0:21Peter Schrager:We'll be right back.

0:38Pat McAfee:Hello, beautiful people, and welcome back to our humble abode, the Thunderdome, on day two of NFL Free Agency, March 10th, 2026. It's a great day to be alive. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. My name is Pat McAfee. The show is named after me. I talk a lot, but it's not just me. The toxic table's here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Con man, big day in our eyes because we got a countdown and it's on.

1:06Travis Kelce:Yeah, exactly. 184 days to NFL football. Last year, two of the top five teams in free agency were the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. So all that money spent yesterday, it does mean something, okay? And we got more money to spend today and a lot of good players.

1:18Pat McAfee:They say you can't win a Super Bowl in March. It's like, well, actually, Seattle Seahawks certainly helped. Ty, what's your big takeaway as we look at day two of free agency frenzy?

1:26Connor McGovern:Yeah, I'm looking for some of these teams who really didn't do anything yesterday to maybe, you know, dip a toe in today. Packers early this morning, Benjamin St. Juice, cornerback. Oh! Because they had to release the guy that they signed last year on free agency. They gave a bunch of money to us. So we'll see. Some of these teams weren't really involved yesterday. There's still a lot of good players available out there.

1:45Pat McAfee:Let's go to one half of the hammer. Done! Cowboys' AP tone. Feels like there was maybe some odds movement yesterday with money being thrown around to these players.

1:52Peter Schrager:Yeah, three teams within a division. Their odds got a lot better. The Titans made a lot of moves yesterday. They went from plus 750 to plus 600. The Raiders went from plus 4 ,000 to plus 2 ,200.

2:04Pat McAfee:Is that the biggest movement of all time?

2:06Peter Schrager:All time, I think. And then we had a jump. We talked about it yesterday. The Carolina Panthers were in last place in the NFC South. They jumped the Falcons to go from plus 425 to plus 370 with their moves yesterday.

2:17Pat McAfee:Let's go to a nine-year NFL vet. One of the best-dressed guys on TV. By far. Certainly the coolest. Ladies and gentlemen, big brain owner of EverythingDB. D, good D, bad D, Darius J. Butler is here. D, but he's talked about Carolina Panthers and what they did with the odds. Anything surprise you yesterday? And what are your thoughts on what happens today? Day two of money bags being thrown around.

2:37Travis Kelce:I'm surprised the Panthers didn't jump a little higher in those odds. I would like them as a favorite. Obviously, they won last year, and I love what Young is doing. We always talk about them being a good football team. They got a lot better yesterday. They got the best pass rusher on the market with Jalen Phillips. Then Devin Lord, who had an unbelievable year in Jacksonville. You knew they weren't going to give him the money he deserves. I love to see it from Dan Morgan up there in Carolina. He's really spinning it right now.

3:00Pat McAfee:Yeah, they certainly are. And obviously, it's not just us here. We're incredibly lucky that a lot of the ESPN icons have taken a trip out here to beautiful Indianapolis, Indiana for this free agency frenzy celebration. Let's head over to the free agency fun zone with Shreds and Orlovsky. Boys, it's great to see you. It was nice having dinner with you last night. We appreciate your company and your aura. You guys killed it yesterday. Great to see you day two. Shrigs, he just mentioned Jalen Phillips right there. He wasn't the only Eagle that disappeared yesterday, Shrigs.

3:28Darius Butler:Yeah, the Philadelphia Eagles lost quite a bit. You're on, you're on, you're good. Are we good? They lost quite a bit of talent yesterday in free agency. Nekobi Dean, Jalen Phillips, obviously Reed Blankenship, and then the receiver Jahan Dotson. I got Eagles fans all over my timeline, all over my phone saying, what are we doing, what are we doing? Calm down, deep breath. March and April is what we call Howie season. Howie Roseman, the best general manager in football season, an SZN. Remember, they have to eventually get new deals done for Cooper DeGene and Quinion Mitchell and Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter.

4:01Darius Butler:And oh, by the way, there might be some moves in their holster. So Philadelphia Eagles fans, I know it feels like a crazy, crazy offseason of departures with Jeff Stoutland and of course all these players. Remember last year, you lost Milton Williams, you lost Josh Sweat, you still had one of the top defenses in the league. This is part of being a football team. When you're really good and you draft really well, there will be teams that come poaching and raiding and taking. Trust your general manager. It is how we season.

4:27Pat McAfee:If you win, there's enough to go around, they say. And before we get to you, Dano, we do have to have a memo in silence. I don't like that we're doing it. The exciting whites took over football for a bit. Had no idea that two Caucasoids could do that. at those positions in the NFL, people would get them confused. Hey, white guy playing position you're not supposed to play. How's it going? And white guy would have to say, it's the other one guy. Now we'll never get to hear the exciting mics of the exciting whites continue because one of the whites is leaving time. Rest easy, too, the exciting whites.

5:15Pat McAfee:and we and I personally were like, thank you guys for your service to football. Broke down a lot of barriers. Mm-hmm. Trailblazers. One of them made the whole everything DB team. He did.

5:30Travis Kelce:Yeah. First time ever.

5:31Pat McAfee:Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson. Is that going to be the only time ever?

5:35Travis Kelce:No, no. We got one in the draft might be first round. Okay. Wow.

5:39Pat McAfee:Look what these exciting whites did. It's over now because $24.75 million was sent to read Blankenship from Nick Casario who said, I need me one of them. Congratulations on a hell of a run in silence. Love you guys. Never forget this. Okay, Dan, let's get back to you now. What's your kind of thoughts as we hit day two of free agency frenzy here, Dan Orlovsky? How do you follow that? I don't know. Maybe. You know what? You just turned your mic off, I think. I think you just turned your mic right off. I think you just turned it off, I think. I think you clearly pushed a button to turn it off. It's on now?

6:20Pat McAfee:It's on now?

6:21Dan Orlovsky:It's been on the whole time.

6:22Pat McAfee:All right.

6:23Dan Orlovsky:Doesn't Oregon have Thinamen? Dylan Thinamen?

6:28Travis Kelce:That's the potential first round.

6:30Dan Orlovsky:So there's hope for him. They're saying hand out.

6:32Pat McAfee:He was 4-1. What? That's what they said. Chapter's got receipts. That's what they said. We're all surprised. I'm going to let you know. You can believe it, though. Go white lightning, you're burning out of this track. That's what they were saying. Sorry, Dano. Today, though, big day for you to see Frenzy, more money and thoughts like that. Anything tie in from yesterday or today for you as you have to follow all of that stuff?

6:53Dan Orlovsky:I would be very much so looking forward to seeing today where Hendrickson lands, Trey Hendrickson. I don't think that pitting him to just some of the obvious teams is necessarily the right way to go. I think that there's teams that just could be lurking out there, that Chicago Bears, the Buffalo Bills, the Rams, the Eagles, because they obviously lose Jalen Phillips. So, like, where Hendrickson goes, and I'm surprised that Romeo Dobbs, the Packers receiver, hasn't gone yet. I think Romeo Dobbs is an absolute number one wide receiver. He's not in that number one elite group. Yeah, but a guy that you can, like, put out by himself and go win on routes.

7:29And so I would love for him to stay in Green Bay for their offense.

7:33Dan Orlovsky:But if you're New England, it's like, man, how do we not try to find a way to get Romeo Dobbs into this offense? Because I think pass game-wise, he's awesome.

7:42Pat McAfee:I appreciate all of those thoughts. And I think today is going to be active. We still think today is going to be active. Dobbs would certainly get some dubs some places. And who knows what the market is for all parties that are still available after the first wave of free agency goes. A lot of punters getting money early. That's right. Need to get a punter. Need to get a punter. Let's go ahead and talk about the massive amount of money that was actually spent yesterday. $2.86497 billion in contracts yesterday. Top five spenders, shout out to the Panthers down there,$172.5 million. And the Saints make it plays.

8:19Pat McAfee:They're at$193 or$192.5 million, depending upon where you read at. They have real contracts now. That's right, they do. They are now at the point of kicking can down road, kicking can down road. now no longer having a road to kick it down. These deals have to live where they have to live. So congrats to everybody that got paid yesterday by them. They're expecting you to be really good. And also, Shuck, you're going to have to do this. Commanders,$209 million. Wow. Wow. What a day. Tennessee Titans, Borgon, we got a lot of money. We got a lot of money. We're going to have to spend it. Bob Sala's happy about that.

8:49Pat McAfee:And then the Las Vegas Raiders,$281 million plus yesterday in full contracts. They're certainly undergoing a brand new era. Tom Brady may be a little bit more in charge. And Fernando Mendoza at the helm. Let's head into the man who broke all the news yesterday, senior NFL insider for ESPN, Michigan man, and maybe a little bit more on all these deals, Adam Schefter. Adam Schefter. I like we got a little air in there. Schefter, door open. Smart.

9:20Adam Schefter:It's an honor to be back in the Thunderdome for a second day on the nightline set here in the corner room. Love being here. And yes, the room is cooler. The Wi-Fi seems to be working better. And we're going to have some action today, Pat. We've got some names still available. Wouldn't be a surprise if we saw a Romeo Dobbs deal done during the course of this show. We've got Rasheed Walker still out there. Kay LeVon Chasen still out there. We've got Chig Okonkwo, the tight end. Reek Willen, the cornerback. Leo Chanel, Braden Smith, Jawan Jennings, Wyatt Teller. A lot of good players. The quarterbacks, we would expect movement, but not yet.

9:55Adam Schefter:because neither Kyler Murray nor Geno Smith officially have been released from their teams. So they are not allowed to do anything during this time right now, and they can't until they are released. Obviously, people are waiting on Minnesota to see the Vikings and Kyler Murray. We'll see if and when that happens, and Geno Smith will see what happens once the Raiders release him.

10:16Pat McAfee:Okay, so Schefter, explain a little bit more about the Kyler Murray Wednesday thing. I know the new league year is then, but everybody's acting as if their contracts are up right now. Why is it such a big deal with Kyler that he has to get released? Are they waiting to trade him still? Are they hoping somebody wants to? Why is this still happening?

10:30Adam Schefter:He has, I think it's a$16 million bonus that's due on the third or fourth or fifth day of the league year. The Cardinals are not going to allow that day to come to where they have to put more money into Kyler. So they can wait as long as they want up until that point. And they have not released him. but they will and are expected to release him before that happens. Now, the new league year begins. I'm so confused. Why is that confusing? Why don't they just release him?

10:59Pat McAfee:I don't think I understand what's going on because they just screwed him, basically. Yesterday, you know, potentially Miami. What if Miami was interested or Atlanta was interested or anything like that? This is strictly just to hold on to hope that he gets traded?

11:10Adam Schefter:In the event that somebody happens to step forward, what's the difference in their minds if they release him today, tomorrow, or Thursday? like they don't know that they might not get a call from somebody hey hey we'll give you we'll give you a fifth round pick for Kyler Murray all right now is that going to happen no but they're holding on to him until then and then they'll release him and then of course Minnesota we'll

11:32Pat McAfee:see again if that happens with the Vikings do they know that that's not going to happen over there or are they holding out hope that somebody will get super desperate in one of these quarterback needy

11:40Adam Schefter:teams you never know how the league operates they're not expecting it they're not counting on it, but you never know. It's a one in a million shot, but it's not costing them anything to hold on to him for another day or two. They don't feel like they owe Kyler Murray anything. They paid him all these millions of dollars anyway. What's the difference?

11:56Pat McAfee:Agreed, I guess. And they're also going to be paying him in the future, which is why teams are going to be able to only have to pay him like a million bucks, like what Russell Wilson did in Pittsburgh.

12:03Adam Schefter:They're paying him$36.8 million this year. They could hold on to him up until the deadline, if they want, before they move on from him, which they will.

12:10Pat McAfee:Okay, so they're going to do that just in case. You never know what's going to take place. and also, yeah, we get the final say in this entire season. Yeah, it would have been nice being that first wave, huh? Some other teams would have had a really nice setup knowing that Kyler Murray is their quarterback while they're pitching other free agents to potentially come join their team. We all assume that he's going to Minnesota?

12:29Adam Schefter:Well, I think that's the logical landing spot. Now, we'll see what happens. You don't know what other teams could step in, but yeah, if I were betting today, I would bet Minnesota.

12:38Pat McAfee:Okay, that's a fascinating situation. We appreciate you, Shefty. We'll continue to follow along with your Twitter account and maybe we get a glass break. Maybe we get a Shafty tweet. What a time yesterday. I know. So fun. It was a good time. I really enjoyed yesterday. I also enjoyed, obviously, the boys in studio. We mentioned it there at the top. There were some big spenders and $2.8 billion in contracts given out. The Raiders kind of go ahead and go for it. They had a lot of money. Obviously, they made more money after they move on from Max Crosby, who's now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, which is crazy to think about.

13:11Pat McAfee:And is Lamar Jackson going to beat Dan Orloff? I think so.

13:17Connor McGovern:Yesterday was kind of the last straw.

13:19Pat McAfee:Dano, have we gotten a read on what those emojis were? Have we gotten a read on what that smoke meant? Is that him wanting to smoke with you? Have you got any messaging from anybody?

13:28Dan Orlovsky:No, I haven't. I hope not. I want no beef with Lamar or any NFL player.

13:34Pat McAfee:Yeah, but maybe smoke with Lamar. Yeah, that'd be cool. You wouldn't mind doing that, right? It's kind of your thing. It'd be good for the socials.

13:40Dan Orlovsky:No, no. I married a girl that maybe has that as a little bit in her past, but I don't necessarily get my toe in that water. Out your wife. She certainly used cannabis.

13:52Pat McAfee:Her mom's a parrot head.

13:53Dan Orlovsky:Her mom is a Jimmy Buffett. She's a hippo.

13:55Pat McAfee:Oh, so she went fins to the left, fins to the right. I understand what's going on. We're having a good time. I think Lamar Jackson is sick of your shit. I think so. I don't know. I don't have a good read on it. I don't know what the emojis are. And once again, Lamar Jackson, one of the greatest emoji users in the history of the app. Oh, yeah. That's right. Okay, we all know that. We all have a lot of those. So him kind of touring with you right now, fantastic news. We appreciate you, Dan. Kyler Murray, though, with the Vikings, Dan, feels like a natural fit, feels like the only fit. You think they're just waiting for him?

14:27Pat McAfee:Is that kind of what their mode is? Yeah.

14:30Dan Orlovsky:I also have learned that when Shefty kind of says something, he's not just saying it. He's always leaving tea leaves and breadcrumbs around. So I don't necessarily think it's a locked natural fit, though. I would say this. In Minnesota's offense, they just want the quarterback to play point guard and allow the offense, the play caller, Kevin O 'Connell, to star. I think that Kyler is such a dynamic player and dynamic athlete that he naturally wants to be the star. And so trying to fit that kind of style of play into that offense is going to be, it's going to take some time. I do think that Kyler is really good in the play action game, the movement game.

15:12Dan Orlovsky:He obviously has plays like this where he could just make something out of nothing. So that's a plus. But in this offense that originated years ago with Mike Shanahan and then it went Gary Kubiak and then Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay, like they've, it's always been an offense that has elevated quarterbacks specifically that maybe aren't the most physically gifted guys as far as like athlete, run around, make a play, big arm guy. It's always elevated those guys a lot like a Sam Darnold. And Kyler hasn't necessarily needed that style of offense. So I think Kyler, like it'll take some time for him to have the discipline to play in that offense.

15:49Pat McAfee:Yeah, the mental acceptance, if you will. Maybe getting cut from a team, though, while they're holding you up is a moment that he can maybe have that process of just saying, hey, let me buy into what this guy's pitching and I can kind of cook. Do you think they started doing that type of offense because there was a drop off in quarterback play, and they're like, hey, if we have the system and we just get a guy that can throw a football, which we know every year there's going to be a guy that can throw a football, we should be able to have success consistently. Like, while you talk about it, I hear you thinking to yourself, I wish I was in one of these offenses.

16:18Pat McAfee:I was. 0-16? No, not that offense.

16:23Dan Orlovsky:Yeah, Houston. I was in Houston, but Shabby started every game when I was there.

16:27Pat McAfee:Oh, is that the pick-six machine? Yeah. That was after I left Houston.

16:31Travis Kelce:Yeah, he threw like eight straight games to the pick. He was in his like 20th year. Remarkable.

16:35Pat McAfee:He was so good. I mean, he was unbelievable. Let's not talk about – I mean, it's hard to throw that many as well. I did that – yeah, he's a stud. I'm not saying – so your diner was shabby. So you've been in that offense. You loved it. That was where you're supposed to be, you think? Yeah, I mean, that's where like I feel – Oh, that's why he hates on all these – That makes sense. If Mac Jones was in Brock Purdy, you remember this is the whole – Sam Darnold, guy who can't really – that's why. Because he thinks to himself, man, could you imagine George Kittle right there? This is a right person. He would have won MVP.

17:05Pat McAfee:Yeah, he may have. Oh, my God. Is that it, Dano? Is that offense? No, I just think the offense is awesome for quarterbacks. Okay, okay. Sure. You would be great in there too, though, right?

17:15Dan Orlovsky:You would be? I wouldn't have been nearly as good as the guys that are doing it.

17:19Pat McAfee:Hell yeah. Hey, I like that.

17:20Dan Orlovsky:Very humble.

17:21Pat McAfee:Very humble. I don't believe him. Did you see him taking credit for? You were physically talented, brother. We watched you do the quarterback carousel down at the Pro Bowl. Showed up and dominated. It was nice to see that, Dan. Oh, no, we're losing it. You're doing something with that, Mike. You need to stop it. Okay, speaking of, Kyler Murray's going to the Vikings maybe, says Dan. It might not be an absolutely perfect fit, but they'll have to wait, I guess, for the Cardinals to decide when they can let him go. There's also plenty of other free agents that could sign today that we'd say, wow, didn't know that person was available, or wow, didn't know they were going for that much.

17:53Pat McAfee:Let's talk about not knowing somebody was going for that much. $30 million a year to a center is quite a message from a franchise. The Las Vegas Raiders sent a huge one in signing Linderbaum, and they weren't done there. They continued to spend. What are your thoughts on what the Raiders did, D-Budd? And if you're Fernando Mendoza and you're the fan of the Raiders, maybe, huh? It's hard not to just buy in and be like, maybe we do have the pieces. Already got Brock, already got Ashton. I assume there's a lot of dogs on the defense that we don't talk about because we only can talk about Max Crosby because how damn good Max Crosby is.

18:22Pat McAfee:Are the Raiders about to have a little bit of a, uh-oh, we're an actual football team time in their life, you think?

18:30Travis Kelce:Yeah, you look at this graphic and all up there, all the way from left to right, it's a bunch of pros, good pros, not only on the field but off the field, in the locker room. These are guys that are respected and been respected by their teammates. And you talk about Lindenbaum. So you're shoring up the interior of that pocket for who we assume to be, Fernando Mendoza, at whichever inevitable point he jumps up to the top of Dan O's board, I think he'll be the number one pick in the draft to go to Vegas. So you show up that interior of the offensive line. You help out your running game, obviously.

19:01Travis Kelce:Quidipe, first-round pick here, didn't quite pan out how we thought he would, but definitely still a high ceiling from him. Quaid Walker and Dean, you show up the linebacker core right there. Taron Johnson, A-Rod was on here when we talked to him. He mentioned him being one of the best football players in the league, and he allows you to play a little more nickel than a lot of teams do. So all these signings have been great right now. You've got to win in March, then you obviously have to win in the draft if you want to be a competitor once the season comes.

19:26Pat McAfee:I love that they're spending. They have to spend now with the way our market is, with the way the NFL operates. There is a floor and there is a top, and they had a shit ton that they had to spend. But it feels like they're making the right decisions, and it's not just the cap that they're able to move. They're set up pretty well for the draft. What is this with the Raiders? The Raiders had a bunch of money for free agency, seemingly made good moves, even paid somebody a brand new$30 million and nobody expected for a center position. I mean, I think it was like$12 million more than the next plus this interior offensive lineman.

19:52Pat McAfee:So, I mean, that's a huge, huge jump for whenever you talk about a position getting paid. But if you need it and it's going to make you win, we're for it. I think that's the difference between us and people that analyze all the salaries and numbers and everything. We're a big like, hey, if this is going to win you a game, what's the purpose?

20:08Travis Kelce:Yeah.

20:08Pat McAfee:None of the money matters. Protections.

20:10Travis Kelce:Rookie quarterback, like, got the protections set. 30 million, they overpaid for them.

20:14Pat McAfee:It's like, we don't know that. We have no idea if they overpaid for it or not. If he ends up being the glue that pulls together an offensive line that can protect Fernando Mendoza and block for Ashton Gentry, it's like all of a sudden you feel like you've got the offense figured out. Then on defensive side, you're going to have to make some plays. Well, bring in some vets over there on that side that have made plays as well. And then you think about free agency being good to them. It's not just that. They've got draft season coming, and they've got some real stuff, Tom.

20:36Peter Schrager:Yeah, they have 11 draft picks in this upcoming draft, two in the first round thanks to the Max Crosby trade, and then two in the first round next season. So that's four first-round picks in the next two years. So you can either take four really good players or package those to move up. Oh, we're bundling. You could bundle. I mean, what happened a few years ago? The Texans bundled. They did the thing. They get C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson. It turned that entire – remember how shitty the Texans were before that? Oh, my God. It's on fire.

21:03Pat McAfee:They're a trash house. Yeah. Food with ass and shit.

21:07Peter Schrager:We've seen it happen a lot recently. I mean, you get Burrow and the Bengals turn around. You get what happened with the Patriots. It's like it's the Raiders fans should feel really good and optimistic right now.

21:16Pat McAfee:I feel really good for them because Las Vegas, obviously, good home for football, good home for the NFL. Feels like their stadium is sweet. We obviously like making trips out there. And if their team's good first time, long time, that'd be great for them. We'll suck for Max Crosby. No doubt. Yeah. But he'll say he contributed because obviously the picks and the money that he was able to get, was he a part of it? But it's like it does feel like we're entering a new era of this. Not that they haven't been used that before, but they are entering a new era that looks like it's going to have a good chance in this entire thing.

21:42Travis Kelce:Well, and the pieces, like the quarterback Tony mentioned with Drake May and Joe Burrow, like even those teams missed pieces. The Patriots' whole line needed time. The Bengals' whole line still needs time. But you mentioned Linderbaum. Their left tackle, Colton Miller, he's been kind of a stalwart staple there for a little bit. One of those guys, kind of the offensive Max Crosby, if you will. He's just been solid. Nobody really talks about him. Never really seen him in a big moment. And then you think about like a wide receiver one. Sure, they don't have a wide receiver one. But Brock Bowers, I mean, he's already caught 100 balls damn near in a season, so that would be unbelievable.

22:12Travis Kelce:I'm not so sure Tom Brady hired Pete Carroll on purpose to tank the team. I'm damn near thinking now at this moment in time, Brady brought in Pete Carroll like, hey, this guy's going to run our franchise into the ground, and then we're going to get the first pick.

22:25Pat McAfee:Hey, that's close to Sillionaire. That's Queen's Gambit. Boom, boom, boom. Tom Brady might do it, especially with those glasses. We're seeing them in glasses a lot. Yeah, tinted. Not too tinted, though. Yeah, like cool. Yeah. A lot of this one right here. Like Bradley Cooper and War Dogs. Yeah, and I would like to let him know, hey, Tom, keep doing it, dude. Looking good, Tommy. I saw him snapping cards. Oh, yeah, breaking cards at the UFC thing. It's like, live your life, Tom. Live your life. Tom's playing flag football in America now.

22:53Peter Schrager:Yeah. I bet he's pumped. Yeah, smart.

22:55Pat McAfee:He's playing flag football in America. And I'll tell you what, he's taking it serious.

23:02Connor McGovern:He better be.

23:02Pat McAfee:What is your problem? Why are you laughing like that?

23:05Connor McGovern:I read the same thing. I hadn't visualized him taking a couple drawbacks until right then. I was like, wow, that's Tommy.

23:12Pat McAfee:He's owning an NFL team, so obviously he's dialed in. Let's head over to the free agency fund zone. Schrags, the Raiders want the time. They want ham. Did we expect that yesterday? What team surprised you most?

23:21Darius Butler:We did. The Raiders, they spent a lot of money. And I get a little prickly when people say, well, they overpaid for the center, Linderbaum. And it's like, no, that's the tax you have to pay when you're a crappy team. I call it the crappy team tax. And for years, the Jacksonville Jaguars had to overpay to bring guys in. And guess what? Linderbaum wasn't leaving Baltimore for a million dollars more. There's a guy from Salon, Iowa. Ty, am I saying that right? Salon, Iowa, who lived on a farm in Iowa and then comes to Baltimore. He's not going to Sin City for the same amount of money to play for the decrepit Raiders.

23:56Darius Butler:No, you have to pay more. And that's what they did. And SpyTech had the assets and he does it. I also want to clarify, it's Linderbaum, not my people, Linderbaum. Is that right? Are we okay with that? That is correct.

24:07Pat McAfee:There's a lot of Linder Baums happening yesterday. It's Linder Baum. Baum. Yeah, Baum. That said, this is a bunch of pros.

24:15Darius Butler:D-Bot said it best. You pay because you have to bring in actual professionals. And last year, they were a patchwork team with guys like Devin White and Jamal Adams and Eric Stokes. And these are guys who were veterans, but guys who were kind of castaways from other teams. Now, these are players that other teams wanted, and they're choosing to go to Vegas. I find it fascinating that they did spend that much money. As Adam Schefter said yesterday, the most money ever paid to an interior offensive lineman. It's to a guy that Baltimore Ravens did not pick up his fifth-year option less than a year ago.

24:49Darius Butler:But they value what that is. And in Rick Denison's offensive line room, and when you talk about Clint Kubiak and what they do with the running game, center is an important piece.

25:01Pat McAfee:Yeah, agreed.

25:01Darius Butler:Essentially, it's Crosby for Linderbaum and a bunch of different guaranteed money that goes both ways. And we'll say we'll see where our chips fall. But they're going to get Fernando Mendoza an all-world center, and they did. And, yes, they paid a lot, but don't tell me they overpaid. That's the tax when you're a crummy team.

25:15Pat McAfee:Fernando Mendoza, good call. Go ahead, Dan. Fernando. Tell me how perfect Fernando Mendoza is for the Las Vegas Raiders and why you love him as the number one overall pick and while you are watching the entirety of the college football season, not just the first four games. Listen, I got through four games. I watched seven to nine NFL games on Monday morning before I get on get up because that is what is tasked to me going through the draft process. I've only been able to see eight of Fernando. But what you have seen of Fernando thus far, I think you've got to the Big Ten championship game now.

25:46Dan Orlovsky:I'm through the Big Ten title game, yes.

25:46Pat McAfee:I know, and those college football games are a little slower than these NFL games you're able to watch every night. But I understand what you're saying. I completely agree with that. But with what Fernando is as a player from what you've learned thus far, what do you like about what Las Vegas has done with the Raiders? And why do you think there is a chance for immediate success maybe over there, Dano, for a rookie quarterback?

26:04Dan Orlovsky:Yeah, so first I want to touch on the Raiders element and mainly Linderbaum and Jalen Naylor, okay? One, Linderbaum, in this style of offense, there's a couple things you have to be as a center with Clint Kubiak's run game offense. One, you have to be unbelievably athletic in space. That's a requirement. You can't just be like this big, almost stiff, but still good, but stiff offensive lineman. Space, okay? You got to be able to run and pull. Think of like Chris Myers back in the day for the Houston Texans, almost like a Kelsey, not that extreme, but like that, okay? Two, you got to be incredibly smart.

26:42Dan Orlovsky:The center is a guy that so often is telling the offensive line like, hey, no, we're not going to that linebacker. We're going to that linebacker because that safety dropped down weak side. We're changing our landmarks. You don't want to tax Fernando Mendoza or any rookie quarterback with that. You want him to be able to, we call him Siri, C-I-R-I, call it, run it. Don't think. We're just calling this play, run the play, okay? You got to have a center to do that. Naylor's a big deal in relation to Mendoza because Naylor's a speedster, a guy that can go down the field, make big plays with his speed, okay?

27:12The thing that I would probably say that Mendoza throws the best

27:17Dan Orlovsky:outside of the back shoulder fade is the deep ball. You go to the Big Ten title game, it's the big post down the middle of the field that kind of swings the game, third, second half, and the goal ball. I do think he throws those really well, so I like that. in specific to Fernando through the Big Ten title game, he's phenomenally tough. I think that his ability to not allow what's happening in the game to impact what he's going to do on the next play is a great quality. It's a great quality. I've talked about he's very good operating the RPO. He's outstanding throwing the back shoulder fade. I think he's very physically tough and mentally tough.

27:54Dan Orlovsky:And then he's been clutch in all the games that I've watched late in games. He has had to make a throw not all the games most of the games he said to make a throw that was meaningful and he's made it and so um i would still tell you uh here we go no that was good though you don't have to do that here however i would still tell you that on tape i think ty simpson's tape is more impressive have you watched the entire season yet no okay enough period just watch the football season. Let him talk. You asked me the question. I'm answering the question.

28:28Travis Kelce:He did say yesterday Ty Simpson against the Wisconsin backups was

28:32Dan Orlovsky:dynamite. Yo, Ty Simpson's Wisconsin tape is great. I'll say this. I'm being dead serious. If Ty Simpson was 6 '4", the Jets would sprint to the podium at number two. Oh, I wish.

28:40Pat McAfee:Okay, 6 '4", I agree. If he was 6 '4", that'd be cool. How tall is Fernando? 6 '5". If I was 6 '6",

28:46Connor McGovern:I'd be starting opening day for the Yankees.

28:48Pat McAfee:That'd be so cool. No, you wouldn't. Dude, would you imagine what I would have done to Kershaw? could you imagine what I would have done to Kershaw if I was 6 '6"? You put three inches on me. 45 pounds, maybe? Judgey who? Yeah, exactly.

29:02Peter Schrager:What we're saying is that you wasted your height.

29:04Pat McAfee:Yeah. Oh, shit. You had a great career. 11 years. 11 years. 12 years. 12 years of the career. But on that note, can you please not talk about the college quarterback thing until you watch all the games? You literally just asked me about it. No, you're the one that said,

29:20Dan Orlovsky:okay, is it time for me to say this? That's what you said. That is what you said. No, you said, talk to me about Fernando Mendoza. Simpsons tape is better, though? Simpsons tape is phenomenal. I'm only through about, I think, Thanksgiving. Traigs, enough. Stop doing that, Traigs. I do think that Mendoza will be the first pick because I'm not a big old dummy and everyone is saying that.

29:39Pat McAfee:Traigs.

29:40Dan Orlovsky:No, fine. Peter Traigs.

29:43Pat McAfee:All right, let's get out of the fun time. Hey, Tone. No, no, don't. Tone. You didn't need to do that. I didn't need to do that. Sorry. All right. Thank you from the fun zone. Hell yeah. Sorry, Dan. I didn't mean to. It's a fun, fiery zone today.

29:56Peter Schrager:It is. There's a little sauce down there. I'm too out of shape for you to be coming at me right now.

29:59Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, yeah, he's in much better. I mean, he put on a 14-year-old kid who's never seen a basketball in a hoop display earlier that I've never seen in a full certain time. I mean, big pop. I like that. I mean, full dripping in sweat, Dan Orlovsky. Oh, basketball. Oh, another one. Oh, baseball. I mean, it was unbelievable watching him. Dan, we love you. You too, Shrags. We also love the man that's joining us right now. He's heading into his 14th season. He'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer, we think. Who knows? You know, should be a first ballot Hall of Famer, and that should mean something.

30:33Pat McAfee:Because that means that you have separated yourself from your class, from the sport, and from everybody as being one of the pillars of our league. A person that needs to be remembered whenever the story of the league is told. This guy is certainly that. Just an Ohio football folk who's gone on to do great things with incredible work ethic, and now the whole world knows him as Taylor's football man. Ladies and gentlemen, Travis Kelsey.

30:59Peter Schrager:Let's go! How are you, dude? Making another run at it, baby. Making another run at it, and the Chiefs are making moves, Pat.

31:06Pat McAfee:Yes, you are. The Chiefs are making moves.

31:09Peter Schrager:We got Brett Veach and Andy Reid going and getting the Super Bowl MVP. You kidding me?

31:14Pat McAfee:Kenneth Walker is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, which is weird because every good player seemingly always ends up at the Kansas City Chiefs. Would have never expected the Super Bowl MVP to be a Kansas City Chief. But let's talk about your energy right now. Hey, first of all, love to see how happy you are, dude. Love to see how happy you are. Not only when we talk to you, but New Heights and everything else. You're clearly enjoying the hell out of your life. We are happy for you. Tell me about this energy you have for coming back to football, though. Did you ever think about stopping this year?

31:40Pat McAfee:Feels like it wasn't a real convo this year, maybe as opposed to some years past.

31:45Peter Schrager:Yeah, I'm not going to lie. It was pretty short and brief, and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it. I think you always need to take a step back. You always need to take a step back, breathe, let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is and things like that. But, man, I'm still in love with this game. I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out, and just playing the game. And I think my best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back with Pat Mahomes and Coach Reed and got my guy Eric Biennemi, Coach Biennemi back.

32:23Peter Schrager:There's a lot of pieces in Kansas City that I just absolutely love and I can't wait to get back in the building with them.

32:29Pat McAfee:I'm pumped to hear that as a football fan. The entire football world is excited to watch you continue to play football in this historic career that you're having. I think whenever you're on New Heights talking about Biennemi with your brother, you said I can't wait to see him back in the building and I don't know if you saw our response immediately afterwards but it was like well what's he doing is he stalking the building why are he

32:49Peter Schrager:yeah the thing is once I started dating Taylor I started understanding what Easter eggs were you start kind of just placing those things all over the planet and everybody starts to catch on yeah that was a slip up I didn't even realize I said that

33:03Pat McAfee:it was a good Easter egg though if you were doing that can we talk about Taylor for a second Of course, always. I never want to do that strictly because I want you to know that we respect the shit out of what you've done for football. We also appreciate the fact how you're representing football to the world, to a lot of people. So we love you for that. Never want to take advantage of the relationship you're in. But every time I talk about you guys, I think you've heard me say this, like two greats together is good for society. I feel like you two can motivate each other. Now, I know she's biggest star on earth, so I'm not saying that I think you are same as her.

33:33Pat McAfee:Yeah, right, we all understand the situation with Taylor. You do too.

33:36Peter Schrager:We all understand it. Yeah, exactly.

33:38Pat McAfee:You do as well, which is why I think you were the perfect person for her. But you watching her do her thing and continue to move and move and move and work. Is that certainly helped you think through this process of like, do I still want to go? I'm getting older body doing that. Do you think that is kind of without a doubt?

33:51Peter Schrager:Yeah, without a doubt. She has we share the same love for what we do. And we've had this, you know, fortunately, we've had this desire since we were kids in our in our selective professions. And it's just, it's amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding, you know, new melodies and things like that. And on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does. And, yeah, of course that's motivating. That's motivating for anybody to see, let alone, you know, my fiance. And knowing that I'm going through something where I'm trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me.

34:30Peter Schrager:something like that definitely motivates me to say, you know what, I'm not done either. You know, I still got some ideas in the back of my mind. I still got some juice left to play this game. So without a doubt, Pat.

34:41Pat McAfee:How has the training been going? You look good. Hey, jaw looks good right now. You're glowing.

34:45Peter Schrager:Yeah, we got this thing nice and shaved up. No, I think I've been having a few too many garage beers right now. Never too many. but you know I need to get back into the uh into the gym and and really uh you know hunker down and get get back to the craft man I think uh I think the the biggest thing was coming back was that we got to be even hungrier than we've been before and uh talking to Pat talking to coach Reed and the guys it's uh it's a pretty there's a lot of dog mentality right now to get this thing fixed and uh and then and that mentality itself is already kind of motivating me to to to get to where I need to be during the season.

35:23Pat McAfee:A hungry Chiefs team is obviously something that we have seen in the past have great success, go to dynastic level, and then now sportsbooks still have you guys up high, but national conversation is like, eh, you know, especially with what's going on in the AFC. Max Crosby just went to the Raiders. Yeah, Raiders in the division. Oh, my God. The Raiders just spent$280 million yesterday. Oh, my God. Jim Harbaugh's got McDaniel out there at the Chargers. The Broncos bowing next. It was just an AFC championship. Oh, the Chiefs are assed. That is kind of the notion. You guys have kind of understood that, heard that, did you expect that?

35:59Pat McAfee:Like, is that something that is kind of motivating the boys over there? I assume it would have to be.

36:03Peter Schrager:We're seeing what the world's doing right now. We're seeing how everybody's reacting. But we know we got the nucleus in Kansas City. We got some big hitters in Kansas City, and we got Coach Reed. So we're never out of this thing. Well, we know the division is getting pretty competitive across the board. And, you know, that's only going to make it for us to get better throughout the season and be the best team we can be at the end of it.

36:28Pat McAfee:Proud of you, man.

36:29Peter Schrager:We hear it all, though. We hear it all, though.

36:31Pat McAfee:Oh, I like that. I like you guys got a little pettiness in there. Yeah. Need to keep a little pettiness and spite in there. You want to keep grinding, you know. Maybe some Easter eggs in here. Yeah. Maybe we feel a little high school when we start doing some pranks. You know what I mean? Maybe we do this. You're the man. Thank you for joining us, dude. Congrats.

36:47Peter Schrager:Always. Always. Appreciate the time. Good to see you guys, man. Always, always tuning in.

36:52Pat McAfee:Can you please post the renovations that your mom's doing? Please.

36:57Peter Schrager:You already know. I didn't even know she was doing these things. If she needed a guy to come, you know, screw some door hinges in, she could have just called me, but I guess she's doing a big, massive renovation.

37:09Pat McAfee:What a time. These two Ohio boys. Okay?

37:13Peter Schrager:Just Ohio ball player, baby.

37:15Pat McAfee:Mom's renovation at house. TMZ breaking news. Biggest news of the week. What a time to be alive. You've earned it all, brother. You've earned it all. Good luck to you guys. And we'll have some garage beers to your 14th year. You're the man.

37:26Peter Schrager:My man. We'll see you guys.

37:28Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, the goat, Travis Kelsey. Yay, Travis. Okay, so let's head to the free agency fun zone. A man who travels always out to Kansas City, you know, and has a lot of close connections out there. Schrags, were you hearing the same thing about the Chiefs that Travis just said? basically a bunch of hungry dogs out there that's why they made this decision so quickly well it

37:47Darius Butler:sure seems like everyone else has moved on from the Chiefs and they hear it all they really do and it starts with number 15 under center and as he's rehabbing and getting back he is watching and listening all and I think that is the under known or undersold piece about Patrick Mahomes he's got that same Michael Jordan chip on his shoulder where he hears and sees it all and Bradford Smith might have said what I'm going to create it in my head and we'll make sure that we'll be able to get that last dance done. It starts with Mahomes. It goes to Kelsey, but around that entire team, when you lose Trent McDuffie and you lose Jalen Watson, and then you get all these people saying, well, the time has passed.

38:22Darius Butler:Are they a Super Bowl threat or are they going to miss the playoffs again? There's a lot of pride there. So you see Kelsey with a glint in his eye right there talking about Eric Biennemi coming back. There could be a different energy in that room now. A little bit more intensity perhaps is what Eric Biennemi is known for and andy reed still believes he's the best coach in football so as a fan of football watching that i'm excited to see travis kelsey back if i am a kansas city chiefs fan i am jumping through the screen excited to see that he's got that energy and that passion and that motivation and clearly there is a chip or maybe a mountain on the shoulders of that chief's kingdom right now

38:58Dan Orlovsky:i think for the chiefs too it's a different era they're no longer the hunter hunted for the hunter Sure. You know, like there there's teams in the AFC that have candidly over the last two years been better football teams. I would sit here and tell you that Broncos have last two years. Now, two years ago, they weren't at the end result better. But I would say that because of the close wins, you would sit there and be like the Broncos were probably the better team over the last two years. Houston's the better team. Obviously, New England's coming along. Jacksonville was a better team.

39:27Darius Butler:This is what Kelsey wants to hear, too. Keep going.

39:29Dan Orlovsky:But that's the truth, you know? And losing, I think they lost three starters out of their secondary last year with Watson, McDuffie, and Brian Cook gone. Now they sign Alohi Gilman. So it's just a different version for Kansas City, legitimately. We've talked about it for years, maybe 18 months to two years. I think it's a different world now because they get to kind of relish being the hunter rather than the hunted. I'd also say this. They got to play a different style of football on offense. I think they finally came to the realization this year like, oh, we can't just rely on Patrick all the time to do the most wild things and bail us out.

40:08Dan Orlovsky:Like, yes, Kenneth Walker has to carry the football. They've got to get more balanced. They've got to get more physical. They've got to run the football.

40:16Pat McAfee:Yeah, I like that, Dan. Thank you for the breakdown. Kenneth Walker coming over there is obviously a massive ordeal for them. I think Travis Kelsey is probably pretty excited. You know, we talk about them being the hunter and not the hunted anymore. Still the odds-on favorite to win the division. AFC West, DraftKings currently plus 165. Chargers make all moves. Okay, sounds good. Broncos, you want to AFC? Okay, sweet. Raiders, oh, that's funny. 281 million, got a new quarterback. That's cool. Do the Chiefs still play football over there? That is what the sportsbooks are saying. Sportsbooks are saying you're going to have to show us because the things that have been said about the Chiefs over the last two or three years have been they don't win games.

40:51Pat McAfee:They're not pretty. They don't win pretty. It's very close. It's kind of an ugly style of football, and we always leave saying, are the Chiefs? Chiefs are dead. And then there's a couple of us that will stand up on a microphone and say, I know it didn't look good. And I know they couldn't complete a pass somehow for three quarters, best quarterback of all time. They get a win. We move on. The Chiefs is still the Chiefs. I will say that. And then it gets loud. And I'll tell you, last year, I actually thought, I said, the Chiefs ain't the Chiefs anymore. But I think a reloaded squad now with Kenneth Walker, with, it sounds like the enemy back in the building is very good for Travis Kelsey and that Kansas City Chiefs team.

41:31Pat McAfee:Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback, it's like maybe the sports books are actually feeling how I'm feeling, which is why not a motivated, hungry squad over there in Kansas City, D-Bucks?

41:39Travis Kelce:Yeah, we shall see. And I was right there with you for a while last season, up to the point where I had to put that exclamation point on the whiteboard. I didn't want to do it, but I saw that they were dead and I saw what was going on around them. We talked about everything with the different teams building up. This is why it's so tough to maintain a dynasty, and they've been a dynasty already. Can they go on another run and win a couple more? Absolutely. Will Mahomes still there? What will be his timeline? Will he be healthy week one? So it's still a lot of questions right now for the Chiefs, but if Mahomes healthy, Kelsey's healthy, you mentioned you're losing three guys who got paid in free agency.

42:13Travis Kelce:Those are three good ballplayers in that secondary. You still got a great coaching staff. So all the pieces are still there, but it's tough to go up there and get back to the top.

42:21Peter Schrager:To Dan's point, I think it kind of is shocking. Like the last two years, it was the offense's fault. The last two years, the defense has been top five both years. And that's Spags. And yes, they did lose three guys out of the secondary, but I think Spags will probably have the defense right again. But yet, Patrick Mahomes has been their leading rusher. He was their leading rusher last year. And over the last three years, I believe, is their leading rusher cumulative. So it has to change. It has to be better on the offensive side of the ball. And it all starts with the offensive line. They drafted left tackle in the first round last year.

42:50Peter Schrager:It was pretty good there. but they still need to get better on the offense.

42:53Pat McAfee:There was a bunch of stats that they were dropping on the SportsCenter free agency countdown with Laura. They were dropping like, Patrick Bowman's been a leading rusher for this, the average yards per rush and this and everything else. Everything happened. It was like a bunch of information that was coming out quick. And it's like, that is why everybody was saying they were asked last year. And then once they finally did just kind of get eliminated, which was the case. They were playing for nothing last multiple weeks of the season. Travis Kelsey's ass still out there.

43:19Peter Schrager:Yep.

43:19Pat McAfee:Okay, that was year 13 for him.

43:21Peter Schrager:With Gardner and Chris Elutekin.

43:23Pat McAfee:Boom, still going for it. Gardner almost got him a win over Raiders Chargers. I forget which one it was. It was about a yard off. There's this difference between Patrick Mahomes and who was the quarterback? It was – what was the guy? Chris Elutekin? Yeah. Was that who it was? Adam Elutekin, yeah. Okay, he was like this far off from hitting Travis for like a fourth down, either in the fourth quarter or something like that. But if he completes that, it's a game winner. The Chiefs win some wild thing. And it was like in that play, it was the depiction. and it's like that's the difference between like Mahomes right there and a guy that's not going to be on the team.

43:51Pat McAfee:Because Travis Kelsey was playing these games that didn't matter at all. Travis Kelsey was potentially risking his entire offseason being surgery and rehab with everything he has going on in his life at this point with wondering whether or not he was going to play another year. Not only did he play in those completely pointless games, okay, there were pointless games. Granted, you get paid to play in all of them. But the Chiefs were playing in pointless games, and he was maybe done. I think that bodes well for the culture, especially if he's coming back. He said he's had a couple garage beers.

44:16Pat McAfee:What? Maybe some whiskeys. You've seen me on a microphone everywhere that I go. I have to have a good time. I'll go down to TGL. Maybe have one of them vodka drinks. What do they call them? Transfusion. Didn't really know what it was. He said, I'll get back in shape, though. But him making that announcement early, first day of free industry frenzy, I'm coming back, helps the Chiefs out a lot, which is what a lot of the Pittsburgh Steelers fans are saying about Aaron. Like, hey, if we're doing this, let's do it. And then Aaron last week said, well, I don't have a contract, so what do you want me to do?

44:45Pat McAfee:I'll tell you what needs to be done. baseball needs to not stop okay we're staring down a potential work stoppage in like a year or whatever at mlb and i am just now and i know it's been around a long time some would say some would say very long time very long time i've seen the black and whites i know this is way back in the day i know baseball is really old i'm getting into baseball all the way into baseball world baseball classic is spectacular we need baseball to continue to go up and right hope that we don't need to forecast in the future that this whole thing is going to stop because it feels like it It is a wagon.

45:17Pat McAfee:Last night, we get another huge win. We don't cover. Last night, we get a huge win, Ty. World Baseball Classic delivering right now for all of us.

45:24Connor McGovern:Yeah, it is. I mean, obviously, our games are always going to deliver, but every game, it's not just BS to say all of these countries really, really care about this and they want to put on for their country. Last night, I mean, we've heard Skeens talk about how impressive and how important it is, but early and often, Captain America, Aaron Judge, with an absolute strike to cut down Joey Ortiz at third base. And he responds in the next inning by hitting an oppo two-run homer to get USA on the board. This has kind of been the thing with all their games. I don't want to say they're tight early, but they obviously feel the tremendous amount of pressure on them.

46:02Connor McGovern:So for Judge to come in and do that early, that was huge. And then Roman Anthony, after getting thrown out early and looking like maybe the slowest man in America, He hits a massive three-run homer to put us up 5-0. At that point, it looked like we were going to roll. And luckily, we're talking about biggest stars in Kansas City. Bobby Witt Jr., shortstop for the Kansas City Royals. We said this when we were at their training camp. This guy's just special. And the amount of plays he made last night, just looking like an absolute wizard. Now, it helps when you have Alejandro Kirk, who is one of the biggest wobble bodies in the MLB, running down to first base.

46:38Connor McGovern:So he had plenty of time to throw him out. But seeing two of these games or two of these plays in that game, I mean, these are massive moments. That's what you listen to the broadcasters. And these types of games, like Mexico has multiple MLB All-Stars. So this isn't just like another one of these teams who it's a fun story. So you give teams extra outs, like they will hurt you. We weren't giving them any extra outs last night with Paul Skeens. He was absolutely tremendous. This looked like it was the middle of June. All his stuff was working. I want to say he topped out at 100. So the atmosphere, the energy, the environment, he kind of alluded to it pregame.

47:16Connor McGovern:This was probably one of the biggest, most important games he started in his career, maybe outside of the national championship. And he had all his stuff working early. It was one of those things where the pitch count limits him. If Skeens would have been able to throw six, seven innings, we would have beat the hell out of Mexico. He probably would have had 15 strikeouts. He had seven through four, which was a Team USA record. But just tremendous stuff out of skeins. The bullpen, you know, little shoddy. Later, we had a guy who's a starting pitcher pitching long relief. He gave up a couple homers too.

47:48Connor McGovern:Jaron Duran, who is, you know, an all-star for the Red Sox. He was very good. But ultimately, this is the kind of game we needed. Mexico's very, very good. And, you know, we win 5-3. We are 3-0 in our pool. and we play tonight against Italy to potentially go 4-0 and get that top seed.

48:05Pat McAfee:Uh-oh, shut down the Lavazza. Okay, no espressos tonight. Grazie, prego. Okay, as the USA boys continue their dominance of this pool play for a World Baseball Classic. Nolan McClain, this is who everybody's talking about. Oh, yeah. They're saying he's a guy.

48:21Connor McGovern:Next up. Former quarterback at Oklahoma State as well. Oh, really?

48:25Pat McAfee:Whedon in this entire thing. Who's he pitched for now? Mets. Okay. Yeah, Steve Cohen say you're coming on over here, bud. That's what you're doing. I will say this. That Dominican team scares me a little bit. They're having a lot more fun than everybody else is. They are having fun. It's a party on the diamond. You know when Machado plays? Oh. Back to – How about Austin Wells? They're telling me this guy just got recruited to go play for him.

48:51Peter Schrager:He doesn't have the same pizzazz as the rest of the team.

48:53Pat McAfee:He's hitting dongs too. I mean, they're all going crazy down there. And every single thing is getting celebrated as it should, by the way. I think I found the style of baseball that I like. However the Dominican Republic plays baseball, that's what I like. We got dong shots. I mean, one dong after, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong, dong. They're hitting them out of the stadium, and they're pimping everyone. So bright. I mean, everyone is getting pimped fully. We got a jacket. We got a chain. We got a long trip around these bases. Let's let this pitcher feel every last step.

49:31Pat McAfee:I mean, there's Ric Flair coming around first base, and then there's full celebration. It is spectacular. It is absolutely awesome.

49:38Peter Schrager:And then Japan, they're playing over there in Japan. Anything good happens, roof off the place.

49:45Pat McAfee:I mean, it is. I like what baseball is doing right now. It was a way game for the boys down here in Houston, it felt like.

49:51Connor McGovern:And that was another thing. that was why it was important.

49:55Pat McAfee:D-Row had to say that to the boys. Skipper D-Row had to say it to the boys. I heard it last night. They said on broadcast that D-Row came in and said, boys, tonight might feel like an away game.

50:04Connor McGovern:Yeah.

50:04Pat McAfee:In Houston, Texas. Wow. That's for a bigger discussion than the night, but we need to go win this thing. And I'll tell you what we did.

50:10Travis Kelce:Mm-hmm. We did. I need that cover.

50:13Pat McAfee:Hell yeah, I did. Yeah. It's 12.50. We got seven minutes to a hard out, and that feels like that's the perfect time to send it over to the free agency fun zone for fits from yesterday. You know, whenever you talk about free agency and money being spent, we always talk physical. But Schrags said, hey, how about we talk about the culture fits that maybe took place yesterday and what people are trying to establish? Schrags, what's your big takeaway from a fits perspective of the first day of free agency frenzy?

50:37Darius Butler:Malik Willis wasn't going to be for everybody. Malik Willis wasn't going to be the starting quarterback for everybody. Malik Willis makes a lot of sense for the Miami Dolphins. The money is fine. The money is not crazy. The money is not something that the Dolphins are going to lose sleep over. but there is no group of people in the entire NFL who know more about that quarterback than Jeff Halfley, John Eric Sullivan, and John Robinson. So John Robinson, it was the general manager of the Tennessee Titans with Mike Vrabel in Tennessee when they drafted Malik Willis. John Robinson has been in the wilderness for the last couple of years.

51:11Darius Butler:He was hired a couple months ago by the Miami Dolphins to be a part of their front office. So now you have the guy who drafted Malik Willis, the GM who was a part of the group that brought him in last time with the Packers and then you have the defensive coordinator who saw Malik Willis in person every day for two years all three of them vouching for Malik Willis you better believe that the Miami Dolphins have conviction and that they want him as their quarterback I could tell you that Malik Willis went through the not Malik Willis Jeff Halfley went through the head coaching hiring process and part of his plan when he presented it to Troy Aikman and to Stephen Ross and to Danny Silman and to that entire D 'Alfin's brass was we need to make a change at quarterback and I think I have the right guy so this one as far as everyone says well he hasn't done anything he's done squat in the league what's going to happen when he's in Buffalo in December well those are all valid questions there is no group of people in the entire NFL who know Malik Willis more than the triumphant of men Halfley John Eric Sullivan and John Robinson more than those three guys so I would say that fit makes sense for Miami.

52:14Darius Butler:It might not work for Arizona. It might not work for Pittsburgh. It made sense for Miami.

52:19Pat McAfee:We loved him yesterday. Coming fresh out of our workout. He was awesome. Leak is a good nickname, too. Hey, Leak looks good. I saw a lot of people in the comments doing that. Him and Miami should be a fantastic thing. How about you, Dana? What about on the field? Any good fits that happened yesterday where money was spent?

52:34Dan Orlovsky:Yeah, plenty of good fits. I do like Malik in the timeline. I like some of the pass catchers. The addition of likely in New York, Wandao, Mike Evans. I want to show everybody though, Pat We want to get to that, right? Yeah, we want to get to that, right? Now I'm going to my Before I do that Let me get to my kid stuff For three Oh It would have been so smooth I'm going to catch and shoot Oh, okay

53:06Travis Kelce:Oh, this is bad Put on the line Overdue I thought you were showing us something. Hey, let me give you a better pass.

53:14Pat McAfee:Let me give you a better pass.

53:16Dan Orlovsky:Come on, D-Bot, my Yukon guy.

53:19Travis Kelce:Step in. Foot on the line again. Cash!

53:23Pat McAfee:I made them all. Is this a good fit? I don't know. Yay! Good hit.

53:30Dan Orlovsky:25%. You on the mound?

53:32Pat McAfee:What is this? Hold on, hold on, hold on. Hold on. Look at his stance. Here you go, Gump.

53:38Travis Kelce:Hey, who's that? Who the hell is?

53:41Pat McAfee:All right, there you go, Gump. Gump.

53:43Connor McGovern:Benji Molina?

53:44Pat McAfee:Hey, Alejandro Kirk. If you're in school. I'm in one of three kids. Okay, Dano, if you throw a strike right here. Okay, Gump. If I throw a strike or what? If you throw a strike right here.

53:54Dan Orlovsky:Okay.

53:55Pat McAfee:$20 ,000 donation to a charity of your choosing. From the windup? Whatever the hell you want. Do the whole thing, dude. Good work. Not bad. Did this thing drop down? Tap the thing. Good work, Gov. Up in front of you. Up in front of you. In front of you. Up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up. There you go.

54:14Travis Kelce:One punch? One punch.

54:15Pat McAfee:Oh, my God. You should not.

54:17Dan Orlovsky:I've got two fights in my life. I won one.

54:20Travis Kelce:One and one. Not bad. Are you a lefty? Oh, no. Hold on. That's 600. Oh, boy. That's not bad. That's not bad. Dude, that's a rope.

54:29Pat McAfee:Okay, now you're doing a putt. Okay, so we made a shot. We threw a strike. We threw a 600 punch, which is not going to knock anybody out. But now we're going to make a putt for$10 ,000. Jar. Yeah! Jar. All right, let's get to the film. Hey, that's pretty good. All right, let's get to the film. You're talking about Fitz. You've got about a minute and a half.

54:48Dan Orlovsky:All right, quickly, Foxy, this is good. Isaiah Likely, one-on-one. So the opportunity to put a guy one-on-one in the red zone, you can play it. And then watch where the ball placement is. Foxy, freeze it on the throw. This is going to be the big thing for Jackson Dart. We'll often say for quarterbacks, face mask or higher. Okay, face mask or high in the red zone because it matters. Belt buckle or lower. And so for Jackson Dart to have a big body guy, Neighbors is great. He's not that. Okay, so Isaiah Likely. Also the ability to just get them one-on-one. Now freeze it. These crossing routes. Okay, when you get one-on-one man coverage, imagine like this is Malik Neighbors or whatnot.

55:19Dan Orlovsky:Like this is a nice job of crossing across the field. You could play at Foxy. One-on-one versus man coverage. Jackson Dart making that throw. So I like Likely in addition to New York. Okay. Huge addition. Okay, let's go to the next one, Foxy. Mike Evans, Devontae Adams. I think Devontae Adams rams. One-on-one down the red zone. This is even like a difficult throw for him. Just give him a chance to make that throw if you're Brock Purdy, okay? So that was the fade. He butt knows this. Now watch him win the slant, okay? And watch where he just puts this ball, Baker Mayfield. That's going to be Brock Purdy.

55:49Dan Orlovsky:So just those one-on-one opportunities for a guy down in the red zone to win. I love the addition in San Francisco. Michael Pittman, Jr. Oh, yeah. Okay, Pittsburgh. Now think about this, Aaron Rodgers. Can we throw the ball in the middle of the field a little bit more in these possession throws? I want you to freeze out of the top, Bucky, right there. Okay, so see how Pittman gets to the top of his route? Where are his eyes? He's all looking in here, okay? He's looking in here because he's trying to see what the defense is doing. Okay, now I don't want you to run full sprint. I want you to sit and be boring.

56:17Dan Orlovsky:Aaron's going to see this the same way. So that, the ability to see the defense the same way as the quarterback is a really big deal. Once again, up top, Michael Pittman Jr., okay? See the timing of this? See how he's – there's a defender here. There's a defender here. There's a defender here. I need the receiver to see there's a void here and there's a void here. You have to see it the same way as the veteran quarterback. Beautiful. Beautiful. Sit in that soft spot. So they needed that in Pittsburgh. All right, so Danos, good job. That boy Danos.

56:47Pat McAfee:Good job Danos. Sounds like perfect Fitz for made money was spent. Perfect fit. I don't love the Pittmans in Pittsburgh. I wish we had them in Indy. But in Indy is Dano, Shreg, Shefty, our two of free agency frenzy. Day two will be on the other side of this break. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice might change your life.

58:16Pat McAfee:Hello, beautiful people. And welcome back to our humble abode, the Thunderdome. On this day two of NFL deal making, March 10, 2026, also known as... We can't thank you enough for allowing us to do this for a living. That's Darius J. Butler right there. The toxic table at Boston Conner and at Ty Schmitter right there. One half of the hammer. Cowboys AP tone is sitting nice with a beautiful cowboy hat. It's not just us on this beautiful Thunderdome. It's not just us on this free agency frenzy Tuesday. We also have senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter, and in the free agency fun zone, Dan Orlovsky and Peter Schrager.

58:55Pat McAfee:Now, Orlovsky ended the hour with an incredible breakdown of why some of these wide receivers fit at some of these teams that they just signed massive deals to, but also put on a little athleticism display that I don't think we had seen coming. Did not know it was going to happen. Obviously, we laid out things at each one of the particular spots. Did not know he was going to go in that particular order. He throws up a couple terrible basketball shots. Then he puts one down. Finally. Then he steps on the mound and starts talking to shit. Earlier today, he said, I was A-Rod before A-Rod. Straight face.

59:22Pat McAfee:As he's spinning it into Thunderdome. Crazy thing to say, but he meant it. And that's why we love Dano. He throws a strike for$20 ,000 of charity. Then he goes over to punching game. Did not know he was going to sign up for that. Been in two fights in my life. I won one. Okay, he's batting 500. You're going to lose somebody once in a while when you're throwing hands. How's he going to do over there? 600 punch. People will mock him for that, I think, that have ever done the punch thing. I expected. It's Darylowski. It's Darylowski. What do you want from him?

59:45Connor McGovern:A lover, not a fighter.

59:46Pat McAfee:Yeah, exactly. He's got a pillow on the right, and he's got a sleep cycle on the left. Don't you worry about any of that. Yeah. What's that? He's got length. He doesn't have the power punches.

59:55Travis Kelce:He's got the strong jabs right to the jaw.

59:58Pat McAfee:Yeah, not even to the jaw. Also, you'll mess around with Dan, and Dan will all sign it. He'll smack in the back of the head.

1:00:03Travis Kelce:Might hit you with a windmill. Boom. You know what I'm doing?

1:00:05Pat McAfee:It's a move.

1:00:06Travis Kelce:Boom. Come over the top. That's going to happen.

1:00:09Pat McAfee:Dan's going to happen. So then he buries a putt. Then he comes up here and does amazing. We appreciate the hell out of you, Dan, for those fits. You as well, Shrags, for talking about the culture fit with Malik Willis there down in Miami.

1:00:20Darius Butler:A couple thoughts here. Yeah, go ahead, Shrags. I mean, just the entire energy of the day. I thought that was as much of an under-pressure performance that we've seen in sports over the last calendar year. If he fell on his face, do you realize the ribbing that we'd be giving him if he threw a wild pitch? I mean, incredible. And secondly, I know the Paul brother down there wants to talk about fighting an ex-football player. I saw a punch that went to 600 over here. I would pay good money to watch Dan Orlovsky in a boxing match take on either of the Paul brothers, WWE excluded, and I would be here right front row watching Rudy McGiagall.

1:00:57Pat McAfee:Dan, Dan, you're not representing football, buddy. No way are we letting that happen. No way is that happening. 600, Shregs? Is that not good? I mean, it's out of 500. Yeah, 600 out of 500. We actually turned the governor on so it wouldn't go up above 602, you know. So, I mean, there is a chance of that. But, Shregs, let's talk a little bit about this free agency frenzy. A lot of money spent yesterday. We haven't heard a damn thing today. I'm going to be honest. This has been a pretty slow day, too. We did not expect this. Why do you think that is the case, and what are your thoughts on what comes next, Reg?

1:01:27Darius Butler:Well, it was the mad dash to get to these guys that they've been talking about since the combine. They put their boards together, and, okay, we got to go. We got to do it, and it was fun, and everyone gets involved. And now it's who's going to make the next move. We had a night to sleep on it. Let's reassess the next year. To me, Trey Hendrickson, obviously, is the biggest name still on the board. We'll see how that goes down. Adam Schefter's been all over it all morning. We'll see what his asking price is, and we'll see if a team will match that asking price. It's also which teams that have been laying in the weeds are going to make a move.

1:01:54Darius Butler:It's actually very interesting to me. Three of the four teams that didn't make a move, the Eagles, the Seahawks, and the Denver Broncos, who didn't hire, who didn't sign anybody from outside their organization, all were playoff teams last year, and two of the three won Super Bowls in the last two years. So you start thinking about, okay, the Tennessee Titans, they went and spent$289.5 million and were treating Wandale Robinson like he's Jerry Rice over here. At some point, it's the team. It's the team that just retain their people and bring them back and think long term. Tennessee is interesting, though, because there is this new fever, this love.

1:02:28Darius Butler:But if you're a fan of New York sports and you see, you know, well, they're bringing all of Dable's guys. They're bringing all of Salah's guys. I can be critical here in a way of just saying, well, those were two of the worst teams in football the last few years.

1:02:41Pat McAfee:Stop using common sense in this entire thing.

1:02:44Darius Butler:That said, Elante Taylor, hell of a signing. Good player. He had a big market there. And then you like the guys that they brought in because they do fit the culture. And you know that Salah and Dable and Aaron Whitecotton, who's the defensive line coach, who now gets back Jermaine Johnson and on the defensive line here. Who's the other defensive lineman they got from the Jets? John Franklin Myers, who was there two years ago with the Jets. They get guys they know. So you're trying to build a culture and all this. But slow down. Let's not build a monument in Nashville just yet. It's got to actually happen on the field.

1:03:13Darius Butler:And day one of free agency, we don't crown Super Bowl winners.

1:03:15Pat McAfee:I wish we would, though, because we kind of did yesterday. everybody that signed somebody to big money we are so happy for them incredible i will continue to live off those highs as well for them raiders i can't wait for them to win the super bowl seahawks did it last year so maybe they were top five spenders they're able to do it but once you do get your team assembled then free agency becomes you know how do we fill the gaps in this entire thing let's go over to the man who's been on the inside of it all senior nfl insider from espn a man who we watched work yesterday what a chaotic existence but certainly a weapon uh adam Tom Schefter, how do you kind of see this day two of free agency frenzy going with not a lot of action?

1:03:51Adam Schefter:Well, Pat, you heard Peter talk about Trey Hendrickson. That's the biggest name that's out there right now. He's waited an awful long time to get to this spot in free agency. He's been talking to a lot of teams, obviously wants to get to a certain point. And the reason there's no deal right now is because up to this time, he hasn't. So we'll see if a deal for Trey Hendrickson can materialize. Every team out there could use a pass rusher. And there are certain teams that you might not expect to be in that market that suddenly are, like the Philadelphia Eagles lose yesterday their pass rusher to the Carolina Panthers.

1:04:24Adam Schefter:Maybe Philadelphia calls. You don't know. Dallas still hasn't filled that need to a great degree. They went and traded for Sean Gary. So it's hard to say which team is going to jump in and which team isn't, but we know there's a great player out on the market in Trey Hendrickson. Of course, we have the quarterbacks that are still out there. Kyler Murray has not been released from Arizona, as we discussed in the first hour. They're holding on to him to a certain deadline this week, maybe tomorrow, 4 p.m. Eastern. And Geno Smith in Las Vegas also has not been released from the Raiders yet. They have said that they would release him, barring a trade.

1:04:56Adam Schefter:We'll see what materializes with Geno Smith between now and 4 p.m. Eastern tomorrow. But he'll be leaving Las Vegas. Kyler Murray will be leaving Arizona. And the places that you look at right now, they have openings at the quarterback position. Minnesota is the obvious one for everybody, right? Everybody knows they're going to be bringing in another quarterback. They've been linked to Kyler Murray. They've been linked to Geno Smith. Kyler Murray is the logical favorite there in Minnesota for if and when he does get released. We'll see what happens with Geno Smith. He's played before in the New York market.

1:05:26Adam Schefter:The Jets could be an option in time. We'll see how that works out. But those are some of the moves we're waiting on. Trey Hendrickson, the biggest name. Some of the other names out there, we still could get a Romeo Dobbs signing during the course of this show. Caleb on Chasen, still out there. Caden Ellis, the Falcons linebacker. The punter market's dried up, though, Pat. All the punters are off the board. They've all been paid.

1:05:45Pat McAfee:Yesterday was a big day for the ball-kicking community. Honestly, watching those punters sign for$4 million,$5 million,$6 million. First day signing. That's not like, hey, we have money left. That's like, hey, let's go ahead and get this accomplished, get this done. You're part of the culture, and I respect that for the punters as a whole. We'll keep an eye to your Twitter account as news continues to break around the NFL. I do believe there was a deal, Shefty, that I think probably got texted to you. If you could put that up on your Twitter account so that we could do the cool glass break gimmick.

1:06:13Pat McAfee:You got it.

1:06:13Dan Orlovsky:You got it.

1:06:14Pat McAfee:All right. Thank you, Shefty. Thank you, Shefty. We shall wait now for the glass to break because there has been a move that this room will certainly be intrigued by. Okay. A move that is not only a big name but also a team that needs a missing bullet. Ooh. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time as we sit and wait. As maybe it wasn't our internet. Huh. Wow. Maybe it was the fingies. It was. Maybe it was the fingies. You know, we're taking a lot of shrapnel on our Wi-Fi. Our show had no problem yesterday. Maybe a little audio stuff. He's less than three feet away from us. Maybe a little audio stuff happened over there.

1:06:52Peter Schrager:The suspense is killing me.

1:06:53Pat McAfee:In the free agency fun zone. But there is certainly a signing that has taken place. And do we have the tweet up? Hold on. Give me a moment.

1:07:04Connor McGovern:You got to confirm? Got to cross the T's and dot the I's. Get the money, maybe. Yeah, yeah.

1:07:11Pat McAfee:It is. Oh, yeah. It needs the photo with the tweet. Yeah, look at it. Yeah, we're watching. Put it in.

1:07:17Adam Schefter:I don't need. You don't need to put it in. The Lions are signing Isaiah Pacheco. We wanted to do the thing.

1:07:23Pat McAfee:We wanted to do the thing. Did you put the thing up? Did you put the thing? I didn't put it. Yeah! You got one. Chef D. Tweet Day 2, free agency for X. We got one. Ah, this tweet was a tweet-tweet like he was a bird coming out of his mouth. Isaiah Pacheco is going to the Lions. Demo, one half of Sonic and Knuckles in the backfield for MCDC's Detroit Lions football team. Jared Goff's the quarterback. Who are the running backs? Well, it's Gibbs and Demo. Sonic and Knuckles. All of a sudden, Gibbs, though, starts a historic run. Every time he gets the ball, he's seemingly going for a touchdown. Demo, his carries start to dwindle down the stretch.

1:08:00Pat McAfee:It starts to become not just a Sonic and Knuckles, mostly just Sonic. Knuckles, where you been? Nowhere. They lose inevitably. Demo then, what's his market? What's he look like? Well, they get him in Houston. Now, are they going to continue a two-back system? Well, yes, they certainly are. Gibbs will continue to be Sonic, and they bring in a Knuckles, a guy who actually tries to beat up the ground with every single step that he takes. Isaiah Pacheco going to the Detroit Lions. Feels like a perfect fit. love everything about the move. Now, once again, is this going to take touches away from Gibbs?

1:08:31Pat McAfee:And are they going to end up doing the Gibbs show down the stretch and just, if he gets hurt, then Pacheco, balancing that is a part of the entire process. That's why having two running backs is certainly good, because you've got two guys fresh. But what if both of them get hot? Who do you keep? Who do you lose? It's happening with Team USA right now. At the shortstop position. Because we've got an abundance of talent, but only one person can play the position. Kind of started to happen with Detroit last year with Sonic and Knuckles. What happened again with Pacheco? They're saying, we don't care.

1:09:00Pat McAfee:We just want to add another great player to the backfield. What are your thoughts, Steve?

1:09:02Travis Kelce:Yeah, up until last year with Detroit, it was really balanced. Like, Monty would start a game. Gibbs would start a game. They were exchanged pretty much every series. And then, obviously, Gibbs became that lead back because he was so dynamic. But he does have some ebbs and flows in his game. Sometimes he'll kind of disappear as well. So, bringing Pacheco in there to kind of be that off-balance, I said it yesterday, I'm a big believer and a running back by committee. I do think you need a lead back. Gibbs will be that guy. I anticipate that he'll get a big check pretty soon. But you need a physical runner like Pacheco.

1:09:34Travis Kelce:A lot of people, I'm sure, casuals, but would have been much more excited about this signing maybe two years ago. But I think he's still a very, very good running back, and I think it's a good signing for Detroit.

1:09:42Pat McAfee:Chiefs bring in Kenneth Walker. They send Isaiah Pacheco to Detroit. I think he'll fit in well up there, Conman.

1:09:48Travis Kelce:Yeah, definitely, especially when you think about how high his knees goes. It feels like every time we talk about Pacheco, It's how angry he is at the ground. I couldn't even imagine what MCDC is thinking.

1:09:59Pat McAfee:I found a guy who can't eat his kneecap, man. He actually can't. He's too strong. His patella is too strong, potentially. You have to love this up in Detroit. Absolutely.

1:10:08Peter Schrager:I love everything about it. We have to get back to ground and pound football first and then play action second. Last year, it wasn't that way.

1:10:15Pat McAfee:We weren't controlling games because of that. And now I expect them to get a couple more linemen, ensure that thing up, and get back to MCDC-style football. Yeah, I know you guys have lost a couple legendary offensive linemen. Yeah, kicked him out of town. Kicked him out of town.

1:10:28Peter Schrager:They were great players a bit long in the tooth. Oh, my God. How dare you say that about Skip?

1:10:35Pat McAfee:That's disgusting you say that.

1:10:36Peter Schrager:I agree it was. It's just the truth. Foxy is. I can't remember. Is Pacheco, is he now? Is he ass or cheeks? No.

1:10:42Pat McAfee:Sonica and Knuckles are back. Pacheco would be cheeks. You would think it would be there. Pacheco. Yeah, but they're not going to be ass and pacheeks. They're not going to be that this year. That's what people were saying about Sonic and Knuckles up in Detroit for a certain time period of the year last year. We were just reporting what people were saying. We did not make it up. Believe me, we wish we did. We did not. That would have been very funny.

1:11:05Peter Schrager:We just report the news.

1:11:06Pat McAfee:The internet is funny. They are on it. They will never miss. So they said, Sonic and Knuckles, more like ass and cheeks. And boy, big pop out of all of us. So it made its way onto the show. And then all of a sudden, though, Sonic and Knuckles start coming back and dominating again. And then it's like ass-in-cheeks has gone by the wayside. We are now back to who we thought we were going to be. That all kind of happened when MCDC started calling the plays.

1:11:27Peter Schrager:That is correct.

1:11:28Pat McAfee:And who's calling the plays ever? Let's go to the free agency funds. A man who predicted that the Detroit Lions would be dead last year, and Peter Schrager and Dan Orlovsky, who certainly has thoughts on every offense. What does this signing mean, and what are your thoughts on the Lions? Start with you, Schrag.

1:11:42Darius Butler:Well, I love Pacheco. He's got to stay healthy. He was hurt a lot of the time the last two years. So he won Super Bowls, his first two years in the pros, the first NFL player ever to win Super Bowls starting at running back in back-to-back years to start a career. So he already has those big game experiences. Drew Petsing is the biggest question mark. Last year before the season started, I came on this very show and boldly said the Lions were not going to make the playoffs. I caught so much hell for it. I almost crawled to Detroit and said in bed for forgiveness. They didn't make the playoffs.

1:12:11Darius Butler:And up and down the offense was. They had big explosions, but it wasn't the same thing without Ben Johnson. So insert Drew Petsing, who the response to his hiring by Lions fans was not kind, was not widely applauded. But I would tell you, Drew Petsing is one of the more respected young offensive coaches in the league. Despite the fact Arizona's offense did not hit expectations the last couple years, he is looked at as one of these wunderkinds as well. and if Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes and that organization, knowing that they have a quarterback in Jared Goff who is not getting any younger and a wide receiver in Amon Rossane Brown and Penny Sewell on the offensive line not getting any younger, if they decided that this was the man, I would give them the benefit of the doubt.

1:12:55Darius Butler:You add Pacheco in there, you now have two very tough-running, good players in Jameer Gibbs and Isaiah Pacheco, but I do wonder, is that a downgrade, whatever, or an upgrade from David Montgomery who's given them so much over so many years.

1:13:11Pat McAfee:Yeah, David Montgomery and Gibbs were a great tag team. But it did clearly become the Gibbs show at the end of that. And I assume they're going to continue to commit to that. Dan, your thoughts on, you know, you lose Ben Johnson and it feels like the Ben Johnson effect was felt immediately in Chicago. They're trying to chase that still on the offensive side. What did you see from MCDC as a play caller that maybe you like for the Lions going forward? Or what do you think they need to do more of?

1:13:37Dan Orlovsky:well I think with Dan there's a identity that he wants he wants to be playing football the way his personality is like that big physical we do what we want when we want style of offense and they lost that last year because they lost they weren't nearly as good on the offensive line that's starting point for them they two years ago and three years ago when they were like down that magical run and Ben was cooking up these awesome plays it in part was because their offensive line was the best unit in football and so yeah they could run the ball on third and seven and it was cool and everyone was like wow this is awesome so fourth and one is a guaranteed first down running the football i think we haven't talked about it but they signed cade mays if i'm accurate from carolina so you you you bring in cade mays tate ratledge is going to be a second year player for them that really played pretty good football for them so now it's like you feel better about their offensive line now taylor decker who has been there for gosh a decade now i believe they have parted ways so they're going to have to find a left tackle but I do think the interior of their offensive line will be better than it was last year and I think that will allow them to get back to football I'll touch on Petsing a little bit because Colin Monday Night Football we've done it a couple times together I think he's really good in the run game personally I think he's he's really good with the diversity of their run he loves using tight ends obviously in Detroit Laporte is a big part of that the the asterisk that I would attach to it is they're going to need people in that building that are really good designing their pass game i i've always felt even in arizona that the pass game concepts they weren't as creative as i want them to be and so

1:15:13Pat McAfee:that's going to be a big deal in detroit a little bit more spark a little bit more pizzai yeah just

1:15:18Dan Orlovsky:how you get to the formations the motions the shifts the timings the releases all that stuff plays are plays are plays you're not reinventing football how you're getting to them is that's the secret sauce for these play callers and play designers. I think that's an important role in Detroit. Yeah, and Ben Johnson was the best at it. He doesn't look the part, Pat.

1:15:37Darius Butler:That's basically what he is. He's a shorter guy. He's bald. He doesn't look like... 5 '5", bald guy? This is not a guy who doesn't look like Sean McVay. He doesn't look like Ben Johnson.

1:15:50Pat McAfee:He's going to be next to MCDC? He doesn't look like Dave Gander.

1:15:53Darius Butler:So I think Lions fans see a visual of him, and they see that he was with the Cardinals. Come on, man. And they feel like that's a step down. That's going to happen. Come on, man. You can make a better call there, man.

1:16:03Connor McGovern:We were saying it about Mike McDaniel. That was like the final thing that I think happened before he got hired. His MCDC gave him a big wedgie and hung him by his underwear on the coat rack on the back of his door. So he could be eye to eye with him. We honestly don't know.

1:16:16Pat McAfee:McDaniel looking, or I'm sorry, MCDC looking down at him though and saying, deep shot.

1:16:21Travis Kelce:He might baby Bjorn him. We can't rule that out. That would be awesome. Yeah, exactly. So they're whispering to each other. has a family.

1:16:29Pat McAfee:No, we understand, but just MCDC is so large. So if he's going to be sitting there next to a 5 '5 ball guy who's the offensive coordinator, I think that's a good piece of journalism where we need to, you know, what's that? Now that we're talking about it, I'm assuming Petsing is saying, hey, look, I got to be in the booth. I'm not standing

1:16:46Travis Kelce:next to you. You're probably right. I'm going up top. I can see the field a little better from up there. It's a great look.

1:16:52Pat McAfee:I think he looks like a football guy. What do you mean? Everybody's saying he doesn't look like the part. What do you mean, Shrags? He doesn't look like a football guy? Is it because he took a picture next to MCDC?

1:17:00Peter Schrager:He's not standing next to anybody in that picture.

1:17:02Pat McAfee:Yeah, he looks eight feet tall in that photo. He does. That's actually some good camera work. He looks good in that photo. He looks good. I like him. You're saying people killed him, though, just because of the way he looks.

1:17:11Darius Butler:Yeah, because people are stupid, and they don't look at, like, okay, the guy's got 20 years of coaching football. Let's give him a shot. I just feel like it was a stereotypical take that every Lions fan had. Who is this guy? Wait, he looks like that? All right, I'm out. Give it a second. Let's see, because you could look like the greatest football coach in the world, from a movie and you could be Jon Voight from Varsity Blues truth of the matter is if you can't draw it up you can't draw it up Petson can draw it up yeah and I give that

1:17:34Pat McAfee:I give that whole thing a 10 a 10 10 yeah that was a great movie I was asked the other day at Radio Row Dan you've seen that movie Varsity Blues of course

1:17:46Dan Orlovsky:the clean version that was Dan's life shout out to James Van Der Beek yes rest in peace and Paul Walker rest in peace for sure whole cute bureau

1:17:55Pat McAfee:yeah definitely

1:17:57Connor McGovern:Coach.

1:17:57Pat McAfee:Man, what a movie. I didn't expect Dan O to be watching it.

1:18:01Connor McGovern:He's seen it on MTV where they bleep out all the swear words.

1:18:04Pat McAfee:And they go to commercial.

1:18:06Connor McGovern:Allie Lutter doesn't do the whipped cream.

1:18:08Pat McAfee:That scene is cut. He doesn't know the 10 thing I just did. No. He's like, oh, is that a play? I don't remember. He's seen the gif. Okay, I get it. Dan, we love you, man. We appreciate you doing it. I have seen that movie in the unedited form.

1:18:20Travis Kelce:Really? Don't lie. I was a teen in the 90s.

1:18:25Dan Orlovsky:I was a teen in the 90s.

1:18:26Pat McAfee:Yes, you were. Yes, you were. And we got a chance to see it. If there was a ball around, you were certainly going to try to break something with it.

1:18:31Dan Orlovsky:Dude, this place is the best, man. I would literally live here.

1:18:34Pat McAfee:Well, there's something to say about that. We appreciate you coming out here, Dano. Let's head back into Shefty. Oh, there's a photo I was just showing of the guy that I certainly probably saw others. Yeah. Ox. Football guy. Yeah, just absolutely through and through.

1:18:48Travis Kelce:That's the other reason the Lions fans are pissed, because they're just coming off of a short ball guy with Timmy Horton, who did not do well. Call him plays last year.

1:18:56Peter Schrager:Johnny Moe. Johnny Moe. Respect for Jimmy O's. The double-double foul.

1:19:01Pat McAfee:That was an interesting move, though, MCDC, picking up the play-calling duties while that guy's still there. Yeah. And then saying, just watch me. And then saying, I was with Ben Johnson, too. What a leave-in.

1:19:11Peter Schrager:I believe the first game he picked it up was against the 32nd-ranked defense. Yeah, it was. Yeah, and they hung 50 on him. It was a good play. He was back. Scored on every possession that game, actually.

1:19:21Pat McAfee:Okay, so let's talk about the current salary cap situation for teams. Because we already talked about who's spent. Let's see who still has money to spend at this point. Now, remember, you can get good deals right now. Guys can get$4 million or$5 million deals and really do some damage for the team. Still up over$90 million,$80 million there. And the Buffalo Beals,$10 million. They signed Connor McGovern to a deal. He'll be joining us in the next hour. Obviously, he's excited. I think they watched the program up there, so I think he's bumped. He just got paid very well. Then you've got some of these teams down here at the bottom that are trying to do some work to get back on the other side.

1:19:57Pat McAfee:We assume they're going to be quiet. We have no idea how the Carolina Panthers still have money to spend after what they did yesterday. Surprising big winners, Carolina Panthers, yesterday. And I guess we should have expected them to kind of go for it, especially with what we learned from David Tepper, ownership when he stopped by the show on Radio Row. It's like he will leave no stone unturned trying to win. And it's like some of the scenes we've seen in the past that have painted him in a light of, like, is that what an NFL owner is supposed to act like? He goes, can I get my side? Can I say my side?

1:20:27Pat McAfee:These guys were disrespecting my family. He got a hurt player on the field. He gave an entire thing. It's like, okay, not that bad. He's gone hands-off because he trusts Dan Morgan, I believe, and Canales. And I believe there's another person down there. Schrags, who's the other guy down there in Carolina that did a bunch of work for them yesterday?

1:20:41Darius Butler:Brent Tillis is his name. He was the cap guru in Kansas City. They brought him over to Carolina two years ago, and he interviewed for the GM job. Dan Morgan got the job, but they still brought him in another role, an advisory role, and Brent Tillis is like a wizard with the numbers. So they got the Chiefs' top cap guy, and they brought him to Carolina, and the last two off seasons have crushed it.

1:21:00Pat McAfee:Yeah, and I think they were able to spend a shit ton of money and make some plays that nobody expected them to. Devin Lloyd, obviously, and Jalen Phillips going to the Carolina Panthers. They got Bryce Young on the offensive side, and they sold that stadium out for a playoff game. It feels like they're back to life. That's good news for Ball as a whole. The Philadelphia Eagles sitting there with$13 million. Their cabinets got kind of raided.

1:21:20Travis Kelce:Yeah.

1:21:22Pat McAfee:People just kind of going after it. And then there was a little bit of rumbling about maybe a trade along the D-line. But anything is possible, I guess, at this moment, especially for anybody that doesn't have a lot of cash. And restructuring of contracts. We're in that season here as well as teams are going to have to get under the number. San Francisco 49ers with$20 million, they're still making plays. What a signing yesterday, Mike Evans. I mean, that was a magical moment here. We go over to Schrag's over in the free agency fun friend zone over there, and he goes, Mike Evans is moving soon.

1:21:51Pat McAfee:He's not going back to the Bucs. And then, bang, Shefty tweet, he's going to the San Francisco 49ers. What a gigantic move yesterday by the Niners, D-Bud. I don't think we've talked about that nearly enough. Mike Evans no longer a Buc headline. Mike Evans now a part of the 49ers offense. Crazy to think about the opportunities and expectations.

1:22:11Travis Kelce:Yeah, when we were talking about it, We said if you're going to leave a place that you've been so long and you have someone's history, you're probably going to go somewhere that's established that should be a contender. And you obviously look at the teams. You look at the quarterbacks. So you have Brock Purdy. You got a great play caller and head coach with Kyle Shanahan. This is a team that can get there, that can get over the hump. And we talked about with Devontae Adams, the difference he made with the Rams and Matt Stafford. I don't know how many one-yard touchdowns he had last year. But once you get into that low red area, with this guy, it's a mismatch.

1:22:39Travis Kelce:It's a slant fade. You can almost know the route. But as a corner, as a DB, it's tough for you to get in between the quarterback and this receiver right here, 13. He's been doing this for a long, long time. A Hall of Famer when it's all done. This is a great move by the San Francisco 49ers.

1:22:52Pat McAfee:Yeah, we talked about – we gave a comparison of Devontae Adams, I believe is what Dano brought up whenever you talk about Mike Evans for that San Francisco 49ers offense. Gronkowski was another one. Whenever you're down in the red zone, you just kind of flank him out one-on-one. What are you going to do? With K, he has the best get-off. So he's got a two-way go on somebody. So Matthew Stafford knows he's going out there. So it's almost a guaranteed touchdown. Gronkowski was unblockable. If he thought he could shake you, he'd go outside. If he wanted to just box you up, he'd do that. And Tom Brady would hit him.

1:23:19Pat McAfee:What has happened now is Brock Purdy gets his own version of that, right? Yeah. Is kind of what everybody's thinking with Mike Evans. Because he's unguardable if he goes in or out. And if it's out on an island, I mean, it feels like that's a touchdown. Tay had 10 touchdowns last year inside five-yard line, which obviously led the NFL. Might be the history, the best in the history. It's like if that's all he does for the Niners, That would be a massive, massive signing for their team to go on a run, let alone all the other shit of him taking the top off so George and everybody can kind of eat up underneath, let alone Christian McCaffrey.

1:23:52Pat McAfee:You have to have a box. It's like Shanahan has to be dreaming that Mike Evans is a 49er. And I don't know, did any of us expect him to leave? I did not expect him to leave the box. I thought this was a Larry Fitzgerald situation.

1:24:03Travis Kelce:Yeah, exactly. I think the assumption was just him and Godwin and Baker were going to ride it out until the end, especially when Cade Otten, who was their free agent tight end, ended up going back. It was like, okay, they're getting the band back together. That's going to happen. But even with Mike Evans in San Francisco, we talked about earlier how big Pittman is losing him just in the wide receiver room. Mike Evans getting in there and helping out Ricky Pearsall. Ricky Pearsall really hasn't had a veteran presence in the wide receiver room. So even the knowledge he'll be able to pass on to help those other guys out.

1:24:31Travis Kelce:Not to mention they only really have two wide receivers out there because Kittle and Juszczyk are on the field so much with McCaffrey too. The 49ers might be all the way back, but I did see a lot of people making a lot of jokes about the substation of Mike Evans' hamstring.

1:24:44Pat McAfee:I did. I saw a lot of that. The internet is going to let their jokes fly. That's what they're going to do, but ladies and gentlemen... Oh! Sheffy tweet day two of free agency frenzy. Zane Gonzalez. One year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Mike McCartney said, Adam, fucking run it. Zane Gonzalez going to Miami. Gumpy's in the back. Grinning like the butcher's dog. D-butt, this is something you said. Has to get done for the Dolphins.

1:25:18Travis Kelce:Yeah, Zane was on the top of my big board. This is the guy who is here. Fixes his hair like. Yes. Okay, okay, yeah. That's the guy. Attention to detail. They got rid of him yesterday.

1:25:29Peter Schrager:Riley Patterson's also gone, I guess. He was 27 to 29 last year. So, yeah, this is good.

1:25:34Pat McAfee:Yeah, and I think it was like 10 to 10 plus 50 or something like that. Yeah, I didn't want to bring him. I trust Sully. What is Sully doing, man?

1:25:40Travis Kelce:I trust Sully and Lin-Ben.

1:25:42Pat McAfee:Hey, I'll tell you what. Sully and who? Lin-Ben. Lin-Ben, minority owner of the Miami Dolphins, bought a 1 % stake of the Miami Dolphins at$175 million.

1:25:52Travis Kelce:His fingerprints are all over.

1:25:54Pat McAfee:Lin-Ben bought into F1 as well down there in Miami, and all the other things that he bought into made us realize maybe Steven Ross doesn't care about the Dolphins. Yeah. Maybe all the other things are doing really well, and if Lynn Bin's buying in at 1%, for$175 million, for a team that hasn't won a Super Bowl since when, Gumpy? 1970 what?

1:26:14Peter Schrager:Two.

1:26:14Pat McAfee:Perfect season. Three. That was the year of the Super Bowl?

1:26:18Travis Kelce:No, 73. We won back to back. 72-73.

1:26:21Pat McAfee:Oh, perfect season. Then you guys had a blemish, but you still won a Super Bowl. So since 1973? Yep.

1:26:30Pat McAfee:I love the Dolphins, man. When's the last time a playoff game was won?

1:26:33Peter Schrager:25 years ago.

1:26:35Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, giving us more details, maybe on this deal. I don't know how they got to this. Zane, known to be a tough negotiator. Mike McCartney, forget about it. He'll throw the pen down in the middle of all negotiations. You want to dot I's cross T's, he said, I don't have a pen. How are we dotting anything? That's what Mike McCartney does. So the fact they're able to get a deal done is magical. Let's go over to Adam Schefter. What's cooking, Adam? What is happening in this free agency frenzy?

1:26:59Adam Schefter:Well, you know, you were talking about the Niners, and I think that there was a feeling in Tampa, all along with all the young wide receivers that he was going to leave. And I think the 49ers set their sights on him, and they were haggling over the contract. You put up the money, three-year deal worth up to$60.4 million. That was really for cap purposes. It's more like a one-year deal that includes$16.4 million of guaranteed money. $16.4. So even though the numbers are advertised bigger, come in bigger, it's really a smaller deal for Mike Evans who felt like it was ready, It was time to move on, try something new, operate in a new offense.

1:27:36Adam Schefter:We've seen the kind of success that it could have for other receivers later in their career, and I think he just wanted to try something new. Going to San Francisco with the 49ers substations, that's new, but they believe they'll be able to fit him into the offense. He'll be a major factor. As we continue to await the latest kicking and punting news here in the cool headquarters where the Wi-Fi is working tremendously.

1:27:58Pat McAfee:Okay, good Wi-Fi, maybe it's not as much action. Maybe that's potentially why. It's quieter. It's a bit quieter. You knew that was going to be the case because how crazy yesterday was. And by the way, they kept score. You won yesterday. Yeah. Good boy, Chef D. You are in a rout. Yeah. Yeah, you won. Congratulations. No, big deal. Also, Max Crosby on Friday. But is that a part of this? I don't know. You tell me. You crushed it. We appreciate that. But you knew today was going to be a little quieter, it felt like, as you came in here this morning.

1:28:21Adam Schefter:I would say this. There was so much activity yesterday, and it was not considered a great free agent class. So when you take all the sizzle names out on the first day, and you have to wait for the quarterbacks like Kyler Murray and Geno Smith until later in the week, and we've already seen 10 trades made, how much more can you realistically expect on day two? Like I said, there still are some really good players out there, and we're still waiting for some compelling deals. But to beat yesterday, that was an all-time day one. That was a crazy day one, about as crazy as you could have on the first day of free agency.

1:28:56Adam Schefter:And so it's hard to top that on day two.

1:28:58Pat McAfee:Yeah, we enjoyed the hell out of yesterday, and we'll be excited to see what all comes about today. Go ahead, Tone.

1:29:03Peter Schrager:Yeah, Shetze, you keep bringing up Kyler and Geno. What about Kirk Cousins? What's his current market like? Is that maybe a situation I've heard potentially in Pittsburgh while they're waiting on Aaron? Is Kirk potentially a fallback? What have you heard the latest on Kirk?

1:29:16Adam Schefter:Well, Tone, you know, it's funny. I've brought up Geno and Kyler, and I haven't brought up Kirk Cousins, and I haven't brought up Russell Wilson, and I haven't brought up Joe Flacco. There's a lot of quarterbacks out there, and there are only so many openings out there right now. Now, Kirk Cousins will be released tomorrow by 4 p.m. Eastern at that time. He'll become a free agent. It doesn't sound like he's in any rush to make a decision. We saw last year Philip Rivers come in late in the year. Kirk Cousins can sit back, wait. He's made more money than anybody, and he has not to be in any rush to go take a job.

1:29:48Adam Schefter:I don't think he's rushing out to Pittsburgh. Now, I will say this. If Aaron Rodgers decided all of a sudden not coming back to Pittsburgh, thank you very much, Could I see Kirk Cousins come into play as a potential option for the Steelers? Definitely, at that point in time. Do I think he's rushing into anything right now? It doesn't sound that way, but let's see how it shakes out.

1:30:07Pat McAfee:Okay, so Kirk Cousins. What about Derek Carr? That came and went pretty quickly. Yeah, it did.

1:30:12Adam Schefter:I haven't heard much chatter about that. Again, there would have to be a team that is willing to trade for him, and the Saints have continued to say that nobody's approached them about it.

1:30:20Pat McAfee:Okay, so the Saints will keep us updated on Derek Carr market. Who knows who lands where? because until Kyler's released tomorrow, Geno's released tomorrow, Kirk's released tomorrow, we have no clue who's heading where. Geno back to the Jets would be crazy. That'd be cool. That would be absolutely crazy. Sheffer kind of alluded to that earlier. He's like, maybe the Jets are in the market there. Indianapolis Colts situation would be certainly something as we kind of try to figure out that. Geno or Kyler or Kirk or, hey, Derek. Yeah? Yeah. If we can't get Daniel Jones, yeah, we'll do it again. Give us the Carson Wentz experience if need be, which might be happening for the New York Jets.

1:30:57Pat McAfee:So the quarterback kind of shuffling is fascinating. And I think it has a little bit more of a heightened attention or heightened excitement because we've seen these quarterbacks who have kind of been eh in places go and have massive success at other spots. Maybe they find their actual home where they're supposed to be, the places that they're supposed to go, let's say, eat dinner at and stay at home and train at is all in one place and they find their best versions of themselves. Those are all possible with these guys. And I think that's why it's so exciting. But, man, it'd be great if they did that today.

1:31:26Pat McAfee:I don't like that they're holding on Kyler until tomorrow. What are we supposed to do today? We're supposed to be super excited.

1:31:32Connor McGovern:Speculate. Hard to be. Hard to be. Maybe they'll trade him, though. They won't, but maybe they will.

1:31:35Pat McAfee:Well, Schefter said, that's not going to happen. But you never know. But there is a chance. And they're like, well, why would they be doing Kyler any favors? It's like, what about football? What about us? What about football as a whole?

1:31:46Peter Schrager:With the Jets and Geno, I believe the Jets have three first-round picks next year already. And there's a lot of people saying, like, if they want to get that number one overall, bring Gino in. He just did that for the Raiders.

1:31:55Pat McAfee:Okay, so there's no reason for you to do that. He's a great West Virginia Mountaineer. And a lot of the interceptions that happened against Gino this year were plays of guys' careers. I'm talking from Low League, Pop Warner, high school, college, and NFL. Guys were swooping in like they were Troy Palomalu getting the best picks they've ever had against Gino. He got unlucky this year. Feels like that entire team was maybe asked if he gets the right opportunity again. Maybe here in Indianapolis. Maybe back at the New York Jets. But on that note, three number ones is what they made all the moves for.

1:32:27Pat McAfee:They have a lot of money. Everybody's entrusting that this group at the Jets is going to make the right decisions. I hope they do that because that'd be good for Jets fans. There's a lot of scary decisions that have already been made there, though, that make us wonder if they're going to be good decision makers. Hopefully they'll be able to do that. Let's head back to the free agency friend zone over there with the two fun guys, Dan Orlovsky and Pete Schrager. Orlovsky, what quarterback story is kind of most intriguing to you? Obviously, you told us about Kyler dropping into Kevin O 'Connell's offensive system.

1:32:56Pat McAfee:Kyler more of a freestyle guy. Kevin O 'Connell's system more locked in. Geno Smith heading into Frank Reich's potentially over there in New York for the Jets. Tua at Atlanta with Kevin Stefanski. Malik in Miami, what are your new quarterback situations that are seemingly brewing? What are your thoughts on them? And who's not going to be ass, you think?

1:33:17Dan Orlovsky:I'll start in Atlanta with Tua. I really believe that this was the right choice for both parties. The place in Tua, for Tua's perspective, the place in Atlanta. Best offensive line Tua has ever played with. Not even close. And then they are loaded with talent. Obviously, Bijan, Drake London. They signed, who's the receiver from the Philadelphia Eagles? Jahan. Jahan Dotson. Correct. Thank you for that tone. So, like, there's plenty of talent, and they've tagged Cal Pitts. So I'm not telling everybody that this is going to be Sam Darnold in Seattle last year, but I do think that the conversation over the last 24 hours has been a little bit not real when it comes to Tua.

1:33:59Dan Orlovsky:Two years ago, he was in the MVP conversation, led the NFL in passing. Definitely a decline, no doubt, but if they can find ways to kind of mesh the systems together, I also think it makes sense for Atlanta. We have no idea what Michael Penix is going to be when he comes back, if he comes back, how it's going to operate, all that, okay? I think it's the let's figure out what we have at the quarterback spot this year, and if either of these guys blows our mind for Ken Stefanski and Matt Ryan, great, if not 2027. I think my attention right now is focused on probably some other places. Number one, Arizona.

1:34:36Dan Orlovsky:Arizona signed Gardner Menchu, no question that that's like a good backup role. but is Michael Fleur going to go into the first season with as a head coach with just him are they a team that you pay attention to in the draft maybe are they going to try to move down in the draft and maybe be a guy for a play for a guy in the draft a Ty Simpson a Drew Aller a Garrett Nussmeyer something like that I'll bring this up to you honest if you're the Indianapolis Colts If you're the Indianapolis Colts, what would you rather do? Chase after Kyler Murray for a million, a million and a half, or be strangleholded by Daniel Jones and his group for 50-plus million?

1:35:18Pat McAfee:What was this guy? Who said 50 million? That's a good question. Stranglehold? I don't need you rear naked choking my opinions and thoughts right now in this free agency frenzy. What would you rather do? So... Put him in a tough spot. Dan, is that real? Who are you reading? Is this somebody, is this, I got fake news garage at, fake news garage, some troll making this up that they wanted 50 million? Or did they tell you exactly that Daniel Jones is looking for 50 million plus a year because of what happened, coming fresh off a broken leg on one side and a torn Achilles on the other side, and we don't know when he's going to be healthy.

1:35:54Dan Orlovsky:I'm just saying it's an interesting situation. I don't know, I know I've not heard 50 million or whatnot, but I do think there are reports that they offered him something similar to a Sam Darnold deal.

1:36:03Pat McAfee:Which is three for 100, I do believe, if you go back and do the math. The transition tag here that he's on is like 36.8, so it's actually a little bit more maybe if they did offer them a Sam Darnold deal. But once again, we don't know what's real and what isn't real. Both teams and agents are trying to get numbers out there, you know. Oh, yeah. To try in between our rooms. You know what I mean? He can't hear us, right? They're trying to say. No, he can't hear us. Shefter's in his. Yeah, he can't hear shit right there. He can't hear anything. Shefter can't hear anything. They don't tell me anything.

1:36:32Pat McAfee:They don't tell me anything. But there's always news getting sent out for different reasons. If Daniel Jones is able to get like a three-year,$150 million deal to play quarterback, I will be so happy for him. I'll be so happy for him. Now, I don't think that's feasible for the Colts to do, especially after what we just did for Alec Pierce and what we're going to have to do for Jonathan Taylor and all these things. And was Daniel Jones the only one that really brought us happiness and excitement? Yes. So is that the right decision? I don't know. But to your point, if we can get Kyler in that Shane Stock in offense.

1:36:59Travis Kelce:Oh, man.

1:37:01Pat McAfee:Him and JT in the same backfield? and it's a million dollars? I want Daniel Jones. Please. Sure. Final answer. Broken leg, torn Achilles and all. He was playing with broken legs. Still burning it. And they said, why did he tear his Achilles? Why did he tear the Achilles?

1:37:16Dan Orlovsky:What's the point of November?

1:37:17Darius Butler:They were 8-2 at the time.

1:37:19Dan Orlovsky:So let's call it Thanksgiving World. I mean, we saw that Kirk Cousins, now I think Daniel's probably six years younger than when Kirk did it, but you're still dealing with the reality of Daniel Jones. I would agree. Three or 150. I'd be ecstatic for him. He has the ACL for his time in New York, right? Didn't he do his ACL in New York? And there's an Achilles tear. I think there's things that the Colts who feel like, okay, some good things are happening. I just think it's an interesting situation to just pay attention to. What do you want, Patsy?

1:37:51Travis Kelce:Put me in a stranglehold.

1:37:52Pat McAfee:Yeah, because we're living in good times right now. Look at this. This was a good time to be a Colts fan. Pierce, he's back. He's back. We gave him to him. We gave it. We gave it. We paid. Payton. We were appreciative of that. He's back. We were winning everything.

1:38:06Darius Butler:All these cashes.

1:38:07Pat McAfee:We're 8-2, Dano. Number one team in the league. You guys weren't talking about it on Get Up and First Acre NFL Live, which we felt the disrespect for. But on our show, number one headline coming out of NFL was that the coach is going to win the Super Bowl. That's what it was. And then there was people in New York that were obviously like, Daniel Jones is going to Daniel Jones. And then he just kept getting better and better and better. And then we came back from a bye week and a guy can't move.

1:38:28Travis Kelce:Yeah.

1:38:29Pat McAfee:Then he got a broken leg. What were the numbers?

1:38:30Travis Kelce:93 %? 97 %? 93 % pessimism. I was certainly in that group. Yes, you were. I never thought I'd be here today, but it's Daniel Jones no matter what.

1:38:40Pat McAfee:Okay, so$50 million a year, Daniel Jones? Yes. Me too. Back to you, Dan. That's our final answer. Boom. We want Dan Jones at$50 million a year. Fuck it. $65 million a year. Let's not forget that

1:38:52Peter Schrager:Riley torched the Texans' defense late in the year. Can I stand up for the... Riley Leonard on an up and up.

1:38:59Darius Butler:Can I stand up for the editorial choices of the other programming on this fine network? The Dallas Cowboys do move the needle, and we're very relevant when we were talking about the Micah Parsons trade. We only report the news, and we have to respond to what's in the headlines, Pat.

1:39:14Pat McAfee:Peter Schrager. Okay, I understand. I understand. You're talking about why you guys didn't talk about the Colts being great. Got it. I appreciate you clarifying that entire thing, and I understand you have to get that convo off. I get it, honestly. And listen, if you guys can book Jerry on there a little bit more, We'd all be appreciative. He's working. Landman, stupendous. I mean, absolutely. Great. Stupendous. Stupendous. He was great, Dan. He literally was. I don't watch TV. Kyler in Indianapolis would be crazy, but it seems like all the time. I don't watch TV. This guy. You don't watch college football either.

1:39:44Pat McAfee:You make it apparent. Oh! Whenever you talk. Oh! Okay, you do that. But Kyler to the Vikings, seemingly just already done. Yeah. Sure. Sounds like it. Lock that in. But weren't they interested in Daniel Jones too last year? Correct. They might still be. Shrags, go on.

1:39:58Darius Butler:Well, I think the assumption is that, you know, we talked about parental leave and we talked about Sam Darnold, but there really was a piece of this where it was Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold leaving Minnesota, which was part of the decision to let Kwesi Adolfo Mensah go as the general manager. that the thought that we could have both of those players in our room and both of those guys, Darnold and Jones, have these successful seasons elsewhere was almost the cardinal sin of what this last organization was with the Minnesota Vikings. They love Daniel Jones there. I don't think that is the next landing spot for Daniel Jones.

1:40:35Darius Butler:I think Indianapolis makes a ton of sense, and it seems like they like him. The question is, what are the numbers going to be? And gosh, I mean, Kyler for a million three or Daniel Jones for even 30-something, and then you throw in the J.J. McCarthy of it all, it is a conversation worth having. And it's a Daniel Jones that there's a question mark of health.

1:40:54Dan Orlovsky:It's not Daniel Jones that was playing top five, top seven football last year. It's Daniel Jones who does have a little bit of a health question.

1:41:03Darius Butler:I do think this is it, and I would bring it back to you guys at the toxic table. There is an off-the-field element where it felt like Daniel Jones meshed with that organization, meshed with that coaching staff, And the city seemed like they were loving the whole Daniel Jones story. That doesn't go into the film work and the stat sheets and the numbers like we have over here.

1:41:21Pat McAfee:Guys having beer is a tin whistle. Exactly. After Indianapolis Motor Speedway is Indy 500. So, I mean, the guy took to the city like a fish to water, and he won immediately into what D-Butt said. I don't know if you guys even saw this. There was an optimism poll done by the New York Times, right? I believe it was the New York Times, Athletic or whatever, for every fan. Now, who takes these polls? Obviously, nobody I know or nobody likes me from my understanding of how these polls go. I've never understood it. But there was a 96 % or 97 % pessimism rate for Colts fans that took that poll for going into the season with Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson being the quarterback.

1:42:01Pat McAfee:I mean, it was just like the Colts are ass. Their fans even think they're ass. Nobody's happy. Now, I tried my absolute best to remain optimistic because we only got 17 games a year promised to us. So if you go into a season just thinking you're asked, that's a bad way to view the NFL. That's a bad way to view a football season. Football season is a masterpiece of my life. I would like to have a little bit of something to wake up to. So whenever Daniel Jones comes in, I start watching the highlights of Daniel Jones. I go and meet Daniel Jones. I go, holy shit, this is a big guy. This is a big guy.

1:42:32Pat McAfee:And I start remembering the glory days and betting on Daniel Jones is over for rushing, which you're not going to be able to do in Massachusetts, seems like, for a while. Over on rushing for Daniel Jones, and it always hitting. It's like, wait a minute, this guy is athletic. Wait a minute, this guy has played some good football. And wait a minute, do we have any other option? Not really. From everything that we had heard inside the building, it was not a very good culture. So having somebody from the outside come in, turn our team into what he did, and play the ball that we saw, I think that's why you're getting us saying, give him$100 million a year if that's what he needs.

1:43:01Pat McAfee:Those were magical times, and we felt alive. And we felt like we had a chance. And that's why I think these types of free agency frenzy days are so important because the teams that are absolute shite we're talking about, Tennessee Titans, the Raiders, I mean, the commanders were in the game. They didn't make it into the playoffs. It's like these days when these things happen, you have hope. You have optimism. You think that maybe whenever we're eight to ten weeks into the season, we're still going to be able to talk shit that our team has a chance to win to Lombardi. We had all those things with Daniel Jones.

1:43:28Pat McAfee:And we've had 100 other quarterbacks where we were nowhere near having that. So, Dan Orlovsky, I think you're going to hear us say, give us Daniel Jones or give us nothing.

1:43:40Dan Orlovsky:Even if he can't run for three months. I love that. I love that. Again, I don't disagree with you a ton. I do think it's a really good football team that's going to need good quarterback play, and hopefully that's going to be Daniel. But I do think it's interesting. I'll throw another two out at you, okay? Wait, before you do that, I got one, guys.

1:43:57Darius Butler:I don't have the Schefter tweet thing. This is not as big a news as some of the other ones, but it's a player that mattered for the Giants last year. Adam, if you're listening, Micah McFadden, Giants linebacker, returning to the New York Giants. I'm getting the text right now. They've agreed to terms on a one-year deal. Continue. I love that. Micah McFadden. Micah McFadden. And that's Terrell Edmonds. They signed him.

1:44:17Dan Orlovsky:Wow, he stays with the Giants. Good for him. Jermaine Edmonds. That's McFadden football, though. That's right. Yeah, we like that. I'll throw in this one you probably have a little bit of information on. Just if you're a Browns fan or a Jets fan. McFadden. McFadden. with the Browns, does the fan base want to go ahead and say, Todd Monken, play Shadur Sanders, and he's our starting quarterback, or Deshaun Watson or Dylan Gabriel, but it feels like Shadur. And if it's great, it's great. If not, we're going to 2027. Is that a thought process? And the same with the New York Jets. Like, are the Jets, if you're a Jets fan, would you prefer to sign Geno Smith or Kirk Cousins and try to be competitive in some games this year because they've made some good additions?

1:45:01Dan Orlovsky:Or are you like, no, win as little games as possible?

1:45:05Pat McAfee:Oh, we're not doing the NBA over here. No, I'm telling you, as a fan base.

1:45:08Dan Orlovsky:Okay, we're not doing that. As a fan base, yes. I'm talking as a fan base. Let's be literal here. Let's be real, not fantasy. Three first-round picks next year? Yeah.

1:45:17Darius Butler:They got five picks in the top, I think, 44 this year. He can win some games. Arch move.

1:45:22Dan Orlovsky:He can win some games still. I know, but that's my thing. Do you want to sign one of those quarterbacks to win some games? If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you do. If you're Aaron Glenn, I'm sure you want to be as competitive as possible, winning many games as possible.

1:45:32Pat McAfee:What about Fireman Ed going out there?

1:45:34Dan Orlovsky:I just think it's interesting to have the conversation of, like, what's the actual quarterback move then?

1:45:39Travis Kelce:I think there are just fans that are warming up to Ty Simpson getting picked with their second first-round pick this year. That's 16? Yeah, and then if it goes well, it goes well. And if it doesn't, then just doing the same thing next year, punting on him, and then drafting a different quarterback.

1:45:53Pat McAfee:We would like to go on the record that although we have attacked Dan Orlovsky for what he has said about Fernando Mendoza. We are Ty Simpson fans as well. We think Ty Simpson, also very athletic, great leader. Great leader, which I think is a big deal. I think he is a beers with the boys guy. So we obviously love that. Moxie. And he can spin it. Now, he did get banged up pretty good.

1:46:13Peter Schrager:He was in a bad spot.

1:46:14Pat McAfee:He got banged up pretty, pretty good. And that Rose Bowl game, too, when Pons hit him in his spine and that ball got ejected, I mean, he was taking some monster shots, which that Indiana team was doing to everybody and it wasn't really being talked about. So Ty Simpson as your quarterback, If you think he can be your NFL quarterback, everybody's talking about can't go top five, can't go top ten. He'd see him as two. It's like Penix wasn't supposed to go in Penix. If one of these teams thinks he can be their quarterback, they will pull the trigger. The quarterback position matters more than anything else, especially with what we're seeing with the quarterback market right now.

1:46:41Peter Schrager:Yeah, if the Jets think Ty Simms is their guy, they'll take Ty. But to Dan's point, there's a lot of speculation that, yes, with those three first-round picks next year, you can go get whatever quarterback you want. what is, if you look at it right now, supposed to be a loaded quarterback draft. Now, this one was supposed to be, too. Yes, it was. Nussmeyer and Aller and Clemson. Thank you. Clubnick. Cade Clubnick. These guys were all projected to be really good. Mark Gronowski, obviously. Dante Moore, Sellers.

1:47:11Pat McAfee:Arch, right? Wasn't Arch?

1:47:13Peter Schrager:So, yes, this one was supposed to be that. Next year is obviously supposed to be that as well. So, I mean, there's talk. I mean, that's a front office decision that Jets are going to have to make.

1:47:21Pat McAfee:Hey, Shregs, where's that draft at?

1:47:24Peter Schrager:Next year?

1:47:25Pat McAfee:Yeah.

1:47:25Dan Orlovsky:Washington, D.C.

1:47:26Pat McAfee:No, no, this year. This year, sorry. This year it's in Pittsburgh. You're damn right it is. Did you see Pittsburgh Steelers signed Rico Dowdell? Oh, I did see that. Rico Dowdell signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, Pittsburgh Steelers fans are used to ground and pound football. They're used to good defense. They're not scared to go ahead and pound another team right in the face. Rico runs hard. Rico is great. And Rico was on a good football team last year. And they were a good football team last year, a lot because of Rico Dowd. A lot of these highlights are going to be against a few different teams where he dominated.

1:48:01Pat McAfee:But one of them was certainly the Packers, Ty. This guy's a player. He's a playmaker. Down the stretch, he didn't do as much. I don't know if he wasn't getting the ball or what the case was. But the Steelers pick up a good one here.

1:48:10Connor McGovern:Yeah, I think it was Chuba Hubbard got hurt early, and he kind of got all the carries. and then all of a sudden he ripped so many 200-yard games off in a row. I mean, that's what I remember a big part of that for people who maybe didn't know him in fantasy. They're like, who is this guy for the Panthers who's coming out of nowhere? But last year or two years ago with the Cowboys, he also was a 1 ,000-yard rusher, and he was splitting carries. So we'll see. I mean, obviously they still have Jalen Warren, but when I saw this last night that the Steelers got Dowdell, I was just thinking like, well, okay, they won free agency.

1:48:43Connor McGovern:I wanted Dowdell.

1:48:44Pat McAfee:They don't have a quarterback. Who's handing them the ball? Maybe. That's the question, I guess.

1:48:48Travis Kelce:What Dan said is guaranteed who their quarterback is going to be.

1:48:51Pat McAfee:Who's that? He said that this morning. Yeah.

1:48:53Peter Schrager:He said put it in pen, right? Yeah.

1:48:55Pat McAfee:Not pencil. He said Aaron Rodgers is going to be the quarterback. Dano, any reason for you to just make guaranteed statements like that on television? Do you just feel that way or do you actually know this?

1:49:05Dan Orlovsky:No, I know absolutely nothing. It's just how I feel. Okay.

1:49:09Peter Schrager:You say everything with such conviction.

1:49:11Dan Orlovsky:Pay attention to the offseason, though. This is an organization that has improved their football team. Aaron played good football last year. They hired the head coach that for the majority of Aaron's career, that was his head coach. And they trade for a big-bodied possession receiver to win one-on-ones and have a massive catch radius. They did nothing to be attached to any other free agent quarterback, specifically Malik Willis. They've done nothing to potentially move up in the draft. I don't necessarily sit here and believe Ty Simpson's an ideal landing spot or Pittsburgh's an ideal landing spot for a player like Ty Simpson.

1:49:52Dan Orlovsky:He's not the big quintessential 6 '4", 230-pound guy that's probably needed in the Pittsburgh area when it comes to their weather and having to play quarterback. And so I just sit there and I go, I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are probably too well run to just go blindfolded. blindfolded and I'm not saying anything negative about Will Howard but I think that would be a pretty significant roll of the dice to go just ahead with Will Howard so I just believe Aaron's already kind of hinted to them like hey if I feel like it's trending in the right direction you

1:50:24Darius Butler:agree Shrags I thought his interview with you guys was the most revealing thing we've had when he went through one to 70 on the roster and praised every player and talked about Ben Skaralnik's headphones for over 30 minutes. I look at that stuff and I'm like, there's a lot of fondness there and there's a lot of love and it didn't seem like it was goodbye. Thank you, Pittsburgh, for the memories. It was, let's talk about the Dairy Queen competitor and how great the ice cream was this last summer and let's keep it rolling. That's just my assumption. I think the most revelatory stuff we got was on this very show and that interview that you had with him where it didn't feel like goodbye, but I understand if a Steelers fan is saying, well, then rip the bandaid off.

1:51:02Darius Butler:Just tell us you're coming back. I get that also.

1:51:04Pat McAfee:Yeah, and I think he was mentioning, too, that the Steelers didn't really tell him anything either. So they got to figure that whole thing out. I wonder what that contract would look like at this stage. He was playing for, what,$10 million a year? Yeah, it took a discount. Yeah, I think there was other teams that potentially did have a little bit more on the plate for him whenever he was there. Because although some media, not all, okay, we don't want to paint everybody in the same light. We do a lot of broad brush paint.

1:51:27Connor McGovern:Sure.

1:51:27Pat McAfee:People are saying nice stuff.

1:51:29Connor McGovern:Yeah, for now. True. True, but still. Always nice to have someone say something nice about you. Yeah.

1:51:36Pat McAfee:You're like, that's very kind of you to do that. But nonetheless, some sports media folks do not like Aaron Rodgers, obviously. So they would like to watch him disappear and not have to talk about him ever again. So whenever he comes out and defends himself for anything, and Aaron goes like, I don't like talking. And everybody goes, well, you're talking right now. So there's always going to be stuff that's held against him. but honestly him taking a 10 million dollar deal last year was better than what some of the other places i think he was going to be able to get paid or what he could have commanded from the pittsburgh steelers he likes that fact that they had a team that could have won on a run wants to win that's just all from stuff that he has said publicly and to us so i think it would be a good deal for the steelers he knows mike mccarthy's system obviously inside and out it's literally his system you get the boys back out there who knows what they're going to do about

1:52:22Peter Schrager:the field on accresure which they're replacing it yeah is that real yes they are replacing it with the same grass that the Eagles use at their stadium. That came out right after the court guards.

1:52:32Dan Orlovsky:Okay, so it comes. Morgan Wallen concert there this summer.

1:52:34Pat McAfee:You're going down there?

1:52:35Dan Orlovsky:June 5th, Morgan Wallen.

1:52:37Pat McAfee:Last night, Dan let the liquor talk.

1:52:40Dan Orlovsky:I can't remember everything I think.

1:52:44Connor McGovern:Oh, wow, you don't know the words, huh? It's embarrassing.

1:52:47Pat McAfee:You can't remember.

1:52:48Connor McGovern:The ball might come through every tape.

1:52:51Pat McAfee:You're right. D-Bone, obviously, he might be going to the same concert, but they're fixing up the stadium. right now. Mike McCartney. What's that, Dan? Look at me and Shrey just sitting cross-legged

1:53:00Dan Orlovsky:like a bunch of dorks. Singing Morgan.

1:53:02Pat McAfee:This is great.

1:53:02Dan Orlovsky:You guys look like brothers. Yeah, you do.

1:53:04Pat McAfee:You look like... We should spell it. Free, F-R-E-E agency, A-G-E-N-C-Y. And then that right there for Frenzy should have been F-R-I-E-N-D. Oh, Frenzy. I love that. That's YouTube right there. That is good.

1:53:18Darius Butler:There's always next year.

1:53:20Pat McAfee:Or maybe tomorrow. Maybe Ben from Mystic could whip that. You guys are pretty talented. You know, this came together in like three days. Is it Connecticut? Yeah, it's up there in Massachusetts, I do believe. Hell yeah. It's a new England company. Ben's a talent. You guys have been phenomenal. Will you stick around for another hour? Absolutely. Do you guys have to snooze?

1:53:35Dan Orlovsky:I'm here, brother. We're here. Love it. Having the best time, dude.

1:53:38Pat McAfee:Dan, how do you feel like your little sports performance went earlier at the Thunderdome?

1:53:42Dan Orlovsky:I was pretty bummed that I didn't knock down the jumper sooner. Also, every jumper that I did a little bit in my runaround was short. So to do too long, bummed about it. Love the pitch. I told you guys it was going to be a knee-high fastball. Shout out to Gumpy for catching it. The punch, I'm okay with it. The putt was amazing. And the putt, I haven't made a putt like that in 15 years, so I was happy it went down. Good boy.

1:54:06Pat McAfee:Proud of you, Daniel. Good to step up. Good baby, Daniel. You've done great work.

1:54:09Dan Orlovsky:I'm going to go play right now on commercial break, actually.

1:54:11Pat McAfee:Yeah, of course. It's impossible to get anything done or to think because Daniel's out here as a 12-year-old playing with all the games, and that's a good thing because that's what sports are supposed to be about. Exciting. Magical times happening. Free Agency Frenzy continues. Connor McGovern will join us next hour. He's just signed a...

1:54:27Travis Kelce:Throw another alley to...

1:54:29Pat McAfee:Shoot it. We got 10, 9, 8, 7. Bang. Oh, shit. This guy sucks at fastball. Out of three is on the other side. Yeah, I got... Oh, my. See you then.

1:55:49Pat McAfee:Oh yeah! Welcome back to the Thunderdome, the home of the NFL's free agency frenzy. It's chaotic, it's magic, it's ball to a tee, it's dreams coming true, it's teams trying to win a Lombardi and it's players who have worked their entire lives for a moment to change the trajectory of their family tree and for generations to come they earn these bags. over the next couple days for playing a sport that they've loved since they were very young. We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it and celebrate these guys and everything that they've accomplished in their lives. The Talks of Tip was here at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt.

1:56:29Pat McAfee:One half of the hammer. Die! Cowboys AP Tone is here. How do you feel about where the Steelers sit right now? I feel really, really good. Got no quarterback.

1:56:36Peter Schrager:That's a good point. Everyone does say that, and that is correct. But with the moves yesterday, Jamel Dean, great cornerback. Michael Pittman, solid wide receiver, needed that. and then Rico Dowdell in the backfield with Jalen Warren. I feel really good about it.

1:56:49Pat McAfee:Yinzer's trying to say that dude's name is going to be fantastic forever. Not your NFL vet, Darius J. Butler is here. P. Butch, it's been a quiet day two of this free agency frenzy. Do you think people are potentially utilizing the one-hour conversation that has been added into the repertoire for teams before they sign a free agent? Is that for day two signings? Day one, hard to schedule an hour convo because somebody else might make a better offer and not have it. Day two, maybe they're talking to these guys. They get five conversations with free agents, one hour at max. This has never happened before.

1:57:20Pat McAfee:This is the first year. Is that when this is happening, I wonder?

1:57:22Travis Kelce:I don't know. I don't think so. You think they don't want to waste time? Based on the people we've talked to, and as a player, I know when you go past that first day, it sucks. It gets real tense, just like when you're sitting there on your draft night and you're expecting to go in a few different slots. So I'm supposed to go between 15 and 25, and then you get kind of the 23. You're not getting those calls that you wanted. It's kind of like that for the free agents that are still out there, but hopefully we get some news pretty soon here with some big names.

1:57:49Pat McAfee:Yeah, we do. We do got some big names. Oh! Big guys, at least. Maybe not big names. Offensive lineman Braden Smith has reached an agreement with the Houston Texans on a two-year,$25 million deal, including$13.5 million, fully guaranteed per his agent, Michael Parrott. He's not a Parrott. He comes up with the thoughts. He doesn't echo them. He's from Priority Sports. Okay, so Braden Smith is heading to Houston. Let's head to the man that broke the news. Let's go to the senior NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter. What are the Colts doing?

1:58:23Adam Schefter:We're letting this guy go to Houston? Well, they had let him go to Houston. The Houston Texans fortifying their offensive line. They've been in the market to do that. That's been a focus for them throughout the offseason. Now they get a deal done taking a player from their division rival, Braden Smith. The Texans have been busy today. A short time ago, they also extend their kicker, Kaemi Fairburn, making him the highest paid kicker in the league. So Fairburn gets a new deal. Braden Smith gets a new deal. The Houston Texans keeping busy today. And they still have a Will Anderson extension on deck at some point here in the coming weeks.

1:58:56Adam Schefter:That deal I'm sure will get done. He's too good a player, too important to the franchise. We expect a Will Anderson extension in the weeks to come that make him one of the highest paid players in the NFL.

1:59:07Pat McAfee:Did I read that the Daniil Hunter didn't go through? Why? Is it too much money? Too guaranteed?

1:59:12Adam Schefter:No, it's just void. They're reworked. It's not an issue. It's going to get done.

1:59:15Pat McAfee:What is it, though? What's that mean? I've never seen that before. This is like whenever old buddy Chris Paul was about to get traded from New Orleans to L.A. and Stern, I believe, stopped in and said, nah, because they were running one of the teams at the time. They stopped the trade. Now, everybody's obviously got upset about that. I don't think I've heard of a contract, especially of this magnitude,$40 million plus to this good of a player, part of the Houston SAC station down there, all of a sudden get announced. It happens. and then before the league year even starts, they're like, we don't know if that deal is allowed.

1:59:43Pat McAfee:Was there, like, stuff in there that's not allowed?

1:59:45Adam Schefter:The league sends it back. It was him and it was Dalton Schultz, and they just reworked the language on it, and it gets done. It's not going to be an issue.

1:59:51Pat McAfee:What's the language like? I get a plane? I get a – honestly, like, what could that –

1:59:56Adam Schefter:I really don't know exactly how it works that way to avoid it because you don't see it very often, okay? But they voided it, sent it back to a review to rewrite, and now it'll be sent in. It'll be the same terms, and it'll get done, Pat.

2:00:09Pat McAfee:So an NFL lawyer looked at that. He's not allowed to get a Bass Pro Fishing. I mean, what is this guy like you? He wants a Ford F5. I don't even know if they make a F5. Ram truck this guy. What are we doing here? This is not a lot. What would it be? Genuinely, I don't know. Somebody would have to be trying to sneak something, especially because this is a collectively bargained contract that is basically bare bones. This is what a contract is. You put the number. Then you put how long it's going to be. Then sorting out when the money's coming is a big part of the negotiation. Everything else is kind of standard operating procedure, I do believe, for the contracts.

2:00:42Pat McAfee:So somebody had to try to sneak something in there, which I, that's why we found out about the clause in Kyler Murray's. Because that was like snuck in there. That's not normal because these contracts are kind of just pretty set up at this point with all the different union negotiations that have taken place. That's funny, though. I would like to know what that was. Was it Casario trying to get one?

2:01:02Travis Kelce:Yeah, maybe something like, hey, if, you know, the tribal chief becomes the world champion. Which he should. Which he should, then we'll – or sorry, Daniil Hunter, you will have to kind of challenge him for the strap. Actually, Daniil, if our tribal chief does once again become

2:01:19Pat McAfee:undisputed world champion in the WWE universe, Casario knows he might have to go join tribal chief. So Daniil Hunter actually picks up general management in the entire role because Casario has bigger things to climb. Like we need our tribal chief to continue to be champion and not lose that thing ever again and disappear because we know what happens. So that's what Cassario kind of does.

2:01:39Connor McGovern:That would make sense. Yeah, hey, listen, I'm going to be going a lot on the road to WrestleMania.

2:01:42Pat McAfee:Schrags, what could that have been? You're in these weeds a little bit more as we head over to the free agency Friend Z with Schrags and Orlovsky. Schrags, what could that be? Why would a deal get sent back by the league? Somebody's trying to get one over on somebody?

2:01:55Darius Butler:Well, there's a compliance office at the league that checks over all these contracts, and when you get an extension of that size, I'm sure there's some clause or there's something that the league looks over and says, okay, let's do this another run through. But to Adam's point, the player and the team want to be there. The league's not going to hold that up. It's just kind of procedural. And I wish I had a more concrete example. But this is the same stuff that goes through with any company when you go through the lawyers and they get their fee and we go from there.

2:02:19Pat McAfee:Yeah, lawyers are the greatest. I reached out to the league for comment. You did? I will. Okay, please do. I hope we get a statement. And the lawyers, we understand. We appreciate. Okay, we understand. You guys are super geniuses. We acknowledge. Yeah, we acknowledge. We acknowledge. You guys are super geniuses. Thank you so much. We need you. Shout out to Sarah Decker, by the way. Plum High School graduate, 05 class. Badass lawyer. Sarah, we appreciate you a lot. Hell yeah. Formerly Sarah Bronder. Let's stay with Straggs real quick. 49ers are open to trading Hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams.

2:02:50Pat McAfee:What's this mean? That means any team can get a Trent Williams right now? What would that trade look like? And how real is this for the San Francisco 49ers and Trent Williams? That feels like a big deal. If you look at the record the Niners are with him playing and without him playing, boy, that without him playing one, not very happy, not very successful. With him playing a lot of winning, he's a stud, obviously. What went wrong and who can get him?

2:03:14Darius Butler:You could argue he's still the best left tackle in the sport. And on any given day, he's the player that defensive ends fear the most. Like I said with A.J. Brown and like we had with Max Crosby, John Lynch's phone line is open. Do you want the best tackle of his generation? Okay, well, what's it going to cost? Because his number right now and what he's expecting if he gets another contract is going to be exorbitant. So let's explore this. Let's see. But I don't think that's coming out from the 49ers. I think that's obviously a report from us in the media. And let's see if the 49ers do get calls.

2:03:45Darius Butler:This is how this works usually. He could be had if you have a certain number, if you have a certain offer. But make no mistake about it, the 49ers absolutely love Trent Williams. They want to get it done. The numbers, though, just like we have seen with so many star players in the last couple of years, the numbers have to make sense.

2:03:59Pat McAfee:They're not the only one. He's not the only one that's potentially on the trade block. Feels like everybody's potentially on the trade block all the time with the way these GMs talk. Some other big names and notables, though, Tone.

2:04:09Peter Schrager:Yeah, there was a lot last night kind of after. I mean, the dust never really settled last night, but it did a little bit. And Brian Thomas Jr., the wide receiver from the Jacksonville Jaguars, his name was out there a bit. I don't know how credible that is, but it was definitely out there. He was obviously incredible as a rookie and then had a bit of a down year last year, but still really good, especially when Jacoby Myers came over. And then of the Pittsburgh Steelers, linebacker Patrick Queen, I saw that all over my timeline last night, obviously. But his name has also been out there as well.

2:04:39Peter Schrager:Once again, these were out there. They were reported. They weren't reported by Shefty or anybody like that, but it was out there. It's just something that could potentially be out there to watch.

2:04:48Pat McAfee:Let's head into Shefty to hear what his thoughts are on. Is everybody tradable at this time? Because we are Max Crosby. He's traded. He's not tradable. A.J. Brown, he's potentially trading, he's not tradable, but if you make a good enough offer, is everybody kind of available with the way these conversations go?

2:05:03Adam Schefter:Okay, so we got Trent Williams, Patrick Queen, and who's the third guy? And Brian Thomas. Okay, let's address them one by one. Trent Williams, first of all, they have been discussing a new deal. And so on Saturday, when he wants a certain amount of money, the Niners say to him, hey, look, you think you're worth that money, and we can't reach this agreement. If you want to go find that from another team that will then give us back the value of like a first-round draft pick, because you want all this money, then we're willing to listen. But the 49ers aren't shopping him, and he's not expected to be traded.

2:05:33Adam Schefter:Now, could something materialize? Sure, something always could, but I don't think that that's probably a realistic option, and it's more along the lines of them placating him, say, go ahead and see if you can find somebody willing to pay you that and take care of them at the same time. That's a tough doubleheader to satisfy. As for Brian Thomas, I've been told that the Jaguars are not interested in trading him. They've denied it repeatedly. His name continues to come up in social media circles, floated out there. And again, for whatever reason, it doesn't go away. But every indication that I've gotten back is the Jaguars have no interest in moving on from Brian Thomas, despite all the speculation that's out there.

2:06:12Adam Schefter:And the Patrick Queen one is unusual because that also continues to float out there. The Pittsburgh Steelers say they're not interested in moving on from him. And this could be maybe a money issue where he might be looking for more, or maybe they want him to take a pay cut that he's unwilling to take right now. So that one we could pay attention to, but it doesn't sound like it's pressing at this moment.

2:06:33Pat McAfee:Okay, we appreciate you doing the rundown. Let's talk about a man who just got a brand new deal to stay where he was. A guy who signed for$32 million guaranteed and a$52 million total deal on Saturday to remain the center for the Buffalo Bills. Ladies and gentlemen, Penn State lad, Conor McGovern. how are you connor you look strapping young lad don't you geez louise nice fresh you look good

2:06:58Peter Schrager:in a tank fresh shave we're good to go we got a little tan going on so we're all set right now

2:07:02Pat McAfee:congrats on the new deal uh how excited are you for this next generation this next era of buffalo bills football as you head into a new stadium up there connor oh we can't wait i'm i'm gonna say

2:07:13Peter Schrager:i don't think josh want another center in front of him he just want to stare at my ass all the time. He's happy I'm still here, so we're good to go.

2:07:20Pat McAfee:That's a good part of that. I mean, as long as he enjoys what's going on, I feel like that's a pretty crucial relationship. Let's talk about your guys' offensive line. I believe A.Q. Shipley called you guys the number one offensive line in the NFL. You won the Trenchy. I don't know if you know that. Congratulations. You did know that?

2:07:35Peter Schrager:Thank you, thank you. No, we did. We're big fans of A.Q. here.

2:07:40Pat McAfee:Hey, that's huge for A.Q. A.Q. is going to really, I mean, there's a FaceTime coming going, huh? Did you hear him?

2:07:47Peter Schrager:I love my Penn State center right there.

2:07:49Pat McAfee:Oh, yes. Obviously, Remington Award winner. Okay, so he had you as the best offensive line in ball. James Cook, obviously, rushing leader. Josh Allen, MVP conversation every single year. How do you feel about the group up front? How do you feel about the boys and you coming back? What do you think that messaging is from Bean to the offense under a new Joe Brady head coach?

2:08:09Peter Schrager:Bean's made a forefront that rebuilding the offensive line. He didn't want to rebuild it, keeping four out of the five. David Edwards is going to New Orleans. I know he's going to do a great job down there. But the good thing is the past few years, we really haven't missed many games, not gone wood. So we've grown a lot together and got to continue this for the next few years, have someone slide in left guard. I think we're in a great spot.

2:08:28Pat McAfee:I just got sent a video of you buying a bunch of pizza. You like pizza, Paisano? Are you Connor McGovern? Are you a big Paisano, a big pizza? Do you make these pizzas? What's the pizza story here in Buffalo?

2:08:40Travis Kelce:So right now I actually have some right here.

2:08:42Peter Schrager:So my favorite spot here, Pizzeria Florian, brought some in for the whole media today. But my thing is I make pizza for the guys. We do it a couple times throughout the year. I don't know how many times we've done it over the last three years, but we're something like 16-1 when we do it. So we're very superstitious about these pizza Fridays when I make them for the guys.

2:09:00Pat McAfee:Hold on, you're whipping the dough there? You're doing all of this?

2:09:03Peter Schrager:Oh, we do everything. Everything is made from scratch when I do it, yeah. We're throwing it up, making everything from scratch, sauce, everything. Your pie's on? Oh, yes. Everything.

2:09:13Pat McAfee:Are you paisan?

2:09:15Peter Schrager:Paisan. Are you Italian? Are you Italian? You're Italian. Oh, no, no, no, not at all. I have no Italian in me. Okay. I got the black hair. I got the mustache going I do during the season, but no Italian.

2:09:25Pat McAfee:Yeah, making pizza, flipping dough.

2:09:27Peter Schrager:I mean, there's a lot of potential. I'm just a big white guy that likes to eat.

2:09:30Pat McAfee:I like that. What's the topping? What's our favorite topping of pizza?

2:09:34Peter Schrager:So everyone loves the hot honey up here, but the biggest thing, like, number one that goes within seconds guys are burning their hands for it because i make a cheesesteak calzone everyone as soon as it comes out of the oven they're going right after it okay so we're just

2:09:45Pat McAfee:folding that that pizza in half right there right and then are you clamping the ends too are you clamping the end so we're not getting cheese and sauce outside exactly yeah you don't want anything

2:09:53Peter Schrager:pouring out you clamp it together roll it up send in the oven yeah because it burns my hands you see and then it ruins the entire experience yeah exactly you don't want to do that how many of

2:10:02Pat McAfee:these are you but do you do you have a pizza oven like you just got 32 million guaranteed Congratulations. Yeah. So are you getting like a commercial pizza oven right now? What are you doing? A dough maker?

2:10:11Peter Schrager:So at my house, so I have like pizza steels, like steel plates built into my oven. And so that gets it up. So my oven only gets like 500 degrees. Put those right in and it's like rocket hot with the steel plates. But we're turning out 30, 40 pizzas plus because we get over 30 people every time. Jesus Christ. Oh, it's no laughing at me. We're like, I get home Friday, say 12 o 'clock. I'm prepping for four hours. Guys come over cooking for four hours. It's an eight-hour shift.

2:10:38Pat McAfee:Okay, okay. So you do an eight-hour shift so you can feed everybody their own individual pizza with the honey on top of it. That sounds like a great culture. That feels like a big piece of your guys' remedy. Tell me about the culture that has been placed up there in Buffalo because it feels like every time we get eyes on it, it looks awesome. I didn't know a guy who's worth 30-some million guaranteed at offensive line is whipping pies all day on Friday for the boys. That's a whole other level of commitment to camaraderie. But can you tell me about the culture up there? what you think people find when they get there.

2:11:08Peter Schrager:It's a very close-knit team. It doesn't matter offense, defense, special teams. We're all just very close. I've been a part of teams where you've got your cliques, your groups. Not here. It's an entire team. Everyone loves hanging out with each other. It's almost like a college vibe how close we are because there's not really much to do in Buffalo. A lot of times you're snowed in. So these guys, everyone in the room is just very close with one another.

2:11:28Pat McAfee:Can you hang out for like three minutes real quick and then we get back to you? Of course. Ladies and gentlemen, we have some massive news.

2:11:39Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, there has been some breaking news. The Raiders are sending quarterback Geno Smith and a 2026 seventh round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 sixth round pick per ESPN sources. Smith returns to the team for which he started his NFL career in 2013. He obviously knows the area. He knows the building. He knows the stripes. Does he know how to make that team a winner for the first time in a long time? I guess we shall see. Now, we were chit-chatting a little bit earlier about, hey, if he's not going to be on a roster, just cut him. You can always hang on and hope for a trade to take place.

2:12:15Pat McAfee:That has happened here. Let's head to the man who broke the news and kind of alluded to it earlier. Felt like he knew what was coming down the pipe. I don't know if he knew it was a trade or not. Shefty, how did we get to a trade for Geno back to the Jets?

2:12:26Adam Schefter:Okay, listen, here's the deal, Pat. First of all, we have more breaking news, which we'll get to in a moment. But essentially, the Jets know that Geno's going to be released. And it's a situation where they got into discussions with the Raiders. Jets have all these extra picks. So they're flipping picks. And now the Jets get to lock in Geno Smith. Geno Smith also is going to restructure his contract with the Jets. So they get him again on a deal where they'll be helped out. It won't be the existing contract. It's going to be restructured. That's done as well. So Geno Smith now will be returning to the Jets.

2:12:59Adam Schefter:One other piece of breaking news here. Romeo Dobbs is going to Connors Patriots. There we go. More breaking news. So the former Packers wide receiver had a choice of places to go and has decided to go to the New England Patriots.

2:13:14Pat McAfee:How many different places did he have? Can you give us a rough estimate?

2:13:18Adam Schefter:I think in the end he had a lot, but he whittled it down, and in the end there were a couple of teams left.

2:13:22Pat McAfee:Okay, a couple of teams left, one of them being the Patriots. Patriots, we had heard and thought through Connors' existence, Maybe A.J. Brown gets traded up there because of how close he is with Vrabel. Does this completely rule out the A.J. Brown?

2:13:33Adam Schefter:No, I don't think it rules it out, but certainly I think it diminishes the importance that a trade needs to happen. I think it gives the Patriots a little bit of flexibility. It adds another receiver to their room. They needed more help there. They're going to get Romeo Dobbs here now.

2:13:47Pat McAfee:Super Bowl last year. First year as Vrabel head coach. Second year, Drake May at quarterback. How do you feel about the pickup of Dobbs? Obviously, we watch very closely through Ty Schmidt's Green Bay Packers season.

2:13:57Travis Kelce:Yeah, very excited, especially because of how massive his head looks in the Guardian cap. I think it'll only look bigger in New England. It's great just because he's been a number one wide receiver. You know, with the Packers, they had Watson for a little, but he was kind of in and out of injuries. And sometimes it was really only Dobbs being Jordan Love's target. Him, I believe Matt Collins still there. Kyle Williams will go into his second year. Very interested to see what the contract is. But hearing Shefty also say, hey, this doesn't rule out A.J. Brown. That's huge. Just adding to the room, though.

2:14:27Travis Kelce:They added to the pass rush and the edge with Draymond Jones yesterday. Then they did Elijah Vera Tucker for the O-line, and now they're doing a receiver. They're kind of checking off all the big issue boxes that the Patriots had towards the end of the season. Huge get bringing in Romeo Dobbs.

2:14:41Pat McAfee:I mean, that guardian cap is gigantic, but the plays he makes are also special. Dobbs was a hell of a player for the Packers.

2:14:47Travis Kelce:Yeah, he's so good. There's different types of wide receivers. We talked about the Mike Evans types, where it doesn't matter how much space he creates. He's always open because of his size and his catch radius. Dobbs can make the tough catches, but he also creates space down after down. So that's the biggest thing with wide receivers. The best ones that we see, they consistently create space. So when you've got a quarterback and an offensive play caller like Josh McDaniels, this is a great pairing for Romeo Dobbs in his next chapter in his career. I'm happy for him, too. I know he was dealing with some shit off the field a couple years ago, so I love to see him getting his bag that he earned.

2:15:19Travis Kelce:And obviously, he's a great young player.

2:15:21Pat McAfee:Yeah, I love him ball again. It's great to see him out there having fun. He's a real talent. Joining us in the AFC East, got a new brawl, Connor McGovern, who center for the Buffalo Bills. Thank you for dodge, duck, dip diving, and dodging with us through some news breaks. We might have to do that again. Last question for you here from Darius J. Butler. We're all big fans, Connor. Thank you for hanging. Is that a big-ass bison behind you? It is. I like that. Of course. Okay, D-Bud has a question for you, Connor.

2:15:46Travis Kelce:You got a new head coach now with Joe Brady, but you're obviously very familiar with him. I felt like once he took over play call in that run game, James Cook obviously led the league in rushing last year. What's your favorite part about Joe Brady's run game? And what is your favorite run play? I remember that Steelers game. I feel like you guys ran duo 30 times in a row. So, yeah, kind of a two-parter for me.

2:16:06Peter Schrager:Yeah. No, he brought – I remember two years ago when he took over halfway through the year, he just said, we're getting back to the basics. We're going to establish the line of scrimmage up front. And we took that as a challenge up front. And I think he did a great job just trusting us and talking with Aaron Cromer all the time. Like, hey, what do we like here? What runs are we like? And he's not afraid just to keep dialing up the same thing over and over, as you saw in the Pittsburgh game, running duo mid-zone just over and over and over again and just taking opponents' will to play. And that's what we feed off up front.

2:16:37Peter Schrager:But overall, I'd say that duo play is my favorite, just blocking back on a monster across from me, just holding off and just letting it run frontside.

2:16:45Pat McAfee:Yeah, and you did it. 22 straight? I forget. I think it was more like 26 or 8.

2:16:49Peter Schrager:Yeah, that does feel good.

2:16:51Pat McAfee:That felt like –

2:16:51Peter Schrager:Yeah, we ran 20-some times that game, and that was by far the most fun game. And we're out two starting offensive linemen.

2:16:57Pat McAfee:That was by far the most fun game. We were having so much fun. It felt like Pop Warner. You know what I mean? Let's go back to the days. That coaching staff's gone. What's that? What? New team.

2:17:06Peter Schrager:Yeah. New turf. Bingo. Thank you.

2:17:09Pat McAfee:Yeah, absolutely. That's what you need. All right, we appreciate you joining us and bobbing through there. The bison above your shoulder there, do you know the dimensions of that actual bison? Do you know what the dimensions are of that one?

2:17:21Peter Schrager:I personally do not know. What about the stadium ones?

2:17:25Pat McAfee:Yeah.

2:17:26Peter Schrager:The stadium ones are going to be big. I know that.

2:17:28Pat McAfee:How do you know? Have you had eyes on these things?

2:17:32Peter Schrager:I'm not saying anything more than that. I know.

2:17:35Pat McAfee:Whoa. Secret of shit going on up there. Hey, that's how tight that camaraderie is. This guy's whipping pie for eight hours on Fridays for the boys. How many Connor McGoverns are the bison? Yeah, that's a good call. Good question. How many pizzas?

2:17:48Peter Schrager:I bet a bison could put away a lot of pizza a lot we would love to have one maybe put in the backyard and just feed a pizza and see how long

2:17:56Pat McAfee:you're living good up there bison in the backyard 32 million guaranteed for a center of the man ladies and gentlemen the center for the Buffalo Bills Connor McGovern thank you this guy's making pizzas for 8 hours for the boys that's unbelievable culture

2:18:11Travis Kelce:on a Friday

2:18:13Pat McAfee:fast Friday we get in get out offense alignment I mean, just, yeah, guys, wait till you see what I got tonight. We're adding a little extra salt to this damn dough. Steak and cheese. Whipping it. You guys want to come out and have a couple beers, 2, 3 o 'clock? I'll be in the middle of trying to get this 14th batch going at that time. 30 pizzas.

2:18:29Travis Kelce:Crazy.

2:18:30Pat McAfee:Eight hours. Love everything about it. Romeo Dobbs' deal is expected to be four years,$70 million. It's just a great deal. With the New England Patriots. Let's head over to the free agency, Friend Zone, with Orlovsky and Schrag. Craig Schrag's big deal here for Dobbs on day two.

2:18:46Darius Butler:Sure is. And, you know, they don't have Stephon Diggs anymore. You insert Romeo Dobbs, and that's going to be a big expectation for him to step up. Look, Todd Downing is the wide receivers coach in New England. Longtime NFL coach. I have to think, Orlovsky, you were in a Todd Downing offense at one point. His best pal in coaching, a guy that he was with with the Jets, is a guy named Nathaniel Hackett. And you know him well. Who was up there in Green Bay the last season watching Dobbs on a day-to-day basis? it was obviously Hackett so there's absolutely someone who can vouch for him here's the deal with the Patriots everyone is still looking at AJ Brown as this big fish but in the meantime over the over the the nighttime they went and got Elijah Vera Tucker who went healthy is still a very good offensive guard and they pick up Romeo Dobbs who last year showed that he could be a mature NFL player and still be able to get it done Darius Butler mentioned it earlier he was suspended for a game by Matt LaFleur and said hey just take some time man like figure this is two years ago and it's like immaturity issues you hear all these things about personal stuff in his life whatever it was and the fans went nuts in green bay saying what are we getting and then he came back and had an outstanding back half of the season two years ago and then last year was fantastic i could not be happier for romeo dobs 70 million dollars for a guy who people were wondering last year whether he was going to be in the nfl in two years based on oh this that and whatever very cool signing for them but i don't necessarily think they are

2:20:07Pat McAfee:done I still think they are in the AJ Brown market Dana what are your thoughts on Dobbs and and what

2:20:12Dan Orlovsky:he can do for Drake May totally changes their offense I I love Romeo Dobbs like I love him I think it's a huge loss for Green Bay or significant loss for Green Bay Ty you can speak to it as well just being a Packers fan I would tell you this like Dobbs is one of those quintessential one-on-one win guys yep like he wins all the time with his route running also if you watch him catch of football. Ball is more often than not caught away from his body. He's got strong hands, which I think is a huge deal when it comes to pass catchers. And just from a New England perspective now, I'm telling you, it's a big deal.

2:20:48Dan Orlovsky:Think of the four young pieces they have on the perimeter, okay? We'll take Dobbs, young piece, boom. Kayshawn Booty, we saw just totally emerged last year. Kyle Williams, who's going to be in his second year, there's Speedster, and then Travion Henderson. And so we're watching a team that surprised a lot of people last year go to Super Bowl. I love this move. I'm telling everybody he's healthy. He's a difference maker on the perimeter. He was the go-to guy in Green Bay. This is not some second-day free agency signing. This is a big deal. This is a big acquisition for that offense.

2:21:21Pat McAfee:Okay, well, D-Bot and everybody up here said this is the second-day free agency signing. I mean, that is actually what it is. But it is four years,$70 million. That's a huge deal. Conman, you're jacked up, brother.

2:21:32Travis Kelce:Yeah, jacked up, especially what he said just about like, hey, one-on-one, this guy's going to go win. We haven't had that. Stephon Diggs was that for sure in some spots, but then we saw him in the Super Bowl, really couldn't get open very much. Romeo Dobbs being that and just being a great red zone target, I know from watching Green Bay over the years, having him be that guy for Drake May, especially with how young he is, is huge. A dependable guy, too. Yeah. Dependable. Everything you guys are saying one-on-one, and I don't know why when Dan O said Patriots, I just thought like Deion Branch.

2:22:00Travis Kelce:I know I'm outside of the Patriots world, but Deion Branch was a go-to guy, very dependable guy, huge moments. And when I see Romeo Dobbs, I kind of see glimpses of that. I can't wait to see what this next chapter will be like with him and Drake May.

2:22:15Pat McAfee:Good for the Patriots, obviously. Yeah, it is. Yeah, we thought they were going to be a little bit more active yesterday. We thought maybe they'd be in for A.J. Brown. Maybe they'd be able to send something to Howie Roseman that was enough to get A.J. Brown back with Vrabel with Drake May and is going into his third year as maybe the best deep ball thrower in the NFL. So now he's got Dobbs. I assume they're not done at that particular position. And the Patriots made the Super Bowl in Vrabes' first year. We're 308 days into this is what he was saying or something like that after they lost the Super Bowl.

2:22:44Pat McAfee:How do you feel about your team? We're 308 days into this. You could tell like that was going to be whatever the number was. That was going to be like the mantra. Like, hey, this is where we are right now. We need to work our asses off. That's certainly going to help them. Congrats to him getting a bag too. Now, let's talk about bags. You know, every once in a while, there's a restructure of a deal whenever a trade happens to help the new team or to hurt the previous team. Geno Smith restructures his deal to help everything out. The Raiders will pay the bulk of it, and the Jets will take on Smith's contract at just over vet men, which is like$1.2 million,$1.3 million.

2:23:17Pat McAfee:So this is the Russell Wilson deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is what the Kyler Murray deal is expected to be with whatever team he ends up going to. When you're getting paid by another team, You can go ahead and take the vet men to be on the roster and then let the money build the other spots. Jets not going to be paying a lot of money to Geno here. The Jets have a lot of picks. The Jets got money. Are the Jets a problem? Geno Smith is a New York Jet. Does that let the world know that this ain't going to be the Jets of last year where we had to fire the entire coaching staff but the head coach?

2:23:51Pat McAfee:This is going to be a whole new era, a whole new time. And to come full circle, you have to go back to the beginning. That's true. And Geno, in his era there, was waiting. Yep. And now they're right back here. Let's head to the free agency fun zone, a man who is from New York. Schrags, Geno Smith, vet men with the Jets. How do we feel about it? What are expectations?

2:24:12Darius Butler:Look, if you're looking for some Jet fan, like, oh, there's this great fond memories of the Geno Smith era. Like, I don't know if the fans have that. They appreciate what Geno did his first two years starting as a rookie out of the great school, West Virginia. Thank you. And then a couple good years, and then obviously had the incident in the locker room. It was all she wrote, and then bounced team to team to team to team. And then on the other end of it, now becomes this reliable veteran who can be a leader in the locker room. Dan and I did a Raiders-Chargers Monday night game, met with Geno Smith for 40 minutes.

2:24:43Darius Butler:And interceptions aside, this is a guy who has seen it all in the NFL. And has been in a million systems. And comes in, and at the very least is your bridge quarterback to whatever the future is. Jets fans will roll their eyes at anything they do And that's just what it is Look, it's not going to be Kyler Murray It's not Malik Willis But Geno could still play quarterback in this league And if it was Geno Smith or Joe Flacco or Carson Wentz Or whoever it was It's not the future, it's the now And it's just to hold it over I will say this though about the Jets They still have a very good young offensive line So you're putting all the pieces in place And Geno Smith is a competent quarterback I'm not giving this an A plus grade by any means But at$1.2 million, the guy can still throw a football and has seen a million things in his NFL career.

2:25:26Darius Butler:He brings some wisdom as well. And now he'll be under Frank Reich's leadership.

2:25:30Dan Orlovsky:He's an adult. They needed an adult in the room.

2:25:32Darius Butler:Brady Cook started the last five games of their season.

2:25:34Dan Orlovsky:And it's not that Justin Fields is, come on. Brady Cook and Cooks.

2:25:39Pat McAfee:But go ahead, Daniel. It's shrapnel.

2:25:41Dan Orlovsky:I think that they tried Justin Fields last year. It didn't go great. There were some injuries. I just think having the opportunity to bring Geno there, brings them some stability bring an adult like just bring a pro he that's Gino may not be playing the best football of his career that he did three years ago I still think he plays give them a chance to win games football um I agree with the offensive line it would be a better situation the ideal season for the Jets is for them to win a couple games be competitive and then really strike in the 2027 draft I know I keep saying that but that's just the reality of the long And I would add this.

2:26:20Darius Butler:Last year, the Raiders were very aggressive and Pete Carroll and they brought Geno Smith in and the Seahawks, you know, obviously they moved on and they went with Sam Darnold. But if you go back and you read the media coverage of that entire situation, most people said, well, Seattle's making a major risk moving on from Geno Smith to go to Sam Darnold. So let's not just look at last year in that Gino obviously did not go well in Vegas. Let's take the bigger picture of this, realize who he's played for, where he has played. He has started. He has been a backup. And at$1.2 million, what are we talking about here?

2:26:53Pat McAfee:That is a fine addition to your team. Frank Reich, OC, you know, ready to get back into it over there in New York. What are the weapons? What are the New York Jets' weapons? Brees Hall, he's pumped. Yeah, Garrett Wilson.

2:27:05Connor McGovern:A.D.

2:27:05Darius Butler:Mitchell. A.D. Mitchell.

2:27:07Pat McAfee:Brees Hall is real pumped.

2:27:08Darius Butler:He's watching other people's wallets, right? Yeah, yeah.

2:27:11Peter Schrager:Garrett played six games, I think, last year and was their leading receiver.

2:27:14Darius Butler:Yeah, the Jets have to add a lot.

2:27:18Pat McAfee:Shranks, off camera right there. They're dropping in. They have to add a lot. They got a lot of time. They got a lot of chance to figure it all out.

2:27:25Darius Butler:They lost, I think, by 30 the last four games of the season, 30 or more. I mean, it was a horrendous product. One of the worst products of football we've ever seen was the Jets the final month of the season. And it's not fair to those fans. It's not. That is just a terrible, terrible thing to put on. You're selling season tickets. You're selling them. You're making them come to preseason games. You're asking them to do all this stuff. They know that. They know that it's unacceptable. So the hope is that they're charting a new path, and Gino's an adult and can help lead them that way.

2:27:52Pat McAfee:What's his name, Dano? Peter Schraga. That's what it sounded like right there. My favorite thing from the sweetest. Peter's breaking it down right there. Schraga, I love that you just said, I'm going to say what it is, because I want to let you know, for the first time, I think maybe in this show's existence, I've gotten to a point where I've given up full hope in an entire franchise. And I don't like that. I like to give everybody hope because anything can happen in the NFL. You know, literally you add one player, it changes an entire culture. The Colts go from being like fourth overall pick, no changes, terrible culture.

2:28:22Pat McAfee:Daniel Jones comes in, we're 8-2, we're doing magic. Cincinnati Bengals before Joe Burrow kind of made the Super Bowl, you know, you're kind of in there. I always try to be as optimistic as possible for every single situation. When I saw Aaron Glenn get caught sleeping at the combine, I was like, man, the football gods hate these people. They hate these guys. They hate them. Seriously. Because there's other people sleeping, but they're choosing not to show my eyes that. It's like, hey, just want you to know, Jets are doing it again.

2:28:46Darius Butler:There's this, there's this like. The Jets are doing it again.

2:28:48Pat McAfee:Go ahead, Frank.

2:28:48Darius Butler:There's this persona of like, oh, I'm the Jet fan. And I'm saying this in general of like Jet fans of like, oh, I'm just cursed. And I can't believe. And you saw the meme with the kids saying like, why don't you like. At the end of the day, like it sucks. It sucks. It sucks being a Jet fan because they have this streak of the longest streak of not making the playoffs. And every year you think maybe. And then this and last offseason are real years where you're like, no, they're not going to. Like, there is very little hope. So you think with all these draft picks, with Mugi now saying, hey, I can make some savvy moves here.

2:29:21Travis Kelce:Maybe.

2:29:21Darius Butler:This is a glimmer. It's a glimmer. At least there's a glimmer. There is a window for that to actually happen. Five first round picks the next two years. That's easy. there is a hope that at least we could pin ourselves on the future if you are a Jet fan. But make no mistake, that is as loyal a fan base and who has been through the crap of the crap the last decade and a half, and they deserve this.

2:29:43Pat McAfee:They have a full line change of first-round picks coming up. I mean, that's an insane thought.

2:29:47Peter Schrager:And I think they did that before, and they got Sauce, and they got Jermaine Johnson, and they got Quinton Williams. And Brees Hall. And Brees Hall. And Garrett Wilson. They've done that before, and they hit on every single pick. And they were still the Jets. And that's probably why Jets fans probably feel the way they were. How many interceptions did they have this year on defense? Yeah. Zero. Traded for Minka, though.

2:30:09Darius Butler:Tone, they didn't get the quarterback. You need a quarterback. True.

2:30:12Dan Orlovsky:They hit on all those picks. But Zach Wilson.

2:30:14Darius Butler:Zach Wilson wasn't the guy. And nor was Christian Hackenberg. And nor was Brady Cook. You're right. Hackenberg.

2:30:19Pat McAfee:Hackenberg had a shot, though. He was good. I want to let you know, I lived the Jets life there for a while with Aaron. I was so excited. I remember September 11th with that flag.

2:30:30Travis Kelce:Monday Night Football. Cursed.

2:30:32Pat McAfee:Got a handheld jib on her. Probably Spanx. That awesome.

2:30:36Darius Butler:I think Gary Vee said that was a top five sports moment of his life, just a man running out with an American flag.

2:30:42Pat McAfee:It was all there. The hype, the hard knocks, the entire offseason. It was like, hey, we're doing it. Mike Greenberg, one of the most notable Jets fans on earth, said he would cut. He would do it. He said, I'll cut it off.

2:30:55Connor McGovern:He said he was going to say fuck on air, too, if they.

2:30:57Pat McAfee:Yeah, if they were just to make a playoff game, I think is what he said for the Aaron era. We were all bought in. I was bought in, Harps. I was bought in.

2:31:03Travis Kelce:Picked to win a Super Bowl. Thought they were going to go to the Super Bowl. That's how good they were. And keep in mind, they won that game. They won that game.

2:31:10Pat McAfee:Yeah, Xavier Gibson. They went many after that. I mean, it went real bad. And for Jets fans, they said this won exactly how it's about. Four offensive plays is what we got with that entire hype machine. And then the next year was just an inevitable turnover from the Salah era and then now Aaron Rodgers is going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback again? Not going to be a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. We shall see. Geno Smith to the Jets. Tua to the Falcons. Where is Kyler going to go to? Is he going to get traded? Let's head inside the Schefter free agency frenzy zone. Schefter, trade for Geno.

2:31:43Pat McAfee:Does that follow a trade?

2:31:45Adam Schefter:Is a Kyler trade coming as well now? I don't know that a Kyler trade is coming. The contract is too prohibitive. In this particular case, the Raiders and Jets restructured that. That deal gets done. The Raiders will pay the bulk of the contract. The Jets will carry just over veteran minimum. And it felt like Geno was just destined to wind up in New York. So you're starting to see the quarterback dominoes fit together now, right? How many chairs are there left logically for Kyler Murray? A lot of teams would have interest. But what would be an interesting, compelling chair? Minnesota. So it's just the logical fit that's out there for when the Arizona Cardinals ultimately release Kyler Murray, which is expected to happen as early as tomorrow, 4 p.m.

2:32:28Adam Schefter:Eastern. But again, you see Tua go to Atlanta. You see Geno go to New York. The teams are filling in their quarterback blanks right now. Daniel Jones is going to be staying in Indianapolis on the transition tag. We'll see if they get the tag and the deal worked out. He's not going anywhere, Pat. Where do you think he's going right now? I don't know.

2:32:47Pat McAfee:Well, definitely for the Achilles and a broken leg, but if we know anything about Daniel Jones, As he's dog, he'll ace it. He'll get through it faster than anybody in history. When's he expected to be back playing? Well, and you're saying he's going to be a Colt. He's not going anywhere. We're in a good spot.

2:32:58Adam Schefter:That's correct. And I believe he'll be ready for opening day. That's what their hope and expectation is. We're back, baby! Wow.

2:33:06Pat McAfee:Oh! Holy hell! Optimism levels high for the Indianapolis Colts all of a sudden. Now, we're going to have to make some hits on some other stuff. I appreciate the fact that the Colts and Alec Pierce wanted us to announce the deal. Very kind of them. Some trades took place as well, maybe some on the horizon. So Daniel Jones will be our quarterback. Two is down there. Gina's in New York. What other spots are available? What's everybody looking for other than the Vikings? Anywhere else? Raiders or Fernando?

2:33:32Adam Schefter:The Raiders will be Fernando. Again, you can go through, and there are still a lot of strong quarterbacks out there. Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, who will be released tomorrow. There's a lot of options out there. And so it's just a question of where these guys are. Carson Wentz is still out there as well. So these guys now are looking for essentially backup jobs. There aren't many. Can you think of a starting job that's available right now? I can't.

2:34:00Dan Orlovsky:Arizona? Yeah, but they brought in Gardner.

2:34:02Adam Schefter:They brought in Gardner and they have Jacoby Brissett. Those are their two guys that they're going to ride with right now.

2:34:06Darius Butler:What's Cleveland doing?

2:34:08Adam Schefter:That's it. Okay. Shador Sanders. Pro Bowler. They have Deshaun Watson. And by the way, let me say this. There are people out there, and we'll see how it unfolds, But there are people out there who believe that Deshaun Watson could very well be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

2:34:25Pat McAfee:I saw him doing running back drills. I saw him doing running back drills.

2:34:29Adam Schefter:He's getting paid.

2:34:30Pat McAfee:He was. He's definitely getting paid. And I do appreciate the fact that he's like, you know what? I will give this thing a go again that's paying me$230 million guaranteed. Let's go ahead and try this out. Because at one point when Deshaun Watson was playing good football, boom, it was awesome football to watch. We were down there in the AFC South watching when he was with the Texans. There was a time where J.J. Watt was walking off the field after the last game of the season, and he looks at Deshaun Watson and goes, so sorry we wasted one of your years, man. There was a time where this guy was being described as the Michael Jordan of football.

2:35:00Pat McAfee:Now, obviously, a lot happened. A lot, a lot, a lot happened off the field. A lot happened on the field. It was a very long, dramatic, very serious and intense stuff that took place. So mentally, was he ever going to be able to get back to being a quarterback, especially whenever you're sitting on super satin sheets the most satin sheets in the history of nfl with your fully 230 million dollar guarantee will you ever be able to get back to that we hadn't seen it i mean we hadn't seen it we didn't we didn't expect it that would have been the mental toughness level to be able to get back to being elite qb while getting paid as much as you have without playing for as long as you had and with all the work that it takes especially transit going to a different it's like i thought that was going to be tough to see him play football after he took that long off, but maybe he's hit a point in life.

2:35:48Pat McAfee:One last go here. One last time to lead a team. And the Cleveland Browns are a place that do not have a set-up quarterback, so maybe he is able to rewrite the end of his football story, his football life, and maybe that happens with the Cleveland Browns.

2:36:03Travis Kelce:Maybe. I don't see it. I don't see it either. I don't see it happening. I wish him the best, but it's Shadour time in there. You've seen him with Todd Mockin a couple times already. We'll see where they go, but, you know. You know where I'm at. Yeah.

2:36:15Pat McAfee:You know what I'm at? You know what I'm at? Yep. What about the ooze? Perfect timing. What about Dylan Gabriel? Dylan Gabriel, not even in the conversation. No. I haven't seen a photo of him on the internet either. Todd Munkin actually said to Shador, we saw it on one of the vlogs, whether it was Cleveland Browns or Shador's vlog, where he said, hey, I was trying to draft you. Hey. What happened there? What's that about? I was the one that wanted you in Baltimore. We'll have to talk about that someday. Shador was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, man. I appreciate you. I appreciate you, too.

2:36:43Pat McAfee:But I think in that brief interaction, I think we saw that Todd was interested in Shador. Shador has this aura about him to be leading guy. Shador's teams did have success. Now, a lot of people point at his numbers and say, hey, okay, let's not do it. He's a lead guy. And maybe if he gets an offense, he has a chance to do it. But if Deshaun Watson's the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline. If Dylan Gabriel was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that would be a storyline. If Shador Sanders was the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, that'd be the leading storyline for everybody as we see how it goes.

2:37:17Pat McAfee:And the Cleveland Browns haven't won in forever. Ever. And then when they did win, they kicked the quarterback out of town.

2:37:22Travis Kelce:Yeah.

2:37:23Pat McAfee:So it's like, I don't know with Cleveland. It's just like New York. The longer we do this job and we watch things just continue to happen and unfold, you do kind of lose a little hope for some places.

2:37:33Travis Kelce:Who turns it around first, New York or Cleveland? Cleveland.

2:37:36Connor McGovern:New York. Oof. If Todd Monken is wearing the jacket and jeans on the sidelines when he's coaching, they'll win 12 games this year.

2:37:45Pat McAfee:I agree.

2:37:46Connor McGovern:I don't know if he will. He walked in the building.

2:37:48Pat McAfee:There was people getting coffee in the back. We see head coaches walk in the buildings, and they shut it all down. They're clapping for them. They're doing the whole thing. Todd Monken walked in, baggy jeans, overcoat, button-down brown shirt, his own coffee with a briefcase. Just walked in. Hey, how's this going? Who the hell is this guy?

2:38:06Travis Kelce:Hey, sorry we didn't get everybody out here for you. He actually said that, yeah.

2:38:11Pat McAfee:Sorry we didn't do the whole thing. He walks in, he walks around. It's like, yes, we love this guy. Then he looked out at the practice field. They panned the camera. It's like gray shit. You know, just absolute shit. Guys crying on the field. Certainly football fields out there, but just not a good view. It's the weather. It's the weather where it's at. It's like, yeah. He's like, yeah, this is where I want to be. I'm like, I love this guy. I think I like Todd Monk a lot. Yeah. Okay, so I believe in the Browns more than I believe in the Tets. That's what I'm going to say. Okay. How about you? Oh, shit.

2:38:40Pat McAfee:Let's go to the free agency fun zone before you give your answer. Shrigs, Jets or Browns? Orlovsky, Jets or Browns? Who wins two playoff games first?

2:38:53Darius Butler:Two? Two is asking a lot. I was going to say, who can get back to the playoffs first? I would think Cleveland's in a lot better position based on the talent on their roster and their draft class last year. You look at Schwessinger and what he did, and obviously the running backs that they got in that draft and then Harold Fannin. I am a Shador believer in that he could compete for this job at the very least. And you look at the team, and then, of course, Miles Garrett's like, it's a better roster right now. Cleveland is by far a better roster than the Jets. Question is, is there an upside? And do the Jets now have this complete blank canvas that if they can draft the right players, they could have an even better draft class than what the Browns did last year and really sore?

2:39:30Dan Orlovsky:I'll go with the Jets. By far, better roster?

2:39:33Darius Butler:I would think I would take Cleveland's roster over the Jets. Oh, sure. Exactly.

2:39:37Dan Orlovsky:I mean, basically five new starting offensive linemen.

2:39:41Darius Butler:That's the letters N-A, not applicable right now.

2:39:44Dan Orlovsky:Right, but still, five offensive linemen. The perimeter weapons are not probably the worst skill group in the NFL. And Joku's not staying here. Gary Judy. He's a free agent. Judy's a good player, but that's really all they have. Fannin was great last year. Fannin was young and promising. Broke the record. Judkins. Judkins. The Jets agree. That's a good point. The Jets with their offensive line, Brees Hall, Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, all those picks in the future, I think there's a lot of ammunition for the Jets to get right. They've got to hit quarterback next year.

2:40:18Darius Butler:We're arguing about what could be the 31st and 32nd roster in the NFL. That's a good point.

2:40:23Pat McAfee:Every year it seems like it's that way, which is why we feel bad for their fans, but we respect their fans. their fans are who we would send out in a representation of loyalty to program, especially those Jets ones. I lived that for two years. Yeah, right. The Browns fans just feel like they're up for it. Now they got a new stadium. It's going to be inside.

2:40:41Travis Kelce:Yeah, and they have a sweet dog pound. Dog pound.

2:40:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, that should be pretty nasty. That's going to be a good set.

2:40:47Peter Schrager:Just so everyone knows, historically, the Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010, and the Browns have one playoff win, always against the Steelers, since 1994. So either of them getting the two is probably not happening. cream of the poop.

2:41:00Pat McAfee:The situation I laid out that I was trying to get people to pick, they are the cream of the poop. They are seemingly the cream of the poop right there on the top. You're saying, what if they never win two playoffs? We can't live in that world where they're never going to win two playoffs. Look at the Lions. Look what the Lions did. And they've only won two.

2:41:21Peter Schrager:Well, we were the one seed one year, so we had a bye week, so that counts as another playoff win. Get him, Foxy. Go, Foxy. Get him, Foxy. There's that loser mentality.

2:41:30Pat McAfee:They might never go back. Yeah, and then Schrager called it out and said, hey, hope you enjoyed that. This shit's over. And then it was.

2:41:38Connor McGovern:It was.

2:41:39Pat McAfee:It was. Pacheco maybe and Gibbs getting back together today could certainly be something. But you're saying. What's that, pal?

2:41:46Darius Butler:Just yelling.

2:41:46Pat McAfee:Oh, yeah, the guy. He needs to not stand next to MCDC the first time I see him together.

2:41:51Peter Schrager:I agree.

2:41:51Pat McAfee:They need to be separated. Just strictly because what my brain does when I'm speaking in this mic whenever I think of people. Those photos up with him, I need to see more of those. That's what I need for my brain, and I have faith in him. I think he's going to do well strictly because I believe in MCDC. Let's talk about some other sports that are happening before we wrap up here on this day two of the free agency frenzy, which hasn't really been that frantic.

2:42:14Peter Schrager:No, it really hasn't.

2:42:16Pat McAfee:Day two, not really frantic. Kind of boring.

2:42:19Peter Schrager:Day one was too frantic.

2:42:20Pat McAfee:Yeah, a lot of franticness, a lot of chaos in day one. Maybe something will end here, and if it does, we'll obviously get to a Shefty tweet. But there's other sports that are happening that we certainly need to talk about. Let's talk about a marathon. I don't know if you guys saw this. An American stole a marathon at the end because of grit, passion, and conditioning. My man.

2:42:41Peter Schrager:I thought we had to tweet. My man. Math teacher.

2:42:46Pat McAfee:He's a math teacher, a coach at the very end. Steals this thing for the United States of America. This absolute stallion, this absolute legend, Nathan Martin, comes through in a huge way to win for the United States of America for himself. And in doing so, showcases a grit and a resolve that we can all be inspired by. That's 26 miles in. Sprinting. That's 26 miles in. Legend. Usually people hit that thing and, darn, that guy said, I'm going to hit that at a different time. Let's go get this thing. Walks him. I love everything about that.

2:43:24Travis Kelce:Yeah, I mean, that's tough on the other dude, especially face-planting too at the end there. But, hey, grit and jam. We talk about finishing, defending every blade of grass when you're in the NFL. And this is, I mean, this is an unbelievable finish. See ya.

2:43:37Pat McAfee:The NBA has canceled Magic City Night down the way. What the hell? That happened. The NBA canceled it. That's just something that is existing in the NBA world. And then World Baseball Classic, the United States of America have another huge game tonight against the Paisans as we look to go undefeated in pool play. What should we keep an eye on tonight, Ty, as there is massive news brewing right now?

2:44:01Connor McGovern:Yeah, the big thing will be Nolan McLean here, who last year was his first year in the bigs with the Mets, so he's young, but he's got electric stuff. And then I'm very interested to see what the lineup will be like because I think once we get through pool play and then we get into the knockout round, you're going to have to kind of mix and match and certain guys aren't going to be getting at bats anymore.

2:44:21Pat McAfee:Tone, what are some bets that we need to look at here for these? The home run ones have been doing pretty well for us out here on DraftKings.

2:44:27Peter Schrager:They have. You've got to find out who is going to be that home run of the night. Obviously, last night it was Tony Tony's boy, Roman Anthony, and then Aaron Judge. And as far as tonight goes, you know, the Italians are a good squad. They've been playing good ball. USA has not covered the last two games. Now it's minus 9.5 and minus 3.5 in that situation, so we will see minus 5.5 tonight. but whoever you think is going to be the hot bat tonight, you can lay it on there.

2:44:51Pat McAfee:Okay, let's definitely do that. I can't wait to watch United States of America continue to win. We appreciate you boys. Shout out to Nathan Martin, that marathon winner for America, doing that, and we appreciate that. There was some early surfacing of reporting about Daniel Jones maybe having a deal done. Let's go to Adam Schefter, a quick wrap-up on the day. And is Daniel Jones locked in? What's going on here?

2:45:12Adam Schefter:We're waiting to see. Again, there have been talks going on with the Colts, but there was a report that he has a deal done. I was told in no uncertain terms, the quote that I got back was completely wrong. Again, we'll see how it all shakes out. Who had the report?

2:45:29Pat McAfee:I wonder who that was from. The report's been deleted. The internet has been corrected, but I certainly got excited for that. Okay, so we have nothing on that. Anything on any other deals that we might want to keep an eye on for the next couple hours on this day two of free agency frenzy that you've been working on?

2:45:43Adam Schefter:Well, we're still waiting on Trey Hendrickson. And he's the biggest free agent name out there, the best player available, a pass rusher in this market that obviously people are interested in at this point in time. We'll see if he can get a deal done somewhere. Obviously, you want to have a deal done in free agency the first day. That seems to be where the most dollars are. When you get into the second day, not as ideal. And the longer you wait, the less ideal it is. Hopefully, for everybody's sake, Trey Hendrickson gets the deal done soon. We'll see if he is. He's been talking to a bunch of teams.

2:46:15Adam Schefter:That's out there. But again, the big headlines while we've been on the show, Romeo Dobbs winds up in New England with the Patriots on a four-year deal worth over$70 million. There are incentives in there that could get it up to maybe$80, worth up to$80. We'll see. But the Patriots land a big-time wide receiver. That's good for them. And, of course, the trade, Geno Smith. Remember he played his first four years of his career in New York with the Jets. He said, famously, I wrote them. They didn't write back. Well, the Jets have now written back. Letter got lost in the mail, but it's finally recirculated, and Geno Smith has resurfaced.

2:46:52Adam Schefter:He's going to return to the Jets, and the Jets will obviously have Geno Smith this year. He's agreed to a restructured contract. It's just a pick-flop. So essentially, the Jets get him for next to nothing. Geno Smith comes back to New York. It's a full-circle moment in his NFL career, and the Jets still are loaded with all these other draft picks in the upcoming two drafts. So good for them. Another big trade. And they've been wheeling and dealing with a lot of these players. Minka Fitzpatrick yesterday and today, Geno Smith.

2:47:18Pat McAfee:Raiders move up 11 spots in that pick swap. Geno Smith restructures. And the Jets don't have to pick up much of the contract other than vet men. Shefty, we appreciate the hell out of you, man. Thank you for having me. It was an honor. Thank you for doing this. Let's go over to the free agency fun zone. Schrags Orlovsky. Big takeaways of day one, day two of free agency frenzy. We'll start with you, Schrags.

2:47:40Darius Butler:32 teams and their fans believe there's a chance right now. And I look at the teams in Tennessee, and I look at the teams in Las Vegas, and I look at these newborn New York Giants franchise and those fan bases, and I think, okay, it's just the first two days of free agency. Nothing has won there. But I look back to last year, and I think Boston Conner started off the show saying this. Patriots and Seahawks were two of the biggest spenders in the first two days of free agency last year, and we saw them playing for a Super Bowl. If you're a fan of the Raiders, if you're a fan of the Titans, if you're a fan of the Bengals who spent on defense, If you're a fan of a team like the Carolina Panthers or the New York Giants, it's all right to enjoy this.

2:48:13Darius Butler:It's all right to cherish the moment when your team is in the headlines and you're actually spending the money you have to spend. All those teams got better over the last two days, and I'm fired up to see what we can do. We actually talk about the NFL draft, OTAs, training camp, and then you know my favorite time of the season, the NFL kickoff in September. Let's go. Let's go.

2:48:32Pat McAfee:We're already in it. How about you, Dano?

2:48:34Dan Orlovsky:Yeah, I look at the top of the food chain and the bottom of the food chain. I think the bottom of the food chain with some of the teams with second-year quarterbacks and trying to set them up for that huge jump. Tennessee, I love what they did over the past two days. It was complete. Built a defense and the offensive pieces. Daniel Bellinger, Wandale Robinson. So that, what New York did for Jackson Dart. Again, some defensive pieces, but also some of the additions on the offensive side of football. Isaiah Likely, Theo Johnson together at the tight end group. Tyler Shuck in New Orleans getting David Edwards at the guard and then Travis Etienne.

2:49:10Dan Orlovsky:That's the bottom of the food chain and then flip it to the top of the food chain. I love what Baltimore did with Max Crosby. I can't overstate it enough. He's an absolute destructive force. The Buffalo Bills trading for DJ Moore. Like let's continue to try and trace or chase down this trophy. The San Francisco 49ers, Mike Evans, we're close. Let's go get a difference maker in the Rams. The Rams were arguably the second best team in football last year, and they made some massive moves. So I look at the teams realizing how close they are. Go, jump, be aggressive. And the teams with these younger quarterbacks that have struggled recently, like let's try to put together a good football team around a young quarterback and see how good that young guy really is.

2:49:51Pat McAfee:Great work in there, you two. We'll go, boys.

2:49:55Darius Butler:I would just say this. It's been a real pleasure for us. We're not going to do a whole monologue or soloquy, but Dan and I were talking. and Adam's included in this as he's on the phone walking around like a madman in his little box. It means a lot. You invited us out here, guys, and we had such a blast. And being in this little world of yours, it is truly, truly an honor, and we had such a pleasure. And thank you for inviting us.

2:50:15Pat McAfee:No, thank you guys for coming. We love you guys. Obviously, you've contributed to our show in so many different ways. Having a chance, you'd be out here and legitimize us on this glorious free agency, Frenzy Time. We are incredibly thankful. Why don't you come out here? Why don't you guys come out here and join us, actually? Boys, I thought you did a great work. Scott on the jib. Way to go, brother. Way to go, Scott. Scott, we appreciate that. If you want to knock on the door for Schefter to come join us too, that'd be okay. I don't know if he'll be able to. Boys in the back behind the glass. We don't have a camera on you, but good work, boys.

2:50:43Pat McAfee:Good work, boys. Graphic design, boys. Good work out there. Good work, boys. ZD, Zito Production, good work out there. Bill, good work sniping these photos. Schefter's on the phone. Before we get out of here, D-Buck, great work. Before we get out of here, we usually like to say little words of encouragement, you know. And I think the right thing to say is we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to do this for a living, but also allowing us to do this on such a magnificent scale. The fact that you guys traveled out here to help us out and to help this league announce big deals and dreams coming true, we are so eternally grateful for that.

2:51:19Pat McAfee:So thank you for giving us a chance and not mocking us. To ESPN, thank you for not counter-programming us this year. We appreciate the opportunity to be able to do this. To the NFL, thank you for being awesome. To the players, congratulations on the deals. And to the boys, hell yeah, bro. Hell yeah, you. We're back tomorrow. Let's enjoy the hell out of this life. Hey, be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me, as Dan O 'Leary. Oh, Dan. Team on me. He's not a team guy. No, he's not. Okay. Dan O, anything you say to the team? Team on three.

2:51:48Pat McAfee:One, two, three. Team. Not yet, though. We still got 20 seconds. There's 20 seconds. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Team on me.

2:51:53Dan Orlovsky:Team on me. Hey, boys, we over me. When we're together, we're great. When we're alone, we need each other. Team on three. You got it.

2:52:03Pat McAfee:One, two, three, team. Goodbye. Laura Rutledge and the team continue this lovely free agency frenzy. We'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye.

2:52:12Connor McGovern:Shot clocks, big shots, upsets, aces, TGL playoffs are here. First, Atlanta Drive starts their repeat run against Los Angeles Golf Club. Then, Rory's Boston Common Golf and Tiger's Jupiter Lynx face off in their playoff debuts. who will advance. Keep up. It's playoffs. Tune in Tuesday, March 17th at 6.30 p.m.

2:52:29Peter Schrager:and 9 p.m. only on ESPN and the ESPN app.
