She's a big fan, isn't she, of mums? She is. She was, actually. Yeah, she was. Nice to know that. Yeah, she's a big fan of yours. Okay. Okay, now this week we're answering more of your questions. Let's see what we've got in store today. Anne-Marie's up first. She's from Switzerland. Wow. Let's get ready. It sounds sarcastic the way you said that. No, I'm getting ready. Okay. Energise myself. This is Anne-Marie coming from Bern, Switzerland. I have a question for you, Shanti.
3:45Yes, Shanti. I've been enjoying watching you and Harnish on your Heavens Night show, and I love your outfit. Have you ever thought it'd be going to go model? Oh, Shanti.
3:54Romesh Ranganathan:Sorry, is she a fucking mermaid? Mother. Yeah, underwater. Underwater she is. I think she was saying she loved your look on Parents Evening. Right. Have you ever considered being a model? Yeah. Well, look, thank you for your message, Ariel. Is it Ariel?
4:15Romesh Ranganathan:Mum, she's been enjoying the Parents Evening show. Yeah. Loves your outfits. Would you consider doing some modelling? If I get a chance, I will. Definitely. Yes, I love to. Have you been offered any modelling? No. When you were a kid, like when you were younger, teenager, you could have become, like, actually, there is another version of mum where she was like an actress, actor, isn't there? Yeah, yeah. Went to India, did some dance and singing training. Dancing, singing, acting. Very talented. How come you didn't do it in the end? After I got married, I was hammered. What? My life wasn't the way I was expected.
4:54so I couldn't do anything.
4:56Romesh Ranganathan:But mum, didn't you walk away from this before you got married? Walk away? Yeah, from acting. I got married when I was 19. Yeah. So came here. Yeah. So when you got married and you came here... And I wanted to have children. Right. That's right. So you just gave up on the acting? Yeah, yeah. I didn't know where to start. Right. What to do. Yeah. Whom to contact. I don't know. Is there any part of you that wishes that you had become an actor? Would I love to? Yeah. If somebody directed me. Yeah. We've got a director here. Yeah, I'm acting now. I'm acting now because of Ben. You're being you now, aren't you?
5:36Romesh Ranganathan:This is not acting. Yes, it's being me. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. You guys could try a scene now. Yeah, let's do a scene now. Should we do a little scene now? Of course. Yeah, I'm ready. Okay. By the way, if anybody liked, we did a little scene a while ago, a role play scene. Yeah. where it was me bringing a girlfriend back to meet you. Will, I think we need to give Will some flowers here. Anybody that was listening to that and watching it and saw the special effects, I guess VFX, they're added to that scene. That's all down to Will. He added some VFX. Thanks, guys. Incredible, guys. Really good. And he didn't tell anybody as well.
6:11Romesh Ranganathan:He let it be a little nugget of discovery. That's what a disgusting phrase. Yeah, that was... But anyway, it was good. So should we do... He might do it now. Okay. So what's the scene, Ben, Will, John? What about this? What about Shanti, you're about to go on a first date and Ramesh is going to play your best friend who's helping you get ready to go. Okay. All right. Are you ready, Mum? Yes, I am. Okay. So what's your character's name? Sylvie? Lila. Lila. Okay, good. And what do you want my character's name to be? Sylvester. Sylvester.
6:51Romesh Ranganathan:it's good i like that so i'm sylvester yeah and you're lila lila okay and you're getting ready for a date yeah is that the same yeah okay yeah lila how are you feeling about this date i'm excited yeah um i like to i'm looking forward to it and i'll go and find out about that my date and I have lots of questions to ask. What sort of questions are you going to ask, Laila?
7:26Romesh Ranganathan:Laila, what's so funny? This is serious, you're trying to find love. But it's a bit rude. Laila, just be honest with me, we're best friends. Yeah. You've known me, Sylvester, for years. What is it you're finding so funny about this date? How is he in bed? Laila, you're so dirty. I know, I know.
7:50Romesh Ranganathan:Please, Laila. I mean, Sylvester. Yes. Don't ask a stupid question, okay? Okay. Ask a right question. Okay. Laila, I just want you to be happy. Yeah. And I want you to have a great date. Yeah. But I don't think, can you promise you one thing? Don't sleep with him on the first date. I'm not going to sleep with him. Yeah. I will ask the question. and how we, you know, groom the date and how he speak, whether he'll play footsie under the thing. Those things I don't like. You don't like playing footsie? Playing footsie under the... No, I know that about you, Laila. You've never liked footsie. No, never.
8:28Romesh Ranganathan:What would you like from this man? Good-looking. Good-looking, Laila. Yeah, you always like the good-looking man. Yeah, yeah. And when I see him, he would be really attractive. Right. Tall, broad shoulder. that's what i think i like i can't stand shorties okay lila yes silvestre
8:53Romesh Ranganathan:you've got to remember it's not all about looks lila
9:00yeah but at least if you're not happy with that date at least i'll be very proud that have gone out with a good looking man right
9:10Romesh Ranganathan:Lila, I'm not sure that's what you should be looking for. Then what are you going to advise me? I think you need to look for what's inside. How the hell am I going to find out with the first date? How? Pinch him? No, but if the first... Touch him at the appropriate place. Lila, you're being a bit silly now. I'm not silly. Lila, you go on a date, good luck, but please don't sleep with her. I won't sleep with you. I won't sleep. Have fun, darling. Thank you so much, Silverstone. You're so good. Advice. Okay, enjoy your day. Good advice, yeah. Okay, bye. End scene. I felt like we could have got out of that about two, three minutes earlier.
9:55Romesh Ranganathan:It felt like it went on a bit. I also felt like mum slipped out of character a couple of times. What gave it away? Just her sort of saying, don't ask stupid questions. That didn't feel like something that Lila might ask Sylvester. It felt like something that Shanti might ask Ramesh. I was going to... My mouth, it was... I'm being naughty. Yeah. I would have asked him, have you got a proper ling-dong?
10:33Go and try one more quick scene. Okay, sure. What's the scenario? What's his... yeah. Shanthi, you are the new James Bond. Yeah. And it's the first time that you're meeting the big villain, which is Romesh. Yeah, yeah. What's his name? I don't know. Well, you can decide. Mr Bond, I see we face off again. Yes. I love to see you. What? Yeah.
11:07Because, because, Mr. Villain, what, have you got a name?
11:13Romesh Ranganathan:My name is not Mr. Villain. What's your name then? Why are you trying to talk like me? I'm not trying to talk like you. I'm trying to find out what's your name and what do you do? You are a, I'm a villain. Villain. A super villain. What the villain do? What the villain do? Yeah.
11:36Why are you asking these cryptic questions Mr Bond?
11:42Romesh Ranganathan:I'm trying to take control of the world's water supply. Water supply? Yes. They call me... One out of what? Aqua King. Aqua King? Yeah. Aqua King. How are I going to do that? Never mind Mr Bond. My job is not to tell you what I'm going to do. Your job is to try and stop me and you won't. I will try and stop you. I have so many other ways. Stop you. Name one. I do the irrigation. Irrigation.
12:21And see. Okay, great. Yeah, well done.
12:23Romesh Ranganathan:Really good. I thought you committed to the character. The irrigation thing was strange. This episode is brought to you by NOW. Are you ready to return to Westeros? 14:23Romesh Ranganathan:There's something so refreshing about how raw, real and razor sharp you both are, especially your mum. Her wit is honestly elite. Well, I would cast your mind back to the Lila and Sylvester scene. Do you think that? Your success has been genuinely inspiring, not just because of the last, because of the heart behind it. I really admire how you look after your mum. And it's something I aspire to do for my parents one day. A question for the legend herself, Shanti knowing what you know now with all the perspective freedom and open-mindedness of this generation if a genie gave you the chance to live your life all over again how do you think you'd do it differently thank you thank you Raji I don't think I will change my life no yeah lifestyle whatever I had gone through I accepted it and now I'm enjoying myself yeah and that's the main thing okay so it doesn't bother me at all.
15:19Romesh Ranganathan:Raji's saying if you had a genie gave you a chance. This is rubbish. Okay? Where the hell you are going to find genie? In that thing? What the fuck is happening? What's that? That's a genie. You're called a genie. Oh, you're rubbing the lamb? Rubbing the lamb. Who robs a lamb like that?
15:47Romesh Ranganathan:Do you remember the bit of Aladdin? I thought I found the magic lamp. How will you rub it? You go like that. The lamp's like this size. Then you're rubbing the cat. What cat? That's the way you... Lamp. Yeah. Lamp. Lamp. Lamp. No, you don't do the... You do on the side. That's the side of the lamp. You don't know which way I've got around the lamp. That's the side of the lamp. Oh, I'm rubbing it. No. Are you? Yeah. No, it looked like you were rubbing the cat and the dog. Where's the fucking dog? That's stroking a cat. Well, that probably. Yeah, yeah. That's a dog. Yeah. That's a lamp. Yeah, yeah.
16:31I would rub it like that. You'd rub it like that? Yeah. More efficient.
16:36Romesh Ranganathan:Okay. Because normally it's a long lamp in a ladder, isn't it? Yeah, like a little lamp like this. An oil lamp. It's not an oil lamp. the genie is inside I know it's not actually an oil lamp there's a genie in it what do you mean oil lamp that's what it looks like it's an oil lamp ok imagine I'm the genie rub the lamp
17:06Romesh Ranganathan:hello Shanti you have awakened the genie from the lamp yes you can talk normally alright Jeannie alright Shanti you have three wishes yes one of the rules is you can't wish for more wishes yeah but apart from that whatever you want is yours what are your three wishes please Shanti

I can't say how much. To live forever. To live forever? Yes. Again, don't take the piss.
18:41Romesh Ranganathan:Genie. Give me a number. Two million? Two million. Boom. Done. You have two million pounds and huge knockers. What's your third wish? Find a good looking man to play with the knockers.
19:06Romesh Ranganathan:Do you not think you might be wasting a wish? If you've got big knockers and a lot of money, that might just take care of itself. What's your third wish? That's the third wish. Someone to play with your knockers. Knockers, yeah. Boom, it's done. He'll be arriving soon.
19:29Oh my.
19:31Romesh Ranganathan:Okay. And scene. You're good, Jeannie. You're good. Thank you. Yeah, I mean, it actually happened. Okay, Raji, hope that helped.
19:42A bit like that.
19:45Romesh Ranganathan:We've got another question. Anonymous. Hi, Romesh.
19:52Romesh Ranganathan:John, don't encourage me. Sorry.
19:57Romesh Ranganathan:Hi, Romesh. Is expensive perfume worth it? I'm someone who likes to smell nice all the time, but my favourite perfume is£90 plus. Sometimes I think, is it worth it? Is smelling nice that important, or is smelling like nothing worth being free? What's your thoughts? Mum, what do you think? I like to have a most expensive perfume. Yes? I don't care how much it is, I will buy it. Why? Because I want to smell good. Yeah, all the time. Why? Why do you want to keep yourself clean and smell everywhere? If you keep yourself clean, you're going to smell fairly neutral. Yeah. Okay. Why is smelling really nice?
20:40The smelling triggers something in your brain.
20:43Romesh Ranganathan:Right. So when it triggers something, the genie gave me a... No, mum, that was... Okay, right, right. We're on to a new bit. Whatever, if I find a good-looking man, if I find a good-looking man, he will say, you smell so good. It will be lovely. Okay. Okay? Thank you so much for your message, Anonymous. I would say whether it's worth spending that amount of money on a fragrance is dependent on one thing. Are you doing this because it makes you happy or are you doing it because you think it makes other people happy? Like if you're craving compliments about how you smell, I don't think that's a good reason to spend all that money.
21:27Romesh Ranganathan:And also it depends on your financial situation. If it's deeply important to you to smell nice, then spend whatever you like and don't let anybody judge you. But if you're doing it because you think that's what other people want from you, that's not a good reason to do anything. Good luck and thanks for staying anonymous. I bet you smell lovely. Yeah. Okay. Mum, if you were to create your own perfume, what would you call it? You know, like a sexy name? Like, you know, like Tom Ford has, like, black orchid or ombre leather. What would yours be? Shanti Ranganathan. My name will be... Something that sounds sexy.
22:05Romesh Ranganathan:Sexy. Sexy Lila. Sexy Lila. Well, why not? Yeah, it's quite a rude one, but... You are the one sexy one. No, but you don't have to, it doesn't mean you have to put the word sexy in it. It's like, what do you want to call this meal and make it sound delicious? Delicious food. You know, use a bit of imagination. Like, I don't know, it's actually quite difficult. Mine would be, I need mine to be masculine. So it'd be. Husky musky. Husky musky is not bad.
22:46Romesh Ranganathan:Husky Musky by Ramesh Ranganathan. Yeah. Ramesh Ranganathan. Yeah. Husky Musky. That's quite good. What about yours? Sexy Lila. Sexy Lila. Husky Musky and Sexy Lila. Husky Musky and Sexy Lila. How about Shanti Ranganathan? Huge knocker.
