You know, sometimes it looks great, but then you cook it and it just doesn't have that flavor or freshness you expect. So finding something reliable has made a huge difference. Wild Alaskan Company really changed that for me. It's the best way to receive high-quality, wild-caught seafood delivered right to your door on your schedule. The first box I got was super easy to use. Everything comes individually portioned and vacuum sealed, so there's no guesswork. I cooked that wild Alaskan sockeye salmon just in a pan with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and it turned out fantastic.
0:34Clean flavor, great texture, and didn't feel like frozen fish at all. I've also tried the wild Pacific cod, which I love. It's light and flaky and really easy to work in when you need a quick dinner. What stood out is that the fish is quick frozen right after it's caught in Alaska, so it locks in that freshness along with the nutrients like omega-3s. And it's clean, no GMOs, no antibiotics, no additives. And it supports sustainable fishing and Alaskan fishermen. They're so confident in the quality that there's 100 % satisfaction, money-back guarantee, so there's no risk in trying it. 1:17Hey, everybody. I'm Dave Rubin, and this is First Look. It's Thursday, June 4th, 2026. We've got a packed show for you today. A California tech CEO living in a$35 million mansion is accused of secretly helping Iran's nuclear and military programs while laundering millions of dollars into the United States. New Jersey Democrats nominate a congressional candidate with past ties to an Al-Qaeda-linked organization and a campaign built around abolishing ICE. President Trump is expected to attend the New York Knicks' first NBA Finals home game in nearly three decades, potentially making history in the process.
2:00Let's dive in. We start with a story that sounds like something straight out of a spy thriller. Federal authorities have arrested Jamshid Gomi, a 63-year-old dual U.S.-Iranian citizen and California tech executive, accusing him of secretly helping Iran's nuclear and military establishment, obtained sensitive American technology while living a lavish lifestyle in Southern California. According to the Department of Justice, Gomi spent years procuring sophisticated, U.S.-made networking, security, and encryption equipment and funneling it to some of the most sensitive entities inside the Iranian regime.
2:40Those entities included Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Iran's Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces Logistics Ministry, and other sanctioned organizations connected to Iran's nuclear program. Prosecutors say the scheme operated for nearly a decade. According to court filings, Gomi used his Tehran-based technology company, Faraz Pardaz Rayaneh, to acquire American-made technology and route it through intermediaries in the United Arab Emirates before it ultimately reached Iran. And this wasn't some small operation. The DOJ says Gomi used personal eBay and PayPal accounts to make more than 400 separate purchases of American networking equipment.
3:26Assistant Attorney General John Eisenberg put it bluntly, Gomi enriched himself by supplying US technology to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and other sanctioned entities responsible for Iran's nuclear program. Federal authorities say Gomi's company generated more than$10 million in annual revenue while servicing Iranian government agencies and private companies, some already under U.S. sanctions. But the allegations don't stop there. Investigators say Gomi also laundered more than$15 million from Iran into the United States. According to prosecutors, the money was routed into U.S. bank accounts, Additional funds were deposited into a construction escrow account, and Gomi told the IRS the money came from a foreign inheritance.
4:19Meanwhile, his tax returns reportedly showed almost no income. In fact, prosecutors say his highest reported annual income was just over$20 ,000. Yet somehow authorities say he was building a sprawling mansion overlooking Newport Coast. According to the DOJ, Gomi purchased a vacant lot for nearly$4.5 million, then spent another $10.5 million constructing the home. More than$7 million came from foreign wire transfers tied to the scheme. Today, that property is estimated to be worth roughly$35 million. And here's a detail that really jumps out. While moving millions through international accounts, prosecutors say Gomi was also claiming tax benefits designed for low and moderate income Americans.
5:12Authorities allege he claimed those credits in seven different tax years while simultaneously deducting more than$1.7 million in mortgage interest and roughly$1.25 million in state and local property taxes. Federal authorities are now seeking to seize the mansion and other assets tied to the operation. If convicted, Gomi faces up to 20 years in prison. Now, politically, the timing is significant. The arrest comes as President Trump has dramatically expanded pressure on Iran through new sanctions, financial restrictions, energy export penalties, and an aggressive campaign aimed at preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions.
5:56And honestly, if these allegations are true, this case highlights exactly why national security officials have repeatedly warned about sanctions evasion networks operating right here inside the United States. According to prosecutors, this wasn't just about money. It was about helping one of America's top adversaries obtain sensitive technology while living comfortably in a multi-million dollar mansion on the California coast. Now to New Jersey, where Democrats have nominated a congressional candidate whose past associations are drawing intense scrutiny. Adam Hamawi cruised to victory in New Jersey's 12th congressional district primary and is now the Democratic nominee to replace retiring Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman.
6:42And while Hamawi's supporters portray him as a decorated veteran and successful surgeon, critics are focusing on a very different part of his history. According to reporting highlighted this week, Hamawi volunteered during the 1990s in Bosnia for the Benevolence International Foundation. That organization was later identified by federal investigators as a front connected to Al-Qaeda. According to court findings and subsequent reporting, the group provided financial and logistical support to Osama bin Laden's terrorist network. Now, Hamawi has long maintained that he was unaware of the organization's true nature at the time.
7:19But the controversy doesn't end there. Reports also resurfaced regarding Hamawi's connection to Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, better known as the Blind Sheikh. The Blind Sheikh was convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Hamawi was reportedly called as a witness by Abdel Rahman's legal team during proceedings involving allegations that the cleric encouraged followers to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Since then, Hamawi has built an impressive professional resume. He graduated from medical school, became a plastic surgeon, served in Iraq, and earned praise from military veterans.
7:59In fact, Senator Tammy Duckworth has publicly credited Hamawi with helping save her life after her helicopter was shot down during combat operations in Iraq. But politically, Hamawi is running as one of the most progressive candidates in Congress, among his core positions, abolishing ICE. He's also received endorsements from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna, and actor Mark Ruffalo. And just days before the primary, Hamawi sat down for an interview with far-left streamer Hassan Piker. Now here's why Republicans see this race as important. New Jersey's 12th district is one of the safest Democratic seats in America, so whoever wins the Democratic primary is overwhelmingly likely to become a member of Congress.
8:47That means voters aren't just choosing a representative. They're potentially sending another member of the squad style progressive movement to Washington. Hamawi will now face Republican nominee Greg Mele in November. And finally, President Trump is expected to attend one of the biggest sporting events New York City has seen in a generation. According to multiple reports, Trump plans to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on June 8th. And if he does, it would be historic. Trump would become the first sitting U.S. president ever to attend an NBA Finals game.
9:28The appearance comes as the Knicks prepare to host their first Finals game since 1999, after sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. For New York basketball fans, this is a moment they'd been waiting nearly three decades to experience. The Knicks haven't won an NBA championship since 1973, and now they find themselves back on the sport's biggest stage against a familiar opponent. The last time New York reached the finals, they lost to the Tim Duncan-led Spurs. This year, they'll once again face San Antonio, this time led by superstar Victor Wembeyama. the Western Conference Finals MVP.
10:09Trump recently confirmed that he'd been invited to attend by multiple people, including Knicks owner James Dolan. He said, I think I'll be going to one of the games. Trump also revealed he had originally planned to attend game five of the Eastern Conference Finals before the Knicks ended the series early with a four-game sweep. He joked, I was going to go on Wednesday, but they closed it out very quickly. Boy, what a team. Now, longtime New Yorkers know this isn't some sudden bandwagon appearance. Trump has been attending Knicks games for decades. He's frequently spoken about his love of New York sports and recently praised the franchise's resurgence.
10:50Trump said,
10:54And beyond basketball, this appearance continues a trend we've seen throughout Trump's presidency. Since returning to the White House, Trump has attended the College Football National Championship, the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, UFC events, the U.S. Open, and numerous other major sporting events. Every appearance has generated massive attention, loud crowd reactions, and plenty of media coverage. And honestly, Trump understands something many politicians don't. sports remain one of the few places where millions of Americans still come together around a shared cultural experience. So if the president takes his seat courtside Monday night, he'll be doing it during one of the biggest moments in modern Knicks history.
11:40And for Madison Square Garden, it could be one of the most memorable nights the arena has seen in decades. And that's your first look this Thursday. Quick recap.
