In short
The show is a “Tom Cruise Tuesday” sports talk episode that mixes NFL preview talk (especially the Los Angeles Rams), a segment with NFL center A.Q. Shipley on how to stop Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett, plus broader sports headlines (U.S. Open tennis, La Liga soccer, and multiple college/high school football finishes).
Guests (and backgrounds)
- Tom Cruise (Cole Trickle character) – discussed via a short interview the host recorded with him at Daytona before the Coke Zero 400; the conversation is about life and acting/character work for “Days of Thunder” and “Digger.”
- A.Q. Shipley – former NFL center (played against Aaron Donald in the NFC West with the Cardinals; also played for Ravens, Eagles, Steelers, and Colts). Now a football analyst/coach-type voice.
- Greg McElroy – former Alabama national champion quarterback; hosts “Hi, I’m Greg McElroy.”
- Ryan Garcia – WBC welterweight contender, scheduled to fight Conor Benn in Vegas next Saturday.
- Conor Benn – WBC welterweight contender, scheduled to fight Ryan Garcia in Vegas next Saturday.
- Darius J. Butler (appears at the “toxic table” portion) – nine-year NFL vet.
Key claims
- Rams’ defense is so disruptive that opponents may need “tush-push” style plays to get first downs, especially versus Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett.
- Stopping Donald/Garrett requires winning on first and second down; third-and-long is described as the “absolute nightmare” zone.
- Rams’ offensive line may not be “all-pro” individually, but the unit’s cohesion and quick-pass offense make it easier to operate.
- Aaron Donald’s return from time away will take a ramp-up period due to athletic/football-specific movement demands; expect limited early snaps (often framed as 20–25 plays).
Notable examples
- Shipley’s “99 protection” concept: historically sliding protection to Donald; if Donald and Garrett are on opposite sides (99/95), offenses must “pick your poison.”
- Shipley describes defensive stunts/twists: TE stunts and crash/around schemes to create one-on-one matchups.
- U.S. Open: Ben Shelton beats an opponent after losing the first set 6-1, then winning 6-1, 7-6, 6-2.
- College football: William & Mary’s late sequence vs Villanova includes an onside kick return and two field goals after being down 10 with 58 seconds left; Cal Poly’s last-second touchdown vs Idaho.

0:15Pat McAfee:Football is phenomenal, and I felt like there was a little delay that might have been on me. I do apologize. Super jacked up because today is a special day. I had an incredible opportunity to go chit-chat with Cole Trickle, Tom Cruise, Dan Live in Daytona. Before the Coke Zero 400 this past Saturday. On very short notice. Got invited down there to catch up with Tom. Not only chit-chat about Digger, which is out one month and a day from right now. But also Days of Thunder coming back. And obviously NASCAR was at the time in the middle of an arrow up to the right. Where they captivated the entire globe.
0:51Pat McAfee:Not only with this fantastic old moonshine running cars. That were certainly the depiction of American muscle. as they were rolling. But there was this type of community and culture that people looked at from the outside and said, I want a piece of that. Then obviously the attitude started building. Then there was a little bit of crashing. There was a little bit of brashing. There was a little bit of crashing whenever they were fighting amongst each other. And then all of a sudden, NASCAR became this global sensation. Tom Cruise, one of the greatest actors of all time, played a character named Cole Trickle, who's this young, wild driver who was willing to do whatever to win.
1:29Pat McAfee:Just like three. They had to. Very similar, actually. They had to rein him in a little bit, and then now, guess what? Boom. He's back. So, Tom Cruise invited us down to chit-chat with him. We have a conversation about life, about movies, about Cole Trickle, about diving into these characters, about being a human. It's about 17 minutes long, so we'll run that here in a few moments. We also have a legendary press conference awaiting us in the second hour. Yeah. Ryan Garcia is fighting Connor Ben. Yeah. Okay? That's happening in Vegas next Saturday. They are going to bat for the WBC Welterweight World Championship, okay?
2:03Pat McAfee:They're both going to be joining us in the second hour, okay? We've done this before. Yeah, we have. We have done this one other time in the past, and it is optically hilarious, to be clear. I feel that way. Ryan Garcia will be on your left side of the screen as you see it. Conor Benn will be on the right side of the screen as you see it. I will be right there in the middle. Now, do I love that that is happening? Would we rather be live in person with both of them? Yes. But I do think we'll get a chance to chit-chat about a fight that's certainly going to steal some headlines next Saturday and see where they're both at.
2:30Pat McAfee:As World Championship boxing potentially makes its way all the way back into the forefront of pop culture with Zufa promotions, which is obviously Dana and Nick Khan and TKO and WWE and UFC and everybody kind of coming together to try to do the boxing world. They've had massive fights in the past. This one's a big one as they continue to build. Can't wait to catch up with them. AQ Shipley will join us in a matter of moments to chit-chat about what the hell you do with the Aaron Donald Miles Garrett situation. Yeah. Check 99, check 99. Well, who's checking 95 then? Yeah, they're going to run out of people.
3:02Pat McAfee:Yeah. They're going to run out of people because there's more than two guys on that D-line. There's like four guys that are also going to be there. You've got five guys to block the four guys. Now you can bring in tight end. Obviously, now you've got six guys to block the four guys. You can keep running back in. Okay, now you've got seven guys to block the four guys. But if two guys are going to eat up two guys, now you start doing math, guess what? Three people left. Two people left. One person left. Who's blocking nobody? Okay? That's what's happening. Yeah. That's what the Rams potentially are going to do.
3:25Pat McAfee:We'll talk to A.Q. Shipley about that. And then we also have Greg McIlroy, national champion, Alabama quarterback, who now hosts the Hi, I'm Greg McIlroy podcast. That's right. It's fantastic. Always college football with Greg McIlroy. There it is. Okay. I knew the Greg McIlroy name was in there. We love the name Greg McIlroy, and we appreciate that he'll be stopping by because college football, obviously, huge weekend this weekend. Storylines in abundance. Sports are kicking ass. The Talks at Tables here at Boston Corner. And Tone Diggs looks a little different today, doesn't it, Con? Man, how's it feel over there with Tone next to you as opposed to Todd?
3:54Pat McAfee:hot. Oh, it's fantastic as always. And yeah, missing Ty, of course, but Diggs, I know anytime he sits down here something gets in his soul, something gets in his system where he has to say some egregious shit. So I'm looking forward to whatever that does end up being today from Tony. Yeah, I mean, I don't think Tony needs to be at that table to say some egregious stuff, but I do appreciate the fact that it maybe amplifies a little bit. And speaking of amplifying, it sounded like somebody was trying to gas you up there whenever you were trying to gas up Tony into saying something stupid today. That was a man who's sitting at the one half of the hammer cowboy seat.
4:24Pat McAfee:Mm-hmm. Nine-year NFL vet, Darius J. Butler. D-Box, good to see you. Good to see you. Good to see you. What are you gassing him up there to say something egregious?
4:30AQ Shipley:I mean, I just love when the toxic table is toxic. That's all.
4:33Pat McAfee:You know what? I found myself being a little toxic last night. Let's do a little self-eval. Okay. I like that. I saw it. The Los Angeles Rams thought to themselves, a third of our team are captains. Yeah, that makes sense. My immediate thought was, if you've got 11 captains, do you have any captains? If you have 12 captains, you have two quarterbacks. You have one quarterback. This was something I didn't expect. Their jersey now should be just the amount of C's. They're just going to be bopping around everywhere. Los Angeles captains. Exactly. They're everywhere. And you start going through it, it's like, well, I assume that guy, yeah, does deserve it.
5:08Pat McAfee:I assume that guy probably does. Joe Cardona is representative of the special teams. Long snapper Navy. Respect. Appreciate him having it. Yeah, he definitely deserves it. Devontae, yeah, he definitely deserves it. Staff, obviously, yeah, okay. And then Aaron Donald's not a captain? Huh. Okay. We're going to have to edit this thing here in a little bit. We're going to add another one in there. Dee, but what are your thoughts as we get into the captain's time of these teams? I'll share a couple fun stories. You know, they do, some teams do the team vote. Anonymous voting system. Who knows the vote?
5:38Pat McAfee:Just you, the paper, and whoever's counting all of them at the end. Coach. Well, who's counting them at the end? The person that really wants a certain amount of people to be the captain. So any time that anonymous vote happened, it did feel as if exactly who you thought a coach would want to be, the captains, became the captains. So then there was some questions on the conspiracy. Then there was coaches that were just like, boom, you're the captain, you're the captain, you're the captain. We'll swing a captain each week to be the fourth captain. Now we're out of here. D, but 11 captains. Is this Sean McVay making a mockery out of the thing, saying we've got a team filled with leaders?
6:12Pat McAfee:What do you kind of take from this?
6:14AQ Shipley:It's interesting. I wouldn't say alarming necessarily, but when we go throughout this time of year and people start naming their captains, you'll see some teams maybe only have two, or you'll see three, offense, defense, special teams, four, maybe even five. But then once you get up to kind of that five, six range, it's like, okay, that's a lot of captains. So to see a graphic like this, see a picture like this is kind of crazy. And I think my response to you was like, yeah, just so much leadership. And you start looking at the names and the faces, and yeah, there are people who you would assume will be captains on most teams.
6:47AQ Shipley:And it is a huge honor whenever your team does vote you as a captain. And I feel like those are the only kind of captains that matter, the ones that are voted by the team. And we all have been in situations where, yeah, okay, you may have three, and the fourth guy's like, okay, that's the guy the coach wanted in there. That's probably, you know, the guy he goes and talks to, that's probably the guy that goes and snitches and say, what's really going on in the locker room.
7:09Pat McAfee:Yeah, that's kind of the – that's what happens in those meetings, you know, just sitting in there. And I'm not saying it has affected me. It probably has. But, like, just listening to doing the vote, then the announcement of the winners, who the captains are, and then an immediate... Who? Oh. Was that you? Because I did. So, Vinny, you voted for that guy? No. All right. Colt, you voted for that guy? No. All right, we are a small sample size, but we are three right here. And then you lean up. Hey, you? Huh? No. Okay, neither do. All right. Nobody voted for that fucking guy. Okay, Chuck. Chuck talks to this guy.
7:49Pat McAfee:Okay, we need to know that this guy matters a lot. And it's the same thing whenever you have a – I'm not even going to get into the entire game. There were some coaches that were leaking on us too, you know. Oh, yeah. Yeah, you got to recognize that quickly, and you got to utilize that to your advantage, not to your detriment. Okay, there has to be a hooty-hoo on who, on him. Okay, we need some stuff, don't we? Yes, we do. Let's go ahead and work that. That's what captains are doing. They got 11 of them, maybe 12 of them once Aaron Donald gets in there. The Aaron Donald conversation piece has been loud, and I think for good reason.
8:21Pat McAfee:I think, obviously, them being the odds-on favorite that they're being to win, and the teams who have been plus 500 or better over the last 20 occasions have gone 0 for 20 in winning the Super Bowl whenever it starts the season. So if it's such an obvious favorite to win the NFL season, to become the Super Bowl champion, that they're plus 500 or better, the last 20 times it's happened, it hasn't happened. So. Okay. Now, Ben Fox doesn't fox around. No, he does not. And this is a good stat. And it makes me a little bit worried about, you know, potentially laying a little bit on plus 500 because that's probably the best odds you're going to get for the Los Angeles Rams all season because I genuinely don't understand how we're getting a first down.
8:59Pat McAfee:Now, Myles Garrett's knee's been swelling up a lot. Yes. I've seen more Aaron Donald reps as a Los Angeles Ram than I've seen Myles Garrett reps as a Los Angeles Ram. But let's just act like they're both going to be playing and that defense is going to be what that defense is going to be. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who was a center in the NFL for 100 years. He's a Super Bowl champion player coach, just like Jackie Moon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Also had stops with the Arizona Cardinals, the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and where I met them, the Indianapolis Colts.
9:30Pat McAfee:Ladies and gentlemen, center in the NFL, also head of the wedge for kickoff return, and sometimes a fullback. Ladies and gentlemen, A.Q. Shipley. Yay! Look at that head right there. Look at that head. What's up, boys? Bam. Bam. Bam. Bam. Bam. Good to see you, dude. Good to see you. I know you were in the same division as Aaron Donald whenever you were an Arizona Cardinal. And I know, because I'm pretty close confident of yours, that you didn't sleep all week, basically, whenever you were playing Aaron Donald. And I know you weren't the only one that had similar nightmares of number 99. Now, you go over to the AFC North for the people that have played against Miles Garrett for the last decade or so.
10:09Pat McAfee:There's a lot of tackles not sleeping. One Miles Garrett's coming to town as well. Not only because he loves Halloween and he's spooky and everything like that, but he is unblockable seemingly whenever he doesn't want to be blocked. Two guys that when they don't want to be blocked can literally just not be blocked. How are the offensive lines going to handle this? Because to me it feels like there's not enough numbers to protect people. How is anybody getting a first down? How are people getting a first down against this team, let alone the back end's restored, the rest of the D-line's good, the linebackers can move.
10:39Pat McAfee:is there how do you get a first down please can you just explain that to me yeah i hope they they go back to what peyton manning didn't three-step drop get rid of the ball quickly i mean there's a million different ways you're gonna have to game plan against these guys the problem is back in the day we used to have a protection when we would play against aaron donald number 99 right so 99 was the protection call which means you're just sliding to 99 the whole day well what if they put 99 opposite of miles garrett so 99's over here and 95's over there now you got to pick your poison. Somebody's going to have to win a one-on-one matchup.
11:08The problem is when you get to third down, you can do so many different things. If they can get you in third and long, this is going to be an absolute nightmare for everyone, as everyone obviously knows, but you can put them on the same side and then you got the TE stunts, right? So now Aaron can set it up and then you get Miles around or you get the ET stunt. Now Miles is down, crashing, blowing up the guard and then Aaron's around. You got a nightmare there. Here's the other thing. Now you run the twist game in the middle with the 2d tackles and you get miles one-on-one you get everyone sliding to aaron over here and then you get all this space with a tackle and miles garrett it's an absolute nightmare the key is if you are playing this team you got to win on first and second down that's the key you got to stay ahead of the change the other thing is how do you win
11:49Pat McAfee:on first and second down there you're going to be able to run the ball i guess against them but isn't aaron on the ball he's 280 pounds he's very good there's no question about it but he is 280 so if you can get the double team on him, you can get some movement on him. That's what we used to try and do whenever we would play against him or other guys who just love the love to rush the passer. No, don't get me wrong. He's good against the run, but he likes to use his quickness. He likes to swim around blocks and get back in it. Right. Like JJ Watt used to do. There's only a handful of guys that can do that.
12:16But if you can somehow scheme the double team up against him, now you get two bodies on one. That's the, that's going to be the key. And you got to get three yards you got to get four yards on first down now you stay ahead of the chain second down now you get another three and then if you can sit in third and three you keep them out of the twist
12:32Pat McAfee:games an obvious pass down situation yeah and then the back end to their lockdown as well so let's say you're i mean they're good everywhere yeah they're good everywhere you heard that's the problem you heard the gm last need yesterday said uh i'm worried about right now okay we got matthew stafford's window who as long as we have matthew stafford i'm gonna try to win right now I'm cognitive of the future, he said. It has to happen. And we'll deal with that whenever it takes place. But I'm trying to win right now. He's assembled the Avengers. He really has over there. And they've got 11 captains.
13:01Pat McAfee:You know why they've got 11 captains? Because they've got fucking everybody you've ever heard of on the same team. So everybody needs to see. They at least deserve it. Who knows how long they're going to be there for. You know, they've got the four stars underneath the sea. Each star lit up for each year you're a captain. They have a couple gold stars on there, which is the four-timers. Four-timers. But all these guys, who knows if they end up lasting with the Rams are going on somewhere else. If you have a captain somewhere else, you still earn your star. So I assume it's like, hey, you would be a captain anywhere else other than this particular team right now.
13:30Pat McAfee:You deserve it. Let's give 11 guys out there. But I think they like their culture. I think they like the way they got things rolling. The defense seems impossible to get a first down unless you tush-push over Aaron Donald for three to four yards on first down and second down and get into third and manageable. But on the offensive side, they're unstoppable too. I genuinely...
13:48AQ Shipley:I started looking at this roster a little different. Now the guys that aren't captains, I'm just going to start looking like that. Yeah. Must be a bad man. Hey, let me say this too, and I will say this because obviously I remember being on the coaching side and whenever we played against Aaron Donald, the upstairs coaches, they have to be very cognizant. They got to be dialed in and keyed in because I remember this very clearly. When we played the L.A. Rams in the playoffs when I was coaching for the Bucs in 21, they end up beating us going on to win the Super Bowl. But it was very clear. There was somebody upstairs watching 99.
14:21And when 99, he loves to take breaks, right? They like to keep him fresh. So, hey, let's go four plays. You get a first down. He's out, get a rest, come back in. That coach upstairs, 99's out, 99's out, 99's out. That's when you take your shots. That's when you go seven step and get your pass protection. The problem is if they somehow platoon it where 99's out but 95's still in, you're still kind of fucked.
14:43Pat McAfee:Yeah, it sounds like there was a 95 is out of the game call too, potentially on most sidelines. So at least they can keep one or the other on there. And once again, I mean, the rest of the defense is unbelievable, and they're all going to be able to eat because of this. Now, on the offensive side, Tony Diggs brought it up this morning. Are they going to be able to protect Matthew Stafford? Now, Dan Orlovsky yesterday said Los Angeles Rams offense is the easiest offense in the NFL to operate, which didn't come up during the MVP conversation last year, but that is what he said. That's what a lot of New England Patriots fans are saying.
15:14Pat McAfee:That's fascinating. and you're saying that after what Drake May did last year and you said Matthew Stafford was clearly the MVP. I think what Orlovsky was probably saying, for who Matthew Stafford is, Matthew Stafford knows every defense that's out there. He knows exactly the right decision to make for this particular offense. I don't think he's saying, like, as a rookie getting in here, but I think he's saying for Matthew Stafford, this offense, he knows it like the back of his hand. I didn't take it that way. Well, that's probably what Orlovsky was mentioning, if I had to guess, because it's real.
15:38Pat McAfee:But also, Orlovsky mentioned, they keep him up. He gets that ball out very quick. He doesn't get hit much. They understand they've got to keep them safe, which is why they might have 14 personnel in the game at certain times. Are they going to be able to protect Stafford? What is the leverage point on this Los Angeles Rams team? Is it the offensive line in protection like it was a couple years ago, or do they have that kind of figured out? No, listen, I mean, their offensive line, I don't think when you look across the board, any of their five guys are sitting there like, oh, yeah, that's a clear all pro or that's a pro bowler, but they play well together.
16:08I think that's a key, and they've had some consistency. They've been able to keep a lot of the same guys over the years. I think what Dan's trying to say, and I kind of agree now being able to call the games of the Cardinals and seeing Coach LaFleur operate the same offense this entire preseason, which by the way, with the entire two threes and four fourth string guys for the Arizona Cardinals, they look like a juggernaut because here's the deal. The offense is easy to operate. And what he means by that is it's, it makes it easy on everybody. The offensive line jobs easier when you're sitting in a Bruce Arians game, for instance, right and you're ending up throwing the ball 35 40 times as an offensive lineman it's a nightmare you're running empty protection you got to hold up in protection for five or six seconds on every single play but you understand that's your job well when you're in this offense you're running the football you're running the zone scheme you're running the gap scheme you got play actions every other play you got a naked boot every other play so you're only in drop back protection four times a half true drop back protection so if you can get the lead in this offense which obviously Stafford's incredible.
17:08They got the weapons on the outside, really good running backs, right? If all they got to do is just kind of get in the way, run a clean operation and a clean offense, you get the ball out of the hands quickly, you get easy completions, and you pick and choose your spots based off of the play action. You got a low, middle, and a high operation when you roll the naked boot, and somebody's going to be open with the weapons they have.
17:28Pat McAfee:Yeah, and with the weapons they have and how they're able to operate, you think they're going to have leads, which Myles Garrett hasn't had a lot of, right? No. And Myles Garrett's obviously never operated next to another defensive MVP, So we assume both these guys are going to eat more. Last question here about the Rams and the Aaron Donald Penn Hills question. Go ahead, Conman. Yeah, AQ, with Aaron Donald and even Myles Garrett at this point because he's missed so much time, how long is it going to take for him to kind of get back into the entire thing? You took a couple years off, so would you want to play the Rams early?
17:56Do you want to be in those first six weeks even though they're fresh, or do you want to be towards the back end? Like how long do you expect it to take for Aaron Donald to get back to a full-blown, 100 % guy who we saw right before he retired? Yeah, first off, I do not think you want to play the Rams ever. I think that's the first thing I'll say. Secondly, I think it's going to take a little bit of time. I think the interesting thing, and I think I keep coming back to the word calloused, right? Your body becomes calloused and used to playing the game of football. It's a physical sport. It's a different sport, right?
18:31You can lift at your home in your home gym, and you can run on a treadmill, and you can do all these different things, but running on grass, different movements. Listen, you can run on a treadmill, that's straight ahead, but now you've got to, he's known for his wiggle. He's known for his athleticism. He's known for his ability to do this whole thing and get up the field and work inside and work outside and all these different things. I'm not so sure that was part of his regimen of working out over the last couple years, so I think it is going to take a little bit of time. I think they're going to be smart with it as well.
Read the full transcript
18:58I think they'll probably only give him, I don't know, 20 to 25 plays in the first couple weeks. But again, a lot of those plays are going to be on what? Third and long. Hey, go get the quarterback. Go do what you do, right? And he's the best that's ever done it on the inside. There's no question about that. And then you pair him up with one of the best that's ever done it on the outside. And you don't have to rush him back because they got other guys. That's the key. It's not like they needed him to go. I mean, they were one, two plays away from going to the Super Bowl without him last year. Now you add two of the most premier guys plus the guys they added in the back end.
19:29It's like, this team's going to be serious. So you can kind of wean him in, I think.
19:34Pat McAfee:Okay. And if they wean him in, we assume, what, a month or so? Probably get back into it. And you talked about training the last couple years as he was certainly still lifting and still in great shape. I mean, we all saw him on the internet. He looked unbelievable. But the athleticism, who knows if he's playing pickup hoops or whatever. It ain't football. It ain't football. It ain't football. Especially in the trenches where he is known for just bodying people. I don't know if he's doing that on day-to-day the last two years. He's been training with two tents, I believe, back in Pittsburgh, and the videos have looked outrageous.
20:02Pat McAfee:I mean, haven't seen the knives yet, though. Haven't seen the knives yet, though, so I don't know if this is saying Aaron Donald until I see, you know, multiple knives going at him and him hitting the hands. That's literally what this guy used to do. So, like, his preparation, I think, is something he takes, obviously, very seriously. I think he donated a gym in a locker room to Pitt so he could work out there. I think he is like one of the biggest fitness freaks that has ever existed. So him getting back in the game shape hopefully doesn't take – Yeah, this is it. This is it. Yep. There it is.
20:35Pat McAfee:This is classic. Yeah, I got these knives, okay? You're just going to keep them off you. All right, how about it? I played against him 11 times. I know exactly what he can do. I mean, he is – seeing it on tape is one thing. Seeing it on TV is one thing. but seeing it live in person when it's coming at you, it's a different story, right? Like I used to, I just never wanted to get embarrassed against him. So I would take the bull rush. I would just try and get back, let him work his moves. And then I'd get back and then like just eat bull rushes. I'm built to eat bull rushes. That's kind of how I used to approach going against him, right?
21:08But he's so good. I mean, I think you guys have the one clip of him going against Zach Martin who's one of the best. This is what he's so good at. He lines up wide. He goes inside, presses the inside pack. Zach Martin's going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. He gets him to fight back inside, turn his hips, and then he swims you back outside. Watch this. Work the inside, then back outside. I mean, there's nobody that can do that and move as fast as he does. And, oh, by the way, the other guy that can do that is 95 to his outside as well. So good luck, boys. Good luck out there.
21:38Pat McAfee:Hey, good time to be retired, brother. Certainly good time to be talking into a microphone. Zach Martin, though, we have to reiterate this, number 70 right there, first ballot Hall of Fame guard right there. First ballot Hall of Fame guard. is how they refer to him. And I think people would say he's one of the greatest of all time. And the reason why I want to show this particular clip is because this is great on great right here. And this is what it looks like. Will he be the same? We shall see. In Australia, it's a long flight. Maybe Myles Garrett with the swelling of the knee, 17 hours on a plane.
22:06AQ Shipley:He might not be playing with 20 years. I ain't worried about Myles Garrett. It'll be all right. We won. I miss the game in two years. All right. 16 a year before that. They should just lose the first game anyways. get that pressure of undefeated season and all that shit out of the way, let some other people maybe bet on them that aren't going to take them at plus 500, and then go from there. They should forfeit it. Send a message to Raj. We're not doing this.
22:27Pat McAfee:Okay, you're saying offline to Australia. Shrink the game, you're saying. You've been a big shrink the game. I'm back on it. Okay, you said, I like these international games. It's inevitable. Now you're saying, no, we need to fight a little bit here. I like that Sean McVay is basically saying, we're heading – how long is the flight? 20, 22 hours of travel. all right, we need to be there, what, at least, what, 29 hours before the game? We need to leave probably. Is that the math I'm doing? You've got to be there at least for 24 hours, right, don't you? All right, whatever that math is, that's when we're leaving.
22:58Pat McAfee:Only one team has ever gone completely undefeated. Just go ahead and do this game. Okay, let's just do it. We'll do the game, and then we come back. I don't like that for the people of Australia, but if they win this game, I mean, all the sleep experts and body experts that say you've got to go a week ahead of time, It's like, are you going to follow up with saying that maybe not, actually, if you have the Avengers as your roster, you can kind of just go into a time portal and then get farted out onto a football game and then win a game somehow in the middle of beautiful Australia. Beautiful. The Melbourne Cricket Grand MCG, I believe is what it's called.
23:37Pat McAfee:He's the home of the... The Melbourne Lions. The... No. The... The Grand Final. It's going to be. We love them. The Melbourne Meerkats. Yeah, I believe the Melbourne Cricket Ground is the home of the Collingwood Magpies. The Collingwood Magpies? Yes, yes, it is the Collingwood Magpies. They play at MCG. Yes, they do. The Collingwood Magpies. They play in Collingwood. Which is obviously Aussie rules football home. The Ozzie Rolls football field is just gigantic. It is huge pitch. There's a lot of teams based in Melbourne. I mean, it's a huge pitch. Big circle area. Obviously, cricket, I think, is also as well.
24:23Pat McAfee:So, I think that place will be a great environment. I think they'll love our sport if they get into it. Because Ozzie Rolls football, very similar. A lot more running. They got a lot of soccer to it because it's a lot bigger pitch and a lot of running. A lot of throwing. A lot of kicking. A lot of tackling. A lot of spearing. A lot of spectacular catches. They call them speckies, actually. So we think Australia will love American football. But to start your season as the odds-on Super Bowl favorites against a division rival on a 17 - to 20-hour flight away, Australia is a crazy way to start a season.
24:55But if they go on to win it, nobody can say anything about anything. I'd assume 99 % of the money is on the Rams minus the three and the hook there. I was also under the impression they were getting off the plane and going straight to the –
25:05Pat McAfee:Me too. They're not doing that. I guess if they got a little bit of time, they're going to go stop by a hotel. I wish they were going straight to the stadium. Me too. I wish they got plane, bus, police escort, straight to the Melbourne cricket grounds, into the locker room. Everybody take the showers there. And then we're out there running. Niners leave tonight, right? Don't they leave tonight, get there tomorrow? Yeah, I think it's either tonight or tomorrow night. Is that three and a half?
25:29AQ Shipley:Yeah. I mean, Niners plus three and a half.
25:31Pat McAfee:There is a 75 or 89 % on the money line for the Rams, 75 % on the Rams, minus 3.5, says DraftKings stats and analytics. Shout to DraftKings, the best sports book on earth. If you are in the continental United States, DraftKings available for you. If you're of age and agree to be responsible about it and not an asshole, join us on DraftKings. Now, let's talk about the rest of the NFL as opposed to just Los Angeles Rams. Odds on favorite. D-Butch has a question about the trenches.
26:02AQ Shipley:Yeah, excuse me. I can't remember. I think it may have been the Bills who was your top O-line last year, but who are some of your best O-line groups going into this year? And is there an O-line group that you expect maybe to take a step back or forward? Yeah, that's a good question. I think the Giants are a team that I think are going to take a step forward. I still love that Bills group. I really do. I'm concerned about the Steelers. I think they're going to take a step back. I apologize over there, boys, but I do think, again, we talk scheme and fit is everything. I think they were built to kind of run in Arthur Smith's wide zone scheme, and now Mike McCarthy's a more pro-style, downhill, gap scheme, inside zone kind of world that you saw them run in a lot.
26:43I think they struggled handling that.
26:45Pat McAfee:You're saying who cares about the quarterback? Is that what you're saying, AQ? They're going down. Oh, no. Pittsburgh's pretty pumped up. Don't worry. He's going to get to you, okay? No, we are so much. We'll get there. We'll get there. We will get there. The Patriots, I think they have a lot of moving pieces there, So we'll be interested to see how Will Campbell handled that. And he comes back out of that. Another group that I think is going to be vastly improved is the Houston Texans. I think they are going to be a lot better. They got big Trent Brown out there. They got Wyatt Teller who came over from the Browns.
27:15I love Ratliff who they drafted from Georgia Tech. I think they really improved that group. But yeah, I think, listen, it's the Bills. I think it's, you know, the Ravens, I think will still be in there. They got some really good players. I think the Raiders vastly improved with their free agent haul. I think these are some of the teams that will be better. Will they be great? I mean, time will tell. But, again, I think you're looking at the teams that are always good. I mean, the Bills, the Ravens, right? I think the Niners are going to have a good group up front. The Rams will do their thing.
27:41Seahawks will be good. They got a lot of the same guys returning. I think the Chiefs got a little bit better. We'll see what happens.
27:47Pat McAfee:One team you didn't say there was Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are awesome. We know they're very good. Like, again, I think that's kind of to be expected. Yeah, but you didn't say. You didn't say. You didn't say. You didn't say. Scotland's gone now. No, they're always up there. But again, Lane Johnson's already kind of announced this is his last year, right? So, yeah, I mean, Juergens is really good. I love the fact that my guy Willie Lampkin, all 5 '10", made the team this year. He'll be challenging for that backup swing spot. I'm excited. I'm excited that a 5 '10 offensive lineman is an active NFL football player, boys.
28:20Pat McAfee:That's right. Coming from a 5 '9", one. You're the man. Ladies and gentlemen, that's your football champion. Thank you, Shipley. Thank you. If there was a guy named Juergens, he was going to make sure that he got his name in there. Yeah, you know. Loves Juergens. Yeah, we've talked about using his exploit. Yeah, he was a center guard out of North Carolina, undersized guy, but he is just an absolute dog in the trenches. I believe he's listed at 5 '11". Not a big boy. Meaner than a wet mule. I like that. 5 '11", 290. Is that Willie Lampkin? Yeah, he's listed at 5 '11", 290. North Carolina, second season.
28:54Pat McAfee:He plays center for Philadelphia. He goes, you know, to be an undersized center, that's okay. Every other position, you're in trouble. Yeah. And I do appreciate that Willie Lampkin at 5 '11 or 5 '10, whatever AQ says he is, he was also built for the bull rush. Yes, he was. How about AQ saying, when I was playing Aaron, I was just – Anchor. I'm trying to get my – I'm trying to get back, let him get a running start, and then just – I'm just eating this. Sit down. I guess I'm just eating this entire thing. He would just get – I mean, the amount of shake he has in such a quick time. He's a wide receiver going against offensive linemen, and he has the power of a defensive line.
29:30Pat McAfee:So he shakes and then gets these big guys off balance because they're not used to seeing that. And as soon as they get off balance, oh, yeah, he's got heavy hands too. Boom, let me go ahead and get that. Oh, you're a good athlete. You settle yourself in. Sweet, I'm going the other way on you. He's a boxer as well. And then Miles Garrett. You saw the rip and lean on one of the – I forget what – boom. I mean, he's up underneath that guy. He didn't even have to get down to the ground there, which he can do him and Vaughn Miller for the size they have and for how long they've been in the league and everything like that the amount of lean they have and the ability to get low is just such a weapon whenever these tackles are what six six six seven or whatever come on down come on down it's unbelievable the athleticism that's on display on defensive lines and every team that wins seemingly as of late has to have like four first round caliber D linemen four have to be able to get home if you can't get home with four then obviously you have to pull somebody from coverage and quarterbacks will eat you apart.
30:23Pat McAfee:So you have to be able to get home with four. And in the modern NFL, you certainly have to be able to maybe win a Super Bowl with two guys, not letting you get a first down. Absolutely crazy. Let's say in the sports world, but away from the NFL. Okay. You know, because we do like to cover, you know, things happening in sports as a whole. Yes, we do. We've had a great offseason of that. Yeah. A bunch of it. We've done a lot of sports. World Cup was incredible. Thank you, World Cup. We were in there, weren't we? We were really in there. Home run derby. Thank you, golf. Home run derby. We were in there.
30:50Pat McAfee:golf did their thing obviously the W the NBA everybody college World Series College World Series is great let's go out in years who went up winning that North Carolina no I know they lost Oklahoma that was good baseball team they weren't ranked I think going in Oklahoma kind of got hot there and Omaha did their thing shot the North Carolina took out West Virginia need you to win obviously going forward but every once in a while we like to celebrate things happen around the whole entire sports yeah ladies and gentlemen it's time for things happening around sports. Hell yeah! Okay, let's go to the U.S.
31:21Pat McAfee:Open. This is a big one. I don't like the timing of the U.S. Open, but I love that it happens on our soil. It's the last of the Grand Slam. We got an American who could serve the hell out of the tennis ball late last night. Ben Shelton. Hey! Yeah, that's coming right down the pike there. 145 miles an hour in the final set he had last night as he gets a huge dub in four sets. He lost the first one, 6-1. First set. Ben. Trinity Rodman's boyfriend here. Yeah. in all eyes, America in the U.S. Open. He loses the first set to this guy. Backwards at 6-1. Then he wins the second set, 6-1. Then he goes to overtime, 7-6.
31:56Pat McAfee:Then he wins 6-2. Ben Shelton wins in four. I think he got the nerves and the jitters potentially out. And he slices and dices. Now, Tennessee is something you've got to be super competitive and super passionate about. I don't know if you saw at the end of this particular one here. Louis Bosson says, good game, everybody. Really good job. obviously good win I appreciate that it's just kind of accepted in tennis too like yeah they're gonna get upset out there every once in a while you gotta I love that and there's people sitting on top of you oh yeah like Shelton was up 6-1 or something like that and his backhand just stopped working okay his backhand just stopped working at the end he was having a full yell at himself conversation i mean they are very active yelling at themselves very close to people and i was hearing what he was saying i'm like you guys stop talking to yourself like this hey enough of talking you're listening yeah you're very exactly got to be careful what you're saying because you're listening they are very active very open with their emotions and i assume it's just from uh that young age but we all couldn't help but just laugh our asses off here and i appreciate that that's just a part of the sport, D, bud.
33:12AQ Shipley:Absolutely. And as you know, we play team sports, and this can be a team sport if you're playing with two, but when you're out there by yourself, just like golf, yeah, there is a lot of self-talk, positive and negative. And look, I'm not, hey, whatever gets you going, you know, whatever type of athlete you are, for some people, it's negative self-talk. For some people, it's positive. Obviously, for Ben, it's negative. Yeah, it seems a bit negative for Louis here,
33:35Pat McAfee:who loses to the USA's Emma Navarro. Shout out USA doing that to a friend.
33:39AQ Shipley:I just got to get that out.
33:40Pat McAfee:Yeah, everyone's Yeah. Leave it on the court. Fuck that racket. I agree. The racket lost it. You know, there's a lot of conversations about is it the tool or is it the person operating the tool? In this particular case, I think it's obvious that it was definitely the racket. Yeah. Might have been the backup one as well because she actually walks off without a racket. So it might have been the number two. Hey, you know what? I'm not going to use you, you son of a bitch. Get ready. Yeah, subbed in one maybe. Yeah. Yeah, and said you could hit it. Shout out to the U.S. Open. And tennis is kind of doing the thing.
34:07Pat McAfee:Let's go to soccer, by the way. I don't know if you guys saw La Liga. The Spaniards, who are reigning World Cup champs. Sure. They dominated the World Cup final. So much so that people started hating soccer. Yeah. Messi didn't even get to touch the damn ball. La Liga has a lot of talent. Well, there's a young lad. Lamine Yamal. Left-footed sensation. Highly cool. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Missile. What? Absolute missile. Still has his hand taped. I don't know if that's just his thing or not. It seems like he's going through it. But Lamine Yamal, obviously, future goat. He was actually baptized in waters by Leo Messi.
34:39Pat McAfee:So great. He followed that entire thing. That's just filthy. Goalie had zero chance. And I think this has been happening since he's, what, like 15 years old? Gumpsh, how long have we known this guy, and how long has he been playing pro? And what team is this again? Barcelona. He's been there since he was 15. Two goals here. Him and Rafinha have just been lighting up La Liga ever since it started. This is their third match of the season. How many goals did he have here? He had two. Rafinha has five goals in three games, I believe. Those two are unstoppable. Oh, five goals in three games. He had two goals.
35:07Pat McAfee:My goat scores four in one game. Who? Yeah, Leo. Soccer. Four goals in the MLS. The toughest competition in the world. Leo gets a guy that does not want to try to stop. Three of them. Four of them. Right boot. Side panel. No big deal. Leo Messi. Stupid. That's what he says. I'm going. I'm over the top of you. And then a free kick that he wraps around the back post. Hey. Nasty. Four goals. One game. Shout out to Montreal getting their ass kicked. Is that what it was or Toronto? Montreal. Okay. Montreal, oui, oui, bonjour, ça va, not good. Leo Messi's coming to town, and he's scoring all of the goals.
35:46Pat McAfee:Had no idea you could score four goals in one game, D-Bot.
35:49AQ Shipley:I mean, where is Montreal in the rankings right now, Gumps? They're absolute dog shit, but that's just how they are kind of every season, yeah. No, they got a team. They'd be great in, like, the Premier League. They're just having a tough year right now in the MLS. Exactly. That's what we're trying to say.
36:04Pat McAfee:La Liga, La Minha, Mal, two goals. Leo Messi in the MLS.
36:10AQ Shipley:I don't think they should be talked about. I mean, obviously Leo, he's the GOAT. Class. If we go back to La Liga and you look at those guys and that pitch. These guys? Yeah. Montreal and Barcelona scrimmage and they tied. Yeah. Really? Yeah, that happened.
36:26Pat McAfee:It wasn't televised. It was the greatest game never seen. Oh, okay. Yeah, it was something we just heard about. It was only alleged, but from our understanding, Montreal can keep up with the top clubs overseas. That's why Yamal has his hand wrapped, because after they tied, he punched the wall. He was so frustrated. You better be happy. People are going to get so mad that we even said that. Let's say in soccer, let's go to college soccer. Indiana, the Bloomington Lads, down 1-0 to Louisville. Louisville, by the way, has got Ole Miss week one. I'm excited for that game. And Indiana, height 14, great number.
36:59Pat McAfee:Hezzy, Dippy, Bendy, how you doing? Keep it moving. That is Easton Bogard, an absolute banger. It ended up being a 1-1 draw. Since I was coming out of high school in 2005, Indiana was a nationally prominent soccer team. So I think that's continued throughout its entirety. Even when the basketball team was good, then the basketball team got bad. The soccer team, I believe, has always remained good. Football team's good now. Soccer team's still good. So I think they have been kind of a staple down there. So I assume there's a lot of NIL opportunities with them because of how long and how deep their history is.
37:30Pat McAfee:What is the name of their team at TST? Who's your army? Very good team. One of the best teams there every single year. It's all alumni of the Indiana team. And you've got like 40-year-olds there, and you've got like 22-year-olds there. Indiana is a little bit of a wagon in the soccer world, and that is an absolute clapper. I saw on the internet, because you were just talking about their history, clarify if this is true. This is a reverse Ted Lasso where Sig was the soccer coach for a long, long time, and then he switched over to football and won the national championship. What? I don't know if Sig was ever in the soccer world, but I do think the Indiana coach has been around a long time.
38:01Pat McAfee:I think he's been around a long time.
38:03AQ Shipley:I think he's nasty.
38:07Pat McAfee:What we've seen there is two goalies having no clue and having no chance, I guess. Let's go to football FCS, shall we? Here's William and Mary versus Villanova. Look at the time on the clock. 58 seconds left. Game's over. Down 10. William and Mary hits a 40-yarder. How you doing, down 7? 53 seconds left. Got to hit an onside kick. In the modern world, are onside kicks possible? Oh, hits the double bouncer. Bounces off a chin. There's a scrum. Who gets it? Yes. William and Mary down seven with the ball. 50 seconds left in the game. First down. What are you going to do with it? Oh, William and Mary down all game.
38:48Pat McAfee:Decides to make a huge play. Come on. Touchdown. Got to make the extra point now, William and Mary. Now you're down one with 22 seconds left. Remember, this started with down 10. 58 seconds left. Third and 10. Villanova throws a pick. Big return. Five seconds left in Villanova territory. 45-yard kick. Can't see it. Good score bug. Great kick. Game over. William and Mary, 35. Villanova, 32. Villanova up 10 with 58 seconds left in the game. Trick off that entire thing in a series of events that involves an interception, an onside kick return, and two field goals. What a game. What a sport. What a time to be a William & Mary tribe member.
39:36Pat McAfee:The tribe, yes. William & Mary tribe. Sean McDermott, Mike Tomlin. Yeah, absolutely. They got deep history over there, William & Mary. Yeah. A lot of footballers. Doomsday coaches, huh? Yeah. Not only head coaches, electrifying, thrilling companies.
39:49AQ Shipley:Yeah.
39:49Pat McAfee:That's what the tribe's all about. Let's go to another FCS game, shall we? Idaho, up three. 18 seconds left. Ball into 35. Cal Poly's quarterback, Anthony Grigsby Jr., rolls to his right. Ah! Tavion's down there somewhere. Yes, he is. Oh, man. Touchdown. Cal Poly wins the game with a last-second heave. That wasn't really that good, but it was a great catch and not the best coverage as Idaho has to take the trip back home. Losers. D, but your thought here on the mistake that was made and kind of the execution.
40:25AQ Shipley:I mean, this is an unbelievable play. You're rolling to your right and you throw it across against your body. And a great adjustment by the wide receiver reaching back, making the play. As a defense, you know, college, pro, even high school, the day before the game, the night before the game, you're walking through these situations, in the game situations. There's much time left on the clock. What are we going to do? But it's much, much different when the live bullets are firing. Just an unbelievable play, unbelievable finish. That's why you play until it's triple zeros on the clock.
40:50Pat McAfee:Now, there's no captions, but number two down here, I think, immediately realizes what had happened. I appreciate his accountability there. Touchdown, Tavion, number two. I mean, that's tough.
41:03AQ Shipley:You look at the play one more time.
41:05Pat McAfee:That's kind of a back shoulder. Yeah, he's running with him. Fourth and eight, too. You've got to cover the sticks because they're in field goal range. There's a little drag route coming across. Could be a first down.
41:12AQ Shipley:He's got great leverage, and then the wide receiver does a great job with the body control. Slight little push off here, and then you get that ball making play. I mean, that's a big-time play.
41:21Pat McAfee:It might have been unguardable there, by the way. It's a big-time play. Yeah, because you can't picket fence at the goal line there because first down obviously gives field goal opportunity. So you have to play the sticks still. You have to play for a game-tying field goal.
41:33AQ Shipley:It starts up front. It always does. Start running back again. You can't, especially the right-handed quarterback. You can't just give up the edge. Tom, run it all the way back, please. Oh, my God. No edge. No edge. I mean, before you even snap the ball, you don't have an edge. This guy is lined up inside, so I'm putting this on coaching. I'm putting this on the D-line coach. Wow. I mean, you know what? DB coach, DBs, you guys are all right. Cuss those assholes out. They left you out to dry.
41:58Pat McAfee:Okay, number two, that's probably what he was saying. Yeah. Right there in that moment. Let's go to another incredible high school finale. This is Pahokee. They ran a double pass here where Uzeris Boswell airs it out to Corian Davis. Uzeris passed the line of scrimmage. Who cares? Final play. Pahokee. Wow. Could go all the touchdown. Helmet off. Pahokee Blue Devils to walk it off over Royal Palm Beach. Now, Pahokee has a lot of history in the sport of football, and I believe they chase rabbits down there. So if you thought he was going to get caught towards the end, absolutely not. Congrats to Pahokee.
42:41Pat McAfee:And I like a little drop of the play. Some people are saying he's passed the line scrimmage clearly. No. But no. Is he the marker?
42:48AQ Shipley:We all talk about it. Look where the marker is. If you look at the marker, he's definitely behind. Big time play. You got to have some big balls to run this one as well. You break that tackle and you still make the throw.
42:59Pat McAfee:Clearly behind the marker. Way behind the marker. Way behind the marker. I agree. I like what ESPN West Palms did with all these advertisements at the bottom of their face. You damn right. Hey, listen. Right after he scored this, he stopped right by Duffy's. Uh-huh. Okay, he had himself an incredible chicken parm. Uh-huh. Yep. A little mozzarella, pizza, wings for the lads. And I know they're just teenagers, but they were offered non-alcoholic. Oh, yeah. Like Long Island High School. A couple of early examples. Everyone's dream is to play in the Boca Raton Bowl. Exactly. When you play for them.
43:29Right.
43:29Pat McAfee:And that's what they're playing for, really. And then they stopped down there at Land Rover, Palm Beach. And they said, you know what, actually, I want. Where I bought my first car. Really? Yep. And then you went there. But these guys said, I want to go get a Ford. That's what they said. Actually, give me a Ford right there next to the Palm Beach Land Rover. And then Colligan, we know what that is. We love Colligan. Kaiser University. What's that? That's the one below there. Seahawks?
43:50AQ Shipley:Seahawks. But Pahokee, this is where Anquan Bolden went to school. It's down there in the muck. So you got Pahokee, you got Belle Glades, that area. That's Antonio Holmes, Fred Taylor. And Hall of Famer Ricky Jackson also went to this school, man. So they produce a lot of NFL talent out in this area. You said down there where? It's called the muck.
44:07Pat McAfee:Okay, what part is that? And what is the humidity?
44:10AQ Shipley:Is that the Everglades? Belle Glades. So, yeah, it's kind of everglazed. What is it, like Palm Beach? It's hard to even explain because it is Palm Beach, but it's different Palm Beach. So, like, Boca's in Palm Beach County as well, but there's much, much different places. Pahokee and Boca? Yeah. They're different? Much, much different places, but still Palm Beach. All five, six, one. Bottom right. Boca and Thumbull. That's what you're saying. Yeah, I mean, that's kind of all of us southeast, you know, Palm Beach. Yeah, but we would say Pahokee. They have their own people. Okay. They're all universe.
44:44Pat McAfee:I love it. I can't wait to get down there, Pahoki. It looks like an electrifying environment. Look at the crowd going crazy as Pahoki gets a huge win. Okay, let's go to, yeah, Indoor. So, thought he was about to moss me. Hate to break D. I think he did. Thesis. Give me that. Lose his helmet. Hits cement. Makes catch. Celebrates with fan. That is arena football highlight to a team. Now, I don't know what the rules are. And if 21 posted this, I think he needs to know he did get bossed here. Pretty good. About as much as you could in arena football. Now, Dilworth might have got a concussion, might have cracked his helmet.
45:23Pat McAfee:But I appreciate his commitment to team. Congratulations to the Arkansas Diamondbacks who get a huge cutty as he's flipped over the hockey boots. What are they? Cement does not budge, I can tell you that. Is that good? Is that a catch in this league? Yeah, it's a catch in this league. In my league, yes. And also, look, fans right there say that's a catch. I think they were non-biased. Now, granted, they were celebrating with him. People in there, got a couple thousand in there watching Dilworth lay it all on the line for Arkansas. I like kidding. Cowboy hat going crazy. That's a big-time catch.
45:55Pat McAfee:You know, but number 21, if he posted this and thought he was about to moss me, I mean, he kind of did, bro. He kind of did. I don't know how to tell you that. Okay, let's go to an NFL preseason game. Jordan Stott moves into the Giants punter alongside Harbaugh from Baltimore. Had an 81-yard punt here. What? Line of scrimmage was 19. Longest punt you could possibly have at this moment is 81 yards. Obviously, do some quick math. Could have been an 80-yard net, but instead, preseason football. Oh, no. Sick. No. Disgusting. Heartbreaker. No. I mean, come on, man. 61-yard net still looks good. Okay, I will say 80-yard net, much better, obviously.
46:33Pat McAfee:And these are the types of decisions that are being made on cut day. Who can cover a kick? Who can do good football? 80-yard net, ball at the half-yard line. The playbook for the offense, real small. 61-yard net, ball at the 20, playbook, real big. Just actual game changers there.
46:48AQ Shipley:I know you have PTSD from shit like this. Great punts and people. Jagoffs go down there and do this shit. Because I know it's a defense. We're down there on this sideline, strapping helmet up. And it goes from the offense starting on the minus one to the 25-yard line, the 20-yard line, whatever it is. I mean, like what?
47:05Pat McAfee:I almost got into a fist fight with somebody on a sideline. And obviously it was a moment where there was some tempers flying and flaring or whatever. But it's a huge change. Huge. It's a huge change of things. For the defense, for the team, for the momentum, for everything. Huge plays. Obviously they'll learn from this. Can I say something? Mm-hmm. that Jets logo in the end zone is one of the worst logos I've ever seen. Okay, so you just don't like the way the J looks or what? There's no J. The lettering is fine. What is up the top? It's just a – That's a Concord. That's their new logo, dude.
47:45Pat McAfee:It sucks. Is that the Concord plane? It looks like it could be potentially. What if it was on top like it was on the back? It should be an F-14. Okay. That's fair. That would help. It should just be like the center logo. I don't know why. That's what it's supposed to be. It's one of the worst logos I've ever seen in sport. Okay, but what if they win and then it's a cool logo? It looks like a Lancer, to be honest. Just that kid. Okay. What? Just that kid. Okay, speaking of the Jets, their future owner, who might change the branding because that's what he does, on the courts, delivering dimes. Gary Vee looking like Joker from one paint to the next.
48:20Pat McAfee:Outlet, outlet, outlet. How about a bucket? Oh, shit. Yeah, Gary Vee still got it. He might own the Jets later. No easy buckets either. Ever. He's fouling your ass.
48:32AQ Shipley:This is the slowest fast break I've ever seen in my life.
48:35Pat McAfee:Incredible pass, though. Gary had the read down perfectly on the speed. I mean, that was incredible. They run delayed breaks. All right. That's happening around the sports world. Thank you, sports. Thank you, sports. Thank you, sports. U.S. Open's happening right now. It's real, right? Bruce, this is a real thing. This is a huge deal. Oh, yeah, yeah. Carlito is back. He had a wrist injury for a while. That's Carlos Alcaraz. He is one of the two best players in the world alongside Yannick Sinner. But, yeah, it's rolling. He's probably plus 185, Carlos Alcarazzo. Any inside jokes you could drop about guys that, you know, maybe nobody else cool you.
49:10He said his name right after there. You know, Carlito, we're close. It's his nickname. His hair looks sweet. Yeah. Long hair looks great. He had that cool brown tank top on. The Nike commercial, too. He's looking awesome.
49:21Pat McAfee:Yeah, I've been watching. I've been watching a lot of it. It is electrifying. and this is one of the super-duper ones, right? This is the last, just like golf, this is the last one, I believe, of the year. We start with the Australian Open and then, I believe, go to the French, then Wimbledon, and then we round it out with the U.S. Open. It is in Flushing, New York. Okay, and we were over there this past. We were right in the middle of U.S. Open headquarters. It's a – I was going to say fantastic, but that would be an interesting way to describe it. Proper establishment. It did. There it is. It felt like a proper vibe.
49:57Pat McAfee:Yeah. And everybody had a proper positive vibe, too. Oh, yeah. We were at the U.S. Open. It was a cool vibe, I must say, that I could have never expected from a country club sport that is tennis, and I never really got into much. But whenever the greats are playing, obviously I watched. Like, I was watching Joker whenever he was playing. Fed whenever he was playing. This Mr. Alcaraz fellow whenever he was playing. Who was the— Sinner. Sinner, yeah. Yeah, but who's the lefty? The lefty with the headband. Rafa? Agassi? Yeah, Rafa. when Nadal was playing. I would watch the headlines. And Serena, like when Serena was watching, I feel like I watched more tennis than ever.
50:29Pat McAfee:I watched the stars. It feels like America, if we have a star, people will watch. Is Shelton going to be that guy for us? Is there a chance? Do we have any of those guys in the pipeline right now? Ben Shelton's had a tough year. He lost in the first round at Wimbledon. He lost in the second round in straight sets at the French Open. But he did make a run in the Australian Open, which is also hardcore. court because of his massive serve. When you're serving at 141 on a hard court, basically nobody can return it, but if you're on grass or clay it can be a little bit easier. So he has a chance to make a deep run here, but at the Australian, he ran into Yannick's center and lost to him in straight sets.
51:07So can he make that next step on his best surface? We will see. But going four sets and losing the first one, 6-1, not an ideal start I'd say to his U.S. Open campaign.
51:17Pat McAfee:I heard, okay, thank you. Not a great start to his U.S. Open campaign. His girlfriend was there. Obviously, the lights were on because he is an American. Commentators, who I don't remember who it was, did a great job. I think Fowler was on the call. Was it McEnroe? McEnroe's brother. Chris McPendry. They were incredible. It was really – they gave me a lot of information. I appreciated that as somebody that was just watching. They were talking clearly his nerves and jitters got him in the first – like clearly. 6-1, that opening set. I assume he went over to his thing. I don't know what he did to his racket, if it was anything like Miss Loewe Boiswun, if he did that.
51:50Pat McAfee:But he ends up just 6-1 the second set, turns it on. So it felt like what the tennis people were saying. Like, maybe he does have the opportunity now with that out of the way. Like, he got embarrassed by this guy in front of his, what, his girl, his country. The queen? Everybody. I don't know if the queen was there. Who was there? Queen Latifah. Oh, sorry. Queen Latifah was there. Roger Goodell was there last night. The queen hug. The queen is dead, actually. Who's the super, super fashion lady? Hannah Montour? Yeah, she was there. No, not Hannah Montana. Montana was not there, though. I don't know if Hannah Montana was there, actually.
52:22Pat McAfee:She could have been. It felt like that's what last night was for tennis. Everybody was seemingly there. And it was good to see Shelton get a big-time win. But I thought to myself after a meeting show, I'm like, if this guy was to go, I think tennis would do very well for tennis in this entire thing. But tennis will hold up, obviously, because we're in the middle of a Grand Slam here. And obviously, the U.S. Open's a big deal. Now, let's pivot away from sports. Let's talk about movies. Sports tie-in, though. NASCAR. Sure, sure. I got a chance to catch up with Tom Cruise this past weekend, and I saw a lot of people on the internet say, this is the dumbest life of all time?
52:56Pat McAfee:Yeah. Yes, it is. Friday morning, I get told, like, hey, Tom and his team were wondering if you would want to come catch up with him about a big announcement they're making tomorrow. So I said, I'm going to need some more information on what that is. They said, days of thunder. He's announcing it from Daytona. Cold trickle's coming back. I said, holy hell, let me see if I can make that happen. I get down there and I get a chance to talk to Tom about not only Days of Thunder, but the way he views life and everything. It was an honor, ladies and gentlemen. Here's me and Tom Cruise chit-chatting in Daytona.
53:29Pat McAfee:And it ends with, I think, a phenomenal finale. Ladies and gentlemen, here it is. I study a system and then I see if I, and then I improve it. Just like you did. Yeah, bingo. Yeah, yeah. I understand what you're doing. Yeah, we learned a lot of things. You learn it, you look at it, you go, I think I can do better. Exactly, I think I could... Yes, yes. We went from... Good speed. With Digger we went from six hours makeup. They're the best people in the world. What I did was I got everything together. I was like, look, all you got to do is the math. There's 24 hours in the day. If I'm in makeup for six hours and I'm on set for 12 hours...
54:02Pat McAfee:Okay, all of a sudden I got six hours to sleep. And I have two hours to get out of it. Okay, we got four hours now of life. Yeah, so I was like, okay, so I don't mind it. I don't need to sleep. But I was like, look, we're going to get this to under an hour. And here's the thing. Like I went, they said, that's impossible. I said, well, if you say it's impossible, then you can't do it. So what I said was, is let's just say it might be possible. So what I did was I had a guy, you know, come in and put up a board. And then we just put, how long does it take to put each piece up? Timed it. Started to work on their motions, everything they did, so that every motion became like a ballet.
54:37And that ballet turned in. And then suddenly, before they knew it, it was three hours. And they were like, no, we never thought it. And then it was two hours. And they were like, no. And I was like, hey, might be possible. Maybe. Yeah, it might be possible. And they started getting into it. They started feeling better. But then they got it into under an hour by the end. They were pumped.
54:56Pat McAfee:OK, so that type of, I don't want to say obsession, but ability to expect out of not only other people, but yourself, do you think that's been your whole life? Yeah, it has been. My whole life has been, I want to be competent. I got fired from a job when I was, I must have been eight years old cutting grass. Oh, this is your Michael Jordan story right here? No, when I got fired. Michael Jordan didn't make his high school varsity team as a freshman. I was eight years old. Yeah, they started a weapon. I was like, I got fired. I was like, I better figure this out. Studied everybody else, and then I, how would I cut this grass?
55:29I went back and I said, I'll cut it for free. And I did it until I learned it. I thought, okay, I like studying things and becoming common. That's what I wanted. You know that.
55:37Pat McAfee:Yeah, yeah. You know that. I love it. You know that. I like watching you work, bro. You feel that. I like learning from you. Yeah, well, I study you. No, don't study me, brother. The world needs you to remain you. You said you don't need to sleep there whenever we were talking about Digger. I like sleep. Yeah, we all do. We're talking about Digger. Yeah, you said you don't need to sleep, though. How? Like, so, when I think of Tom Cruise, I assume you're one of the guys that wakes up at, like, same time, we're eating the same food, we're doing the same thing, we're learning this. Is that how you are?
56:03No, here's the thing. I mean, it depends on what I have to do. Depends on what I'm doing, what I'm training, you know, because I'm constantly studying something, whether it's singing or dancing. I'm studying movies and lenses. It depends on where I am. I definitely, you know, since I was a kid, I'm studying the body to go. How do I utilize the body to learn how to fight, to learn how to sprint, to learn how to...
56:26Pat McAfee:You have perfect running form, too. We've seen that shit. Dude, you're an athlete. In the snow, I saw it in Top Gun. I saw the perfect form in there. So you're always striving to learn. Yeah, I'm always learning. I'm constantly trying to learn. I'm a student. I respect people that have these skills, and I'll go in and I'll study those skills and then see what they know. That's how I look at movies. When I started out, I studied every department, and then I studied the studio system, and then I studied distribution because I'll write a goal up, like I want to attain this, and then I go, how many things do I have to learn to be able to get there?
57:00Yeah. So that's kind of how I do it. And then execute. And then execute. And then execute. And again. You know what it's like. You have game speed, you have rehearsal, and you have game speed. In order to understand your own skills, you need to be in the game. Can I get it up to game speed? So in making movies, as we're going through it, it's a team. It's everyone coming together to be able to have that level of skill and ability. And how do we get everyone's level up to that?
57:25Pat McAfee:Yeah, everybody's following your lead too. Your coach and quarterback, bro. Which leads to this. Welcome back, Cole Trickle, bro. Come on. Okay, so you just told me off air there a little bit. You've been thinking about this a long time? A long time. I've been thinking about Cold Trickle for a long time. I love this sport. I grew up just taking cars in the back streets before I had my license, and racing, and country roads, and looking at dirt tracks. And I love NASCAR, and I love racing, and airplanes, and motorcycles. We did Top Gun, and I took this story to Don Simpson and Jerry Brookham and produced, and Tony Scott came on.
57:55After the first one, also, I've just been thinking about how can I do it? How can I seat the audience into another journey with this character?
58:02Pat McAfee:Yeah, most sequels suck. So what you did with Top Gun, what you did with Top Gun, I think makes us off. So I am a massive fan of yours, as you know. Thank you. And I think we all, as moviegoers and people that have got to watch you over your entire career, from sliding in your underwear to obviously doing everything you do, I think we know that you only do good shit. Like, I think that's a real thing. Thank you. So, like, I think Top Gun has made a lot of people super excited about this because they're like, you saw what he did with Top Gun. And for people that don't know Days of Thunder, it's kind of like a NASCAR Top Gun.
58:34Pat McAfee:It's like the whole thing. It's how people are describing it, right? Like how buy-in you are, a little bit of a wild child, okay, able to do it, got to get buckled in a little bit, okay? So it's a similar storyline, different sports. So what you did with the sequel to Top Gun, I think everybody's like, yes! We're going for it. And I feel like we really got something. You know, Annie, enormously talented. She's going to be owner, you know, engineer. I found a way in. You know, there's technically a lot of things that we, when you're doing stuff, like even with the aviation, the stuff, how do we tell those stories?
59:04I spent years training in aerobatics, training from helicopters to jets to airplanes, and studying aerial photography and creating aerial photography. So we're creating stories like, what can I tell with the motion? Those are things that I'm looking at with NASCAR and with these cars. I love the culture. You know, it's going to have, it's a real immersive cultural story that's going to have racing and it's going to, it's like how do we do it? So we're going to be creating knowledge as we go along.
59:35Pat McAfee:Okay, so you have to study the sport obviously. And you already know, you have a good baseline from way back in the day. You said you've been thinking about it for a while. Is he driving? What are we doing? Oh, he's driving. Okay, we didn't know if crew chief obviously, we didn't know owner, we didn't know what to do. Here's the thing, if I'm making a movie about airplanes, I'm flying. If I'm making a movie like, no, no, I'm driving. Can I ask you a kind of emotional question? Sure. Yeah. Okay, so Val Kilmer, obviously everything. Robert Duvall here, like two situations. How is that for you as like a human, like taking a trip back in time from what it was?
1:00:07Pat McAfee:Because I'm going to be honest. Yeah. I don't know what the hell you do, okay? I am a breed of white that is not aging the same as you. You obviously look unbelievable still. and I'm sure you watch the old Top Gun and the new one and you probably see a lot of things, but for us it's like, damn, Tom looks unbelievable. And what you're still doing, it's like taking those emotional journeys a little bit right back in time, I assume is something for you or no? Yeah, look, I admire, you know, I was able to make two films of Bobby and Val. You know, to have Val there in Top Gun, it was beautiful. You just see the power of those artists.
1:00:40And I think you'll see how we treat it in this movie and the journey of this story. I don't want to give too much away because the tone of NASCAR and the tone of these films, it has a joy. It has, they're interesting, they're humorous, they're characters in NASCAR, you know what I mean? Oh yeah. It's a real community. Anyway, those artists, I feel very grateful that I had the opportunity to work with them, see how they work, and create those scenes together, and create the movie, so.
1:01:06Pat McAfee:Hey, that Hublith Vow, man, we're all crying. I couldn't imagine you too. Yeah, definitely, most definitely, and it was amazing because you could see him. He was Iceman, like that guy was so talented with how he just became that character. He was Iceman instantly. And I just think he's a brilliant actor. You look at his movies, I've always admired what Val did and to be able to work with him. That scene we were acting, just how he regarded Maverick, you know, the sniff, you know, he's that thing, he just knew. He just became it and it was it was effortless to act with him. It is emotional when I see it it's emotional.
1:01:46Hell yeah. It was awesome for us as fans. It's emotional for me as a person and just someone I admire Val. I remember when we did Top Gun that you know I really wanted him to play that character when we started. It was like I couldn't ever imagine anyone else but Val playing that role. Well it worked. Yeah. He did it. He brought it.
1:02:04Pat McAfee:I'm excited to see what you do with the casting for Days of Doctors. And Danny is like, you can see, that woman, she has comedy chops and dramatic and just real voltage as an artist. Yeah, like you, an icon. So anytime you get two icons together, I think it's pretty good. This is going to be fun, man. I'm going to say this, and I don't know if I'm supposed to or not. I got an acting role in a movie. I was a World War II drill instructor. Come on. Yeah, man. Come on. I was in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I talked to you. It's a perfect role for you. Okay, I appreciate that. Good role. I can't see that.
1:02:35Pat McAfee:I don't think you've seen it yet, so let's wait until you get eyes on it. I talked to you. We got a chance to interview you. From the moment I found out about it before taping, and after we got done taping, you were so nice with your time, I asked you, I said, hey, let's just say a friend of mine was playing a World War II drill instructor movie and a Peter Berg movie that's coming out, and the shooting is in, like, four weeks or whatever, and you didn't blink. You looked at the camera, and you gave me, like, thespian 501. Have you gone and trained with the DIs? Have you met the DIs? Have you studied the DIs?
1:03:04Pat McAfee:What era is it? What is the temperature of your character? What's the history of your character? Ask Peter Berg what type of attitude this character... You gave me everything. So I want to let you know thank you for that. Yeah, it's my pleasure. And then you told me after you do all the studying, when you show up, you just be. And I want to let you know that if you wouldn't have told me that, I would have embarrassed myself all over this. I went down to Parris Island the next weekend. I stayed with the DIs. I did all the training. And then I could feel like literally right before it started, I thought of your ass.
1:03:29Pat McAfee:And I was like, all right, so Tom said that I should just fucking be right now. And hopefully it shows up. I think it did. I was much more confident and comfortable and I loved it. When it comes to characters like this, or Digger, which is vastly different. How do you prepare for the Digger character? Because I got people from your team telling me that this might be your best that you've ever done. It's a role that, it's such a joy. Look, Alejandro and Yari too, I've known him 26 years. To be able to, you know what it's like. It is just being and it is dreaming. and it's this kind of character in your work with Inyari 2, when you see what he brings and to be able to have that dialogue back and forth, the skill level that it takes to play a character like this, to understand the lenses, to understand that kind of comedy and find that kind of drama.
1:04:20And I think when you see it, it's so fun. And the actors that I'm working with are so good. What I love is it is the environment that Inyari 2, the table that he sets, the design of the film, the tone of the film, and the character is, in every way as an actor, it's just a joy to play. You sit back, I don't want people to see the scenes, you know, with performance, I'm just like, and it is that, I just work, you dream, and then you do that research, and then it is just be. It is, we're now rehearsing. To understand the framing, to understand the physicality, and explore that, that was, it's a hell of a lot of fun.
1:04:54I can't wait to see what you did, and I'm so glad that that worked out for you, that you did it. Well, we'll see, we'll see if it worked out. But here's the point. No, no, you did it. Let's not see. You did it. And it's a step. And as I say to everybody, when I work with people like, ah, you know, sometimes like they're worried to try stuff. I'm like, I'm easy. They go, I'm going to do this over here. I said, you don't have to tell me. You just do it. Let's play. You know, I'm with you. You know, I don't I'm not one of these people that's like, it's this way and that you're exploring together.
1:05:25And I like people to feel comfortable with. They can leap. They don't have to worry. You know, I'm going to embarrass myself. It's like, it's okay. We all have to feel safe to do it. You know what it's like? That's how you get the surprises. That's how, whatever it is and whatever, whatever thing, if you're, if you're worried about failure, you're thinking about failure. You know, if I'm jumping off a cliff and I'm thinking I'm going to not make it, all I'm thinking is that. It's like, I know I'm going to make it. Yes, definitely. But you prepare, you prepare, you prepare, you know?
1:05:55Pat McAfee:Yeah, it feels like you're constantly preparing and constantly wowing folks. And for me, as somebody who's such a fan of your business and somebody that's getting a chance to dabble in it, it's like the future of the industry, a lot of people say, we're on these little shoulders right here. Now, with Cold Trickle, Days of Thunder, obviously Digger coming out. This is summer 2028, I heard. Yeah, yeah. Okay, I assume you have other things in the works as well. The future of the movies, you have been very open about. I mean, you'll jump out a plane, I'll see you at the movies, I'll see you at the movies.
1:06:25Pat McAfee:we've seen you eat your popcorn. Your popcorn eating habits are unbelievable. You Randy Moss popcorn. You do that. We've seen it. We love that. But now it feels like Netflix is putting some things into theaters because they want to save that. Paramount, I believe, I just heard, wants to do 30 movies in a year. I think that is obviously could be a huge benefit, I think, to the theaters or the industry as a whole. What are your thoughts on where we are right now and where it's headed? From where we were in COVID when we thought everybody was going to stay home until you lied to everybody. I know.
1:06:56Yeah. I think it's awesome. Here's the thing. They're going to deliver 30 movies. It's a community to me. It's not an industry. The people in these studios are not just people in the studios. They're my family. I know we're going to get those 30 movies. I want us all to come together as a community to make help those 30 movies. It's not just going to be Paramount doing it. Everyone's going to need all the help of every artist to be able to do it. If we do well with those, those 30 movies are going to turn into 40 movies. You know, and for every studio, it's like to have that window and what it means.
1:07:29It's not good enough that I just get to make this movie. For me, that's, I see so many talented people that I want them to have that opportunity to make the films that they want and be able to, what do you call it, game speed. Okay, like you can have these artists, all these greats, they got to cut their teeth and learn in the same way that you get to act and you're learning. It's you take it and the next one and the next one. Every single one of them. The Inyaritus, the Spielbergs, the Nolans, me. All the opportunities that I've had. I want that for every writer, every director, every producer, every artist.
1:08:05And the only way you do it is we have to create an abundance. It's production begets production. And we've had one of the great summers from when I was in COVID where people were coming at me because they're like, why are you doing this? I'm like, I want people to have this opportunity. It's a beautiful art form. I want community. And we see how these numbers are coming back. And look at all these great films that we have. Record-breaking weekends in a movie. I know. And it's like, you look at it from Obsession and Nolan to Spider-Man to Prada. You know, one after the other. The way we get that is through also a crew.
1:08:41Like, the things that I'm doing are cutting edge. These kinds of storytelling, the only way you know, you can study something in a class. But you've got to be able to test it. And you've got to be able to see it with an audience. And you have to know these tools, how to use them and how to communicate. And get up to what it's like, I don't know how else to describe it except for like, you can practice, but then there's game speed. It's game day. Yeah, we'll see. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, it's game day. And when you're making a movie, every day is game day. And the skill level that it takes, and if we come together as a community to understand what audiences want, and tell our stories that you want to tell, but find ways that are entertaining that audience.
1:09:20You see the movies I make, there are a wide range of films, from smaller to bigger. We need the movies, and I want the movies for everyone. I want every studio I want. It's like, that's where we are. I want those people to have that opportunity and in those theaters to just keep the ball rolling.
1:09:37Pat McAfee:That's my, that's how I feel. There was a lot of people calling for the death of theaters. There was a lot of people calling for the death of theaters. Let me tell you, that's a whole other story. You were the front of the line. You were the front lines though saying like, see you at the movies, go to the movies, go to the movies. And that's another community thing too. Like my daughter and I went to the movies to see Spider-Man. That's the first one because she's three. Unbelievable. Great film too. Look at these. When you're looking at these artists, man, look how talented these people are. I've never been competitive.
1:10:08Making movies isn't competitive. It's not, I get inspired by seeing great book. And I look at it, I go, wow, that's amazing. The more films we make, the better it's going to be for theaters. Those theaters are going to be happy. I remember in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, you'd have five films opening. People go to the movie theaters and they do it. And I know you see how audiences are enjoying that experience. But we've got to make them. You've got to make it to develop those skills and abilities. And we have to, as a community, we got to help each other to do it. Congrats, man. Thank you. I can't wait to see you back behind the wheel.
1:10:45I can't wait to see you back behind the wheel. Thanks for being here, man. No problem. I can't wait to see you bigger.
1:10:48Pat McAfee:I can't wait to see you back as Cole Trickle. Thanks, brother. I can't wait for it all. Thanks for being here. Dude, lucky to be here. I'm excited about it. Daytona. Listen, you know, the first race of the season's here, the 500. Yeah. Last race of the regular season's here. Daytona, the whole. We're here. Yeah, we're here. We are at it. We're here, man. Hey, thank you for that. No, thanks for being here. Dude, you're the best. Thanks, Chris. Actually. Thank you. You're so cool. Thank you, man. You know who you are, so thank you. Can I take a photo with you? Yeah, let's do it. Hold on, let's get the...
1:11:17Cut. Here.
1:11:20Pat McAfee:What a time. Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Tom. Congratulations. Got a chance to go down to Pit Row, watch the entire operation and the team. His team around him are obviously an incredible group of people. We're very thankful for the opportunity and can't wait to see Digger one month from today and then Days of Thunder, summer of 2028. And I assume Tom's cooking up some other stuff as well. What a legend. What an icon. Can't believe I get to do that type of stuff. We're all very thankful for those opportunities. Now, on the other side, it's about to heat up. We got a fight press conference. Whoa.
1:11:53Pat McAfee:We got A.J. Hawk. We got baseball highlights. We got football. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. Take three.

1:13:02Pat McAfee:that's two in a row that's ours preseason we don't have enough time to go ahead and run it from the top because obviously we have people waiting the talks table is here at boss corner and at tone digs Ty we love you buddy sitting at one half of the hammer Cowboys table is a nine year NFL vet ladies and gentlemen Darius J. Bob Yes, sir. T-Bots, good to see you. Thank you for representing Jason Kendall in front of you.
1:13:28AQ Shipley:Always. Always. Even though Charles Johnson. I never mind him. He's the GOAT, but I love that skin. I met him. He was cool in Philly.
1:13:35Pat McAfee:Yeah, did you see what you just did? You gave him quite a bop there on his head, and guess who's still standing? Jason Kendall. That's a vibe. That guy wore no gloves whenever he was up at night. You met him? No cup either. Yeah, he's not like the most giant guy. He had no gloves, no cup. You like that move? What's that? The no gloves, no cup. Let me tell you what I did. When I was a young little boy, it cost about two bucks to get in the outfield, maybe a buck to get in the outfield. I used to have a friend, Bobby Hoose. His stepdad used to take us to games instead of going to school. So the only real sporting event, I went to a couple of Penguins games, was the Pirates games.
1:14:07Pat McAfee:And you went there understanding they were going to lose. But if anything good happened, you take it out of there having a blast. Jason Kendall hit a ding-dong, landed right in front of me. Picked it up. I got a baseball. Jason Kendall was A-OK with me. Then I hear stories about him beating people up. Like having a cocktail or two doing the entire thing. So that's why every time baseball comes up, I go, Jason Kendall's the greatest of all time. Because Jason Kendall made me a non-baseball fan, a fan of his because he was an absolute stud. Then you watch him jog around. He's got no gloves on. It's like, who is this guy?
1:14:38Pat McAfee:Tough son of a bitch. I like the way this guy operates. And then lo and behold, it turns out he's an absolute legend. And that's what everybody says. And it didn't carry over to me being a full-time Pirates fan. He was just like, if I got a chance to go to the games, I had a blast. Had a fishing net in there one time. Got a ball.
1:14:55AQ Shipley:Got it. I'm telling you. You didn't get to see any good team, any good World Series runs?
1:14:59Pat McAfee:I think I watched Mark McGuire. I think I watched him hit a ding-dong. I think I watched him hit one in TNC. Made it to the semis. Yeah, remember, I'm going to the afternoon game. Very cheap ticket. Where are you at? You're in the way outfield.
1:15:12AQ Shipley:We had Charles Johnson to catch you. We had Gary Sheffield, Conine, D-Train on the mound. Never heard of Barry Bonds.
1:15:20Pat McAfee:If they had Tolley on the mind, I'd be going to every single. Did you see this from last night?
1:15:25AQ Shipley:I did not.
1:15:26Pat McAfee:Boston Red Sox pitcher, 6 '6", 275-ish. Damn. Yeah, fan of the program from my understanding. Has a velo pouch right here. Okay, that's how he describes it. Doesn't matter. This guy will play a little defense. Picks up the little. Come here. You're out. Tar, pa. You're out. See you. The absolute best. Come on in. You're out. All right, see you later. This guy has an electrifying personality. Obviously, the mustache is outrageous, but I got a chance to meet him and his wife, newlyweds. They were coming back from a date night in New York as they were heading into a hotel. He was awesome. Huge. You forget that these guys are gigantic.
1:16:02Pat McAfee:We think about tackles and everything like that, offensive linemen, defense linemen, as we should. These guys are gigantic, and he's one of them, and he's got the feet and the touch. And he gives a little hug. You're out. Go ahead and take a walk. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, from Anatic in Ohio, as we wasted more time there as two people are waiting. Ladies and gentlemen, a Super Bowl champion, a college football national champion, a Ryder Cup winner, ladies and gentlemen, A.J. Hawker. Hawker, how you doing, pal? I'm doing great, A.Q. and T.C. in the first hour. What a show, man. Yeah, it was ridiculous.
1:16:30Pat McAfee:A.Q. Shipley opening up for Tom Cruise is obviously what we expected, and A.Q. certainly expected that as well. I read some stuff about Ohio State. Is everything okay over there in Ohio, or what's going on? What did you read? I think everything's fine. I didn't see anything to do. I didn't see Ryan Day. I didn't see Jeremiah Smith, Peyton Pierce. I didn't see anyone, their names anywhere in anything that you guys have been talking about. Okay, we haven't talked about it yet, but we were just reading. We were thinking you, maybe former president of Ohio, might get a lot of stuff coming out of Ohio.
1:16:56Pat McAfee:About what? I haven't seen it. No, you do your own research. China! What? You do your own research. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen. Ohio State? Yeah. I don't know. They're linking them together. Washington Post just said somebody who's been on a receipt. They will. Yeah. They will get. Look it up. Columbus, China? Well, they're actually saying China State somewhere. What? I don't know about that. Is that what they were saying? I don't know who they are, but I didn't hear it. Okay, I was just reading headlines. Oh, China State? I just want to let – Ohio needs the Buckeyes back on the field ASAP.
1:17:33Pat McAfee:Okay? Now the Buckeyes – Obviously the – Okay, no, there's no way that's what they're doing anymore. There's no way that's what they're doing. That's what that Washington Post was trying to say. Anymore. It was never happening. Don't say anymore. What are we talking about? Come on now. I'm sorry. I was just kind of reading stuff. Bit of a scarlet and red scare. Oh, I didn't know that. I mean, this is what I was. Ohio, we love them. Okay, we certainly do. Their football team, odds on favorite, could go on a damn run here. Number one. Julian Sane, I get a chance to listen to him do a couple of little chitter-chatters.
1:18:05Pat McAfee:I like his mindset. He loves ball. This guy loves the ball. Joining us now, former national champion quarterback from Alabama. He's been waiting for about 10 minutes as we've been doing this, and obviously he has a lot going on. You'll see him all over the college football coverage on ESPN. He also hosts the incredible Always College Football with Greg McElroy. Ladies and gentlemen, Greg McElroy. Yay, Greg! How we doing? Okay, so the shirt is awesome. Who is that? You had me panicking for a second there. When you started teeing up AJ on something that happened with Ohio State, dude, I thought I was about to come on and get absolutely train wrecked.
1:18:44Like I had a minor panic attack. You know, like, what did I miss? What just happened?
1:18:49Pat McAfee:No, don't worry. We'll do a quick little study. Search it. No, don't worry. You can do your own research, Greg. You can do your own research. But anything that happens with Ohio and Ohio State, my algo feeds it to me. Strictly because we're with one of the presidents of Ohio here Monday through Friday, and then the other one every single Saturday, which obviously leads to an incredible college football season. Already started. Obviously, congrats to Bill Belichick and all the teams that have gotten a win in week zero. But week one, obviously, storylines in abundance. We'll talk about Alabama here in a little bit.
1:19:17Pat McAfee:Kalen DeBoer has the most amount of wins for any Alabama coach in its history over its first two seasons. Correct. With 20. Okay. Nick Saban, 19. Yeah. Yeah. So just that conversation. We'll talk about them. But right now, let's obviously talk about what's going on at LSU and what's going on the entire SEC story. You're in the South, one of the faces of the South, talking for the South in this exact moment. How does the South feel about everything that's kind of happening with these injunctions? Because it's not just LSU football, as LSU and Lane Kiffin will tell you. There are some softball players at Ole Miss.
1:19:47Pat McAfee:There are some soccer players at Texas that are also in this injunction that are happening. How does the South feel about what's happening right now and how it's all being covered? Everyone's getting a little bit affected by it, for sure. But I think if we're going to ask most people, like in this part of the country, dude, they're all about the SEC, the SEC, the SEC. we've been told for the last hundred plus some odd years at the sec it's all for one one for all right well since nil got in the world it's no longer like i do we're all together in this deal it's like every man for themselves and we got to go take care of our own backyard right so that's where things have changed and i think this is kind of unified everybody behind the sense like what are we doing like why are there no rules and why is it that no one can hold these schools accountable right so i look it's not lame everyone's blaming lane kiffin here like i don't this is not lane kiffin's fault in my opinion his job he gets paid by lsu to have the best roster humanly possible and if that includes nfl guys that includes nfl guys my issue is the fact that we now have guys that have gone to nfl training camp and they can come back take freshmen's reps that have been working for the last nine months like that to me from a locker room culture like you guys understand this we've been there right like what does that do when you bring a guy in last minute you're 18 you think you're going to play and now all of a sudden this fifth year guy to some take some of your reps like that's got to be a weird dynamic in the locker room don't you think yeah definitely and lane kiffin came out and said the nfl does it all the time there's just a thousand guys cut okay so there's just professional football now that was his angle on it all but i do believe college is different you're still growing hopefully some sort of brotherhood even though people are turning over new rosters every single year we looked at the tail of the tape between two coaches because lane kiffin and dabo couldn't be more polar opposite even though they both come through at least Alabama at some point of their coaching career.
1:21:32Pat McAfee:You look at the amount of ranked wins. Obviously, Dabo has been a head coach for Clemson for a long time. 41. Playoff appearance of seven. The asterisk there next to Lane Kiffin is because he wasn't there. Like, his team was there, but obviously it got pretty loud. He was not allowed to be there. The top 25 ranking from the Associated Press, LSU 11. Clemson first time, I think, forever maybe since Dabo not ranked. And then obviously the last five seasons, one coach 50 and 14, the other 47 and 20. So I think the tale here is like over its history, Clemson has obviously been very, very good. But the evolution of these new rules in which Lane Kiffin certainly takes advantage of and is currently trying to take advantage of to the absolute max, it's just two different polar views of college football.
1:22:16Pat McAfee:Now, Dabo has dabbled a little bit more in the transfer portal over the last year or so. It has not been fantastic. But is there a way Clemson goes in there and wins this game? If Clemson beats L.A. Could you fathom? I mean, because there's a lot of drama and controversy. It's hard to win a football game. And the head coach having to deal with a lot of stuff right now because, you know, in his eyes, it's making his team better for the long haul. He asked his leadership council, how do you frame the questioning? I think people's next question was, how do you frame it to the leadership council? But leadership council said, let's make the team better.
1:22:48Pat McAfee:It's like all Dabo's been trying to do is win football games. why and how you know can dabble go in and win this or is there literally no chance because of how talented this lsu roster is and how good lane kiffin is as a coach in college football well first of all pat i love you so on saturday just as someone that's been down there on the bayou i know you've been down there a million times no one time ending regardless fair enough regardless of how you feel about what might happen in this game don't pick clemson on saturday morning it will it will be chaotic right because that place will go bananas dude so it might be good cinema we'll see but all i'm saying though you're a thousand percent right like last year we think about clemson how we approached it in the regular season in the preseason leading up to it right top 14 in college football everybody's back most returning production they have a home game against lsu like this is the one this is the year boys we got to go in it's proof of concept Dabo's resisted the portal because he wanted to grow within.
1:23:47Well, then they go out, lay an egg, score 10 points, lose the game. But it was all the pressure was on them last year to make a run. This year, it's like, dude, we haven't talked about Clemson at all nationally. It's been all about LSU, all about the roster building, all about Lane Kiffin. Meanwhile, Dabo, self-proclaimed bunch of nobodies at Clemson, still have dudes. So I would not be that surprised if this is a game in the third quarter. at that point all the pressure's on LSU right because they're supposed to be the team meanwhile Clemson has zero expectations no pressure and is playing with house money so I think it's a very dangerous game if you're LSU to go in and kind of overlooking a team that still's got guys on the
1:24:26Pat McAfee:other side that'll play on Sundays everybody's expecting 50 burger 60 burger from LSU and it's like man I hope so and at night I think over your shoulder there you have a picture of Death Valley right there over your right shoulder they talk about that place just being like yeah right which is why it's such a desirable place for coaches to go to. Not only are you going to get the best recruits out of Louisiana every single year because they want to be at LSU and you have the money to be able to pay for your roster, but you talked about me picking Clemson down there. It's like that place was outrageous.
1:24:56Pat McAfee:And you hear Nick Saban talk about it. And he's obviously been everywhere and he's taken everybody's best shot as you have as well. He's like, yeah, it's just a different country. I mean, it's just an absolutely different country. And it's like Lane Kiffin has the spectacle on offense. right they keep dc defense was top what it won in a lot of things in the sec interceptions i think they were one i think third down they were one i think there's like multiple things their defense was already number one in and they keep the dc lane kiffin can go explosive you're talking about baton rouge potentially becoming top environment in all of sport in the entire planet again like it was a few years back and i'm excited for that i am very very excited for that but boy if clemson goes in there.
1:25:40Pat McAfee:Game one of the Lane Kiffin era after everything that has happened and gets a win. Dabo afterwards, can't you see him hands on hips afterwards standing in the middle of that field just like, yeah, nobody really thought we were going to. You can almost. And then that place would actually. Forget me picking against them. That would actually be. But on the flip side, if they do 70, 80 points and this defense does what they did last year and the offense picks right up, it's like, holy hell, what a buzzsaw for the rest of the year. Go ahead, AJ AJ has a question for you about college ball yeah Greg as far as LSU goes we know the expectations from the outside I guess what are you expecting from them this season what's a what's a great season look like for Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers well dude I mean here's the thing with with LSU it's like they might have the biggest variable in the entire country the widest gap because I really could see them winning a national championship with the talent they accumulated with the quarterback they got coming in from Arizona State and Sam Levitt some of the dudes they have on defense like they got guys I mean there's no denying the ceiling that this roster has problem is they also have never played together so how do we know and I mean how often and we've all played on on good teams great teams in some cases like how often is an all-star team super successful when having to run the gauntlet when they were just recently assembled so that's my biggest question about them it's like if they get off to a hot start they're three and oh they got Clemson week one at Ole Miss week three like look out like the rest is history they're gonna a role that they get punched early and they don't respond very well because they don't have that collective buy-in over the course of many years and they could drop off and have a seven and five year i mean that's the gap like i don't think any of us can envision ohio state indiana uh georgia any of those teams going seven to five whereas with lsu everything's so new it's not out of the realm of possibility i don't think it's likely but it could happen meanwhile if all things align go and get the whole thing right so they're probably one of the widest gaps probably the toughest to read because there are so many unknowns and it really starts i think in a big way against a quality opponent this weekend where they're going to get punched they're going to get got a time or two how do they respond that's the big ticket item for them i think a team's mental toughness is obviously something that gets talked about in this new modern transfer every single offseason do you actually care about the team or do you only care about yourself that's why when will hired in that ohio state team ray will lose to oregon early will hard transfers in there gets paid a bunch of money from Kansas State or whatever.
1:28:01Pat McAfee:They lose to Oregon early, something he did. You know, they could have turned on him. They lose to Michigan. It obviously goes into what it is at the end. They could have turned on him. Instead, they had an entire meeting. They locked in and played their best football, win a national championship. It's like they defied, I think, the odds on battling through with how many millions of dollars and expectations and outside slander. It's like that's a difficult thing to keep everybody on the same track. So the fact that LSU has the opportunity to maybe showcase that or avoid that entirely, I'll be eager.
1:28:30Pat McAfee:Now, week three, everybody's talking about Ole Miss. Obviously, Ole Miss, we like Golden. We like Winnedad. We, actually, me publicly, we as a team, we're wondering why Lane would leave. Well, he wants to go win a national championship. It's like, right? You might win one right now, right? Are we looking for a national? We might have one right here, right now. No, LSU is where it's at. And then everybody tells me he had to go because of everything that takes place, and I can't wait to experience that. But Ole Miss back on track to potentially go with the best quarterback maybe in the entire country.
1:29:03Pat McAfee:Go ahead, Tone. Yeah, Greg, we love Winnedad. We love Golding. We love Lacey. They're going to be unbelievable. But no one is talking about their matchup in week one. Everyone's talking about their matchup in week three. But this weekend is the only ranked matchup. It's Louisville and Ole Miss. And obviously, Braum is an unbelievable college football coach. He brings in Lincoln Kainholz, the backup from Ohio State last season, who is an athletic quarterback. Braum, great with quarterbacks. What are your thoughts on that one? And is everyone just penciling Ole Miss to win this one as seven-point favorites?
1:29:34Dude, I'm telling you, Louisville is so dangerous, guys. I mean, think about – look, I hate to bring up bad memories for our guy A.J. here. Like, I'll remember when Braum, way before he was even at Louisville, the dude was at Purdue, right? And he had Rondale Moore. I think it was like 2018. They ended up winning the game like 28 points against the top three ranked Ohio State team. Like, this guy is a giant killer and has been for years. each of the first three years where he's been at Louisville, he's knocked off a AP top 10 team, including going on the road and beating Miami on a Friday night last year.
1:30:04So like, this is a guy that can certainly rally his team around the idea of an upset. Now the problem with Louisville is there have been some moments where they've maybe laid an egg where they shouldn't. They lost big to SMU last year by three plus touchdowns, and that should never have happened. So you can show us, Hey, yeah, you can beat Miami, but lose to SMU by three touchdowns. That doesn't make sense. So I think this is a team that's super dangerous. I also, as far as Pete Golding's concerned, like I think collectively, look, there's big questions at wide receiver. They lost all their guys there.
1:30:32But collectively, you can make a case this might be a better and more well-rounded Ole Miss team than last year. They had star power. They had great potential, good starting 22. But once you got beyond the starting 22, the depth dropped off. So therefore, they gave up a lot of points. It's a big matchup. So I think Pete Golding's addressed that. They have better personnel on defense. They have deeper personnel on defense. and maybe their wide receiver core has not necessarily been as top shelf as it's been in the past. But Trinidad's good enough to take over the game regardless of who's at wide out.
1:31:05We saw them destroy Georgia almost single-handedly in that Sugar Bowl game last year. So he's the real deal. I just think this Ole Miss team might actually be better than last year, which is kind of a crazy thought given how good they were a year ago.
1:31:16Pat McAfee:Yeah, and Trinidad might be best player in college football. I mean, obviously you've got Jeremiah Smith and Malachi Tone. You've got a lot of great athletes and incredible positional players. What I watched Winadad do live from the field pass last year, I was like, damn, I had no idea this guy was like this because they were talking about him wanting to go back to college. So I'm like, oh, he must not be like an NFL quarterback. It's like, nah. I think he's an NFL quarterback as well with the way he can move. His teammates love him. Obviously, his school loves him. I think him and Lacey are both up on the sphere right now as a potential Heisman campaign begins.
1:31:46Pat McAfee:It's like you've got to start off with Braum. In lieu of good luck. They're tough. And then LSU come to town week three. Obviously, that'll be insane. Okay, last question for you here, Greg. We appreciate your time from D-Bud.
1:31:56AQ Shipley:Yeah, Greg, we were talking about Winadad, Darian Mensah, Sam Levitt, Julian Sands, CJ Carr, all these quarterbacks and all these teams that we have those expectations for. Who is that quarterback or that team that we're kind of too low on that you can see making a college playoff push? Man, it's a great call. I mean, there's a pretty clear path for the top seven teams. Like, you kind of know who those top seven teams are. So, I'd have to go a step further. I'll say Oklahoma. Now, Oklahoma last year made the playoff, had a good year, lost in the first round to Alabama. But a lot of Oklahoma you can pinpoint exactly to the moment where they started to fall off, and that was when John Mateer broke his thumb in the third game of the year.
1:32:35And then for really a month, the offense didn't play very well. He really wasn't that accurate, like wasn't really playing the way he needs to play. Plus that new OC, now it's year two. Like I think Oklahoma really at all three levels defensively is legit. I mean, like big-time, big-time playmakers at all three levels. And then it's about their quarterback just playing decisive football. And he made a little – my biggest problem with Matera, it's like he wants to be Manziel with the playmaking ability, but he doesn't need to be because his team's better than what Johnny had when he was at A &M.
1:33:05Does that make sense? Yes, absolutely. Distribute, dude. Like, let the ball go. And if you punt it, by the way, best play in football, right, Pat? Like, punt it. It's a good play with how they defend. And just play field position from time to time. And don't try to force the issue because when he tried last year, he made mistakes like the multi-interception game against Texas. Okay, the guy couldn't hold the football. So, I mean, he broke his thumb.
1:33:28Pat McAfee:The first four weeks, the guy was going to win the high win. So I throw on a football with four fingers. Exactly. Like, it's a hard thing to do. Exactly. So, maybe some other decisions were made because of that. Maybe it's like, I don't think I could potentially make that.
1:33:41AQ Shipley:And putting ain't the great best playing football. It is. No, it's not. It is. It's a ball down the sideline. It's a post. No. Split the cover too. Boring. No. Boring. Boom. Boring. Big six. Boring. Most important play. Most important play in football. There you go. Trestle.
1:33:59Pat McAfee:Yeah, bingo. It's so low on the list. No. No, it is so high. You heard McElroy. He said it's high on the list. This guy's a national champion. Please. He hosts. Always college football with Greg McElroy. I love that. It's right there. It's right in the back wall. You should just say, hi, it's Greg McIlroy. I want to let you know that. Congrats to you. Your name and your voice have become synonymous with college football. In that club, too. Congratulations. What's that? Congrats. You remember there? The Hoopie Match Club? What is that? No. Oh. No, not at all. I didn't even know what shirt I had on, but next time I'm not rocking this one, I can promise you.
1:34:36I'm going straight, black t-shirt like Pat. That's what I'm going to do.
1:34:39Pat McAfee:And AJ and Antone. When you're on TV a lot, you know, you just kind of get bored. Steve Jobs. Yeah. You've got to decide we're just going to wear turtleneck every day so we don't have to make a decision. I've got 50 of these in there. I've got a bunch of other black shirts in there, so we're going to do that. What is a Hoopy match club?
1:34:58AQ Shipley:Very, very exclusive golf club in Georgia.
1:35:00Pat McAfee:Whoa! Like Augusta? Yeah.
1:35:05AQ Shipley:I think Rory might be a member there. I'm not sure. Also, it might be one of those ones they go to in 2028, one that they don't play at tournament at, but it's prestigious. Yeah, Activity 1. Activity 1.
1:35:13Pat McAfee:Have you played at Hoopy? Ian, how'd you do? So it's all about match play. So, like, there's no score. You just got to beat the guy you're playing against. So, yeah, I did go. It was amazing. Best hang ever, dude. A lot of beers deleted that weekend. You beat Saban? A lot of beers deleted. Deleting beers? I don't believe it. Was Blocky there? Was Blocky there? That's a good question. Was Michael Block there? Of course the record. He was not. He was not. You're lucky for that. Could you imagine you see Block on the other side? You just got to hope to God. But it's not Michael, it's his boy. Because this guy is about to run the PGA Tour Championship, and I would like to let us all know in real time here, we have been invited to anyone we want to go to to follow along Blocky.
1:35:56Pat McAfee:When? Well, we'll wait for Ty to become all the way healthy, obviously, and we will take him to the course, and we will certainly enjoy our time. We appreciate Blocky and the PGA Tour Championship for that invite, and I will be one of the ones he's doing this for, you know? Yeah, he'll be telling you. No, and Ty will be telling him, just shut up. you know i'm like no make the noise greg we'll see you on the road somewhere brother we appreciate you see you fellas thank y 'all see you ladies and gentlemen it's greg mackerel yeah great
1:36:23AQ Shipley:a hoopie match club huge fairways huge greens no big deal okay oh you know this place a little bit oh just have you played i've never been there no looking for anybody no you should try to go to grove though okay what's the grove oh that's jordan's down in florida oh yeah i've heard it's Great time. I got my in. Oh, you're in? Oh, no, no. I got my in to play. Greeny? No. Oh, whoa, whoa. We don't need to be public. No, he's a Jordan guy. Yeah, but we don't need him.
1:36:54Pat McAfee:Greeny's got new swing. Greeny's team Jordan? Is he? Yes. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I didn't know that. What? He wasn't when he played. No, no, no. I'm going to say Greeny. No, no. No. Greeny too. Oh, yeah. Greeny is too. Greeny's not. Greeny. I was like, whoa. He's team Gap, actually. No. I think he's Lou Baton. Isn't he? He's Red Bottom. I believe he is full on Red Bottom every day. Look at him, McAfee. Look at him, McAfee. We got a big-time boxing presser coming up, AJ. Are you excited and eager for what we learn from these two guys as we sit just over a little bit over a week away from a World Welterweight Championship battle in T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, AJ?
1:37:35Yeah, I am excited. I'm a bit confused. I want to see how it plays out. I know you're going to be in the middle and they're going to be on either side. Are you just going to be looking back and forth, firing things back to these guys?
1:37:44Pat McAfee:Well, I think I'll also say, do you have a question in the crowd? You know, normal press conference. We will be asking for any questions in the crowd as well, as I will be standing at podium. I might make it look a little bit more podium-like. I think that's probably what we do for the next one of these. Ladies and gentlemen, joining me now are two men that are going to captivate the entire globe. as they fight for the World Welterweight Championship of Boxing. It's a Zufa promotion, but these two lads are known by the entire boxing community. Ladies and gentlemen, one of the men we watched grow up on the Internet.
1:38:27His hands seemingly as fast as a crack of lightning. The power, the same as thunder.
1:38:34Pat McAfee:We watched this guy on the internet for the better part of the last decade take random influencers, put a body pad on them, and then he did them with a left hook and they'd be pissing blood for the next week or so. He's taken on a lad whose father was in the boxing game. Literally since he was just a little child in England, has grown up in the boxing gym, has been learning about a... Since he was just a wee little lad. ladies and gentlemen for the world championship next saturday september 12th at t-mobile arena ryan garcia and connor badd yeah boys i don't know if you saw that connor if you want to learn anything ryan too i've seen you just pound influencers with those hands and i think i've seen you take on the bouncing thing maybe better than anything i've ever seen in my life so boys Thank you for joining us.
1:39:28Pat McAfee:Thank you for your commitment to sport. And thank you for allowing the world to watch you guys' greatness. Ryan, I'll start with you. Obviously, huge fight for you. And we've followed you for a very long time. We know that your power, your speed, and your precision are something you take advantage of. Connor Ben here, I believe, sorry, on this side, I think he can just take abuse this guy. I think he just stands in there and goes to war. For you, what is the mindset going into the fight? And how does that change things for you against somebody that fights like Connor?
1:39:57Ryan Garcia:Well, I mean, the mindset is just to be prepared for anything. You know, I understand this guy, you know, it's not really at my level and can't keep up with really my punches or anything. So, you know, his game plan is going to be quite, you know, simple. He's going to try to rough me up, try to be a little dirty, try to get in there as fast as he can. So just be prepared for anything, you know. So we train very hard and we made sure that, you know, anything he throws at us will be prepared and conditioned to go through.
1:40:26Pat McAfee:Okay, Connor, obviously you hear what Ryan says there. We're going to be hugging. We're going to be getting this thing. We're going to be doing some dirty shots, is his expectation. For you, as a man who's obviously a physical brawling fighter and have been for your entire career, what do you hear whenever he says that? And is that what you expect him to say about your fighting style, just this close to a fight? Listen, when you've had 26, 27 fights, you've heard it all. You know, I've heard I've not been good enough. I've not been this. I've not been that. I continue to prove people wrong. So, you know, if he's overlooking me or thinks I'm going to be a walk in the park, then, you know, I'd be mistaken.
1:41:00You know, the last person who overlooked me got put in hospital for three days. So, you know, upper middleweight. So, you know, I feel extremely strong. I feel powerful. Training's gone well. And I'm excited to claim that world title.
1:41:17Pat McAfee:Connor, what is Ryan Garcia on tape? Do you guys do that? Do you train against a lot of people that are like your fighter? or is it kind of nameless, faceless opponents like some football coaches are like? For you, how are you training for Ryan Garcia? Just doing what I do. Just doing what I do and what I have done for the past 10 years. I've been in this sport for a decade now. So, you know, he's got fast hands. He's a good fighter. You don't become world champion by not being a good fighter. You know, and I'll prepare diligently hard. And I have no doubt in my mind, zero doubt in my mind that I live with that world title on Saturday.
1:41:55Pat McAfee:I love to hear that, obviously. I think you have to have that mentality. Ryan, we've watched you grow up on the internet, I think. I think we've all watched you. And I want to let you know, congrats on getting to a point now where it looks like you were very happy, content, locked in, dialed in. Would you say that? How do you feel heading into this fight, mentally, physically, all of that?
1:42:15Ryan Garcia:I would say that, you know, I'm very sharp right now, sharp mind. Everything has been going perfect. So, you know, we're just carrying the momentum from last fight to this fight. And, you know, we have a responsibility as a champion to make sure that we come in the best shape and, you know, give the fans the best version of me possible. So that's exactly what we did. And we're already ready to go. I wish the fight was literally tomorrow. I'm ready to just get this done. Yeah.
1:42:43Pat McAfee:Connor, how is that? Weigh-ins and all that stuff, making way, doing that. How do you feel just this close to fight first, this far from fight as well? It feels like there's a lot that has to happen. Nah, all the hard work's done now. All the hard work preparation is done now. As Ryan said, I wish the fight was this weekend. You know, I was ready a few weeks ago. You know, so for me, I'm excited to get in there and just do what I believe is written in the stars. You know, as I said, I've been in this game for 10 years, and I'm excited for this one. More than any other fight. I'm more up for this fight than I have been for any other fight.
1:43:16Pat McAfee:We like that. I like to hear that a lot, especially a world championship fight. Connor has a question for you, boy. Yeah, speaking of written in the stars, gentlemen, for kind of both of you, you know, combined you have 34 knockouts together. Is that something that you are studying with that tape film session? Is it something you're visualizing? Is it something that just comes naturally inside the ring during a certain round? When is that kind of felt during a fight, or is it something that you've already seen in your mind before it happened? Ryan, we'll start with you, Ryan.
1:43:46Ryan Garcia:I think the natural process of the fight has to play out. Obviously, you could catch somebody with one shot and lay him out. There's different ways to knock somebody out. You can wear him out. You could catch him with a clean shot, then knock him out. Or you could just catch him with one shot and he could be out. So you kind of just go into the fight and ready for anything. And then you see whatever's playing out. But there's not too much thought into, oh, I got to knock him out. or this is the punch that's going to do it, it usually comes natural.
1:44:16Pat McAfee:Connor, you have 14 knockouts, so this question obviously goes to you as well. Are we planning on knockouts or do they come natural like Ryan Garcia is saying? When I see an opportunity, I'm going to take it. That's without a doubt. If you look at all my fights, I can do 12 rounds at pace. No problem. My work ethic and discipline, it's unmatched. I do 12 rounds, I do 10 rounds, I've fired a year up at middleweight, dropped back down even now to this fight. You know, doing 12 rounds easy. You know, I'm a 15-round fighter. So, you know, if it does go points, which me in my heart don't believe it does.
1:44:51Me to my core, I don't believe it does. That's what I believe. And I prepared hard for a hard fight. But I'm looking for the stoppage. I'm going to, as soon as I see an opportunity in there, I'm going to shoot my shot. And when I shoot, I don't miss.
1:45:10Pat McAfee:Ryan, do you ever do virtual reality boxing?
1:45:14Ryan Garcia:I'm sorry.
1:45:16Pat McAfee:Do you ever do virtual reality boxing?
1:45:20Ryan Garcia:I did that for a YouTube video once.
1:45:22Pat McAfee:Okay. I do that. Am I basically boxing or is it a little different?
1:45:28Ryan Garcia:No. I mean, you should be world champion if you're that good. No, okay.
1:45:31Pat McAfee:But I want to let you know in there, that ugly Joe, fat Joe guy, I'm looking for a knockout every time. I like your guys' patience seemingly in the fight game, which is why you're up for world championships. Tone has a question for you. Yeah, I wanted to talk to you, too, about where the fight is being fought in Las Vegas, Nevada. Obviously, Ryan, you fought there a bunch of times. Are you comfortable being there? Do you feel more comfortable being there and being from the U.S. and drawing on that crowd? And then for Connor, the last three, I believe, have been in Tottenham. You fought at Wembley and at O2.
1:45:58When did you get over here? And how do you feel about the crowd and potentially being not the favorite, which you have been as far as being in Tottenham the last few fights? I'll start with you there, Connor. If you're asking me first, a ring's a ring. It doesn't concern me where it is. You know, a boxing ring's a boxing ring. Like, it's just going to be me and Ryan standing in there. And I wouldn't say I've been the favourite in all my fights. I wouldn't say that I've been, yeah, the favourite to win. Some people have been cheering for my opponents. Does it make any difference? No, they could be Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck sitting ringside.
1:46:36Fully locked in. You're sort of, you're dialed in. and you see the man who's trying to take food off your table. That's all I see. It doesn't matter who's cheering, who's not cheering. If I'm the favorite, if I'm not, it's just me and him in there.
1:46:51Pat McAfee:Ryan, obviously your fights are a spectacle every time. I mean, every single time you fight, it's a spectacle, as it should be. That is good for the show. How do you feel about Vegas being the home of this fight and what you're expecting from T-Mobile Arena next weekend?
1:47:04Ryan Garcia:I mean fighting uh in Vegas is a spot that um that you know I'm so accustomed to I'm used to it it's one of the best places to fight in boxing and it's actually the mecca of boxing all the huge you know fights in the past have happened there or the recent past um and uh yeah I mean it's just gonna be like another day in the office like I'm just gonna beat the shit out of this dude I know we're talking all light but this dude is about to get his ass whooped like i know he's talking a good game the uk thing but he's just not good enough i mean he's getting black eyes and sparring i mean this is sad i mean this guy is uh he's dying out there he's a dead dead man walking look at him this dude looks like he's about to you know pass out right now in the sun this dude looks like handsome squidward a little bit you know this is gonna be bad this ass whooping is going to be bad okay i'm proud of you it's going to get ugly in there connor obviously i think you
1:47:57Pat McAfee:should have a chance to respond here to ryan garcia calling you squidward out here yeah but it's squid like it's handsome squidward different he's like he's like a it's like a child he's like a kid you know he said the same with rolly he said the same with um the other guy he lost to
1:48:13Ryan Garcia:he's it's like you know what i'm thinking about hiring him as my sparring partner this guy might be my sparring partner after this fight. He talks enough for the both of us. You're as good as a sparring partner, my guy. You're going to get this ass hooked, bro. You're not at my level. You are borderline above. You're like an athletic amateur. That's what you are, like a fancy trash can. This is what you are, a fancy trash can. You are like a very fancy trash can, bro. I'm going to take out the trash from September 12th. I'm going to send your ass back to UK with a good check, and hopefully your brain will still be intact.
1:48:46Ryan Garcia:That's all I care about. And, yeah, on you go.
1:48:50Pat McAfee:All right. Well, Connor, Ryan, we can't wait to watch you boys in the ring at T-Mobile Arena next Saturday. We appreciate the hell out of you. Good luck, boys. Thank you for the time. Yeah. Let's get one of these. Let's get one of these, boys. Yeah. There you go. Ryan, Ryan. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right, ladies and gentlemen, Ryan Garcia, Connor Ben. Yeah, boys. I like that. Yeah. I like it at the end. Good back and forth. I like that Ryan decided. I'm done with this. What are we doing here? And then you laugh at the guy, say he knocked him out, and then I ask the stupid virtual reality question.
1:49:23Pat McAfee:But I just want to know for my own sake. That guy's a world champ. Got to do it. I'd like to hear if he likes it or not. AJ, did we miss anything in there you think that you would have maybe hit on if we would have dropped you in middle frame right there? No, it's okay not dropping me in middle frame. I think you guys did a great job asking the right stuff. But it was fun to see Ryan kind of freelance a little bit at the end and let his true feelings be known. A little bit above amateur. A fancy trash can. Yeah. This guy. I'm going to take out the trash. He was pumped when he thought of that. You could tell he was jacked up that he had that one in the chamber.
1:49:51Handsome Squidward.
1:49:52Pat McAfee:This guy looks old. He's falling asleep in the sun. Okay, what else do we got here? Fancy trash can, a little bit above amateur. I like that he did that. I can't wait to watch the fight. Yeah. Ryan Garcia, obviously, be who you can afford to be, we've watched him just kind of everything. For a long time. He's still so young, but he has been around forever. It's like Zion Williamson. We were watching Zion as like a 12-year-old dunking on kids in South Carolina on the internet. and then obviously we followed him his entire career. It's like I was watching Ryan Garcia hit mitts and hit bags, like, and saying, holy hell, I didn't know Youngs could do that for most of his life.
1:50:25Pat McAfee:Now to kind of fulfill everything he had hoped he'd become and his family hoped he'd become in the boxing world, awesome. Because there were some times there where it didn't look like it was going to go that way. It looked like it was going to go the complete opposite. And it's like, oh, no, we saw a crash-out story here as opposed to a success story for somebody who has an immense amount of talent. And then Ben, his dad being in the fight game, it's like, He'll sit in there and actually go to, like, all right, Ryan, you got great hands. I'll eat them all. And then we are here for 12 rounds. Let's see if he can do it again.
1:50:51Pat McAfee:Garcia talking about, hey, let's make this thing ugly. I'm not, like, a super boxing expert, but when they start, just like tennis, when stars, when big names are doing their thing, I want to watch them do their thing. I'm excited for this next Saturday. Yeah, and the timing of boxing and fighting is always great for, like, the East Coast people because this will be right after, you know, Texas, Ohio State next Saturday. this fight will basically be kind of at least near the main event. So it is kind of one of those perfect things. And like you just mentioned, the Garcia story start to finish this week.
1:51:20Connor Benton looks so much like A.J. Hawk that it's really, really hard for me to not think that he's going to be able to outlast him.
1:51:27Pat McAfee:Yeah. How's that head just end up getting? I don't think so. Looking in a mirror. Shovel. Ryan Garcia has 20 knockouts. Yep. Ben has 14. That's a lot of knockouts between the two. It's a lot of power. Congrats to Zufa getting another big one, it feels like. What are the odds? Only three losses between two of them. Connor Benton's currently sitting at plus 275. Yes. Ryan Garcia, minus 370 right there. Okay. But a part of the Ryan Garcia lore is how young he looks, how handsome he looks. You know, people think, oh, this kid, hey, yeah, right. He's an absolute killer. And the Times Square one shouldn't count because that was the worst night of boxing anyone's ever seen in there.
1:52:07Pat McAfee:I was there for that. You got to give it to Roley Romero. Great performance out of Roley. I think the firefighter had the best performance out of everybody. Yeah, sure. Was that the least amount of punches thrown in an entire night of boxing? Everybody gets guaranteed purses. Don't worry about it. We're just kind of doing a spec to showcase boxing. All right, you said everybody's getting paid? Yep. All right, sweet. Have some fun. All right, man. What are you up to after this? Man, this is crazy. We're kind of in Times Square. I like the dead center of it. but yeah all right you were doing color commentary weren't you yeah i was sweet sign i was trying to get into it too i was really going to dive into it i'm like all right i'm gonna learn stuff there's a lot of names here i'm gonna do this entire thing it's time square it's a big event i'm excited to do this i got in there i was like whoa what's going on palm high school cafeteria we had four to five of these better than this every single day at lunch i mean i don't know what's going on here then they started telling me you can't get guaranteed purses before the fight i mean it's They started talking about the entire fight game.
1:53:07Pat McAfee:And then now it's kind of changed what the fight game is going to become. You know, because Zufa's getting involved. And obviously that's causing rippling effects across there. But I think they are trying to get boxing to become, you know, a unified operation, hopefully. Because it's a great sport, man. Yeah. It's a lot of fun. Anytime you have a gladiator-like competition or sport, I think it is a beautiful thing. I can't wait to watch those two. We head to digital time now. we will turn on the music done. I don't hear it. Here we go. Bill's on the ones and T's. All right. We'll try to be better tomorrow.
1:53:47Pat McAfee:I doubt it's going to happen, though. Be your friend, tell your friend something nice. My change of life. Goodbye. And the thing was off. Two seconds. Hey, Bailey. There you go, Bill. We didn't even know Bill snuck back there. Let's go, go. That clock's off. To be clear, of course. Of course. Of course, I like that. There has been some outages, so there is a chance that it is off. Yeah, this generator game is kind of an interesting little game here. Kind of a funny little thing. They've been cutting your power, like, consistently now? I don't know who's been doing what. Cutting it ourselves, unfortunately.
1:54:21Pat McAfee:Yeah, just did a couple generator conversations. You know, I feel like I know everything about them. You want a natural gas one? You want a diesel one? You got a 60? You got an 80? You got 100. But what's the pull from it? How much is the pull supposed to be? Because if you're not pulling enough and it's too big and you have too much power, then sensors will obviously turn the generator off without you even knowing. So you need the proper size generator because if you don't have the proper size, then the generator is kind of working against you, you know, because it doesn't think anything's happening.
1:54:45Pat McAfee:It actually thinks it's leaking, so it shuts itself down a little bit. So we need to get the proper size generator, okay? So we're going to drop you down. The proper size generator should be perfect there. It should be operating at full efficiency. You know, this should be no problem at all. Obviously get smaller generator and it's not enough power so we lose power so that okay don't have enough power So obviously we need no generator. Okay, let's bring you another general goes what we'll go size up generator We'll go size up generator here now. This one should be good buying actually not not good at all Need to go back to the original one those potentially not getting enough pool Okay, because the the three prong insert of the power the middle one is actually getting way too much So this one's setting sensor off saying it's pulling too much and then it's multiplying it by three because it's three prongs But the middle one is just doing too much So we got to dial that one down a little bit to properly spread it out through the three.
1:55:28Pat McAfee:We need 33, 33, 33, as opposed to 82. Okay? And then nine and nine. Okay? That's not what we need around here. Three pulling is one. Bingo. But one going too much jacks off the generator. Do your job. Can't be jacking off the generator. Do your job. Don't worry about everyone else's job. If you need to know about fucking vessels, I got some vessel conversation we can have, too, about transatlantic and transpacific vessels trying to make their way over here to the United States of America with the straighter her moves going on open or what well you talk about straighter who move yeah I'll tell you what I've had to get a vessel that has to go around there you know so instead of a roll roll vessel which roll on roll off vessel I've just gotten a cargo uh vessel that that's able to go around there but from my understanding with what we've been trying to do with a couple things we need to get shipped over here from other side of the globe that's I don't know if it was true or not, but I saw on the internet, I saw satellite imagery that we may have trenched our own canal.
1:56:22Is that real?
1:56:23Pat McAfee:I saw that. I'll tell you what, if you can get through there, I think that's a big deal, just from my understanding. But Roro vessel, that thing takes a long time. I've got to roll these things off. I wonder if Gigi Hawk knows anything. He might. I didn't even think about that. Maybe he is to blame. Shit. That's a pretty big article there, H. I don't love it, bro. Well, I don't love for what's going on, especially because I know what that football team's all about. Ain't coming. Whatever happens is for the good of the franchise, the good of the program, and the school. Okay. Thank you for that, AJ.
1:56:57Pat McAfee:High State Michigan is no longer going to be the big game. It's going to be the Cold War. I think you guys are kind of making a bigger deal than it is. Washington Bones? I didn't see it really pop up a whole lot. I believe Michigan had some issues with that as well. I think your algorithm – yes, they certainly did. We actually heard about who was the people that potentially turned them in there. They're always, aren't they? Uh-huh. We got to keep our eyes. They're an active bunch. Yeah, we got to keep our eyes peeled. Warren never sleeps. This is going in. 24-7. If this goes in. Okay. No more war.
1:57:26No more war? If it doesn't go in, Michigan, Ohio State's playing China. That's a lot of pressure. No more war? Yeah.
1:57:33AQ Shipley:Wow. Come on, man. Which anthem are you guys playing first at home games, AJ?
1:57:40Pat McAfee:When we're raising that flag. You know better. They do the flag. they come waiting. It's a great presentation of the big American flag that they put up there. And it's super American. I don't know if they know what's going on. Somebody's going to have to tell them what's going on down there. This goes in. No more war. Alright. Here we go. Big throw. Here you go. A lot of people counting on this. Just chuck it. Come on, bro. Both ways. There's a lot of people there. For our country or any country? Just in general. Yeah. Okay. Intergalactic as well. No more war. Yeah, intergalactic. I don't know if I got that.
1:58:13Pat McAfee:This is just our universe. This is a big ball. This is a big ball. I don't know if I've ever had a bigger ball than this one right here. You got this. All right.
1:58:25Oh! A bomb just went off in the Middle East. Oh my God. It's halfway down, son of a bitch.
1:58:37Pat McAfee:I thought it was in. The damage has been done, AJ. I guess it's going to continue. I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't need live updates on what just happened. It just turned from a football to a nuclear football. No. Oh, no. Country you never heard of doesn't exist anymore. I don't like it, and I'm done with it, and I'm sorry. And we'll try again after this break. Okay.
1:59:04AQ Shipley:Yeah, we'll just probably never try that one again. Let's just hope we're still here. Oh, you like war? No, it's just, you know. I'm trying to let it. It's inevitable. I hate it. I am inevitable. I didn't see Jordan intercepts missiles. Michael? The country of Jordan actually just got deleted. No, Don. That did not happen. We would like world peace.
1:59:23Pat McAfee:That's why I threw the fucking bull. Okay, let's make sure that when the story's told about that football not going into that hoop right over there and potentially ending all wars. We'll get there one day. I was hoping it was going in. Like, that's what I was hoping for. Why do you think there always has been war since the dawn of time? Humans, I think, mostly. Testosterone. Yeah, that as well. I think humans just have the capability to create friction, you know? Male-female relations. also.
1:59:51AQ Shipley:Oh, yeah. The oldest Helen of Troy wars. Undefeated.
1:59:54Pat McAfee:Also, I believe there's some religious aspects to it about, you know, what the other side believes versus what we believe in. Land. Yeah, improper border drawings. AJ Zoo. I heard that. If Canada wants to get some, they can get some. Just get to a break. They don't. I think Ontario was an okay name. Just because Holmes, that's how I remembered it.
2:00:19AQ Shipley:Yeah.
2:00:19Pat McAfee:Nah, fuck that. All right.
2:00:22AQ Shipley:I saw another lake, too, and another name. Possibly coming up. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe you have to follow up and see if they don't change the name. What is it now, Hamez or Hames? Nah, I won't go further. I know what Ohio would name the lake now. Or Lake Beijing or something.
2:00:42Pat McAfee:Music's not playing. This thing has been running for two years. I mean, it's obviously built. Don't listen to whatever they're telling you. He's obviously fucking it. No, I'm saying that's not the normal track. Oh, a new track. Okay, Bill. I like that. That was awesome. This thing's been running for two years straight. It's not fucking working. I don't know. Hey, Tim Cook. Tim Cook, way to go. Good run. I see he's out. He's stepping down, right? 1 ,432 % up or something. since when he got it pretty good run how much did he make not like money wise like products that oh you're saying like this is a saving divorce he gave us that code so you know when you just
2:01:27AQ Shipley:enter something that code is get text to you and it just pops up you don't have to actually go that was oh that was tim apple that was that's pretty okay so just just with that i think air
2:01:37Pat McAfee:pods a lot i think he there's a lot of that uh obviously being able to play apps while still surfing phone. I think that's a huge thing. You can never figure out Apple Maps, though. Maybe the next guy could do that. Apple Maps is great. Airplay, CarPlay. Coming from you guys who don't realize that Apple Maps is Google Maps. To be clear, Apple Maps has led me to a couple goat trails a couple of different times in cities that are very confusing. You guys probably use Apple Weather too. But I do use Apple Weather, yes, and it told me it actually feels like without me telling it. You get an Android tone if you're so against it all.
2:02:10Pat McAfee:Amen. I mean, I love the iPhone, but But, I mean, there's just better products out there. You don't use any of the products. Google Maps sucked. I use the actual product. Which map do you use? Waze? No, Google Maps. Waze? I like Waze. Waze is good. Google Maps. Google Maps. Google Maps. No way on your phone. Actually the same thing. They own each other. Apple Maps gives you a heads up now, too. I just print out MapQuest directions next time, Tony. Enroll the Maps. Listen, if you want to keep living an inferior life, you can do that, AJ. That's your prerogative, okay? Apple Maps, when you get a text message and there's an address, You just hit it, and then your Apple Maps just pops up like a blue text.
2:02:45It's very convenient. Apple Maps is the worst. The worst? Oh, excuse me. Google Maps. Thank you. Thank you. I use Apple Maps every day. Speaking of, Apple Maps actually knew that the roads were closed the day they closed. See, that's the type of heads up that.
2:03:01Pat McAfee:Google Maps knew it three days before it happened. I doubt it because I don't think anybody knew it. Ask Bill Gates. Google Maps? He's not Google Maps. Who's Google? Sergey. He was Microsoft. He's got his hands on over. You would know, wouldn't you, communist doc? Jeez. We're not saying it, by the way. We're not the ones. Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998. They were PhD students at Stanford. See, that's the thing. I represent Lux boys. Unlike you guys, Stanford different. I'll tell you what, I'm a Steve Jobs guy now. Tim Cook certainly took the baton there and did pretty well.
2:03:35Pat McAfee:War Eagle. Certainly hope they're good at football again. It'd be fun to get down there. It feels like their fan base would be one to be fun to the team. Joel Esch is the man, yeah. Yeah, it feels like they're cooking down there, too. Preseason, they've won. You know, like band comes in a team meeting, vibes seemingly very high. I think Charles Barkley, Riley Green, many other Auburn. Riley Green's there? I think he's an Auburn fan, and I believe he is a War Eagle fan. So I believe they're raising money, too, and I hope I – What the hell is that, Kyle? I think they're trying their best. I just thought Riley Green was a Jack State guy, so if he's going to Auburn – Well, he is a Jack State guy because he lives there, played there, but he is in Alabama, you know, so it's one or the other.
2:04:15Pat McAfee:And I guess he's an Auburn guy. That's bold. I respect that. Now, his grandpa is Alabama fan because he says, watching Alabama whoop up on Tennessee or whatever in the song, and then he says, I'm not even an Alabama fan. He said, so what school is he supposed to do? And then West Virginia was whooping up on Tennessee at the particular concert I want to. Wow. I think he's an Auburn guy. I think. See, I don't know if that helps this case for me because if his paw, his pee-paw, was Bama, then why did he decide to go off? Just to stick it to his pee-paw? I think he's got a concert coming up. That's a hmm.
2:04:51Pat McAfee:I think he's got a concert coming up in Auburn, Alabama, on November 28th. So I think he is a part of the – Yeah, what that date is. What's that? That's right around Thanksgiving, which would be the Iron Bowl. That's awesome. Good idea. Yeah, Riley Green, good idea, pal. All right, let's get to a break. On the other side, we've got to wrap up all the sports headlines. Obviously, there's more that has happened at the U.S. Open because it's taking place right now. Bruce will get to the bottom of all of it. Bruce will get to the bottom of it. I can't wait for Bruce's tennis update in the first hour.
2:05:19It was great.
2:05:20Pat McAfee:Phenomenal stuff. I mean, obviously. Is Bruce a big tennis guy? Yeah. Any of those sports? The country club, coastal elitist type stuff? Bingo. And just, I mean, boxing and horse racing, I want to say, are the country club elitist type sports. They're just old and kind of less popular than they once were. Horse racing? Gambling.
2:05:41Churchill Downs is pretty hoity-toity, but you ever go to Aqueduct Park in the dead of winter and hang out with Tony, Tony, and Tony all day? Roman Anthony's grandfather?
2:05:52Pat McAfee:I didn't know Tony, Tony, Tony was out there. Just 16 Tonys all around you, all wearing white beaters, trying to find a winner. In the dead of winter? That's what it's all about. These guys run hot. I respect him. All right. I respect all the communities in which Bruce is a part of. Owned the horse with Grandma. Yep. Shot in the head. Boxed in him. Killed it. What? Max player. Lots of couple races. They chopped it up.
2:06:19AQ Shipley:No, they didn't. I saw your community in my timeline, too. Oh. Little League football coaches.
2:06:25Pat McAfee:Pittsburgh.
2:06:26AQ Shipley:Oh, boy. Yeah, Pittsburgh showed up.
2:06:28Pat McAfee:Pittsburgh showed up. That's a football town. Listen, the football town is what they say. I thought it was potentially tied to the coach tripping the kid that was on the way to score a touchdown in the video we saw this weekend. But I don't think it was the same kid. That was bad. I think it was just a couple coaches not liking the decisions made on the other sideline. That's what I think was happening. And you're going to get that in Pop Warner football every once in a while. There was shorter guy going forehead to bigger, taller, larger, fatter guy. That was something coming in right down the pipe there, Bill.
2:06:59Pat McAfee:This fucking thing won't work back here. No, that's happening. Big pop. Yeah. I don't know who that was. I don't know what any of this shit does. But there was. Did you see that video, AJ? A Pittsburgh pop owner getting after it. Amazing. There was a little coach, obviously. Bill Cowher's hometown. Was that where it was, Kraft? No way. I don't believe it. Well, the original tweet I saw said, Bill Cowher's hometown. Let's get to a break. On the other side, we'll talk about that and more. Obviously, sports are the greatest. We're lucky to cover it. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life.
2:07:29Pat McAfee:Take five. Five.

2:08:39Pat McAfee:football jeez we haven't hit it one time that was way early you were late we're all over the place i don't know what was going on there this has been bad toxic tables that's aj hawk toxic tables here boss connor tone digs out in this seat is fucked up you yeah see he knows what happens. He knows what he did. You know what you did.
2:08:57AQ Shipley:We don't point fingers over here. Thank you. We all fucked up. Yeah, we, right here, we do point fingers.
2:09:03Pat McAfee:One is 11, 11 is one. I want to let you know, it did seem like there was some miscommunication across the board with every member of the team. I'll do my push-ups later. We fucked up, coach. That's one half of the hammer. Die. Cowboy seat. There is Jay Butler. And we certainly have pumped about that. There's some news that we need to talk about. George Kittle was seen at practice yesterday. Nice. Congratulations to George. Here you go, George O. And the San Francisco 49ers. Kittle, it seemed like it was a walkthrough. There was no pads. There was nothing like that. But there was obviously clips of him out on the field.
2:09:36Pat McAfee:He told us yesterday that you're probably going to see him in team reps happening today before they take off to head to Australia. Yes, the NFL season already has one of its teams heading to the location of where their regular season starts, which is Australia. They'll be there for a week. I love that Kittle's back on time, and he's a huge asset to that offense. Now, for the Los Angeles Rams, will Miles Garrett be playing now is the question mark. Aaron Donald obviously signs back with the Rams. Stars seemingly out, but who in Australia to start the entire season, AJ? Yeah, so as far as George Kittle goes, if he's healthy, why wouldn't he play?
2:10:09Like, I understand there's a long flight, there's all this, but if he feels good enough to go, what's one extra week going to do? So I hope he's on the field to come, you know, a week from whatever it is.
2:10:18Pat McAfee:Yeah, we certainly hope the same, and I think it was his goal, and he's a machine. You know, he is an absolute machine. No brace. His facility has no brace. He looks like he's very comfortable. GM John Lynch, this is from Matt Maioco, who doesn't have a blue checkmark. I like it, man. GM John Lynch said on KNBR that George Kittle has absolutely crushed all of the objective measures coming off mid-January surgery to repair a torn Achilles. He comes from the Dr. Elitrash Achilles factory, if you do recall. And we got good news last week or the week before from Dr. Elitrash. So George Kittle seemingly back in a big way.
2:10:52Pat McAfee:Congrats to him. Recovery's not easy. Rehab's not easy. Going through an injury is not easy. You can feel isolated. You can feel alone. You can kind of get in your own head a little bit. Here's Malik Neighbors talking about the highlights that we've seen of him coming out of practice recently as he's been upgraded to seemingly active for the New York Giants. We're watching these clips, him cutting, jumping, running, catching, looking unbelievable. Maybe Malik Neighbors is 100 % back. Here's him talking about it yesterday after Jordan Rinald and asked him if the Super Bowl was tomorrow. Would you play in it?
2:11:23Ryan Garcia:Outside of you, you know, I might look like I'm 100 percent. I make I make everything look well. I mean, you know, sometimes I run routes and I go look on the Internet and I'm like, dang, I was moving kind of crazy. Well, you know, when you're in your body and you're in it, you know, you still have some things that you still got to work on as a football player that you got to be like, you know, I'm not I don't feel right doing this cut. I don't feel right. I haven't been hit. I haven't seen this. So there's certain things that you just got to, as a forward player, you got to mentally prepare that before you go into a game.
2:11:52Ryan Garcia:And then, you know, everybody's just seeing you. So if you make a mistake, it's all broadcast. So nobody really knows. So it's like I want to be able to come out there and make no mistakes and just be able to fly around and do what I do. So I got still, you know, I'm getting there for sure.
2:12:06Pat McAfee:I got to be in my body, which is nowhere near as athletic as Malik Dabr's body. But I do have a friend who's super-duper athletic. But what the hell was he saying there? Because it looks like he looks really good. What is he saying from his point of view?
2:12:18AQ Shipley:Yeah, like you said, from the outside looking in, it's going to look great. But it's that mental hurdle, that final mental hurdle, because we always talk about you can do the workouts, you can run the routes, you can do everything to simulate football. But until you're actually playing football, that's the difference. So for a wide receiver, I mean, he's blocking, obviously catching the football. But even right here, you're going to go to the ground at some point. If he catches 90 balls, you know, 75 of them he'll be tackled on at the end of the play at least. So that physical part and just, I mean, feeling it 100%.
2:12:46AQ Shipley:You never really can really cross that hurdle until you actually do it. Yeah, you know it was the coast. Until you actually do it in a real game. In practice, nobody's touching number one. You're not putting them out there in preseason. So it's going to be out there when the real bullets are firing. And those people across from you, they don't care about your health. They're trying to get you on the ground by any means necessary. So it's that mental hurdle, and we talk about it all the time. When you're rehabbing, you know, for fans on the outside, it's just, hey, it's four to six weeks, it's six to eight months, it's whatever it is.
2:13:13AQ Shipley:But for that player, like that's every day, that's every hour and you're used to being this, you know, somewhat superhuman. And now you're sitting there, you're on the shelf. So, you know, coaches, people start looking at you different when you're walking through the hallways, you know, that support system at home is very, very important. The things that you're dealing with in your personal life, you don't have that same escape as you used to have when you hit that football field and nothing else matters. So it's a lot of things going on. So I'll be happy to just see Malik neighbors back on that football field.
2:13:41AQ Shipley:I'm sure anybody associated with Giants Nation feels the same.
2:13:44Pat McAfee:And remember, he had to get a follow-up procedure to clean off some scar tissue because he had some stiffness and everything like that. Obviously, it's not abnormal for that surgery to happen, but for somebody as athletic as Malik Nabors, people being like, well, he's nowhere near smooth or fluid right now. That's bad news. He heard that as well. He had to sign back up for another recovery and for another rehab after the second procedure, even if it's just scar tissue, which is the most painful part of it all. I appreciate him being as transparent as he is, but he looks like he's all the way back, AJ.
2:14:10Pat McAfee:That's what I'm seeing from Malik neighbors. I can't wait to watch it. Yeah, watching him run routes, it's fun to watch how quick this guy can get in and out of breaks and how he can move. But I'm sure, I do appreciate how honest he is, but it's true. You know how many weird positions in your body gets contorted through the course of a game, whether you're blocking somebody, like D-Butt said, you're going to the ground. There's just so many different angles that you're getting hit from and you're carrying guys' weight. It's a different thing, but I think he's going to be fine. Has he played against anybody other than the Indianapolis Colts?
2:14:39Pat McAfee:He had 171 at two touchdowns against Colts. So, yeah. Yeah, I'm seeing a lot. Let's keep to the practice highlights. That's what we're talking about right now anyways. We don't need to see him running wild against the Indianapolis Colts. It's the dawning of a new day here in Indianapolis. And hopefully for Malik neighbors, we get a trip back in time to what he was. Maybe even better, stronger, with a different perspective. Shout to him working his way seemingly all the way back. Let's talk about the Detroit Lions in the back end. D-butt, two safeties gone already. Kirby Joseph, Brian Branch, four weeks at least out for the Detroit Lions.
2:15:10Pat McAfee:Last year, the story of the Detroit Lions was how injured they were. They were just super-duper hurt. The year before that, it feels like super-duper hurt. It feels like the Lions get injured a lot. Now they're starting the season this way with two very key components of their defensive back. Can you tell me about this Lions defense without these guys? And what is Shepard supposed to do if you don't have any guys that can play football?
2:15:29AQ Shipley:I mean, you definitely got to adjust, but you need talent. You know, Coach, you can be as great as a coach as you want to be If you don't have the guys, it doesn't really matter. Those guys up there on that graphic. Healthy, probably the best safety duo in the National Football League. Kirby Joseph, one of the best deep ball safeties in the league. And then Brian Branch is one of those safeties that can do anything. He can play against the run. He can play man coverage on running backs, tight ends, wide receivers. And he's a communicator. He can blitz as well. So not having those guys on the field are a huge, huge detriment to that defense, especially not having top-flag corners on the outside either.
2:16:03AQ Shipley:They do have, I think, a pretty solid pass rush, but you need the guys in the back end. You need all 11. So these are two huge missing pieces. I believe the starters are Maddox, who used to be a corner, and Chuck Clark, who's played a ton of balls. So he's going to have people lined up and be in the right places. And they have somewhat of a favorable schedule, so hopefully these guys can get healthy sooner than later because, like I said, when they're healthy and they're actually on the field, these are two superstars.
2:16:29Pat McAfee:Can't wait for the Detroit Lions to make it back to the playoffs. Playoffs. Here we go. Here we go, Lions. Is it a playoff victory? Is that what we're hoping for again, or is it Super Bowl or bust for the Detroit Lions fans? Yeah, from here on out in my lifetime, it'll be 12-5 in a Super Bowl win, 10-6, 10-7, and a playoff win is dead because they've accomplished that. So here's something weird, though. So Kirby Joseph has that rogue knee injury. I don't know what's going on with him. I don't expect him to play maybe the whole season, maybe ever again because it's been really weird. Now let me get to Brian Branch, though.
2:17:00Brian Branch tore his Achilles three days before Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones is obviously playing. And then I just see that George Kittle news. His was mid-January when he got surgery. And I'm kind of sitting here wondering, like, why isn't Brian Branch playing yet? Maybe he's not all the way there yet. Also defensive back, different position. But obviously, if you look at this schedule, those first four games, we have to go 3-1 here. If we can go 3-1 and then get Brian Branch back, I'm okay with this. But that's a little concerning on that end.
2:17:31Pat McAfee:let's pivot away from Poo Poo Lions. That sounds bad that I said that. You didn't deserve it. I like the Lions. Yeah, I know. I like the Lions. September don't fucking matter. Don't worry. NFC North is tough. NFC North is going to be tough, but maybe the Lions are all the way back. We believe in MCDC, right? Yes, sir. I believe in Jared Goff, right, if you can protect them? A thousand percent. Okay, so we still believe in the Lions. Losing your start and safeties to start the season is definitely not fun. I mean, sir.
2:17:56AQ Shipley:Those weapons on offense. Oh, yeah. They can protect. the wide receiver duo. You got Jameer Gibbs, who's number one overall fantasy pick, most likely Laporta, if he's healthy. Fantasy? Man, I like it. Where's that going from? It's fantasy season, huh? I got a big draft tomorrow. Huge draft tomorrow. Is this your first time doing fantasy? This is going to be my first time taking a series. Really? Do we have a huge draft tomorrow? Yeah, we have a huge office draft tomorrow. 17-team league. Never been done before by anyone in the history of Paul.
2:18:26Pat McAfee:Yeah, what is the normal amount of teams? 10, 12, 14 if you're a fucking asshole. So talent's really spreading thin here. Yeah. Yeah, for Thunderdome Fantasy. It's going to be tough. Might just text AQ and tell him, kick rocks, buddy. Sorry. We're going to do 16. How about this? I won't do a team either. You already fucking backed out. What? I was never in. Which really fucking pits some people off. Right now that I was never in because I knew you guys had too many teams. You took us from 18 to 17. No, I knew you guys had too many teams. It's not good for the league. It's not good for fantasy football as a whole.
2:18:55I can drop out if you need me to. AJ, that's a legend.
2:18:57Pat McAfee:Thank you for doing that. These guys see these quarters. Okay, boys, this is what losing fantasy football looks like just so everyone can take this in. Chuck backed out. No, I think the loser of fantasy football looks like the person that has to do the thing after they lose fantasy football. We don't do that around here. Is there a zany punishment? No, we're not doing it. We need a zany punishment. We're not doing any of that shit. I think you guys need to wear some sort of sign that says something in some public place. You guys, zany punishment is for a year. everyone tells you how much you suck and don't know ball for an entire year.
2:19:28That's your zany. Because you lost to fantasy football league? I like that.
2:19:32AQ Shipley:So what's the sweet spot for teams? I mean, look, in 17 is kind of who fucking knows. 17 is wow.
2:19:39Pat McAfee:Yeah, that's why I'm helping. I'm trying to help out. You guys call me losers and stuff. I'm just letting you know that there's no way I was going to pay attention to that. If we did 18, we could do a guillotine league. That's pretty sweet. What's that? That's where every single week, well, you have a team, and every week the lowest person that scores the least amount of points gets eliminated. I'm in. And then you go boom, boom. I'm in now. See, that shit fucking sucks, too. I'm in now. And you're just trying to lose week one, so then you fucking participated and then you're still in it. I'm in this one.
2:20:05We're doing a normal fucking 17-team league. Can we do a survivor fantasy?
2:20:10Pat McAfee:We can do a survivor pool. That'd be fun. I'd do that around here. No, this sounded really cool. Guillotine. No, that's some dumb, stupid gimmick they do up in Michigan that no one fucking does, and it's stupid. No, because we can make a graphic. Like, you know, who's up, man? Yeah, we should do that with the Guillotine League. That's fun. The survivor pool. That's super fun. Yeah, that's what the Guillotine – that's what it will be. No, Guillotine League is a stupid fucking thing. It's just picking a winner? It's just you pick one team. You can only pick a team once the entire year. So, like, you can't pick the Rams every week.
2:20:36But you can pick them week one. And if they win, then you move on to week two. Gotcha.
2:20:41Pat McAfee:Right? A fantasy Guillotine League is a football contest where the low-scoring team is eliminated every single week until there's only one surviving team. I think that's awesome. Don't read. It's a blast. This shit sucks. You're just trying to do it so you can pick all the stupid fucking worst players and then you can say you participated after your team scores 10 points in week one. No, I want to win. Survivor pool we should think about doing. Talk Amal has also entered two teams in our fantasy league. Oh, so we don't have 17? No. So it's 16 teams. No, it sounds like it's 15 because AJ's out too, right?
2:21:11That'd be great news. Wait, AJ, you're out? Maybe Talk's out for doing that. We'll wait to drop out if needed, if there's too much. Hey, Joe, what the hell?
2:21:20Pat McAfee:Sometimes the adults in the room have to say, listen, it's not good for a league for me to do this, so I'm going to drop out. I think the losers should have to teach Mitt and talk algebra, and they have to get one equation right by the end of the day. Okay, yeah. No, there's no time limit on that. Okay. I think you present a question or equation. Sure. Balance the equation. They've got to get this right. Them. Only them. No phone, no calculator, no nothing. That's not bad. That might be a 72-hour. That might be a three sleep. Maybe. I'll teach you algebra. Fuck you. I will say talk. ACT guy. Talks unbelievable at fantasy football.
2:21:59It drives me fucking nuts. I can see that.
2:22:02AQ Shipley:I would think he's unbelievable. Because he's on nothing. I'm not going to say that. Because he's on the piss again, lad.
2:22:10Pat McAfee:It could have been any way that could have went. There's like five different answers that we all had in our head as soon as you started that sentence. All right, let's get the hell out of here, shall we? We're back tomorrow. Very lucky and thankful to do this for a living. I mean, we're so close to full throttle football. A week from tomorrow. Tomorrow, what, during the show? We got a week. Pretty fucking cool.
2:22:27AQ Shipley:It is pretty fucking cool. A fucking draft tomorrow. Let alone game day this weekend. Big draft. All right. Big draft. Yeah, we do. I wish I could have asked Shefty about his fucking cheat sheet yesterday. Call him. Call Shefty. Shefty sucks at fantasy football. Does he? He's never won. He's never won. Who's good?
2:22:44Pat McAfee:He's always in it, though. Yeah, who's good? Vanderfield Yates is a pretty good player. Yeah, the greatest player in the competition. Is he admittable? Matthew Berry. Matthew Berry. He's actually okay. What? Well, we actually had him on. He's the one who created fantasy football. And I was thinking about it, much like you're doing right now. I see the whole I'm in on fantasy football. Oh, yeah. All the. I like what you're doing. I really respect it. I've been there before a couple times. Me too. And the first time when I was really trying to do it. Exactly. So you understand what I'm about to say.
2:23:13Pat McAfee:So we had Matthew Berry on, the guy created fantasy football, basically. From my understanding. Yeah, he did. This guy created fantasy. Mr. Roto. So he comes on the show, and I go, so who should I draft? Tone cuts him off. You don't draft that. I think you need to draft him. I'm like, Tone, listen, I understand you like fantasy football. We've got a fucking creator right now on here. Barry couldn't spit it out. And then Tone said, let's just see how the season goes. And I believe the lads did kind of beat Matthew Barry. So I think we do have some fantasy football. I think Tone and Connor really love it.
2:23:44Pat McAfee:And it sounds like talk as well is all in on it. Mitt, I'd assume, will be a dialed-in fantasy footballer somehow, some way. So I think what you guys are getting into in the guillotine league, the guys who really like it, they don't want to get maybe an early exit because their guys don't show up. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about people not fucking trying on purposely losing every single week to get out of the league. I'm worried about you week one, him week two, some other fucking dickhead in here who forgets to set their lineup week three. I'm worried about that. I'm going to have the Colts.
2:24:15Pat McAfee:Okay, so just know that if the Colts have a good first week, we're going to survive. If they have a bad first week, I'm gone. They got the Ravens at home, so. Bingo. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Yeah, you start looking at that Colts schedule. You start looking around like, oh, fuck. What do you mean? Again.
2:24:33AQ Shipley:You guys are great fans. I'm just glad you got the Seahawks out there.
2:24:37Pat McAfee:Out west. I do like the NFC Seahawks. Wednesday, September 9th, 8.20 p.m. Patriots Seahawks Seahawks favored by three and a half a rematch at a Super Bowl I like the fireworks because this thing's alive McDonald Vrabel 2.0 Donald Drake May over under 44 and a half can't wait we are so close to the NFL season kicking off tone digs yeah we are I mean this is just absolutely beautiful uh you were you were busting out of your seat you said is that I was I was trying to look and see who was on the graphic, to be honest. Just unbelievable. Did you see anything that it really – because you almost jumped out of your seat to kind of look at it.
2:25:21Pat McAfee:And also, remember, there's a TV right above your head right there. Glare at this angle. Can't even see it. Oh, so Ty with no real good vision can't see anything from that particular seat. No, no. He only survives when it's that situation. Okay, when it goes on the back. Amazing. But, no, I'm excited to see what kind of adjustments are made because, honestly, the Seahawks kind of had their way in this one. Yes, Will Campbell was hurt. The Patriots O-line was all sorts of banged up going against one of the best D-lines in the entire NFL. I'm excited to see the new Seahawks looking secondary. They did lose some pieces out of there.
2:25:51That's kind of the one question mark I have for the Seahawks team moving into this future.
2:25:55Pat McAfee:Patriots add A.J. Brown, obviously. Romeo Dillon. This should be a little bit different for Josh McDaniels, who now has a great relationship with Drake May. Not that he didn't at the beginning, but after you go through a season, especially a Super Bowl losing season, which is Heartbreak City because you made it all the way to the end. will we ever get here again who knows obviously i've had an incredible opportunity to be in a locker room after a super bowl loss and i call it an incredible opportunity because we played in the super bowl it's hard to get to the super bowl but that locker room was bummed out because everybody in there understood like it's hard to get here gotta get lucky you gotta have so many things go your way you gotta have a schedule potentially that sets up for you to have your best performances against your best teams while being healthy so hard to get to the super bowl super bowl rematch Will we ever see another dynasty like we saw at the Patriots?
2:26:39Pat McAfee:We thought we were going to do it with the Chiefs. Thought we were going to do it with the Chiefs. Are the Seattle Seahawks potentially thinking, excuse me, we are still what everybody thinks we can be? How about the Rams? Would this still count? Is it Sean McVay era? Yeah. It's the Sean McVay era. What the? Would they still? Dynasty-wise, I don't think so. Just because it's, what, five years removed? That's what I'm saying. Would this still count? Like if they? McVay era, but I don't know if you would do like the. towards mcveigh's career but not like yeah no chiefs i would say are still still in it because with that whole pats they did three years ten years or nothing three more years so i think the chiefs are still very much in that hey if they even if they take two or three or four more years off but then win again it's just andy reed so old like andy reed is as old as belichick was when he was done in new england yeah but andy reed's doing football look like it that's true i i asked i think I asked him at a wedding I was at, I said, how come they want you to retire every year?
2:27:37Pat McAfee:He goes, I don't know. They always say it. I don't. I love football, man. He's like, hey, what am I going to do if I don't coach football? I love football, man. It's like Bill Belichick. How long is he going to be at UNC? It's like, well, if they have success, I mean, until he dies? I don't know. What do you, I don't know how you judge that. Tom Moore, we mention this often. He's still coaching for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He's in there 4 a.m. every single day still. He's, what, 100 years old? Yeah. 200 years, 105 years old. Has spent every single day, basically, in a football locker room since he's 18.
2:28:12Pat McAfee:Unbelievable. Guys are committed to the ball. 87 years old, coaching legend. Tom Moore played for Iowa and began his coaching career with the Hawkeyes in 1961. Oh, my God. Joe Paul was 84 when he was done at Penn State. Now, he probably should have retired a couple years earlier, but. And then he passed away shortly after. Yeah. And he's only 68. Yeah. So, ball is happening for these guys for a long time. Somewhere or another. Maybe in that arena league that we watch with the Arkansas Diamondbacks. Yeah. Where they're absolutely awesome people. Hey, tomorrow's a huge day before we get out of here.
2:28:44Pat McAfee:Have to talk about this because we think it's a very cool idea. It's called DraftKings Game Day. Okay, DK Game Day. Do we think it should have potentially been DK Day? Potentially. But the reason why it's Game Day is because you got to tune in throughout the day and there's different things that are going to be offered up. Now, we don't know the exact specifics of the offers that are going to be up, but they're going to be at different times. So if you hop on DraftKings at like, let's say, tomorrow morning, 7 a.m., 8 a.m., there's going to be a special happening at that exact time. Then, you know, that thing might drop off at like 9 a.m.
2:29:16Pat McAfee:or 8.30 a.m., and then another one's going to come, and another one's going to come, then another, and then there's going to be multiple going, and then there's another one, there's another, all the way through the day. So there's chances to get a lot of different boosts and a lot of different favorable odds tomorrow all day throughout a variety of different sports and also styles of bets. So DraftKings is giving away the house tomorrow. Let's go take advantage of it. It feels like throughout tomorrow, DraftKings is giving away a lot. Now, we haven't been told the exacts, because I guess if we're told the exacts, there's a chance.
2:29:46Pat McAfee:The disclaimer language has to be blah, blah, blah. We shouldn't say it. But we've just been told very ridiculous odds boost going across the board, throughout different times throughout the day. So, DK game day happening tomorrow. Deals all day. Boosts, I believe. Opt-ins. I believe there's different odds and spreads potentially happening. I mean, tomorrow is going to be a huge day on DraftKings for us to kind of take advantage of the best sportsbook on earth. That is kind of what tomorrow is. I mean, just look how cool Kevin Hart and the old Joe Bro look in this picture. Are you kidding me? Well, they're going on a road trip to all 50 states because DraftKings is available in all 50 states, as you know.
2:30:25I'd like to have a nice little GoPro in that car if they're driving around to all 50 states and visiting every one of them.
2:30:31Pat McAfee:Funny you say that. We actually have the audio of what it sounds like in a car with Kevin Hart and said Nick Jonas JoBro. Now that DraftKings is available in all 50 states, we can finally go on that road trip we've always talked about. Yes, we can. See? You can take Russian guards at Mount Rushmore. Uh-huh.
2:30:47Ryan Garcia:Let the hot takes fly in Philly. Oh, shoot. Sorry. But it's a beater in Boston.
2:30:52AQ Shipley:Call it from Austin. Even the New Yorkers who live in Miami can make bits. They call us snowbirds. They do. I'm talking game to game, sport to sport, moment to moment, from sea to shining sea.
2:31:08Pat McAfee:There's your GoPro. Let's go. Paige, they're in there. They cover all 50 states in that video? Yes. Uh-huh. Well, no, I think only a few. They're still on the road, I think, right now. I did see on Instagram that Kevin Hart's back in a comedy cellar working up a new hour. So I don't know if he's in car And then driving it there And then he's back in car
2:31:26AQ Shipley:I had a golf YouTube page now too
2:31:28Pat McAfee:Yeah, it's good news that Kevin Hart's in there working another hour there I cannot wait to see him back on the road I've been to a few of his shows He's a spectacle Everything has He even monks the spectacle sometimes I think about what I just did The amount of money He is super talented And then Joe Bros, anytime they get in the studio Come on now And tomorrow, all day All day. All day tomorrow, we're taking advantage of DK. You're to the grind. All day, take advantage of DK. Those are the grinds, son. And if you're of age, I hope you'll join us on the best sports book on earth. And please be responsible.
2:32:09Pat McAfee:Can't stress this enough. If you're an asshole, you ruin it for all of us. You're not going to become a bazillionaire gambling on sports. Now, DK is going to give you the best odds. Yes, they are. And give you the best opportunity and have the best app for the amount of things. And tomorrow, they're giving away a lot of shit throughout the entire day that we should be definitely taking advantage of. I might be irresponsible. You're going to be irresponsible about the amount of advantages you're going to take of DraftKings tomorrow? That's actually how irresponsible you are doing that is actually you being responsible.
2:32:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, we would argue that's responsible taking advantage of DK who's trying to give away the house tomorrow.
2:32:50AQ Shipley:There we go. I think that's responsible of us.
2:32:53Pat McAfee:Irresponsible of us to make a pick on DraftKings and think, definitely going to happen. Let me go ahead and see what this is. So we need people to be responsible. All fit the states. But we also need to understand that. You need to be realistic. Realistic, probably going to lose. Follow up, nobody knows the outcomes of games. That's why games happen. We have no idea how anybody's going to play. There are certainly some misfortune. But it is nice to have a little bit of sauce on a game. It is nice to feel a little something at the end. It's nice to get that green crown kind of pop up there into my activity.
2:33:24Pat McAfee:So we're asking you to be responsible, and we're asking you to join us if you are a part of – there was a glitch, I guess, right there. It kind of caught me off guard all of a sudden. I'm staring down the camera on the bottom line. But be responsible if you're going to join us on DK. But come join us on DK. DraftKings. Game day. I mean, week one, Tar Heels won this 10-point dogs. So that was sitting right there. Anything can happen. We'll be back tomorrow. That's definitely going to happen on DK game day. Yeah. It's been fun this week, getting back into the studying of everything that needs to be studied.
2:34:00Pat McAfee:Yeah. It's going to be a big football season. Huge. Huge football season. A lot happened. And then I think, I think grape jams are about to be available tomorrow everywhere. Let's go. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in this thing together. Tomorrow should be a fun day. We can't thank all of you. enough for allowing us to do this for a living. Ty, we love you. Nick, we love you. We'll see you boys soon. Team on me, team on three, for the good of sport, baby.
