In short
This episode of The Rich Eisen Show (guest host O’Shea Jackson Jr.) features Ice Cube, plus segments with Marshawn Lynch and other sports/entertainment guests. Topic: Ice Cube discusses the Big3 basketball league playoffs (in Dallas leading to Orlando), his Threes and Ones podcast, his Truth to Power Tour celebrating 40 years in music, and personal stories from acting/music.
Key claims

Notable examples
Big3 playoff matchups (L.A. Riot vs Chicago Triplets; Miami 305 vs Dallas Power) and a celebrity game. He recounts meeting Prince: Prince summoned him to an after-show pasta/pizza at 4 a.m.
Guests

Every assist, every stop, every logo three. From beyond the logo. Every did you see that moment? You bet! What records are going to be broken this season? All of it right here. Lock in. It's the WNBA on ESPN. All season long. This is the Rich Eisen Show. That's like an alarm clock. Woo-woo! With guest host O'Shea Jackson Jr. Oh my gosh, I'm a 5 '11 quarterback and I just got drafted in the first round. The Johnny Manziel that I watched on TV, I would think he'd be like, yeah, of course I'm going to the Cleveland and I'm going to be that guy.
49Earlier on the show, WWE superstar Jacob Fatu, MMA and boxing journalist Ariel Helwani, Lani, Super Bowl champion running back, Marshawn Lynch. Coming up. Actor and recording artist, Ice Cube. And now, sitting in for Rich, O'Shea Jackson Jr. What's up, y 'all? O'Shea Jackson Jr. filming televisions. O'Shea Jackson Jr. sitting in for Rich. And, man, Marshawn has blessed us today. Yes, indeed. Yes, sir. He's still in the building. And I still got, you know, I still got my fourth guest, you know, big fan. Been a big fan of Ice Cube for a very long time. Can't wait to talk to him. Man, I don't even sound right.
36He's talking about Ice Cube. He made me, I did sideline reporting for the Big Three. Yeah. And, yeah, I interviewed him. And I was like, yeah, so, you know, we're sitting here with Ice Cube, you know, creator of the Big Three. So, Cube Dad, and I just called him Cube Dad the whole time. Trying to be professional, but you're still my dad. It's going to be weird during our interview when I tell him I love him. Oh, man. Is your dad big on saying the L word? Yeah. Okay, good. Every time we hang up, every time we leave somewhere, every time, because you just never know. You never know. You know, anything can happen.
16He's had a few people close to him who have lost their sons and things like that. So it's always, hey, hey, hey, hey, I love you. All right. I love you too. Like, it's just Howie. That's great. It's the Jackson house, man. Yeah, that's how I get down with moms, though. Yeah, you got it. I get on the phone with moms, like, just call her, like, hear her voice. She, do what you want. And I'll be like, I love you, mama. She'll be like, yeah, love you too. And I'll tell her, got you. And I'll hang the phone up hella fast on it up. She comes up, boy, what the hell is wrong with you? Everything is wrong with me.
52and then she hang up on me. Yeah, man. You got to tell me, sometime, you know, just sometime. Now, something I wanted to ask you, two questions, really. So we know you like trucking more than you like juking. Now, when you on a long run, what's worse to an NFL player? Finding out you stepped out of bounds or getting tackled at the five?
19Because I've seen you all, Like taste pay dirt and then somebody gets you. Probably getting tackled. Yeah. I mean, you can understand the stepping out of bounds situation, but getting snatched, that's something you ain't going to be able to lay that one down. You go in that locker room or maybe when you get back to the sideline, if you don't come out, bro, you slow as hell. Hey, you slow. Don't ever come over here talking about you faster. Yeah, that's a thing you do not want to hear, especially if you got some guys that you done, hey, man, you slow, bro. I'll run it up on you. You get snatched, you damn near come to the sideline.
09Heads are shaking for sure when they looking at you like, nah, you know what, man? I think I'm going to just go back in right quick. Because you always see players get up, smack the ball, or like they just like you see them grimace. So that's getting caught at the five. Getting snatched is, oh, my God. That's like the Buda Baker getting run down by D.K. Metcalf. That was crazy. That was crazy. D.K. catching him. Yeah, dude fast. For real. Dude fast. He run like a damn cheetah or whatever, a gazette, however you say it. Yeah, he caught him. Yeah, he did. Caught him. Caught him. Now, you know, you and your peaceful time, you know, off the field now.
57I always imagine, like, retired NBA players, like I just feel like their dreams got to be filled with, like, sneakers squeaking. Do you have, like, do you have, like, them football PTSD dreams? Like, do you ever, like, you just, like, do you have that feeling still? at all? I just feel like a football player dream sound like like I just feel like that's the normal collisions. Nah man I think I was able to, cause you gotta remember I retired came back and then came back one more time so I mean you know I mean you know I played with passion and I played you know for a reason and you know both times I came back one was because the raiders was finna get ready to leave oakland and i wanted to play in the coliseum before you know god know what they deal with that thing and then when i came back for the seahawks they had just had uh penny and uh carson had just went down and they like we need a running back so i mean you know both times was like all right let me go see if i could i mean strap it up and get down so i think I got all that out but I mean you know I think I played enough football to I mean to to you know be able to let it go I mean I'll still get out there I mean I don't think I just got no man I think I could still get out yeah yeah I fulfilled all that that's a different that's a different beast yeah for sure that's a different be sure I would well as soon as I put civilian clothes on I I don't think I can play no more football.
39That's a wrap. Like, I'm done, bro. I'm hitting this Epsom salt bath and I'm out of here. Epsom salt bath, huh? Yeah, I'm out, bro. Magnesium, I'm going to sleep. Now, I need to know, because you were part of what I think is the best football commercial ever, man. That NFL 100, that fumble. Yeah. What is that like having all y 'all in that room? I feel like because I hung out with like UFC fighters and all they do is like kick your leg all day like Big old dudes. It's like come on like they try to size you up all day So I could just imagine having all them players together. It's gotta be fun. It had to be a good day I mean, you know what the thing is when you when you film something that big like they do that in in part sequences You feel me?
34So it ain't like I was there with all of them. I mean, I for sure probably would have went crazy because, I mean, that was a roster, a lineup of players, you know what I mean, past, future, and present. Like, to be a part of it was big, but to actually kick it off, like I kicked that thing off. and then you see what's going on and then you know you have you would have did something like that for sure so that was on brand for you and I'm like I just wanted a piece of cake I ain't know if that thing was yeah you feel me but yeah that was that was big that was big and then I just started seeing it circulating not too long ago it came back around and is doing some numbers again.
33Yeah, now you've also, you know, you obviously know for running, you threw a tub. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, that spiral is tight. Hey, man. When you do an out-of-position thing like that, that's got to be star-in-the-helmet type situation. No, for real, especially because, I mean, you know, LT was a dog. and I think LT had a touchdown receiving rushing and he threw one and I believe at the time I made a comment like man I'm trying to get like LT all I need to do is catch one yeah I mean one of my teammates Corey Mace he may not affect my dog head coach up in in Canada CFL but he came in like hey man you done ran one you done uh you know right i'm trying to catch one too i'm trying to get him throw me a ball but it didn't happen but that was some some big and i mean you know i i like to throw the ball too i like to spend that much yeah yeah absolutely now bro you got a pod man you got a pod you know i'm giving you a chance right now promote your pod you know what's the name where can the people find it you know uh get got uh the get got pod with uh with Mike Rob um you can get it on uh what is that playmaker all with the guy Spotify YouTube all the you know what I mean all the what is the get got outlets yeah the get got pod I mean I got a lot of things going on but it's more so like you just gonna see them yeah you gonna see them If you need me to retweet anything, you hit me, anything you need me to post, that's nothing.
25You looked out today, man. No, it's all good, man. And I'll tell you, I appreciate you coming on the pod. Yeah. So, man, thank you. Look forward to that coming out. I don't know the exact date, but I know it's coming soon. So, appreciate you. Bro, appreciate you, man. Now, thank you all for having me, too. Hey, y 'all, too. Hey, y 'all, too. Hey, y 'all, too. Hey, Sean, man. Peace, man. Sure. Two-go champion. Champion in my book forever. Yes, sir. You the man, bro. Appreciate it. We got a game to play. play a game. We're going to do what's more likely. Marshawn, after we play the music, I'll explain it to you.
54Roll it.
58What's more likely? Never say never, but never. Alright, here's the deal, guys. I give a couple of scenarios, and you pick which one is more likely. It's very, very simple. A lot of them are football-related on the matchups this week, and I got a couple for O'Shea. Here we go. More likely quarterback stock you're buying for the next five years. Cam Ward or Michael Penix Jr.? Ooh, I really do like Penix. You know, Ward, I've never been a Titan. I just don't believe in them. Atlanta, I feel like, always gets in its own way, yeah, but it's easier to get weapons to come to Atlanta than it is to go to Tennessee.
42No disrespect to Tennessee, but I gotta go Penix. Garshan, any thoughts? You want me to answer, too? Yeah, why not? Yeah, man. Cam Ward or Michael Penix? Who do you like in the next five years? Man, Cam still owe me a jersey.
01I'm going to go Cam. I'm going to go Cam. Titans-Falcons tonight. Look forward to seeing those guys in action. Okay, how about this one, Marshawn? It's perfect that you're here for this. Seahawks-Chiefs tonight. Is it more likely the Seahawks win the NFC West for the first time since 2020? or the Chiefs don't win the AFC West for the first time since 2015. Oh, jeez. Is it more likely the Seahawks win their division? I would say the Seahawks win. Or the Chiefs don't win their division? The Seahawks win. Yeah, see, I'm going to say it's more likely. Come on, man. I'm in the NFC West. I can't do that.
46Are you going to go against the Chiefs? Absolutely. I'm raised by a Raider. Hey, look, I'm sorry, but you can't go against the homie, man. Look, bro. The homie get active, bro. Patrick the homie. The homie get active, man. Listen, man, I am raised. I might be a Los Angeles Ram, but I am raised by the autumn wind, and the autumn wind is a Raider. So, Kansas City, you ain't doing it, bro. Not in my country. Man, that's tough. I like it. That's good. All right. How about this one then? More likely to be the higher combined total. Giants, Jets, losses, or Rams, Chargers, wins.
32You did this on purpose. Of course. Man, you're good. More higher combined. Oh, yeah. Giants and Jets. Giants and Jets. We agree there. But yeah, Giants and Jets losses for sure. For sure. They're going to be notoriously bad. Oh, sorry, Rich. My bad. I forgot. He's a Jet. He knows he's terrible. He should. There's no secret. Of course he's not here. The Jets, terrible. Michigan in trouble. And Rich Eisen on vacation. What a guy. Marshawn, you think so too? Giants, Jets, losses? Okay. How about this one? This is right up your alley. The more likely running back you want in fantasy this year, Christian McCaffrey, Ashton Gentry.
20Who do you want in fantasy the most this year? TJ, chime in as well C-Mac You think he's back? Yeah And I only say that because I mean, he a bucket Yeah Because a bucket My dog still got to go ahead and get his wheels going Yeah But I mean, you know, with this situation You know you know C-Mac gonna get that ball. You know they have to put him in his hand. Right. And he make magic when he get that thing too. See I'm gonna need you for some inside help because my thing is between I'm either gonna get C-Mac or I'm gonna get Gibbs. I got fifth pick and I know who everybody else pick. So I've been like sweating about this.
08I've talked to them about this this morning. So you know this is a great vote of confidence for my C-Mac pick right here. It came from Marshawn Lynch. Didn't like Christian McCaffrey pick. Yeah, man. You know he a butter bucket. Yeah, man. It's no – all right. Oh, man, I'm sweating. All right, yeah, man. All right, a couple more. See you, Mac. Bears-Bills this weekend, preseason week two. Is it more likely Caleb Williams becomes the first Bears quarterback to hit 4 ,000 yards or Josh Allen goes back-to-back MVP? Oh, what's more? It's more likely right more likely. Yeah. Yeah I'm going Caleb Caleb for sure fight on Caleb even though TJ knows why but I hope the Bears have a terrible year
01It's got nothing to do with the players It's got nothing to do with the organization It's literally one reason why I hope the Bears have a Terrible year And he don't even play football He's just a fan You see I'm hosting a show Didn't have to fake a leg injury to host a show Shout out to the world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins I hope boy. Oh, man. I hope they get dog. All right. A couple more here. How about this one? More likely to win a triple threat steel cage match. LeBron James Shohei Otani or Jared verse? What is this? I'm going Jared verse. Why'd you throw? show me 610 i get you but like he these are the stars of los angeles sports yeah i know but show a bro so nice yeah bro put uh if you don't put uh keke mermandez in there he gets a baseball bat how about that all right just clocking yeah man i don't know man jerry verse is a nasty dude well lebron's got like seven inches on him yeah i know but you know lebron he he's like the big show I just don't know.
17Center of gravity, man. It mattered. And that dude, Jared Burse, is quick. And also, you know, LeBron, as long as he a Laker, I need him to stay out of trouble. So he's just laying down, bro. You know, lay down, take the pin. The thing about Shohei, though, is he's sneaky big, right? You don't realize how big Ohtani is, man. And if he comes out there, he might be able to throw from the shoulders, and then what? Then you've got a problem. I mean, well, you know he's disciplined. He's disciplined. For sure. Yeah, man. I don't know. I bet on it. You know what? I'm still in it. I'm on it. I'm on it.
50I'm on it. I'm on it. Hey, Bron, I try to keep you safe, man. I'm still picking Jared Burst, though, by the way. More likely to be John Cena's final opponent, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, or anybody else. Final opponent. Oh, because I've been thinking, like, man, Rock been real quiet. You know, Rock been real quiet. One, two, three. He's probably saying it.
20Final opponent, it should be The Rock. It should be The Rock. It should be, right? It should be The Rock. I'm staying with my original. Yeah, they got funk too, right? What do you say? What do you say, TJ? They had their WrestleManias. It's tied one to one. Okay. Yeah, all right. Then it only makes sense. Yeah, you got to be right. I'm sticking with my no podcast prediction. Obafemi. Obafemi would be great. It ain't going to happen. Talk to him, TJ. Just to make people mad. All right, well done, boys. Because that's what's more likely on a Friday with Marshawn Lynch. Love it. Oh, good. Yeah, this is awesome, man.
52All right, ladies and gentlemen, we've got to say goodbye to Marshawn. That was incredible. This is still unbelievable, man. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Good having my back. Thank you. I appreciate you, man. And, yeah, we got my dad coming up next. I mean, we got Ice Cube coming up next. I don't know which ones are worse in this setting. Rich Eisen here for Gusto. What's the story behind that? You know, I can't remember how we met initially, but after our first encounter, he made sure that I was at every house party that he had in Los Angeles.
27I'll never forget, we were at Madison Square Garden. Security came to my seat at the end of the show, or towards the end of the show, and said, Prince wants you to come on stage. I was like, okay. He wants you to come on stage now. All right, so I'll go on stage. It's me, Whoopi Goldberg, Cornel West, Tavis Smiley, a bunch of other people on stage. And we went to this after-hour spot after the concert, a place called Village Underground in the village. Sure, oh, it's famous. Yeah, and so, you know, because Prince likes to jam afterwards. Well, Prince just went to go listen to the musicians. And so it's Prince, his assistant, myself.
01And I see Prince lean over to his assistant. And then all of a sudden, the assistant leans over to me and says, I don't know why I do this voice, but it's like, Prince wants you to come back and have pasta and pizza. I was like, oh, okay. And then Prince got up and left, and she got up and left. I don't know why her voice is so deep, because it was a woman. She got up and left. Because you were summoned. You were summoned by royalty. And there was, you know, an array of people in the living room, and I went back to find Prince, and he was back there holding court with Tavis Smiley and Cornel West, and he looked up and smiled and gave me the peace sign, and I went back in, and we had pasta and pizza at 4 o 'clock in the morning.
44Wow. How did Prince like his pizza? This is very important. The toppings is a window into one's soul. First off, there was no meat on the pizza, and I didn't see Prince eat any pizza. We would go to his house, man, for the house parties, and it'd be Stevie Wonder playing the piano. Malcolm Jamal Warner on bass, you know, Rochelle Farrell singing lead. It was just amazing, man. And then you were like five o 'clock in the morning. His chef is serving you breakfast. You're like, why am I at Prince's house at five o 'clock in the morning, man?
24Welcome back to the Rich Eisen Show. I am still your host, filming television, I'll say Jackson Jr. I've been sitting at this lovely desk all day. By the way, can we just pause for a second? Marshawn Lynch hung out for an hour. Yeah. That was so cool. That was awesome. That was the best. That was great. And by the way, Marshawn Lynch, when I dapped him up, I was like, okay, dude could still give you about 15 carries. He's a giant. Minimum. Absolutely. But, you know, speaking of hanging out, I think it's time to bring, you know, somebody, I've been a big fan of him for a very long time. You're like the only one.
58Yeah, you're a very long time. I've been a fan of him for about 34 years. Indeed. And, you know, he's got the basketball league, the big three. He's also got a tour coming up. He does. The man is on the move. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Ice Cube. Yeah. That's right. That's right. What's happening? O'Shea Jackson, Jr. Yes, yes. Good to see you. Good to meet. Big fan of yours, man. Big fan. Love your dad, man. He's great. Yes, man. Thank you, man. You know, I try to keep him nice. He's the best coach I could ask for. Now, Q, with the Big Three,
39it's the best time of year. The Big Three playoffs are here. As I know, you're in Dallas, Texas right now, correct? Yep, in Dallas. Yes, and how does it feel being eight years in with this league of yours? Oh, man, it's amazing. Dream come true stuff. We started the league. We started the league for fans like us. We were sick of hibernating between the finals in the NBA and the NFL season. You know, I like baseball, you know, postseason baseball the best. Midseason baseball, you know, it's a long season. So I used to hibernate. And I was like, man, I'm tired of this. I like we need something. and so the big three on three was something a love of mine I always wondered why I wasn't professionalized and I looked around nobody was going to do it I looked at my partner Jeff Quantinance and I said why can't we do it and here we are eight years later playoffs in Dallas it's going to be great now you know do we have the matchup set already for these playoffs that will lead to the championship in Orlando the following week?
02Of course we do. You know, we have the L.A. Riot led by Dwight Howard and Jordan Crawford. And they're taking on the Chicago Triplets led by Montrez Harold. And yo, they are both epic teams, best teams in the league. and they're going to go at it and see who's going to make it to the championship. Then after that, you have the Miami 305, led by two-time MVP Michael Beasley, and Lance, make them dance, Stevenson, against Dallas Power. Dallas actually has a home playoff game this time. The Dallas Power with Glenn Rice and Greg Monroe, Paul Millsap. So we got some epic battles and we got a cool celebrity game that's going on.
02You got my team. I have Gillian Wallow, Des Bryant. I think I'm getting Chris Haynes against Clyde Drexler's team. He has Waka Flocka, Hezzy God, Ocho Sinto. So it's going to be a fun celebrity game before the playoffs. So got to check CBS out on Sunday for sure. Now, you know, for those who haven't been watching the Big Three, Chicago and Dallas are two teams that you cannot fall asleep on because they continue to stay in it all the time. And they never seem to really give up. You can't knock them out early. You're going to have to put them on the way down. And the teams of the L.A. Riot and the Miami 305, in the first game of the season, these two teams went at it in a real way.
56So the idea of them being in the championship has got to at least be on your mind a little bit. Well, you know, all of them are babies. I can't really root for none of them. I want them all to win, which we know can't happen. But I wouldn't be mad if any of these teams made the championship. They both, I mean, all four of them are great squads with star power. And we'll see how they do. You know, they got to get over the hump. They get over the hump, we'll see them in Orlando. You know, it's going to be great because we have our all-star game before our championship game. So no matter what happens, you know, Dwight Howard will finish the season in Orlando.
42Yeah. Either on the championship game or as an all-star, which is kind of poetic. You know, this is the year he makes it into the Hall of Fame. And for us to be ending the season in Orlando, it's pretty special. Now, where can people get tickets? I know where can we, they purchase ahead of time so they make sure that they're there this weekend and next. If you're in Dallas or somewhere near the Dallas area, You can get tickets at big3.com slash tickets. But we really need you to check us out on CBS. Three o 'clock Eastern. Great games. We have great ratings on CBS. You know, our ratings are better than MLS, NHL, a few other leagues out there.
31So we're a league on the rise, and we want to continue that. So thank you for everybody that's been supporting the Big 3. Now, besides the on-court stuff, got a pretty good podcast over there, too. The threes and ones. How did that come together? Have you had fun making that or being on the sideline producing it? How's that been? Oh, man, when you got a star like Mike Beasley, you know, he's must-see TV. Everybody's interested in his game and not only his game but just him personally. So we're just happy that he was down to do the Threes and Ones podcast. We got Chris Haynes, who's a big-time NBA analyst, kind of keeping us on the rails.
22But it's a fun show. I pop in from time to time. But it's a really show that's for Mike Beasley and Chris Haynes to not only highlight the league, People talk about, you know, any current event, you know, pop culture. So it's fun. People are watching. People like it. And they're candid. They're not holding back. You know, we got a few calls from what they done said on that podcast. So, you know, they definitely letting it all hang out over there. So it's fun. Now you got a tour coming up. Got a tour coming up. Very exciting. You know, talk to us a little bit about that, what you got lined up for your fans to see.

10It's the Truth to Power Tour. Four decades of attitude. I looked up and it's been 40 years since I started in music. And it's time to celebrate that with a huge production. Like, I go on tour all the time. But this time I'm taking a production bigger than I've ever had in my whole career. So I'm excited about that and excited to really show people what inspired the music over these 40 years. You know, why did I write the songs that I wrote? Why did I make the moves that I made? My whole journey. And a lot of people have become fans of me at different points in my career. So here I want to take them all the way back to the beginning and bring them all the way into 2025.
06And where can people get tickets for this? Go to IceCube.com for tickets. You can also get them from Ticketmaster. Anywhere you buy your concert tickets, we there. Now, to speak a little bit about the four decades. Yesterday marked the 10-year anniversary of Straight Outta Compton. Your son, great in it. You know, quite one of my favorite films. Can you tell us how proud of him you are?
46Oh, man. I'm extremely proud. He's such a great actor. He's made such a, you know, not only am I proud that that you did the movie and you, you know, really became a great actor in the process, not just shooting a movie. You were a great actor by the time we shot the movie. What I'm really impressed with you is your work ethic leading into the movie. You know, a lot of people don't know that, you know, you work for two years to just even get the role. You know, nothing was promised. I couldn't guarantee you the spot. You had to earn it. I'm proud that you went through the steps. Everybody's about nepotism.
39No nepotism here. He actually, you know, went up against five other ice cubes to get the role. So I'm glad you was able to prevail and then do a great job and create a great career for yourself, which I'm really proud of, is that it wasn't a one-shot thing. You are, you know, high in demand out here in Hollywood, and I'm extremely proud of you. I'm gonna cry in the car TJ I'm gonna cry What a moment That's awesome I gotta let you know about what's going on Hey you funny you make me laugh all the time If people can see us You know coming up with stuff to make each other laugh I think that's a movie in itself I gotta let you know What I've been surrounded with all day TJ We got to get a shout out to TJ.
37You know him from the wrestling show, Mike. Yeah, yeah. No conscious wrestling. So can I share with him the story real quick? A couple weeks ago, we were getting ready for the podcast, and we were talking about when Carl Anthony Towns kept trolling me, sending me flowers and balloons when the Eagles would win and the Cowboys would do bad. He was like, yeah, me and my pops was talking about this. And then he went on, and I went, whoa, hold up a second. I'm like, your pops knows who I am? And he was like, yeah. And I was like, oh, my God. Because I tried to tell him I had a relationship with you before he had a relationship with you, man.
10So it's just a pleasure to, you know, by proxy getting to know him. Because he and I, we've been working on our friendship and it's been building. And I'm telling you, this is a wild boy right here, man. That's my dude, though, man. That is my guy. And, you know, we've been getting closer and, like I said, building this rapport on this wrestling thing. But, yeah, you got a good one there, man. And he was raised with you. I appreciate it. I mean, he speaks highly of you. I think he loves the fact that you've been in the game a long time. When he tells me that you've been a wrestling fan since 82, I'm like, that's my era.
47You know what I mean? He's talking about my era. So it's great that you guys are able to grow this podcast. I think you guys can own the space. Nobody's coming close to what you guys are doing when it comes to the wrestling space. So keep doing it. Keep hustling. Keep working. And, you know, stay the best. Appreciate that. Appreciate that. Absolutely, man. And then Chris. Chris Brockman, he is Celtic and Patriots fan. I just wanted to tell on you. That don't make him a bad guy. Okay. That don't make him a bad guy. In this case, it does. In this case, it does. He from Maine, though. I just found that out a couple weeks ago.
25He's from Maine. You tripped me out, man. I had to tell my dad on you. And then my man Del Tufo over here, you converted him to be a Dodger fan from your performance. I watched you rehearse at the World Series as a Yankee fan. And when you came out at that game, I was like, I'm done. I go, I don't care if they bring Frank Sinatra back and put him in Yankee. It would never, ever top that. That was one of the greatest moments. Yeah, can we get into this a little bit more? Let's get into this. Who approached you? When was this become an idea? And did you know the game was over as you were performing?
13Well, we got approached by the Dodgers. You know, we got a real cool relationship with them. They said that they were, you know, thinking about having a performance. And they was working with my man, Jesse Collins, big time TV producer. And I was supposed to perform game one. And I was hyped. You know, I was like, man, I was just going to watch the game. I was happy that the Dodgers and the Yankees was finally getting back at it. You know, this is like a heavyweight fight. This is Ali Frazier to me. And so I was just happy to watch the game and be a fan. But then when they asked me to be a part of it, you know, I just, you know, I was like, wow, this is not even a bucket list moment.
01This is not something you even dream about. This is just a gift, you know, from the basketball guys without a doubt. So then Fernando Valenzuela passes away. So they're like, well, we want you to come in game two. So I'm like, game two. If they lose game one, game two might be a little sketchy. But Freddie Freeman hits this amazing walk-off grand slam. And so it was just ripe. The time was ripe. Nobody was expecting it. Baseball doesn't do this kind of thing. Right, exactly. That's why it was so kind of shocking. It was just perfect for me. When that fence opened and I saw 60 ,000 Dodger fans going crazy and rocking to the music, I knew this was a moment that I had to cherish.
04And I couldn't pinch myself because I was going through it. Did not know the game was over after that. High-fiving the team. I saw that they was hyped. I looked. I saw, you know, the manager going crazy. Dave Roberts, you know, going crazy. Yo, these dudes, they am. They ready. And the rest is history. You know, I feel for my man Fat Joe. Like you said, they could have brought Frank Sinatra back. And you down 0-2 in a season, you don't want to hear nobody perform. You're like, man, get the game going. Yeah, let's get back in this series. So it was a tough it was a tough act to follow. But but I had I had a ball, man.
51It's still, you know, one of the best things that ever happened to me in my career. Yeah, Joe. I mean, and then what really is terrible is the, you know, the deciding game. Yankees up five zero and then they show Joe on the jumbotron. And then the Dodgers go on a five run run. And it's just like now there's a Joe curse because he was at the Knicks game. He was at the Serrano fight and those was all losses. What a terrible time. Entertainers cannot predict the outcome of a game. You know what I mean? There's no way. But it do feel, and I performed before and the team lost and you feel like, damn, is that my fault?
36The superstitiousness of sports. Everybody down here likes to thank you for the donation of bobbleheads. Yes. The Dodgers was very cool for doing the bobblehead. Fun fact, the White Sox are doing the bobblehead of Me Too this year. Oh. Yeah, the White Sox, because I'm the one that made the famous black White Sox hat famous And they changed their colors from red, white, and blue to black and silver and white. So, you know, they honored me by being the one who really brought that socks cap into everybody's living room. So it's pretty cool. Now, you said the magic words, so I'm going to let you talk about the Raiders.
30Are you excited about this season? I know you always going to support no matter what. But, you know, you got the running back rookie, Ashton Gentile. Everybody's very excited about. How about yourself? Very excited as the president of the Raider Nation. Here he go. I approve this message without a doubt. And, you know, the Raiders, they got a coach now. You know, Pete Carroll is a guy that's won a Super Bowl, been to a few, well-respected. and he got his quarterback. So it should be a lot better than last year. And we'll see. You know, it's all about when they strap it up. They got to win game one, game two.
15I think it's, you know, it's how you start off. If we start off with L's, that old feeling going to come back again. So just here to get back on track. Absolutely. Big three playoffs this weekend. Make sure you guys go to big3.com slash tickets. Check us out this weekend, next week, next week in Orlando for the championship and also the All-Star game. 44:18Okay, this is all from the internet, so we'll see if these are true or false with Ice Cube. Now, hold on a minute. Here's the first one. You actually own the Chevy Impala that your character Doughboy owned in Boys in the Hood. Do you still have that car? False. I've never owned that car. Never once? No. That is false. That's false. Would you have wanted to own that Chevy Impala? Not really. Not really. No. All right. Very good. Next one. True or false, you have a two-year diploma in architectural drafting. It's a certificate, and it was one year. Just one year? One year. Yep. They crammed four years into one year.
57Yeah. Did you ever have designs, if you will, on being an architect at all? I mean, no, no. I was doing it. I was into it. Then, like, the stuff we were doing with NWA started taking off. Okay. And the last thing I wanted to do was be at that school. I was ready to leave. You were ready to take off? But I, you know, stuck it out. I graduated, got my certificate, and I think, you know, my mother hung it up somewhere, but I never looked at that thing since. Which school was it? It was called Phoenix Institute of Technology. I don't even know if it's there no more. P.I.T.? P.I.T. Yep. A fake DeVry.
38Fake DeVry? Yeah, it's like a fake DeVry. Okay. Here's another. I got two more. Next one. You got the name Ice Cube from your brother because girls were calling the house asking for you all the time and that you were too cool for your age. True or false? They were calling for him. It's true. They were calling for him, and I would pick up, you know, trying to holler at him. I was like, man, he got a big head. You don't want to be with him. You want to be with me. I'm a little bro bro. And he found out. And back in the day, they would, you know, if you had an old refrigerator, they would put it on the curb.
10and you know the junk man to come pick it up and we had one on the curb down the street that was there for days it was like you know what slam your ass in that freezer on at the end of the block when they pull you out you're gonna be ice cute you know kids dying in freezes right so so uh when i walked out the house you know i didn't want nobody to call me oshay no more i'm like my name ice cube and so it just stuck they start calling me cube and never called me o'shea since last one uh jerry curl wigs used in straight out of compton were valued at fifteen thousand dollars each man i'm supposed to know about a jerry curl wig we had the real deal you know i mean jerry did our curls back in the day you know what i'm saying so i don't know about wigs and how much they cost I'm pretty sure they're expensive.
01And I've heard about gangs going in and stealing like wigs and extensions out of like nail shops and hair shops. So I don't think they cost$15 ,000. If they did, somebody got beat. Because someone was kind of tired. They needed work. Well, I'm just wondering if you were a producer of the film, you had to okay whether the wigs were passable or not. Yeah, I did. I did. I was really pretty anal about that because some Jerry Curl wigs can look comical. And this was no comedy, you know. So we had to make sure they look right and it didn't look like, you know, the Soul Glow family from Coming to America.
46You know? Yeah. Wow. So we're mostly fake. Mostly fake? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, those dudes that have no real Jerry Cooks.
04Now, we just got off the Zoom with my dad. But, Chris, you brought up, what about the top five father-son combos in sports the other day? Yes, sir. And, yeah, I think I'm going to run through these real quick. At number five. We got one, two, three, four, five.
26Now I know this is going to be controversial, but I got good reasoning for it at number five. I'm going to put the Ken Griffey's Yes, I know that's low. I know they probably should be higher, but I hate baseball Therefore I'm showing respect by having them on there top five. Yes, exactly Okay, number four. I'm gonna go the Thompson's Michael Thompson and clay Thompson oh okay michael thompson number one overall pick him and clay got six championships between the two i mean it's oakland and la yes i know he was on the blazers yes i know he's on the mavericks but i'm talking about the good parts when they won championships he did want to chip with the players anyway next i have the roads thanks tj dusty and cody roads that's a good one i mean like my My goodness, especially with Cody right now being the man over at WWE, there is no way you cannot put them on there.
18The Mannings, whether it's Archie and Peyton or Archie and Eli, there's no way. Mannings are synonymous with football. It is what it is. And my number one, LeBron James and the Toronto Raptors. That's right, and the Toronto Raptors. LeBron has been the daddy of the Toronto Raptors for years. 46 and 16 record. Not to mention five championships between the father and son duo. But anyway, I got one more. Wait a second. Hold on. Got one more. I need one more. All right, we'll get one more. Honorable mention, because there's no way I could do this by being a wrestling fan. Ric Flair is Charlotte Flair.
02I know it's not his son. That's a good one. I mean, come on. The number of championships between them is what? 30? I can't count that high. Anyway, guys, we'll be back from break. Or actually, no. I think this is a goodbye. Great job, O'Shea. Thank y 'all. Thank y 'all. See you next week.
