special teams, wasn't there? Oh, yeah. There were some magical things that happened around. How about Evan McPherson, Money Mac of the Cincinnati Bengals, They would go on to lose to the Patriots by six. But McPherson would hit a 63-yarder in Cincinnati in November. A lot of long sleeves on, obviously, out and around there. Cold time.
32:16Pat McAfee:Cincinnati, obviously, very windy. 63 just becoming like a casual day in the NFL these days. Congrats to him. Let's continue with the long balls. Will Reichard here from the Vikings out of Alabama, as we all recall. He has four kicks of 59 yards or plus this season. That's the most ever. And that was one in Lambeau. That thing hooked at the end. He played the wind beautifully. This kid's seemingly money from everywhere. The Vikings would go on to lose to the Green Bay Packers, but it was still a great kick. He scored all their points, and that was kind of, you know, like, I mean, it's massive when you have a struggling offense like that when you can confidently put a guy out there and say, like, hey, this guy, he will be good from 59 to 60.
32:57So, yeah, I mean, he was the best player on the field for them yesterday.
33:00Pat McAfee:And they have a dome, so him doing that in Lambeau, obviously good for him. and nine struggling, nine struggling. He stinks, unfortunately. He needs a little bit of help, obviously, and I don't think it's right to put it all on him. But, boy, just we talked about it from what they were last year to what they look like this year. I kind of – I almost feel bad for nine because they just – they have no chance to win when he's playing, really. And I know he won a couple weeks ago, but when he plays like he did yesterday, shit, they'd have a tough time beating Michigan this year. Well, Michigan's getting good.
33:31Obviously, big one this weekend. in Ohio State this weekend.
33:34Pat McAfee:Can't wait to be up in Ann Arbor. Hembo sent us some stats here. Justin Jefferson, whenever he's being targeted under Kirk Cousins, had a 109.8. Sam Donah, 108.1. J.J. McCarthy, 47.4. I think that was rude. There was other quarterbacks, too. Hembo decided not to leave out like the Pasternaut. Joe Webb. Carson Wentz. That for context is unnecessary as well. Yeah, there's a lot of context, he's saying. Yeah, Hembo's got stats and ideas, and there's a lot of people saying that about nine, but Will Reichert, absolute dog. Let's go to a big-time return. in a losing effort. Once again, it doesn't matter.
34:06Pat McAfee:We shouldn't talk about it. Chimare Dike takes one. 88 yards against the Seahawks. Now, there's not a lot to celebrate with the Tennessee Titans. Their brand kind of stinks right now. Nobody really trusts ownership to make the right decisions. They don't have a coach, but they have a special moment here with Chimare taking it to the crib. In my cause, my cleats, one of his friends who passed away from cardiac arrest had a foundation starter here, Kyle Lerner, a memorial fund, and raising money in that front. So him running with his friend literally on his feet, I think was a very cool moment. That's a sweet moment.
34:43Pat McAfee:Obviously, Dixon doesn't love it. The punter for Seattle, he hits a monster ball that comes back. But that was a cool moment. As I learned the story, I almost got pretty emotional about it because there's not a lot going right for Tennessee. That going right felt like it was a little bit of a thing. Congrats to him. That's a big time return. Let's go to another big ball. How about Jake Bates? in a winning effort from the Detroit Football Lions, the brand-new Lions. Look at this kick from the back here. The old Lions, this ball would not be going in. New Lions, the brand-new Lions, this ball goes in.
35:17Pat McAfee:Look at the snap. Great hold. Phenomenal by Fox. Slice. Come back home. 59 yards. Now, that is the perfect depiction of the old Lions versus the new Lions. Amen. Old Lions, that thing hits the upright at least and doesn't go in. So loud. New Lions, that thing kind of sneaks in, doesn't even touch the uprights because they don't want to celebrate or ruin the moment. 59 yards here from the greatest UXFL Super Duper Football League alum in the history of the league. Yep, without a doubt. What a stud there. He's former Super Duper Detroit Panthers. Michigan Panthers. There it is. The UXFL. They're doing good over there.
35:58Pat McAfee:Hey, come on. One more ball is better. Why are they cranking up? I think there's a new league coming. Did they pay their QBs, maybe? The Michigan Panthers no longer exist. What? Yeah, I'm sorry to say that.
36:10Darius Butler:Didn't they fire all the GMs? They did. There will be one man who oversees all of the football ops, essentially, for the league.
36:16Pat McAfee:So they're kind of going back to what the original X was. Correct. Yeah, they need to put the X back into football. This guy's got it figured out. I'm sure of it. Let's go to the last one. McClade, actually. Let's go to the highlight of all the highlights. a special teams highlight that needs to be watched for all of time five minutes left tie game fourth quarter got to come out and punt returner catches it on his one thank you sir for doing that now we have a chance to cover oh shit fumble long snapper on the ball first and goal from the six they were once down 21 points now in the fourth quarter on a special teams play a special play happens look into elijah clark now it's been shown a thousand times we feel obligated to show it once again because there is a point that i have versus other people as i was watching this highlight take place they were showing elijah clark's effort here as sydney brown pushes him around great effort by sydney brown anytime you get a body on the floor on a return that's good news elijah clark refused to be denied continued to chase continue to follow oh helmet to the ball fumble eliah go ahead and try to get some points now that type of effort it cannot be taught that type of effort only comes from the soul of an absolute dog elijah clark is everything that is great with football with special teams football as i'm watching it as a former punter i'm thinking to myself yes this is the man or 10 of the dudes that we need and i appreciate the fact that the entire nfl world Even the folks that weren't a part of special teams were like, hey, the reason why you should be respecting what's going on, this guy was the best football player everywhere he's ever been.
37:56Pat McAfee:Elijah Clark walks onto the field. Holy hell, Elijah Clark's here. I assume since he's like eighth grade. I assume since like seventh, eighth grade, he's been the best player on the field. Then it gets to the NFL. Hey, the way you're going to make this team is by playing something you've never played before. You're going to have to run blindly down the field and try to cover somebody. How far is the run? Well, Anger's got a huge leg, so maybe 60, 70-yard run. and then also you're going to have to go across the field and then what else is going to happen well you're going to get blindsided push and then there's going to be people trying to get you out of there yeah but so what's the end game well maybe you might possibly make the tackle only one person can make the tackle but hopefully you'll be able to do it so for him superstar to buy into that and all the other guys that buy into special teams it's the backbone of what football is which is why we try to save special teams at every single turn there's a lot of guys that only have jobs because of special teams there's a lot of football plays that get made that are so special to football that if they were to not exist anymore, it would hurt the game.
38:47Pat McAfee:This is one of them. Elijah Clark, absolute dog. God, give me that guy. Give me – could you imagine this guy was your gunner and you were a punter? He would be amazing. And D-Butt, I think we were talking about this earlier. Yep. This is being shown by everybody.
39:05Adam Schefter:This will be shown in every special team, probably team meeting rooms because you mentioned a large chunk of the roster. This is how you make teams. This is how you stay in the league. And for me, honestly, I wasn't cut out for this shit. I was not made for special teams, and I realized that very early on in my NFL career. Fortunately, I was drafted high enough to where I could sabotage some of these special teams drills early and kind of get buried on all the bottom of the gunner depth chart. So I did do what Sidney Brown's doing, and I did do some returning early on. But this shit right here, like there's football games.
39:37Adam Schefter:You can play 50 snaps on defense. One special teams rep, like a punt rep or a kickoff rep, old kickoff rep, old kickoff rep. Yeah, yeah, I understand. Those reps, probably like 12 to 14 defensive snaps as far as the physical and mental tolls it takes over you because it is every guy out there, it feels like they're battling for their job in their NFL and their professional life, and it's just a different breed, and this is a perfect example of that. And this was a winning play. It was very, very nice of you to show all those great efforts from those losing teams, but this is an unbelievable play and a winning effort for a winning team.
40:11Adam Schefter:Great play.
40:12Pat McAfee:It was a winning effort, but obviously they don't do anything. They go four times and they don't get a turnover on downs. Two-fourths down. They should ruin it. But it was, hey.
40:21Adam Schefter:Unbelievable.
40:22Pat McAfee:Unbelievable.
40:22Adam Schefter:Yes.
40:23Pat McAfee:Which goes to the number two headline. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, the Cowboys.
40:26Adam Schefter:Mm-hmm.
40:29Pat McAfee:Comeback. Corrals. The Eagles. A lot of different ways to use the C words in this particular title. We landed on this one. The Cowboys comeback. Corrals. The Eagles. strictly because it was Philadelphia Eagles night. It was their night. Jalen Hurts was bopping around, scoring touchdowns. AJ's shoes and cleats look so awesome out there. Devontae's making big-time plays. Sirianni's living the high life down in Jerry World. Hello and welcome to the show. We are your Super Bowl champions. That's what it felt like. There were shots of Dak on the sideline taking his helmet off, and I actually thought to myself, maybe Dak isn't the guy that we've been talking about.
41:03Pat McAfee:I remember just a week ago, we were talking about the Dallas Cowboys holding Dak back. You know, the conversation was always, is Dak holding back the Cowboys? How come nobody's ever talked about the Cowboys holding Dak back? That's where we were. And I watched the beginning of this game. I'm like, what an idiot I was. This guy's crazy. That's not what it is at all. Boom. Fast forward to right before the half. Dak Prescott, George Pickens. What a trade this was by Jerry Jones. Now, whenever DK Metcalf goes to Pittsburgh, we wondered if GP and DK were going to be able to eat on the same offense.
41:31Pat McAfee:They were not. George Pickens goes to Dallas, changes up his entire trajectory of his entire career on a contract year. Not only that touchdown. Let's go 21-14 in the fourth. George Pickens, spectacular catch, which is kind of what he does. This is literally what he does. He'll go up and get it. He's fast. He has great football IQ, and he feels like he's at home with the Dallas Cowboys. And Jerry Jones is at the stage of life where he just calls him George. We're very happy about George. Now, you know who else is happy about George? Dak Prescott, fourth quarter, 21-14. Ah, John Elway. Let me land on my neck and go absolutely apeshit here at Jerry World.
42:12Pat McAfee:21-21. Eagles can answer. They're our Super Bowl champs. Jalen Hurts, make something happen. Saquon Barkley, MVP. Oh, no. Fumble. Oh, no. Dallas Cowboys recover. Now what are they going to do with it? Nothing. Now they punt. Send it down. We just watched this. Elijah Clark says, don't worry about it, Dak. Don't worry about it, boys. He'll catch the punt at the one. Xavier Gibson, who is a very talented returner. Bad decision here. Leads to a worse outcome. Dallas Cowboys get it first and goal on the seven in the fourth quarter. Five minutes left in the fourth. Oh, my gosh. They were down 21. All we need is Dak to just do something.
42:54Pat McAfee:Fourth and goal. Dak Prescott at shotgun from the one and a half. Scanning. Throwing. Short. Not going to do it. Turnover on downs. Holy hell. How do you not get something done? Well, don't worry about it. Eagles won't either. Third and two. Sacked by Osa. Oh, Diggie Zua. Friend of the program. Got paid. Absolute beast. Huge play. The Cowboys get the ball back. Dak Prescott hits a couple. Then he finds George Pickens once again to get in the field goal range. And Brandon Aubrey. Is he from the UXFL? I think he's just from the streets. Actually, I think he's from the football gods, Brandon Aubrey.
43:34Pat McAfee:He missed a kick earlier in the game. We were all very confused. He's gotten to that point where if he misses, we have no idea what the hell is going on. We all assumed he was going to make the game winner. He did. Congrats to the Cowboys getting a huge win after seemingly a historic collapse by the Philadelphia Eagles. D-butt, your talking point from this game, Dak and Dallas, very durable and tough, or Philadelphia Eagles? This is exactly who we thought they were.
44:02Adam Schefter:A little bit of both. I still have the utmost faith in the Philadelphia Eagles to figure it out, but for the Cowboys to come out there, be down, you know, Shottie said it after the game, yeah, we might have spotted them 21. You can't win in the game any other quarter but the fourth quarter, and that's what the Cowboys did. Dak Prescott has been dominant, especially at home, against his divisional opponents. He's been unbelievable. When they go out, we talked about championship defenses coming to this game. This is what we felt about the Eagles, and I still think they'll figure it out. But George Pickens, man, him coming over here and the way that they use him in this offense compared to how they use him in Pittsburgh.
44:36Adam Schefter:Pittsburgh, he was basically just a shot guy at the X. Now he's running across the middle. He's getting matched up on slot defenders. He's on the outside. He's on the inside. And right now he's wide receiver one in Dallas. And I think after this season, it looks like he'll probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the National Football League. I don't know if it'll be in Dallas because of what they paid to CD, but he is that type of talent. He's just unbelievable. Go-to guy that you can throw the ball anywhere around, and three is going to come down with it.
45:01Pat McAfee:Yeah, you talk about three need money. Well, Jerry will figure that out, won't he, Ty? Yeah, I think it's time we maybe give Jerry a little bit of credit. You know, people have been killing him all year, but I think this is one of the rare instances where you look at the Micah Parsons trades, and, like, both teams won that trade. Packers got what they needed. Cowboys early on this year, maybe not so much, but it enabled Jerry to kind of go and get Quinn and Williams. And their defense, I mean, we knew what their offense was very early on this year. It was, hey, Cowboys are going to score 50 points a game to win.
45:29And, you know, now after the trade deadline, they have some of those pieces in place. And I think Jerry knew all along, like, hey, there is a way that I can kind of remake this team during the season. And people can keep talking about Micah, you know, and how big of a mistake that was. He's good. He's unbelievable. He is. but I think you could also argue that the Cowboys probably are better off, you know, without him with the guys they brought in. So, yeah, I mean, if you're looking at everything right now, I think the Cowboys are one of those teams where, like, you don't want to play them right now with how their defense is playing.
46:00We know what their offense can do, and we'll see what happens on Thursday. That's a massive game. Hair looks amazing, Conman, by the way.
46:06Pat McAfee:Oh, thank you very much. I just want to let you know. I saw it there. It was shining. It was glistening. It looks unbelievable. Cowboys might be for real, and I know that sports media fans don't love that, and we might fall into sports media world. 21-point comeback, the way they do it. Shottie's wearing a backward visor in the thing afterwards. And George Pickens making these plays week in and week out. It's like – Nine for nine.
46:27Adam Schefter:Nine targets, nine catches.
46:29Pat McAfee:Filthy. Stafford started, what, 11 for 11? Yes. 12. Went to 12. Outrageous. All right, number one. Go ahead. I was just going to say, I think there's also something very real about playing for something bigger than everything. After Marshawn Nealon passed away, you saw late in the game, they're waving his flag. We saw what happened. against the Raiders, that can galvanize an entire state almost, and like Cowboys Nation, and I think that's exactly what's happened. Yeah, and you can also, I mean, obviously that certainly perspective and we're in this thing together for our guy here, but also whenever Micah gets traded away, they're told they're trash.
47:01Pat McAfee:Yeah, exactly. Basically told they can't win. Season's over mentality. There could be a lot of bunker mentality down there in Dallas. And the number one headline, I don't like it because we know what this is supposed to be. Every time we've done this, after a Colts win, number one has been the Colts going to win the Super Bowl. Well, turns out, maybe not. Chiefs is still the Chiefs. And a lot of flags in this game. You know, we got a lot of them. A lot of good calls. A lot of good calls. I put out a tweet, a lot of flags. A lot of flags, is what I said. And I got a lot of people saying, but who's getting the calls?
47:35Pat McAfee:It's like, we were actually getting the calls in Kansas City against Kansas City. I think that is something that should be talked about. But then we weren't, too, at times. Tough to watch this game. Tough to watch this game. Especially early if you're a Colts fan. It looks easy. Michael Pittman Jr. takes a couple hits. Daniel Jones, there's some dimes. How you doing? We're having a good time. 7-3. Let's go ahead and get it back. Well, Ashton Doolin, actually a guy you probably never heard of. Stud for us. Great on special teams. Oh, yeah. And a weapon with his speed. Yeah, he's going to go for about 30, 40, 50.
48:02Pat McAfee:And then we're going to throw it to 6 '5", 265-pound Ogletree, who has the sweet feet. It's 14-3 in Kansas City. He got Tony Romo telling me this is DEFCON 10 for the Kansas City Chiefs. Let's go to 20-9, fourth quarter. You're up 11 against the Chiefs. Oh, Kareem Hunt, he's going to score a touchdown. That's okay. That's all right. That's all right. They're going to do that. A two-point conversion out of making a three-point game. Just got to get a stop. Oh, he's wide-ass. No. Now, listen, they weren't even able to do their play they were doing against us the entire game, which is just crossing routes.
48:33Pat McAfee:These dudes were just running, crossing routes. We couldn't keep up with them. Rasheed Rice going one way. Xavier Worthy going the other way. Rasheed Rice going one way. Xavier Worthy going the other way. This is all they did the whole game. The whole game. Mooney, Sauce, we got them. We got two corners. Well, they're in track meets because they're trying to keep up with some of the fastest guys in the league running across the field. And Patrick Mahomes and the boys get a field goal to tie it. We get the ball first. Zaire Franklin wins the toss, takes the ball first. Tony Romo immediately points out why he wouldn't do that, but I think I'm a ball first type guy.
49:10Pat McAfee:We go three and out. What does Patrick Mahomes do? Well, just like he did at the end of the fourth quarter, worthy crossing around. I mean, it's just every time, every time. That's all. And here's Rasheed Rice. Guess what's going to happen? What? Again, from the other side of the fucking field. That's all they did the whole time. They just did it the whole time. It was very obvious, like early, like, oh, shit. We're not going to be able to keep up with these guys. They have track stars running across the field. And it's like, this is what Patrick Mahomes and this Chiefs team can be whenever they have healthy and explosive weapons.
49:40Pat McAfee:I think that's what they've shown in the past. Feels like the coach ran into that. Harrison Buckner not only hits the game tire, the game tire that he kicked at the end of the fourth quarter, they got the ball like their four-yard line. And they drove that thing for four minutes and 30 seconds right down the field against us. And then they kicked that game tire. And then obviously we knew once they got the ball in overtime, oh, here we go again. This is Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are still the Chiefs. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, to wrap up this first 15 is an absolute legend, a Michigan man, and the NFL insider that we call every week to let us know what the hell's going on, Adam Schefter.
50:12Hey!
50:14Pat McAfee:Gentlemen, what's going on? Schefter, thank you for hanging out with us. Let's hit some things that we weren't able to cover. Baker Mayfield, AC sprain joint, that is what it came. Did he come into the game with that, or did it happen last night? Feels like he was doing this often and early. Yeah, no, he's been banged up this year. I don't know exactly what was wrong going into the game, but I've been told that he had been pretty banged up all season long, more so than I think people realized. Last night, obviously, that shoulder got worse, whether it was the same injury, aggravate, or whatever it was.
50:44He went down there. They took x-rays, no fracture, nothing structurally wrong. Now, he's going for the MRI in about a half hour, 30 minutes from now, and that should tell more. But the way it was told to me, they're not ready to rule him out Sunday, which, again, you see him go down there. You see him grabbing his shoulder. I'm thinking, like, well, how many weeks is this going to be? He's on the sidelines in street clothes in a sling. Like, it looks like it's a multiple-week injury to me. But in speaking to them today, they say they're not ready to rule him out for Sunday. And they think there's a chance he could wind up playing.
51:19We'll see what happens with the MRI.
51:20Pat McAfee:We know Baker Mayfield's just like a ram truck. He's damn tough. I mean, that is just a matter of fact. And it felt like he was doing that early last night. That's why I thought maybe came into it with something. and they wouldn't let him play if there was any structural damage. So it felt like a sprain in there. Incredibly painful. Obviously, Baker's tough. We hope we get a chance to see him. Tough outing. Speaking of tough outings, let's talk about New England's win yesterday. Yeah, Shefty, left tackle Will Campbell and left guard Jared Wilson both hurt. Will Campbell knee, Jared Wilson ankle.
51:49What are we looking at as far as timetables, and are both these guys going to hopefully be able to come back? Yeah, I think, well, Vrabel today talked about the fact that they don't – he doesn't think it's season-ending, And I think if you look at the schedule, I wouldn't expect that either player would play a week from tonight against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. But the Patriots have their bye in week 14, the week after. So I think at the very least, you give these guys, they don't play Monday, they get the bye week off. And then you're reevaluating them in two weeks to see whether or not they can get back out there.
52:23It sounds like it's going to be a little bit longer on Will Campbell. We'll see how it all shakes out. Not a great day for the left side of the Patriots offensive line, but again, doesn't sound like it's a long-term for either player.
52:34Pat McAfee:Okay, we're happy to hear that, especially because those are two young guys in that team, obviously, up and to the right. Let's talk about a little bit of an older gent, the oldest gent, actually. Go ahead, Tom.
52:42Darius Butler:Yeah, Chef D. Aaron Rodgers, obviously that left wrist. We saw him practicing last week before the Bears game. I was told he took all the first-team reps on Friday for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and then he does not go on Sunday. Was it a doctor's decision? because we were told Aaron wanted to go. What was the situation there? Well, my understanding was that Aaron did want to play. He was pushing to play all week long and that the doctors were obviously more cautious and guarded. I think ultimately in the end, the doctors and Mike Tallman make the call about whether or not he's going to go and they decided on Saturday to hold him out of the game.
53:16Some of the players didn't know until Sunday pregame exactly what was going to happen, but they made the decision on Saturday to start Mason Rudolph And they also made it sound like they think Rodgers could be back this upcoming week. It sounds like that is real possible, that he has a real possibility of playing on Sunday. They need him back. They lost yesterday. He's really impressed them this year, just the way he's carried himself, his toughness, the whole thing. And I would think that he is back this week.
53:44Pat McAfee:Man, the Landlord definitely wanted to go back home maybe for one last trip. We'll be excited to see what ends up happening for the rest of the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers and his career. You know what? It ends up on top loss to Chicago Bears, who might be for real. Let's talk about somebody for real being out next week and the week following and the week following and the week following.
54:02Adam Schefter:Moves in Las Vegas. Go ahead, D-Bud. Yeah, Chip Kelly came over from the Ohio State Buckeyes after winning the national championship. Highest paid coordinator now fired for the Las Vegas Raiders. I just want to know, is Pete Carroll safe after this season? What are your thoughts and vibes going on in Vegas right now? look well Pete Carroll's never fired an assistant coach in season in his entire time in Seattle and now they fired two different coordinators here in about two plus weeks they fired their special teams coach and now they fired Chip Kelly last night I look I think it's clear like nobody seems to be safe right now out there in the coaching staff I think everything's up in the air I think the season has not gone the way that a lot of people would have hoped.
54:49It's been disappointing in a lot of different ways. You lose to the Browns at home like that, give up 10 sacks, everything's going to be called into question.
54:57Pat McAfee:Let's talk about the Browns. Kevin Stefanski kind of, why do you do that? Why do you just come out and say, hey, this is cool? I'm out of here. I'll tell you why. Why do you just say this boy is his first rookie since when?
55:09Adam Schefter:1995 to win their debut for the Browns.
55:11Pat McAfee:And I know he didn't go for 300 or whatever. and stats are tough. We're trying to find, you know, it's hard to find all that, but still, at quarterback, the position, the vibe to win a game like that, especially for Cleveland. Now, granted, he's saying a lot of things that people are like, relax, okay, you need to relax, but that's not Shador. Like, that is not what Shador is, which could be exactly what Cleveland Browns need, which is actually what he said in his pregame interview. Before his first start, he's getting interviewed, okay, I don't even know how that would happen. A fifth-round pick, a rookie quarterback, right before his first ever start, he's getting a pregame interview.
55:40Pat McAfee:I don't know if that's ever happened for anybody ever before, or would ever happen again. And she goes, what are you trying to prove or show here to your fans, your team, and everything? I'm who they've been waiting for or something like that. It's like, what a fucking bar right there right before you go out there. Now, I'm not saying they're going to go undefeated with him. I'm not saying they're going to win next week. What I am saying, though, is it felt like Stefanski just, there wasn't a single moment of like, yeah, that was a good moment for our team. Why is that? A lot of people are wondering that, Shefty.
56:05Yeah, well, listen, I think, and I know a lot of people are up in arms with the way Kevin Stefanski He has treated Shador Sanders. I think he's been quietly supportive behind the scenes. Like, he's worked with them every single day. He supports – this is not a personal thing. People are saying, well, why didn't he name him the starter after the game? Well, how about – does anybody think Shador is not going to start this week? I think we all do. But give the head coach some time to go back, look at the film, talk to the staff, talk to the players. How about letting Dylan Gabriel know, hey, we're going to take another look at Shador this week before you announce it to the press after the game?
56:43There's little steps that you have to follow. Everybody wanted him to be anointed right after the game. And I can't imagine that he wouldn't start this upcoming week. That, to me, would be a surprise considering that they won the game. He played well. A little bit of momentum. Nice to see. You saw Myles Garrett's reaction after that long pass. That might have been the first long pass he's seen in Cleveland in the last decade. I mean, he was like, oh my God, that's what happens when you complete a long pass? Wow. Exciting. So I think he starts, but I don't think Kevin Spansky had to come out and say that after the game yesterday.
57:16Pat McAfee:All right. All right. I appreciate you. You're the best. We'll talk to you tomorrow, man. Ladies and gentlemen, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter.

58:56Pat McAfee:Football! And we say Young because we don't know any of them, really. You know, like Bryce Young, he gets drafted into the NFL out of Alabama. This guy's the Steph Curry of football. He's got an incredible sense of feel, and his explosive plays are outrageous. Then he comes in, and he looks small, he gets beat up, and they stink. And everybody says, this guy is not going to be able to be good. He actually gets benched at one point. Andy Dalton goes in. Then Bryce Young last year goes back in after watching Andy Dalton, maybe getting a refresh button, reset button, with Canales as the head coach and a play caller.
59:27Pat McAfee:Before that was at Tampa with Baker Mayfield, did what he did. And Bryce Young and them have kind of built a culture. They've kind of built an identity. And they've got wins that none of us really would have expected. Getting seven and a half points against a San Francisco 49ers team that is obviously one week removed from Brock Purdy coming back and putting on an absolute clinic with all the weapons that they have. Defense is without Bosa and Fred Warner, but still been able to kind of halt people whenever they need to. The Niners could potentially go on and win a Super Bowl this year. They got money in a lot of different places.
59:59Pat McAfee:Tough injuries, but still a lot of money in a lot of different places, especially ones that you need. George Kittle, we can obviously assume that he'll be dancing tonight in the paint. And then Juice, we'll assume he'll be doing some stuff. Christian McCaffrey will be explosive. San Francisco 49ers team, go win a Super Bowl. Sure. We'll find out tonight if they can handle the Carolina Panthers. And this Carolina Panthers team could tell the world tonight, we're actually a real team. We're not the joke that you guys thought we had been. We're not the team whose owner is throwing ice on people anymore.
1:00:25Pat McAfee:We're the owner who on his drive to work, local stores are using their signs to say terrible things about him. We're not that team anymore. We are a team where our owner actually donated the entire stadium and everything to Hurricane Relief Fund. He actually tries to take care of the community. Now he's giving back, staying hands off a football thing. We got a general manager, Dan Morgan, who I don't think he's blinked since becoming the Carolina Panthers general manager, former linebacker for Miami. Yes, the U is where he was a linebacker. And he has not shut his eyes one time until this Carolina Panther team could be a team that he would like to say, I'm the one to put this together.
1:01:03Pat McAfee:Canales, the head coach, he's doing his thing. They are a team. So are the Niners, obviously. Talks at the tables here. At Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer. Cowboys AP Tony's here. What was that stat? About 60 % of the bets? And what's everybody seeing tonight?
1:01:16Darius Butler:Yeah, teams this weekend that were getting 60 % or more of the bets against the spread were 2-7-1. and tonight the Niners. Against the spread. Yes, against the spread, sorry. Tonight the Niners would fall into that category. They're at 61%, 62%, somewhere around there.
1:01:31Pat McAfee:Nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler. Your thoughts on the numbers we just heard. And it's not just 2-7-1 this week, D-Buck.
1:01:39Adam Schefter:Yeah, it feels like almost like we're getting worse, which I don't love. But I think we're in for a banger tonight. It's a big game for both of these teams, obviously both the winning records, fighting to get kind of obviously at the rims, what they did. The Niners got to stay in contention with that NFC West, so I think we're due for a banger tonight.
1:01:58Pat McAfee:The Irish Hoos.
1:01:59Darius Butler:They got 12 at 130 or 140 last week.
1:02:02Pat McAfee:He's got a hilarious catch radius, this guy. He is fun to watch. And Bryce Young, everything they said about him, turns out if he's not just getting crushed every play, he does. He does operate an offense pretty damn good. His arm town's special. Crazy how that works. And they move into first place in the division if they win. In the NFC South? That's right.
1:02:24Adam Schefter:Banged up acre.
1:02:26Pat McAfee:Oh! Yeah! Seven and a half! The time is now. That feels like a lot of points. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, massive Dan Morgan fan. Ladies and gentlemen, A.J. Hawk. Yeah, Hawk. Hey, Hawk. You're right. I am a massive Dan Morgan fan. Have been for a long time. it's no surprise that he has Carolina kind of rolling in the right direction. Yeah, it feels like he's got a culture in place. Rico Dowdle, also a very explosive weapon in the backfield. Let's talk about the San Francisco 49ers team, though. We just saw Brock, and we actually had a train.
1:02:58Pat McAfee:I think the last time we did this was like, the Brock Purdy train is back, and everybody's happy. And it's like Shanahan was in there doing his thing. The rest of the offense was behind him. And it's like, this is why Brock Purdy got paid a couple hundred million dollars to play quarterback in this system. Yes, people have been good with Shanahan, Brock Purdy seemingly better than everybody else because his decision-making, his ball placement, everything about him screams and radiates the Shanahan offense. And then, you know, we immediately see seven and a half points with a shiny new object, and we go, whoa, wait a minute.
1:03:31Pat McAfee:I like this Carolina Panthers team. I don't know if a lot of people know about this Carolina Panthers team. What are your thoughts on tonight's game as we wrap up Week 12 of the NFL slate? I mean, you're right. Purdy and Kittle obviously have a great connection with Juszczyk, and then you throw CMC in there. Yeah, their offense is definitely something that it's not easy to stop. But I don't know. Like, seven and a half definitely feels like a lot. I feel like Carolina, people have, I don't know, is it a recency bias of, like, the last couple years? They just don't think that Carolina and Bryce Young can get it done.
1:04:01But, I mean, Ted McMillan, that guy has been awesome all year long, like you said, Dowdle. I'm going to have a hard time here with this one tonight. I don't know which way I'm leaning, but I'm probably leaning Carolina if I had to tell you right now.
1:04:12Pat McAfee:Okay, that's good news because you are seeing it right now. I don't know if you know this. We talked about this the first hour. 9-3-1 on Weekend H. Wow, solid. I was glad to turn on the program and see this. I was glad that I really didn't know. I wasn't sure. I thought I could have had it. It was one of those games with all the spreads were so big. It was one of those weeks where who knows which way it goes. It was a great Sunday slate, though. Had a couple overtime games. Obviously, the massive comeback. Let's talk about the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles from your perspective. Obviously, that Dallas Cowboys defense just turns off the hose.
1:04:41Pat McAfee:Just says, nope, I don't think so anymore. What an impressive bunch of stops that they had, obviously, late. And then Philadelphia Eagles, are we? Tough to play with the lead, man. It's tough to play with the lead, I guess, huh? Is it? I don't know. It would be cool to be able to do that. But I do know whenever some of these stats come out, and I'm not saying now that 21-zip is outrageous in this state of college football. It does feel like we're getting bigger comebacks than maybe ever before because the talent level on the offensive side and the rules maybe and the style of game and everything like that.
1:05:12Pat McAfee:but there's always these stats that come out like teams that were in this position were 4 ,001 or whatever. It's like it's not like sometimes whenever we see these big leads, it's like the reason why it's such a big deal is because normally these teams win. Philadelphia Eagles feel like a team that should win a game whenever they're up 21-0, especially against a rival, especially at this time of the year. Thanksgiving is in three days. Happy Thanksgiving week, everybody. Happy Thanksgiving. So it's like you would think that this team would be able to put a team away, especially with who they are.
1:05:39Pat McAfee:I mean, this team is the Super Bowl champs. this team is philadelphia eagles they're expected to do their thing multiple mvp type conversations multiple number one wide receivers a defense that has been menacing to everybody for the last couple years with vic fangio on the call and then they just seemingly collapse age and you have to wonder and i don't like doing this there's so much drama in this team man so much drama so once that thing starts going the other way like is there enough to like kind of stop it and go the other way you You know what I mean, AJ? Like, I don't love all the shit that goes on with their team just in general.
1:06:12Pat McAfee:I think it's too much distraction to win football. But they won a Super Bowl in the middle of it all. So it's like they kind of debunk all that. But it is like all that drama. At some point, it shows up. I'm not saying yesterday, but maybe it was yesterday. This play right here. Jeez, that play right there was gigantic. Unbelievable. Way to retrace it and track him down and just a beautiful punch on the ball. There's not a whole lot Saquon could do about that. Okay, so on the play, but how about on the entirety of the Philadelphia Eagles, AJ? I just talked about it. My bad. Yeah, yeah. I get distracted by great defensive plays, and these Cowboys were doing it in the second half.
1:06:46Offense, defense, especially, and special teams. We know that. It's a full team game. Here we go. Floose, remember a couple weeks ago? Yeah. Talked about him showing signs of life on the sidelines and getting all jacked up. I think he's starting to feel it a little bit right now.
1:06:56Pat McAfee:Okay, so you're more pro-Cowboys than Eagles worried is what it sounds like. Eagles are a weird situation. It is a weird thing. And when the Cowboys went down and scored right before half, you're thinking like, all right, you know, now we're going into half, even though you have a 21-7 lead, the momentum has kind of flipped to the other team, to the home squad. And I think Dak is a great, like, you know, calming influence that makes plays. But this Eagles team, I don't know. I don't I don't fully get it. Maybe they feed off the chaos, the drama, all that. But at some point, I guess it gets to like a tipping point to where you can't really I don't know.
1:07:27You just don't find a way to win games like this that you should win.
1:07:29Pat McAfee:Exactly. And when you win, by the way, it all just kind of, ah, they're winning. We even say it like, hey, they got all this shit going on that nobody else really has going on.
1:07:37Adam Schefter:Doesn't matter. They're winning.
1:07:39Pat McAfee:And they're the Super Bowl champs. They can do whatever. Obviously, you lose this one, especially up 21, it's going to grow a little bit. It's going to get louder. But if they were to lose a couple games in a row, it'd be like, is this team lost it? Whatever it was. That worries me. We've seen teams in the past have locker room struggles and completely change it. and I'm not going to speak from anything other than my own experiences as a fan, the Indiana Pacers, okay, they're playing the Heedles. You remember those days? Oh, yeah. That whole team? Yep. I mean, everybody on that team. Roy, Paul, Lance, George.
1:08:12Pat McAfee:I mean, you just go through that roster. They were awesome to watch. Awesome to watch. Something happens. Still don't know. I, outside locker room, do not know. Something definitely happened in the locker room. team dead everybody's gone never happens again personal something happened in in the locker room with either disagreements or not liking or something like that it's like that locker room is there ever going to be simpatico you know and i think you need that but they proved i guess last year that you don't need that but it's like i think you need like uh i think you need high morale amongst the boys especially in a long ass nfl season yeah and that's why i guess they can just say we won last year with this type of stuff happening but it's always loud over there and I don't I don't know how they operate within it to be honest yeah you definitely gotta like each
1:08:57Adam Schefter:other I just hate how much I guess we know or we hear about what's going on in the locker room I think Jason Kelsey may came out this past weekend or maybe it was an older podcast somebody recorded but he talked about how he kind of fell out with Lane Johnson I think they didn't speak for like an entire offseason they're like damn near brothers so like shit like that happens everybody's not going to be best friends every day but this is a team that has been the two super bowl in the last three or four years so we're you know sitting here you know towards thanksgiving where hey this is where teams kind of start to show who they are down the stretch and i still think we're going to see this from the eagles because of the talent they have but just very similar to like stillers fans and they can look at their team and look at the record and know okay that is either winning football or it's not same with the eagles like with saquon you got a 21 point lead and he has 10 carries for 22 yards.
1:09:45Adam Schefter:Like, that's insane. He hasn't been running the ball well this entire season. Like, until they find their stride there, I think Jalen Hurts, he can throw the ball. A.J. Brown can be great. Devontae Smith can be great. But that's kind of the backbone of who they are. We're going to out-physical you up front. We're going to play great defense, and then we're going to hit explosive plays when we need to. And they haven't been doing that. But they've still been winning games up to this point. I'm still, you know, I still have the utmost confidence in the Eagles down the stretch.
1:10:09Pat McAfee:Okay, I don't know if I do anymore. I love their team. I appreciate the fact that they're able to somehow remain focused with all this shit always happening around them. And they're Super Bowl champs for a reason. There's some stats coming out now. Lane Johnson, remember, planar fascia, I believe sprain, which is the lining of your foot. It's very painful. Since 2013, when he plays 120-62-1, when he doesn't play 15-25. So going back to your point about running ball and everything like that, whenever they have a great offensive line, which they had obviously last year best in the league, they can win.
1:10:38Pat McAfee:They do a lot of damage. This year without Lane Johnson, it doesn't work. And what is Landon's last name? It is Dickerson with a D. Why? What do you ask? No, I just didn't know. I've been hearing different things. I just, what a moment.
1:10:57Pat McAfee:Immediate sweating of the mouth. I believe. Immediate, immediate sweating of the mouth. Probably a couple drips. Never saw that guy sweat one time playing football. Nope. Always perfect. I assume when that happened, there was at least one or two. There was just kind of moistness coming up here. The mouth just, oh, my God. That's it. That's it. You see, his name. Let's move along and hope he doesn't get on camera again. Let's just keep it moving. Landon Dickerson. Hell of a player. Oh, yeah. Hell of a football player. Eagles led 21-0. and lost outright to the Cowboys. Obviously, you saw this analytics.
1:11:41Pat McAfee:I don't know what any of this means. I don't know what any of this means. It's hard for me to tell. You know, I guess it just goes from like at this point of a game when a team was up like this much, this is what the outcome was, and then it kind of changes. So to your point about, yeah. Duh. Shocking.
1:11:57Darius Butler:Thanks, thanks. In history, if you're leading by this much with this much time left, here's your odds to win.
1:12:01Pat McAfee:Here's the percentage. Joining us now is a man who might have the stats. We don't know.
1:12:04Darius Butler:Maybe.
1:12:05Pat McAfee:He's an Emmy Award winner. That's right. Ladies and gentlemen, the man who knows everything about everywhere, Peter Schrager. Yay! Hey, good haircut. I think you cut a little bit shorter. It looks good. You looked very spry on TV this morning, brother. I cleaned it up a little bit, and I knew I was coming on your show, so I made sure I got pretty, baby. Let's go. Oh, get pretty. I like that. We appreciate that, obviously. We're talking about the Philadelphia Eagles right now. Obviously, Dallas Cowboys, incredible comeback. Wow. We saw the graphic. Man, no chance here whenever that was how it was, 21-0 or whatever, not able to really do much until right before half when George Pickens scores the touchdown.
1:12:38Pat McAfee:But the Dallas Cowboys could be all the way back. They got a road. They got a path. And Jerry Jones believes they can make the playoffs. I assume they do as well. Happy for Shawty. Happy for Dak. What a comeback win. For the Philadelphia Eagles, though, it's just so loud all the time. They thrive in that? Like, that's kind of AJ's take. AJ's like, maybe they thrive in the chaos. Maybe they need the controversy. And maybe that's just how that job is. Do we think that's weighing into anything that's happening with their team? Or do we strictly believe, maybe, that like Petula maybe doesn't understand what he needs to do as much.
1:13:06Pat McAfee:It's his first year as offensive coordinator. How do you kind of view the Philadelphia Eagles and what we saw yesterday and what we're seeing as a whole with them? Yeah, you can't take away those wins that they've had. So those are in their back pocket, and those are over the Rams and over the Bucs and over the Cowboys one time, but then the Chiefs in Arrowhead and the Packers in Lambeau. So those are in their back pocket. But it's fair to question what the hell is going on with the offense. They were up 21-0, and it's like, all right, They're on all cylinders gone. Since that point yesterday, they only totaled 107 yards, and they never advanced past the Cowboys' 38-yard line.
1:13:40They had three three-and-outs. They fumbled the ball. They missed a field goal, and they committed so many penalties. And here's what I'll say about Kevin Petulo. He comes from that Frank Reich tree. He comes there from Nick Sirianni. What? When he was with Phil Rivers, and they were with the Colts, they used to throw the ball all over the yard. and Sirianni and Reich likes to throw the ball. They used to do motion. You're not seeing any of it. You're seeing basically, can AJ and Devontae go one-on-one? Can they make their plays? Can Saquon break a tackle? And that's the offense. This is not a guy who just woke up and was handed the job here.
1:14:18This is a guy who's had a career learning about offenses and designing offenses. And I don't think it's necessarily by design that this is the offense that it is. It seems like maybe this is what he thinks is their best chance to win, given what they've got at the quarterback spot and what they've got going with offense. Like, trust me, he knows how to do all the stuff that we see, all the bells and whistles. They're not even trying it. So that's the red flag to me. Like, why not give this offense a chance to do something creative? Why not give this offense a chance to run some of the exotic stuff that his offenses have run before?
1:14:51Pat McAfee:Yeah, it feels like it's very loud around that offense mostly. But Philly, maybe this is how the Johns operate down there. And we know Nick Sirianni is the guy that can handle it all, right? Last year, there was A.J. Brown chatter. There was other conversation. When they won the Super Bowl, two wide receivers are the ones dumping the Gatorade. I think that sends a big message, as does every cryptic tweet that A.J. Brown puts out.
1:15:10Adam Schefter:Yeah. Sirianni and? Big Dom. Exactly.
1:15:15Pat McAfee:People are saying Big Dom needs to take Petula down there to a local spot and not bring him back. Uh-oh. That's what they're saying. Whoa. Seeing that. I saw a couple tweets from people that were like, what does Big Dom actually do? Is he trying to take care of the Eagles? Well, why doesn't he take care of Petula? and that could potentially be something for the good of the entire city. You saw Tom playing catch with A.J. Brown? Yes. You see who was two feet away from Tom? Who was that? Big Dom. I was like, of course. I was watching. I'm like, of course. Big Dom orchestrated this entire thing.
1:15:42Darius Butler:Making sure not giving away information. Tom was playing catch. He's got some of the organ duck in it. That should be against the rules.
1:15:47Pat McAfee:I was going to say, that's a bit of a conflict of interest.
1:15:49Darius Butler:Still looks good.
1:15:50Pat McAfee:Yeah, he does. He said it was nice to see it come out of hand a little bit, actually, whenever he was talking about it. A.J. Brown also noted a huge Patriots fan growing up, So I assume this was like a childhood memory moment for A.J. Brown. And I'm sure A.J. Brown thought of some cryptic tweets to put out while he was playing catch with Tom, or some other people did, at least as soon as they saw this go, oh, no, this means postgame. It was nice and warm-ups to be able to catch a well-thrown football. You know, something like that. That's all I thought of. That's all I thought of when I was watching.
1:16:17Pat McAfee:I'm like, oh, no, Big Dom better get to the bottom of that. Also, why is Big Dom? Of course, Big Dom's here. People in Philly are saying, Big Dom, let's go ahead and not just play a little hanky-panky with Tom Brady. Let's also maybe go over to Petulo and say, hey, we need to go get some – let's go get some moots or out. Let's go see – Got some cinder blocks to move. Let's go see what you do, actually. Yeah. All right, let's move along. Philadelphia Eagles, interesting spot. AJ has a question for you, Shregs. Shregs, what about the Rams and Matthew Stafford? We know that you're tied into that whole organization, that franchise, Sean McVay.
1:16:50What do you think? Are they playing their best ball? Are we about to see this team get even better? because Matt Stafford looks very healthy, very comfortable. Obviously, Puka, the weapons, Devontae. What's your outlook for this Rams team right now? You just hope they're not peaking too early. What they're doing right now is a historic, historic run through the NFL. Listen to this stat I got today. They have not trailed since first quarter of the Baltimore game. That's five games in three quarters since they've been behind by any points at all. And that's against five teams that are currently in the playoffs, the Ravens, the Jags, the Saints, the Niners, the Seahawks, the Bucs.
1:17:25They don't trail Stafford. You saw 25 touchdowns, zero interceptions is the pace he's on right now. He's got 30 and two on the year. And Devante Adams seems to be going into the time machine and looks as good as ever looked. Then you go to the defensive side of the ball and they're menaces. They were all over Baker Mayfield and Teddy Bridgewater last night. And I tweeted today about Emmanuel Forbes, who is a guy that, you know, Ron Rivera took in the first round in Washington and was released by the commanders. Meanwhile, yesterday, he had seven targets at him, and there were zero passes completed.
1:17:59Emmanuel Forbes is playing like he's one of the best corners in all of football right now. This team is working on all cylinders. And then you get Thicker the Kicker, who they had yesterday. This guy doesn't miss either. So now you've got all three facets, and you've got your special teams issues seemingly taken care of. I don't know. AJ, I look at it, and it's like you just don't want to peak too soon because they are doing everything you could possibly want to do. It just might be a little too early right now. I guess. I don't know if you're needing me or not. If you're looking for a response or not, Shregs, but I feel like you could peak too soon.
1:18:31Just stay healthy. If you can find a way to keep your key guys healthy, you're going to be fine, Shregs. Look at that. We were just doing it. That was TV. That was TV, Pat. Yeah, I know. He said to my name. I thought so.
1:18:40Pat McAfee:I thought, yeah. I thought he was trying to throw it over to you there. AJ said, listen, I agree with everything you're saying. I agree with everything you're saying. But it is. It's fascinating. Shout out to Harrison Beavis. I think he went to Missouri, if I do recall. Obviously, throughout college, became the thicker kicker, kicker the thicker, whatever it is, because he's a big lad. He's a big lad. Pure swings yesterday. Pure ball flight. Wearing number 92. Respect. I don't like that McVay did that to him or whatever the case was, but we're talking like smooth, smooth ball flight, and I'm happy for him.
1:19:12Pat McAfee:I'm also happy for Matthew Stafford, and we talked about it in the first hour. You might know a little bit more. I listened. What was that super-duper trailer park thing you went into there? immortal yeah what is that what is the immortal do you know that was from training camp and everyone was making jokes like all right what's gonna happen with this thing i think sales have to be going up tenfold since the way he started the season i have no idea what that thing is i will tell you this i was hosting get up in late august and the debate we were having was should should the rams go with jimmy garoppolo to start the season over matthew stafford and it was a legitimate debate because we hadn't seen stafford take the field yet and it was like do you put a guy in and then collinsworth last night it's like you know i'm not gonna do a collinsworth impression but basically collinsworth was saying that they weren't sure could you though do you have one you know let me try this let me close my eyes let me try to because i remember him talking about it i think you remember talking about and you ask matthew about it and he says you know we start getting at this thing i'll give it a shot i'll try and sure enough here we are in week 12 he's having a career year at 37 yeah that was good mute tv i didn't hear it i didn't hear it Did it come through for you guys?
1:20:19Pat McAfee:Yeah. 500 broadcasts. Not at all. I don't know if I heard it. But yeah, you're right. Collinsworth did talk about it. I do recall him chatting about it, especially with the back position at the age that he was. There was a lot of questions. We were talking about the A-Mortal trailer as well at the time because he was supposed to come back and then he wasn't. Then he's supposed to be in pads. He was in shorts. And it was like, wait a minute. This seems a little bit scary. And I think at that point, they didn't really know either what was going to happen because it is the back. Well, you don't really know.
1:20:42Talking to those guys, there was not a, it wasn't arrogance, but it was a bit of like, dude, like relax. It's August. He's 37. Just he'll be fine. And then it got to like week two of the preseason, then week three of the preseason. And I'm talking to, to, to McVay in the front office, like those are the guys. And they're like, just calm down. Like, we're good. We're good. And so they had the utmost confidence. And yet, you know, I think it's fair to question when a quarterback doesn't take a single rep during practice in July and August. And they did the inner camp scrimmages with the, with the Cowboys.
1:21:11And from all, all All anyone who's there was saying was Jimmy G looked amazing. It was like, do you start the season with Jimmy G? It sounds so crazy now because Stafford is the runaway MVP and looks better than he ever has. It's almost a commercial for everyone saying take July and August off.
1:21:25Pat McAfee:As long as you're, you know, like you don't, don't, don't wear yourself out in training camp. Yeah. Yeah. No doubt. Waste of conversation, but it's always good to have the conversation, especially if it's all we have at the moment, which is what we do in the middle of training camp. And Matthew Stafford thing carried us for a couple of weeks too. I mean, we were looking into that entirety because we have so much respect. We were very worried. I was very worried, especially with how old he is. His back. And, yeah, we've seen other guys, especially with the back. Sciatica. Golf, you know. We just saw it with LeBron, yeah.
1:21:53Pat McAfee:The back is always one that's, like, kind of unpredictable. Them having the confidence that he's going to come back. And then talking about how he's playing, it's, like, better than ever. And he's got Devontae Adams who can just shake and have a two-way go. And then he's a runaway MVP favorite. You said it's kind of clear at this point. And then he has the number one scoring defense in the NFL. They're only giving up 16.3 points per game. It's like, what? Are there Rams? I think the, oh, Hembo, hello. The biggest differential between like interceptions and touchdowns in a season was Aaron Rodgers in 2020.
1:22:26What's up, Ty? He went 48 touchdowns, five interceptions. Stafford right now is 30 touchdowns, two interceptions. And he can maybe make that. And the one common thread between those, Devontae Adams was the receiver for both those guys.
1:22:40Pat McAfee:Yeah, and Devontae said he's having fun playing football. How could you not? You got to shake a guy and score a touchdown. Sound good? Yep, we'll do that all damn night. Matthew Stafford never misses. Okay, let's talk about another quarterback who obviously we all love. Go ahead, D-Bush.
1:22:55Adam Schefter:Yeah, I feel like everything we're talking about with the Rams right now, we probably expected to be talking about with the Ravens kind of coming into the season. Maybe Lamar being an MVP favorite. Maybe this team dominating on both sides of the ball. But that's not been the case. No, they got a win against the Jets sitting in six and five right now. Probably going to win that division. But what's your thoughts on the Ravens right now and kind of how it's going to play out for them down the stretch? Sorry. I think, like Belichick used to say, the season starts at Thanksgiving. It really does for the Ravens.
1:23:25They're right there, obviously, with the Steelers. And if they win the division, they get in the tournament. But if they are to make a run, look at this stretch they have coming up. They got the Bengals and Joe Burrow this weekend. Thanksgiving night, obviously national TV. Then they play Pittsburgh, Cincinnati again, then New England, then at Green Bay at Pittsburgh. So it's almost too soon for us to make a judgment on the 2025 Ravens in week 12, when you've got that slate again, Bengals twice, Steelers twice, Patriots Packers in the Packers game in Lambeau on December 27th. So to me, it's like, I've seen the teams get hot and go on the run.
1:24:01I followed the 07 Giants when they went as a 6 seed and they won it all. I saw the 2010 Packers with A.J. Hawk go on as a 6 seed, win it all. This could be that team. They're going to maybe win the division. That might be how they get in either way.
1:24:14Pat McAfee:Biggest eye roll of all time from A.J. on this back wall. He didn't like that. Did you even compare him? No, I think he just didn't know that you were going to mention them, I think. It wasn't an eye roll. It was more of like a side look and it was on this back wall here. Foxy, can you show the back wall? It was perfect for us. I don't think you expected to do that because that Giants team always gets talked about. But did I not even give you the name mention? Like, I didn't just say, like, the 2010 Packers. I gave you that love, too. I said Ryan Grant. Yeah. Oh, yeah, you're right. You know it all.
1:24:43I was not. I didn't roll my eyes. I don't know what it looked like, but yeah, I appreciate it.
1:24:46Pat McAfee:I think it was very surprised that you mentioned him is what I would say. Obviously, AJ's got a look, you know, to him. So whenever that changes, especially whenever Hold On, you just talked about our team. I don't know. That team never gets talked about in this conversation, Tregs, ever. Yeah. One of the hottest teams ever was that Packers team that came roaring down the stretch and then obviously won the Super Bowl in Dallas. That's what the Ravens, if the Ravens make the playoffs, they're going to have to go through this gauntlet and win these games. So we're going to all be high on the Ravens.
1:25:14And if they don't win their division, it's because they couldn't get a gun and they couldn't make it in, but they're probably not making it as a wild card. They're going to make it as a division winner. So I say all that, the season hasn't even really begun for them. And Lamar's health is a real question. The fact that he had 30 yards rushing, the fact that he can't do what he's used to do right now. And now that the grind of the December is about to hit and that the grind of January is about to hit, does he suddenly find that step? I don't know. So it's going to be really interesting to see what version of them we get over these next few weeks.
1:25:47And I do not take Thursday night with Joe Burrow coming into MNT lightly. I think Joe Burrow coming off the injury, playing against them on national television is something that I would be seriously concerned about if I'm a Ravens fan.
1:25:58Pat McAfee:That news has broke. Joe Burrow will be playing on Thanksgiving against the Baltimore Ravens. We're talking about AFC North Magic to cap off a beautiful Thanksgiving. Let's talk about the AFC a little bit more. Go ahead, Tone.
1:26:10Darius Butler:Yeah, Shreggs, you talked about the Ravens and maybe not making it as a wild card. And for the last few years, it's been Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, AFC. You're like, all right, one of them is going to win it. The Chiefs, even after their win yesterday, are still ranked 10th in the AFC. How many teams in the AFC do you think could actually win the AFC? Because I believe it's the most wide open it's been in probably a decade. Yeah, it's like the guys we know from the last few years and then these upstarts. So take those first four or those first, you know, one, three, two and five. Is anyone really picking, you know, and I say this Boston Connor with you not trying to insult you and Pat with the Colts, whatever.
1:26:47but it's like if it's Chiefs at Colts in the wild card round, like we had yesterday, like if it's.
1:26:54Pat McAfee:At Colts, we didn't have that yesterday, okay? I know. They were in Kansas City. They were not in the lighthouse. They were not in the lighthouse. And I want to let you know, I do think it changed the game a little bit. Okay? I do think maybe being out there in Kansas City, it's the home of the Chiefs. I think it's a little different than the lighthouse. But go ahead. To your point. But just you look at that, it's like, all right, so we've got Patriots as, say they are the one seed, and then the divisional round. We got the Bills at the Patriots, and they get another shot at that, and it's the third time they play.
1:27:29I bet you the Bills are favored in that game if Josh Allen's walking in there. Or Lamar Jackson going out to LA to play the Chargers after some of the losses the Chargers have had. Whether or not the stats are there, the numbers are there. I think the Lamar Jackson factor would give the Ravens the favorite. So it's this fascinating season of the guys we know, those three quarterbacks, of course, those three teams that are there and they're banging on the door every year. And then you've got these upstarts and it's like, okay, Bo Nix, we love what we saw against the Chiefs. We love what that defense does.
1:28:00We love everything about it. But when the rubber hits the road and it's January football, is it what we know in our back pocket, the Chiefs, the Bills, the Ravens? or is it this team that's been doing everything right, but are they ready to make that moment happen this year, year number two in the playoffs?
1:28:17Pat McAfee:You're talking about obviously the AFC right now. Ty actually had a point that we talked about during the break about teams this year with quarterback stuff. What was your thoughts about if you have an elite defense? Yeah, basically I think this is one of the years, one of the rare years where like now obviously the Rams would maybe buck this trend a little bit, but I don't think you necessarily have to have an elite quarterback to win the Super Bowl this year. I think we look at all the teams up there that we're talking about as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Now Drake is elite. For sure, for sure.
1:28:46But it's the defenses this year. Teams with unbelievable defenses are the ones that we're talking about week in, week out. And with this much parity, teams who have defenses that are that good, they're going to be in every single game. And then it's just a matter of can a guy like Bo Nix have his best game of the year when we already know what the defense is going to do. Yeah, I think it's such a great point. In 2025, every rule is built for the offense and to score points. And yet two teams in particular, Denver and Houston, have built their teams around defense and said, all right, we got, and I talk to Peyton all the time.
1:29:20I talked to Vance Joseph on my podcast last week. They have Mahomes twice a year. Mahomes owned them for years. It is no accident that they spent all their money in free agency over the past few years on bringing in Zach Allen and bringing in, you know, Hufanga and bringing in Drake Greenlaw. And then of course, drafting Jody Baron, despite the fact they already have Patrick Sartan. Like that's what you do to beat Mahomes. You have to build your team to beat Mahomes. Then you go to Houston. You've got Nick Casario there as the GM. They draft CJ Stroud, trades up to get Will Anderson. And then you look at what they did on the defensive side of the ball, whether it be bringing in Daniel Hunter or drafting Derek Stingley when there was obviously needs on offense, taking him third overall.
1:29:59Like these are moves that are made that are very intentional and saying, despite the league being telling us that, hey, air raid offense and have 50 touchdowns from your quarterback and score, score, score. Let's flip it on its head. Let's be the team that you got to beat and you got to beat us every single way because our defense is that good. That's the Broncos and the Bills. I'll be fascinated. I'm sorry, the Broncos and the Texans. I'll be fascinated to see if those two teams can do it the whole stretch of the way and then maybe find themselves playing in San Francisco this February.
1:30:25Pat McAfee:Another team you didn't mention there, Colts invested a lot on the defensive side, including two first-round draft picks in the future. And then Patrick Mahomes needs a four-and-a-half-minute drive and he gets it just no problem at all just right down there and then he gets ball back in and he does it so you know learning lessons as we get to and through meaningful football as you were saying everything you were saying and ty was saying what he was saying d-buddy played nine years in the nfl uh on the defensive side of the ball goes need a uh you're gonna need it indeed look
1:30:54Adam Schefter:defense you're gonna need the quarterback you definitely need a defense as well but you're gonna need i mean elite it's only what three or four probably elite quarterback but you're gonna to need one of those guys when it comes down to it's all good on november 24th and we're looking at standards and saying okay these are teams but somebody's gonna have to take that it's gonna be drake is it gonna be bo is it gonna be one of these guys who step up and have an elite run like joe flacco or somebody like that in the playoffs but you're gonna need elite quarterback play in
1:31:20Pat McAfee:the playoffs to get that chip on that note on that note connor congratulations drake may feels like one of those guys need one of those guys to do it all the different traits that you would need to be a guy feels like Drake has. And don't look now. I got a text from the Miz yesterday. Uh-oh. Shador? He's saying he's thinking maybe Browns' playoffs this year. Go ahead, Conrad. This year. Miz said, I did the math. This is during the game. He's at the game. No way. He lives in Vegas. He's at the game. He's texting me during the game. Relax, Fox. I did the math. I think we could still make the playoffs this year.
1:31:54Pat McAfee:This is how this should have been from the beginning is how they feel. Go ahead, Conrad. Yeah, hard not to feel that way. after watching him complete 11 passes, Schrags, what do you think about the Browns and Shador? Can they even go back to Gabriel at this point? It feels like no, especially while Gabriel was playing. Everybody was just asking him, like, hey, can you even throw the ball 20 yards down the field? And then Shador completes a 53-yard pass in a bucket. What do you think about that situation as a whole? And what do you think about Stefanski? People are kind of getting loud about his whole kind of demeanor as a head football coach.
1:32:27They have announced that he is starting.
1:32:29Pat McAfee:Boom. It has been announced that he's starting per sources, I do believe, which is good. That's what I was going to roll with. And I think it's very, it's, you stole my thunder. No, I just want to, this is new news. Cause we were actually talking with Schefter about like, Hey, how come he didn't come out and say that after the game? So this news being reported that it is being started. It's like, I just wanted you to know that that's on me. I apologize. It's fair. No, thank you. The, the thing is this, it's like, it's such a sensitive topic, obviously. And we could do all the different podcasts and everything that, you know, Shador is like such a lightning rod.
1:32:59here here's where you can look at it one the team never looked as alive and as fired up as they did yesterday miles garrett their top their top player was was was like so supportive isaiah bond on this pass that's a perfect pass you could also say he had a horrible interception in this game that was like ill-advised still took a while to get the ball out and that the raiders are bad so you look at it one of two ways i'm gonna go with the former here i'm gonna say let's take it for what it was the The team looked awesome. They looked fired up. And he made this pass and then the Samson screen pass that goes for 50 yards on this one.
1:33:30Oh, what a ball! What a ball! You could make the comment that he didn't do anything in this play. Guess what? He ran the offense and they had to do it and they got it done. That said, Raiders defense is atrocious. And I'm not taking it away from Shador, but I like the fact he did it on the Raiders who passed over him seven different times in the NFL draft. seven different times. The Raiders felt that they were better off without Shador Sanders, despite being connected there for so many months leading into the draft. He found a way he's going to start and he's going to go up against the Niners.
1:34:02And we could keep on doing this. What about is him? What about is him? Let's not do that. He did it yesterday. He won the game and he looked good. And that pass to Bond is as good as any that the Browns have completed all season long.
1:34:11Pat McAfee:Actually better. Yeah. So that's the best ball that they've had in two decades, they said, actually. Forgot Bond was there. Certainly mean exactly. As he catch, I'm like, oh yeah, very fast. I'm happy they're using them. That's good news. And to your point about the energy, it's like just caring at all about a Cleveland Browns game felt good for me. Just caring at all about what the outcome was. And then him getting a – and we talked about this in the first hour, and you're an on-field reporter like pretty regularly at this point. That was a gift to Tiffany Blackman, but go on, because he was so good in these interviews.
1:34:45Pat McAfee:Yes, he was afterwards, but also right before his first ever start as a fifth-round rookie. Somebody had to approve of that, right? Like the Browns had to approve of that happening and all of it. Get to interview the quarterback, yeah. Starting quarterback, you got to get. Here's what he said. Right before his first start, he's a fifth-round draft pick. I don't know if this is happening anywhere else. Shador, you told us that this week felt like you were getting back to normal, being a starting quarterback, like you have your whole career. But this is going to be your first NFL start. What does that opportunity feel like in this moment?
1:35:13Adam Schefter:Feels good, but we cool, calm, collective life. This ain't nothing to us. And what do you hope to show against this Raiders defense, your teammates, yourself, and these Browns fans with their play today? I'm who they've been looking for.
1:35:29Pat McAfee:Walk off. Appreciate it. Thank you. Goodbye. What a hilarious line. Like, even in that moment. Hell yeah. Like, I'm going to create it. This is a clip here. This is something like all that shit is not Cleveland Browns-like. None of it. So, it's like the interest of, yeah, if you're a Shador Sanders fan, man. It's like, thank God he's nothing like what the Browns have been.
1:35:47Adam Schefter:If you're a fan of football, you don't want anything to be what Cleveland Browns has been.
1:35:51Pat McAfee:Amen. Miles Garrett has 18 sacks right now. 18 sacks. He leads second by five. He's outrageous right now. So that has been good football for the Cleveland Browns. Joe Thomas got to his spot better than anybody in the history of football. But a lot of Cleveland Browns football is shite football. So Shador bringing any energy, I think, is a positive. But it was hard to find a lot of highlights to a run. So we ran the same plays over and over. It's his first start, middle of the season. I'm not going to go with Judy if
1:36:19Adam Schefter:Judy just kind of protected. Judy fumbled. And he can't control who he played. It wasn't his fault. They were up against a Raiders team. And by the way, Max Crosby is a pretty good player. And he was in his face the whole game. And their run defense is pretty good. You can't fault him for playing against a bad Raiders team. It's just who was on the schedule. And that same bad Raiders team looked at his draft profile seven different times and said, we're good. We don't want this guy. So I liked it from him. Harold Fannin. Hello beast.
1:36:45Pat McAfee:Yeah, absolutely. You know, there's another young quarterback. It's getting a lot of a chatter about him and I don't want to bring it up straight. Oh yeah. Have to that Minnesota Vikings team. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to reiterate the point and people are going to say we're echoing ourselves, but it is such a good point that it needs to be stated time and time again, that NFC was decided in the final week. by the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. They're playing for the number one overall team. Back. Coordinators back. Everything's back except for quarterback. Quarterback is new. Who you going with?
1:37:22Pat McAfee:Young guy. We drafted him early for a reason. He got hurt. Doesn't have a lot of reps. We were going all in around him. You got Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins. Rodgers was available. Aaron Rodgers allegedly was waiting to hear if they wanted him. A lot of quarterbacks, okay? A lot of quarterbacks that wanted that position because they know Kevin O 'Connell's offense. If you are able to get to your drop step, there's somebody going to be wide open. And it might be Justin Jefferson, the best wide receiver in all of football. So very fascinating how it's all unraveling right now and how nine is performing.
1:37:55Pat McAfee:He's also currently in the concussion protocol that just got announced via Ari Miravira via the team's, I would assume, website or social media account. How do you kind of view this entire nine situation with the Vikings? Because obviously yesterday, Micah and Green Bay Packers defense did their thing against them. 59, 52-yard field goals, half the points that they scored the entire night. What are your thoughts on the Vikings? Because they're supposed to be in it, I think everybody thinks or thought going into the season. Well, look, Jeff Halfley's defense put on a show yesterday in a fact that they had five net yards in the second half.
1:38:35And they were sacked five times, had two interceptions. And then both third and one and fourth and one in the first half. big moments in the red zone, like got stuffed. That's the game. And we're going to talk about it the rest of his career, sadly, until he turns it around. But JJ McCarthy was selected over Bo Nix and he was in a draft where there was other quarterbacks who are having great success. Drake May, Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels last year, and Michael Penix has shown flashes. So you're in that draft class. That's one bucket. Then the second bucket is the guys that you chose him over and Darnold could have been franchise tag this year.
1:39:10And McCarthy's salary is not exuberant. They could have had both those guys on the roster and they could have said, let's run it back. We came up just short. Let's do it. You could have also brought back Daniel Jones. You could have entertained Rogers and you could have said to McCarthy, we're going to wait one more year until you come off this injury. We're going to see. Hindsight's 2020, of course. We forget how bad those eight days were for Sam Darnold. Two of the worst performances that have cost one man more money in the history of the NFL than Sam Darnold's last eight days as a Viking. The Sunday night loss and then the Monday night loss where they lost to the Rams in Arizona, where if we were to have this conversation that Tuesday morning, and maybe we did, it was probably 99 % saying, all right, it was a nice story.
1:39:51It was a good ride. Sam Darnold was fun for a year for the Vikings, so we got to go to JJ. No, no. I would have said franchise tag. Let's split the baby. Let's do it. Let's see if we can get one more year here. keep JJ in the wings. Then year three, he's the guy if Sam doesn't. But truth of the matter is, they went all in on a draft pick that they traded up for the year before, and they were banking on what their pre-draft process was, the interviews and the coaching that O 'Connell and McCown can get the best out of this guy. Well, not only has he been a disappointment, but there's been health issues this year too.
1:40:24So now you're left with major question marks when obviously they had maybe the best quarterback room in football last year.
1:40:32Pat McAfee:Yeah, I understand what you're saying about the end of Darnold's days, and Seahawks were obviously reaping the benefit of Darnold going out there. Big win over the Titans for them yesterday. And the Minnesota Vikings sitting in a position where, are they going to have to admit something here? No, right? Can't.
1:40:46Darius Butler:Well, I'll tell you what, if Max Brosmer gets a start, we're looking at a Brock Purdy situation. Yeah, look out. He is not turning that ball back over.
1:40:53Pat McAfee:I mean, there's a chance, right?
1:40:54Darius Butler:No, there is. I'm being dead serious about it. Tell me about him because I got to be honest. I know the name, but give us the little profile. He was an FCS All-American at New Hampshire and then transferred to Minnesota. Had a really good year last year at Minnesota and then, you know, came to the Vikings this year. Can he spin it? Oh, yeah, yeah, he can spin.
1:41:13Pat McAfee:Can he run, too?
1:41:15Darius Butler:No, not much of a runner. Just more of a spinner.
1:41:17Pat McAfee:Okay, so he can spin it. So Kevin O 'Connell's offense, we're doing robot stuff. Yeah. We're in here. We're doing this entire thing. This could be a rock party situation. Could be. Yes. This could be a Brock pretty simple. If they admit fault, though, isn't that a fireable offense for the GM? You had this team that was ready to be the best team in the NFC, and now all of a sudden it's just like – I don't know, because I see a lot of people putting KOC into that, and I think that's getting way ahead of your skis. But if you're the GM, you traded up to draft this guy. You had everything kind of made, and you were ready to go.
1:41:51Again, you paid everybody on the defense. Your offense is kind of set with all the weapons, And then it was just like, yeah, you know what? Unfortunately, I fucked up the most important position in sports. So we're going to try something else. And it's also how it looks. Like we were told it was going to look good. And I agree. Like, okay, sure, they're not going to win. I was lied to you. We all knew they weren't going to win 14 games like last year. But we were told it was going to look good. You're going to call the Better Business Bureau. And we were told all training camp how great he was as well.
1:42:22It's not as if we – the expectation, I think, is also what has killed nine in the sense of how bad it looks because during training camp and all these people were coming on and saying, like, hey, nine's great. They're real confident in J.J. McCarthy right now. And maybe they were in training camp because he was playing against, you know, high school football defenses, but it just looks abysmal. Like, there's no hope. There was a couple good throws there. Not yesterday there wasn't.
1:42:49Darius Butler:Behind the line of scrimmage, maybe. I will say this. I just looked. Brosmer's first start next week. They have at Seattle, so that would be tough. Oh, that would be easy. Well, if you're the GM, that's a good move then. Can't protect Max Brosmer. You've got to throw him out there. Yeah, throw this guy in, and then you can say to the fan base, oh, this is the guy you want? This is the guy you want? I think we'll stick with nine. No, the postscript on it all, and I think I've said this before, maybe on this show, but the commanders thought Sam Darnold was coming at them last year, and at the last second, he's like, I'm actually going to go with O 'Connell and go with those guys.
1:43:19and they were like, well, all right, we'll pivot. We'll go with Mariota. But what a sliding doors moment. If Darnold was in Washington, never takes the field, and then all of a sudden it's Jaden from day one and we don't even know about Sam Darnold. And it's like, I don't know. It's just amazing how the NFL works and these moments that come and go.
1:43:36Pat McAfee:Butterfly effect, I believe, decisions. Yes, that's what it's called. Everything like that. Marcus Marigota, did we know? That was a sick hoodie you got on, by the way. Ohana? I got an Ohana hoodie. You got one? Shout out to Rob. Shout out to Rob and the Oregon equipment staff. They always hook it up. That's cool. Great air forces too. That have Ohana on it. You know? Damn. Yeah. Because it was celebrating Mariota going in there. He's tall. Do we know he was tall, tall? Oh yeah. I didn't know that. It was big. What? Six, four. Easy, right? Yeah. First thing I said to him was, holy shit. I didn't know you were tall, Paul.
1:44:06Pat McAfee:You're tall, tall. And he did. Yeah. I know. I know we're doing all NFL, Pat. Can I, I mean, that was incredible Saturday morning. The motorcycle. Oh my God, dude. And then landing, evolve with the shout. Like I say this as a, as a, as an objective viewer, not a sycophant, not to kiss your ass out of the way. Social media guy. This is all I'm saying. All right. Social media guy. We'll get the video. Don't worry. Someone's filming. There's a, there's a, there's a camera from the sky and a drone. We're good. We don't need social media guys filming this. Like, you know, here I used to wake up and look forward to Saturday night live every Saturday night and see who the cold open was going to be and who they were going to have.
1:44:48This is how I am now on Saturday mornings with these game day openings. They're incredible. You've now set the standard and the bar so high. I don't know where you guys are going on Saturday, but like the only thing left is to like jump out of a plane or to like jump off a mountain. I have nothing. I don't know what else you can do at this point.
1:45:03Pat McAfee:I appreciate that. Helicopter. Yeah, we could do a lot of things I guess. No, it's, I'm very thankful that Matt, who is the leader of the quack, kind of hooked it up. I think he had had belief that I could ride a motorcycle, so I can ride a motorcycle. my wife and I have it. Look at that hair. Yeah. I mean, the helmet was obviously pretty tight. I also, you know, there's a chance that that thing has an anti-fog screen on it, you know, but that just wasn't the case. And what I realized with the fog, the lights, and it was dark, and that kid's running backwards in front of me at one point, it's like, all right, there's a lot going on.
1:45:39Pat McAfee:There's a lot going on. And then I didn't do a test drive. The cover-up of the wires, plastic. Oh, yeah. Plus being a little moist in the morning. In my head, I didn't know those were going to be there. I should have known they were going to be there. I'm rolling through. I see those for the first time. I'm like, oh, no. This need to stay straight here. Then we turn left in there. So it was very cool for everybody to set that up. Miss Dana over at Oregon, the leader of the dance crew and I think stadium environment and mascot and everything like that. I appreciate her going to work for this whole thing.
1:46:11Pat McAfee:But, yeah, it was a lot of fun. Faso made a lot of calls. You know, Faso. Oh, yeah. Because we're second time in like three, four weeks. So if I just do the same thing and we went there last year and last year, it's like you can't just do the same thing every time. There's just something special. And it was the same end when you guys were in Utah, like that morning darkness. And I know it's not an easy thing for you guys to be doing these West Coast hours, especially on a Saturday morning. But like, gosh, there is nothing more electric than me on the East Coast with my son on the couch, turning it on.
1:46:42and it's dark as night and there's a full crowd there and you're going nuts with the smoke coming out. I loved it, bro. It was great.
1:46:48Pat McAfee:Okay, I appreciate the comment. That's very, very cool of you to say. And it was a lot of fun. And thank you to the Oregon people for their hospitality. Those are the Air Forces there, the Ohana Air Forces I had on. So they were very kind, very nice. And shout out to the kids showing up. We're there two times in like three weeks. Impressive. And they showed up in a big way, especially. There were critics. There were critics who said, you shouldn't have been there, Pat. Yeah. There was some other opportunities. Every week there are those. Every week there are those. But Dan Lanning and everybody are so kind.
1:47:18Pat McAfee:And being a part of a show that people want to come to their place is very cool. So I appreciate you saying that. And shout out to Oregon. Hey, they got a football team. Yeah, they do. They got a tough football team. They got a quarterback, too. I like that kid. Yeah, yeah. Dante's a stud. All right, last question here for you, Shrags, on this Overreaction Monday. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Shrags, before the season started, you came on the show and basically said, hey, the coaching change is in Detroit. I'm out. I don't think they're going to make the playoffs this year. You took a lot of heat. And then for a little bit there, you know, when Johnny Moe got his play calling duty stripped from him, you were, you know, maybe right, but you could probably argue they may have the best player in the NFL in Jameer Gibbs.
1:47:56Where do you stand on the Lions right now after, you know, not the prettiest of wins yesterday and then a tough one on Thursday against the Packers on Thanksgiving? Yeah, very good team and a very good offense and a very good running back in Jameer Gibbs who had three touchdowns and more than 230 yards from scrimmage yesterday, 50 yards from scrimmage. I think it's fair to say that they are an excellent team who's going to either win the division or be a wildcard contender and, of course, in the Super Bowl contention. It's also fair to say that when they go outside and play in Lambeau and they lose in week one and they go outside and lose to the Chiefs in Arrowhead and then a week ago playing against the Eagles coming up short, Like it's fair to ask whether this team is a team that is good or a team that is great.
1:48:41And I think the loss of Ben Johnson, it was a big storyline in the off season and I jumped on it and I was wrong. Dan Campbell can still get this offense going, but the fact that they've replaced their offensive coordinator already sort of justifies what I was fearing at the very least that, that maybe there is a gap in the play calling from Ben Johnson to what we thought was going to be Johnny Mo as the offensive coordinator. So I think both things can be true. I was wrong that the Lions were going to be flatter on offense. And I'm also right that let's see how they do as the season goes on and that Ben Johnson's a pretty good play caller as well.
1:49:15Pat McAfee:Jameer Gibbs was pined in the ground on that run. I mean, he was beating the shit out of the ground on that run. He's unbelievable. He's going into earth so hard. And obviously that's why he's so fast. He's explosive. I mean. He's like Pacheco, though. He's special. This guy's special talent. Yeah, running angry, but also incredibly fast. And Gibbs goes supersonic, not bad. You're from, you know, D-Bone. Graphic designers had a hell of a day today. Had a hell of a day today. They absolutely crushed it. But you talk about him being so fast. He's supposed to be a part of a duo, Sonic and Knuckles.
1:49:50Pat McAfee:It's seemingly becoming the Sonic show, and how could it not be with how good he is? I assume that's something that MCDC has to balance, Ty. Have you heard any comments from MCDC? Yeah, he basically said something along the lines of like, Listen, man, I'm trying to kind of balance this shit, give David his touches, but I don't even get to watch Jameer because every time I put him in the game, I look down, that motherfucker's already in the end zone. So, you know, I mean, hey, three clouds and a little bit of dust with Dave or 75 yards and a touchdown with Jameer Gibbs. I think you know which way I'm leaning, man.
1:50:23Yeah, it does. I was texting with Ty because the Packers, I think this is the biggest game for both those team seasons this week on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit, where the Lions have handled the Packers last couple of years, whatever. And then all this hype with the Packers defense, like, all right, here comes Jameer Gibbs. And I love this. I mean, everyone's talking about Chiefs Colts and of course Ravens Bengals, but like Packers Lions at one o 'clock on a Thanksgiving Thursday, like, let's go.
1:50:50Pat McAfee:Yeah, it's supposed to be noon. I think we all thought. Yeah, we all thought that was going to be noon. So we're trying to adjust, I guess. Thanks for having another hour of potential arguments to America. could have put the game on earlier so we could have the entire afternoon. Green Bay, Detroit on Fox. Kansas City, Dallas on CBS. Look at that slate. It's a good one. Cincinnati, Baltimore on NBC, and then Chicago and Philly on primetime. All playoff implicating type games. It's going to be a huge Thanksgiving. Schrags, we appreciate the hell out of you, brother. Bro, I love you. I love you guys.
1:51:23Pat McAfee:Thank you. This was awesome. Always is. Hey, you're killing it. We're watching. Ladies and gentlemen, Peter Schrager. Yay! Shraig! I'll tell you what, Shraig's on TV a lot doing good. Hosting, analyzing. Jack of all trades. He can do it all. The Shraiger hour. Oh, yeah. Well, how about whenever he's sitting down? The fireside chat. Yeah, yeah. The Shraiger chat. Yeah, you're talking about the Shraiger chat. Real artsy. Yeah, it is very artsy. And it's a one-shot. You know, he's talking to that camera. Why don't you come take a walk with me like this is Goodfellas through the kitchen. Let me explain to you what everything is.
1:51:52Pat McAfee:And he's got that really cool fire and everything's set up nice. Yeah, Shraig's doing his thing. The NFL is awesome. Yeah. Rolling. All right. Before we get out of here on ESPN, as we continue digitally, I think we should break down tonight's game a little bit. I think we should break down tonight's game. Carolina Panthers take on the San Francisco 49ers. Is the number still 7.5 on this evening's game?
1:52:15Darius Butler:Yes, it is.
1:52:16Pat McAfee:What's the percentage of bets on the San Francisco 49ers? It was 62 % last time we checked last hour. It is currently sitting at?
1:52:24Darius Butler:61%.
1:52:24Pat McAfee:Oh, no. The 60 % plus bets are something we get our stats from. Now it's at 61. Should we still take it seriously?
1:52:32Darius Butler:Yeah, you definitely have to.
1:52:33Pat McAfee:And what is 60 % of the bets this weekend?
1:52:36Darius Butler:So far this weekend, if a team is getting 60 % or more of the bets against the spread, they are 2-7-1 against the spread.
1:52:47Pat McAfee:So, that would tell you that the odds are against the San Francisco 49ers covering 7-1. D-Butt, your thoughts? We have 90 seconds left. Are we picking right now? I think you should give a pick. I think you could give – I mean, we're wasting valuable seconds right now because we don't have a lot of them. But I think you can give a little bit of a reasoning and then a pick, I think.
1:53:07Adam Schefter:Because of what Tone said, the betting numbers, and the last time we saw the San Francisco 49ers, they gave up 47 completions. I think Bryce Young would be just all right. Maybe win this game straight up, but definitely Panthers plus 7.5.
1:53:18Pat McAfee:Okay, that's Panthers plus 7.5 by Darius J. Butler. A.J. Hawk, you are 9-3-1 currently on Week 12 of the NFL against the spread. How do you see tonight going? I plan on going 10-3-1 by taking the Carolina Panthers here. Rico Dowdell hopefully gets a good chunk of carries and gets going early. I still like San Francisco and what they can do, but I like Carolina with those points. I'll tell you what, I'll feel the exact same way. That is not good that we all feel that way, but we all feel against the majority of the public. And I think that's because just like a couple different times this season, whether it's college ball or NFL, I think we know more about these teams potentially because we've been following them a little bit closer because we were either embroiled with beef with them or new introductions with them.
1:53:59Pat McAfee:So I think Carolina Panthers, pretty good team. I think they'll cover the 7.5. I still think the Niners get a win. And thank you to Week 12 of the NFL slate being spectacular. And thank you all for allowing us to do this for a living. We're the dumbest people on earth living the dumbest lives of all time. And it's because of you. So thank you all so much. Be your friend. Tell your friend something nice. It might change your life. We continue on digital. See you tomorrow. I feel like that was a pretty good one. Gave myself a little bit more runway. Had to fill a little bit more time. More than the first hour.
1:54:29Pat McAfee:Yeah, Schefter just kept going, but that was on me because I felt obligated to say something and I cut into his time. I think he had a clock and I kind of messed that up, so that's on me. What are we going to do about it? It was a great program, I think. We all like Carolina Plus 7.5. I think we all felt it this morning. I think we all kind of felt it this morning. And I don't know if you woke up the same way, but Connor actually came up to me and was like, hey, are you getting the same feeling that you had on Thursday? And it's like, no, I don't. And then the more and more I thought about it, I was like, I think I do, actually.
1:54:59Pat McAfee:A ton of points. Yeah, and also, I think we have more respect for Carolina than most people. Yes, we do. I think that's probably the case. That's what I was going to – like the people just remember past years of how bad they were when things were just in shambles. And if the Panthers haven't played your favorite team, You probably haven't watched them, definitely haven't had them in the quad box on Sunday. So you have no idea, and you just assume, like, oh, these are the guys who the owner's kind of an asshole, and all that stuff is kind of blown away. I mean, they're good. Look at the division.
1:55:31If they win tonight, they might make the playoffs this year. And I also think what you said is pretty accurate, too. I think anyone could see this game being like Niners 28, Carolina 24, 31-27. I think it's going to be a much better game than people anticipate.
1:55:48Darius Butler:The Panthers also do. I'm on the Panthers tonight. I'll say that. But they also have the ability to just go out there and lay in absolute.
1:55:55Pat McAfee:True. Happened. What was it? Falcons 40-9.
1:55:59Darius Butler:Bills. The Bills, and then they lost to the Saints.
1:56:02Pat McAfee:They have the ability. Yeah, this could be a Niners blowout. Could be. Brock Purdy could say, oh, you all forgot. You know, give me one of those. Or maybe a twofer. What game did we not talk a lot about? Falcons beat the Saints 24-10. Kirk Cousins is back celebrating with the boys. Kirk Cousins football is all the way back. Crazy that he was just kind of out of sight, out of mind for so long, getting paid as much as he's getting paid. It was the thought that he was going to get traded, go somewhere. Obviously, having B. John Robinson on your offense is good news. He is obviously filthy. But, yeah, Kirk Cousins gets a huge win for the Falcons, AJ.
1:56:36Pat McAfee:I like seeing Kirk spin it a little bit. How can you not? I mean, especially if you watched him at all on quarterback or whatever. How do you not root for this dude? He can still spin it. You're right. He had a couple unbelievable balls and all this. This is cool. Seeing him all juiced up. He hasn't had this feeling in a long time. This is the one right here. You're like, okay, here we go, Kirk. Right in stride. And the boys pick him up too. Offensive linemen pick him up and carry him around. He's an adult with kids getting picked up by another man. They're obviously super excited for Kirk because of the situation how he's handled it all.
1:57:06Adam Schefter:Absolutely. Good for Kirk being a pro, and I did not know Kirk still had that throw right there in his bag. So they're going to need him to stay competitive. No reps this year. Keep them flying warm. Yeah, no reps. Just like, you know, Shadour said, hey, one week of practice, getting the reps, getting the throw. I love to see that, especially with all of the weapons that was banged up and out of the lineup.
1:57:24Pat McAfee:Might have been a reset button for old Kirk, too. He might have been getting in his own head. Remember, he was making some shitty plays at the end of that run.
1:57:29Darius Butler:He led the league in interceptions last year.
1:57:31Pat McAfee:Yeah, there was a lot of, like, dumb, non-Kirk Cousins things happening in the game. and was that because of who was around him, because of what was being played, because whatever the case, we don't know. But nice little reset, little refresher, and Kirk Cousins reminds everybody there's a reason I was paid as much as I was paid. Patriots get a big win over the Bengals. That was closer than you guys liked up there or what? Yeah, definitely closer with the injuries. You kind of expected it because of how early on some things happened. Yeah, what happened? What happened? What happened? Jared Wilson right off the bat ankle.
1:57:57I mean, I think it was the first run of the game to Trevion Henderson, real tough. and then Will Campbell on a toss left, got a knee – or got a helmet to the knee, kind of a little bit to the side.
1:58:07Pat McAfee:And that's your left guard, left tackle. Yeah, that's left guard, left tackle. Both of them rookies. Yeah, both of them rookies. It was tough. Drake may, you know, drag us out of a hole, but we haven't played anybody, so who cares? My question for you more so would be, did you get any messages from any Bengals fans about their whole – excuse me – operation as far as, you know, people yelling stuff to you, whether it be in the morning on your way into work? that's funny anything just walks me to water yeah so as soon as i parked here uh outside the thunderdome this morning there was a cop pulling up to the stop sign that's kind of uh adjacent to the building here and uh hilarious you know i wave good morning and he has his uh intercom or whatever he goes can we bury zach taylor a little bit today and i thought i heard it i thought i heard it i was like what's that and he goes zach taylor need to hate him i go all right Okay, dude, thank you for your service.
1:59:00Pat McAfee:And then he turns away. It was a hilarious happenstance, but it was like, wow, Bengals fans, I guess they must be done with old Zach Taylor. Now, Joe Burrow coming back to play. Obviously, we assume team is going to be different with him. Marcus Jones, what a pick here. Just understanding everything that was about to happen in a play, basically.
1:59:16Adam Schefter:Yeah, cannot be late to the flat in the NFL. We talk about it all the time. When you are, that's what happens. Most explosive plays happen in the NFL along the sidelines, so that's what happened right here.
1:59:27Pat McAfee:Yeah, it felt like he was. Joe knew right when he threw it. Joe knew right when he threw it. Yeah, well, hashtag 10-7. That would be 14-10. Then there were some decisions made late, right, that people were confused by? Yeah, I mean, decisions, but also just like complete ineptitude. Like we had eight straight chances at the goal line to score a touchdown, and we got stopped all eight times. Absolutely despicable. And then when it was 23-20, once again, first and goal from the one-yard line for New England, and they just got stuffed. So there really wasn't any – yeah, I wasn't sure what you – Yeah, no, no.
1:59:59Pat McAfee:What's Zach Taylor? Why do they hate Zach Taylor? Oh, I don't know why they hate Zach Taylor. Honestly, while I was watching that game, it's like the Patriots have a top 10 defense. They don't have Jamar Chase. If Jamar Chase is in the game, that might help a little bit. T. Higgins also went down with a concussion. Feel as though the Cincinnati Bengals field also has cement underneath it like MetLife. I think there was 15 different injuries. But, I mean, I didn't really look towards Zach Taylor while watching that game like, this guy's a dipshit. It was more so like, one, this team's banged up and their best player spit on someone last week.
2:00:28They'd have their backup quarterback, Joe Flacco, who also got hurt during the game. Jake Brown came in and kind of was serviceable enough. But I wouldn't point to Zach Taylor. I feel as though Bengals fans are just trying to point to anybody but the offensive line and Duke Tobin and their decision to not pick the right guy to block for Joe Burrow. But once again, you do kind of have to blame someone. I personally feel as if Zach Taylor is a good coach, but if that's who they want to blame, that's who they want to blame.
2:00:55Pat McAfee:I don't know. The whole entire build of the team, it was like, obviously you get key injuries and it just ruins everything that they had going there. But where they chose to invest their money, everybody that has known football forever is like, that's not any level at this stage, how you kind of win in this whole thing. Now they've struck out at offensive line a couple times. They've struck out. They tried to get guys. They've struck out. Obviously, that stinks in it all, but I don't know, man. Eight goal line stands, you said? It actually ended up being 11 because we got to 26, and we did three straight plays stuffed, and we ended up having to kick the field goal to go 26-20.
2:01:37Pat McAfee:Bengals defense. Sean Lowe's backbone. Lowe scored 19 points. I mean, without the pick six, we lose that game. Grinch, they had a pick six too, but, yeah, Patriots, first team to 10 wins. You got to love it. Yeah, speed was up there, ruler of the jungle. Oh, yeah. See him hit a backflip with the thing? No. He had the thing in his hand, the sorcery stone. Yeah. Staff. Jungle staff. That thing? Sure. And he was getting them jacked off. Let's go, let's go. And then he hit a backflip with that thing. I thought it was very impressive because that should have hit the ground at some point. Did not. Stuck the landing.
2:02:09Pat McAfee:I don't know if you're supposed to do anything. It seems like there was nothing to kind of. As soon as you put it into something. Do you plant it into something? I don't know. I was looking around. That's a new thing. That's not like an old-school Bengals tradition. That's newer. I don't think you plant it because when Witt did it, he just went fucking nuts with it. So you just kind of hold it. Yeah. I mean, you should boom with fireworks. Yeah, but that costs money, which I think is what the Bengals fans should be pissed about. Look, here he is. So I'm looking on the ground to see if there's anywhere to put it, you know, or you're just out there doing it.
2:02:39Pat McAfee:I think Speed handled it properly, I would say. And then boom, bang. Jeez, that's impressive. That is impressive. Yeah, incredibly accurate. Six staff, too. So you just hold that thing. I didn't know if he was going to put it in the ground at some point. You should. Toss, just dab. Yeah. Yeah, they should jab. Lawn darts? Yeah, just try to. Or bring a fake Patriots mascot. Bring like a Patriots mascot. Just beat the hell out of him with it. That'd be sick. Maybe that's a stab of. Maybe there's something. Yeah. You know, like the other team, and then he stab kind of through. That's a good backflip, though.
2:03:10Pat McAfee:And heavy J's. Those are heavy J's. Those are not the most athletic J's. And he lands that thing on his feet. Doesn't do it. And it turns out they lose. But it's close. Patriots did their thing. What do we not talk enough about? College football. Huge weekend. Obviously, this weekend have a lot of rivalries. Friday's going to be loaded. Saturday's loaded with college ball. I mean, we are living in a very good time. Meaningful football. Store.patmacfashow.com. 25 % off because every game matters. And if you want to support Rep the Brand, we will certainly be thankful. and if you don't, we don't care either.
2:03:41Pat McAfee:We're very appreciative for the support. Don't feel obligated, but we'd love to see you out and about. Store.patmagicshow.com, 25 % off everything right now. Meaningful football games. College, very, very meaningful. Tone, what's the storyline?
2:03:52Darius Butler:Yeah, there was a lot of meaningful games this weekend, obviously in the lead-up to this week, which will be the last week of the year rivalry week before we get into conference championships. But let's start in Eugene, Oregon, where you were, where Oregon kind of took it to USC. USC came out and they did score the first touchdown of the game, but then Oregon kind of imposed their will a bit, and that's kind of what we talked about with Dan Lanning a lot. There you have Kenyon Sadiq with an incredible touchdown pass. Noah Whittington was incredible. The whole run game, that's kind of what Oregon's been based on, and they dominated and pulled away late to get a huge win there.
2:04:26Darius Butler:The other big one was Mizzou was going down to – Oh, I thought they were going to win. And if it wasn't for – So what? There was – there's a lot of questions about Oregon's – or sorry, Oklahoma's offense. There was this, what was it, like 93-yard touchdown early in the game. But, like, other than that, there was not a ton of offense in this game at all. It was low scoring. We didn't know what Pribula was going to be able to do. I was going to go with the Stanford Steve saying Pribula, but I don't like that.
2:04:55Pat McAfee:I think that's right, though, isn't it?
2:04:57Darius Butler:Yeah, it might be. Bo. Yeah, go with Bo. But, like, Oregon did just enough to get this win and then stay, obviously, in playoff contention. The other big one, BYU went to Cincinnati, where they basically just have to win to get in. It was close all game long. L.J. Martin, the running back for BYU, had over 200 yards, and they got a big win against Cincinnati. So now all they have to do is win this weekend. I believe they host UCF, and then they'll face Texas Tech in the Big 12 championship game if Texas Tech gets a big win against WVU on the road. I know.
2:05:29Pat McAfee:That's going to be tough. It's in Morgantown.
2:05:31Darius Butler:But right now it's looking like BYU-Texas Tech. And then I'd say the last game, the last thing that we should touch on is just Jeremiah Love. Stanford Steve said, hey, in these last two games, Jeremiah Love's going to run for 500 yards. That might not be wrong. He went at eight carries for 170, I believe. Eight? Eight. Eight carries. Three tuds. Three tuds, yes. And Notre Dame was up 21-0 before their offense touched the ball. They won 70 to whatever. So Jeremiah Love had a huge weekend. He is now number three in the Heisman odds moving up the charts.
2:06:00Pat McAfee:He's awesome. He was great on our show last week, and obviously he just is untackleable, seemingly. Those are high school stats.
2:06:07Adam Schefter:Syracuse do any sprints after the game?
2:06:09Darius Butler:No.
2:06:10Adam Schefter:Fran Brown was pretty defeated. He basically said, I want my team to be like that team. That's basically all he said post-game. He was pretty bummed out.
2:06:20Pat McAfee:He's bummed out. For good reason. Bummed out Brown is what they're saying.
2:06:23Darius Butler:And I got one more. If I forgot this, I would have been attacked again. Pitt had a huge win down at Georgia Tech, too. who now Georgia Tech does not control their fate for the ACC championship. Virginia does, and SMU does for the ACC championship. There is an ACC chaos scenario where if they lose, there's going to be like five teams tied at 6-2. But Pitt had a huge result there against Georgia Tech, and they host Miami this week. So the ACC is still up for grabs, but this was a big one in that conference.
2:06:51Pat McAfee:Yeah, we thought senior day, Haynes King, but we just saw it at Pitt the week before against Jeremiah Love, who once again had a huge day, multiple touchdowns. Instead, Pitt goes in there, Narduzzi goes in there and steals all the joy. And Pitt's still in it. Crazy to think Pitt is still in it. Heinz, shout out to him, bouncing back. Congrats to the Panthers. Did Mercer end up beating Auburn or no? I think it was close.
2:07:15Darius Butler:When it started? Auburn edged him out. Okay. Yeah, it was close for a good, what was it, 15? There was a lot of those SEC games. 15, 20 seconds.
2:07:22Pat McAfee:Well, I actually thought 27 and a half would be wrong. You know, I thought for the Superdog, I was down 20, and I saw a 27 and a half. And, yeah, I had myself believing that the Mercer Bears were going to win that one. They're 9-2 now. They lose their second game of the season by a lot.
2:07:44Darius Butler:14-14, first quarter.
2:07:45Pat McAfee:27 and a half just wasn't enough. It didn't appear to be enough. And I had a lot of Auburn people, because on the show, on game day, when I said, look for Mercer to cover and outright win. It's because I needed that. A cover is only five points. A win is the spread and five points. So I needed that to catch up. I believe Herbstre is in the lead right now. I believe he is pulling away. So I need a big one. So I put it in the universe that they were going to outright win. And Auburn people just took the quote and put it out there. And then all of a sudden I got a bunch of Auburn people saying, how did that Mercer game go?
2:08:16Pat McAfee:This guy doesn't fucking know ball.
2:08:18Darius Butler:You also didn't know that Auburn's five-star true freshman a quarterback was going to come in and run. I think he had three touchdowns and like 200 yards rushing. Now I know.
2:08:27Pat McAfee:And that's a big one for Alabama this weekend. Hey, good luck, Alabama. Got a tough one. Yep. Got a horn's nest on her. It's going to be crazy. Stanford's Andrew Luck had a massive win over Cal. Happy for them getting that. Maybe they're back on track.
2:08:42Adam Schefter:Maybe. Honestly, I would love to see Andrew Luck with the headset on.
2:08:45Pat McAfee:It felt like he did have the headset on.
2:08:48Adam Schefter:Exactly. You saw pregame you mentioned a pregame speech or the night before the game to the boys and then we all saw the live interview moment when the uh when the fumble got picked up and took to the house love seeing him live just but I would love to see him I think Frank Wright or it's already come out that he'll be stepping down after this season as a coach I believe I heard that some weeks ago I would love to hear and see Andrew Luck on the sideline as a coach maybe bring Stanford back you think Andrew Luck is GM head coach uh I think he I think someone else could do the GM thing I I would love to see him because we know how he is as far as his mind when it comes to ball and then the competitor that he is as well.
2:09:24Adam Schefter:So I would love to see him kind of just, you know, giving it back to the boys through that program. And me and Ty were talking about it before the show. I don't know if they'll ever be on the same level as these other bigger programs with the NIL stuff because you said they have to. Yeah, I don't know if that's real, but, like, they're one of the few schools who, like, it actually matters because, like, they're going to have Olympians and, like, swimming and diving and stuff like that. Like, that stuff still very much matters. You're talking about rev share? Yeah, exactly.
2:09:49Pat McAfee:Yeah, where the money's allocated towards everything like that. Yeah. Yeah, because they do love their Olympics. Exactly. Which is obviously huge. Andrew Luck, yeah, I think it was the practice the night before they showed it on game day. He was fired up talking about him. And then on the sideline while he's giving that interview, he's like, while he's talking, he's watching back at the game. It's like, this guy's super invested. Like, general manager, super invested. In an age, him saying, let's get him coaching again. Maybe Andrew Luck is coaching this Stanford team next year going forward. Yeah.
2:10:16Don't you think his postgame and his weekly press conference, he'd be awesome because he does seem like he's very open. He would let you know how he feels, and he's so weirdly smart. I just like hearing him talk football any time he – yeah, I've always been a huge fan of him. I know you played with him, but just hearing him talk football, he seems like he's light years ahead of a lot of people. Loves ball. I mean, absolutely. You can tell. I mean, just that sideline interview, come on now. I'd give him the job right there.
2:10:41Pat McAfee:Yeah, and good luck to him with Stanford. Obviously, it's a big brand. And I don't know if they've ever got more than 100 people in the stands for any other game other than Cal. But if anybody could do it, Andrew could definitely do it. So good luck to them. And then obviously the big storyline still in college ball is, where the hell is Lane Kiffin going? Where's Lane Kiffin going? Because obviously that sets off a dominoes for everywhere else and everything else. They got a massive game against Mississippi State coming up this Friday at the Egg Bowl. He is set to make the announcement, I guess, on Saturday with the athletic director.
2:11:11Pat McAfee:The athletic director has come out and said, Coach Kiffin and I, or vice chancellor, I'm sorry. Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce. While we discuss next step, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important, our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion. Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday's game.
2:11:41Pat McAfee:This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it's imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead. An announcement on Coach Kiffin's future is expected Saturday following the Egg Bowl. That's letting our fans know, can we get through this week, please? And then what we all want to know. That's the school sticking up for Kiffin because Coach Kiffin would like a little bit of time probably. Like, hey, can I get some time here to potentially think about this? I'm also in the biggest position I've been in in some time, and our school has never been in this situation.
2:12:12Pat McAfee:So I know there's a lot of everything. Everybody wants me to answer everything, including fans of Ole Miss, because when Transfer Portal is what everything else is. Can we just worry about what we got going on right now for me? Now, is everybody around him that's doing the business of football certainly getting all the information? Definitely. But I think what this is is Lane meeting with the chancellor and everything going like, I would like to not have to worry about all this right now. Can we just put together the best season that we've ever had? And can we beat Mississippi State? And then I'll give you an answer on Saturday.
2:12:40Pat McAfee:I think that was the, can I please just get through this game and figure out what the hell I want to do, and then I'll give you an answer the next day, or we'll give a little bit of, I think that's what that was from the Chancellor and probably from Lane Kiffin.
2:12:52Darius Butler:Very much so, and it's funny you say that, because Winnidad Jambliss actually just put out a tweet, I think like an hour or so ago, that basically said the similar thing right here from Trinidad. To our fans, this team is completely locked in, living in the moment, and staying true to our 1-0 mindset for the Egg Bowl in future games. We are unbothered by anything about next year and fully trusting Coach Kiffin's leadership it to keep us moving toward our goals. So that's feels like the message coming out of Ole Miss right now.
2:13:13Pat McAfee:Everybody's like, hey, can you fucking let us play this game at least? And then we'll get an answer for everybody. We get it. We get it. We get it. Okay? But can we please... That's what that sounds like and I'm happy they're doing that. But Ole Miss fans, Florida fans, LSU fans, any of these other places are like, yeah, yeah, good luck in the Egg Bowl.
2:13:30You think he knows?
2:13:33Pat McAfee:I don't. I don't think he knows. AJ already told us. Is this the ultimatum that we were talking about? The Saturday presser? that's the ultimatum you got to make up your mind one way or the other there was never an ultimatum but i do think i know i know but okay okay but but just to kind of counter that i do think probably all parties were like hey we need an answer like i assume everybody is saying the same thing you know so i don't know if it's an ultimatum put on them but i would assume all parties are like we need the fuck because we got to move we and then guess what's going to happen whenever the other
2:14:06Darius Butler:place moves there's gonna be another coach in like they're like basically like hey we need an
2:14:10Pat McAfee:answer at some fucking point here we're gonna need this because when the transfer portal is for like what football is now to nick saban's point that he put out very well on college game it's like the calendar and the schedule right now completely fucks the teams in this situation because like the coach staying with his team is just not going to be possible and there's going to be a lot of teams that are going to be in the 9 10 11 12 spot that might not be a blue blood and their coach is probably going to have a lot of attention on them and how many times this is going to happen going forward in the playoffs probably pretty regularly with how everything's kind of set up right now so there's a lot of shit that has to kind of get figured out obviously and everybody coach Saban's coming from the coach's angle coach Saban's like you're damned if you do damned like this is not a you can't do this from the players perspective it's like we need to know what the hell is going on, even though Winnedad says we're not focused by it.
2:15:04Pat McAfee:And from the fans' perspective, they're like, we need to know that you're focused on the most important part of the season, which is the transfer portal. Which really is the most important part of basically every single offseason now.
2:15:14Darius Butler:Yeah, let's just say, hypothetically, Lane decides to go to LSU or Florida. And like, Ole Miss is going to be... Can he coach the playoffs? Yeah, but here's the thing. Playoffs are December 19th and 20th, and I think the next round is the 31st and the first, that's when the transfer portal was. So, like, are you going to be coaching Ole Miss while doing the transfer portal stuff for LSU or Florida?
2:15:38Pat McAfee:And everybody says the transfer portal was just crazy speed dating for, like, three, four days where you got to try to learn as much as you possibly can about everybody, find out the price, and then, boom, you're moving on. So it's like the new schools are like, we need you fully focused on the shit what we're doing next year. And then Ole Miss could potentially be like, yeah, we need our new coach to know what the hell they're going to. It's just a bad situation. And with those guidelines. What if they're seventh in the college football playoff, but then they come out and Lane Kiffin's not going to be their coach and the college football playoff committee's like, you know what?
2:16:10Fuck it. Let's put BYU and Texas Tech in. We don't need Ole Miss. Don't even have a coach.
2:16:15Pat McAfee:They can't do that. They can do that. They put that in the clause at the bottom. The clause is the clause. That'd be very unfair to them. The ball on's a ball on. Yeah. That'd be very unfair. It's a shitty. And what if Trinidad's going with them? I love that tweet. That's the Ole Miss fans. I mentioned that on game day. I was like, because that's a real thought. Because the Ole Miss fans are like, oh, so not only are you leaving, you're going to take our entire good team. And Lacey. Oh, man. For sure. 19. If he does leave, I think they are going with him. You don't know who the next coach is going to be.
2:16:52Pat McAfee:No, certainly not. Might come in and woo him. Could be Chuck Weiss Jr. Might come in and woo him. You never know what's going to happen. Woo, woo, woo, next coach, maybe who? I don't love the setup for him, but I'd like to reiterate my fact or point that I made on game day. It's like he's allowed to be happy, dude. And he's also allowed to let them figure out this whole thing and not be the person that gets thrown into the first fire. Will there be other jobs that open up in the future, you think? No, this is it. This is the last year any college football coaches are being fired. So maybe he does have to make a decision right now.
2:17:28Pat McAfee:Forever. Yeah, for the next 50 years. There's never been this many big jobs available this early, I feel like. Yeah, and will that continue or not? Probably not, right? We assume that everybody saw what happened whenever Penn State let go of James Franklin and then every candidate for their job signed a new deal for more money than ever before. So maybe they'll wait for the firings until later. Maybe that'll be a forced decision. But if you wait until later, then who's controlling transfer portal? You're behind April.
2:17:53Adam Schefter:There's just no answer.
2:17:56Pat McAfee:Now, Coach Saban, I think, I don't know who said it. I think it was Coach Saban who said it, but I don't want to, I don't know if this is his exact thing. Somebody said it in a conversation. Coach Saban was part of the conversation. I think it was Coach Saban's brain. But if they would have kept the spring transfer portal, and instead of doing spring ball, just do summer and do workouts through and just go into training camp, you know, because nobody's really doing spring ball anymore. Nobody does a spring game anymore. Everybody's scared to death of spring. So if you do a spring transfer portal and then you give more time before season to build team.
2:18:31Pat McAfee:Because the thing that was bad about the spring transfer portal was there's no time before training camp, basically. Spring ball is already over. So now we've got nothing with these guys except for summer workouts and then training camp. So I think the answer to that would be spring transfer portal so that you don't have these issues with the whole thing. And then you would have to build up some sort of summer into training camp program and what the rules and guidelines would be. But in some of these places, it's 175 degrees in the middle of the summer. So, you know, how they handle all of it.
2:19:01Pat McAfee:And then schooling is involved in this, obviously, because it matters. A lot of these players making 15x what their teachers are making in the classes that they're in. What are we going to school for to have a job? Have one. But I'll certainly respect what you're saying. I appreciate that. School matters. Always will. Get smart. You have a degree? Yep. AJ, you have a degree? Yeah. You guys are awesome. You have a degree? Mm-hmm. Connor, you have a degree? I don't know, man. I got a freaking D minus in French. So you still don't know if you graduate? I'm not sure. That's awesome. That's kind of a conundrum.
2:19:38I got this hat, so I know that. If I pull it, everything's going to fucking fall.
2:19:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, we saw his graduation. Yeah. Did you graduate? Did you graduate? Yeah. Foxy, did you graduate? Yes, sir. Bruce, did you graduate? Yeah. Nick, how many times did you graduate?
2:19:56Darius Butler:Twice, actually.
2:19:58Pat McAfee:Gumpy.
2:20:00Darius Butler:Hell yeah, brother. School of hard knocks, baby. Hell yeah, Gump. And Mitt.
2:20:06Adam Schefter:Whoa.
2:20:08Pat McAfee:Mitt didn't get his degree? I don't know if DePaul gave him one or not. He did not, though. It might have been one of those songs.
2:20:12Adam Schefter:Mitt got his degree. I do not believe he did. He got his master's thought.
2:20:16Pat McAfee:He got his booze and degree. Yeah, exactly. All right, college game day this weekend. It's headed to Ann Arbor for, obviously, the game. How do you feel, AJ, about this one? Obviously, it's been a long time since the Buckeyes have beat the Michigan Wolverines. This one's up in Michigan. How do you feel going in? This feels like your best chance to maybe stop the trend of you guys losing to that team from up north. Uh-oh. Yeah, I mean, I feel pretty good. Obviously, Cardinal Tate, Jeremiah Smith not playing this past week. It makes people worry a little bit, I guess. But hopefully they will be ready to roll in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
2:20:51But no, we, yeah, this is, the season starts now for Ohio State. We know that. This is the biggest game and got to find a way to take care of business here and then continue to roll when it truly matters.
2:21:02Pat McAfee:I can't wait to get up there. I don't, for some reason, I always think it's not going to be good at Michigan. And then we get there and we're in like a tailgating parking lot and it's like very good. The vibes are always immaculate. And then we get into the stadium, it's just electrifying in there. So very pumped to get up there. Cannot wait to celebrate the Big Ten wrapping up its season here. and the Ohio State Buckeyes dominating year, can it be derailed once again from the Michigan Wolverines? Ooh.
2:21:33Pat McAfee:Football. Hey, it's magical. That's A.J. Hawk. The Talks at the Table is here at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer. Done. Cowboys AP. Tony's here, a nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler. The boys behind the glass are obviously kicking ass on this particular overreaction Monday. We appreciate that. We also know that the internet has been doing its thing. I put out a tweet this morning, like I do every single Monday of football season, asking for people to send in their thoughts, their emotions, their feelings about their favorite football team. All you got to use is... I don't want to overreact.
2:22:04But...
2:22:05Pat McAfee:This morning was an act of one. Obviously, there's a lot of different feelings from a lot of different teams and a lot of different communities. Ty, you go through these every single week and pick out your favorites. I believe we have 12 of them today. What was the kind of the narrative or the sense today, Ty? I'd say quite a few teams have kind of just given up, and they just don't feel like overreacting anymore. Really? Yeah, it's getting a lot harder to find some of those ones. And then you have days like today where it seems like no matter how many scrolls you have, it's just a lot of people are upset with the Eagles and a lot of people are upset with the Steelers.
2:22:37So, like, that was a lot of it. Shout out Pennsylvania football. Yeah, exactly.
2:22:41Pat McAfee:Yeah, because Ohio football fans would be the same way, but their teams are where they are. Exactly. So that is kind of how it goes with that. tribe of people or peoples. Let's dive into these overreactions, shall we? This is from Tone Diggs from Pittsburgh. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but I'm going to tie my feet to cinder blocks and accidentally drop a 30-pound frozen turkey into the biggest pot of boiling oil I can find because that will be less painful than having to watch another snap of the team that calls themselves the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hashtag, important one here, don't drink and drive.
2:23:13Pat McAfee:Hashtag, happy Thanksgiving. Tony, do you think you're overreacting in this moment or not?
2:23:18Darius Butler:No, I don't. And this also is a bit of a dual threat overreaction tweet. It's, one, it's getting my point across about how disgusted I am about the current state of the Pittsburgh Steelers while also reminding people, hey, happy Thanksgiving. It's Thanksgiving week. Don't drink and drive Wednesday night because it's a big drink and drive night for all you college kids. Call an Uber, please. And also, if you haven't seen the fire safety videos, be careful. You cannot drop a frozen turkey into a pot of boiling oil because then the whole house catches on fire.
2:23:46Pat McAfee:But overall – And also cinder blocks to your feet. So that I would die. Skip no part.
2:23:50Darius Butler:So that I couldn't get away so that the oil would get on me. I would catch on fire so that I don't have to watch Josh Allen drag his balls across the Steelers' face after 10 days rest after the worst game that he's ever played.
2:24:02Pat McAfee:Got you. Lipton T-type situation potentially around the corner. And I appreciate you said this thing has layers now. Let's not just read the – this is layered. There's a bunch of different ways to kind of end it. And then watching the Steelers, I'd rather do less than all those things. And it's because you knew that the team wasn't going to go, and every week you're trying to prove that fact? Or do you think you guys are just bad fans? You guys are 6-5, still in the middle of the playoff hunt. Aaron Rodgers coming back healthy next week. You guys still have it all in front of your team. Invested$30 million in a wide receiver.
2:24:33Pat McAfee:Trade made some big trades. Do you not think maybe you guys should just be pumped up about the whole entire journey of the Pittsburgh Steelers this year?
2:24:39Darius Butler:Kind of, but it's also because I'm a fucking idiot, and I had hope going into this game. I said, oh, the boys are playing all right right now. The Bears, you know, they might be a paper tiger, okay, and we're going to be able to prove that on Sunday. No, we were not. We're the more of the paper tiger, the worst of the paper tigers, the tracing paper where you can barely – you can see through the paper. That's what the Pittsburgh Steelers are right now. It's a mess. I let them play with my emotions every single week and season and just for the same shit to happen every single year.
2:25:07Pat McAfee:A lot of people giving up, right?
2:25:09Darius Butler:Yep. Six and five?
2:25:11Pat McAfee:Six and five? Eddie Tone?
2:25:14Darius Butler:AJ? What? Did you watch any of the game? Yeah, of course. What do you mean? They could have won that game.
2:25:19Pat McAfee:Could have. Okay, but we all kind of knew, which is what I think Steelers fans are saying. That's what Steelers fans are kind of saying.
2:25:25Darius Butler:It's like the same dumb shit happens. We're up, I think it was 14-7. We're on the 30 going in. Run the worst tush push of all time. So instead of going up 21-7, they get the ball and then go back and make it 14-14. So it's like, oh, that's exactly what's going to happen.
2:25:39Pat McAfee:But didn't you guys have an innovative tush push?
2:25:41Darius Butler:We did have a sick, innovative tush push from Kenneth Gainwell. He got down to the one, and then we scored on the next play. That was sick. That was cool. That was something that we don't normally do.
2:25:49Pat McAfee:Steelers fans are certainly going through it, and they have been all season, especially with the ride that it's been. And Aaron Rodgers would say R-E-L-A-X, dude. Why don't we relax? We've still got a lot of games left. But Pittsburgh fans also going through it because you remember talking about rides a couple weeks ago? It was said that the Pittsburgh Pirates were possibly maybe going to be primed up to make a deal of$80 million for free agent signing. and I literally in real time once reading this headline said that's not real that sounds fake how is that even possible that they were ready to almost potentially prime up a multi-million dollar offer that they've never done before oh well the guy signed to the other place but they were going to make the offer that's exciting turns out that's all bullshit they were never going to do anything never forced to do anything this all came together so quick we didn't even get a chance to really wrap our minds about it but maybe maybe they're going to.
2:26:41Darius Butler:We're just going to trust what the athletic puts out now? That's a fair question.
2:26:44Pat McAfee:A lot of journalism stuff happening right now all around us. Let's just keep it moving. All I'm saying is the Inzer fans, it's all angles. But the pens, good? So good. Okay. Thank you, Douglas. Riverhounds. Riverhounds just won the whole goddamn thing. 0-0. Won the whole thing. Wow. Yeah. That's soccer, right? Yeah, Riverhounds just won the USL, brother. That was on TV, actually. I saw a little bit of it on TV, I believe, this weekend. CBS, yes. I watched it as well. That thing went to penalties after a really cagey 0-0 affair. The Riverhounds goalie was standing on his head basically all damn USL season, certainly through the USL playoffs.
2:27:26Pat McAfee:And it goes to penalties. Local Pittsburgh guy, Meister, I believe is his name. Is that Meister's last name? Pittsburgh kid, 1 ,000 % Claire. Very good player. He had a penalty scored. I think all the boys did. So, yeah, congrats to Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Pittsburgh Penguins are good. Pirates are maybe potentially going to possibly think about maybe spending money sometime because they got the Cy Young pitcher. And the Pittsburgh Steelers are still 6-5. They're still 6-5. There's Pittsburgh Riverhounds right there. Champions. What's the USL? Is this affiliated with the other one? No, so the MLS is the MLS.
2:28:01Pat McAfee:And then the USL, I believe, would be considered the one right below. So if this was in relegation world, like in the England area, I believe the Riverhounds would be going up to the Premier League and then three of the bottom teams would be going down to this particular league. But there's no relegation. There's owners who've spent money on MLS teams and owners that haven't spent money on MLS teams. So the owners that spend the money on MLS teams are saying, why would we ever in a million years agree to potentially go to a smaller league? We wouldn't. England has that because it's been hundreds of years.
2:28:32Pat McAfee:That's how they do it. We're not signing up for that, even though everybody in America thinks it would be awesome for American sports. And the Pittsburgh Riverhounds probably win the MLS if the Vancouver Whitecaps don't. Did you see this? I don't think so. Buddy. Burrhalter.
2:28:47Adam Schefter:What day was this?
2:28:48Pat McAfee:MLS. Saturday night.
2:28:50Adam Schefter:Inter's going to win that.
2:28:51Pat McAfee:No, Vancouver's got the best ball striker in the history of the United States of America named Sebastian Burrhalter. This guy is the boy of Greg Burrhalter. This boy is a player. And they won in penalties over the weekend against another team.
2:29:04Darius Butler:LAFC. There it is. They're good. Two of the best teams. They got Sonny from Tottenham Hotspurs. Paid him like$15 million to get him to LA. He scored two. Scored a free kick in the 95th to tie it. Where are they getting that money? I did see that. That free kick was absurd. Whitecaps won it in penalties. Berhalter took the first one.
2:29:23Pat McAfee:Berhalter's a guy. We need to just know this. When the World Cup comes around, we are going to be pumped that we know Berhalter. I think he's going to make a couple free kicks. in the World Cup. I think he'll probably potentially take shirt off at some point. I think he's got a 14-pack. Very, very handsome. Loves America. Loves America. Was born in London. His dad, American, playing for Crystal Palace. Obviously, all that stuff. But he's very proud to be an American, which is what we need on this team. He's not the only one a bunch are. And he was on the Concafa pod. And him, Gumpy, and Jeff Cameron were having a conversation, which is really cool.
2:29:56Pat McAfee:They're becoming like a U.S. men's national team podcast, basically, which is very awesome. But I went in there to talk to him, and I said, hey, it feels like your team, we're not going to be just flopping all over the place, right? America doesn't like whenever our team flops. He goes, absolutely not. We've got dogs everywhere. We're not floppers. Like, that's what he said. It's like a point. They got in a fight two games ago. It's like. Oh, yeah, I saw some of that. Are we favorites to win the World Cup? We should be, but we're not. People are sleeping on us. People are sleeping on America. That's right where we want to be.
2:30:24That's right where we want to be.
2:30:25Pat McAfee:But remember, Ponchettino gets hired very late in the World Cup cycle to become the U.S. men's national team coach. Ponchettino has had success in the past and is a dog. English is certainly his second language, but it was very late, and everybody thought the U.S. men's national team was kind of ruining it. But he had a mindset the entire time, like, I don't care about the Gold Cup. I don't care about the Super Duper Cup. I don't care about this other cup. I care about the World Cup. And he was trying to find his team and set in the culture. And I think they found a company. Wouldn't we all agree with that?
2:30:50Pat McAfee:I think that is legit. And it's, we're not floppers. We're dogs. And we are very proud to be an American. That is kind of what it feels like.
2:30:57Darius Butler:Yeah, they're a very talented bunch. And the key part is here, they're in pot one for the draw because they're a host. So you get a nice favorable draw to get into the knockout round and then just take off from there.
2:31:08Pat McAfee:And if you get into the knockout round, obviously, that's when you can just start really taking over, gaining steam. From Luna to obviously Berhalter, we still got Pulisic, who will be a player.
2:31:19Darius Butler:We got studs. He scored. Pulisic scored a massive goal in the Milan derby yesterday too. Like everyone's balling right now. And the goalie. Aren't both of our goalies good? Freeze stood on his head last night for NYCFC to make a massive upset in the MLS Cup as well.
2:31:35Pat McAfee:Yeah, so I think we have – and our team will fight you, which I think is all we really want. Most important. Yeah. We're not flopping around. You actually quote-tweeted the Concafa clip and said, if this team's not flopping, I can be back in on them. And I think that's a real thing. Yeah, I don't really care if we win or lose, but if we go out there and we look soft and lose, that's a problem. If we go out there and beat the fuck out of teams and then lose, let's go soccer. Like, I'm in on that. Let's go soccer. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead, AJ. You feel the same way. No, I'm saying they're going to – the score doesn't matter.
2:32:04As long as, like, you know you played the U.S. team. Like, you're beat up pretty good. Hopefully we win the game. But you want to be that team that everybody is scared to play because they're physically intimidated by how – your pace of play and the pressure you put on.
2:32:16Pat McAfee:Pace of play. Isn't that a thing with Ponch? Ponch has a relentless pace of play. Like, kind of like Carlisle. Kind of like Carlisle. We run people off the field. He's not the best coach in the world. Who's that? Ponch. Ponch Ponchettino. The best of all time. Much better than Poop Guardiola. Oh, you're saying bad things about Poop Guardiola? I don't think you know Pep at all. No, I don't. I know a lot of people would consider him the greatest skipper of all time, but he's no Ponch Ponchettino. I know that. I know that. You know, Ponch Ponchettino actually played in-coach at Burnley at one point.
2:32:48Darius Butler:No big deal.
2:32:49Pat McAfee:No. Yeah?
2:32:50Darius Butler:Espanol. Oh, shit. Thank God. Okay. Oh, my God. Can't be bringing Burnley tactics. I mean, all of a sudden.
2:32:58Pat McAfee:Me too, actually. That is much better. No offense, Burnley. Yeah, respect. Respect, respect, respect. What position? All of them. Whichever one you need. Yeah, the most important ones. Yeah.
2:33:10Adam Schefter:Or primarily center back. I know what those are.
2:33:12Pat McAfee:Did you hear him talk to the media? No. Oh, it was awesome. You should. You would like him. I do like him. I love him. No, but you would like to hear him. I love him. I don't care what he has to say. Absolutely not. Until the World Cup, I certainly will not be looking at anything. Like Berhalter, I love this guy. I don't give a rat's ass until he's dawning the stars and stripes. Good luck to the White Cap. I'm just telling you to give a little prep here. These are some names. It doesn't find its way to my algorithm. I don't know why. I don't know why. I'm hoping Ponchettino, Ponchettino, Ponchettino.
2:33:47I'll take all the Ponch Ponchettino I can stomach.
2:33:50Pat McAfee:You remember the Elko press interaction a few weeks ago? Yes. Ponchettino, same thing, and English second language. So him trying to find words to tell these people they need to fucking. I do like that. Yeah, I'll tell you, it is. I'll watch it after the show. And he loves America. He loves America. Talks about the greatest job, the whole thing. It's like, all right, dude, let's go win this thing. It's in America. And you said the hype is real down in South Florida, obviously.
2:34:14Adam Schefter:Oh, yeah, absolutely. I mean, obviously it's a melting pot. A lot of people from a lot of different parts of the world, but people are very, very excited. I have to believe it. Shit, maybe last night my driver was telling me it's going to be seven games here or seven different places or something like that, seven or eight. So, yeah, they're excited.
2:34:28Darius Butler:All the games are here. What?
2:34:29Adam Schefter:It's the host nation. I hope we have that. Yeah, they got like 60 games here. Or seven places, seven venues. Oh, like in Miami. I mean, it's soccer, so I don't fucking know who came. Yeah, oh.
2:34:42Pat McAfee:I've been in so many of those convos. The guy said the number seven, and then you. Whoa. That's it. No doubt. No doubt. Here? Where are you from again? Let me pull. Let me pull. Seven. There were seven somethings, man. Seven somethings feels like it's an important number.
2:34:56Darius Butler:Eleven cities in the U.S.
2:34:58Pat McAfee:Yeah. Seven games probably in Miami. In Miami, yeah. Probably seven games in Miami. It's going to be hot down there for now. Isn't the – wait. Is the final? No, it's at Jerry World. Yeah, it is. Okay. Oh, you know that. Yeah. You know Jerry's washing for under 50. Oh, who's going to – Is it bringing grass in? I think everywhere, yeah. Every single stadium. which is obviously a big talking point it certainly will be about the nfl players saying what's this all about it's fucking other sports you know it's a world sport we don't need that we don't need the stadium where it rises and lowers and they grow it underneath like they're it's true like there's still seams in when it rises up you know it's actually at metlife
2:35:34Darius Butler:finals at metlife oh they did the club world cup final there too man they're super duper 100
2:35:41Pat McAfee:million one yeah it's terrible why would they do it outside club world cup yeah let's not we got domes. We got domes everywhere. Let's have perfect weather. It's the Super Bowl. It's the World Cup, I guess.
2:35:52Adam Schefter:Soccer doesn't look right in the dome.
2:35:54Darius Butler:I agree.
2:35:56Adam Schefter:It should be outside.
2:35:59Darius Butler:When I watch Atlanta FC, I want to throw up.
2:36:01Pat McAfee:That was Qatar. I don't think we have the same weather. Maybe Miami. I don't know. Maybe down in Miami it could get real hot, especially with that humidity down there. But in Qatar, sorry, I believe they did have to make outside air conditioners blowing on the field because of how hot it was. It's very hot over there. Very, very hot. Here, we'll see how the fields are. Should be good, and it's America. Millions of people died. Let's go to the next overreaction for our football, the best football. Lord Zito, Viva La Zito, riding high. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but Ben Johnson is the ultimate difference maker.
2:36:34Pat McAfee:12 weeks into his first season, he already has more wins than Iberflus had in his entire time with Dub Bears. We got Dub Guy. Hashtag Dub Bears with incredible AI work out of Zito there. with Ben Johnson and the crown on. They should feel great about where they're at. Zito's buzzing around in Thunderdome. Oh, yeah. The peak optimizing of the Thunderdome is about to happen with Zito around here. We had an ice cream maker in here for the last three years. Nobody's ever touched it. Zito automatically makes ice cream with it. We have a margarita maker that has been flipped into an ice-cold Jack Daniels server.
2:37:11He's got ice-cold booze flowing out.
2:37:12Pat McAfee:We got more internet ponson through this place. We have stuff being hung on walls. I mean, Zito right now is in his bag, I think, is how you would describe it. But also with the Bears winning, I think it's helped his entire mood. Oh, yeah. I think life is a lot better for Zito. How about his gout? How about the gout, though, with the victory stakes? Is that happening? It's coming. Yeah, these are big stakes he's housing. And obviously, he should enjoy them all. And I like how tender and juicy they all look whenever he posts it. It's obviously a very, very well-cooked thing. But the Chicago Bears are for real.
2:37:43Pat McAfee:and they are the kings of the north. And everybody that's a Bears fan is living like kings right now, including Zito. And this is what Sunday nights are now for Zito. It's no longer just a celebration. When I was growing up, we'd go down to a Pirates game because it was a cheap ticket. We're going to see Zambelli fireworks for sure. If the Pirates win, that's a bonus. For Zito, if the Bears won, I'm going to eat a steak. I'm just going to treat myself to a steak. It was such an abnormal thing. It was such like a holiday, a celebration of sorts. Now it's just a weekly occurrence. It's a new routine.
2:38:16Pat McAfee:I'm eating shit out of a perfectly cooked steak. I'm going to have a little broccoli, and then I'm going to pack it down. That is the biggest piece of broccolini I've ever seen in my life. I mean, it looked like he went out to his backyard and ripped an entire bush out of the ground. Zito, you're not saying you're cooking this, right? You ordered this?
2:38:36Pat McAfee:You ordered it again? There's grow marks. That looked like a 1933 or something. That was 1933? Who? H.E. Tavern. H.E. Tavern. Good state. Which executive chef is, you know, a St. Elmo's guy. Yeah, great. St. Broccolini. I've seen that broccolini before. Hey, you earned it, Z. That a baby, Z. You earned it, Z. My boy, Z. Let's go to the next one, shall we? This one is obviously a loud Philly crowd. This one's from Michael Geddes at underscore Michael Geddes. Hashtag I don't want to overreact. But if Kevin Puyubolo didn't wake up with a horse's head in his bed today, then I don't know what the value of Big Dom has for the birds.
2:39:17Pat McAfee:Fire Patulo and that field of pun at your own three Gibson into the sun and move on to the fraud bears. Hashtag go birds, dickheads. Love that. Love everything about that. Patulo's not well liked. I saw a lot of people calling for Big Dom to do what Big Dom's supposed to do here. Bingo. For the good of the city, Big Dom, I thought that's what it was about. That's what everybody's kind of saying. Coach Sirianni, he has to support Petulo. He hired him. What the city of Philadelphia, seemingly, the Johns are saying over there is, hey, Dom, that's not your job. Hey, Big Dom, your job is to look out for the city.
2:39:50Pat McAfee:That is kind of what you do around here. What are you doing? Is that a gist you were catching? Yeah, without a doubt. And that's why I kind of said, you know what, I'll go with the godfather route. The horse's head in the bed I think is better than people basically saying, hey, Big Dom, go take this guy somewhere and shoot him in the back of the head, which is what a lot of it was. People don't want him fired. They don't want him out of town. Philly, Philly. They want him fucking dead. Philly. Yeah, exactly. And, you know, Sirianni, by association, gets a lot of that as well. But he's the head coach of an 8-3 football team.
2:40:19So, you know, I think Sirianni, you know, maybe you're right to say, hey, Kevin Hublow, you know, this guy sucks. Pa Hublow. I think you can just get rid of that. Kevin Hublow, this guy sucks at his job. That's what everybody's saying. And this isn't like a one-week thing. This has been going on since week one.
2:40:40Pat McAfee:Every problem that the Eagles have, the Eagles fans think, if we'll get rid of this guy, it's all gone. Think about how happy AJ will be. AJ will be getting the ball. Jalen won't have to deal with this entire thing. Maybe Saquon can do the Saquon stuff. This guy, not the same as last year. Last year, good. Remember? This year, not good. This guy, move him. AJ, that would be a crazy move. We just saw Chip get fired out there in Las Vegas. Obviously, moves have been made midseason before. Pittsburgh Steelers fired their offense coordinator last year. It is something that is feasible and possible.
2:41:15Pat McAfee:Do you think it's plausible with the Philadelphia Eagles? I think anything is possible with the Eagles. I feel like, yeah, with the reaction that we get every single game they play, like, okay, let's say the Eagles pulled that game out and they won yesterday. Then, like, are we still killing all whatever we call them now? Yes. Patula. What do you call it? Patula. Yes. I have seen – like I even saw a clip of Nick Foles was on a podcast talking about just like all the route combinations, how they're kind of predictable and they're not, you know, they're not playing to the strengths of their receivers and everything.
2:41:45So I'm sure there's definitely something to it. I cannot imagine what those meetings are like. What do you think the staff meetings are like there? Where you're trying – like just trying to figure it out, trying to get going. What do you think? Hey, we're about to get going. I mean, A.J. was hot early. He had multiple targets early in that game, multiple balls. You would think that would calm things down, but it didn't really.
2:42:03Pat McAfee:Do you think Sirianni's telling Coach Petulo that on the internet they're calling him Puyublo and he doesn't think that? Do you think Sirianni's opening meetings with that, or how do you think that goes? I would assume so. He's probably praising Vic Fangio for about 15 minutes and be like, unfortunately, Kevin, everybody hates your fucking guts. I don't really got anything positive to say about you. We better keep winning, you know, because you remember Brian Johnson a couple years ago, kind of same deal. You know, I didn't fire him midseason, but as soon as we got beat in the playoffs, you know, I'd beheaded the guy.
2:42:33Had to. Didn't have a choice.
2:42:34Pat McAfee:Why don't you call plays? Because I'm the – I saw MCDC do it. I saw MCDC do it. I saw MCDC do it. Yeah, he looked pretty good. You know, you needed Jameer Gibbs to run for 800 yards to beat the fucking Giants. So, yeah, hey, if we want to act like MCDC's, you know, Tom Landry or, you know, Bill Walsh, we could do that. That's fine. I'm the fucking CEO of this football team. I hired Kevin Petulo. Well, if he can't get the job done, you know, that's going to be on him. And then maybe next year, you know, I do dust off the old playbook. Can I call playbook? Oh, really? Yeah, I don't know. Wow. I don't know.
2:43:08But, you know, hey, this is my decision. And I understand this guy sucks at his job. But it's close to holidays. Thanksgiving is right around Christmas. What's your favorite side?
2:43:18Pat McAfee:What's your favorite Thanksgiving side? I eat dog food only for Thanksgiving. Don't even cook a turkey. It takes way too long. 25-pounder. That takes you, what, like 16, 18 hours? I'm a football coach. You say, I got fucking time to do that. Of course not. So, you know, we'll see. I might do like - Kibbles and bits, of course. Bacon mix. Yeah, exactly. If I'm really feeling up to it, you know, I might get like one of the nice bags of Purina. You know, like you feed your dog if he has a bad tummy. Like maybe I do that for Thanksgiving special occasion, but I don't have time to eat. Okay. They're calling - You got a lot of drama over there.
2:43:49Yeah, they're calling for my job every fucking week. I won a Super Bowl last year. I'm eight and three this year, and they're acting like I'm fucking, you know, Brandt Staley. So I need to you know, I'm trying to just keep my head above war every single week.
2:44:02Pat McAfee:Alright, let's go to the next overreaction. That's probably a good idea, Coach. Thank you for joining us, Coach Tyriani. From Corey Buchanan hashtag I don't want to overreact, but the Bucs are cooked. Get toilet taught in this entire shitty coaching staff Walmart application. Absolutely embarrassing the way the Bucs defense has played the last three games. Come back soon, Baker. You're our only hope. Baker getting hurt, blowout loss like that. Defense, obviously, playing against a juggernaut. I mean, it has looked not good for the Bucs. Is that three straight now?
2:44:31Darius Butler:Yeah. Losses? I think. Yep.
2:44:35Pat McAfee:Pats, Bills, and then... Three straight, I think. Yeah, with five-week Patriots, Bills, and now, yeah, yesterday. It looks so good there for a while.
2:44:45Adam Schefter:I mean, even with all the early wins, Baker was making magic late. Three straight and four of five. Walk-off field goals. Yeah, last play, boys. Last play, boys. Yeah, exactly. We're close, close, close, and then now you get kind of this mid-season stretch. Guys are banged up. Now your quarterback's banged up, and this defense has not been doing them any favors.
2:45:02Darius Butler:They started 5-1.
2:45:04Pat McAfee:This happened a couple times now with this Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Baker at the helm, and obviously injuries are a part of that whole thing, and Baker's happy it's nothing, you know, structurally. I mean, but what Matthew Stafford did last night was outrageous. I don't know if anybody's stopping him, but obviously getting blown out is not good news for a team that has hopes. Every time they show Coach Todd Bowles on a sideline, there's no nothing.
2:45:23Darius Butler:I thought the same thing last night.
2:45:24Pat McAfee:They show him a lot, and it's just normally just the same exact reaction. I assume he's a guy that doesn't want to get too high or too low, like always wants to be the same, but your fans will definitely get to a point where, what does this guy do? I don't see him doing it. Jim Caldwell is kind of in the same boat. Jim Caldwell was my first head coach, obviously was the head coach whenever we went to the Super Bowl and lost it. I love this. I love everything about how much fun they were having out there. But he never really got too high or too low. It was like always the same exact guy. That's like kind of his style.
2:45:55Pat McAfee:That was his strategy. That was his entire technique. I wonder if Todd Bowles is the same way. And they just catch him on camera every time doing his thing. And then they go, well, we're continuing to lose. You're doing nothing. So we need to get better. I do wonder how that all goes. Yeah, if you don't win. If you don't win, no matter what, whether you're like, say you're a super high energy guy in the sidelines going crazy. Yeah. Or you are very stoic and don't have much reaction. If you're winning, you're a genius and it's great. And if you're losing, then you suck and then what you fired. Yeah.
2:46:20Pat McAfee:Everything's sweet whenever you're winning. And then Mr. Unlimited starts losing some games and everybody starts pointing fingers a little differently. Let's go to the next overreaction, shall we? Riley Lewis at Lewis Riley. I like how you did that. Hashtag I don't want to overreact. But Shane Stankin' is a fraud. Oh, no. Oh, no. There were a lot of these today. I was, quite frankly, I was shocked. He sounds like it. Up 14 on the Chiefs and he thinks it's time to coast? It only took two weeks for this team to go from first place in the AFC to not making the playoffs. No way this team wins in Clontown or the Stride House.
2:46:56Pat McAfee:Hashtag clean house. Jeez, Louise. That's a little bit too overreacting of an overreaction here. They're still the damn Chiefs. They're still the damn Chiefs. But on that note, I did not like what I saw either. That was a tough game to watch. I think a lot of flags made it a very difficult game to watch. I mean, there was a flag on basically every single play. And if there wasn't a flag, there was people begging for flags. and on the defensive front, it feels like if you run crossing routes against us, we're in trouble. It feels like we are in trouble. And I think this was something that Coach Lou Anarumo circled and was excited about.
2:47:30Pat McAfee:And Mooney, obviously, first game back, so who knows how game shape and everything like that he is and how he will be going down there. But I think Lou Anarumo was excited we had two number one corners so that he could go man. And then Andy Reid said, that's cute, man. That's really cute. Are they as fast as our guys, and are they going to be able to run just directly across the field every single time? And is this going to happen to us against everybody? Or is it Rasheed Rice and Xavier Worthy a little bit different animals?
2:47:56Adam Schefter:Yeah, we'll figure it out. It was Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. And, you know, we just got dominated. Moved the ball too well. They had 33 first downs to our 10. They had 10 first downs all day. And then they obviously dominated. We had 33 to 10. So you're not going to win many ball games, even though we were up. Then late in the game, there was a time, I think, around a maybe five-minute mark around midfield where we probably should have went for it on fourth down because of how the game was going. But, yeah, when you have the personnel, you got all pro money, you traded two first-rounders for Sauce Gardner, and you have Kenny Moore, who's one of the highest-paid, best nickels in the game, you know, you got to be able to go, man.
2:48:31Adam Schefter:And then up front, you got to get home. And I would like to drop a robber in there, maybe get some more eyes on the quarterback to make some plays on the football. But this was a tough out. But I'm not – I might call him Shane Stink.
2:48:41Darius Butler:They did a special last night on Football in America where it was like for the first three quarters, Colts did a lot of rushing three, dropping eight, and then the fourth quarter they decided to go all-man, and that's when they got beat. But I didn't know. Maybe this person who tweeted this isn't a Colts fan because everyone in the nation, all the teams' fan bases realized they had a chance up 11 to kill the Chiefs forever, and they didn't.
2:49:06Pat McAfee:All right, don't hold that against us. I think people are. No, we're a fun team. There's a lot of people holding out against you. No, we're fucking. You had a chance to kill them.
2:49:15Darius Butler:No, but remember. They are who we thought they are, and you let them off the hook. Yeah, exactly. Didn't see any of that stuff. That's the big thing, though. It's like every in the last however many weeks, like if they had any type of lead, you just salt the game away because Jonathan Taylor was rushing for 150 to 200 yards. Yesterday was the first day where he didn't have like an otherworldly game. I think, yeah, he had 16 rushes for 58 yards. Like he hasn't done that all year. So it was kind of just like one of those, you know, It was just the Chiefs day. And there should be a limit on how many times one guy can line up on Goncaves or whatever the fuck his name is, because Chris Jones just kept lining up on him.
2:49:49Pat McAfee:It was just kind of over. Tony Romo kept saying, Chris Jones is another pressure. This is all happening because of Chris Jones, Chris Jones, Chris Jones, Chris Jones. And then he showed the replay, and it's like, yeah. Chris Jones was certainly dancing with Danny Dimes there for a while yesterday. And Danny Dimes had some big-time throws. I like that to be said. We learn from this, and we move forward.
2:50:09Darius Butler:They were outside on the grass, too.
2:50:10Pat McAfee:Who do you play next? It's a big game. What's that? Big one. Houston. Huge game. At home. Oh. Back at the fucking crib. That defense is on fire. As Arch Manning would say, yeah, you're right. That's exactly what we want. Great opportunity. Great opportunity for the Colts. That's right. Is it Doug Mills? I hope not. No, that would be CJ. Sure, Doug Mills has got a hot hand right now.
2:50:36Adam Schefter:According to Shafty.
2:50:37Pat McAfee:Are you reading their reaction tweets or is this real? That's me, brother. That's me thinking. Doug Mills. Imagine what he would be doing if he was in Minnesota right now. Oh, my God. Dougie Mills and a Kevin O 'Connell offense. Oh, my God. Oh, geez. Especially how Paul and Biggie. He's built for Minnesota. He's got a lot out there. Like Glennon. Exactly. Glennon should have been with KOC. I don't know if they ever crossed paths. Because Glennon said, hut. And then. Boom. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah. You got to have a good reach. Yeah, bring him. Osweiler. Could you imagine Brock?
2:51:14Pat McAfee:Oh, my God. Because as long as you can get the snap and then just see everything, you've got to know everything going on. This is the Caleb story. Caleb reading the defense's pre-snap, knowing where he's supposed to go with the ball, is a huge, that's a huge jump in football knowledge. That's a big deal. If I'm a Bears fan, that's what I'm maybe most excited about. It's like before the snap goes, you know that he knows what's happening because he's turning his back and firing. That's a pick if he doesn't know what's going on. He has to have full conviction about what he's supposed to do. So that's really good news, I think, if I'm a Bears fan.
2:51:47Pat McAfee:It's like, hey, he knows what the hell's going on right now. And that's only going to become more and more and more as they go. And on the flip side, Minnesota doesn't feel like that. Let's get to a Minnesota overreaction, shall we? It's from Ethan Iberg. Hashtag I don't want to overreact. But the Vikings are the most doomed franchise in NFL history. Fourth best win percentage with no Lombardi to show for it. Allergic to finding a franchise quarterback, yet always good enough to not have a good draft pick. I'm ready to join D-butt and find a new team.
2:52:11Adam Schefter:What do you think? Finally. I'm seeing more and more of this every week. More and more. Come on.
2:52:16Pat McAfee:Especially as the season unravels.
2:52:18Adam Schefter:Don't let one franchise ruin your fucking happiness for, what, five, six months? Don't do it.
2:52:23Pat McAfee:Yeah, you can't do it, especially if your team is one of those teams that potentially ruins people's happiness week in, week out. Vikings should not be that. Last year, Super Bowl. That's the big issue. is like they had a team that we all thought could go on a run. And what all the experts were saying was, if we get any semblance of quarterback play at quarterback for this Vikings team with how they're built, this team will be good. And also, don't look now, maybe they get better with J.J. McCarthy, actually. It's like, all right. We heard that a lot. A lot. A lot of people saying that. And then we heard Kevin O 'Connell at the owners' meetings say the number one thing he looks for in a quarterback is accuracy.
2:53:02Pat McAfee:Isn't that what he said? Yeah. Yeah, that was a good pass. That was great. He got hit. That wasn't the one I was talking about. I was talking about the later interception. Yeah, but it's like arm talent seemingly is what they were looking for. Jim Harbaugh said. Now, granted, Jim Harbaugh was his college coach. And like he said, it was the greatest pro day he's ever seen. And he had people that. Who said? Jim Harbaugh said it was the greatest pro day of all time. That's Jim Harbaugh. That is his college coach. There's a lot of Harbaugh's it feels like in the media with J.J. McCarthy. But when he said that, though, the biggest pull or takeaway, at least, was Pennix.
2:53:37It was like, oh, okay, accuracy. Pennix is incredibly accurate. But then Pennix went to Atlanta at eight, and nobody had that build at all. So maybe, I mean, I don't know. And then Sean Payton also, you know, people are kind of circling back to Sean Payton saying, like, I fucking told the Vikings we were trading up for J.J. McCarthy, and guess what they did? They traded up to fucking steal him from us, and we won a bone X the whole time.
2:53:59Pat McAfee:So it does feel as though. Sean said it in like 2024, I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right after during that press conference. So, I mean, who knows what happens, but it sure seems like they fucked it up. People are saying. Plain and simple. And their fans are getting new teams.
2:54:14Adam Schefter:More teams. Fourth winning percentage? Fourth highest? Nick Mullins threw 400 yards in this offense. Twice. 400 yards. That's the biggest. Come on now. Nick can spin it. Yeah, he can. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he can. That's the biggest knock on J.J., though. Because of this KOC offense. And how many people have we seen?
2:54:37Pat McAfee:He's the greatest wide receiver in the history of football. And him just being like, yeah, I got to be part of the solution here. You know, it doesn't matter what quarterback he is. I got to do my thing. And then he starts seeing these balls go.
2:54:52Pat McAfee:Coach O 'Connell. These are the worst thrown footballs I've ever. I couldn't even tell you the last time I had throws like this. Because he's obviously experienced bad throws throughout some point. Sure. Yeah. Somewhere in high school maybe. Play with Carson for a little bit.
2:55:05Adam Schefter:Yeah. Now I'm just thinking after Ty pointed out that throw, that little video that we saw of the receivers getting ready for the game this week, that if they were on those things, they had those gimmicks. I missed this. No, you didn't. Yeah, what video? You talking about the guy in the stilts. Oh, yeah. Walking. Oh.
2:55:25Pat McAfee:Yeah. That would have been right in the one. Yeah, so maybe he does have a little bit of a – what would that be called? Where objects in a mirror – Death perception? Yeah, maybe it's depth perception not great. Maybe wide receivers look bigger. You know, like maybe it's so blurry they're like stacked on top of each other. Does he need – So he thinks he's hitting them right in the helmet. Turns out he's 12 feet. Jameis' situation. Yeah, he needs LASIK. Boom. Nine needs better eyes. That could be the problem. I'm back in. All right. You need to get LASIK. It helps. Jameis is catching touchdowns now.
2:56:00Pat McAfee:Yeah.
2:56:02Adam Schefter:I haven't seen that one. I've heard the depth near side at Farsa. I haven't seen where a six-foot guy looks 16 feet tall.
2:56:09Pat McAfee:No, it's just blurry. You know how people say they see two different things? Instead of seeing two different ones, they're just stacked on top of each other. So Jameis, look at him, get off me. He said he's available to do anything to make the team better, including play tight. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. He's a hard one. Hold it in, Jameis.
2:56:28Darius Butler:He's the best.
2:56:29Pat McAfee:Love everything about him. I'm very thankful that football exists so that we can live in a world where Jameis Winston can catch a touchdown and stiff arm somebody, break a tackle, and shake somebody at the same time. Shout out Jameis doing his thing. Always. When they put this play in, he probably told somebody, I'm going to catch that thing. I'm going to shake a guy. I'm going to make a stiff arm spin move, break a tackle, touchdown. Just what I can do. I assume that was – he's always expecting the most epic outcome, Jameis. Yeah. Which is why I think we love him. Yeah.
2:56:58Adam Schefter:Probably told Gunnar, just, I don't care who's, I don't care if I'm dumb, just throw that bitch up. I'm going to go get it. Yeah, I'm a Heisman bitch. I mean, not to mention, too, we inside, but we outside. We outside, but we inside. Before the game starts.
2:57:11Pat McAfee:Of course, and that's another pregame speech that, just go ahead and save it, lock it in for the rest of time for football. I love Jameis. That's a tough down for that defender. Yeah, I have his name, but I feel like I shouldn't say it. He's heard enough. He's a good player. He's heard enough. He is a good player. Detroit won this game. And Jameis Winston talked about how happy he was that Gunnar gave him a shot. You know, he said every once in a while you just need your quarterback to give you a chance. You heard him start, like, talking about that. And Gunnar pulling the trigger for him. And for all of us, really.
2:57:42Pat McAfee:Yeah. Thank you for throwing that, Gunnar. Thank you for throwing that. We need Jameis. Let's go to the next overreaction, shall we? This is from HawkLurker at Lurker Sports. Interesting. Hashtag I don't want to overreact. But don't look now, but the Cowboys are all the way back. The Gambler is fucking back, baby. And this team has a belief and a cause. Eight straight wins to end the season is on the table. Undertaker gif of them coming back from the dead. But it's not just the dead. It might be three miles under earth. Is there$100 billion of natural gas also flowing through that building right now?
2:58:10Pat McAfee:Is that team's cooking? I think Jerry Jones is excited. He's doing his press conferences after games where it's like it's 1921 and everybody has their recorders around his face just as close as possible. A COVID nightmare. I can't believe we ever got these. Remember, there was a time we never thought we'd have moments like this. That was normally with the advancement of technology and kind of how things go nowadays. Jerry's the only one that walks right into a media pool and says, come on in, come on in, as close as you can. He's got 10 microphones within six inches of his mouth, just everywhere from all different angles, and everybody wants to hear what he has to say.
2:58:44Pat McAfee:Jerry has created something special, and I think he thinks what he did with his team is magical. I think he's pumped up about where they're at. And once again, their team is what, 5 '5 and 1"? Yeah. they're a 500 team with a tie 500 team with a tie and all anybody's talking about is jerry jones got these dallas cowboys maybe ready to run for a playoff he's a fucking genius whenever it comes to business and picking up george pickens obviously a massive move loading up on the defense quentin williams coming like a leader of that entire team it's like jerry jones should be taking a victory
2:59:13Adam Schefter:lap are they really back though i mean they're still in it you never want to be you know five five and one at this point in the season but it's all in front of them you got the highest paid quarterback in the league who's still spinning it. You got two number one wide receivers. You got a good run game, good O-line, good pieces on defense. Once again, I still think Flues is a good defensive coach. You know, you just got to figure it out. If they start getting these turnovers and making plays, man, it's not going to be a team you want to face down the stretch, I'll tell you that much. Yeah, and Thanksgiving, we kind of had a little bit of a 30-second conversation, Ty and I, about how Chiefs offensive guard Trey Smith, all pro stud, he's out for them.
2:59:47For the Eagles, the strength of their O-line, of course, They got, you know, big oose on the outside. Or not oose, but whatever you get it. Jordan Maialata on the left. And Lane Johnson was out. But their middle three is stout. And Osa, Quinton Williams, and Kenny Clark kind of had their way with them. And now you're talking about one of the best offensive linemen for the Chiefs being out in the middle. Like, kind of love the Cowboys against the Chiefs on Thanksgiving.
3:00:11Pat McAfee:But I don't know. Matchups. Matchups are a thing. Huge. And Jerry wanted the interior of that defensive line to be stout. Got to be able to stop the run. Got to be able to press the puck from inside. and make these quarterbacks start dancing with their feet. That's what we do with the Philadelphia Eagles. Jerry Jones knows ball. I'm trying to win games now. They got Maka, and we got what we got, and we tied. Next question is how he talked about Maka after the tie ball game with the Green Bay Packers. But it's like, why not get excited about this Cowboys team? And they got a lot of potential bunker mentality over there.
3:00:38Yeah. A lot of bunker mentality. And they're really fun to watch, too, on top of it. I mean, like, that game yesterday where both teams seemed like they each fumbled about 30 times in the last 10 minutes. Nobody really wanted to win. But, God, and then you look at Brandon Aubrey. It's like if they're ever in a close game, like you have to feel pretty good if you're a Cowboys fan. Like, hey, we have a massive advantage here. We got to, you know, wherever we're at on the field, Brandon Aubrey might be good from 75. So, like, if you're a Cowboys fan, I think you're in a pretty good spot today.
3:01:07Pat McAfee:Long snapper recovered of punt fumble as well. Obviously, Anger hit a bomb that set that entire thing up. Aubrey making a game winner. Had a miss earlier. Yeah. Had him miss earlier, which was alarming. I almost, whoa, I thought there was a glitch in the TV. That's what it's like for them down there. And shoddy, obviously, enjoying the high life with a backwards visor after a game, which we love. Elijah Clark, absolute monster, AJ. I know you've seen the clip by now, obviously. Everything that's good with football happens in this play for Elijah Clark, AJ. Yeah, I know it's been talked about a bunch and shown, but it's one of those plays.
3:01:41Great play by the Gunner as well. Unbelievable. like the gunner here playing or what's 21's name again corner yeah sorry sydney brown that dude's explosive and very sudden as well but yeah you talk about like yeah that right there is the encapsulation that's what effort is like that's you're never out of the fight it's going back to the old picture the old the old duck the frog eating the duck and his neck his hands around his neck like i said a couple weeks ago like that's an example of that right there in that play i'll get knocked down five times i don't care i'll get up and still cause a fumble yeah the duck is eating
3:02:11Pat McAfee:the frog before going down the duck's throat. Him not falling. That second time is crazy. Sidney Brown, to your point, perfect rep on him.
3:02:23Darius Butler:This time, boom. 14 plays this really well, too. His guy 80 right there, he walls him off the entire time, and he's the other one who gets in on this play, too. That was just perfect. Gets in front of him, so you've got to clip him. You've got to hit him in the back if you're going to hit him, so he can't really do anything. Yeah, it's beautiful.
3:02:37Pat McAfee:Yeah, the leverage, too. Front shoulder of Returner because Returner's taking it to field there. So not getting out leverage, beautiful. Him getting back into his lane. Now, anytime you're behind somebody, not good. Okay, that's not good. But obviously he was knocked off track by Sidney Brown. So him getting back out there and making a play, it's all beautiful. It's absolutely beautiful. That is awesome to watch. I get so excited I almost went outside to see if I could punt. And I thought to myself, how many Elijahs are out there? There it is. There it is. There we go. Never give up. Is it different?
3:03:08Yeah, it's a new one. It's got pink eye, I think. All right, so who wins? Frog definitely won on this one. Frog, yeah, Frog got this one. That bird does not look like it's in good shape. It's going to die anyway. Yeah, but is that lockjaw? Like, if this thing dies right now, can you even open the mouth?
3:03:23Pat McAfee:You're talking about whenever a human body is rigor mortis? That's what you're talking about? Yes. Well, I wonder, because it appears that Frog still has life at this moment.
3:03:37Darius Butler:Oh, yeah.
3:03:37Pat McAfee:Right, because it's still gripping. He's got a tight grip, yeah. But is that rigor mortis as well? Could be. Or they both did. A draw of draws. Maybe. No, he let him go. The duck has to make a decision. Hey, do I open my mouth and let this guy out, or do I just get choked to death? So eventually he's probably going to let go. And then they both live, but the frog goes, and he kills him from behind after he says fair game. Okay, where's that at? Is that on the next page? That's the next slide, but we don't have that one with us. Okay, unfortunately we don't.
3:04:06Darius Butler:The frog always survives. That's the point of the poster. Never give up.
3:04:10Pat McAfee:Oh, I thought it was just like, hey.
3:04:11Darius Butler:That frog's still alive.
3:04:12Adam Schefter:Is this the same frog from the other picture?
3:04:15Darius Butler:Yeah. How do we know about the duck, though, being like, never give up. Keep eating. Chew your fucking food.
3:04:23Pat McAfee:Keep chewing. Yeah, there's a chance. There's a chance. Get it done, even if there isn't room. Get it done.
3:04:30Darius Butler:That waterfowl has no chance.
3:04:32Pat McAfee:Is that what that is?
3:04:33Darius Butler:It's not a duck. I thought it was a stork, honestly, the first time I saw it. Me too. But it could be a more stork.
3:04:39Pat McAfee:I'll tell you what. I feel like northeasterners, better with the water birds. Yeah, probably because a bunch of different kinds, especially with the weather change. Okay, so we have cranes here in Indy on the water. We have American-eating bald eagles. Yeah. We salute them. We got ducks. Yes. Mallards. Canadian geeks. Those are the worst. Loons. Yeah, they dump all the loons. We need to send them back to Canada. The Canadian geese.
3:05:06Darius Butler:We are writing a great migration pattern to see all sorts of water birds.
3:05:10Pat McAfee:Yeah, so there is a lot, but none of those ones, the ones that are out on the ocean. There's those ocean birds. The goals. There it is. Yeah, there's a lot of ocean birds. Yeah, those types of things. Because, yeah. Birds, dinosaurs? Some. Because we all know, like, alligator, crocodile. Yeah, direct descendants. For sure.
3:05:30Darius Butler:Dinosaurs. Yeah, a lot of people say that dinosaurs had feathers. The American Eagle, the bald eagle, when that thing opens up like this,
3:05:39Pat McAfee:first of all, you hear it when it's taken off. But it's got a little body in there. It's got a little body under there where it looks like you could actually body punch it a couple times. That's how big that thing is as it's moving. Good luck. That's a big fucking bird right here. That is a huge bird. And it does whatever it wants.
3:05:59Darius Butler:Owns the sky.
3:06:00Pat McAfee:Picks up a duck. Sorry, duck. Hits it on the ice.
3:06:04Darius Butler:Night-night picture. Now, if that was a bald eagle in that picture. Sorry, frog, you're dead.
3:06:07Pat McAfee:Frog's gone.
3:06:09Darius Butler:He ain't giving up. We gotta try that. I will when his head's gone. That thing's over, yeah.
3:06:13Pat McAfee:As soon as it picks it up, I think the eagle would actually do this with his claws. Oh, that's fun. His talons are so sharp, he's probably piercing them right through the frog anyway. They're going out his back and coming out his stomach, and he's dead instantly. Yeah, you're right, especially with the soft skin. Smaller beak as well, so the first bite is just face and brain. Yeah. Yeah. Out. Yeah, so what we're saying is that frog gave up before it even knew it was in a fight. Yeah. And it wasn't it that gave up. It was the body that just kind of disappeared. Fair? These eagles are smart, man.
3:06:43Pat McAfee:They are smart. Separate from others. They'll use their things like little dex. They got dexterity.
3:06:48Darius Butler:Oh, yeah. I've seen them toss goats. Yeah, pick up rhinoceros.
3:06:52Pat McAfee:Humans. I don't know if I've seen that. I don't know about rhinoceros.
3:06:54Darius Butler:I've seen it.
3:06:55Pat McAfee:What, like a zoo?
3:06:56Darius Butler:No, no, no. They don't let that happen at the zoo. Baby rhino?
3:07:02Darius Butler:Out on the Serengeti. Yeah.
3:07:05Pat McAfee:There's eagles out there?
3:07:06Darius Butler:Or you could go wherever.
3:07:07Pat McAfee:It's a far flight.
3:07:09Darius Butler:Yeah, it is, but they rule all skies. And all... Rides.
3:07:16Pat McAfee:That's right. Well said. All right, let's get to another overreaction. It's from Adam Schwinn. Hashtag I don't want to overreact, but the Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl. Everybody in their hearts were cheering against the Chiefs because they know if they get in, it's over. Fear is setting in. Realization is becoming real. And like you said, the Chiefs, I didn't say that, is still the Chiefs. That's kind of what I was thinking whenever they had four minutes and 30 seconds left. You never really think the Chiefs aren't the Chiefs in that moment. As soon as Patrick Mahomes jogs on that fucking field, okay, and does his thing, and they show Andy Reid with a fucking play sheet, Rigoberto and the boys do an incredible job and get a penalty, have them start at their own fucking two-yard line here, okay, up by three.
3:07:56Pat McAfee:That's exactly where you want full field to work with to get in the field goal range, even though Bucker has a big leg. And they just did the same shit they did basically all game, but all in one drive. And they just walked right down, took out the whole clock. They get to the two-yard line. They get to the two-yard line. I'm thinking to myself, they're going to score a touchdown. All we needed was the hold for a field goal. They're going to score a touchdown against us and win this game. And then tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. We ran out of timeouts. All of a sudden, it was under a minute, and they're like second down and goal on like the two.
3:08:23Pat McAfee:I'm like, we fucking lost this game. We didn't even get the ball back. And then somehow they hold him. Thank God. he kicks a uh extra or a field goal they tie it up we go to overtime we take the ball first three and out the boys hadn't been on the field in like 45 minutes it's been like an hour since the boys have been on the field with how and what uh patrick mahomes did with two minute warning other fucking tv timeouts and having the ball for 98 yards i mean the boys had weren't on the field forever three and out fuck patrick mahomes goes on the field your immediate thought is chiefs still the chiefs chiefs gonna score a touchdown right here and they did and you know just like uh the Sportsbooks thought with the Baltimore Ravens whenever they were down and out early, the sportsbooks said, Ravens are going to come back.
3:09:00Pat McAfee:Ravens are going to come back. I think we all need to do the same thing with this Chiefs team. No matter how ass they've looked, the Chiefs are still the Chiefs until further notice. Now, there's somebody on this stage who said it is not a question mark on if they still got it. It's actually an exclamation point that says they don't. You thought the Chiefs were dead. Did they earn your trust or fandom back into their dynasty conversation, D-Bud?
3:09:23Adam Schefter:We had a chance to kill them. In their house, and we did not. So they're not dead until they're actually dead. But I'll stand on what I say. I don't think they're going to run this year. I don't think they won the Super Bowl. I think the dynasty is still alive and well with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. But not this season. Yep.
3:09:40Pat McAfee:So the Colts aren't real either, is what you're saying?
3:09:42Adam Schefter:No, we're real. Okay. We'll bounce back. Hell yeah.
3:09:45Darius Butler:Colts are still the favorite to win the AFC.
3:09:48Adam Schefter:Boom. Boom. Boom.
3:09:50Pat McAfee:I like that, AJ. I don't like that we didn't win that game. I didn't like that. I mean, you know, in the grand scheme of all of it, you know, sometimes you might need a tough road loss like that to catapult you, you know, into the playoffs. Yeah, you're right. A good loss whenever you look back on it. Learning. Hey, a little perspective putter. This is the top of the class here. This is what happens when we go to their place. Now we lose in Pittsburgh, too. We lose in Kansas City. You know, start asking some questions like, hey, we're going to need to win more games, boys, because we're going to need to have home field.
3:10:16Pat McAfee:Lighthouse a little different than everywhere else. We need to start getting after it here. And I got faith in them. I got faith in them. Zaire made a hell of a play. Guy balanced on Zaire's helmet. It was like a Spanish fly. Guy does a front flip. Zaire does a back flip. Strips him in the middle of it. Ball out. Colts ball. It was like, I love that that's happening. I thought it was good news for us. Danny Dimes makes some good throws. We have a couple little moments of greatness. And then Chiefs just Chiefs us. I can't have it. Yeah. Are we good enough to win a Super Bowl? Big one this week.
3:10:51Pat McAfee:Big huge one this week. Or are we just a little bit excited because we're finally fucking a team worth watching? You know, that's kind of the battle that I've been in. House money. That's how I'm viewing it now. Just house money. We're playing with house money. You're right, because it sucked last year. Exactly. We already hit our overs on Team Total Wins this season. This is all house money. We didn't expect this. We shouldn't be here. We should. Somebody's going to be here. Exactly. But, I mean, think about what is starting to be built in both of our buildings. That's just kind of what I fall back on.
3:11:19Pat McAfee:Yeah, this is an early start for whatever it's about to be. Now, granted, we don't have Danny Dimes on contract after this year and Jonathan Taylor's going to need to be paid. They will.
3:11:26Adam Schefter:Yeah, I'll figure it out. The big three have figured it out. Yeah, you're right.
3:11:29Pat McAfee:Big three. Big three. Colts is the Colts still. No, no. Colts is going to be the Colts.
3:11:33Adam Schefter:Again.
3:11:37C-G-B-C-A.
3:11:40Adam Schefter:Yeah, exactly.
3:11:40Pat McAfee:C-G-B-C-A. Colts going to be Colts again. Get to the next overreaction. I don't want – they were favored in Kansas City. That's what the Colts were. Think about that. Yeah, that was kind of bad news going in. Weren't we favored? No, three and a half point dogs. But even that. Oh, I should have known. Great cover. I should have fucking. It was a great cover. It was a good cover. I should have known then. I just didn't even look at it. Give me the Colts. I was wearing Travis's shirt. They didn't get blown out, though. If they go into that game and get beat by three touchdowns, then it's like, oh, wow.
3:12:12Blown out by the Chiefs this year? That's what I'm saying. It's like, oh, boy, we really are a class below all these good teams. But, yeah, fought tooth and nail. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They tried hard. It's going to close that. Age, I don't like that. Try hard. They played hard. Would you take the ball? Do you want to tell us? No. I wouldn't.
3:12:30Pat McAfee:So, Tony Romo made a great point. Tony Romo, immediately upon us taking the ball, said, I'd rather have four downs instead of three, so it would be good to know what I need to do. But I don't know. Like, yes. On that note, yes, I think it's the right decision. but I had a thought there for a while where it was like, if you have a very good defense and you've invested in your defense, your defense knowing what it needs to do is a good piece of information. Like I think that could be a good piece of information. Now, granted, defense can't automatically score or, you know, kind of handle it and answer and an added play, knowing that you have to score a touchdown is a very big piece of information or knowing that you have to kick a field goal.
3:13:14Pat McAfee:if it's fourth and 10 on your own 30 it doesn't matter because you have to go kick the field goal as opposed to punting that and then the other team coming down and kicking
3:13:24Darius Butler:don't even think about your team you don't want to give Patrick Mahomes four downs you don't want you don't want to score a field goal and then Mahomes knows that he can have four downs yeah
3:13:33Adam Schefter:it just but always kick it always and and the Colts as a team this year I think they take the ball first more than any other team in the league. That's just Shane's thing. But OT, I want to go on defense first. If I know we're getting a shot, which the new rules we are, yeah, I want to know exactly.
3:13:51Pat McAfee:You're a quarterback. As soon as Tony Romo said, I'd rather have four downs instead of three. I was like, yeah, you too. That kind of puts it all to bed right there. Yeah, and to your point about Patrick Mahomes, I don't think it would have mattered.
3:14:06Darius Butler:Yeah, you're right.
3:14:06Pat McAfee:But on that note, data taken. Regurgitated. Maybe we'll change for the future. Let's get to the next one. It's from Chris Bordine. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but... That W felt like an L. OT on a short week to beat the Giants. Now they'll lose to the pack on Thanksgiving as is tradition. Lose to the Rams in a couple weeks. Brad needs to stop smelling his own shit and actually improve this team in the offseason. Hashtag, one pride. This is how Detroit feels after Jameer Gibbs goes for 475 yards? Yeah, I'll tell you what. This is how a lot of people in Detroit feel. I'm a little bit torn because on one hand, you watch that game.
3:14:43Pat McAfee:We look like absolute shite. The Giants should have won. They actually had a fourth down in our red zone to win that game. We should have lost. Instead, on the flip side, why I'm torn is we go down, we kick a field goal, go to overtime, we win the game, a win to win. We'll take that. But at the end of the day, we just don't look like how we looked last year. Last year, we were so dominant. It was like that team could win the Super Bowl. Right now, a lot of fans don't feel that way in Detroit, so we're a little torn. But got to beat the Packers. If they beat the Packers, no one will care anymore.
3:15:15Pat McAfee:Especially on Thanksgiving. Exactly. That's Lions Day. It is tradition to lose that. Was Shregs calling them a dome team? Was Shregs saying they're strictly a dome team that can't win outside? He basically was saying that today, and luckily we're in a dome until the last game of the year against the Bears, so we're in a good spot. Oh, that game won't matter probably either. We'll win that one, though. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. Of course you will. Congrats, Fox.
3:15:36Darius Butler:You've reached the fan base status where you guys aren't happy with just winning. It needs to look good, too.
3:15:41Pat McAfee:Yeah. Congrats. Very different than what three years ago looked like for you guys. Definitely. It's kind of weird because, like I said, a win's a win, and I'm pumped up. But also, they were so good last year, and something's missing this year. The Lions fan from last week, did you guys get along? Did you guys talk? Because, remember, you said you hated him. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I was really mad. And then about three days later, he actually tweeted at me and basically said, wow, I really upset Foxy here, and I just said charge of the game, overreaction Monday, no big deal. Okay, so bygones be bygones.
3:16:10Pat McAfee:Yeah, exactly. And now we're all on the same page. Just don't look like a championship team. This is one pride, one team, one sound, one band. Let's go to the next one. Dan, Mr. Roman, 1927. This guy's old. This guy's old. Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but Micah Parson looks like Lawrence Taylor the way he's manhandling opposing offensive linemen and wrecking quarterbacks' lives. If the DBs start catching those wobblers that hit him in both hands, then there's nothing stopping Toyotathon Jordan Love from running the table. Obviously, Ty, you're an owner of the Packers. You picked this particular overreaction.
3:16:42Pat McAfee:Just kind of hit on everything you were thinking. Toyotathon, some DBs dropping balls, Micah dominating. And is that kind of why you picked this one? Yeah, a little bit because the turnovers, I mean, you know, they got a couple yesterday, but that's been the big thing is they have been dropping a lot of interceptions. And I saw a lot of people were bitching about the Packers' offense yesterday, but I'm pretty sure Matt LaFleur was just thinking, listen, J.J. McCarthy is not going to engineer several touchdown drives here. We've seen what's happening. Their pass rush was kind of dominating, but the big thing is Micah Parsons is as advertised, and I think their defense is unbelievable.
3:17:20Obviously, J.J. McCarthy hasn't been playing great, but when you have a guy like that who can single-handedly take over games, it just, yeah, I'm feeling very good. I'd like the offense to be a little bit more aggressive. But again, yesterday without Josh Jacobs, without Matthew Golden, they really didn't need to do anything. They just needed to run the ball and let the defense kind of dominate the game, which is what they did.
3:17:43Pat McAfee:And Green Bay and Micah really getting along. I thought about this. Micah, State College, small town. Goes to Dallas, a lot of shit, obviously gets into it big time. Goes back to small town. I wonder if he doesn't need all the big city stuff that Green Bay potentially lacks versus Dallas. and I saw him and the fans having a good time. Obviously, his paycheck's a big deal, but the way he's playing and the way he's acting, it feels like you guys are in a great spot up there in Green Bay. Yeah, and I don't know because I assume that most Dallas fans, I mean, I guess towards the end, you know, he was probably getting a lot of shit for doing the podcast and like some of the stuff he was saying.
3:18:16Pat McAfee:Which we gave shit to before. Yeah, exactly. As well, because there was like a lot of negative energy seemingly coming out of the podcast. Not that guys shouldn't do podcasts. Shit, I had a podcast whenever I was live and I support players doing their thing, but it felt like Micah was so good at football And the only negative was just coming out from this podcast. It's like, you have a chance to make so much money from football right now that you're not going to be able to make in the future. Obviously, you're great on a microphone, and there's a lot of sound bites. We were even saying, like, is it worth this right now?
3:18:42Pat McAfee:And I think he's backed away from that, right? Yeah, he's not doing it this year. And he said, basically, I want it to be all about football when I get here. And, you know, again, it was his decision to do the podcast and everything. But learned is luck. Yeah, exactly. I think he learned. And I think for Packers fans, it's just been like, this guy is just such a godsend. They haven't had a guy this dominant on defense maybe since Charles Woodson won defensive play. It's been a long time, and he's just so consistent. Week in, week out, he kind of does what you expect him to do. He's getting double teamed all the time.
3:19:15Christian Deresaw is one of the highest paid tackles in the NFL, and Mike had just kind of had his way with him yesterday. They're still kind of waiting for everything to come together. I don't think they've played their best game. But, again, this defense is going to keep them in every game. Like, I don't see them getting blown out by anybody. So, as long as the offense can kind of, you know, come along a little bit and start to get healthy and get some people back, like, I know – and this, again, as a Packers fan, like, this hasn't been the case in maybe 15 years. Like, I know the defense is going to have a stout effort week in and week out.
3:19:48Pat McAfee:AJ, they seemingly like each other, too. A lot of celebrating there for the boys on defensive side. Yeah, I mean, look at the push the interior D-lines. Devontae White, the interior D lineman, gets two sacks in this game. They're getting great push. And when you can get great push inside and you have Micah Parsons on the outside, come on, man. You're going to win a lot of football games with your defense if you can do that. And that's what Carmine said. Exactly. I need somebody to get that quarterback. You going to pay him up? Absolutely. That's 48 M's a year sound. Just get to the quarterback, brother.
3:20:19Pat McAfee:And he has. Find yourself a little house here. Maybe have a view of Lambeau. Yeah, he might buy Roger's old house. He said he's been looking at it. He should. Really? Yeah. Him and Tucker Craft both said, like, yeah, you know, we've checked it out. Considering it. Are they going to move in together? I don't think so. And I think if it becomes a bidding war, I think Micah has a little bit more money than Tucker Craft is. He's about to get broken off here soon, but Mike Parsons is making a lot of money. Yes, he is. And if he wants Roger's house, he can go ahead and get it. And what if he just loves Green Bay?
3:20:47Pat McAfee:What if this is the place he's supposed to be in? What if this becomes just a mainstay for the next 10 years up there in Green Bay? I mean, I think that's the plan when you give up as much as they gave up to get him and you pay him the way they've paid him. Like, I hope he's expecting to be there for the long haul. And, boy, he's still so young. That's what's, you know. How's Jordan Love? Again, his shoulders kind of banged up. He was kind of – he was handing off with, like, his off hand yesterday several times. So, I hope he's good to go Thursday. I assume he will be. But, again, like, he didn't – they didn't need to – Emmanuel Wilson came in and he had more rushes than Josh Jacobs had gotten all year, and he rushed for over 100 yards in his first start.
3:21:27He picked up a couple first downs when they needed him to, but it really was just a, hey, let's control the clock, because if we get a 10 - to 14-point lead the way Minnesota's playing, it's going to be very, very difficult for them to come back. But he's going to have to air it out, and he's going to have to play a good game on Thursday.
3:21:42Pat McAfee:Backhanded handoffs there. He did that several times. Several times. And that's what they were saying. and they don't know if that was maybe a product of his shoulder being kind of banged up. Maybe he's changing the game. He could be. He could be. It's Toyota-thon. He tends to do crazy shit during that. So maybe he is just saying, you know what, this is actually a little bit better off. All right, let's go to the next overreaction. It's from AD Sugar. Hashtag I don't want to overreact. But the Rams are going to win a Super Bowl. Our nine is going to win the MVP. Defense making more plays than the Eagles offense in the second half.
3:22:13Pat McAfee:We are the number one team in the NFL. Aaron Donald coming out of retirement to get him another ring. Hashtag Rams house. We talked about this earlier, AJ. Aaron Donald's in shape right now. Yeah, very good shape. He should come make a good playoff run. Oh, my gosh. He was in the building last night. Obviously, he sees the way the boys are cooking. He's Aaron Donald, 10 years in the NFL, eight of them first team all pro, obviously three MVPs, Super Bowl championship. He had a run that is obviously historic and worthy of the Hall of Fame. If he was to come back just for week 17, 18 in a playoff run with that D-line, it would be epic.
3:22:46Pat McAfee:This happened with Gronk. This happened with Tom. This will happen with all the greats that look like they can still play. It's a good position for Aaron Donald. I wonder if he watched last night live in person and said, it's kind of fun. They're kind of eating up all the double teams right now. Maybe I'll come back and steal another, who knows, 10 sacks during the playoff run. Maybe I'll just go crazy through six, seven games here. and pick up maybe 15, 16 more sacks and just see how the year can go, and maybe another Super Bowl ring. But also, is Rams defense? I don't think they need them right now.
3:23:18Pat McAfee:I think they are in a great position, D-Butt. Their fans are pumped. Let's go to the last overreaction here. This is from hashtag Tommy Mann. Sorry, hashtag I don't want to overreact. But James Winston is the most electrifying player in the league, and KOC better be doing everything in his power to have that man in a Vikings uniform by day one of free agency because I'm tired of watching his bum, J.J. Ruin, prime years of Jettas and Addison's career. All right, I think we hit it all. I think we hit it all. What a day today. We can't thank you all enough for rocking with us. We'll watch tonight's Monday Night Football game.
3:23:50Pat McAfee:We'll overreact to it tomorrow. We'll chit-chat about everything happening around the sports world, and we're incredibly lucky to do as such. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice that might change your life. We're in this thing together. 25 % off right now. Store.patmagforshow.com. Store.patmagforshow.com. Don't feel obligated, but it is available. It's a meaningful football time. Let's celebrate this. I think we're going to be adding more stuff to this store as we go to. Nice. I think we got some people on the back end that are ready. Here we go. Hell yeah. Hey, I think that's a big deal.
3:24:16Pat McAfee:It's dope. That is very dope. Enjoy it all. All right, we will. We appreciate you. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three. Team. Goodbye.
