1:53Rich Eisen:Coming up, actor Kim Fields. And now it's Rich Eisen. Hour number three of the Rich Eisen show is on the air. We're on ESPN2 right now. I still feel the same way. And I still look the same, which is me, for whatever reason, shaving down my beard, but apparently missing my mustache. And it looks like I got a full-on mustache. It's great. Like I'm Howard Hughes or something. Howard Hughes. Howard Hughes. I don't know what's happening. Oh, God. You went major dad before. I went major dad. And I'm a major best dad ever. There you go. Hey, now. Whatever. Kim Fields is in our green room. She's going to come on out.
2:33We're going to play Celebrity True or False about her lengthy career that is part of now.
2:40Rich Eisen:It's the Upshaws. Seasons one through seven of the Upshaws available now for streaming on Netflix. She plays Regina Upshaw. I mean, she's gone from Regine to Regina. You know what I mean? that's a little living single reference for you I'm looking up bald men with mustaches great use of your time Chris I mean what else should I do while you're doing that should I just keep talking first one up G Gordon Liddy not bad you're like I should break into a hotel not terrible G Gordon Liddy alright I'm back G Gordon Richie is that me I'm just saying. Okay. Great. Let's go to Evan in Iowa. Let's take his phone calls.
3:29Rich Eisen:It's been around for about an hour. What's up, Evan? Evan, what up, man? Hey, how's it going? How are you? Good. I just want to say how professional your gentleman is, too, that answered the phone call. That was a very pleasant conversation. He's faking it. If you ever met Adam, the last thing you're thinking is, that's a professional. Maybe my kind of professional. No, Adam's great. I'm sorry. He's worried about the Bears. He is flipping out about the Bears going to Northwest Indiana right now. Amongst all the smokestacks. Well, at least they're not coming to Iowa. I mean, but there's a large Bears contingent in Iowa, right?
4:09Rich Eisen:Yeah, but not the kind that I like. I'm a Vikings fan. All right. Okay. Well done. So like I mentioned to him, I am an aspiring scout. Okay. I am planning on going to the Combine. I am currently, like, I'll be honest, I'm unemployed. I'm trying to this. I'm using this to turn positive and not be negative with it. I'm trying to chase my dream of working in football, being a scout, evaluating players. When I'm there, what is the best? I was listening the other day. You said people hang out in Steak and Shake and Starbucks. what's the best way for me to approach people professionally and not get on their bad side because they're there to work and I'm there to hopefully spark a conversation I think just walking up to them and just doing what you just said is I'm I'm uh I'm my name's Evan um and I'm I'm a an aspiring scout and I'd love to just pick your brain for for a minute about what you think I could do to break in how did you break in that sort of thing I think most people are very friendly you can walk up to them in the convention center you can walk in the convention center you just, you know, unless you have a credential you can't get past certain points but everybody walks in you know, hotel lobbies anywhere people are everywhere at the combine like that, Evan and everyone seems to be in a good mood because we're back to football and everybody kind of loves that just go to Starbucks, you just got to have your head on a swivel that's all yeah and what are some things without sounding like uh like a like a desperate you know stop stop evan stop stop stop stop stop the whole desperate thing you're you're a guy who loves football you love it you want to meet people just go up go up to him say it with your chest man listen don't get down on yourself and i understand there may be times that uh for you right now where you feel down um but let me let me just tell you everyone you talk to every scout started somehow and certain scouts get a leg up because their families have done it or their families know a coach or their families know this coach and that coach but some people started from scratch and they've been in your position and i think that if you walk up to them um you know uh in a way of saying i'd love to pick your brain they'll be very receptive and and if somebody's an a-hole to you then just keep it in mind and don't hire them later on when they come asking you for a job.
6:41Rich Eisen:How does that sound? Exactly. Yeah. Okay. That's really good advice. And I'd like to meet you guys there too as well. And we would be welcoming you with a handshake and a chit-chat. That's for sure. No doubt. Okay, man? No doubt. Look for us. Okay, bud? Well, I have a face for radio, so don't ask me to be on your show. Okay, Evan. That sounds good. Noted. Thank you. I appreciate it. That's Evan and Iowa. Good luck, Evan. And I'll be straight out with you. I hope I'm not going to get in trouble for saying this, but a lot of the scouts I've met, not really lookers either. Oh, Rich. DJ started as a scout.
7:18Rich Eisen:You know what I mean? Exceptions. You know what I mean? He's spiffy. Some scouts are spiffy. You know what I mean? Rich. You know what I mean? I hear you. Rich. What? Just trying to shoot everyone straight here. You know, I got limitations. I'm out of moves. You got a mustache. You got a mustache. Who knew I had moves left? I think that's the last move. That's the last move. That's it. That's it. I'm out of moves. You're grasping. Just when you think you're out of moves. No, no, it's hope. Excuse me. I'm going to be positive about myself. I was just trying to be positive for Evan. I'm positive about myself.
7:53Rich Eisen:I didn't know I had another move. Until today. Until I shaved off the beard. I thought I hit the mustache. I show up on, by the way, the biggest platform we can on ESPN and the rest of our streamers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I look down, I'm like, is that just a mustache? What the hell do I do to myself? Did David Cross have a mustache in Arrested Development? Yeah. I'm Tobias Funke of sports. Okay. Just saying. Okay. Right? You know. Okay. Okay. The gift that keeps on giving. It's a Friday, so it's time for What's More Likely, presented by Pella Windows and Doors. What? What's more likely? Never say never, but never.
8:33Rich Eisen:All right, Christopher, what's more likely presented by Pella Windows and Doors? You have the floor, and that kind of rhymes. Hey, guys, what's happening? More likely to be Rich Eisen's final move. All right, thank you. Very good. We talked about it earlier with Tommy P, and it's going to be a storyline. I think until at least mid-March, until this guy makes a move, who's more likely to be the Steelers' week one quarterback, Aaron Rodgers or Malik Willis? I will go Aaron Rodgers. I kind of feel it. I kind of feel it. And certainly, you know, we have Omar Khan slated as a guest next week. I'm sure he will talk about how much they love Will Howard.
9:08Rich Eisen:And you will be there. And you can smell what he's cooking. I can't wait. Or think that this is a little bit of smoke and they'll be in the Malik Willis market. But it does appear to be a situation where they are into Aaron Rodgers coming back. and Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers together again as a Pittsburgh Steelers coach and quarterback is wild. It's the last time for them to make it back to the Super Bowl with the combination that beat the Steelers in their last Super Bowl appearance. It's the latest of you can't make this stuff up. But I don't know why, but everybody you speak to, and I'll, again, hear it at the Combine, feels that this is done or going to happen.
9:58Rich Eisen:As much as anything involving Rodgers prior to a new league year sussing it out can be considered as done. But I feel like this is a real deal thing. And if Rodgers doesn't want to play anymore, then that's the only way it doesn't happen. How does that sound? That's the way I get the sense. I kind of feel that way. Because if he wants to play again, where else would he kick a tire that would take him and he feels like it would be a match, that he doesn't feel like he's swimming upstream when talking to a coach or a coordinator or a scheme. Maybe Minnesota, honestly. Maybe. But I think it's nine's time there.
10:40Rich Eisen:Again. Chris, what else? All right. Another storyline we're going to keep watching. A.J. Brown. More likely Eastern Division that A.J. Brown is playing in in 2026 nfc or afc well
11:00Rich Eisen:not just the patriots thing you see bill i'll go nfc i think those rumors again we've got howie roseman is a slated as a guest next week um he's scheduled to appear and uh if if if he said before like they're not in the business of tapping out on players that's this successful let's see what Sean Mannion can do with him. Let's see what can happen. I wouldn't trade him. I wouldn't move him. I know what you're after. I know what you're after. You see him in a Patriot uniform. Did you see him on Gronk and Edelman's podcast? Did I ever? Okay. I've watched it a dozen times. Okay, this is what he had to say about when he was a Tennessee Titan.
11:43Rich Eisen:And if you remember, Mike Vrabel said, as long as I'm the Titans head coach, A.J. Brown's going to be with me, and then he got traded away. But this was A.J. Brown's side of being a wide receiver in Mike Vrabel's locker room? So Vrabel is the type of coach he wants to, he's going to call on you in the meetings. He's going to make sure that you're staying engaged and he's going to go over the keys to victory of the week. And you better know him to the back of your hand. I used to write in my notebook because at the time, I didn't really like Vrabel. I didn't like him. I admit that he knows that.
12:19Rich Eisen:And so I used to write I hate rape, I hate rape, I hate rape, right? But I was doing that to pretend like I was right. I was taking notes to look like I was engaged. But because he was so hard on me when I was a rookie, and I didn't really understand it. And so it was at the time I told Ray, I was like, hey, like I'm humble already. You don't got to humble me. But I really didn't understand what he was trying to, you know, push me to be. When I say he holds every single player accountable from top to bottom, I don't care who it is. Like, that's who he is, and it makes the team come together because nobody's bigger than the team.
12:56Rich Eisen:Nobody's bigger than the program, so you have to respect it. That's on the Dudes on Dudes podcast right there, confirming why my vote cast for Mike Vrabel as Coach of the Year, I think, was spot on. But I think this does give you hope, right, That he now understands is a veteran being held accountable. And let's go into the offense that's definitely going to have this offensive coordinator. It's not going to be a round robin every other year with an offensive coordinator. But what he wants and what the Eagles are going to do with him, I don't think the Eagles trade him. So what's more likely? I'll say NFC.
13:36Rich Eisen:All right. What else, Chris? All right. Bummer. Bummer. But it gives you hope. It does. It does. A.J. Brown on the Patriots. Oh. Yeah. It gets me going. I got you. I don't blame you. February. Going to the combine next week. Obviously. We are. Can confirm. It is likely. Anyone takes down the 40 record? Is it more likely the 40 record goes down again? Or you top your own 40 record this year? I'll top my own 40 record. That's the one I can control. Yeah. Do you know how much training I've done for it so far? Zero. Please don't say zero. Please don't say zero. There's no way. How dare you? Please.
14:15Rich Eisen:None. How dare you? So I won't say zero. Point one? But is it truthful? No. But I'll get there. When? When are you going to get there? I promise you I'm going to get there.
14:28Kim Fields:Okay.
14:29Rich Eisen:I've got, when I come back from the combine, a good month and a half of just solid getting ready. Every year, Chris prays for you to train. I know that. He does. I know that. Not the only one. Well, normally TJ's the one who receives Susie's texts on his show. But that's the one I can control. Okay. I'll say it's more likely I break my, what, the 5.96 or last year's time? No, no, no. I want you sub-6, baby. Oh. Sure. I'll never say never. Okay, great. Thank you. And I won't do the Tomlin drop. I won't do it, but you can, Mike, if you want. No. I'll say never. Never say never, but never. See, that last but never, I won't say.
15:13Rich Eisen:What else, Chris? Rich, there's a big basketball game tomorrow. Have you heard about this? Oh, baby. Duke Michigan? Is it more likely that Duke Michigan is a title game preview or one of them doesn't even make the Final Four? I'll say one of them doesn't make the Final Four. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. I think there's better teams than Duke out there. Ha!
15:40Rich Eisen:I teed it up. Yep. There you go. I thought you said, what's more likely, that Michigan gets another double-digit victory? Or, you know, Duke wins? I thought that would be the... What are you going to say? You know what I would say. Yeah, that's what I mean. Oh, I see what you're saying. Where's the fun in that? Oh, okay. No, I think it's more likely that one of them doesn't make the Final Four. I'm trying to give you a tough either or here. Okay. This one wasn't tough. Little NBA here. Is it more likely to win the Eastern Conference? Yes. Either one or two seed, Piston Celtics or the field? I'll take the field.
16:19Rich Eisen:Not a Knicks. No, I would take Piston Celtics right now. I really would. Again, the Knicks, you know, I mean, Siwe was talking about that at the end of the day, will they miss Tom Thibodeau's defense and defensive mindset in the playoffs? Yeah, maybe. Or Mike Brown's way of playing up style without the same sort of Thibodeau focus or intensity on defense? Will it cost them? And at the end of the day, you know, the Pistons might just have their number. And is Tatum coming back? That would be tantalizing. I think he might in the playoffs. Not like this a week from Sunday. It seems like March 1st is a little early.
16:59Rich Eisen:I think it's too early. Like, what's the point? I'm not sure. Like, what's the point? Why would Tatum come back March 1st to what? try and lessen the gap to catch Detroit? No, I think just to get his legs back. No, I know that, but, you know, it makes no sense. Yeah, they're not fighting for the one seed. No. Like, what's the point? I think they've hit their high watermark in terms of a seeding. Yeah. And as long as Jalen Brown keeps on triple doubling and the rest of the team does what they're doing, they can stay in the two seed, three seed, two seed. It's like the gold jacket, green jacket, right?
17:33Rich Eisen:Right. So, but I would take the field. So again, I understand. Cavs fans hope I am wrong. But James Harden, Game 6, Game 7 performances in the playoffs in his career, it would be an outlier for him to suddenly show up, connect with Spider Mitchell and the rest of that team, and suddenly advance because he shows up in a Game 6 or a Game 7 to his Hall of Fame potential. Does that make sense? It does. What else you got? Let's go to the West. more likely to win the West. OKC or the Spurs or their one-two right now or the field. Why do I want to go to the field here? Well, the field includes Denver and Kevin Durant.
18:17Rich Eisen:And Lakers. And the Lakers. Sure. And the Lakers. Why not the Lakers? In the West. Why not the Lakers? No one takes them seriously as a title contender. No, they don't. I don't know why. I don't know why. Luka took the Mavericks once upon a time deep. Deeper than the Lakers have been taken since the bubble. True. I'll still take Thunder Spurs, too. Clippers, too, maybe Clippers. I'll still take Thunder Spurs, too. You got one more of it? Last one. Gold medal game Sunday. Early wake up, guys. 5 a.m. West Coast time, unless they change it. Team USA gets underway in about an hour. Is it more likely the gold medal game goes to overtime or is decided by multiple goals?
18:58Rich Eisen:Oh, I'm going to go overtime. Why wouldn't it? Yeah. Why wouldn't it? Right? The U.S. advances to the semifinal in overtime. The women win the gold in overtime. Are you picking up what I'm putting down right now? I'm feeling you. Well, yeah, I'll go. That is going to be a stressful morning on Sunday. Well, I mean. If it goes to overtime. Have the men made it yet? Not yet. They play in an hour. What's more likely? They make it? They don't? Well, I think. You won it. I mean, if you watch Canada, they had a little controversy on their third goal. What, did they use a finger to push the puck in the middle?
19:31Kim Fields:Yeah. Possible icing situation. Ended up standing. Possible offside, excuse me. Ended up standing.
19:40Rich Eisen:I think, you know, a little juice to get USA Canada. Is that what it is? That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Maybe goalie interference. I'm just saying. You didn't get my, did you get my reference using the finger? I did, but that doesn't really. It was the puck rule. Plain. Oh, Mike. I'm here all week. No, I really wasn't. You're not here all week. I wasn't. That's what's more likely, and it's brought to you by Pella Windows and Doors. 23:04Kim Fields:Well, and rightly so, but at the end of the day, I can appreciate the nod to the respect, if you will. See? But no, no, no, no, no, no. No, don't take that and run.
23:15Rich Eisen:So my first SportsCenter, by the way, Kim Fields is here. Our radio audience just returned. The Upshaw is available for streaming on Netflix. A funny program with some really funny people, including you and Wanda Sykes, Mike Epps, just to name three. All seven seasons, the final season of The Upshaws is now playing on Netflix for you to stream. I know you were at the 1996 World Series because I was sitting at my SportsCenter set. and I'm like I'm on ESPN I couldn't go yeah I didn't have enough stripes yet to say I'm going to the World Series and I think you were you were promoting a show for Fox at the time and they popped you on screen and I'm like I'm not there Kim Fields is there how did that happen what alternate universe am I in I feel like for I'm so thrilled to know you're a Harlem yes individual who grew up on the Yanks, right?
24:09Kim Fields:That's right, absolutely.
24:10Rich Eisen:So you're like Reggie Jackson, you're like Thurman Munson, Reggie Jackson, Chris Chambliss, the whole bit.
24:15Kim Fields:Just the whole nine, absolutely, yeah. So I was there because I was doing Living Single at the time, and so we were promoting the show on Fox, and I was like, that's one of the greatest things. That and when Green Bay won the Super Bowl in New Orleans, I happened to be at that Super Bowl in New Orleans. because again Fox
24:38Rich Eisen:and that was for a living single as well damn living single took you to a Super Bowl and a World Series
24:44Kim Fields:I ain't mad at living single honey pie
24:49Rich Eisen:awesome well I'm a Michigan Wolverine and that's where Desmond Howard was the MVP of that Super Bowl so Desmond Howard
24:58Kim Fields:I want to say did a little cameo on living single if I'm not mistaken
25:04Rich Eisen:didn't Prime, didn't Dion do one too Yes, yes, he did.
25:07Kim Fields:And they wanted him to wear one of his uniforms, and he was like, now I'm going to wear my suits, you know. And so it just was like one of those where you go, it doesn't look quite right, but you're Dion, so we're going to go with it.
25:20Rich Eisen:Yeah, I mean, Dion is still Dion Sanders. Oh, my gosh, absolutely. He's the most famous person I've ever walked through an airport with.
25:29Kim Fields:Well, you've not strolled with me. I have not, Kim. We have not traveled together yet. Yet. Yet, for sure.
25:36Rich Eisen:who's the best acting sports figure because there were tons of cameos
25:42Kim Fields:you know I loved when John Sally was getting in the ring I took it back family I took it back for sure
25:50Rich Eisen:he was in Bad Boys where he stood over Martin Lawrence one of the best scenes of the movie
25:55Kim Fields:one of the greatest
25:58Rich Eisen:he's also a fellow New Yorker too John Sally yes he is
26:02Kim Fields:I used to love the Pistons back in the day I used to love the Pistons so much that when they were in the playoffs one year with the Lakers, I went to a game and Zeke and I used to be pals. And I had on Isaiah's jersey and people actually threw food at me. They didn't give a good goddurn that I was Kim Fields. They were like, oh, Kim Fields, that's how you roll? Pow with a hot dog.
26:28Rich Eisen:Just for rolling with Zeke.
26:30Kim Fields:Just for rolling. Yes, absolutely. Yeah, the bad boys did not have some fans elsewhere. Oh, not at all. But they were just so, they were just so, you know, the bad boys just, it was a great time.
26:43Rich Eisen:Lambier may have predated your acting career.
26:46Kim Fields:I don't know.
26:46Rich Eisen:By the way, he was a sleaze stack in Land of the Lost.
26:50Kim Fields:Oh, you mean literally?
26:52Rich Eisen:I'm not kidding.
26:53Kim Fields:No, I did not.
26:54Rich Eisen:You remember Land of the Lost? Sure. Which definitely predates your time.
26:57Kim Fields:It almost predates my life. That's right.
27:01Rich Eisen:And I just, he was one of those tall guys in that costume. He was.
27:05Kim Fields:Oh, my gosh. I did not know that.
27:07Rich Eisen:See, you come to this show, you learn things.
27:08Kim Fields:Listen, I'm, yeah, I'm so happy to be here on top of getting a little gem like that. Yeah.
27:13Rich Eisen:Yeah. There you go. Kim Fields here on the Rich Eisen Show. I've got Celebrity True or False to play with you if you don't mind. Okay, here we go. Celebrity True or False with Kim Fields. Hit it, please. Hit it. celebrity true or false you can't handle the truth there we go that's our production value we haven't done celebrity true or false in quite some time it's been a minute this has been fun all right true or false kim fields your first television credit was when you were on sesame
27:42Kim Fields:street at the age of five that's that's just mean for you to bring that up why is that mean because you know good and well that that's not true okay because i thought it was true for years and my mother while I was doing an interview finally said baby you were never on Sesame Street you were
27:58Rich Eisen:never on Sesame Street really no so you do not know how to get to Sesame Street then no not at
28:04Kim Fields:all not at all see this is why we play this game so that is not true that is not true yeah I thought you knew that that wasn't true I thought you were messing with me I am not messing with you okay
28:16Rich Eisen:absolutely not yeah yeah I yeah it's amazing how things get out there then well because I was putting
28:22Kim Fields:Get out there. Oh, sorry. Sorry.
28:29Rich Eisen:So you thought it was true.
28:32Kim Fields:Yes. I thought I had been, I had watched it so much that I thought that I was there, counting with Grover and all of that. And come to find out.
28:43Rich Eisen:That is amazing.
28:45Kim Fields:I was doing an interview for TV Guide. Remember TV Guide? Of course. Oh, yeah. I was doing an interview for TV Guide. And my mom just finally, she's like, I'm sorry, baby. Because she had heard me say it a few times in interviews. I was just starting to get famous and doing PR and stuff. And she was like, baby, I'm sorry, but you were never on Sesame Street.
29:04Rich Eisen:Were you crushed?
29:05Kim Fields:I was stunned.
29:07Rich Eisen:Okay.
29:09Kim Fields:I was stunned, yes. And I think at that point, even though I didn't know that that's what it was called, I started to understand the power of the mind.
29:18Rich Eisen:Interesting.
29:18Kim Fields:Because I had seen myself on there.
29:21Rich Eisen:You had made it true in your own head, but it is not true.
29:24Kim Fields:But it was not true.
29:25Rich Eisen:Okay. Next up, true or false, you beat out Janet Jackson for a commercial.
29:30Kim Fields:Yes.
29:30Rich Eisen:And you would later appear alongside her in a couple episodes of Good Times. Yes. That is true. We are true here.
29:35Kim Fields:You are very true there.
29:37Rich Eisen:So you go way back with Janet Jackson.
29:39Kim Fields:Yes, absolutely.
29:40Rich Eisen:What was it like on the set of Good Times?
29:42Kim Fields:That was fun.
29:43Rich Eisen:Yeah.
29:43Kim Fields:That was fun. So my mother, again, mom, so mom had been on the show first playing her abusive mother in a very powerful, memorable two or three part episode of Good Times. But then when I came on, it was, you know, fun. And it was still like, she's Janet Jackson, you know. And even when I auditioned for the Miss Butterworth syrup commercial.
30:07Rich Eisen:Yes.
30:07Kim Fields:Which that was my first gig at age seven. this by the way is my fifth decade in the industry and so because that was 1976 so I'm very excited to congratulations on that
30:21Rich Eisen:longevity is not something to be you know taken for granted
30:26Kim Fields:you would actually know that as well as we talked about earlier that I am just so in awe of you and the road that you have carved and forged and paved and all of that, but for real, for real, and without a blueprint. And so I think that we have those things in common. But, yeah, it was great being on the set of good times with her.
30:51Rich Eisen:I bet. I bet. Look at that photograph right there.
30:54Kim Fields:So that was obviously years later, but we had certainly stayed in touch and still over all this time.
31:00Rich Eisen:Okay, yeah. Well, my only connection to Janet Jackson was being at a Super Bowl once upon a time. Stop. Nope. All right, next up, true or false? Your facts of life character, Tootie, wore roller skates constantly in the first season because you were nine playing a 12 year old and the producers wanted you to look as tall as the rest of your older castmates.
31:21Kim Fields:Yes, that is true. I was nine playing 12. Right. And they really wanted to hire me, but I was so small. I was a small nine.
31:28Rich Eisen:Right.
31:29Kim Fields:And so they said, well, can you skate? Let's maybe put you on something. So roller skating like in a rink, you know, in an oval, that's very different than navigating a set with stairs. And when we would do different strokes, which, you know, our show was the spinoff, going up and down. Remember the Drummond staircase, that massive curve? Baby, going up and down stairs in skates?
31:51Rich Eisen:They made you go up and down the stairs in skates?
31:55Kim Fields:Yeah, yeah, because that was my thing. My character was like, you know, always wearing skates. But yes, that's why, because in quote-unquote real life, I was too small.
32:05Rich Eisen:Wow. What do you think of when you see this photograph?
32:08Kim Fields:I remember being a fan of Rick Springfield. I mean, I see Mindy and Nancy. I mean, Mindy and Lisa. Hey, y 'all. But that picture with that Rick Springfield album cover, I was actually in the Rick Springfield fan club back in the day. I kid you not, I had the purple sweatshirt. Okay. I had, he had done this little recording to his fans that you could play on a record player. And that's what I remember. We were also, I think, in Lisa's condo in Westwood at the time. But, I mean, like I said, I don't even remember. Is that a dog? I don't even remember the dog. I remember.
32:45Rich Eisen:So, wait a minute. I don't know where this photograph is from. This is not from the set? This is like you guys hanging out?
32:50Kim Fields:That was us hanging out for, like, Tiger Beat or a press moment. I see. Yeah, but that's what that was. It was like a slumber party thing with the Facts of Life girls or something.
33:00Rich Eisen:But Rick Springfield is there because you're...
33:02Kim Fields:That's very real.
33:03Rich Eisen:Did you ever meet him? No. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yep. All right. But there we go.
33:09Kim Fields:There you go. I follow him on Instagram now, too.
33:12Rich Eisen:Let's get this thing. I mean, so once you're a fan...
33:17Kim Fields:Did you see him trying to hold back his son disappointment?
33:21Rich Eisen:No, I'm not disappointed. No? No. No, you're true to yourself. Once you're a fan of Rick Springfield, you can't give it up. Once a fan, I was a fan, yes. Of course.
33:30Kim Fields:Yes, once you have Rick, you can't go back, yeah.
33:32Rich Eisen:Did you, I mean. That's another way of putting it.
33:37Kim Fields:Yes, yes.
33:40Rich Eisen:All right, true or false, you studied broadcasting at Pepperdine. Yeah. Where one of your classmates was a pre, this is how we do it Montel Jordan.
33:49Kim Fields:Yes, yes, yes. So Montel and I went to Pepperdine together. when he became a Kappa I was actually part of the line that went as a Kappa sweetheart so I'm kind of Greek adjacent in that way but yeah and I had a talk show in my senior in our senior year and he was like my Paul Schaefer if you will he would sing and do the crowd warm up and stuff yeah up at Smothers Theatre
34:18Rich Eisen:who else did you have on his guests?
34:19Kim Fields:oh my gosh so it started out with my dear friend and brother Blair Underwood and then Jason Bateman, Betty White, Sugar Ray Leonard, Gladys Knight. Come on. Yeah. And Whoopi Goldberg. And Whoopi Goldberg, yeah.
34:33Rich Eisen:Well, your Rolodex must have been deep by that point in your life, for sure.
34:37Kim Fields:Much to my surprise, but yes, yeah. And everybody was like, yeah. The thing that really got me was when I asked Sugar Ray, and he said, only for you would I do an interview the day after a fight, because normally he wouldn't do, because he's got to let everything you know stop the swelling sure even when he wins he's still
34:55Rich Eisen:you know i thought he wasn't touched in his wins sometimes you know what i mean well now i bet yeah but still yeah of course so he so he did it for you after a fight yeah after a fight okay yeah
35:07Kim Fields:geez yeah and daryl m bell from a different world he was my drummer because i had a little house band and he yeah yeah because i was studying broadcast journalism and uh i wanted to be a sportscaster actually come on yeah yeah i grew up watching um the great jim hill jim hill still doing it yeah and bill weir was also in our class uh that graduated that year up at pepperdine currently on abc right abc news bill weir yeah okay wow wait i think so that's not the same bill weir okay
35:40Rich Eisen:Okay. I don't know. No, I'm at CNN. Oh, CNN. That's right. Okay. Yes. Right. Okay. No kidding. That's pretty cool.
35:47Kim Fields:Yeah. Wow. I love sports. I love, yeah.
35:51Rich Eisen:I know. And you said you were a manager for a team or a high school team? Yeah.
35:56Kim Fields:So my high school team, yeah.
35:58Rich Eisen:So even though I was doing Facts of Life while I was still in high school, by the time I was in the middle of my junior and all of my senior year,
36:05Kim Fields:I actually went to Burbank High and not used studio school on my tutor.
36:11Rich Eisen:Sure.
36:12Kim Fields:And so I got very involved in all things high school. I was in student body, and so I was the manager of our baseball team.
36:20Rich Eisen:Anybody that we would know that came out of your team? Okay.
36:22Kim Fields:Yep.
36:24Rich Eisen:So you're a teenager in high school.
36:27Kim Fields:Yeah.
36:27Rich Eisen:Taking schoolwork.
36:28Kim Fields:Uh-huh.
36:30Rich Eisen:Also performing on Facts of Life. Yes. And managing a baseball team.
36:34Kim Fields:Yes. And I went to every football game, every soccer game. But yes, what's your question? Sorry.
36:40Rich Eisen:No, there's no question. I'm just marveling. I mean, your ability to handle all of that.
36:46Kim Fields:And like I said, student body. So first semester of senior year, I was the head of, back in the day, they called it assemblies. And then the second semester, I was vice president of student body.
36:57Rich Eisen:Look at you, Kim Fields. Yeah, you were. Are we going to see any more living single or what? What do you think?
37:03Kim Fields:um it's it's all you know never say never everything is always a possibility we love how everyone still loves us uh we don't know about a reboot as much as the rumor mill has been spent yeah that's been it's been quite a bit right yeah i know you did the reboot movie right i mean you did that back in oh no no no that was um we didn't do a movie well there's a rewatch podcast right sure okay so that's very popular right now facts of life did a reboot movie eons ago.
37:32Rich Eisen:Okay.
37:32Kim Fields:Oh, there's our Living Single Girls. Yeah.
37:35Rich Eisen:What do you think of when you see this picture?
37:37Kim Fields:Oh, I think I look good as hell.
37:42Kim Fields:But other than that, I think of our friendship. I think of how groundbreaking we were. Like, literally, there had never been a show like Living Single. And currently, I think, how dare you come after us acting like y 'all are the originals? Oh, did I say that? but I just I think of um just how how incredibly epic Yvette Lee Bowser was and is for creating that you beat Friends of the Punch by a year right well then there's that yes right yes yeah
38:17Rich Eisen:yes Friends came out in 94 yeah the 93 you were 93 yeah on Fox obviously we were on Fox they were
38:25Kim Fields:on NBC yeah and and they were Warner Brothers and we were Warner Brothers Ranch the fact that it
38:31Rich Eisen:endures the point of people here in 2026 saying can we see more like where is everybody today
38:35Kim Fields:yeah right yeah and everyone still looks amazing um we've talked about it a lot the six of us are on a thread with Yvette our text thread is incredible sometimes I say that's actually the reboot because of how much fun it is but uh we there's a living single text chain in your phone yes yes that's pretty cool yes yes it is and it's and there's a facts of life one too with my facts of life sisters yeah okay and i did dancing with the stars so there's one of them i mean i keep you got a lot of text i do i do i have a lot of text a lot of text threads and things but what's the oldest check you open up for residuals what is it um because i open my residual checks
39:15Rich Eisen:on the air here every now and then you know my five cents from my two csi miamis it's probably
39:22Kim Fields:um when i was on either fresh prince or martin okay uh because i really don't get them from baby i'm back which was my very first series that's demon wilson right you just passed away
39:34Rich Eisen:yeah okay look at you come on now i i just i don't know why i remember things it just sticks in my brain but wow i remember that show too yeah oh yeah yeah see you and i go way back we even know each other it's amazing we just finally met here i can't even believe it i can't even believe two yankee fans one who was at the 96 world series and one who was not yeah but i'm over it now well yes because you're real like your real deal about it yeah like you weren't just showing
40:01Kim Fields:up to say yeah exactly like this meant something to you the old yankee stadium and then i went to i went there for my birthday it was one of the last like seasons that that they had before you know the the the new spot so yeah i have been to yankee stadium i mean my grandma was was bronx okay yeah grand concourse the whole nine bodegas i feel so much better um and tell me about the final season of the upshaws oh it was bittersweet for sure you know because um we we feel like every episode let alone every season we leave it all on the floor You just give it your all. And Mike and Wanda did such an extraordinary job of staying true to the characters and what they set out to do, make something that was funny and real and irreverent, but also a nod to the classic sitcoms that we grew up on.
40:57Rich Eisen:Yes.
40:57Kim Fields:And so it was really great. And then we've got great guest stars. There's Kim Cole. So she and I had worked together. There's a little reunion. There's a reunion for you. Yeah. Yeah. Jennifer Lewis was on. I mean, just just great, great guest stars for sure. But it was it was bittersweet. But again, you know, it's like MASH when it ended. It's like, well, you know, it's going to end. So you give it a nice button, you give it a nice bow, you know, to to give to the fans. And I think that we did that in spades.
41:26Rich Eisen:All seven seasons available for streaming on Netflix. The final season premiered back in January. This has been a delight having you here. you gotta come back because we have barely scratched the surface I think we have barely scratched the surface
41:39Kim Fields:yeah we gotta talk about how I know the phrase
41:40Rich Eisen:yak from John Madden
41:43Kim Fields:he would always say that's some good yak you have to carry when I tell you I'm true to this
41:49Rich Eisen:no I know that like I said I feel so much better that the 26 year old version of me sitting in sports center
41:54Kim Fields:was going how the hell am I not there
41:57Rich Eisen:and that you were real
41:59Kim Fields:you were there in spirit through you I've been a fan of yours since It's the first time you ever came on camera that we knew about.
42:06Rich Eisen:Thank you, Kim. I'm right back at you, too.

44:29Rich Eisen:It's going to be a lot of fun. You know, he's not going to be there. Andy Reid's not going to be there. Oh, no. Why not? Andy Reid held a press conference today on Zoom from his office there in Kansas City and said that he's got knee surgery. Just had knee surgery, so he's not going to be there. Bummer. So Andy's going to – pressure's on. Andy's going to be watching us for four straight days. He is going to be locked in. Okay. What's up, Andy? Cheeseburgers and TV. Yeah, man. That's right. Cheeseburgers and TV. Awesome. Great. And maybe knowing that he was going to watch me, I was inspired to somehow shave my way into having only a mustache.
45:02Rich Eisen:You could go full Andy Reid if you wanted. Oh, there you go. Never go full Andy Reid. That's true. I can't match it. Hawaii. At any rate, we've got a couple sound bites. Which ones do we have, Mike Hoskins? Ah, remember I was asking Tommy P. about Travis Kelsey. Here's the latest on that.
45:17Kim Fields:There is communication, though. That's the main thing, Sam. And I always go, I've said this before to you, just as long as there's communication,
45:26Rich Eisen:I'm good. That means people want to move forward. And I think that's where Travis, I'm not trying to put words in his mouth at all. And I try to give him some space here. He's been doing this a long time and he can sort all that out as he goes forward. But we're proceeding with that and there is communication going on. let's get him back. Let's get him back now while we got the opportunity, right? In all honesty, you know? Yeah. And then there's another soundbite about him with Mahomes. And what's the deal with Patrick? He's around here all the time. Spends a ton of time here. Seven hours a day.
46:10Rich Eisen:And he's in there cranking away, making progress every day. That's about half the battle
46:16Kim Fields:on these things when you have these injuries that you show up and it's not going to be a pleasant thing every day. You've got to fight through it and you've got to attack the challenge of the workout and rehab. So he's doing a great job with that.
46:30Rich Eisen:You know, another reason why Andy Reid's so great and completely with his players and supporting his players, that he would have knee surgery of his own while Mahomes is rehabbing. Are they rehabbing together? slightly different i think goals and all right we need andy reed back on his feet we need to see mahomes week one throwing to kelsey let's go jeremiah love in the backfield we don't need that yes we do we definitely don't need no we we miss the chiefs we miss the kansas city chiefs that when you say we you mean you uh you maybe the royal we or there's a lot more people than you think i'm not gonna lie it's more interesting when the chiefs are good i missed him a little rich at the end.
47:15Rich Eisen:What did Joe Manganiello call them? The nouveau riche? They've only been good recently. What do you mean recently? For seven, eight years. Okay. Whatever. Andy Reid could be your older brother. Because of this right now? I'm going to go shave. This show's over. Thanks for listening to the Rich Eisen Show podcast.
