In short

Overreaction Monday’s 2026 NFL season preview with Rich Eisen and Chris Brockman making bold predictions about playoff turnover, top quarterbacks, specific teams’ paths, and standout individual awards.

Guests

Troy Aikman (former Dallas Cowboys QB, Pro Football Hall of Famer) appears as the Tuesday guest preview; no other guests are in the episode.

Key claims/predictions

No four new playoff teams for the first time since 1990; Raiders rookie Fernando Mendoza will lead Vegas in passing and be an Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist (with Kirk Cousins starting week 1); the NFL’s “top five” quarterbacks won’t change much; Jesse Minter’s arrival will help the Ravens break through; Bills (AFC) and a never-Super-Bowl team will reach the Super Bowl; Rams will make the Super Bowl; Steelers could be Aaron Rodgers’ “last year” story; Texans regret not extending C.J. Stroud if they get the 1 seed; Lions will have the NFL’s number-one offense; Baker Mayfield winning the NFC South would push him toward a $60M/year deal.

Notable examples

1990 playoff-team turnover stat; Raiders schedule stretch; Ravens defensive issues; Cowboys QB debate (Dak vs Aikman/Staubach); Rams roster strengths (Devante Adams, Trent McDuffie, defensive awards); Steelers schedule leading into a Sunday Night Rodgers-vs-Burrow matchup.

0:35Rich Eisen:we have made it the it being the national football league regular season it is time to kick things off come on for real it's time for the 2026 season preview edition of overreaction monday rich eisen and chris brockman good to see you sir hey rich how are you man uh and i have to just say for those who are watching this show on youtube and i'll describe it uh for those who are listening however you get your podcasts for those watching on youtube chris and i are not wearing the same shirt it is not it is it's a different color it's a different shade it's just a little darker just reading wrong yeah it's just uh you know um and again i just had to say that right off the top so people aren't like wondering like is it a season preview or is it just two bald guys in the same shirt you know what what show are we watching that's right okay your tennessee titan season preview hey yes we're just fired up hey i'm so excited it's labor day on the day that we're actually sending this out into the universe if you're listening to it or watching it throughout the rest of the week it is time for the national football league season to finally commence in 2026 overreaction monday is here hit it That was terrible.

1:52Rich Eisen:That was crap. That was garbage. This play sucked. Overreaction. Mondays. Monday. Christopher, what do you have over there? Rich, I got 12 items up for bids. 12. For this season preview. Fantastic. Here we go. What do you have? Rich, as you know, every single year we get turnover in the playoffs. We get new teams and new coaches and new faces and new players. Yes, sir. Not this year. For the first time since 1990, we won't have four new playoff teams. What a bummer for those four teams that didn't make it last year that's hoping to make it this year. That's what I'm saying. Every year we get at least four new ones.

2:35I'm saying we're getting less than that. And 1990 is the last time? 1990 was the new division alignment and all that fun stuff. I see what you're saying, and it's not happening under the new alignment.

2:44Rich Eisen:It has not. We've always had four. We've always had four. I don't know if this is an overreaction or not, but you did research for this? I did. Okay. I looked up when was the last time. I don't mean to disrespect. Yeah, I know what I'm just saying. Yeah. Okay. So let's go. Yeah, please put it there. Last year's playoff team. Last year's playoff team. Okay. Broncos are making it again, I believe. Chargers are making it again, I believe. Bills are making it again, I believe. I think the Jaguars and Texans are making it again, I believe. The Patriots, again, I look at that 14-3. and it's just like, really?

3:19Yeah, they were awesome last year.

3:21Rich Eisen:They were. The defense was awesome last year. And Drake may. Second in scoring. When you have a top five defense and an MVP candidate quarterback, you score a lot of points. Right. And a coach of the year. Right. 14 and three. I'm just placing the Jaguars and I'm placing the Patriots and Steelers aside. Okay. Seahawks are making it again. Rams are making it again. I don't know if the Panthers are making it again, but somebody from the NFC South is going to make it. Somebody that will make it. So I would just put that aside. There's one. And I guess, you know, I've got to then put the Steelers in because somebody from the AFC North is making it.

4:01Rich Eisen:But you're saying new playoff teams. So we can't put the Panthers aside. I'll put the Panthers aside. I'm leaving the Panthers in here for the moment.

4:12Man.

4:13Rich Eisen:Again, this is what I say. Hold on. Eagles are making it again. Rams are making it again. And Seahawks are making it again. I believe the Bears are going to make it again. The 49ers and the Panthers are the ones jumping at the screen at me. Okay. And that's what I say to you. I always say when you look at the teams that we're putting teams in, you're putting the Ravens and the Chiefs and all these other things. Then who comes out? No, I know that. So I'm saying I had the Bengals winning the AFC North. So the Steelers being out, interesting. I'll say this is not an overreaction. how about that oh i'll say it's not an overreaction that for the first time in forever since we are on a disney platform um i will go out and sit man that'll be the first time in the new format dude that's 36 years there's always four new playoff teams always i'll just say it's an over I'm going to zag with you while everyone else is zigging.

5:15Rich Eisen:Fun. It is. Put a pin in that one for a season preview. Never know. We're waiting for you to start. Never know. Okay. All right, let's talk about the number one pick. Can't get enough of Mendoza mania, Raider Nation, all that fun stuff. I know he's not starting week one. They announced it. It's Kirk Cousins. But Fernando Mendoza is going to play. He's going to lead the Raiders in passing, and he's going to be an Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist. Oh, I think he'll be an Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist if he plays. leading Vegas in passing yards if he plays. I just don't know if he's going to play.

5:48Rich Eisen:You know? I mean, the Raiders, I think, should win week one against Miami. And then, oh, boy, their next five games is something else. Are tough. Again, at Chargers, at New Orleans, home for Kansas City, at New England, home for Buffalo, home for the Rams. Jeez Louise. So he's going to get in there? Yeah, I don't think there's an overreaction either. Okay. I just think he's fantastic You know how I feel about him Neck up, I think he's going to be good Yeah, I do too Neck down, I think he's tall And he is 1000 % athletic And just as gutsy as it gets, man We have Mendoza mania here We do Not just because it's available on a t-shirt At richeyesandshop.com We are 1000 % Mendoza fans Yeah, I'm in For good reason So I do believe Cousins at some point is going to struggle just because that's the way this team's going to play.

6:49Rich Eisen:And it's going to be difficult to play up to their opponents. They could be two and one if they win at New Orleans, but I don't know if the Saints are going to be anybody's homecoming either. It's just that next stretch, Kansas City at New England, home for Buffalo, home for the Rams before they visit the Jets in week eight. That may be a spot that everybody says could be a soft part of the schedule. Then they're at, by the way, their next three weeks after that, at San Francisco, home for Seattle, at Denver. I know. So the leading the Raiders in passing yards might be the catch here. Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist, you know, Tyler Shuck, came in midway through last season and was won, and almost won the award.

7:33Rich Eisen:Yeah. it's the passing yards thing that might be the issue because cousins might get half a season um i'll i just don't i don't want to speak anything negative into the ether about this beacon of positivity i'll just say this is a i'm with you on this one not i'm not this is not an overreaction okay what else chris this one is fun now earlier we've been doing top fives all year top tens about the position groupings that we were doing, right? Your quarterback list. Yes, sir. At the end of the 2026 season, the top five quarterbacks will look completely different. Meaning what? Meaning how do you see it right now?

8:14The top five quarterbacks in the NFL are what? It's Alan Lamar, Burroughs, Stafford, and. No, no, no.

8:22Rich Eisen:I named Alan Lamar. Well, I was. Patrick Mahomes, right? You're talking about the power rankings that I conducted after Jeremy Fowler's ESPN.com series. Right. I had Allen one, Mahomes two. And then I think I had Burrow three, Stafford and Lamar. Great. And then I had Dak at six. But that top five, that's the top five we all kind of just generally agree upon are the five best. I'm saying at the end of this season, we're going to say, uh-uh. We have a new top five. We have new names in the mix. The usual suspects are not. Herbert. Herbert, Hertz, Dak, Drake May. It's not going to be the usual five suspects.

9:10Rich Eisen:Caleb Williams. So that means all has to happen is one of the five stays that it is? I'm saying it's going to look completely different. Multiple new guys enter into the play. All five or not. Maybe all five. Maybe only Josh Allen. I'll push back on this one. No, Josh Allen's going to have an outstanding season. Mahomes is going to come back and show everybody he's still Patrick freaking Mahomes. I don't know about that. Burrow, I think I've told you, I'm all in on him, man. I just love the way he's talking. I love the way he's talking, and I don't think it's born out of like now or never means I'm not going to want to be here in Cincinnati anymore.

9:44Rich Eisen:It's now or never because the guy's constantly hurt. He's feeling healthy, and he sees Chase healthy. thank goodness that was just a scare a couple weeks ago right um in in a in his practice um he sees higgins healthy he sees the defense having uh mafe added from seattle and and dexter jackson added from the giants he sees that um and he's feeling good so i i'm not giving up on him and i think lamar is going to have a hell of a season with the new offensive coordinator and Declan Doyle coming from the Ben Johnson world. I can't wait to see what that looks like. And Stafford's going to be frigging Stafford.

10:23Rich Eisen:Everyone can't be awesome. Everyone is awesome right now. And I'm pushing back on you and saying this one's an overreaction. The top five is going to look mostly the same. And you're not going to come here. Let's put a pin in this one and revisit it after week eight. Okay. Put a pin in that one. After week eight, let's see how does it look different. Do we really see the first half of the season looking like, okay, one of these other guys has cracked the top five. And when you say look completely different, it's got to be at least three of the five. It's got to be a majority of the five. And I will say that is not happening.

10:58Okay.

10:59Rich Eisen:That is definitely not happening. All right, deal. How dare you? I like it. Okay. One of the guys I think is going to be in the mix for that top five, and it's going to break through finally this season. I wish TJ was here. Dak Prescott, Rich Eisen. If Dallas wins Super Bowl 61, we're going to be talking about Dak Prescott as the best Cowboys quarterback of all time.

11:28No way.

11:30Rich Eisen:Come on, man. How dare you? Our Tuesday guest to kick off once again our week to start an NFL season, just like last year when we made our Rich Eisen show debut on the Disney Plus platform and the ESPN radio platform, Troy Aikman. That's three. He had three of them. Roger Staubach. He's got a bust in the Hall of Fame. Come on now. And Dak's going to get his. Dak's going to put up numbers that these other quarterbacks could only dream of. Troy, all due respect, never had, what, more than 3 ,200 yards passing in the season? I get it. Never threw for 30 touchdowns. Best Dallas quarterback of all time.

12:06It's that guy right there, Dak Prescott.

12:08Rich Eisen:Well, Dak has got to do more than just win one Super Bowl for that, pal. Roger won multiple and Aikman won multiple and both of them are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I understand that in the history of the Dallas Cowboys, it's kind of crazy. They've never had a quarterback be a regular season, most valuable player. That's nuts to me. That's neither Staubach nor Aikman nor anybody else. I think Dak's going to want a regular season. Well, I mean, if they win the Super Bowl, that means they're probably going to win their division. I mean, more likely than not, they'll win their division. And if they win their division and they make the Super Bowl, more likely than not, they're going to have two home games in the playoffs, which means that they had such a remarkable regular season that Dak could win the MVP.

13:00Rich Eisen:But of all time, you could say he's had one of the best seasons that Dallas quarterbacks ever had. If he wins the MVP trophy in the regular season, which no one has ever done, and he wins the Super Bowl, He would be the first Dallas Cowboy quarterback to pull that one off. But come on now. Come on now. Let's be respectful of Aikman's three and Starbucks run as well. No, that's an overreaction. Dak is going to put up numbers these guys could only dream of. Numbers, what does that mean? Numbers, then he's going to win the big one. Okay. And then that's going to be the dam that breaks open for Dallas.

13:32Rich Eisen:Hang the numbers, hangs the banner, breaks the dam open. And then suddenly is the greatest Dallas Cowboy quarterback ever? Yes. That's nuts. he's gonna have to do it again he's gonna have to do it again i think he will you really do i love are you just saying that because you just like this idea and you don't like that i'm rejecting it right now that part of it too thank you sir rich eisen here for gusto on my shows we talk a lot about what happens in the spotlight the games the highlights and the moments that get replayed and debated but in any successful operation what happens behind the scenes matters just as much small businesses are no different payroll hiring onboarding benefits and all the details that keep things moving may not be the most visible part of the job, but they still have to be handled right.

15:37Rich Eisen:What else? Here we go. Moving on. Here we go. You started so well, and now we're, what, four in, and it's two and two now. All right, let's see what you think about this one. It's a tiebreaker. Which way we're going? We got a new head coach in Baltimore. You like what Jesse Minter's bringing to the table. I do. You like the offense he's bringing for Lamar Jackson. He's rapping Eminem. This could finally be the year the Ravens break through, To end, Jesse Minter is going to have Ravens fans wishing they had hired him sooner.

16:08Got a little stagnant there at the end of their John Harbaugh.

16:11Rich Eisen:Well, the one that everybody's saying, they had Mike McDonald there. You know? And they're seeing him go somewhere else. You know? So, I'm trying to pick up what you mean by this. Like, I think he's going to have a terrific season. And again, I keep talking about how well the Bengals are going to look and play. How good they're going to look and how well they're going to play. So, you know. I guess what I'm saying is they probably hung on to John Harbaugh a little too long. Well, I mean, that's already the narrative. That's already the narrative that people are saying. And so the fact that Minter can come in and start winning football games and a division.

16:52Rich Eisen:Right away. Immediately. And take them to at least the second round of the playoffs. Maybe one seed. No, I, I, that would be a tall order, man. A one seed. Again, I am excited for the Ravens. I'm excited for their season. I'm excited to see what Lamar is going to do in this new. They were just the one seed. Not that long. I think Derek Henry's going to keep proving about that. 30 is just a number. Zay flowers. I picked up in one of our, one of our, one of my fantasy leagues, because I think, you know, he had a thousand yard season last year. Let's see what he can do now that he's been paid. Minter is absolutely going to tighten up the defense, which was a massive problem for the Ravens more than the offense was last year.

17:29Rich Eisen:So I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm giving all the good reasons why you are right. Um, you know, so at the end of the day, I don't think this is an overreaction. I mean, it's entirely, I love the guy. I love the guy. I love what he brings to the defensive side of the, uh, of the equation. I think he's going to a leader of men that has seen close up with the, what the hardball system is. He was in Baltimore. or he already understands what the Ravens franchise is requesting, looking for. Bashadi's a great owner. You know, DaCosta's a GM that most people outside of Las Vegas appreciate. You know, so I don't think this is an overreaction.

18:10He's going to break it through for them. Okay, what else? It's been a while.

18:13Rich Eisen:What else we got? How about this one, Rich Eisen? There have been 14 teams who have never won the Super Bowl. Did you know that? Okay. 14. A team that has never won it. One of those 14. they will at least make it this year here in Los Angeles. I'm already thinking, you know, where do I go on the AFC to, you know, make the Super Bowl, right? Are you penciling it? You already have Rams for NFC? I'm not there yet either. I mean, again, you know, on Tuesdays, Rich Eisen show is when I make the announcement every single year. so a team that's never won the Super Bowl will at least make it this year um so the Bills would suffice on that regard the Chargers would suffice in that regard the Jacksonville Jaguars would correct in that regard correct um the Cincinnati Bengals would would suffice in that regard um obviously the Patriots are out on that front um obviously the Chiefs are out on that front the Broncos are out on that front the Colts are out on that front the Texans have never won a Super Bowl, they've never made a Super Bowl so I thought that's where you're going a team that's never made the Super Bowl it kind of narrows the list out a little bit smaller list so I'll buy this one too I think the Bills can absolutely make it you think that comes from the AFC yeah of course that's more likely than not to mix our segments.

19:45Rich Eisen:I mean, the Rams. The Lions have never won a Super Bowl. I got it. But the Cowboys have won a Super Bowl. Yeah. The Eagles have won a Super Bowl. The Niners, Seahawks, and Rams have won a Super Bowl. Okay. The Buccaneers have won a Super Bowl. Bears. Right. The Saints have won a Super Bowl. I see what you're doing. Come on now. I got you. You know what I mean? I got you. So today, I have to do it. Yes, the pool of teams that have never won a Super Bowl for me to agree that this is not an overreaction. Okay. You know, and that's half of the league, almost. 14 teams. So, yeah, the AFC would be the candidate for it rather than the NFC.

20:27Rich Eisen:That's for sure. The Packers have won a Super Bowl. You know, the Vikings haven't. But I think the AFC definitely is the conference conference from which this is not an overreaction. Okay, great. And certainly since the Bills are a team that I believe is a favorite of it, but the Ravens have never won a Super Bowl, so we take them out of the mix too. Yeah, they're out. They've won twice, sir. This message is brought to you by Apple Card. With Apple Card, you earn unlimited daily cash back on everyday purchases like groceries, merch, or tickets to the game. 21:59Rich Eisen:Second half, what do you got? Let's turn up the heat the Texans are going to regret not giving CJ Stroud an extension before he leads Houston to the AFC one seed this year. That's an overreaction. Texans one seed price goes up. He's got to play like he did his rookie season, which he has not done in a regular season since, which he will when they get the one seed for a one. That's what, that's what I'm, that's what I'm saying. I know what you're saying. I'm saying we haven't seen him play one seed-ish since his rookie season. His last two regular seasons have been less than. But he shows you he has a knack for playing a playoff game better than he does for most of his career as a regular season quarterback.

22:53Rich Eisen:So I don't know if the Texans are going to be the one seed. Nor will they wind up thus regretting they didn't give him a contract extension. because at the end of the day, let's just say that he does get a one seed, right? 13-4. Let's say he does that. Texans, one seed. Let's say he does that, right? Would they regret not giving him that contract if that's what sparked the flame? That's what lit it? They'll take it. Wow. And then they won't regret it. Then they'll have seen that it's worthy of it. And what would it cost them? A few more million bucks a year. Probably 12 to 15 million per year.

23:30no do you think so if he's the one seed and let's say they win the super bowl right if i'm him 65 per year please right i hear you the old

23:44Rich Eisen:bag i get it i just don't see it man i don't see them regretting it and whatever it is it'll be whatever the amount of money per year that they'll figure out that they're lamenting. They'll make whatever cap ramification adjustments they have to make, and I'm sure the salary cap will go up to the point where it'll cover it. Stroud has won a playoff game each of his first three. He sure has. Does he go four for four? Oh, I think so. Okay. I think so. I think what will end up happening is I think they will... I think the Jaguars are going to win the division. If I'm wrong, then they do, right? Right.

24:27Rich Eisen:Okay. And so either way, the one thing that we know for sure is they'll be the first game of wild card weekend. Saturday. That's not an overreaction, is it? Saturday, three Eastern. Saturday first up. That's right. Texans v. whoever. That's funny. Or whoever v. Texans, depending if they win the division. Can we get them in primetime this year? Come on. Absolutely not. Come on. That will not happen. Come on. What else? Rich Eisen, you love running backs. You want them to get paid. I'm a giver. you really are and i'm gonna give him this what do you got multiple running backs will threaten two i said 2 000 yards rushing this season who are they gibbs and bijon that's the easiest that's the easiest one those are the nobody saw james cook leading the league in rushing that is correct but he didn't come he didn't sniff 2 000 yards jonathan taylor sniffs 2 000 yards this year Devin H.

25:24And sniffs to have an eight chance. Not sniffing 2000 yards. He's getting 40, 40 carries per game. Didn't you hear Jeff Halfway? Tell us that on our program.

25:31Rich Eisen:I get it. But at the end of the day, at the end of the day, somebody thousand yard seasons come out of nowhere. Right. Chris Johnson, Jamal Lewis. These guys come out of nowhere. Or Saquon. Is that out of nowhere? I mean, that wasn't expected. I know. I mean, Derek Henry, you like that guy should get 2000 yards in a season. And he did. I'll call this an overreaction as much as I love it. I like where you're coming from. I'm just going to call that an overreaction. I mean, the 2 ,000-yard seasons are particularly special. They are. And I just saw one two years ago. I know. I don't think enough teams run it.

26:09Rich Eisen:The Ravens do. That's why Derrick Henry gets those opportunities. You know, the Bills gave Cook all those chances, but the other chances, he gets vultured by his own quarterback. I think it's Allen. I know. So, yeah. I don't think we're going to have multiple ones. I don't think we're going to have one of them. How about that? I'm going to go in the other direction. Bichon and Jameer are too involved in the passing game. That's a way to run it. Same thing with James Cook. We need teams that run the football. Saquon was the last one to threaten. I think Jonathan Taylor is going to do it. That's a different story.

26:47I think he's going to do that. Okay. What else? All right, let's talk about one of your boys. He's our boy too. Rich, he had a contract dispute this year. Didn't get resolved. So he's going into this year with a massive chip on his shoulder. What do you got for me for Baker? Once Baker wins the NFC South this year, Baker Mayfield is going to be a$60 million a year quarterback.

27:09Rich Eisen:Oh, man. I hope that for him. I don't think that'll happen. $60 million. Who's going to be the next$60 million guy? Well, it's either Caleb or Drake May. They're up. after this season, after their third year, and if they equal their years last year. I don't know. I don't see either franchise saying we're going to 60. Well, the Patriots are being a little stingy with Christian Gonzalez's contract right now, so that's not a good sign for Jake May. Jerry's the only one. Technically, I think Mahomes cash. Cash-wise, Mahomes gets it. Right, but you're talking about APY. Yeah. Average per year. Annual per year.

27:46Right?

27:48Rich Eisen:Even though that's redundant. What if Denver goes to the Super Bowl? Does the Knicks get 60? No. It's not going to be Stroud either, pal. No matter one seed or not. Yeah. How about this? He'd have to get it somewhere else. Interesting. I think they're going to win the South. What if? I'd take them to win the South. Would Pittsburgh give him 60? Baker Mayfield? Not a chance Pittsburgh's going to give him 60. The problem is for somebody like Baker to be up asking for 60, I don't know, is if you're Pittsburgh, you're going to go get Baker or you're going to go get a kid in the draft and start from scratch and hand him off to McCarthy.

28:34Rich Eisen:That's what I'm saying. This guy's a proven winner. I'm not denying you. I know. I'm just pointing out. And I'm not denying that. 60 mil is a significant number. That's 60 right now. I know. That's because Jerry gave it to him two years ago when he just blew the lid off the market. I bet you he was sitting there thinking, I know where this is going. Right. And by the end of this contract, this will be an inexpensive number. And he's been off on that. You know, he's been off on that. And a lot of other teams are being scared off of those$50 million a year contracts because look at, you know, Atlanta's week one starter.

29:13Rich Eisen:We don't know. We don't know if they, we don't know who the week one starter is. Or it could be. Right now. Right? So. yeah brother i'll say the first part you had me at hello winning the nfc south the fact that that's going to get baker 60 million a year from the bucks no way 12 and 5 yeah nfc championship okay baker mvp finalist that doesn't get 60 um from the bucks i don't know who from from someone 60 is a large number okay 12 and 5 mvp candidate nfc championship game would be an outstanding year for baker mayfield betting on himself and just saying i'm pissed and now what and now what i would love that for him jets jets give him 60 Does he want to go to the Jets?

30:10Rich Eisen:A lot of good young players. I think, you know, I don't know. A lot of good young players. But I'm rooting for him, as you know. I just find this one an overreaction. Same, same. Here's a guy that we also like. We like their team. We like their coach. But we don't talk about him specifically enough. Jared Goff deserves more respect as an elite quarterback. Oh, yeah. And the Lions are going to have the number one offense this year. I'm with you. I'm with you. oh, I don't think there's an overreaction at all. I think the Lions are winning the division. I was the only one on our set to say that. And the way they win their division is that Drew Petsing is the right OC for the moment.

30:52Rich Eisen:It took them a year to get the post-Ben Johnson plan right. Yep. And Goff is a high-level elite quarterback, 100%. And he doesn't get enough respect for it. That is correct. And Gibbs and Amon Ra and Jamison Williams, just for three. Laporta as a four. I have taken flyers in multiple fantasy leagues on Isaac Tesla. Multiple. We just need Hutch to be healthy, and we need the rest of that defense to not get IR'd because the football gods are still angry. But that's got nothing to do with the number one offense. Why wouldn't they have the number one offense? I just, like, if they were the Chiefs, right?

31:52Rich Eisen:Or just a spot that is used to having the number one offense, right? Yep. Yeah, we'd be talking about this team so much more. Get out of here. Yeah. If they were the Rams? Oh, man. Amon Ra and Jamison Williams and Jared Goff and Jameer Gibbs. Detroit needs a better PR team. That's what you're saying. You had me a hello on this one. Okay. Two more. You could say that about everything about Detroit needing a PR team. Better one. What else? They're America's team. If they're in the Super Bowl, look out. Dude, it came so damn close to the last time. The perfect America's team Super Bowl is Buffalo against Detroit.

32:30Rich Eisen:We were talking about that two years ago. That'd be great. Great Super Bowl. It would be. Rich, here we go. Aaron Rodgers has said this is his last year. He has. He had. Uh-oh, you're saying it won't be? I don't know if I believe him. I don't know what you can believe coming out of this guy's mouth. But if the Steelers win the AFC North and a playoff game, Aaron Rodgers is going to think about coming back for 2027. you're telling me i i need to get inside his head right now i'm telling i am telling you let's fast forward to january steelers 11 and 6 win the north home game they beat having a time of his life having the time of his life throwing touchdowns 35 plus touchdowns he looks outstanding looks like mvp aaron rogers why not you think he's gonna retire why not mike mccarthy it's 2010 all over again can't figure out the quarterback spot otherwise for the next they don't know what they're doing they don't have the they don't have the kids not ready they don't know rogers one more year okay and he you know you don't think he's one of those guys now i told you it's over so give me the week by which he's asked are you sure this is his last year okay okay do we have the steelers schedule let's let's throw it up let's because i want to look at like how are we How are we doing?

33:55Let's play Steelers win loss.

33:57Rich Eisen:How about this? How about see? Look at the front end of this schedule. Very favorable. Very favorable. How is it favorable? Twice Cleveland. I'm saying after you're assuming New Orleans is, is, uh, that's in Paris, bro. I mean, that's going to be, they win. They go to new England and win. They did it last year. They beat Cincinnati. They're four. No, they beat the Colts. Let's give it a six and two record after eight, six and two heading into the bi-week maybe seven and one at Cincinnati at Philadelphia, home for Denver, home for Houston at Jacksonville, home for Baltimore. That's a six week stretch that can age anybody, whether you're in your twenties, the end of the season's rough.

34:34Rich Eisen:Okay. Home for Carolina at Tennessee at Baltimore. And then you finish up winning. What'd you say? 11 and six, 12 and five. Say week 18 is for the North, right? And they beat Baltimore. You're saying coming out of the bye at Cincinnati, there's six and two coming out of the bye. He's feeling healthy. And he's playing. Wow. He looks good. Hey, Aaron, Aaron, are you sure you're not coming back next year? There it is. Out of the bye. Out of the bye. Hey, Aaron, I know you said this is your last year, but, you know, the way you guys look, the offense looks great with McCarthy. Have you given any thought to maybe this is not it?

35:03Rich Eisen:By the way, very thoughtful way for you to phrase it. All right, so out of the bye, leading into the week at Cincinnati, Rodgers versus Burrow. You know what I mean? See, is that game on a, is that a night game? Both guys are balling. that's CBS CBS oh no yeah no it's Sunday night football oh see alright there you go and Mike Tomlin asks him the question hey Tomlin sit down interview Tomlin sit down with Rodgers sit down Aaron I you know Aaron you look great this is it I don't think Tomlin goes higher register I don't think he's capable we just nailed it there you go why not I like it I think it's a good one I like it indeed alright so So we got that going for us.

35:52Rich Eisen:And how about this? We have Cam Hayward on our show every Tuesday during the season. Starting week one Tuesday. If you're listening to this or watching this on Labor Day, it's tomorrow. We'll ask him. We'll ask him. What do you think? Is this really his final year? Is this really his final year? And we're going to ask him every week. Done. No, we're not going to ask him. You don't want to do like a graphic and like a meter? No, no, no, no. We don't want to give – we want the rest of this to be organic. Okay. We have pegged a terrific start for the Steelers. Yep. Coming out of the bye, Sunday Night Football, Mike Tomlin sit down with Aaron Rodgers.

36:32That is definitely happening.

36:33Rich Eisen:Are you really done after this year? Because you look great. Everything looks great. Second half of the season. You're feeling good coming out of the bye. Here we go. Sunday Night Football. Is this really it? Is this really it? We nailed it. Look at us. Last one? Last one. Ah. Last one. What do you got? The Super Bowl is down the street from us. It sure is. At so far. That's correct. Can't confirm that. Can't confirm. The team that plays there is in the Western Division. Can't believe you haven't asked me about the Rams yet in this season preview. And you're about to zag on the Chargers. Everyone wants us to talk.

37:10Why? I thought there'd be at least one. No. Rams are going undefeated. Yeah, that's too easy. Why? People are rammed out, I think. Are they really? Heading into the year. We've talked a lot about the Rams. Guess what? Guess what? I know. Get ready. I just want a clean palate before we get into the year, because we're going to talk about them. But I am going to say this, Rich Eisen. About the Chargers? The Super Bowl champion will not come from the AFC or NFC West.

37:41I give you the six other divisions.

37:44Rich Eisen:Well, then I got to take them. have you given me six other divisions you're taking eight teams out and i am now saying to you no i will not take three quarters of the national football league i won't do it but i've already look at the teams i know i know denver chargers rams defending champs then you have the third place teams being the niners and the chiefs from last year. One of them is not winning it. And all due respect to Arizona and the Raiders, we're just placing aside. So you're basically telling me six teams or I choose the rest of the league. Yeah. But if you look at the odds board, those six are all at the top.

38:31Rich Eisen:Are they really? I thought the Broncos are buried in their own conference, you keep telling me. I know, but the Ravens and Bills are up there, too. And I'm just saying, the defending champs, It's the team that everyone thinks is going to go undefeated. Patrick Mahomes, the Broncos. I will just say this is not an overreaction. Okay. Wow. Yeah, of course. Just in the mere fact that even though the Rams have the defending MVP and the defending defensive player of the year. They do. On their team. Doesn't seem fair. And it's for the first time ever in the history of the NFL, two separate people. Usually the reigning defensive player of the year and the MVP have been one in the same like a la Lawrence Taylor right right uh they also have a guy who's a three-time defensive player of the year returning after a two-year hiatus fresh legs fresh legs all right they have a first ballot arguably hall of fame receiver in Devante Adams they have two really good running backs really really good running backs they've got arguably an offensive player of the year catch machine.

39:42Rich Eisen:They have two guys, I said two corners, that they didn't have on last year's team, including a 25-year-old perennial pro bowler who's just entering his prime in Trent McDuffie. They have all of that. And the biscuit, known as Sean McVay, dialing it up. Okay? So I do believe the Rams are making the Super Bowl. Okay. I do believe that. Okay. That said, any given Sunday, or in the case of the Rams, as we talked about on our Friday show, they start the season on a Thursday night, but it's really Friday where they're playing. Yep. They also play on a Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, and they play on a Sunday night and a Monday night and a Thursday night.

40:36Rich Eisen:Maybe Saturday. And then it could be a Saturday game at Tampa or home for Seattle too. They play on any day of the week pretty much. They're going to wind up playing on every day of the week this year except Tuesday. Any given one of those days, it's a problem. You show up and it's just not one of your days. Just like the Rams in Carolina last year. Almost was that way in the playoffs when they went back to Carolina. So sure. Sure. 100 % it can be Apple cart can be upset by even Seattle, but they're in the West as well. They're in the West defending champs. So I will just say that obviously Buffalo, New England, the Ravens, the Bengals, you get to put the Steelers in there, the Jaguars, the Texans.

41:26Rich Eisen:You're giving me the Eagles and the Cowboys. You're giving me the Lions. Oh my, I gotcha. So I'll say this is not an overreaction. Sure. Even though I think you're wrong, which is what it's all about. And the National Football League season, the proverbial, you can't make this up. Tuesday's Rich Eisen show. Troy Aikman will help us kick off the season coverage along with B. John Robinson, along with Cam Hayward. Oh, can't wait. We're going to have Marcus Spears is joining us every Monday during the season. Every Tuesday during the season, Cam Hayward. Josh paid also for college football. And Warner Wednesday is just like the last couple of years, Kurt Warner.

42:06Rich Eisen:We made it. We're back. We are back. And that's just the week one for Chris. I'm rich. We are not going to do this show again. The rest of this year without calling each other saying you're wearing that make sure we're going to coordinate. Just can't do it for Chris. I'm rich. That's it for overreaction Monday. Everybody. The season has begun.

42:48Rich Eisen:This episode is brought to you by State Farm. No two football players are exactly alike, and the same is true off the field. That's why State Farm gets to know you, so they can help personalize coverage for your life and budget. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
