1:00Rich Eisen:That was just a dark moment in all of our lives. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Talking about Devontae Adams in regards to Jimmy Garoppolo. Eight different uses of the F word. From the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. What's just a four letter F word? Would you call that a noun? The word is a noun. The Rich Eisen Show. It describes a person, place, or thing. Earlier on the show, co-host of Good Morning Football, Manti Teo. Coming up, Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, WWE Superstar The Miz, Director Gotham Chopra, and now it's Rich Eisen. Hour number two of The Rich Eisen Show is on the air.
1:43Rich Eisen:I feel like we just had a little tag team swap out. I thought Irv was now and The Miz was later, but that's not the case. Irv's later. Irv's later and The Miz is now. And The Miz is now. I had no idea. Love it. Well, I mean, you've got to stay on your toes. Omaha, as they say. That's right. It's a good thing I'm a lead pipe-wielding professional who can do this sort of stuff. You've been in this game for years, man. So I'm hanging in there. We're doing all that sort of stuff. Let's take a phone call here because we're checking in the Miz right now, wherever he is. 844-204-RICH has been the number to call.
2:19Rich Eisen:Let's take one of our regulars, Terzo in Iowa, all rise. What's going on in your mind today, Terzo? What's in your mind? What's up, guys? Hey, Rich. I've got to give a shout-out to my 94-year-old grandma, Margaret Ann. I got to see her this past weekend when I went back home, and she wanted me to say hi to Richie and the boys. Oh, hey, Grandma. Hey, Grandma. Hey, good to know. We love the generational shout-out. Thank you. Well, like I said, she loves to listen to your guys' show and appreciates you guys letting me come on, so she wanted me to let you guys know that. Okay, very good. What else is on your mind?
2:52Rich Eisen:Anything? I've got a couple things for you. The Rams are not winning the Super Bowl in the field of genes. Do not put that evil out there on me, Ricky Bobby. Don't you be doing that. They're not going to be lifting their legs and doing that. Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby. I wasn't expecting to come in hot with that. Okay, very good. Sorry. Just, hey, I'm just pointing out facts. Oh, I know, I know. That could occur. Rich, the next thing, I got an OGN stat for you, and I got a really bold prediction for the NFL team. Okay, so give me the bold prediction first so we can get the old GenStat production value ready.
3:28Rich Eisen:What's your bold prediction? I believe Michael Penix is going to have the best season of last year's draft. Well, that is a bold prediction. Okay. Penix is going to outperform Caleb, Jaden Daniels, Drake May, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy. Dang. Terzo. Correct. Correct. I am making that bold prediction right now. And it'll just be sort of like we know it, we see it, just no specific metric or anything on that sort of thing. I just feel that he is going to shine in Atlanta this year. They're going to have kind of a magical little run, and I think the others are going to take a little step back. I think the defense in Denver is going to carry Bonick.
4:15Rich Eisen:All right, Terzo and Iowa with an old-gen stat. Hit it. Hit it, please.
4:21Rich Eisen:Old-gen stats. Terzo? Can you guys name the one pitcher who struck out Tony Gwynn three times in a single game? It only happened once. Okay. Who's that? Bob Welch. Ladies and gentlemen. Oh. Okay. That's your old gen stat right here on the Rich Eisen Show. Who knew that? Terzo and Iowa. Well done. Round of applause for Terzo. Oh, yeah. Roll it. Roll it. Go ahead. Appreciate you guys. Take it, Terzo. Old gen stats. You got to bookend it. Tops and bottoms. Tops and bottoms. I saw Al Michaels last night. Oh. And he said, remember how your Red Sox, sorry, lost on a walk-off catcher's interference? Yeah, I was watching that.
5:08Rich Eisen:It was the first time in 53 years that that happened. He looked it up. He called the last game that had happened. No. Involving the Cincinnati Reds. He knew exactly what it was. He said, because God bless Al, Manny Mota scored on a bases loaded catcher's interference. That's incredible. That was unfortunately on Johnny Bench. And he said they Zoomed and had a laugh over it. That's now Michael's for you. Wow. 844-204-RICH is the number to dial. First ever two-night Summer Slam takes place this weekend at MetLife. And our friend The Miz is back here on The Rich Eisen Show. Good to see you, Miz. Good to be seen, Rich.
5:48Rich Eisen:Good to be seen. How are you, man? Well, last time I saw you, I was spitting up all over myself at the American Century Championship, and you weren't too far behind, to be very honest. Yeah. You know, so. You know what's sad? What is that? I started an entire YouTube channel dedicated to getting better to the American Century Championship. Yes, sir. My goal was to beat Charles Barkley. I was going to beat George Kittle. I thought maybe even Marty Fish. I mean, who knows? I was grinding, Rich. I was out there each and every day working on my swing, working on putting, working on everything you could possibly think of to get myself ready.
6:28Rich Eisen:Put it on YouTube. All the errors, all the trials, all the tribulations I was going through. I had the best of the best trainers training me. George Genghis, James Ledbetter. I had all these people working with me, guiding me, getting my swing better. And I go there and I just lose it. I lose everything. And I played horribly. I did better than I did last year. My swing is better. I felt better. I felt like every time I was playing on the course, I had a chance for par. And then I would three putt because nobody understands. You know, everyone plays with like a foursome, right? You're in front of you.
7:12Rich Eisen:You're with your buddies. You're with your friends. You know, it all changes when you deck someone in the audience that is just there standing watching. You know, I did it like three times. I hit a person. And it's not the best feeling in the world. It's in your mind. It's in the back of your head. And then when you're putting and you're standing over a gimme and you have to still put it in and you don't, something happens to your mind that just blows it out of the water and you play horribly. Am I wrong on that? No, Miz, can confirm, because I experienced a lot of what you experienced. It was my first time at the American Century Championship in 21 years, so I was really nervous for that first tee.
7:56Rich Eisen:And, you know, certainly didn't help to watch Matt Ryan and his ball flight just absolutely stab the sky, center cut every single time, right? That's another one of my problems. I need to be with people that don't, like, hit the ball a thousand yards. Which is why I was happy that I saw you. I can't be there with Bryson DeChambeau. Which is why I was so happy that I saw you in my group, especially since I was a little self-conscious, which I'm not very often self-conscious, about showing up in my own running man gear, thanks to Travis Matthew, you know, a hat and shirt, and I was a little bit self-conscious.
8:35Rich Eisen:And then I saw you. You had the hat. You had the shirt. You had the shoes. Like, there wasn't a thing that wasn't branded Ms. Golf that was on you. We looked the part, Rich. No one looked better than us. Travis Matthew did a fantastic job dressing you up. Unreal did a great job dressing me up. My boy Mosh got me these custom-made shoes. I looked the part. You looked the part. The problem was, and even our swing, our swing looked the part. The ball flight did not look the part. Matt Ryan belts the ball. Like, was a contender. And then there was me and you, and we were just standing there going, what are we even doing?
9:14Rich Eisen:We're the fun. Did Matt ever feel like you guys were bringing him down? No, he did not. He was great. He never made us feel that way ever, ever. But we had fun with him where I turned to you and I said, which one of us is going to take back the tee box from this guy? Like we have to do it. And I did that away from him. You then went to his face and said, one of us is taking the tee box back from you. And he took that pretty well. And the best part was the next hole, at that green, he goes, I guess it's not this hole. And I was like, Matty Ice, baby, let's go. I had so much fun with you guys. Matt Ryan, not only is he great at golf and he was a contender, but he was having fun as well.
10:02Rich Eisen:Sometimes people in these type of environments, in these tournaments, they kind of just, they ignore everything else. They're so dialed in and they're not having a good time. Well, they're having a good time, but they're in a different mindset, right? They're in that tournament mindset. They want to win. Matt was not only in that tournament mindset, but he also was having a blast. And we had so much fun with him. And honestly, I learned a lot from him. Yeah, he was great. He was really great, and then you and I separated ways because I just, you know, you had a better first day than me, and they paired you up with others.
10:37Rich Eisen:I got, you finished 85th. I tied, finished for 88th. There was no photograph. Not far behind, by the way. It's not that far. I know that, and, you know, I finished up feeling down on myself. There's no photograph of it, but there's a photograph of how I felt. Like, that's how I felt right there, Miz, right? That's kind of how I felt like, you know, when you're sitting on a plane and there's a Cincinnati Bengals blogger who takes a picture of me when I learned that my team traded away Travis Hunter. That's that's basically how I felt. Yeah. How are you feeling right now about your Browns now? How are you feeling?
11:11Rich Eisen:By the way, how are you feeling now? How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good. You are feeling really good, actually. You know, hearing all the stuff about training, by the way, what are we talking about here? Like, are we just making up news for training camp? Is that what we do in the NFL? Like, is that what the NFL does? Because it's training camp, right? Everyone is there. It's getting back. It's getting dialed in, trying to figure out, you know, what you have. And to be honest, I think the Browns, I know what a lot of people are saying. You got a lot of quarterbacks and you got a circus over there.
11:42Rich Eisen:But I believe in Kevin Stefanski. And I think people don't make fun of me when I say I believe in Kevin Stefanski. And the reason that is, is because he's a two-time coach of the year. And there's a reason he is that. And he's able to take quarterbacks and give them everything they need to succeed. And so I believe with Dylan as well as Shadur, I believe that we have our franchise quarterback. And who is it going to be? Whoever steps up in the preseason. Now, here's a hard part that I have. You got Flacco. You got Kenny Pickett, right? Now, you know what you got with Flacco. We know we got a pretty good quarterback.
12:26Rich Eisen:He's 41. Do we want to check and see what we have with Kenny Pickett? Like, are we going to trade Joe Flacco? Because I've been hearing rumblings. I've been hearing some things. And when you hear things like that, usually there's some sort of truth to it. People aren't just making stuff to throw it at the dartboard, you know? So maybe the problem I'm having, though, is I remember Kenny Pickett as the all-star, as the MVP of the preseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And then what happened like five games in, the dude was like benched. So, I mean, once they turn on their defenses, it feels to me, you know, Kenny might not have been ready.
13:11Rich Eisen:But I also look at last year and I look at Sammy Darnold. I look at Geno Smith. I look at guys that needed time to develop, guys that needed that, you know, maybe another team to figure it all out. You look at Baker Mayfield, which I'm still upset about. I don't blame you. Because as you, I mean, you were there at the American Century Championship. He was awesome. How much do you love Baker Mayfield? Immensely. Immensely. I mean, as a person, as a human being. I'm with you. Yeah, plus one. I got to play with him on Sunday. And let me tell you, not only did I have fun, I would have ran through a wall for that guy.
13:47Rich Eisen:At one point, he's playing big booty mix 15. And we're just jamming. And we're like dancing in the middle of the fairway. And then he realizes, you know, I'm shooting for Miz Golf. My YouTube channel said, oh, do you need me to turn this down? I'm like, no. As a matter of fact, turn that bad boy up. Because I need to body roll. And I need to show people my dance moves instead of my golf swing. Was that the round where he shotgun beers? ah yes we did shotgun beers that was on hole 17 myself uh didn't i needed that actually because george kittle super kicked me on 17 walk me through that miz obviously in advance of summer slam that is uh exclusively live in the u.s streamed on peacock at 6 eastern time uh this weekend and streams internationally on netflix walk me through that moment on 17 t uh with george kittle of the 49ers for all those people that are not do not understand golf there's an honor system and when you beat people you get to have honors on the t-box yes sir it was my honors maybe george got lost in the moment because there were thousands of people you know watching him play golf and he goes up and steps up to the t-box it was my honors it's my honors rich so what do i do i go up there and say, excuse me, sir, it's my honors.
15:12Rich Eisen:He gave a little lip back. So what do I do? I kind of say, hey, it is my honors. He gives me a little shove. I shove him back. I don't know if you noticed the shove, but kind of took him back a couple steps. I mean, for a guy that blocks for a living, I took him back pretty simply, right? So then I put my ball down. My back is towards George Kittle. No idea what he's doing back there. I'm thinking he's talking with Baker, about to watch me hit a hole in one on 17. Everyone's going to go absolutely mayhem. People are going to have celebration. I celebrate myself. I go, everyone, get the crowd up.
15:48Rich Eisen:You know, get them going. The crowd's rumbling. They're ready to go. Little did I know, George Kittle has stepped back and is looking like Shawn Michaels' sweet chin music and gearing up, tuning up the band. So the band wasn't tuning up for me. They were tuning up for George Kittle. I did not see this. I turn around to hear what's going on. George Kittle super kicks me. I lay down. He puts his ball down. He shoots. Not a nice guy. Afterwards, Baker Mayfield gave me a beer, said, hey, Mike, shotgun a beer with us. And I said, yes, sir. That's exactly what I needed in that moment. He knows what to do when a person is down low.
16:27Rich Eisen:That's the Baker Mayfield I want in my locker room, not George Kittle. That is everybody right here on the program. Fantastic. All right. Walk me through. What did you think when you saw that, by the way? I thought you would come up with it maybe on the 16th green and say, let's do this. That's what I thought. I mean, you did see Unreal on Netflix, didn't you? There's a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that people don't know that are now able to kind of get a grasp of what we do and what it goes through to make an incredible show like Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown or even SummerSlam, two nights, first time ever.
17:04Rich Eisen:we're giving you an inside look behind the scenes of a show called unreal it's with peyton manning's crew nfl films who by the way do unbelievable documentaries if you love hard knocks you know these are the same people that have brought you those quarterback receiver these are shows that i love watching i love the insights i love seeing the mind of a current cousins because it kind of reminds me of the kind of way my mind works and I go oh so I'm not the only one that is a lunatic like this and just thinks like this so there's others like me um so yeah so we we we have this new show unreal um and so yeah I guess uh going back to George Kittle uh I I thought of that probably on the fifth hole I go hey we got to do something on 17 and he's like I'm down what do you want to do i love it and so i had him like shoulder tackling me and he was like hey you know i can super kick right and i go no you can't so like on the sixth hole there was like maybe three people on the sixth hole because sixth hole isn't like one of the the holes right sure so i was like hey let's practice that let me see your super kick and so literally he kind of gave it i went oh he can actually do it okay okay let's go i love it now did he clip me a little bit sure oh but i'll take that all day for the audience in on nbc as well as the audience out there the ms everybody again you're referring to wwe unreal that debuted on netflix july 29th season one have you seen it yet five 50 minute episodes i i don't have time to watch television but i will definitely do it triple h is narrating the docuseries it's awesome i mean i have seen some clips from it and this is exactly what fans want to see they they love the access they do want to see behind the scenes they do want to see the competition that you obviously have out there in advance of SummerSlam uh what what are you looking forward to being in MetLife here you know I tried to get into a match I've been gone uh for the past month and a half probably the longest I've ever been gone out of WWE I was filming American Gladiators um uh as the new host nice but um and so I haven't been back so I literally came back I think last week so there's not enough time for me to like develop a story to get into a SummerSlam so it's a little little wonks I'm like ah I really want to be in SummerSlam it's our it's our it's it's it's like a big big show of ours especially in the summer it's the biggest party of the summer and Drew McIntyre got landlocked in UK forgot his passport and he's in a big tag match with him and Logan Paul versus Jelly Roll and Randy Orton so what do I do I cut a promo and I say, hey, if this guy's out, I'm in.
19:52Rich Eisen:Because if this guy's going to be irresponsible and not bring his passport all the way to the UK because he's got to do a wedding, then this guy will be responsible. This guy will show up on the day and perform to the highest levels. However, he found a way back. I guess Logan got him back. And so, yeah, so that's going to be an incredible match. I can't wait to watch that. I can't wait to see what Jelly Roll does. You know, some people say, you know, oh, like big fans like of WWE, Uber fans, which our fans are very, very passionate. Whenever celebrities come into WWE, they always go, well, that spot could have been a person like myself.
20:34Rich Eisen:It could have been my spot, you know, that Jelly Roll took. But I look at it as Jelly Roll's bringing a whole new audience. And I want to see what Jelly Roll, an intrigue, because I want to see, I've watched Jelly Roll's mission to lose weight. I mean, I saw this guy at SummerSlam last year. I was in the ring with him, and when I hugged him, it was like this. And now when I hug him, it's like this. It's incredible. It's remarkable what he has been able to do to transform his body and get him in shape. And he's been saying the reason he's wanted to do that, not just to get healthy, but he wants to get in a WWE ring.
21:11Rich Eisen:And now he's going to have this chance. Unfortunately, he has this chance against Logan Paul. who I still believe hasn't touched the surface of how talented he truly is. Nobody understands. You can look at Unreal, and you can watch the documentary. You can see the insights. But when you get in a WWE ring, I can feel a person, and I know I've been there long enough, who is going to be a star and who is going to be the next big thing. I felt it with AJ. I felt it with Roman Reigns. and I feel it with Logan Paul. And I think he hasn't scratched the surface of his talent. This is going to be a match to watch.
21:52Rich Eisen:Anytime Roman Reigns is back, I look at him as the goat. I also look at John Cena as a goat. And he has been, it's been pretty incredible to watch because I'm used to Super Cena, right? I'm used to the guy that everyone's cheering. To see him be on a farewell tour, this is his last SummerSlam. We've already seen his last Royal Rumble. We've seen his last WrestleMania, and now we are here in his last SummerSlam, and he's going up against Cody Rhodes for the undisputed WWE Championship. And who's going to win that? I don't know. And again, it's the first ever two-night SummerSlam takes place this weekend.
22:31Rich Eisen:MetLife begins at 6 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock, internationally on Netflix. You just mentioned it's Cena's farewell SummerSlam and his farewell tour. Your Unreal premiered on Netflix on July 29th, and you, sir, on August 13th and 14th, Wednesday and Thursday of that week, are sitting in this chair to guest host this program, Miz, and I can't wait for you to do it. It's going to be a blast. I am so excited. When we were golfing at ACC and you were like, hey, would you ever want to step in? I was like, what do you mean? Step in and host my show? and I go, it would be an absolute honor. I mean, it would be a dream.
23:13Rich Eisen:I watch this show. I've known you for so long. Right back at you. And to be able to step into your shoes and sit at your desk. Yes, sir. And be able to put on a show like, hopefully only I know how. That's right. Maybe a little bit by you, you know. But I plan on making it absolutely entertaining. Sports talk, entertainment, you name it, we're going to do it. It's going to be a lot of fun. and I appreciate you allowing me to do it. Of course, and just know this, Rollins did it, and he set the bar high. He set it really high. I watched it, and I was actually proud because I know people don't understand that you make it look so easy.
23:50Rich Eisen:You really do. It's like with WWE superstars. I'd like to see an Unreal with the Rich Eisen show, to be honest with you, because you guys got a lot going on back there that people don't see and people don't understand. You're on the air for three hours a day. Yes, sir. That's a lot. that's a lot of talking and a lot of things to keep it moving and you make it so effortless and seamless seth rollins did exactly that as well gave me everything i wanted as for a rich eyes and show and i plan on piggybacking off of what you guys did and hopefully elevating it as much as i possibly can to do the best i possibly can for you and the show and your fans it'll be great love you man can't wait thanks miz go on thanks guys appreciate the time always great to see you At Mike the Miz, the great the Miz right here on the Rich Eisen Show.

26:30Rich Eisen:It's okay because he's got things going on. He's one of those guys, too, that doesn't matter, right? It doesn't matter. We go so far back, it doesn't matter. He's interviewing Prime. That's right. He's doing stuff. Colorado one day, he's in Texas the next. He's all over the map. So we reached out to his scheduler, who's fantastic, to say, how about the Rich Eisenhower? I went through official channels. That's right. and i get a text screen grab from michael texted to confirm he's coming on the show the back and forth with liz pop it up on the screen here it is but don't pay attention to the back and forth here other than i will step away from all the people who are there for my autographs to spend a few minutes with my brother rich eisen at this very moment in time do you see the number at the top left of your screen 150 unread text messages no wonder i'm not getting anything back put them on the screen right now i wish you could see her right now 150 that's almost two times 88 michael what's up oh my god rich rich called rich text me back he said 150 unread how do you know that i don't even know that that number of getting a quarter is how many unreaded fans.
27:47I don't even know that.
27:53Rich Eisen:So no wonder. I mean, I got to set up a fire. Where in the world is this? Oh my God. That is so funny. I'm in Chicago. Oh, in Chicago. Then I'm headed to Ken. That's right. That's right. We got a football game today. Can you believe that? We're here. We're here, Rich. And all season, all of that. And the best part about this, everybody right now believes they got a Super Bowl winner in their city. Every team think they have a shot right now. So I'm excited about starting the season. This is it, Michael Irvin. And, of course, that's the beauty of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, right, as we celebrate the rebirth of a season by celebrating the history of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

28:46Rich Eisen:And I love that you go back because, you know, the event is that much better because folks like you go back and chime in. I love all of that. So let's just jump right into it with you, Irv, because I know you spoke with Prime. Let's just jump right into it. How's he doing? How's it going? Rich, he's doing great, Rich. And I'm going to tell you something, Rich. You know, man, that was one of the most difficult interviews I've ever done. Because I knew that Dion, I knew he had cancer. He called me up and told me right away. And I was actually carrying the burden of knowing. Yeah. And I wouldn't say anything to anybody because of the guy.
29:26Now, I know he didn't even tell some of his family members. You know, Rich, let me tell you what hurts me so much. And, you know, I've been around a long time. I know I got to try to detach when I'm doing an interview. But to hear Deion, to hear him say that, you know, he was dealing with this on drafting, you know. Dude, dude, you only get that day one time. You worked 20, 25 years with your kids to get them to this one place. and my heart just broke on it because think about this, think about this. Him and Stewart always go back and forth talking about, you know, I want to get drafted in a higher spot than my dad and everybody did better for Jacob number two that he would have been in a higher spot.
30:17Deion, I see Deion as such a great man. He took his greatest pain and turned it into his greatest promise. He didn't have a father. He becomes a father for all of these kids. But his man, his kid's kids. on drafting he's sitting there with cancer not telling anyone worrying about dying not saying anything to anyone and and just if i can have this great day for my son it could lift my spirit and then we know what happened on draft day i can't even imagine you put all that's 20 25 years of work for that one day all gone and everybody's probably sitting around saying man he should no top of the world.
31:02He's got a big contract and something about. He's been drafted. Man, it's amazing. But as great as that mess was, the pain and everything he's going through, look at the message that comes out of it.
31:15Rich Eisen:No doubt. He talks about motivation and inspiration all the time. That's his talk. God displayed his walk right before everybody. His walk lined up to what he's always talked about. I thought, you know, It broke my heart, but the way it all played out, really, in the end, I believe he wins. Well, I mean, the thing that struck me about his press conference the other day, Irv, was him getting the message out that people need to get checked out, right? To make sure, and don't be embarrassed to check yourself out. and and and for him to talk in such plain language about things that men of our age certainly if you you're going through not being able to control your bladder you don't want to talk about it wearing a diaper you don't want to talk about it and he was so open about it that maybe you take away the stigma of getting checked out like he's i i really was moved by that and you know and i i don't know will there be like facilities on the sideline for him you know on opening day for for the buffaloes right and and and this is what he's going to be dealing with obviously but he's going to be out there coaching with sap and and falk our guys you know i really i was so moved by the whole thing erv yeah rich rich you're right rich especially me and our age uh a lot of guys i'm dealing with, I promise you, all of my friends, all of them, it seems like everybody around me, all of my close friends, have gotten some kind of cancer.
32:55And it's scary because, you know, you'd be thinking batters up. Get in the batter's box, you know, batters up. You know, that kind of thing. And it bothers you and it scares you. So, yeah, it's something to worry about all the time, to be honest with you. But I guarantee you this, Rich, what you just said, I guarantee you Dion does something like that. I've always said, no matter where he set his feet in the sand, he leaves the footprint of greatness. That means he leaves his mark. And I guarantee you he'll leave his mark on this.
33:27Rich Eisen:Michael Irvin here on the Rich Eisen Show. Let's talk Cowboys, Irv. Can you give me the insight? I know you've negotiated your contract with Jerry Jones and things of that nature. We've seen it with Dak. We've seen it now at Seedy just last year. and now Micah's going through it again and we know they're not going to let him go. He's not going to walk and they're also not going to, they're going to pay him. He's going to be there. What gives? Like what insight can you provide to us as to why the business is conducted the way that it is? Yeah, and I heard all of the things that Steven said, Steven Jones said, you know, you got to have guys that want to do a contract and you can't just pay a guy $5 million over, you know, We know the game that goes back and forth.
34:16Reality is, I think what they should do with Michael Parson is make him that generational-type player. Do the same thing with Michael Parson as what the Kansas City Chiefs have done with Patrick Mahomes. If I'm Jerry, I'm stepping up right now and trying to give Michael Parson a 10-year,$450 million goal.
34:40Rich Eisen:Wow, okay. For 45 a year. But listen, listen. And it's over 10 years. So you can spread that out and put a lot on the back end and help with the cap and give him the money right now. I want you to do what they did with Patrick Mahomes right here. And then you can always go into his contract to help with other contracts. Michael Parson isn't going anywhere. He seems to praise. He loves the star. And he's a great, great player to have for the star. I don't understand. That, I understand. Michael Parsons is supposed to be done right now. And that's the disappointing part. And that would be a great part.
35:24Right now, if the Cowboys had Michael Parsons done, it would be full steam ahead going into the season. He has to be careful because you don't pay Michael Parsons. After you alienated somewhat, But Trayvon Diggs, by even bringing out that he's getting his money deducted, I thought you should have just left that in-house. Just deduct the$500 ,000 and leave the rest in-house. We don't have to tell the media. Because now, the next day, I see Michael Parsons and Trayvon Diggs together standing, talking about Michael Parsons, saying, I want my money. Three days before that, he was saying, I'm good.
36:03I'm taking my time. I'm okay. Things are worked out. And then, you know, three days later, he was singing a different tone. Jerry has to be careful about that.
36:14Rich Eisen:I agree with you. In the meantime, though, you know how teams grow and how, you know, chemistry blossoms at any given moment in training camp. Yesterday there was, while you were probably flying to Chicago, there was a fight in Oxnard, you know, one of your typical training camp fights. And Brian Schottenheimer stepped in, cursed people out, made them run. including coaches. C.D. Lamb was asked after practice, like, what did Schottenheimer say? And he said the PG version was essentially, do you want to be champions? And how there's a disciplinary factor here. There's more discipline in this training camp.
36:54Rich Eisen:And that's what the team's been needing, that it's been more discipline issues in terms of talent. And I'm wondering how you think that lands, Irv. that's the song that I've been on a microphone trying to sing like a, like a young Diana Roth for a long time. You know, you absolutely right, Rich. And let's be real, Rich. You know, you can't leave Saturday afternoon, leave practice and show up at the game 3 PM the next day and think you're going to be, you know, disciplined and everything. while the other guys, they've been eating, sleeping, and literally doing football. You know what I'm saying?
37:35You can't just show up. So he's right. He has to put discipline on this team. And I like when I see somebody, you make a mistake, you jump both sides, you go pay for it. Those kind of things that makes a difference and make a champion. I'm telling you, Shadi's got me excited. he's creating competition under pressure all the time in every aspect of this football team and what do you think in the end in the end of games what is it what does it take to win competition and you're going to be playing that competition under pressure so creating it in practice in every way helps win games and he's doing that so i'm excited about it that's why the Michael Parsons thing is even bigger.
38:19Why don't you want to give him every chance in his first year by making sure he has everybody and not dealing with these things that you can control? Just get the deal done.
38:31Rich Eisen:Don't tell me how rocky the waters are. I don't care how much the ship is shaking. Just bring that shake the ship in and dock and say we got Michael Parsons signed. That's all you need to do. In a couple minutes we have left because I don't want to take you away from your adoring autograph-seeking fans um the you've been through the the wars with repeating and then trying to make it back what is the biggest challenge for the chiefs here or they they they went for the three-peat they were the first team to ever go for a three-peat in the super bowl and they got smacked by the eagles and now you know we are everyone's talking about the broncos when they come on this show chargers this raiders might Might even be improved.
39:16Rich Eisen:You know, I think everybody believes that maybe the Chiefs can get got this year. What's your message as somebody who's been through all this before? Well, you know, and listen, let me tell you something. I hear everybody always talking about what they expect out of the Broncos. What they expect out of the Raiders. You can expect all you want. What you know is Patrick Mahomes. Don't be Patrick Mahomes. I don't care about none of that. And you know, you know they solidified that offensive line. I don't care about none. All that other stuff is hope. It's just hope. One five is real, and he is live.
40:00Ain't no hope in it. You know what he's going to do. So those teams are going to be better. And he's got great coaching in the division. And everybody's going to be better. But ain't nobody Don't have Patrick Mahomes But the Kansas City Chiefs And I believe the Kansas City Chiefs Will be right back in the thick of things Because of Patrick Mahomes Barden up
40:24Rich Eisen:One day you'll be sharing a bus room With him as well Alright so who are you seeking out When you finally land in Canton Who do you seek out Irv What do you mean Who from the Hall of Fame are you seeking out I mean, when your fellow Hall of Famers. Oh, well, I get to see all of that. Let me tell you something. I just took a picture. You know who I love here, man? I get to see it. I just saw him. It was Megatron, Calvin Johnson. Yeah. Calvin, that right there. If I didn't see him here, I'll see him there, too. But I just, it's the only guy, I got to take a picture with him. I'm about to post. Because Calvin, he says, you know, he's that dude, man.
41:04What about Haley?
41:05Rich Eisen:Did you seek out Haley? Or you try to just like, what did you see came out first? Oh, yeah, yeah. I try to make sure I know what Hayley is. I know what Charles Hayley is, so I can make sure I don't mess with him in trouble. I don't want to know what he is, right? And I guarantee you, Rich, Chucky comes always with something for you to do. No matter what. Because he does such a great job. He does such a great job with Tyco Tomorrow. I want to give his foundation all the credit in the world. He really helps a lot of kids with education and giving them opportunities. He does a great job. But, you know, every time he has an ask, I need you to sign these.
41:45I need you to do this. I need you to do this. And he always said, it's for the kids. It really is for the kids. But I never see a dude beg so much like Chuck. He will beg. But, yeah, yeah. We all know Chuck is coming for the kids.
41:58Rich Eisen:I love you, Irv. I love every bit of you, man. I miss you. I haven't been doing any TV, man, so I appreciate you bringing an old fella like me on. Hey, this is your nerve. You know this place. I would take you as much as you want. I just need to be one of the red texts. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. We'll get it done. How do I get in the read text? How do I get out of that blue 150 oval at the top left of the screen? How do I get out of that? how do I get out of that phantom zone you know what I mean Rich you just put the text up where I said how do you know I got 150 oh I didn't get that way by the way I said just look at I circled it in a yellow I'm like arrowed it I'm like that right there and then that face is an emoji he has his own laughing laughing emoji I should put that up I don't have that I don't know anything man I'm so technically I get it.
43:00That's why Liz and everybody take care of all of that for me.
43:04Rich Eisen:That was funny. Love you, Michael Irvin. I'm going to call you later. Answer my call. Hello, Calvin Johnson. Welcome by right now. They just asked me, who's the one guy I want to see? And I told him right here. I said, Megatron, the only dude I want to see right here. You see this man right here? What's up, Megatron? I told you, this is the man I want to see right here. This is a bad man. Hold on a second. Combined snaps I can get out of the two of you right now. Combined snaps. I told Calvin that. I told him, I said, boy, don't you? I said, you still look good. We ain't going to never let him get off.
43:47We ain't going to let him get off. I need a number.
43:50Rich Eisen:I need a number. Combined snaps of what I can get out of you guys right now. Right now? Yeah, right now. How many snaps? You heard what he said? And I'm going to echo that. You ain't got nail snapping me neither. He said, wait, wait, wait. Talk about it now. We going to look good, but ain't none of this function. Ain't none of this function.
44:12Rich Eisen:Take care, you guys. There you go. It's Michael Irvin. That was amazing. Appreciate it. Michael Irvin. Michael Irvin. That was incredible. All right. We'll take a break.

46:12It was a journey. All the time we got our butts kicked and we're going to do a players-only meeting and then just go get our butts kicked some more, you know, going through all of that. I'll tell people this. Troy Emmett, me, we never, never had a falling out, never had an argument, never had a fight because we knew what it was like building it from the bottom. And that's the thing that made us as good as we were. We all knew what the mission was. And we all bought into the game plan of transforming an organization from 1 in 15 to a championship organization. And Jimmy was at the helm of it. I knew once I got there what the expectation was going to be.
46:59I just did not know how difficult it was going to be to get all of that together. But through that whole entire process, we grew together. We matured together. We played at a high level together and we lost together. We went through a lot together. And so that team itself was built inside out and it was built to go out and destroy whatever it was in front of. Now we competed at the highest level amongst ourselves, which made us ready for anybody and anything that was out there. That's why we were different. So people look at us and they ask us, how about the current Cowboys? They ain't going through this.
47:40They haven't had to deal with the 115. They don't even know what it's like. And even if you're going through the 115, I don't mind some of Jimmy's old tricks. You know, when we lost in Washington, we should have won the game. We lost in Washington. That poor lady was trying to feed us on the airplane. Jimmy said, you take that damn fool and put it away. If they were hungry, they should have ate on the football field. And every away game, every away game, we get laid in the game. I used to come to the line and stew. Are we going to eat tonight? We going to eat tonight. Because y 'all know y 'all lose this game.
48:17Ain't no food gets served on that thing. You know. So, play for your supper? You eat five hours before the game. You eat five hours before the game. Everything. So, now you play the game. You exhaust. Everything's gone. You want some food. You want some food. And if you didn't win that game, ain't no food. Won no party. Nothing. You got a rotten plane like this. The plane was quiet. The whole time back. Nobody said it worked. I'll never forget the one time. We did lose to Washington. But we was coming back. We may have been coming back from D.C. And there was a little noise on the plane. Well, Jimmy went off.
48:55He came back there. Went off. I feel bad. He had just got done watching the live feed. He came back there, man, and Rob. I mean, everybody. Everybody heads on the block. Yeah, yeah. I'm not going to call out no names. But it was everybody. Everybody heads on the block. Shut up and shut up. You say another word, I'm going to cut you before the plane lands. He said that? We said that. We said that. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. So you get to 4-4, you're like, Joker, what y 'all going to do now? You can either whoop these jokers or we're going to deal with that joker. Let's go. And it was always easy to just whoop their ass.
49:38To get on that plate and get us some to eat. It's one of those things where you better go outside and whoop somebody behind and then come back to the house and say, Mama, we did what we needed to do. Can we get something to eat now?
49:51Rich Eisen:I love real talk like that. That is real football, real facility locker room talk. Love it. Back on the Rich Eisen Show radio network. So I can never sign that sheet, Rich. Ten years,$450 million contract for Micah Parsons. Treat him like a franchise quarterback. Treat him like what the Chiefs did with Mahomes and keep revisiting the contract and redoing it, just like the Chiefs are, just to create the necessary cap room to keep things afloat. What do you think of that idea, Chris? You're like nodding your head in agreement. I think that's genius. but because it's so genius they won't do it 10 years 45 million dollars for a pass rusher Von Miller is how old and still productive maybe not for the price tag but in 10 years you put an out in at 6 sure you can put outs in at various points but you just think about the salary cap too in 10 years 45 is probably going to be pretty cheap it keeps going up It's not going down.
50:51Rich Eisen:As we saw from the only publicly owned franchise in the National Football League, $423.5 million was shared amongst every team from the league office. And that boils down to the largest salary caps. I understand that, but that's a tall order. I don't think they're going to do that. You could even make it eight for$400. and get something done. Just keep throwing out numbers. You'll eventually learn. Pay that man his money. Makes too much sense. Hour number three, Gotham Chopra talking Tom Brady and so much more in your phone calls. 844-204-RICH, number to dial right here on the program. But remember when Patrick Mahomes signed that deal, we're like, whoa, that is outrageous.
51:39Rich Eisen:And now he's an absolute bargain. Maybe the best bargain in the league. And they keep dipping back in to try and figure out how to redo it, Give them more cash and mess with the cap to their favor and sign people. And it's worked out great. So far, so good. And it's one of the best deals in sports. So why wouldn't Dallas look to do something similar with the face of their franchise? I mean, there are differences, obviously, why they wouldn't. But who's the next guy that they're going to wait to pay that everybody knows? There's no one else, right? This is the last one. I mean, Ferguson got paid.
52:11Rich Eisen:No, but I'm talking about clearly obvious, top of the market, breaking the market share, or at least coming close to it. CD didn't break Justin Jefferson's standard, but came awful close. That's it. Dak is still 60. When they say we're not going to pay somebody$5 million more, you know, just to do it early, which runs completely counter to signing someone early. So you don't have to pay the 5 million more. Right. Right. But then they weigh overpaid deck. Right. He's still, he's still 60. Only one hit that mark. And we're keep saying who's going to be the next one to do it. And I don't know who's going to be the next one to do it.
52:56Rich Eisen:I mentioned Stroud last year, right? I'd be Jaden Daniels, but we'll see what years two and three hold. Right. Jeez. You just wait until my boy Arch gets that$70 million. Woo! That's coming. I still can't believe somebody asked an owner in the National Football League about drafting Arch Manning, and he hasn't even started a full season for Texas yet. He's played like three games. Yeah, but we all know. The story's already been written. The writing's on the wall. Man, should I rent a Bevo-type animal and have that animal here in advance of Texas playing Ohio State? Just to show you how much I'm going to be rooting for the Longhorns.
53:42Rich Eisen:What's wild is that is the first game of the year. What day is that? Is that August? Late August? Yeah, hold on a little. Wow. By the way, kudos to them for starting off against each other like that. Yeah, let's get out of the way. That's what Michigan and Notre Dame used to do for everybody until Notre Dame ran. Is that what happened? They did run. Yeah. They absolutely did run. Say what you will about Brady Hoke. He said the chickens are running. and that's what he referred to Notre Dame. They ran. They want that smoke. I mean, they have enough smoke. Like they should put their smoke against ours.
54:12Rich Eisen:What a great way to start the season with two massive programs. August 30th. I mean, that's it. August 30th. Pretty crazy. Let's roll. Let's get it done. That's the look you get when you're like, really, are you asking me about Arch Manning right now? I got four quarterbacks in one room. The four faces.
