0:33Rich Eisen:All right, it's time to overreact to free agency. And since that really began about a week ago, we've had some time to think about overreacting. Yeah, buddy. But that's the way the calendar rolls out for the new league year, right in the middle of Overreaction Monday opportunities for us. Alongside Chris, I am Rich. It is Overreaction Monday, free agent style. Good to see you over there, brother.
0:57Chris Brockman:Good to see you, man.
0:58Rich Eisen:Got a nice list. I bet there's been a lot that has happened since our last program hit it. Go for it. That was terrible. That was crap. That was garbage. This place sucks. Overreaction. Mondays. Monday.
1:13Chris Brockman:All right, Christopher, what do you have? First item up for bids here. So we spent the whole last week and the previous days leading up to it talking about Max Crosby and the Ravens and the no trade and going back to the Raiders. I want to take this angle of this story. The Ravens trade snafu is going to make Lamar Jackson think twice about signing an extension.
1:36Rich Eisen:I don't think so. I think that's an interesting twist. Why isn't this deal done yet? I don't know. I have no idea. They did do a redo of the cap for him. A redo so they could get some cap space. But there is no extension yet. And I don't know. I kind of feel like where would these opportunities elsewhere crop up that he'd be interested in where at least he knows that they have a shot to win it every single year? You don't think the Ravens? You think Max out Trey Hendrickson in shows that it's a not really wanting to by the Ravens. You know what I mean?
2:25Chris Brockman:There is, we're going to talk about A.J. Brown in this show. Where is the A.J. Brown for Lamar Jackson? What have they really done to surround him with superstars outside of an aging Derrick Henry?
2:36Rich Eisen:Well, Zay Flowers was drafted, and he's pretty darn good. He just hasn't really come to the— He's not a real number one, though. Well, he is for them. That's the problem. I understand what you're saying. Derrick Henry being added has been a significant upgrade. Derrick Henry cost them some games last year. All right. I would say Derrick Henry's won them more games than cost them. I wouldn't sit here and say Lamar is thinking about the exits.
3:00Chris Brockman:Do you think Baltimore is the best chance for Lamar to win a Super Bowl? As opposed to what? As opposed to who? Anywhere else. I understand that. He could be the one. We talk about who's going to really pull the James Harden and be like, I want to go there. Right. He is the one that could do that.
3:17Rich Eisen:As you know, the I want to go there is always the Rams. that's the one that one Stafford steps down that is going to create the James. Well, we know who's going to go there.
3:26Chris Brockman:So I think that's, that's,
3:27Rich Eisen:I don't know if I listen, I don't know if Burrow is, you can push Sharpie him in here to Los Angeles, but start to, you could, if you're looking at anybody that could potentially pull the, I want to get out of here. I'm not coming back here. You should trade me type of NBA move. I don't know if Burrow is going to do it, but he seems to have the, makeup. Let's put it this way. He definitely seems to have the circumstances around it. Well, Mars already asked for a trade
3:56Chris Brockman:once. I mean, why wouldn't he do it again?
3:58Rich Eisen:I do not think the Ravens trade snafu is making him sit here and think the Ravens don't want to win and I want to get out of here. What I think happened is what I think, you know, Rod Woodson and a few others that we had on last week were pointing out is that once the Monday of free agency hit, once the new league year, you can have a conversation window opened and the Ravens lost Tyler Linderbaum and then they lost Isaiah Likely and then they lost Patrick Ricard, just to name three. They lost their punter. They lost a couple of other pieces. They were sitting around going, well, we're going to need to plug some holes here and where can we do that well maybe using our draft choices over the next two years all of them and when we're looking at these MRIs or the um the landscape of things from Crosby's MRIs to who we've lost and how we're going to replace them they got cold feet I mean it's just that simple and they're like we could just sign Trey Hendrickson we could sign him we don't lose our draft choices we nix the trade we'll take a ton of heat for it we'll take a lot of heat for it and um the cost is like i don't care about the heat certainly if he's got an owner that's saying you're the guy run it as you see fit don't know if i like that idea don't know if i like that reputation spreading around but if you think crosby's not a long-term answer and hendrickson is an answer and you can plug some holes of all the things that we lost right now and you need that 14th overall pick to start it, nuke the trade.
5:43Rich Eisen:And I think that's what happened. And I think Lamar knows that. And I think Lamar sits there and might go, let's see how this year plays out. We could put a pin in this. I think it's an overreaction to start this program. What else you got over there?
5:54Chris Brockman:I want to talk about one of the teams that I think was one of the big winners following free agency, primarily on the defensive side of the ball. Love what the Carolina Panthers did. They're going to win the South next year.
6:04Rich Eisen:I don't think that's an overreaction at all. They won it last year, and they won it 8-9. And, you know, they were seemingly getting, listen, losing Rico Dowdle, I think is going to leave a little bit of a mark. Although they probably think we got Chuba Hubbard, we got ourselves. It paid Chuba like a number one. No, and I understand that. But Chuba sometimes wasn't able to answer the bell. And here comes Rico Dowdle crushing it. You know, him going to Pittsburgh is an interesting. Interesting. Under the radar. We're going to talk about Pittsburgh. But no, I do like what they did. Jalen Phillips and obviously Devin Lloyd to add to their front seven that's already been supplemented by some smart moves is just going to bolster that defense against a division that didn't really, I guess one, you got Tampa losing Mike Evans.
7:00Rich Eisen:The Saints, we need to see what they're going to do with Travis Steven Jr. and we'll see what the Atlanta Falcons look like. I think the Falcons are a team that is going to gain momentum between now and the beginning of the season. We're going to talk about them in a minute, too. But I don't think this is an overreaction at all. They were the ones who won it, and they are on an upward swing. That's for sure. From one season to the next to the next. They are building. They are keeping pounding, to use their phrase. And I do like what they did to add to the front seven. And that should get them above 500 at the very least.
7:42Rich Eisen:If they wind up playing at home as well as they did and just start playing on the road a little bit better and playing on the road in the same way they did at home, I don't think this is an overreaction.
7:53Chris Brockman:We'd have to look this up, but has any division had an eight-game division winner more than the NFC South? The NFC West did back in the day.
8:02Rich Eisen:You remember that? They had a 7-9 one year, right? Yeah, but before it went to, yeah, that was when Seattle and the Rams went down to it in the last weekend. Yeah, I remember that. And then Seattle made it, and everyone was like, what the hell are they doing in the playoffs? They don't deserve to have a home game, and then Beastquake happened.
8:17Chris Brockman:Yeah, yeah. You know? Fun times. These things happen. I know, right? Okay, one of the big stories that Kyla Murray ends up in Minnesota. Want to take this twist on that signing. Justin Jefferson is going to remind everyone he's that dude. He's going to win the receiving triple crown next year. That's crazy. That's a total crazy overreaction. He's going to tell everyone, hey, look, you guys, Puka and all these other young wide receivers, I'm the guy. I'm the best receiver in the NFL.
8:47Rich Eisen:I understand. But you still need the trigger, man. You think Kyler Murray's going to stroll in there and all of a sudden going to resurrect his career and be the first overall pick that we've yet to see with consistency? You want to know why? Why? Coaching matters. coaching matters i i understand that i get it coaching and and he's kind of proven he can play in this league i know he can and he has but not with any level of consistency whatsoever as long as he stays healthy he's been a really good player okay i need to see it first kyler murray in minnesota is in the category of the i need to see it really yeah you don't seriously Chris.
9:26Chris Brockman:I mean, I know coaching matters. I think Kyler Murray's staying healthy. He's proven himself to be a, I mean, I know it's not a fantasy. It's not correlated to the NFL, but that guy puts up absolute numbers all over the place. I know that. Every single level of football. I get it, but then at
9:41Rich Eisen:times, he just disappears in games. Disappears. First half incredible, second half disappears. Has that always been coaching? Always.
9:49Chris Brockman:I think a new spot, a little bit more maturity probably and a little more maturity will definitely be helpful.
9:56Rich Eisen:But to turn Justin Jefferson into a triple crown receiver, a triple crown receiver, not just him, because it's going to be him. We mentioned this on the flagship. I might as well go down this road one more time here on Overreaction Monday. They did not acquire Kyler Murray to have him compete and lose that job. They are not going to pay him$1.3 million and have nothing but house money on the line just to have him as a backup in case J.J. McCarthy does not perform well. Last year, they had seen enough of J.J. McCarthy to get him in here to say, you've got the first six weeks of this season. Let's see what you can do.
10:41Rich Eisen:And if he performs well enough and the Vikings look like a team that can go on a nice run and he can fill the role of Sam Darnold that J.J. McCarthy, because if his rawness and his inability to stay healthy was unable to replicate, then he's going to be the starter. He's going to be the guy. And so they could sit here and say it's going to be a competition and then actually have the competition and actually stick with the competition and see it through. a guy who's entering year eight with two pro bowl seasons and damn near 90 starts in his career under his belt is going to beat out somebody like jj mccarthy because of his rawness it's just that simple right mccarthy might have nice practices and he might have a nice preseason game but at the end of the day a guy that they're paying just 1.3 million dollars to be there to take a flyer on him isn't going to be benched it's just not just not you know in the same way that somebody getting paid a lot of money is going to be played somebody who's not being paid a lot of money here to just see if he has the upside and can be that guy and can be the sam darnold again and then they'll figure out what to do with jj mccarthy after all of that and try and make the playoffs with a team that's ready to do it so but justin jefferson that murray's going to come in it's going to be so Stafford-like in Los Angeles in his first run at it.
12:08Rich Eisen:So Cooper Cupp winds up a triple crown winner and Justin Jefferson is that guy. I don't see that analogy on my SAT, sir. Want to earn extra income for your business? 13:21Chris Brockman:Rich, it's a happy Stone Cold Day. 316 to you and those who celebrate. Aaron Rodgers still hasn't decided anything. There's nothing going on in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are once again making a mistake, waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make up his mind.
13:36Rich Eisen:It wasn't a mistake last year. Was it? No. Really? Yeah, they made the playoffs. They made the playoffs. Did they win a playoff game? What was their other option? Their other option last year was trade for Kirk Cousins. That's what it was. or draft Jackson Dart and go for it, which is what Rod Woodson said.
13:56Chris Brockman:Now that's a nice 20. And by the way, now they're hindsight 2020. Great to see that. But he was the second quarterback in that draft last year. And they have an opportunity this year to do it again and take the second quarterback in this draft and run with him. And now you are building something for the future and you have a young quarterback that you can get behind and believe. Right. We're just, you're right back where you started. You could still. If you wait for Aaron Rodgers.
14:20Rich Eisen:You could still take, well, last year they waited for Rogers because he had some things he needed to get through this year. It's different. He went on Pat's show and basically sent up a flare by saying, I don't have a contract in front of me. I look forward to seeing some details. I know I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what he said. Not like, I don't know yet. I've got my, I've got this, I've got that. I'm going to be cryptic about what the, this and that is. And I'm going to sit here and wait for the Steelers and they're going to have to wait for me. I kind of get a different sense of that this time around.
14:51Rich Eisen:And it wasn't a mistake to go wait for him last year. It just wasn't. It wasn't. They still won the division. And I don't think anybody that they drafted or had any opportunity to go get in free agency or trade for in the new league year window was going to get them any further than they got.
15:06Chris Brockman:Personally, Mike Tomlin is not there anymore. That's correct. So if you run it back with Rogers, how are you building for the future? You're not.
15:14Rich Eisen:Well, unless Will Howard is the guy or unless they draft Ty Simpson this time and see what's going on there. I mean, they could do that. They could sign Rodgers and draft another kid. They could. I don't think they're going to.
Read the full transcript
15:27Chris Brockman:I don't think they will. Draft a kid and let him rip. You got a quarterback-friendly head coach now. Tomlin is not there anymore. You've already declared by letting him leave or shadow firing him that you are ready for something else and to build something else for the future. I understand your point. Rather be in this, like, mediocrity level that you've been for the last five, six years. Like, what are we doing?
15:50Rich Eisen:I just think them waiting for Rodgers last year wasn't a mistake. And this year, I think it's just a different scenario. So I'll just call this an overreaction and press on. What else? A.J. Brown is the hottest name on the trade market right now. Is he on the trade market? Is he? It kind of seems like. It seems like there's two teams. It seems like it's the Patriots, and I don't know why the Rams keep cropping up here. I think the rumor of that was based on the fact that Devontae Adams was owed a$6 million roster bonus that they've now paid him. Right. So the fact that Adams is on the team and they've paid him, he's not going anywhere, and A.J.
16:28Rich Eisen:Brown's not coming here. But what's your premise? Sorry, I didn't mean to jump in on here.
16:34Chris Brockman:There is a second team, and it is the Rams, Rich, and if the Rams trade for A.J. Brown, they'd have the best wide receiver room of all time
16:41Rich Eisen:but I don't think they would have kept Devontae Adams had they acquired Brown I think that Adams they had to look around and think are we paying this guy this money even though he did have the production last year he was incredible I know he certainly was incredible did he lead the league in touchdowns? it felt like it well you were the oh wait sorry he led the league in one yard touchdown that's all he does is catch one yard touchdowns
17:06Chris Brockman:that's weird
17:06Rich Eisen:well it doesn't matter if it's a one-yard touchdown or a 99-yard touchdown as long as it's a touchdown and you're not settling for three points instead, Chris. You're not losing four points in a possession because you couldn't punch it in the end zone. The Rams still employed running backs, though, last year, right? I get it. Okay, got it. I understand that. But, yeah, if they were able to have Puka, A.J. Brown, and Devontae Adams in the same wide receiver room.
17:28Chris Brockman:Name a better wide receiver room ever. I couldn't. Ever.
17:30Rich Eisen:You can't. I guess it would be who the Vikings rolled out there with Randall, right? Didn't they have Moss, Carter, and... Oh, who was their third receiver, though? It wasn't A.J. Brown. No, it wasn't A.J. Brown. Jake Reed back in the day? That's it. I mean... That's one that just pops in my head.
17:49Chris Brockman:What about the Oilers, the run and shoot, all those things? What about the Jets last year?
17:52Rich Eisen:With... Okay.
17:54Chris Brockman:A.J. Brown, right?
17:55Rich Eisen:Sure, that would have been the best wide receiver room of all time. Of all time! I can't imagine another one.
18:01Chris Brockman:I don't think we should gloss over this.
18:02Rich Eisen:Okay. Okay. Well, it didn't happen, and it won't happen. Well, I mean, never say never. Again, if Brown came here, I think it would have been at the expense of Adams staying for whatever reason.
18:10Chris Brockman:I mean, it's fun to think about, right? It didn't happen.
18:12Rich Eisen:Why are the Rams – why were they involved in that? Because, again, Adams was going to be paid a$6 million roster bonus.
18:18Chris Brockman:So they were trying to offload – they were just trying to swap a one-for-one basically?
18:23Rich Eisen:Listen, I can't – I haven't spoken to anybody. It's just what I've read and what I've heard. Yeah. I haven't spoken to anybody with the Rams, okay? but you just have to sit here and think the way that less need goes about his business with, with, you know, with a heart, but not leading with it. Right. I'm kind of cold and, and figuring out what you have to do. That there, there had to have been a split moment of a conversation of like, that's a lot of money. You know, do we, do we swap out Adams for a younger AJ Brown and have a, a bit more of a contract, right? It's a big contract to get, but apples to apples in year one, it might've been apples to apples.
19:09Rich Eisen:If you're saving$6 million here, I don't know. It didn't happen. I think the Rams were smart to stay put. The question is, is why would the Eagles trade AJ Brown? Why, why would that happen again? It would, it's the iceberg. And we just see the tip. What's underneath the iceberg. Has he demanded to get out? I don't know what it is, but the Eagles don't have to do it. and if anybody wants to make sure that eagles feel that they have to they'd have to come with a massive haul true do you think he gets traded i don't i don't i don't either i don't because i mean the eagles will then go into the season with their new offensive coordinator with who is their wide receiver room with is davante smith a true number one are they really going to
19:52Chris Brockman:go into that feels like he's better as a you know because we're assuming we're not getting another
19:56Rich Eisen:receiver back in Philadelphia Dallas guard return I understand that but I assume we'd be getting draft compensation back not not human being that would have to fill the shoes of AJ Brown as a veteran yeah I imagine now Devante Adams being flipped for him might have been something that the Eagles could have been interested in I don't know if Adams wanted it Adams and a pick for Adams wants to be here I'd want to stare at the sunset I would not want to leave I don't want to leave the Rams yeah Matthew Stafford and the Rams what else let's talk more Hall of Fame receivers
20:25Chris Brockman:Mike Evans going to San Francisco I think was the most surprising free agency move. I went higher register, but it certainly felt like it. Outside of Crosby, it was. Yeah, it certainly felt like it. I think he's going to be awesome. Talk about Devontae Adams. He's going to fill the Devontae Adams-type role for San Francisco, and I know there's a lot of mouths to feed. But Mike Evans is going to have more touchdowns than any Bucs receiver next year.
20:47Rich Eisen:I'll call that an overreaction. I will, because there's McCaffrey sitting there. There's McCaffrey sitting there, and Evans has had trouble staying healthy for all 17. And I think Emeka Abuka is going to shine out. I do. I think he's going to show up and shine. I don't disagree that Evans is going to make the Niners a better team. He calls himself the missing piece. They were just missing one piece. And he does fill the Devontae Adams role for this team, to use that analogy. The only question is, who's the Puka? Now that's the issue. is it Ricky Pearsall, right? I mean, who else is it going to be?
21:25Rich Eisen:Kendrick Bourne left. Everyone's assuming Juwan Jennings is coming back, obviously. Ayuk is gone, too. So what are they going to do? Still Kittle there, I guess. When he comes back from his Achilles. Yeah. So they needed Evans. I mean, that was a big get for them. That was a big get, and let's hope he stays healthy. Yeah. But I'll just call the fact that he doesn't seemingly have the ability to stay healthy because the football gods keep messing with this man uh the injury gods keep messing with this man for all 17 and then there's McCaffrey inside the five but so i'll say uh i'll call that an overreaction shot clocks big shots upsets aces tgl playoffs are here first

A lot of potential there. And also, you know, it's been a long time since the Dolphins have won a playoff game. I believe it's 2000. They're one of the longest teams to be winless in the playoffs. No more. Malik Willis is going to end the Dolphins' long playoff drought this year. This year. This year. This year. That division, sneaky up for grabs. Patriots have this first-place schedule, extremely difficult. They're not going to win 14 games.
23:30Chris Brockman:Let's just be honest about it. Maybe 10. Buffalo, still an unknown, right? We know the Jets are a non-factor. I like where you're going. So the Dolphins, I think, could be maybe the second playoff team in that division, go on the road somewhere. Maybe they go to Pittsburgh or Baltimore and steal one. I kind of like Miami. As a sneaky, under-the-radar 2026 team. They're a shrug emoji team.
23:54Rich Eisen:What do they look like? What does Jeff Halfley's team look like? How do they play? What is it going to look like?
24:02Chris Brockman:Bobby Slowick, right, is the OC now?
24:04Rich Eisen:I just like how aggressive they were. It's just like, we got the whole... Listen, I don't like the way McDaniel... mcdaniel got fired okay i don't like stephen ross strolling in in the middle of a player's yeah a player exit meeting with the head coach three days after black monday to say i need the room you know i don't like that but at the end of the day they were they were aggressive to go say all right troy aikman we need some sort of guidance here you've never done this before but we we trust your acumen in your head and your heart and your knowledge and help us figure this thing out and he went ahead and grabbed two guys from the green bay packer system and um they put their heads together and they're like we're gonna take our medicine almost a nine figure cap hit spread out over two years and we're not gonna let that also prevent us from going and getting the kid that they had a front row seat to see in green bay so i'm kind of talking my way into saying this is not an overreaction it's a long shot but it's it's you know it's plausible because we don't know there they all i do also need to put this in the category of i need to see it yeah i'll play the i'll place this in the same bucket if i need to see it from i mean outside of jaylen waddle who are right because if i say i need to see it from from kyler murray with kevin O 'Connell is the guy, the button pusher with Justin Jefferson as his weapon.
25:33Rich Eisen:Then I definitely need to see Malik Willis first, where the coach has never done it before at this level. They got maybe a top five running back. They do. They got Waddle. They got some pieces. They got some pieces. They do. So I'll call this an overreaction. Shrug emoji or higher register are the Dolphins in 2026. They're shrug emoji. They could be. Higher register is like, I don't really believe it, as you know. Like, yeah, they made two nice moves. No, no. They made some nice moves. Okay. And they're smart bets. They're really smart bets. Aikman, Halfley, John Eric Sullivan, Malik Willis, making these moves, cutting people, resetting the situation, which is smart to do.
26:16Rich Eisen:They got one shot to reset. Unless you're the Jets, then they reset every four years, but they also do it with new people. So I think it's a smart move. They made a lot of smart moves in Miami. All right, a couple more.
26:31Chris Brockman:Got it. This might be a higher register one then. The Atlanta Falcons, what are they going to look like next year? It feels like two is going to be the week one starter, but I think he's going to be the starter for all 17. Two is going to be the starting quarterback all year and Falcons top 10 offense. Okay.
26:50Rich Eisen:I do like what they've put together for Stefanski. okay bringing in an offensive coach all right tailing raheem morris thanks for four straight wins they'd been a defensive head coach forever they have been quinn mike smith raheem right long time so now they're bringing in offensive mind a two-time coach of the year from cleveland let me repeat that a guy who won coach of the year twice in cleveland all right so um stefanski has that going for him and i know brown's fans are all like yeah he ruined cleveland uh i don't know whose decision like we'll find out one day whose ultimate decision it was to say you know what we're gonna do we're gonna go eat deshaun watson we're gonna blow up this whole baker thing we're gonna get deshaun watson we're gonna pay him guaranteed dollars and we're gonna reset the market and we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna win with deshaun watson and all the off the field stuff is not gonna be a problem we'll we'll still do this we'll still give him this contract knowing we're going to lose him potentially for a full season.
27:50Rich Eisen:This is what we're going to do. I don't know. Again, Stefanski absolutely had to have some fingerprints on a lot of these Browns moves that were still scratching our heads over. Yeah. But him coming in and saying, I'm bringing in my system, and let's just say he was a guy who drafted Dylan Gabriels. Like, I can do something with this kid. Sure. Well, he's basically like if Tua was a Russian nest doll, You could snap him open and play still in Gabriel inside of him. Right. Right. So obviously he can do stuff with Tua and I'm sure he likes Penix too. And I think that he can figure out what to do.
28:27Rich Eisen:And them having a top 10 offense is 100 % in the ether. No doubt about it. I mean, Kyle pits coming off. Finally, his breakout finally be John is your number one overall fantasy draft choice. Good reason. I believe so. He has now put himself in the McCaffrey category of what he can do with the football. Drake London is another one. They also, like I said, have some other nice pieces around. Good offensive line. They did lose Algier, and they did lose Mooney. Mooney, by the way, nice pickup by the Giants. Agreed. And Algier's been a great back, too. So I see the top 10 offense, but two is starting all season.
29:09Rich Eisen:I mean, just slide, buddy. Just slide. We're assuming slide here. So I will say no to that. We're half overreaction, half okay. Okay. Overreaction, two starts all 17. Okay. Not an overreaction that they've got a top 10 offense in the ether here. So what else you got over here? Last one?
29:29Chris Brockman:Two more. Two quickies. Two quickies. I love it. Two quickies. Go for it. AFC South. Okay. All right. Jacksonville wins that division. They are meeting their potential finally. Trevor Lawrence, Travis Hunter. Sarah saw Travis Hunter at Disneyland over the weekend. Oh, nice. I think this is the sneakiest best division in the AFC for 2026. All right. Well, who else is sneaking? Who's sneaking?
29:56Rich Eisen:In the division? Yeah. Listen. Titans are sneaky. Titans are going to shock some people. I know. I understand that. But the South in both conferences are always going to be labeled the sneakiest division. Yeah, but they're not. That's like calling a left-hander in baseball crafty. They're all crafty. You know what I mean? They're all crafty. Even like your guy Crochet who can blow you away. That rhymed. They're all crafty. No, no, no. Left-handers are crafty and South Divisions are sneaky. South Divisions are afterthoughts. Okay, which makes them sneaky when you want to start thinking about them.
30:31Rich Eisen:They're afterthoughts in shows like this one and in shows like this one that have a little bit of fun with every other show that's on TV or streaming or on a pod, okay?
30:42Chris Brockman:So I should have took out Sneaky and just said it's going to be the best division in the AFC? Yeah, take out Sneaky. All right, there we go. Let's adjust this.
30:48Rich Eisen:Let's take out Sneaky.
30:50Chris Brockman:Yeah, let's take out Sneaky and just call it the best then. In the AFC next year? AFC next year. South.
30:57Rich Eisen:No. No. No? No. Why? Because the West will be. Why, though? Why is the West the best? They never almost made the Super Bowl if their quarterback didn't get hurt, with all due respect. They would have lost anyway. Okay. Then you got the Chargers. We updated them. Okay, for those who are listening, we just updated the graphic, the topic bar because we're nimble like that. Professionals. You got the Chargers who are automatically going to be better because Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt are going to be back, and they're going to draft someone else for that offensive line, and they're going to start hitting people in the mouth.
31:32Rich Eisen:Charger is still in their team name. They're also going to be faster. They're going to play faster. They're going to be faster. Justin Herbert in the hands of Mike McDaniel is going to be superb, and you and I both know it. Both know it. They've lost their defensive coordinator. We'll see how that does play out at the end of the day with Jesse Minter gone. All right? And then you've got the Chiefs are 100 % not going to repeat last year. You know they will be better. You know they will be better. Over, under of last year's win total. You're taking the over every time. Yeah, but I'm not going double digits.
32:09Rich Eisen:All right, but enough to make it a much tougher division than it was last year. I think maybe I should do this.
32:15Chris Brockman:Maybe I should do this. The South will win more games than the West. Oh, now that's a hot take and thus an overreaction.
32:24Rich Eisen:I like it, though, Chris. I like the South.
32:27Chris Brockman:Look, everyone forgets that Houston has won a playoff game in three straight years. I know. Okay.
32:32Rich Eisen:Not a lot of teams can say that. You believe in Daniel Jones getting paid,
32:35Chris Brockman:coming back from the Phillies? You know, when I was originally coming up with this list, okay, I had Daniel Jones' name written down, and I didn't want to say that that was a bad signing. I didn't want to say that he's not going to be the guy, so I changed it. No, they hedged their bets.
32:49Rich Eisen:They paid him in the mid-40s for two years. They hedged their bet. They hedged their bet, and they were able to keep Alec Pierce. Nice moves. Nice moves. Certainly for a team that doesn't have a first-round draft choice this year and next listen true listen i want the titans to do well too i think they're all bald and beautiful exactly they're bald and beautiful exactly and they need to strike a blow for the brotherhood
33:10Chris Brockman:yes okay i think they have the chance they have a chance to be this year's commanders or patriots
33:15Rich Eisen:i hear you i think they're a team they made some moves for that defensive line they kept calvin ridley happy by moving around some money and keeping him in the fold and if and if they take
33:25Chris Brockman:Jeremiah Love at fourth overall.
33:27Rich Eisen:I'm with you. Doesn't sound like it. It's the West still.
33:32Chris Brockman:What else you got to finish? Last one to finish. I thought about this one cruising in this morning as my capper. Okay. You know, it's tough. You're always working. It's tough to repeat. You can't turn it off, can you? Well, there's a lot of traffic in the morning. It's coming. I mean, it gives me some time. All right. It's tough to repeat in the NFL. It's just in. Only a couple of seasons. Seahawks, you're going to miss the playoffs. That's all you're going to do. Is that how we're going to go? I've ever done it. As if we're not accused enough of hating the Seahawks around here. And when you lose a Super Bowl, it's tough to get back.
34:00Chris Brockman:This is a Patriot. It's a Patriot one. At least three of the final four teams last year. Will miss the playoffs? Will not win a playoff game. Ah. Rams, Seahawks, Broncos, Patriots.
34:14Rich Eisen:All right. So the Patriots aren't going to make the playoffs. So we'll throw that in.
34:17Chris Brockman:You know, if they do, they're probably one and done. I'm preparing for a one and done.
34:22Rich Eisen:To not win a playoff game next year, three. you well last year's final four let's just try and figure this out the chiefs didn't even make it
34:30Chris Brockman:didn't even make it okay you know what eagles didn't win a playoff game eagles didn't win a
34:34Rich Eisen:playoff game you also didn't make it the commanders didn't even make it oh for there's three right
34:38Chris Brockman:there right so it already happened the ramps didn't make the final four no the ramp the eagles beat in the uh nfc championship the commanders the commanders and then the chiefs
34:50Rich Eisen:beat the Bills. There you go. Who did win a playoff game? Who did? The Bills. The Bills were the lone representative. There you go. Alright, that's not an overreaction. Okay, we just talked it out. Yeah. Okay, that's not an overreaction. It just happened. It can happen again. It can happen two years in a row.
35:10Chris Brockman:Would you be more shocked if all four of those teams didn't win a playoff game? I would be shocked. Of course, they're good teams. Can I finish? Sure. If all four of those teams don't win a playoff game or we have the exact same final four next year, what would shock you more?
35:28Rich Eisen:It's the exact same final four. Okay. That would shock me. I don't remember the last time we even had that happen.
35:34Chris Brockman:But you would put those four in your top eight teams heading into next year. Well, I put three of them. Your whole family are Pats fans.
35:45Rich Eisen:You just walked into that one. Seriously, the one team, give me the team that if you had to name one team that would not make it back to the final four out of those teams.
35:54Chris Brockman:Denver plays in what you just said is the hardest division. Right. But they're pretty damn good, dude. But so are the teams in the division.
36:02Rich Eisen:To the point where they basically stood pat. They hardly lost. They lost Greenlaw. But, I mean, who else did they lose? And they hardly got anybody.
36:08Chris Brockman:I know I just talked up the Dolphins. But the Patriots play two cupcakes. And Buffalo, who is, you know, yet to really get over the hump.
36:17Rich Eisen:mm-hmm okay okay good stuff well done chris we're back all right we are back we are back another fun week on uh the flagship show the rich eisen show where we're getting ready for march madness we're getting ready for so much with a world baseball classic to finish can't wait to talk yeah and listen obviously you might be watching us or listening to us later in the week but we're on every day 12 to 3 eastern this show is going to be back again i believe next week as well on the family of networks, on the Disney family of networks.
