In short
A federal government shutdown is imminent after Democrats and Republicans fail to agree on a funding bill; the episode argues Democrats are forcing the shutdown to demand about $1.5 trillion in new spending (including healthcare subsidies for illegal immigrants), while Republicans claim their own bill would keep the government open. It also discusses Trump’s use of AI/deepfake memes to mock Democrats, and Pete Hegseth’s “Department of War” push for stricter military physical standards and removal of DEI/climate/“woke” policies.
Guest backgrounds
No guests appear in the transcript as interview subjects. The episode cites public figures and clips, including AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), Chuck Schumer, John Thune, Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, Bernie Sanders, Sarah McBride, Donald Trump, and Pete Hegseth.
Key claims
Shutdown will be brief and won’t stop essentials; Democrats will “cave” because their constituents (federal workers) are hurt; Trump’s memes are politically effective and not racist; Hegseth’s standards are about readiness and optics.
Notable examples
“Schumer shutdown” framing; AOC quote about not tolerating uninsured Americans losing coverage; Schumer’s criticism of Trump’s deepfake AI video; Charlie Kirk’s 2019 call to shrink government; Hegseth’s directive for PT/height-weight standards across ranks.

You know, sometimes it looks great, but then you cook it and it just doesn't have that flavor or freshness you expect. So finding something reliable has made a huge difference. Wild Alaskan Company really changed that for me. It's the best way to receive high-quality, wild-caught seafood delivered right to your door on your schedule. The first box I got was super easy to use. Everything comes individually portioned and vacuum sealed, so there's no guesswork. I cooked that wild Alaskan sockeye salmon just in a pan with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and it turned out fantastic.
0:34Clean flavor, great texture, and didn't feel like frozen fish at all. I've also tried the wild Pacific cod, which I love. It's light and flaky and really easy to work in when you need a quick dinner. What stood out is that the fish is quick frozen right after it's caught in Alaska, so it locks in that freshness along with the nutrients like omega-3s. And it's clean, no GMOs, no antibiotics, no additives, and it supports sustainable fishing in Alaskan fishermen. They're so confident in the quality that there's 100 % satisfaction, money-back guarantee, so there's no risk in trying it. Go to wildalaskan.com slash Reuben for$35 off your first order of premium wild-caught seafood.
1:09That's wildalaskan.com slash Reuben for$35 off your first order. Hey, Chicagoland, the Wayfair store is in your neighborhood at Edens Plaza and Wilmette. So what are you waiting for? Come see all that's in store. Visit the Wayfair store today at Eden's Plaza and Wilmette. Wayfair, every style, every home.
1:47I don't know if the glue that they are putting your eyelashes on is seeping into your brain, but you are an idiot. You just beheaded that guy? You're supposed to give head, not behead. Remember January 6th? That was the day that I had just switched over. I'd been doing eggs with olive oil. And I switched back to real butter. that morning and then I was watching TV and people were freaking out because a few people with a Lego set or something showed up at the Capitol. Anyway, let's talk about Boner Pills for a minute and then we'll move on the other side. Sydney Sweeney's bath water here.
2:23That's pretty good.
2:32How you doing, people? I'm Dave Rubin. This is The Rubin Report. It is October 1st, 2025. Where is the year going? We got a big show for you, but a couple of housekeeping things right up top. The VIP tickets for Australia. As I mentioned, all the shows sold out immediately. We were able to open up a couple extra seats. So if you want the two-second hug, if you want the primo seat, you want to say hi to me, daverubin.com slash events. I think they opened up like 30 or 40 more seats at each venue for that. And regular tickets are still available. And I'm very excited to get across the world. And I'm just excited for the flight.
3:13I fly first class. My team flies in storage. But also, we have relaunched our merch store in honor of the fall because it is the month of Halloween here. And if you want this beautiful new Rubin Report mug with ghosts on it, daverubin.store. We also have a candle that smells like Sidney Sweeney. And no, it doesn't, no, it smells like pumpkin spice or something. And we've got hoodies and all that good stuff. Okay, let's get to it. The government has shut down, people. I don't know how we're gonna do the show today. What are we gonna do without the government? I mean, how do we even do it? How do we do it?
3:50How do we move forward without the government? Yes, they have shut down. That is the theme today. Let's just dive right and get some info for you up top. Phoenix, scroll for me, would you? Here is, well, let's get to the funny stuff. Then we'll get to the granular stuff. So you remember, Trump put up the meme, the video of Hakeem Jeffries, the Mexican music in the background, the sombrero and all that. Then Hakeem and Chuck Schumer, I mean, the clown car of just nobodies. They showed up at the White House yesterday. Look at this image that, these two images here that Trump put up on Truth Social.
4:24There is Trump, big smile, pointing at Hakeem, the MAGA Trump 2028 hats right there. There's Chuck who put his glasses up a little bit for the meeting, that's very exciting. Okay, so yes, they met, they were talking about, can we get a deal? Trump does the Trump thing, puts the hats there. There's a little bit of trolling, the smiling and the pointing, okay, fine. There's a little bit of show around it. Now let's get to actually what's going on here from Fox News. The federal government is officially entering a partial shutdown on Wednesday after the midnight funding deadline passed with Democrats and Republicans failing to agree on a funding bill.
5:03An earlier attempt by Senate Republicans to pass a short-term extension of fiscal year 2025 government funding levels called a continuing resolution was sunk by Democrats who were furious about being sidelined in shutdown negotiations. The bill, which would have given Congress until November 21st to set the fiscal year 2026 funding priorities, passed the House largely along party lines on September 19th. The Senate is expected to vote on the same bill again on Wednesday with more votes to come through the rest of the week and into the weekend until either a deal is struck or Democrats relent. Democrats had also pushed for a CR to extend Obamacare subsidies that were enhanced during the COVID-19 pandemic, but were set to expire at the end of 2025.
5:45Republican leaders signaled that they were willing to discuss those healthcare dollars later this year, but accused Democrats of risking the entire federal government over their demands. There isn't any substantive reason why there ought to be a government shutdown. This is something that has been done routinely, as I said, 13 different times when the Democrats had the majority, but we are not gonna be held hostage for over a trillion in new spending on a continuing resolution, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said ahead of the vote. Trump told reporters earlier in the day that Republicans did not want to shut down, but warned the GOP could inflict pain on Democrats should the government close.
6:19Okay, so the easy version of all of those words is the Democrats just want more spending. We will talk about what some of that spending is, and of course it is healthcare for illegals and a bunch of other nonsense, but they want more spending to the tune of about$1.5 trillion. And to the backdrop of a Trump administration that for eight months has been trying to cut spending, remember Doge and all of those things, it would be hard for a bunch of Republicans to sign on to that, especially when it comes to, I don't know, healthcare for illegals, some trans stuff and all that. Like it just does not make sense.
6:53So look, I will, as always, because I try to play these all as honestly as possible, both sides are probably guilty to a degree. If the shoe was on the other foot, if the hat was the other way, they'd all be doing it the reverse. Okay, fine. But in this case, in this case, we're going to be okay. The government's going to shut down for a couple of days. We're going to be just fine. Your water is going to run. Your electricity is going to be there. You're going to your Wi-Fi. It's all going to be fine. But the Republicans are basically saying this is completely ridiculous. We've had it. So they are nicknaming this thing the Schumer shutdown.
7:26And here is former House Majority Leader Newt Gingrich, a long time ago, talking about why this will backfire on the Democrats. This is insanity. We know from the work we do at America's New Majority Project that there are two things the American people feel about this shutdown. One, they do not want increased spending. Two, they do not want the government closed. So what do you have? You have the Schumer shutdown where Chuck gets up and says, I'm going to close the government to get more money. Now, that means he's on the wrong side of both issues. All right. So at some level, I would say Newt is correct there that people don't want increased spending.
8:09Like, I just don't know anyone at this point. I'm not well liked or invited to a lot of progressive circles these days. I know they just always want more spending. They just want more money. They want more of your money. And that's how they feel that they're generous, by taking your money and doing what they want with your money. But generally speaking, we know this. This is partly why Trump won. It's why Elon got on board. Again, all the Doge stuff. People just don't want more spending. They want, and any sane person, you just want more of your money back in your pocket and then you can decide what to do with it.
8:36And by the way, that's what gets the economy going. Cause when you have a little more money in your pocket, you spend a little bit more, you might do some repairs to your house. Then the electrician has a little bit more money than he's able to do things with his money, et cetera, et cetera. Like it's a bottom up way. The more that you have your money, as opposed to just keep giving it to the machine and maybe it will trickle it down to you and give you some stuff. As for the second part, whether people want a government shutdown or not that newt said i don't even know about that like frankly like don't threaten me with a good time you know what i mean so okay the government's gonna shut down we're gonna find out who the non-essential workers are i mean if you're non-essential you probably shouldn't have the job in the first place uh we'll get to more on that in a second because i think trump is really going to use this to his advantage to show how much waste there is and how many people we still have hired in the government postage that don't really need those jobs but newt's general point there is People don't want spending and they want the government, they would like the government, like joking aside for a moment or sarcasm aside, they would like the government to just be working for the people.
9:34I think most people agree on that. Here is Chuck Schumer on why he's voting to shut down the government. We have very large differences on healthcare and on their ability to undo whatever budget we agree to through rescissions and through impoundment as well as pocket rescissions. And I think for the first time the president heard our objections and heard why we needed a bipartisan bill. Their bill has not one iota of Democratic input. That is never how we've done this before. When I was leader, we negotiated four times with Republicans, and we never had a shutdown. And so it's up to the Republicans whether they want a shutdown or not.
10:23You know, Chuck, I get it. You're using a lot of government language there, rescissions and all of those things. That's all very impressive. And okay, it may be true that in other times there was more negotiations than right now. But basically what's happening here is people have had it with you guys. People have had it with your radical agenda. They've had it with the woke stuff. They've had it with the end of spending. They've had it with the Inflation Reduction Act that actually increases inflation. They've just kind of had it and Trump's calling you out on that. They don't want healthcare for illegals.
11:00It's not that complex. And you might remember yesterday's show, if your memory serves you, where we played clips of Obama and Nancy Pelosi all the way back in 1995, talking about how we should have closed borders and we shouldn't have illegals running around and all of these things and how they certainly shouldn't get taxpayer benefits. Well, we went in the time machine again, 1996, Also a good year. Here's Chuck Schumer on illegals and benefits and all that stuff. This is an anti-fraud amendment. All over where we go, people say, well, why can't you stop illegal immigrants or others from coming here?
11:39And the number one answer we give our constituents is when they come here, they can get jobs, get benefits against the law because of fraud. And here the gentleman from Florida has put together the most effective anti-fraud measure we can find, without it changing the actions of the government one bit. And we find all this opposition. Ladies and gentlemen of this chamber, what I worry about is that this bill, which started out with good intentions, whether you agree with it or disagree with it, is going to end up being the same kind of thing that the public gets angry with us on. We say we're doing something and we do nothing.
12:23And as I said yesterday, what happened to that guy? It feels like invasion of the body snatchers, right? Where was that guy who was roughly saying, oh, you used to go around and people would say to you, you don't like fraud, we don't like illegals getting benefits, and what are they doing here in the first place and all of those things? that is completely 180 degrees, the polar opposite of what you guys stand for now. You had four years of an auto pen administration where you let in about 21 million illegals. We know about all the sanctuary city stuff. We know about all the benefits they were getting.
12:53We know about all of the other woke stuff that you wanted to fund, like literally chopping off the genitals of children and all of those things. And Trump is calling the bluff. What happened to you from 1996, Chuck Schumer? Now, of course, what do the Democrats do? They call you racist, they call you Nazi, blah, blah, blah. Okay, Trump's been through that before, so that's not working the way it used to. So anytime he does anything now, what do they have to do? Or anytime any of us make an argument that is gonna maybe scale back the government or cut funding for something or put a little money back in your pocket, it's because we all want to kill the children.
13:31Here's AOC on that. What I'm not going to do is tolerate 4 million uninsured Americans because Donald Trump decided one day that he wants to just make sure that kids are dying because they don't have access to insurance. That's what's not going to happen. And so if those senators think that we're having a shutdown because of me, they're free to enter my office and negotiate because what we're not going to do is allow all of millions of people in this country to not be able to afford their insulin or chemotherapy. therapy. So come strike a deal with me if that's what they really think is going on.
14:05Okay. Very impressive. I get it. You're an actress and you're, it's all rehearsed where you're going to move your head and all of those things. By the way, Donald Trump and a guy by the name of Robert F. Kennedy, they are working very hard to lower prescription drugs and you're fighting them all along the way to do that. But of course, what it is, it's, what is it that you're, they're going to kill the kids. They're going, this is what we, we hear this every few months. It's going, they're going to kill the kids. You reverse Roe v. Wade, you're going to kill the women. I think the women are doing okay and the babies are doing much better.
14:38I guarantee you that. Here's Bernie on CNN also telling us that this is going to kill a lot of people. If any of us survive through the end of today, it'll be a freaking miracle. So are you telling me you're willing to vote no every time Leader Thinian votes this up? I am not going to allow. Let me be clear. All right. You can quote me on this. You can quote me on this. We say in Vermont, until the cows come home. I will not let tens of thousands of fellow Americans die because they're thrown off of health care. In my state, people cannot afford a doubling in the health care premiums. We're already paying the highest prices in the country for health care.
15:12People just can't afford it. Bernie, might I make a recommendation for you, for your people when the cows are coming home? You're around a lot of rich people all day long. They give you your private plane to fly around while you tell everybody that capitalism is horrible. So why don't you work with AOC, get a couple of rich people, and you could put a fund together and people will put money in the fund and maybe the fund will get a little bit of interest. And over time, you could put that fund towards giving health care to the people that you're so concerned they're going to die. But you're not going to do that because that would actually mean doing something.
15:46Instead, you're just going to sit there like this. Here's a man named Sarah McBride walking around Congress trying to find people because this is what the Democrats have left. We're barreling towards a shutdown. All my Democratic colleagues are here. I'm going to go search for my Republican colleagues. Republicans, Republicans, we all know there's a government shutdown. Republicans, anyone here?
16:13Is Mike Johnson in here? Let's see if some Republicans are in here. Are there any Republicans in here? Hello? Republicans? Republicans. No Republicans here. That's a guy. Isn't that funny? It's kind of funny. Anyway, here is John Thune, who is a Republican, explaining actually what's going on here. How is it, how is it that the once sane Democrats who wanted less spending, who wanted more of a border, who wanted law and order and things like that. So we're talking about Barack Obama. We're talking about Nancy Pelosi. Particularly, we're talking about Chuck Schumer because he's still running the show for the Democrats right now on the Senate side.
16:55So what has happened that they have become so radical that they are demanding$1.5 trillion in more spending, which would include spending for illegal immigrants to get health care? Well, it's fairly obvious, and Thune lays it out. I'm hoping there are enough reasonable Democrats over there. We have picked up three tonight when we voted on this. We're going to vote on it again tomorrow. Hopefully we'll pick up some more, and eventually we'll get enough to pass this thing in the Senate, keep the government open. But this was all unnecessary. This was all done to satisfy their left political base and Schumer's fear.
17:28I mean, this guy is somebody who is running scared, obviously, every single day from AOC and the other, you know, lefters that he has to answer to. And what you're seeing, at least in, you know, every day now in the Senate, is his reactions and the ways going about the business of the Senate, in this case, shutting down the government. And it's up to the Democrats. I've said this. You saw this earlier. This is our bill. It's very straightforward. Funds the government and avoids a shutdown. And now they've blocked it on two votes. We're going to have another vote tomorrow and they'll probably try and block it again.
18:01But I think people are going to start cracking because they're going to realize this is a losing hand. Yeah. And it looks like every time you guys vote on it, they lose more votes. Yeah, I think that's completely right. And it really shows you the radicalism of the Democrat party. Again, I said this yesterday, I probably at this point, even if the Democrats were the Democrats of 1995, when they kind of made sense, I probably wouldn't be a Democrat at this point. I'm not into, they still want bigger government. They were still a little wacky, whatever. But if you take the words of Barack Obama from 2006, if you take the words of Pelosi from 95 and of Bill Clinton in 92 and Chuck Schumer in 96, all the things that we've showed you over the last couple of days, like there was something sane there.
18:43That thing is now completely gone. And you have Chuck Schumer, who's, you know, it's 20 some odd years later. And Chuck Schumer basically is for, Chuck, he sucks, right? Like Chuck Schumer sucks, basically stands for nothing, but he's not a total radical psychopath Marxist lunatic. but what's happening is that all of the people in his party now, the energy of his party is AOC'd. It is the Jihad crew. It is Mom Dami and all of those things. So he has, he has no juice. There's just nothing left for him to do other than slowly step away from public life. Like the guy, he's just screwed. Sorry, man.
19:20You had chances over the years. You could have really broken away. He tried a couple of times actually, because I don't think he's just wrong about stuff and I don't think he hates America, right? Even, even Timo Obama, who's terrible and stands for nothing. I don't think he's an absolute lunatic radical, but just look at it this way. Who has the momentum in the party? Is it Schumer and Timo Obama or is it all the nutbags? It's the nutbags. I answered my own question. Let's talk about policy genius for a second and then we'll get to whether this will backfire or not. Hint, hint, it will. Have you noticed how easy it is to overestimate costs these days.
19:58A quick grocery run you thought would be 50 is suddenly 80 bucks. Well, here's the surprising part. 72 % of Americans also overestimate the actual cost of life insurance. Okay, so before we dive into whether this will backfire or not, it is worth noting that the people who will be considered non-essential or who are being considered non-essential, isn't that a COVID throwback? As of midnight today, most of them are Democrats.
21:12So the Democrats who are choosing to shut down the government because they're not getting 1.5 trillion in new spending, which nobody wants, including healthcare for illegals, they are putting aside their own base because federal employees, we all know this, we all know how DC goes whack-a-doodle towards the Dems because people want the concentration of power and Democrats are going to usually give that to you. So all of the people who are being pushed aside right now, and the thing with the shutdown is they always get the back pay anyway. So it's a little, it's a little, you know, when a certain set of people are screaming about it, it's like, they're going to get paid anyway.
21:46But if you are not at work today and you are pissed, Well, it's you. You're likely a Democrat, and it's your guys who did this to you. And again, it just shows that the Democrats, they don't have much other than tantrums, identity politics, and all of the children are going to die. Here's former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty on Abby Phillips' show. Again, this woman. I need a better set of adjectives for her. There's just nothing there. Explaining that it's the Democrats' constituents who are going to be hurt by this. The Democrats are in a real box. Who's to say they're going to work it out?
22:18because it doesn't really sound like there's a desire to actually work anything out. They just want more time to do the job that they probably should have done three months ago. But the Democrats here are in a box because they are the party disproportionately of government. Their constituencies disproportionately are going to be hurt by a shutdown. These are Americans. These are Americans who live all over. They live in your state. They live all across the country. Yeah, increasingly in red states because the Trump administration has been moving them to places like Alabama and other parts of the country.
22:51I'll just make a prediction. The Democrats will fold before the Republicans. Well, Democrats are great at folding, so I wouldn't be surprised if that. Yes. Well, Democrats will fold and Democrats are great at folding. I mean, both sides fold for different reasons. But yeah, he's right. It's your constituents, the people who will be most affected by a government shutdown. The people who need the government heat are mostly Democrats. Republicans generally are against the government. Again, I woke up this morning. The government was shut down. I had a nice cup of coffee, took the dog for a walk, watched a little bluey with the kids.
23:30Everything's fine. Everything's fine. Here's Donald Trump on how the layoff situation is going to work out. Mr. President, as we inch closer to a government shutdown this morning, you said you might do a lot of layoffs. If Doge is already reducing the federal workforce, why is it necessary to link more federal jobs cut to a shutdown? Well, the Democrats want to shut it down. So when you shut it down, you have to do layoffs. So we'd be laying off a lot of people that are going to be very affected. And the Democrats, they're going to be Democrats. As you know, we, this country, no country can afford to pay for illegal immigration, health care for everybody that comes into the country.

24:44Wayfair, every style, every home. They'd be Democrat things, but they want open borders. So that's the key part of all of this. What's going to happen now, I think, first off, the Democrats will cave on this. Mark my words. They just don't have enough First off, they have a split party of like a couple roughly sane people, if you could even say that, and then the lunatics. So they have their own internal split. Republicans, for the most part, even though there's some weird stuff going on on the right, Republicans mostly are together on this. But what Trump's really saying there is, OK, so we're going to have to lay off people because of the Democrat shutdown.
25:21You guys are going to hurt your own constituents because it's the people that are going to be temporarily or permanently laid off are Democrats. And Democrats tend to need more things or want more things, let's say, than the government. But then he also hinted that we are going to find out if any of these people basically should have jobs in the first place. As we have gone through Doge and as we have looked at the books and as the departments are getting slimmer and trimmer and as Bobby Kennedy has fired an awful lot of people and as Tulsi goes into intelligence and they start looking at things, we are slimming down the government.
25:55This might be another moment where if we don't have the government, the government is shut down for four days and we're suddenly like, wow, there, you know, here, there was another 6 ,000 people that we really didn't need them to do much. Well, then they probably won't come back to work. And now let me, you know, there's a lot of people that have been using Charlie Kirk's name to push their own political agenda and exposing old texts of his and claiming they know what he thought about things and everything else. But I thought this was, this is Charlie in his own words, and I think it is quite applicable to what's going on.
26:29This is from January, 2019. We should use this government shutdown as a chance to shrink government permanently, privatize the TSA, privatize the FAA air traffic controllers, abolish the IRS, remove non-essential workers. If workers aren't essential, they should be working. They shouldn't be working the government in the first place. Connor, leave that up for just a So just to whittle down each one, privatize the TSA. Absolutely an argument for that, right? You go to the TSA, you go to any airport. I recommend anyone go to JFK Airport in New York and tell me that this is the best and the brightest.
27:03There might be a way to privatize that. Go back. Privatize the FAA air traffic controllers. Okay, you might make an argument that that's better done via the government, but usually things work privately. Abolish the IRS. I mean, I can get on board that. Imagine if you had more of your money and then we had a slimmer and trimmer government that had to figure out how to stay within its means. That would be pretty good. Remove non-essential workers. If workers aren't essential, they should be working the government in the first place. That probably is the big point, right? And that is what Trump basically just said.
27:31We're gonna shut this thing down for a little bit, or the Democrats basically are, in essence, are forcing the shutdown, and maybe we'll find out that a whole bunch of people are gonna go home and play PlayStation for a couple hours and then realize that they actually weren't doing much work. And that is the exact point that Russ Vought, who is the director of the office management and budget made on Larry Kudlow's show yesterday. If there is a budget shutdown, as our own chat program suggested, almost inelectably will be a budget shutdown. Then you have the authority to reduce the federal employee employee count by roughly how much?
28:09Let it be said, there are all manner of authorities to be able to keep this administration's policy agenda moving forward. and that includes reducing the size and scope of the federal government and we will be looking for the opportunities to do. So congratulations Dems, you just gave Trump an opportunity to fire more people, to look at who actually is essential. The idea that we call some people that work in the government non-essential and some are essential as if the Congress people are essential. You wanna find the least group of essential people, how about get rid of Congress? That might be something.
28:45These are the most ineffective, hacky losers in dork town. So what really, that's a sentence that's never been said before. But what really is this all about? Is this really about budgets and essential workers and dollars and cents? Or is it really about memes and AI? Because what kicked off the fight here, of course, we're just going to show you a five second version of it, was this AI video of Thibaut Obama that Trump put on Truth Social. Look guys, there's no way to sugarcoat it. Nobody likes Democrats anymore. We have no voters left because of all of us. Okay, so Trump puts this thing up. And again, as I said, it's like, we are really entering the uncanny valley now of where we will not know what is AI and what is not.
29:28The boy stuff's getting better. You know, the big thing with AI for a long time was that the mouth didn't quite match the words. That's changing. Like, it's just getting better. And what was the AI new technology we've been looking at? Sora 2. Sora 2. I mean, there is so much incredible stuff coming out that you will not know what is real soon enough. And you might argue Trump shouldn't be trolling these guys or anything else, but okay, Trump puts that up. It makes a point, right? It really does make a point because you have Timo Obama there and the music, the Mexican music, and it's like they care more about illegals than they care about our citizens.
30:02That Trump knows what he's doing. This is, that's the part of the game. But what he really is good at is he then gets them to freak out about these things, right? Because if they're not telling you that the children are going to die, they're going to freak out about memes. Here is Chuck Schumer on the very racist meme that we just showed you. Yesterday, the president posted an offensive deep fake AI video of Leader Jeffries and me. With sombreros, fake music, impersonating my voice through AI, it wasn't me. Talking even more lies about health care and immigration. Listen to this, America. Hours away from a shutdown, which we don't want, the American people don't want, the president is busy trolling away on the Internet like a 10 year old.
30:53And that's exactly why Americans are going to blame him if the government shuts down. That's another proof point. Chuck, I will give you the tiny piece there. I'll give you the tiny piece there that in a different world, in a different situation, in a different timeline, in a different part of the multiverse, would it be nice if Trump didn't do those things at this point? Probably. would it be nice if we operated in like a completely professional way and everything else? Of course it would. But I would say it's worse when you guys run around saying Republicans are going to try to kill everybody and everybody else is Nazis and racist and everything else.
31:28I would say that's far worse than a deep fake AI video. He also said it was fake music, but I'm pretty sure that was legitimate cucaracha. I mean, I know the cucaracha and that was the cucaracha. Here is representative, where's she from? New Mexico? Was it New Mexico? Teresa Fernandez, and she's freaking out over that thing too. That's right. And then what does that shameful man do? After a meeting where you're supposed to be working out details, where you're supposed to be negotiating a deal, you post something that draws a sombrero and a mustache on the leader with whom you're supposed to be...
32:05Why is that racist, though? The sombrero is a Mexican hat that people enjoy. The mustache is something that some people, 70s porn actors have. It's what I said yesterday. If you're drinking grape soda and you say you like grape soda, that doesn't mean you don't like black people. Nothing, everything is racist to them. You say you like something, there's nothing racist. He's pointing out via meme because a meme is worth a thousand words, right? He's pointing out that you people seem to care more about the illegals and their ability to get health care, which is American citizens' money, than you care about American citizens.
32:47Here's Timu Obama, and he's very, look at him emoting. This is not easy for a Timu situation to emote, but he emotes. Donald Trump posted this AI video featuring myself and Chuck Schumer. It was a fake video. It was a disgusting video. It was a racist video. It was unbecoming of anyone purporting to be the president of the United States of America. But y 'all, I ain't scared. Y 'all, I ain't scared. You pandering butts. Well, what did Trump do in response to these people freaking out. There's nothing, again, there's nothing racist about it. You absolutely can make the argument that Trump should not be doing this.
33:42And as I said, in some other version of this reality of the simulation, could things be a lot more proper and all those things? Yes. But this is where we're at. This is where we're at. And he's punking you guys into just this stupid stuff and you fall for it every time. So he's basically crying. Chuck's upset that it's not the real cucaracha. And then what does Trump do?
34:08I'm sorry. I do think it's funny. It is what it is. And you know what? How about this? If you really think Trump's racist over this stuff and you really don't like what he's doing and you think you're being beaten by this stuff and everything else, how about take a moment of introspection and say, why is it that he keeps associating us? Like, what is it about this meme that's working? And you might realize that what's working about the meme is the average person watches that. And then, and that's why a meme is worth a thousand words, right? Like why do memes travel fast? What's the whole purpose of a meme?
34:51You get an image, usually just a still image with text on it that really just like explain something to you really quickly, right? That's what memes are about. That's why they jump through the internet so quickly or the video memes, it's the same thing. They're telling you something that is true using humor. And that's what Trump is doing. And all you guys can do is say he's racist about it and never explain why it is you want my money to pay for an illegal's healthcare. But we've had it with this general sense. I think what's really happening here is we've, most Americans, I think at this point, have had it with this general malaise of mediocrity that has been pushed upon us.
35:27Nothing is ever great anymore. We're all kind of the same. It's equity over excellence, all of these things. And the other story this week is that our new Secretary of War, it's not the Secretary of, he's not the Secretary of Defense anymore, the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, he brought in all the generals and explained no more fat mother effers. We'll talk about that in just a second, but first perplexity. Let me ask you, how much time do you spend every day on a web browser? clicking, typing, searching, scrolling through endless tabs, it all adds up, right? Well, there's a new AI-powered browser from Perplexity called Comet, and it's completely changing the way we use the internet.
36:06Using Comet feels like having a personal assistant living right inside your browser. And I don't just mean giving you answers. It actually does things for you. Comet can click, type, scroll, search, and take action across the web in real time just like you would. It can shop for you, book travel, make reservations, summarize videos or articles, send emails, schedule meetings, and even unsubscribe you from spam. And it all happens while you get back to your day. I've tried it myself, and it's a game changer. For example, I asked Comet to find me a few products across multiple sites and find me the best deal.
36:36It handled the whole process, searching, scrolling, pulling up prices, and saved me a ton of time. Pretty cool, right? Well, you've got to see this in action. Download Perplexity's new AI web browser, Comet, at pplx.ai slash Rubin, and let your browser actually work for you. Plus, right now, when you download Comet, you'll get a month of Rumble Premium for free. That's pplx.ai slash Rubin. Go now and take back your time online. All right. So you may remember when Donald Trump was picking out his cabinet, I kept saying that Pete Hegseth was going to be an absolute all-star because not only did he have the track record and the resume, but as a former TV host, right, he's hosted shows on Fox for about a decade, that he knew how to present the ideas.
37:19He knew how to be in front of the camera. He knew how to communicate all of those things. I also know him a bit from doing shows together and things like just a good guy. He's a good guy who loves the country and all of those things. But I really thought he was the double threat because of that. You got the resume and then you have the skill set to communicate, which is what a secretary, virtually any secretary that's gonna be out there communicating these things needs. Well, I think it was really proven. I think my theory was really proven yesterday because he brought basically all the generals in And he sat him down and he said, we are now the Department of War and things are going to be a little different here, you donut eating freaks.
37:59With physical fitness and appearance. If the Secretary of War can do regular hard PT, so can every member of our joint force. Frankly, it's tiring to look out at combat formations or really any formation and see fat troops. Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world. It's a bad look. It is bad, and it's not who we are. So whether you're an airborne ranger or a chair-borne ranger, a brand new private or a four-star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass your PT test.
38:38And as the chairman said, yes, there is no PT test. But today at my direction, every member of the joint force at every rank is required to take a PT test twice a year, as well as meet height and weight requirements twice a year, every year of service. Also today at my direction, every warrior across our joint force is required to do PT every duty day. Should be common sense. Most units do that already. Pete, I think you proved my point. He can communicate it. And he also, it's the policy and the communication. Of course, we shouldn't have fat soldiers and generals and people that can't hit the minimum height and weight requirements and people that can't do the basic physical things that you might need to do as a soldier.
39:29And then the fact that he says it's across every rank and he's sitting there with some very high ranking people that have been in the military for a long time and a lot of them have big ass pot bellies. And you're right, maybe they're not gonna be going to the shores of Europe with the guns, But as he said, it's not the right look. It's not the right look. Like there's nothing, there's, I saw a whole bunch of people, all the lefties, usual suspects, freaking out about this. He's fat shaming and meh, meh, meh. It's like, no. If we at our department of war can't have basic standards, this is exactly, well, in some sense, it's the reverse of what has happened in New York City.
40:04Over the years, as New York City defunded the police and has had administrations that can keep attacking the NYPD, what has happened? The old timers, many of them have retired. A lot of them now have jobs here in Florida. And then what happened? They couldn't get people to become police officers in New York City. So they had to lower the requirements, the physical fitness requirements, right? And do you think over time that's good, whether it's a police department or a military? Of course not. But it's not just the physical fitness part of this. Hegseth is also getting rid of the bad ideas that perhaps are far more dangerous than the physical fitness part.
40:39Yeah, we're talking about DEI and the rest of it. Take a look. This administration has done a great deal from day one to remove the social justice, politically correct and toxic ideological garbage that had infected our department to rip out the politics. No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses. no more climate change worship no more division distraction or gender delusions no more debris as i've said before and will say again we are done with that and man that makes you proud to be an american it's like the adults are in charge again no more of this diversity bs no more equity in in who we're gonna hire based on skin color or anything No more division within our ranks.
41:31How did you get that promotion in the military? Well, I'm black and trans. Well, okay, and I'm fat. Well, okay, that's great, really proud of you. But that doesn't mean you should be a four-star general. This is basic, basic stuff. We're just returning to what any sane politician or military leader would have wanted in 1950. I know the left really fears the 1950s, but 1950, it was probably better in a lot of respects. Here's Donald Trump on, because he also spoke to the troops and to the admirals and leaders. Here he is talking about how you better do some of the things they're asking. Otherwise, you could be considered non-essential pretty quickly yourself.
42:16I'm going over. I'm going to be meeting. I'm going to be meeting with generals and with admirals and with leaders. and if I don't like somebody, I'm going to fire him right on this spot.
42:33Slight aside there, but did you notice that Trump's tie was particularly long, almost comically long there? He does. Can we get a screenshot of that for just a second? He does like the longer tie. It's supposed to go to about your belt buckle. But let's see here. Let's see here. We're going to go down, down, down. I think this is just a little too. Where is it? Where is it going? Where? Where? Whoa. Okay. It's just a bit long. It's just a bit long, Mr. President. I've been very fair to you. I think everyone sees that. We're gonna just... Let's up that thing maybe two inches. That aside, yeah, okay.
43:04He is the chief executive. We voted him in. And if he doesn't like these people, if they're pushing all of this bad stuff, they can't work in the Department of War anymore. Now, over on The View, women are very concerned that fat people will be losing their jobs. I'm actually really befuddled by why he did that. The optics were terrible, meaning all of our top military brass are all in one place, and we spent$6 million to get them there. That didn't make a lot of sense to me. It also didn't make a lot of sense to me that he was saying that he was going to toughen physical standards and review the anti-hazing policy by sort of implementing a hazing policy.
43:46And then also he said he was going to return to the highest male standard for combat positions because the troops were fat. I just I don't understand how that was supposed to be an uplifting message for our military. He was referring to Colonel Sanders. It was it was just it was it was really a bizarre thing. He started talking about woke DEI policies. Final thing. I did not like that Pete Hegseth, who did serve his country, but chose to denigrate the service of others. He name-checked three generals, two that I surveyed. And fat-shaming. And fat-shaming, Colonel Sanders. She has a writer that hands her jokes during the show.
44:26She gets texted jokes during the show. I mean, that was an award-winning joke right there. So, Sonny, it's like the optics. The optics actually were great. You got our generals in a room, and the Department of War, the head of the Department of War, told them, hey, shape up. Let's be better at this. Let's make countries afraid of us again. What could be better than that? That's number one. and why are you upset about tougher physical standards? Tougher physical standards. We're not demanding that of people that work at Best Buy. We're asking our warriors to have tougher physical standards. And then just this obsession with they just love fat people.
44:59They're all on Ozempic and they love fat people. It's very weird. But here's Joy, one more from The View. Here is Joy and she's very concerned that we are all going to die within 3.5 years. If you guys think that we can survive another three and a half years of this. I think you're delusional. Every day, there's some nihilistic thing. It's only Tuesday, Joy. Can we not start there? I mean, I hate to be Debbie Downer, but every day this guy is undoing something in this country that we value. Every day. Every day is a shock and awe here. I'm actually not trying to fat shame anybody, but why is it?
45:35What is he undoing? Our warriors should be fit. we're not going to survive this shit. What are you talking about? Joy, we will all be here in 3.5 years, right? Like everything's going to be fine. We might be a little bit safer. We might be a little more competent. There might be a little less of the nonsense that people like you have been pushing into our institutions and into our culture, but everything's going to be fine. And if you guys can control your radicals, actually it could be the best run that America's ever had because we are on an AI revolution, the cusp of an AI revolution. The future could look incredibly, incredibly bright and inspirational and almost unimaginable because of what's happening technologically right now.
46:21But I know you're obsessed with a man that you think is Hitler and the desire for fat people to fight in wars. What this all reminds me of is a quote from the great G.K. Chesterton, who of course was a philosopher and English poet, the 20th century. And here we go. Tolerance. I've read this to you guys many times. He could have lost a little weight, but he wasn't in the army. The point was he was a poet. A poet can look like that. Tolerance is the virtue of the man with no convictions. We will get to more on men with no convictions and what it does when you let them lead in just a second. But first, Rumble Premium.

Okay, so since I've read that quote to you before, let me read one other for you, which I think will illustrate what's going on here. And you know this one. And this is a meme. This is why memes work. Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times. Now we've been at the fourth panel there for quite some time. We've had weak men and weak men in dresses and fat men and creating hard times.
48:05But we are now getting out of that. What Pete Hegseth is trying to do and what Donald Trump is trying to do is now create a generation of strong men. And that doesn't mean they're mean. And it doesn't have anything to do with the patriarchy and putting women back in the kitchen. It means that we are going to take responsibility for our lives, not outsource all of our autonomy. And we're going to fight for a country and a culture and a civilization that will be good and it will be good for everybody. But not everybody's on board that. So now let's go over to Chicago. And as you know, they have a racist mayor by the name of Brandon Johnson.
48:41This is a man who does not care that usually it's about five to maybe a dozen, sometimes more, young black men are killed on his streets every weekend. Many more than that are shot every weekend. And what he does, because he is a weak man with the wrong eye, he pretends he's a strong man. You're gonna see right now. Now he's going to the gym and he's going to be yelling and that righteous anger that AOC had before, Bernie with the hand thing. But it's all fake because they're actually weak because what they want to do is outsource everything to the government so the government can tell them what to do.
49:14Here is Brandon Johnson, who has largely destroyed Chicago. Donald Trump's trying to clean up Chicago, explaining that jails and law enforcement and all of these things, none of it actually helps. It all makes things worse. The fact of the matter is we are driving violence down in this city and we're using every single resource that's available to us. Jails and incarceration and law enforcement is a sickness that has not led to safe communities. Jail and incarceration and law enforcement is a sickness. Why don't you ask that to some of the parents of the dead black teens that are no longer with you in your city?
49:50You might want to ask them about that. And if they think that the problem was that jail and law enforcement and policing was the problem? Or was it actually lack of policing? Was it, did it have something to do with the destruction of the nuclear family, et cetera, et cetera? But someone like him, you might look at him and go, well, he doesn't look weak, right? He doesn't look weak because he does look like he works out, he's kind of big and he's angry, right? They all do the same exact emoting. It's the exact same fake emoting. Their ideas are bad, so they have to fake emote. You watch Donald Trump speak and he's not fake emoting.
50:21You watch Pete Hegseth, he's calmly explaining what's going on here, right? Cause he's talking about logic. Oh, we should have warriors who have basic fitness acumen, right? You watch AOC, it was that fake emoting about everything. And Bernie with the hands, you cannot, right? And then you watch this guy and it's all law enforcement doesn't do anything. It's all fake because they are weak. They are weak. And you know, one of the things that I mentioned earlier in the week, because you know, this, I was, Joseph just told me that Zorhan Mondami, he's on right now, is it right now? So I don't want you to change the channel.
50:53I want you to keep watching the Ruben Bort best show online. But apparently Zorhan Mamdami is on The View right now. We'll obviously cover that. But one of the things I've been talking about with Zorhan is that my concern is that he will fake it. Once he becomes mayor, they can fake it for a while. The budgets don't all collapse at once. They turn on and off the violence and the Hamas people and all the protesters and all that. And they can control it for a while. And my fear is that once people see, oh, it worked for a little bit, that you're going to see it popping up all over the country. Well, the progressive maniacs are starting to spread throughout the country.
51:32We know what's happening in Minnesota. We know what's happened in Chicago. Here is Georgia representative Ruha Roman, and she wants to be the governor of Georgia because she's a good old southern gal. My first job out of college was at the Center for Civil and Human Rights, where I got to learn how to organize with incredible legends like the late John Lewis. Now I have the honor of representing tens of thousands of Georgians in the state house. I'm as Georgia as we come. I'm also the granddaughter of Palestinian refugees. My family lost everything and had to rebuild from nothing. My family's history and the skills taught to me by civil rights heroes made me never back down from a fight.
52:16I'm actually going to not offer much commentary on that other than to say, I think you see what the problem is. You get it. And this thing is spreading. And we should all think about that. And you should be thinking about where you look. She's not going to live. She's not going to win. right she's not gonna win but it's just enough of this stuff enough of this stuff okay yes because you're palestinian you should be the governor of whatever um but these people this set of lefties that are weak are destroying it's not what they're destroying here in america it's what they're destroying all over the world and from a across the pond from a british perspective Keir Starmer is probably the best example of a weak man creating hard times.
53:03And that is largely why Britain is starting to become a failed society. Here he is explaining that free speech is very valuable to the British, but you're probably racist and you should shut up. Free speech is a British value and we have guarded it for centuries. But if you incite racist violence and hatred, That is not expressing concern. It's criminal. And do you see why we needed the First Amendment, guys? Because free speech is great, but if you incite... Now, what he's not really saying there, the thing is, if you incite racism, that's interesting. If you incite racism, it's criminal. Now, if you were to incite a violent act, that is actually criminal.
53:45I'm talking about from an American perspective, but it's a very interesting use of words there. because if you incite violence, right? So you say you have a gang of group of people, hey, let's go kill that guy. That is not protected free speech. But are you allowed to incite racism? You actually are. Now, would we all prefer that people don't? Would you prefer that people not hate people because of their race or their creed or some other immutable characteristic? Of course. But are you allowed to say, are you allowed to say, I don't like black people? Yeah. are you allowed to say, I don't like Jews?
54:19Are you allowed to say, I don't like white people? I'm pretty sure that's in the Democrat party platform. So are you allowed to say those things? You are. And then the hope is that free speech on the other side of that will counter that. That's a very Western idea. It's a very thoughtful idea that in essence came out of the enlightenment, but it's an important piece of what makes a society free that you can say as much as you want, but they're doing something very different there. If you incite racism, and that's quite literally why they are arresting people for putting up memes online. And unless we want that coming here, we better watch out about that.
54:59I thought this was quite good from Wall Street Maverick. So of course, what I mentioned before, weak men create hard times, and there's cure, and here are the hard times. Who are these people? Why are they wandering into your country? Why are they all seemingly 25 to 35? And they're all men and they all have phones and they don't look that hungry. They don't look like they're fleeing genocide or anything else. Where are the women? Where are the children? And guess what, Keir Starmer? There's your hard time and it is on the way. Let me connect this to something that Jordan Peterson said quite some time ago, but that weakness, that's the theme here, right?
55:38Like these weak people, these weak people, whether it's the generals that are weak because they can't fit the standards that their soldiers should fit, whether it's the analysts like Joy Behar who are upset about that, whether it's the leaders that let in all of these people that are there to destroy their country and then they arrest the people who are trying to defend their country. What does weakness do? Well, it makes things much, much, much worse. Weak people are a problem in general. And I don't mean physically weak. I mean cowardly, let's say, and deceitful, because I'm thinking it more in terms of moral weakness.
56:14Well, there's a variety of reasons. First of all, if you can't support your own weight, let's say, then someone else has to do it, and that's not good. And then if you don't make your pathway, if you don't pick a forthright and useful and noble pathway through life, then you'll become bitter and too hurt by the tragedy of existence. And then you tend to seek your revenge wherever you can get it. And that's not good. So it's a mistake on all fronts. It's not good for you. It's not good for your family. It's not good for the community. It's certainly not a good medium to long-term strategy because life is very, very difficult.
56:55And you have to be prepared for that. So I think you can see how we're tying this all together. The weakness, the bitterness, and you know, it's funny because he said not physical weakness and obviously the Hegseth stuff is about physical weakness, but it is also about mental weakness. But if you just, if you don't, what it really is about is if you don't take responsibility for your life, you will outsource all of your decisions to people who don't really care about you. And now I want to tie this to what we were doing earlier, which is remember the Democrats, You're gonna kill all the kids, AOC.
57:29You're gonna kill 4 million kids, Bernie Sanders. You're gonna kill all these people, blah, blah, blah. And we want lower prescription medical costs and blah, blah, blah. Well, guess who's doing it? It's the guy that they hate. Listen to this from the Daily Wire. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that popular medications will be offered at massively discounted prices. Known as most favored nation prices as pharmaceutical behemoth Pfizer commits to a$70 billion investment to the manufacturer of drugs in the US. A new website called TrumpRx will allow Americans to purchase drugs directly from the government rather than going through insurance.
58:03Virtually all drugs will be discounted on TrumpRx, the White House said. Pfizer stepped up with a$70 billion investment, a shift towards making drugs in the U.S., a shift towards making drugs in the U.S., which the Trump administration has addressed as a national security issue. The company is also offering all medications to Medicaid at most favored nations' prices, which are prices comparable to or less than the cost of other nations' drug prices. Additionally, all new medications will be offered at most favored nation prices. Dermatitis medication, for example, will be discounted by 80%, and that refers to the net price, which is what consumers are actually paying.
58:39Meds for postmenopausal osteoporosis, which is extremely common, will be discounted 85%. Migraine medication and rheumatoid arthritis drugs will be discounted 50 % and 40 % respectively. Today marks the end of the great American ripoff, but it also marks the beginning of the end of a great American tragedy, something I've seen as a physician at the bedside, patients getting spun up into a financial rage to try to get enough money to pay for a drug, a drug that's five or 10 times more expensive than the same drug in France or Germany or the UK, he said. So Donald Trump, the man that they are telling you wants to kill all those kids.
59:16The man that they are telling you wants everybody to not have health insurance and not have to pay too much for pharmaceuticals and prescription drugs and all those things. Well, there's actually what he's doing. And maybe you don't like that he's working with Pfizer on it because should we really trust Pfizer after COVID? I didn't love the idea of seeing the CEO of Pfizer in the White House. That guy, Albert Borea, who lied about everything during COVID. But a$70 billion investment so that people can get drugs that they need. Now, we can always have that conversation about why do they need the drugs in the first place?
59:46And Bobby Kennedy has done a lot on that. Let's get food poisoning out. Let's stop doing the seed oil thing. Let's get outside. Let's get some sun, et cetera, et cetera. But at least it's a step. And once again, it's an exposure of their nonsensical. Donald Trump's killing everybody. Oh, he's not. But speaking of Bobby Kennedy, I thought this was quite good. He talks about his son thanking him for some of the things that he is doing. This would not have happened without President Trump's leadership. I told my son last, I were all under secrecy about this, but I told my son late last night, a 27-year-old son, Connor, who was a very liberal Democrat, I told him this was happening, and he just paused for a minute and he said, thank you, Dad, I'm so proud of you.
1:00:35Because this is something Democrats have wanted for 20 years, Republicans have wanted for 20 years. Everybody has said they're going to do it. that nobody has even taken a step towards doing it. And the reason was because it was such a daunting task. You know, look at those guys standing behind Bobby right there. First off, that he admits that his son is a liberal Democrat. I don't even know what that means anymore. So I guess his son's a progressive. That's kind of crazy, but okay. Like, it is what it is. But that he can tell that story up there and that his son is appreciative of that. So first off, I suspect his son is not a totally far-gone lunatic, but look at those people behind him.

And they are lowering the cost of drugs for the American people while AOC is telling you that Trump wants to kill all of the kids. Here's one more from Bobby Kenny. Here he is on Rogan talking about a book that he read that had a little something to do with his own evolution and how he can help people now. About a week before, no, about two weeks before he died, my father gave me a book.
1:02:22And the book was a book by Camus. Camus had written this book called The Plague. My father gave it to me and he told me with this kind of peculiar intensity, I want you to read this. and he had given me, he always gave me stuff to read and poetry and stuff, but he said this with this directness that after he died, I ended up reading that book about three times trying to figure out kind of what the message was that he was, you know, he was trying to give me, and the book is about a doctor who is in a city in North Africa where there is an unnamed plague ravaging the city. It's a walled city and it's quarantined.
1:03:06And the city is a, the plague is something nobody's ever seen before. And most of the people who get it are dying. It's a huge infection fatality rate. He's trying to say, I don't want to go out there because if I go out there I'm gonna catch it. And I can't really help these people anyway because we don't know, you know, anything about this disease. We don't know how to treat it. And everybody who gets it dies. So why, you Why don't I just stay here and wait it out? And then in the end, he ends up leaving, and he ends up just comforting people. In the Stoic cosmology, Sisyphus is a happy man because he put his shoulder to the stone.
1:03:50He was given a duty, and he does his duty. And that sacrifice that he makes brings order to a chaotic universe. He was given a duty and he does his duty. And that's what brings order to a chaotic universe. I mean, that's a little bit of Jordan Peterson. It's a little bit of everything we've described here. Like if we all start doing our duty, if we take responsibility for our lives, we will be less reliant on these people who seemingly lie about everything, who want things from you, who want you to be weak and decrepit and pathetic and dependent. And how about just enough of that? But I would like to end the show today with something a little bit different.
1:04:30Tonight begins the, it's the 25-hour fast for Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. It is the day of atonement. I will be fasting for 25 hours, and I assure you at about hour 18, you do not wanna talk to me. But it is the holiest day of the year. And I saw a video this morning of my friend, Dennis Prager. And Dennis Prager, as most of you know, right after the election last year, just a few days after the election, Dennis took quite a spill getting out of the shower, and he had had some fusions already in his spine. And he fell in such a way that Dennis has basically been a quadriplegic for almost a year right now.
1:05:08I visited him in the hospital. He's had a lot of trouble breathing. So you have a breathing. He has had a breathing tube, which, of course, when you have that, even though his mind is there, and technically he'd be able to speak, if you have a breathing tube, you can't speak. So that's been on and off. His breathing has gotten better. They've transferred him to some other hospitals. but he does not have use of his limbs it has been it's an unimaginable tragedy beyond it's almost beyond comprehension and he really you know I always tell you guys like I've met all the people I've ever wanted to meet and heroes of mine and musicians and athletes and all of these things Dennis Dennis I put at the top right up there with with Jordan as the single best person that I have met doing all of this who has such an unbelievable impact on me and when we lived in LA although Dennis is not technically a rabbi.
1:05:56We did go, he would, during the high holidays, the Jewish high holidays, he would host, basically he would have sort of a makeshift temple where hundreds and hundreds of people would go, usually around 500 people, and Dennis would do services. And it was unbelievably meaningful for me and kind of brought me back into the fold on some of these things. So to the backdrop of tomorrow being the holiest day in the Jewish year, and we'll be pre-taping our show, so I will not be live tomorrow. there was a video that went up this morning. Marissa from PragerU, who's Marissa Streit, who's the CEO of PragerU.
1:06:28She chatted with Dennis. They were able to get the breathing tube out for a little bit. And for the first time, asked Dennis about his condition and his life. And I watched it and I thought it was unbelievably meaningful and powerful and showed Dennis his spirit and perhaps offers us all a little something. So let's take a look. Would I wish I could move my limbs? I dream about moving my limbs almost every night. Of course I would love it, but I'm alive and I have my loved ones. And I have the public. And I think I could still make a difference. Would I rather be dead? It's inconceivable. I love life and I love so many people.
1:07:13Of course, I love my wife and my kids and my grandkids. Now I'll tell you one other interesting thing. I have a book on happiness. It's 26 years ago it was published by HarperCollins. Happiness is a serious problem. I would not change a word. That is how philosophically prepared I was for this terrible thing that I have encountered. I mean, what I wrote in there, like about expectations and, you know, my motto, if nothing's horrific, life is terrific. I mean, powerful, powerful. And there's a guy who's lost the physical use of his body. And he still has his mind. And he still has something to fight for.
1:08:05And still believes he can make a difference. And he absolutely can. And as I understand it, he's going to be moving actually to Miami. For medical purposes, they're going to move him down here. I'm going to try to spend as much time as I can with him. Maybe I can do some weekly learning with him or something. Because he does still have an awful lot to give. And I just thought that would be the right way to end today's show. before we roll into the holiest day of the year for the Hebrews out there. So I thank you guys for watching. We've got a postgame show in moments, rubinport.locals.com, pre-tape tomorrow.
1:08:36And then on Friday, live in studio, Dinesh D'Souza is gonna be my co-host. He has a new doc out there. We're gonna talk a bit about that and then we'll just recap the week and all that good stuff. I thank you for watching. And reminder, there are some extra VIP tickets still available. We just released a bunch more, daverubin.com slash events. If you wanna join us in Australia, that is all, goodbye.
1:08:59We'll be right back.
