0:00Pat McAfee:Hello beautiful people and welcome to our humble abode the Thunderdome on this big crown overreaction Monday June 15, 2026 this program begins now. Sports! You are the absolute greatest and we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to be a tiny little part of the sports universe that has been so damn dominant from I would say day one of the year till day 365. 65 sports are swinging a hot bat and we're not even going to talk about professional bats but we'll certainly talk about some college bats because the college world series has been electrifying now i can't wear my jordan shoes today because of what unc did to the west virginia mountaineers just yesterday but i will say out there in omaha they have a baseball tournament taking place and it has been electrifying we'll have to talk about that but let's just chat about the other sports that have crowned their new kings shout out to the nba the new york knicks have won their first title in 53 years.

0:55Pat McAfee:That's awesome. Congratulations to Jalen Brunson and the boys for being able to bring a title to the city that needed some unity. Not that any city doesn't, but New York City. Coming together to celebrate the hell out of what this New York Knicks team has accomplished is certainly beautiful. The crowd reaction's outrageous. The vibe's immaculate. The parade is on Thursday. And remember, their mayor is Muslim. Their bagels are Jewish. Their Christians do your... Knicks took five to go ahead and win that entire thing. And now we shall see maybe the biggest parade in the history of sports, the biggest city in the United States of America, all rallied around one team celebrating one championship.

1:30Pat McAfee:Is it about to be absurd in Manhattan on Thursday? Absolutely. That happens this week. And, oh, does the NHL decide to crown their champions this past weekend as well? Oh, yeah. Wow. Congrats to the Carolina Hurricanes. Hurricanes. Unreal. Winning Lord Stanley Cup first time in 20 years. Jordan Stahl, a 37-year-old, becomes the oldest consmite. finals mvp award winner in the history of the stanley cup which has been around since way before they had black and white televisions you're talking about old guard old sport old trophy oldest man to ever hoist that title congratulations to jordan stall rod brindamore who's the coach in carolina hurricanes he has now won a stanley cup for the carolina hurricanes as a captain player and now as a head coach who's still absolutely shredded and when you give me lordo i'll be comfortable with it let me go ahead and uh hoist that earlier in the day he had it and he flipped it sideways let me go ahead yeah i've been here before yo yo it's like the old days lord oh you remember me i think he even put his legs around you remember when we did this way back when you know because lordo will travel to everybody you see in frame right there at least once this uh off season lord stanley cup different than all the other trophies it does get paraded around and celebrated but it actually travels to people's homes with the two handlers of the cup which are on the outside there you see.

2:47Pat McAfee:You got the commissioner there, Gary Bettman. He obviously matters. Lord Stanley Cup matters. Conn Smythe award winner, matter. And then the two on the outside, those are the handlers of the cup. That's right. Those two men right there are never going to be without vision on that Stanley Cup no matter where it is. Could be an adult ballet. Yeah. Yes. Could be at a six-year-old birthday party. Yeah. Could be at an ice cream shop eating so many cookies and cream ice cream on the top of that. Or could be at the bottom of a keg in a backyard in somewhere Halifax, Canada. That's fair. That trophy will celebrate alongside the team that earned it, which is the Carolina Hurricanes.

3:22Pat McAfee:And when you talk about those two champions, the Hurricanes and the Knicks, you're talking about a dominant playoff run. Almost saw it early for both teams. We thought the West in hockey was going to have a little bit more hope. We thought the West in basketball was going to have a little bit more hope. But instead, the Eastern Conference, the eastern part of the United States of America, win the NBA and the NHL over the weekend. Congrats to both crowned kings. Hell yeah. Now let's not even get started about soccer winning on Friday night. Man. Well, he happened to be there out of SoFi. Had a sports fan dream Friday.

3:53Pat McAfee:Was in Omaha. Watched West Virginia beat Troy. Troy would go on to beat Ole Miss. Now West Virginia's got Troy tomorrow over at an elimination game to see who's going to have to take on big bad UNC. Yeah. I fear they're very good at baseball. Good program. Yeah. They got a kid with glasses. McDuffie. Yeah. I didn't know you were allowed to do this. I mean, the ball was moving the entire length of home plate. I mean, it was his glasses. They've got an AI now that does stuffing. I'd like his glasses to be checked. And don't tell me that old-ass ump has any idea what AI could be in this guy's glasses.

4:27Pat McAfee:I think this guy might have actual laser on the ball from his glasses, throws it out there, glasses catch it, break it off. West Virginia couldn't hit shit. And then in the field, somehow, we couldn't field the ball either. So maybe McDuffie's glasses were doing something out there. And then they pull McDuffie. I think there was one out left, or only one out. Two outs left in the bottom of the ninth or top of the ninth where the West Virginia Mountaineers were. And I thought, what a true freshman. These guys are idiots. These guys are like, 97. Hum, hum, hum. UNC walks out, moves on. West Virginia has to battle Troy.

4:59Pat McAfee:That team's unbelievable. Eric Church was there. I didn't like that he potentially didn't ask anything about McDuffie with those glasses as well. I might have had another UNC alumni texting me throughout that game. I will be making a rather substantial donation to his foundation. I think Drake may have had a good time last night if I had to guess. But West Virginia, obviously Omaha on Friday. Two o 'clock, first pitch. We watch that game. Actually get to sing country roads and parking lot as we're heading out of there. Hop on bird. Very lucky to be living this life, not acting like we're not. Fly out to Los Angeles.

5:33Pat McAfee:Missed the first ten minutes of the United States soccer game. Missed the goal. Get in there as they're calling another one back. Don't worry, we score again. U.S. soccer all of a sudden had the greatest night in the history of United States soccer. Put up four goals. Filthy. One was an own goal. Three filthy goals against Paraguay. Dominated them completely. All of a sudden, people are saying, wait, soccer doesn't suck? That's kind of what's happening right now. It feels like soccer not sucking. A sport that I played as a child, as a youth, trying to make it on this U.S. national team. Not only Friday night helps that, but the entire World Cup has got magic going on.

6:08Pat McAfee:Germany scored seven goals. They were tied 1-1 at one point. Everybody thought, like, whoa, what's wrong with Germany? Then they came out in the second half and said, excuse me, five goals. Sweden scored five goals in a game. Netherlands and Japan, they scored four goals, two each in the second half. Explosions everywhere. And the fans and the atmosphere is absolutely incredible. It's like, wait, did soccer have a weekend? It did. But I thought NBA had a weekend. I thought NHL had a weekend. Soccer had a weekend? Baseball had a weekend? Yeah. Well, how could it get better? Oh, I don't know. How about an underdog American knocking out some foreign champ, making him quit in the front of the White House?

6:46Oh, yeah.

6:47Pat McAfee:Oh, yeah, that happened last night at about 1 a.m. I mean, when you talk about sports having a home run of a weekend, no pun intended because West Virginia had no home runs against the North Carolina team. Sure. They will, though, tomorrow as they take on Troy. Hopefully the wind's blowing out. But when you talk about a home run weekend for sports, we just had it. And we're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it. Joining us today, Kendrick Perkins will be here. Okay. He FaceTimed me at the end of the Knicks game after they get crowned. I did not answer because I was pretty tired, I'm going to be honest.

7:18Pat McAfee:Saturday night after the Big Friday. I'll be excited to hear what his thoughts were. Yeah, me too. Big body Brunson's unstoppable. Mike Grello will join us at 1240. He's CBS and Paramount Plus soccer. He started war with Australia. Good news. USA plays Australia next week. Grello has played all around the world. He's an actual superstar. Also a foreign member of Concafe team. That's right. He's the one scoring in the open. Sick finish. Sick finish, yeah. It was like when we were kids. I played with him as a child. He was a chosen one as a child. He's really good. Now he's great on the mic. He'll talk to us about soccer.

7:51Pat McAfee:115, we're going to have a hockey guest. We don't know who it is. Kind of just waiting. Hockey related. TBD. He'll be a hockey person speaking at 115. And also, if you're watching at home, you're a hockey person that's good, 115 could be a spot for you. That's right. Reach out to Mick Fiss. hit up EVP, Mick Fitz, at ESPN for hockey at 115. And then Carl Ravitch will join us at 140. We only got a chance to catch up with him for like seven minutes in Omaha because we had a one-hour show on Friday. So we'll talk about it all. We'll cover it all. And we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to be a part of it.

8:23Pat McAfee:Sports were spectacular this weekend. Obviously, the weather was great here in Indiana. I know there was some weather in some other places. Kind of easy come, easy go. We are in that time of year. But I will say, man, from Friday at whatever time we got up till last night at 1 a.m., sports have just kind of carried life and carried society. And I think it's a beautiful thing. The Toxic Table is here at Boston Conner and at Ty Schmidt. One half of the hammer. Cowboys AP Tone is here. Tone, you got a new front to your desk. I don't know if you've seen it. Oh, yeah. Look at that. That's good. Now available in all 50 states.

8:59Pat McAfee:It's 21 plus, obviously be responsible. We'll get predictive markets in all 50 states. Got free to plays as well available. And obviously their sports book. If you're 21 plus and want to dabble responsibly. Responsibly. It's not ruining it for everybody else. Okay. Please don't be stupid. You're an asshole if you do not gamble responsibly. We would like to let you know that. And although we know that it is an outlier in this world. We know the people that kind of fall into the trap of chasing and think that they're smarter and can figure everything out is much smaller than the whole. We want to let you small people that do that know that, first of all, we're pulling for you if you're in there.

9:33Pat McAfee:But get out of there. You're making us all look bad. Can't be like we've got to gamble responsibly. We've just got to have a little action on these games to make them a little bit better. At one point last night, I had Bo Nickel. I put out 45-plus strikes. It was only 40-plus strikes, which seemingly makes it better. Nope. Bo Nickel kicked the guy's head off. I had Vegas Golden Knights straight up to win so that we could get a Game 7. Carolina won. And then I had West Virginia plus one and a half. They lost by five. So last night was a tough night chasing the crown, but what have we been learning about the crown chasing that we need to maybe remind ourselves?

10:05You were on an absolute heater before that. A lot of us were this weekend. We all started with Mexico on Thursday in the opening game. I believe that night we took South Korea. DraftKings is doing this plus one, where if a team goes up one at any point during the World Cup, you win that bet. We did that with South Korea on, what was that, Thursday night. Friday we had the Mountaineers. Friday night we had Team USA. That was great. We rolled into the Knicks. That was great. And then, yeah, you talked about it. Like, the Stanley Cup, the Hurricanes were absolutely dumb. There's so many things to bet on right now.

10:38It's insane. With the World Cup and now when you have baseball, all the baseball, UFC, golf, we have the U.S. Open this weekend. There are so many things. Sports are the greatest. I will say that you have to do this because I always forget. Before you go to DraftKings and do place a bet, they literally have a bonus on any sport you want. Like, any sport you can imagine. There's a 50%, 25 % bonus, all those things. So make sure you do that before you actually place your bet because I always forget and it will cost me money.

11:05Pat McAfee:Yeah, DraftKings, the plus one bet, both teams are winning. Yeah. Now, it caught us on Sunday, I think. It did. Brazil. Yeah, Brazil. Yeah, Brazil caught us because Brazil ended up tying. They ended up coming back and going up one. But this plus one bet, if your team just gets up by goal, you're a winner. Yeah. You're automatically a winner. Now, we're not saying that's a guarantee because obviously we lost with Brazil because that would have been an assumption that we all would have made. We thought it was too easy of a bet almost that it was happening. And once again, it ended up not hitting.

11:31Pat McAfee:But they're paying out both sides of this bet sometimes because in a lot of these games, and we mentioned right there, Germany scored seven goals. Sweden scored a bunch. Netherlands and Japan had four goals. This isn't the soccer of the old days. Now, there's still some boring-ass games. Let's not get it twisted. And there will be. Used to be 32 teams that make it in the World Cup. So I think there was a lot of parity. I think there was a lot of parity amongst the teams. I don't know if there was as much disparity as you would amongst the talent level. This is the first year they've had 48 teams, first time.

11:59Pat McAfee:16 more teams. I assume they were absolutely crushed for making this decision. I assume they were called greedy, corporate fat cats, disgusting pigs who are going to maybe add some blemishes to the beautiful game and make it no longer watchable, especially with this hydration break, which is just a commercial. Are they playing quarters? Is this U8? Are they bringing oranges to eat at halftime? I'm like, what is this amateur hour? I think there was a lot of that being said. I will say this to somebody that grew up playing soccer, but never really watched much soccer because I was super bored because I like to see things happen and everything.

12:36Pat McAfee:Probably should have watched more. Probably could have got better at soccer, but just couldn't do it. And also, my family wasn't sitting around watching soccer a lot. We were an American football family, always have been. These games have been electrifying. And getting a chance to be there on Friday night, this American team right here, hey, first time in our history. In my life, I don't know about before that, but in my life, once again, growing up playing soccer my entire life, aiming to hopefully one day play for the national team, all that type of stuff. We've never had the amount of guys with nasty, filthy skill that we have now.

13:09Pat McAfee:We have nine guys on the pitch, on the field, that can cook people, that can take people on. Now, Reamer, our captain, 37-year-old, plays a vital role in this entire thing in the back. The old guard. He is the old guard. But I think the guard that's coming up right behind him, which was the crew that was crowned maybe in the last World Cup, I don't know if they're all natural. I don't know if there's any natural leaders in that bunch. I don't think Reyna is like a natural leader, even though his dad was. I don't think Polithic wants to be like a leader. I don't think that's the case. There was that generation that was supposed to be the Golden Boys.

13:40Pat McAfee:They're supposed to be the best we've ever been. These guys grew up in academies in Europe. We never had that before. I don't think any of them wanted to be like the captain of the team. I think they all just wanted to play. Now that generation, Reamers, Copton, 37 years old, that generation very talented. And then this generation that's right behind it, yeah. Nasty. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We killed Paraguay. We cooked Paraguay. Our defense was suffocating. We were on like a 3-4-3 and then a 4-3-3. So you start from the back, you work forward. We had three defenders whenever we were on offense. Then we slayed the guy back four on defense.

14:13Pat McAfee:And Paraguay had no idea. Paraguay had no clue what was happening. And I think this is potentially why the boys didn't look great in a couple lead-up games either until they played against Germany in Chicago. I think they were trying to learn the system. The system is chaotic. The system is insane. All our guys have to be able to run. All our guys have to be able to cook people. And Paraguay's coach came out afterwards and was like, yeah, we had no idea what the hell was happening out there. They had guys moving and playing. Yeah, here's his quote. the Paraguay coach puts the feet down that a complexity of the U.S.

14:47Pat McAfee:approach they dominated tactically technically and physically they create a pentagon in midfield they have a solution to every prop we were everywhere and we knew exactly what they were going to do that isn't just against Paraguay Paraguay played well in the lead up by the way I think they tied Brazil and some other beat Argentina beat Argentina and tied Brazil Paraguay's a good team I think a lot of people were like oh Paraguay must be ass gave up the least amount of goals I believe in their qualifying in that region everybody was saying they must be ass it's like no I think we hey i might do it look out it's coming home i think we have the confidence finally and i said that in chicago whenever we played against germany and anthony robinson attempted that volley that just went through the back of a net it was nasty strike just an absolutely nasty goal american teams of the past would have settled that passed it back around because we always thought the other team had more skill than us we're just going to try to not let up any goals Let's not make any big mistakes.

15:43Pat McAfee:And then we'll score on our one or two opportunities that we get. Ponchettino has come in here dressed so cool. Air Force is Team USA Air Force is this incredible kit that he had on. He's yelling at the refs. He's chirping at this. I mean, he is very active. I don't know if anybody can understand what he's saying, but I think they get his kind of moxie and aura. All our guys think that they're better than the other team. All our guys have confidence. All our guys have moxie. All our guys have skill. And I think we're a problem. After watching all those games, They were the most impressive team by far, including the greats.

16:15Pat McAfee:Germany put up seven, but started early. So obviously we'll have to talk about that as we go on. Is Germany who they were late or is Germany who they were early? Certain question marks we can have. And aside from that, I think America being an incredible World Cup host, also good for soccer. We're bringing the world together through soccer. I think soccer is about to have a big boost. And Pochettino alluded to that after the game. He said, other sports look out. and it ended up being like 24 million with the Telemundo number, which is the Spanish speaking. This was just the English speaking thing.

16:46Pat McAfee:Up and to the right if this team can win. We still hold Tony Miola in high regards from 1994 because he had a little bit of success in the World Cup as an American. Landon Donovan will always be held in high regards because what they were able to do in the knockout round. This team is way more talented than any of those fucking teams. I mean, it is and they run and they're dogs and Ponchettino is... We want to kill. We used to not want to give up any goals. Now it feels like we're alright if we give up a couple and they score. We're trying to score three or four. That has never been our soccer style.

17:21Pat McAfee:It's going to be fun soccer going forward. I am legitimately excited about our chances to maybe win the whole fucking thing. Yeah, why not? That would be insanity as Ponchettino says why not us? Tactically we got him. Technically we got him and mindset wise I think we got it. So let's go win this thing. And it was lucky to be boots on the ground. Saw Tom Cruz, ran David Beckham, Robbie Keane, obviously. Yeah, unbelievable. Just normal. Just very normal Friday. I posted very normal Friday. Was going to be completely normal Friday, but to be clear, had a jack and died or two, maybe just slipped up on the word.

17:56Pat McAfee:It was not normal at all. Told Bex that when I was a child, I watched him hit a penalty kick like 100 miles an hour. And all I wanted to do was be able to do that and hit it faster than you. And I turned into a professional ball kicker. So I think you could probably take a little credit for that. He goes, really, Mike? You know, he does that. And Tom Cruise goes, yeah, you should. Yeah, he used to be a ball kicker. Now he does media. Like Tom Cruise's energy was incredible. So got to meet a guy who inspired me in Beckham. You know, I wasn't really trying to bend it like Beckham. Raina was. I was just trying to kill people with a ball like Beckham was doing back in the day.

18:30Pat McAfee:And then Tom Cruise and Robbie Keane. Yeah, right. What a joke. And then I go into the next suite over in that thing. Oh, just the entire Kroenke family and the Los Angeles Rams are sitting in there basically. And also Arizona Cardinals head coach. That's right. Michael Floor, formerly of the Rams. He was a great guy. Sean McVay. Strapping guy. Absolutely strapped. I asked him his dims as I was on my way out. I'm sweating in the tank top. Why is everybody so dressed up, by the way? Soccer? You guys don't dress like assholes to sports? What's going on? A lot of people tell me I dress terribly. i'm like well i think the sweet crowd in the actual crowd might be a little different yeah because i was out in the actual crowd but there was still still some i mean booted i don't think like booted but i didn't really i was the biggest washington there george washington a lot of um which i thought was a beautiful thing a lot of lucha libre mass yeah okay american lucha libre mass speaking in spanish about america that's awesome love it love everything about a lot of that going on over there and it was yes so many yes yes this is incredible and then you think about the fans that have come from these other countries to america and experience america for the first time not just new york city or los angeles or las vegas they're actually experiencing america it's like huge success right now and you guys are adopting an entire country up there in boston yeah no doubt about it the tartan army from scotland they're playing bagpipes all night long all day long they actually took over fenway park that's the thing you don't really think about is in between these games, you've got three, four days where these people are just experiencing your city.

20:02And last night, I think the Scots were at Fenway Park until like 3 a.m. playing bagpipes, just hanging outside the stadium. This is from Saturday before their game. They were singing Country Roads. I believe they were just enjoying the hell out of every single part of Boston. It's really cool to see and just the vibe to the city as a whole. I think we have the video as well of the Boston cop, Connor Hardy. Yeah, here he is. He's like juggling, just having a good time. All the vibes are just through the roof. Pretty good foots. Yeah, it's not bad. It's an incredible juggle.

20:33Pat McAfee:He loses it and then steps on it and says, look at me, which I'm going to do going forward. They all obviously surround him, start pushing him around. He loses his hat. He has it on backwards at one point and walks out. I think that's a good kind of representation of what it seems like America and all of these fans have been in all these towns. Obviously, Boston is still a massive city. I mean, you've got Brits having Cracker Barrel B's and G's for the first time. This guy with his incredible mustache just cutting into biscuits and gravy for the first. Oh, God. You actually watch his mouth say, yep, we've been missing this, pal.

21:07Pat McAfee:Remember, in Europe, they don't even have ranch dressing. No. They do not have biscuits. They do not have gravy. I couldn't even fathom the European mind experiencing B's and G's would be a tweet of the past. And now they're actually doing it, falling in love. We'd like to let you guys know, anytime, anytime, anywhere, please come over there. Elsa from Sweden. Okay, she stops by Golden Corral because they told me to keep coming. Just anything you want. The best meat you could possibly have. You should see their dessert spread. This is all available, let alone being all available. There's a Japanese story about chips and salsa coming at a Mexican restaurant.

21:43Pat McAfee:By the way, all these Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral, Mexican restaurant, all these are U.S. staples. All these are U.S. staples. Here's from the Mexican restaurant where, we don't know if this one's real or fake. Yeah. Too good of a story, the way it was typed. So it might be the greatest typer of all time. Who cares? The way this person describes getting free chips at the beginning of a meal, as if it was like, you're going to hold this against me for the rest of my life? Like, what are we doing here? I haven't even done anything. You trust that I'm going to pay you? Yeah, that much? Well, I guess I got to honor your trust.

22:15Pat McAfee:Eats three, four buckets of chips and salsa. Can't eat their actual meal. Tells the entire tale. Everybody's like, yup, welcome to America. And then what about a gas station? Them seeing an American gas station for the first time, one of these foreigners rolled up on a Buc-ee's and was like, what the fuck is this, a mall? Nope, this is a gas station, Freddie says. Freddie, obviously, the German who's been traveling around, who has been, he is real. Confirmed real. J.J. Watt helped. Confirmed real person, yeah. J.J. Watt gives him a hotel down in Houston as he traveled down there for the German game where they scored seven goals, so obviously Freddie had a good time.

22:49Pat McAfee:J.J. Watt put him up in a hotel down there. He's been, they've been welcoming. Just know this, Europeans and foreigners. I mean, let alone what Korea's doing down with the Mexicans. Yeah, awesome. I mean, it was just an absolutely phenomenal scene. I think what we're all learning in sports provides this. Whenever we're all on the same page, just trying to enjoy sports and kind of, hey, this is what we're here for. I don't care about how you feel about this. I don't care about how you feel about this. We're just here to have a good time and do the sports. Brazil took over Times Square. Everybody was happy for them.

23:18Pat McAfee:I think Brazil was happy for them. Seemingly, everybody's just having a blast together. This is what sports does. It unifies. But also, this is probably the first time a lot of these countries have ever experienced American people. Think about the way that they're probably portrayed America at home. It's either politicians saying and doing something that at least half of Americans don't agree with. Probably even more with the way our political system is. Let's say 65 % of people disagree with everything, basically, that's happening. So they're only learning about those times. our protests probably the only ones that are making international news when everybody's pissed off let alone the people that are doing the news those people are representing america these people probably the only time you're really hearing about it i think their portrayal of what america is probably pretty bad selfish obviously greedy warmongers this this this all the things that they're told and then sports comes along it's like hey why don't you come have a kick uh in the middle of boston why don't you go do this feels like the world's coming together around the world cup in the united states of america and uh i'll tell you i almost get emotional thinking about because it's been what we have been preaching.

24:20Pat McAfee:Sports are the greatest thing to ever exist, and I think we're seeing it in real time here. Yeah, and all the stuff with the other people from different countries is obviously awesome, but I found myself looking at this and being like, it's a pretty good, like, we got it pretty good living here. You know, it's like the simplest of things. Like, when was the last time you went? I know, like, if someone was like, hey, you want to go to Golden Corral? I'd be like, that place stinks. Absolutely not. I do not want to do that. And then you get people from other countries who go over there, and it's like a euphoric experience.

24:47Like, obviously, we don't know because we live here on a day-to-day basis and everything is so divisive politically and just with everything. But, like, an event like this puts it in stark contrast. Like, we do have it pretty good. Like, we live in a pretty fucking awesome place. And it's great that these other people who, like you said, have never really experienced it get to come over and be like, oh, wow, it's not all this pomp and circumstance and bullshit that I hear about. These are normal people who, like, one of the guys was walking. They must have got an Airbnb in a neighborhood, and it was in a suburb of Atlanta.

25:19And he was like, said hi. Yeah, he's like, these people said hi to me. They said good morning. Like, what is this? I was not expecting this. It's just like little things like that where it's like, oh, yeah, I guess if you aren't from here, you wouldn't believe that. But here we are. We get all these stories, and it's incredible.

25:31Pat McAfee:Let alone air conditioning. Yeah, that too. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is an NBA champion, 15-year NBA vet, a man who got drafted out of high school. And I assume some of these Europeans saw this guy. Holy shit. Holy fuck, ladies and gentlemen. Kendrick Perkins. Yeah, Perk! Perk, I don't know if you've been seeing it. Obviously, the NBA Finals, you've been so locked in, but a lot of these people from other countries have come to the United States of America to celebrate their teams, and before the World Cup started, a lot of these teams were kind of posted up in small towns across the United States of America, and their diehard fans came in to see them.

26:04Pat McAfee:They've been experiencing all of America. I think people would say our country's awesome, all of us. It is a good time right now because of sports, Perk. I heard you had a reaction to the Golden Corral dig from Ty Schmidt, though. Oh, yeah. Tom, disappointing. Golden Corral is a classic, man. It's, listen, one of the best restaurants ever. Do you know my spoiled-ass kids, this happened about a month ago. They never had Golden Corral. I grew up on Golden Corral. My wife grew up on Golden Corral. So they went to church. And after church, she says, you know what? I'm taking y 'all out to eat. I was on the road.

26:42She said, we're going to this nice restaurant. Y 'all going to love the food. So she put blindfolds on them as she was driving the car. And they got to go to Correa, and they was like, what is this? And they had the time of their life. See, people, it's underrated. And I asked my wife, I said, how much did you spend? She said, for all, it was, because my mother-in-law went as well. She was like, all six, it was about$120. Top to beat. You see what I'm saying? And we ate good. You got different sections in there. But Ty, you know what? I wouldn't even take you with me to a buffet because you're the type of guy that would go in there and just eat a salad.

27:20Pat McAfee:No. Certainly not. You don't know me like that, Big Kurt. Trust me. No, I think Ty had a lot of Golden Corral days. If I had to assume there's a hangover to puke, they followed a Golden Corral and maybe turned them off of it. That's how the whites utilize Golden Corral. We roll in there hungover as a mother, and then we take everything out, and then we feel disgusting and we go, Golden Corral. Yeah, let me empty up both ends and then I need a break from Golden Corral. Yeah, Golden Corral, obviously an American staple as is Buc-ee's and everything else that they got going on coming here to America.

27:51Pat McAfee:We appreciate the fact that they're enjoying it. They also got to be here for the first time in 53 years, the New York Knicks win a title. Congrats, New York. Hell yeah. Congratulations, Bruce. Kirk, tell me a little bit about Big Body Brunson and why he's the greatest Knick of all time, even though his dad refuses to acknowledge him. Rick did have a dad moment but that's what he's supposed to do because he wants Jalen Bronson to stay hungry but when you talk about what he has done in the company that he's joined he averaged 32 points in the finals like Magic Johnson didn't average that Steph Curry didn't average that Isaiah Thomas didn't average that He averaged fucking 13 points in the paint in the NBA finals.

28:40So he's changed the narrative of, you know, of how people or franchises are going to move forward because everybody want to go about, you know, how can they get a franchise guy and test the measurables? Now it's about the skills. And what he has showed us is, is that one, he's one of the greatest scores that we've ever seen. ever seen. He had 9 30-point games in this postseason. He had 10 last postseason. And for him to do what he did, drop a 45-piece wing dinner all drumsticks on the road against Wimby. Hey, man, what else can you really say about this young man? This was David versus Goliath at his finest.

29:28The San Antonio Spurs were favored to win this series. They didn't win one game at home. They got their ass kicked. Jalen Brunson said, you know what? I'm going to spot you some points in every single game, and I'm going to come back and I'm going to walk that shit down. And he did it. He didn't talk about it. It wasn't a lot of barking in between games, but he damn sure did some biting. He's one of those guard dogs that you want. You know what I mean? That might turn on their own owner.

29:59Pat McAfee:That's how much of a pit bull he is. No, you don't want the dog that's going to turn on his head, which I don't think by the way brunson wood he took 130 million dollars less or something like that so they could pay the rest of the team it feels like he's not only the dog that will bite but also the loyal dog to the new york knicks and obviously he will now have a statue for the rest of his life in the biggest city in the united states of america which is fantastic but let's talk about why he took a pay cut and for everybody else around him that kind of you know how to step up these guys have been here before okay this has been a team that has gotten to the playoffs and has had their hearts broke tell me about og obviously stepping up in a big way josh hart obviously very happy that things went different ways after he had mistakes but he's a huge piece of this entire puzzle obviously great patriot uh mitchell robinson uh he he had an incredible run through this entire thing doing his job gta he had some remarkable minutes in this it felt like everybody on the knicks kind of stepped up in their own manner how do you feel about the knicks as a whole and the cast around Big Body Brunson, who's clearly the star?

31:03Well, I mean, think about it. Every guy, including the coaching staff, was stars in their role. Darren Ehrman, who we talked about, the defensive coordinator, was a star in their role. The Knicks had the number one defense in this postseason. O.G. Ananobi, the ultimate 3 and D guy, I call him the 2026 version of Scottie Pippen, was a star in his role on both ends of the floor. Josh Hart, Swiss Army knife. You don't look at the scores to see what he does that impacted the game. Look at who he was guarding. See, no one was talking about or no one is talking about how he put the clamps on Stephon Castle.

31:45That was his assignment. Stephon Castle was nonexistent in the last two games. And then when you look at Mitchell Robinson playing some outstanding minutes, especially in back-to-back games when Carl Anthony Towns get in foul trouble. And Mike Brown, Mike Brown coached his ass off in this series. Think about this for a second. Mike Brown had the guts, the guts to go with a backcourt with two small guys in back-to-back games in the clutch and get it done. like they it was to the point where it was hard over height and so when you see all of this when you see Jordan Clarkson coming in and providing minutes after not playing earlier in the season and those guys staying in the moment Mikkel Bridges was horrible in games three and game four at the crib but here's some big time shots on the road and I mean I can't say enough about Carl Anthony Towns, when you talk about the guy that sacrificed the most, he was that guy.

32:53Like, he wasn't complaining and moaning and griping about getting the ball. No, he embraced being who they needed him to be. Yes, he got in foul trouble a couple times, but outside of that, his defense, the way that he was engaged, I mean, we have to give props when props is due. This is one of the greatest teams that we've ever seen. And this is not an overreaction. We could go check the stats. The numbers tell us that. 283 differential, you know, throughout this postseason, nine-game winning streak, you know what I mean? Nine-game road winning streak. 13 total game winning streak, nine on the road in that.

33:37Pat McAfee:Yeah, yeah. The only team to join was the Houston Rockets, I believe, back in 1995. You know what I mean? And, Pat, I got to come with these numbers and stats because, you know, some of these idiots and trolls in your comments that say, Perk overreacting, not you, never you. Never you or my guys that's in the state. Ty maybe, though. Ty maybe. Perk knows. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. Yeah, me and Connor didn't have our back and forth on socials. So we good now. We good now. For now. Yeah, but I understand that people will say it's an overreaction because you're talking about history and everybody loves nostalgia, is always going to hold things up.

34:15Pat McAfee:Bruce, you sent in some rating that said that they are the best team in the history of the finals. Best playoff net ratings of NBA champions coming out of Sportico. New York Knicks plus 15.4. Net rating equals point differential per 100 possessions. Okay, so who's the best if there was 100 possessions? The New York Knicks. Then the 2001 Lakers. Lake Show, how you doing? Keep it moving. Fun to watch down there. Golden State Warriors when they want crazy. Bucks, Bulls, Bulls, Lakers, Celtics. So you could literally have the argument anytime you wanted that they're the best team. And you can also say that you lived through it whenever they were getting 12-day breaks in between series because they were so damn dominant.

34:55Pat McAfee:Bruce, congrats to you and the Knicks, brother. Thank you. Yeah, unbelievable run. This net rating, too, is also with becoming the first team to ever have four double-digit comebacks in a finals that you won. so really you know obviously this happens with you lose two games by one point and then rattle off 13 wins where you're you're blowing people out but then you know to then show the the ability to come back to you know play a game where the Spurs are in control controlling the pace yeah unbelievable run and to cap it off with a Brunson master class 45 points you know the greatest closer in New York since Mariano Rivera.

35:36It's super fitting. Mitchell Robinson with a massive offensive rebound over Wemby in clutch time. It's amazing. The city's going to be amazing. So happy for this group. They all deserve it so much. It's probably the coolest run and coolest fan experience that I've ever been a part of.

35:59Pat McAfee:Can't wait for Thursday for the parade. Now let's go to the other side, Perk, because it's getting loud for the Frenchmen. Go ahead, Conman. Yeah, Perk, obviously kind of a wild finals for Wemby. Every single time it got to the fourth quarter, everything kind of changed when it came to him. And a lot of people now don't really like Wemby after this playoff run and the finals run. But for you, when you think about Wemby, are the expectations on him so much higher than any other 22-year-old we've seen in a while? I won't say ever because LeBron James, other guys, but it It feels like at 22, most of the time when these teams would lose, first of all, it was never in the finals.

36:35And then the other argument is, you know, Ann Edwards, for instance, when they would lose in these early years of his career, it was like, hey, he'll get there. Even Jason Tatum and the Celtics, when they would lose early on in the conference finals, even when they lost to the Warriors, it was like, hey, this is a learning experience. Whereas for Wemby now, it feels as though it's like, hey, this guy kind of blew it, especially in the fourth quarter, all those comebacks Bruce mentioned. It was very much a kind of a dump on Wemby versus everything else. But what do you say about his expectations?

37:05And is this something that we're probably going to end up hating because he's going to come back and win five finals after being motivated with this first loss? Well, the people who hate Wemby just don't like basketball. They need to question themselves because Wimby has been heaven sent when it comes to former players and what he's brought to the game of basketball. Wimby embodies the NBA. Wimby is the one that sparked up and gave life to the All-Star game. Wimby is the one that said, I want to participate in the dunk contest. Wimby is the one that said, I want to win MVP. Wimby is the one that walked off the floor without shaking hands after they just got their ass kicked by the New York Knicks on their home floor.

37:58This is what we've been missing. Like, there's been too much friendly stuff going on in sports, and this is Wimby wakes up every day for anybody that's not in the Spurs organization not to like him, and I'm okay with that. We need to get back to that. I don't want to keep seeing the jersey swaps. I don't want to see guys being friendly, working out with one another in the offseason. I want to see just that. And he's going to learn from it. Wimby knows what he has to do. Wimby knows that he has to get in the lab and go develop a signature post move. Wimby knows that he has to continue to get stronger.

38:37He knows that endurance is going to kick in. And what he realizes is that this marathon, this journey is long. So you have a greater appreciation for guys like Steph Curry and LeBron James, who's going to back-to-back finals and knowing what they had to put their body through in the offseason to get to this point. Like, LeBron had to go to Miami in order to learn how to complete the mission. He got there when he was in Cleveland, but he had to go learn. And it wasn't like, you know, we had Greg Popovich on the sideline. It was Miss Johnson. He was learning as well. And Miss Johnson did a hell of a job with this team this offseason.

39:22A lot of people don't realize how hard it is for a young coach to get a young team to buy in to being stars in their role. To buy in to losing themselves in the team. Could y 'all only imagine how many times he probably wanted to start Dylan Harper or should have started Dylan Harper throughout the regular season and the playoffs? You know how many times he probably had to walk in the gym and keep Dylan Harper motivated and make him stay in the moment? Do you know how many times a guy like Keldon Johnson, who was sixth man of the year, probably thought he should have been a starter, but Mitch Johnson had to convince him to be that star?

40:07Like, that's hard. And the fact that he's one of the youngest coaches in the league, filling the shoes of one of the greatest, if not the greatest coaches ever, and coming in into that role while managing Wimby and bringing them to the promised land, the Spurs have nothing to hang their heads about. It was a beautiful, a successful, and they overachieved this season.

40:32Pat McAfee:Definitely got there early. you know and uh i know there's going to be a lot of things said about him but we're sorry miss johnson

40:55Pat McAfee:they were very early we were watching them all you talk about mitch johnson you say this is going to be a learning experience and all that stuff. It was literally in real time. We were clearly watching a young team. And then on the flip side of it, this team's been here before, and they got a court general in Jalen Brunson that is kind of going to make sure everybody's on the same page. Excited for that to happen on the other side. You talk about Harper, man, I can't wait for him to find one of these because he's going to go to work. He's going to go to work on this. He's going to go to work on this from three, and as soon as he can, and then he can go into the pool Because nobody really respects this right now from him.

41:29Pat McAfee:And he's still able to get the buckets. That's like when LeBron developed his jumper. It was like a whole different game. You forget about all these guys. They're only going to get better. You know, this is only going to get better. And I can't wait to watch the Spurs for the next 20 years. I cannot wait to watch. How about Bryant accepting his role, just coming in and fouling? Yeah, dog. Hey, listen, just coming in and fouling the shit out of people. That's what you got to do. And the lottery pick. Exactly. He was a lottery pick. Like, he's going to grow. But I will say this, the Spurs, they do have some tough decisions to make.

42:00Right? Like, in a few, you know, Wimby is going to be eligible for a contract extension. I believe he might be eligible this summer. Right? Stephon Castle as well. Dylan Harper in a few years. Right? Keldon Johnson is going to be on the books for, I believe, like$17 million next year. I think Vassell is on the books. He's on a, I believe,$90,$85,$90 million contract. But the biggest elephant in the room is what are they going to do with De 'Aaron Fox? I think we know. And I strongly believe that they have to move on from him right now. And it's not because he had a horrible finals. It's not because he had some horrible moments in the NBA finals.

42:46It's because that's Dylan Harper's spot. and De 'Aaron Fox is on the$200-plus million contract. Your cornerstone, your three guys that you're building around is Castle, Harper, and obviously Wimby. And then you fill in the blanks from there, but you've got to find a suitor. And the crazy part is I don't know if it's a team out there right now that's going to be willing to take on a De 'Aaron Fox contract because I believe he's old for like the next four years.

43:22Pat McAfee:$221 million over the next four years, De 'Aaron Fox. So obviously somebody will sign up for it. We've seen that in all sports happen where we get surprised by it. And also this could be a big motivation for De 'Aaron Fox. A lot of people tying De 'Aaron Fox and Mike Brown together back to Sacramento and then now everything that's kind of taking place. So they're saying Mike Brown's sleeping good knowing that he's been right this entire time. And I know De 'Aaron Fox knows he's a hooper too. He doesn't love just getting dunked on by everybody no matter how much money you're getting paid. Okay, last question here, Perk, as we move past the new champs and look to an offseason.

43:49Pat McAfee:Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Perk, in your opinion, what is the biggest story of this offseason? Is it where LeBron's going to end up? Is it where Giannis is going to go? Is it what do the Spurs do, you know, trying to kind of get back to the mountaintop? Or is it something else? No, it's Giannis. It's Giannis. I believe Giannis is going to be traded before the draft. And it's where he goes. Like, Giannis is the one that moves the needle. I'm hearing rumors that it could possibly be in Boston. That means Jalen Brown might be on his way out, but could you imagine a healthy Jason Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo together?

44:28That would be hell and hot water for the rest of the league. But Giannis is the biggest story. Where he ends up, we're talking about a guy, in my opinion, that's already top three greatest power forwards of all time. I mean, seriously, when you look at his accolades, the only person that you can put in front of him is Tim Duncan. You know, like when you talk about what he has done in his short career, it's certain players in this league that moves the needle. Certain players, you know, a lot of players are popular, but he's powerful. Powerful means you change the economy. There's only a few of those guys that changed the economy when they moved somewhere.

45:13And Giannis is one of them.

45:15Pat McAfee:Hard over hype, power over popularity, ladies and gentlemen. That's the man with all the sayings, and he's on your ass like back pockets, ladies and gentlemen. Hey, hell of a run in this playoffs. You did great. We appreciate the hell out of you, man. Appreciate y 'all, man. I thought y 'all was going to need me for security out there with them Jell-O shots, man. I was ready to, you know what I'm saying, load up and get down there. Perk, that was just nothing like what I thought it was going to be, honestly. And I think what people, they invited me directly by name to the place. Like at Pat McAfee Show.

45:52Pat McAfee:You got to let him know. Said my name in the entire thing. It's like I thought we were walking into a great time. Turns out West Virginia has continued to win. Shout out to that. And shout out to the College World Series. Perk, we would love for you to travel with us, though. Everywhere. Perk behind the scenes is a lovable Perk. Boy, I tell you that much. Well, that's good, because on camera, you fucking suck. Ladies and gentlemen, that's Kendrick Perk. Yeah, Perk. All right, he's the man. And we saw him. We did see him behind the scenes. We did. I mean, he's the one that booked Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey.

46:25Pat McAfee:Peace. He knows everybody, and everybody knows him. And the guy's been in the NBA since high school, and now he's been on TV about it, talking. He is awesome. We appreciate the hell out of Perk for legitimizing us alongside Q Rich and also Iman, who's had a hell of a run. Talking about legitimizing us, ladies and gentlemen, joining us now is a man who knows the beautiful game. Yeah, he does. So damn well that he's part of the CBS and Paramount Plus Galazzo coverage. He's one of the voices of soccer, ladies and gentlemen. A man that I've known, a Paisan man that I've known since I was a teenager and a man who's played soccer all around the world.

47:01Pat McAfee:and now gives his critiques of the beautiful game, so much so that he has an entire continent and country in Australia hating his Italian guts right now. Ladies and gentlemen, legend Mike Grella. Yeah, Grella! Boys, what's going on, man? It feels like coming home every time I'm on with you guys honored. Hell, we love having you, and obviously you're spectacular at what you do. Love how this World Cup has started. from the fans invading America and experiencing different places as opposed to just New York, L.A. or Vegas to the crowds packed out. Everybody was talking about there's potentially a little blue dot fever happening for World Cup games.

47:39Pat McAfee:All I've seen is sold-out stadiums. All I've seen is incredible environments. And then the play on the pitch, obviously, USA playing the way they're playing is fantastic. We'll dive into that. But it feels like the World Cup has started perfectly. Is that an accurate way? If you were kind of a soccer fan or maybe an American soccer fan that's just getting into it. How do you view the first couple days here of the World Cup, Grello? Pat, you probably remember this. I fell in love with the game 94 when the World Cup came here. I was seven. I guess you were like eight years old. And there's like a magic that comes with the tournament.

48:10It comes with singing your national anthem. The stadiums are packed. There's something really special about it. Obviously, it's the world's game as well. And there's so many different countries involved. I can't get a ticket to a game. It's impossible. I mean, you can't bring your kids to the game because it costs you a fortune. So that's the one thing that I think has to be worked out because when, you know, working class families can't go to the game, I think that's a tough look and it's not right. But other than that, it's been great. The U.S. has been the best team I've seen so far. And we've seen some real surprises.

48:41Curacao getting a goal. They've got a population of 158 ,000 people. Dude, I live in Huntington, New York. We've got 180 ,000 people. So imagine making a team out of your hometown and going to the World Cup and scoring a goal against Germany. It's a pretty special storyline.

48:56Pat McAfee:Yeah, and then Germany said, okay. Have fun. That was cute. And then kind of moved along and scored five in the second half, I do believe. It went to halftime at 2-1. We've been watching all the games, and you mentioned it there. U.S., now I don't know enough about soccer to be speaking about it too much. But what I will say is it seems like the boys are all in on the formation. It feels like we got like a 3-5-3 type thing happening. And for the first time since I've watched U.S. soccer, going all the way back to Tony Miola's boys and Colby and Lexi Lawless, who's having quite a start and still on the microphone, to that entire crew, it feels like this is the first time where like nine out of the 11 guys on the field can cook the other team.

49:38Pat McAfee:It feels like we have a bunch of more confidence on the rock. I feel like we have guys that can take people on. And if you can beat one person, you can change the math completely. and all of our guys can do that other than reamer okay well maybe 37 i don't think reamer can cook anybody but it feels like everybody else can is there a reason why this team other than like me just being an ignorant american uh is there a reason why we can win the world like actually because i'm actually feeling i was there watching we were suffocating on defense they couldn't move anywhere we were everywhere we had guys fucking everywhere we're out running them we had more pasting them and we're taking them on, Grella.

50:15Pat McAfee:Am I seeing the right stuff here or am I just kind of boozed up at a World Cup game thinking America's better than everybody like I do basically all the time? I got to tell you, talking the right guy because, you know, obviously as an analyst, my job is to like point out all the mistakes and all the things that can be better. There was hard to find any the other night. Best performance in their history in an international competition, hands down. Anyone who says, oh, but it was Paraguay. You don't know. You don't know football and you need to watch a lot more. And they were perfect. They were the best team so far.

50:46Energy, transition, risk-reward, understanding everything that they had to do. Now, that's one performance. And you were at the game. They played in the top gear the whole time. It was almost like they were running downhill the entire time. I don't know that you can play that way for 90 minutes, eight, nine games in a row. I mean, look at this. I mean, they didn't make mistakes in possession. They didn't make mistakes out of possession aside from the goal. They were really good. Now they're going to be tested when it comes to like France, Spain, some of the big boys that are going to come into the tournament.

51:20Can they manage the moments? Because they're not going to be able to play 90 minutes, like just rock and roll football like they did the other night. They're going to have to manage different moments when they're under a little bit of fire. They're going to have to play a little bit more in like a defensive shape, sort of like we did at TST a couple of years ago. So we'll see if they're able to manage it. but they were fantastic, and American fans all over of any sport should be excited about this team.

51:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, I think you should feel as if we have a team that will represent. Like, in the past, I think we had, like, maybe six elite guys, five elite guys. Feels like now we got eight, nine, like, elite guys on the field. Once again, Paraguay, I've only seen these guys live one time, but I felt alive in there. Now, I do think a lot of credit, and you talked about what we played at TST. we played that way at TST because I think we thought the other teams maybe had more skill than us I think for a long time team USA has always played very defensive like hey we are going to try not to get beat too bad we're going to try to clog it up and if we have one chance or two chances we got to take advantage of it but it's going to be very boring it's going to be very low scoring and that comes from a place of thinking the other team has more skill than us which has kind of naturally been the United States thing then this guy comes to town this little Spanish speaking fella and it feels completely different go ahead Todd yeah gorilla how much credit does Ponch deserve?

52:38Because as someone who didn't play soccer and doesn't really watch it, it's very evident watching this team, how much different they look, and obviously the players are better, but I remember hearing this about Juergen Klinsmann when he comes on. It's like, oh hey, they got the guy. And then I kind of checked out during Berhalter because it seemed like the team kind of stunk. They weren't going to do anything. Now with him, it feels different. How much credit does he deserve? And do you think he is one of the best gaffers around in terms of who's in this tournament good word yeah the gaffer so listen he came in it was like super exciting and then he was just not getting results they lost all the top european teams he kind of he was he should have been under pressure and actually we interviewed him at the u.s open cup and it was at a moment where he was under a lot of pressure with the u.s and he strolled in man with a hugo boss suit or it was like sergio tacchini suit yes Top to bottom.

53:32Didn't give two shits, man. Super cool. And he's created a very – I don't think I've ever seen this before. He's created an atmosphere where it's like – he's like, I'm a winner. I've won big things. I'm a great manager. You guys suck at this, this, this, and this. You guys have to grow up in these sections. And the entire time, he's been kind of talking to other teams as well, club teams. He's already setting up his next job. So it's kind of like it's been a cold shoulder. He doesn't really talk to a lot of players. They get emailed. You know, you heard about that. They got emailed if they made the tournament or not, if they made the squad or not.

54:08So he's created this narrative where it's kind of like, hey, it's up to you guys now. You guys are big boys. You guys have the talent. A lot of our players play in the Champions League or top level European clubs. And he's kind of put the onus on them. He's like, I'm good. I know I'm good. Now it's up to you guys to show it. And I think they've kind of banded together sort of with him and against him in some ways. But I think now they've taken on responsibility. If you watch that Paraguay game, man, it was personal, dude. They sent a message to the world that night. Can they continue? We'll see.

54:39I'm optimistic, but obviously as the big boys come into the tournament, it'll be interesting.

54:44Pat McAfee:He just mentioned Herb Brooks. I think some of these soccer guys, just from my understanding from these TST tournaments, need that. I think that's not a bad thing to kind of bring. And you mentioned the talent level on our team now. This is obviously something you went and played overseas whenever we were kids. it was a huge deal that you were over there it's like i was in pittsburgh hearing about you playing in italy and i'm like holy hell i didn't even know that was possible now we got academies and also go ahead tone yeah girl i saw a stat the other day that 15 of the u.s uh men's national team guys play uh in the top european leagues that's more than brazil has on their current world cup roster how big of a deal is that how big of a deal is it them facing the best competition in the world all the time and then also gaining like we've talked about gaining confidence from playing in those leagues and performing well yeah so when i went over there i was one of the earlier guys going over to europe and when an american came to europe they were like what are you doing here you come in here to watch the kit or you come in here to uh the next best thing was your oh you're a goalkeeper right you guys play sports with your hands you guys must be goalkeepers and it was like you know from another world and anything you did good it was like oh but he's american now it's like americans are well sought after like they they are unbelievable assets because they got big engines.

55:53They can run a lot. They're smart. They're athletic. And now the fact that all, like, eight or nine guys are playing Champions League football, dude, that changes everything. That, like, week in and week out, the level, the tempo of the game, the physicality of the game, the speed of the game, they are they're not only playing in those games, they're dominating those games, right? Pulisic is Milan's best player over the last three years. AC Milan's best player. Think about that. We didn't know if he was even going to start when he first got over there. He is their best player. Weston McKinney, he is Juventus' most reliable players.

56:24These are historic clubs. Then they've got a bunch of guys playing Champions League football. Tyler Adams was a roommate of mine back in the day. He was 16 years old. This little thing. No big deal. He's got some nasty guy. He's playing for Bournemouth at the moment in the Premier League. Again, these guys are well sought after. This is a different World Cup. Back then, we had guys that were animals, that were men. now we've got actual guys that look like they got some bite and they're talented that's michael

56:54Pat McAfee:grella you're the man we appreciate the breakdown we'll continue to chat about the world cup for as long as america's great that's michael grella we'll see you on the other side goodbye

58:08Pat McAfee:Sports are the greatest and from Friday until now we've had four new champions crowned and a sport has been celebrated more than it's ever been celebrated in our country's history. And a college baseball World Series is happening that is producing electricity out of Omaha, Nebraska. Sports also showcased the United States of America in a huge way last night as Freedom 250 went off without a hitch. I think they had a rain delay slight, and then they just went in there with the wind. The spectacle was spectacular. I've never seen the White House look like that, from the lighting to everything else, the pageantry.

58:47Pat McAfee:Dana, I think they said 12 flying. Hey. So sick. So sick. Filthy. 5-5, and it won one, which I guess is an extremely rare formation. But also, that one flying behind. How's the jet? I don't know how any of that. Are they rubbing his race in there? Caught up in the jet wash? I don't know how any of that works. Straight's open. Yeah, straight's open. Straight's open from my understanding. I mean, sports potentially helped put a deadline on that because this particular event was taking place. Dana, one of the best reactions I've ever seen to somebody just, ha, oh my God. So cool. Oh my God, I can't believe this is all going the way it's going.

59:23Pat McAfee:This is America's celebration. 90 ,000 people, they said, were over in that Ellipse Park across the way or whatever the case, celebrating fighting in America. I mean, it was just from the World Cup on Friday, USA doing that. Hell yeah, America. USA chants reigning through Los Angeles. The anthem was unbelievable. Anthem, Dan and Shea, Pittsburgh legends, whole moment that takes place. Then the Europeans learning about rural America and central and Midwestern America and America as a whole. And then Freedom 250, Sunday night, showcasing it. And it ends with an American underdog forcing a foreign powerhouse arrogant champion to quit in the front yard of the White House at 1 a.m.

1:00:08Pat McAfee:on Sunday. I mean, one of the greatest weekends in sport that we've had ever, maybe. What's the finals on both? Stanley Cup champion. Larry O 'Brien champion. Sports are the greatest. They also said all these foreigners were going to hate our stadiums, and they love all the stadiums. Yeah, it's just, I guess. Even mad life. And the grass has been holding up for soccer. A lot of NFL players coming out talking about the grass. I would like to warn NFL players before you go talking about soccer grass. This is not super grass. Right. Which American football would need. I think there are different types of grass that are good for different types of things.

1:00:50Pat McAfee:Allegedly, the grass that has been rolled over on top of these stadiums, if you had to get a bunch of people in push it would be asked for that you're torn up yeah they said it would not be good for football so anytime the players come out and start talking about the grass rolled on top of the stadiums in the nfl and say they could do it for soccer we i thought we hate soccer why can't they do it for us the nfl immediately returns and go we'll put this grass out there is this the grass you want out there now granted have we seen the boys play football on these soccer pitches not yet so maybe we're being lied to about that maybe but we've been told by basically everybody in the soccer world that's like this is for like body styles no 300 pounders on the field yeah this is 130 pounds yeah they're they're kicking balls like this and have you seen when they do push off there is even for these little 125 pounders out here so a little different grasp different setup but seemingly stadiums working fields working host hotel is working except for england and missouri they're experiencing tornadoes yeah it's tough english english obviously built for it they got their shit stolen in florida last week had to go through a tornado this week.

1:01:53Pat McAfee:They're seeing the Scots and the Swedes and the Japanese and all these people have the time of their life, and they're hunkered down in a tornado room because, you know, we're looking out for them. It'd be like that sometime. Yeah, welcome to the U.S. Algeria and Lawrence, Kansas, are having a bromance like no one's ever seen. It's awesome. Korea and Mexico, obviously, we saw those videos. Hey, sports are the greatest. Talks to the table. Blackboss, Connor, Etai Schmidt. One half of the hammer. Done. Cowboys AP Tone is here. Live from Manatic in Ohio is a man who I think was a part of the Columbus celebration of Team USA winning, which we obviously had clips of where the entire city was seemingly going bonkers over what the soccer team was able to do against Paraguay in SoFi Stadium on Friday.

1:02:38Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, joining us live, fresh out of that celebration, A.J. Hawk. Hawk, thanks for going down there with the USA Chance and celebrating with the city as Team USA beats the absolute shite out of Paraguay on Friday night as we potentially start our voyage to World Cup Chomps, AJ. Yeah, I do feel, I know you're asking Greller, hey, do we have a chance to actually win this thing? It does feel like with the momentum we have only after one victory we could, but this is pretty cool to see. Obviously Columbus with the crew here, there is a gigantic soccer following. So, yeah, they are truly excited about this.

1:03:12Pat McAfee:They weren't the only ones. There was other cities that were obviously having celebrations. Here is New York, Atlanta. There was a bunch of watch parties for Team USA Soccer. It feels like 94 again. It does. It really does. Where the team has hope. Because there have been years, like, Lando and the boys went on a little bit of a run. I think they took on Ghana, maybe, in the elimination round. Gets a win late. Lando follows up and scores. Where the country, like, caught up to them. That was already so late. This is first game. Ass beating. Everybody's like, we're in. Yeah. We're in. We've arrived.

1:03:4616 mil. Okay, so yeah, 16 mil in English.

1:03:48Pat McAfee:Yeah. 8 mil or whatever. Tell them I'm going Spanish. I mean, that's the biggest for soccer. And that was the first game against Paraguay where normally fans would not have caught up to this yet. Normally it's like, okay, we beat Australia. All right, I'll give them some hope. Who do we got next? Turkey? Well, they're the good ones. Well, actually they just lost to Australia. Yeah, but Turkey's going to beat us. So people will hate watch on this America at that point. Like, ah, waiting for them to lose. Right now, it feels like an overwhelming, like, the boys might have it here. The boys might have enough skill.

1:04:19Pat McAfee:And they're dancing on the faces of Paraguay, AJ. We were up 3-1. There were seven minutes of stoppage time. It was already 97 minutes into the game. And the ref actually goes, last one, basically says it, as we're kind of driving down the field with the ball. And it looked like target time for TST with Team USA against Paraguay. Like, we were just kind of doing whatever we wanted to do with the ball. Boom, boom. And the ref literally, like, had his arms behind his back. Like, here's the last buildup, basically. This was in the 98th minute. It was only supposed to be seven minutes of stoppage time.

1:04:48And it was strictly because the ref, like, let's see if you can score another one.

1:04:52Pat McAfee:Let's see it. And they did. And Reyna curves it around. He comes in late, flops a couple times, very dramatic, and then bends one in, swerve off the outside of the foot. Nasty. Reyna coming in for a 20-minute spectacle there for Team USA, which we appreciate. But it was an awesome win. The style was fantastic. And I think America's on board. If they get going, Ponch said it afterwards, look out to other sports. That's what he said. And it's like, who's he talking about? Is he talking about baseball? No. Is he talking about baseball right there? Well, you know what? If we win the whole thing, sure.

1:05:24Pat McAfee:Who's he talking about? Is he talking about hockey? Can't be talking about hockey. Hockey's hot right now. He might be talking about everything. And that's why I love Ponch. He might be coming at the NFL if I know Ponch. Exactly. And that's why I love Ponch. So there is a thought that he's already agreed to a deal with another team, but that team also has gotten close with another gaffer. So maybe Ponch is Team USA's coach for the foreseeable future. For life. Remember, head coach of the team also has a lot of sway in how U.S. soccer is kind of handled at the youth level. So, like, Ponchettino, I think whenever he came in, was able to cut through a lot of political bullshit of U.S.

1:05:56Pat McAfee:soccer, which there always has been in everything. There's always political stuff. He drops in there, and all of a sudden, it's like, I just want the best players who can run their asses off. Turns out a lot of them are already playing in the Premier League. So we're off. AJ, we might win the whole damn thing. And I know people are kind of calling me dumb American. I'd like to let you Europeans and foreigners know maybe you're the dumb ones. They must not know ball. Maybe you don't know. Maybe you don't know what's happening on that pitch for Team USA. The boys are working. And we haven't seen Argentina.

1:06:27No.

1:06:28Pat McAfee:No. We haven't seen France. Spain's going right now. Yeah, they haven't scored. We saw Germany put up seven. Yeah, but we played our C game. Who's the favorite in the whole tournament? Who's supposed to win? Spain and France. And Argentina obviously has Leo. I think being on the soil makes a big difference, too. I know they're staying in hotels and everything, but I think that makes a huge difference. You talk about Cristiano Ronaldo. He's in his sixth World Cup. World Cups are every four years. Quick math. That'd be 24 years. That's how many years worth of World Cups this guy. And he's still standing like he's about to take a free kick in every single photo that he's in.

1:07:05Pat McAfee:Cristiano Ronaldo also must watch. Not the most famous person on earth, though, says 1 ,372 program feud surveyed people. Did you see the foreigners getting the comments there, AJ? No, what were they saying about that? So we put out a reel of who's the most famous athlete on earth right now, which is obviously a question that we asked. 1 ,372 sports fans who were pulled. And LeBron James is number one. Messi was number two. And then Tom Brady was like six or something over here. Wemby was on there. Wemby was last. Ronaldo was two. Christian, no. Yeah, Messi was three because you get Messi to start.

1:07:45Pat McAfee:Whatever it was, those two were back to back. No Tiger, though. No Shohei. Yeah, no Shohei was crazy. But I think the foreigners got into the comments, didn't understand the concept. of what was happening. They were thinking that we were deciding who was the most... They don't know how the feud works? It seemed like they did not. And to be honest, they always call us dumb and arrogant. It feels like they were acting very dumb and arrogant in the comments as well. Now, just let's say they didn't know that. Them talking about some of these soccer players as if America is not a massive country. And, I mean, Yamal was literally walking through Walmart.

1:08:24Pat McAfee:Nobody had a clue. No. You put Messi in some of these cities, walk him down Main Street, and put a hat on him, don't tell anybody. Jeans, too, I can't be seeing his sweet tattoo on his thing. You have him walk down the street here in America, I think he would just get on by in some of these places. I don't think it would be that big of a deal. But we understand globally he is certainly a sensation, and I am a huge fan of his. But them just automatically acting like, hey, America's opinion doesn't matter on who's popular or not. It's like, yeah, we're definitely arrogant. But remember, this is a survey.

1:09:02Pat McAfee:And also, you need to watch how you're talking. Tom Brady was sixth. That's our guy. He's sixth. We don't like that at all. He definitely above your guys in our eyes. It was the people that are surveyed. So I don't think they've really fully understood the concept. No, no, no. Once again, this is when the world's kind of coming together right now. Yeah, I mean, even Mahomes. Like, Mahomes is the biggest star in the biggest league, really, in America, and you can make that argument out of any league because they get 150 million viewers on their Super Bowl. But still, like, even some of the names that seemingly were on there didn't make much sense.

1:09:34Pat McAfee:Where are those numbers coming from, too? Is this Nielsen reporting these? Definitely not anymore. Definitely in America, I understand. But we'll see some of these global numbers, and it'll be like 14.6 billion people watched. Like, well, there isn't that many people. Is there that many people in the – sorry. That was a miscalculation. 4.2 billion watched. It's like, well, who's checking that? I mean, I certainly watched. We all watched. And how long did they watch? What does that mean? How long did they watch? Yeah. Is that part of it? And on that note, we're all all in, so we don't want to start a war with soccer right now.

1:10:03Pat McAfee:But it's like some of the comments need to. They love America right now. They love America. That is a cool thing to see on the Internet, how there's all these people experiencing America for the first time. Like, oh, this place is actually pretty sweet. What have I been paying attention to? People are telling me it sucks. This is awesome over here. Yeah, it was a great weekend, man. It was a great weekend of sports, great week of unification, and straights open, from my understanding. Yeah, that's right. That's good news. Free flow, man. Hey, that's good news. From my understanding, that is good news.

1:10:32Pat McAfee:And I think everybody understands that now, right? Yeah. When maybe people didn't understand that. Yeah, sure. They should maybe think about teaching that to us. Hey, here's this thing right here. It's pretty important. People are going to be real pissed this doesn't. We knew about the canal, but not the straight. Yeah, we know down here, south of us, There's one over there, too. That's pretty important, it sounds like. It sounds like it's pretty important. Got that thing open. Now we know the world is coming together. Huge weekend of new champions being crowned. Obviously, the New York Knicks, the Carolina Hurricanes, Gaethje, gone, new champs, crowned at the White House alone.

1:11:05Pat McAfee:First time ever in the history of a UFC event where everyone ended in a knockout or a TKO. Sick. Just a special weekend of sport. So I put out a poll. I said, excuse me, X, I have a question for all of you. Good morning, beautiful people. So many new champions on this big crown overreaction Monday. Whose fans are you most happy for? At over 1 ,200 votes, it was up for two hours. Not bad numbers. Not a bad pull. 29.1 % in the back-end details had the New York Knicks coming back to dethrone Gaethje and Don, who had a lot of fans voting for them. Soccer was third. And then the Carolina Hurricanes in fourth.

1:11:44Pat McAfee:It's only been 20 years. We don't know what city it's in. I don't want to hear about it, said the pollsters. How about you, AJ? Whose fans are you most happy for after this weekend? Do you match this poll with the New York Knicks, or are you going a different direction? Honestly, I think I match the poll. I think with the New York Knicks, whether you like the Knicks or not, it's just pretty cool to see the city of New York and just everybody there. I know it's easy for some people. They get annoyed by it, I think, if they're not New York people. It's pretty awesome. All of these videos that are coming out, I cannot imagine what the parade will be like.

1:12:15Love seeing the players. I know OG had a great interview earlier. I saw it today. I think Strahan was in on that. The boys seem to be enjoying themselves. And I think the Knicks should be the talk of the town right now.

1:12:26Pat McAfee:OG Kush out there having the time of his life on morning television. Do whatever you need to do. The parade's on Thursday. It's going to be outrageous. And obviously, we hate that this is the case, but it is seemingly a fact. Anytime there's a large gathering, there's going to be people that prey upon that. So there were some negative things, obviously, that come out of large gatherings of humans. That's seemingly going to happen. We hate that it is. But the joy that has seemingly come from these New Yorkers through this Knicks team, because you've got to remember New York, a lot of what? Business, art, music, not really like known to be sports as the driver for business around there.

1:13:03Pat McAfee:It's a lot of different type of investment. Sport being able to bring this type of happiness and unity to that city is special. I loved it as well. And I think that's why I won the poll. Maybe because, you know, people are thinking New York's good. Maybe because people hated Wemby by the end of that entire series. People are calling him a flopper. This guy's dirty. This guy's a flopper. This guy's disrespectful to America. They started all of them on Wemby throughout. I really built a heel arc. So maybe that's why the Knicks. But I was happy as hell for a city coming together. And Bruce, staying up, popping champagne, I was also happy as hell for you, Bruce.

1:13:38Pat McAfee:So congrats to your Knicks fan who win the poll and also the title. Thank you. Yeah, there was one video out of West Village. I mean, it looks like there's almost 100 ,000 people out on the streets. They're all singing Empire State of Mind. Just absolute scenes in New York. I do have a confession on this poll, though. There is a chance that for some reason with like two minutes left, Peter Schrager retweeted the poll to complete the comeback. Who cares? I don't know how that happened. potential tail skipping, scale tipping. But yeah, no, it is... Excuse me? You okay? Big body Peter Schrager. I don't care if they do that.

1:14:19Pat McAfee:I think there were some MMA retweets too for Gaethje, which made a guy quit. That was sick. Huge underdog. Unbelievable. I mean, that was the whole fight from top to bottom. But yes, Gaethje was awesome. Guy's got cinder blocks on his fist. Have you seen the photo of his last four opponents' face whenever he's done with them? Oh, yeah. And that's just late after the fight, let alone like 24 hours after the fight. comes. Gaethje just throws refrigerators at people. Did we know he was like five inches taller than him, too? It felt like Tapori with the weight. The knee to the ribs was just nasty as well.

1:14:47Pat McAfee:Yeah, I mean, this was very late. Obviously, we watched this in the morning and got a chance to catch up with Gaethje last week alongside Ilya. Bang. I mean, that's just a free shot, basically, at Ilya Tapori. Gaethje told Ilya after he said, I know I'm going to hurt you. That's what Ilya said. I'm going to knock off your fucking head in the first round. And Gaethje goes, okay. I've been knocked out. I've been slapped because he said I'm going to do something you never felt before. Gaethje goes okay dude. We're going to have to find out you know. Like that was Gaethje's entire mindset. He's like we're going to find out in there.

1:15:19Pat McAfee:His last fight's boom. Can't paralyze yourself obviously in front of the White House after your biggest win. He becomes champ yet again. He is a stud and he is a good American dream story. And his fists I don't know what he's got. Look at these dudes faces i mean he just beats the shit out of people yeah actually just beats the hell out of people i wonder what it's going to look like today for teporia the next day as your body comes together it's like thank you for signing up to do this for us boys and gaichi you making somebody from another country okay i'm not gonna say foreign because that sounds rude but it is something throw in the towel in a celebration of 250 years of united states of america in the front yard of the White House.

1:16:07Pat McAfee:I don't know if that could have been scripted better for Dana, the president, everything like that. I genuinely don't think especially with him being what, 5-1 underdog? Like that is that's rocky. I mean this is this is America. This is the sun never set on the British Empire, you know? That's what they say. They were dominant. We were just what, 13 colonies? Yep. I mean what a story there. Now granted, a lot of huge nights for a lot of people Diego Lopez starts the entire thing walking out of the White House from Brazil that was kind of an alarming visual for me I'm like are we doing this? Is this what we're going to be doing all night here?

1:16:44Pat McAfee:They did actually turn into something that I love getting to see the White House in a way that I hadn't seen a lot of those parts of the White House maybe in school I read through like in civil what's the class? Civics? Maybe in civics I read through and saw pictures on like page 50 turn to page 54 here you're going to see the blah blah blah room. That's the last time I've seen any of those things, so I felt like I got a good display of it. But there was a lot of... Lopez had a huge night. Gon becomes champ. I mean, congrats to Cyril Gon. Just beats the hell. I mean, did we know he was an absolute monster in there?

1:17:17Pat McAfee:He becomes champion. MMA had a big night. They were so close to winning the poll for good reason. If this was on Saturday night, I'd be pumped up about that. For sure. You know, put that on after the finals. Then we go right into it. Sunday was a little late, but understand there was a couple birthdays. Had to be celebrated. How about you, Tone? Whose fan base are you most happy for? I voted for soccer, just in general. Soccer fans in general because of all the reasons we have talked about already today. Everyone coming over and just having a great time. It's been so incredibly positive. I couldn't go with the Knicks just because they are just a cocky, arrogant bunch who, you know, is coastal elitist who, you know, yeah, it was a small amount.

1:17:54But, yeah, you're burning school buses and destroying your city. I didn't love that. So I couldn't go with them. That's fair.

1:17:59Pat McAfee:Okay, so. It happened. We can't just sweep it under the rug. Did you see the 150 ,000 people going? Yeah, those people aren't Knicks fans. They were wearing Knicks jerseys, and the people that were beating the shit out of Spurs fans were there. They were in Knicks jerseys, but yeah. Okay, I understand that there were certainly some despicable things that were happening afterwards. Did you see the banana toss? No. Exactly. Did that? I saw the... You didn't see the banana toss? I saw the school bus burner. Was that... Okay, did you see the cone toss? Yes, I saw the cone toss. Okay, banana toss, similar.

1:18:31Pat McAfee:Guy throws banana. into crowd okay okay somebody catches it throws it back guy who threw it catches one-handed thought it was ai not ai guy just threw the banana in the crowd go on lads here's the banana little potassium for you coming back don't eat it thanks catches it awesome then the cone thing obviously that happened i saw that one i mean it was there's some magical moments happening out there you We can't let a couple terrible people who do terrible things ruin an overall good thing. But I know we as a society would like to see the terrible things completely disappear. We all would. Exactly.

1:19:08Pat McAfee:We think that it sucks that it happened. But let's not act like the celebration was something that was overall, overwhelmingly negative. I think it was a unifying situation. Hopefully. Remember, Fat Joe said he saw Hasidic Jews dancing down in the Bronx or something like that. I mean, it was a good thing. Thursday, we're going to see a celebration. I just voted soccer because I didn't see any bad things from that. I mean, amen, actually. It's one game. It doesn't really equate to the others. What, soccer? We're talking about the whole thing, yeah. In general, okay, everything in general, but we're still so early on in the World Cup.

1:19:41I mean, we still have time for that thing to grow.

1:19:43Pat McAfee:Yeah, and for terrible moments to happen. We're hoping for none of them, by the way, as a society. Ty, who'd you vote for in the poll? Crazy enough, I also voted for soccer. What? Everybody's pushing soccer, AJ. Well, and it's because, you know, like the Carolina Hurricanes, We could kind of see where that was going after game two. I kind of wrote that off. They're going to win the series. So, you know, I kind of made peace with that weeks ago. The other two, sure, I mean, they were awesome, absolutely. But like I mentioned to Grilla, I absolutely hate soccer. Never played it. Hate watching it, you know, no matter what it is.

1:20:15And, boy, I cannot wait for our game on Friday. I watched the entire game this past Friday. It was on pins and needles. And I think it is because, like we talked about, You know, these previous World Cup teams, it is kind of, it's a boring watch. And it's just like, okay, either we're going to lose a close game to one of these countries that is much more skilled than us. And maybe we'll have like one opportunity to score. And for the first time ever, it was like, oh no, we are the monsters out here. Like we are the people that people are afraid of. And it's awesome to be able to get behind that.

1:20:51I don't know if we've ever actually been able to do that as a country. and then all of this stuff is kind of just a cherry on top of it. And it's one of those things where this happens once every four years. Like, who knows when we will get another World Cup. It might not be in any of our lifetimes. I'm sure it will be because, obviously, people are seeing what happens when it comes to the U.S., but just the fact that it's in our country and it finally feels like we have a horse who could make a deep run, like, I'm all in.

1:21:16Pat McAfee:I think fresh out of the Olympics, too, we understand how to act like United States fans. Sure. A lot of people tuned into a hockey game, or a couple of them for the women and the men and the Paralympic team had no idea what hockey was. Yeah, exactly. Had no clue what hockey was, but we won. So there's a lot of people who are just like, ha, better than Canada. Yeah. Just like we thought, best in the world. I feel like people are having that same reaction. Almost the Olympics obviously carried into the NHL. They had the highest ratings that they've ever had, more interest than they've ever had.

1:21:43Pat McAfee:Obviously, the Hurricanes win. And there's a couple, who won, Larkin? No, sorry, not Larkin. Larkin wants out. Who won Slavin Sorry Slavin, Mr. Slavin Wins Olympic gold and Stanley Cup in the same year Obviously there's only a certain amount of people That have done that because both come so Irregularly or whatever the case is But I think Olympic fever Started this entire thing And then if the boys would have lost to Paraguay there Yeah, not good, I'm out I think it's over Official out if they lose to Paraguay there Yeah, not watching another game Don't give a shit but when they win and they win the way they do, it's like, get me on the pitch.

1:22:24I'll do whatever Posh needs me to do.

1:22:26Pat McAfee:And we were so lucky to be there. And the vibes. Yeah, how were the fans compared to like, because, you know, like international fans have, they have crazy stuff going on over there. Was SoFi like that? Yeah, we had USA chants going, a lot of energy. There was drums, obviously. Any Vuvuzelas? Yeah, Vuvuzelas certainly inside and outside of the stadium. him i'll tell you what if you show up like 30 minutes late but like 10 minutes into the game it's pretty easy getting in i bet yeah it was actually pretty easy for us to get in there but everybody's seemingly much more dressed up than me too that was i think i was supposed to be in the upper bowl where uh there was a lot of party happening or in the thing there i was certainly outdressed everywhere in there and the internet let me know that but just know in real in real time i was experiencing that as well uh but it felt like everybody was there it felt like Everybody was there.

1:23:17Pat McAfee:Gorilla talked about the prices of these tickets. I hate that this is becoming a thing. Seemingly every sporting event that is of any type of matter or anything like that has gotten to the point where the prices are outrageous. All these people are trying to run a business, though. Supply, demand, if they're able to get that, they're going to. It just kind of sucks that we're at this stage because you probably do leave out an incredible amount of fans that could help the atmosphere. I don't know how they took care of the U.S. soccer fans. There's a fan base. I believe that we they had a huge portion so I don't know if maybe Team USA bought that for them or if they were able to do that because it did feel alive even though it certainly was a bit sooty it was certainly a bit sooty but it did feel alive AJ our team was so dominant too you got to do stuff like we're going to celebrate every pass that gets in in order in concession I don't know what it is usually they're doing that to us Other teams are doing that to us where they're playing keep away from us around the field.

1:24:19Pat McAfee:As opposed, it was us doing a hey, hey. It's fun to watch them put pressure on them the whole time. Like everything that Paraguay, it just was hard to do the simple things that feel like for Paraguay. Yeah, simple things were hard. For us, the hard things were seemingly simple. And if it didn't look that, we weren't scared to reset it. A couple passes all the way back to the goalie. Got a big applause. Like, yeah, boys. Let's settle. Let's settle. Yeah, yeah, smart play. It was cool, man. And Bruce even said it, when you're live watching it, you can see how people fall in love with it. You can see how the moniker of the beautiful game happens, especially if our team's going to play the way that they were playing.

1:24:55Pat McAfee:But it did feel like an out-of-body experience almost in there, Bruce. Yeah, I haven't been to a ton of soccer matches, but it blew me away. It was absolutely amazing. And I actually found on a video I had the moment of the ref saying, one more shot here. One more. One more. One more. You got one more. One more, boys. Good luck. He's basically telling the boys, good luck. And then we just start playing keep away. And we could have done whatever we wanted here, like it was TST. And then Reyna gets the rock and he's like, actually, I'm going to finish this right now. Could have passed that like two, three more times if he wanted to.

1:25:31Pat McAfee:Instead, let's end this game. I'm going to go put a nasty swerve in. And then the ref was like, all right, fair up. That's it. That's the game. Let's get the fuck out of here. And the boys did all four sides. Oh, I love that. Fan stayed. I mean, fan stayed the entire time. It was like a party in there. And I don't know... Seattle should be awesome, too. I don't know if we're going to make Seattle so far away. Very far. Do we play at noon? Should they play LA, Chicago, New York? Team USA? That'd be cool. 3 Eastern on Friday. The Riverhound Stadium. Play there. That was packed on Friday. There was videos.

1:26:08Watch along?

1:26:10Pat McAfee:That's incredible. Yeah, so it might be soccer's time. Okay, let's talk about some other things happening around the sports world. The Seattle Superhawks. Yep. I like that name. Hey, the Seattle Superhawks got their C-Bowls and rings, and I'll tell you, they are beautiful. They got some power, they got some action, and they were dropped in from the sky as if they were lights. We understand that the Super Bowl ring presentation has become its own celebration. We understand that Super Bowl rings have become actual engineering and creation. I forget which team it was that started doing a stadium inside of the ring telling stories.

1:26:48Pat McAfee:There was somebody that did two rings within one ring. So you had an outside ring and a celebration ring. It's really modern. This one flaps wings. We got wings to go out, has a completely different ring. And the Seattle Seahawks had a chance to celebrate that magical run they had last year with Sam Darnold in his first year. mcdonald as his second year head coach out there a brand new franchise as john schneider gets a chance to celebrate the second title that he's basically built from scratch what a beautiful thing in the ring symbolizes all of that it's also the final time you can look back on last year connor you guys were so close to those rings how was it seeing all the clips come out especially with how happy the lads are over there oh it was great just to watch it and just relive that night where I basically blacked out after the second half.

1:27:35But no, it is one of those things. Every time the ring comes out, it is just so cool because you remember how intricate they are. You mentioned the ring inside the ring. I think the Thunder did that last year where like, hey, if you're going to an event, you don't want to wear the big-ass ring. Here's this tiny one. I think the Tampa Bay Bucs, when they won during COVID, is when they kind of developed that, hey, open this bitch up. You thought the outside was cool. Look on the inside. They got all the teams they beat, all those things. So it is sweet, and it is also a reminder that we are very, very close to football coming back.

1:28:06We're damn near halfway through the offseason in total.

1:28:10Pat McAfee:I don't want to, like, alarm you, AJ, but it's June 15th. Soon it'll be July. It will be soon. Okay, happy birthday to America. 250 years for the July. Okay, love that. What's after July? August. Camp. What's in August? Training camp. Go to camp, baby. We are. We're here. We're basically there. Yeah, we are there.

1:28:37Pat McAfee:Thank you to all these sports right now. Well, what's nice is the World Cup. Bingo. Carry it because normally, not that baseball wouldn't carry it. It would be only baseball until football season. July 19th is World Cup Final. Is that right? Great question. Dang. I think that sounds right. Yeah, because it was in like six weeks or so. I don't know. Yeah, July 19th. How many games to win at all? How many do you have to win? Six? Seven? You have the round of 32. You can lose one or two, right? Well, in this opening round here, so we win, okay, Australia beats Turkey, so that's obviously gigantic.

1:29:06Pat McAfee:We got Australia in Seattle on Friday. If we win that game, we're going to advance, okay? So technically, against Turkey, we could play some other guys to get an extra break, but I assume we want to win that so we get a higher seed so then in the next round we get a shittier team. So it's like you can lose, I guess. There are times where you can lose early. Germany might be able to after they put up a seven-burger on a team and they're plus six-point differential right now. They could potentially rest for their third game. But then once you get in, there's how many games? I think it's five knockout games because it's the round of 32, 16, eight semis, and then the final.

1:29:43Pat McAfee:So eight games in total. Yeah. Three and then five. Because of the more teams, you have more leeway to lose or draw matches and still make it to the knockout round. Gumpy, tell me a little bit about that. You used to be 32 in the World Cup. now it's 48 there's a lot of uproar over it and now that we're here and more teams are involved in it who haven't been there before and you've seen their culture at the games it actually has been very cool to watch and there's been a lot of goals there hasn't been a zero zero draw yet like right now capo verde is playing spain i think they were i think spain was what is that minus 1600 capo verde i looked it up has a is a nation of 500 000 people and it's zero zero in the 70th minute.

1:30:23Wow. They never would have made it before.

1:30:25Pat McAfee:USA showed up. Now, these teams can obviously get better as they go on. Teams can find it as they're kind of getting in, but we didn't expect America to show up on day one being as good as they are. I think the teams that inevitably win it are good on day one, too. Are they not, Gumby? I don't think there's the stumble-out-the-gates teams that end up going on to win it. You would know the history, obviously, better than me. Yeah, the hot start is pretty big in the World Cup, generally. Yeah, it seemingly indicates who. Germany scored seven, though. We can't get to. That USA team, you look at their lineup, though, everybody knows their role.

1:30:58And the big question mark coming in, everyone was like, can Malik Tillman play in this holding midfielder role? And he was lights out in that game. I don't think you might not have seen it on TV, but the amount of running and his work rate the whole game was incredible to watch.

1:31:12Pat McAfee:We are not allowed to show highlights. Sure. That's tough. Yeah. That doesn't help grow the game. Just still show. I get it. Fox pays a lot of money. A lot. And also, they're live right now. so if we're showing highlights there's two tvs yeah and we're showing highlights and they got a game on and ours is usa playing and there's a spain and hey i'm over it i understand i i understand why they're doing it don't love though that we can't you know don't love that we can't because balik so sick baligan everybody's talking about reina obviously as we should balakin beating in the box, speed, left boot, bend, upper 90.

1:31:49Pat McAfee:That was nasty. That is so sick. Pull sick to split the guys for the first. Unbelievable. The own goal in there. Yeah. And then there was a... Balogun would have had a hat-trick. He had a goal called back. Clearly off sides. But he would have had... He scored two goals in like a three-minute period or whatever. That's not how soccer's supposed to go. No. I think his golden boot went from plus 100 ,000-something to 1 ,600 or something like that. Now what... Yet to be seen. Leo? No, is our team, is the same guy going to go next? Or is he, I think that could potentially be one of those, like, kind of have it your way here.

1:32:25Pat McAfee:Could be anything. Because, like, Weston McKinney, he got the credit, I think, for the own goal first. He's everywhere. From watching him, he is everywhere. I assume he's going to get on the board a couple times, if I had to guess just from watching him. And then Chris Richards in the back. He won the U.S. Soccer Player of the Year Award. We got to bring him to him. This is the guy. Who's he playing for? Crystal Palace? Yeah, Crystal Palace. He's in the back. He is. He's unbelievable. And there was injury questions leading up to it with his ankle. Thank God he played. He was talking shit to Reams with one of his passes.

1:33:03Pat McAfee:I respected it. I loved it. Reamer slipped and fell, which, once again, he's bigger on the field. We talk about the grass. he slipped and fell on the ground while he had it it got over to chris richards richards they talk about 83 of 83 passes or whatever one of them was him hitting it back at ream basically saying get the fuck up and it was awesome it was it was in real time you see him he pings this ball at ream ream's on his knees this ball is coming like skipping off the grass it's like holy shit that's a little firm there ream cop gets up settles it no problem let's go ahead and pass this thing off It's like everybody's on the same page.

1:33:38Pat McAfee:Everybody's playing. I think we're going to win. I don't want to continue to talk about it because it's hard not to, but we went from the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl rings back to Team USA. Kind of happy. Oh, yeah. It's hard not to do that. It is hard not to do that. Okay, let's talk a little bit about the College World Series. Omaha has been hosting the College World Series since 1950. Okay, 76 years. And one field is used at Omaha Mutual. Charles Schwab. There it is, Charles Schwab Stadium. Got a chance to be there? That's beautiful. Yeah, it's an unbelievable ballpark. I mean, gorgeous, gorgeous ballpark.

1:34:16Pat McAfee:And you can tell that the players appreciate that they're there. You know, like you can tell that there is very much a respect, an understanding of what the fuck's going on here, how lucky everybody is to be there. I mean, in North Carolina, Tar Heel, Guzman's stealing home. I called it. I don't want to say I'm a super baseball guy, but, I mean, I called this thing. and this was in the first inning of the first College World Series game in the history of the West Virginia Mountaineer baseball program. And Guzman steals first to second, then I think he gets to third somehow over to overthrow, and then he steals home.

1:34:47Pat McAfee:It's like, yes, that's baseball. That's fun baseball. I think Troy should have known he was going to steal home, though. I mean, he was halfway to home on the pitch before. Halfway to home as the guy was pitching. You could tell he was kind of sensing, can I time this guy up or not? And then usually when the catcher throws it back to the pitcher, the guy on base normally goes back to the base, right? Never even went back to the base. Like never even went back, just kind of sat in the middle. And that's when I told Bruce, I'm like, Guzman was like all the way at home last time. And then we thought, well, he's going to go if there's like a miss or a drop ball or something like that.

1:35:22Pat McAfee:Nah, he was just timing it up to steal home. Magical. We lose to UNC. UNC's the team here. Is that what we need to be thinking? Because I saw a true freshman came in through 97, like nine straight times. and our guys had no idea what was happening. Is that who we need to be banking on? I don't really think I've seen the other side. UNC and Georgia were the favorites coming in, plus 275, both of them. UNC is unbelievable. Anytime this freshman comes into a game, they are 27-0. And then Georgia's pitcher, I can't remember his name, but I believe he had a complete game win as well. 15 strikeouts.

1:35:55Yeah, so they were awesome to start. They were your favorites coming in.

1:35:59Pat McAfee:Yeah, and that pitcher from Georgia, I saw a picture of him pitching. I guess he has that thing all the way out here, and there's like a 95-mile-an-hour slider he's throwing out here. I guess with the way the stadium is built for righties, that ball is coming out of like section 314 or something like that, and it kind of gets up on top of you quick. It feels like the park long. Yep. I think Ravi said it was like center fielder black hole, or center field black hole. Somebody hit like 390 or something, but it didn't go all the way out. It feels like you've got to have great pitching, got to have great fielding in this entire thing.

1:36:34Pat McAfee:West Virginia kind of messed up on both of those against UNC, but UNC didn't have any mistakes, it felt like. Is that the key to this? Is this not making critical errors at the right time? Or why do you win in Omaha? Why do you lose in Omaha? Yeah, definitely not making mistakes because as we've seen in a lot of these games, they're close games and it comes down to a couple runs. In that Troy and West Virginia game, you remember Troy had a couple errors in the first inning that kind of allowed West Virginia to get on the board early. that ends up being a two-run game. Two of those runs are unearned.

1:37:06It's one of those things where anyone can win because of the metal bats. You mentioned it. The field is not super long down the lines, but it is pretty big in center. Last night North Carolina and West Virginia you see that ball, like you're saying, gets caught in no man's land there. It's like, do I want to lay out and dive for this or do I want to settle and maybe hold this to one run? Paul Schoenfeld, He lays out, and then you get a situation like that where both runs are going to score. But like most things in baseball, unless you have an unbelievable offense, which a lot of these teams do, it's always going to come back to pitching and defense.

1:37:44If you have a guy who's throwing 100 miles an hour and throwing a mid-to-high 90s off-speed, quote-unquote off-speed pitch, more times than not, that guy is going to be able to dominate, like the kid from Georgia did. He had 15 strikeouts. That's a school record for them. So we'll see because once you get into these single elimination situations too, literally anything can happen. The kid who was at Chanson. Cole. Yeah, Chanson Cole for West Virginia. I would assume he's going to go again for them against Troy. But then again, you never know because Troy just saw him pitch a couple days ago and they're probably going to go with the bullpen game.

1:38:22So it's literally anything can happen. And then the winner of that is going to have to beat UNC twice potentially to get to the championship. So that's where it really, like, if you haven't lost yet, you are in the driver's seat.

1:38:33Pat McAfee:I decided not to wear Jordans today. There you go. Okay? Because we're going to have to beat UNC twice. Yeah, in solidarity. Take it into the finals. Now, Troy's got a good baseball team, great fan base. We got to see a lot of their fans out the night before the game on Thursday night. It was nice to see their culture of baseball.

1:38:57Pat McAfee:Joining us now is a man who's been with ESPN since 1993. A man who was on the call for the UNC-West Virginia game last night. And I assume for the next 10 days he'll be on the call for every big game. Legend, friend of the program, ladies and gentlemen, Carl Rabbit. Hey, Carl Rabbit. Hey, boys. It is good to see you all again. Obviously, you're not here this time. But you'll be back here when they're playing in the College World Series Finals. I know you will, McAfee. You'll be back here. Yeah, definitely. I'll tell you what, when I talked to you that morning, I was planning on never going back to that place ever again.

1:39:28Pat McAfee:You know, that was kind of my fault. After I get publicly called out to donate and give hundreds of thousands of dollars and basically told that I'm some punk whenever I show up there, it was like, okay, interesting place, interesting place here. And then we walk around, you know, and before the game, we had to do the show so we didn't get to really feel, you know. We kind of go from hotel straight to there. And I was, fun little story about Thursday night. I was in bed. I was in bed. The boys were at Jell-O Shots place. And I was like, I'm calling in and I got a couple of texts. They're like, come on, how many times are you going to come to the College World Series?

1:40:03Pat McAfee:This is West Virginia's first time. I'm like, you're right. We got to go win this thing. So literally bed to that place and basically walk hotel to, I hadn't really felt it. Then I get into that stadium. Man, everybody working in that stadium has so much pride for everything that's happening there. There's two holding rooms. There's two locker rooms. Every game is played there. So there's a lot of action, a lot of movement. Fans have to leave. Fans have to come back in. All the fans that are there, some of them have been there every single year for like 30, 40 years. Some of them pick up teams because they're from Omaha, just want to go to the game.

1:40:34Pat McAfee:So they're adopting teams. And then obviously getting to see the baseball culture in its full, it was spectacular. I love the vibes. I will be back for West Virginia for anything that they play along with. I did contribute to the jelly, jello shot thing. So I feel like I did do it all, but I loved it. Ravi, can you tell me about this year a little bit? Because obviously it's our first year really paying attention to it because West Virginia is there. Has this been a good year for the World Series? Feels like every time I turn it on, something magical is taking place. Yeah, it's been a great year.

1:41:04And again, look, having you here is really important. It helps. It's just another level for the College World Series. This is a city like Williamsport, because I do the Little League, that really embraces the event. I mean, Omaha has been the host of this thing for half a century. downtown the last 20 or so years. Yeah, it is one of the neatest events. And to your point, when you have a Troy or West Virginia here, if you do come to Omaha and you're a fan of just baseball, you tend to side with the teams that have the longest odds. You tend to side with Troys. You hop on the West Virginia bandwagon.

1:41:41Country Roads has turned everything around, man. I mean, that's turned college baseball fans on their head. And if they can win and you can be a part of that, then they're all in on that. And look, I think you guys have talked about it. I saw the segment before it came on. You make mistakes at this level against really good teams, opportunistic teams like Carolina, you're going to lose. And those errors last night killed them. And they don't ever make those errors. And I heard one of your guys talk about just the vastness of center field. It is massive out there. That ball was up there forever off the bat of Gallagher, and Schoenfeld couldn't get to it.

1:42:19But again, it was the two errors that led to the two guys on, which led to the two runs. You play a clean game, and you're West Virginia, and Saban's got this group fired up, and they've overachieved maybe. I think they're achieving to their level because they're damn good players. They play great defense. Hall is so good at third. It was such an aberration. Double play ball, maybe you rush it a little bit. But all the things that you touched on and started to experience, we've been experiencing for 20 years. And, yes, the quality of the game and the field is only getting better. Only Carolina's been here the last three years twice.

1:42:57Other than that, you've got 23 new teams over the last three years. Very few championships can say that.

1:43:04Pat McAfee:Unbelievable. Go ahead, AJ. Yeah, Ravi, can you tell us a little bit about some of the stars that are playing in the tournament right now that we might get to watch sometime in the near future playing in the major leagues? Yeah, for sure. So you guys talked about Joey Volchko from Georgia, who threw the other night. Fifteen strikeouts, threw a slider from hell. Couldn't get anybody to get a good piece of metal or aluminum on it. So he comes in. Kyler McDaniel is one of our draft experts. He's got him ranked, I think, as the number 27 guy here at the College World Series. That's changing. Like he he's rising.

1:43:40So there's been a whole bunch of history of guys that show up here. Thatcher Hur did it a few years ago as a pitcher. We saw Gage Wood for Arkansas last year throw a no hitter stock rises. So, A, you get here and you can be on a launching pad. And then tonight you're going to watch Georgia. They've got a catcher, Daniel Jackson, who's sweeping all the postseason awards. He's going to win the Golden Spikes Award, which is equivalent to the Heisman in college football. He's won the Buster Posey Award because he plays catcher. He's the best catcher. Setting records. We'll end up with a triple crown in the SEC, which is unheard of.

1:44:20He'll be at the major league level shortly. There's a whole bunch. Aiden Robbins, who plays for Texas. Kelly, who plays for West Virginia. All these dudes will be at the Major League level. And guys, you're seeing it happen much quicker. Pat, you know this. J.J. Weatherholt was playing for the Mountaineers yesterday. Now he's killing it at the Major League level. So a bunch of these guys will be there shortly.

1:44:43Pat McAfee:Yeah, Skeeno, I think he was like four or five months removed from Omaha to Pittsburgh for the Pirates. Young guys taking over. Obviously, it's a young man's game, always going to be. We ran into this guy in the hotel, in the bathroom, actually, and we were washing hands next to each other. And he goes, hey, how you doing, Pat? I go, great, man. How are you doing? Very tall, handsome, clearly in shape. He had to be a baseball player of some sort. I said, how you doing? He said, good, man. I said, who do you play for? He said, UNC. I go, oh. He goes, we're probably going to have to play your Mountaineers or whatever.

1:45:19Pat McAfee:I was like, you're going to get your ass kicked, so it doesn't matter. And he laughed, obviously. we walked outside and uh he was like can i get a photo with you guys i was like sure man no problem so we took a photo with him and i just looking at him i'm like we should get a photo with this guy too i think i think we should i didn't know who the fuck he was at the time i do not know college baseball i am open and i am sorry about that i'm only in because the mountaineers run i love that west virginia's getting a shine i love what sabins and maizey have created so i'm a supporter of that i don't know college baseball anywhere near as much as i should but i think i'm trying to learn so we took a selfie with him and then your entire every package unc west virginia package everything was this guy owen this is owen hall center fielder i believe for unc he's the one this is like the one for them right i learned that through the video packages like wait let's see what owen does i'm like fuck i should have definitely known who this guy was but he was that picture he looks the part like he he certainly looks the part in it all he's gonna be a guy too right he's going to the show Oh, he's absolutely going to the show.

1:46:22And he's one of those guys in every sport, and you certainly see it with football and quarterbacks especially. Guys slow the game down. Owen Hulls, I don't think the heart beats. I mean, I don't. I think he got up last night and just sort of flicked one into left field. He had four doubles in the super regional clinching game, including the walk-off. He's the guy that comes up with the big hits. And there are certain dudes that you know belong at the next level. Owen Hull is absolutely one of those guys. Gavin Kelly of West Virginia is one of those guys. They just look better. They feel better.

1:46:59You watch them play the game. There's a real sort of low, slow heartbeat. And then there's a guy like Kenny Ishikawa, who will hit fifth for Georgia. You need a bat on a ball, he'll do it for you. He gets overshadowed in a lineup that's hit 170-plus homers this season. And all he does is hit in the middle of the order. And if you need run scored, he does it. Save that picture. Owen Hall will be an absolute first-round pick. He is a stud.

1:47:28Pat McAfee:That was just strictly off of the vibes. Just strictly off of looking at him, the vibes he gets. This guy's super confident. By the way, Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout. It's a big deal. He's a black belt. Black belt and taekwondo. Both his folks are involved with that. Like, literally the guy. We all grew up with a dude who, when you said, you remember, like, the best athlete in your school ever. and I think like, oh yeah, Jimmy Saka was that guy. Like, irritatingly good at everything. Owen Hull was the kid that was great at everything and still is. I love that Jimmy just got a shout out in this conversation.

1:48:00Pat McAfee:He really did some shit. Now think about him and crap. Ravi, you're looking at this guy. Of course. My man. Jimmy. But yeah, literally had no idea. Strictly, yeah, obviously he's a black belt. Obviously he's good at everything. I mean, you could feel it whenever he was just standing there. It just kind of radiated from him. man Owen hey hate what you did to the Mountaineers love that we got a photo and got to meet you in the bathroom not weird at all not weird at all I appreciate it Ty has a question for you Ravi Ravi obviously Georgia and North Carolina have a pretty good grasp on this thing so far but of all the one loss teams that are remaining which one do you think could make this very interesting and potentially kind of push to get into that final series yeah I mean look I really do love the West Virginia story.

1:48:46I love everything about savings. I would think that I would, I would take Texas. I saw them a lot this year. The last two starts that Dylan Volantis, who arguably is the best pitcher and he's coming back next year. He's, he's still young. He's not draft eligible. He's had a couple of bumpy starts. I think if any team with the depth of their offense. We haven't seen Sam Cozart, who is a bear of a freshman, literally like, you know, 6 '4", 270, brother plays at the next level. I think it's Texas. And you talk about the top three in their lineup. They have Aiden Robbins, who's an absolute major league baseball player.

1:49:30He reminds a lot of people that Chris Taylor, the very versatile guy, played for the Dodgers for a long time. Carson Tinney is one of the catchers that's in this year's draft, a long line of catchers that are going to impact the major leagues at the next level. Just a stud, especially offensively. And then Anthony Pack Jr. is a freshman. Like we've saw, and you guys know this, you watched the game last night, Caden Glober, who closed the game, should be a high school senior. He should be a high school senior just graduating, going on senior trip. And he is as composed as anybody that's thrown a baseball on this field and he's like 17 years old i didn't know he was 17

1:50:09Pat McAfee:i knew he's a true freshman i thought to myself what a bunch of idiots they put a true freshman out here in the ninth inning we're not out of this we got we got home run we tie this thing up this is what the mountaineers have done they put a freshman out there in my head i'm like savings they're spitting in your face right now in your team culture then he gets up there yeah right This kid's 17th, throwing 97 in the same exact spot. I mean. Yeah, he's scary, man. He's scary. And the other point was Anthony Pack, who plays for Texas, plays left field, hits third, is a freshman. He hits in the middle of the order, had the best batting average of any player in the SEC, and he's a freshman.

1:50:47That's the point about Weatherholt and these other guys. It's not only that you graduate college or leave as a junior and get drafted and make an impact. Kids are leaving high school. some leaving early and make an impact in the best conference that there is in college baseball.

1:51:05Pat McAfee:McDuffie kid there's something in his glasses. Did you guys check for AI in there? Did you check for any of those? Because you know they got these glasses with AI right now. Meta is actually giving them to all the blind vets. Have you heard about this? Congratulations. UFC and Meta I believe they're donating AI glasses to blind veterans I do believe. So they have this technology. This kid's allowed to wear AI on his face while he's out there pitching. Is this getting checked? He was unbelievable. He had the ball on a string, actually had the ball on a string the entire night watching him. I think he should not be allowed to wear those.

1:51:40Pat McAfee:I think we got to check those with the modern technology, Ravi. It's the reverse. It's the reverse Steve Austin. Remember the$6 million man? You know, he could sort of see through some fake eye that he had. Yeah, maybe that works for him. I will say this. He was a shortstop in high school. He tore his ACL, decided, you know what, I'm going to go to the mound. And he turns out throwing baseballs like this. This is why Carolina is one of the teams that a lot of people look at as one that's going to get to the College World Series finals. That and the fact that Texas and Georgia are on the same side of the bracket and Carolina is not.

1:52:16They have three great pitchers. Your boy Glauber may end up starting their next game to get them into the finals. or they decide, you know what, if we can win the next game, we could start him in game one of the finals, which would be a big advantage to go with the other dudes they have.

1:52:30Pat McAfee:Let's see who they're playing, okay? Let's see who they're playing. Troy just knocked out Ole Miss. I heard that wasn't supposed to happen. No. I heard that was not supposed to happen. In West Virginia, for the first time in a long time, got punched right in the mouth with their own mistakes. Yeah. Let's see how they respond. It was a close game all night. Mazie said he wants blue-collar boys only, right? Yes, he does. Tough guys, right? Let's see if they're mentally tough or is the moment too big for them in their first trip to Omaha? we shall see ravi we appreciate the hell out of you man for joining us and also for voicing over these magical moments from momaha for so long we are very lucky to experience it we cannot wait to get back out there i can't wait to see you all out here thanks very much for having me again thank you did you move your microphone because at the beginning you had a shadow on your mic that looked like you had a piece of black tape on your face yeah there is that better yep maybe i can hide behind it.

1:53:17Oh, like the neighboring

1:53:18Pat McAfee:Home Improvement. Wilson. Wilson over there. Kevin Durant going into that one restaurant. You're the man, ladies and gentlemen, Carl Rabbit. Yay, Robbie! That was comedy, by the way. We haven't really talked about that. KD, you are fucking hilarious. You are hilarious. You need to know that. Did we not talk about anything? Spain and Curacao just officially tied. 0-0. Holy That might be one of the biggest upsets of all time. Well, I guess it wins. That's their soccer, by the way. 0-0? 0-0. So there's not a goal in every single match? That ruins it. The Louisville Knights won the UFSX. They're the kings.

1:53:58Pat McAfee:Be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We'll see you tomorrow. We appreciate the hell out of you. Goodbye. All right. Sugar Sean threw a guy's face. He's back. Great intro. Everything. Yeah, he did good. Tyson Fury killed it. Yeah. Well, what the fuck was that? So why was Tyson Fury? Like a 10-minute walkout and then an interview. I don't think I fully. So he's fighting Anthony Joshua. Maybe. Maybe. That was the only miss from last night. I felt like I was in bizarro world when that was happening. Yeah, because he was clearly supposed to come out and make an announcement.

1:54:39Pat McAfee:That's why he gets the full big intro. Yes. The only people getting these intros, fighters, president, and Tyson Fury, and two heroes, three heroes sometimes alongside the fighters. Those are the people getting to walk out of the fucking White House at the 250th birthday. And also, see, Tyson Fury. Damn. I was like, is Tyson Fury about to walk into the octagon right now? Like, what the fuck's going on? I don't think anybody expected Tyson Fury to walk out of their shadows in a White House. What point of the night was this? I'll say like 65-70 % of the way through after the Chandler fight I think after the third fight on the card they might have kept it in the back pocket if there was a bunch of knockouts and maybe guys had to warm up earlier which could have potentially happened they're trying to fill time so maybe this was one of those but Tyson Fury I think in his first trip back to America in a long time gets introduced coming out of the White House and he walks all the way up to John Anik incredible job Anik hey you cut a couple promos about the United States of America that were obviously well thought out, obviously free from the brain.

1:55:43Pat McAfee:There wasn't a teleprompter being read. Massive respect for all that. Joe and Dana Cormier calling a huge moment, being the soundtrack of that entire thing. The live music with the live singing, all of it. Phenomenal through that. This made no sense. He comes out and goes, maybe Dana will make an announcement. I'm going to leave that to Dana. And then Dana comes out. He's like, we got one coming later. It's like, how was this? How was this? So what was this? Hey, I think Tyson Fury is fighting on a Zufa card. Okay. Sounds like it. To not fight in August. Is that what everybody on earth just was like, is that what you guys were trying to say there?

1:56:16Pat McAfee:Tyson Fury just has an appreciation for what he's done. He just gets to walk out of the White House on 250. I was very confused. Very confused. But that's Tyson Fury football. Exactly. And aside from that, that was the only one. Legit, everything else. Everything else was unbelievable. That flyover, dude. Dana. Dana. That was awesome. Oh, my God. This is the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life. Zac Brown with the band was awesome. Great fit. Pastrana and the boys are on Saturday. They were just doing flippy. Price smart. They were doing flippy floppies. They're on Saturday for the festival, obviously, which led off to it.

1:56:49Pat McAfee:And$90 ,000 at the Ellipse Park across. Is that over a two-day span? Is that what we're assuming? It looks like one of those deals. Assuming total. But there were still a lot of people there last night, but$90 ,000. I appreciated the fighters going across the street onto the stage. and the stage was built for them to come out there and do that so i like that that was the forethought like hey fighters then also go across street go say thank you to everybody that's here because the weigh-ins the amount of people that were at the weigh-ins was absurd because there's people wondering like uh how big of an event it was going to be how is it there was obviously a lot of criticism of this particular event i think the straight being announced that it was open like 20 minutes before this event happening i think took away a lot of tension potentially from a lot of people that were maybe even there or maybe they were potentially talking about it.

1:57:33Pat McAfee:There's still a lot of world problems going on that maybe we should take care of instead of worrying about a fight in our front yard, okay, is what some people would say. But I think that success happening, that signing of the straight opening right before it and then the weather holding off and then the spectacle being awesome, you couldn't help but watch that no matter what side of the aisle you're on and say, like, that was a fucking hell of an event. That was, the White House looks sweet. I mean, it looked sweet. And every fight was a knockout. Yeah. That's all you want. If they do not keep the claw up, which I know that's been rumored that they might keep this up, where does it go?

1:58:13You can't just scrap that thing.

1:58:15Pat McAfee:So Dana said it was from Europe, and then they had to build it in Philly. Then they had to drive it into D.C. or whatever because it was so big. So I don't know if it just becomes a gift like the Statue of Liberty. Is that what people are thinking? It would fit over the dome if we wanted to. Over a Thunderdome? Mm-hmm. Oh. That wouldn't be bad, like a roll cage for the Thunderdome. Yeah. Dana, text. Send him a text. I did potentially talk. Dana was at the hospital on Friday, Walter Reed. That was Friday right before we went into the game. He was visiting with a bunch of troops and vets and everything.

1:58:47Pat McAfee:And the showcase of the veterans, by the way, and the troops that was taking place at that exact time, through it all, I'm happy they got a night. Mm-hmm. You know, because obviously a lot of them probably massive UFC fans just naturally in their trade and that whole thing. Yeah, I got a chance to chat with Dana on Friday as he was going through the hospital saying what's up and saying thanks to everybody. It really felt like they pulled it off. Oh, yeah, considering how it could. I mean, they were acting like the weather was going to ruin everything and how humid it was supposed to be and the bugs and everything.

1:59:18Yeah, the wind. None of that stuff came through on the broadcast. Until they kind of did the big pan out and you see everything, It was like, oh, you could, if you didn't know any better, it'd be like, oh, this is at Caesar's Palace or this is in the apex or, you know, whatever.

1:59:32Pat McAfee:Dana, I'll never do it again. But yeah, happy we did it. I'll never do the sphere again. Happy we did it. Yeah. Okay. 60 million. We're a publicly traded company now. We're just publicly telling people, yeah, we're fucking losing our ass on this thing. That's normally not great. But it does feel like Dana is somebody that if he has a vision, he's going to do it. And I hope it was exactly what he hoped for. I don't know how it could have got better. Yeah, exactly. It felt like everything went off perfectly. Fights especially. Like the most important thing, all went great. Sugar Sean's back. That's good for him.

2:00:10Pat McAfee:Him being able to knock somebody out because there was a worry if the right hand from Sugar Land could still do the job. You know? And guess what? He looked good from the start, man. He looked really in control, looked comfortable, like he was off. Yeah, and also this guy, Canadian National Anthem. Okay, to start it all off. All right. Okay. I don't know if Sugar Sean felt the same way I did. It was blaring. Did you see that and hear that, Andrew? Oh, yeah. I mean, that's a choice, right? That was a decision that was made. Certainly. It's like, all right, I respect it for your country. I do. I respect you doing that for your country.

2:00:50Pat McAfee:See also, Sugar Sean. This guy needs to be slept. This can't be happening at our White House. No, no, no, no. Can't happen. Shout out to Canada, by the way. Created a lot of great things. See also. That was the choice. What was it? They played an arena singing the Canadian National Anthem? I didn't see it. That's what it felt like. This isn't the U.S. band. They're not doing this. Yeah, there's no way. And there's no way that the troops and everybody that was there are like, all right, let's sing it for this guy. I don't think there was any of that. I don't think there was any of that happening.

2:01:31Pat McAfee:So that was a decision that was obviously Dana, by the way. Dana just says you could say, do whatever. You could say, do whatever the fuck you want. I thought that was a hell of a healed decision, though, to run the Canadian National Anthem Arena sing-along version and then come on out to Drake, obviously, more Canadian, which Drake is obviously a great American asset as well. Shebang on everybody's post for everything right now. I didn't know that he had three albums. All of them had hits on him, I guess. Ricky Martin. She banged, she banged. Oh, baby, she moved. That's not Ricky. Is that what you're talking about?

2:02:09Pat McAfee:When she looks like a heart, she sings like a bee. The young girl in history. She banged, she banged. Oh, baby, when she moved, she moved. No. Shebang. Oh, okay. Shebang. S-H-A bang. Like the whole shebang? That's sick. Yeah. It is. It's everywhere. I didn't know Drizzy had three different genres he was going to do that in, but he certainly did. Ricky Martin had that type of pace at one point. Yes, he did. Here we go. Ole, ole, ole. Go, go, go. Ole, ole, ole. Tonight's the night. We've come to celebrate. Here we go. Ole, ole, ole. I think that was a World Cup song. It definitely should have been.

2:02:58Top of Life. It should be now. He performed Cup of Life at the Victoria's Secret fashion show 2006. It was unbelievable. Unbelievable. 2006.

2:03:06Pat McAfee:Yeah, we remember. That was before we had access to everything on our phones the way that we do now. So these kids would never understand what those types of shows meant to society back in the day. Can't believe they're still going. They are, though. Oh, yeah. We're back. Absolutely crushing it. Absolutely crushing it. How are the songs going? I saw Future and Tyler did their thing. We got a chance to watch that. It wasn't bad. Shakira was awesome to open the whole thing up. Once again, we're back to soccer. Did we expect this? I just had to stop myself right there. It's kind of taking over. I got the fever.

2:03:36Pat McAfee:Me too. Big time. Yeah, Australia. We play the Socceroos. Friday. We play the Socceroos fresh off. We're favorites. Three o 'clock. You're damn right. We are favorites. We're supposed to beat Australia, but the thing about it is they weren't supposed to beat Turkey. No, they weren't. They're very compact at the back. They're very well organized. They play five at the back and hit the long ball. They got this striker up front who's fast as hell. We were plus 110 against Paraguay. Thank you. And minus 165 against Australia. Do what you're with. Anyone counting? 18. They ain't fucking ready for the big engines we got.

2:04:12Pat McAfee:25. Nah. That's a lot more than 18. Yeah. Like 120. The Socceroos ain't ready for the fucking big engines we got. They just aren't. You love that Assyrians-Greleson. Yeah, big time. What does that mean exactly? Hustle. Royalty. Respect. Motor. Motor. Motor. Big gas banks. Work rate. Diesel fuel. Let's think of like 11 Max Crosby's out there. Yes. Bingo. 11 Mad Max fans. Yes. Black Boy Max. Black Boy Max. Hago would be considered a big engine. Yes, you were a big engine. Big motor, high motor guys. Lunch pail. Usually. There it is. Yeah. First one in, last one out. That's what big engines mean.

2:04:50Pat McAfee:Americans kind of have that in soccer. I guess Grella just taught us that. Yeah, we do. Japan used to be known for that. Oh, yeah. Japan would run you to death. That was kind of their thing. We are just going to run you, and we're just going to be smothering, and then they'd inevitably get you tired, and then they take advantage of you. We did that to Paraguay. We outran them. We're faster than them. We suffered, and you could tell they were tapping out on them. It was almost like they just, fuck. There was a lot of that coming from Paraguay. I didn't know that that's what we were known for, but I like it.

2:05:20Pat McAfee:If you can run better than the other team, you're going to win in soccer more often than not. I like how Ponch, it sounds like Ponch is kind of keeping the guy, like, he definitely doesn't sound like he's buddy-buddy with everybody. He's keeping them kind of on their toes and kind of nervous, and I think that's not a bad spot to be. I don't think he speaks the clearest English either, so email might be the best way to kind of, just like how we're reading all these tweets from Japan. Yes. Translate sentence. I think that's part of it, but I do appreciate that he just has come in and said, this is embarrassing, but I'm fucking sick of it.

2:05:52I ain't your fucking buddy, okay?

2:05:55Pat McAfee:Jumpy, tell me if I'm wrong. The amount of... And they're like, I can't... Don't want to hear it. This is what we're doing. Guys not running full speed? Hey, fuck out. Yep, we're doing it. That Diego Luna, I love him. I absolutely love Diego Luna. I don't know if he could have kept up with what this team is doing. It feels like... It's not a big engine. I think he's got a good work rate. He's got an okay engine. He's got a good work rate. Maybe ethanol, though, not diesel. That's what I'm saying. The engine. I don't know if it is a V8, which we got. These guys are just buzzing around. Turbo charge.

2:06:32Pat McAfee:Yeah, exactly. That's right. Yeah, we're talking. A lot of horses. Twin turbos. Yeah, nitro too. Yeah. You know, that's what's happening whenever they're there. Cigarette boats. Yeah. Big fart buckets on the tailpipe. Yep. You know, those things that are happening. That's what we got going on. Well said. Fucking yeah. That's what we got. Diego Luna, I don't think he can run with this team. Not yet. Is that accurate, Gumpy? Americans, we can run. We're running. We ran Paraguay to death. We ran them until they quit. Are we going to be able to do that the whole time? That's what Grello's asking, I guess.

2:07:04Yeah. You can because all of these guys are playing in the big leagues now. Like Alex Freeman, he got a transfer to Villarreal. He's 21 years old. He plays right back. He's all over this place. Everybody's playing in England. They're playing in Italy. Like these guys have been playing like this all season, so they're ready for this tournament.

2:07:20Pat McAfee:I love it. Let's go, boys. Here we go. Fucking go, boys. Go, boys. We're in on sports. We're in on life. We're thankful we get to do this. Let's go watch some World Cup soccer. Hell yeah. 3 o 'clock. AJ, anything you'd like us to hit that we haven't hit? When's Ronaldo play? You've asked that twice now. That's a good question. I know. What team is he playing for? Portugal. Portugal. They're saying this is the best Portugal team there's ever been with him on it. They play Wednesday. The money is not an international play. That was where he chose to go play his club soccer, Saudi Arabia. Internationally, he's still from Portugal.

2:07:59Gotcha. So for all these teams, you know, all these leagues Gumpy talks about, you know, there's tournaments every single weekend. Do they just take two months off every time the World Cup happens?

2:08:07Pat McAfee:Yeah, it's international break, I believe, Gumpy. Yeah, the summer's usually the time that they're off. All the seasons are done. Except for the MLS is the only league that plays during the summer. But the MLS is changing their calendar to match. Remember, that was the big deal from primetime sports, whatever, with the commissioners. That's the big story about the MLS is they're changing their calendar to match everybody else so when international breaks happen, they can happen. Because the fear is with the MLS wanting to take its next step, you can't get any real players because when international play comes, there's always going to be some shit with MLS still playing while everybody else is taking a break.

2:08:44Pat McAfee:So maybe we can attract more players, bigger name players, international players to the league if we get on the same cycle, so the same international break. And we're changing. That just means it could be four degrees some of these games. That's all. And they are getting another big name player, Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona Bayern Munich legend, signing with the Chicago Fire. Wow. Lewandowski's going to Chicago? You know why? He's a dog. You know why? Where is he from? Poland. Poland? Thank you. a lot of Polish in Chicago. That's right. I got a couple Polish friends with no future. You up there in your ivory tower making moves.

2:09:26We'll see. Vince Vaughn. Thank you. What movie is it? That is the one with Jennifer Aniston. The Breakup.

2:09:34Pat McAfee:Vince Vaughn had. I took some liberties there because there was some stuff in there I didn't know if I could say or not, so I did it right. Everybody's kind of learning what they can and can't say in real time. A lot of people saying stuff. A lot of stuff coming back that we're going to... I can't wait to say it on this show. Can't wait to hear it. I'm pumped for you, too. I'm pumped for you, too. What's the opening thing say that we run on here? Do not reflect the opinions of others on microphone. The opinions expressed on this show do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of their peers, their boss, or ESPN.

2:10:11Pat McAfee:There may be some cuss words, because that's how humans in the world we might have to add the cuss word thing just better descriptors of what might be coming down the pipe just kidding i'm not gonna take a trip back back to 2003 locker rooms which there's a lot of people kind of coming back i've been very alarmed that that is just so casual out in out people have just had it we're out there at omaha oh yeah and people just walk up just casually first thing they're saying to me and i'm like holy fuck i didn't know it's like that. They're like, well, you? I'm like, alright. We're all living out here.

2:10:48Pat McAfee:We're all living out here. Good luck. We're just trying to be happy. Everybody's trying to be happy. Have a good time. Sports are the greatest. We're lucky for that. What are we on tonight? Tone? I am on there's a Belgium. I'm on Belgium and Uruguay parlay together. That's plus 126. If you want, there's a 50 % bonus for World Cup right now. That takes that to plus 190 for Belgium and Uruguay. There's also MLB tonight. There's also the College World Series tonight. So if you really get down on whatever you want. College World Series, who's playing tonight? Tonight, there's Georgia and Alabama and Texas.

2:11:22Alabama and Texas has two elimination game. Georgia-Oklahoma at seven.

2:11:27Pat McAfee:Is that kid throwing the 95 slaughter kid? Probably not. Fuck. Slaughter from hell, as Ravi says. So apparently there's stands back there that are like a whitish color. Oh, they don't have a good enough. They don't have a big enough backdrop. I don't know. They have a huge batter's eye, but he's way out here. I guess that fucker's like. That's like your arm angle. Isn't that what your arm angle? You change your slot? Yeah. My slot is a little bit more like this, which I've seen more throwing like this, by the way, which makes me feel a little bit more comfortable about my arm build and where I'm at in my life.

2:11:58Pat McAfee:But I guess his reach is just fucking outrageous. It's like Miz. It's like, hey. You want to talk about a guy on fire? Yeah. Miz. Can't wait to watch this. Good luck out there, boys. This Mizorowski guy. Hey. Front of the program. Last year makes the All-Star game only having five starts. Everybody's pissed off. Everybody's pissed off that he makes it in there. But it felt like everybody actually playing baseball is like, nope, this guy, this guy's the one. Media was pissed. Fans were pissed that he made the All-Star game. Should have been a guy from Philadelphia who had a lot more starts than he did.

2:12:31Pat McAfee:But it felt like all the players kind of understood why this guy was given an All-Star nod at such a young start and such a fresh start. This year he's breaking every record known to mankind. He goes seven innings, I think, last eight starts. I think he's going full games. Did he not go full games? Yeah, he had what is called a Maddox, which is where you don't throw that many pitches and you throw a complete game. And he had 15 strikeouts. So you factor that in. He's striking out 15 guys, only throwing 98 pitches. He has the best stuff in baseball, and it's not particularly close. Like, skeins, guys like that are obviously unbelievable.

2:13:05This guy throws so fucking hard. It's just like, you know, if he does get hit, there's a chance he's going to give up homers. but it's really hard to hit a 105-mile-an-hour fastball. And then on top of that, he's throwing a fucking 97, 98-mile-an-hour cutter or slider. It's just when he's on, he's as close to unhittable as there is in the majors.

2:13:25Pat McAfee:Okay, so him, Shohei, Skeeno, what's the super-duper pitcher award? Cy Young. Cy Young is both leagues, right? Yes, correct. Is there one, though, or does one, like how do we, what are the awards? So there is Cy Young for AL and NL. He's pitching well enough where he will probably, if he can continue this, he'll get MVP consideration. Okay, so that's like in the NFL, MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. Right. Normally, position player that could have won MVP will win Offensive Player of the Year. This one, MVP, potentially most dominant pitcher, and then you've got two pitchers winning the NL and AL too.

2:14:02Pat McAfee:Right. So you can celebrate three pitchers as opposed to. Yeah, it's very rare that a pitcher wins MVP. Cy Young is like the equivalent of the pitching MVP, but he's, I mean, I'd be curious what his odds are. The last time a pitcher won MVP was Kershaw in 2014. NL Cy Young, Miz is minus 140 with Chris Sanchez plus 220. Those two have been the most dominant, with Shohei being plus 1 ,200, and Skeen's 1 ,500 right behind him. And then MVP, what are his odds? MVP, the odds for MVP, his odds are plus 8 ,000. And Shohei is minus 1 ,600 because he's an unbelievable one. Yeah, he does both. So it's kind of hard to.

2:14:44But he would be like, I might bet him after the show. Because if he keeps doing this, it'll be like the single best pitching season of all time.

2:14:53Pat McAfee:Miz? Yeah. But Sho hits as well. So there's a chance they give Sho the MVP. Skeeno will then get the, and then Miz gets the, or are they Miz and Skeeno on the same side? Yeah, Miz and Skeeno on the same side. And Shohei? Holy fuck, Skino! It's not his fault. Skino's 6-6. He got it last year with a bad record. I think he's 6-9, actually. Sure? I thought he was 6-6. Maybe he is 6-9. They don't help him out. I mean, Miz is 7-0 on his last. So if you are getting wins and then you're also striking guys out and not giving up runs, there really isn't much of a competition between him and Skino in that regard.

2:15:29Fuck.

2:15:30Pat McAfee:Lowest ERA since 1913. Will the Brewers be able to pay him? Thank you, Sarah Langs. They've paid guys in the... They've paid Yelich in the past and stuff like that. Yeah, they're not going to let him go anywhere. Good. I mean, he fucking... Hose. Oh, my God. And just give it to you real quick. Fashion universe. Hit 105. Yeah. The only thing with him... His arm might just explode. And his knee. Yeah. That left knee hyper extends. He is Gumby-like, though. Yeah. And he didn't even really hurt him. He might be like Phelps. Phelps was built to be a fish. Yeah. You know, like the way he was... Ligaments like Linguini.

2:16:05Pat McAfee:Yeah, this Miz guy might have the same. He was literally born. He's a further reach than everybody, right? But he's not the tallest. But he has the furthest reach as everybody, so he has the longest stride. His knee hyperextends seemingly every single pitch. It doesn't matter. He just kind of walks it off. He's utilizing literally every part of his body to generate power, and it happens on every pitch for 70 straight pitches. Yeah. It's nuts. He's supposed to be a closer, this guy. He's listed at 6 '7", so he is pretty tall. Good player. He's definitely a tall lad. Fuck. Is he the tallest pitcher in the league?

2:16:37No, I think there's guys like 6 '10", but...

2:16:40Pat McAfee:Holy fuck. Let me see. He's tall, though. He's very tall. Probably 6 '9", in spikes. Especially up on that bump. On that mat. Yeah, exactly. He looks like 7 '8". And he feels like he's 20 feet tall. Bailey Ober is who goes for the Twins. Maybe not the Twins anymore. 6 '9". Imagine Miz just sitting there knowing what he's about to do to you, and you're going to fucking walk in. Well, I don't think there's any way you can replicate that. Like, if you've faced him before, maybe. But, like, I understand a lot of guys throw hard. I don't, like, even these guys who are seeing guys throw heat every day, like, seeing a 105-mile-an-hour fastball, like, I just, I don't know how your brain can even, like, get to the point, like, okay, now I need to swing.

2:17:19Like, you need to start fucking swinging when he's, like, yeah, exactly. Mookie Betts gave an answer about that. Like, you don't really realize how hard it is to hit a 100-mile-an-hour fastball. But, like, the difference between that and 105 is exponential.

2:17:33Pat McAfee:Yeah, he threw the fastest pitch ever thrown by a starting pitcher. So, obviously, that's good. All right, well, he'll keep going. He's young, too. Yes, very young. U.S. soccer team, very young. Boom. San Antonio Spurs, very young. What? I worry that the worst possible thing for the NBA was the Spurs losing because now he's going to be motivated to go get a bunch of them. Yeah. Yeah, they're calling him a child. I was going to say, I'm going to need to see him pop a little less before I'm completely there. He's a powder. Victim? Yeah. Victim one, but yeah. Is what Skip said? Yeah. Right. Speaking of miserably.

2:18:18Pat McAfee:Still got it. It's closer if you need it. That was fun to watch. Sorry, not for Victor. I assume it wasn't fun. But it was fun to kind of watch that entire narrative change about him multiple times. Crazy, yeah. Even in the conference finals, it was like, we hate this guy. No, we hate SGA more, though. Definitely. Yeah, you're right. Oh, he's taking on New York. We hate New York. Wait a minute. This New York team's pretty likable. This fucking guy actually getting away with a lot of stuff. This foreigner. Oh, he's collapsing down the stretch. This guy's whining. This guy's pounding. This guy's a cheap shot.

2:18:52Pat McAfee:Fuck this guy. We like New York, actually, now. Never thought we'd say that. That was kind of, I mean, it was a pendulum. It changes quick. So quick. And then going into the offseason, powder, choker. Get him the fuck out of here. Guy's French. What are we even talking about? It's like, wow. So good. He hears all of that. He's going to win 10 straight. He hears all of that. Somehow he's going to get taller. I don't know how that's going to work. Somehow he's going to do that. Good for him. All right. Let's get the hell out of here watching games. Thank you, sports, so much for being great. Thank you, sports.

2:19:24Pat McAfee:And thank you for allowing us to do this all. last year we last week we had NBA Finals Altcast Program Feud against NFL Live Omaha College World Series World Cup game Stanley Cup champion crowned NBA champion crowned and an American knocking out a foreigner in front yard not knocking out making a foreigner quit in front yard at the White House it's been a hell of a run for sports and for us and it only happens because all of you Let us do it. I'm not even going to get into it. I'm at a different stage of my life now. I don't need to dive into everything that everybody says. I don't need to tell the world and everybody that I hate.

2:20:08Pat McAfee:I don't need to do that anymore. Ain't that right, AJ? I don't need to do that anymore. You don't need to, but if you feel the need, you can. See, you got a lot of morale doing you right there. That answer. That's what Nick always tells me. If I knew exactly who you were talking about, I could determine whether I want to push you or not. Only one way to find out. That's always a problem. We're not going to do it. We are lucky to be a part of sports. We're thankful to be a part of sports. And we will continue to be a part of sports for as long as you will have us. Be a friend, tell a friend, something nice about changing life.

2:20:38Pat McAfee:We're interesting together. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three. Team. Goodbye.
