In short

The No Contest Wrestling Podcast episode covers WWE’s King/Queen of the Ring outcomes and the fallout heading into SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell. Hosts discuss how Seth Rollins beat Braun Breaker in a steel cage match, how Eo Sky won Queen of the Ring by defeating Liv Morgan, and how Oba Femi won King of the Ring but didn’t immediately cash in. They argue Oba’s failure to take a title shot “doesn’t make sense” given the tournament’s prestige, though they speculate Brock Lesnar’s interference and scheduling changes explain it.

Key claim

Sami Zayn is the new Undisputed WWE Champion, and the win was long-building through Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and Bloodline storylines. Guests praise Zayn’s career arc (from El Generico to NXT, major matches including Knoxville, and Bloodline turnaround) and want WWE to let him have a real reign rather than a “transitional” short one.

Notable examples

Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi for Hell in a Cell; Eo vs Liv at SummerSlam; Seth vs Braun cage finish (super stomp); Trick Williams retaining the US title; Tiffany Stratton retaining the Women’s US title; and Sami defeating Gunther and Cody in the main event.

0:35O'Shea:ladies and gentlemen welcome to another episode of the no contest wrestling podcast i am the heel that you love the hey o'shea jackson jr hey k-a petty guerrero hey yo it's me it's me it's the t-double-o the j-i-double-g two jiggy tj jefferson and hey man on wednesdays we wear pink let's give a shout out to this n-w-o rodman trick see you shout out to trinity rodman also by the way She's dope. Yes, indeed. She's dope. And who else did you? Regina George. Right, because she kind of started it. Yeah. Hey, quick story real quick. I was supposed to go to the premiere of that movie, Mean Girls. I was friends with Lindsay Lohan back in the day.

1:15And then I called her the day. She's like, oh, I forgot to leave the ticket. So I got halfway down to Hollywood, turned around and went back home. So I never got to see Mean Girls. I mean, you know, I was going to say something.

1:27O'Shea:Yeah, don't say nothing, man. that's just a little TJ's speaking of first of all you're doing a bunch of shout outs you got somebody you wanted to shout out do I? yeah my man oh that's right so the other day man I go to Shake Shack in the Marina Del Rey right go to Shake Shack go get my food they call my name I go up to the counter my man was like yo I love your wrestling podcast and I was like word he was like yeah and then we sat there we chopped it up for about 10 minutes, right? So shout out to my man Paul from Shake Shack for rocking with the No Contest Wrestling Podcast. He said he was going to be looking and watching, so I wanted to give him a shout out.

2:06Because it's always, for you it's a different thing, right? Because you being an actor you know, and who your family is, I'm sure you're used, and I've seen it. You're more so used to people coming up. I've seen people talk to you because of your pops. I've seen people talk to you because of what you do. But like, for me, it's still kind of a new thing. You know, to have people stop me London, England, for instance. Or at the Shake Shack in Marina Del Rey. Just to say how much they like what we've made and what we're doing here, man. It's always humbling and it's always really cool to have people say they like what we're doing.

2:40O'Shea:And I love when people when they give us props on the low in public so it's like we in some secret society. Hey, hey, hey. Love what y 'all do over there, man. Wrestling is kind of like a secret society. Yeah, man. Shout out to Paul. Shout out to Paul. Shake Shack Paul. Paul Shake Shack. You go to Shake Shack, by the way, get your stuff well done. Your fries and your nuggets, I'm telling you. It's a game changer. Hey, hold on. We're going to have a friend conversation for a second. Y 'all feel free to join in wherever you listen. Yeah, because you're friends with us. That Royale with cheese. By the way.

3:16So another thing. Shay and I went to lunch this week. We went to this spot in Studio City. Yeah. And the waitress has given us the menu, and she mentions that they have a burger, and it's the Royale with cheese. Now, I looked at the menu before I went there. I tend to do that. Smart, by the way. I had my mind set on something else. And then she said Royale with cheese. I was going fish tacos. Yeah. And she said Royale with cheese. And you and I looked at each other and was like, well, come on. We got to get that. You know what? It was a very tasty burger. A tasty burger. A tasty burger. It was a tasty burger, Brad.

3:51O'Shea:That Royale with cheese, man. Shout out to Front Yard. Yeah, Front Yard. Front Yard in Studio City. People over there. Didn't get our server's name. But shout out to you as well. So that's what we was doing. Yeah, you know, welcome back to the wrestling pod. Wrestling was busy last weekend. Yeah, and I just want to point out, because those who have listened and watched us know that we had our prediction for how this king of the ring queen of the ring was going to go and we were wrong and right at the same time right because we were like oh well this is gonna this like it's just set up seth and roman and then we said wrestlemania was going to be the end game for those yeah and like here we are with seth and roman again and then we said that well Brock should obviously stop Oba from getting it because like why would he get a title shot if we know that Brock wants to end it in Minneapolis Oba won but Brock interrupted him anyway I don't know that Brock is going to end it in Minneapolis I mean I don't I don't think so now we are yeah I don't know I thought I thought homeboy retired but yeah I mean we saw him took it off but gloves and the boots.

5:10O'Shea:It's one thing that changes men's mind. It is a pile of cash. Money, money, money, money. Yeah, and I know they threw it at the Vanilla Gorilla. And he is... I mean, he's here. They're tied one and one. I guess this would be the deciding factor, but who knows? There's still not necessarily anybody of the stature to be an OBA rival just yet. besides Brock. So, you know, we shall see. We shall see, but let's not bury the lead. We have a new undisputed WWE champion of the world, and his name is Samuel Zayn. I don't know if it's really Samuel, but you know, I do have a name. Come on, man. What's Sam short for?

5:58Sammy Zayn, man. And I gotta be honest with you, Shay. This didn't come out of nowhere, because if you look, this Cody story with Sammy and Gunther it's been building for months so it's not like it just kind of blindsided you if you really paid attention like we said it kind of would make and you said it last week it would kind of make sense of all places if you're gonna do it this is the place to do it and I gotta be honest dog when that three count hit a smile

6:27O'Shea:crossed my face because I was like why not why the hell not Yeah. And, you know, there's a lot of things that go into it. Obviously, I got to stop saying obviously, but sometimes it's obvious. Yeah, right. Sammy Zane, one of the hardest workers put into crazy positions and still making entertainment, still making it work, still making us believe what we're seeing. you and I in conversation you've brought up the fact that he had to make that Knoxville match happen think about that man the giant hand match was that 40 in Dallas whatever 39 maybe LA had 39 so I had to be 38 you know him putting that Knoxville jackass match over I had less than zero interest in that match before that bell rang I was there in the building by the time that was over I was applauding like this was fun entertaining it's entertainment it's world wrestling entertainment yeah and he did that and think about you know sammy from before nxt the generic el generico day seeing him at pro wrestling gorilla for him to be in my opinion the most popular nxt star probably ever for him to debut against john cena and and dislocate his shoulder and still manage to pop it back in and have an awesome match with the never seen 17 just everything remember the the faction with nakamura and and cesaro that he was in like all the matches with kevin owens and then getting to the bloodline and kind of being kind of like the person who turned the bloodline around a little bit it's kind of made it kind of made him uh the lovable bad guy right so all of that and then him main eventing Wrestlemania winning the tag team championships like he's been force fed a lot of crap and he's just a man has feared a way to turn shit into sugar he has man he's taken those lemons and he's made lemonade as a vet in the game much like I was happy when Kofi finally won after everything he went through in his long journey and I said this I wish I would have clipped it I know in one episode I said But I thought this was going to be the year that Sami Zayn, especially after Jey Uso got that world championship.

8:52Yes, sir. I thought that this was going to be the year that Sami got that feel-good championship run. It didn't look like it was going to happen, though, for a while. I mean, the man put over the gingerbread. He got a gingerbread man over. Hold on. Rest in peace to the gingerbread man. But, yeah, man, so I know a lot of people on social media. Of course, the IWC is always going to have their thoughts on it. But for me personally, as a fan who's, you know, I think I'm pretty level-headed in my fandom. I don't take it too seriously. Yeah. But I do take it seriously. But I look at the bigger picture.

9:24And the bigger picture is how could you not be happy for a man who's dedicated his entire life to the thing that we love so much at the highest level? And he got a chance. Yeah. And why not, man?

9:34O'Shea:Why not, dude? And, you know, the RWC or, you know, the Motorcycle Club. and call them the Motorcycle Club because all we hear is, bitch, bitch, bitch, knack, knack, all the time. Die wine constantly. Yeah, and this feels good. And every now and then, wrestling got to make you feel good. Obviously, the naysayers are there. I even saw Vince Russo say that this was the equivalent to David Arquette winning, which it is not. That is so... Are you crazy? For him to say that. And didn't you make that happen? Russo? What the hell are you talking about? And I'll respect to David Arquette because if they tell you right now, Shea Jackson, we're going to put you in this match and you're going to become the world champion.

10:20Are you kidding? Yeah, you're going to do it. Are you kidding? But, like, come on. To have that audacity. Do you know what type of madness me and you would take if I ever won? You be on one now and you ain't the world champion. So I can't imagine if they actually gave one of you. TJ, we going out, baby. Yeah, man, for him, the person who made that happen, to say that, like, Sami Zayn isn't one of the best wrestlers in the world.

10:45O'Shea:Yeah, like, bro, almost two decades of putting his body on the line. Yeah, come on. Entertaining at every single promotion he's been in. Like, he, you deserve it. Yeah, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. And while there has been the moaning and complaining on the internet, And there have also been some great think pieces. Somebody posted that he's the last one of the Dusty guys from NXT. I wanted to bring, yeah. That is like symbolic. And you think about all the Dusty's kids who've won. Everyone from Seth to E. You got to throw Paige in there. Roman. Paige, they didn't put any of the girls in there.

11:27Yeah, right, right. Paige being a champion. Roman being a champion. And like the list goes on of Dusty's kids and for him to actually beat Dusty's kid for this. First of all, I grew up like, you know, I grew up watching the American dream Dusty Rhodes. That was my, that was my period of my introduction period to wrestling. My grandpa used to always wonder. And sometimes I look back now as an adult, I wonder did grandpa not really, because sometimes my grandpa would sit there and get so mad at the four horsemen. And I got to tell, I got to share this story with Cody Rhodes when he came on the rich eyes and show years ago.

12:00I was like, Grandpa would get so mad. And he would sit there and go, why don't Dusty get him a crew? And wait out, wait at the gas station and get Ric Flair or get the key. Like, why don't he get Magnum TV? Bring his ass. Yeah, so Grandpa used to, every time Dusty would get beat down by the four horse, my grandpa would get so upset. It hurt.

12:19O'Shea:He was watching my friend get jumped every week. Dusty had that brother in him, you know, for sure. But, yeah, so all of Dusty's kids. And you can go, you can go and look it up. they've all been champions top of the mountain so yeah that's another cool thing beautiful about it and then my favorite part is everybody was so worried and upset that the bloodline was gonna have both belts what do you gotta say man Sammy Uso got the belt Sammy Uso got the belt in essence they do got it exactly exactly things are how they're supposed to be but i'm uh extremely happy for the guy i've had the pleasure of meeting him backstage uh i think 2018 2019 and uh i told him then i was like dude you're so good at your job yeah you know like you're so good at what you do and you know he will forever, when they mention his name, he was top dog at the top company.

13:27Yeah, I mean, like he said, it doesn't matter if it happens tomorrow. The fact that matters, you know, Tommy Wildfire Rich, back with the NWA, was the NWA in the premier wrestling company. He beat Harley Race for the NWA World Championship. He held the belt for five days. Five days. And yet, to this day, at every signing, everywhere he goes, when they put that banner behind him, former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Wildfire, they can never take this away from Zamy. And speaking of taking it away, I hope that they don't take it away too soon, Shea. Because he gave him the belt. Why not give him a little bit run for it?

14:06Why not let him duplicate what he did with that U.S. title when he had those open challenges? Just give him, let's wrestle for a change. Let's actually have wrestling matches. I know this might be a weird concept. Take it easy now, bro. You're going to get us killed. Why not have some wrestling matches? Why not put him up against Dragunov again? Why not put him up against Melo? Give these guys wrestling. I love wrestling. I want to see people wrestle. Don't take it away from them so quick.

14:31O'Shea:Speaking of wrestling matches, shout out to Gable and JD McDonough. Woo, banger. That was like, I was like, oh, okay, they're going hard right now. A wrestling match on a wrestling show, imagine. Yeah, imagine that. But yeah, man, just, I understand he's probably going to be here for a good time, not a long time. Yeah. You know what I mean? But I haven't had a good time in a long time. Oh, nice. That was well done. Yeah, like, number one, I wanted to say, if I knew that I had the world title and I only had five days, bro, during them five days, they would not want that belt back. I'll tell you right now, it's getting crazy.

15:08O'Shea:You saw what Seth and Becky did with titles. You saw with Punk had him and AJ's titles around. Did you happen to see the screenshot of Montez FaceTiming Bianca and he had to stop doing this. Stop doing this. You just said you would do it. Yeah, I know. I'm a bad influence. Do not do that. I don't want to see pictures. I don't need to see the evidence. My man Sammy's driving around with the top down in the car. and when I won my third fantasy football championship I'm going to send this picture to D 'Lo I strapped it up in the front seat put the top down and drove all around Los Angeles I'll be sending my homies pictures every day she's doing great if you're wondering I slept with her that night she was in the bed I got a picture I'll show you she fell asleep in my arms and everything you see people were on the freeway at night driving home and they drove by Sammy did you see this video?

16:04this kid was recording from his car he's yelling out to it's pitch blackout you deserve it and they catch up and Sammy is sitting there with the top down holds the belt up while he's driving on the highway and he's like yeah

16:16O'Shea:now that is who we gotta ask what was that night like that first night what was that like I did put the request in for Samuel Samuel Zane Sammy hit us up baby but I also wanted to talk about I think we have a unique opportunity where we especially after Roman we as wrestling fans see somebody win a title and think like oh he's he's not about to drop it you know the next fight I think we're in a unique opportunity where everyone thinks Sammy's gonna drop it right right so you're now now that that ideology is flipped so you have a chance to really have some interesting matches because everybody's gonna pick the other guy with Sammy.

17:03O'Shea:And so you have a lot of, like, you can make some interesting situations because people are going to be like, oh, well, all right, so here's, as you said before the camera started, a word that you hate now. Oh, let's get into it. Transitional, dog. The second that three count hit, you go on social media and it's like everyone on social media, they cling to these keywords. Like, as soon as somebody uses the word, I saw the word transitional and at least 65 tweets. 65 the same transition. I don't know if it was really 65. 65 is a great number. I knew it was more than 10 and less than 100. 65 is a number of concern.

17:49O'Shea:Oh my God, it must be an epidemic. I just threw that out there. I just knew it was a lot. The transitional stop. Just to go into further rabbit hole it's a simulation talk. I've noticed that that happens a lot where there'll be a new hot word that is out in the zeitgeist that everybody's using. Like last year, it was a narcissist. I saw the word narcissist everywhere in shows, on streamers, in tweets. It was just like everybody learned this word this year. Earlier this year, it was a performative. Performative. Now, everybody's using that in their lingo. But wrestling fans is a couple of guys who watched a couple of documentaries, heard some hot words, and think that they are in the know.

18:40O'Shea:And so they use them. And the beauty about it is we don't know what's coming next. That's why you watch every week. If you knew what was going to happen, you wouldn't watch. So I think they're in an interesting spot right now. Sammy also kind of needs this because he was getting to the point where, man, my sister Karima will attest to this, where it was like, Sammy, what are you you keep having this whiny underdog feel to your promos. You know how many titles you've had? Bro, right? You've set some records, man. And you're not the underdog no more. Now he is the champion of the world and still the underdog.

19:29O'Shea:So they have something interesting that they can do and I hope they use it. As you know, Cody don't like not having old glory around his waist. He don't like that, which is a perfect opportunity for my heel idea, but you know, you guys will see. Maybe I'll put that out. The one from the van? Yeah. I'm telling you, dog. Him wanting to get that back and yeah why not and here's here's some wild thought where's wrestlemania next year oh yeah you don't think uh what if i mean is there a chance that sammy could keep the belt i mean it's probably not gonna happen it definitely won't happen but just imagine and also what what does that do to him and cody's storyline because cody you've never made it past wrestlemania after you won the title you've never got to do that that might be interesting in their little back and forth because you won it at Mania but when you got to your Mania you lost it so like maybe it's something interesting to be like oh you know let me get past that Saudi Mania that might be a little interesting little tidbit they can throw in their little back and forth promos that they've been doing I mean look we know good and well he ain't gonna hold it that long but do I I mean, do I?

20:48I think we know he's not. I think we know because we don't. I don't know, but I know this because, you know, they pre-taped SmackDown so the spoilers were out. My God. Cody and Jay had a match, number one contenders match, which Cody won, which means that I guess, I don't know if it's this Friday. I don't know when, but Cody. I saw somebody say it was going to have it on Raw. Cody and Sammy are going to have a match for that title, and please, we're Cody Rhodes fans here, But don't take that title off of Sami Zayn because what you do, what happens if you do that is now you're going to give even more power to the people online who are moaning and complaining and whining.

21:25And that transitional word will actually mean something. Do not flip that title this quick. If you gave him the title, give him a chance. Like I said, just give us some wrestling matches. Ain't nobody going to complain if he has a 15, 20-minute banger with Chad Gable on a Friday night. Who's going to complain about that?

21:46O'Shea:Not I. And also, if that were to happen, now you're getting into... You remember when Rey Mysterio lost to Cena? Within three hours? Yeah. You're getting into that type shit. Even though that was pretty awful. Yeah. You couldn't even make it out of the show with it. That territory of like... Well, what's the point then? What's the point? So you can have that. You can trend for a few days. Like, come on now. He deserves it. The only time I want to really feel threatened for Sami Zayn is I want him to be in the ring, just, you know, giving a promo. And I hear that. Oh, my God. We didn't even talk about that.

22:32We didn't even talk about that. You knew where I was going. I knew where you were. Oh, my goodness. The pop. The look on his face, all of that would be just gold. Also, that's a hill that he hasn't been able to really climb. Like, throughout the years, I don't know what the record is, but I can tell you that from what I've seen, Kevin Owens has won 92%. And again, I throw out random numbers. I don't know. I ain't good at math. I like math. Yeah, I mean, you know, like, you know, people are either, like, good at words or numbers. I am not good at numbers. But yeah, let's just say he's won 92 % of those matches.

23:03Yeah. So it would be good to see him be able to get over that hump that he hasn't been able to get over. But yeah, man, let's let Sammy ride a little bit. Congratulations to him. Let's not have this transitional thing be a thing. And we spoke about Riyadh, and I'm just going to say this. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with anybody out there. But when it comes to the Riyadh shows for the future, let's leave the ladies, especially the melanated ones, let's leave them at home. I'm all for women. I'm all for women's wrestling. But in this particular case, let's leave the women at home because, one, it doesn't seem like the crowd gives these women the respect and the love that they need, that they get to have, or that they should have.

23:53Two, you've got them wrestling in full body gear. That can't be comfortable. It's got to be hot. And two, like I said, the ladies of a particular shade never get shown the love that they need or deserve. I'm trying to get a pop over there. Yeah, man. So you know what? Maybe just leave them at home. And again, this is not me knocking women's wrestling. This is me saying they don't get the props that they deserve.

24:16O'Shea:That's just me. That's the first place I've ever seen Boo Bianca. Right? I was like, y 'all know this is Bianca, don't they? So, yeah, that's kind of a frustrating thing. But that's just a side note. You black. Anyway. Hey, speaking of things that people say don't make. I'm sorry. What were you about to say? I was going to say, we gave Sami a champion-sized segment. I would say so. Congratulations. Exactly. Samuel L. Zane. Samuel L. Zane. Now, you said something earlier about something not making sense. Yeah.

24:52This happened, and a lot of people online are saying it didn't make sense. Obafemi winning the king of the ring, that made perfect sense. Perfect sense. Obafemi not taking the title shot to a lot of people doesn't make sense and it has all the people who are the podcasters and the live reactioners going but what was the point of having King of the Ring if he wasn't going to get a title match? Now you correct me if I'm wrong Shay is Oba giving up a title match or is he putting the title match and say I'll do this at a different time I've got to handle this dude who just came down the ring and kicked me in the ding ding

25:29O'Shea:like now i will be there but it is specifically a title match at summer slam okay that because that was the whole thing of why we felt like well there's no reason why he should win or why live would be yeah it's like and also remember i said i think it was last week um when it came to that eo live match i was like all right so we just gonna get a rematch of the match we're watching right now we're gonna run it back yeah and um even though they jumped eo but we'll get to that in a minute. Yeah, the OBA thing is like, what the hell you have him in a tournament for? I get it that more OBA is more ratings.

26:09O'Shea:It's more gold. It's great for the resume. Yeah, but like, what you mean the titles will be there? Bro, you was in a tournament. You just want the crown? I mean, I get it. It's great on the mantelpiece. It looks like a nice crown. Not a lot of people, it's one of those things that's like not a lot of people have that. the titles will be there yes and people can win them all the time but there's only one king of the ring every year I'm going to check here to see how many men have actually won king of the ring yeah so it is a prestigious thing to have as a superstar as a wrestler like I was king of the ring you know but for him to be like yeah the titles will be there it just feels like it feels like our original thought of Brock should cost Oba the king of the ring and then you know Jay wins and then they do whatever whatever they're gonna do now there was word that Triple H was going to book it where Sammy won the title at Mania okay in in Saudi Arabia but they just bumped it up and moved things a little faster than what they were gonna to do so there could be a world where what we said was really going to happen and and all that and sammy being the one that was going to have the title maybe that didn't sell as much as a as as a jay versus cody championship match so like things had to be moved around so like let's just have oba win but yeah it's just kind of crazy it was like i threw it away because you mad at brock but there's a reason.

27:52O'Shea:Yeah, he has to get Brock. He has to get Brock. And by the way, if you go back and watch it, Oba's face when that music hit was kind of scary. He got a look on his face like this. Yeah, and we know the real Oba. We've hung out with him. Yeah, that's a big man. And it was still like, oh. Yeah, so then Brock comes down, he cuts one of his better Brock Lesnar promos. I got to be honest. He says, you know, I heard you've been talking stuff when I'm not here. I heard you call me a B. and he mentioned the fact that he had Heyman because he goes you cut a pretty good promo that's something I wasn't really good at and I was like all good he loved Oba bro I think so you talkish and then he kicked him like I said he kicked him in the thing and then let me tell you something you get kicked down there you're losing all sense so Oba was like nah F all this we gotta do this again right you kicked me in my Femmes, bro.

28:49So at quick glance, I think 24 different men have been. And I could be wrong. Think of how many superstars they've been. And that's the thing, Shane. Can I read you? Some of the greatest wrestlers of all time had been King of the Ring. The Magnificent Morocco, Harley Race. Oh yeah, it's the macho man, Randy Savage. And I'm talking to you, O'Shea Jackson. Yeah, dig it, brother. Ted DiBiase, Tito Santana, Bret Hart, not once, but two times. back to back because he had it like that. Owen Hart. Mabel. Maybe not one of the greatest of all time, but Mabel was a big man. He was the king. Stone Cold, Triple H, Ken Shamrock, Billy Gunn, Kurt Angle, Edge, Brock Lesnar, Booker T, William Regal, Sheamus, Bad News Barrett, Baron Corbin, Xavier Woods, Gunther Cody Rhodes, and now Oba Femi.

29:37Man, some of the biggest names in all of wrestling have been king of the ring. So like I said, it was just a good resume builder, but people don't want to hear that. Yeah. You know, I'm so hurt. But are you ever going to get upset to watch Brock Lesnar and Obafemi? Oh, and not just a regular match.

30:34You've never seen no buffet? You're not excited about that? No, I'm saying, like, I can't even think of Brock in a Hell in a Cell. Well, he's never lost one. Of course. That's why I can't remember. You know, the classic one with The Undertaker back in the day when Taker had the cast on, the American Badass Taker. But yeah, when he said the Hell in a Cell, I was already hyped. But now we're getting this in Hell in a Cell? Some of the greatest moments in wrestling history have occurred inside of a Hell in a Cell, and now we get to add Brock Lesnar and Obafemi to that lineage?

31:06O'Shea:I think I've only seen, like, been in the building for one Hell in a Cell. ever. That was when WrestleMania 32, Shane and Undertaker. Oh, you were there for that. Yeah, bro. I remember watching Shane climb to the top and jump off and I remember screaming, you don't have to do this. He, oh God, we got to interview Shane. But yeah, man, I'm excited. And I got to go. ESPN. I got to go. You. We got to go. Yeah, thank you. 2002 and 2015 both against the Undertaker is what it's popping up. Oh yeah so only two It may be more but these I mean I can't I'm like Brock Lesnar in Hell in a Cell is scary and now you put him in there with Oba you know his pause pause it real quick Brock Lesnar loves Oba Femi You can kind of tell He'd be smirking when he talked to and stuff like he's just like, I've been waiting for you for so long.

32:14Well, he had Roman for years and years.

32:16O'Shea:Yeah, but like, he like, I'm getting tossed around, baby. You know, like. But Roman wasn't able that. He didn't physically decimate. No. Rock was always like the towering, you know, thing. And Roman was always kind of trying to just survive. Yeah. Just survive. Speaking of Roman, can I speak of Roman real quick? Please do. You know, I'm on this car tip. The other day I got myself an Edmonton Eskimos Joe and Hawaii card that I bought. You see it? You see it? Respect to the tribal chief, Joe and Hawaii, defensive lineman. My man looks like he's about three bills small change there too. You know what I'm saying?

32:56Just a random thing that I wanted to show everybody. Here we got that.

33:00O'Shea:Let me just put it out there in the universe because you know WWE, they got that tie in with Mitchell and Ness. that might be a jersey is net is mandatory bro are you kidding honestly i would have a lesnar viking on mitchell and that i'd have the anawaii also they both wore 69 because he was also in uh camp with uh the vikings disgusting yeah uh tom pelissero uh of the espn and it would be nfl network good friend of ours here at the rich eisen show he was hosting last week and he told the story about when Brock was trying out for the Vikings and he got into a, he started a brawl between the Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs.

33:41Oh yeah, I saw you! Yeah, and Tom actually sent me some grainy footage. He filmed it off a flip phone. So he had footage of it on his phone and he sent it to me. Yeah, but he said Brock suplexed somebody. It wasn't a suplex. It literally was more like a Canadian destroyer, if you can believe Brock Lesnar doing that. But he set off a whole training camp fight. So She won't get on any other.

34:04O'Shea:I'm really liking this jersey idea. Can you imagine a Braun Breaker Ravens? Yes. Can you imagine a Last Legends WNBA? Listen, everyone who's been involved or affiliated with a sport should have their jersey. Oh, Mitchell and Ness. Mitchell and Ness. Little WWE tie in right there. That'd be hard. You want that Jade Cargill Jacksonville University jersey? We got you. Bro, I want that Dwayne Johnson Miami Hurricanes. Come on. And act like you know. Oh, my goodness. As a Florida State fan, I don't think I could ever wear a Miami jersey, but I consider that. You know, if – Dion? No, that's Florida State.

34:44Yeah, that's why. Yo, he was the reason. Yeah. You know, again, I grew up in Pennsylvania. Yeah. My whole life liked Penn State because we were 40 minutes away. Then a friend of mine, his older brothers left for – they graduated college. They moved out. They had an extra Pitt season ticket. They start taking me to Pitt games. I thought I didn't like Pitt. Right. Then you start going to watch a team play every Saturday for a few years, and you can't dislike them. So, yeah, I was Penn State Pitt, and then one day I saw Sports Illustrated with Deion Sanders on the cover. I was like, who is this guy?

35:20He became my favorite athlete. I start loving Florida State.

35:23O'Shea:Yeah, I knew it. I was like, all right, let's see. Why would T.J. pick Florida State? Because you know there's always a reason. Yep. So I was like, Deion, 100%. I agree. there's no argument there. And he told, by the way, there's a story in that magazine about him almost getting arrested at a mall. And one day when he was guest hosting the show, he gave me the backstory of what really happened. I was like, wow. You spoke about being there and you're not really a fan of the team, but you've been to a lot of home games, so you started really rocking with Pitt. By the way, shout out Aaron Donald.

35:56O'Shea:That's the only person from Pitt I know. Larry Fitzgerald. Oh my god. We got a little bit of a squad then. There's a lot. But my little brother Sharif, okay? Now, Los Angeles didn't have a football team for most of his life. So my household, we kind of all had our respected teams that we liked to root for. I was a Raider and then I saw the light and was a Chargers fan for a while. My dad and my brother Darryl were Raiders fans, even though Daryl really liked the Steelers as well. My mom loved Pete Carroll, so she was with the Seahawks. My little brother is a Baltimore Ravens fan. Okay. You told me that, right?

36:39O'Shea:And when my dad was filming XXX State of the Union, we had to stay in Baltimore. Okay. As a family, we lived out there for months. and his first football game ever was Ravens versus Steelers in Baltimore. When he saw Ray Lewis come out and fire shoot into the sky. That was it. He was like, oh, this is my squad. So just like that home environment, and he fell in love immediately. That same game, me and my brother are happy because, like, me and my older brother Daryl, we got the binoculars and we're like, we see Cordell Stewart. And we're like, oh my God, it's Cordell Stewart. But he wasn't even starting that game.

37:26O'Shea:You know, the quarterback gets hurt and they bring in some guy. Was it Tony Maddox? Roethlisberger? Yeah, that guy. Roethlisberger. Yeah. And boy, he goes off that season. Yeah, so that was, Sharif was there for. They were 14-2 that year. Yeah. Sharif was there for Ben's first game. Oh, word. And like, yeah, he was a raven ever since. And he didn't think about going for the Steelers? Hell no. Ray Lewis came out in Baltimore. In Baltimore doing that. Fire shooting to the sky as a little kid. He's like, this is the greatest thing I've ever seen. Speaking of Ray Lewis, I love how we just have these side quests when we talk.

38:04Because we're just here chopping up. We ain't got a guess. Y 'all the homies. Y 'all with us. A couple years ago, Ray Lewis came into the Rich Eisen show. I may have told this before. I don't know. as he's leaving Stone Cold Steve Austin is coming in and I've got a picture, I'll send this to D-Lo I got a picture of Ray Lewis and Stone Cold right here in the back doing the you know the Schwarzenegger oh yeah Carl Weathers hand thing right in the back Lewis going leaving, Stone Cold coming and I was like yo that is, where else can you find Stone Cold and Ray Lewis I might be the only person on earth who's got a picture of that.

38:44That's hard.

38:46O'Shea:Man, I got a picture of the first time my dad met Gruden. Oh, word? I didn't know they never met. We're doing straight out of content promo. We're on the ESPN campus. When my dad saw John Gruden walking to him, the smile that he had, ear to ear. Your pop's ice cube. Yeah. Famous for the scowl. He was so happy. And, like, they saw each other. It's probably about 40 yards in between them. They started the handshake from there. They had their hands ready. And, like, man, it was like, finally, you know? So, yeah, I feel that. It's a powerful picture. Maybe I'll put it out one day, but I am a selfish individual.

39:31All right, so I guess we'll get back on the direction. But, you know, this just proves, man, when people listen to us, you know, we can talk anything. Yeah, exactly. We can talk anything. But, yeah, so Obafemi. Brock Lesnar, Hell in a Cell, SummerSlam. I can't wait. I can't wait. Night one or night two, it doesn't matter. And I get it. I get it if you're someone who's sitting there going, well, what was, like, the Cardi B, we'll put it in here. What was the reason?

39:56O'Shea:What was the reason? What was the reason? Yeah. I get it. And if you're going to get hung up on that, there's nothing I can tell you. But one thing we learned from John Cena, okay, in the three hours we sat with him, the wrestling business is all about the pivot you gotta be able to pivot alright for whatever reason you brought it up earlier business wise cause we know from Cena the data is something they look at a lot yeah all of that they decided to pivot you gotta go with it so you can sit there and just be mad about the fact that well why did we do this because we didn't get what we wanted or you can be like yo we're getting Obafemi and Brock Lesnar in hell in a cell dog It's about to hit like crack in the 80s.

40:40Pookie. Pookie. Man. Oh, God. Black spoons everywhere. So that we have the king of the ring. But now it's time to turn to the queen. Yes. EO. Queen EO Sky. She is now reigning. EO, EO, EO, EO. Yeah, man. Yeah, EO, EO defeated Liv Morgan. She is now the queen of the ring. And she didn't waste no time in putting her challenge out. You know she wasn't going to challenge her bestie, Rhea Ripley. You didn't know where she is. Yeah, she said, Liv, I'll see you at SummerSlam. So we're going to get Liv Morgan against EO Sky at SummerSlam. And look at her. She's just, I love her.

41:20O'Shea:Man. I love EO. She can borrow my car. She can have mine. I'll walk. Noruku, I'm sorry, bro. I don't mean no disrespect. I don't mean no disrespect, sir. All respect. I saw you spit mist in my guy Tony D's face. Red mist. Red mist is the death mist, by the way. That is the, or is it the black mist? You know them blacks is aggressive. You don't want to get misted, period. So I don't want no problems with him. But, you know, we're fans of his wife. Yeah. It goes without saying. So now we know we're going to get her and Liv Morgan. And like you said, are we really going to get this match after we just saw it?

41:59Yeah, we are. Are you going to complain about it? No. Not really. it would have been cool to maybe see one of the Raquel get her shot and then because they've been teasing this Judgment Day breakup for a while and I guess that's just going to continue to go on but yeah live in the EO and then on Monday night they jumped EO I am like and you can understand how I felt you know because the hard R's are in there you know how I feel about the hard R's no I'm a Liv Morgan fan but you know I love EO so I had a hard time watching this beat down Shay

42:32O'Shea:Yeah, it did not feel in the crowd was chanting, Rhea, Rhea. I was like, guys, it's definitely not going to happen. It's wrong. Did you see Rhea's tweet? Yeah. She called them a word that I'm not going to say here. Right. On no context, but she tweeted out a word that is, I will just say, usually associated with women. Yeah, you know. And she called them that for jumping in. Yeah, the favorite food of vegetarians. See? I said nothing wrong anyway but yeah it did not feel good the numbers game is always going to be in Liv's favor but Io has the power of the cosmos because the most dangerous man in professional wrestling still has Liv cursed when she struck him she's that man she she slapped the face off his lips right you know what i mean like the face off his lips it just looked like the dairy queen lips or that lady from uh the warriors you know the lady on the radio station the radio station yeah man it was uh listen up it was signed still delivered after that you hit dan house yeah but and then it's kind of like you're watching it and it's like they're they're really trying to push dan housing obviously and the curse thing so it's like well obviously she's if he cursed her obviously they're going to make juice so it's kind of like but i mean i did not think she was gonna listen up boppers but i didn't think live was gonna win anyway so that's why i didn't have a problem with it because like we don't know number one we know that ria is recovering but like k-3 we don't know where ria is we haven't been showing or anything and you're gonna really make the ah but i guess it wouldn't be a winner takes all because live can challenge for your title you're not challenging for live's title so ria would have just won i guess and then been over that's it yeah but yeah there was no world where i thought live was gonna get queen of the ring so i didn't i didn't mind her having to deal with Dan Housen and the way that that happened and all that, but the Judgment Day as a whole is playing with fire.

44:53O'Shea:Kayfabe wise. You're breaking to this man's cave of wonders. You steal his jersey. You're threatening him. Have you not been watching the show? Like, this dude is not to be messed with. He did steal 100 lards from our boy, though, Dirty Dom. Did they specifically say what those human monies were for? All right. When you deal with the underworld, sometimes shady stuff happens. And I don't know where Dan Housen is from, but he's very good at being very evil. Very nice. Come on now. Very nice. Very nice. Yeah, Liv is done for. Unless she gives him an album or whatever his demands are. So you think this curse is going to last?

45:41Look at The Miz.

45:43O'Shea:He cursed The Miz? The city of Cleveland gave me Miles Garrett. That's not in the script. The Cavs got swept. Like, we're dealing with things we don't understand or comprehend. So I'm just saying there's no statute of limitations on a curse. No. I'm worried for the state and city of New Jersey. It's wild right now. All right. Gianna Daddio is in trouble. Trouble, bro. God loves kayfabe. and he will add to it any chance he gets. So, yeah, so we got that match. So there's two matches that we have so far before we get to a really good match. Yeah, we even got to that part. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, so we had the king and the queen of the ring fine with both champions.

46:30I think, you know, we both predicted that those would be the champions. Steel cage match Seth Rollins over Braun Breaker. That was a banger. I was surprised. You shouldn't be surprised. We shouldn't be surprised. Seth Rollins, one of the best wrestlers of all time. I think that's an issue. Braun Breaker, one of the, if the WWE had their four pillars the way he does right now, you'd have to say Braun is one of their pillars, one of their future main event stars. They put it out there. You know, Seth got to the ring, and he's throwing everything into that cage before he even gets in. Kendo sticks, tables, chairs.

47:09He and Braun went at it. They banged it out, and it took a super stomp from the second rope for Seth to put Braun Breaker away, man. Because we know where Seth went after this, I guess I understand why he gets the win.

47:25O'Shea:Seth Rollins, anytime he wins, you should not be surprised. But the reason why I'm surprised is because I felt like Breaker really needed it. and think about throughout the history of wrestling how many times someone needed something in the vet always won't. What it's feeling like is okay okay okay Braun Breaker is Gabby Douglas Gabby Douglas I know exactly dude that is wow because I know I shouldn't write that I know what you're going to say Go ahead So continue Braun Brigger is Gabby Douglas Like Gabby Douglas You know what stop I'm going to write a name down Alright I'm going to write this down We haven't talked about this No

48:23O'Shea:Alright continue Alright alright Sorry to the guy God I hope it's right now It better be right Yeah so Braun is Gabby Douglas Like, Gabby Douglas came in, like, won the gold on the Wheaties box. Had the reality show. Yeah, like, all of black people, just all of America was behind her. She's the greatest thing that happened to gymnastics. Is that Simone Biles?

48:53I just knew. Oh, the Femmy and Simone Biles.

49:00and I hate that I mean as soon as you said that I knew where you were going with it and it just feels like that this dude came and took the chain I've been watching a lot of Game of Thrones clips lately because it's all on my algorithm and it's catching me up with things I forgot the usurper usurping ass but it's still Brun Braun's still going to have his time to shine. Gabby Douglas should be applauded in every room she wants in. I just saw a picture of Gabby Douglas playing tennis the other day.

49:34O'Shea:Yeah. Hamburger? Hamburger. Hamburger. Hamburger. Hashtag hamburger. Yeah, it's like, man, and it's such a weird feeling, but that's why the worst thing to happen to you in this business is getting hurt. Yeah. Getting hurt. It derails you, dog. It derails everything. Now we can't change this story because, like, bro, we got it already set. And, man, it just, everything that's happening for Oba, I just saw Breaker going in that direction. And it, I mean, dude, it's super young. Super young. It's not like Braun Breaker's gone anywhere. His time is still coming. But, like, yeah, dude, it's just a weird feeling for the character right now.

50:23O'Shea:The guy, great dude, is going to be there, has everything that you see. He's going to be a world champion. In a world champion. Everything. The lineage, the attitude, the aura, everything that is world championship. But it's a little derailed right now. It's a weird space for him. It was a weird space for Seth, honestly, too, because of him. Gabby, too. you know you guys get what i'm saying there's no disrespect of that analogy no no but like you you feel me you know and he too he's gabby and uh right now simone is killing it yeah yeah king of the ring small balls king of the ring so what else do we have so yeah but great great still cage match and by the way for everyone watching us uh tomorrow thursday july the 2nd seth Rollins will be guest hosting the Rich Eisen show.

51:18I'll be here with Seth and we'll be chopping it up. That's my guy, Colby. We'll talk about SummerSlam and everything else. If you're a Seth Rollins fan, if you're a no contest fan, I just want to let you know tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd, Seth Rollins will be guest hosting the Rich Eisen show. Check us out on Disney+. Or listen to us on a variety of radio stations, which I don't have in front of me, but it's a lot. ESPN radio. For sure. And to finish the card, Trick Willie, he defeated Ricky Saints to retain the Men's United States Championship. Of course, the pops that Trick Williams get, they're worldwide.

51:58He's international. He's Trick Willie. Tiffany Stratton defeated Jay Cargill to retain the Women's United States Championship with a little bit of help from Chelsea Green, even though B-Fab and Meechan did jump in as well. But, again, fully covered from head to toe. So that's not how you want to see Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill. Respectfully. Respectfully. Okay. And then the main event, as we already touched on, Sammy defeating Gunther and Cody to become the new champion. So, yeah, that was a fairly decent Night of Champions card. I had a good time watching it. It was probably the most fun I've had watching a Night of Champions, honestly.

52:35And then, you know, we can cut through it all. We already talked about Raw happening with the Judgment Day jumping EO. I mean, I know EO's got friends. No one came out to help her. I mean, no Rhea, no Asuka, no Kyrie. Yeah, that's true. That's true. But like I said, it's hard because I ain't never going to get mad at Roxanne. Yeah. Roxanne, Roxanne. Also, Liv said, when the last time you seen Stephanie McKeer? Yeah, that's the other thing. I and A. Hold on. Miles Bourne, I mean this respectfully. I miss Stephanie. Who cares? I'm going to start filing complaints.

53:15O'Shea:I need the men over at WWE to get a box, get all your shit, and get it together. Because I'm mad at Montez. I'm mad at Jimmy. And Miles? What did Miles do? I don't know. She's hurt. listen man come on man don't start that bro all this hurt shit I never know send that home Netflix and chilling next thing you know I'm tired of this I'm scared of everything in AEW we ain't seen Tony Storm in a while kind of makes you wonder juice why'd you do it anyway yeah so we do miss Stephanie And hopefully her return is soon because the vision misses her, man. And Io needs some backup. She can't be getting no.

54:14Even though I like the three, I don't like seeing Io get a three-on-one beatdown. I ain't with that. No. It ain't right. It ain't right.

54:23O'Shea:And, you know, this would be a kind of perfect time in between now and SummerSlam for maybe Raquel and Roxanne feel like, you know what? Liv, you got this, right? You the end-all be-all. The greatest women's champion of all time. Of all time, right? Hear that? For your ear gate? Yeah, so like maybe that is where we're headed to. But yeah, can't have EO getting jumped. Hurting her knee? I don't like that. She needs her knee. I don't like that. For knee stuff. but and but you know let's just keep it g real like we do the biggest thing that happened i was a little bit behind on monday when i texted i called shay and then you made i said to you i'm a little bit behind and you were like well listen yeah get off the phone yeah i don't want you to hear text me when you know yeah because when you call they were doing oh see i didn't and you were like i want you to hear and i didn't know what you said but all of a sudden here comes the tribal chief my your our tribal chief right there and he's in there with jacob and they're cutting a promo and then seth ron's music hits and he comes to the ring and like i'm not i try not to be a prisoner of the moment right i try not to say like well that was the greatest match i've ever seen right after it happens or the greatest ple or that was the greatest promo right i try not to do that because, for one, I've seen way too many matches and heard way too many promos.

56:00But I got to be honest, man. This has got to be, and I heard some other people not locking it. You said Meltzer didn't like it. You lunatic. This got to be one of the top 10 Seth Rollins promos of all time. And he basically looked at Roman and was like, my brother, we are closer to the end than we are to the beginning. And that kind of hit me. Yeah. That hits you because he's right. Are we 14 years from now? Like, what is this? Are we still going to be Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns? No. 14 years from now, those two gentlemen will be doing other things. He had a point. Had a point. If not now, then when?

56:43And we thought this was a WrestleMania match. And who knows? It still probably could be. But we find out. And like I said, if you haven't seen Seth's promo, go watch it. It was great. he basically told Roman like we're connected forever essentially and you have to beat me to really

57:03O'Shea:solidify your legacy yeah because you don't want the ghost of Seth Rollins to follow you when your career is all said and done and he's absolutely right as a Roman Reigns fan and I was a Roman Reigns fan before he was chief back when he was getting booed with blue contacts in his eyes uh i've always felt like i've always felt like seth is triple h's boy that's his guy roman is vince's dude this is just always been in my head and like that's why he's never gotten over seth like seth always figures out a way to like get roman even when he was at the height of his powers he is the only loss during that reign it is a dq loss but still it's it's it's on there it's on the shirt like right there some people got other people's number you know yeah and as a roman fan part of me is like you know there's a world where he loses at summer slam and then wins at a mania but then there's also the part of me that's like let him get his ass let him get him and oba and roman will figure that out at mania but like also side note just you know uh a little inside my mind i don't think uh i don't i think roman gets a year with the title and then i think that's it.

58:36O'Shea:I feel like this is just one more last hurrah. He's elevated that title and everything, but that's just where my mind goes as a fan. But I need this one. I need this one because it's the only thing he's missing. I personally, two of my favorite wrestlers. Okay. That group changed wrestling. one of them as you know Moxie he's doing his thing and he's helping carry AEW he's helping carry a company these two are helping carry WWE and it's kind of amazing who was it who really was the person who said you you and you we know that Roman wasn't the first choice for the shield I think management was like we'll put him together but someone had to have a vision.

59:35And then someone had to allow these three kids to come up from NXT and dominate the main roster in the way that they did. They changed the game. They come out and they triple powerbomb Ryback through a table. Remember they're all the black turtlenecks. In Kayfabe, we know who it was. Best in the world. CM Punk. In reality, was it him? Maybe so. Who knows? But the point being, These, and I said this before, and people brought up Evolution, and that's true, but I said I feel the Shield might be the greatest faction of all time. I'll take them. When you break it all down. And if you're going to tell me Evolution, won't argue with you.

1:00:17Don't tell me the Forestman, I'm not going to argue with you. Tell me DX, I'd probably argue that with you. But in terms of fun, nobody had more fun than DX. No, of course not. It was the 90s, bro.

1:00:36Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, they go together, man. Like chocolate and peanut butter, like pepperoni and pizza. You know, just any two combinations that you can put together. Lamb and tuna fish. I don't know about that.

1:00:48O'Shea:Okay. But it just, that promo got me, man. That hit me because it felt real. It felt like two legitimate brothers. and we've all seen the videos of those guys taking road trips together years ago. You know that deep down, even if they don't hang out all the time, like for me, for instance, my two best friends, married with kids, very successful actors, businessmen, we don't hang out the way we used to hang out. It just doesn't happen. But the thing is, the love is always there and that history is always there. And so I kind of feel that way with those two. Like, those two together is special, and it should be treated as such.

1:01:33And when that happened, I text you immediately. And I was like, we're going to Minnesota. We're there. I don't care what I got to do. I'm going to tell Seth this tomorrow. Let me ride on the bus with you if I have to. We might as well start walking now. But I, you, we got to be in the building to watch Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam because, like Seth says, chances are we ain't going to see this too many more times, man.

1:02:04O'Shea:And I know the competitive side of Seth is like, this dude got a five-star with CM Punk. He got a five-star with Punk. We need a five-star. Yeah, so there's that side of him. but as far as the brotherhood that you talk about, one of the heaviest moments in the history of the WWE when Roman Reigns came out, brand new, spanking new universal champion. Cherry Red. And by the way, the Red Belt was cursed. I stand by that. You might be right. And he comes out as Joe. Yeah. I have that recording to this day. I can pull it up on my phone right now. When Seth and Ambrose came out, or Mox, you know, when they came out, Seth was boo-hooing.

1:02:57O'Shea:Balling. Crying. Like, tears. Real tears. When you have that connection with somebody like that, no matter what they do, man, you still worry about them. Yeah. They still in the back of your head. I got two best friends that I used to have that, like, we had a falling out like for real falling out and to this day I'm still like I wonder if they alright you know it's just something there and so you know kayfabe you can believe what you want but behind the scenes they really are like they're still brothers yeah for sure made a lot of money together man bought each other houses yeah come on dog and And, you know, there's comparisons.

1:03:46O'Shea:Like, this is generations rocking Austin. Just one, one, and a history. Oh, my God. Stop. My way? Come on, bro. Come on. But Seth, you know, Roman not being able to get over the hump with Seth. I can only think of, I think the Rock's beaten Austin maybe four or five times. Like, Austin was cleaning house with Rock. Probably won 95 % of the match. Again, you know this is no contest match. Yeah, right. That's a TJ Jefferson number right there. Real math. But yeah. One and two against him at WrestleMania. Yeah, dude. So this might not be the end-all be-all, but we're about to sell it like it is. And we will be in attendance.

1:04:34O'Shea:I'm going. I don't care if I got to stand outside. I'm not going to say my plug, but we know who it is. You're right. We know who it is. The San Francisco treat. Yeah, bro. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. A little insider there. Yeah, but yeah, so that's where we're at for United Champions and SummerSlam, man. I'm pumped. Me too. Can't you see me? But again, there was such a great weekend for wrestling. And we got, you know, as fans, we got to touch on the rest of this. You know, we had AJ Francis last week on the pod. and you know by the way if you look at our Instagram I made sure we put up the video about wrestlers wrestling and let me tell you AJ Francis struck a nerve with people who probably don't need to have a nerve struck but the amount of people trying to see some panties boy coming at him and like and he's going back at him in the comments a little bit which I love I just saw one about an hour ago like he really touched the nerve for some reason Why are y 'all so protective over these draws?

1:05:40But what he said was true. It wasn't the message. It was the messenger. And I feel a lot of you people, you have this idea of A.J. Francis from him and that dive over the top rope that didn't work. But the man is so much more than just that dive, right? The man has accomplished so much more in TNA, gotten himself in such amazing physical shape. And one thing he told us from the very first interview we did, I don't know if you remember, that time when that flop happened he didn't realize he was diabetic yeah and that was something that led him to getting checked out which now he got a hold of the diabetes he i'm sure he's doing better change his diet change whatever but a lot of people don't know that unless you watched and i'm not giving out it's not a hipaa violation he actually told us so i I think a lot of people, they have that stuck in their mind to him.

1:06:34You got to go watch some more A.J. Francis. The dude has improved tremendously, gotten in some tremendous shape. Yeah, amazing. The gun show. And also people that go, oh, I dare you to go to so-and-so and tell them that. I dare you to say that. Yeah, you saw me get at that dude. I was like, I dare you to say that in front of Randy. Also, do you realize that A.J. Francis is a 6 '6", 300-pound man, former offensive lineman?

1:06:59O'Shea:Oh, that was his own line. I think that if it came to a squabble, he's going to be all right. He's going to be all right. So chill out on that. But I just loved it because it touched the nerve. And if it gets more people to our social media, I'm all for it. But yeah, so Slammiversary, that was also this weekend. AJ had his match against, and like you said, he had Elijah. He owned Elijah. He owned his name, his NIL, his name, image, and likeness. Unfortunately, the match didn't go his way, and AJ lost the match. So I don't know if he can sell a match, damn it. Yes, he can. And when that dude becomes a producer down the line, and you see like, oh, this match was produced by AJ, you'll be able to tell.

1:07:44And just to give you guys a little peek behind the curtain, we actually saw AJ one of our trips to TNA. AJ saw Shay come in and within two minutes AJ had came up with this entire storyline for you that you guys kind of worked on over like an hour and went on TV two hours later and it was phenomenal. It was the one I would say about he was about to get jumped and I would have helped him but I was way across and then Mike Santana came down to help that was all from the mind of AJ Francis and that was all conjured up within moments of seeing you walk into the door.

1:08:23O'Shea:I was literally just supposed to do some announcing during one of his matches and be out. He comes up to me and it was like, they got you doing the first class match? I was like, yeah. He was like, one second. And like pieced it together. We went over, you know, like what I should come out and say on the mic. and he made that whole thing happen, like you said, an hour before shooting. I remember we were all sitting in Crafty having, eating, and it was me, you, Kareemah, Danny Luna was sitting next to him. Hey, shout out Danny Luna. And Jody Threat. We were all on the table together. Chilling. Well, you know, and he broke it down.

1:09:07And I was kind of in awe because I'm also watching Ace Austin go over his match while he was still at TNA. And I'm just like, the way these performers put this together, man. Nothing was like watching Nick Nemeth, though.

1:09:20O'Shea:Him constantly moving that, bouncing around, like keeping his legs loose while also going over an entire match. It's something that not a lot of people get the opportunity to watch. But it's truly amazing to watch and see. And speaking of Nick Nemeth in Slammiversary, we mentioned Mike Santana, TNA World Champion. He and Nick Nemeth, they had a match for the title. and Nick Nemeth for the second time is your TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Shout out. My man Mike got WWE written all over. Yeah, I feel, and we said this a few weeks ago when they let Mike Santana run with, I think it was OTM at NXT.

1:09:59The pop that Mike Santana got, I was like, oof, sorry guys, because he's probably not going to be here.

1:10:08O'Shea:Sound like Joe Hendry. Yeah, right? So yeah, so we'll see what happens with Santana, But congratulations to Nick Nemeth. He is your new TNA World's Men's World Champion. Shout out to Ziya Brookside. Yeah. Leying Lee for the TNA Knockouts World Champion. So a little bit of a youth movement there with Ziya. The Hardys, Matt and Jeff, they reclaimed the TNA World Tag Team Championship. That was amazing. And TNA International Champion, Mustafa Ali, he defeated Rich Swann in the debuting, And if you didn't know him before WWE, you didn't know Yuhai Nation, who's more commonly known to WWE fans as Apollo Crews.

1:10:51He had his debut there. And Mustafa Ali, he successfully defended his international championship. Not a Yeehaw, but a Yuhai. A Yuhai Nation. Cedric Alexander defended the X Division Championship in an Ultimate X match, which is always fun. Shout out to Amazing Red, who is getting put into the TNA Hall of Fame. And they're also going to have a new knockout, which is the women's division television championship. So that got announced. So that was all Slammiversary. Oh, and then Moose defeated Eddie Edwards in a no-surrender match. Moose's son came in. Eddie Edwards was about to pile-drive him. Moose's son hit him in the ding-ding.

1:11:34Yeah, in the ding-ding. Moose got the dub. So that was dope, man. And then, you know, we had Forbidden Door. which was always fun. And Kenny Omega defeated Zack Sabre Jr. in a tremendous match. And you know, I want to point this out. Does Zack always lose? Well, not that, but people always, Jade Cargill, for instance. People say, oh, someone can't wrestle or they're not a good wrestler. If wrestling was all that mattered, then Dean Malenko would be on more Mount Rushmore because if you really just cared about the wrestling, you know then guys like Malenko would be manage more but when it comes to wrestling Zack Sabre Jr.

1:12:18is truly one of the best in the world and Kenny Omega put on a banger you got Moxley, he defeated Bandito to retain the Continental Championship my girl Tecla you know I've been a Tecla she scares me and there's something about that I like she defeated Star like Kid, she retained the Women's Championship and stole her mask And it looks like we're going to get Tecla against the winner of the women's Owen Hart tourney, Mercedes Monet, who defeated Maya World. And so I think we're getting that and all in. Cage and Cope retain the tag team championships. And they had a circular steel cage, which you don't see much.

1:12:57Loved it. That was fantastic. Loved it. 12 men. A little Looney Tunes-y. I guess you technically have to say 13 because Lino Rush was in a hockey bag. Oh, yeah, right. That monster. He knows. He knows. Black Golem. So basically, Mark Briscoe's team won, and now Mark Briscoe gets to challenge MJF for the AEW men's tonight. So that's going to be interesting. I love Mark Briscoe. You know I love Mark Briscoe. Yeah. But there's just no way. Because. I mean, because of the Darby thing just happened. Well, not only that. Will Ospreay defeated Swerve Strickland. Oh, yeah. And probably. And you know, I said before, like, I hate to say that was the best match I've ever seen.

1:13:40Yeah. Truly one of the best wrestling matches you are going to see. Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay, kind of like Roman and Seth, sometimes you have your soulmates. Because you can go back years ago and watch those two dance and break dancing in the ring together. And then put on this bloody, violent match that truly you need to take time, if you're a wrestling fan, to try to find and watch.

1:14:05O'Shea:And part of me, with everything that Ospreay, how long it took them to set up this new Ospreay with the Death Riders, he has to get out of there with a W. And he did. He beat Swerve, so now he gets a title match. Right. That's providing MJF is able to get past Mark Briscoe tonight. But let's be honest. The bigger matches. I think we're looking at all in London, MJF defending his AEW, the Triple B, AEW World Champion against Bruv. Yeah, the Bruv versus the Bruv, if you will. And it's going to be, that match is going to be a banger, bro. It's going to be a banger. And yeah, AEW, they do pay, they're still pay PV.

1:14:53They're not PO. They do them right. You rarely feel like, and that's the other thing. They're going to give you your money's worth. That was like over five hours worth of action. Yeah, and I do want to give them credit because every time, you know, you might...

1:15:08O'Shea:The criticism I see a lot that even myself as a viewer have thought a few times is, how many times am I going to see these two go at it? And you run into that a lot in AEW. It's like, all right, this is like their fifth time fighting, their whatever time fighting. They make sure it's different every time. The only one where I was like, oh, I've seen this before. When Ospreay and Ricochet, they were basically doing a match that they had had years ago. But a lot of people didn't see that. Exactly, exactly, exactly. But that's only through research that I even knew to look at that. But when I saw Swerve and Ospreay, I was like, okay, like, these two I've seen go at it.

1:15:52O'Shea:I know where they can bring. This one was still different. They brought it. It was still different. It was still a different notch. And, you know, Swerve takes a lot of flack online. Some deserving, some not. You think, like, all right, I've seen this dude take a needle to the face. I've seen the – stop using staples on Swerve. Swerve, like, staples and Swerve is Popeye and spinach. Like, you – it don't work. He ain't moved. He loves it. He likes the iron. But you see him do all these wild things, and you're like, all right, what could be next? And there's always a next. And it just goes into respect for their creativity and their ability to even do it.

1:16:45O'Shea:So I just wanted to shout out that even if you see two names in AEW that you've seen fight before, they know they got to make it different. They know. They know, man. Yeah. So shout out to the Forbidden Door. And like I said, wherever Swerve goes next, I'm not sure. He's kind of out of the title picture now. But he's never going to be far from the title picture. You know what I mean? He's never going to be too far. I do miss the old song. I do miss the old song. That old song really played a part of getting him over. Yeah. The way it did. But he also is a music artist and wants to get new shit on.

1:17:22Yeah, so I'm not mad at that. And then lastly, you know, that just the end, the activities that we had, man, we had the Great American Bash. The Great. And here's something, you know, that if you're not really go back with wrestling, you know, WCW, NWA, the Great American Bash was like their SummerSlam. Starrcade was their WrestleMania. The Bash was kind of like a SummerSlam because it was something that carried through the summer. I remember being like 12 years old and just knowing that, like, this was an important thing. The Great American Bash, bro, it stood for something. And then once WWE won the wars, all the WCW stuff kind of got put to the side.

1:18:01And so I like what NXT is doing. They've taken kind of ownership of some of these things, like the Great American Bash, and tried to make them feel relevant. Does NXT do Stargate? I believe they do Stargate. I'm not sure. That's a money name right there. That's a money name. I'm drawing a blank right now. I don't know why. I should know this. But yeah, the Great American Bash is something that they've definitely taken a hold of and tried to restore. And I love the fact that during that, the episode, they were giving you flashbacks to the stars who have moved on from NXT and just show what they got to do while they participated in the Great American Bash.

1:18:42So I like that. My only, I guess, piece of advice would be to maybe even go further back the next time. show like you know the rick flares and the dusty roads and then nikita koloff the ivan koloffs the road wars all those battles that made the great american bash what it was made it great yeah made it great so maybe incorporate some footage of that as well but otherwise see that are you saying to make the american bash great again hey man wow hey but yeah see the shout out to the CW, they did a great job of doing that. And that would be my only piece of advice. And maybe even go further back to let people know really what this, what the bash is all about.

1:19:22But, you know, we had our guy, Tony D. Yeah. Defended that NXT championship. He defeated Noroku. And, you know, Tony was the victim of a, one of those fireballs.

1:19:33O'Shea:Yeah. So he's wrestling with one eye. All these mystic arts. No, he's got, he's got one eye wrapped. He looks like that 1776 poster with the dude who was playing the drums with his head all wrapped and bloody. but Tony D man he's a beast dog Zarya defeated Tatum Paxley to retain NXT Women's North American Championship let me tell you something Tatum Paxley and Zarya put on a banger okay again if you didn't see it do yourself a favor yo there is something Tatum Paxley I was a fan of Rosemary and TNA back in the day oh yeah you know and who else Since we ever got to meet Rosemary, Rosemary wins that TNA Knockouts TV championship.

1:20:17Absolutely. I think it might be Marisade, but I'd like to see Rosemary get a shot. But there's just something about that. It's not quite goth, is it? It's just, I don't know what it is. Her emo? Her and Shiloh Hill work so well together. I feel like they got to, and I don't mean like in a romantic sense, keep them as friends or brother and sister when they move up. But there's something that those two have that works. But, man, Zarya just— Chemistry for sure. They put on a banger. Shiloh defeated Tristan Angels. You know, I'm a big Ren Sinclair fan. Happy Ren's Day! Happy Ren's Day! She defended the Speed Championship.

1:20:56She defeated Ariana Grace, which is strange. Ariana Grace goes from TNA Knockouts World Championship champion to fighting for the Speed title. But maybe they're trying to elevate the Speed title. So, you know, our honor handles herself gracefully. Gracefully. She is a treat, by the way. Saquon Sugars defeated Dion Lennox. You know, low-key, we've been talking a little bit about Saquon over, you know, the months. That dude on the mic. That turnbuckle spot? Oh, that was great. Everything he does in the ring, but just on the mic. He's entertaining. And that alone is going to get him over. And the fact that he's money in the ring.

1:21:33So shout out to Saquon Sugars, man. you because I've watched that dude's video sometimes and just crack up. He's a funny cat. Then our guy Miles Bourne defeated another brother of ours, Tavion Heights. He became the NXT North American Championship. I feel like we talked about Roman and Seth. I think at some point Miles Bourne and Tavion Heights I'm not saying they're going to be as big as Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins but I feel like the rivalry, two brothers those two together will always, you can always put those two together and like they're gonna go hard let it go so shout out to miles and shout out to t uh and then lady angle lady angle new nxt women's champion is kendall gray defeated lola vice to win by the way lola vice easy there damian priest yeah but yeah that was that was fun and you know a few weeks ago kendall and kehlani put on a match that was amazing again if you haven't seen it check it out.

1:22:32Lola and

1:22:32O'Shea:Kendall, much like Zarya and Tatum, they put on a great match. Bro, the women's division on the main roster feels, you know, especially with Bianca not there for as long as she's been, and I mean, Liv really not defending the title at all. It feels weird. The ladies from NXT, once they get bumped up, the ones that we know right now, it is going to be, they're going to need to step it up. Yeah. Because when Kendall get up there, it's going to be a problem. It's going to be an obvious gap. You know, an obvious gap. The same way we felt when Vaqueror went up. Yep. And so, yeah, it's very. The cupboard is not bare down there, by the way.

1:23:15O'Shea:The cupboard is not bare. So it's exciting to see. I'm a fan. Everyone seems to be a fan. I don't see much negative press about the lady. No, they've got some great women down there. They've got some great women coming up. You know, you got the Kendall Grays, the Lola Vices, you know, of course, Jada Parker, Kalani, Jordan. But then you also, you know, you've got Callie Armstrong. She's going to be making her way up. And we got to give a shout out to our girl. Hold on now. We got to give a shout out. Hold on now. I know y 'all saw her. I know y 'all saw her. Nikki. Nikki Blackheart. Martinez. Yeah, it's Martinez now.

1:23:53O'Shea:Nikki Martinez now. But like, she on the big TV now. She definitely made her debut. She attacked Tatum, which makes her a heel. I don't know how I feel about her being a heel. It's because it's your friend. Yeah, that's true. I mean, we're as friendly as for someone who don't really know somebody. I'm as friendly. But, yeah, again, we had Nikki Blackheart on two weeks after that picture came on and Twitter that blew up. So, yeah, we consider her family and friends. And so it was awesome to see. you really and I mean this I'm going to say this word and it's normally people look at it negatively but obviously this isn't a negative you really got to see how big Nikki is when she was in there with Tatum because you always see Nikki I saw her in CCW yeah you've seen the pictures and stuff but I've seen Tatum against almost every woman that's come through NXT last few years so now I have a good gauge of size wise and Nikki is just a power powerhouse specimen.

1:24:59And I gotta get on the IWC because I always do. Bunch of bitches I hear. You know she picks Tatum up. Shout out to Lex Luger had a human torture rack and she started to hop which I thought was amazing because I never saw. She kind of lost her balance. Went down to a knee and power back up and people kept going oh she botched. Oh she botched. If Tatum's foot touches that ground it's ruined.

1:25:21O'Shea:She lifted her back up boy. My point being, the transitional, you stop with that and the botch. We got to stop with the botch. It wasn't a botch. You know how incredibly powerful you have to be to have another human being on your back, lose your balance. She almost literally touched the canvas. She was able to steady herself and scoop herself back up and continue. And you want to have the audacity to work your thumbs to say something about a botch? No. that's sheer power right there that's one of your future stars right there and you know what I gotta be honest I'm so glad she didn't fall yeah but because boy you look so much more powerful that you didn't let that bother you the look into the hard cam was fierce my god yeah we've been waiting for this for a while so shout out Nikki looking forward to watching your journey continue you shout out to all you know all the wrestlers man anyone who's had a match over this past weekend i salute you i thank you for putting your body on the line for our entertainment and uh we appreciate everything you do everything man and we know this episode we wanted to touch base on everything because we's not gonna be his next week yeah unfortunately yeah we're gonna have It's a vacation week.

1:26:46You know, we don't really take... No. Even New Year's week, we usually... Bro, no. We're usually here for you all the time, but we will be dark. And I mean that literally and figuratively because... Not me. Well, he's a little bit lighter. Beige. Yeah. But yeah, we're going to be dark next week, so there won't be an episode. But here's what I need you to do next Wednesday. Hit up the ESPN app, go to YouTube, and just watch an old episode. Whether it be episode one with Chick Magnet Punk or episode 92, which we are doing right now. But go through and, you know, have yourself a NCW Fest next week.

1:27:22And, you know. Yeah, bro. I mean, maybe we'll go on Instagram Live.

1:27:31O'Shea:You know, I definitely want to. We're always going to be on social media. Yeah, like, we're easy to find. We're easy to find. Like Cody. Easy to find. Hard to beat.
