In short
Fraser Grut’s “dreams” mission—why dreams matter, why action matters more than just dreaming, and how faith/service replace hustle. He says his purpose shifted from filming dreams to igniting dreams in everyday conversations, and that peace and happiness come from serving God and people, not chasing status.
Guest (Fraser Grut) background
New Zealand-born filmmaker/podcaster who moved to the US (Malibu). For ~10 years he’s filmed “nearly 2,400 dreams” and built a “10,000 dreams” project; he previously hustled via cold emails, then says he “let go” and now opportunities come through relationships. Christian; recently began daily Bible time and “emailing God” as prayer/journaling.
Key claims
Dreams “come alive” when shared; pursuit is the magic (not achievement). If you dream without action, it feels hollow. Small dreams (e.g., being a great dad) count. Service unlocks fulfillment; check your heart for hidden agendas.
Notable examples
Filmed a “California satanic church” leader at a Denny’s car park who “lit up” when sharing his dream. Mentions filming Elmo’s dream on Sesame Street years later. Tells a Robin Sharma “best toilet cleaner” story (be the best at your mission).

0:06This is so beautiful, man. Look at that. So, dude, something I haven't said. I almost quit 10 ,000 dreams a month and a half ago. I had conversations with friends and family saying, I'm quitting. Like, I had just lost the joy. I've done this for nearly 10 years, and I was just, to be honest, just over it, bro. I forgot why I did this mission in the first place. And what I realized is my dream is to ignite the dreams of humanity. And that sounds so dramatic. But I just want to ignite dreams in people, bro. I feel like that's what I'm called to do. I just I want to plant seeds and I want to see people become all that they're called to be because I believe that every single person has a unique dream in them bro that was planted there from when they were born and I want to ignite those dreams and I guess my pastor helped me to realize bro I don't need a camera to fulfill my dream.
1:24I kind of thought I had to film it for it to count. For the last 10 years, bro, if I didn't film the dream, it didn't count. But now I realize that in every conversation, no matter where I am, camera or no camera, I can ignite dreams in people. And that's what I'm called to do, bro. I want to help the planet dream. I want to be like Steve Irwin of Dreams. I used to want to be Steven Spielberg my whole life, bro. Now I'm way more drawn to guys like Steve Irwin. I just want to be erupting with passion and enthusiasm. And no matter who I meet, I want to be their biggest cheerleader and encourage them and build them up.
2:07I was talking with some mates a couple of days ago about names and your name whatever your name is bro there's a meaning behind it and i and we're talking about how people kind of grow into what their name is what the meaning of their name is and um i was kind of like wait my name's fraser that means strawberry fields and i'm like i don't know if strawberry fields has any meaning and my buddy was like strawberry fields you're planting seeds and i was like bro i was I was like, that's what I want to do. I want to plant seeds in people. Bro. Yeah. You realize we met six weeks ago. Literally. And I invited you on this show and you said, nah, bro.
2:56Because I was going to quit. Because you were going to quit. That's why I see no to coming on this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we caught back up at Cafe de la Plage. I ran into you and you're there sat. white headphones in, a pen and a paper and a Bible. Yes. And I walk up to you, bro, and you were energetic. Like someone just lit a fire up your ass. So excited. And you literally just like go to town on me. You preach and you're like, dude, I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you this, this thing. It's ignited. And dude, you've been like on another level since we've been back. Bro, it's crazy, man. I was a different human a month and a half ago.
3:49I just want to do kingdom work, bro. Like I feel like I'm finally becoming who I was always meant to be. Like I spent most of my life trying to be the next Steven Spielberg or the next blah, blah. I'm like, no, I want to be me. I want to be Fraser Groot. And I feel like this is who God's called me to be. I just want to help the planet dream, bro. And I want to capture everyone's dream. I want to film a dream on the moon. I want to film the Simpsons dreams as like an animated character, bro. I want to film the Pope's dream, the King's dream. I want to go to Africa and film dreams. I want to capture dreams in every single country on the planet.
4:30Bro, now I'm getting all Steve. Now I'm like, bring that Steve Irwin energy, bro. bro. Mate, crikey.
4:40What do you think is so important about dreams? Why do you think it's so important to have them? Well, bro, I've filmed nearly 2 ,400 dreams over the last 10 years. And I've noticed, man, every single person that I film the dream of, no matter who it is, they light up when they share their dream like they glow and I think dream dreams like a magic and that sounds so cheesy but I like bro people come alive when they share their dreams I when I'm at my lowest bro and I've lost sight in who I am and what I'm doing it's usually because I'm not dreaming. I think, and it's not even like you have to achieve the dream for it to count, bro.
5:30It's the pursuit of a dream. That's the magic. That's when I'm alive, when I'm chasing something. Not when I'm achieving it, bro. It's when I'm chasing it. And yeah, dude, I, it's just such a joy, man, seeing people come alive. Like I filmed the dream of a satanic priest two years ago at a denny's car park in downtown la and it was freaking crazy bro but he came alive when he shared his dream he lit up and this dude had like a tattoo of a church burning on him he was like a proper like the head of the california satanic church and he was like when the second we met him he's like you know i like want to burn churches like he was like really aggressive but he came alive when he shared his dream bro he let it was like he was a kid again and i know no matter who you are bro you come alive when you share your dream yeah you know what you know what's crazy though is i think a really slippery slope to be in is having dreams without action yeah because i'd rather not dream at all if i'm not willing to act because if you don't act on your dreams you know there's a better life out there a more aligned life for you but you don't have the courage to move towards it.
6:46So each day you wake up and you think about the dream that you have, which is great. Don't get me wrong, but you're not taking any steps towards it. So then you're ending up in the exact same place really far away from where you want to be. And I think there's this powerful switch here where we go, have the dreams. Don't get me wrong. They're the most important thing ever. But if you don't act towards them, I think that's going to be a really hollow feeling like i look at people that you know live these normal lives and they can actually clock off at 5 p.m and put on a movie right i can't comprehend yeah no no but but what i think there is actually it's a blessing that they're lacking dreams because because if they had dreams and they did and they stayed in the same action yeah they would feel like a horrible person yeah eat them up because they know there's something greater for them yeah i think the greatest gift is being able to unlock that but equally what comes with that is responsibility to actually go and chase them yeah like you have that gift for the world yeah and you're depriving people from that gift when you're not chasing those dreams and so i think there's this interesting piece where we go have the dreams they're so important but equally like chasing them and striving towards them and having something to spring you out of bed in the morning and act on is the best part.
8:09And as you said there, it's not about the dream. It's about the pursuit of the dream. Absolutely, bro. And I guess what I felt, like maybe I found, bro, for the first like seven years of this mission, I kind of thought every dream had to be like crazy big. Like I want to be president. I want to change the world. I want to be the greatest rugby player of all time. Americans have no idea what rugby is. When I tell them AFL, they go, is that like rugby? Dude, I don't even know what AFL is, bro. American's going to be like, what? And, like, if your dream, bro, is just to be the greatest dad on the planet, that is incredible.
8:50And you can wake up and pursue that every day. Like, I used to think, like, how do people live without a dream that's like, I want to change the world? Like, I couldn't comprehend it, bro, because I'm such a big dreamer. And I know you're a big dreamer, too. You're like, wait, what? you're you're like you just want a job and go back to hang with the fat like but as i've got older bro i'm like that's beautiful so even if your dream is so small bro like i just want to make my sons make sure my son has the best day ever today that's so freaking epic bro and you could wake up and make that your mission for the day i think you just have to have a mission and the mission could be small it could be big it it's just waking up and you don't want to wake up and be an is it mcu sorry is it an mcu is that what's the one where it's like the back like the the background the background character what's it uh you know like in a game how you like an ex you're just like a pc mv you don't want to just wake up and be an mpc you don't want to like that's the only you know what the thing is is i interviewed a guy, Robin Sharma.
9:58Have you heard of him? Yeah, he's got the Monk Who... I love 5am Club. 5am Club, the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. I freaking love that dude's car. And dude, you would love him in real life. There's a lot of... I want to meet him too. He entered the studio. I do a breath work with all my guests normally. He entered the studio, got out of his car, he got driven and dropped off and he hopped out the back seat of this limousine type car. He enters the studio and the volume turns down his presence calmed everything and i was just looking at him i'm like dude i normally do a breath work and and uh but i don't think we need you now he's like yeah i've already done mine and i'm like yeah you have like he was so calm and so just his presence we were gifted with 90 minutes of his time it was an absolute blessing but anyway he talks about the story of the johannesburg airport have you ever heard him talk about this tell me oh mate he was in the johannesburg airport and i think this is so fitting to tie in here he was in the johannesburg airport and he was rushing to his plane and he just needed to go to the restroom so he went to the toilet and he goes into the toilet and he's greeted by this guy he's like welcome to johannesburg airport in the rest in the toilet in the restroom there's a guy there set up with these like perfumes and and deodorants and just like he's the cleaner he was the janitor of like the air of the airport toilet and he was like cleaning the toilets and stuff and he was super bubbly and robin just pauses there and goes like hey how you doing and uh and it made his day and you know most people that work as a janitor in an airport would grind their gears just push their days through the rest of their days just trying to get by everyone is not acknowledging them because everyone is in a rush they're just going into the toilet peeing going out leaving then they're cleaning up after their shit on with their day cycling through no one's acknowledging the janitor in the airport yeah right but he decided that okay i'm a janitor but i'm gonna be the best damn toilet cleaner ever yeah and then robin said this thing and it was so profound he said he said it doesn't matter what you want to do in life it doesn't matter what your mission is but just try and be the best at it yeah dude he's like you've got you've got only so many hours in a day if you're gifted with something that maybe is less privileged than what someone else is yeah At least try and be the best.
12:36Because when you be the best, you grow. It's hard to be the best at anything. Show up on the days you don't want to, to walk into that room knowing you don't really want to be here. But at the very least, you can still show up in the best version of yourself and then leave an impact on everyone else. Imagine everyone that walks into that airport toilet, how much more of a smile they'll have on their face going into their plane and their flight. Absolutely, bro. And I just think there's something powerful about going, whatever it is, be the best. Like, if you want to just make sure that your son has the best day ever.
13:12Yes. Don't just say it. Do it. Yes. Absolutely, bro. Action, man. That's it. That's how you... Let's go, bro. Dude, and you know what? Maybe this ties into... But something that I've found, bro. Like, I think so many people are just chasing the wrong thing. I think people are chasing their parents' dreams, their friends' dreams, or chasing what their dream was when they were, like, seven years old, bro. And I think that's why so many people are frozen. Because they're like, wait, I was meant to be LeBron James. And it's like, dude, when you were six, you were saying you wanted to be. Like, there's something.
13:52out like i feel like so many people just are holding on to this is who i said i would be in high school and that's why they maybe don't feel like they're living out their life in a way that's for mission or like i always find bro the place to start is just bless people do you find that bro like and that's probably ties into what robin's saying just bless people that guy blesses people just be a light encourage people love people serve people and in that you will find your dream bro and if you can tie a gifting like what your unique gift is for the world and then use it to bless people game over you get like liribo you'll never you will be so happy yeah like yeah there's always There's that great thing around like, and another thing Robin said on that pod, he's like, one of the great teachers told me that when I'm having a, if I wake up and I'm having, if I have a busy day today, I'm going to meditate for six hours instead of three.
15:00Yeah. And the other part was, if you're having a bad day, go buy someone something. If you're having a bad day, give something to someone yeah there's a there's a service piece and i was talking about it on a pod recently actually around there's something in looking at old people and looking in looking at extremely wealthy people and seeing where they end up if you look at a lot of billionaires dude they end up being philanthropists when you look at old people all they want to do is just serve their grandkids yeah there's something in looking at where people end up that have walked the walk that we're walking because you see people with ten cars yeah and it means nothing to them because they have ten of them yeah you see people end in service and the reason they end in service is it's because it's the only thing that gives them more of a boost then all the other shit that thinking is going to make us happy.
16:10They turn into philanthropists because they know that when and like for me personally when someone stops me on the street and says that I've saved their life. Did you have had that? I've had that multiple times. That's incredible bro. They say I've saved their life. That gives me more of a boost than any money I've ever made in my whole life. And it never gets old. Every time someone stops me on the street it's more of a euphoric feeling than the money that I make. Yeah. And so then I just go okay so maybe there's some wisdom in looking at where people have arrived at and trying to live like that and i don't think there's anything negative about removing yourself from the center of the world and realizing that you are not the center and this is why there's like this is why when there's something greater yeah service of god service of other people service of something outside of yourself life gets better bro absolutely life gets better oh my gosh bro you're preaching now baby you're preaching bro that's the secret bro for happiness serve people it's so like simple yeah just and that's why legacy is so important like yeah like something outside of you for me right like and i'm gonna pour some more coffee while we're here do you want some more hook me up dog let's go dude so i guess the thing that i've been thank you thinking about is i've fallen in love recently
17:49bro i've fallen in love recently and you know what uh you know what it did hey guys so you know what it did I got a fire up my ass to level up yeah because it wasn't about me anymore dude I can be a hooligan and sleep on the beach by myself it doesn't matter shit got real I'm like dude I love this girl so much I want to give her the world and I don't think I can right now if I'm acting the way I am I'm making good money but all I care about is me and my business yeah and so like I fell in love when I started changing as a man for the better I started showing up yeah because something was outside of me and then when I thought about it I went okay what am I actually showing up differently about all right well I want to do her right and treat her like a queen okay so when some other woman messages me or slides into my dms do i respond yeah no no do i go on that date do i hang out with that person do i flirt with someone no because every single time i think about her and so i went okay does that make me a better man all right well women are my bad vice all of a sudden i've just removed the biggest distraction of my life and now i focus on my business to grow that to provide for her and the family that we can build so then i went hang on i've been dabbling in this god thing oh yeah is that not what god could be if you built a relationship with him but for every single area of your life yeah and i went huh that's service to something greater far greater than anything else and i went now it's all starting to make some sense don't know how to feel it but but it all starts to make sense i think there's something great about having dreams but oftentimes these dreams are surface level and they're actually not things that hold weight yes you know like like when the dreams are something around a nice fancy bag or a car thing or a woman that looks good on your arm or whatever it is, I think these are fleeting and you constantly need to chase something greater.
20:15Yeah. But when there's something that is service greater than yourself and how good you're going to look around it, that's where I think the magic lies. Absolutely. And bro, I know we've both had moments in our life where we've achieved things that we sit out for. and as soon as you achieve it you're like what and i know you hear people say that like but then you never believe it you're like yeah i won't feel that when i make a million bucks i won't feel that i'll be so happy i know that's your and it always freaking happens i haven't made a million bucks just putting that out there but like when i started this mission i wrote out a list of five impossible people to film and on that list was elmo on sesame street and like six years later I'm filming Elmo's dream on Sesame Street and bro this should have been like uh I've made it moment bro I was so depressed for two days after that like I was like oh the shot wasn't the shot sucked I looked awkward why was I wearing that outfit I kept I was so nervous that I kept like crossing my arms and being like awkward I was like why didn't I shave my mustache like I was just destroying it and it kind of bro I just had no joy for it for like two days i almost didn't post it because i was like i so embarrassed like and it just goes to show bro you can't just chase moments or people or like when i win an oscar i'll be happy or when i meet justin bieber i will be happy because people one things let you down people let you down like you know you you have to pursue something that's greater than you bro and that's my mission the last 10 years bro i was so selfish when i was like 18 19 bro i don't know what you were like as a teenager bro i was like so arrogant bro i was like kanye west level arrogant i don't even know if i can say that but like i was bro like i was telling everyone at like film school like i'm gonna be the greatest filmmaker of all time i would pray every day bro god help me be the greatest filmmaker of all time and like everything was about me bro being famous and rich and iconic and i think this mission just i mean it didn't kill that part of me because it's still there yeah it's just way healthier now bro i'd be lying if i said it wasn't even there but this i feel like god was just beating that out of me for the last 10 years bro of like dude can i tell you something i've never told anyone this maybe this is a dream i don't even know if i should say this but why not i've had bro i've probably told like two people this tell a couple more you know when you daydream bro you go for a run you dream you think of the future i always find whatever i'm thinking of when i'm going for a run those are like real like locked in dreams like those are things like when you start visualizing i have this vision bro so my whole life was to win an oscar be the youngest oscar winning director of all time um which i officially have not done now because damien chazelle i've just become older than damien chazelle who i actually met four days ago at a market in malibu i stole his son's toy sword it's just a random check um so i'm not gonna achieve that dream but my dream bro i win an oscar and what i do is i bring um maybe it's a make-a-wish kid to the oscars with me a kid that let's say a kid that's got terminal cancer whatever it is if they say their dream is to win an oscar the kid i bring them to the oscars with me bro and if I win that Oscar I'm going to go on stage I'm going to take the envelope you know how they have the envelope and I'm going to read out the nominees for best director art I'm going to read them out and I'm going to add the kid at the bottom and then I'm going to go the Oscar goes to and I'm going to say the kid's name and I'm going to get the kid to come on stage and I'm going to give them an Oscar and make them the youngest Oscar winning director of all time that is like one of my life dreams and I've like told no one that but I'm like for me bro like winning an Oscar but being able to just give it to someone else would make it 10 times more magical bro and I'm like praying for that moment to happen because it makes me when I like visualize it I tear up bro like it makes me so happy I just want to bless people genuinely I want to bless people bro I don't care about like it's so it's weird bro how much now i almost don't care about winning an oscar for me it's so weird because that was like an idol in my life for my whole life that was an idol bro my dreams became idols have you ever had that where it's almost become an unhealthy obsession and it's easy to think that it's good because you watch stuff on youtube like yo like 24 7 no days off grind grind like and you think it's actually healthy to have that mindset bro have i gone completely off that mindset bro surrender bro let go god in god's timing bro if he wants that to happen it will happen but my job and i believe all of our jobs bro is just to bless people to use the gifts we have to bless the planet.
25:51Dude, I don't know what I'm saying. Let's go. I'm some Robin Sharma kind of. Let's go. I hope people can feel the energy, dude. Dude, this shit's crazy, bro. This is a vibe, bro. Oh my gosh, bro. So, I think the thing that I want to ask you, bro, is... Please. Is when you think about, like, we're in Malibu, You're just a kid from New Zealand Yeah That's moved over here with your wife Yeah You've got your visa You're here You're here I know It's outrageous bro And I think the thing I want to ask you is Is there a part of you That had an expectation coming over here That's not been met Was there a part of you that had to die When you moved over here or do you feel like it was what you expected?
26:45Whoa. Firstly, bro, it's so much better than I expected. Americans are incredible people, bro. I've never experienced this level of hospitality. We felt so welcomed and we were so cared for when we moved here, bro. like we were blessed way beyond anything we could have imagined moving here bro we've made lifelong friends within like days of moving here like me and my wife on the first like day within 24 hours of moving here we met two of our best friends ever and then six months later we were in both of their wedding parties at their wedding and we met them like the first day we moved here like we've been so blessed bro i think when i moved here bro i had that mindset of oh i gotta make it happen i gotta kick down every door i have to network i have to meet everyone i have to hustle and now i've been here for a year i've like let go of that bro you can't do that in malibu man like maybe in la that's the vibe but malibu it's a very chill vibe bro it's just be present man man, go surf, go sit at Cafe de la Plage.
28:00You're going to bump into 20 people. Just be present, man. And so many more doors have opened through me just living life. Every single paid opportunity for work that I've had in the last year since being in Malibu has come through relationship. Not a single one has come from a cold email or banging on a door. it's all come through people going hey do you want to do this thing bro and i've started to understand letting go bro that's how it happens here man that's the magic in my bro dude dude i can't relate more man that's crazy so yeah so i i moved i moved to texas when i moved i moved to austin and and i was there for a few months and i just was like i didn't come to the other side of the world to be in a place like this like austin's beautiful it's great don't get me wrong but it doesn't give you this energy of i want to take over the world yeah it doesn't give you this energy of like i'm gonna conquer i wanted that energy i didn't come to the other side of the world to spend US dollars to not have that, right?
29:14I didn't want that. Yeah. So I packed up my bags and I left. We caught 49 flights last year. We hopped around, around, around everywhere. And on the back of this massive sprint, podcast sprint, touring, everything, I landed in LA. I was in LA in Venice for two weeks. We did this massive production downtown, huge warehouse, big, big thing, huge recordings literally working 20 hour days not sleeping bags under my eyes dust and everything in this warehouse i could it was not good right and then after all of that months and months of traveling my friend hunter says dude you've been sprinting how about you go to malibu just go to my house in malibu lives up in the mountain light ago so how about you go up and just like spend a week or a few days or whatever you need to just hang out and recharge.
30:12I get up there. I see the view. And instantly I got this feeling of, I don't want to rest. I want to take over the world. I was like, I want to go. And I genuinely felt this like feeling in Malibu of abundance and like endless opportunity. yeah and i went i don't know how i'm gonna live here but like i gotta live here i gotta be here yeah i gotta be here and i've lived here basically ever since really um and and the the thing for me was was the feeling i have in bun in malibu is an abundant slow life yes you go into the city and everyone's just chasing yeah it's like chaos yeah they don't even see you as humans they see you as a dollar sign yes i kept running into people just like i would in malibu but every time i'd run into someone they'd be so bubbly and energetic and next minute they're trying to pitch me something yeah dude i was like at a coffee shop or everyone's so bubbly and energetic until you can't do anything for them yes and then they ghost you and i went i'm not here to play this game yeah if it takes me longer to achieve what i want to but i can actually enjoy this and build relationships and build a life that i love then i'm gonna do it and malibu gave me this feeling of of abundance because all the people here it's so expensive to live here that all the people here have already achieved all the stuff that those people haven't yes and they haven't got lost in the game they've they've realized as i said earlier they've got to a point where they've realize what actually matters yeah and then they operate in that lens and i think that's an energy that i love being around and uh and i'm glad you had that realization of of letting go oh my god letting everything unlock bro like you probably know too being down under you're so far away from america the action so i sent more than 50 000 cold emails when i was in new zealand bro for 10 ,000 dreams over the last 10 years i've seen more than 50 ,000 cold emails i was chasing hustling banging because it was the only way i could meet people if i didn't send a cold there was no way i was going to bump into someone in new zealand like no way so moving here bro i still had that mindset of i have to send email 100 emails every single day and i became a slave to cold emailing bro now that i've let go like the last couple of months i've let go bro and what's crazy man god's connecting me to all the people that i was chasing for years bro it's honestly ridiculous it's like the less i try the more he connects me to the like dude like i'm gonna get the beach like i've been trying to like meet jared butler for years so many cold emails nose from his managers his publicists and then like i meet him at the beach in malibu and we connect and he gives me his number and we connect and it's like oh my gosh and then like i meet jacob alordi the other day at the beach i meet owen wilson and you suddenly you're just connecting to all these people that you would have dreamt of meeting and it's come from letting go and surrendering bro i'm just like god's timing man everyone he needs me to be connected with he'll connect me but also I don't want anything from anyone now.
33:43Like I'm not asking these people to film their dreams I'm just hey bro. Like what's your dream? I'm not telling them about this no camera no hidden camera in the corner. Just hey bro. What's your dream? And just encourage them no agenda And it's incredible what can come from that bro when you just love people man Like i'm so paranoid now of people thinking that i'm trying to get something from them I've become friends with people that like Like I've admired and looked up to for years. And I'm like, bro, I don't want them to ever think I'm trying to use them for something. Like it's like one of my best friends, bro.
34:18It took me like six months to even ask him what his dream was. Because I was like, I don't want, because he's like, well, no. And I didn't want him to think I was using him. And then he's like, hey, bro, can I fill my dream? Like, he's like, like, why aren't you? And I'm like so paranoid about it because you see that in LA, bro. and I'm like I don't want to ever be seen as a guy that's using people like I don't you know man like and maybe that's what's so cool about us being from New Zealand and Australia is we bring a certain energy that feels really wholesome and pure I think that's why Americans love us because it feels like we're just like hey man what's up I want to I want to get to the bottom of this you dig when we met you were like bro i sent 200 emails a day you would do it no dude i was a slave to it bro dude and you do every little trick you're like yeah yeah look you type in this into this website and it verifies the email and i send this oh yeah what email do you want i got it i got i guess email addresses bro dude i was like i met this guy and i went he's on dude he's on and then but but then i meet you again and i'm like no he's really on now like just like he's on another level it's like you've taken a pill and i'm like i'm like dude this is this is crazy but but what i want to know is when we sat back down after seeing you again after i've been traveling i got back and as i said you had your headphones your pen and paper and then you were like this thing the bible what have you checked back into that's changed with your faith that's allowed you to kind of have this new freeing light that's helped dude look i've been a christian my whole life man so but up until a month and a half ago bro i might have looked at the bible once every four weeks and when i was looking at the bible it was like let me just quickly read a couple of like i wasn't locked in and i don't know what triggered it but i've locked in the last month and a half bro every morning i'm locked into the bible for 20 minutes half an hour then dude this might be a bit cute but i created a gmail for god and i email god every morning so when you see me on my laptop with the bible i'm emailing god bro and i just pray out a massive email and then i send it to god and that way i've got the record forever and one day i dream bro i dream one day that i get a response like in a moment when i really need it i'll just get a amen or like a yes i want to know something but i dude spending like 45 minutes every day in the word emailing god has changed my life like i'm so much more peaceful now I'm not chasing I'm not hustling And I'm achieving way more It's really weird bro I feel like Like Gary V would be kicking my ass right now Being like bro what are you Like hustle harder let's go But I'm achieving way more Because I'm surrendering man I just want God's best for me bro I'm just like dude you guide the way I'm just gonna I'm just gonna be obedient every day and it's completely transformed me man i'm more present with people like when i'm with someone now like i'm not i'm not trying to just and obviously you have to leave at some point but i try like when i'm filming a dream man i pray it up before i take time like hey whereas before i was like okay i got like 10 minutes let's what's your dream like kind of like treating it like it's a task you know and dude i think for the longest time i was trying to get to 10 000 as fast as possible like this mission is going to take me like 50 years bro and i'm like let's freaking tick tick tick tick tick and like now i've realized it's about the journey of getting to 10 000 not even achieving bro if i never get to 10 000 this was still worth it this is still the best way i could live my life is trying to help thousands of people discover who they were born to be bro um yeah dude i just feel like a different person man like it's honestly kind of freaking me out let's unpack it a bit more what are you doing in the morning like what does that actually look like that's changed like what why why has sending an email to god change your life every day bro you know what it is man it's prayer it's journaling because i'm saying this is what's up this is what's happening it's like it's intentional time with god bro and i know for some people it's just go for a walk and pray on the beach but for me bro for some reason sending an email to god kind of like i love sending emails you know that i've sent 15 it's perfect like it's honestly bro it's weird it's like one of my giftings is cold emailing i don't know what it is bro i feel like there's something going on because i keep reaching people through cold email and it freaks me out like i guess the prime minister of england's personal email address a year ago and he responded to me bro like i'm like what is going on so i wonder if there's some kind of gifting with outreach i don't know i'm trying to figure that out but it can also become a curse too and i think I've fallen into abusing that gift you know I think no matter what our gifting is you can abuse it too and it can actually become a bad thing and bro I found that there's been people I've become friends with and dude I've sent them like 15 cold emails but and then now I'm friends with them and I'm like bro please don't go through your inbox like I'm terrified they're gonna be like did you email me 15 times like I'm like so nervous about I'm like oh crap and it's because I wasn't trusting the process bro so i feel like i just trust god more now man like i trust everyone he needs me to meet i'm gonna meet everything that i dream of bro he knows that and he's gonna blow my mind and i just i've surrendered bro i just i've let go and i just feel so much more at peace bro even if it doesn't happen all the wildest dreams i'm okay with that as long as i'm just on mission man yeah it's you know what's you know what's kind of ringing in my mind now is
41:09with in the pursuit of trying to be so hustle bro like we forget that yeah in the pursuit of people first is so important yeah if we try and do something to get someone's attention and to attract them it kind of gives off a disgusting smell yes that you're chasing yes but when you show them that you care and you make them feel good and you make them feel seen and you acknowledge them and honor them and their time and their space, a byproduct is they just want to give you everything that they can. Yeah, yes. And so maybe, and as someone that's not a Christian yet and trying to go on his own walk, I'm trying to draw the parallels between how does God unlock that more?
42:16like what utility does does the belief and the faith in god have in unlocking that ability to be a people's person yeah first yeah um and i think the thing that's coming to my mind is the the surrendering to the greater good of stuff like we have all these goals these financial things these things we want to buy and all these trips we want to take and everything but none of it actually really matters without the people that you're doing those trips with the connections that you have the average tuesday that you spend in your local town yes none of it really matters and after you do enough of all of that stuff it becomes numb as we said earlier yeah so i guess what i'm thinking about is when there's a constant state of prayer a constant state of removing yourself from the center and a trust in a in in a god and a power that is controlling the moves like he's moving the chessboard not you it allows you to be present and show up to people in the best way possible and i feel when when we can access that everything becomes better because we're actually being here in all of the moments we're being aware of what matters we're showing up in a present way not in a way of i need to be elsewhere yeah and i think when we can do that not only do we achieve all of the things but we're also enjoying the process a whole lot more we're so much more happy yes absolutely bro it honestly bro it feels so simple way yeah it's so weird like you wish you could go back and shake your 20 year old self and be like, it's so simple.
44:02Just love people. Yeah. Serve people, love people. You would do anything for your friends. They don't even need to ask. You just want to help them achieve their dreams. And imagine that on a scale if you've got like you. But I think you got to be careful. It's so easy though to say this. But bro, I've had to check my heart a lot. like there's been times where I've gone to like send a text to someone and to encourage them and stop myself because I was like wait am I just hoping that they respond with this because then they might do this for me and I've had to check myself bro and be like wait I shouldn't send that text because I have a secret agenda to that text don't send it you have to be really honest with yourself bro and you want to try be as pure as possible and look we're human man of course we all want to grow and level up and oh you know this but you know but i think bro i think we just got to try be as pure as possible man and we will drop the ball we've all done that you go oh damn it i shouldn't have asked for that or but also you realize man the power of shooting your shot Most people aren't upset when you shoot your shot, you know I just like life sure bro.
45:27Just shoot your shot too, but also like just I think it's a different like if you were like hey, bro, like I'm trying to reach this person. Do you know how to get them? I'd be like dude, okay, let's let's figure this out If you email if you texted me every day for two months going hey, hey, hey, why aren't you hey, bro? You said that's different like this okay now we're entering a different like bro but i want you to win bro like i think most people want most people to win you know um i don't even know what i'm trying to say here bro yeah but i think the power in it is is like i think i think when you're when you're taking more than you're giving it's training for the other person yes yes and giving doesn't need mean money or whatever it's just whatever it is for example i've got a production all this week up in the valley and i'm doing it with elliot who you've connected with as well now if you were to objectively look at our relationship i'm giving i'm giving far more than i'm getting
46:38i've objectively i've been flying him around everywhere early days um paying for all of his stuff, booking the Airbnbs, sleeping on my couch, whatever I can, right? To help him out. Yeah. Buying his dinners, whatever, right? Objectively, if you look at it, I'm giving more than him. But he's giving me something that I don't have, which is someone else that's got that dog in him about podcasting. I have people that push me in business. I have people that push me in my health, but I don't have someone that pushes me in podcasting but he does that this guy's a dog when it comes to podcasting so that for me outweighs the money that I've spent on him it's fair exchange right and so I think if it got to a point where he was just abusing all of that and then never even giving me insight never even encouraging or chatting about podcasting with me, never even pulling me up on my shit when I'm slacking.
47:50If he wasn't doing all of that, all of a sudden it would start to feel a bit of a drag. I'd be like, this guy's just taking everything. And it's not even fair exchange. He's coming to my house and then going out and seeing all of his other friends and not really giving me any energy. It's like, come on, man. Like you're using me as a place to sleep. But it's not that. and I think we we need to be real with ourselves and go like how is this fair exchange really and I think if you if every party constantly looks at how can they serve this person in the best way possible how can I give give give give give in the best way that I can it will be fair exchange because people will see that you're trying you're caring you're showing up for them in the best way that you can.
48:38And the moment you snap out of that and you end up in the state of, what can I take? What can I take? What can I get? People smell that. They feel that. And they repel. They're gone. So I think that's all it is. Is how do we serve? How do we give? And the relationships will flourish. Yeah. And it's so like, and you don't have to spend money you don't have for that to, it could just be a text. Hey bro, love you. Encourage you. Have an amazing day. you're awesome like it could be as simple as a text and just bringing like a positivity to i hate but yeah dude it's i don't know dude i don't know if you do you send texts to people by the way like just random encouraging texts not enough oh dude i've just brought this into my life man i try to do one to text a day like a random like dude and i've gone back to like people from like primary school 20 years ago that i haven't talked to since and just sent them an encouraging text and it's so fun bro like this is something i've just brought into my life instagram or where just facebook and you like find them you like dude and you just encourage them and so like they're often like they want like a lot of the time they think you want something they're like wait why are you you'd be shocked at how often i've texted someone from 20 years ago and they've gone bro no way I was just thinking about you like two days ago like it's just it's so simple but like just encouragement just yeah loving people bro that's the key man and something like recently bro I kind of had to kick my ass into gear with is I had a backlog of dreams bro of like 40 like I had 40 in the backlog waiting to be edited and I some of them bro were from like a year ago and maybe it's i didn't like the shot maybe i i don't know and i was procrastinating on them but i was still posting you know gary v's like and i had to really like call myself out bro i'm like you're showing favoritism you're posting these guys if you if you just filmed justin bieber you would have posted justin bieber's dream within a day yet this dude from two years ago is still waiting for his dream to be edited.
50:57And bro, I felt convicted, man. Like, dude, this is not loving people. You can't, they've taken time out to be a part of this mission. They've trusted you with your dream, their dream. And you've just sat it in Dropbox for two years. And I had to go, bro, I felt God was like, get your butt to that backlog and chip away at every single one of those before I do anything else. It was almost like he put me on pause and was like, I'm not going to do anything here, bro, until you honor the past. And that's what I've done the last few weeks. I've gone through backlog. And now, bro, not to say that's why, but suddenly all these things are opening up.
51:37It's really, I'm like, I felt so convicted, bro. I was so ashamed. I'm like, I'm not loving people, bro. So you always got to check yourself and be honest. Like, am I really loving people? Like, am I honoring people, bro?
51:54I probably haven't taken that approach I've got people I've never released and there is a part where you still think about it it like eats you up what I'm thinking about is it's just adding more noise into my life and they probably think about it every now and then too I did that podcast, it never came out Oh, I must have done a bit. Or I did a horrible job. Yeah. Oh, it was because I screwed up. Yeah. And sometimes they do. Yeah. Like, I guess my thing is, you know, like there's a couple of big names I've recorded with and I've never released. And it was, I'm just petty, bro. Like. Yeah. They'll lie to me.
52:40And I'm like, don't lie. Or like something like this, right? Or like put on a front and do something weird. Yeah. And like, it's not faithful, it's lying. And I go, well, I don't want to amplify that. So then I just like, I think when I got so, I got so scarred from people seeing everything that I do as a dollar sign and trying to use me as a transaction, not a person. I got so scarred from it that I just went, I'm not having it. Yes, that posting that pod will grow my show. Yes, doing the collaboration will get me access to all of his massive network. But I just felt drained after it. Yeah. I don't want it.
53:24Yeah. So like there was a piece there that made me go, no. But if I'm being real with myself, I think about it every now and then. It owns real estate in my mind. Yes. Yeah. Jack, we should release that pod. Dude, that's why I find if something's keeping me up at night, action it doesn't keep me up at night though but i do think about it every now and then and so i think that's an interesting point but you know this whole thing around dreams
54:02if if you would ask me what my dream is wait can i ask you that okay okay yeah we probably got what like 510 Chris what's your dream bro
Read the full transcript
54:15he's doing it people listen to the long form I'm sure they're gonna hear it hear the dream bro thought about this man and you know what I think if I if I think about it truly I feel I want this combination of peace joy and fulfillment in my life or an overarching term called happiness one might say but if we unpack each of those peace joy and fulfillment where can i access those things i think there's a lot of dreams tied towards it if i think about peace i think about that woman that i've just met in my life yeah and how much peace she's bringing me she kind of turns the volume down on all of my problems but that acts that access piece but in order to be able to show up fully and be present with her i feel i need to have something to strive towards in my days that fulfills me yeah so the mission of something that springs me out of bed that lights me up allows me to show up to her and be present and the people around me to be present which then unlocks this peace and this joy in my life that I really want and crave and love.
55:37So then I go, what's fulfillment? Service. Service of others and things that are outside of me. Whether that's vertically with God or whether that's with the people that I meet, the places that I go, the impact I can have. I feel in order to be able to access the peace and the joy with the people in my life the relationships that I build romantically platonically I need to serve and that's what this podcast is about that's what that's what the actions I'm taking the education company I have to give to help people unlock the lives they truly want to live and to play my role in making that better and I think ultimately when I do that and I tick off that box the only thing that remains is having enough time to point the finger back at me to be able to grow myself yeah to look at how i'm showing up for others and how i can make that better how i'm living in alignment with me that soul letting that soul lead the way not the head like removing all the decisions from up here to down here and having this space for myself to check in because I feel if I do that and then I serve I'm going to be able to show up in my life and access the most amount of peace and joy with the people in my life as I think that is the key fundamental to my fulfillment and my peace and my happiness in my life yeah and you know while that may not be like some big grandacious dream you know I've got on my phone number one podcast in the world but none of all of that matters yeah if i can't sit in silence by myself show up and be present with the people around me and create a life that's in alignment with me i can have all of these big goals and don't get me wrong i have them but i think ultimately right the only thing that all those goals are trying to do is to bring me back to here so that i can be present with the people around me in my life and so I think my dream is to build a life that allows me to be here and nowhere else be with people that fill me up not drain me and I feel when I get to the end of my life and I'm looking back at it that's going to be the only thing that really mattered and I think there's many things in life that help unlock that like God having a mission having something outside of you that's so great and not losing sight of that is an ever going pursuit and it's a journey that I'm willing to take and live and I feel like I feel like that will end me in a good spot yeah that's beautiful bro
58:48yeah because
58:53Because if you think about all of the moments that we look back on and laugh, if we think about all of the things we draw on, the memory dividends, the things that we relive and share with our friends, if we think about all of the best ones, they were not planned. Yeah, no. They might have been planned by something greater, but they were not planned by you and your monkey brain. They happened when you were least expecting it. The girl I fell in love with, I ran into her when she complimented my shoes at a smoothie shot while we were both in a completely different city to where we're from.
59:35Like everything that is the greatest moments that we always look back on and laugh with our friends and by ourself and with the people that were around were never planned. Yeah. so to think that our happiness our fulfillment our joy is going to come from something that we schedule in the calendar it's not it's going to be when we're most present when we're most here and if we can just do all of the things that help us be present yeah I think life becomes quite good all the moments that I don't like my life as much is when I have so much noise in my life that I can't be here. Yeah. So that's my dream, bro.
1:00:25I see you, bro. Dude, that's a fire dream, man. That's so fire, bro. Come on. Let's go. See, you lit up. I lit up. See, people light up. Every single person lights up, bro. Yeah. And I feel the dream needs to be aligned with who you truly are. Yes. my dream starting probably would have been how nice my house would have been and how nice all of the things are yeah they're just things yeah they don't matter yeah bro we've just had a blast we got no shoes on on the beach the camera sitting crooked we got two uh that's holding up on some birkenstock shout out des cam free trial and i just think that there's something magic in that bro like there's something in the fact that we're just here yeah yeah you know dude i had to move from new zealand to malibu like moving to one of the most renowned areas on the planet malibu as soon as i moved here bro it's like i stopped caring about things it's so weird everything's here everyone here is like made it to some degree and i feel like a moving here i'm just like i don't care it's so weird bro you know the same thing it'd be the opposite moving to malibu would make you want the nice calm or it'd make you want the mansion like i genuinely was like nah i i don't care even like networking i'm like i don't care like i i just feel so present here this and you know what's crazy though is i feel the same way but at the same time i just had this overarching feeling of but i'm gonna get it all anyway uh-huh you just have trust like oh there's no way to live in a malibu you're not gonna bump into the people you need to believe it's just and and also like it's expensive here dude you gotta you gotta make it work there's no there's no excuse yeah and So, yeah.
1:02:25You know, the thing that I think about is if you've got a high achieving mind,
1:02:33then if you surrender and let go, you will win. Yeah. There's people that don't have any abundance outlook on life and they're very scarce and they're hanging on to every shekel and they're working their job and whatever. If you surrender, you probably won't achieve all of the things. But if you have this abundant, high achieving mind that you know you're destined for great things, just let go, bro. It will. Like if you let go and you have that mindset, things will flow. You give off this energy that people want to be around. Yeah. And I'm feeling that, dude. And whether it takes me a little bit longer, sure.
1:03:13Take the scenic route, bro. I have 80 years to live, man. We got time. Yes. We got time. And you don't want it. Until you're ready anyway. If you got everything you dreamt of at 21, bro, if I became the biggest filmmaker in the world at 21, I would have blown it all up. I would have been an absolute rat bag. Yeah, God didn't want you to have it at 21. Bro, and praise God that it didn't happen, bro. I would have been such a dick because I was already a dick. And so it would have just, bro. and and dude i find like the more i the more i bless financially like the more i give financially bro the more i just get like it's really like reverse it's like the more i let go of my finances it's it bro it just god just keeps spreading and the more i'm like this i'm straight i'm waking up in the middle of the night freaking out about money dude just surrender man we're so malibu bro look at us man we're like so rick rubin you and me right now in the ebbs in the ebbs and flows money comes and goes that's that's like that's like i love the saying i say this it's like if you are willing to let it out it will come back in just like the waves on the ocean it's just always another set bro it always another set there's always another even if there's a low are we getting to malibu right now always another because you know the crystal you're like bro what is that we go really like what is going yeah i appreciate you dude dude i love you man this was meant to be bro i feel that um i feel that if there's one message i just want to take away i want people to take away from this why don't you guys don't have to take take away whatever you will from this conversation there's no rules here but one thing that i truly feel is there's a glow in some people and if you don't feel that glow in yourself unpack people that do have that glow and what they're doing because there's so much noise in the world there's so much shit yeah and if you just bring it back to human connection bringing it back to people Who are the people that light you up the most?
1:05:29Who are the people that are lit up the most? Yeah, maybe not who are the people that light you up the most. Who are the people that are lit up the most? Because if you're not lit up by the people that are lit up, then there's something internal about you that they're mirroring, telling you that you're not doing something in alignment with yourself. Who are the people that are lit up the most, that light up and have so much energy? Yes. What are they doing to have that? It's contagious. Figure it out. Try and do something like that. because the energy of people tells you a lot about how aligned they are with themselves yes there's so much noise and if there's one thing i can take away from this is check in with yourself and live in that way and if you do that with a constant move forward of like of like progression on a mission yeah you'll get there dude like you you will achieve everything that you want and probably something greater absolutely greater and uh and i just want to encourage and and commend you because like dude you're you're just radiating thanks man it's like so sick and um thank you and i want to uh yeah i want more people in the world like you you're crushing it and you're doing really cool things and and it's an honor to have you in my life i appreciate that so much bro let's both try to be more like steve erwin I feel like he's the best example of something that radiate Let's just be like Steve Owen bro Let's go I love you man I love you dude We're signing out Thank you for this bro Appreciate you Bye bye I see you Avatar Fire and Ash is now streaming on Disney Plus It's the film critics are calling the best Avatar yet Go go go go A true epic and completely jaw dropping This is the only purest thing in this world Return to Pandora on Disney Plus It will be an adventure for the whole family.

Every rule was broken in this episode and I couldn't be happier. Today's episode is with Fraser Grut, my good friend and what better way to do it in his style.
Fraser is on a mission to film 10,000 dreams (a 50 year mission) and he does it in such a cool, raw, authentic style. I let him steer the ship creatively with this one and I love how it turned out.
We deep dive on God, having a mission, the importance of dreams and everything in between.
Fraser is a ball of life and has the most contagious energy. I hope you can feel it through the screen. Enjoy
