0:01Pat McAfee:Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the Thunderdome, on this March Madness Eve, March 18, 2026. This program begins now. Sports! You are the greatest, and I am so incredibly lucky that last night I got a chance to enjoy, I'll say it, the greatest sporting environment that I've ever been a part of as a fan. Okay, now obviously I've gone to West Virginia games since retiring. I've gotten a chance to be a part of college game day. I'm not really in a crowd. I'm up there on a stage, so I get a chance to feel it. But as part of being at an event, at a game, at a something, in a crowd, last night was the greatest thing I've ever experienced in my life.

0:41Pat McAfee:Congratulations to the World Baseball Club. Yeah, that's right. Great work. And also, congratulations to that Venezuelan baseball team. And I'll tell you, learned a lot about Venezuela. Yeah. Yeah, I learned a lot about Venezuela. It is not the size of Rhode Island. No, no. No, it's not. No, it's big. It is. 32 million people, okay, in Venezuela. And I want to let you know, I think they might be the greatest competitors that I've ever kind of encountered. You're talking about an ability to be passionate, shit talk, while also not being like toxic or trying to fight you at the same time. It was an incredible environment.

1:18Pat McAfee:Ponche, ponche, ponche. He's going to be ringing through my ears until the day that I die. Two strikes on the board for an American in the batter's box. Well, that means the entire stadium, which was located in the United States of America. Sure. Really? I mean, that was 10-1. That was 10-1, maybe 20-1 in certain parts of that entire thing, Venezuela to America. And then the boys in the dugout are leading us things. So if it's 0-2, 1-2, full count, whatever it is, if there's two strikes on the board for the Americans, that entire place was chanting Ponche. I'd never seen that in baseball. I didn't know we had one of those.

1:53Pat McAfee:that had to be like whenever somebody's at a free throw line, you know, down in college hoops, which we're obviously about to talk about for the next couple weeks. It's like watching the pitcher have to deal with that or watching the hitter have to deal with that. And then the strikeout was just an immediate, whoo, full chaos, pandemonium. And there was a lot of them. America only got three hits. Oh, geez. America only got three hits last night. So I'll tell you, whenever I started seeing two strikes on the board, I knew what was coming. And I thought that I was at least a representative of the United States of America at the time, had an American flag tank top and an American hat on and obviously had cowboy boots on.

2:30Pat McAfee:I mean, I was doing the American life. Blue jeans. Actually, these exact blue jeans. Okay, might have slept here last night because of how late we got here. Whatever the case is. I thought I was representing. So as soon as I saw two strikes, I said, no punchy. No punchy. So then obviously everybody around us started growing louder. I told Miguel Cabrera before the game, it was an honor to meet him, watch his team just absolutely demolish baseballs in bp the contraria's brothers okay they assault baseballs they are violent with baseballs miguel cabrera though comes on over and i get a chance to meet him i go miguel hey you're you're a legend thanks for everything you've done for a sport don't eat any of your shit tonight okay america needs to win this one we need this one he goes we need to we need to win this one too you're telling me valid well good luck sir everybody was cool.

3:19Pat McAfee:Everybody was friendly. Everybody was very, very, very competitive though, which is why I think that was a magical moment last night. Obviously, not just for baseball, but for all the sports. And congratulations to Venezuela getting all the ponches. Yeah. Yes, ponche, ponche, ponche, home runche, hitche, lead in shway, Suarez shay doing his thing. I mean, there was just so many shays out there. And it was a blast. To Team USA, you know, the bats never got cracking. No, they didn't. That's just kind of what happens. But as soon as you got an entire stadium saying ponche to you it's hard not to probably lock down on you especially with the way they were pitching last night and then the defense is outrageous congratulations team usa we appreciate the run oh yeah that was fun baseball is fun last night was was incredible though i i will say that was a uh that was really good time what a great group and uh shout to ernest obviously he and i were part of uh the recruiting of logan webb on ernest's bus outside the rhyman auditorium Suarez gave an interview afterwards like, our team's a fan.

4:19Pat McAfee:We are the tightest we've ever been. I'll tell you what. It felt like the team and the stadium were all just kind of in that thing together. You did feel like you were in a buzzsaw, even though it was in the United States of America. But shout out to baseball for letting us be a part of that at all. And thank you to baseball for caring for the last couple weeks as we've been looking for things to really care about. I fell in love with that Team USA. There were some decisions that were made last night. People were going to attack D-Roke. There was a lack of hitting that has happened that people were going to attack other people on staff.

4:45Pat McAfee:But there was a magical run here that we had with Team USA. And WBC, we can't thank you enough for being fantastic. And once again, Venezuela, I didn't know you guys could do what you were doing. It was a lot of, muy bueno, I think is what I'm saying here. Yeah. Hey, muchos gracias. And then when Bryce Harper hits that two run in the eighth, that's the most jubilation I've ever felt in a public setting. okay just in a public setting the most jubilation i've ever felt just because the amount of ponches okay that have been happening all around me okay the amount of ponches and we're just right there to the left so i i mean like literally probably three probably right here is where i'm sitting okay right here is where i'm sitting so that bat flip comes right at us basically i'm up on my seat usa chant and going absolutely bananas i believe this is from foxy's view here so you'll catch a tail end of the bat flip which is historic i mean go ahead and throw that shit right there's Yeah, Connor's losing his mind.

5:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, I mean, the Venezuelans behind me talking shit. That guy with the slick back hair, his name's Chris. He was fantastic. He seemingly was a ginger from Venezuela that had a great Spanish accent. Okay, that guy had a group, a team with him there. But, yeah, we were going crazy, man. Standing up on a seat. It was, yeah, yeah, it really felt like we were in it. In the eighth inning. That's a big moment. Yeah. We had a couple pops, and we had not hit a ball yet. No. So, I mean, that was pure jubilation. And I didn't know baseball could do that. So my love story with baseball, I guess, kind of begins with World Baseball Classic.

6:15Pat McAfee:And I'll see him next World Baseball Classic. Yeah. Okay. I'm not. A couple years from now. I'm not doing that. Everybody thinks I'm giving up on baseball. How could I after what I did, like what I experienced last night? Yeah, right. I wish we could do a little bit more of that. Feels like we got to go watch games. Live. No, and also, I think we got to get passports. Oh. I think we got to go. Okay. Because I was in a Venezuelan game last night. It's like Savannah Bananas, but real baseball. You know, it was fantastic. Talks did was here at Boston Corner. Yeah, I mean. That's what it felt like in the stadium.

6:51And then we signed up together very late.

6:55Pat McAfee:Yesterday was when the decision was actually made to kind of go mid-show. Everybody kind of saw it happen. Didn't even think about America losing. Didn't even think about that. How are you on the radar? Gotta go watch America win a world championship. What are we even talking about? Head down there. Don't think about the walk afterwards. Sure, yeah. Not fun. Yeah. It's pretty late. Vamos! Yeah, yeah. Ponche, yeah, fucking. I saw it. Yeah, we did the whole thing. Yeah, that's after we lose there. Yeah. Ponche. Yeah. That's really what it was the whole night. We had so much fun. Congrats to Venezuela.

7:29Pat McAfee:We tried to get Miguel Cabrera on today. We tried to get Suarez on today. The baseball guys, right back in their training camp. Yeah. Traveling. Even if America would have won last night. Today, they're right back. Eight days to opening day, I believe. Get your ass. Yeah, opening day is about a week away. Yeah, take that off. You're never wearing it. And the silver medals. Oh, man. They were walking right towards us with their silver medals. And that thing was coming off. A couple of them kept it on. Not going to say their names. Quickest off, Mason Miller, Pittsburgh kid. He got that thing on.

7:59Pat McAfee:And as soon as it got on, he got that thing off. Everybody else there was, yeah. So he took that off right there. Everybody else was waiting to get to near dugout before taking it off. and then wrapping it up. A couple people kept it on, said, this is the greatest it's going to be. We understood that for them. We were very happy for them. But none of the boys are going to be able to ever celebrate this. Yeah. And I would like to let them know, you should. I think you did good for American baseball. And Venezuelan is a tough, that's a tough outfit to be. Especially when they got a home game in Miami.

8:26Pat McAfee:He talks to tablehead boss Conrad, Ty Schmidt, Conrad. It was sweet last night. Yeah, Venezuela's a good baseball team. I mean, we can just say they are. They are fantastic. But you mentioned the jubilation. that high of the eighth inning Bryce Harper home run followed up with the ninth inning kind of rally by the Venezuelans. Yeah, the Ponche, but also the steal into second base. Me and Foxy were standing or sitting next to a guy and his son and the son, I don't know, young kid. But once they scored this third run, he just, the waterworks start flowing and you forget like how kids who are just young fans of sports and baseball teams, like how much it truly is live or die.

9:04Like this kid was crying for the rest of the entire inning and it stinks obviously as a team rooting for usa but like that just shows you you know kind of the sports in a nutshell for some of these kids yeah

9:15Pat McAfee:not only kids i think suarez was crying a bunch of yeah a lot of the guys were winning yeah yeah i mean they were all crying as well like the professional athletes are getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars to kind of play for their team yeah i mean miguel cabrera crying out there he's coach i don't know what they're getting paid for that to coach i imagine 20 bucks yeah i I literally don't know what it is. It was a real sense of pride you could feel from every person rocking Venezuelan shit last night. And baseball delivered. I wish we would have got some hits. Since 2018, no-hitter in baseball has more go-ahead RBI in his seventh inning or later than...

9:49Pat McAfee:Eugenio. There it is. Sorry, dude. I'm trying. Ponche, I'm fucking there. I'm trying. Suarez, 54. He's always been clutch. He seemingly, I guess everybody knows he was going to get a hit there. Hits were at a very premium. last night. And if America could have got more than three, that would have been cool for the experience as well. But I don't know if the Bryce Harper moment hits as hard. We never got a guy on second base. No. We never had a guy on second base. They were playing great defense, good pitching. But that Bryce Harper moment, I think, hit harder because we didn't have anything for the entirety of those eight innings time.

10:19Yeah, and I think part of it, I mean, that in a sense makes it a tough watch, but that's what also kind of ratchets up the intensity and it kind of turns into a, oh boy, I'm going to be on the edge of my seat here, you know, starting from the third inning, because you could tell like those pitchers for Venezuela, like a lot of these guys have seen him before. He is a big leaguer, but he's not, he's not an all-star, but this event has just kind of brought out certain things. And some of these guys where they, they kind of just pitch outside themselves. I think that was a concern going in is, Hey, if they can get into the bullpen, I mean, you saw it, they had guy after guy, after guy, after guy, just throwing a hundred plus miles an hour.

10:54But I think like you said i mean yet yeah as a as a baseball fan obviously you want to see i wanted to see team usa win but mission accomplished like this this kind of did take over everything for the last 10 days or so and uh that's the best part is if you you know we're kind of on the fence about maybe wanting to watch more baseball like now the season does start a week from now so hopefully they can

11:15Pat McAfee:carry the momentum of of this event into that 7.369 million for the dominican republic game We do not know if the finals is going to be more or less than that. That Dominican game felt like it was hyped up to be the biggest of the entire thing. You know, we had Skeens pitching then. Like, I think everybody kind of understood that Dominican Republic lineup was a home run derby in of itself. I mean, it was the biggest names in sport playing there. So we do not know if the finals will end up topping that. But I think that's the biggest thing FS1's ever had. Certainly. And they couldn't move. I think there was – Family guy.

11:50Family guy.

11:50Pat McAfee:No, I think it was Simpsons. Oh, sure. So I think there is an actual thing where they're like, we couldn't move, like actually cannot move. There's something that says that, yeah, been doing this for like 30 years, telling what's featured, so maybe. Simpsons ain't fucking going anywhere. Yeah, I don't know if it was Simpsons or something. It was something that was like, hey, yeah, we get Fox. This is kind of how this goes in its entirety. But I think Fox obviously has to be thrilled with what WBC is. And I think like everybody involved should be. That was a well-run event. And last night was spectacular, Tony.

12:17Pat McAfee:You got a chance to be down there with the other half of the hammer. Done. Cowboys, Bubba Gumpino. Yeah, it was awesome. The whole environment was electric literally from the moment we stepped into the building until the moment we left. Gumps and I were a little bit higher than you guys. I now have dual citizenships with Venezuela and the U.S. Gumps has got a triple citizenship. We were surrounded by Venezuela, and they were awesome. You talked about it. There was never any ill will. Everyone was just having a good time the entire game. Everyone was chanting. It felt like a soccer environment on a World Cup stage.

12:54There was a full orchestra band. Not orchestra band. Like a high school marching band for Venezuela behind us in the section behind us. And they played the entire game. Loud. It was awesome. There was costumes. There was people dressed up as George Washington. I saw a few Venezuelans wearing Maduro t-shirts. That was fun to see. Yeah, but I also saw a lot of people saying, yeah, there was a lot of very positive.

13:23Pat McAfee:It was him. That was interesting because I feel like it was him and his Nike tech. There's what they were wearing. Yeah, you don't. Yeah, exactly. You don't really know. Right. Because who are you getting information from? They're the ones deciding the information you're getting. Right. Like that's kind of how we the world we live in now. Yeah. It's like, hey, who's deciding what information I get? Who's who's the one that gets to decide here? Because they're kind of shaping everything. And then you get in the middle of a bunch. It's like they felt they're really cool. was oh yeah very i mean the word gringo certainly just was very quickly out there i mean it sounds like that's almost a term of endearment i think it is any caucasoid that walks around i believe they are dropping gringo now we all do know how gringo started right that was like green for our money and then basically telling us to go yeah yeah yeah you agree yeah and then kind of get out of here so last night literally the people behind me hey gringo quickly and i was like yes that's literally that was my first thought yes i was like that means we could probably start bantering a little bit they asked me to take a picture of him or whatever and i was like yeah you got it and they're like thank you gringo or something i'm like oh this is sick okay i got a nickname with this group but i do know what the nickname means and i guess this is a term of endearment and then i've seen in our comments i posted boy there's a lot of this gringo this spanish spanish spanish gringo spanish spanish spanish green i'm like okay hey i would like to let you know it was an honor to be a gringo in there last night it would have been fucking great if the green team would have won that thing last night yeah you know but uh the venezuelan team I'm happy it was them.

14:45I'm very happy.

14:46Pat McAfee:They were very happy to win that. It was very, very fun, yes. And you could tell there was a lot of happy tears up there. Yeah, U.S. just, they couldn't hit, but they do have receipts. So, I do have that. Tony. Come on, Tony. We do have that. We said this. We were so bummed out. We don't want to do this, especially after what we saw on X last night for a couple specific guys, him being one of them. Judge, I mean, don't want to do it. And I'm sorry for what the internet did. Yeah, because I would like guys to want to play for America going forward. And also, they did do their job. Like, to what Ty said, I am not a, hey, let's go watch baseball today.

15:23Like, I'm super excited to watch, you know, game 15 of the Red Sox. I am now. Like, I am very excited for opening day and for kind of what baseball will do in the offseason. Tony Tony's boy, Willie Abreu, who hit the home run for Venezuela yesterday. A couple guys. Yeah, boss.

15:40Pat McAfee:An absolute bomb. Yeah, I think it was good for baseball. I think it was success. But, man, what the internet was doing to the American players. Oh, boy. It might be hard to get players to play next time. Yeah. Especially whenever you're making no money and all you can really do is get hurt. I just hope they have more fun next time. They didn't look like they were having fun. They didn't hit the ball ever. No, I mean. The hits are when the fun time happens. The hits are when I think we're pimping things, we're jumping over the thing, we're high-fiving. But I'm saying we didn't really have, we didn't hit really.

16:09Pat McAfee:We never really were just like an absolute wagon. All these teams are having so much fun. The crack of the bat happens. That bat's going into the sky, and then everybody's up over the dugout. And that just kind of carries into, I think, the rest. I don't know baseball well enough, but I think if your bats are cracking. Oh, it's contagious big time. It does feel like that is the case. And, I mean, it was also one of those things where, you know, like, it just – I think they kind of took what everyone was saying, and it was just like, okay, let's just be that then. Everyone's already killing us right now for this militant style where it's like, hey, all business.

16:45Because they knew the expectations were – they had to win. There was no other – and we saw how good a lot of these other teams are, but there was never – Venezuela's not beating the U.S. DR's not beating the U.S. Japan's not beating – that was the expectation going in. And you can see how – I mean, these guys obviously had a lot of pride in putting USA on their chest. When it gets intense like that, that is the weight of a World Series on your shoulder almost. Yeah, they had the expectation of USA basketball. They should run through everybody when it's really more like USA hockey. The teams are so level.

17:19Everyone's so good. In a hockey game, a puck bounces the wrong way, you lose. In a baseball game, if a pitcher goes unconscious like Ty was just talking about, the other team has no chance.

17:30Pat McAfee:All right, let's say it. We're a Canadian hockey team in baseball. Yeah, we were Team Canada. We had McDavid. We had fucking all of them. McKinnons. We had them all. Yeah, Benner. And then what did we do? We lost to Venezuela. Yeah. And then the Canadians thought they could start talking shit. You guys didn't win shit. Okay, what are we talking about? Why are you guys talking to me right now? Why are you in my comments talking about us losing our sport to Venezuela when we were your hockey team? First of all, we were our baseball team. That's right. That's who we were. Exactly. That's who we were.

18:03Pat McAfee:So, Gumpy, why, and I understand, and I respect the angle, being able to talk shit whenever you can talk shit, you should try to do that. So maybe more respect for the Canadians than I had before for that, but how do you guys find your way into this conversation when us in Venezuela just had an absolute classic last night in the World Baseball Classic Championship? It's America's pastime. It's your game. Okay. Let's see. I believe it's Venezuela's national sport as well. Is it really? I believe it is. Gumps was very, very pro USA last night. Yeah, I had my USA tarp on, dude. I live in this country.

18:33I love it here.

18:35Pat McAfee:I was a little bit worried about how that was going to go with you, but I do appreciate it. Those late innings, he would not sit down. Actually, no one was ever sitting down. Yeah, we stood up, too. And there was two Dominican Republic fans behind us that got tickets. So, I think there was a lot of Japanese fans there. They bought tickets because they thought Japan was going to be in the box. I think they got some really good seats. There were some really good Japanese seats. Like, we're talking front row. They got those early. Yeah, they got those really, and they all had seemingly, they were just there to get content.

19:05Pat McAfee:Yeah. I think there's probably going to be some shots coming out of some Japanese fans that were at that game last night that were outrageous. Like, where Bryce Harper threw that bat straight at, there is a line of maybe 30 Japanese people that were clearly all together having a good time, and all of them had, like, perfect 8K camera set. It was, yeah, I think last night was special. I was lucky to be there. A.J. Hawk, ladies and gentlemen, is here in the Thunder. Hawk! Paco, we kind of bodied you out of that convo strictly because you missed opening day of training camp with Team USA. And you also missed the championship with Team USA strictly because you have a life and a family and everything like that.

19:41Pat McAfee:But baseball was awesome. You played baseball in high school? Not in high school. I played all like the travel ball growing up. Played pitcher, shortstop, center field. Oh, yeah? Were you a guy out there because you hit the ball? No, I can hit the ball sometimes. I didn't face a ton of curveballs in middle school travel ball. But when I did, I struck out. Ohio people like baseball because of Cincinnati Reds? Yeah, I mean, the Reds are like one of the – they're a staple of the MLB. We know that. Okay, so is that why Ohio people like baseball? I mean, I grew up about an hour away from Cincinnati.

20:07Deion Sanders was playing on the Reds for a little bit when I was growing up. There's some, you know, huge history there. Obviously, Ken Griffey Jr. had a nice run. Charlie Hustle. I mean, Pete Rose kind of set the – Yeah, Big Red Machine. They were a – Johnny Bench. A franchise in the –

20:21Pat McAfee:Ken Griffey Jr. last night threw the opening pitch. Yes, he did. Awesome. With Miggy, right? Yeah. I just saw him admiring the swings of these guys. In BP, he's watching them. And he's just watching them hit dingers and just like in awe. I'm telling you, they were abusing baseballs in that batting practice. Crazy. We go from, we land. That'd be the best part. I think that like watching like Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds hit BP back in the day, that was like something I always wanted to do, never was able to. Yeah, so I think that's something you should think about doing. I think we're going to probably do some baseball this year.

20:51Pat McAfee:It seems like BP would be fun. BP was fun. That USA, Team USA was fun watching. because they're still figuring it out, you know, like at that stage. And then whenever you talk about like all-star break, whenever we're in there, they're middle of season. These guys are thumping. They're getting ready for it all. And then last night, I'm telling you that, those baseballs were louder than I think I've ever heard. And it was one after another. It was just piping them off the – there's a screen, I guess, in the way back. There's a screen off the wall. And these dudes were just plunking the screen. And the Contreras brothers, it was one after another.

21:25Pat McAfee:I guess they both are catchers. I'm not 100 % sure of the story. They're both talking shit, which I respected to me directly as I am saying things to them. I'm saying, hey, we don't need any of that. They're like, bench today. I'm like, good. That is good news. But they were banging these balls. And I didn't get to see, we didn't get to see Team USA. Team USA was before. But we landed, get in a sprinter van, straight in traffic. We're not moving at all. Sprinter van kind of had an interesting smell to it. Might have been a cat in there. It's not like cat piss, yeah. Yeah, it might have been a little cat running around in there.

21:54Pat McAfee:But nonetheless, comfortable seats. We get in there. We're stuck in traffic. It's a little dark in there. Can't open the windows, obviously. So it's a little dark. We get that. Doors open. All right, everybody, here we go. Boom. Right in. Right through the dugout. Right into where? Baseball. Okay. I might be at altitude at this point. Just the sensory overload that immediately happens from three minutes after we get out of that Sprinter van to bang, we're right here. This is literally probably three minutes afterwards. It's like, you're on, brother. Yeah, everybody. Hey, oh, I don't think I knew what we were walking into here.

22:26Pat McAfee:How you doing? And then all of a sudden you hear, and it's like, whoa, who's this? And it's one of the Contreras brothers killing it. Then Miguel Cabrera comes over, and then Kershaw was over there playing catch. And then Rossi came over to say hello. It was just all so cool. It was all so cool. Did you stick around to watch their celebration so then it feels that much better when we go win it again in three years? Yeah, we did stick around afterwards. Sit there and cry and be sad because I just want to know. I'm going to be out there next time. So as we were getting our silver medals, the whole team was running around from one side of the outfield to the other side of the outfield.

22:57Pat McAfee:We're going to go like this to our fans. They're maestro. And this is what was all happening. I was just kind of letting people know that what inevitably got us was Ponche, which was another strikeout. And that's how it ended. One, two, three, folks. When the whole crowd's screaming, it's going to be hard to get a hit. Let's talk about some other sports that have taken place. Interesting stuff coming out of the Max Crosby podcast. We'll certainly run a four-minute clip of that at some point today. That is an interesting dynamic, what's going on over there in Baltimore. It doesn't make Baltimore look good at all, but I guess they don't care.

23:28Pat McAfee:I guess that's just kind of how that goes. They just kind of don't care how we're allowed to do this. This is what we're going to do. Because it feels like Max Crosby would have been a very good Raven. Like, whenever you think about the fits, it's like Max Crosby would have been great for Baltimore, we think. We assume he would have been great for that style of football team and what they have been over the years. We assume what Bashadi wants, still very hard-nosed. Not Trey Hendrickson, isn't a wild talent. But for them to take a huge swing like that, send two ones, and then for something to happen, as the rest of the world has exploded about this, number one topic, Max Crosby, 2-1, number one topic.

23:58Pat McAfee:Boom, boom, boom. Everybody's talking about how awesome it is. The more we learn, it sounds like, as soon as he got in that building, he felt weird. He didn't see the GM for five hours. He just traded two ones for this guy. He's Max Crosby. I don't know. That's just very weird. And then, you know, our sources have told us that Trey was being told that he was going to be potentially if he was to go to Baltimore, because I think there's other teams involved, but if he was going to go to Baltimore, Max is going to be on the team. Max, obviously, they announced his trade. Max thinks he's going there.

24:29Pat McAfee:I assume at some point the Ravens thought they were trading for Max Crosby. It's like, when did all that happen? When did they know that they, when did the first person say, hey, maybe we should find a way out of this situation? Yeah, I don't know. And who was that person? Yeah, like was Max in the air flying there? Yeah, when you hear Max speak about it, he is very confused. But who, I guess who initially brought it up? They said one of their doctors came and said there's some issues with your knee and your scans. But to go from that to, hey, let's get out of this thing, how long was that? Well, and then the scans, are those the day he gets there?

24:59Pat McAfee:So would that be at the beginning of his trip? So he flies over there, he gets there. Like the combine. Yeah, heads to the hospital, does the scans, heads to the facility, gets the scans, whatever it is. It's like, well, why isn't the GM, the guy that just traded two ones, why aren't you meeting him there? Yeah. You know, like that is, even before, hey, you're going to go do some scans, I'll talk to you afterwards. Just wanted to say hello. That would just be like a natural, you think, for something of this magnitude. You would just think that would be the case. So him saying that that never happened, it's all very weird.

25:28Pat McAfee:And once again, it doesn't matter in like six months from now. It doesn't matter at all because Crosby's pumped to be a Raider if he's going to remain a Raider. He's excited to be there. He also saw the moves that they made. He chit-chatted about like he's watching SportsCenter, seeing everything the Raiders do. That looks like a good football team. Good job. And they got a couple ones. I mean, this is a good football team. He said he was even noticing what they were doing while still being excited with the Ravens. So whenever this ball is through, it's almost like the football gods are talking to them like, hey, go back to the Raiders.

25:58Pat McAfee:And we assume that'll be the case. And whenever they're good this year, especially with Fernando Mendoza doing his thing, it's like this won't even, this will be a blip of, hey, you remember when he was a Raven for, what, half a news cycle? Yep. And then it was completely changed. It just, it better work out in Baltimore because this looks like big-time asshole play. Yeah. No, I mean, and he mentioned it on his podcast, too. He's like, you're probably never going to get the full extent of the story from anyone. Like, we're never really going to know how this happened. But how do you get buyer's remorse like that?

26:29Because everything that, like, Elitrash has said and kind of everyone is like, hey, yeah, like, you know, he's not going to look great on a physical right now, but he's where he needs to be. So, like, they would have known that going in. I don't know. Maybe, you know, like Tony, I think, kind of said it like tongue in cheek. It was like maybe the Ravens looked at what happened during free agency where they just saw all of these guys leave and they didn't really sign anyone else. And they're like, wow, you know, now is not the right time to give away these two first-round picks. But even with the explanations we've gotten, this situation makes no more sense than it did when it first broke.

27:03Pat McAfee:Yeah, and we'd like to say, Max, congrats, it seems like. You know, this does feel like something that happens for a reason when you look back on it. And also, I believe he's six years plus sober now. He's celebrating, so probably has a lot different perspective on how it all is. And with what the Raiders did this offseason thus far, who knows what they're going to do, it feels like they're going to be a good team. And he's definitely going to be a part of it, it seems like, at this standpoint. Yeah. And then for the Ravens, what does this mean? What are you? What are they? Well, Lamar's boxing, so that's – I did see that.

27:34Pat McAfee:Yeah, that's pretty sweet. I like that Lamar Jackson's just picking up boxing right now. He's smacked Dano in the mouth. I would assume that this is day one, maybe day two of him boxing. Or maybe he's done it before. Whatever the case, I like that he's going to get ready to throw some hands. You know? And I like that he said this at the end of the workout, too. Didn't pick the best time to kind of put it in there. Because he could easily do some mitt work that makes him look unbelievable. Instead, he said, hey, I just want to show you what's actually getting done around here. Just in case you want to say that there's excuses for the Ravens in other years as opposed to this upcoming year.

28:06Pat McAfee:Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is the man that's being pictured on those mitts as Lamar Jackson's throwing those hands. The authority on NFL play for ESPN, Dan Orlovsky. Yeah, Dan Orlovsky. He's throwing those mitts, kid. He's getting a kidney, I think.

28:25I want no fight. I want no fight. No, no. I have love for Lamar. Love. I want nothing to do with fighting Lamar Jackson, dude. All right.

28:33Pat McAfee:Well, I'm just saying it seems like he says one thing to you, puts a cigarette out there and then all of a sudden he's in a boxing gym. Just saying something to think about as you, you know, what are you eating right there? You're a saibou. I don't know if that's going to do it, but you might want to start eating some grit. This is peanut butter yogurt. That sounds good. Oh, okay. I like that. Is this a protein? That's your protein alternative because you don't eat any big meals? Yeah, this is just lunch. Peanut butter yogurt, a little granola, raspberry. Okay, so do you eat meat?

29:11Yeah, I love chicken and I love steak.

29:13Pat McAfee:You love meat, dude. You love meat. Big meat guy. Yeah, you do, Dan. Let's talk about some meat. Let's talk about what's going on in the meat of the subject. What are you laughing at? Nothing. What? Where's his head at? I don't know. Good question. I think he's fantasizing right now about meat just flopping. Yeah, meat and face. Just so many different meats. Oh, give me some of that meat over here. Meat over there. Right on the forehead, baby. Let me bathe in this meat. Yeah, I understand. We had some good meat last night, actually, on that flight pack. It was like a boneless chicken thigh thing.

29:56Pat McAfee:Yeah. Yeah, it was. Some of the best meat I've ever had. Dan, you would have been, oh. You would have been doing it. It was such good meat. you know good protein in there uh let's talk about the meat of what you're into right now which is making ty simpson a top five draft pick in the nfl okay we respect that and appreciate it we saw your narrative early whenever you tried to bury fernando mendoza you found out after watching more tape bad idea shouldn't do that fernando this guy's a really good player and a really good guy he's a certified legitimized number one overall pick but let's talk about this guy from alabama who certainly had an incredible season before he got hurt and is also a Nick Saban disciple they're saying you've been high on Ty since the very early in this entire um scouting season we'll say for Dan Orlovsky what are you hearing now what are your thoughts now as you continue to dive into it all and we whenever we said don't you be saying that against Fernando we're never putting down Ty we are fans of Ty that's not what we do we we think we think Ty's a good player but it sounds like he's getting hotter in the streets if you will Dan Arlovsky.

30:57Yeah, I would tell you that my feelings on both of these players really haven't changed since the start of me watching all of their tape. I think I have two games left of Ty's. I'm done with Fernando's. Where I stand on Ty Simpson, the positives are I think he's surgical throwing like real nfl concepts down the field he's phenomenal down in the red zone when you watch him like when i watch him i see so much of brock purdy the the layered throws the intermediate game that ball that 15 20 yards down the field ball it's consistently in the right place i love how often and consistently he has to throw either between defenders or over defenders because that's real life for high-end quarterbacks in the nfl there's playmaking ability there and so like there's ownership and control of the line of scrimmage i have games pat just this i'm just being completely candid i have games when i watch of ty simpson and the wisconsin game the missouri game the vandy game the first georgia game where I think he's like the best player in the field.

32:15He carries Alabama in those football games. And they're not easy throws. They're challenging throws. They're difficult, real NFL throws. I felt that way about Jaden Daniels. And so, like, it's hard for me to dispute that. It's hard for me to not watch all those throws that are getting made in those moments. And I just am very impressed with this tape. the negatives I think one of the negatives is a very interesting conversation because the negatives are the size and the starts the size I can have a conversation about I do think it's worth talking about the college starts with guys I think your tape should matter more than how much tape you have and the amount of starts these guys get is just a different era in college football now Jalen Milrow started not in the 25 season but in the 24 season for alabama how much does nil factor into a certain guy being the starting quarterback now rather than 10 years ago 20 years ago it was like no the best player is going to play because nowadays with nil how much does oh that guy we're paying him so he's the starting quarterback um i think for a lot of these guys it's like is the best quarterback always playing at these schools or is the quarterback that has been promised the most or making the most that is playing and how is how is it going to affect some of these guys in their

33:46Pat McAfee:college starts as it moves forward yeah it's unfair if that is the way it is going which i think you are certainly speaking the truth we've seen a couple different you know uh teams tank themselves basically because the promise is made on who would be playing at the most important position on the field as opposed to maybe giving somebody else has to take at least 75 percent of starting reps if healthy because you're probably paying per game as well so he needs to be in these games if he's healthy there's a lot of that happening in college football which obviously we don't love but it does feel like the cream does rise to the top and i think ty simpson certainly did that at alabama and i think when when it comes to the starts and he might apply i think he has 15 starts if uh my number is accurate i think it's like 15 starts will certainly be held against him if he uh stinks in the nfl it'll certainly be held against him but if he comes in does really well they'll be like you know joe burrow got a late start whenever he went down lsu had one year and then he had a national championship year it's always like it's all whether or not you look mature or not on the field and when you're playing feels to me like ty is a mature player like it does feel like he is a mature player on the field off the field i think he's an incredible leader obviously sat behind so with the starts only being 15 we have certainly seen with anthony richardson here and indianapolis not having a lot of starts we've seen a downside of not having but i think you could tell if somebody's a mature football player like uh i don't want to say mature human because i think everybody has to go through life and mature i mean i got arrested when i was in the nfl and that changed my life a lot so i'm not going to judge 22 23 year olds in this entire thing but i'm talking about as football players ty simply feels like a mature football player out there because how long he's been how long he's been in the building how many reps he's probably taking practice how many everything he's done now granted he might go out there and suck and we will certainly say we should have done This guy had 15 stars.

35:26Pat McAfee:This guy had never played football. Then we're going to drop him in the NFL. But it doesn't feel like that whenever you watch him and whenever you kind of talk to him and everybody around him, you know? Yeah. One, he's the son of a coach, so I'm sure that he's been, at least in the maturity of a football world or a football player, there's got to be positives that he's carried about that. I don't know the young man. I've never spoken to him or met him. But just when you watch his tape, you're just like, dude, this. It's hard to just run from the tape. I'll continue to go back to that. It's hard to just run from you watching the throws after the throw after the throw after the throw.

36:03Honestly, you're watching Alabama. This was not a good offensive line. They get to a point where they're trying to throw the ball to a 6 '7", 350-pound offensive tackle to try to generate offense. And what do you do? Yeah, decent. Decent. piece and now Kalen DeBoer and Grubb have no brain because they're trying to be innovative. There's a ton of drops. The young superstar, Ryan Williams, I don't think played well. Cuevas is probably like the most consistent player. Jeremy Bernard was nice, but even then there's drops. I'd like to see, I wanted to see how he rebounded from some of those drops in games.

36:40I just am very impressed with his take. I've gotten to the point where, yes, I'm impressed with Fernando. I don't think Fernando for me is a no-brainer lock. I think that there are stuff in his game that is going to have to get improved for him to become a really really good player in the NFL. I will say this about...

37:01Pat McAfee:Okay, Dano, hold on. AJ's got a question for me. I just want to jump in. Yeah, what are your concerns? What do you think, I guess Fernando needs to improve? What are you going to be watching early? Is there a chance that they possibly bring in like a Flacco, Kirk Cousins, and have Fernando develop a little bit? I would love to see them have Kirk Cousins I would absolutely have a veteran there I think the things that you want to see him do more consistently because you just don't see it and I don't know if it's something that he can or can't AJ because he doesn't do it a lot on his tape is you don't see Fernando Mendoza go through progressions down the field a lot like hey one to two to three on deeper throws he does a good job of like hey i i've got a good understanding now they get a lot of man coverage because they ran so many rpos they had they saw a ton of man coverage so he saw a lot of times you can tell like i know where the ball is going before i get the snap from the quarterback like oh yep you're a man here comes this back shoulder fade or go ball or corner route and he throws it phenomenal that's why his body's in position all the time um but you don't see him go from like okay i want to launch this deep post to nope it's not there i want to get to this cross or nope i want to get backside to this end.

38:12Pat McAfee:What'd you say, Dano? I'm sorry. You just don't see him go through a lot of the dip. You just heard the talkback, I think. Did you just hear the talkback? Downfield progression. That's awesome. That's the first time you've ever heard the talkback? No, I've heard the talkback a time before. First time I've heard it with you. Oh, really? You hear them talking to me or you hear me talking to them? No, I heard you just say, I don't like the thumb down to DeRosa.

38:46Pat McAfee:It just got sent into the group. While you're giving this thing to Fernando, it just got sent into the group. DeRosa said he wants to come back and sing, and there's been two thumbs down to the group text. I wrote DeRosa and group text last night, too. You did what? Well, I didn't know a lot of the details of the decision-making with who was going to pitch when. Ignorance, yeah, of course. Yeah. somebody in the group text just sent this in and then three people put a thumbs down and I didn't like that that was happening Dan I'm thumbsing it up he needs representation sorry we didn't know you got the talk back there that's certainly something we're going to have to fix but I don't know how many other people have heard that somebody just got a peek behind the curtain on how this whole thing goes Dan we're definitely listening to you you need to know that whenever a friend of the program D-Rose get murdered I don't like that one bit.

39:40Pat McAfee:So that was a message to the entire company right there. Enough of that. That was literally buttons on my desk right here. I hit all of them to the entire company. I think there was even an announcement out there. Hey, we're not thumbs down in DeRosa like this. Sorry about that, Dan. But Fernando's the guy. We know he's the guy. Kirk Cousins and him might be perfect together. He's going to be the first pick. I just don't think, I personally don't believe the gap between Mendoza and Simpson is very big. Okay. And listen, being also honest and fair, it is an interesting exercise to try to, that's the team that should take him or that's the team that should take him.

40:17Like, yes, I think him in Arizona makes a ton of sense, but I probably think three is too rich for that. So can Arizona trade back somewhere in the middle to the 20s in the first round?

40:30Pat McAfee:Yeah, but Dan, if you like your guy, you go get him. But it's like Daniel Jeremiah just put out his most recent mock draft or whatever. I don't think he has Ty in the first round. And then I'm hearing the way you're talking about him. It's like you're definitely putting the Dan Wagon behind him a little bit. And in something that, you know, I mean, Kyler Murray was obviously massive. That was a huge deal. I guess Tua, obviously Malik was a big deal. But it's like there's not a lot of quarterbacks and you need a quarterback, especially if you're the Arizona Cardinals. Or I think you were saying to Miami Dolphins potentially need to be looking at Ty Simpson.

41:01Pat McAfee:and it's like these teams who need a quarterback, they're not listening to any PFF ranking of what these guys are. Are they a first-rounder, second-rounder? People will go get a quarterback if they like it. We've seen it before. Penix, we saw it with JJ. We've seen it with many other quarterbacks in the past. All you need is one GM to be like, that is our quarterback, and they'll pick them wherever because if they get it right, who cares? DJ's very high on the Cardinals taking Ty Simpson. Obviously not at three. He believes they could come back into the first round, so you get that fifth year of control because he feels that Ty could fit into that system very, very well.

41:35But obviously not with the third overall pick would be a little high.

41:38Pat McAfee:Okay, but if they did use it and it ended up working out, who cares? If he's your guy, it doesn't matter. Okay, so here's a question. He becomes your guy, I should say. Yeah, if he plays how many years? Eight years? That would be a success, right? Six-year quality. Good start. And this is an option. Go ahead. I also think it's interesting. You bring up Malik Willis in Miami. the reason I mentioned Miami because I do think it's a perfect schematic match with what Miami has down there with Bobby Sloick and the offense that they want to run Miami's building for 28 so like they're not in a win now and so like are they going to get everyone says at least a really good and I've talked with Daniel about this Jeremiah and I would love his thought on the whole college starts things but like everyone says you know this draft maybe isn't as high end how many players are ranked as first round picks 27 draft is going to be better and so if you're Miami and you are in this we have to figure out not only our roster their roster needs rebuilding no question but like our potential long-term quarterback you know taking him at 30 when you like the player and he's a schematic match to what you want it's if you value that person and player over whoever else you might take at 30 that's why i mentioned miami i also would mention malik willis because i remember the malik willis draft i think that was kenny pickett who was the only first round quarterback right and malik was a guy that was flirted as like a potential malik was floated as a potential first round pick um he ends up not being a first round pick and everyone's like this is a terrible class Then he just signed for$60 million.

43:19So it's like, I wonder if teams are regretting potentially not taking Malik Willis a couple years ago at the back half of the first round.

43:25Pat McAfee:Yeah, you're right. Are you okay? It seemed like you got a little caught up. Was there a little peanut butter or yogurt stuck in your mouth there in mid-sentence just a couple seconds ago? It feels like you stopped there. You just got to power through. Are you a professional or what's going on, dude? I did not stop. Maybe I – Yeah, you did. Yeah, you certainly stopped a little bit. Certainly did. Sometimes I sound – now that I know that that's possible, I mean, there's a chance that that thing's going to be happening. as Dan was wrapping up his point there, for those that don't know, I was certainly using the talkback button that I just found out goes to Dan O.

43:51Pat McAfee:And I was just going, nah, nah, nah, nah. He can continue to go. Hey, that was good professionalism, buddy. That was good professionalism. I want to let you know. Thank you for the take. But yeah, I appreciate what you're saying about Malik getting another chance, getting a chance to showcase himself and finding some people. You know, who knows how it all goes with Ty Simpson. But AJ actually has a follow-up. Did he answer your follow-up in that whole about Ty Simpson? Oh, no. Someone, Connor was asking if he has any relation to OJ. I said probably not, Conman. Okay. So I appreciate you guys getting that figured out.

44:19Pat McAfee:There's a lot of Simpsons out there. Obviously, Bart and Lisa. Yeah, Lisa. Homer. There's a lot of Simpsons out there. But Ty is mobile. They say he's an incredible leader. He can spin it. He's tough. He's very tough. I mean, he played with broken bones. We think of his ribs and everything like that. Sick. And he can move. I guess that's part of the mobile, but he can actually scoot, scoot. Saving guy, too. Yeah. So I like him. I like him a lot. And whenever, you know, the Fernando thing, you just kind of have to stand by what you said at the beginning of this thing. But, like, you know it, dude.

44:50Pat McAfee:You watched him play during those playoffs. You know it. He willed that team, dude. He, fourth and five, bro, win national championship. A mile and a half away from his home. Literally his home down there. For the Indiana Hoosiers. Yeah, but he can't see progressions down the field. The Indiana Hoosiers. If that was LSU on the side of his helmet, right there. If that was LSU on the side of his helmet, he would be a completely different animal, I think, from you and everybody from the very beginning. But I do appreciate the fact that you're saying, hey, he's a guy. Him and Signetti, perfect. The way his brain operates, the way Sig's brain operates, seemingly a perfect match.

45:26Pat McAfee:That's why the Kirk Cousins, Fernando Mendoza thing, kind of a similar vibe, whatever you do that. That'd be a great quarterback room. Obviously got to be set up for success. It seems like the Raiders are definitely doing that. Tone has a question for you, Dano. Yeah, Daniel, Titans spent a ton of money in free agency, but most of it, majority of it, was on the defensive side of the ball. They addressed that. Cam Ward coming off of the number one overall pick, they didn't really do a ton on that side of the ball. Do you think at number four they potentially go offensive, they potentially go Jeremiah Love, and how much would that help Cam Ward?

46:01I would. Okay, so the most important thing in Tennessee this year, outside of the obvious stuff, right? yes, we want to win and start to build this culture, it's like, Kim, we're taking a big second step, okay? You have Wondell Robinson. He's a really nice slot receiver. You have Calvin Ridley who, you know, Calvin's been up and down, up and down. There's been moments when he's played at a really high level, and there's been moments when he hasn't necessarily dominated. And then their leading receiver last year was a rookie. and so after free agency who's really like this dominant offensive threat in Tennessee that's going to be in lockstep with Cam Ward to try to take that big jump this year it's as much as I got a lot of love for Wandale and and Calvin it's not either of those guys and so I'm looking at Tennessee and you're going the most important thing Cam Ward to take a nice jump the best way to do that is put offensive talent around him.

47:06And that for me, I understand it's a reach with the value of the position and it's going to cost you X amount of dollars down the road. Jeremiah Love is a super... What was that? What's his name? I think he lost service. If you're the Tennessee Titans, don't overthink this. He's a great talent. He's a home run waiting to happen. I think he had 30 touchdowns at Notre Dame that went over 20 yards. I think his average touchdown traveled 26 almost 27 yards and so i i'm just going i understand that there's some defensive talent and the draft value but you know with a young quarterback and trying to put as many talented players around him on the offensive side of the football as i can this is a relatively easy decision if i'm tennessee and i would take love yeah and he ran a four three

47:57Pat McAfee:whatever and then he did all the drills and he looked outrageous and then you talk to him he's the best he is like the actual best he was on game day numerous times he told his story about having a learning disability whenever he was growing up and how his brain works and things like that and always was completely transparent with the world it was basically like i hope other people see this and learn that you know they can develop and evolve into who they want to be and it's all it's like he's this guy's awesome jeremiah love is yeah the only time they weren't awesome is when they weren't giving them the ball yeah which goes back to like the who's getting paid guaranteed what in this entire thing and that's obviously very difficult for all teams but they have the two best running backs in the draft right no damn so it's like when you have the second best running back in the draft too it's not the easiest to make sure jeremiah just gets the ball every single time but it felt like every single time jeremiah got the ball something good was happening yeah he was just spectacular and you talk about home run waiting to happen that second level third level he was right in front of us playing against indiana it was two degrees outside we were on our way to Ohio State because Tennessee was traveling in there for the first ever college football playoff game up there in South Bend.

49:02Pat McAfee:And as we were walking out, we're walking back the end zone. Notre Dame is on their own one or their two. So they're back in their own end zone. We happen to be just right behind them, literally right behind them as they hand it off. Jeremiah gets this ball eight yards in front of us, skips through a hole, and then just like switches a gear. And that's a 98 yard touchdown where he is just pulling away from everybody. And it was what? Negative whatever. And it was just like, holy shit. This one appears to be different than everything else on the field. And he got back to that form. 4-3-7 I did not expect because of how big he is.

49:36Pat McAfee:Then the drills, him participating, did not expect because he's a first-rounder, but he nailed them all. His meetings are going to be great. When people get him on tape, he's going to be great. It's like I'm seeing what you're saying, and I agree completely, Dan. Yeah, and I just – I will continue to hit the couple points of if to a man, people are saying this draft isn't just unbelievably loaded, but everyone says this guy is the best or second best player in the draft, then if you're Tennessee and you're just starting this new regime and rebuild, why don't you just add really good players to your football teams and not think of people?

50:10Also, if you play him in the slot for 50 snaps or 100 snaps next season, he's probably going to have value as a top slot receiver. He's that good of a pass catcher. I think Robert Sala, who's the new head coach, is going, wait I just watched McCaffrey do what McCaffrey does in San Francisco and just how much of a headache it is to have that guy on the field all the time why don't I want that for my offense and why would I not want that for my young quarterback because I remember Brandon being when talking to him probably three I don't know how long James Cook has been in Buffalo but three or so years ago maybe four years ago and having conversations about Josh Allen and Brandon being kept saying my job is to get as many good players around the quarterback as possible so this quarterback doesn't feel like he has to do it himself all the time and cam ward's got a little bit of that in his game we're like that's that's one of his flaws is like trying to run around and always make these plays and it's a beauty and it's but it's a fine line it's like you one of your jobs is to make sure that you get as many good players around him as possible so he doesn't feel like on second and eight at the 30 yard line down in the red zone, he's got to run around and make a play where he can just be like, oh, I'll just throw it to that dude and get 10.

51:25Pat McAfee:Yeah, I agree with everything you're saying down there. And I don't love it, but it seems like the Titans are making the right decisions, too. It seems like they're doing good stuff down there in Tennessee. Nashville is beautiful. Okay, Nashville is a beautiful city. We're obviously big fans of that place. We love what it is. We love how it is. We love the way it is. We love how close it is. We can kind of get in and get out and enjoy all the things that they have. But they're in the AFC South. We need them to be ass forever. and I don't think they're going to be. I think that is changing. And I heard, I believe Jelly told me this.

51:53Pat McAfee:He said, man, we got number one. I mean, if we can't win now, we got all the money. We got Salah and Dayball. We got a bunch of ones. If we can't do it now, we're never going to be able to do it. It's like, I love that angle. And they're getting a new stadium, I think, down there. And it's like, maybe this is the Titans time. And the new uniforms are sick. Speaking of new uniforms, Kyler Murray has one. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Dan, now that Kyler is officially a Viking, what are the expectations for him this year? I think I've seen some people still act like it's a competition. I think we know it's not.

52:26He's going to be the starting quarterback. And then do you hang on to the same kind of idea you had last year when you said if the Vikings just get average, average QB play out of J.J. McCarthy that they would go to the NFC Championship? Does the same thing apply to Kyler Murray? no i would tell you i think they're a playoff team though if they get average quarterback play um i thought that roster was a little bit underwhelming given what the expectation talent wise so but i still think it's a good football team flores is obviously great on the defensive side their offensive line has to play better it wasn't nearly as good last year as it was two years ago with sam donald um i like the kyler in minnesota thing this is i've said this from the jump this is the if it's going to work or not going to work um line of demarcation in in kevin o 'connell's offense which is the tree of the shanahans and mcveys they want the play call to be the star that they they are so good at breaking down defenses and knowing how to set things up and attack defenses they are going to more often than not get guys open they want you to consistently let the play call be the start and you just be the point guard you just be the person that delivers the ball and then three or four times you got to make a play kyler still wants to be a playmaker he still wants to be the guy give me ball in my hands i'll go make the play he has said that publicly and there's probably truth to it but there's a little of oil and water there okay like that's that's what i want to see is can kyler get to a point where he doesn't have that i gotta go be this playmaker mindset all the time and he will be the point guard and does kevin o 'connell maybe bend a little bit and allow for a little bit of freestyle play from his quarterback rather than constantly demand or desire like the in structure

54:24Pat McAfee:stuff yeah all right well we think kyler can do it right and we think all that uh video game stuff that was from years ago in a contract is all bs because we've seen what the player's report card is for arizona like we think maybe there's no chance that they were ever going to be successful over there because everything was voted f minus like do we think kyler murray maybe did check out because of how i don't want to say because it's an nfl team so i'd like to have respect seemingly bush league operation happening out there was there do you think there's a chance that Kyler maybe as a young player, always good at everything, always winning, top 10 pick in both, had to mature a little bit, and then when he looked around, he was like, I mean, what are we doing in this entire thing?

55:04Pat McAfee:I think a fresh start for him, his talent, his ability, and especially being Kevin O 'Connell, I think it's a good, I don't think I've ever come full circle on something being like a real problem like I have with Kyler Murray with Minnesota. That's how I feel at Dano. That's legitimately how I feel at this point. Yeah, I don't disagree from a talent perspective. He's tremendous. I mean, there's no debating that. I just, you know, stylistically, there's got to be a little give and take there. If that happens, then I'm with you if that happens. But I do think that's something that is difficult for just wildly talented athletic quarterbacks to kind of really try to, I don't want to say rein in, but in a way, like get control of.

55:43And I think it's hard for coaches that are used to a certain style of quarterback, you being willing to bend a little bit with what, first and 10, and I dial up a play, and it's there. I want you to hit it. I don't need you to run around and go make 15. I don't need you to. I want you to hit the check down.

56:06I like that.

56:07Pat McAfee:Sounds like a talkback just got in your face again there and just kind of made you stop. You've had a battle today a couple times. I want to let you know you did well. You're a real professional. Got one Emmy. It makes sense. It's come to the TV today. It certainly does. Thank you for bringing that championship performance to us today. Wish you would have been able to play for Team USA last night. Maybe we were on Pawn Shade so much. Yeah. Man, I would have bet so much money when Schwerber got up in the ninth that he was putting one out. Yeah. I would have. Yeah. I bet. I actually did, but it was before the game started.

56:36Pat McAfee:I emptied my account on Team USA. Before the lineup came out. We'll see you next week. We appreciate you, Dana. You're the best. Goodbye. Hey, Dana. I bet a lot of money on Team USA last night. I thought the bats were going to wake up. Turns out they want to sleep more than they've ever slept before. Ponte. Manufactured a couple runs. So many panches. I didn't know that was happening. That felt like that should have been told to me. Be a friend, tell a friend, something nice about a change of life. We're back in the next hour with Coach K.

59:00Pat McAfee:We'll be right back.

59:13Pat McAfee:before that, it certainly became a moment that I'll remember forever and cherish forever. It was really everything that I talk about sports does for people, but me getting to feel it the most that I've ever felt it in my entire life. Jumping up and down, screaming, so happy for somebody that I've only met a few different times, so happy for a team that was obviously just put together a few weeks before this, so happy for a moment to potentially happen to bring happiness to so many folks. Conman's losing his mind. The people behind him are losing his mind. We're getting a chance to go crazy. Ernest is losing his mind.

59:45Pat McAfee:Dylan, devil dog, raw, does not know who Haggard is, but he knows that Bryce Harper just hit an absolute dong-ghini there to tie this up. When we haven't had a lot of cracks of the bat, we certainly had to do our thing. Happy 40th birthday to Darius J. Butler, as he brought in the night with an L for the United States of America and a dub for Venezuela. D-Butt turned 40 today. Happy birthday, D-Butt. Happy birthday, Booch. Happy birthday, D-Butt. That was fun to get back down there. And that weather. Fantastic. It wasn't even sunny. It was just like, wow, so warm. We got home last night. I was shivering.

1:00:21Pat McAfee:Yeah, pretty cold. Left the window open. Did you? Yeah. The car was freezing. Gumpy's car was so cold. Yeah. I got in Gumpy's car and I sat down and I was shaking too bad. I couldn't push the fucking Gumpy because he had the two sides of the car thing. Only have a tank top on? Me, yeah. Tank top and jeans. Yeah. You, smart. Tony did a full, are we taking this plane back tonight? Because I'm bringing a jacket because I don't want to be caught. I always walk off those planes from Miami or wherever we are warm in a T-shirt, and it's always zero degrees when we get back, and this was the first time I learned my lesson.

1:00:55Pat McAfee:Well, you know, it was smart. And I heard you say it. I actually thought to myself, okay, fucking loser. That's what I thought to myself. And then I got off that plane, and I was sitting in Gumpy's car, and I couldn't touch the button because my body was doing this to actually warm it up a little bit. And welcome back to Indiana. It was great to be here. And football never sleeps. Baseball has been fantastic. And we're about to get into a time where we're about to bet on a bunch of things we know nothing about. The Talks of Tables here at Boston Corner and at Ty SchmidtCon, man, we're all fired up.

1:01:23Yeah, I mean, that's what it's all about. You just blindly take the teams that are underdogs. I think that is the smartest strategy. I forget what genius came up with it, but I adopted it. And it is very, very fun. To win or against the spread? You know what? I've been saying against the spread since Monday. And then I did some research two years ago. or excuse me three years ago only seven underdogs won as well and then what happened the year after ten underdogs won last year seven underdogs won what's going to happen this year maybe more and especially when you're hearing about these guys from cal baptist who are freaks of nature you know you you do a little reading on akron all of a sudden you're like hold on there might be a 12 seed that advances to the sweet 16 this year so i'm not so sure but definitely underdogs it's very Very fun.

1:02:06Pat McAfee:Ben Fox from Yahoo Sports still around. Okay. Yahoo Sports still bringing it. I think they're covering games and stuff. I think Yahoo Sports is good. Video games? Fisher Freight. Oh, okay. Shut up. I think you want to watch Fisher Freight. No shit. Live on Yahoo. It's on Yahoo.com. Yes, and The Fiddler. On the roof? Oh, good, good. I think that's a show you guys did in elementary school. Yeah, play. No, The Fiddler. The ESPN personality now is the guy. Oh, Flitzy. Michael Collins comedy? No. The goat? Watch it, dude. That's the caddy. Yeah. He's the caddy. That's the caddy, bitch. His Twitter is Michael Collins.

1:02:45Is he still carrying a bag for anybody? Yeah, it's ESPN. Tiger Woods, TGO, bitch. You tell us in the Sunday Red, dude. Yeah, are you carrying anybody's water right now?

1:02:53Pat McAfee:Seems like you are. Yeah, Tigers. You and Dan Orlovsky carrying water for people you don't know. Dan said, I never met Ty Simpson. Now, you're saying he never met Tiger. I don't think it was. I don't think that's who it was. It's who? Flitzy. Flitzy used to be on ESPN, did college football stuff for ESPN. Used to be in the band Per... ACDC? He was very good. He played at the Horseshoe, I know that. Yes, he did. They played at the Horseshoe, the band did. Oh! Goddamn, what's the name of that band? I think it was the band Perry. I think it was too. They won a bunch of awards. He's calling Fisher Freak Games now.

1:03:28Pat McAfee:I actually caught some of the clips. Flitzy is? Yes, Yahoo Sports. That's a good get. Yes, I think so too. He actually has a little bit of an internet presence. And I'll tell you what, Fisher's Freights game, from our understanding, never been to one, but we've had people that go to him. Bruce is a season ticket holder. Kind of electrifying. And the boys are on the feeder right now, I think, up there in Fisher's? Yeah, they are. JT Stokes, our best player. He plays cornerback, wide receiver, and a bit of running back. Scored the opening touchdown. We ended up winning 45-28, I believe. There was also the Quad City Steamrollers tried to throw a ball over the middle.

1:03:58Big mistake. Safety came down, laid the absolute wood. tips and overthrows, pick six the other way. Steamers are a good squad, too. Yeah, Steamers are great.

1:04:05Pat McAfee:They're out of Cleveland. The Fishers freight team. Really? Yeah. Yeah, the Steamers are right out of Cleveland. They're a good team. The Fishers freight team is unbelievable. They're legit. I'm just waiting for the UFL to start up. My boy Teddy Ginn coaching the Columbus Aviator. Good luck to them. I saw Rapol. He was on TV. He was on a football, like a punter, which I appreciated. He was holding that thing like he was about to drop that thing perfectly. I appreciate him and his excitement for spring football. So we hope that that'll be good. But what we do know will be great, March Madness. Joining us now, these guys are going to walk us through it all.

1:04:35Pat McAfee:I think he didn't know exactly what he was signing up for until about midway through his first appearance. This one, it's probably happening from Jump Street, Coach. This is how this is going to go. Ladies and gentlemen, when you talk goats, this guy's name is mentioned. Whenever you talk about college basketball, this guy's name is mentioned. 42 seasons, he was the head coach at Duke. Obviously, Team USA's coach as well has brought us multiple gold medals for us to celebrate and act as if we did something just because we were born in this country. And for that, we appreciate it. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach K.

1:05:04There you go! How you doing, Coach? Good being with you guys. You know, I'm glad you had that, well, I'm not glad the U.S. lost, but that was a hell of a moment last night. Yeah. And, yeah, just for all you football and baseball guys that are now going to enter the basketball world for the next month, understand that this is a month of moments. You had a moment last night. Moments started last night with Howard, one of my guys, advancing and the crying and whatever. And we have a chance to watch all these teams and get a chance to be in their moments. Are you kidding me? Come on, Coach. I like we're cutting promos right now for March Madness.

1:05:51I did not expect this off the jump. No, it's the best thing. And the next four days are amazing because it goes from noon to midnight. And there are games all over the country. And everyone's looking at their damn brackets and figuring out. I mean, I've been studying things for the last few hours. And the thing that I study, that you guys study something different. You study spreads. Bingo. And I don't study spreads. I just study games. So when I say if someone has a chance, I'm not saying because of the spread, okay? Just so you know, I want to make sure we're speaking the same thing.

1:06:38Pat McAfee:Yeah, you want to say I watch film, we're just hoping and praying with the number that the sports books get. I understand what you're saying. Well, I just want to let you know, that's why you're here though, okay? So you are the one who's supposed to be giving us legit information as opposed to the shit we normally give up. So that is why we're very grateful. I was trying to say that in a different way. Okay. Except the way you said it, you know your team better than I do. Maybe if we do this next week, I'll get more comfortable in just being boom and letting them have their shit too. We would like it.

1:07:13Pat McAfee:Obviously, for all the success that you've had, we are a very coachable bunch. You said the greats like to be coached. We are certainly no different. We're trying to get great. But on that note, we had just behind the curtain a little bit more. Had a FaceTime with Coach K earlier today. What did he tell us immediately, AJ? Watch the film. You're doing okay. You know, maybe do a little bit of this. And I said, Coach, we don't need to change you at all. You don't need to be changing at all. And you go, no, no, this is not about changing. This is about changing you. Well, helping you. Helping you.

1:07:41Yeah. Helping you. You guys need some help.

1:07:45Pat McAfee:Amen. Amen. Thank you, Coach. And we will take it all. So let's do a little help here. whenever we think about this March Madness setup. You know, obviously 64 teams are in this thing. And we see the moments whenever some of the smaller schools get in where the entire university, I think that one school, literally their entire university. Yeah, Queens. Queens out down in the chart. Their entire university there is celebrating and having this massive moment. And obviously it's changing the trajectory of most schools. Not this one, obviously, because they are going to be disappearing going to another school, which is obviously sad.

1:08:12Pat McAfee:We hope they figure it out. But for most schools, this is a moment that could change everything for them. They know one magical run in March could change attendance, enrollment, brand, you name it. A lot of things can happen in these moments. But I think talking to you earlier, there's an interesting kind of mindset and a headspace as you head into a tournament. Do you want to break down the two different kind of thoughts that could potentially either get you in trouble or maybe have you a chance to win this entire thing? Yeah, you know, I think there are only so many teams that go into it wanting to win the whole thing.

1:08:42You know, that we're in it until Indy on Saturday afternoon and Monday night. You know, that's where we want to be. And then there's a lot of people who, and rightfully so, there are a lot of people who are content or happy to be in it. And if they win one game, they can be even more content. however on the other side of it if you're content and you have free credit you know in other words there's no pressure on you and so if they take that approach then you might have some of those upsets that you're talking about did you feel that with some of your teams because obviously

1:09:27Pat McAfee:since 1980 and then 1991 was your first title i think after losing in 1990 1991 your first title And we talk about you obviously being expected to at least make it to the Final Four every year after that. Did you have to talk to your teams about, hey, we're playing against a team here probably that nothing to lose. Literally, them being in the tournament is just like a huge deal for them. Their families, their hometowns, their university is just excited that they're even in the dance playing against Duke. Did you have to monitor that? And do you think some of these teams that are ranked very high are doing that right now as we speak?

1:09:58Yeah, they are, because if you're that prohibitive favorite, you're playing against a team that doesn't feel any pressure. That means you better pressure them. You know, I played for one of the greatest coaches of all time in any sport, Bob Knight. And Coach Knight would say, you know, each game in the tournament is a championship game. You know, don't assume that you're going to be in the next game, no matter who you're playing, and approach each game as a championship game. And then if you get to the championship game, you've won five of them. And that's what I try to do all the time. And, you know, sometimes we got upset by Lehigh or Mercer, who played great games against us.

1:10:45And that can happen at any time, because you can assume you're going to be in the next ballgame.

1:10:54Pat McAfee:Yeah, it sounds like you're a coach all the time, though, which is why you greats are great. There's some stories popping out about you that we love to hear. Go ahead, Conman. Yeah, Coach, speaking of, you know, treating every single game as a championship game, Jason Tatum told a story about how, you know, he had a slow first half and during halftime you basically ripped him. And then he came out. Seven minutes straight, he said. Yeah, seven minutes straight speech. Comes out in the second half, scores 28, and then after the game you're like, so do I have to chew your ass out after, you know, every single bad first half to get you going a little bit?

1:11:24What is it about a player like Jason Tatum and some of those, you know, top guys that you have coached that sometimes you need to, you know, kind of go into whether it's their past, their, you know, get personal to really piss them off to get them going. You know, how often did you have to do that? And do you expect, you know, the same type of thing during the tournament for some of those great players that we know that are, you know, freshman, younger guys now? Yeah. Well, one, you don't want that story is true, but I hardly ever had to do that with Jason Tatum and the thing before you know you have to have a relationship with with the player where when he needs that because he needs he needs a good kick in the ass and and he wasn't able to give it to himself and so I gave it to him and but if you didn't have that trusting relationship.

1:12:19And that's not the way it is all the time, but it is in the moment. By the way, if you don't do it and then we lose, how good is that for Christ's sake? You know, like in other words, you, you know, we're falling, you know, we're drowning here. You know, we need, we need for you to play. We, this isn't about, you know, son, I think you can, you're going to be okay. You know, come on, man, you can't do that stuff. So yeah, and the great players didn't need it very often, but when they got it, they responded, boom, boom, boom, boom. They responded right away.

1:13:01Pat McAfee:I think the trust and the relationship even grows through those types of things, especially when it ends up being a positive. Now, if you chew him out and call him a soft-ass St. Louis kid for seven minutes at halftime, whenever you guys are in the lead and he's only had two points and he's been passing the ball and he was like i want in halftime i don't care if i have two points we're in the lead right now i'm dishing the rock and then he said he sits down and then for seven minutes you come in and just go you soft assst louis like basically just start chewing him out and he said he was getting pissed off he's like what are we talking about then i go out and have 28 points we're in the game a second half you give him a speech afterwards it's like i appreciate the fact that it ends up working out positively too so then they so tatum for the rest of his life now he's gonna be a little bit more open probably to people coaching not like he wouldn't be to begin with But like, those are pillar moments, I think, in the development of superstars, I think.

1:13:47Pat McAfee:Don't you? Yeah. And not only that, what it does for the other guys on the team. In other words, OK, they know he's got his head up his rear end for a half. And so what the hell are you going to do as a coach? And well, I better not have my head in that part of my body, you know. And the fact that you're whole, it's called accountability. You know, accountability, holding a player accountable to play up to their individual potential. And when you do that, especially with the star players who don't need it very often, it permeates through the entire team. You know, it's a big team building thing.

1:14:33Pat McAfee:Have you ever heard anybody say anything negative about his coaching either? Because, you know, we get to this new generation, and there's some people in our sport, football, they're scared to coach the new generation, especially with NIL because it's like, well, if we piss this guy off or say something wrong, he'll just go somewhere else. Every good football coach that we've talked to, Saban, Bill, you name it, threw them all. They go, the great ones want to be like, this is, that's kind of like the separator between, you can find out quickly, like if somebody's a great one or if they end up getting pissed off or not, but you still got to keep a roster though.

1:15:00Pat McAfee:You know, like you can't, was there ever a time? And do you think that that is potentially a part of, I don't want to say you stepped away early, 42 years as head coach, 1 ,202 wins. But is that a part of the reason, you think, why you felt like it was time, maybe the generational stuff that was happening? Or do you think forever the greats will want to be coached hard, especially in basketball? Yeah, I got out of it because I was 75 years old for crying out loud. You look good, though. The hair. Yeah, the hair. No, I'm 79 now. You still look good. I mean, four years ago you looked better, I think.

1:15:33Pat McAfee:But right now you look good. I still think you look good. No, the really great ones want to be held accountable. Now, I wouldn't do that at a press conference. You know, I'd do it in the intimacy of a locker room where my guys are. Like, I know it's fashionable now to let TV in and watch everything pregame and whatever. I never did that. I looked at the locker room as, that's ours, man. You know, like, get the hell out of here, you know. I mean, after the game, the press has to come there. But I would never tape a pregame speech because it's not real, you know. You're not being exactly you. And the guys in that locker room need for you to be you.

1:16:28in those moments. Those are the moments of intimacy that players and coaches have and players and teams have that develop really deep-rooted relationships. So if I was coaching today, I still would not allow that.

1:16:49Pat McAfee:Yeah, right. Social media team would have bullied you, dude. They would have walked right into Krzyzewskiville with their tents and said, we're filming everything. And you would have said, I don't think so. I don't think that's the case. No, they could film Krzyzewskiville, but not our locker room. Hey, those do get out. We don't like it, too, because we as players, you know, like I had Rich Rodriguez as my coach in college. I would say he's fiery. I would say he was a fiery individual. And before the game, he was telling us to actually go murder. Not me, you know, because I'm kicking the ball.

1:17:18Pat McAfee:But everybody else was like, hey, let's go. Hey, it is time to murder these people. Like, these people should not even be in there. And if you were to get that out of context, like who is he talking about? It's like it's a competitive sphere right now. We were trying to get into a mindset to go do something that we've been working our asses off for. But then when Kirby Smart's got out, remember somebody was reporting him from like inside a shower. And then the landing Oregon one got out like right beforehand. It is starting to become something that I don't think any of us players love. I feel kind of weird.

1:17:50Pat McAfee:Now listen, Kirby's was awesome. Yeah. But I still feel like I should not be hearing them. I think it's a very personal thing. Like you said, taking out of context, like before a huge game, it's almost like after you win a championship, like, ah, these guys have a free pass for a couple days, like in what they say and what they do. And not that they're doing anything terrible, but I think a coach, and you could probably tell us, coach, I would imagine before when you're all excited and you – I cannot imagine what's going through your head when you're trying to motivate a team. What's it like when you're in the locker room?

1:18:16Do you actually plan those things out, or is it always like off the top of your head, like when you do speak to the team before getting – Yeah, what's your style?

1:18:22Pat McAfee:Are we burying the other team, or what are we doing? No, whatever word you use, you want to beat the hell out of them. And, no, what AJ's saying, you have a plan, but then when you walk into a locker room, I try to sense the mood of the team, their eyes, their body language. There's a feel. You know that from being in locker rooms. And when the head coach walks in there, whatever you thought you were going to say, you might have to change that. Sometimes if it's too tense, you might have to have humor, you know, like just and get them talking. Because if you're too tense, a lot of times you're only talking to yourself, you've got to talk to one another.

1:19:07But I never, it was never scripted, like people will say, well, you know, What speech are you going to give? Number six or number four? That's a bunch of bullshit. There was no number. By the way, it had to be personalized for the group you have. You know, you can't do the same things over and over. It's their moment. You're in their moment, for crying out loud. That's the beauty of coaching. I get to be in the moments of these amazing young men or with the U.S. team with those guys. And it's got my practice plans from one year to the other. The second practice wasn't the same as the second practice the year before.

1:19:56You're always personalizing what the hell you're going to do.

1:19:59Pat McAfee:We have your, I believe, your itinerary for Team USA here, daily practice schedule. So it sounds like you just did this every single day. Must be nice. wow yeah just set it and repeat i guess you said it and forget it coach k basketball yeah right uh obviously anytime we get a chance to glimpse at what the greats are doing we're certainly going to do that i couldn't imagine how many of these you've had to create uh five thousand five thousand that's the thing head coach in our sport uh when you become a head coach you hear a lot of people go like i didn't expect all the stuff that was coming across the desk i assume for you guys there's a lot of logistical shit, right?

1:20:35Pat McAfee:I assume that is kind of a job of the head coach. Okay, strategy, recruiting, day-to-day scheduling. What all was under your umbrella whenever you were the head coach for Duke for 42 years? Yeah, I think that obviously recruiting is ultimate because you're not going to win without talent. And so the rapidity of the recruiting after one and done came in, we recruited Battier, who is a great player, for two years, and he gave us four years. You recruit Jason Tatum and Zion. You recruit them for two years, and they get one year. So the amount of time and the rapidity of getting those great players, that changed immensely.

1:21:20To me, I probably spent the most time in preparation, individually and collectively. Like every night before practice, I would watch tape by myself, and write up a practice plan, then meet with my staff the next day to see, you know, what reads, you know, who's going to do what, and then use it as a guide, not as the, you know, a strict plan. You know, but I wanted to make the most out of my day for my team, and I wanted to make the most out of every practice. And so I did that every night, you know, in basketball, there are about a hundred practices or so. So you do that for 47 years and U.S.

1:22:10stuff. It's about 5 ,000. I have every practice plan I've ever written. And most of them are tight, But the U.S. stuff I have in each binder, everything we did for that team written out. And then I would look back in the summer on my practices that year to see I like that. I didn't like it. Oh, I forgot about that. And, you know, that type of thing. And again, I go back to Coach Knight where he said the will to prepare to win is the most important. And he's a pretty damn smart guy. You know, he's a great coach and a genius. And that's the thing, really. And that's the thing I got tired of at 75.

1:23:02I said, you know, I'm on the road all the time recruiting and preparing. It's time. It's time to do something else. But it wasn't because of NIL and all that stuff. Because you have to keep adjusting, man. You have to keep adapting. That's the beauty of it.

1:23:19Pat McAfee:Yeah, you wanted to free your mind. Yeah, hey, I would like to free my mind of being obsessed with this, you know, for at least a part of my life. I've given a lot, I think. And you certainly did. You've given so much to sports. So we're thankful that you're getting a chance to enjoy the aftersport, just like Coach Saban. You know, because some of you coaching fucks never stop. Yeah. You know, and like you guys are just waiting for the whistle to be the one that kind of, you know. I assume that is in basketball as well, but football is that way. These guys, I'm going all on the field. That's how it is.

1:23:49Pat McAfee:There's something after life, right? Don't you think? After football? The only thing I would say, those football coaches end up sleeping in their offices. And I never did that. If I'm going to sleep, I'm going to sleep in my damn bed. I'm working my ass off. I bought a bed. I should at least go ahead and utilize that. And by the way, my wife would kill me if I did that. Talk about accountability. She holds me accountable. And my three daughters. I have four women in my life who are beautiful, and I've learned so much from them. A lot of times, reluctantly. That's a good thing, though. Sometimes the things you don't know that you need to learn are the best things to learn.

1:24:36Pat McAfee:and I assume they're learning from you as well, GOAT. I mean, that's going to happen. You mentioned the NIL not being a reason, but it is certainly a different world now. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Coach, how difficult or impactful is it now when going into the tournament? Certain coaches probably know there are a couple key contributors on their roster who are going to be hitting the transfer portal, maybe already have a new school, or in some cases, I mean, we saw Dusty May a couple years ago when they went on their run in the tournament, and it was kind of like, okay, whenever they're out, he is going to be gone.

1:25:07He goes to Michigan. How difficult is that preparing for the tournament, knowing that that is the situation when you kind of need everyone bought in for this potential month-long run here? Yeah, well, it's a great point. Obviously we saw how crazy football was, right? Wow. And they were actually leaving. Like now, there are a few coaches in the NCAA tournament that know they're not going to be at that school now. But at least it's more private than football is chaotic. I mean, I hope they can solve that with a different calendar and whatever. Nick needs to solve that.

1:25:53Pat McAfee:Yes, he does. Yes, he does. You need to start sending him some text messages telling his old ass he needs to start doing that too. He's a smart guy. But the question is a great one. And how many players are in the tournament right now? It'll be interesting. When the tournament is over, to do a study of how many guys who are on their current teams are on different teams already. Already. And when the transfer portal comes up, understand that for the last month and a half or so, agents have been talking to agents and strategizing where guys are going. And there's so much behind the scenes stuff that's going on.

1:26:45But it'll be really interesting. I'm going to try to do that.

1:26:50Pat McAfee:We'll have Hembo do it. We'll have Hembo do it. As you were saying that, I was like, this is an easy project for Hembo, who has the ability to pull all this shit. The other thing, Pat, and for you guys, how many guys actually enter the transfer portal? Stay. And how many are not picked up? More are not picked up than picked up. The ones who are picked up, probably a lot of them already know where they're going. And so this transfer portal, I think there's really good stuff, but the unintended consequence of it, one of them, is that a lot of kids lose their scholarships. They don't have a place to go.

1:27:31A lot. A lot.

1:27:34Pat McAfee:Yeah, the grass is greener, they think, you know. It turns out there's actually no grass. Yeah. But, hey, the football stuff really needs to be solved. That was not good for sport, man. I agree. I agree. Okay, I agree with what you're saying. I thought you were trying to throw rocks over here. I'm like, I just learned that you guys are going through all the same shit we're going through, it sounds like. Which is, as you were giving that answer, a lot of football people potentially watching this right now, it's like, oh, college basketball is having – your problems are mirroring our problems. Like, actually mirroring our problems.

1:28:04They're not as public. Agreed. Agreed. They're not as public.

1:28:09Pat McAfee:That Lane Kiffin stuff was crazy. And you talk about being bad for sport. I did not enjoy that at all while it was all happening. And obviously, game day was in the middle of it. Our show was in the middle of it. We know Lane. Lane's been on our show. So we're kind of in it. But it was just like, yeah, this is college football. This is what it is. And I'm like, I don't like what's happening here. I didn't like it, especially with how good their team was. Their team was so good. And then their school was so pumped to be where they were. And then all of a sudden, the entire conversation is like.

1:28:36Players getting poached from the team. Yeah, our calendar is better. Our calendar is better by far than the football calendar to at least have privacy going forward. The football calendar is really difficult, man. I don't know how they manage all that stuff.

1:28:52Pat McAfee:Well, why don't you go fix it? I think I'll stay in my way. I mean, you just said you football people need to figure this shit out. So I thought you were trying to dabble. Maybe you're trying to dance over there a little bit. No, no, I'm not doing that. I love football, and I love our guy, Manny. I thought he was gone for sure. I thought he was gone for sure. Like every year he's potentially gone, and then he's back. We did a college game day down there. I had a blast. I did not expect the fans to be. And then what is it? Everybody's hands go up. Duke, Duke. What do they say? Coach, I don't know what they say.

1:29:28DDMF.

1:29:30Pat McAfee:DDMF. More food? Duke, Duke, MF. Duke, Duke. Duke Moore Finances? Fun. Yeah, more funds. You can fill in the blanks. Yeah. Everybody's hands go up. Duke, Duke, more fun. Yeah. Is that what they're saying? Yeah. Is that what it is? You know, when I coached, I mean, they've been saying that for years. Now that I'm at games, I hear cheers that I never heard before. So, you know, I'm hearing that cheer. I said, wow. wow how long have we done that yeah and then we we have this thing with a baby you know that we it's like a baby doll that we throw up in the air and catch i said so we're using vulgar language in uh beating up a baby uh duke duke baby that's what that is crazy what was it that was your last year whenever you started yelling at him too remember that was a big deal when you go hey we like him yeah what do we do well i just thought that i thought they were on jeff capo one of my guys who was coaching at pit and i misunderstood it but i'm always gonna dive on dive on on the floor for one of my guys so uh you're bopping wood for your guys i understand you're bopping wood no i slapped the floor yeah yeah you're bopping wood we understand what you're saying let's let's talk about some of these team bopping wood here in march madness go ahead tone yeah coach two-parter if you don't mind obviously we watched last night the 11 seeds play texas wins and then another 11 seed battle tonight do you think these 11 seeds that win in the playing games have an advantage in the round of 64 against the six seeds because they've kind of maybe they've already got the nerves out they've already got their first uh game under their feet do you think they have an advantage there and then i'm not sure if you saw when texas hit the go-ahead shot with one second left one of the assistant coaches ran onto the floor what would you have done to your assistant coach if they would have done that well the very first thing is you're right i think the 11th seed in the playing game has an advantage uh and they're they're from um major you know power four conferences.

1:31:50So they've just missed. So they're accustomed to playing and they've gotten over the nerves of, of playing. They they've won. Uh, they have momentum, uh, going in. I, I, I think it's, uh, I think your point is a, it's a good one. Uh, uh, what happened when that assistant ran on the floor, man, I would have, I would have done what Sean Miller did. Like, Sean Miller just went crazy on him. You see how it... He probably did it a lot faster than I could.

1:32:22Pat McAfee:No, no, we've seen you have the juice out there. We've seen you move. We've seen you move and shake. The thing is, the assistants are supposed to be ready to make sure the players don't come out. So if the assistant comes out, what the hell's going on, man? I don't know. It might be an indicating rude on what might happen in the future but they were pumped sean reacted sean's sean's terrific and what how he reacted i think was exactly the way you should have reacted it was a phenomenal shot too i mean the madness of march has already started obviously with the conference championships and then the playing games last night and then tomorrow you know this thing really dives in we will be off tomorrow and friday as we will be doing what everybody else will be doing which is watching the madness together i cannot wait for that but i feel like something we as gamblers always realize in the first round of games go ahead aj yeah coach i'm i'm sure you are aware of this but it's been going around the internet a little bit already this year these these the basketballs seem to be wildly overinflated in these for some reason we turned on it looks like these bright orange basketballs like they change things is this a thing and is it tougher to shoot i feel like it when i'm under is what we it looks like it looks like a big rubber basketball you'd play outside with they Well, I didn't know that, but I know one year, like in the ACC tournament, they brought up new balls.

1:33:48Like, don't bring out a new ball. I think that's every year. It looks like they're doing that. I think that's recent, right? They need to be used. See, I think every conference tournament should use whatever make a ball is used in the NCAA tournament. like the ACC doesn't do that I think that's a mistake and then those balls have been used the week before or two weeks before and to have brand new balls like that I think that's not good and no settle down there you see that

1:34:32Pat McAfee:right in the cookie jar right in the cookie jar Hold it. Boom. Keep that left hand out. Don't throw him the ball. That elbow. Boom. Not bad. Not bad. Thank you. Not bad. No, don't try it. Here we go. Oh, yeah. This is it. Watch this. Don't try it. Bucket. Fuck. Glass of kind. You got another one. No, they're layups and offensive rebounds only, okay? One of those right now. How long time you can shoot? In other words, get closer to the bucket. Oh, you're on. No way. Is this closer? No, he said no way. No way. He says no way. Guys, this is Jason Tateum at halftime. You got anything else to say, bud?

1:35:17Pat McAfee:You got anything else to say? No way. Fuck it. Oh, jeez. I'll tell you what, it's overinflated ball. I have a suggestion for you. Okay. Try kicking it. Okay. Okay, Coach K. If that ball were to roll back. If you're that good of a punter, man. I'm tired. Last time I kicked the ball, I ripped my hand flex. You remember that? Kicked it out of the stadium. Kicked it out of the stadium. First time I did, I kicked it out of the stadium. They lost the screen. I jogged off, and I had blood in my leg for two months because of how it went. Coach, what is the biggest thing we should look for tomorrow, you think?

1:35:51Pat McAfee:Maybe not the balls. Guys, tight early, though, right? I think early in games, nobody really wants to mess up. That's why the underdog won't be tight. and the closer it is with the seating the tighter you can be I think there's some really outstanding games this weekend I'm interested in one of my guys Johnny Dawkins at Central Florida against UCLA and if Dent is playing or not for UCLA a lot of people are looking for the power four against the other conferences. The Midwest has some really great games. Akron against Texas Tech, I think is a fascinating game. St. Louis against Georgia. Santa Clara.

1:36:49Herb Sendak, who is one of the really, against Kentucky. I think those are really good games. In our region, TCU and Ohio State. Jamie Dixon. Who's winning that one, Coach?

1:37:04Pat McAfee:AJ Hawk would like to know who you think's winning that one. It's at noon tomorrow. I tend to think Ohio State, but Jamie Dixon is so damn good at TCU. But watch Saturday and Sunday. Because you have a chance to have, you're going to see Wisconsin and Arkansas playing the round of 32, the 4-5. Oh, high point. And Vandy and Nebraska. Vandy and Arkansas are fives, and both of them could win their regions. They are hot. Obviously, with Arkansas, they have, to me, the two best players are our guy, Cam Booser and Acuff from Arkansas. And John Calperry's done a great job with his team. and the Vandy team is hell.

1:37:57And what about another round of St. John's and Kansas? Oh, yeah. Are you kidding me? I just think they're more good games. Yeah. I'm anxious to stay, to watch these and see what the hell happens. And then if I'm not on next week, I'll give you a after watching because I'll watch these games even closer than I have.

1:38:25Pat McAfee:You'll watch them? You'll watch the games, you think? You'll actually be studying? You'll be preparing? Yeah, I'll watch as long as... I mean, I guess we're going to find out if you're good at picking games or not, though. Have you ever done this before publicly? I don't think so, right? You've never said your thoughts or opinions on how games could go. Have you done this before? I don't know. No, because I'm only concerned about my game. And the Duke game, if I'm coaching, I'm not going to go sightseeing through the NCAA tournament.

1:38:59Pat McAfee:I understand. You've got to be locked in for New York. Okay, we're excited. I'm going to watch my game and give it 100 % stuff. Even, you know, like when you go for a weekend, the favorites, the top seeds, they've got to be careful that if they're playing on Thursday or Friday, that they don't assume they're playing on Saturday and Sunday. Because a lot of times, Wehi will come up, who beat us with C.J. McCollum. Mercer, in my history, five dudes who were well-coached that kicked our butt. And I think a big part of that was we assumed that we were going to win. Yeah. And then we got our ass kicked.

1:39:45And we deserve to get it kicked. Coach I think another one Let's get one more here Maybe a pull up three Coach if this goes in I can't hear him

1:40:03Pat McAfee:If this goes in Everything you just said is accurate If it doesn't go in All shit This is the universe right here

1:40:15Oh Oh!

1:40:19Pat McAfee:Well, it ain't that nice. I guess the guy knows ball. That's what the universe is saying. Coach, we appreciate the hell out of you, man. We'll see you next week. If that didn't go in, fired for you. But we'll see you next week, I guess, because that falls there. Very impressive. Very impressive. Let's remember that for next week when you come on. And we're going to be FaceTiming you throughout our drunk March Madness things. You don't have to answer, but if you do, we'll be very grateful. By the way, you and Hawk faced my timing during my private time, my walk, and whatever, my thinking time. And it got me all screwed up, man.

1:40:54We'll do that again. We'll be trying to do that again.

1:40:57Pat McAfee:Next time you're walking, yeah. No, no, no. We hope to find that again. What time was that? We'll try to lock that in. We'll try to get the private time in there because it felt like you were in the middle of a good sesh. And then all of a sudden we popped. I was into so many good things. And then after talking to two of you guys, I started walking sideways. All right, all right, okay. Well, that might be, you know, they say age. You know, what is straight, what is not? That might be on you, maybe not on us. But we appreciate the hell out of you. Can't wait for March Madness to get started, and thank you for joining us.

1:41:26All right, see you guys. And remember, drained it. Splash.

1:41:32Pat McAfee:Got it, guys. You're the man. Ladies and gentlemen, Coach K. Yeah, Coach K.

1:42:35Pat McAfee:Of course, by the way, the universe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, listen, bud, you haven't made a shot in two months, but this is Coach Kroos. I mean, don't sleep on Northern Iowa now, though. He did make a couple picks there. Yeah, same with high point. High point people really like. He didn't like any upsets. Does he ever fill a bracket out? Yeah, every year. I doubt it. I don't think so. He just writes Duke in every single game. That's kind of what I do. I did FaceTime him because it was agreed that he was going to be coming on on this Wednesday. But I was like, we haven't talked to him since literally being live.

1:43:05Pat McAfee:Should just FaceTime him. And cold FaceTimes are some of the fun, really, of my life at this stage. You got one the other day. You had to hit one because you got a text. Who? Nope. No, about going up to do someone's show up north for a basketball player. Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah. That was one of the greatest. Yeah, good call. Yeah, good call. We will not talk about that because it has a potential huge surprise. But, yeah, random text message. Think it's a catfish. Check with McAfee. Is this a fake number? Yeah. No, it is not. Okay, let's do a cold FaceTime. But, yeah, Coach K was in the middle of his workout.

1:43:36Pat McAfee:So I guess he still is a very active person. He was in the middle of his walk. I don't know if it was a warm-up before he was about to get after it in the gym. But you could tell, like, when he answered it, it was like, I don't – he felt obligated to answer it, maybe? Yeah, who died? Yeah, maybe one of them. That happens sometimes, like, if I call my mom and she's like, what's wrong? Yeah, exactly. I guess I should call you more. But, boy, it wasn't just a – this was not going to be like a 30-seconder. Settle in, Coach. We're here for a break. He was awesome, though. Like, it was a beautiful day out.

1:44:04Was he walking on campus? I think so, yeah.

1:44:06Pat McAfee:I think he's walking around like actually Krzyzewski. He lives in the Raptors. Walk around a couple of Cameron, yeah. Have any of you guys ever been there? Yes, I have. Thank you. To the arena? With the crazies? It's awesome to watch, but it's only seats like 4 ,000 or something. I bet it's the best place ever in LA. Yeah, their fans love it. Like, they're just kind of like, that's a part of it, right? They showed up for game day. Yeah. It was very much like, I think the basketball crowd just showed up for game day. They showed up. and I know game day goes there for basketball a lot, but for football, them showing up the way they did, it was a surprise.

1:44:38Pat McAfee:It was a mighty surprise. Them winning the ACC. Yeah, and then ruining the entire college football playoff. Basically, not ruining, I'm sorry, but throwing the entire college football playoff thing into hell because Manny's able to win that thing. Okay, let's talk about some stories around our football world. The NFL has agreed with the greatest catch-up company on earth that if the NFL's happening, it's going to be Heinz ketchup. So the way it was kind of being reported by Mike Floria's pro football talk is like, hey, this is just another deal the NFL makes that is just kind of good for them.

1:45:10Pat McAfee:And Mike Floria knows this because he's from West Virginia. He's from the area. Mike, Roger Goodell walked into a stadium. They had some shitty-ass ketchup in there. Probably we've seen these before. Red Gold's an Indiana company, so I apologize. I appreciate you guys doing what you're doing. But on that note, if I'm seeing that on anything where I go, I'm not happy

1:45:32Pat McAfee:I'm maybe covering it just as I spray it just covering the whole name I piss in the bottles it'll make it taste better you might as well spit on it if you see that you should not do that I've been eating a lot of pineapple okay I don't think that has to do that's your semen yeah I think that's I think that's a different I think that's a different flavor but on that note if Roger Goodell walked into a stadium there was some sort of ketchup that was not Heinz ketchup and he said I'm not doing this ever again somebody needs to change this so boom they change it from our understanding I did not read all the ins and outs of the deal but I know that everything that I do needs to make a similar deal I need the Tropical Smoothie Cafe right down the street right here to make the same deal okay I need the breakfast pancakes place right down Lincoln right down here.

1:46:26Pat McAfee:Yeah, like square. I need them to negotiate everywhere that I go. Like what seemingly Roger Goodell did here. Everywhere I go, I need to have Heinz catch up. We would like to negotiate, or we would like Heinz to negotiate those deals with everything we do as well. We like this move. Yeah, I believe it's also international. So I assume he might have gone to a... Oh, my God, the shite catch up over there. Germany or England, you know, England beans and mash, whatever they catch up, they put with that is probably absolute poop. So once he saw that, he said, hey, I need to bring the Heinz, the Pittsburgh ketchup to the rest of the world, not just the country.

1:46:58Pat McAfee:And congrats to everybody. This is a win for everybody. Australia, they're getting Heinz. You're welcome. And congrats to Ireland. They're going to be getting Heinz. You're welcome. Ireland needs ranch. Funny you mention that because it's not just ketchup. They are actually – it's Heinz's entire family of condiments. So if you want – They do. Mustard, relish, literally anything. The whole kick caboodle is what they signed the deal for. Heinz is about to make a bazillion dollars in Ireland. Yeah. Did you ever wonder why there's any other ketchup companies? I understand why there's multiple pop companies and stuff like that or multiple mayonnaise companies.

1:47:31Why do any other ketchup companies even exist?

1:47:34Pat McAfee:I would assume because they tasted the nectar from Heinz, and they said, wow, this is the stuff. And if you could put something on anything and make it better, like salt, you would like to capture that. Heinz did that. These other people say, we like you so much, we're going to try to make a brand that can maybe be much cheaper and get into places. And shitter. Yeah, and people that don't know Heinz might think that this is actually what it is. And then all of a sudden, people from Pittsburgh who put Heinz on everything get to their town, and it rolls out. And they go, it's catsup. And I go, get out of my fucking face.

1:48:08Please.

1:48:09Pat McAfee:You spell it wrong. Yeah, exactly. I can't do it. What about McDonald's? What do they use? Because they're little... Heinz. They use Heinz. They put in the little... Back in the day, that's legit. Yeah, and then you put it in front of your fingers, right? You put them in front of your fingers. What do you mean? The fries. You get the little ketchup thing, the little paper cup. You fill that up, obviously, and then you put them in between your fingers. Then you show up with six of them things right here. Look at how much ketchup I got. Who wants them? You didn't do that? I don't think I did that.

1:48:35Pat McAfee:Oh, so you got chicken nuggets at McDonald's and only had one of those little things? No. I would grab a bunch of them and just put them in my hands like this. No, yeah, but probably because your fingies can't connect the dots. Yeah, I don't know if I can spread my fingies far enough apart, but I definitely am dipping my nugs in ketchup, yeah. Yeah, definitely. The nugs and the fries are definitely. I don't eat ketchup on fries, but yeah, nugs I will. What? No. Never? You're raw dog and fries? Oh, yeah. I don't hate it, but I won't do it. McDonald's fries are good enough to go without the ketchup, but to never do it.

1:49:00I don't even know why we do. Never say never. I have.

1:49:04Pat McAfee:You're a psychopath. Yeah, but you don't like ketchup because. No, no. I love ketchup. I mean, hamburger. No, you don't. No, you don't. You don't love it like we do. I don't like roast. All right, let's move along, please. More NFL news. A tight end out of Notre Dame was signed to the Indianapolis Colts. Congrats, guys. Yeah. This is Carson Tott. He played basketball his whole life, but they think his style of play and his build could bode well to him potentially transitioning to tight end. We have Mo Alley-Cox. I believe he played for VCU, if I'm not mistaken, had a great basketball run, came over here.

1:49:34Pat McAfee:We've had a train of tight ends that have played hoops that have come through Indianapolis, and obviously the NFL has seen a lot of hoopers transition into the tight end role. Antonio Gates is like the easiest one to kind of point as, a massive success story out of Kent State, but the body type, the athleticism, the ability to catch and box out, the only issue is can they block, can they get physical. They're saying that out here, and just by looking at him, I'm thinking he might be able to get a little physical out there, A.J. Hawking. I'm thinking he can't too, but the fact that he's never played football at any level, that's a bit surprising to me.

1:50:05I know he's a freak athlete. He's a very physical dude. They're not going to take a shot on him if he doesn't have a chance. I hope he makes the team. Jimmy Graham, another one.

1:50:13Pat McAfee:Yeah, there's a lot of questions. Jimmy played football, but he's just a really good basketball player. But how did we immediately get to just sign him, too? Like, he's out of college? They had to be kicking the tires for a while. They've been thinking about this. Doesn't he have to go through the draft? Great question. If he didn't play, I guess he doesn't have to go through it. I think they were like, if a team is so desperate, we'll just let them do this. Desperation is not what made this decision. This is a fucking talent. What if he said that, though? Hey, I don't want to sign because what if I get drafted?

1:50:36I mean, he's got a point. This does kind of reek of desperation. Is this guy taking Tyler Warren's spot? Huh? Taking Bo's spot? It sounds like this is just a, hey, let's stir up some hype. Let's get some people excited. That's not what the Colts are doing. Let's get Northern Indiana pumped about the season.

1:50:52Pat McAfee:Why, because they're getting the Bears in a couple years? Let's win over the Notre Dame fans. How can Taut sign without going through the draft process? Let's ask an AI. The NFL is different than the NBA. For the NFL, if a person has never played college football but is at least three years removed from his high school graduation date, that person can sign with any NFL team willing to do so. And no one else was going to sign him, obviously. They're not that dumb. Yeah, right. If he would have came through the combine, they're saying 28 out of 32 had him on board. That's right. Really? Just like a board, like, hey, this would be a good story for us, too?

1:51:21What's that? I think he went to the combine, but he talked. He spoke to people. I don't think he actually partook.

1:51:26Pat McAfee:Teams have called the Miami Dolphins to inquire about trading for running back Devon Achan. They've been told that he is not available. We're done with this, what you guys are doing here with the Colts. This is a big move. Ballard is thinking about the future. He's 6 '8". Think about it. Johnny Dot? What's his name? Carson Dot. Tout. Tout. Tout. Tout. Carson Dot. Tyler Warren's going to chew this guy up and spit him out in practice. They're teammates. They're teammates. And he's going to say, oh, big basketball guy, huh? Welcome to football, man. Just wait until we're going 13 personnel. Tyler Warren.

1:51:57Pat McAfee:Mo Ali Cox. Dot. Jonathan Taylor. Fucking Dana 2. Daniel. Second and eight, brother. Let's see what we can put together now. The Miami Dolphins are in a mass exodus. This running back Devon H-Han will not be a part of that is what has been said. People are on TV this morning saying that their sources are indicating that Miami is willing to hang on to him, and they view him as a massive piece for the future. Gumpy, does that make you happy or sad? And will you buy his jersey because every other jersey you own has been shipped out the door? There's an H-Han jersey hanging in my locker, so we're good to go.

1:52:28I love that they're keeping him. There was a clip of Sully when he first joined the Dolphins. He said he wanted to build around a few guys. He didn't mention Waddle. He said Brooks, Brewer, Patrick, Paul, and HN. So at least we're keeping some of our guys.

1:52:43Pat McAfee:Yeah, I like that you're keeping some of your guys. I also like the fact that Miami Dolphins aren't scheduled to win until 2028, says Dan Rollins. We've got$127 million in cap space next year. You're talking about next year like? Following this one. Okay, because this one would be considered next one. Okay, well, 2026 is over. 2027. Yeah, 2028 is a bit far. They're on 2027. Yeah. Okay, so Orlovsky's actually – We're on the clock. I appreciate that. Congratulations to you guys, and good luck to Malik Willis. You finally did it. That's right. You got an opportunity to be the guy at a place, and there'll be good players down there for sure somewhere.

1:53:18Pat McAfee:It's the NFL. Yeah. It's the NFL. There'll be good players. And maybe Halfley is able to motivate the boys and get some wins down there for Miami. After being down there, I'll tell you, I can see how people would definitely get bored with the Dolphins if they're not good. Sure. I can see how there'd be other stuff to do. Hopefully that doesn't happen. and hopefully the Dolphins can continue to be$12.5 billion property and maybe even win some games. We appreciate everybody so much for allowing us to do this for a living. The next two days, we'll be off for March Madness alongside everybody. Con, man, this is a special time for the program.

1:53:49Pat McAfee:We started this when? Last year? Yeah, last year, first year. This was a good move. Great move. This was a good move. Yeah. Yeah, so look for IG stories tomorrow to be popping. We're learning. Is the thing. Because before last year, we didn't really know it, but we just did the worst show of the year because we'd put a TV right here and just watch the game anyway. And then every once in a while, kind of just be like, oh, oh, oh. But we would stack it with guests. Yeah. And obviously, we would tell the guests ahead of time, hey, we're watching the game. Yeah, so just go. We need you to just – we'll ask you a question.

1:54:18Pat McAfee:You do your thing. You'll hear us respond in the background. Something happened in the game. We will stop you. We will update the game. Then we will try to reload you. Thanks, Lambo. Miss you, Lambo. Lambo did that. I think Van Noy did that for us a couple times. He just signed with Yahoo. Did he? Yeah. Van Noy? Van Yaw? He's calling freight games? No, I think he's doing some content for them of some sort, maybe a podcast. We would love to have Van Noy back in the building. I think it's on me. I didn't text him after the – Well, he still doesn't know if he's going to play yet. He said he's waiting, you know.

1:54:49Pat McAfee:After the draft, someone will probably sign him. But what if the Ravens do the whole Max Crosby thing? They could. Yeah, come on in, Kyle. Come on, put you on the practice squad. And then when he meets Minter, Minter's just looking around and not – Yeah, Max Rosamy said, I dapped up the coach for four hours in, five hours in. It was sweet to go meet him. Weird energy. Yeah. Just kind of looked at me. I was like, oh, okay, this guy's a weirdo, I guess. That's going to be cool. It'll get a little different. Baragatze, man. Just traded two ones for this guy. This guy thinks there's maybe a Laramie Tunzel situation.

1:55:18Pat McAfee:You guys just traded two ones. He's your franchise player. Oh, my God. Here we go. This is a big deal. He gets there. Put him in a fucking room. I don't want anybody to see him. What's going on? I'm here at my family. Can I meet the GM? Later. What the hell's going on here? Get me out of here. The Raiders are making plays. We'll see you on Monday. Be a friend, tell your friends. Have a nice change of life. Goodbye. One of those was off. The bottom of the clock. I don't know what it was. There's going to be some of that this weekend in March Madness. Clock off? Yeah. Someone gets the ball in maybe half a second.

1:55:50Pat McAfee:How did Coach K not know that the balls are bad? Because he doesn't think about it. No excuses. Yeah. He's all about his balls. Do you think he wants to hear about a fucking ball that both teams are playing with not being shootable? Yeah, right. It's a real thing. I remember a couple years. I don't know how many years, how long it's been going on. It was last year. It was a big problem. It looked super orange. It was brighter than normal. And you see this clip. I mean, that is not normal at all. What's that? I was watching you span through the window. You nailed it. Okay, sick. You went off at zero.

1:56:15Oh, good. Oh, so on the screen, it zeroed hit? Yeah.

1:56:18Pat McAfee:Okay, so that's close. That was the second one. We'd have a team win 32 to 30 tonight or something with these stupid balls. No. So team ride the night. I need to get back. Actually, I have no money in my account. Take Miami over. How come you don't have any money in your account? I spent a lot on TBSA last night. Who let you down specifically from that team, would you say? Every one of them. We can't do this, gentlemen. We like baseball. We like these boys. I agree. Okay? I don't want to do this. It just felt like. If it was a series, we win. That's why the World Series isn't part of the joke.

1:56:46That one hit.

1:56:47Pat McAfee:People are saying that maybe the team thought it was a best of three. A lot of people say. DeRosa was saying post-game, no big deal. We'll get him tomorrow. I didn't like that. We didn't like that. So where's DeRosa go now? Back to his show? MLB Network. To his shanty. I hope. D-Row. Hit the beach, brother. We love you, dude. They were trying to fire him. Bring him back for the playoffs. Give him the regular season off. Everybody in baseball was trying to seemingly fire. He does. I'll tell you what. I never. This is something that needs to be talked about. I never in my entire life book a non-military member.

1:57:27Pat McAfee:Okay. Let me sanction that. I've never seen a non-military member look fucking better for the national anthem. That's D-Row. Wait. Can you show us? D-Row had hat. What are you laughing about? I've actually got it. Come on, fellas. He had, I'm telling you, hat perfectly, like the brim of the hat around here over chest. And I don't think the fucker blinked for the entire sense. O all the way to E at the end. I don't think he blinked one time. And they had a jib working around his face, and it was on the big jumbotron. He was right in front of me. And he couldn't help but just say, Holy fuck, Skip looks good, Rudy.

1:58:07Pat McAfee:You know, he looks confident. He didn't blink. Yeah, I watched a YouTube video before the game how to do the national anthem. Well, good. I think you nailed it. Yeah. You got it. Venezuela's national anthem. I'll tell you what, it's like seven minutes long. Is it a more upbeat? Yeah, they sing. It ends on my go, whoo! It was so much fun, dude. It was ten minutes long. It had to be, you know, because I've seen, I think it was, who's Sprinter from Jamaica? Did you say Bolt? I think it was Bolt at one of the Olympic events where the United States of America National Anthem plays. He's in the middle of an interview, and he says, the National Anthem is on right now, so I'm going to stop.

1:58:44Pat McAfee:And he stopped and did this, and then he went back to the interview or whatever. And I remember making its way around the internet, like, this is how somebody from another country is showcasing our National Anthem versus everything else that was happening at the time or whatever. So as Venezuela is about to play the National Anthem, I'm thinking, like, oh, I'm that fucking guy right now. Like, let's show some fucking respect here. stand up take the hat off do the entire thing and then it starts and i'm like oh it's an interesting vibe and then it's like 90 seconds i'm like they're seemingly nowhere near the end of this thing and they every word every word howling the whole place i mean it was you couldn't help it and then national anthem follows that it's like we got a 75 second little fucking instrumental about to take place boys were all lip lip syncing who i saw well d-ro who which boys There better be a photo of D-Row for that national.

1:59:32I saw the internet was saying they were surprised that Team USA didn't play in fatigues and combat boots. Why do you say that?

1:59:39Pat McAfee:Because Mikuya talked to him before Dominican Republic. And guess what? Mikuya won. Okay? Who did speak to Team USA last night? We'll never know. They just watched Zero Dark Thirty. And then just hit the field. It's a good movie. They should have been watching the Pacers. Is that what they call them? Yeah. That was his nickname? The Pacers or something like that? Yeah. You didn't see the movie. You don't know how Ben Laden died? We're talking about Mikuya. Oh, okay, yeah. You don't know shit about Mikuya. You support the troops? Oh, no. That's what it sounds like. Yeah. Wow, it's weird. I won't even respond to that question, but yeah.

2:00:13Yeah, the pacer. Oh, from Zero Dark Thirty, yeah. The redhead girl. She's the CIA lady. Yeah. Oh, this guy is no fucking guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I met Mikuya. Rob O 'Neill, sorry. It's Mikuya. About a month before he went. It's about a McDonald's item. First time I'm going to sign his name. You pronounce the cattle letters in McHouya. His Twitter handle you're talking about. McHouya? What the hell's wrong with you? What? Are you okay? Can you go back, please? Can you tell us about meeting McHouya? He came to Green Bay about a month before he went public saying, hey, I shot that guy in the head.

2:00:51You spit in his face? No, not at all. But he said, because our one trainer said, hey, I'm pretty sure this is a guy that got Bin Laden. and I talked to him. He was great. And he said, I asked him, like, what do you got going on? He goes, I got something pretty big coming up here in a little bit, about a couple weeks. And then I'll be doing some more after that. I'm like, okay. And then, boom, he went public.

2:01:09Pat McAfee:Yeah, and I think every other branch of the military will say, of course, the Navy SEAL wants everybody to know. Oh, yeah, there's all kind of infighting. Yeah, there's a lot of that. And I think he probably knew that was going to happen when it was coming. But I think somebody else was also getting credit for it at some point. And then, you know, so, and I assume there are people like, hey, somebody's going to get credit for this. If it was actually you, somebody else has already taken it, so maybe you should think about it. And then as soon as you do that, then you become the guy that wanted to get the credit for something.

2:01:32Pat McAfee:And then the military people get mad at you. But then it's also an incredibly inspirational story about execution and how you kind of go actual, but also preparation too. How they practiced on like the mock-up building here. That's what I thought was cool. These guys aren't just rolling in there. No. They precise. And then helicopter crashes. Like it's pretty crazy. So he's from Montana. I do believe Butte. I believe he's from Butte, Montana. and that's where Colt Anderson, the Montanimal, the original Montanimal is from. And he was down at a Miami Dolphins game, I think Mikuya was, probably something similar talking to you.

2:02:02Pat McAfee:And then Colt introduced me to him. This was before it all came out. I guess he had two bullets tattooed somewhere. Oh, he did. Yeah. It was like, hey, go ask him about what those are. Colt was like wanting to tell me. He was like, I can't tell you, but you need to go ask him. I never got a chance to, and then we would find out later. I thought John Cena was taking credit for that. Well, he announced it. We fucking got him. That was May 1st. My birthday's May 2nd. We had a hell of a time. We did get him. John Cena and I had a good time with that. Ladies and gentlemen. We killed him. Caught. We got him.

2:02:35Pat McAfee:Compromised to a permanent end. How about him running back in? Yeah. Perfection. Before you get out of here tonight, how about Vince McMahon going? Cena. Yeah. Go. Go. It's you, right? You have all the chaos. I'm not going to announce it. You want me to do it or the Marine? Get out there. You're right. I'll fucking, this is the biggest. A lot of people learned. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. John Cena. Credit. Go run, Cena. He's not, he hasn't come back? He's never coming back. I know he said, yeah, he said. One question is integrity. The guy announced it. Why don't you just call him a liar? You guys won't even let me do it.

2:03:10Call him a liar.

2:03:11Pat McAfee:Go ahead. Just call him a liar. I didn't call him a liar. I'm asking. I asked him that question, and then he said, I really appreciate you questioning my integrity right here. You really think I'm a piece of garbage, huh? Oh, my God. I was like, wow, that's an incredible angle. You just flipped that on me. John, I thought it was a little bit of a character as well. I don't want to pick the bracket. You want to pick the bracket? Sure. Fuck. He just said he didn't want to. Let's take a break. We'll be back on the other side picking AJ's private time. Like in my private time when I pick a bracket for you.

2:03:36I didn't mean now. Well, I got no sense. Just do the first round. Don't have to do full thing. Just first round. Or maybe just your final four. What? You guys have the same winner. I asked him before. Give me the J-Will. Yeah. I'll take the J-Will. I also have the J-Will. I'd take Duke winning since I've been like eight years old.

2:03:56Pat McAfee:No, no, you're doing that this year because it's fucking number one ever seed. So sweet. Just say you don't know anything about ball. They're always number one. I don't know a whole lot about college ball. I'm not going to lie. I don't either. Thank God I lost all my money on baseball I don't know about last night, so I can't do it again for March Madness tomorrow. Actually, it feels like I'm staring down another deposit. Reload. Reload. Try the Dow. They're going to send me that video again. Hey, dipshit. You sure? You can actually fucking publicly exclude yourself from this company for 10 years if you'd like to do that.

2:04:27Pat McAfee:Just press this button right now. Say, hey, DraftKings, I appreciate you taking the steps to protect me from me, okay? The bats were supposed to get hot. They were, and they didn't. They had to waste so much money, DraftKings, off of all of that. Historically bad night for bats, by the way. Why'd the guy wearing the Jack Hughes tarp not start? let's get that guy's fucking puck too yeah guy still doesn't have teeth I know for America give it back Canada why did Gunnar Henderson that start he got a bat late he looked good yeah well I heard there's a lefty righty thing I'm like well what about just being in his own skip and then you hear like well why didn't Mason Miller come in at the end Grim Reaper and he's like well I wasn't fucking allowed to and they're like okay fair enough nobody's really thinking about what teams are telling old D-Row literally probably in his ear while he's sitting in the dugout like, don't you even, hey, no, no.

2:05:21Pat McAfee:We gave you two innings last week. We are not doing this again. Oh, nice. You want to win the World Baseball Classic? We just traded our entire fucking farm system for this guy. He's not pitching tonight. Can I get nine pitches? No. No pitches. And don't fucking ask me again. And also, we're not telling anybody we're saying that. So you're going to have to eat all the shit. That's D-Row baseball. That is what D-Row has been dodging through here. That would be terrible. And D-Row said I'd like to do it again And then we got thumbs down happening Who? Who thumbs it down? I saw a couple Foxy did Who do you want in there, Foxy?

2:05:53In iMessage I wish you had a function where you could go Two thumbs down They should have that And AJ, to answer your question Who do I want in there? Bam, this guy, Jim Leland The only guy

2:06:07Pat McAfee:The only guy to ever win it for America Yeah, either Jim Leland or Sean Casey? Well, if Jim Leland's in, Sean Casey will. And on that note... You're right. You kept him up a little bit late telling stories. You're right. I don't know. If he was the manager... I think he's good for the team morale. Agreed. And Sean Casey will operate how he is told to operate. Hey, need to win the game tomorrow. Let's get the stories of resilience out here about 3, 4 a.m. He got his orders. You know what I mean? As opposed to big pop celebratory stories, which I assume he told the John Cena story. Yeah. Okay. Sean Casey's John and seeing a story is one of the greatest of all time.

2:06:43Pat McAfee:One of the greatest of all time. I assume that got a huge pop out of the boys, and then that immediately follows up to, oh, there's one time I was Jim Leal. Can you imagine him bopping around the room, tapping guys on the shoulder, like they're all sitting down, and he's standing up in the middle of them? And they're all like, we're in, we're in, we're in. And Sean Casey's like, I got another we're in story, hold on. And then he goes in, you know. So that was probably what it was. And they were having beers and pops, and D-Ro says, in the room, it's just the most important thing in their life.

2:07:08They must have different rules for the World Baseball Classic because that's why a lot of old savvy vets are pissed that they took booze out of the clubhouse in the major leagues. I don't think they did it for the World Baseball Classic, you're saying. You said they were boozing in the – Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying. They had rules.

2:07:21Pat McAfee:I think there's some players that are still boozing pretty good at the clubhouse. They used to, like, provide it and let them – but then, of course, someone got a DUI or got in trouble and they took it out of the clubhouse. Oh, that's like NFL planes. Yeah. NFL planes. Three beers used to be in all – when I first got on, they'd throw – three beers in each seat on the airplane. It took away right before I got – Ice cold beers? Were they in a cooler? Ice cold in a bag, they said. Some guys are like, that's great because there's all these guys that don't drink, so I got 40 of them. Yeah, just grabbing bags.

2:07:47Pat McAfee:I was, my rookie year, I had to bring a cartoon-sized bottle of whiskey every week. That was kind of what I had to do. Did you have to sneak it? I mean, probably. I don't know. I watched Blow so many times, George Young. We put the fucker right at the bottom of it. We got a false bottom. We put a T-shirt over the top of that thing. We put pants over the top of that thing. There's other stuff probably in there as well. But yeah, I had to bring that every single time. and then I would hand it off. They definitely have new flight attendants at this time. Shout out to that OG flight attendant crew.

2:08:14Pat McAfee:I don't know if you're still watching or not, but you were a fucking. Yep, that was the thing. There were some road dogs in that flight attendant crew. Immediately upon getting there, straight to the flight attendants, flight attendants would then take it to the back where the beers were and everything like that. Some other rookie was bringing the beers. Then they would have that entire thing set up for a trip back home, you know? So then whenever we would get on to head back home, it was like literally you're just walking into a fucking. There was already music on the fucking phone thing playing.

2:08:36Pat McAfee:And it was like the moment. Like, hey, we won a game on the road. So I lift all them weights? This is what we are here. Those planes were the greatest. I mean, those are some of the best times I've ever had in my entire life, I think. And, yeah, then, you know, I guess at some point, people got to get from airport to home, though. Yeah. And not everybody sets up cars. You know, a lot of cars were being set up for a lot of people. Before Uber. But then, yes. So, and also the OGs of the team were setting up cars for people. You know, like, hey, this is going to happen. Freeney set up a couple cars for me.

2:09:05Pat McAfee:Very thankful for him. because he kind of gave me the game. I was playing in a card game with him on the plane for M &Ms, maybe thousands and thousands and thousands of M &Ms at that time, peanut butter, peanut M &Ms, very good. And booze him pretty heavy. Booze him pretty good. And then, like, you know, Franey does an immediate, like, hey, how are you getting home? It's like, ah, there's a car out there somewhere. I'm whipping it. He's like, absolutely not. You are not. And I'm like, cool. It's a good team. That was like a part of it, though. That felt like that was kind of a part of it. and then I think some places didn't have that and I think there was guys some people have long commutes home yes and not in India I'm talking about any NFL as a whole like India was like very much like because obviously we got cops on a plane too so they all kind of understand and there's drivers waiting outside and it's like hey everybody kind of understands what's happening and then there's like hey this club is open if we want to go here this place is open if we want to go here so it ended up becoming like uh trains to places almost you know and it was almost supervised, but kind of like, this is how we do this shit around here.

2:10:07Pat McAfee:And oh yeah, tomorrow all this is over. We're trying to go to the next week. It was like a really cool part of the culture, I think, that they established. I'm not saying I was any more part of that. It was like their culture. But then, remember, I think around the league that wasn't... Coaches got DUIs. Yeah, players fucking crashing. Coaches did? Yeah. There's some coaches. Still coaching some of these guys. That was a big win. That was a huge win, man. He was doing his dance. Once again, that is where somebody should have been like, hey, you, definitely celebrate also. That was a big win for him.

2:10:37Pat McAfee:You're in this one here. And that's what we got to do with society nowadays. You got to do that to your friends. Some people are very hard-headed and don't listen, though. Yeah. It's a shame. That's part of the game. Well, there's a generation of people, a little older than us, that have never, like, they think they become a better driver and they've never thought about a DUI. In Ohio, definitely. Yeah, it freaks me out. They're like, what are you doing? Like, you ask them, like, hey, man, you had, like, 19 beers and five shots. It's like, well, I'm a better driver now. I'm like, okay, are we really, is that really the world we're still living in?

2:11:05Pat McAfee:I have a friend that's been to Ohio DUI camp, which is a weekend, right? Five times. They just learn. I got plenty of buddies that have been in there. They learn from the drug addicts in there of how to, like, conceal their booze. Oh, I bought a tube I ran up from my radiator, and they're talking about how they can drink in their car. Yeah, because there's a blow and go, how to get around the blow. Yeah, it was like, I don't think these drunks should be around each other. Exchanging, talking, gossiping. It's like George Young went to prison. but he got his PhD in smuggling. Bingo. That's basically what it is.

2:11:35Pat McAfee:What is that? Oh, what did he say? I forget what he said. What a good movie. I went in as a... Every time I drop on George Young to somebody and then I walk out whenever they're talking about me going to other states that are legal. Never bring it back to India. I would never do that. We should legalize it though. I got the two names and we're going to start lobbying soon. But every time I say, I'm George Young, the shit out of this thing, the person that I'm talking to doesn't get it and then I hear them like 15 seconds later go, oh! That's like, yeah. George Young was doing that shit. Whoa, Black Betty.

2:12:04Remember the big guy, too? What's the big guy's name in the movie? Who's actually in very good shape now? Louis Lasseter. Yeah, Ethan Suple. What was he in?

2:12:11Pat McAfee:He was in... I remember the Titans. I remember the Titans. What was that? No, you're thinking of Donkey Lips. He was not in Salute Your Shorts. I believe Donkey Lips is still in search of a new kidney. Who was Donkey Lips? He was reaching out to DDP saying, hey, I need you to fucking save my life with the yoga. donkey lips has done enough for me i would say the famous quote um from below is danbury wasn't a prison it was a crime school i went in with a bachelor of marijuana came out with a doctorate of cocaine oh nice i'll tell you what his doctorate was good until they got him in that last round table he was free he had buddy screwed him he was so he was there think about the weight that came off of his shoulders when he was sitting down there oh my god i did it and then it's the walls pick up and then as you're in jail for the rest of your life your daughter's gonna hate you yeah Yeah.

2:12:57Pat McAfee:And George, like, charges the game, I guess. Is he dead, George? Yes, he, I believe, in, like, 22. He definitely got out, though. He did get out for, like, a year or two, but then he passed away. Sam Hurd's getting out sooner. He did get out. Sam Hurd, what a legendary NFL story that is. Yes. That guy was playing special teams on Sunday and then moving kilos. Ha! At, like, Bruce Chris. Walking in George Young, walking out George Young. This guy just carried his own in, carried his own out, delivered the money. Yeah, but who do you work for? Me. Who works for you? Me. It's like Sam Hurd cut out all the – I know.

2:13:32Pat McAfee:And they were like, well, he's going to rat on somebody above him. It's like, no. I think Sam's pretty high up there. That was crazy. He was running two really football business in the NAP. George has passed. Rest in peace, George. I had no idea that's how you spelled his name. J-U-N-G. J-U-N-G. Come on, dude. Study a little bit about the drug trafficking trade, brother. That's all me. Okay. Fucking cocaine cowboys should be next. Until you learn about that. That whole gimmick. They had planes. Let's get to a break. On the other side, we'll pick a bracket because AJ wants to do it. Great, AJ. I never said that.

2:14:02You did? You did. I never said that.

2:14:05Pat McAfee:You look good in that sun. Day. Right. Super cheap. Did Ty win the? Yes, actually. He won it? They won last night? Yeah. Yeah. Beat BCGC. Huge rush set. Wow, that's awesome. We're going to see that again, we think? We think we're ever going to see that again? What do you mean? TGL. They spend a lot of money in those little arenas. Yeah, a little. Sorry, they spend a lot of money in those super cool-looking arenas. Gigantic. How many of them are there? Two? I think there's only one. LA and Florida? Wasn't there an LA first? Is there an LA one? I thought they were making another one. I thought there was only one right now, but I thought they were making another.

2:14:42In theory, we could turn this place into one of those?

2:14:48Pat McAfee:There's a big one. I think the screens themselves are like 70 feet. They're huge. You could have a small sim, though. I think the sim part of it doesn't matter as much. You could have the sim we have. You would just need 50 yards for an approach shot. I believe they have 50 yards. And then the green. So if we have the sim up there, you're hopping on like a fireman's pole down to the green down here? Yeah, exactly. You should have one. A fireman's sim? Yeah. You want to ride that pole or something? I heard about you riding that pole. I see what you're doing. You like riding poles. I've been looking at.

2:15:22What if you put a fireman's pole? Wouldn't you want a fire pole in your house? For what? Why? To jump down and slide to the first level from the second.

2:15:31Pat McAfee:Are you using your feet like somebody understands what they're doing or are you using your hands? I'm just like, I'll get a veteran firefighter and say, please teach me. And you'll say, sir, nice mustache. No. Or ma 'am, I'll say. Sir or ma 'am, fire person. You're right. And if the fire chief has a name that is both ways. Like what? Like Pat. Yeah. You know, it could be a male or female. It's Pat. That's from SNL. I appreciate you doing that. Don't always just assume it's a dude in your email. Oh. Yeah. That was a bad play by me. That might be a Patricia. That was a bad play by me. AJ could be both, too.

2:16:10Pat McAfee:Yeah. Thank you, sir. I sent back with authority. Bam. That's not the first time that has happened to that person, though. I know, but I felt like an asshole because that lady was doing so much for us at the time. It was only via digital. It was only via digital. That's the problem with text. Well, you never know. You don't know. The headshot. She. Yeah, she didn't. Her. Yep. Didn't show her hands at all. And. Yeah. She's great. I think she's still doing it. I think she's still doing it. Still bringing it. All right. Let's make this a bracket selection, shall we? We shall. We're doing both? What do you mean?

2:16:45Both.

2:16:45Pat McAfee:The Super Duper Crown? Yeah. And March Madness? Yeah. And NIT? Let's do the Super Duper Crown one now. Can we pull that up? There's only three teams. We can do it. There's eight, asshole. And it kicks off, what, May 15th? What? Why are you making a mockery out of everything? Okay, let's do this. It's the college basketball crown. Oklahoma will take on Colorado-Buffalo Wednesday, April 1st. Yeah, it's a while from now. Okay. Who do you got, Oklahoma or Colorado there, AJ? I'll take Oklahoma. All right, boomer roll there. Baylor versus Minnesota also happening on April Fool's Day. Okay, so we got Oklahoma and Minnesota.

2:17:22Pat McAfee:They'll be taking on the winners of? Give me the blue team. Okay, the Toronto Blue Jays. Creighton. Okay, Creighton. Now take Rutgers. Okay, Rutgers, and then they'll be taking on? Who should I take in this next? West Virginia. West Virginia-Ruckers, old Big East matchup here to find out who's going to take on Oklahoma-Minnesota. Who do you have in the left bracket, the April Fool's bracket, we'll say? I'm taking Minnesota to go to the finals. Okay, Minnesota, the Gophers are row, row, rowing the boat all the way to the championship of the Super Duper College Basketball Crown, and they'll be taking on who?

2:17:52Pat McAfee:West Virginia in honor of Bob Huggins. Okay, Bob Huggins, not the coach there anymore, but certainly a legend. He was when I was a kid. He wouldn't stand for this shit. I don't know. It depends on how much they're winning and what everything else is. So it's West Virginia versus the Minnesota Gophers in a super-duper college basketball crown. And AJ, the winner of the college basketball crown. The crown is? Minnesota. Is Bill Murray's son the coach there? Yeah. Yep. Where? Minnesota. Was he? Bill Murray? Xavier. Xavier. See, Bill Murray, the actor, the comedic actor. Yes, his son is a college basketball coach.

2:18:28Okay. He is. Learns something new every day. Yes, he is. Xavier, I think. He's currently at UConn, I believe. There you go. His son is Dan Hurley?

2:18:38Pat McAfee:No. His son was a head coach for a little bit. He's an assistant coach at UConn, I think. Where was he before? Was he ever a head coach? I think he was an assistant. Was he ever at Minnesota? He was a head coach, yeah, for sure, because Bill used to come to games. Yeah, because he was an assistant. He was not a head coach. He was never a head coach. He should be. Head coach material. I think it was at Xavier. He was at Xavier for three years. I remember that. Bill used to sit in the student section. UConn since 21. He's got a national championship. He's about to get a big time job. I'm speaking into existence.

2:19:05Pat McAfee:Maybe West Virginia for old Bill Murray's kid. Russ Hodge. What if they win? You're going to run Russ Hodge out of town after making this prestigious tournament? I'll tell you what our women's basketball are winning in Big 12. What are our men doing? Winning the crowd, bro. This. Winning$100 ,000. Is that what the winner is or is it a million? No idea. Wait, is the Super Duper... I believe it's$500 ,000. ...flag football cup this weekend? It's not bad. It'll get you a player, too. What are you talking about? The Super Duper what? There's a football... There's a flag football thing going on. Is that now?

2:19:33Oh, the Saudi Invitational? Oh. Oh. Is that what it's called, right? Presented by Fanatics? Isn't that what it's called? Isn't that the official name? I don't think so. It's not? It was originally... Oh, it's the Saudi Open. Oh, okay. You might be on to something.

2:19:45Pat McAfee:When is that? Let's get to a break. It's the Fanatics Super Duper flag football tournament. Tom Brady is promoting it. Yes, he is putting it on. There's a lot of incredible players in this thing. I believe Joe Burrow. Saudi Arabia is in there. Okay. That's where it was going to be. Now it's in Los Angeles, obviously, in preparation for the Olympics, which have flagged football. It just makes sense. It'll be at the BMO Stadium over there. Yes, NFL players will be profiting off of playing football this weekend, if that is what you were trying to talk about. And we are certainly happy about that.

2:20:18Yes. Kyle Shanahan and Sean Payton are coaching.

2:20:21Pat McAfee:Shut up. Yeah. That is 100 % real. Saquon Barkley's in this thing. Where can we watch? Joe Burrow's in this thing. Miles Garrett's in this thing. Is Turkey reffing this thing? We assume Turkey will be at this game. Reffing. He's running that rock. And potentially Crown Prince. Wow. God bless him. God bless him. We don't know if they'll be traveling. Has everybody traveled over? You know, he moved the game out from over there. Yeah. Because there's a lot going on. Is everybody getting out of there right now? That's a good question. I don't think so. I think it's kind of stand on business time.

2:20:51Pat McAfee:We hope everybody's okay. We hope it all works out how it's supposed to. Whatever that means. Yeah, you can't say much else. I don't know what that means. We're all watching on the internet, and then we're asking Grok if it's real or not. Bad person to ask. No, that's actually a video game that some four-year-old was playing just two days ago, and he's the best top. And it's got 12 ,000 retweets. He's the best Top Gun pilot in history, actually, on his fingers on his computer. But, yeah, that could be America. That could be Iran. It could be Israel. fuck, could be a five-year-old in Minnesota playing a new video game.

2:21:21Pat McAfee:That's what the internet is right now. So on that note, let's keep our head on a swivel out there. That's right. Let's enjoy this life. We're lucky to have it. Let's celebrate the hell out of sport. And let's be happy that the Super Duper Flag Football Tournament is happening this weekend. I am. I brought it up. Try to get some pub to the game. What'd you call it? What's the official name on this thing? The Saudi Open. It's not called the Saudi Open. I don't think so. Fanatics flag football classic. Presented by Saudi Arabia. Riyadh season. Yes. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice, especially if they're playing in a flag football game this weekend.

2:21:57Pat McAfee:Tom said some mean stuff about Logan Paul. Have they worked themselves into a shoot, brother? I think so. What's that? Getting to WrestleMania. All right. Fandango used to say it like that. What's so funny, dude? This guy's unbelievable. This guy can't respect anything. I'm talking Fandango. One of the greatest wrestlers of all time. You ever heard of him? Yeah, one of the go-to. Bring him back. Bob Acklin. Yeah, Bob Acklin. Fandango. Eugene, the Miz. Fandango retired, actually. No. Yeah, he did. I watched him hang up his boots. He's in New Hampshire. Yeah, I know he is. Live for your dive, brother.

2:22:28Pat McAfee:He's a great contractor, actually. I've seen him put together some incredible condos and apartments and houses online. Hell yeah. And I, too, am a Fandango addict. Yeah, too. Hey, I'm a big fan of him. Bam, bam. Bam, bam. I actually kicked him right in his chest, and then he was off WWE television for months and months and months. And he sent me a DM and said, you're in my business, kid. Are you in my career, kid? I was like, fuck, I felt so terrible. He's one of the greats. Yeah, that's Fandago. He should be in Mania. I agree. Maybe he will pop up with Tom. You think Tom's going to Mania? How could he not be setting up a Mania?

2:22:59It's in his city. A Mania work when he's going back and forth with Logan Paul this much. Maybe he pops up and he hits him in the balls or something. That's not how Tom is going to do it.

2:23:08Pat McAfee:You think Tom Brady's going to punch in the balls? I think Tom Brady's a big overhand right guy. Yeah. Like maybe like Stuncold actually with an inside. He might throw a football right off his temple. Could see him being a crossface. Do we know what the official song of Mania is yet? Fiend. Fiend again. Yeah. Thanks. I remember those good old days, weren't they? Yeah, that was awesome. They only played it a thousand times. Might be a bad buddy song. And he only liked it more and more. Yeah. Legit. Then I got to the time where it was too much. Night two. Yeah, Sunday. Start night two. Sunday. Hearing that Sunday.

2:23:40Woo! Maybe we were Fiending though. Big time.

2:23:44Pat McAfee:We officially enter our bracket into the ESPN Super Duper Bracket Challenge on the other side of this break. Would it be worth a watch? Absolutely not. But is there anything that we do that is? Some people last night said yes. There's people that did not speak our language and had seen our show and watched our show before. Okay. Is that your official bracket? They do the captions. That's a lot of fucking shit we're about to do. I don't like it at all. It's only like 68 games. Just rapid fire. Don't even think about it. Don't have to do it. Let's get to a break. I'm going to go. Don't.

2:24:15Pat McAfee:remember yeah we did the free agency frenzy this is march madness this is march this is march we're gonna do the espn bracket super duper challenge okay let's get a billion dollars right when we get it perfect no that is only for that one company that was quick or no but isn't old buddy the one i don't think he's standing i don't know if he's doing it anymore yeah it's fucking asshole what it's never happened he basically said like why the fuck am i paying a billion dollars to some guy. Because you can, Warren. You're all about numbers and da-da-da and the percentage of somebody doing it. I don't like that he just ended that when he retired from doing his McDonald's every morning into shaping the entire stock market with every move that he makes.

2:24:58Pat McAfee:Elon would probably step in. Warren's 95. Maybe he just didn't want to. Warren's 95 years old. Because they see us starting to get pretty good at it. AI. His kids do. They get worried. Shut it down, Dad. Because of us. Berkshire's still bringing it. Especially with what we're about to do right there. I think forever. There's a Rupert Murdoch documentary out there. Docu-series. The one? Yeah. This is March. It's like a succession type thing. Succession? Succession. Succession. What does that have to do with Warren Buffett? I don't know. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all. Rich? They have money. You're saying rich people?

2:25:40Pat McAfee:We're mentioning rich people? Rich white guys? Yeah. Jeff Bezos, fucking what a guy. Yeah. There's a documentary out there about him and his laugh, I believe. Ernest was hitting Jeff Bezos' laugh a lot last night. What's the sound like? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. He really enjoyed it. Oh, I don't know what it is. Ernest got some things in the back pocket at all times that are really spectacular. I have never seen them used before. Some of his social plays I've never seen done before, and I'm really impressed by them. Okay. Yeah, because he'll just slip some stuff by. And then he's like 10 to 15 seconds later, everybody kind of gets it, and he's already laughing on his way out the door.

2:26:18Pat McAfee:I like that. This morning he's writing. I think he's in a writing session right now with the guy who wrote the. National Anthem? No, Tennessee Whiskey. The original. I don't think Francis Scott Keith. Stampton? The original, though, which is like back in the 80s. Nikolia? Let's get to a break. I'm done with this. He wrote Middle East Whiskey. Sure. Different tune. We're not doing a bracket. The show is over. We only did the main bracket. The show is over. Yeah, you did the one that counts. The show is over. We'll be back on Monday. We hope you guys do great. Your friend, tell a friend, something nice about changing your life.

2:26:56Pat McAfee:We're just like, yeah, this is the worst we've ever done. This is the worst show we've ever had. No question. Should have thought about America losing one time. We didn't win last night. Yeah, did not think about it. That was a long night last night. If you made it one, you wouldn't have made it back. You'd be still boozing with the boys. What are you laughing at, Tony? He's a fucking animal over there. I'm sick of it. I just felt it coming for minutes. What's that? You having on through it? I'm not fucking doing that. I am done with it. As soon as it's been cool, you're good. All right. Be for a tough one.

2:27:23Pat McAfee:That's about changing life. Have an incredible March Madness weekend. We'll be doing it the same as you. Hopefully winning bets. Okay? Hopefully we'll all win. And hopefully somebody's one shining moment in a March full of moments will begin a magical way tomorrow as we follow along.

2:27:41Pat McAfee:I'm sorry that this is us. We will run a McAfee video on our way out here. Run the McHooey video. I needed that this morning. We should have brought his ass in here today. We should have. We've thrown out guest ideas. McHooey came up. Anything you say to the group as we get to fuck off of microphones for a while, thank God. Not really. I don't want to force it. Like Coach K said, it's got to be organic. It's got to be natural. Is it starting to come right now? Nope. Tone's starting to, though. I think we all are. It's March Madness season. Heart as rock over here. We'll see you on Monday. Zipper burn for everybody.

2:28:23Pat McAfee:Sports are about to take over our lives yet again. And it's not baseball this time. It's basketball. Who's going to win? Everybody's saying the best teams. Yeah. Act accordingly. Have an incredible weekend. We'll see you on Monday. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. might change your life. We're going to sing together. Team on me. Hey, great work in the back, boys.
