In short

The episode is a mix of NFL offseason preview talk and live golf coverage from the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. The NFL segment frames “top storylines” by division: AFC East (what the Dolphins are doing), AFC North (can the Bengals stop anybody), AFC South (has Anthony Richardson played his final snap in Indy), AFC West (can Pete Carroll repeat success with Bo Nix/Chiefs/Chargers), NFC East (when does Jackson Dart start), NFC North (is JJ McCarthy’s one-game sample real), NFC South (are the Saints trying to win or for the pick), NFC West (what are the Arizona Cardinals and can Kyler keep their identity).

Key claims

Bengals must improve defense; Dolphins aren’t built to beat the Bills; Cardinals’ 12/13 personnel question is pivotal; McCarthy’s preseason sample is the only real data point.

Notable examples

Fitzpatrick’s Open form; Rory’s driving despite accuracy issues; Scotty Scheffler as heavyweight favorite; Phil Mickelson’s 103rd major cut.

Guests

Tom Pelissero (NFL Network insider), Joe Thomas (Pro Football Hall of Famer), Alan Shipnuck (longtime golf writer, reporting from Portrush).

1:13Let's do this. Let's do this. This is the Rich Eisen Show. With guest host, Andrew Siciliano. The kick is... No good! Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. I get a lot of fans, including my father. Son? Yeah, Dad. Who stopped me and said, why are you talking about the Cowboys? Because this story right here moves the needle. Earlier on the show, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. Coming up, longtime golf writer Alan Shipnock. And now, sitting in for Rich, it's Andrew Siciliano. Oh, that'll be me, Mr. Golf. I did recently, by the way. I got to get back to it.

1:58When I say back to it, I haven't sworn in a club in 20 years. I started taking a couple of golf lessons. I got one tomorrow. I'm telling you, I'm getting back in the game. I don't know if I could be like Rich and show up in Tahoe and actually play respectable golf and have a great time. But I'm trying, because you know why? Chris and Jason and TJ, I realize that I have, hello, gentlemen, again, I have missed out on 15 to 20 years of socializing, networking, and business opportunities. I really couldn't care less if I hit them straight, but I have missed out on all of that stuff because when people say, hey, you play, I'm like, nah.

2:38My clubs are in the garage. I haven't touched them in years, but you know what? Darn it, I'm taking a lesson. When you lose, I win. What is that? LeVar Ball. That's LeVar Ball from a long time ago. Okay. Yeah. It is the second round of the Open Championship. Across the pond. They're in Ireland. Royal Portrush. Brockman, you want to give me the update because my internet is slow and you actually got the screen. Yeah, sorry. Matthew Fitzpatrick, still your leader at nine under. Brian Harmon, Ha-Tung Lee, one back. Scotty Scheffler, two back. All right. Let's get an update, like a weather update.

3:15He's doing stuff at scratch. I mean, he's a legendary. golf writer alan shipnock actually joining us now from overseas alan it is great to see you sir how's the weather i'm here andrew i have to say i'm disappointed that you said that you're getting back into golf because of the networking and the business opportunities it's about like having fun with your boys that's part of it too huge oversight what are the reasons look what are the reasons people give up golf is because they're not good okay and and i i was not good i was good enough to show up and do like all the the celebrities not that i was one but like scrambles right hey it's a it's a fun corporate event media sports whatever do the scramble i was good enough to get at least one of my shots used that's all that mattered i had a couple of pops but yeah that was it i had never in my free time though ever played a round where when i made the turn i went yeah, I'm down for nine more.

4:13I was always like, now I'm good. You guys finish. Not that I quit. I was just like, hey, like if you're not any good and you don't want to take the time to work at it, it's just not fun. So I just put the clubs away for 15 years. And I decided like, what am I doing? It's the off season. Learn to play golf, you know? That's a sad story, but okay. Let's talk about the old.

4:34I'm sorry. All right. Let's talk. Let's talk Matt Fitzpatrick. Like, I mean, it's not like he's been ripping it up of late. What's going on here? Yeah, you know, he won the U.S. Open a few years ago and everyone thought he was going to be the man because he already had a reputation as playing really difficult golf courses very well because incredible short game, just a gritty, grindy player. And then he started doing speed training and he was actually pounding the ball off the tee. That was one of the keys to him winning the U.S. Open at Brookline, which is a big ballpark. And basically in the three years since he's done nothing.

5:11And this guy is incredibly fastidious. Like he's been charting every one of his shots and competitions since he was a teenager. He's obsessive. And it turned out he'd put some weights in his driver head to mostly for speed training, forgot to take them out. And he spent the whole year after the U.S. Open saying, why can't I hit a fairway? Like what's wrong with my golf game? Of all the people on tour, to make a bonehead mistake like that, he'd be the last guy you'd expect. So that actually makes me like him a little bit more. But it definitely derailed his career. He lost his confidence. He's had some nagging injuries.

5:46He got engaged to a TikTok influencer, which could be a distraction. So it looks like he's back. And he clearly still has that magical short game, some of the shots he's pulled off already in two rounds around Portrush. And if he's driving it well, he's very dangerous. How about Brian Harmon? Alan is 69 yesterday, a 65 today in these conditions. He loves him an open championship with some bad weather. Yeah, you know, Harmon felt like one of those guys who was going to win a major and that was going to be clearly the apex of their career. And he would just quietly kind of coast. But if he can get it done here, he goes into a whole different category.

6:30I mean, the list of players in this is the 153rd Open Championship. It's a very short list of guys who have won more than one. And so this would put him on a different plane as a player. And he's, you know, he's a bulldog, literally went to Georgia, but he has that mentality on the golf course. And he keeps it in play. You know, when you get the thing that's interesting about there's a lot of links courses, you know, the routing, they kind of go out and then back. And so the wind's very predictable. You know, it's coming off the right on the front nine. It's coming off the left on the back nine.

7:04But Portrush has this very circuitous routing, and the wind's always hitting you in different directions on every hole, it feels like. And you can see it get in the heads of the players. And hitting fairways is really at a premium on this golf course, more than most links, where you can spray it a little bit. You think of like St. Andrews or Royal St. George, some of these other venues. You can get away with it. But with the pot bunkers out here and the dunes, it's a steep penalty to miss on this golf course. And also, you can't really – a lot of the greens are elevated. A lot of them are crowned.

7:39It's not the kind of links where you can sort of recover by bunting one down the fairway and have it trundling all the way down to the green. It's much more exacting coming into these putting, these green complexes. And so it's massively important to be in the fairway. And when Brian Harmon is hitting fairways, you know, his iron game is so good and he's so efficient with the putter that he's going to be tough. I mean, you put him out in front and he's playing with confidence like this, it's not going to be easy to chase him down. Talking to Alan Shipnuck here at the Open Championship in Northern Ireland.

8:10You said it's a short list. It's a ridiculously short and impressive list. Men who have won the Open Championship twice. Here's the list. Arnold Palmer in 61 and 62. Lee Trevino, 71 and 72. Greg Norman, 86 and 93. Patty Harrington did it back-to-back in 07 and 08. And Ernie Ailes did it 10 years apart, 02 and in 12. Alan, the other three guys that did it were all back in the 1800s. So Brian Harmon can put himself in some fairly elite company if he could somehow pull this off. Yeah, and it's also big. you know it's a writer cup year and the teams are now starting to take shape you know we're still a couple months out but this you know the majors have extra points in how the teams are created as far as the allotment there's still a FedEx cup playoffs to go there's some big tournaments in Europe but we'll at the end of this week we'll know a lot about how the writer cup teams are shaping up and on paper right now I think Europe looks stronger so a Brian Harmon victory here becomes a big deal it just sort of sends a message like you know we went over to your turf we won your biggest championship uh we've got this guy in fine form who could be one of the emotional leaders and it was going to be a really tough environment at beth page so it would certainly resonate same thing though goes for you know matt fitzpatrick he he was probably borderline to make the writer cup team a big performance here cements his spot and gives Europe, you know, more firepower.

9:43So that's an underlying issue. You want to win the Open Championship, but certainly this as we're only really two months away from the Ryder Cup now, this is a big audition for a lot of these players and that's an important, you know, subplot. Talking to Alan Shipnick here at the Open Championship, some other names. Harris English was great yesterday, shot a 70 today. So he's now back to five under. Rory shot a 70 and then a 69 today. He is at three under at last check. Alan, that is six off the lead. Any chance at some magic over the weekend for him? Yes, because he's been scoring well while he's driving it off the planet.

10:26We know that Rory's superpower is his driver. It's up there with Ben Crenshaw's putter. Jack Nicklaus is one iron. He's one of the all-time weapons in this sport. and, you know, Gary Player Sandwich. You can make a short list. But Rory's probably the greatest driver of the golf ball in history, and that is the strength of his game, and that sets everything up for him. And yesterday he hit two fairways. He was 150th in 156-man field in driving accuracy, and he still managed to shoot an under-par round. He was a little better today, but, you know, he still hit one off line there on number two, had to take a penalty drop.

11:04Like if he, if he can just drive it like Rory McIlroy and then keep getting the ball in the hole. I mean, there's, there's been a lot of, you know, rounds already 65, 66, like he's fully capable of doing that. You know, he shot 61 on this golf course when he was 16, even in 2019, after his horrendous first round, he shot a 65 to almost make the cut. Like Rory knows he can go deep here. But tomorrow is massively important. You just can't give. I mean, you mentioned Harmon, of course, and Fitzpatrick, but there's also Scotty Scheffler. You cannot spot that guy too many strokes. I mean, he's at seven under when we started this interview.

11:42So Rory just can't give him five, six, eight strokes. It's going into Sunday. He's got to make up ground on Scotty as much as anybody else. And so tomorrow's kind of a do or die round for Rory. If he shoots something around par, he's out of the tournament. If he shoots something in the mid-60s, I mean the atmosphere is electric we saw that in 19 when when he was trying to make the cut we've seen it the last two days now you get the weekend crowds that are bigger a little boozier a little more working class he's he's clearly the the hero of Northern Ireland already and it will be an epic atmosphere if he puts himself in contention on Sunday so tomorrow becomes you know a do or die around for Rory bigger and boozier I love it I'm also looking at a video here that somebody sent me yesterday of ridiculous shot Phil made yesterday out of the bunker um tell me that that Phil can be part of I he I don't think it's gonna happen but I mean I can root for it right I mean we this room collectively can root for it right Alan oh I mean golf was way more interesting when Phil Mickelson's on the leaderboard that's not in dispute and this was the 103rd cut he's made at a major championship there's many great players who haven't even played in 103 majors He's made the cut in 103.

13:00It's the second biggest number in history behind Jack Nicklaus. I mean, Phil's longevity remains a marvel. He would be more dangerous at a really crispy open venue. Like if you think about when Tiger won in 06, and it was like at Liverpool, and it was like playing on the surface of the moon. There was no green out there at all, and the ball was racing around. Like Phil, Phil needs those conditions to compete at this point. You know, it's a testament to his, his will and his short game that he was able to make this cut, but he's given up too much firepower off the tee to these young, these young whippersnappers.

13:41And, and this, this golf course is probably not firm enough. If you put it, if you turn it into a short game contest, Phil is still as good as anybody through the bag, you know, he's given up a little too much, but just for him to make the cut is tremendous. And, you can never count this guy out I mean he could fall out of bed tomorrow and shoot a 64 and he's right there and it would be madness but I think that's probably a bridge too far for a guy who's in his mid to late 50s. Look at that shot eternal Phil just amazing Alan Shipnuck working with Scratchdown by the way it's with the K at S-K-R-A-T-C-H you can find him obviously on the socials at Alan Shipnuck we appreciate the time and the insight stay dry out there alan will you please yeah it hasn't been too bad i mean actually it's strangely balmy we need the temperature to drop 20 degrees like the open is about suffering it's a little too warm there's not enough rain there's barely enough breeze to mess up my hair like we need we need this to get a little nastier on the weekend and feel like a real open oh are you looking for those action shots of you out there with with a notebook with the hair blowing is that what you're looking for i mean i feel like we're straying into your fantasy life now no no no no No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

14:55Like you just want it for the Graham, Alan. That's what I'm saying. Don't mind me. Yes, indeed. Yeah, no, I don't look good in any weather. It's for the glory of the championship. It's just more fun when the British Open, as some people still call it, is just gray and wet and everyone's having a miserable time. That's what you want. But we'll see how it goes. There's definitely some rain in the forecast. It's been pretty mild so far. Before we let you go, actually, one last thing. You mentioned gray. There's a lot of gray behind you. Did you take off? Is there any art in this hotel room? Are you living in a shipping container?

15:31What is this? Yeah. I'm sitting in Belfast, which is a wonderful town. People, it's not on the tourist radar, but it has so much soul. And actually, speaking of art, incredible murals. It's a beautiful place. But that room has no soul, Alan, is what we're trying to say. No, I'm not responsible for the decorations of my hotel room. Totally understand. totally totally get it all right uh last thing i promise uh brockman wants a winner not not because he has a gambling problem he just wants a winner well i always bet rory but who's gonna win alan it's it's just straight chalk but like i saw scott just made another birdie he's now one off the lead like he's the best player in the world tita green he's one of the best chippers and now he's turned his putter into a weapon so and he knows you can do it he's gonna to feel no pressure out there you you saw probably his press conference quotes he's like he went super miserable like he's just it's not no it's it's not that he's miserable he has the perfect work-life balance you know we talked about this with real jobs we don't really talk about with athletes but scotty is so centered with his family his his beliefs um and it frees him up and he just goes out there and plays some of the best golf we've seen since peak tiger so i mean he's he's the heavyweight favorite.

16:50I saw the betting odds. He was less than 2-1 and that was when he was still a few shots back. Now he's only one. Those guys know more than I do it feels like. You've got to take Scotty. But otherwise, also watch out for this kid, Hogard, from Denmark. He's the longest hitter in golf and the wind doesn't even touch his ball. He went deep today. He's only a few shots back. He'd be a dark horse if you need one. That'd be Rasmus Hogard. Alan, we held you too long. We appreciate you as always, man. Get back out there. Thank you, sir. Thanks for having me. See you. Alan Shipnock, everybody, from scratch.

17:26Love it. Love it. Appreciate you. Rasmus Hogard. Rasmus. 69-68. Nice. He is at 5-under. Update the leaderboard, please, because you're ahead of me. Brockman? Yeah. Matt Fitzpatrick, still your leader at 9-under. Scotty Scheffler, Brian Harmon, Howtong Lee, one back. Okay. And yeah, that is a sad story that I wanted to get back to golf. But like, I want to play. Like, yes, I want to play with my friends as well. In all seriousness, there have been, forget about business and networking, there have been so many times over the years where it's been like, hey, man, you're like, do you play? I need one.

18:00I need one. Can you come out here and play? I don't know. Like, my clubs are so old and gathering dust in the garage. When I, for the first lesson, went to get them, like, and you pick them up, like the grips all like deteriorated in my hand. You know what I'm saying? The rubber deteriorated, disintegrated in my hands. Like that's how bad they are. It's pretty bad. Yeah, that's pretty bad. I could sell them at an antique store. Coming up next, Chris Brockman with What's More Likely on The Rich Heisen Show. It's Saturday. Kickoff's getting close and your weekend project just hit a wall. Right up here above me is a brand new Rich Eisen Show sign. A new Rich Eisen Show sign. Am I going to do it now? You can see this. Yeah, here we go. Let's do it. Here we go. This is going to be fun. Just hope it doesn't come down in your head. What are the odds that he messes this up? because the way it's set up. Put down the microphone, dude. I can't. This is the worst reveal ever. Keep pulling, Deltooth. Just put the microphone down. This is good, Rich.

20:49This is good. He's going to break down the whole thing. Yes. Pull both of the cords, you... No, we cannot have this as the reveal. He does audio. This cannot be the reveal. He does audio. He does not do manual labor. It's the way it's messed up up there. I can't. Look, I can't. We called this. Walk up the stairs. Walk up the stairs, Del Tufo. Yeah, okay. The not reveal. He's going to walk up the stairs. Oh, no, I can't. Because I can't climb to where that is. Yeah, you can. Except for the story. No, you can't. You got to have a cable. You guys don't know OSHA rules. See, they screwed me. They did this on purpose.

21:26I'm convinced. Yeah, it's against you, Mike. I'm telling you. Del Tufo, just tell everyone out there you don't have any change for them. Just pull it. Give them good jersey pull. Put them on. Yeah, there you go. Watch. Put the microphone down and pull it. Pull the other one. You're a big man. Yank it. Yank it. Oh, jeez.

21:50By the way, this is way better than this guy. This is so much better. All right, come back in here and screw off the audio now, Mike.

22:04Oh, my. Del Tufo claims that it was somehow rigged against him. No, he just couldn't do it. Mike Del Tufo taking a Friday off. Shocking. This is my day now. Shocking. It's the Rich Heisen Show, everybody. I'm Andrew. Hi. Hi, Andrew. I texted Bronkman last night before I went to see the Superman movie. I'm like, hey, looking forward to tomorrow. Everyone in. I know Don's producing and RJ's directing, but everyone else, same crew, normal crew. and that was like a like that was my subtle way of saying is del tufo showing up but i'm sure i will see him i'm sure i will see him on the strand meaning the beaches here in southern california where i will be on a run or maybe i'll be on a phone call like to take my calls you know posting some vitamin d or maybe i'll be doing one of my silly aaron rogers walk talks, but inevitably, always run into two people.

23:06The great head coach of the University of Southern California men's basketball team, friend of the program, and friend, Eric Musselman. He must. And Mike Del Tuvo. On his electric bike. He's just like not pedaling. The mayor of Hermosa. Mayor of Hermosa. Absolutely. But he lives in Redondo. But he's always in Hermosa. I mean, they're one block away from each other. It's pretty close. Yeah, whatever. So I did see the Superman movie. It is. It's good. It's fine. It's like, I think it's well done. I think it's well done. I really sold it there. Right. No, no, no. Here's the deal. It's a well done movie.

23:45Like the guy who plays Superman. I forget the name. The guy or the woman rather plays Lois Lane. Okay. They, I thought it was well done. Truly well done. The dog's adorable. Like it's the dog's a big part of the story. It's, it's a well done movie. and a lot of it a shot in Cleveland, like that final shot in the arcade, some other shots throughout the film. If you know, you know. I wanted to see it. I enjoyed it. That said, I don't really go to comic book movies. I love me the Batman films, right? They're kind of dark. They're different. They don't feel like comic book movies. I know that sounds absurd.

24:18It's about a man in a rubber suit that fights crime. It's a comic book movie, but generally speaking, I've never seen an Avenger film. I just don't see any of them. They do nothing for me. I don't know the difference between DC or Marvel or whatever. I don't know but I wanted to see this at about 20 minutes into it I'm like I forgot it's a comic book movie eh this is corny but then by the end you're like alright I'm back they did a really good job so if that's your thing definitely go see it definitely like it was good but like last night was a it's the day after the all star like it's during the all star break there ain't anything to watch nothing like I could start a new show.

24:58I finished quarterback when I got home. Quarterback is amazing. Netflix, NFL films, like they do an amazing show. We watched Rookie of the Year last night. The movie. The movie. You and Cage? Yeah. Okay. Sarah, we watched it. It was great. First time for Cage. Henry, we loved it. Great. Rosenbagger. Love it. Henry Rowan. Love it. So last night I decided, like I worked out of my early dinner. I'm like, you know, I don't want to go see a movie. So when saw it and I liked it, it was good. you know don't need to go see another comic book movie but it was good go see it f1 i saw two weeks oh i need to see that's fantastic i need to go see that one that is amazing that is make sure you sit in the center of the theater and get all the sound and all that good it is as loud a movie as you will sit in i don't remember a louder movie it is not only with the hans zimmer soundtrack and the score and race cars.

25:54Race cars are loud. It's just in. Absolutely worth seeing. And that's my movie review. I will not clearly be doing this for a living. She's saying it's louder than a quiet place. Is that what you're trying to? Yes. I see what you did there. Well done. And RJ is blowing me up during the movie. RJ is directing today going, Tupac or Biggie? What? Yeah, I swear. Tupac or Biggie? And I'm like, about what? It's Thursday, July 17th, 2025 at 8 o 'clock Pacific. What led you to ask me Tupac or Biggie right now? And I answered, honestly, this is an odd answer. Neither. I love them both. I get them both.

26:39But rap, like love of hip hop is not a binary choice. Like people always boil it down. Tupac or Biggie? I'm like, I sure like them both. Neither is my favorite. Is that okay? See, here's what I need you to do right now, because if someone's just tuning in and they heard you say that, they're probably thinking, oh, Andrew doesn't like rap. So we got to let them know that is not the case. My tastes are quite old. I don't like a lot of today's stuff because I'm a grumpy old man. But then RJ asked, well, then who do you like? I'm like, I'm a Tupac. I'm sorry. I'm a Q-tip fan. That's just me. Again, there's a joke.

27:16But I'm a Tribe Called Quest fan. Right? That's me. That's who I am. That's my genre. That's my age group and demographic. And that's me. Time now, however, to get away from 50-year-old white guy talking 90s hip-hop. And now, ladies and gentlemen, Chris Brockman has a game for you. What's more likely? Hit it. What? What's more likely? Never say never, but never.

27:48Hey, guys. How you doing? Happy Friday. What's up, Chris? Hey, everybody. Andrew, Tupac or Biggie? Go. Tupac or... I'd probably say Tupac. I'd probably... Get it? Yeah. Tupac? But I would... I go back to, like, his digital underground days. Oh, nice. He'd come around when I hang around with the underground. With Money B, exactly. When I get around. Yeah. Andrew, who's the more likely team to go worse to first this year? Patriots, Titans, or Raiders? Patriots Titans or Raiders my answer again would be none of the above of course but that's not the game Rich I thought Rich wasn't here today I'd actually say Raiders because I believe in Pete and I believe in Gino now one would argue that the AFC South is an injury away from being the most winnable of those divisions.

28:52Right. Right? And that when you consider Denver and the Chargers, obviously Kansas City, Denver, and the Chargers, that the AFC West is the most difficult of those divisions. I think so. However, Geno Smith is the most experienced and the best quarterback there of the three options you just gave me, even though Drake May has a very high ceiling, as does Cam Ward, about which I'm very excited to see Cam play. Same, same. But I think if you have Max Crosby and you have Geno and you have Ashton Gentry and you got me rejuvenated gum chewing Pete Carroll, I'm going to go Raiders. And that is not the choice that you thought I was going to give.

29:28It is not. I kind of thought you'd say Titans. Well, no, I didn't. I know. But I believe in Cam Ward. I'm excited to see him. TJ, what do you think? Raiders. Of course you're not Raiders. Just making nice with Jay Feli. Yeah. I was thinking about it as Andrew was giving his answer. All right, Andrew, here's a good one for your walk and talk later on the beach. Yeah, buddy. More likely to be a top 10 quarterback this year. Aaron Rodgers. Okay. Dak Prescott. Ooh, I will say Dak Prescott. Sure you're right. Yeah. I believe in Aaron Rodgers. I think he can still be a winning quarterback, but a top 10 quarterback.

30:08Look, he's not going to throw a lot of picks because he is. and look at the numbers the last couple of years and look at his time to throw and where he throws. It is a risk-averse quarterback these days. He gets the ball out quickly, takes the short stuff, or throws back shoulders. That's his game. That is what he does. He is not going to press the ball deep downfield and throw those seams and put the ball in trouble and traffic. That's not what he does. I think the biggest question for them, the Steelers, is Aaron Rodgers changing the play line all the time? Is Aaron Rodgers going, yeah, I don't like it.

30:43I'm going to throw the hot real quick, the bubble real quick. We're getting out of here real quick. And how does that line treat him? He got a lot of youth on that line, right? Zach Frazier had a nice year last year as the rookie center. He's trending up, right? Tackles. Got a question marks for me. That's just me. I think Dak is going to have a big year. Big year. Oh. Now, what does that mean come January? It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. That's the thing that matters. There's a short list of teams here for whom it does not matter. It does not matter what you do during the season. The Bills are one of those teams.

31:18Josh Allen said it out loud last year. It doesn't matter if we beat, was it the Chiefs, the Bengals, whomever during the year, right now, September, October, it doesn't matter. It matters if we get them in January, right? Josh knows that. The Bills know that. The Cowboys know that. The Steelers know that as well. But if you're talking on a pure statistical level, okay, we're talking stats, Dak Prescott has a better chance of being a top 10 quarterback this year than Aaron Rodgers. I like it. I know you like that, TJ. I love that, Chris. No, TJ, disagree for the heck of it. Let's do it. I disagree, Andrew.

31:48I believe he's going to be a top two quarterback. Oh, whoa. Chill, chill, chill. I don't want to hear it from nobody. Relax. Who's won, then? Who's won? Frick me. I'll make you happy. My man. TJ Watt got paid. Break news. You guys heard that yesterday? So who now is the disgruntled edge rusher to have more sacks this year? Micah Parsons. Trey Hendrickson. So, Micah's going to get paid, as Tom Pellicero joined us earlier and said. Not a surprise. So, the question is, who has more sacks of these two? Yeah, these two guys. Okay. The answer is easily going to be Micah, because I think Trey Hendrickson, as Tom said, I kind of led him there, and he didn't disagree.

32:29I think there's a legit chance Trey Hendrickson will miss games this year. As Tom said, I don't think he's showing up next week. And then I think it is a legit stare down. Now, I'm not saying this is Carson Palmer 2.0, where Carson just said, yeah, I'm good. I'm staying home. Like, I'm like, what is the line in office space? I don't like my job, and I don't think I'm going to go anymore. I wouldn't say I've been missing it. You mean you're going to quit? No. The bobs? I'm just not going to go. And I think that could be Trey Hendrickson. Do you want to come over and watch Kung Fu? Yeah. Sure, why not?

33:03I take offense that you called Micah Parsons disgruntled. i saw him at fanatics fest a few weeks he's not just he's very grunt no he's not okay he's grunt he's not he's gonna get paid the question is when and i i think he'll show up at what used to be known as the residence in what is it called now i got my official list they changed it in oxnard i was surprised it just showed up here raiders raiders raiders raiders raiders uh i'm sorry cowboys what am i thinking cowboys i don't know it's now the stay bridge suites oh so they Just change the ownership. I don't know. Is that a Marriott brand? Am I?

33:38Hold on. Am I getting Bonvoy points if I'm CD Lamb? That's all I care about. Are you going up to Oxnard? He has to go to Cleveland. Hold on. When is their first... I might go up on Monday. Maybe like the 22nd. Veterans. No, I can't go up on the 22nd. I might in two weeks. That's Tuesday. Okay. We're moving on. Don's telling us to move on. Yeah, TJ, you love this. Bradley Beal now with the Clippers. Let's go. Oh, my gosh. Kevin Durant now in Houston. Devin Booker still in Phoenix. Hey, what's more likely former Suns big three to go further this year? Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker. Ooh.

34:18Remind me. I'm. I want to say Bradley Beal. Booker stayed put. Yeah. I would love to say Bradley Beal. Katie on the Rockets. Beal on the Clippers. I'm going to say Bradley Beal. God, I hope you're right. I know you hope I'm right. I'm giving you all the answers you want here today, buddy. I'm loving this today. I'm giving you Dak. I'm giving you Mike. I'm giving you Bradley Beal. I'm giving you Tribe. You know? Yeah. I like that. Is Bradley Beal the Jirobi of this group? Of these three or of the Clippers? Of those three, yeah. Or the Clippers at this point. He would not. He'd be more like Ali.

34:55Alicia Muhammad, of course, from Tribe Called Quest. All right, next. Hey, I got another classic from Yannick Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in Wimbledon. Who's more likely that you would pick to be the U.S. Open favorite? Sinner Alcaraz. I'm going to go Alcaraz. I missed all of that. I was in Japan. It was overnight. Rosenthal, Greg Rosenthal, NFL.com, who I saw the sumo with. He's Mr. Tennis. He was the one who, whatever the time zone difference was, 16 hours between L.A. and Tokyo, by the way. Greg got up and watched Wimbledon. Wimbledon with a D, not a T. I'm going to go Carlos because I'm just a fan.

35:32Yeah, period. I like when these two guys match up. It's must-watch sports TV. And last one, Andrew, for you, because you are a Cleveland sports fan, more likely Cleveland sports summer miracle. Cavs trade for LeBron or the Guardians win the Central. So they're too far back. They're not going to win the division. I do think there is a chance, although your Red Sox are red hot, that they could make a wild card push. I think they're only four and a half, five and a half back in the wild card. The guards did something amazing after losing 10 consecutive games, a couple of which I think they scored like no or one runs in like four or five of those 10.

36:10I mean, that's hard to do. They then went and swept the Astros in Houston and then took three out of four from the pathetic White Sox over the weekend. So they ended with six out of seven after losing 10 consecutive. Red Sox have a streak. others have streaks going as well. They don't have enough bats, and I don't think they're going to make a deal for a bat. So I think it's more likely I'm going to turn this around on you. They make a wild card push. Can I change it? Yeah, sure. Okay, we're going to change it. Thanks, Rich. Yep, I will change it. Although the LeBron thing would be fun. I know a lot of Cavs fans don't want it.

36:47I would be, and some do, a lot do. I would be one that's like, let's go. I mean, Yeah, why not? Yeah. Third time's a charm. Just like the second was as well. That's what's more likely. Thank you for listening. Okay. And participating. And participating. Coming up next on the Rich Eisen Show. Can Joe Thomas send us some beef? I'm so hungry. Yeah. We'll get on for it. He's good for it. Coming up next, I will give you my most. I don't know if they're under the radar. My biggest storyline for each of the eight NFL divisions heading into a brand new season.

37:47for O 'Reilly Veriscan today. Oh, oh, oh, O 'Reilly. Auto Parts.

38:01Taking a quick break to tell you how Saturday's game time can get a little messy. Your crew just came over to watch. Snacks on the table, drinks in hand, and somebody celebrating like they just won the whole season and beyond. And when that energy gets going, your walls can end up taking the hit. Whether it's a big spill or a noticeable scuff, that's where Behr Ultra Interior Paint comes in. It adds an extra durable, stain-blocking finish that helps your walls hold up for the whole season. It also delivers outstanding coverage and hide in fewer coats, with easy application and a smooth, even finish that goes on clean from the first pass.

38:35Plus, that easy, clean finish helps walls stay looking new longer. So before the next kickoff, give your space game-ready defense and coverage that goes the distance. Bear Ultra, only at the Home Depot.

38:50You told a story about the genesis of all right, all right, all right. Would you please tell that story? Here's where that comes from. So, days confused. Yes. Genius film. I'm in the right bar at the right time. And the guy goes, have you ever done any acting? You might be right, just right for this part. Legendary cast director and producer Don Phillips. And I said, yeah, I was in a Miller Lite commercial for about this long, but, you know, maybe I'm in film school at the time. And he goes, well, come to this address. You might be just right. Pick up the script. I go down. I pick up the script.

39:23There's three scenes with three lines. And one of the lines is Waterson out front of the pool hall. The girls walk by. He checks her out going by. And his buddy says, man, you got to cut that out. You're going to go to jail for that, Waterson. And Waterson steps forward and says, no, man, that's what I love about those high school girls. I get older, but they stay the same age. Legendary line. I call it a launch pad line. Like you're gonna say, unpack it. Anyone, any character who says that and believes it, we can write a book on that guy, right? So that was one of the lines. So I go work on those three lines for three weeks.

39:57I come back and they do what's called a makeup and wardrobe test. Meaning they're shooting another scene one night, I'm just gonna show up, director's gonna step off the set and come and look and go, great, I approve. Well, he comes and looks, he goes, geez, this is Wooderson, it's great. He goes, listen, you're not scheduled to work tonight, but we're over here at the top notch drive through. And you think Wooderson might want to pick up on the redheaded intellectual, Jake? And I'm like, sure. And he goes, want to shoot it? I'm like, sure. So I go get in the car. I shoot my first scene ever in a film.

40:30Of your career. Of my career. And I had been listened to a lot of 70s rock and roll at that time. And there was a certain live recording of a Jim Morrison concert in Amsterdam or somewhere where he barks at the crowd, all right, all right, all right, all right. Four times real aggressively, though. I'm not thinking about that, but this comes back. So I'm in the car, and I'm like, who's my man? I'm nervous. I'm about to hear act. Who's my man? Who's Wooderson? I said, well, I'm about my car. And I go, well, I'm in my 70 Chevelle. There's one. I said, I'm about getting high. I said, well, Slater's riding shotgun.

41:05You know, he's got a Dubois rolled up. There's two. And I said, and I'm about rock and roll. And I said, well, I got Nugent, Stranglehold, in the eight track, man. There's three, and I hear action. And I look up, and in my mind, I go, and I'm about chicks. I got three out of four. Let's go get the fourth. All right, all right, all right. Wow. That was it. So crazy confused. First words I ever said on screen. First words I ever said. And that was the three affirmations of those three things I had. There we go.

41:48I was sliding back into the chair and we're back. Collinsworth style. Collinsworth style. Not really. Not really. Jeff Passan reports that Guardians right-hander Luis Ortiz, his non-disciplinary paid leave has been extended through the end of August as MLB continues to investigate unusual gambling activity related to a pair of pitches he threw. Two pitches he threw. Really strange. Where there was heavy action. People pounded, evidently, whether or not the first pitch of an inning would be a ball or a strike. First of all, the idea that you could bet on that shows that we all collectively have a problem.

42:27Okay? I don't do that. I don't gamble, but like betting on the first pitch. But as we're back on radio and tell you the Luis Ortiz non-disciplinary, please stay away from the game thing has been extended through the end of August. Guardian's right-hander being investigated for gambling irregularities. The idea that after how many of her weeks, you can't figure out whether or not two pitches were an issue. They were both sliders away, right? Out of the zone. One really out of the zone, right? But the guy's pitched well. He's had trouble with his breaking ball. I mean, that is legitimate. He throws a lot of fastballs.

43:07They got a lot of movement. And when he's getting them up in the zone and getting movement, he's getting guys out. When he's not, he's giving up home runs. That's it. I'm not defending him. I have no idea what happened, but there have been other. You want me to go there? I'll say it like Shohei's thing went away in two seconds. Nothing to see. Not in any way implying at all saying some investigations go really quickly and others on two pitches, not like sifting through bank records and with a federal investigation behind it. Just two pitches. Yeah. Get extended. Interesting. I don't know. Interesting.

43:44I'm not in any way implying or suggesting anything. I promise you don't turn into me accusing this. You know what I'm saying? It's interesting, which is also kind of a worthless word. Had this conversation with a friend last night. What's more worthless? interesting or arguably arguably because i i will make the argument now ready that arguably is as worthless a word as there is in english because anything is arguable i can make the argument that i'm an astronaut it's a really bad argument but damn it i can make it uh matter of fact that's what we do for a living we make arguments we do right i i can make an i can make an argument that I'm an astronaut because, well, everything is staged, right?

44:32Like we never went to the moon. So I once took part. You get what I'm saying. Like anything is arguable. You can't argue you have a short sleeve shirt on today. I do have one on. Yes. Or I could argue this is a long sleeve shirt for a tiny person. Oh, right. Okay. Right. It's not a lie. If you believe it. I mean, that is a different George Casanza window into our collective modern soul. But let's not go there. Let's do something I put together because you did what's more likely. I did some of these storylines here for each of the NFL divisions because we talked about the low hanging fruit with Aaron Rodgers and the Browns quarterbacks and all of that.

45:17But let's do one for each and every NFL division. Let's begin on the AFC side. Let's begin in the AFC East where the Bills obviously are the favorite to win it yet again. back to back to back. The Bills, by the way, soon to be featured on Hard Knocks. But the headline for me in the AFC East is what are the Dolphins actually doing? I'm not suggesting they're trying to tank. They're clearly trying to cut some salary. They're clearly trying to get away or get rid of some big personalities. But are the Dolphins as currently constructed set up to win in the AFC East or any division? My answer is no.

45:52So if you're a Dolphins fan, to me, you're raising your hands and going like why am i going like what what are we doing we have a quarterback we have a running back or two and we have a play caller but is this team good enough to win offensive line yeah offensively yeah but no in that division they're not better than the bills and i don't think they're a wild card team so in the afc east my headline is what are they doing in the afc north It isn't about the Steelers. It isn't about who starts a quarterback for the Browns. My question to the AFC North is, can the Bengals stop anybody? Because if they can...

46:32Look out. Look out. Last year, they lost games in which they scored 33 points, 38 points, 34 points, 27 points, and 38 points. they lost all of those games all of them if they can just be halfway better halfway better with new d coordinator in from notre dame back in cincinnati their former linebacker coach al golden if they can be halfway better they are a playoff team in what still is one of the very best divisions in football in the afc south i kind of did this one earlier Has Anthony Richardson played his final snap in Indianapolis? Other people want to look at the Jaguars and Liam Cohen in a make-or-break year for Trevor Lawrence.

47:27Or others want to look at the Texans and can they protect and run the ball? Sure. My question is, has Anthony Richardson played his final snap in Indy? Because if Daniel Jones wins that job, then what do you do? Now, the answer is probably you put him in a goal line package. Andrew, he is still going to play, but you took him in the top five with only a dozen career starts at Florida. There is a lesson to be learned here in the West. Can Pete repeat success? Yeah. Bo Nix, year two. It's fun. Do the Chiefs have a left tackle? Yeah, that's fun. Can the Chargers have anyone catch the ball other than Ladd McConkie?

48:04Yeah, that one's fun as well. I want to know. Can Pete repeat success? And if he does, I'm going to love it. And now every NFL team is going to want to hire an old head coach. And we could have Lane Kiffin pounding the table for Nick Saban to come back all fall. In the NFC East, my question, not about the Cowboys. No, not about the Commanders. Not about the Eagles. It's when does Jackson Dart start? and I think it's sooner rather than later. Agree. I think they need it. I think they, meeting the front office and the head coach, need it. I think Jameis Winston could very well be traded to a contender that loses a quarterback or a good team that needs a better number two at the end of camp.

48:52You don't need Jameis and Russell and Jackson Dart. That is one too many. In the NFC North, my question isn't about Ben Johnson. It isn't about the Vikings. I'm sorry, it is about them. It's not about the Packers or the Lions. it is about JJ McCarthy. It is the only question to be in the division. Is the one game sample size we saw last year in the summer real? I mean, it was one game in the preseason kids. That's it. That's it. Good, right? They won 14 games a year ago, 14 games. It's the best division in football. There's a difference between being, hey, I'm a pretty good young quarterback, and I'm good enough to compete in that division.

49:36Can't he do it? In the NFC South, are the Saints in the running for the number one overall pick? Are the Saints legitimately trying to win? I'm not saying they're trying to lose, but are they trying to win? There's a big difference. End of the NFC West. Very existential question. Who are the Arizona Cardinals? Who are they? Because the Seahawks have a new quarterback in Sam Darnold. The Rams think they have a young defense, certainly, in another year of Matthew Stafford where they can make a legitimate run. The 49ers, I got no idea what they are. They paid their quarterback, right? As well, they should have.

50:13I'm glad they did. Happy for Brock Purdy. But what are the Arizona Cardinals? Who are the Arizona Cardinals? Are they a team that's going to still play a lot of 12 and 13 personnel and try to run the football? And can they still do that? And this is a pivotal year for Kyler. Pivotal. If the Cardinals are just kind of blah this year, there's a lot of look into the mirror next offseason for that team. I think they could be good. I really do. But how good? And what's actually good to suggest next February that everything stays together as is. So that's the show. Those are my questions. As training camp is ready to open, I'm happy to be here.

50:49I thank Rich for letting me be here. Thank you, friend. And for inviting me to be here. Thanks to everyone. Don Bowie and RJ and Brockman. Jason TJ Oh he's a treat bro Right And Erica And Liz And Sarah And Kristen Who else am I forgetting And John Boy And Pa Ingles Adam in the back Yeah And Adam in the back as well Are you here Alright My name is Andrew Siciliano I will see you Next week Maybe in Cleveland A Browns training camp Hey I'll call in I'll do that Yes So long everybody Have a good weekend Let's go One last thing before you go Good hosting is all about making the right call at the right time.
