1:07Billy Gil:Welcome to the Ringer NFL Show. I'm your host, Shiel Kapadia. We are doing bold predictions on the Super Bowl today. What is going to happen in this game? Some are serious. Some are silly. Then we go way off topic with our guest today, Nate Tice from Yahoo Sports. So we've got Nate on. We've got Billy Gill from The Ringer. Let's take a break. We come back with our bold predictions.

1:40Billy Gil:All right, we are back here on The Ringer NFL Show with Billy Gill and our guest today. We've seated him in the middle here. Nate Tice from Yahoo Sports. Hello, my friend. How are you guys doing? Thank you for meeting me in the middle here. It's great. It's great. We're doing well. Now, Billy, you have some information on me. I understand.

1:58Sheil Kapadia:We're slightly conflicted about this appearance, Nate, because we thought that this was just like a friendly thing. You know, you wanted to come on, talk some football, Super Bowl week, all that. And then we were handed this promotional sheet for you. And we have to come out here and you're just being ushered around. We have to say, joining the show is Yahoo Sports NFL analyst and host of Football 301, Nate Tice. I did not know that. So it seems as though you're coming here with ulterior motives.

2:24Nate Tice:It wasn't the intent, but you know, hey, hey, whenever gets my son a new car for his birthday, you know, that helps a lot. How old's your son? Three. I meant like a little toy car. Okay. I was going to say, Gene, what are they paying you? No, no, no. Financial planning? I'm buying my car 13 years in advance, you know, from when he turned 16. No, I actually noticed that. I was like, who handed you that? It was just like a little ghost appearance? No, this is a friendly appearance where I thought it was. Yeah, I thought so.

2:48Billy Gil:I knew him way back when, Billy. Before you had a handler. Exactly. Before he was walking around with a little espresso cup on Radio Row. Like Andre de Gia with a beer can. He had a nice little fancy backpack. I saw him in the elevator earlier. Very stylish. It looked good. But no, it's okay. We still love Nate. He's still our friend. But thank you for doing the promo.

3:06Sheil Kapadia:Friend for sale, it seems.

3:08Billy Gil:Friend for sale. Yeah. Friends with a dollar sign. There you go. We're doing bold predictions today for Super Bowl 60. You know, you're trying to figure out different ways to talk about this game. I've got some serious ones. I've got some silly ones. But, Philly, you just kind of realized what the framing of the show was about 10 seconds ago. So I think we start with you. Oh, great. Yeah, thank you. Okay.

3:32Sheil Kapadia:All right. So in this playoff run, the Seahawks have looked incredible, obviously. Sam Darnold has looked great. Here's a bold prediction. Patriots figure Sam Darnold out. And by the third quarter, we have an Alabama Nick Saban situation where they say, you know what? Let's toss Drew Locke out there. They're going to say Kaltua. No. Can we trade for him? Drew Locke comes out. Okay. And he figures out the Patriots, leads them to victory. And now you start asking once again, is this just who Sam Darnold is?

4:11Billy Gil:I will say well I would say Kevin O 'Connell would be the happiest man in America if that happens he'd be like come home Sam it's available again you're ours the GM of the Vikings is calling he's like

4:21Sheil Kapadia:are you sure you wanted to fire me

4:22Billy Gil:look it didn't work out that's right well you know I don't know if you know this Billy Nate Tice was a big Sam Darnold guy when others were not I have a text from him before the season where he said Sheil I'm with you on the Seahawks and I go no no I just think the Seahawks defense is going to be great I don't buy Sam Darnold in the offense and he said something like you'll come around eventually. Now, because he's at this stage where he doesn't have to brag about those things anymore. A few years ago, he might have had to rub that in everyone's face. Yeah, he had to beat the chest a little bit.

4:49Billy Gil:But Nate, how do you think Sam Darnold's going to play? I don't know if you think that specific prediction's in play, but how do you think he's going to play in this game?

4:57Nate Tice:I kind of started when really looking at it. It's like the weakness, before I get to Sam, is the weakness of the Seahawks is the right guard in the center, and the strength of the Patriots is their defensive tackles. And where we see bad Sam is when he's under pressure a ton. You got Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Kyrus Tonga going against Bradford and Sundell from the Seahawks. That is one thing, one path, like direct path that I could see bad Sam coming out. Darnold this year, where you can see even just outside explosive plays and the wins and everything, is he's not scrambling as much as he ever has.

5:31Nate Tice:It's the fewest amount of scrambles he's had and the fewest amount of sacks he's taken. And I think that just speaks to how quickly he's getting rid of the ball, how few mistakes he's making. Little few. Sorry. But working out English here, it's not my first language. Yeah, yeah. No, but when I look at it, it's just that the Patriots have a couple things that make it hard on Darnold. They're really good on third down. The Seahawks are actually pretty bad on third and long. They're the second worst offense in the NFL on third and long. Patriots are very good on third down. So there's just things that they can make his life tough.

6:01Nate Tice:They blitz a tough. Patriots are one of the blitz happiest defenses. going against a team that's now playing a backup running back that's poor in protection. Not backup running back. Kenneth Walker is a starter. But a back that wasn't out there for protection reasons. So there's just some things that you can maybe see bad Sam kind of cropping up, maybe a little bit more than people are anticipating.

6:18Sheil Kapadia:And that's when Drew Locke comes in. And that's when Drew Locke comes in. It's in the middle, you know, second drive of the third quarter. All right. Yeah, yeah.

6:24Billy Gil:I like, you know, when you do bold prediction shows, you got to go bold like that. I like that because if you would have, you know, I'm going to have some weak ones. Now I'm looking at mine going, mine aren't strong enough because no one's going to remember some of these. It's just like there's a special team defensive touchdown. That's always the one. That's always the safety. Yeah, safety. I don't have that, but I do have this. How about this is very weak, so get ready to make fun of me. Drake May is the leading rusher in this entire game. No, you don't like that.

6:53Sheil Kapadia:I feel like it's happened already in the playoffs, right? He's been the leading rusher on his team.

6:57Billy Gil:In the game, Billy.

6:58Sheil Kapadia:See, that's the key. That's wild. That's bold, dare I say.

7:04Billy Gil:It wasn't bold. Prediction or hypothetical? Here's the case here. I don't think either of these run games are going to be very good in this game. To your point, I think the Patriots' defensive tackles against the Seahawks' interior line edge Patriots. And then the other side of the ball, it's like people are looking at going, oh, the Rams ran on the Seahawks. It's like the Rams had the best rushing offense in the NFL. Patriots aren't going to be doing that on them. So I don't think either team's going to run the football well. I think, Josh, you got to empty out everything in this game if you're the Patriots.

7:33Billy Gil:Designed run game, quarterback draw, option runs, scrambles. You add all those up, Billy. You're going to look at that box score at the end of the game and go, Shield was right. I shouldn't have doubted him. Nate, what do you think?

7:44Nate Tice:His rushing line's at like 38. It's very high. Yeah, and not for a bad reason. It's because he's a great scrambler and everything. But, no, I actually like that because maybe leading rusher actually looked at that prop, so it's funny you say it. But I agree with you. I think both run games, there's going to be a slog. It's going to be a war of two-yard gains. I think even by design from the Patriots, their preferred running style, very at you, the duo run, that's the one run that the Seahawks aren't amazing at. They're more average at. They're good against zone, all the other stuff. But those are two, three, four-yard gains.

8:14Nate Tice:Those aren't explosives. And then I think the Seahawks offense, the run game has been better, but it's Kenneth Walker taking a lot of touches. That's boom bust. Yes. And it's going against a defense that aren't early downs. And with Milton Williams out there, it's very good against the run. Really just outside the opening script. It's like I think the Seahawks have the advantage those first 15 plays, but can switch after that. Patriots defense really locks down. So I'm with you because one way you get after the Seahawks defense, push the ball and then scramble and create. That's it. That's what Drake May does.

8:42Billy Gil:That's the whole game plan. They're not going to be stringing together, you know, 10 play drives against them, I don't think.

8:45Nate Tice:I think one of the guys that had the most success was Cam Ward for the Titans because he was willing to create, scramble, extend plays, and scramble a little bit. And that's, you know, Baker when he was running hot. same exact thing in the first month of the season. Chats out Drake May plays anyway. So I'm with you on this. That's one little thing you can pick out with the Seahawks defense.

9:04Billy Gil:Now that's one thing, Billy. I wrote 22 things. I was going to ask you because I did see your 22 things.

9:12Sheil Kapadia:That was part of it.

9:13Billy Gil:Drake May rushing.

9:14Sheil Kapadia:Okay. So I wonder if I got that far. No, probably not. You may have fallen asleep. I think I got to like 18 or so. And like, I thought 22 was a weird number. Super Bowl 60. I was like, 60 things sounds great.

9:26Nate Tice:Do you think they blend it together at all?

9:26Sheil Kapadia:Well, listen, your words, Nate, not mine, but it seems sometimes like six headed into seven. It was kind of like a similar topic. I was wondering how we did that exactly.

9:36Billy Gil:You know, you write, and when you feel like you're done with the thought, you put the next number down. And then when you're done with that, you go to the next number. And then when you feel like you have nothing else to say, and your kids are making you feel guilty because you're about to leave for a week and you want to spend time with them, then you say, all right, this looks good to me. Because why do we have to do round numbers? But I'm wondering, like. I'm trying to be the change I want to see in the content game.

9:59Sheil Kapadia:But, like, what Nate is saying, not my words. Yeah, his words. What we're wondering here is, like, was the number actually, like, 13, and you felt like that's not enough? So then we started kind of breaking up some of them.

10:08Nate Tice:I thought it was, like, a football 22 thing. You know, you could have spun it that way. Yeah. I know, but 22 is a little.

10:13Billy Gil:It's a unique number for what you're trying to go for. You guys are proving my point. If I would have done 25, we're not even talking about this. The only reason it's made the podcast is because I did a weird number like 22. I thought you just like BuzzFeed.

10:26Nate Tice:You know, you're just going 13 things. Because after there's 17 things. This is classic youth shield.

10:31Sheil Kapadia:Just splashy headlines.

10:33Nate Tice:I have every... Clickbait.

10:35Billy Gil:Listen, if nothing else, I have every content move in the game mastered. Really? Teach us your ways. Well, I'm not going to put them on camera here, but we can chat later.

10:45Nate Tice:Talk gambling. Talk Eagles. Say Jalen Hurts once and you'll get clicks. Yeah. Okay. I like that. Bold predictions. Bold predictions. Bold predictions is a good one. He found through SEO that 22, it's before 25, so it comes up on the list a little bit quicker.

11:00Billy Gil:It's almost hypothetical trade season. I'm just saying. Really?

11:03Sheil Kapadia:Do you have one? Just a quick one. There's a little teaser.

11:06Nate Tice:It's NBA deadline. You have one for that, too?

11:07Billy Gil:No, I don't have one for NBA. I do think Geno Smith might quarterback the Vikings next year. What do you think about that?

11:13Nate Tice:Oh.

11:15Billy Gil:See? Content king, Billy. That's pretty fun. He doesn't like me. What do you think Kyler ends up?

11:20Nate Tice:What do you think Kyler ends up?

11:22Billy Gil:are we sure he's going somewhere yeah you are sure yeah um is he going to the jets kind of feels like it doesn't it yeah the jet no the jets are doing a quiet tank which not not that kyler's necessarily going to help yeah i mean the only person that doesn't know they're tanking is aaron glenn everybody else in the front office knows that they're tanking

11:41Nate Tice:yeah notice how many first rounders they have next year they're like yeah yeah let's make sure we and that was easy for them too they're like just business as usual guys yeah just do what We're always doing for fun. It's your coaching staff here. Don't worry about Woody.

11:50Billy Gil:Whatever you need to do, you know, make whatever changes you need. And then just checking out, how's Arch Manning doing?

11:55Nate Tice:Yeah. Checking out some sexy escapes.

11:57Sheil Kapadia:Shield, did you know that we're joined by Nate Tice of Yahoo Sports? You can hear more of him on Football 301, streaming on the Yahoo Sports Network Fast Channel, YahooSports.tv, YouTube, and anywhere you get your podcasts. I like that.

12:10Billy Gil:Thank you. Thank you for handling that.

12:11Sheil Kapadia:On top of just this plug and obviously the friendship, I think that you came just to kind of like rub the Sam Darnold stuff in Shield's face. No. He started the season about Sam Darnold,

12:21Nate Tice:and now all of a sudden, like, hmm, I told you so. Didn't you do, like, a Seattle show, and they basically just made you flop yourself? Yeah, yeah.

12:28Billy Gil:They didn't mention that I said the Seahawks are going to have the best defense in the NFL. They're right over there, my friends at 7-10 ESPN Seattle. But they actually found the clip where I gave the Seahawks a C - for their offseason.

12:38Sheil Kapadia:That's what happens when you're shock-shocked like you giving all your bold predictions. I was giving grades. That's another one. You're giving out grades for that, yes. I was honored. The master. The master here.

12:47Billy Gil:I was honored by it. Do you have another bold prediction? Okay. Billy, because I got another one here. Here's a bold prediction. Yeah.

12:54Sheil Kapadia:The Seahawks win the Super Bowl. Clint Kubiak has a change of heart.

12:59Nate Tice:Oh. And now he's no longer going to be the head coach of the Raiders. So reverse it.

13:04Sheil Kapadia:They're left without a head coach because LeFleur went to Arizona, and now they're scrambling to find a new head coach.

13:12Billy Gil:Okay. So now what leads him to this change of heart?

13:15Sheil Kapadia:He just says, you know what? but Seattle, we did this. We went through this. This one year of commitment I've given to this team. It's changed my life. Like, this is the place for me. I'm going to extend for one more year. And then he decides not to go. He says, all the teams for sale. He finds out who the new owners are. And he's like, oh, you know what? I could work with this. Okay.

13:35Nate Tice:He's like, hey, the Mariners are supposed to be pretty good this year. And I really want to go to T-Mobile a bunch.

13:40Sheil Kapadia:Walks around the fish market and stuff. He's like, I like this place.

13:42Nate Tice:That's another joke. That one ran through. I was like, fish market. I like the original Starbucks. I can just go right down right next to the fish market. You've been there.

13:49Billy Gil:Yeah, so I'm in a beautiful facility. He's in Renton right on the lake there. Maybe Pete Carroll's selling one of his wave runners. And he says, I'm not going to let, you know, perfect be the enemy of good. I don't know that that applies here. But basically, the grass isn't greener. I think that's better. The grass isn't greener. Especially in the desert. In the desert. And I'm getting a nice raise here. And I'll wait my turn because we're going to be good next year again. What do you think, man?

14:13Nate Tice:Well, I think he's already going. So it's kind of hard to do this. I also think the Raiders actually, like, they're not going to be great next year, but actually like a little more to them than maybe you would think, because they stink. But the fact that all these teams are like, we don't have a quarterback, we don't have a head coach. All right, who are you interviewing? Who's your quarterback? And all of them like, oh, we'll figure it out. But the Raiders are always like, okay, Kubiak, pretty good answer. And then Mendoza. It's actually like, yeah, if they didn't have Mendoza coming out, actually maybe warrant this a little bit.

14:39Nate Tice:Like, this is bold.

14:41Sheil Kapadia:Bold prediction. Mendoza gets arrested in the offseason. They say, this guy's too much of a bad boy. We can't gamble on him. Fernando or Alberto? You just said Mendoza. Are they going to be a package deal? Well, I think Alberto left Indiana, right?

14:57Nate Tice:I know, yeah. You know, Giannis and his brothers? Yeah, yeah. He's the hype man. He left.

15:02Sheil Kapadia:I think he went to Georgia Tech or something. Oh, okay. He went somewhere. I think he left. What if he says, you know what?

15:07Nate Tice:He's like, I got Fernando. Bye. Yeah.

15:10Sheil Kapadia:I'm going to declare. He's like, I don't think you're eligible. I think you've only been in college for like a year or something. Yeah. But Fernando, he's the one thing. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay.

15:18Nate Tice:I like that. Was it like, oh, no. He seems like a good boy. Maybe he cheated on his taxes. Well, I thought you used to say his test.

15:26Sheil Kapadia:Oh.

15:26Nate Tice:His LinkedIn is actually written by somebody else.

15:30Sheil Kapadia:Someone starts looking at his LinkedIn and they're like, hold on a second.

15:32Nate Tice:There's some discrepancies there. This is not. You used AI to write that report, to write that midterm. Wow. Maybe that's what it is. An interesting scandal. I don't know if that would be it. I don't know that anyone would care. I don't know if the Yale Cal guy would also be the guy. Actually, maybe. There's plenty of people to Yale that end up in jail. Yeah, some great stuff. Ivy Leaguers are not above the law. Well, I don't know that I agree with that. Depends what we're pushing for here. All right. Depends what judge they go to.

16:04Billy Gil:Flynn Kubiak returns to Seattle. You heard it here first. Yeah. This is like your version of the Sam Darnold thing.

16:12Sheil Kapadia:Yeah.

16:12Billy Gil:If now he goes back, we can say you called it.

16:15Sheil Kapadia:Yeah. But it won't be me promoting Football 301. I'll just come to rub it in your face.

16:19Nate Tice:All right. That's what you have to say. That take was presented by. Yeah. By Football 301. Which you can find on all your fast channels right now.

16:25Billy Gil:Let's take a break. We come back. And I want Nate to give us something he's chewing on. Maybe a bold. But you got anything for us, Nate? I do. You do. All right. Nate will give us a bold prediction. And then I've got some little off the wall bold predictions I want your takes on. The Ringer NFL Show is brought to you by FanDuel. 18:04Billy Gil:in Connecticut. All right, we are back here on the Ringer NFL show. Billy, I was gonna tell you this before the show, but I thought it would make for better content. Oh. Great head of hair. Oh, thank you. You know, because I thought you were coming for my corner, the hat guy at the Ringer. I mean, he does have a very nice hat collection. Is that your thing? Well, in my head it is. You're known as the hat guy? Yeah. And so, you know, I would think you with that nice head of hair, like Nate, why are you going hat so often?

18:30Sheil Kapadia:I don't know. I've just gotten used to it, I have a lot of hats. I actually came here with the intention of buying a hat, which is going to be super expensive.

18:36Nate Tice:Super Bowl-centric or San Fran-centric or anything like that?

18:39Sheil Kapadia:That's where I'm conflicted. Maybe you can help me out with this because you're a big guy now at Yahoo. So should I go Super Bowl-centric or San Francisco? Like, do I want a Giants hat? Because this is football, so I feel like it should be more Super Bowl-centric, right? But the 49ers, like, it doesn't fit.

18:52Billy Gil:You don't need to be putting money in Roger's pocket.

18:54Nate Tice:Really? Does he get a cut of everything? Yeah. Maybe it's San Francisco Seals. Oh. Who are they? That was Joe DiMaggio's team. Okay. That's what I'm talking about. PCL. That's the kind of hat you need.

19:03Sheil Kapadia:Okay. I was thinking maybe just getting like an NFL hat, a Super Bowl hat, like at the store would probably be so expensive. Oh yeah. We got$80. That's the thing. Rob Lowe kind of like the shield is his thing. So I can't do that. So maybe just like a -

19:14Nate Tice:There's some conference hats now. AFC, NFC. I saw that. That actually might be the answer. But do I want to commit to a conference? I know. They need divisional ones. So you go like, oh, I'm an AFC East guy. Yeah. You see somebody else with AFC East hat.

19:26Sheil Kapadia:Yeah.

19:26Nate Tice:Man of culture. I didn't. I was opening a can of worms.

19:29Sheil Kapadia:Yeah, I could talk. If you want to talk hats, we can do this all day.

19:32Nate Tice:Is it because you had to do a lot of morning shows that maybe you're a hat guy?

19:34Sheil Kapadia:I mean, part of it is I normally don't comb my hair. It's usually like somewhat unkempt, you know? I was thinking I need to get a haircut before I come, but I was like, I think I can make this work. I'll just put on a hat. But the hat that I brought was too tight. So there's a line across my head. So I basically have to decide in the morning, am I committing to this hat because I have to wear it all day? Or am I going sans hat? And today I said, you know what? My shirt has a collar. I'm gonna go no hat today. You look great. You look fantastic.

20:00Nate Tice:Were you a shaved head guy ever before?

20:02Sheil Kapadia:I was a shaved head guy like high school-ish in summers. You'd shave your head because it's hot. I'm down in Florida. So like shave my head for the summer. It'd grow back. It'd be kind of like weird. School wouldn't let me shave my head too much. Yeah. Strict rules.

20:17Nate Tice:Oh really? Okay. So that's why I think I've always was a hat guy because I hate worrying about the hair. So you just shave it. We're good. We're good. Don't even have to worry. Did you shave your head? I used to. I used to be like a number two or number one all the way around. So now I'm like full on, like, you know, stone cold. And what happened? He got hired by Y 'all. That's right. We're not there. I looked at my dad, who's bald, and I was like, all right, I should enjoy my hair while I have it. So, like, so far it's been okay. And they're like, you know, I have the hair right now, but I always wear a hat anyway.

20:48Nate Tice:So I always say it's because I have to do podcasts in the morning. I'm too lazy. I'm just lazy. You're both doing great. Yeah, you're both doing great. All this hair discussion.

20:59Billy Gil:I'm not sure that's going to make it into the show. Oh, yeah. Who's been chatting one-on-one? But I do think you made progress. Chatting one-on-one. I like this. Oh, hey, hey, hey. You made progress in terms of the friendship. Yeah, gotcha. I felt like that. It felt like an organic friend conversation right there. Nate, give us a bold prediction. What do you got? Patriots win. Oh!

21:21Nate Tice:I think that's bold enough. Yeah, four and a half point dogs.

21:24Billy Gil:Okay.

21:24Nate Tice:I think they have a lot of what I like to say natural answers. They don't have to change much to have an advantage in some ways against the Seahawks. The weakest part of the whole entire Seahawks team, we talked about, is the right guard in the center. And the strength of the Patriots is their interior defensive line. That can discombobulate Darnold. I think May, how he plays, this is how you go against that defense. I think the special teams advantage that the Seahawks have against so many teams, including the Rams and 49ers, is kind of, I wouldn't say neutral, but mitigate it a little bit because the Patriots are pretty good on special teams as well.

21:56Nate Tice:So I just think that there is a – there are more of a live dog than I think they're getting credit for, which actually – I know the Seahawks look like a juggernaut, don't get me wrong, but the Patriots schedule thing, like they play in the ACC – Oh, yeah, or the Big 12 – is that all of a sudden that's getting brought up. It's the NFL. That to me, yes, there are differences with that, but it's not as drastic as I think it's getting made out to be. We've got a week of bye weeks. I think the Patriots, again, just have some things that can maybe get after Darnold, stuff the run game, make it a slog, turn it into like that 2016 type of game, 17-13 type of game.

22:31Billy Gil:Now, my question is this, because, you know, we are in the business of rooting for our own takes now.

22:36Nate Tice:Correct.

22:36Billy Gil:Now, you have that Sam Darnold take out there. Yeah. But now you're picking the Patriots to win. Is this a hedge? Because I do think if the Patriots win, either Drake May puts the team on his back or Sam Darnold kind of turns into a pumpkin. I feel like one of those two things has to happen for the Patriots to win. So how do you do that? You're rooting for your takes. Which take is stronger?

22:59Nate Tice:I think it's more just like I think the other parts, the non-Drake May parts have kind of gotten underrated. Their defense has gotten kind of underrated. After the opening scripts, after those first 15 plays, they're the best defense in the NFL. They adjust better than anybody. They have higher marks than the Seahawks do after the opening script and one of the best defenses as well. So not only just the, but Drake May's style is how you have to beat the Seahawks. That's more what it is. It's not a style of defense that I'm like, oh man, this is really going to give them issues. They're baiting them into these throws.

23:28Nate Tice:It's actually how May wants to push the ball. May wants to create and scramble. Okay, that's what you have to do against the Seahawks. So there is a little bit of kind of, I honestly thought I knew I'd be maybe on the low end or of how many people are picking the Patriots. Now I've done about all these shows and everyone goes, you're the first one to say that. It does feel that way, which is not great.

23:46Billy Gil:Right, yeah.

23:46Nate Tice:Right, and that's also fading the public is a little bit of this. Right, yeah. It's kind of, I don't know, that's a little worrisome to me that everyone's just going, oh, Seahawks are a juggernaut. It's like six weeks ago, people were going, like, Sam Darnold ain't it. And I was one of the few people going, like, he is. And then now I'm going, never mind. No, it's nothing against the Seahawks. They are the better team. Do not get me wrong. It's just that the Patriots are closer to them that I think they're getting credit for.

24:09Billy Gil:It does feel like there's a little recency bias, even in my own head, where I'm like, You know what, Drake May has kind of stunk in the playoffs. But there's been weather, there's been shoulder, there's been game script. And if we just zoom out, I'm like, I had him as my MVP this year. So I shouldn't wait too much into these three games, but I can't help it. I can't help what my eyes just saw.

24:29Nate Tice:The Texans game is the one how I almost can feel for their offense, where it was a lot of tough drives. Hopefully they learned to help out Will Campbell. But I think it's that those drives that they had, like they had one to Stephon Diggs where they were able to sustain some plays. but then it came down to second half was them just trying bombs. And they finally connected on the one to booty. But I think that's the exact same style this game is going to be for this offense. It's not going to be like, oh, my God, the Patriots just dropped 55 % success rate. We're going nuts with EPA numbers. I think it's going to be more like 40%, but they hit six explosives.

25:01Billy Gil:Yeah, and you know what they're going to be? They're going to be those plays where you go, he was covered. Camp now, defensive back was right there. But because those are the plays that Drake May and they've made all year long where it's like it's not like the wide receivers beating the guy by three yards. It's just like great throw, tough degree of difficulty catch, and they make it. So I think that's possible.

25:17Nate Tice:Yeah, that's just the angle I'm kind of like. Okay, I like it. The fan fiction, the fantasy booking, as they say in wrestling. That's why I have my idea. You're setting yourself up to be right no matter what.

25:25Sheil Kapadia:You know what I mean? You're right on the Sam Darnold thing before the season. Professional takeout. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Proud uncle right now. That's why we're friends.

25:31Billy Gil:Fantastic. With the dollar sign. All right. Billy, I've got some more bold predictions. You got any?

25:36Sheil Kapadia:No, I want to hear yours. I want to learn from the master. Okay.

25:40Billy Gil:Give me, like, props. All right. That's what I want. Okay. So, well, all right. You want a football one or like just an off-the-wall one? You tell me. Oh, wow. Okay, wow. Lay your hair down here.

25:50Sheil Kapadia:What's going on?

25:51Billy Gil:How about a player will get ejected in this game? You know, everyone would say, oh, they're so well-coached and they're so disciplined. But how about this? Everyone's giving Vrabel the game management edge. He takes a look at that Seahawks defense and says, they're tough. We got to get one of those guys out of there. Matt Collins, come over here. You know? See Reek Wollin over there? Do you see what he did in the championship game? We're going to get under his skin a little bit. Maybe he throws a punch. He gets ejected. Now, all of a sudden, they're shorthanded on defense. And then you know what happens if the Patriots win.

26:21Billy Gil:All the stories come out. Rabel showed us this clip on the Thursday before we left Foxborough. No, ejected cycle. It's the lore of Mike Rabel. And this has only happened once a player's gotten ejected in the Super Bowl. Okay. Bruce Irvin. Last time. Yes. At the end. At the end when the Seahawks were just like, We are not dealing with this. They couldn't deal with the fact they lost in that manner. We're like, we're just going to fight them.

26:46Sheil Kapadia:So are you sacrificing Mac or you're sending Mac out there to be an agitator? It's what they always say on the broadcast.

26:52Billy Gil:They catch the second time. So much Florida Panthers in your brain.

26:54Nate Tice:You're just trying to figure this out. I heard from people that were at the game, the woolen celebration along the sideline. They say TV copy did not do it justice to what it looked like in person. They say that he was celebrating up the sideline for 30 yards. that he went down the sideline to talk her out to the Rams sideline. Hey, I agree. Hey, Vrabel's going to be pushing these buttons. There's going to be something on that. I love that. That's a nice fun bowl take.

27:19Billy Gil:That's one. And the other one here is someone honors the Doug Baldwin poop celebration. Do you remember this? I forgot about this. Was it with the ball? With the ball.

27:27Nate Tice:Yeah. I just think of the moss moon. Yeah. And then the white.

27:30Billy Gil:This was the follow-up. Yeah. So Doug Baldwin against the Patriots last time they played, Billy, I don't know if you remember this, he took the football, bent over and acted like he was pooping the football. And the broadcast was so horrified that they cut away. God forbid anyone see this. Now, I was analyzing this film earlier. Nate analyzes the All-22. I analyzed this film. He analyzes the All-2. All-2. Only Jermaine Kearse came over. And so Doug Baldwin got the penalty. But I think if they have some time to kind of work this out and get more people involved, if it's a group celebration, I don't think he gets flagged and they can honor Doug Baldwin.

28:05Billy Gil:Really? Yeah.

28:06Sheil Kapadia:Okay. Do you think it's more likely they honor Doug Baldwin or they honor Marshawn Lynch? The groin jump.

28:12Billy Gil:Yeah. I was debating between the two. You're in my head, so I don't know. All right.

28:15Nate Tice:Because they did—the Seahawks do—didn't they have a game this year where they did double groin jumps? I think it was against the Cardinals. Remember they were scorching them in the first quarter, second quarter. It was like 44-0. I think they did the double cross jump, so it's in their DNA.

28:27Billy Gil:Now, he kind of went there, but he didn't go all the way. That would have been a good social clip if he stood up and did the big groin.

28:34Sheil Kapadia:He can't do it now.

28:35Nate Tice:I did like, there was a pun there, the DNA. So I was like, yeah, that's how I went for it. Okay.

28:40Sheil Kapadia:You get the D joke.

28:42Nate Tice:Yeah, I know, right? You know what he's talking about. So football 301. Yeah, he's joining us on Yahoo Sports.

28:47Billy Gil:My last football one is this. Now, Nate's not going to like this one based on who he picked. But what if JSN breaks Jerry Rice's record for most receiving yards in a Super Bowl? 215. Was that all? It's all right. I thought it was going to be like 160 something. I was looking at it. The Patriots, everyone likes the Patriots' corners. Except the Steve Young game. It was Bengals. Was that Young or Montana? I think that was Montana. That was Montana. Yeah, Montana.

29:12Sheil Kapadia:The record's 215, so he has to get 216. He has to get 216. That's crazy. 215, I'd listen to, but 216 is a bit much. I had it at 214 and a half. Yeah. I didn't know about this.

29:21Billy Gil:You know, everyone likes the Patriots' corners. They've got good players. Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis. Do you know they're 31st in DVOA against number one receivers? So they play man coverage. Jackson Smith and Jigba kills man coverage. He needs like 150 yarder to be in play for this. What do you think? Neither of you like it. Just move on. I could tell by your face.

29:42Sheil Kapadia:He needs more than 150 yarder to be in play for this.

29:44Nate Tice:It's got to be a bonanza of like 12 catches, each one going for 15 plus. You know, like it's got to be a steady die. I know I'm being rejected when I'm being rejected. You're being bold. Yeah. I'm being bold. And yeah, sometimes we can't handle bold. Yeah. I think when I'm curious if Braybill and them and the Patriots staff have like a little curveball. What's your plan?

30:06Billy Gil:What do you think the plan is against JSN? A little one double.

30:08Nate Tice:One double 11 which is when they truly double-team. There's the infamous quote Bill Belichick talking to Chad Ocho Cinco going it's called one double 85. All it is it's the classic Belichick game plan Brian Flores still uses it is that they double-team though your number one then they have their second best corner on your number two or their best corner on their number two but it's kind of fun the Patriots they could double team JSN and then it creates okay all right Cooper Cobb, Rashidi with Carlton Davis or Christian Gonzalez, but it turns into like, all right, we're making the other guys beat us.

30:37Nate Tice:And on the offense, it turns into shot plays because that's the one way to beat it. You have to do double moves to beat it. So it creates more of a boom-bust offense than maybe the Seahawks want to be. So that's, I don't know, that's in the back of my head has been something that that might be the curveball.

30:50Billy Gil:Now with the way they line him up, is that harder to do? They have rules. Yes, but they have rules. The backfield would be the one.

30:56Nate Tice:And Kubiak has shown that he puts Jason in backfield that's the one little change up that can give it issues okay but also it's like that's and that's what the learning curve is for those dbs it's like all right if he's in the slot where are the rules so if he's out here we're over rules but that's part of like the makeup of it they got a bye week these coaches have to have done something they have to but every team's been

31:14Billy Gil:saying this all year and he yeah you know he still had an incredible they can't just take it on the chin right yeah that's how i look at it why do you have any more bold predictions we're good no you have a prop you like do you have any nate hey let's look at props i looked at props okay so i I like the unders, basically, on the running backs, unless you're giving me a Kenneth Walker longest run.

31:33Nate Tice:Nope.

31:34Billy Gil:You don't even like that one.

31:35Nate Tice:I'm right there with you. Milton Williams, 2 plus 6 is plus 1 ,100.

31:40Billy Gil:All right, so if a defensive player wins MVP, who do you think it is? It'd be Milton.

31:44Nate Tice:Okay. Yeah. It'd be Milton Williams. Actually, that's literally words on my mouth. Or, yeah, but then you're getting into Malcolm, what's his face? Smith. Smith, yeah. You've got to get a pick 6 on a lucky linebacker thing. That's the only other way. But the thing was, Josh Sweat took over last year. And Milton Williams had a great game. And they didn't get it because you've got to give it to the quarterback. So it's very hard in this day and age unless the quarterbacks are just throw for 150 and do nothing. But, yeah. I was trying to find some plus money ones that I like. How about the fullback for the fullback, Jack Westover, for the Patriots?

32:19Nate Tice:Over half a receiving yard is plus 280. That is pretty exciting, though. That gets me going. I like that. Hey, you see that ball out to the fullback, I'll be freaking out about it. Plus two idiots, plus money just to catch one pass. I don't know. I like that. That's something that's on my mind because I think that's how they're going to use. They're going to get the fullback out there. All right.

32:37Billy Gil:Let's finish with this because when Nate predicted that the Patriots were going to win, I thought, like, how does the football viewing populace react to that? If the Patriots, after having just, you know, they won, they have a few down years, and now they're back on top winning the Super Bowl. are we in full every neutral fan hates the Patriots again? Or are we like, well, May and Fravel kind of aren't that bad. I mean, May, what is there to really, you know, is he hateable, Billy?

33:05Sheil Kapadia:Drake May. Can people find a way? I think we can get there with him. I think we can hate him. Yeah. He's too pure. He loves his wife too much. They have a cooking show. Like, hey, we've been together since elementary school. Hey, we get it. You found love. You're such a great quarterback.

33:20Nate Tice:Yeah. You're kind of a, everyone has a skeleton kind of person. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

33:24Sheil Kapadia:Or just want him to. You know what I mean? He doesn't even need to have one, but I could just be like, I don't like you. You're too perfect, you know?

33:30Nate Tice:Some people say that about Josh Allen, too. Yeah? It's like he kind of, well, no, I just say from a new little fan.

33:35Sheil Kapadia:If you were to guess, what do you want his downfall to be?

33:37Nate Tice:That he's actually jealous about his wife.

33:40Sheil Kapadia:Really?

33:41Nate Tice:Wow. Because he hides her great. He gives all the great answers, and it seems very natural. I think he's supposed to be a great guy. So it's like, and he has a great relationship, too. But that would be the funny one, that he actually is sneakily jealous.

33:50Sheil Kapadia:He's about to have a kid. You're trying to break up this marriage. have broke at home. What's wrong with you? Jeez.

33:55Billy Gil:He has a nice job at Yahoo. Yeah. Okay. And you're trying to get some kind of clip that's going to get him in trouble. No falsehoods. And some kind of cancellation. We don't want that. Then other people are not going to come on our show. No. Okay. So, all right.

34:09Sheil Kapadia:I appreciate that. But he came on for the wrong reasons. He came on for the wrong reasons. We talked about this. I know. So you plug again. Hey. All right. Because we are closing out. Nate, what's he doing on here? Nate Tice. He's joining the show on behalf of Yahoo Sports and Football 301.
