In short

The episode argues that “surrender” means aligning with what you truly want instead of staying trapped in unwanted pain, work, or relationships. It links resentment/frustration to a stressed central nervous system and urges listeners to act with courage while maintaining standards (not surrendering to “shitty” life or people).

Guest backgrounds

No guests are interviewed in this episode (it’s a solo episode). The host references a past relationship with a woman who introduced him to Christianity and handled a breakup with faith in God.

Key claims

Resentment builds when you don’t live in alignment; resentment can target places, processes, and activities, not just people. Calm nervous systems reduce frustration. Surrender to God/greater purpose can remove ego and improve how you show up.

Notable examples

The host’s move to a Malibu home, shifting from frequent guest episodes to more solo episodes to protect energy, and a breakup story where the woman “fought for it” through faith, then later reconnected after a grocery-store synchronicity.

00Sometimes we need to just surrender. Surrender to the pain, the challenge, the process, and surrender to what you truly want to do. and the reason I think it's surrender is because we feel trapped at times doing things we don't want to do and the moment we just surrender and decide okay I'm not putting up with all this shit anymore I'm not putting up with all these people anymore I'm surrendering so that I can live in alignment with what I truly want. Because I think when you don't, you let everything build up and you start to build resentment for life. You start to build resentment for the process that you're on, the journey that you're on.

55And we don't want that. In fact, even the concept of resentment in itself is not a positive one at all. and so people look at resentment and they typically think it is more related to a person in their life i'm starting to resent that person but we actually resent far more than just people we resent places we resent the process we resent certain work different activities and whenever you're living in the state of resentment i feel that it's a negative energy it's not one that we ever really want to live with and the reason I think this is important for me in my life right now is fully regular listeners of the show you notice that recently I've been doing a lot more solo podcasts than guests you know we went from traveling around the world.

02We caught 49 flights last year, going to different cities all around the US, around Europe. We went to London, back in Australia, in Asia. And we went go, go, go. And we were releasing two podcast episodes every single week with a new guest, two new guests every week. And it was a lot. It was intense. And to be honest, with the right systems, I do see myself going back to that. But recently we've been doing maybe two guests a month and two solos and sometimes even more solos. As I'm releasing this, I'm filming it on the day of releasing it. And this was supposed to come out yesterday, but I just moved into this new house.

55So I've just moved into a new house in Malibu. I've signed a lease here for the next 12 months. And I guess the reason I'm tying this into surrender is because there's so many pieces in my life that I'm working on. We've got new businesses that we're launching. We have a business helping businesses and founders build their personal brands and podcasts. us we also have pod pro which is the school which is the community that that has a whole system to help people and podcasters grow and then we have the show and the thing that i remind myself is and i'm trying to be fit and healthy and do all of the thing right the thing i'm trying to remind myself is every one of those is like a full-time job and sometimes things need more attention than others.

52Now, the podcast is my main thing. I'm on a mission to build the biggest show in the world. It's my main thing. But sometimes there's other areas in life that when you can just divert from the main thing for just a second and give something else your absolute all, it's going to help slingshot you back and slingshot you forward into the main thing. And so for context, I'm trying to navigate this. I'm trying to navigate this process of growing the biggest show in the world and what that's going to take. Because if I look at the other biggest shows in the world, the resources they have, the experience they have, the competency they have, it's far, at least, yeah, well, frankly, it's far beyond me and what I'm doing.

42So for me to be able to play at that level, something needs to change, right? We're growing massively. We're getting 30 million views a month on all of the social media platforms. We've grown 100 ,000 followers on the podcast Instagram page alone in the last 90 days. Things are growing very, very well. But if the goal is the biggest in the world, the growth needs to be 10 15 20 x that and so thinking normally isn't going to help you achieve that in fact it's not going to and i'm not saying that i'm thinking normally but what i am saying is we need to think something far greater so the mission that i'm on and what i'm trying to achieve is going to require a lot of experimentation it's going to require a lot of things that have not been done before.

39And to do that, I need to surrender. I need to surrender to the process. And what does that look like for me? Well, I know that some of the things I want to do to really make a dent and wow the world and achieve greatness, I know that some of the things I want to do are going to require massive expenses, massive investments. If I want to pick up The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, in a helicopter and build a cinema production on the top of a volcano in his home island in Hawaii, I'm probably going to need to spend a lot of money on that. In fact, that's a multi six-figure production and event to do. Insurance, team, helicopter, rental equipment, flights, everything, right?

42So if that's something that I genuinely want to do, I need to be able to create a life, create a business that allows me to do that tenfold. Because if I'm trying to build the biggest show in the world, I can't just do one of those. So the moment that opportunity comes, we need to double down and we need to do Matthew McConaughey and another wild one. We need to go to the jungle and do this. And the reason I'm saying need is it's not that I need, but what my lens is, is I need to double down in order to achieve the goals in the life that I truly want to live. And so when I'm presented with these thoughts, I can't just keep growing like this.

30We're growing massively, but we're not growing to the biggest show in the world. You know, when I went from 4 million a month to 30 million a month, that jump was massive, right? We leaped into a new league. People started seeing us that didn't really see us before. when that was happening we grew from three mil to four mil in the month prior and I kept changing the strategy every two weeks and we started growing more than we'd ever grown and I went to my editing team I want to flip the whole strategy on its head and they're literally looking at me going Chris we're growing more than you've ever grown before why are we changing things.

18This is working. And I said, it's working, but not for my goals. I'm trying to achieve something far greater. And when you think in that way, growth is cool, but you can't settle for that. And so for me, when I'm assessing all of this, even though I'm growing and it's exciting, I need to surrender to what I actually want. I need to surrender to that and live in that and feel that and go, okay, what can I do to actually be aligned with that? And so for me, in my process, in my journey, in my life right now, this is the baby. This is the thing that matters most to me. But I'm trusting in the process that the other things that I'm working on is going to slingshot this.

14It's going to teach me a whole lot more about life. I'm going to be able to unlock a new level of awareness in my life to help share and inspire people as well and grow. And so, for example, the last week, I've been literally sprinting in business. Long days, not much sleep. I've been go, go, go, go, go. Meeting after meeting, planning after planning, team meeting, like so much stuff going on, right? And don't get me wrong, we've really taken a leap in the business. We've made a bunch of money. We have, you know, even signed a new lease and moved into a nice, beautiful house that's on a horse ranch in Malibu on the water.

06like things are progressing greatly and and and it's so awesome but every time I progress in there I go great now I can keep going on the main thing like for me right settling down in this place the first thing that comes to my mind when I get into this place and I have nice furniture and like and everything just like feels very abundant and I love the feeling of it, right? The first thing that comes to my mind is routine. I can have routine. And what does routine mean to me? Early nights, sorry, yeah, early nights, early mornings, reading, writing. I've not been writing in my little book every single day like I wanted to and like I was, but that's okay.

03But having routine is going to allow me to do that because I have a familiar pillow. I have all my stuff everywhere. Like being able to have a routine and not be jumping around from Airbnbs all the time, game changer, right? Over there, I have my Bible and my New Morning Mercies book, which the girl that I used to be talking to actually gave me both of the books, which is awesome. That's been the gateway for me to deep dive into Christianity and learn more about that. And I have been reading it every single morning, no matter where I am. But the excitement I have about having that placed on a specific table next to a specific chair that I get to get up first thing in the morning at 4am and open it up excites me, right?

59And so the reason I'm tying this whole pod into surrender is because we can be so fixated on one thing that we feel like we need to do. But sometimes there's other things that might not directly be related, but they help the main thing so much. And when those things arise and you feel like they are the right thing to do, you need to lean into it and trust in the process. For me, I've really been trying to remove my ego this year. I've been trying to remove all of the tension in my life that has been ruling my life. All of the things that I've been doing that I don't want to do, but I'm just doing them for the sake of.

44all of the things that I've wanted to do, but I've always tricked myself into thinking that there's more things that are more important. I've really had to surrender to those things in my life because when I live in alignment with what I truly want to do right in this moment, and it's truly aligned with the longer vision and the greater thing that I'm trying to achieve, it is my duty to do that. It is my duty to honor that. And it is my duty to surrender to that process. Because for me, I don't want to build up resentment. I don't want to build up resentment to life. I don't want to build up resentment to people, to places, to anything.

24I don't want to build up resentment. And if I don't want to build up resentment, the way that I'm going to do that is by surrendering to what I really want to do, what my soul is calling me to do. and when that arises having the courage to act on that is going to be key and for me like that's been the last little bit for me you know i've been back in america for coming up to about a month now after traveling around uh asia working in thailand having the family holiday in bali and then going back to australia to do a couple of interviews and and see some family and friends I've been back for about a month and this month has been a lot of growth.

09There's been a lot of really amazing things that have happened and I just see that and I get excited but I'm just being very aware because sometimes things will creep in and make me feel like I'm going off track or I'm going off path and it's just not the case. And so, yeah, surrender's been the key. I wrote a couple of notes down here. I think I've touched on a lot of it, but I just think that if we just talk about surrender, we talk about resentment, and then we talk about frustration, I think this is going to be interesting because when we think about the moments when we're frustrated, I don't enjoy those.

05I feel frustration can't really come when your central nervous system's calm.

14Frustration can't live when you're calm. and so resentment has to shock the central nervous system because when you're resenting things it gives off this negative energy every single time that thing enters your presence and if the negative energy is running through your body your central nervous system is going to start freaking out and then if your central nervous system's freaking out, it's more likely that you're going to be on edge, and then you're going to start feeling frustrated about things, when things aren't going to plan, when things are taking four hours, when they should have taken one, when someone is maybe saying something that's rubbing you the wrong way, or talking about something they're passionate in, but you're not interested in, like, you're going to start getting really frustrated.

14You know, like a good litmus test for this is if you can't drive in the car without music, you probably are a little bit on edge. If you can't sit in silence without doom scrolling on your phone, you're probably a little bit on edge. If you can't sit in front of a blank page, even though you don't know what to write and you can't sit there thinking, it's probably a sign that you're on edge. And our body doesn't thrive when we're on edge. Our mind doesn't thrive when we're on edge. We have a tension that kind of rules us most of the time. and it ends up in us being frustrated, it ends up in us resenting people and it ends up in us struggling to surrender to the things that matter in life.

15So surrender, dude. Surrender to the process. Surrender to the pain that comes with that process. Surrender to the things that you don't want to do but you know are tied to a greater mission. You know are tied to something far greater that's going to light you up and make impact on the world. And more importantly, surrender to what you truly feel is right to do in this moment. And when you surrender to that, what comes with that is courage. What comes with that is courage to start walking in a way that has light and has less tension and friction, which is just something that I don't think serves us.

06I really don't think it does. and what I might do I'm just drinking a coffee we don't have mugs yet we did an order I ordered about 50 things on Amazon yesterday and there's three massive boxes there but the the mugs aren't there but we have glasses so I've got my my hot coffee in this glass so some things that's been happening in my life I think I'll share just to open up with you guys and share some cool things so I as I mentioned and if you guys have seen any podcasts I've done featured on others and stuff I was chatting to a woman for the last like six months and we ended about uh maybe six weeks ago now time's flying I don't actually really know exactly when we we ended but I'm gonna say about six weeks ago now and you know I was actually incredibly amazed by her now I ended things with her and and the way she handled it was just like no other.

27She's the woman that gave me the Bible and gave me this massive interest in diving into Christianity because I loved her so much and I couldn't help but wonder how she acted in that way. And for her, the answer was God. And so she was so great and so amazing. And, you know, like when I ended things, like the, her eyes were bawling, she was bawling her eyes out while having a smile on her face happy for me. And I just looked at it and I just went, how does one do that? like be in love with someone and have you know your heart broken but you just have like this deep rooted trust that it's the right thing instantly and so while you're upset you're so happy i looked at it and i just went wow like that's impressive then on top of that she called me the next day fighting for it god bless her and um and she fought for it and she tried and and it wasn't right for me in that moment and i did not hear from her again

05and I was so impressed by how she handled it and how she stood up and how strong she was and you know I don't know how she was dealing with it on her own but like I'm sure she was an absolute trooper and the way she handled it was just absolutely insane now I'm tying this into surrender because like she surrendered to God and the benefit that had in her life is is day and night clear to me how crazy the benefit is right because take it like this right like imagine having someone break up with you that you really saw a future with then you are happy for them because you know that they've made a decision that they felt right is right for them, while you're upset at the same time, but you're, you're, you're tearing, but you're, you're smiling.

03The next day you call to fight for it. You put your heart on the table and you fight for it. It still doesn't work out. And then you go, okay, I'm going to respect his space fully. And did not hear a single thing for a long time until we spoke on the phone, like literally a week ago, right? Like you have to have a deep rooted trust and surrender to be able to act in that way. I was so amazed by her. And the reason I spoke to her a week ago is because it's funny. I had this like, and talk about God or whatever. I don't know in terms of my relationship with God. I don't really know yet. I don't have that feeling yet, but there's something far greater, right?

55I was literally in a store, in a grocery store, and I had this like rushing feeling of this woman. And it was stronger than I had like ever felt since we broke up. Like it was like a strong, strong feeling. I get home from that grocery shop, literally 20 minutes later, and I look on my phone and I had a message from her. And I just went, what? I had the strongest feeling from her just hit me out of the blue while I was doing some grocery shopping. A month after things have ended and she messages me like 20 minutes later for the first time in a month? I just went man there's something going on like to think that we're not connected that everyone's not connected in some way shape or form you'd be kidding yourself you'd be absolutely kidding yourself think about all of the synchronicities all of the different things that have happened in life that are so perfect that like are so connected you can't disregard that.

16But when I look at how she's dealt with it all, and when I spoke with her on the phone a week ago, whenever it was, when I spoke with her on the phone, I just was admiring her of how amazing she is and how much she's done this work to be able to show up in such a positive way. and a massive part about that is surrender and surrender is a feminine thing which is why I think it's probably harder for men especially men that are winning it's a very hard group of people to find Jesus and find God because a massive part of that that is surrendering to him. And it's like removing your power. And so it's a very hard thing.

14And so the ego wants to be right. It wants to rule the way. It wants to steer the ship. And when you surrender to God, you're removing that power. So it's very hard for a man that's winning to do that. And I've been noticing that, right? Because my life is so good. Everything is just absolutely crushing. And I don't actually feel like a lacking that God's going to fill that gap. I don't feel that, but I know the power in the relationship. And so I'm workshopping through that, but the surrender piece is possibly one of the most important things to be able to do in order to access that relationship with God, but it's the hardest thing to do.

06And so, yeah, the strength that you get from surrendering is one that I genuinely think makes you a better person. I genuinely think it makes you show up in a far better way. It makes you, it makes your life, and it makes the people around you's life far greater.

31and just marinating in that and thinking about that is something that I think is important for all of us to ponder on no matter what journey or phase of life that you're in. The only thing that I don't think we should be surrendering with, and I shouldn't probably say the only thing because I need to put more thought under this, but one of the key things that is important that we don't surrender to is like the shit life that we're in the shit things the shit people that we live with or that we spend time with we should not be surrendering to shit we need to have a standard we need to have a standard for our life and we can't let it go below that we need to strive and shoot for the things that we truly want and we can't settle and surrender to just that's just the way it is and that shitty life is the thing that we're going to live fuck that we we can't surrender to shit so being aware of that and making sure that the decisions that you're making are aligned with you, what you truly want, and what serves the greater good, at least for what you perceive to serve the greater good, and then surrendering to the process of that and doing what feels right for you.

04So yeah, that's my thoughts on surrender today. That's what I've been pondering on a lot recently. and yeah I just think as we close this out I just want to tie in the piece that I was talking about around my show and and the the the focus and what I'm trying to achieve like I'm genuinely trying to build this thing into the biggest show in the world and to do that I don't think I can do what's already been done i need to break the mold and so for me like the reason i've been doing a lot more solos as opposed to doing guests like i have five guest interviews that are recorded that are ready to go that i haven't released and i'm sitting down here and recording this guest pod, a solo pod, and having my brother edit this pod today and release this pod today instead of releasing guest pods.

12And I've got guest recordings that I've already done with people that have millions of followers that I'm not releasing. Now, the reason I'm doing this is because it feels most aligned for me. I'm trying to protect my energy, protect what I'm truly wanting to do and get to work on the things that I think are going to move the needle. And one of those things is there's certain people and price tags that I'm not willing to pay. And I don't want to pay and I don't want to have things and energies with people in my life that I don't think serve me or the greater good and my energies in my life. and doing these solo ones not only like just the feedback i get from these solos people really enjoyed them i know people really want to see guest ones as well but but the reason i'm doing it and living in this lens is because i want to do great guest pods and i want to do guest pods of people that absolutely excite me people that light me up because the best conversations are the ones where I could talk to them for eight hours straight, the ones that light me up like crazy, which is why the recent episodes that have been guest ones with Grayson and different other people, I could literally talk to them for 18 hours straight, right?

40And I'm really trying to hone in on that because I want to speak with people that I light up about. And if I don't light up, then I'd probably prefer to just speak to a camera like this and keep it raw. And so, yeah, this is a different style of pod today. It's a very raw one. We only did one camera today because I just wanted to speak directly to you. I'm literally sitting on my couch in this new place. I've got Amazon boxes everywhere that we need to unpack. I've got some friends coming over. We're going up to do a gym session with Hunter, one of my best mates, Hunter McIntyre, up the mountain.

20And I'm just grateful for life. I'm grateful. We've got so many exciting things now. Now that we've got a home base, we're hiring a new team. And we're going to be going all in back on the show. We're going to be having some really big guests. We're doing really big productions. We're taking everything to the next level. And I'm grateful to have you guys around and supporting the show. So leave us a five-star review on Spotify if you're watching this on here. and hit the subscribe button on YouTube if you've made it this far. I am grateful for all of the regular listeners and I'm grateful for all of the new faces coming to tune in.

52We are signing out for this episode, but I'll see you very soon. Bye-bye.

59Let's go.
