  • Brock Purdy is “surgical” early; Mike Evans is used differently in San Francisco (more sideline/over routes, red-zone threat).
  • Players of the Week highlighted: Brock Purdy (MVP so far), Josh Allen (“alien”), Devin Lloyd, Isaiah Rogers (Vikings special teams kick block), plus AFC/NFC special teams and defensive standouts.
  • Raiders optimism: Hezekiah (Masses) earns Player of the Week after two interceptions vs Justin Herbert as a rookie; panel suggests Raiders may not be “ass” this year.
  • Brazil travel: JJ Watt expects long travel and heavy rain risk; discusses staying safe and not going out into risky areas.
  • Cowboys vs Ravens preview: Shipley expects heavy Derrick Henry usage because run game/defense “travel,” and notes Dallas run defense and sack production concerns (only one sack so far, from Caleb Downs).

0:00Pat McAfee:Hello beautiful people and welcome to our Humble the Boat, the DraftKings Thunderdome. On this warm Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, this sports program begins now. Football! Here's the greatest thing and we can't wait to just jump right into all different analysis and segs talking about how great this football season has already been. The Toxie Table is here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Ty, sweet hoodie. Thank you very much. I just found it in my locker. You know, I was wearing an Iowa basketball long-sleeve shirt, and I just said, hey, it's not quite time for that yet. You know, I know the Hawks are playing this weekend, but we got a game on Thursday.

0:38I need some Packers gear today.

0:39Pat McAfee:I know we're doing super football conversation. The NHL starts its season next week. Crazy. Unbelievable. MLB right now about to head into their playoffs? Yep, that starts on Tuesday of next week as well. Okay, so we got the NHL coming back. We got MLB playoffs happening. We got college football in full force, full swing, with a full slate of great matchups, as opposed to the first couple weeks where we had one or two, and then the NFL's starting to cook. Let's go to nine-year NFL vet sitting in one half of the hammer. Dot! Cowboys seat, Darius J. Butler. Good seat, D-Butts. D-Butts, yesterday we got a chance to catch up with Devontae Adams.

1:10Pat McAfee:It does feel like this could be a season where old is new again or new is old. What is your big takeaway as we now kind of look back on the first two weeks of NFL season?

1:19AQ Shipley:Well, it's just a week-to-week league. We're always reminded every year we think we got stuff figured out. in the offseason. We think we got stuff figured out after week one. We saw the offensive explosion kind of around the league. And then we saw that taper down a bunch in week two. So now week three. Week four, I think, is when you'll really see the identity of these teams come alive. But I'm excited, man. It's football season. You talked about all the other things going on, WNBA playoffs coming up, President's Cup coming up. But, I mean, it's football season.

1:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, it is WNBA playoffs coming up. Right around the corner. I don't know if you saw, the fever last night took on a Minnesota team. Yep. Everybody loves this Minnesota team. Favorite. Favorite one at all. Everybody loves this Minnesota team. Well, Donna Kelsey and JWoww are in town. I'm sorry.

1:57AQ Shipley:DJ Woww?

1:59Pat McAfee:Yeah, JWoww in town to watch Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, who scores a 20-point game yet again for like three months straight. Crazy. Yeah, WNBA playoffs cooking. The Fever are going to win that one. Let's go ahead and understand that that's going to take place. And obviously, whenever you talk football, you've got to talk about the big guys, especially on this glorious Watt Wednesday. That's right. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us is the color commentator for the Arizona Cardinals local radio team. Wow. Love that. What was that, Ty? Just the way that comes out is pretty funny. Because, you know, J.J.'s in the number one booth on CBS.

2:31And then right after that, the color commentator for the radio team. And I love it. I think AQ does great work. It's just the juxtaposition there. I don't understand what's happening right now. The juxtaposition was pretty darn funny. I don't get it. I don't know if it was intentional, but the juxtaposition was pretty funny.

2:49Pat McAfee:I didn't like the pop that he made whenever I said that. I was just laying – this is a number two radio – Believe me, I know. And you know what? I wish he was still with Dave Pasch because I think they were the best in the business. No, don't throw his new guy under the bus. They're just getting started. I haven't been able to hear his new guy. New guy's good. Okay. New guy's good. JP Shadrick, good. He's got a name. That's good. JP Shadrick. We like that guy. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Super Bowl champion, player coach from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Indianapolis Colts, A.Q.

3:20Pat McAfee:Shipley. What's up, boys? Hey, not a bad start to the season there for the Arizona Cardinals. Maybe we're not completely ass is maybe the story of the NFC West Arizona Cardinals. That was the story after week one, and it was pretty good through halftime. It was pretty good. It was 7-7. I was like, okay, I'm excited where we're at right now, and then things went south in a hurry. Hey, Kew, I know you watch our program and others throughout the week, especially during football season. There's been a lot of things talked about this week. What has not been mentioned? Let's go ahead and go straight to A.

3:47Pat McAfee:Kusch's takeaway from week one or week two. The West is better than the rest. Oh, I get it because it kind of rhymes there. The West is better than the rest. There's only one NFC West team that did not make this graphic. It is the team that he is the color commentator for for the radio booth. And obviously that's because they're not undefeated. These lads, though, incredible at the football. Listen, I got to see the Seahawks up close and personal. And Drew Locke and Jackson Smith and J-Ball. Let's watch Jackson Smith and Jigba on the outside here. Look at this double move. Out, up, ooh, Buda Baker.

4:19I mean, a true vet, a true pro, bites on it, wide open, first series of the game, unbelievable. And then they come back a little bit later in the game, and you get them again right there on the post. But, again, they tried to simulate the pressure. They thought they were going to drop a D-tack while getting the throwing lane. Not for Drew Locke. He's too good. Jackson Smith and Jigba, again, scores two out of three touchdowns. He was unbelievable.

4:40Pat McAfee:So is your takeaway about the wide receiver quarterback duo or the teams as a whole? Well, I think it starts with the wide receivers. They got unbelievable skill in the West. And then obviously the quarterbacks have to make it happen. They got to make the throws, right? But the skill positions, in particular the receivers in the NFC West, unbelievable. And then Matthew Stafford and Devontae Adams obviously turn back the hands of time, go for 195 and two tuds on Monday night. They're spectacular. They were unbelievable. And when you watch them and when you watch Matthew Stafford every single week, he makes throws that just wow you.

5:09Manipulates the pocket, moves left, throws it between four guys. Obviously, Devonta Adams makes the catch, runs the end zone. This is my favorite play, though. Go to the next one here. Watch this. You're going to fake the outside zone? Nope, we're going to throw the fade. Devonta Adams set that up. Unbelievable how he walked off the line, sold the run, then got into the fade. Matthew Stafford, again, to the right, fakes the handoff, and then, boom, hits the fade ball. So good.

5:31Pat McAfee:Two vets that obviously know the nuance of football working together in a big way, especially with Puka with the hip injury. You know, he was potentially going to play on Monday night. Maybe we do just wait until Puka's all the way back if they're going to be able to continue to operate like this on the offensive side. Obviously, good run game. Sean McVay has a big brain, and they are viewing that week one game is just not happening. They're 1-0 right now. That is how everybody around there. And then the third quarterback is just operating at a surgical level right now. I mean, he's the MVP through two weeks right here.

6:01puts on the brakes, and then he finds Mike Evans on the sideline, toe-tapping. Listen, Brock Purdy's never had a receiver like Mike Evans. Mike Evans is one of the top ten receivers in the history of the game, probably, talent-wise. Unbelievable, 6 '5", rolling to his left. He's almost better than he is rolling to his right and just throws seeds to Mike Evans time and time again. He is the MVP by far through the first two weeks.

6:22Pat McAfee:Mike Evans is doing a lot of different routes with San Fran than we're used to seeing with Tampa Bay, right? Doesn't it feel like normally Mike Evans would be stretching the defense, stretching the defense? It's like, how does this guy continue to get back? He ran a couple comebacks, I think, in week one for first downs. Now, obviously, this is just kind of backyard football as Brock Purdy rolls out. Are they using him differently than they use him in Tampa, or are we just noticing it? No, it is, and I think that's part of the system in Kyle Shanahan's offense. It's a lot of over routes. It's a lot of sideline routes.

6:50Like, they're not the big deep ball down the field. Now, they have that, and they will have that, and they'll get the chunks to Mike eventually. but for right now, he's been fantastic and he's such a good red zone threat. You saw in the first week against the Rams, him being able to just say, give me the ball if we get a chance down there in the red zone. They get it to him for the touchdown. He's been fantastic.

7:07Pat McAfee:Okay, so the Niners play the Rams week one down there in Australia. Then they play the Dolphins and I think Dolphins fans will be used to this. Congratulations to the quarterback that played against the Miami Dolphins. He has won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. The NFL has announced their Players of the Week. Congratulations to Brock Purdy, Devin Lloyd, and Isaiah Rogers. Blocking a field goal, obviously, gets Special Teams Player of the Week on the NFC side. Then on the AFC side, you got the alien Josh Allen. Hezekiah Masses out of the Raiders. Huge win for them, undefeated still. And Andre Schmidt, who went three for three field goals-wise.

7:45Pat McAfee:Let's go to Hezekiah Masses there with the Raiders. He looks pissed that he won, but I do think he's quite a player, D-Bug.

7:51AQ Shipley:Yeah, I like a mean pitcher in the old catalog. But, yeah, he's a hell of a player. Two interceptions last week off of Justin Herbert as a rookie. So I love this as a rookie, getting a player of the week. That's big time for Hezekiah.

8:02Pat McAfee:Josh Allen winning a lot of players of the week. It feels like this is going to become a tradition, maybe weekly, with Joe Brady, his head coach. Happy birthday, Joe. Happy birthday, Joe. Turned 28. Yeah, that's right. Happy birthday to Joe Brady. Maybe 24. Actually, I don't know the exact age. He's a young lad. But they say that youthful energy in the building has helped out everybody, including the offense Josh Allen. AFC East you thought that window was closed in Buffalo. Josh Allen's taking his big ass lumber and body and seemingly opening that thing back up himself. How do you feel up there as a Patriot fan watching your team not play its absolute best early?

8:34You feel pretty good as a Patriot fan. I don't know how many defenses go on to win the Super Bowl when you let up 30 points in the first two weeks but still when you have Josh Allen you can't probably hang for that long of a time. Honestly it's just kind of turning the clocks back in general. Chiefs and Bills seemingly the classes of the AFC.

8:51Pat McAfee:Yeah, and Brock Purdy, Con, man, this dude in the Niners offense as a whole has been unstoppable. Yes, they've had 10 scoring drives and 11 incompletions. Brock Purdy was 20-22. I don't care if it's against the Dolphins or not. That is surgical. And Devin Lloyd, D-Butt down there in Carolina. We've been saying to Carolina, good football team.

9:08AQ Shipley:Very good football team. Very good football player. Had a great year last year, and he picked up right where he left off for the Carolina Panthers.

9:14Pat McAfee:Isaiah Rogers blocks a kick for the Vikings. Obviously, that was a low-scoring, cagey affair in a monsoon, which makes special teams even more important. AQ, what sticks out here amongst the players of the week? Well, Brock Purdy, like I said, he's the MVP so far through the first two weeks. Josh Allen, he's an alien. We know that. Devin Lloyd, Dave Canales, his coach, said maybe one of the best games he's ever seen a linebacker play. I mean, these guys had a good week, too. Congratulations to the players of the week. That's a big deal. We got a chance to do this last week. Thank you, NFL comms, for sending this over and letting us be a part of this because in the locker room, this is very well received.

9:50Pat McAfee:And, you know, obviously we know some of these guys up here, but there's guys that win players a week in your team that very rarely get recognized. It's cool to celebrate that. Yeah. Welcome to the league. Hezekiah. Yeah, exactly.

10:00AQ Shipley:South Florida guy, Broward County guy, too. Just got a text, too. So big shout out to Hezekiah. Okay, we obviously knew that going into the weekend about Hezekiah. And I like what Hezekiah's doing, you know.

10:11Pat McAfee:I like that, you know, Isaiah said, I'm going to smile for my photo. And do they have multiple photos because he's so young they don't know? Or did every photo they told him, okay, this time let's look happy. I don't got it. Hey, this time, look, give your game face. You got it. This one, let's be jovial. You got it. That face. Maybe Hezekiah doesn't play any games.

10:32AQ Shipley:I like that.

10:33Pat McAfee:Stole it. I mean, not bad getting players of the week this early in your career. Maybe he just gets it every single week. Why not? Wow, we might see a run here from Hezekiah of player of the week nods that just doesn't end for the rest of his career. That's possible, Raider.

10:48AQ Shipley:Hell yeah.

10:48Pat McAfee:He just needs two picks every single weekend. Not a bad start to your career. Not a bad start to the year. You get too early. Obviously, that makes up for a lot down the road. Maybe the Raiders are for real, especially Mad Max men coming off the edge again whenever they were going to get rid of him. They loaded up the defense. He's playing well. Raiders might not be ass at all this year. What was their over-under going into the season? Oh, that's a good question. I want to say four and a half. Four and a half, five and a half or something like that. I forget exactly what it was, but it feels like they might have an actual squad deep.

11:13AQ Shipley:They might. New head coach. Obviously got number one overall pick. So now we did look at them in the offseason, and we know the kind of the trend. We saw with Seattle. We saw in New England. You spend a bunch of money in the offseason. You do. That does a lot of times translate to win. So Kirk Cousins, we saw him maybe as a placeholder, but he's been playing some good football. So maybe Mendoza doesn't even see the field this year. In there 2-0 and haven't had their best player on the roster on the field, Brock Bauer. So once he gets back, gets healthy, that'll be awesome.

11:41Pat McAfee:I think that was breaking news. He is trending to be back. And I thought the same thing you just mentioned whenever I saw that. Man, they're 2-0 without Brock Bowers. Kirk Cousins is 2-0 without Brock Bowers, which is definitely his best offensive weapon. Ashton Gentry, obviously, not too shabby at all. You got a chance to see them or you know them pretty well, A.K.O.? Well, I got to watch a little bit of tape this week. And last week, obviously, I'm taking a notice of them. I'm tight with their GM and, obviously, the defensive coordinator I went to high school with, so I'm trying to zero in on that.

12:07This is the first time Max Crosby – you mentioned Max Crosby. This is the first time in a couple years where he has a counterpart, The other defensive end, Quiddy Paye, he's been fantastic, and he's getting some sacks in week one, getting some pressures in week two. Quiddy Paye? Now he knows how to play? Come on, Quiddy.

12:24Pat McAfee:We had high hopes and dreams for Quiddy Paye. He's showing up now. Well, there was moments where it would happen. There was moments where it would happen. It can't be the building, right? It's not just human form. He got Latte Latte now balling out. Leotu Latu is his name. Big up. And he had, like, how many interceptions last year? A lot. So many. Oh, yeah, one of Tua. I remember that one. Sweet. They're not saying nice stuff about Tua Don and Atlanta. I don't know. If he's ever going to play, well, I guess he's not ever going to play, probably. Penix? He's practicing now that Penix said he would start.

12:59Pat McAfee:Okay, the way – see, that's another Dolphins fan back there. The way he worded that is certainly fascinating.

13:03AQ Shipley:He's kind of fired up about Penix, too. He's singing. He's got that big Penix energy.

Read the full transcript

13:08Pat McAfee:Oh, I remember whenever Desmond Howard brought the entire crowd to their feet with the big Penix energy. He pronounced it a little differently. Yeah, big Penix energy. Well, it's the English language. Yeah. I mean, how are you not supposed to potentially, you know, say things like that? The Falcons are starting Michael Penix Jr. for week three. As QP1 makes his first start, Penix has deemed his reconstructed ACL ready after splitting reps last week with the ones. Okay, the Packers loom on Thursday. So we got Penix on Thursday. We got some magic on Thursday. Let's kick this week three off spectacularly.

13:43Pat McAfee:This is the first time we have an international game. It's going to be in Brazil. Yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, joining us now. The reason why this is a Watt Wednesday, a man who will be speaking over a football game on international grounds this weekend alongside Jim Nance. He is a Bull Ring of Honor member down there for the Houston Texans in which I believe there's only three of them. He'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer, we think, obviously. and he's an absolute hero first ever hey that's a good guy award from us yeah jj one good guy right there how are you jj great how are you guys doing good you remember that good guy award we gave it to you and then you just threw me under the bus immediately what was that five minutes later yep do you remember when that happened or not you gotta have a little yin and

14:29JJ Watt:yang gotta have a little yin and yang you know keep some balance yeah that's life as a whole

14:33Pat McAfee:let's talk about a little bit of balance how are you going to balance traveling down to brazil so So I think time zone-wise we're similar because we're in the Western Hemisphere. But it is a long-ass travel down there. What are your thoughts on the trip and how are you kind of expecting it all to go? I guess they said most amount of rain that they have had in that area since like 1997. That's a long time. Okay, and obviously –

14:56JJ Watt:What you love to hear before the first ever NFL game on a field. You just love to hear it. I'm really looking forward to it. I have never been to Brazil. I am very excited to go to Brazil. Might try and take a little trek up to the Christ the Redeemer statue because it looks unbelievable, and I would thoroughly enjoy seeing that. The fans seem to be very excited. As an announcer, I'm excited. If I was a player, obviously I'd probably be less excited about a 10-hour flight, but my job is a little less physically demanding now, so I enjoy it.

15:31Pat McAfee:Okay, so a 10-hour flight down there, a 9-hour flight down there, whatever it ends up being. vastly different than the Australia situation. Still a long-ass flight. For me, we were trying to map out how we would handle it if we were to do this, which we might. Who knows how many more games end up down there in Brazil, especially with the field. I think you're doing your day. I think we do our day. Okay, we do our day. I think go home, have the evening, put daughter to bed, baby boy to bed. Okay, afterwards, whatever you want to do in that moment. Then I think you're getting to plane or getting on plane 1130.

16:03Pat McAfee:I think you're going red-eye here. But we're taking, you know, we got a lot of Advil PM. We got maybe a couple of glasses of champagne. Anything else that maybe you utilize there. We're out, what, seven, eight hours. You wake up, you get breakfast. How you doing? It's going to be good. You're waking up. You're just having a day then, right in Brazil. Is that not the way to go about doing this?

16:22JJ Watt:That's pretty much what I've got going on. We're on the same wavelength here. It's going to be about a 9 p.m., 9.30 p.m. takeoff. Got the bed already set up in the back. I mean, let's be honest here. I'm very fortunate and lucky. It's very nice.

16:34Pat McAfee:I was talking about Delta and stuff like that. You're talking about a different situation. I understand what you're talking about.

16:39JJ Watt:Yeah, I'm not going to lie to you. We got a nice situation. We're good.

16:42Pat McAfee:This is the number one booth at CBS, okay? I'm going to get a chance to live a good life.

16:47JJ Watt:We got a bed. It's pretty sweet. Yes, it is. Full bed. Big bed for a big guy. So I got the bed set up. Yes, like you said, tuck the kids in, family, everybody's good. We're all set. Hop on board, straight to the bed. But I have learned this over the last couple of years, and it has made a big difference for me. again understand this is all very nice to have i bring a portable fan i bring a portable sound machine got the little eye mask all set to go you pop a little magnesium before bed and you are good to go i remember you were guys wake up at 8 a.m you're on the ground in brazil and i'm not 100 sure what they eat for breakfast down there but i know they serve picanha so i want some of that

17:26Pat McAfee:immediately okay and i don't know portuguese well enough it's one of the languages i don't think i I know a couple words, but they're not like the most positive. You know, learn that from soccer time. If you could just say thank you or whatever for them hosting our football game from us, we would be appreciative of that. I don't know if getting up to the Redeemer is – I've obviously never done it either. I think it's going to be a long trek, I think, from my understanding. A long line, right? I mean, there's going to be –

17:52JJ Watt:Not planning on walking.

17:54Pat McAfee:Not planning on walking. You're going helicopter up around that thing?

17:57JJ Watt:I like that. I don't know. I mean, I feel like there has to be an option besides walking. Don't do that.

18:03Pat McAfee:Are you going to be hanging off the chopper, saluting the redeemer, the Christ redeemer? Reach out to TC. Yeah, Tom Cruise definitely has a way to get up there. Go fire him. Yeah, TC could get him up there for sure. But if I'm not mistaken, when the Packers and the Eagles went and played in Brazil, they basically said don't leave the fucking hotel. Do not leave the hotel. There's a good chance that, you know, you go down anywhere near the favelas down there, you're getting non-pulled on. That was nine pulled on. Don't bring your wallet. JJ, look at us. That was the green conversation, but that's why they sent the Cowboys and the Ravens there because it's black and purple.

18:41There was a green conversation

18:42Pat McAfee:about potential ties to certain things that could drop you into a war. And we do all have to understand in reality of life, not everybody has the best intentions all over the place. We've watched documentaries about places maybe much more so than other places on that note. I mean, Ryan Lochte, he was out and about wherever he was. And look what happened. He did it, though. I know he did. What do you mean, look what happened? Yeah, look what happened. He made us all look like assholes. No, I know, but a media firestorm. You think J.J. needs that? You think J.J. needs to go down there, and he's just looking for something from the gas station.

19:20He goes in, and all of a sudden, he gets pissed off. He has an argument with this guy, and he completely destroys the gas station. Ryan Lochte It was this guy's fault

19:27Pat McAfee:Ryan Lochte has completely changed From who he was I think back in the day From my understanding I'm not so sure I think that's the last headline I read But I think he walked in And just started to go Yeah, yeah To them And they did not love it From my understanding

19:38JJ Watt:Do you know this, James? I'm just going to stick to the beach I'm just going to stick to the beach Good move Cabana Let's see if I can get No Some volleyball in

19:46Pat McAfee:You've got to get out there You've been international traveling before There's always going to be things That are said to you From an entire country basis You need to get your ass out there And go do Brazil You should be scouting for Burnley Get out there. Walk through all the neighborhoods.

19:59JJ Watt:This is true. I got the inside. I'm fortunate enough to get a little friendly with Vinny Jr. He gave me some very good restaurant recommendations. So very excited about that. So hopefully he'll get it set up there.

20:13Pat McAfee:Oh, the Brazilian Steakhouse. You're eating meat off swords down there. Oh, I forgot about that.

20:18JJ Watt:That's something I'm excited to see. Do they actually do that? Or is that just something that we say that they do?

20:23Pat McAfee:Oh, like kind of what we did to like St. Patrick's Day and all that other stuff where we just kind of say, you know what?

20:29JJ Watt:Pretty curious.

20:30Pat McAfee:Actually, that's a good idea. Let's turn it up a bit. And I like that we do that to stuff.

20:35JJ Watt:Me too.

20:36Pat McAfee:I really like that we do that to stuff.

20:37JJ Watt:Yeah. That thing doesn't turn off green the whole time. Just keep it rolling. Green. No red. Ever.

20:44Pat McAfee:And then they got that little soft bread. I don't know how much bread you're eating, but they have those little soft little bread things that you can, that's a bottomless bowl.

20:50JJ Watt:The cheese inside. Yes.

20:52Pat McAfee:Oh. Yeah. Man, I'm kind of jealous you're going down there, especially with your little mobile fan eye gimmick that you're going to be running in there with the noise. You know, like you're going to do it. Not that the plane doesn't make that sound already.

21:07JJ Watt:Yeah, I thought about that. I did think about that. I don't think I need to double down on the sound machine. I think we got our own built-in sound machine with the old boy's turbines in the ear.

21:18Pat McAfee:Yeah, yeah, you painted the picture pretty well. Those engines are made right here in Indianapolis, Indiana, so I hope you enjoy the hell out of those. Let's talk about the game. Lamar Jackson and Baltimore, after week one against the Colts, and the Colts are a damn good football team. Okay? Damn good football team. Damn good offense. Only three teams in the history of the Super Bowl have gone on to win after starting 0-2. Okay? So that's not the greatest number in history. I think one of them was one of the 90s Cowboys team. The last one was the 2007 Giants, I believe, and maybe Coughlin was about to get fired early in the year with how bad they started, and then they got hot, and then there was one in between.

21:52Pat McAfee:So going 0-2, it is difficult to win the Super Bowl, is what stats say. Baltimore Ravens, I thought they were going to go 17-0 after watching them week one against the Colts with how great it looked on the offensive side. Jesse Minter will have it figured out on the defensive side. That's why he's the head coach. And then Dallas Cowboys, offensively, they seemingly were able to keep up with the Giants there. Now, what are the Giants, especially now that we learn Jackson Dart is going to have season-ending surgery, so he's out for the rest of the year. Jackson Godspeed, that sucks. It's not your fault.

22:19Pat McAfee:Obviously, the injury thing is talked about with Jackson Dart a lot. That injury, freak injury, can't believe it happened. Sucks for the Giants. But the Cowboys' offense has been great. Defense has kind of been questionable. How do you see this game kind of faring? Let's say the grass is good and football can be played.

22:33JJ Watt:Yeah, really excited to see about it. Two teams obviously coming off of slightly different responses after week one and week two. With the Ravens, a phenomenal game in week one. And then a bit of a letdown, a fourth quarter letdown in week two, which is something that's become familiar to them, unfortunately. And then the Cowboys with the loss to the Giants in week one, but then a great bounce back game, albeit without Jaden Daniels for the commanders in the second half. But the Cowboys offense certainly looks like it's rolling. It does look like teams are kind of shading over and trying to take away George Pickens, which has clearly opened up a whole lot of space for C.D.

23:06JJ Watt:Lamb to go off and Dak throwing the ball all over the yard. The Ravens on the other side, they kind of went away from Derrick Henry in week two, which is not something that's generally recommended when you have one of the greatest running backs of all time. And I think for Ravens fans, the boiling point a little bit was the third and one decision to take a shot down the field, which I don't disagree with. I don't mind taking a shot on third and one down the field knowing you have Derrick Henry and you got another shot at fourth and one. But the problem that I have is that they then punted it on fourth and one.

23:38JJ Watt:So I do see the frustration there. But I would imagine, especially with the way the Cowboys run defense has been and how good Derrick Henry is, that you're going to see a very heavy dose of Derrick Henry on international grounds because run game and defense are two things that travel. That's the old school thing. Who knows? We'll see if it stays true.

23:57Pat McAfee:Okay, tell me about Christian Parker and his defense for the Cowboys. Obviously, against the Giants, there was an eight-minute drive in the second half, another eight-minute drive in the second half, and then a five-minute winning drive in the second half. Seenly not able to get off the field and not have what everybody thought they were going to have this year, which is a much better defense. What have you seen from the film?

24:16JJ Watt:Yeah, week one they had some communication issues. They kind of busted some coverages. They had some things where it was very clear that the communication wasn't quite there, which is normal. You know, you have a new system, a new coach, or you're working to install that. Week two was much better from that standpoint. When I look at them, I think you have to stop the run. They have some injuries that they're dealing with on the back end, which is going to be tough, But you have to stop the run first and foremost, which is something they have not been great at. And clearly in a game like this, you're going to need to be great at when you have Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson who can both beat you.

24:46JJ Watt:But then they also only have one sack. It comes from Caleb Downs. They've been getting some pressure. They got some pressure last week, but they've only gotten to the quarterback one time. So we'll see what happens there. They've had some guys step up to fill in for injuries. And they're going to need some more of that with a couple other guys out.

25:02Pat McAfee:They changed the green dot, right, to Barham, the rookie now has it. The Colts had this situation. They had it with Cam Bynum, and then they're like, that's not possible. Now they got rookie Barham with the green dot. I know you like the way he plays.

25:14JJ Watt:I do. I think he's filled in really well. I think he's played well. He had the viral moment in week one with him and Parker on the sideline, but then he had this viral moment in week two here with a couple pukes before the play. I think we've all been there. They tried to put the green dot on me one time, And the amount of speaking that you have to do and how quickly you realize people, including myself, are idiots and have to have the play repeated 60 times to them while you're dead tired and you're a middle linebacker trying to run. Why are we doing that? It's unbelievable. You'll just you'll say the play.

25:48JJ Watt:And then three seconds later, four people will turn to you and go, what is it? What is it? And you're just like, are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I just said it. and so you're dead tired he's puking all over the place and now he's trying to communicate while making checks on the back end and he's a rookie so much much respect to barham for being

26:07Pat McAfee:able to do that so early yeah and good luck as you continue to figure that out i mean cam bynum uh for the colts obviously has the most amount of juice has massive amount of moxie obviously talks a lot i think is probably why they thought this was the case he was at safety though so we're running downfield then we got to turn around we got to tell everybody what's going on and then you have the situation you're talking about what what well yeah i heard that what else uh and then you gotta worry about your play i'm thanking that uh i don't have to do it defenses did seemingly show up in week two though more than they did in week one do you think there was like a turn on of will i don't want to question people i don't like doing that because football players obviously tough but a lot of people say tackling is like want to do you think that is the difference between week

26:47JJ Watt:one and week two or do you think maybe no okay no i think it's the lack of tackling in pre-season and joint practices and guys not playing in the preseason. That's just kind of naturally how it goes. Week one is going to generally be your worst tackling game of the season because you haven't been able to live tackle. And no matter how much you, you know, form wrap up or you tackle dummies in practice, there is nothing like trying to tackle a full-speed human being in a real game. So you see missed tackles in week one, and generally you should see them go down in week two. And then here you see just – I still – I mean, I was there live.

27:20JJ Watt:I saw it live. I have no idea how 43-year-old Aaron Rodgers got up from this hit. It was violent. It was explosive. And he got it from the front and the back, and he just popped right up. And he kept playing. He also made a tackle later in the game where he took a knee straight to the side of the head. So I know he uses some unconventional methods, let's say, for recovery or whatever things. Whatever they are, working.

27:47Pat McAfee:Yeah, it feels pretty good for a 43. He also had, what, his leg bent back, what was that, like, last year or two years in England? I forget what it was. Knee just completely bent backwards. Thought that was it for sure. Thought career was over at that point because recovery. Comes jogging back out the next play. Obviously chin strapped off. He feels as if and acts as if and would like to be talked as if he is a throwback old school quarterback. Like, hey, we read the defense. We give the call. We play if we can. Not if we're 100%. Like, he does genuinely feel that way about the sport and the position.

28:20Pat McAfee:But, yeah, after seeing him get sawed in half and sandwiched in the same play, I think we all were thinking it was potentially close to demise. Instead, he gets up there afterwards and goes, yeah, Mike's going to have to start calling better plays. And I haven't been hit like that in my whole career. I don't even know. I don't think I've ever taken one of those before. So, I'll be excited to see how I feel tomorrow as well. Now, more about that game because you were obviously there on the call. Go ahead, D.

28:41AQ Shipley:Yeah, we've talked a lot about Aaron Rodgers getting beat up out there. Yeah, but Drake May, Drake May is not off to a hot start right now following his MVP runner-up season. Are you worried about Drake May? What was your vibe with him, I guess, pre-production going into the game? And then what are your thoughts coming out of that game?

28:57JJ Watt:Yeah, I mean, I don't know if worried is the right term, but I think that you're certainly looking at it and not seeing quite the same efficiency, quite the same success out of that offense as you were last season when they were really rolling during the season. I mean, just his stats from the start of the postseason last year until now are quite the contrast to what they did during the regular season. I think having Travion Henderson back is massive for them because he really can hit a home run at any time and take any ball to the house from anywhere on the field. So he kind of opens up some things and you really have to respect that in the run game.

29:30JJ Watt:But no A.J. Brown certainly hurts the offense, having to spread the ball around a little bit more. but I think if you're a Patriots fan you're happy that you won and I think the defense is playing extremely well but there is certainly a sense of urgency in getting that offense up to the level that it needs to be at if they want to get back to and eventually win a Super Bowl.

29:50Pat McAfee:Was it weird up there to not see any trickery from the Jumbotrons behind the uprights during the kicks?

29:56JJ Watt:That was a that was an interesting topic going into the week I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on that overall uh i think it's a brilliant play i think it is funny now that you have to do the same thing for both teams i like i like that there's still a little bit of home home field advantage at some times and it feels like we're trying to kind of take that

30:16Pat McAfee:further and further out of the game yeah and i also like we're all in this together who uh jumbotron operator music operator replay operator like hey we're all in this together that's what it used to be clock operator definitely felt like if you were at a game and there was one second or No seconds. It was certainly one second for the home team. Zero seconds. And I think with the gambling and the hyper spotlight on everything that takes place, they have to hone those things in. But I don't mind a distraction, basketball happening behind a kick. If that is the reason why somebody misses, first of all, think about the celebration Jumbotron operator is having.

30:51Pat McAfee:That's a moment that will never happen. That will never happen often. But if a kicker misses because of that, it's like, shouldn't have made it. Like, shouldn't have made the kick anyway. So there was a couple different ideas and concepts that people did. I didn't really realize this one because I think they, whenever Vinny was up there, maybe zoomed in on Vinny's face. So there were some places that were zoomed in on Vinny's face. So it was right behind the upright, and Vinny looks up there to look, and it's him just staring at his face. Is that distracting? Definitely. I think in college there was one.

31:22Pat McAfee:I forget where we were at. They did that to me where I was on the Jumbotron. right but like as soon as i looked up for where i was gonna kick i just saw me and i'm like naturally uncomfortable you know it's like just another thing so i i didn't mind it but i did appreciate paganetti saying now let me show you the stats here these assholes are winning because of this thing and it's like the nfl immediately goes all right not everybody's jumbotron is right behind the uprights we can't be doing this every single time we gotta change the rules but i like that we had that going on no stone unturned in the nfl i like that and if you got to get caught doing something you get caught you adjust cool but at least you were trying in in a lot of sports

31:56JJ Watt:i think that's how the highest levels talk yeah no paganetti does a good job with finding all that type of stuff and putting it out there i actually had him with me up there this week he's he's in that area so it was funny to see him in that stadium knowing that he's kind of the one who

32:10Pat McAfee:made them change that rule the paganetti jumbotron rule hey these people have been taking advantage i'm not saying it's a bad thing i'm just telling you what has been happening because i think a lot A lot of people went up to Paganini and thought he was against it. Paganini's like, no, I'm just telling you, like, these are the things people are doing trying to win games here in the NFL because of how hard it is to win. You've got to get after it. Okay, let's talk about another team who had a big-time quarterback conversation. You worried about Drake before we move on? No, not yet. Definitely A.J.

32:36Brown being gone sucks a lot. Not worried about Drake. He'll figure it out, and we can run the ball, and we can play defense. So let's just get a couple wins and get A.J. Brown back healthy.

32:44Pat McAfee:Drake May was an MVP finalist this last season. Obviously a huge, huge run for the Patriots as a whole. There was a guy that we thought maybe could become MVP finalist whenever he gets dropped in a KOC system. Doesn't start that way. Go ahead, AQ. Yeah, Jage, we both played with Kyler, and obviously everyone was curious to see how that would work with KOC. Got cut short early in week one, obviously. He comes back this week. They're 2-0. How do you see that working out?

33:09JJ Watt:Yeah, I'm really still looking forward to seeing exactly how it looks in that KOC offense. We only got an extremely short version of it there in week one, and it was pretty unfortunate in the interception off of the corner blitz there from Jonathan Gannon, and then obviously the brutal hit to the head that knocked him out of the game. So we really don't have a great picture of what that offense is going to look like. Carson Wentz has stepped in admirably and done a great job, and I think the defense is very clearly the driver at the moment for the Minnesota Vikings with Brian Flores and everything that he does to teams and puts them in a blender and lives by the blitz, dies by the blitz.

33:46JJ Watt:But I'm still really excited. I was really excited to be there in week one to see what the offense would look like with Kyler. So I'm still waiting and looking forward to seeing what KOC and Kyler look like together.

33:55Pat McAfee:Okay, so Carson Wentz, 2-0. Been there, obviously, for a couple years now. Knows the system seemingly well. Still Carson Wentz. I mean, in the downpour, there are still some Carson Wentz moments where you think to yourself, wow, he's trying to lose the game for us. And then there are some moments where it's like, yeah, this guy's unbelievable at football. Do you think KOC just wants to know if Kyler was the right decision instead of riding the guy who's got you a couple wins? Like, I don't know how I feel about the decision, personally. And I am a Kyler supporter. I've lost a lot of money gambling on Kyler Murray, thinking and knowing how good of a football player he can be.

34:30Pat McAfee:I'm a huge KOC fan. I think people understand how I feel about Carson Wentz's highs and Carson Wentz's lows because I experienced it. But he's 2-0 right now. You don't really have much loyalty to Kyler. He just got there this offseason. They're not paying him a bunch of money. I think that's a big decision. I don't mind it. I trust KOC more than I trust myself. I'm not there. I don't really know it. But that felt like a little bit of a surprise to me. It honestly did.

34:54JJ Watt:I mean, I don't think there's – I think there's – if you want to, you can certainly have a discussion about it. But I think there's a reason Kyler Murray won the starting job, and it was pretty clear from pretty early on that he was going to have that starting job there. And their goal is to win a Super Bowl. And these first two wins, yes, Carson has played well, And I think he does exactly what you want a backup quarterback to do is go out there and not lose a game for you, put you guys in good spots, especially when you have a defense that puts them in the red zone on their first possession as many times they did, like against the Packers.

35:25JJ Watt:And he can go out there and execute the offense. I think what they want to see and what they believe that they have in Kyler Murray is the chance to potentially go out there and do something really special. And so, like I said, I think the biggest thing is there's a reason he won the starting job at the beginning of the season. And they want to see if they can make their vision of him come to fruition.

35:45Pat McAfee:I'm pumped to see what KOC and Kyler can become. It's still early in the year, obviously, so a lot of time for growth. And a lot of people are like, well, if he comes in and struggles, are you going to put Carson back in? It's like, well, if they're making this decision, they're not worried about right now. They're worried about end of season, to your point. And they're saying the ceiling is the roof. And the ceiling with Kyler, boy, feels like it could potentially be much higher than what Carson went.

36:04JJ Watt:And, I mean, you're 2-0 in that NFC North against the Packers, against the Bears. Like, that's a very good place to be sitting. And if you're the Minnesota Vikings right now, I'm sure they're extremely happy.

36:15Pat McAfee:Let's go away from the NFC North and let's go to the best division in ball. The division that sits 1-7. AFC South, go ahead, Con Man. Yeah, Jage, the Houston Texans, the team that you're the member of the Bull Ring of Honor for, they are 0-2. Now, this is an unfamiliar territory. They went 0-3 to start the year last year, still made the playoffs. What is your level of concern? Is it more so, hey, they played the Bills and the Bengals, both those teams are going to be really good this season, or is there a little bit of uh-oh with this offense when it comes to, you know, weapons on the outside?

36:51Nico Collins already missing time. T.J. Stroud threw for 350, but they didn't score any touchdowns. What is kind of your thoughts around Houston?

36:59JJ Watt:Yeah, I mean, unfortunately, like you said, it is charted territory that they have started 0-2 before and have made the playoffs multiple times before after starting 0-2. So I don't think the panic is as high as it might be if there hadn't been those experiences in the past to look at and point to. But I think the run game has to be successful. I think you have to be able to block. Having no Nico is pretty clear how much he unlocks in that offense and what he allows you to do. The first game against the Bills, obviously a shootout and had a chance down there near the red zone at the end of the game.

37:34JJ Watt:So, you know, that one goes a different way. You're having a different conversation. but I think the Bengals also clearly shored up that defense a bit. The stout run defense there, the guys in the middle being able to lock it up. So two tough opponents for sure early on, but very clearly need to get going quickly here.

37:51Pat McAfee:Yeah, I don't know. You know, I don't know. Like, I normally am a believer.

37:57JJ Watt:What don't you know? What don't you know?

37:59Pat McAfee:I'm just normally a believer in D 'Amico and CJ, and they've let me down here. Big time. I'm going to be honest. They've let me down. Now, early, a lot of season left. Obviously, a lot to get figured out. But they've let me down in Houston, okay, because they're representing the AFC South.

38:16JJ Watt:Now, another team representing the AFC South. Are you finally conceding and just saying that that's the AFC South representation? We haven't won the AFC South in like 13 years or something up here.

38:27Pat McAfee:And they didn't win it last year. Yeah, Jags won it last year, which we'll talk about here in a second, okay, which I know you have actual good thoughts about, which I cannot wait to hear. Maybe that's why you aren't concerned, though, because they still have six games against the AFC South, which is largely a dog-shite division. No, the Colts just took the Chiefs to overtime. Oh, yeah, that's a good point. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Now, week one, that was a wake-up call. They did the same thing the Rams did with the Australia game. Just go ahead and wipe that one out against Baltimore.

38:56Pat McAfee:This past week, took the Chiefs to overtime. Now we got the Texans coming to time. Wearing the rivalries uniform. Now we go. Okay. I got a chance to see these gray, gray demolishers that the Indianapolis Colts anvil. Anvil, yeah. The hammer anvil jersey rivalry won. And that's the helmet? Yeah. Yeah. Cage, when you see this, bucking you around. I don't like what they're saying about the Forrest Buckner, by the way. But the Forrest is a great player. We are very thankful to have him. Hopefully he's here forever. Bang! Boom! When you see this, CJ Stroud is going to have nightmares. here he's gonna say what those anvil super duper rivalry gray great jerseys really put me into a blender because cj's had a lot of success in a lot of us has he not oh yeah we have another dark night themed uniform on a one o 'clock game no this is a rivalries uniform okay this isn't indiana

39:51JJ Watt:knights this is the rivalry it's it's kind of similar nfl sanctioned this isn't a team thing it's an nfl thing remember they do the divisions yeah we're doing i know what it is i understand stand, it is a little similar. What's that?

40:07Pat McAfee:Foxy just told me. We're three-point dogs at home in our super-duper great anvil hammer time jerseys. Makes sense. Right where we want to be. Pierce is on IR now. I think his walking was an indicator that he wasn't ready yet.

40:21JJ Watt:I think we might have had a little beat on that with the walking. I don't think that's just how he walks. I just don't.

40:29Pat McAfee:The guy sucks walking uphill. I mean, there's just not a good walker, this guy. It's like, well, he looks to be a little bit lame there on the foot. He was getting open and explosive, like in reps in practice and during the game. But whenever it came week one and they said he's going to be limited, it's like, what, limited? I thought we were back. And then you would see the reps in which he was limited in when he was on the field. He was full go. So I guess like, oh, maybe he's not in as great a shape as he wants to be. Maybe that's the case. And then obviously he re-injures it or re-aggravates it, whatever ends up happening, and he's back on IR.

40:59Pat McAfee:It's like we paid him a lot of money this offseason. He was obviously going to be a big focal point of our offense. That's a devastating injury.

41:07JJ Watt:He's fun to watch, man. He unlocks a whole lot. I mean, he just takes tops off of defenses. He makes the big explosives. He's a great player. He's really fun to watch. It does really suck that he won't be out there for a while.

41:17Pat McAfee:Yeah, I'm sure you're really bummed as we got the Texans at home this weekend. Godspeed, Alec. Now let's go to the AFC South champs. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, James, before the year we talked about how the Jags are kind of perpetually underrated. Liam Cohen said the same thing. They had a tough one this week against the Broncos. Are they still underrated? Do you think they're still flying under the radar? There may be a couple other teams who you kind of have circled like, hey, not enough people are talking about them or respecting them. And then on the flip side, the Broncos. Is there cause for concern there with Sean Payton not calling the plays?

41:49They won, obviously, but they don't look like a Super Bowl contending team, albeit early through two weeks.

41:55JJ Watt:Yeah, we kind of talked about the Sean Payton play calling thing a little bit last week with the Broncos, and they have a big one coming up here this week on Sunday night. So we'll find out a whole lot more about them and what they're looking like. But when you talk about underrated teams, I think we talked about Jacksonville in the offseason. But right now, maybe it's just because I'm watching the film of it, preparing for this week's game, or maybe it's because people really should be talking about them. But the New Orleans Saints are not getting anywhere near the amount of love that they should be getting right now.

42:23JJ Watt:Now you've got week one with the Lions and everything that went down at the end of that game, but right down to the wire. And then you've got the Ravens, who week one looked unbelievable. And like you said, Pat, looked like possible world beaters, maybe 17-0. And then they have the Saints come to town and take them for a victory. So we know that the Ravens have had troubles at home. We know that they've had troubles closing out leads at the end of games. But I think you have to give a ton of credit to everybody down there in New Orleans, Tyler Shuck, Kellen Moore, and what they're able to do. And it's very clear.

42:52JJ Watt:People in New Orleans have been very excited about this for a long time. I think the world needs to or is starting to wake up to it.

43:00Pat McAfee:Well, I think there was a couple years there where everybody, maybe even Saints fans, and we love the Saints fans. We appreciate what they do. That is actual home field advantage down there. It's a scene. It's a festival to go play down there.

43:12AQ Shipley:Oh, yeah.

43:12Pat McAfee:It is a cool thing to go play down there. But it feels like the conversation over the last, what, four or five years was like, ah, they probably don't have the ability to be good. The cap. The cap. There was some pick stuff that had going on. I mean, it just felt as if they were always behind, way behind, way behind, paying people that aren't there, don't have access to certain things. Everybody talked about the Broncos with Russell Wilson having to pay him off. I think the Saints have been like that for multiple years. So it was just like an expected they're not going to be good. Kellen Moore, I think, even goes in there with like, hey, you have a little bit of time here to kind of figure it out.

43:45Pat McAfee:Last year, towards the end of the season, what we were seeing was Shuck was like maybe this guy's quarterback. Then this offseason, Alvin Kamara could have left, could have been pissed off, said, nah, I want to be here. A lot of good news coming out of the Saints this offseason, and obviously it's paying off for them. They go for two against the Lions, which we respect and appreciate them doing that for ball in overtime. Could have tied that up. That game could have been a tie. They inevitably lose because of that decision. But I think we like what the Saints have done, and we're incredibly happy for them as a whole because they were expected to be ass and were ass for a while, J.J., and that's not good for a great fan base down there.

44:16Pat McAfee:It deserves more, obviously.

44:18JJ Watt:No, fully agreed. Incredible fan base. That place, when it's bumping, it is bumping at the best. So happy for them because they're also, they are currently in that underdog role. And when you have a team that performs the way that they're performing right now, and you also feel like you're the underdog, that's a fun place to be when the city and the team are on the same page.

44:38Pat McAfee:Go to that top five passing yards. Let's go to the NFC South, shall we? You got Tyler Shuck. You got Bryce Young in there at number two. Carolina Panthers might be a great football. Might be a great football borderline.

44:50JJ Watt:Who's that at three that everybody was questioning? Who's that at three? I can't read it. I don't see it. Oh, the only guy without a win up there. Yep. Jeez. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Everybody wanted to talk about it in the offseason and all this and that. But, I mean, clearly still have some things to figure out for sure. But let's not act like it's like a full-blown slouch down there.

45:11Pat McAfee:Is that without Nico too? One of those games? Yeah, he had 350 last week without Nico. Dolan Schultz had 140.

45:17AQ Shipley:Probably more worried about the defense right now.

45:20Pat McAfee:Well, that's why I'm saying I don't think – because I always just assume that that's going to be good. If you watch it, it's like, no. And that's what I was alluding to, but I don't want to question their defense going into this weekend. There's no reason for me to do it. No. And they played Josh Allen. I think it would be good.

45:34JJ Watt:Nobody would clip it and probably replay it or anything.

45:37Pat McAfee:No, I didn't say that. I didn't say that.

45:39JJ Watt:I mean, you could. I'm just saying you could if you wanted to. Like, if you had some things you wanted to say about it, I don't think anybody would use it as motivational tactics.

45:47Pat McAfee:The Houston sack station. Houston, we have a problem. Yeah, I'm not doing anything with that defense. They're so good, actually. I love them. And they've just had a couple very tough opponents. That's what they've had. Very tough opponents. Josh Allen goes nuclear. Joe Burrow does his thing. And then now Danny Dimes coming to town. Uh-oh!

46:09I'm dancing.

46:09JJ Watt:Coming to town? Or is it in Indy?

46:11Pat McAfee:Well, I guess if... It's the Stroud House. No, it's not. Danny Dimes is coming to the crowd. I didn't mean that. Don't clip. It's a lot. We got signs up there now. This might be like a 195 game. Lou Anarumo's defense has had a historically terrible start. More yards through the first two weeks than any other team by a 200-yard margin. Okay, so they're up over 1 ,000. The second most amount of yards given up over a two-game series to start the season was 884. Lamar and Mahomes. Hang on. Exactly.

46:40JJ Watt:Hang on. Run that back for me. Run that stat back for me.

46:42Pat McAfee:So through the first two weeks, I think we've given up 1 ,096 yards. It's the most through the first two weeks in history. The second most is like 884 yards or something like that. Yeah, in the history of ball. Yeah. And who's second? It was like the 90s or 77 Seahawks. But I also believe, just from hearing the stat. 1 ,029. Okay, total yardage given up by the Colts in weeks one, two. That's the second most I can find in the first two weeks? No. We saw a stat. Hembo sent us a stat that said it was the most. There was like 884 or something. Yes, and I'm also pretty sure just knowing the stats of it that the Falcons, I mean, they almost gave up 600 yards week one, and Bryce Young threw for like 280 week two.

47:21Like the Falcons might have also broke that record and be number two. So offenses are just really good right now. Well, or a couple defenses are just really, really ass right now.

47:30Pat McAfee:And it feels like the Colts are the assest of ass. Lamar and Mahomes. Very good players. Two of the best. Two multi-MVPs. Now you have the third leader of pass yards in the NFL coming into town. All right, let's talk about a quarterback that had a great first week.

47:49AQ Shipley:It's a tough-ass league, man.

47:51Pat McAfee:It is a freaking tough-ass league. Hard-ass league. Hard-ass league, man. It's a freaking hard-ass league. It's a must-win. Dang right. Did you hear that? Steichen said that.

48:01JJ Watt:Must win?

48:02Pat McAfee:No, he said after first week it was a wake-up call for the guys.

48:05JJ Watt:Oh.

48:06Pat McAfee:Next second week he said, it's a freaking hard-ass league, man. What do you want?

48:10JJ Watt:wrong. It's not wrong. It is a hard-ass lead.

48:13Pat McAfee:Exactly.

48:14JJ Watt:And you do got to find a way to win.

48:17Pat McAfee:Yes, you certainly do, but we've lost nine straight, I think. Nine or ten straight. Yeah, the Sauce Gardner stat's crazy that he hasn't won a game in U.S. soil since 24. That's crazy. Okay.

48:31JJ Watt:I was talking to somebody about this yesterday because they were asking early in the season, a team that's 0-2, how bad does that really feel i don't know if people outside the buildings and trust me i know how passionate fans are i know how into it they are and i know it can absolutely ruin their week but inside of a building the week after a loss versus the week after a win could not be more different every second of every day that loss in the plays and everything and yes you're trying to turn the page and do all this it is on your shoulders the whole week and everybody especially if you give up over a thousand yards on defense like that week is miserable we didn't give up

49:10Pat McAfee:a thousand in one week okay he's getting a little dramatic right now he's getting a little a little dramatic with the way you're abusing these stats but there's a lot of this too a lot of finger pointing coaches the bad team play well if you're losing every week there's a lot of yeah everybody gets nervous everybody thinks they're getting fired so everybody thinks they're getting fired so everybody's trying to not get fired so linebackers coaches are certainly saying d-line not holding up anybody, you know? And then you got secondary coaches being like, well, if we could get home, what do you want us to do?

49:39Pat McAfee:Like, everybody is trying to deflect. I've only been a part of, I think, one losing – two losing – I think one almost the ultimate losing season. Good brag. Yeah, my football life was pretty good there for a while, I'm going to be honest. We had Pat White in college and then Peyton Manning. He's pretty good. And I had Andrew Luck. I mean, it was a nice little ride. I had a nice little ride for –

50:01AQ Shipley:You got out. You got out. Just done.

50:03Pat McAfee:Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Did I see?

50:06JJ Watt:Maybe you were the reason. Maybe you were the locker room glue guy that held it all together.

50:10Pat McAfee:I do think that I had been an asset for the locker rooms I was in. I do think I was an asset for the locker rooms I was in. I do believe. And I think that has carried over to this life here as well. I do think that. But I had nothing to do with it. I just like that. And you had to go.

50:26JJ Watt:So you thought you were an asset. And some others thought you were an ass hat. And that's why you had to go.

50:31Pat McAfee:Go where?

50:32JJ Watt:What was the reason?

50:33Pat McAfee:Go where? Go where?

50:34JJ Watt:Leave.

50:35Pat McAfee:No, I just didn't want to focus on punting balls when the offense failed anymore. You know, like that was just kind of something I didn't really want to do anymore. It was like there's a lot of other things I would like to focus on. I love ball, will always love ball. But whenever, like, you have a job that only 32 people have and you're trying to be the best in the world for it, for your team, for your city, for your legacy, it is pretty all-encompassing, you know? And if you happen to have a brain that has, like, a thousand ideas at all times and you're just constantly worrying about punting a ball whenever the offense fails after three downs.

51:03Pat McAfee:It was just a little bit of a tear. It was a little bit of a tear. Wanted to kind of do some other stuff. But I still love ball and still love the call. So it was a juxtaposition, I do believe, as a whole.

51:14JJ Watt:It's a really good point because that's one of the biggest things I've learned by far of retirement is how much of your literal energy, time, focus. I knew it, obviously, how much of it was directed towards one singular thing of football. But until you're done with it and out of it, and you have to, even for me, it took multiple years to realize, I really, really tied my full identity, life, everything up into this one thing. And there was an entire world that I wasn't even paying attention to, caring about and realizing how small and minuscule my actual piece in it all is. And it's a pretty big realization when you come to that revelation.

51:55Pat McAfee:Yeah, it's an enlightening experience to kind of be able to kind of not be obsessed, you know? And I was very lucky that I got to do stuff off the field as well. Like the Bob and Tom show here in Indianapolis, very lucky to do it. Obviously was able to do some stand-up shows to raise some money and do this all stuff. And as I started like really finding fulfillment in those things and like giving back and like figuring it all out, then I thought I was like rude to the position I was holding. I was like, I am one of 32. There's a lot of people that would like this job. like me not being fully committed to this thing while I'm doing all this there was just like a lot of things that kind of went into it where it was like I didn't think I was treating it with enough respect as I continued to do all the off-field stuff as well and anytime I would miss I mean it was oh this guy remember Tuesday morning he thinks he's some comedian I would uh hit a one hit a bum so that led to the best performances out of me to be clear because I didn't want to get like kind of held over me but it was just a weird balance it's a weird balance towards the

52:50JJ Watt:end there yeah I mean I saw Josh Allen talk this week about being a father and how that changed his whole perspective because he comes home and realizes like my child doesn't care about anything that i just did and i i absolutely agree when i had koa like that was it was my last year but i i do wish i had that perspective earlier where you treat it just as seriously from a preparation standpoint but you're able to just let it all go once you leave the building i don't i don't think there was really any time my entire career that i was able to let it all go yeah i think hall of fame speeches are always like to my wife thank you you know what happened i mean i was

53:27Pat McAfee:you know every one of them to my kids i wish i could have you know but this doesn't happen without you know i'm sorry but also pretty cool life we're living i think you know it's like always uh it's always one of those but that's everybody at the top of every profession i'm also learning are all you know kind of psychos but it is nice to be able to kind of compartmentalize life and work. And yeah, football does not really let you do that. That's why these NFL coaches are hobbits, and they live in their offices for entire football seasons. Now, there's another guy that I do think is addicted and obsessed with becoming great.

54:02Pat McAfee:And I think he was very worried about what this season was going to become. And he got cut off, had a towel over his head, took the towel off, tears in ice. you know damn right right here like he's vince papali almost which he is for chicago i will say as a whole comes out it is a hamstring now i have said and will continue to say that reaction is coming from real pain right there okay on the ground whenever he's hitting and like in pain hamstring is something that is very very painful there's a reason why the uh sniper thing has been talked about whenever people pour their hamstrings like he's got shot literally in the back which has happened to other hamstring injuries before.

54:45Pat McAfee:We all thought it was over for Caleb this season. We were very bummed out. Turns out not going to be over for him. Just this situation as a whole, Jage, kind of how you took it in and where you see it now.

54:56JJ Watt:I agree with your full assessment. A pulled hamstring while running full speed, not fun, hurts like hell. That's not enjoyable whatsoever. Like you said, the pain in the moment is real. The thing I like about Caleb, like, yes, we all see, Like probably a little over the top on the card off and with the fist pumping and everything. But Caleb does seem to be able to like, not really care and like have some fun with himself. And he like, he's at the Cubs games and doing the chance with everybody. So I can see Caleb being like, yeah, maybe that was a little ridiculous, but I'm going to lean into it.

55:31JJ Watt:I'm just going to have some fun with it. And this won't affect him in the way where some other people might be like, yeah, I probably shouldn't have done that. Or like, that was maybe a little ridiculous. I think he can have some fun with it and come back. and who knows, maybe this is his touchdown celebration the rest of the year. Like, this is the Chicago, like, yeah.

55:48Pat McAfee:Maybe it's bear paw on the left hand, big thumbs up on the right hand. You know, there's a chance. But we can't.

55:53JJ Watt:And the mustache makes it all so much better. Like, having that mustache makes it look ten times better.

56:00Pat McAfee:Especially as a Chicago Bears quarterback. I mean, it all kind of goes together. But we can't, like, state enough. Hamstring pulls hurt like hell. I mean, they hurt like hell. They'll get everybody. the carting off i don't think it's the towel i just i just rang the bell at the hospital you know like that that is kind of drag yeah like no but also that hurts like hell i would assume i think it is all the towel with the reaction afterwards that really got us into a full tizzy you don't know what he's going through right there i don't he could be praying that his hamstring

56:32JJ Watt:heals very quickly and he just wants him i think in his head at that moment he had the towel over his head. He was thinking about, like, damn, I've worked so hard. I'm going to miss so much time. And then he literally, in his head, was like, no, my body language is not good right now. Let me give these guys something positive before I get off the field. I don't want them to think I'm down. That's really what I think happened in that moment.

56:51Pat McAfee:Okay. Well, we appreciate Caleb handling himself that way. We can't wait to see him back. That's J.J. Watt. We're back on the other side. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. Goodbye.

58:06Pat McAfee:Football! He's the absolute greatest. We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it. J.J. Watt just joined us ahead of his trip to Brazil as the Ravens and the Cowboys will take each other on at 4.30 in the afternoon in America. 5.30 in the afternoon in Brazil. Interesting international game that doesn't have the morning wake-up call. We'll get into that, I assume, next week with the European games. Is that week four, I think, is when it starts?

58:33JJ Watt:Good question. Maybe week five?

58:35Pat McAfee:I think it's earlier than we expected. It's going longer, obviously, now than it ever has. With the morning football, wake up in the morning, have a good time. Go ahead, Conman. Yes, week four. Colts versus Commanders. Yeah, so I thought week four is when it started. Maybe that's why I knew it was the case. Just know we've got morning football coming up. We already have international football coming up. Let's go to the talks table. I have a boss of Connor and that, Ty Schmidt. What is your problem? I might sleep in for that one. No. Alarm clock on. We have American football in Germany, I do believe, between the Colts and the Commanders.

59:10Pat McAfee:A nice little how do you do in the morning. You get on DraftKings. Let me see what everybody's sitting at right now. Under. I'm not talking about just for that game. I'm talking about a Sunday morning as a whole. No Alec Pierce, no Jaden Daniels. Come on. Did they do this on purpose? Did who do this on purpose? The league. Every time we have these international games, they would never do it, obviously, for a Cowboys-Ravens game. It's like, hey, you guys do whatever you can do to be healthy when you go over there. Colts, commanders, shit. If you guys want to leave 30 guys back home and then go over there and just play with whoever you got left, feel free.

59:43That's not what they're doing. That's kind of what it feels like.

59:46Pat McAfee:No, especially not in Germany, which I believe this game is in. Has it not been? Is it Germany? I'm not sure. I know Patriots-Lions is in Germany. It's in England. Okay, so it's in England, of course. I knew that. I'm very thankful that it's in England. I got to play in England. I like the celebration of American sports that happened over there. The Colts are looking to get a big-time win in England. They're trying to get a big-time win at the lothouse this weekend against the Texans. They'll get a big-time win at Parkin' Law if that's where you want to play the Indianapolis Colts. I get that, and they know it's a freaking hard-ass league.

1:00:15So, you know, you get a win in international or on domestic soil. It don't matter.

1:00:20Pat McAfee:Well, make sure you get your wake-up call then whenever that starts, okay, because that's something else that happened to the Colts. That's at Boston Conner and at Ty Schmidt super pumped up about growing the game. Nine-year NFL vet sitting in one half of the hammer. Dad! Cowboy seat, Darius J. Butler is here. Yes, sir. What is that about? I don't like that one bit. The Colts are must-watch television. They just took the Chiefs to overtime on Sunday night.

1:00:41AQ Shipley:They did, and I'm interested to see if they are in or out of this shite division. Okay. That's coming up. See? Because that is the question. I know it's a moral victory, which I don't like moral victories. nine losses in a row. That's tough. So, yeah, I mean, it's hard to disagree with what Todd's saying right now. Okay, this does not need to be what this is right now. Honestly, I would say it's more so the commanders than it is the Colts. Thank you. For sure. I really would. Now, the Colts are a big part of that, but I think it's more so the commanders.

1:01:09Pat McAfee:Okay, so then it's not a big part. Oh, my God. What if that's Salsa's first win? It's international. Then you guys go 1-16. What is going on? But then you have the number one overall pick. Okay, let's continue to move on. Falcons out there or Jets out there. We have international football next Sunday morning. Yeah, we do. We have international football Sunday afternoon. Let's get excited about growing the game in these other countries, seeing these phenomenal athletes who are really good at what they do. Do we have a goofball altcast? No. Maybe like the Incredibles altcast or something like that?

1:01:41I hope so.

1:01:42Pat McAfee:I don't think we're doing any of that. And let's not bury any altcasts. No, I know. I like those. They're goofball, but I like them. Monsters ain't class here. Okay. With Sully. Yeah, Spongebob. Spongebob was awesome. Toy Story, Andy's room. Incredible. Yeah. Listen, we like them all. Love them. Grow the game. Grow the freaking game. It's all about eyeballs. This guy gets it. This guy gets it. Well said. Ladies and gentlemen, the Wolf of Wall Street, AQ Shipwreck. The Big Green Machine all cast. That was my favorite. You like the Big Green Machine all cast? I mean, my kids watched. That was the only time my kids have ever watched football with me.

1:02:18What is that? Yeah, I don't think. Love it so much you got the name wrong. Big City Greens, pal. There it is. Big City Greens? That's a snack? No, I think it's like a kid show.

1:02:28Pat McAfee:Oh, I don't know. What age would that? Orlovsky was definitely the commentator for sure. No, that was Monsters, Inc. Big City Greens was a hockey podcast. Wake up! Oh, my God. I'm like, so respect. Disgusting. You kind of sound like Albert Breer. Yeah, it was one of those. Was Albert Breer the one who attacked hockey? Who attacked hockey players? Yeah, Albert Breer. I love Albert Breer doing that. And I assume he got sent a lot of tweets about like, hey. Dipshit. Over a thousand, I believe. These guys are playing with like actual broken legs out there. They're playing 82 games and it's every single night.

1:03:04These guys are just getting it's ice.

1:03:07Pat McAfee:Chuck couldn't tie his own skates. He had a broken sternum and he was still playing scored. They tied his skates for him. Yeah. Picked his dead ass body up and said, go play hockey. He just skated out there all of a sudden the hockey players. I think football players would even agree because football players have hung out with hockey players as well. It's like hockey players are built different. They really are. Not all of them. There's some little, you know, in every sport. I think there's all. But I think there's a natural toughness that has to happen to play hockey. Like, even as a kid, you get through high school, college.

1:03:39Pat McAfee:If you make it to the NHL, I assume you've been through some, you know. Oh, yeah. Just even the little soft ones in comparison. They've definitely. Got to prove it.

1:03:50AQ Shipley:Yeah, they've had to get through. So we're just going unanimous? Hockey players are tougher than football players?

1:03:54Pat McAfee:No, I think we certainly have some representatives, but you've got to remember, like, I'm a football player.

1:03:58AQ Shipley:You're tough. I agree. Surgery four off-seas in a row.

1:04:03Pat McAfee:I did battle back through, and I made a Pro Bowl with a dislocated kneecap. That's why the Caleb thing was tough. Nobody talks about that.

1:04:09AQ Shipley:He's tough. He hasn't missed a game. He got sacked 68 times his rookie year.

1:04:13Pat McAfee:Yeah, so you tell us about what's toughness, what's perceived toughness. I'm going to say it. I think hockey players are tougher than football players. I think per capita. They play through more. I think they definitely play through more.

1:04:23AQ Shipley:I don't know. I mean, you know.

1:04:27Pat McAfee:For sure.

1:04:27AQ Shipley:No, I don't know, actually. They don't have to put out an injury report. Yeah, which is a whole other thing. Like, we don't even know who's hurt. But after the fact, like, that's part of the hockey thing in the playoffs. You know why they don't put out the injury report? Because they don't gamble as much? No, because they don't want guys on the other team targeting the guys who are injured, specifically where they're injured. Oh, like football.

1:04:45Pat McAfee:Love that. Yeah, but you know how they target over there? They got a weapon. They, you know. I don't want to see that Florida Packers. start around after this, Butch. Yeah, you're right. I didn't think about the weapon of a helmet. No, I'm not calling them soft, Gump. Sounds like you are. They're tough. Sounds like you're siding with Albert Breer is what it sounds like. Oh, you Canadians are so dramatic.

1:05:04AQ Shipley:I speak for myself, all right? I think it's pretty close. Football players and hockey players, pretty tough guys.

1:05:12Pat McAfee:So pointing that out, I think we have so many different varieties of bodies in football, like so many different varieties of positions. You know, like a quarterback human vastly different than nose tackle human. But I do think you have to be tough to play football. Like, I'm not saying you don't have to be tough to play football. But I think the hockey guys, and they got 82 games. Yeah, but I mean. And then two months of playoffs after that.

1:05:38AQ Shipley:Just think about a running back, just one game. Just a running back that gets 25 carries. So we'll say. And 20 pass reps. They got to sit and pass for take. Somebody just. So we'll go trenches. coaches, backers, that's who we would submit, right?

1:05:54Pat McAfee:You got to be pretty fucking tough to play quarterback, too. Yeah, especially Aaron. Yeah, I mean. He's getting this one as well. You're taking those big-time blindside shots.

1:06:03AQ Shipley:Think about, like, even guys that you wouldn't, like, you would look at Eli, man, and you wouldn't say, like, oh, tough guy. Like, guy didn't miss a start. Brett Favre. Yeah, get blasted routinely. So even, like, the pocket guys, like Ben Roethlisberger, Phillip Rivers, He played with an ACL. Left which he was playing with a broken leg getting carried down the field. Man, that's just –

1:06:21Pat McAfee:That type of stuff happens like every year for hockey. Yeah, they're tough. Yeah, I agree. I agree. But we're – you know what, Albert Breer tweeted, hockey players are tough and all, but let's not pretend the physicality of the two sports is comparable. It isn't. And I think that's because there is physicality every single play of football. There's at least five guys fist fighting with four or three guys every single play. Well, the other interesting thing, too, with football is you only play a week apart, right? So sometimes it takes guys five or six days to piece themselves back together just to play again.

1:06:54Pat McAfee:In football? I mean, in football, yeah. So the hockey people would argue. Yeah, we play back-to-back. We go back-to-back. I get that.

1:07:00AQ Shipley:Well, that would also say you can't play three games in a week in football. But if you were to put a hockey player over there, would they be able to? No. And that's just sports. Are these guys tougher than the troops? You know, why don't we throw them in there? It was just a bad tweet. I think Butts said it best.

1:07:19JJ Watt:I think they're both around the same. I think Breer went wrong saying it's not comparable. They're very clearly in the same realm of physicality.

1:07:28Pat McAfee:It's just so many games. Like so many games. And to miss a game in that particular sport, no matter who you are, it's like a gigantic ordeal. It's like you almost get questioned by the entire culture. And they still fist fight each other. It's also, there's just that lasting image of a guy taking a puck off the face and getting like 40 teeth knocked out and having a bunch of stitches and then coming back in like 20 minutes later and playing the rest of the game. Like, that shit's crazy. Hey, I like our sports. And then obviously, you know, boxing and MMA, pretty tough. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That was pretty physical.

1:07:59Pat McAfee:That was pretty physical. That's two, three fights a year, though. Right. Right. So there's a lot of recovery time, which we're not saying is necessarily an end-all, be-all, but it is certainly a part of the conversation. Joining us now is a guy who might have a say or two in this whole thing. Brother-in-law, Stanley Cup champion hockey player. Huge mitts. Huge. Some of the biggest mitts I've ever seen. And also, who's that center from Clemson? McClain? Eric? Oh, yeah. Yeah. That guy had frying pans. Those were abnormally large hands. I think if you were to shake his hands, you would say, the hell are they?

1:08:31Pat McAfee:This has got to be 6X gloves. That's what this has to be. Nonetheless, ladies and gentlemen, a guy who's going to talk about the toughness of hockey and football. champions in the family. He's a college football champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner. Ladies and gentlemen, A.J. Hawk. Your thoughts on the conversation we just had? I like it. It's an interesting conversation. I mean, I think they both are very, very tough. I think there's different kinds of toughness, too. Like, who is more mentally tough, hockey or football players? You tell me. I don't know. I truly don't know. I think that's the thing.

1:09:02Like, I ask, if I talk to hockey players, like, oh, man, this guy I saw on TV, he's the toughest guy alive. and then an NHL player would be like, no, he's not. He's soft as butter. Like, no, he's not. You know, they all have their own, like, opinions, I guess, and what they know from the inside.

1:09:16Pat McAfee:They do a lot of chirping. So when you talk about mental toughness, over there it is kind of just, like, accepted to say, like, terrible things, I think, to each other. Well, and that would go to the 82 game point with, like, the mental toughness where it's like, yeah, I have a broken hand, but I have a game tomorrow night still, so I'm going to go out and do it. Whereas when you have that weak recovery, like, I think that would give the edge to hockey players when it comes to mental. Well, mental toughness here, follow-up question, could be a counter. It's like so many games. So does every game matter?

1:09:41Pat McAfee:Do you even get like, you know, because for 17 games, every game, every play, every shift. That's what makes football special. That's what separates football from everything else. It's like there's so much riding on every single play in every game, really. Well, and that could go back into what you were saying is like the mental toughness it takes. Like if you're on like an 0-7 team and knowing like, hey, I kind of just got to keep going and doing everything. And like we're probably not going to make the playoffs next year. but you can't stop. You just have to keep going. So then in the hockey world, if you're on a 10 and 30 team and you're rolling into a very good team's ice, you're not just able to skate through that one.

1:10:18Pat McAfee:If someone wants to fight you, you have to show up there, I think. What we're saying is it sounds like – go ahead, AQ. I would argue, too, the fact that when you play three or four games in a week in hockey, the prize at the end of the work is the game. The hardest part mentally is the practice. It's the rehab. It's the Monday through Saturday in football, I think. So these guys have optional skates. I don't think there's a ton of practice during the season when it comes to hockey, but they get a prize every other day, right? Whereas, like, our prize is Sunday, and then you have five or six days of work.

1:10:51And in those five or six days of work, you're spending long extra hours, early mornings trying to get the knee and the ankle and everything back. And the hockey players are saying practice. Talk about the game.

1:11:00AQ Shipley:Gosh, those practices in mid-November when it's 13 degrees outside and you got to play outside that's because, ah.

1:11:08Pat McAfee:I'm watching you guys miserable as hell, you guys. I'm just trying to gas you guys up. Yeah, those cold games, that's another thing that they don't deal with, those zero-degree snow games. Hockey players don't deal with that type of stuff. But 84 games now, sorry, not just 82 games. We just got corrected. But they do have to deal with cement. In the skate. And walls. Well, sometimes cement do end up in the skates because the lads have been in. They got walls and they got ice. Yeah. You know, that's every single time you hit anything. We're worried about turf, which is certainly something. The tough thing it takes to sit there and block the goalie and all the stuff they're doing, trying to deflect.

1:11:45This guy is firing this thing, and it could hit me directly into the mouth every single game. That's tough.

1:11:50Pat McAfee:Hey, good on you, lads. But you have to remember, and I said this at the very beginning, and I would like to reiterate it. I count as a football player in this conversation, and hockey players will bring that up immediately. They will certainly start pointing at kickers and punters. So we apologize for that happening to you guys because of what you have to do. But it's certainly a part of the argument, I would say. But they definitely have a specific sect of hockey players that they would, if we were to really look into it, that would be in that same type of grouping as kickers and punters, especially the guys that don't fight.

1:12:19Like there are guys on every team that are just there to score goals that would be put into that.

1:12:24Pat McAfee:So we'd be fighting each other. So, like, whatever. You're a specialist. So that's a different group of, you know, we got Blake Groupie.

1:12:32AQ Shipley:Like, we're not going to point him and say, okay, this is the. . . But the hockey players are going to say. . . Where do you put the goalies?

1:12:36Pat McAfee:Hey, you got a Blake Groupie in football. Goalies are huge. Blake Groupie, incredibly tough. Yeah, exactly. And mentally tough. Unbelievable stuff. So just like if two football teams are going to fight, punters, kickers, snappers, goalies in hockey, they fight each other. You're saying there would be a group of hockey players that the kickers, punters, and speckers. Now, some of the punters now, you're talking 6 '3", 6 '4", 6 '5", guys. Tom Wilson sized. Yeah, and Tom Wilson's not fighting in this group. No. No, Tom Wilson has to fight the guy. Tom Wilson is representing hockey against the offensive linemen and such, Trent Williams.

1:13:10Pat McAfee:Uh-huh. Linval Joseph versus Tom Wilson. Not a good matchup. Yeah, is they on skates or are they on, you know? One round each. Yeah, I guess you would have to go on C and, frozen C and on land. Yeah, to really find out who gets sent to this guy. And like the playing injured thing, I just think of Thomas Davis with his arm looking like a football when he played in the Super Bowl against the Broncos. He broke his arm like two weeks before and it was sewn up. Joining us now, Super Bowl champion, might have a take or two on this. His brother, obviously, also in the NFL. He, fantastic on Monday Night Countdown and across the board on ESPN, Super Bowl champion Jason McCourty.

1:13:47Pat McAfee:Yay! Hi, J-Mac. You've heard us debating about this. where do you land? How do you feel about the toughness of the two particular groups of athletes from hockey and from football? You know, I mean, we obviously know I'm going with football. I heard Ty mention, imagine being 0-7. It just brought up nightmares of my one season in Cleveland. He's talking about 0-7. Imagine being 0-15 and it is completely gray outside. You're getting ready to go play the last game of the season in Pittsburgh. You're sick as hell. And your defensive coordinator, Greg Williams, says, don't even think about skipping out on this game.

1:14:26I'm like, but coach, we're not going to win. We have no shot. And it's two degrees outside. And you still have to go play that game. You're practicing on a grass field that is completely frozen. But for some reason, we're still outside. And we know we're not going to the playoffs. So mental toughness, even well beyond the physical toughness that it takes to play the sport.

1:14:47Pat McAfee:And that's just my story. There are many others just like me that have gone through the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions who have had to experience something like this. You a hockey guy? Do you watch hockey? No, I'm not a hockey guy. I've gone to a Predators game before at all. Okay. A little bit of a hockey guy. You should maybe get into hockey, good sport. there's not it's not many of us out there on the ice so I'm still trying to figure out my way in I wasn't introduced to hockey as a kid didn't know anyone that played so I never got into the sport I think it's cool to attend the games I don't know if I'm watching but D-Bud's probably the only guy I know that tweets about hockey of my friends hold on hold on what's going on here you're welcome Gary throw the game put me on the glass J-Mac pick a team will you please pick a team this NHL season Nashville alright Nick Saban owns that team now so there's a chance that they Nashville baby pick a different team will you try a different honestly love the Predators weird kind of name but love the Predators love Nashville love Coach Saban love all that stuff but we need you to have one with star power.

1:16:11Pat McAfee:We need you to be interested. We need you to stick with the sport. The sport is great. The sport is a great sport. Long season, you won't be able to watch every game. You'll just be able to keep up with it.

1:16:20AQ Shipley:Let's go to Panthers. Tough, physical, fast. We got another black guy. So we got Jonesy as well. Oh, yeah. What are we talking about here? I'm just saying, you heard what the hell he said. You don't see a lot of us. You thought he was saying fast guys? What did you think? I thought he meant just professional athletes

1:16:34Pat McAfee:because I was like, there's a lot of professional athletes out there. Us, me, AJ. him on the screen. I didn't know. I thought he was just talking about ex-professional athletes. Howard Arrangers. Devils. Can I go with one of them? Local team? Devils. Jackie Hughes. Yeah, there you go. Jacko? Yeah, we'll go with Jacko Hughes. That's an American hero there, Jack Hughes. Had the goal, obviously, to win it all. Indeed. I know him. Okay. Boom. Welcome to the Devils fan. Devil super fan. There we go. J-Mac loves hockey. Yep. Loves hockey. Biggest Devils fan I know. Okay, let's talk a little bit about football, shall we?

1:17:05Pat McAfee:Monday night, we got a chance to be there. Aaron Donald makes his massive return. Story of the game, Aaron Donald getting back into it has three tackles. Obviously, one tackle for loss. Huge goal line stand he's a part of with Naj with the running game. Obviously, the place goes crazy to see him back. Jackson Dart now, we are learning. Season-ending surgery to his knee. There was a lot of positive momentum, seemingly, that what our eyes saw was a nasty bend. Wasn't as bad. He was able to maybe bounce back or even get back into the game your storyline coming out of there giants dead like what what are you how do you kind of view season for both teams that we just saw on monday night yeah i'll start with the positive i thought the rams looked like the team that we anticipated them to be like they went to australia and just left their game in la they picked it back up and showed up for that game matthew stafford looked like the matthew stafford last year that won an mvp award How about that guy on the screen, Devontae Adams, 195 receiving yards.

1:18:03It looked like he had turned back the time as he was dominating any and everybody who tried to cover him and the Giants secondary. So that offense got clicking. What I was extremely impressed by was Chris Shula and the Rams defense. It felt like that first game against the 49ers, they were playing catch up the entire game. And you're looking out there and you're saying, well, where's Miles Garrett? Where are all these guys? Where's Trent McDuffie, Jalen Watson? And I felt like watching them Monday night, this is what I imagined the scheme would look like. McDuffie, man-to-man, following the best teams were our receiver.

1:18:36They were sending five guys at Jameis Winston. He had no time to throw the football. It was just a dominant performance by them on the offense and defensive side of the ball, regardless of who was playing quarterback for the Giants. They just looked like a team that could contend for a Super Bowl. And on the other side for the Giants, man, I flew from Jersey. So I was on the plane with Giants fans who said they got tickets on Friday because they were surprised at how well the team was doing. And it was an opportunity to go to L.A. There was so much excitement with the Giants. I think specifically the Eagles and Cowboys haven't looked that great.

1:19:10So the Giants going into week two. Why can't we compete for the division without Jackson? Dar, I just don't see it. You spend your entire offseason. You bring in a head coach that I'm sure went went there because of Jackson. Dart, you bring over Matt Nagy, Greg Roman, Brian Callahan, all of these offensive minds to build an offense around that guy who is completely different than Jameis Winston, who's now going to try to come in. And they're going to have to change the offense to fit Jameis and see what they can do with it.

1:19:38Pat McAfee:Yeah. And, you know, obviously the conversation immediately goes to, are they going to trade for a quarterback now because of how Jameis looked in that first week? Once again, backup quarterback, not an easy position. But the reason why Jameis is there is because he should be a good backup quarterback. Maybe against the Rams defense, nobody was going to look good that particular evening. So we'll see what Jameis can do for the Giants going forward. Trade-wise, though, there are some names out there that have been available, allegedly, over the last couple weeks around the league, and especially with the style in which they play.

1:20:07Pat McAfee:And Harbaugh's over there. He's J.J. McCarthy on the move. He's J.J. You know, there's a guy here in Indianapolis, Anthony Richardson. Would he not be able to fit the mold of what they could potentially look for? Would Greg Roman be able to design a run game, around Anthony Richardson? Definitely, from our understanding. Could he complete the passes? Who knows? If they bring somebody in, how much does that change? And what does that say about the rest of the season, you think? Like, what are our expectations? You think you flew over to L.A. with the fans that were like, hey, let's chance to go to L.A., we're good.

1:20:35Pat McAfee:Then you fly back with the fans. They're like, another year of being asked. Is that what you experienced with him? No doubt about it. You didn't even see any jerseys on the plane ride home. I feel like people just put them in a suitcase. And it was just like, I don't even want anyone to know. So that's how devastated we are going back to the New York, New Jersey area. The Anthony Richardson of it is interesting. I was on with Jordan Rodgers this morning. He mentioned Joe Milton coming over from the Cowboys practice squad. Wouldn't have to give up a ton to get him. And he has some attributes that could help.

1:21:03The question you have to ask yourself at this point in the season now, you're getting ready to go into week three. So say they get a trade going next week. And let's just use Anthony Richardson for an example. How fast can he come in, learn this offense, be able to operate this offense, and also do it at a higher level than Jameis Winston, who's been there since all offseason, April on, learning and mastering this offense. I think that's the challenge. Like, the quarterback has to know it all. So for Anthony Richardson, can you get in? Yes, the skill set, being able to run the ball, having a cannon of an arm, I just don't know that you can pick up an offense that fast to be able to go out there and execute it and do it better.

1:21:41Pat McAfee:AQ just wrote on his dry erase board, Tyrod Taylor might potentially be a good option. No, no, no, no, no. Jordan Love might get killed this year. with that Packers O-line, they're not going to trade him. He used to play in Baltimore for John Harbaugh. He was kind of that world. Getting a first-round pick for him. He might be starting for the Packers week five. All right, okay. So there's a lot of those situations as well. Snoop Huntley. All right, let's pivot away from Monday night in that situation. AJ has a question for you, J-Mac. Yeah, J-Mac, the Cincinnati Bengals come out to a hot start, which they have not had in the past few years.

1:22:09I guess, do you think they are for real? And what's so different about their defense? We know that Dexter Lawrence has come in and made a huge impact, but what do you see when you watch this Bengals team who will be taking on the Steelers this Sunday. Man, I love what I've seen from Cincy. I think they're going to be in that AFC conversation when it comes to who's going to be representing in the Super Bowl. What I've loved about their defense, they've been fast and they've been physical. And you mentioned Dexter Lawrence. It starts with him up front, like him just moving people out of the way.

1:22:37It sets the tone for your defense. But if you go back and look at them against Houston, there's different opportunities and chances where they're lined up in blitz zero, an all-out blitz everybody's at the line of scrimmage and the dbs are playing off i just think the mentality of the defense has gone from a year ago where joe burrow and that offense is so prolific and it's almost like they've been dying a slow death on defense as teams have moved the ball up and down it's like well maybe we'll try to just force them to kick three now they look like in an aggressive attacking style defense and they're going after you and i think that's a big part of when you go out in free agency, not only is it about signing guys, but it's about signing the right veterans.

1:23:19Everybody that they brought in has made an impact. Jonathan Allen, Dexter Lawrence, Boye Mafé, Brian Cook, all of those guys have made plays two weeks through the season, and it just changes your complete defense, and they have guys on the outside that can cover. DJ Turner is one of the best corners in the league. He's following guys, shadowing, and they're showing you through the first two weeks. I mean, they completely shut Houston's offense down. They could not run the football at all against them.

1:23:45Pat McAfee:Okay. So on that note about running against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hembo stat, running backs totaled 2 ,031 rush yards versus Cincinnati last year. That's the most in the NFL. The Bengals have only allowed 78 through the first two games of the season. Okay. So they are obviously different. Dexter Lawrence, and you talk about a boy coming in and multiple other signings. It's like Dexter Lawrence, as soon as he got there, felt as if he was now the voice of the team. I mean, he was, there was moments of him chit-chatting to Joe Burrow when he sat down and did his press conference. It felt like he was very excited to kind of represent Cincinnati.

1:24:15Pat McAfee:And I think obviously anybody that's been around him, they love this guy. So whenever you talk about changing an identity, changing a culture, and you talk about bringing in the right guys that fit, it's like, it feels like Dexter Lawrence would fit in anywhere. And Cincinnati is lucky as hell that that happened to be the place that he ended up going to. Trey Hendrickson, they let walk out the building and stay in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens. So you wonder if they worse, sacrificing some on defense. It's been a complete opposite over there. Good for Cincy, man. Unbelievable. Good for Cincy.

1:24:42Pat McAfee:Indoor practice facility, right? We have an indoor practice field over there? Yeah. Yeah, bubble. Oh, yeah. It's just a bubble, but still inside, at least getting to do their practice. Jamar Chase just went crazy. Two touchdowns this past week. T. Higgins going insane. Joe Burrow still healthy, even though there was a little bit of a worry there or a scare there. Seems like he's okay. Defense playing good. Special team Teams is good. Is Cincinnati all the way back? Is this the Cincinnati that we potentially envision from years ago whenever Zach and Joey B got together? Can they stay healthy? That's the only question.

1:25:16Pat McAfee:We said that about Jackson Dart too, J-Mac. It's like can Jackson Dart stay healthy with the way he plays? Unfortunate hit. It wasn't his fault in that case. Can Joe Burrow stay healthy? That's the entire question for the Cincinnati Bengals. Can they protect his ass? We shall see. We shall see. Let's stay in the AFC North. Cincinnati Bengals have a big one against Pittsburgh Steelers. Go ahead, Conman. Yeah, J-Mac with the Steelers. The biggest conversation right now is Joey Porter Jr. on that defense. It sounds as though, or at least reports are saying, that he might be making his debut this Sunday off the couch against Jamar Chase and T.

1:25:49Higgins. What do you see as that situation kind of unfolds? Do you think he will be back? Do you think that it's probably smart maybe to not go up against Jamar and T. Higgins your first game back with no experience before this game? Do you see teams reaching out if the Steelers continue to kind of go down this path of not being able to score any points? Yeah, I think for me, if you're reaching out as a team, you're reaching out to his agent first. You want to know what is the number that's going to get a deal done because if you're going to make a trade for Joey Porter Jr., you're going to want to ink him to a long-term deal and one that both sides are going to be happy with.

1:26:25I've got to imagine if those conversations haven't already been had, he's going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. So at some point, you do got to get out there on the field because if you're going to go into free agency, you need to prove that you can go out there and be that guy. Why not go out against Cincinnati and let that be the first game and go show them against two of the best in the league, T. Higgins and Jamar Chase, that you can get the job done. So I think that would be a boost to the Steelers' secondary. But in reality, the defense isn't the issue right now. Pittsburgh, they can't score any damn points on the offensive side of the ball, and it looks like pulling teeth whenever they try to throw the ball beyond 10 yards down the field.

1:27:02So, to me, that's been more of the struggle than what's gone on on the defensive side of the ball.

1:27:06Pat McAfee:Whoa, J-Mac. Let's head to Hammer. Die. Tide. Tone, what do you think about J-Mac's breakdown of the Pittsburgh Steelers? And where do the Yinzers stand on it at this moment? Everything he said was exactly correct, obviously, because it's J-Mac saying it. The offense has been horrendous. The offensive line has been turnstiles. And the defense has not been a problem at all. So, yeah, I think everything's great. and the Steelers fans very, very mad at the head coach and the offense, and they love Patrick Graham, the D.C., and everything on the defense's side of the ball. So, yeah, it's perfect. Yeah, Mike McCarthy, there have been some A.I.

1:27:40Pat McAfee:edits of him with different things on his body, head, and face.

1:27:44AQ Shipley:Did you laugh at him, though? Nope. Yes. Are you sure? I didn't see those. I did not.

1:27:49Pat McAfee:Me neither. I mean, they're funny. If stuff's so funny on the Internet, I'm going to laugh at it, whether it's A.I. or not. Not me. I don't laugh at any of it. J-Mac does, though. I can already tell. This guy's laughing at AI images on the internet. I'm waiting for somebody to send me these images. I haven't seen them yet. Smart. Stay in that world, bro. Stay in that world. Because once one opens up, guess what your algo says. Here we go. This one looks kind of real, but you'll understand it's not. They love it. Just wait. The beginning looks real, and then boom, there's something coming at the end.

1:28:19Pat McAfee:Can't be laughing at him, though. No. Even if it's the most ridiculous, absurd. Yeah, pretty funny. Never going to happen in the history of – and I'm not talking about the big one. There's others that have obviously hit the internet ground. Yeah, well, that one. I mean, Arch, they took his legs from – the guy can't even laugh anymore. Arch, we all understand Arch is in a situation now where he's probably never going to talk ever again to anybody. But also, I think Arch knows that that was – the risk-reward of that particular answer, just I don't – you know, in the time in which we live right now, not good.

1:28:54Pat McAfee:and I appreciate Holly coming out and saying her side and also supporting Arch but you know there's uh we're in a weird time right now we're in a very weird time where there's access to a lot of very powerful things to basically everybody you know I forget who had the joke there was somebody who um Rodney Carrington maybe and he uh he basically talks about two-star people in a five-star hotel you know and uh what happens and what you know those types of people he was talking about himself where they let him into and just the way he views things and how he utilizes things versus how the other people do i think we got that with ai right now we can all kind of just tap in there and i'll tell you what some of us just aren't supposed to have that type of access you know and we're at a time and stage where everybody can say whatever they want and i've been on the receiving end of a lot of these things mike mccarthy's already there as well yeah yeah yeah yinzers are pretty talented down there you know they got good jokes and they got access to make full feature films.

1:29:54Pat McAfee:That's an interesting time to be alive for Mike McCarthy. He's just got to lock in and play a little bit of offense.

1:29:59AQ Shipley:Big Mike will figure it out. Yes, he certainly will. AQ's told us. He set our expectations for the Steelers offensive line coming into the season. I said it. Everybody called me a big dumb dipshit when I said Steelers offensive line has me concerned. Well, how they look. Well, they could have been the best offensive line in the league. You still would have said that. Yeah, because you hate Pittsburgh.

1:30:18Pat McAfee:Because you hate Pittsburgh even though you're from there. I don't. Joe Donato's from your same hometown, your same high school, the greatest weather meteorologist in the history of Earth, and you just basically said, I don't even know who that is. It's like you have a disrespect for the city in which you're talking. I just watched tape. That's it. The tape speaks for itself. That's what I did. All right. Well, it seems like you're – Nothing to do with the city. Turn on DiNardo's tape then. Yeah, turn on DiNardo's tape. You didn't miss one time on the Doppler. That day I went to golf, he missed.

1:30:46Pat McAfee:Okay, so one time Joe DiNardo said – Did you know about DiNardo? J-Mac, do you know who Joe DiNardo is? No. I thought you were a pretty well-versed man. I thought you would have known this type of stuff. I thought you would have known this. Somebody learn me. Teach me. Who am I missing out on? Joe DiNardo. I say he created the Doppler, but I don't know if that's actually true. I just know that he read it better than anybody. Like if Michael Jordan was a weatherman. Yeah, he was. Exactly. Serena Williams, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan. There it is. Miss you, Joe. Joe DiNardo on the Doppler. Thank you, Joe.

1:31:20Pat McAfee:This is the man. He died recently. He did not. He died in 2018. But it does feel like just yesterday when we were listening to him. Never. Kind of do it all. We appreciate Joe DiNardo. Shout out to Joe. Shout out. Well said. Finally. Yeah. Joe said it would, and it did. I mean, that's what we grew up doing. And this guy can't even show him respect. He went to the same high school as the guy. So whenever you talk about AQ talking about Pittsburgh, AQ has a little bit of an issue kind of giving credit to his hometown, which we don't love. Not one bit. No. Not one bit. I love Pittsburgh. I've been back more in the last year and a half than in the last 15 years combined.

1:31:57I'm back.

1:31:58Pat McAfee:Okay. I like that. Good news. So you did hate it before. Yes. It was J-Mac. Good call, J-Mac. J-Mac, see, you mentioned about Cleveland being gray, right? That's the world I grew up in. That's the world I know. And so when I moved to Arizona, it's a lot easier to stay in the sun. Yeah, Pittsburgh. A lot easier to stay in the sun. I believe Pittsburgh actually, a stat came out, has the most amount of rainy days. in the year than anywhere else. Shout out, Joe. Shout out. I'll tell you what, maybe Joe did have a little bit of fishing with dynamite type situation happening with Pittsburgh. You know, like, it's going to rain.

1:32:30Pat McAfee:It's like probably a pretty good call, Pittsburgh. It is. Joe knew it. Your schedule. Joe freaking knew it. Joe knew it. Play the games they put on your schedule, brother. All right, I appreciate Joe doing that. Okay, speaking of the games on the schedule, there's some teams that have a long shot. J-Mac, we talked about this on Monday Night Countdown. A lot of people talked about it on Sunday. Teams that are 0-2, only three Super Bowl winners in the history of ball. Teams that are 2-0, I think it's over 60 % of the Super Bowl champions start 2-0. So it is normal for a team to come in, play good at the beginning of the season, and finish the season well.

1:33:02Pat McAfee:But some of these 0-2 teams have been able to go on a run in the past. We were involved in one of them, D.

1:33:06AQ Shipley:Yeah, J-Mac, even Joe couldn't have forecast at least these four teams, the Bucs, the Texans, the Chargers, and my Colts being 0-2. Out of those four, because I'm not even going to mention the other four, out of those four, who do you think can get hot and go on a run? I'm going to look at Houston to get hot at 0-2 to go on a run. They were 0-3 last year, a season ago. And as much as I love you guys, Indianapolis Colts, and I know there's been some type of simulations that have said that Indianapolis Colts have a great chance at winning the Super Bowl is not looking likely when you look at some of those numbers that Pat just read off.

1:33:41But if I'm looking at a team, I'm going to go with Houston because I'm a believer. That defense looked like themselves against the Bengals. The offense without Nico Collins is just missing a lot. They've got to figure out how to run the ball. But to me, they have all the talent to be able to do it right there in the building. So if I'm picking one, I'm going with the Texans.

1:34:01Pat McAfee:Okay, so yeah, AJ asked to follow up there because in the middle you talked about AI. What are you referring to with this? Did DeFlo put something out? Yeah, just one of my colleagues on Countdown just had a ton of faith in the Indianapolis Colts. and AI told them, like, you should have that faith because the Colts not only are going to the Super Bowl, they're going to win the Super Bowl. So I think when you see things of that nature, it's hard to forecast that you're going to end up in L.A. hoisting a Lombardi with an 0-2 start. So, I mean, they played tough Sunday night. It was a good game, but just the result of the game, nonetheless, was a no.

1:34:38Pat McAfee:Yeah, and the result certainly matters. And I like whoever that was that was sending into the group, just all the AI simulations. Fine gentleman. Thank you. That's not said a lot about that guy publicly by a lot of people, especially in this profession. So thank you for saying that, and thank you to whoever that was that was sending in not only these two, okay, simulations. There was a Madden one, I believe, as well. Sure, yes. I mean, every fake football thing was telling me that the Colts – sorry, I was the guy that was doing this in the chat. I just kind of outed myself there. Every fake football thing that has a super brain was telling me that the Colts are going to be good.

1:35:12Pat McAfee:And that's why I was a happy season ticket holder just a couple weeks ago. You know, I was finding a lot of faith. Then the Baltimore Ravens do what the Baltimore Ravens do. Then they lose to the Saints at home next week. It's like, well, maybe we're not good. But then, you know, we take the Chiefs to the brink. We get to overtime. Then with three minutes left, we kick a field goal, knowing that Patrick Mahomes is on the other side. And inevitably, I think everybody on earth knew what was about to happen. I think, I assume if you would have asked any of these AIs that simulated the season what was going to happen, if you give Patrick Mahomes only having to get in the field goal range with Harrison Bucker's leg with three minutes left to win a game at home on Sunday night football, I think the AI simulation would say, yeah, he's probably going to be able to do that.

1:35:52Pat McAfee:Now, Shane Steichen had to witness that in real time and learn about it, but yeah. Three teams won the Super Bowl, started out in two. Three teams. 16 % though, since the expanded playoff era, have made it to the playoffs. So that's a lot more than zero, obviously. 16 % is a lot more than zero. and me and D-Bot have been a part of a team that started 0-2 and then made it to the playoffs. Yep. Now, let's make it to the playoffs. What we're looking for after we pay quarterback, running back, DB, wide receiver, offensive line, kicker, I think we paid. Two firsts for a corner. Yeah.

1:36:27AQ Shipley:I'd be happy with that this year. I think he would be pretty happy.

1:36:30Pat McAfee:We're nowhere near a rebuild phase at all. Like, we are so deep in this. Hey, second contracts, a lot of guys. I like our guys. Yeah, you got like four years of really bad, bad fanhood. And then the Colts are on the up and up, baby. J-Mac, this is the way everybody's been talking. So I appreciate you hyping me up on a regular basis because we got Joe DiNardo finally getting acknowledgement, it sounds like. Yeah. Speaking of acknowledgement, I was on that 0-2 team, too. I was starting at center. Were you starting? I didn't know they let you play. Yeah, yeah, I was starting. I was starting. We lost to the Eagles week, too, at home.

1:37:05Really? Oh, Monday night. Yeah.

1:37:08AQ Shipley:I don't remember that. Yeah, I appreciate that acknowledgement. Speaking of acknowledgement.

1:37:14Pat McAfee:Hey, always count it out, AQ. That was cool, man. Always count it. Yeah, absolutely down there. Yeah. Now you guys have the same record as my Titans. Don't do that. Okay, you know what? Do you want to be a part of this segment? Scarlet Knights, too. Do you want to be a part of this segment right now? Oh, people, don't do that. I think they're a three. Yeah. Oh, they're a three. Hey, what's the point differential for that one? I don't know. Rumor has it if they lose this week, the Big Ten's kicking them out, saying get the hell out of here. Oh, you guys like nothing? No, we just – big game hunting.

1:37:43We'll take you. We want Notre Dame.

1:37:45Pat McAfee:You want West Virginia in the Big Ten? I don't think you want that bad. I want all the East Coast teams back in there. Yeah. Big Ten wouldn't let West Virginia in for the same reason, allegedly, the SEC wouldn't let West Virginia in and the ACC. And I don't know if that's changed at all, but I hope that our academic standards are a little bit higher and maybe a little bit more desirable for some of these conferences. Got to be. I didn't like that. I called commissioner directly, both of them. Soft, not letting West Virginia in, making us fucking fly across the country to go play against these.

1:38:15Pat McAfee:Like, we just can't do what you guys do academically in our conference. Okay, that's quite a precedent. I'm like, we'll work on it, thanks. Kids are going to class now, I heard. It's good. It's a big deal. It's a good one. We would pound the big team. Could you imagine us playing Rutgers right now? It would be 1 ,000 to nothing, just like the good old days. What's that? I mean, Rutgers, you singled out one team. There's plenty of teams in the Big Ten to choose from. We're not worried about any of them. Northwestern. Northwestern, no problem. That Penn State game went well a couple years ago. No, you don't want that smoke, brother.

1:38:46Pat McAfee:There was a rain delay in the Penn State game. That's right. If you do recall, you guys had all the access to all the big money stuff at that time that we didn't have access to. That's right. It was a two-hour rain delay. You guys pounded us afterwards. And I'll tell you what. I'd love it. I'd welcome the challenge. Welcome it. With glee. We need a couple more years to build up our bigs. Okay? Give us a couple. We got true freshmen starting an offensive line for us right now. That's fine. And they might be freshmen All-Americans. Guess what Iowa does? They reload every year. It doesn't matter who the fuck you guys get.

1:39:17We're going to have five old linemen, two of them returning All-Americans. Do you have that this year? Do you have that this year? Yeah, we do. We do. Two preseason, first-team All-Americans on the offensive line. You know, we kind of just reload, rebuild every single year. So, again. But you guys never get – because you don't care about academics. We do care about academics now more than ever. You know, Penn State does. We do. Illinois does. You know, Ohio State does. Everybody in the big teams.

1:39:44Pat McAfee:Ren Baker, okay, Mr. Michael Benson, president of West Virginia, and A.D. Ren Baker are getting our academics up to where they need to be. They're already there, okay? Quarterback Michael Hawkins, Jr., from my understanding, has a 5.0 GPA. I don't doubt that. 5.0. Yeah, he's even better than a 4-0. I don't doubt that. Wow. Thank you. Offense alignment, Kevin. Kevin Brown. Yeah. 4-4 or something like that, GPA. I don't even know how these guys are getting up above 4. I thought that was straight A's. Our guys are super geniuses going to all the classes. And Rutgers, they're not going to class. They're not going to practice.

1:40:19Pat McAfee:They're not playing the games. You let them in the big thing. Well, we were trying to grab the New York market, and I think now we know. Not a great idea. Get them out. Okay, let's – oh, Michael Hawkins Jr. has been named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week. Wow. Another dub for West Virginia. And he's doing it in a classroom. Let's go. That's right. And he's doing it in a classroom, J-Mac. That's what we got going on here. J-Mac has to do another show here in 17 minutes. He's on Big Day with Big Shrags breaking down all of the big plays. J-Mac, we have a segment here that we launched last week that we were wondering if you would like to be a part of the second annual.

1:40:59I would love to.

1:41:00Pat McAfee:Okay. The segment is called the shite division. In the NFL, there's obviously four in NFC, four in AFC. They come together, 32-team, Super League, the NFL. We added one division. It's going to be called the shite division. Now, you can get promoted out of it, and you can get relegated into it. You can live in it forever. There has been some things that we have kind of created. For instance, if you lose to a shite team and you haven't won yet, guess where you're headed? To the shite division. You can work your way out of the shite division, which is a big deal. This is last week's shite division.

1:41:36Pat McAfee:We'll have you reminded. AFC-NFC shite division of football. At the top of it, the leaders in the clubhouse. The shittiest team in the NFL after week one, Cleveland Browns. Then your Tennessee Titans, the Indianapolis Colts, and then the Los Angeles Rams because of the egg that they laid in Australia that they're probably not even going to count as a game, whenever it's all said and done. J-Mac, any disagreement after week one on that shite division as you're getting introduced to this segment in real time? No, no disagreements there. Those teams stunk it up in week one, so I would agree. Okay, so let's go to this week's shite division.

1:42:11Pat McAfee:Okay. There's promotion, there's relegation, and there's a team that might call this place home for the foreseeable future. Yeah. New leader in the clubhouse, shiniest team in the league. Congratulations to Atlanta Falcons. Wow. Good work. They earned this one. They've earned this one. Now, Michael Penix, starting at quarterback, Kevin Stefanski, is praying to the football gods that this guy can play quarterback in his system. He has not voted well on the football field as a head coach and an offense coordinator over the last couple of years. Cleveland went terrible. This is going terrible. Is Penix the guy?

1:42:45Pat McAfee:We shall see. But we do know they're officially a part of the shite division, Conman. Yeah, unbelievable. And if anything, any team we've seen so far, they've got the guys to do it. Bijan, Drake, Kyle Pitts, all that. But from what we've seen thus far, I expect Stefanski to be shitfanski for the rest of the year by chance in the AFC and NFC shite division. Well, especially Atlanta Twitter. Atlanta Twitter is... That is not in the shite division. No, they are elite, elite. Yeah. Especially in this particular situation. J-Mac, any disagreement with the Atlanta Falcons being the ass-lanta Falcons, if you will?

1:43:18If you've watched any of their games, then you are 100 % in agreement with the Atlanta Falcons being there. But, hey, Falcons fans, have some hope. Michael Pennings Jr., just have some hope. That's the only thing you can do right now with what you've put on film the first two weeks.

1:43:33Pat McAfee:We'll have to see whenever we unveil the next three teams in the shite division. But talking about having hope, there might be a wholesale change of this week's shite division versus last week's shite. Really? Maybe. Maybe have some hope. The next team is a team that might also call this home for the rest of the season. We shall see. Congratulations. Welcome back to the shite division, Miami Dolphins. Wow. Hey, good job. Gumpy, AFC East, representing in the shite division. What's going on down there in South Florida? We survived week one. We're going to live here for probably the next 16 games, I imagine, the way things are going.

1:44:08Pat McAfee:Malik Willis, though, we still like, right? Yeah, he can move. The offensive line, Austin Jackson might be one of the worst offensive linemen in the league. He's kind of just letting anybody get to the quarterback. But there's some good signs on defense. Dante Trader, yeah, Rodriguez has been good. Zach Seeler, one of our highest paid players. I'm a little worried about him. Might be a little long in the tooth. Okay, so I didn't know we were going to get PFF breakdown from Gumby there. I thought he was just going to be pretty bummed out about the Miami Dolphins being in the shite division. But I think he probably echoes the sentiment of a lot of Dolphin fam community.

1:44:40Pat McAfee:They are also solid on the internet. Let's go to the third team announced after week two in the AFC-NFC shite division. Congrats to the Chargers. Never would have guessed this, J-Mac. Never would have guessed this with McDaniel coming over. It's a Jim Harbaugh team. This is the first time Jim Harbaugh has been 0-2 since like 2001 or something when he was a backup quarterback for the Chargers. Correct. So this is very rare, very unexpected. I mean, that's the shite division in a nutshell. You never know who's going to end up there, J-Mac. You never know. I mean, the Chargers almost could be at the top because they've lost to two teams that you fully expected to own the shite division this entire season and the Cardinals and the Raiders.

1:45:19Those are both the teams. And now you look at their schedule over the next month, they're not going anywhere. They have a long stay right here in this division. Okay.

1:45:29Pat McAfee:That's a good point. I didn't know that you would potentially want to shake up the shite rankings a little bit here immediately, but I guess we do have to look into it. I guess the point differential for them being a favored team in the first two weeks is like the worst in the history of the NFL or something like that with what they're expected to do versus what they did. But I still have faith they'll be able to figure it out over there and not live here forever. even though their schedule looks to be quite damning. The Chargers are in the worst cover margin, minus 39 of any team favored in each of their first two games since the 2003 Eagles.

1:45:58Pat McAfee:Yikes. Just an absolute ass-beating when nobody was expecting it. Sportsbooks can be wrong every once in a while, but it feels like maybe the Chargers are wrong across the board. They're in the shite division, not the number one ranked shiteiest team. Who's the fourth team that's going to be making it in this week? It is, congratulations, Tampa Bay Buckingham. Now, they lost to the shite-iest team from last week's shite division. So that automatically sends you into the shite division. That is correct. Is how we kind of started working that. AJ, any disagreements with the shite division from this particular week, even if it's a shake-up in the shite-ier rankings?

1:46:33No, I actually kind of agree with the rankings, one through four here. The Bucs are a bit surprising. I guess I know the Colts were held out of this because they had a moral victory, technically against the Kansas City Chiefs, which I guess there is such a thing as moral victories when it comes to raking the shite division to keep you out of it. But let's see which one of these teams can maybe climb out of the cellar this week. I don't know. The Falcons have a big game, what, Thursday night with Pennix.

1:46:55Pat McAfee:Yeah, clean sweep from last week's shite division. And that's, you know, we took it from the European soccer leagues. You should be able to move up and move down. Some people might be living here, and for their fan bases, we say sorry. That's absolute shite! Congratulations to Jake Pierce. He's the one who got it right first on X. Hashtag program, shite division. He didn't have them in the order, though, which we will be looking for next week. Because it is, at the top, is the shittiest. That's a leader in the clubhouse for worst football team in our eyes. And then you go down. He went alphabetical.

1:47:30Pat McAfee:Yes, exactly. And maybe he got a little bit of assistance from an internet source. Also might have thought that the shittiest goes on the bottom because that is the exact reverse order of what we have. So nonetheless, he gets a win because we did not clarify that. But in future weeks, we will be looking for the shittiest team at the top. And then follow suit down there. Congrats to Jake. We will send you an autographed, probably NFL flag football. You son of a bitch. It's a good ball. It's the perfect tailgate ball. Just would like to let everybody know. I don't know if these are for sale anywhere.

1:48:06Pat McAfee:They should be selling these. Great ball. This is the ball. You can kick it, you can punt it, you can throw it, you can spin it, and it can survive if you happen to give it into the cement or house or something like that. J-Mac, that was the shite division. Any disagreements out of you? No disagreements. I'm just happy the Tennessee Titans, they leveled up and they got out of the shite division. That's what I was hoping for. As the last team came up, I had my fingers crossed outside of the screen and the fact that the Titans are not in it because they almost beat the Philadelphia Eagles. as the most important thing about the shite division this week.

1:48:39Pat McAfee:Colts almost beat the Chiefs. Moral victory. Big moral victory program. Well, no, no, no. No, no, no. This is determining who's the worst. In the shite division, that's all they have is moral victories, okay? We can't just completely remove those unless you're the Cleveland Browns. That's valid. Yeah, they got out of there somehow, some way. All right, good luck on big day with Big Schrags breaking down all the big plays. That's Monday Night Countdown and ESPN Pundit, J-Max. Okay, before we get out of here, I think we do got to do something that we started last week that made me a smarter football fan.

1:49:10Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to dive into D-Butt's situational report.

1:49:17Pat McAfee:Now, D-Butt looks a lot of pizzazz in this particular photo. Obviously looks dialed in, ready for a cocktail event or an investigation into something we need to know. This week's situational report, D-Butt, revolves around what and whom?

1:49:31AQ Shipley:This week is about the money down. It's about third down, and when you talk about the money down, you got to look at the guy making all the damn money. Big-time game record, JSN, Jackson, Smith, and Jigba. He is the third down king, as you see on the bottom. And as a defense, you know where the ball is going. So I would like a little more adjustments, but we'll see how the Cardinals play it here. You can let it roll, Foxy. Right now, you can see one, two. So Jackson, Smith, and Jigba is lined up at the number two receiver spot. He's in a slot, so he's matched up on Buda Baker. Not a matchup you want.

1:50:01AQ Shipley:I don't care who you are. Corners don't want this matchup. You definitely don't want this matchup as a safety. The adjustments I'm talking about, you're on that island. You want to keep that leverage. The only help you have is that potential safety in between the hashes. He's far away. JSN, he knows the leverage. He's going to beat it. Gets outside and comes back down towards the line of scrimmage also to protect his quarterback. Gets the first down. Moves the chain in that red zone. Great job. I would just like to see some more adjustments by this. Who's the defensive coordinator out there? I know you know.

1:50:28Ty, you know who this is? Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, it is former WWE superstar Madcap Moss, who, if you remember, used to be one of Happy Corbin's goons. I believe his brother is the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals.

1:50:41Pat McAfee:Madcap's brother is the DC of the Cardinals? I believe so. What's his name? Nick Madcap Moss, right? That's right. Okay. Nick Rollis. Nick Rollis. Okay. Close.

1:50:51AQ Shipley:I'd like to see more adjustments. As a defense, you want more tools that you'd be able to adjust, maybe double-team JSN. Here is right here, another third and seven, you know, kind of right out the fringe area, high red zone area. Now he's lined up at number one. The Cardinals decide to bring pressure, which I don't mind. You're bringing pressure down here at the bottom of the screen. Drew Locke did a great job. Obviously, we're talking about JSN, but it starts with the quarterback handling pressure, knowing where to go with the ball, kind of fading away from it. And once again, you have three underneath, three deep.

1:51:20AQ Shipley:So you only have six guys in coverage when you're sending five on the pressure. And once again, JSN is going to get to the spot just a press out route. away from the safety. Once you see that middle close, you know you got one-on-ones on the outside. Find number 11. Make a throw off your back foot with a free hit on your face. Big time throw by Drew Locke. Now, let's get to this red area. Money down once again. Now, when you get kind of third downs down here, it's either going to be all-out pressure or all-out coverage. The Cardinals decide to go all-out pressure. Safety quarterback, you identify that safety.

1:51:51AQ Shipley:Wingard, he's in the middle of the field right now. Once this, okay, send that motion out. Boom. Now I got pressure. I know I'm going to my one-on-one. Nobody's in the middle of the field. Beat the leverage once again. Give up the slant as a corner. Don't love that. That's a big thing down here. Keep your inside leverage if you don't have help. He makes a great throw over the defensive tackle. And then the last touchdown. We saw the big play. AQ mentioned it. That was the second touchdown. This was the third one. Third and six once again. Now you have JSN at the number three spot. And we're going to go zone coverage, right?

1:52:21AQ Shipley:So now as a quarterback, you've got to beat these zone defenders, not only the deep ones but the underneath defenders. Mack Wilson having a pretty good year, and I think he had a pretty good drop here right in the middle of the defense. Once again, Drew Locke does a great job standing in the pocket. It's a good pocket. JSN, he's lined up now with the safety. Buda Baker, once again, he's outside. You're going to wide him just a little bit, run this skinny post, and now Locke has to beat that free defender, and he does with an absolute dart. So, JSN has been the best wide receiver in ball on third down, and Drew Locke has been tremendous on third down as well.

1:52:54AQ Shipley:He was seven of nine on the money down passing this week. So, big kudos to number two. Obviously, Sam Donald's back, but he's done a great job keeping that ship steady. Seahawks are up to 12 wins in a row now.

1:53:06Pat McAfee:Yeah, great situational report there. Third down, obviously, massively important. A safety blanket for a quarterback's a big deal. Drew Locke has to make these throws. I mean, he just layered that thing over the linebacker. That is what you hope for out of a backup quarterback or even a starting quarterback in some places. JSN, a nice weapon to have outside, especially whenever it matters.

1:53:22AQ Shipley:Absolutely. It doesn't matter how talented you are as a wide receiver. You got to have a quarterback that can get you the ball. You got to have an O-line that can block. You got to have a coordinator. So shout out to Brian Fleury as well. That's going to call plays and put you in good position.

1:53:33Pat McAfee:Yeah, shout out to the situation reporter. I like that you put that suit on. Gave that look. I'm about to do some shit here. Big day with Big Shrags. Breaking down all the big plays is next here on ESPN. And as we continue digitally, we can't thank you all enough for allowing us to do this for a living. You're the greatest people on earth. Be a friend to our friends. I'm nice. It might change your life. Goodbye. Good send to Big Day with Big Shranks. Yeah, big time. I felt really, I feel like I gave him a good. With J-Mac swinging a hot bat going in there. Have you seen Big Day with Big Shranks?

1:54:05Pat McAfee:I've not seen it yet. I saw a rap sheet yesterday with a sweet leather jacket on. I saw a highlight. They went into something and it sounded like shit. Hmm? At the end of the show. No, their show ended. Sorry. Not big dad, big strikes. Yeah, it was. There's some sort of technical difficulties to whatever he threw. Oh, got it. Yes. And that happened last week as well. So they're figuring out, I believe, the transmissions that are probably taking place between different studios and what stays live. This is once again on the hard out conversation. Yes. That we had a couple weeks ago when we were blamed for the hard out mishap that took place from the city of New York.

1:54:37Pat McAfee:It'll all get worked out. It'll all get worked out. No doubt. All right. Let's get to a break. We got a lot to figure out. Who are the top five offensive lines coming out of week two? Good question. How about who has some good D? I'd like to know that, too. No bad D, right? What just happened? No bad D. You saw some bad D right there.

1:54:57AQ Shipley:Good offense. Good O. Better O. Oh, you're talking about right here with the Arizona Cardinals? Yeah.

1:55:01Pat McAfee:We're not showcasing bad D. We're swinging good D right here. That's right. Good D only. Okay? Ain't that right, AQ? That's right. Sling it. Didn't sound natural coming out of here. Well. Slinging it. AJ, I don't like the well there. You know, this is kind of like the – did you hear what happened earlier when I introduced AQ Shipley, who he is and what Ty did and how Ty meant? No, no, no, no. Well, a little bit. I did. I did see that. I mean, no, I don't think Ty meant anything by it. No ill will. Thanks, AJ. All right, universe ball for injuries. Here we go. Okay. And world peace or what? we've taken that until the offseason kind of one of the same

1:55:43AQ Shipley:yeah I think so too I'm with you AJ

1:55:46Pat McAfee:it is September 23rd 2026 football is started I am for no cause foreign or domestic other than football so you hate world peace wow it is September 23rd 2026 and although I hope world peace happens. Thank you. I personally am for no cause foreign or domestic other than football. Okay. It is September 23rd, 2026. I am hoping for world peace. I am hoping for a cure for all diseases. I am hoping for no more criminality. I am hoping for pure intentions of all humans across the globe. I am hoping for the in-theory world that some people live in to become our reality. But on that note, I personally will be throwing universe balls for no other cause, foreign or domestic, other than football.

1:56:54Pat McAfee:Okay. Clarified all that? Include soccer? No. Okay. No. What? Because football... AQ's daughter, maybe. If AQ's daughter's playing, I'm pulling for that team what's the name of the team sc del sol okay that's my team sc del sol and i want to let you know they got a shipley problem on that team i mean she's scoring from all over the place and she's running through people like she has her dad in her love that and she has the build speed and uh yeah she gets it she's running through people we're watching highlights of her run through people and then going scoring goals oh yeah and they're playing like different states and shit already?

1:57:35Pat McAfee:Oh, yeah. It's crazy. S.E. Del Sol. I like you guys call it soccer club, too. Yeah. That's right. Because you guys get it. That's right. Yeah, that's my team. S.E. Del Sol. This is for football injuries. Okay.

1:57:50AQ Shipley:No more?

1:57:51Pat McAfee:No more of them. No more of them. Yeah, not more of them. Geez. No more of them. Whew.

1:57:59Pat McAfee:We can't lose any more quarterbacks. No.

1:58:01AQ Shipley:Michael Penish just came back Thursday night football. Need him.

1:58:14Oh, right on line.

1:58:55Pat McAfee:A new podcast series from ABC Audio in 2020 goes inside a case that has captivated the nation. To many people, Luigi Mangione is a modern-day Robin Hood. People were cheering the demise of this person they'd never met, who was a father of two and a husband and had a life and was just doing a job. From the manhunt ending in a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to what authorities are saying about a possible motive. I'm ABC News legal analyst Brian Buckmeyer. Listen to Burnin' Up Proof, Luigi Mangione, wherever you get your podcasts.

1:59:37Pat McAfee:Football! He's the greatest man. He's a college football national champion, a Super Bowl champion, and a Ryder Cup winner. That's A.J. Hawk. The Talks at the Table is here at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt. A man sitting in one half of the hammer. Down. Cowboy seat. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler. who will be breaking down that huge good D from the weekend. Let's go. Ain't that right?

1:59:58AQ Shipley:Oh, I don't think we need to call it huge. That big fat good D. Yeah. Or that. It's just good defensive football. Hard good D. Hard nose. Hard nose football.

2:00:11Pat McAfee:Yeah. That stiff good D.

2:00:13AQ Shipley:Stimulated good D. Stingy. There we go. I like that one.

2:00:18Pat McAfee:Stingy average D. I think below average, maybe. I don't know. Thick. Thick. Physical D. Yeah, physical. Physical pounding. Hard. Good. D. Yeah. That's what we got coming out. Everything DB. Darius J. Butler's long, hard D. Good D. Good D. He scratches from the record. Good D, Fit. No. Good D. Yeah. not just good defense because there's difference between defense and d you know and when you're when you got that good d everybody knows it today we're gonna spotlight it

2:01:07Pat McAfee:john ham but first ladies and gentlemen what what i don't know he's i don't know he's breaking down film we'll dive into the good d here in a matter of moments uh but before that Let's go to above average, to slightly above average, big men. Ladies and gentlemen, a Super Bowl champion, a 12-year NFL vet, a man who goes in the trenches every single week for us, looking for somebody that beat down that good D. Ladies and gentlemen, AQ Shipley is here. Thank you. Who beat that good D this weekend in the big boy division? Because it is time, ladies and gentlemen, for our top five performing offensive lines coming out of week two of the NFL season.

2:01:49Pat McAfee:Let's go in the trenches. Number five offensive line this week, the New England Patriots. Wow. How come, AQ? Well, the New England Patriots, they did exactly what they used to do when they were really good at running the football. They went a lot of two back, get a full back involved, tight end, but grimy style of play. And I love this. Let's watch Jared Wilson and Morgan Moses. One of my favorite plays. We're going to pull the backside tackle. Elijah Vera Tucker on the front side is going to get a nice block down on the two. I just drew that up. Right tackle is going to come around. He's going to get a great fit on the linebacker.

2:02:21And then Travion Henderson is going to hit this thing downhill. Bounce off of him. Now let's watch this spotlight. Look at Pop Douglas. Watch him take out two guys right here. Look at this spotlight right here. Take out safety and safety. See you later. All the way to the end zone. Heck of a run.

2:02:35Pat McAfee:Going to have to have the run game right with what's happening through the air, Conman? Yeah, for sure. And that was kind of the conversation once we saw this list was really the Patriots offense. Did they play that well? And they did. A lot of the problems that they had on offense are stemming from Drake May. Patting the ball, holding on to it, but the O-line has showed up, and Will Campbell much, much improved. Really good hand-drawing here of what's happening in front of our face. Travion Henderson being back is a huge deal, right? This was his first game back as starter? Yes, from the season.

2:03:02He didn't start. He bounced in and out. Mondra Stevenson actually fumbled, so then it was basically Travion Henderson's day from their forward. But, yeah, this was his first game of the year.

2:03:11Pat McAfee:Bob Douglas getting a little bit there at the end. Like the full-team buy-in. Okay, that's number five offensive line to New England Patriots. Number four, the Minnesota Vikings. Congratulations. Yeah, this was kind of a throwback. You get Aaron Jones, senior, going for over 100 yards rushing this week. But I love this play. Let's watch this. We're going to get the jet motion. Watch the ball handling by Carson Wentz. And also watch the DB run with the jet motion. Gets rid of the support player. You pull around Christian Derisaw, who is back to playing the football he's supposed to be playing. Kick out on the corner.

2:03:41Let's take a look at this. Big. Gay big.

2:03:45Pat McAfee:hole. Interesting. Arrow could have used one from the thing, but I like that you decided to draw it off center. Great hole there for you, and a great run by Aaron Jones Sr., who's a weapon. Yeah, it was incredible. And listen, these guys ran the heck out of the football. I thought both the interior guards played fantastic. New center, Blake Brandle, doing a great job in the middle. And then, obviously, Christian Derriss on Brian O 'Neal. Bookend tackles. They got a really good offensive line. They played great this whole game. Derriss off being back is huge for this team going forward. In the middle of a monsoon.

2:04:13Pat McAfee:And arrow's tough to draw freehand. It is. You know, that's why they have one on there. I think you did a great job with that. You made your point across. That's offensive line football. We like to draw things. It almost looked like a good D, but instead it was just kind of a little bit off center. We'll tell it what. But that's how it goes. Who's the next offensive line that needs to be celebrated coming out of week two? Ooh, the Los Angeles Rams. Yeah, and this is an awesome play. Let's take a look at this. We get two tight end wing to the strong side on the right side right here. Now let's watch this.

2:04:41They're going to run a full outside zone play to the right. Look at this. Climb. Now watch this. Leave him. We get a two for one here. Leave him and climb again for the next guy. That's how you capture the edge. Unbelievable job by Davis Allen. The outside tight end and Colby Parkinson. The inside tight end. Capturing and ganging on the outside. That's called a gang combo between two tight ends. Get up to the second level. But again, look. He should stop on the first linebacker. Nope. Stops there. Highlight it again. Press off him. Climb again to the next guy. Boom. Capture the edge. And this is awesome.

2:05:13This two-headed monster between Blake Corham and obviously Kyron, I mean, they've been fantastic at running back.

2:05:19Pat McAfee:Gang Gang created a wall outside. Obviously, McVay has the capability to drop great run plays. They have the weapons to do as such. And then also, oh, yeah, Devontae Adams can go for 195 and two touchdowns if you need him. That's a wall against a very physical Giants football team, right, is what we thought. Yeah, and capturing the edge is the hardest thing. D-Buzz, you know that. Oh, yeah. Listen, every edge guy in America has taught, hey, don't give up the edge. Force it back to your buddies inside.

2:05:42AQ Shipley:No edge, no chance. That's it. And right there, they do a fantastic job, not only on the first level, not only on the second level, but leaving the second and getting to the third. It was fantastic.

2:05:50Pat McAfee:Welcome back, Rams, who are 1-0. That's right. 1-0 on the season after two games. Number two offensive line, I like this, Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super Bowl champs are getting it done up front, you're saying. Absolutely. JSN was fantastic, but, again, it starts with the run game. They got the run game going in a big way. Their fullback has been fantastic all year, Brady Russell. But let's watch this. This might be the biggest hole I've ever fucking seen. I mean, we get an unbelievable hole. We get a double team between Charles Cross, the left tackle, and Gray Zabel, who's one of my favorite linemen in the league.

2:06:20Then the fullback climbs. Brady Russell, watch this. We get the highlight. Just clean up on the safety. And then you get a hole that's 20 yards wide. You get the cutback behind everything. I mean, my little four-year-old son could have gotten 25 yards on this run.

2:06:36Pat McAfee:Yeah, and you like the fullback. Fullbacks have been huge this year across the board, seemingly. Fullbacks are fantastic because you gain plus one in the run game. Not everybody can use it. Not everybody believes in it because then you limit what you can do in the pass game. But, man, if you got a fullback and you got a strong running game, utilize that fullback and it gets you plus one in the run game. Okay, so this is a duo? No, this is just an outside zone. We call it split zone. See, right? So you get the backside tight end block and man. Everybody else washes everything. So you're going to wash everything right to the front side.

2:07:04You get a man block on the backside, and then the fullback starts right, cuts it back. That's split zone, and then the tailback follows him.

2:07:10Pat McAfee:Congrats to the Seahawks. Obviously, they lose Kenneth Walker, who is the guy for the Chiefs now. He was a Super Bowl MVP. How will the run game go this particular season? Well, remember, Seahawks running back coach is a big-time... Fuck that shit. He wants them to hit it and get it easy to do whenever you have that big of a hole out there. Okay, congrats to the Seahawks, number two offensive line. And the number one offensive line in the NFL coming out of week two in the trenches with AQ Shipley is the Buffalo Bills. Congratulations, Buffalo. Hey, hey. Hey, hey. Hey, hey. Hey, hey. Let's go, Buffalo.

2:07:50Pat McAfee:Let's go, Buffalo. They got the big boys up there in Buffalo, huh? We know they got Dion Dawkins. You're saying the line, though, across the board is the one? They were fantastic up front across the board, but check this out. Look at this formation, right? We're going to get two plays here. We got two plays from the Buffalo Bills. And by the way, if you can't figure this out, it's the same exact play. See the three guys right there? We got two tight ends and a wide receiver. They're going to line up right there. And then see those three? They have to sort it out to get those three on defense. Let's watch this.

2:08:16And then everybody else, they're running duo. You got a double team and a double team. Look at Deion Dawkins. Do a great job. He's highlighted right there. He's going to seal it. And then the other three just sort it out. Boom. There's the big cutout, the backside. Then the very next play, they're going to come out exactly the same look. So when you're on the same play, same formation, two times in a row, demoralizing the defense. They know exactly what's coming. Can you stop it? Three for three. Got to sort it out again. There it is. Different. Now headed out the front side. Gash on gash on gash.

2:08:44They ran it again two more times before they scored the touchdown. They just kept lining up and running the same play. What does that tell you about Joe Brady?

2:08:50Pat McAfee:Does Joe Brady normally do that type of stuff? Do offenses do this type of thing? Oh, yeah. They start seeing success?

2:08:54AQ Shipley:Oh, yeah. As a defense, you got to stop the bleeding. They're going to keep running it until you stop it. They did this last year against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Remember, it was duo, right? They ran like 25 times or something like that?

2:09:03Pat McAfee:That's right.

2:09:04AQ Shipley:So that's Joe Brady's M.O. Oh, yeah. Love that.

2:09:06Pat McAfee:Okay, we'll see. Let's see if they can stop it. Now, the way I play table tennis and ping pong, if I find out somebody doesn't have a backhand, I'm at 11 straight times. I'm going right to the backhand. This isn't fun. I'm not able to. Don't care. Okay, this is what we're trying to do. Joe Brady does the same thing. Is that normal? Is that normal for an offense coordinator to do? Because I feel like there's always like, hey, we're doing this good. Let's not waste it. Let's bring that back whenever we need it. Well, you see success. You go back to it, right? You remember playing special teams. Hey, let's find the fish, right?

2:09:32I'm not saying there's a fish here, but they saw success. They go back to it. They go back to it. Then they run the play action off of it because they think you're going to run it again. Same formation, same look, and then they hit the play action off of it. But they got unbelievable blocking tight ends. This 85 Jackson Dawes right here, he's the closest inline tight end. He's like another tackle playing tight end, and he's fantastic in the run game. So they utilize that off.

2:09:54Pat McAfee:Look at Sky Moore there putting his face in the fan.

2:09:57AQ Shipley:And the free hitter you leave is a corner. That's right. So, like, you trust James Cook or whoever your starting running back is to be able to win that one-on-one matchup. You know, the guys get paid the big bucks and make one miss, so you're leaving the corner free. And James Cook, I mean, he always does an unbelievable job of having vision. And then his cut is either a cut back, it's a cut up, but he's just so smooth with just unbelievable running, but a great, great scheme. It's almost like they're letting James Cook.

2:10:25Pat McAfee:Can only do that if you've got a good offensive line. Congrats to these five making the top five O-lines in the trenches today. I'll tell you what, Rams surprising. Yeah. If you were to go back after week one and say, hey, the Rams offensive line is going to be a top five O-line after week two, I think we'd all be pretty surprised by that. Minnesota Vikings have that torrential downpour game against the Bears. Had to do well, especially with Carson Wentz. Shout out to the Patriots getting it done however you got to do. Teams win, obviously, even if you're not playing your absolute best. Seahawks Super Bowl champs and the Buffalo Beals, The only question is, can their defense get a stop?

2:10:58Pat McAfee:Because it feels like offense is going to be able to score. And do they need to? Yeah, exactly. Two different ways of winning, too, for Buffalo. In week one, they had a great pass protection plan. It was a heavy pass. They didn't really run the ball very much this week. It was, hey, we can line up and we can run it, too. AJ, what are your thoughts on top five offensive lines? I mean, I would assume, AQ, that a lot of these lines have a lot of continuity. They have guys that have played together for a little bit. Yeah, Buffalo has a lot of the same guys. The interesting point, they lost David Edwards to the Saints at left guard.

2:11:24They put in Alec Anderson, who was their 6th O-line. Remember, they did a bunch of 6th O-linemen stuff last year. They import him into left court. He has been playing fantastic. And then Minnesota Vikings invested heavily in their offensive line. They bring Will Fries over from the Colts a couple years ago. And then, obviously, their bookend tackles are paid. So they paid a lot of their guys and a first-round pick at left guard.

2:11:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, we used to have French and Fries right there on the offensive line. And we were cooked at the time. I'm happy to hear Fries is doing great for Minnesota. But Derrissaw being back is great news because he was a mainstay of this particular segment for a while. Seattle Seahawks, we just assumed they're going to be great across the board. So they're one of, I think, maybe one or two teams that have all five returning guys from a year ago. Now, having said that, Anthony Bradford was out at right guard this week, and then they lost Haynes, their backup guard. So they were down to their third guard, Iowa Hawkeye, Bo Stevens.

2:12:13He played pretty well, didn't he? And he played pretty well. So, I mean, they just got guys. They got guys everywhere. They got guys going down to their eighth and ninth guy playing well in that system.

2:12:21Pat McAfee:AJ, good question about the continuity, though. That's a big deal for the offensive line. You need continuity. You need continuity. Well, what if one of these guys is ass and we don't know it? What if these guys are certainly pulling him is a big deal because he has chemistry, even if he's bad, with the guys that are next to him? So any adjustment to an offensive line can change it forever or make it better forever, right? Yeah, there's no doubt about it. And the Patriots, we'll find out, right? They lost Onwenu, who's the monster of a man, right? A big 350-pounder, breaks his ankle. He's out.

2:12:48He's gross. They get Greg Van Roten, who's a true pro. He's been in the league for almost a decade now. I played with Greg 20 years ago. Greg's been playing forever. Forever. And he went in and stepped in and played really well. So that's the key. The key is the guys up front are awesome, but are 6, 7, 8, and 9 good. How many do you need? Nine of them? No, you need nine to feel your offensive line. Maybe you dress for a game, 8Q. You dress 8 nowadays. It used to be 7, but they've allowed 8 because you get that extra person now. So now you can dress a true backup center, a true backup guard swing, and a true backup tackle center.

2:13:17Pat McAfee:Yeah, because you used to just have one swing and then one center, right? Normally back up. It was one swing guard tackle, one swing center guard, right? Yeah. And then you were also a fullback in. That's right. Kickoff return wedge, man. But more you can do. Yeah, absolutely more you can do. What about teams who just like jumble it every single week? Like, oh, let's put this guy right tackle this week. He wasn't great. Let's move him to right guard next week, okay? He wasn't great there. Let's move him to center this week, okay? He wasn't great there. Oh, kind of like popcorn popping around? Yeah, pretty much.

2:13:43I think he's talking a little bit about the Green Bay Packers and the way that they rotate guys. They do it every fucking week. They've got a guy playing a new position every single week, dating back to last year. And maybe that's why they've got six offensive linemen injured right now. Yeah, that's a big issue. I'm not a big fan of rotating guys. I'm certainly not a big fan of rotating guys in-game. I'm certainly even more not a big fan of rotating sides and guys who Jordan Morgan has played almost every position on the offensive line. And now he's at left tack when all of a sudden he plays good football.

2:14:11And it's like, well, why is he playing good football? Because he's playing a position that he knows how to play.

2:14:14Pat McAfee:How's Kalani doing, Benson? Khalil? Sorry. Khalil nailed it. Khalil, sorry. He's 100 % on me, Khalil. Khalil's doing a great job. I mean, again, they're going to go back to Josh Simmons when Josh Simmons is back, but Khalil Benson has done a very admirable job. He's been better than expected at left tackle. 2-0. Yeah. A drafted rookie at left tackle. Why? I mean, I understand he's a first-round pick, but they've looked pretty – like, why? First-round pick? You nailed it. I think their right tackle got banged up as well towards the end of the game too, so he might just start where he was kind of going into camp at right tackle and right guard, which is what his position was.

2:14:52Pat McAfee:Matt Schneidman's reporting of the Packers. There was a time, LaFleur said, there was a time where we were down to 4-0 linemen. We're talking about putting Tucker Craft in a tackle. My monk was getting evaluated. I've never been a part of anything like that, LaFleur said. Yeah, love seeing that. You know, the guy you just gave about$100 million to, who's arguably your best pass catcher, might have to play, you know, right tackle this week. So that's great. Tucker, I know Tucker doesn't love hearing that either. No, certainly not. And once again, this is nothing. I think Jordan Love likes hearing it either.

2:15:20Pat McAfee:Yeah, all that sounds not good. I don't think anybody's. LaFleur said, I don't like saying this either. I'm just telling you where we were.

2:15:26AQ Shipley:Pat, we needed you to make that fucking ball, man. We almost had Braxton Burios, the fucking quarterback. We got Tucker Craft almost a fucking left tackle. What are we doing, man?

2:15:35Pat McAfee:Tough story, man. Week three. It's not about me, bro. It's the universe. You had the ball. Cardinals just lost their best corner for the year. Tough. What's going on? Why is everybody getting hurt? A lot of injuries. These guys don't hit during training camp. Come on, coach. Guys eating too healthy?

2:15:53AQ Shipley:Maybe they're not calloused enough.

2:15:55Pat McAfee:Get off the e-bikes. Get too much sleep? Drink more beer. Whiz. Whiskey. Whiz. Wings. Whiz. Pizza. Whiz. Make sure you're burning sage out there, too, to keep the good spirits around. Whiz. Let's live a little. Maybe get calloused up, you know? Yeah. Maybe our bodies are hardened because we put shit in it, you know? And maybe just having a 700-horsepower fickle engine that needs pure oil in it every single day, every single time it operates, isn't sustainable for a 17-game season. Maybe that isn't what it is. All these hockey players are talking about being tough. From my understanding, vodka's water for these guys.

2:16:40Ovechkin was drinking water bottles full of Coke. Still is. He's been doing it for 20 years. Hot Cheetos and Subway. That's his pregame meal.

2:16:49Pat McAfee:I've seen guys that have won Super Bowls and are in the Hall of Fame. Ice cream. Night before a game. Exactly. I mean, just. Lactose intolerant. Who?

2:16:59AQ Shipley:Give me the inflammation.

2:17:00Pat McAfee:I'm lactose intolerant. Sweet. Cookies and cream here. Unbelievable. You should see the Hershey syrup they got here, too. Oh, yeah. Let's go ahead and get that. We got big game more. Yeah, bingo. Big game more. Who's got – you got beer over there? Yeah. What? Take it all. I'll take one of those too. Yep. Thank you so much. I'll take one of those. Popeye's on a plane trip. Oh. The best. Different time. Maybe they need to go back in time. Sometimes to go forward. Which is what these lads might need. You got to go back. But there's a dietician right now telling us how wrong we are. It's like, okay, thanks.

2:17:36There's a balance. You got to balance everything. Shut up. I don't need my O-linemen. We don't need our O-linemen eating too healthy. I know that much.

2:17:45Pat McAfee:Agreed. But also, we don't even become fatzos. You know? Well, yeah. Because there's a fine line between. That's a big body first. Fat ass! You know, there is. There's a fine line between the two, especially with you big bodies, I think. Yeah, that's right. But they make drinks for those, too. To get it all out. That's right. Oh, yeah. Every Wednesday night. Weigh-in's Thursday. Probably not the best for you physically. No way. I mean. It's fine. It worked out okay. So if you had to go back in time, you would do the same thing. You would do it the same way that you did it with. And for those that don't know, when you get a colonoscopy, they, like, tell you to drink that stuff the night before so it can kind of clear you out.

2:18:24Pat McAfee:And people describe it as, like, the most active and worst night, you know, every single time. AQ did that every week of his entire football career the night before a weigh-in because his fat ass couldn't stop eating. Right? That's a fair statement. I had to make weight. Didn't want to get fined. So you're just pounding Pedialyte like the next morning then? I mean, there was times he would see me post weigh-in where, I mean, it looked like I went through hell and back. Like a UFC guy. Yeah. I'd be in the sauna after these things. I'd be in the toilet all morning. Would they turn you guys' sauna off or steam room the morning of play-in?

2:18:58No, no, I was all in. All right, let's step on the scale. Three, 10.2. Okay, let's get another point. Three, oh, 9.8. Perfect. I figured I'd come out and collapse.

2:19:07Pat McAfee:Yeah, it was disgusting, really, what he was doing. And never had to pay for an extra pound, though. There you go. And stayed relatively healthy most of my career until the end. Which I think is just kind of status quo for most football positions, especially at the offensive line. I would say so. Yeah, so maybe you should be given a course on how to kind of do it all to this next generation. I don't know if they'll listen. That reminded me of Hasselbeck when I walked into Houston. Oh, my gosh. He had a hoodie on like Kenny. He had a hoodie on. Somebody, I didn't know it was Hasselbeck at the time.

2:19:37Walk in, take first bus, walk into locker room.

2:19:40Pat McAfee:There's a carcass on the ground as if it was Halloween and they stuffed it with leaves, you know, like out front. Kenny hoodie tied in like this, basically just mouth and nose open. I'm talking Kenny from South Park. Hoodie, sweats, dead body position on ground in locker room. Walk in, do a kick. Who the hell is this? Teams here. Open it up. Hasselbeck. That's our starting quarterback. Are you all right, buddy? I was in the hospital the last three days. You were at practice, too. They let me out, then I go back to the hospital. It's like, what? When were you in the hospital last night? I was in the hospital, yeah.

2:20:15Pat McAfee:They flew me in here this morning. It's like, what the fuck? E. coli he had or something? Oh, yeah. He had E. coli? And I think it was dumping and puking. It was like a mass exodus. He went out, threw for 200 plus, a couple of times, we win the game. Peace. Never been more impressed with him. Tough. Mental toughness. Yes. Right there. In hospital, IVs, you know, the night before, coming to practice, just, hey, how are we doing? Didn't have no idea he was battling E. coli. We get a win. I did think, all right, I'm going to have to warm up pretty good today. You know, starting quarterback's dead.

2:20:48Pat McAfee:Probably going to be punting a little bit. That's like when I walked in and Peyton had a bunch of wires. Training camp, I had no idea what had happened to his neck. Get called down there. Had a great offseason. I mean, just a great offseason. Peyton Manning's punter. Life's pretty good. You know, we've won a lot of games. Hey, why don't you come on down, bud? Come down. He's got a fucking bunch of things out of his neck. I'm happy traveling to Europe here pretty soon. I think I might have to be getting something else going on. I don't know if I'm going to be playing this year. Oh, fuck. I was not preparing to be that active this season.

2:21:19Pat McAfee:I will certainly start getting in shape now. I didn't know that was the case. And then we signed Kerry Collins out of a tree stand. And he got concussed first week, I think. Blasted. J.J. Watt did the Aaron Rodgers hit on him. Yeah. Yeah, picked him up, dumped him. That ended his career, didn't it? Yeah, definitely ended his time with the Colts. Yeah. He had a long time? My first pick off Gary Cullen. Legend. Been around long ago. He was in a tree stand, allegedly, when Bill Pulling called him and said, we need you. Yeah, we're not going to have a quarterback. We need a starter of some sort. Shit, I don't know if I can do that.

2:21:50Pat McAfee:I haven't touched the ball. We need you. How much money? Gave him a good amount of money. Comes in, gets killed. Rest in peace, Gary. Have a good one. He's the best. Gary Cullen's a good teammate. but we've sucked that year from that moment forward that's like the giants fans you lose your starting quarterback everything like this early it's like yeah fuck your entire off season of hopes and optimism and storyline seemingly out the door we would go on to almost lose every game that season that peyton manning was you know in there so all of our actual oh we might be fucked years we're real i'm not saying that with the giants though bruce i think you guys got a lot of good football left.

2:22:28Pat McAfee:You got a lot of big bodies over there. Maybe the quarterback position isn't that important, Bruce Brown. Yeah, I mean, it's time for John Harbaugh to earn the$100 million and keep this thing on the tracks. Yesterday, my dauber was down. This morning, maybe my dauber was still down a little bit, but what an opportunity for Jameis Winston to step in here. We got the Titans, the Cardinals, the Commanders. Let's stack some dubs. Let's eat some dubs with Jameis Winston. Maybe we can still make the playoffs or something like that.

2:22:54AQ Shipley:Yeah, especially without a

2:22:56Pat McAfee:Commanders are playing.

2:22:58AQ Shipley:Yeah. They don't have their quarterback either. You guys, that was the quote-unquote suck for luck year, but a lot of those games were one-score games. Nine of them. Yeah. So that goes, you know, it's a tough-ass league. It's a hard-ass league. Like, regardless of what records, it's points spread. You got to go out there and win the fucking games, and usually it comes down to a two-minute drive on offensive defense.

2:23:17Pat McAfee:I think we were like three-quarters away from breaking the all-time punt record. The most amount of punt. I think we were like three, three-quarters away. I had ten punts in the first half of a game. I think. I think it was like nine or ten in the first half. Man. Yeah, that was pretty awesome. One got blocked in the back of the end zone. Stats didn't matter, though, because I got eight other punts to make up for this. That was something I did learn. It's like, man, it's pretty nice to have like fucking seven, eight punts a game. Just kind of shank three of them, hit five good ones. This guy averaged 50 yards a punt.

2:23:45Pat McAfee:It's like, well, I had two 20-yarders in there. Thank God we had seven more attempts at it all. Clyde Christensen was calling plays that year. Oh, yeah. Just talked to Clyde. Love Clyde. The best. He was maybe more in the dumps than anybody because what he thought was about to happen that season and then what ended up happening. Curtis Painter plays good football for us. Dan Orlovsky came in, I believe, at the end. Start one, two games. Beast. Almost won us out of getting Andrew Luck. Would have ended up with RG3 if we would have number two. That's certainly a change in trajectory of everything.

2:24:17Pat McAfee:RG3 had a great start to his career, though. He actually won Offensive Rookie of the Year over Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck took us to the AFC Championship that year. Do you remember that? No, we lost to Baltimore in the first. Yeah, Baltimore. Oh, yeah, because B.A. got sick. B.A.

2:24:31AQ Shipley:got sick. It was Ray Lewis' last home game.

2:24:33Pat McAfee:We were ranked 32nd that year. I remember his shirt. Yeah, build the monster. We're 32nd. Andrew Luck takes us to the playoffs somehow on his back. Well, we had nine, to your point, the year before, I think you said what? You had nine, won four games and lost them all. That year we had nine fourth quarter and overtime comebacks. I don't know if you remember that. Not good enough to win offense rookie of the year because RG3 was absolutely cooking over there in D.C. what it's like. Baltimore won the Super Bowl that year, too, didn't they? Yeah. They went to New England. B.A. was our offense coordinator.

2:25:01Pat McAfee:Wakes up sick, right? I think they take him to the hospital and misses the game. Misses the whole game. That was the last Ray Lewis? Was that the last home game for him? Yeah. They did 47 tributes to him during that game. No way you're winning that game. Every game. Yeah. I mean, if we had B.A., I think there's a chance, but yes, football gods probably having us lose that one because Ray's, you know. At the end, actually, he was the running back for the kneel down. At the end, he was on unstrapped. Oh, I remember that. Yeah, unstrapped, by the way. He's in the middle of the field. We're just sitting over there.

2:25:36Pat McAfee:Yeah, we're just watching this thing. Man, that really came quickly how we got out of here. Yeah, the next year we go to AFC Championship? Nope, two years later.

2:25:43AQ Shipley:The next year we went, that was when we beat the Chiefs on that crazy comeback. That huge comeback. 35. And then the following year we went up the flake gate and lost in the AFC Championship. The flake gate.

2:25:52Pat McAfee:Those are good old days. If this goes in, we're getting back to it. Okay. No more injuries, actually. This one feels good. Okay. We need it, don't we?

2:26:05AQ Shipley:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I hope it doesn't. I don't know what you said. I don't want to put that bad joke.

2:26:13Pat McAfee:What were you going to say?

2:26:14AQ Shipley:If you miss it, are we just compounding the injuries?

2:26:17Pat McAfee:Yeah, just bigger one. I don't think it works like that. No, no, no. We'll find out come Monday. Because we've got to remember, we're not doing anything. The universe is telling us. You know what I mean? Jeez, Caleb, Jackson, Jaden, Kyler, Sam, Tua. Tongvaloa. Tua doesn't count on that. Is he really on crutches with his hammy? Caleb? Yeah. I don't know. Bone did that. He's a Chicago guy. Yeah, but he's a diehard Buffalo Bills. Oh, yeah, I forgot. Two years ago, I remember. All right, if this goes in, no more. All right. And there's not a compounding thing that can happen because the universe is predicting what's about to happen.

2:26:57Pat McAfee:It's a magic eight ball, if you will. Ask again later.

2:27:06Yeah. Good line. Good line.

2:27:11Pat McAfee:The other way to bounce back from that is some good D. Right? Yeah. That's right. That's right. I'm down in the dumps Dauber Don

2:27:26Pat McAfee:Dauber Don One more I think

2:27:39Oh good ball handling there though Just knees exploding With every miss No no no no Could be a bit of a compound here No, it's not. Don't put that on me. Compound fracture. Who's going to be playing out of position this week? Oh, boy. No, no, no. Oh, no, none other. Jeez, Louise. And the cart's out on the field. No, stop. Is that an air ball? No, no, no, no, no. Oh.

2:28:05AQ Shipley:Oh, play thing. Sucked him up. And now the ambulance, folks. It's not looking good.

2:28:14AQ Shipley:I mean. Is that a CPR machine? They're fucking airlifted. They're using the defibrillator. Yeah, they got the backboard out. They just took the face mask off. Oh, God. Guys, stay in the night in the hospital in whatever city they're in. No. I was going to strip sack that right there just so we couldn't watch it anymore. Change the vibes.

2:28:38AQ Shipley:Let's go pocket awareness. Nice.

2:28:44They're actually going to stop the game here, folks. find something else to watch it's bloody and it's bad I'm not doing that ever again

2:28:54Pat McAfee:that's way too much pressure

2:28:55AQ Shipley:you gotta make more than something we can't go out like that I think we're going out like that I think we can oh there we go

2:29:15We're meant to cancel games because there's so many guys that are hurt. I mean, Tucker Craft. I know. All right. Left tackle, man. Yeah. Would have been fucked up to turn off injuries after we're already on to the World Cup correspondent anyway.

2:29:29Pat McAfee:What do you mean? I'm just saying it would be kind of messed up. I don't think I fully comprehend what you're saying. You can't just have injuries to some teams and then just say no injuries the rest of the way. Oh, so you're saying, wow, it must be nice to have no more injuries after we lose our quarterback in New York for the entire season. I was sitting here rooting for every single ball to not go in the hoop. See? Terrible guy. That is bad, brother. Maybe all those misses are for one guy. Misery loves company there, and I hope not. Okay? I hope that's not one guy on my team. I hope it's on somebody else's.

2:30:06Pat McAfee:I hope for none of them. I hope for none of them. I hope for no more injuries, but it seems like that's not likely.

2:30:15Don't do it. I mean, this is fucking wild.

2:30:18Pat McAfee:Fuck, worst one. Let's get to – that ball is much smaller. Yeah, tiny ball. Thank you. You're only going to get one shot, one opportunity later. Might as well throw the brain. That's what's going to happen this week. Brains are going to explode. No, brains are not going to explode.

2:30:37AQ Shipley:Golden brain.

2:30:38Pat McAfee:International game.

2:30:39AQ Shipley:Yeah, you're right. What a fly. Oh, boy. Do you know what this is? Cricket. No. It's a hurl. Of course. Don't do that. Everyone's going to get Zika down there. No. Brazil, he's on or something. That's not real.

2:30:57Oh! Okay. We're good for them. For Ravens, Cowboys. That went in. Did it?

2:31:03AQ Shipley:No, it didn't. I thought it did. Yeah, it did. I think it went in. It looked like it went in for me. Yeah, it went in. I think it went in. It went in. It went in. Yeah, if the rim was four feet left, it went in. Lamar and Dak are good.

2:31:14Pat McAfee:Lamar and Dak are good. No, no, no. I think you might have had a bad view on it. We might have to run that back at some point. I think it did. A hurling ball is called a slitter. It's slightly larger than a tennis ball with a diameter of 69 to 72 millimeters for adults. It weighs roughly 115 grams. That's what I just threw right there. Threw that hoop right over there. 115 guys are going to get hurt now? No, he made it. No, I made it. Oh, yeah. Now, if we lie about it going in, what happens? Yeah, it's not good either. Did you make it? I don't know. I don't know. I couldn't see. I couldn't see.

2:31:50Pat McAfee:It was such a small ball. I saw it clear as day. Didn't go in. Fuck! Yeah, but look at your glasses. You got fucking binoculars on your face. You're saying we're going to have a fucking blackout is what we're going to have. We're going to have a blackout here. You think there's not going to be enough players to play the game, like Ty was saying earlier, because all these balls. I mean, we've got a cemetery out here. Yeah, I've got like 25 ACOs. No, that is not how this is going to go. A couple necks. Remember, this show means nothing. The show means nothing. Always has meant nothing and always will mean nothing.

2:32:20Pat McAfee:That means nothing right there. What we have learned, though, is that Bruce, pretty disgusting reaction, you know, to this entire thing. But, hey, that is the way I guess I'd be looking at it, too, if I feel like my entire season got thrown away week two. I do hope nobody gets hurt, but, you know. Thank you, Bruce. Yeah. Me, too. Stop with the madness. Oh, this is baseball. Yeah, this is for the MLB playoffs. Judge E. Oh! Nice. That's big. Like, judge is back. Who cares about baseball? That throw means nothing. It's football season, boys. No, that was for all athletes. No. Sounds like a guy without a team in the MLB playoffs.

2:33:11Pat McAfee:Yeah, well, he's not the only one. That's right. Yeah. Let's get some good D. That's good news. Yeah, that is good news. I don't know exactly what that is good news for, but it's something. We'll see. That was my first time throwing that ball. Yeah, that's good news. So all these other balls, just warm up for that particular ball. Universe ball, we're in a good spot. AJ, do you agree that because that baseball went in there, maybe the universe is telling us something good? Yeah. It's like the whole thing. It's not how many times you fall off the horse. It's how many times you get back up, right?

2:33:39Pat McAfee:That's right. That is what it's all about. In the universe, normally, if it's going to indicate something to us, they would want us to go through seven different shots at it, multiple different sports, and land on the third one for that to be the actual message. The universe operates in such an interesting way. Funny way. It is. It's a little fickle to figure out up there, isn't it, the universe? Shout out to the universe for doing that. No more injuries. I do fear that nobody's going to see the baseball one, just all the football ones, and think that the universe was somehow saying something bad.

2:34:07Pat McAfee:It was saying something good right there. AJ, clearly saying something good right there. Clearly, yeah. The universe is expecting great things from here on out. Yes. On that note, let's get some great D's, shall we? Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to go Everything DB with Darius J. Butler and showcase some good D from around the NFL. Let's get this thing started.

2:34:26AQ Shipley:Yeah, we'll start with the Browns, and their diver has been down for a long, long time. But look, Todd Monk can tell you after the game, Brown's going to Brown. Nope, fuck that. They came out here and played ball, and it started with defense, big-time interception here. We got Miles Harden at the bottom of the screen. But all of these good Ds across the board, it's about kind of lying and showing disguise. We talked about green dots. Talked about communication. It's not only about the coverage, but you're also communicating disguise as well. You can tell that these guys are on the same page right now.

2:34:52AQ Shipley:So in post safety, this safety's down. Once this motion comes down, they start their moving. Boom. Now Baker Mayfield's coming out of that play action. When he went back, it was single high. Now he's coming back. His middle close is too open. And now he's going to try to beat this underneath defender, Myles Harden. He's getting great depth, great width, keeping his eyes back at the quarterback when the underneath defenders always talk about playing these routes high to low. He did a great job here. Baker still tries to layer it over him. He does not. Great big-time pick. But I think this started with the pre-snap disguise.

2:35:25Pat McAfee:Okay, so pre-snap disguise fooling a veteran quarterback here. Cleveland Browns defense still for real?

2:35:31AQ Shipley:They have the players. They have the players. And it starts with continuity. It's a lot of similarities, especially with secondaries, but with defenses with the O-line. You talk about continuity and playing with guys, playing next to guys, knowing how we're going to communicate, how we're going to disguise certain coverages. So the more these guys play together, I think they'll continue to get better. Hey, that's good D coming out of Cleveland. That's good D. Yeah, pretty good D. Baker Mayfield had this game circled on his calendar for this long, and that's the throw he comes out with? What the fuck was that?

2:35:56Well, he was fooled.

2:35:57Pat McAfee:He didn't think it was that. I didn't see that, Muffin. Jeez Louise, baby. Wake up. No, some people are calling him Meatballs. Yeah. Whatever you call him. The deli man? He was fooled, though, I think is what D-Bot's saying, right?

2:36:08AQ Shipley:Part of it was fooled, but he did see the defender, and a lot of times you'll hear quarterbacks talk about it, especially with zone coverages, the underneath defenders. They see color. It's all right. You see the color. You see the brown jerseys. You think, hey, I can get this over top of him. But Harden did a great job of continuing to sink, continuing to get depth, getting back at the ball. And it's hard. It is so hard, AJ. I'm sure you've been in this position a lot, to be going backwards as a defender and jump. So many times you look and you're like, hey, you want to get into that stance and then jump straight up.

2:36:34AQ Shipley:When you're going back and jumping, it's very, very tough. But he did a good job high-pointing it and finishing the catch. AJ? Oh, you need more response. I mean, D-Butt, this guy makes it look very easy. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, though. These guys, all these guys make stuff that's super athletic look easy. Like, D-Butt is completely right here. But look at it. If you see pre-snap, they're all, what do you have, like six dudes all on the same level, D-Butt? And then, bam, nine backs out, safety's out of here, and here we go. We've got a new look as Bakes turn his back to the defense. Great job.

2:37:04Pat McAfee:Great job. Unbelievable job. And shout-out to the Cleveland Browns defense winning the game down in Tampa, especially with the red zone after two and a half hours. if Baker goes and scores that. And your point about running backwards and jumping, it feels like throwing a punch in your dream. Yes. Like you just have no power.

2:37:23AQ Shipley:Great comparison.

2:37:23Pat McAfee:Yeah, that is – I've tried to do that before. That is what it feels like running backwards. So the guy able to do that, freak athlete. I mean, the guy who had 195 yards, Devontae had a situation like that where he couldn't actually jump. It was on Javon Holland's interception. Like it was a deep ball and he was backpedaling and he literally couldn't jump whatsoever. and that's why it ended up being an interception. Yeah, objects in motion stay in motion, which is why going backwards and then going up, et cetera, that was a dynamic explosion.

2:37:52AQ Shipley:Athlete, that was a phenomenal play.

2:37:54Pat McAfee:Until you pointed it out, I didn't even think about that.

2:37:56AQ Shipley:And a lot of times coaches will tell you, especially with underneath defenders, like get to your spot, like get to your depth, and then that way you can set up. You can have like a cobra-like demeanor where you have an athletic position. You can either come forward, you can go backward, you can jump up, you can go laterally. so when you're continuing to sink back and then you kind of time that jump off off the one foot and then you high point and make the catch. Great job by Myles Harden.

2:38:17Pat McAfee:Do you remember when Hartung used to do this to you in high school basketball, A.Q. Shipley? No, I don't remember that ever. That never happened. Could you jump while moving backwards? No way. That's a good question. Actually. I might try it after the show. Okay, let's get it done. That would be a good time to test your body physically, I think. Yeah, great time. Whoa. No, no, no. Not him. Not him. Even me, just watching that makes me think. If I tried to do that, I would strain something in my body. And I don't know if I would go on the ground and ask for a card and cry about it, but I'd know that I'd strain something in my life.

2:38:52You have no idea. You've never been there. Exactly. You might. Maybe you do. I might. And I might pat. Or, like Jackson Dart, I'd just fucking walk my ass off the field.

2:39:03Pat McAfee:How about remember when Tyrese was telling a story? Yeah. He was like, Kobe walked off. Let me walk. Let me walk. Try to stand up. Help me. Help me. You know, injury is obviously situational. But if Caleb Williams is back on Monday night, which was that? Ben Johnson won't let that happen. I don't think that. Just strictly for the optics of it all. But if he is even in consideration to be back that quick, we as NFL fans got very lucky that Caleb Williams is still going to be playing football this year, especially a lot of it. Let's go to some more good D. Looks like this one's mile high.

2:39:37AQ Shipley:Yeah, I've actually been where Caleb Williams was. I pulled a hammy right on this field. Should have been a pick six. Pulled that hammy, went right down. I did get up and jog off. But getting back to the Denver Broncos, single high. Once again, a good job lying to the quarterback pre-snap. This is a very hype game. Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos. He's showing right now. It looks like cover three or maybe man out here with Riley Mouse down here at the bottom. He's off by eight yards. That's where you play, man. And Brock Purdy put out a clip talking about how much quarterbacks have to anticipate and they don't really see the throws that they're making all these different type of things because of the pressure trevor lawrence right now he thinks he's going to hit a hole shot we saw dak hit cd on a hole shot you're going out and up riley moss does a great job of showing to but turning and continuing to sink because he doesn't have another threat in that flat and this throw it's got to come out of his hands so he's expecting parker washington to be right in that hole but it was never a hole because riley moss continue to get back you get a better little look at this uh from the tv copy just a great job so Just look in this game.

2:40:37AQ Shipley:If you're watching this game at home, you got it in the four box. You're like, what the fuck is Trevor Lawrence doing? 21 is sitting right there. You threw it right between the two and the one. But 16 has to anticipate and kind of let this one rip and kind of believe it before he sees it. And just a great job by Riley Moss getting the reroute and he continuing to sink and helping the safety out and picking that thing off.

2:40:55Pat McAfee:Riley Moss, pretty trailblazing. Oh, yeah. Great player. Very athletic play there, too. Very super-duper athletic play. He's having a great year. Yeah, we did find another play that was super athletic on this field from the past. Darius V. Butler. Oh, yes. Oh, here it is. Right here. It's up here. It's up here. It's up here. Great man.

2:41:14AQ Shipley:Yeah, this was – no, this was Simeon. Forever Simeon is. I saw Manuel Sanders. Knew the bubble was coming. I actually was supposed to blitz on that play. Got the pick. And, yeah, this is – that would have been probably the best play of my career, honestly.

2:41:28Pat McAfee:Oh, no, and look at you. You can tell you're kind of – you know it. I was bummed out. Yeah. No, it's over.

2:41:34AQ Shipley:Dobber done. Dobber. He's jogged off the field, though, nice. I had to drop. I mean, look at this fucking catch, though. Are you kidding me? Great play. This would have – yeah, this would have – I mean, come on. Behind you, too. You're going forward. The ball's behind you. But, yeah, that thing – I mean, yeah, to your point, that's snipering. When that thing goes, it goes a bad, bad feeling. I probably could have cried down there like Caleb allegedly did. But, yeah.

2:41:57Pat McAfee:I mean, that's going to happen. He's going to happen. He's going to happen. Alleged. Now, on that note, D-Bot did say, or it has been said about D-Bot that he had great hands for a DB. Like, really good hands for a DB. That's what they would say.

2:42:09AQ Shipley:Yeah, I played wide out in college. Played both ways.

2:42:12Pat McAfee:What would they say, like, on the team your hands would be?

2:42:15AQ Shipley:We had Reggie Wayne. Unbelievable. So he should be in the Hall of Fame. I'd probably put him at one. At T.Y. Hilton, who we saw come up and become one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League. After that, it was pretty clearly me at that number three spot. Clearly? Yeah, we had some other good receivers, some good tight ends. We got a punter who's got to catch snaps. Every time he's on the field, yeah. Clearly, clearly me on top.

2:42:39Pat McAfee:Yeah, okay. I mean, you had to move when you were catching the ball, so that's certainly a little added difficulty, but there was a time that nobody wanted to see me on the jugs machine, AJ. Nobody.

2:42:48AQ Shipley:Nobody's ever snapped you that ball and you had to fucking.

2:42:51Pat McAfee:Really? No. Nobody's ever done that? No, fucking not Ovi. No. You're going to tell me. Listen, Ovi would never do that to me. Fourth down army? Except for the one time up high and to the right, had to make a little jump and grab. That is the most moving I have to do while I'm catching it. But, yeah, I think the running of routes and having to run and catch is just a whole other animal. I think that's like the athletic people who don't play wide receiver who have caught before. Like, hey, just run like an in real quick. And let's run at full speed. And then we'll have somebody push you a little bit.

2:43:22Pat McAfee:And then we'll have a quarterback put that thing on you and just poof. I mean, it's like always a holy shit, I'm running at ball and ball's coming. I struggled with that mightily when I was acting like I was a wide receiver and I had good hands. Like that fucker's coming real quick. And if you don't have immediate grasp, that thing's gone. And probably intercepted.

2:43:41AQ Shipley:You can't, yeah. At triple position, you can't drop the ball. It'll cost it. I can drop one and be, you know, third down. That's why he plays corn. Exactly. He'll go down and score. But catching the ball, definitely, I feel like it's more of like a natural skill. Obviously, you can work and you can get better at it. But even if we all got kids, like a certain thing, you can just toss some shit at your kids. And some of the kids just have just that natural hand-eye coordination. We had a player who was drafted in the top ten, wide receiver. Love him. Worked his ass off. Every day it would be 30 minutes, 45 minutes on the jug, two, two, two.

2:44:18AQ Shipley:And he just could never put it together when it came to catching that ball. I think it's just a natural thing that some people have in different sports and just life in general. And then others, you know, don't. Hey, Q, could you do it? You got good hands? I got good hands. I'm an athlete, man. Yeah, he's an athlete.

2:44:34Pat McAfee:I agree you're an athlete, too. Some people just beat the ball up. Yep. Catching a high, you know, high pass in a post. That's right. Putting it down. With short arms. Other hand. On hard tongue. No, he didn't do that on Nate Hardtongue. He did not do that on Nate Hardtongue. I got to find a film against Nate Hartung. I probably put up 22 and 12 against Nate Hartung. No way. I believe it. Okay, AJ believes it strictly because I think AJ over there in Ohio, he has also witnessed this type of build playing basketball at a very high level in high school. A.Q. Shipley, for those that don't know, Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Hall of Fame basketball player.

2:45:15AQ Shipley:I believe 22 and 12 too. Yeah. I want to be on record.

2:45:18Pat McAfee:Hartung, also a Hall of Famer, from my understanding. I think Hartung. Is he? You're telling me no. I would say yes. Same class. I would say yes, he certainly is. Here was A.Q. Shipley working to paint down underneath in high school. I think that's probably in the state championship game, no big deal. Did you guys win? Yeah, we won the state championship. 52-50 over Holy Ghost Prep, no big deal. How many did you score? I didn't have a good game that game. By the look of you taking it to the rack right here with a big smile on your face and barbed wire tat on your right arm. That's right. And you didn't have that barbed wire connect anywhere because you wanted the evil spirits to get trapped.

2:45:51I just loved that little low post move. I was as wide as I was tall, and all those 6 '6 skinny guys, they couldn't get around.

2:45:58Pat McAfee:Well, your elbow to the ribs. Just create a little space. Yeah, soft kiss off the glass. That's it. A little jump on Mike and Williamson before Zion. Yeah, he was a little bit like that. In all facets. Were you calling bank whenever you were chatty out there? Oh, yeah, I talked. I talked. I mean, but again, let's be very clear about something. The furthest shot I made in my entire high school career was maybe six feet. It's a different game back then. You're a hungry, hungry hippo underneath, huh? Just work that little circle right there. How are the boards? Boards pretty good? Boards are great.

2:46:30Pat McAfee:No, I was going to Zane Therese. Yeah, well, she also gets – I was kind of like her because I've missed three layups and there's three rebounds. Whoa. Oh, that is – That's not – Contested shots are always going to be missed, okay? That's right. That's going to happen in basketball. That's right. I do like the gimmick, though, kind of. I think if Baby Midas or McKenzie get into basketball, I'm not super against a miss to yourself, pick up a board and two points, you know, like every single time you're down there. I feel like she's kind of cracked the code a little bit. Get a couple of those, and then you get the and one.

2:47:01It's like three rebounds plus three points like that.

2:47:05Pat McAfee:One series. One series. Oh, that's what you did? Yeah, a lot. Hall of Famer. See, that's the way you got to play to win. That's right. You know what else you need to win? Good D. Bingo. D-Bot, is this the last good deal? We got two more. It's Devin Lloyd, though.

2:47:20AQ Shipley:He's on trajectory right now. I had a great year last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Five interceptions. Everybody kind of remembers that 99-yard pick six he had against Mahomes. This is him against Cooper Rush. Had two interceptions, nine tackles, and a sack in his game. He doesn't even pick this one off. He puts this one up in the air for Bobby Arike. Ocarike. Ocarike. And he gets the tip. We talk about tips and overthrows all the time. Does a great job here. If you can see this from the back copy, you'll see Cooper Rush kind of pat the ball and wait. But running back one more time, Fox, from the top, I just want you to see how patient he is in his own cover.

2:47:53AQ Shipley:This guy doesn't even move. But John Robinson, he's down here. He's going to widen this line back at the bottom, Bobby, and kind of go run his angle route. If Cooper lets this rip. He still has yet to move. Still has to move. If he lets this rip, like while he's probably on the bottom of that wing or whatever it is, the logo, he maybe gets it. Maybe it's completion, but for some reason, he kind of fucking pats that ball, doesn't let it go, and that's just enough for him to come flat on that break. Talk about getting to your spot. He got there late, came flat, created a tip, and created, obviously, the interception.

2:48:25AQ Shipley:But just see patient, boom, underneath the fender, you're reading the quarterback's eyes. And if you run it back from this copy, if he just lets this rip, like talked about that Brock Purdy thing, anticipating, that's got to come out of your hands right now, right to number seven, maybe on the back hips. That little hesitation getting to that throw is what caused this interception and made it obviously not a completion.

2:48:45Pat McAfee:That's why it's impossible to be an NFL quarterback, AJ. Your windows are fleeting and very small. And if you don't, a guy that hasn't moved somehow, the patience there is outrageous, AJ. I don't know if that's a technique or something or what he's looking for, but windows are so small, especially with Devin Lloyd out there. Yeah, I think he's doing a good job. He's staying underneath of number three. You see he's underneath that route going over top of him. Then he's breaking on intention. and man, you're right, that little hitch is what caused this turnover. This would have been a completion for 10, 12, 15 yards.

2:49:15Who knows if he doesn't have that hitch.

2:49:16Pat McAfee:Breaking on intention, that's something you obviously coach or taught? Yeah, as the quarterback is taking his hand off the ball, boom. We're breaking now because they say, oh, what if he double pumps? Well, if he double pumps, we better get a sack. Oh, yeah, hey, that's not on me. That's on somebody else. You know what? He got us, if that's the case. And then that's why the no look is such a big deal.

2:49:35AQ Shipley:Yes.

2:49:35Pat McAfee:Because you're breaking on intention and eyes are one way, and then all of a sudden that's going a different direction.

2:49:40AQ Shipley:Absolutely.

2:49:40Pat McAfee:Cooper Cush is going to bust that out next time he gets in. We might not see Cooper Cush.

2:49:44AQ Shipley:Yeah, we might not see him back on the field for the Falcons at least.

2:49:47Pat McAfee:They're calling him a lot of names. Yeah, they're calling him for him. Mussolini. No, it's just him. There's another one, too. Pooper Rush. They're also calling him. Adolph. Cooper Adolph Rush, yeah. They're saying that. Dude, I'm telling you, right now on the internet, with what's all possible, because you can even, what, you could type in, I mean, you've always been able to Google things. You know, so like the, I don't fully understand the difference between like Googling and the advancing of Googling. Something that has kind of been taking place with, you know, like the chat GPTs and the clods and the, what are the other ones?

2:50:25Pat McAfee:There's another one in there.

2:50:26AQ Shipley:Those are the big ones.

2:50:27Pat McAfee:Somewhere. But people can Google or chat or clod. Hey, what's a funny way to make fun of So now they're getting options on how to make fun of it. And then they're able to take that to something else. So like the amount of resources now to research burying people also at a pretty high level. So this goes back to what we were talking about earlier where we got people that got access to things that have a great brain. Yeah, we've seen the great brains on the internet for a long, long time. And now they're getting a lot of different options to assist them. And they're doing it. Cooper Cush is certainly on the receiving end of some of that, I will say.

2:51:03Pat McAfee:Me as well, obviously. Who else is on the receiving end of that? Mike McCarthy most recently. They're coming after him. Yeah. Shane Steichen, Chris Ballard. Yeah, any coach GM, really. That loses. Yeah, they'll get the Gillis treatment. Oh, yeah. They've been turning him into Shane Gillis. Dan Campbell. Yeah, it's not just Shane Gillis they're turning people into. No. Which, by the way, would be a compliment if you're Shane Gillis. I think that would be a good news. Season three of Tires are really good on Netflix, available now. Dan Campbell's getting it right now?

2:51:32AQ Shipley:He was. He probably still is. On Friday after that Thursday night game he was, and then on Sunday after the Bears, Ben Johnson was turned into Shane Gillis. Yeah, he got Gillis. Really? Yeah. I'm sure whoever loses. Did he get Osama'd? I have not seen him get Osama Bin yet, no. Just been Ballard. Okay.

2:51:53Pat McAfee:We already talked about Ballard in quotes. We've moved on. We were up in the NFC North. Thank you, Gumby, for reminding that. But, yeah, Chris Bowden, Shane Steichen have been. Osama Bin. I know what's coming for Stefanski I mean he'll be a Stalin-Stefanski pretty quick I think a lot of that is probably already happening I mean the Atlanta Twitter really good really really good I mean they all angles things that you think to yourself wow that is pretty terrible and then they go yeah think about it though and you're like yeah I guess it kind of does make sense with what's going on down there. How many years until they're good?

2:52:34Pat McAfee:Pennix is good. Forgot about that. Their offensive line is very good. Pijon's good. Yeah. Drake London. They spent like$200 million on guys. By all accounts, they should be good. The NFL thought they were going to be good. Yeah. Three prime time games. Straight. Okay, so Pennix is going to get there.

2:52:55AQ Shipley:Yeah.

2:52:56Pat McAfee:But just know the internet right now is swinging a hot bat. Let's go to our final good D from the Super Bowl champions.

2:53:01AQ Shipley:Back to the Super Bowl champs. I feel like they've been on a lot of these breakdowns for good reasons. Once again, presenting a two-high shell now. So now it's the opposite. You're not presenting a single high. You're presenting a two-high. And then it's going to go to a single high. Julian Love now, back-to-back weeks where he's had an interception. Kind of baited Drake May into one last week out of the post. He kind of shaded to that number three spot. Now here, Jacoby Brissett sees the rotation late. So now he sees a single high. When you get a single high, you know you've got a one-on-one on the outside.

2:53:29AQ Shipley:So he's going to go to his one-on-one. This is five rushers, so that's going to be three underneath, three deep once again. And let's get to this one-on-one. As a deep post safety, you're keying that quarterback. So just like the underneath defenders, the deep zone defenders are doing the same thing. Once again, that pressure has that clock ticking for Jacoby Brissett. He get hit as he throws the ball, and he does a great job catching this ball. We saw Javon Holland get one on the sideline for the Giants almost just like this. But this is an unbelievable catch for anybody, but especially a DB back there.

2:53:59Pat McAfee:How about the finger strength down there, AJ, for that ball not to move off the ground or even touch the ground? You know, because I think the rule now is it's allowed to touch the ground, but it can't enhance or change the ball movement or whatever. His left finger strength is absurd, AJ Hawk. Yeah, the fact that he was – like, I know they were – they probably did not think this was going to stand up, but I remember watching this in real time thinking, like, how in the world did he get – you're right, that left hand. This dude, you might want to test his hand strength. Like, this guy might be the strongest hands in the league.

2:54:27Pat McAfee:Yeah, do one of those grip strength things. Yeah. One of those little handy things. You know, I guess it works out, and this is why you lift all them hand things. That's right. So you can have this moment right here. Just an absurd catch from a DB. Absolutely. You were just talking about this, but this is two weeks in a row now.

2:54:42AQ Shipley:Yeah, two weeks in a row you go down and make an incredible catch just on a money down. And it's not like – Kobe got hit as he was throwing his ball. Once again, you're going to go – you got Mike Wilson out there, who one-on-one you're going to take that shot once you have that post safety. But him getting hit, the pressure, you know, you're sending five, So you want some pressure. Whenever you send five, you're going to lose one in coverage. So for him to take advantage of this, get home, is another reason why, a big reason why the Seattle Seahawks are now, you know, 12 consecutive wins, 2-0, even without their starting quarterback.

2:55:11AQ Shipley:It's always a team effort. Did a great job disguising pre-snap, getting it post-snap, and then execute. You can do all this shit as a DB. If you don't finish it and make this play, it's a punt. You flip it. Now your offense has to go the long way. Instead, Julian Love does a great job reading his keys, keying the quarterback, and then putting that foot in the ground. It's like a combine drill if you just watch them. Boom, flip the hips, get them back, come flat, and then make an unbelievable catch. And now your offense has the ball with the backup quarterback at the plus 45-yard line.

2:55:36Pat McAfee:You said 12 straight wins for them? Yep. We watched Hard Knocks. It was pretty obvious why, wasn't it? Just like their entire culture, tough, hard, dialed in. They like each other. Yep. I really liked what I saw from the Seattle Seahawks Hard Knocks. Everybody should be trying to bottle that, get into their building. Ain't that right, Ty? Yeah, but I think we – of course everyone should try to do that. There are very few teams that can actually do that. It also seems like the truly great teams, like the elite teams, are the ones who are capitalizing on those plays and actually getting interceptions.

2:56:04And most of the teams who are kind of just, you know, like he's never converting that. You're punting back to him, and then your offense isn't doing anything with it. And it feels like they always put themselves in this position.

2:56:15Pat McAfee:That's a McDonald team, it seems like. Three years in right now? Yeah. We already know his culture. We already know what he likes, what he doesn't like, how he's going to play. What a start for him and Seattle. Congrats on our new owner. Yeah. Just inherits a team that's won 12 – well, didn't inherit. Paid mightily for a team that has won 12 straight games. That's a lot better than where you could be, losing nine straight. Yeah, worth it. It's a hard-ass league. It's a freaking hard-ass league. You know what else is hard? That good D segment. Yeah. That's hard, dude. Appreciate you. That was hard, dude.

2:56:52Pat McAfee:That was hard. Good, good, D. Mm-hmm. Now, can we do something that is also freaking hard-ass as well?

2:57:01JJ Watt:Mm-hmm.

2:57:03Pat McAfee:A.Q. Shipley, would you like to try to win some money for some people as the universe spoke directly through that baseball and said we're going to be A-OK for the rest of the season? Is that baseball season or football season? We don't know. But what we do know is if you're able to throw one of these final footballs that are up here into that hoop right over there, you would win 20 people$500. You're A.Q. How do you feel, AJ, about AQ's chances, especially because we highlighted his bucket-getting career back in the day just a few moments ago? I feel very good about AQ draining this first shot.

2:57:31I know there's a second ball on stage. I don't think we're going to need it.

2:57:34Pat McAfee:There's also a third, it appears. Yeah, there is. I could have went for those. Instead, I realized in real time I was powering through balls for the AQ Shipley throw at the end. But he doesn't need anything more than one. Ain't that right, D-Bot? Just needs one. Ty, anything to say to Western Pennsylvania the Interscholastic Athletic League Basketball Hall of Famer before he attempts to win 20 people$500? Just pretend like you're back in that gym in Moontownship doing a mic and drill before one of your bag of ball games. Put this thing in the hoop. I like to hear that. Just like that. Just like that.

2:58:05Pat McAfee:We don't need you to be getting any of your me-bounds, okay? Don't be doing that. We need you to put it in the bucket. 20 people could win$500 if Penn State Nittany Lion legend A.Q. Shipley, who's a Super Bowl champion, can put that NFL flag football, which is delightful. Yeah. It's nice. It's a nice one. Truly. Into that hoop right over there.

2:58:28Pat McAfee:Oh, great. Yeah, you've had a couple great lines. I don't know if you expected it to kind of have that under like kind of drop off, but I thought that thing was going to land nicely. Like one of those Osprey helicopters. Right there. I thought that was in. Do you want another opportunity? Yep. Hold on, though. Should we set precedent here? Is it just once a week for AQ and for Chuck tomorrow? Or do we provide more options? Chuck got to. Well, and it's tough because Chuck ain't making it on the first time. We've seen a couple of Chuck's throws. Chuck ain't hitting the fucking backboard on his first throw a lot of the time.

2:59:09So Chuck needs more than one.

2:59:10AQ Shipley:Yeah, you give those sandbagging kids extra shots too on the weekend.

2:59:13Pat McAfee:Well, I can't really get out of those situations. We are certainly open to ideas on how we do that one. I think this week will be a little different than the last two weeks. Yes. I think you'll see a little. Just do it like drugs. Just say no, okay? This is a DARE program. This isn't charity, okay? Amen. Or maybe have a full operation and have Stanford Steve rifle a snap back there. There we go. They're taking advantage of you, man. They still got to make the kick. Okay. Fucking make it figure it out. Where are you finding these guys? Yeah. They're unbelievable. UXFL? Remember Baton Rouge? There was a miss.

2:59:48Pat McAfee:You know, Herbie sent me a text. Herbie was like, what's going on? Are we changing something here? This can't just be what this is, right? And I go, guy at Baton Rouge missed. He goes, oh, yeah, that's right. Guy did. It was right online, though, if you recall. So it's the first 300 people that get there to College Game Day. People are waiting in line days for this, obviously. It's making sense why they're doing it. They get a ticket. Then during one of the commercial breaks, I forget which one, Jen Lada, Jess Sims, and DJ Griff do the random selection. Person stands up. Hey, this is me. They have to have an ID on them because we have to verify that they're older than 18, obviously, because everything that takes place.

3:00:24Pat McAfee:Then there's a liability waiver that is signed. And then kind of it's, here we go. Now you've got an opportunity. But, yeah, it's the first 300. And it does feel like a lot of soccer players are just going to be the first 300 guys in there or ex-soccer players, which is a good gimmick. I respect them doing that. But we will have to make some adjustments, you know, to make sure it is entertaining and not just an easy kick every single week. Some of these guys, though, like him, should think about maybe doing a little bit of practice. Effortless. And actually going and trying to kick because you can make more than just$1 million off of kicking.

3:00:55Pat McAfee:Good chip shot. If you were to be pretty good at this, you could – Kim was good. Barefoot. Yeah. Better than Conor. Conor hit a great ball lefty. I liked Conor a lot. This guy, that was like a 50 % swing. I was going to say, it felt like if he actually really went after it, he could have made a 50-yard field goal. Well, I think that one would have been good from 50. But I also think like if he learned how to actually kick, I think he'd be able to, because that was not like a kicker's motion. No. Connor had a kicker motion. He followed up and threw a point in his toe. He was just like a soccer player that was just kind of chopping that thing, just trying to do like one of those.

3:01:28Pat McAfee:You see the boys passing the ball long to each other. So there's like, oh, and it's like a backspin. That's what he did to the football right there. That's nowhere near like as hard as you can kick a ball. So I think this kid actually, if he was to work a little bit.

3:01:43JJ Watt:First try to.

3:01:44Pat McAfee:Yeah, could probably figure it out how to do it. I was very impressed. And I assume, AJ, just like after week one, there were some people that are potentially trying to get this guy's info to be like, hey, do you just want to give it a go, bro? If you can make a kick for a million bucks, we assume you'll be able to maybe knock one down in the third quarter that we've been missing over the last couple weeks. It's a wild time out there. If you can drain a kick here, I mean, this is as pressure-packed as a kick as you're going to have. Yeah, I mean, that's a tight little tunnel, too. I mean, he could shank that, hit somebody in the face.

3:02:11Pat McAfee:I mean, a lot of people saying they're hustling me, they're hustling me, they know how to kick. It's like they still got to make the kick. Oh, yeah. You know, like kids that are kicking on Saturdays and Sundays, the dudes that kick on Sunday, they know how to kick, too, and they miss it. That's what's so impressive about this guy. First kick, steps right up, million bucks on the line, let me go ahead and deliver for the lads. Then goes and sprints to the boys in the back, which I respect and appreciate. But it was a fun one there. He was certainly a fun one. Very hot. We're going to have to change it a little bit, though.

3:02:39Pat McAfee:Need a rush. Live rush. I agree. Stanford Steve. Pete Thamel. Put a helmet on him, though. Maybe Pete Thamel on Stanford Steve's shoulders.

3:02:48AQ Shipley:There we go. Perfect. Or better yet, Pete Thamel trying to block Stanford Steve. How about that? Yeah. Ooh. Not bad. Pete Thamel snaps the curve. Yeah, there we go. Now we're talking.

3:03:00Pat McAfee:And then Stanford Steve. See ya. Yeah, but what if Pete like chopped it or something, blew out both of Stanford Steve's knees? Can you FaceTime Pete Thamel? It's part of the game. Yeah, exactly. Chalk it up. Can you please FaceTime Pete Thamel just so we can get – Other guys in a wheelchair the next week, double ACL tear. He'd still be able to – Thamel's a tough son of a bitch. He said he'd not my Achilles. He damn near did. Stanford Steve's – he's in a room, better vibes in room. I mean, he's on the road eight days a week right now. Just football, football, football, football, football. He's doing a podcast, what, 1 a.m.

3:03:37Pat McAfee:after Saturday's college football games? On site after doing all of game day with Scott Van Pelt. Then we're traveling to Monday Night Football. Then we're on Monday Night Football. Then we're doing Tuesday at this place. So we're going home for a day. Then now we're doing college game day. We've got to walk through at the practice. We've got to get his next game. He is, Stanford Steve's doing ball. And he is in an incredible vibe every time. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is the authority of college sports as a whole, Pete Thamel. Pete! Well, hello, Pete. Hello, Pat. Looking ready. Okay, so I see you have your hoodie on there for the college game day, another celebration.

3:04:10Pat McAfee:We had our 500th road show to kick off this particular season. You've obviously been batting 1 ,000. The kickers have also damn near been batting 1 ,000. So the last two weeks, obviously, big kicks have been made. This kid makes it on the first try. Beautiful. I think he should actually think about getting into kicking maybe if he wanted to commit his life to it. But the boys and I have been spitballing about how we add another element to this thing, you know, to make it a little bit more difficult. Now that we have found out that mostly soccer players are camping out early to be able to get the things to be able to kick.

3:04:41Pat McAfee:The thought was maybe you long snap to Herbie and then block Stanford Steve, who's coming in to block the kick. Any thoughts on that? Just first response as you hear about this brand new idea. so i have a lot of respect for the long snapping and the actual art of it pat and i've learned a lot about special teams from you and you you've given like these long speeches in the office about some of the nuances of special teams it's really been interesting for me as someone who didn't play football to learn a lot about that i think i would be very poor at snapping um and i also think the physics of me versus stanford steve not great it would be a little bit like trying to match up with stanford steve at the hotel bar always a dangerous thing to do right So yeah, so I would just think generally, generally that sounds like if you wanted the kicks to not be made, that would be a very good ruse to try to protect your wallet.

3:05:35Okay, good, bingo. To have me be in charge of two key pieces of it, yeah.

3:05:40Pat McAfee:Okay, so, but you would do it if we did ask and say, hey, this is what we think is the right thing for the good of the kick. Yeah, anything for the show, Pat. You know, I'm a team player, so yeah. I would have to get some snapping lessons probably. Shoulder pads. Full pads. Yeah. Full pads. Eye black. Helmet.

3:05:59AQ Shipley:Huge thigh pads. Suit on. Yeah.

3:06:01Pat McAfee:I think suit on. Yes. Shoulder pads over top. Correct. Snapped in. Tie hanging. Yep. Helmet on. And I do think thigh pads on the suit pants on the outside of them. Yeah. Thigh pads. I'm sorry. Hip pads as well. The big ones. Yeah. Girdle over the top of the pants. Tail pad. Yeah. Tail pad on the belt. Mm-hmm. Thanks for that girdle, Connor. Appreciate that. No problem. No problem. Maybe football pants with his suit pants coming out the bottom of him. Oh, football pants on top. Yeah, that's a good idea. Cleans. Yeah, I like that. Double XO jock. Yep. Obviously. And we're just going to keep it moving.

3:06:37Pat McAfee:All right, we appreciate you, ladies and gentlemen. That's the authority beat there. Thank you, baby. Figure it out. If you would like to protect your banking or your wallet, that would certainly be a good idea to have me two parts of this. Half of the time. At least one week. Him coming out in full pads. Everything, yeah. Have to do it at least one week. We have pitched a lot of ideas for Pete, have we not? Yeah. They haven't all been used. Which is a shame. He's got to wear Rex specs under his helmet, too, obviously. Oh, I like that. Like hot rod. I like that, like hot rod. Him wearing shoulder pads on top of his suit.

3:07:12Pat McAfee:Would be awesome. Cowboy collar, all of it. Football pants on top of his suit pants. His baggy suit pants coming out the bottom. With the old school, the belt with the pads. Yep. Yes, definitely. Somebody AI, man. When kids wear the full sweats under their stuff, yeah, when it's cold. Yes, exactly, under the shorts. You know, they wear the shorts with the sweats. Yeah, we're thinking like that. Because we do assume, I'm not going to take a shot that everybody else will take, but we assume this football pants will probably be a little baggy. Yeah. Oh, Pete? Depends who makes them. No. No, he's got a dunk.

3:07:44AQ Shipley:I mean, it's got to be Nike pants.

3:07:47Pat McAfee:Hey, Adidas is going to the national championship. That's what Adidas is. True.

3:07:51AQ Shipley:You heard Herbie. You're going to like those baggy-ass Adidas pins. And now they're done with them.

3:07:55Pat McAfee:Bro, he was saying that Miami, many schools took an Adidas deal that's gigantic and they've been having success, like Indiana, where I believe one of the higher-ups went to school. Good for them. Both based in Portland or Oregon. Adidas? And Nike. Oh, God. Both based out of Oregon. Do we know that? No. I thought Adidas was. Okay, so Adidas used to have like regional shit here in America. It was headquartered in Europe. So it was like Adidas Northeast, Adidas Southeast, Adidas this, Adidas this. It was kind of like licensing, like car dealerships from my understanding of what Adidas was. Then it all became one person ended up getting the mall and became Adidas USA or whatever it is.

3:08:34Pat McAfee:And I think that person was either at Nike before or had been at Nike before. So already lived up there, had it all said. Makes sense. Leave, buy it, create it. Then it becomes Adidas USA. And then it's like, who's in charge of running that company is like the one deciding what they're investing their money in. So I think one of the newer people that is in charge at Adidas USA likes American football, which is why there has been a lot of focus on getting into American football, where it had previously been football and basketball and other sports because that's the person. So I think Adidas is trying their best with this particular leadership, especially some of the people I've talked to.

3:09:12Pat McAfee:We know American football is where we live. Can't they go Adidas? Yeah. Huge. Huge deal. Huge deal, right? 10 for 300. Yeah, like they are trying to. I think Adidas is trying their best to get back into football or get into football in a big way. And then Herbie's out there going, they're fucking bullshit. Keep them out of here. I'm like, oh, Herbie, Herbie, Herbie. I think they're trying to get into this sport. They need to figure it out. I'm sick of looking at these pants the way they have. And that's real. It's just like when you were click clacking, like Under Armour got into football. We like any company that's investing big into football.

3:09:42Pat McAfee:It's obviously good. But those first, what, four pairs of cleats? They were trying to figure out what cleats were at that time. I'm not saying that's happening with Adidas, but kind of. They're just still trying to. Nike is dialed. Absolutely doubt.

3:09:55AQ Shipley:They just lost a big, big fish.

3:09:58Pat McAfee:Who? Mbappe. Mbappe? Mbappe? Went to On Cloud. On Cloud. Roger? Good for Fed. That's Roger Federer, right? Yeah, it is. Good for Fed.

3:10:09AQ Shipley:He's going to have on-cloud cleats? Well, he's been wearing Nike cleats, and he's just been, like, whiting them out or whatever. And then, so Nike actually released the whited-out version of his cleat, like, the next day or week, which I thought was a great move. So he'll probably still be wearing Nike until they – he's been in the lab with Thierry Henry, because he's also with on-cloud as well.

3:10:32Pat McAfee:Thierry Henry? Yeah, he's an on-cloud athlete as well? Yep, him too. Okay. That's a dictator. How about Zlatan Iberhimović? Is he also an on cloud? I'm not sure. Nike. Teyre Henry and Zlatan were very well together. They were. I mean, that little juggling thing. It was unbelievable. It was sick. It was unreal. Yeah, it was really good. Everybody was like, Lexi Law, she looks stupid. It's like, you know how many people Teyre Henry has made look stupid with a fucking soccer ball? A lot. Little Lexi Law's going, oh, is that coming to me? No, it's not. Fuck, why are we starting a video with that? Yep, got to do it.

3:11:03Pat McAfee:And then they start doing their little fucking gimmicks. They're old men, too. Those guys are retired. Oh, yeah. That's what football needs Why don't you guys have those two on TV What are we doing? I thought we had it figured out They did for the World Cup That was it, Zlatan retired Thierry Henry's on for Champions League On CBS Sports He's with Grella No, different crew He's with Jamie Carragher Liverpool legend And Micah Richards Manchester City legend Oh yeah, I remember we asked for Thierry Henry to come on the show. Somebody told them they were all coming on the show. Not us. We had zero interaction with them.

3:11:44Pat McAfee:And then whenever it was our understanding that we didn't have enough chairs for everybody because we didn't know they were coming on, we were the terrible people. Do you remember that happening? I like their moxie of that show, though. Great show. It's a good show. They should have Grella in there. Oh, this is the video, yeah. Deep. That's how our kickabouts used to look. Yeah. I mean, in suits. They should have just did this for the entire World Cup coverage. Just let her go. Oh, sweet. Andrew, how many of these could you do, you think? I mean, I'm just thinking of how bad my knee would hurt how they're checking this ball up in the air.

3:12:20These guys are still very flexible.

3:12:22Pat McAfee:Yeah, still very flexible, still in great shape. Do they still play? Are these guys in celebrity games or anything, Gumpsh? Zlatan will do some random stuff, but Thierry doesn't really play much. Zlatan's workout videos are crazy. does like crossfit and handstands and shit yeah i mean that's a lot on isn't it he retired until next world cup coverage or he just said he's done forever i imagine he said i'm retired i'm done forever just so in the next one it'll be uh even bigger deal for because the world cup rights are up no one knows who's gonna have them good for his lot on he's playing it right we already miss him on tv and none of us are watching soccer right now no none of us never will what yeah no way next world cup i thought we're back it's week three i'd rather watch 17 games of case keenum than watch more soccer nations league starts tomorrow pretty massive tournament yeah of course it is

3:13:11JJ Watt:every massive england and spain on saturday uh cause them you see cause them across the bottom

3:13:15Pat McAfee:there was sponsoring that i didn't know cause them was sponsoring their set over there i met the guy who did cause them didn't they say aren't isn't one supposed to be coming to indy downtown yeah one was in detroit i think one of their rest just opened in detroit yeah they're about to put one right in uh where that indiana fever facility is going half of it is a cosm okay so the guy that aj he'd love this guy's name is jeb j-e-b my favorite bush please clap he um he is absolutely jacked the guy that wrote that started causing good energy too absolutely good energy i just asked him how much it would cost sure for me to turn one in there he gave me the realistic price and i go jesus christ and he started explaining like yeah these are really, really good LED.

3:13:59High-tech facility. Yeah, we got really good stuff. Whatever it is, it's fucking worth it. It's unbelievable. Yeah, those shit's crazy.

3:14:05Pat McAfee:Incredible. You're there, you know? Like, so many people can't get to either their teams whenever you're not in town or maybe the ticket pricing is so crazy. For them to set up a movie theater-like experience, an all-indulging, I guess, experience, and it's like you were there. The cameras that they have placed, he actually pointed, he was like, ah, camera right there, camera right there, camera right there, and then he just kind of switched through it. I've seen videos from what? Football games, basketball games, hockey games, and then WWE, they're even on like one of the posts, I believe, whenever they're going in.

3:14:33Pat McAfee:It's dope. Yeah, they're doing it all. And I think they're only trying to grow. Brilliant concept. Brilliant concept, especially modern technology. Huge investment though. I mean, this LED board was, this is what? One hundredth of whatever a Cosm is, maybe one two hundredth of what a Cosm is, the amount of space, maybe a thousand. I don't know what the case is, but do you think about the sphere and then what caused them is just like a mini or sphere right it's kind of how they have it everywhere yeah i think it's a good idea this is a good it also gets people out which i like community experiences i like people getting out and living a little bit and jeb good energy but absolutely jacked i gave him a pat on the back for the traps clearly shrugging his way through some things yeah he's a bunch of good energy i mean he was super pumped gotta get you in one of these things you got it jeb no problem jeb barton terry jr american former professional football player okay selected by the bucks in the fifth round of the 2004 nfl draft played college football for the tar heels he played for culver military academy at the high school level terry was also a member of the san francisco 49ers now cause him so football guy of course makes sense still yoked still yoked which i appreciate him still getting after it and i like when football people are doing it just like pat murphy yeah the milwaukee brewers that's right he's formerly a football coach right he was yeah then gets in a baseball coach and says this is easy now he's riling the boys his first two before he went to notre dame and coached he was at like two different d3 colleges where he was the head uh baseball coach and an assistant football coach at both places so aaron judge is not playing baseball anymore at least not in the wild card round uh because they thought they could still win the division he came back he should have just been dh and he was playing the field he got a calf strain so he's gonna be out for a little bit but you did make that uh baseball throw so there's maybe a chance he does play in the wild card round yeah we don't know what's coming from that baseball universe toss uh skeno did come out and talk a little bit about how his

3:16:23AQ Shipley:season has gone and i don't like this d but i don't know if you've heard i have not would he just take complete ownership and just say hey you're gonna figure it out because i'm a guy

3:16:36Pat McAfee:he he certainly made the toxic table feel very good about themselves what happened ty if you could kind of explain. Yeah, he kind of just said that he thinks the dip in velocity and some of the other issues that he may have had this year potentially did stem from competing in the World Baseball Classic. He said that? He did. That's what he told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. And he said he was the only one there, right? No, he said he thinks a lot of guys may have been affected by it. You look at some of these other guys who got hurt or maybe just got off to really slow starts or maybe just never started at all.

3:17:08That can happen sometimes when you play in a tournament before your actual season that you're getting paid a bunch of money starts. Did the international players have the same issues? Good question. I don't know, and I don't give a shit. No, I know. I'm just curious. I know he said that. Oh, you know what? Actually, yeah. Austin Wells, who is a white guy. He's Dominican. Who played for the Dominican. He's the Yankees catcher, and he's had the worst season of his career by far. Fernando Tatis Jr. didn't hit a home run for six months. Well said. How did Mike Guerrero Jr. do this year? Not great.

3:17:48I think he hit like 12 homers. He's making like$500 million. O 'Neal Cruz missed a lot of games for the Pirates as well. Juan Soto got hurt. Contreras did bang up for the Red Sox. And the tournament. So now that you bring it up, yeah, a lot of the international guys, they had issues as well. I know the U.S. guys did. Yeah. Oh, Vinny Pasquantino to Pasquatch, a guy who we love. Italy. Yeah, started for Team Italy. He didn't have a great year either, and I believe it was a contract year for him. And I think he's probably saying, God damn, I wish I wouldn't have fucking played in the World Baseball Classic.

3:18:20Pat McAfee:I would like to go back in time, though. I had so much fun at the World Baseball Classic. Oh, no, no, yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. Hindsight now, though, fuck that thing. I'm done with it. I hope they never play it again. You're done with the entire World Baseball Classic? Without a doubt. What? USA's going to just roll out who's going to play for us. We're not entering the competition.

3:18:36AQ Shipley:High school kids. Don't we have? This is an MVP. Didn't he play? Didn't PCA play? Well, he did. But if you remember, he maybe didn't start a couple of the games after being one of the only fucking guys who was hitting, you know. And that one might have been on D-Row.

3:18:53Pat McAfee:So D-Row actually saved him maybe by not playing him in the World Baseball Classic, even though we all really wanted him to be on the diamond, especially if we're going to win the title. Con, man, it feels like you've been pretty heavy on this World Baseball Classic's the root of all evil because of Tony Tony's boy how he got injured as well. Yeah, I'd roam into that list. I mean, we knew. But once again, baseball fucking sucks. Okay? I'm excited for Tuesday. This will be awesome for sure. So many of those guys we just listed is the biggest ah-hoo kiss. You know? At the end of the day, Yankee sucks in the first round.

3:19:27It's going to be cool no matter what. You know? Actually brutal judge can't play. Like, the guys who are going to be in the playoffs that can't play, that's ridiculous. But oh no, no WBC, whatever. Same thing with soccer almost, but I'm excited for the playoffs. I think it'll be really, really fun. And now we do know that if you have a player on your own team playing in the WBC, maybe hope D-Row benches him because then they'll win the MVP like PCA. I do like that we're not blaming D-Row anymore, though, for this. I don't want to do that. Yeah, me neither. I mean, he took enough heat. He took a lot of heat.

3:20:01And when he lays his head down at night, he knows, like, God, I fucked up so many guys in their seats. He did it. It's the classic we're talking about, not him, right? I think they maybe share equal blame. No way. Him, Albert Pujols. Yeah, Pujols. Some of the other coaches of the teams, they probably think, I don't know who coached Italy. Miggy? You could throw Miggy in there. Miggy. I'm assuming they all.

3:20:28Pat McAfee:So we got no baseball next year, and we got no World Baseball Classic in your eyes. what are we supposed to do? Well, I don't know. Watch Savannah Bananas. Let's watch the bananas and enjoy that these guys are pulling the penises out of their baseball pants every fucking chance. Savannah Bananas. Every chance. They're not doing that. Like McConaughey and Kimmel. That is not what they do. I heard about that at the Emmys. That is not what the... Classic McConaughey. Classic. Just trying to help with me. Nice guy. Savannah Bananas, though, that is not what they do. You need to know that. You need to make sure you clarify.

3:20:55That's what I've been told. That's what I've heard. No, it's the bananas.

3:20:58Pat McAfee:That's the name of the team. It's not like they're showing their bananas. No, but I heard that's why they're called the bananas, because these guys love un-cheathing their bananas every day. It's a family-friendly environment. Very family. I went to a game. It was awesome. It was a fan-first type of environment. That's what they're looking for. They have a cosmic baseball, too, so I guess it's not just bananas. We could do the cosmic baseball next year as well. No, thanks. I'll stick with the MLB. I'll stick with watching regular baseball, and if they're not going to play, I'll stand in solidarity with the players, and I won't be watching either.

3:21:27Pat McAfee:What about college baseball? When does that happen? College baseball. I'll pay attention to that around College World Series. Outside of that, you know, whatever. It starts way too early. It starts in March. It's cold outside. We're in the Midwest. I mean, there's fucking snow. I don't like watching baseball when there's fucking snow on the ground. We might not be watching any baseball next year. Yeah, there's a chance. But what does the Dodgers – I mean, we'll get to the bottom of it when it has to happen. Yeah, I mean, I don't fucking know. I mean, the guy's a fucking crook. You know, what else is there to say?

3:21:59Bottom line He's a lying, cheating bastard And he's going to go to jail for a long, long time Because of it And now we're not going to have a baseball season And it's all that son of a bitch It's all his fault And I hate saying that Because he was born and raised in Cedar Rapids Was he? Iowa's got another one Exactly, he's an Iowa guy Very successful Lying, cheating, scumbag, but very successful

3:22:27Pat McAfee:He changed baseball pretty good. He did. I mean, he was just, so he didn't have any of that money. No, just an absolute fraudster through and through. Dodger Senator Mark Walter has been sued by a class action law firm on behalf of a senior citizen who bought an annuity from Delaware Life earlier this year. The lawsuit seeks damages for negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, and aiding and abetting fraud. There's people looking into it. Wait, is my money going to the Dodgers? That's high finance, baby. You got to watch out for it. Might have a new field house downtown. I think he owns Cambridge.

3:23:01Does he really? Yeah.

3:23:03Pat McAfee:So does anybody own that? That's kind of the question now. He's got his hands and everything. Truly does. Loved sports. Just couldn't wait to get involved in sports. Yeah, loved fucking taking old people's money and buying sports teams with it. Show A with Donnie. Crazy. Iowa guy. Goddamn right. Cedar Rapids guy. Iowa guy, though. Yeah. Where's Cedar Rapids at? It's about an hour from where I'm from. Where are you from? Waterloo. Anybody else that I would know? We've been over this. John Wayne Gacy, who you're trying to act like is from Waterloo, did live there. They found him in Des Plaines, Illinois.

3:23:42And that's where they were like, oh, wow, this guy's fucking killing a bunch of people, being weird, sodomizing guys. Terrible guy. Yeah, being a weirdo. That's where he was arrested.

3:23:52Pat McAfee:Not in Waterloo. We watched a documentary on this man who was one of the worst serial killers of all time. And we were doing this show. It was quite a surprise to hear he was from Ty's exact hometown. Yeah, no doubt. He actually lived on the same street that my grandma and grandpa lived on for like 50 years. So that was, you know, pretty eye-opening. Crazy. Let's keep our heads on a swivel out there. He did invent the Chicken Little from KFC, though. So if you ever enjoyed one of those, you can fucking have him to thank for that.

3:24:22AQ Shipley:It's a good little nugget It's a great sandwich I don't know if he had anything to do to add The piece of cheese on it, the piece of American cheese That was a big revolutionary move But he did He did work at the KFC though

3:24:35Pat McAfee:Oh yeah, that was actually his final meal on death row Was Carl's original recipe Thank you, great work this week Thanks for traveling out here Thanks for having me Do you know who John Wayne Gacy is? So, it's the monster Netflix, right? I haven't watched it, but probably. The clown. He dressed up like the clown. There's a new monster. I think he was second season. There's a new monster out called Lizzie Burden or something like that. Lizzie Burden, sure. There it is. There it is. I just started that. She's the axe murderer. Yep. Lizzie? Yeah, sicko. So, there's something else going on. Lizzie Clancy?

3:25:16Pat McAfee:Is that her name? Lizzie? Lindsay, I think, yeah. People have strong feelings about that. I don't even know what's going on with it. Yeah, just stay away from that. Me too. I've seen it pop up. Had a lot of headlines. A lot of headlines.

3:25:28AQ Shipley:Oh, yeah. Husband, ex-husband just did an interview as well. Patrick. Remarried, correct? Remarried expecting the child.

3:25:35Pat McAfee:Oh, he did 60 Minutes, Bruce just told me. Yeah, with his new wife. So a lot of that stuff has not hit my alga, which is sweet. Me neither. Because it sounds like people are getting very, very, very, very, very, very into that. If it does, it won't get out. so there i assume there's a doc coming about this at some point hbo i believe has the i i think it's coming out like very soon either that or it's like going on concurrently with all the that's happening all right i'll learn everything about it at some point

3:26:06Pat McAfee:we live in a wild world don't we oh yeah crazy it'd be cool to get to the port where we all want to be though like where everybody just kind of gets along you know we try to make that happen every single day in here boy it it backfires a lot it seems like it seems like it gets a lot out there but if everybody can rally around you know life like we rally around sports boy it'd be a lot better world wouldn't it today we try to showcase sports just like we do every other day and on this particular Wednesday, we went deep in our analysis. D-Bot, great work this week. Thank you. Hey, baby. Good situational report.

3:26:47Pat McAfee:Thank you. Good. Good D. Nice. Good football players out there. Yeah, good football players are great D out there. A lot of that. Talks to the table. Great work today, boys. You too. D-Bot, safe travels. Boys in the back. Great work. We'll be back tomorrow. AJ, way to go, pal. Any final words, AJ, to the people watching at home? um no i thought about it for a second i don't have anything all right that's good that's good i didn't know if you wanted to announce we got over three million on youtube oh there you go that's huge the big deal you're gonna get a plaque another something i don't know how that works obviously but we are very very very very very very thankful for the people that watch along at youtube and have for years now uh obviously our youtube show is the reason why anything can happen and the people that have watched and followed along through a lot of different iterations and eras of this particular program are the best people on earth so we're up over three million who knows where we'll end up at very

3:27:46AQ Shipley:rarely do we talk about this but ring the bell dude yeah I'm in there you know

3:27:52Pat McAfee:what I'm not on traveling or something I'll hop in check shout out to the chat I will as I've said numerous times I have never a couple times I've gone in there and looked at what was happening I try to stay away from it but I I do appreciate the activity that happens within the chat. And also, there's a couple people I've run into who have, I believe they are the... Keepers of the chat. Boom. There they are, keepers of the chat. Bill kind of runs a tight ship in there. Does he? Oh, yeah. See, that's something that I learn in real time that I don't... Is Bill McComas the one that should be? But, yeah, I guess he should be.

3:28:27Pat McAfee:Bill. Thanks for doing it, Bill. Hell yeah, Bill. Good work, Bill. Congratulations, Bill.

3:28:33AQ Shipley:What's up, Bill?

3:28:35Pat McAfee:Oh, here's the chat right here, actually. Bruce has shown him. We did a chat. Get in here, Pat. Yeah, right. Thank you for acknowledging us. Well, anytime me. Hey, we got a shout-out. Yes, you have, Slime Roy. No, don't say it. Two-year member watching for four shout-out. Katrina is who they're talking about. One person says Katrina sucks. One person says thank you, Katrina. I guess that's kind of what it is. Follow-team. That's what it is. That's life. Shout-out to the chat. Shout-out to everybody that follows along. Shout-out to subscribers. on YouTube it's literally only because you guys that were able to do anything so thank you we'll continue to try to celebrate the shit out of football and sports and life every single day no matter what's being said or misquoted or misrepresented outside to try to put me in a situation to potentially get killed by people who get very excited because if it wasn't for all of you we wouldn't get to do any of this and god we are lucky that we get to do this Hell yeah.

3:29:32Pat McAfee:Safe travels. Safe travels.

3:29:34AQ Shipley:Thank you. You too, brother. This weekend.

3:29:35Pat McAfee:Yeah. Have an incredible night to all of you. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice that might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team on three. Football's back, baby. One, two, three. Team. Team. Goodbye.
