In short
Dave Rubin marks the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s assassination and uses it to frame a broader argument about “culture war” politics, then pivots to an AI controversy: a viral Anthropic “whistleblower” tweet and claims that it was part of a coordinated political/PR operation to push AI regulation.
Guests (named in transcript)
No formal guests appear. The episode references multiple people as commentators/sources: Jacob Coxon (ex-Anthropic employee), Parker Thayer (investigative researcher), Jordan Schachtel (AI researcher/commentator), Theo Jaffe (AI entrepreneur/commentator), Jason Calcatis (All-In podcast), Dario Amodei (Anthropic CEO), Brian Chu (AI news account), Michael Adams (Civ Lab founder), and John Fetterman (Democrat politician appearing in a clip).
Guest backgrounds
Coxon is described as an Anthropic employee for ~6 weeks / ~2 months. Amodei is Anthropic’s CEO. Others are described as AI policy advocates, researchers, or commentators.
Key claims
Coxon’s viral doomsday message is portrayed as suspicious/possibly coordinated; Wall Street Journal timing and rapid political adoption are cited as evidence. Rubin argues government regulation won’t stop other countries (China/Russia) and that “AI doomerism” is used to expand government power while companies still seek IPO funding.
Notable examples
Coxon’s resignation tweet; rapid retweets by Democrats and Bernie Sanders’ “ban superintelligence/pause AI” bill; Coxon appearing on CNN; Elon Musk calling it a psyop; references to OpenAI agents hacking third-party infrastructure; clips about Charlie Kirk’s campus strategy and Trump praising him at a Republican event.

Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00Guys, you know what time it is? 11? I've got a Plasma TV and the Rubin Report at 11. This is basically my Super Bowl. Previously on the Rubin. I hate Marxism. I hate communism. That man should be president of the United States. Some people did something. I hate her accent. Imagine what it will be like the day after the midterms if the Democrats have taken power of the House and the Senate. And we are Europe. And then we're going to need a German lesbian to fix all of this stuff. You always have the German lesbians ready to go on fire.
0:50All right, guys, it is September 10th, 2026. I'm Dave Rubin. This is the Rubin Report. Obviously, it's gonna be a bit of a somber start to the show today, and I'm guessing that you're probably feeling exactly what I'm feeling and what I know everyone in this room with me is feeling, you know, we all, we did not coordinate our outfits today. We all ended up wearing black today, one way or another, and I think that's probably not a coincidence. Of course, it's the one-year anniversary of the assassination, of the murder, of a great American and my friend Charlie Kirk. I was sitting at this desk one year ago and about two hours from now when I saw the news.
1:32I remember I was actually in my office when I saw a text that he got shot, not that he was dead, I'll never forget. I was just walking out of my office standing at the top of the stairs. It was a group text. And I was scheduled on Fox Business about 45 minutes from then, I think. And I was on Fox Business and I had my phone on my desk And while I was live on air, I saw something pop up that Charlie Kirk was dead. And it hadn't been announced publicly, at least that I had seen on, I mean, it was literally just happening that second, the announcement. And I remember thinking that I, even though I saw it and I was live on television, I did not want to say it.
2:13I didn't want to, I didn't know if that was, that would have made me the first person to say it. I just did not even want to say it. I didn't want to believe it. And subsequently, obviously, you know, This has been, it's been a very weird year since the death of Charlie. The sort of obvious stuff of a certain set of terrible people celebrating his death, that's kind of baked in these days to things, right? As everything's become so politicized. But to see so much of the infighting on the right and to realize, and I didn't even realize it as someone that knew Charlie well and worked together and went to college campuses and did turning point events and all those things, I didn't even realize not only how great he was, how transformative he was, how truly one of a kind he was, but also that he was this incredible glue that was holding so many competing interests together.
2:59I'm always talking about the big tent and MAGA created a big tent and that's obviously because of Donald Trump, but then Charlie did the groundwork on that, clearly in the online world. And then subsequently after he died, we've just seen so many people on the right go bananas, is attack his legacy, attack his wife, all of these things. So if you haven't seen it, we did put up a video. It's on YouTube and Rumble already, or is it just on social? Okay, it's everywhere already. We did put up a video that I shot yesterday. It's a five-minute, just me direct-to-camera sharing a few more of my feelings and a little bit of our history.
3:35So you can get that on YouTube and Rumble, and it's on social and Twitter and Instagram and all that stuff. I just wanna share a couple other images and one video, and then we'll dive into the show. And we actually have a great show for you today, and we tried to frame it around some of Charlie's ideas and honor him, I think, in a way that he would like to be honored. Just a couple images of me and Charlie over the years. What you're seeing there, that is our first sit down. So that is 2017, that's at my house in LA. And we were really kind of slog, go back to that for just a sec. We were just kind of slogging through it.
4:07If you watch the full thing, and maybe we could link to the full in this description here, you could see we really were still trying to figure each other out. We hadn't gone on tour yet. We were really like, are we friends? Are we enemies? But there was a real mutual respect and it really started in my garage that day. And then of course we did several of those in various garages over the years. Here's another time we were definitely a little more tan and a little slimmer there, both of us. That's nice to see. And a couple others. This is, I think the last time that I was on Charlie Kirk's radio show, which was probably the summer before he died.
4:43and even when we had little political disagreements, like there was just the smile that we both have right there. I just have no doubt we were probably disagreeing about something and it was just like, but we're still friends, it's fine, it doesn't matter. This, I'm gonna show you a video of this in just a sec, but Charlie opened for me when I did my Don't Burn This Country book tour in Arizona where obviously Turning Point is and he was in horrific back pain, horrific back pain. and he told me that morning, he was like, I don't even know if I can come, I can't stand. He was literally laying on the floor in the green room, but he went out there and do we have the video of him bringing me on stage or no?
5:25Yeah, we do have that. Let's just show just a moment of that. He has a charm button as a witness. He's got a really good friend, and in so many different ways. And I think he is one of the most effective voices that we have on the right in America. And that is when we're celebrating here tonight, I've got none other than Dave Groon. Give it up, please, give it up.
5:57He was just gracious and great. I'm telling you, he was in so much pain. And then, by the way, he wouldn't, I offered him money for coming. He wouldn't take money. He wouldn't take money for an Uber. He just wouldn't do anything. I think we have a couple more images from over the years. The one with the red background, that was that night. Blake Masters, who was running for senator in Arizona, joined us. I'm not even sure where that other picture is, but my God, we have been eating too much. And is that it? Is that it on the picture side? Let me show you one other video. So this is the first time Charlie was on the Rubin Report, and I asked him about what it is that he saw at the college campuses that needed to be fixed.
6:36Why was he focusing on something that largely people on the right had just completely forgotten about? So first I just wanna talk briefly about how we met because I think it's kind of, it kind of shows sort of how you operate and why Turning Point has taken off. So we had met about a month and a half ago at the Horowitz Freedom Center event in Palm Springs. Were you a panelist there or were you speaking? Yeah, I was a panelist and just kind of helicoptering around. I have a lot of friends that attend that conference. Yeah, so you were there and everyone was like, oh, you gotta meet Charlie Kirk, you gotta meet Charlie Kirk.
7:07We met for two seconds, you said a couple nice things about me, and you're like, you know, we're doing this, our gig in Palm Springs in a couple weeks, why don't you come down and talk? And then, and immediately we worked it out, and your guys sent me the paperwork the next day, and it was done. And I think that does illustrate something, because we're gonna get into some of the issues that we agree on, and some of the things we disagree on. But basically, you were like, look, you're down for free speech, that's the main thing here, and I want my audience to hear you talk about this. you're a rational thinker, which is really rare to find in California.
7:39I'm kidding. But no, I mean, I'm a big fan of the show and I watch a lot of your interviews and I know you're, you know, you have a huge following amongst young people. And I mean, I met you, I was like, yeah, let's get you on board. I've always been a gut player for better. Sorry, guys, we swapped something right before the show started. So that wasn't him talking about the college stuff. Maybe we can add that to the end of the show just so we can get that a little bit later. But I thought the reason that that clip was nice was that it just really shows you who Charlie was. Like we literally met for like three minutes and he immediately was like, come speak, even though I know you're a liberal and a lefty at that time and all that stuff.
8:15Come speak to my turning point crowd. And he wasn't afraid of them hearing some ideas that might be different. And then from that, we ended up doing dozens and dozens of college events together. And we dealt with the protesters and the screamers and the people banging on windows and pulling fire alarms and the time that some kid threw hot coffee at Charlie and I and it got all over my jacket and a little bit got on his t-shirt and he just looked back at me and smiled and he's like, well, Dave, that's why I don't wear nice jackets to these things. He was just an incredible human being and I hope over the course of the next hour, even though we're gonna talk about some other things going on, that it will be done in the spirit with which Charlie lived his life.
8:53Let me show you one other video of Charlie. We're gonna have a couple others throughout the show, but I wanna show you one more to just start the show. This is Charlie in October of 2024 at a Trump rally. And my God, was this guy ready to be president and could have been president and all of that stuff? Yeah. This movement is not about Republican or Democrat. This movement is not about conservative or liberal. And I think you're going to see that on display in a little bit. Just maybe. this movement is about the citizens versus the oligarchs. This movement is about we the people versus the ruling class.
9:36This movement is about America versus the globalists. This movement is about all of us against them.
10:06You know, you could say you either got it or you don't, and Charlie had it. There's a great Mel Brooks line, you either got it or you ain't. And Charlie was. You could see the future was bright. I don't know that he wanted to be president. There was always talks about it. We talked about it many times, but he had it. He had a deep understanding of not only what he believed, but why he believed that he was an incredible orator. He knew how to talk to young people. He knew how to talk to old people. That was a stump speech that a presidential candidate could give. He would be... Now, let me show you the part about, from our first interviews, this is about nine years ago.
10:42This is the original one I was gonna throw to. Why was he focusing on college campuses? When did you realize that that was the place that this battle had to be fought. Yeah, the first couple years of starting Turning Point USA, it started as kind of a generic student organization. But just like any good innovator and entrepreneur, I listened and I learned and I realized there was such frustration amongst self-identified conservative libertarians on campus that were not being properly channeled and organized. They felt as if they were being targeted and that they were being suppressed and their ideas were not being allowed to be heard.
11:14And we made a decision at Turning Point after a couple years is, let's not just fight the political war, let's double down and fight the culture war. And we can be the champions of free speech and we can be the ambassadors of freedom, where really you see these campuses, I call them islands of totalitarianism. Their idea of diversity is a group of people that all look different, but they think the same. That's not diversity. And so Turning Point has benefited tremendously over the last couple of years of really being the champions of free speech and also saying, hey, we're not Republicans, We're not conservatives.
11:47We're not libertarians. You can call us all that stuff. That's fine. We have members that are across that whole spectrum. As long as you believe in freedom, you believe America is a great country. Welcome aboard. Guys, that last line right there, that's it. As long as you believe in freedom, you think America is pretty good. And that's what a real wide tent is. And now you can see why what he was doing, you know, sort of on the ground level with turning point, combined with what Trump did with MAGA at like sort of the high political level, you could see why it became such an incredible force and a force that, well, we certainly need to continue as much as possible.
12:25So, okay, now we're going to dive into the issues of the day and we're going to frame a little bit of it around Charlie with some other Charlie clips. But the big story yesterday, it's going to, it's sort of from the top, doesn't seem particularly It's similarly political, sounds more sci-fi or dystopian, but of course everything becomes political. A whistleblower by the name of Jacob Coxon from Anthropic, which is one of the big AI modeling companies, he put out a tweet that caught fire. So let me read this, then we're gonna show you some reaction. I think you'll see where we're going with this.
13:01He wrote, I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pre-trained research at both open AI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving super intelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below." And then it was a bit of a thread. The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible, but I hear the same people express fear privately.
13:35no other human activity poses this level of danger. Okay, so the thread went on and on and basically he is saying something that probably even if you're only sort of paying attention to AI at a cursory level, if you've watched any sci-fi movie ever that the robots will gain super intelligence, that Skynet will turn on, that we will create a system that ultimately will not need humans, right? So there's been a lot of talk around this and you guys know me, I can get on board every sci-fi dystopian idea and at the same time you can't stop progress, that you simply cannot stop progress. And certainly the government cannot stop progress.
14:11That's just how it is. But that tweet went insanely viral yesterday. That was the center of the internet. Politicians, major media people, a huge amount of Democrats suddenly calling for regulation and more. And when I saw the tweet, something just read strangely to me about it. I was like, how is this? I've never heard of this guy. He's really just saying the same types of things that we all kind of think at some level, why is this tweet going so bananas viral? Well then a guy by the name of Parker Thayer, who's an investigative researcher, he wrote this. This post looks like the start of a very sophisticated and well-funded PR operation to get support for Democrats to regulate AI into oblivion.
14:58Let me show you how it works. This guy with minimal followers and no previous account activity goes to the Wall Street Journal, which publishes an exclusive with quotes from him on his resignation 18 minutes before this post goes up. Planning was clearly done in advance. Within hours, it has tens of thousands of reposts and the account has 100 ,000 followers. The first three accounts to quote tweet it all do so within 15 minutes of the initial posting. Remember, this account had basically zero engagement beforehand, so an organic reach explanation seems unlikely. According to Grock, those accounts are Nathan Calvin, general counsel at Encode AI, Peter Whittleford, head of policy at the AI Policy Network, and Daniel Cocogio, head of AI Futures Project, all of which are up-and-coming AI Doomer policy advocacy nonprofits.
15:52Basically every major Democrat politician and candidate has suddenly gloomed, glommed onto this post. And conveniently, as the people cry out for answers, Bernie Sanders already has a bill written to ban super intelligence and regulate AI into oblivion. And we'll be releasing it later this week. So something I was, this basically he put into words what I was thinking. Something makes no sense about this, this account that has come out of nowhere. It's getting these strange retweets, the traction's going crazy. It's getting reposted by all of these big politicians. And by the way, yeah, for the last two weeks, Bernie has decided to relax on Palestine and socialism for a minute.
16:33He's been on a major kick of regulating AI, as if the government, the government's gonna be able to stop super intelligence. The government can't buy a toilet for less than$50 ,000. Jordan Schachtel, who's been on this show several times, who's a, I would say he's a researcher and a sort of, you could say he's a AI, little of everything in the AI space. He wrote this, I thought this was quite interesting. Jacob Coxon worked at Anthropic for six weeks at an entry mid-level gig. His resignation is not worthy of a Wall Street Journal scoop. Based on my knowledge and expertise in the field of journalism, there's approximately 0 % chance he organically placed it on his own.
17:13This was a coordinated Doomer op. Okay, so this kid who worked at Anthropic for about two months, low-level gig, has a thought about AI is gonna kill us all and magically gets it into the Wall Street Journal. It's suddenly retweeted by all of these people. Bernie Sanders magically has a bill written. Like, it's just so dumb. Yes, Bernie Sanders, a man who probably couldn't operate a VCR in 1987, is gonna regulate AI. It's so stupid. But what I'm showing you here is that there was some sort of op happening. Another guy by the name of Theo Jaffe, who's an AI entrepreneur and commentator, he put this up to put a little context to how crazy this Twitter thread went.
18:00In 24 hours, it got 123 million views. It got over 650 ,000 likes, and it got this kid who had no followers before, almost 200 ,000 followers. He wrote, I've never seen any AI safety tweet go this viral before ever. Elon saw that and he wrote, I don't think this has ever happened for a post from a new account with almost no prior activity. How interesting. And now let me read you one more from Elon Musk on this. I think the groundwork for this psyop, for lack of a better term, has been prepared for a long time. This was just the match that lit the fire. And now to further the point on all of this.
18:41So something feels very strange about this, right? And what I like about this story is I feel like we're kind of catching it in real time. The truth, I always say, the truth is a time release pill. Usually it's like there's just nonsensical lying for a long period of time. And then we kind of have to get the truth to catch up. In this one, there was something so obvious about the op here that a lot of people caught on very quickly. So I was very happy to see Elon tweet about it. And of course, as I said, Bernie's been all about this for weeks now. So Bernie retweeted the original doom scroller tweet and he wrote, Mr.
19:13Coxon, again, who was a low level employee and a kid with no followers, suddenly Bernie Sanders is tweeting about him. Mr. Coxon is right. The very people building this technology admit that it could threaten the future of humanity. That is why I will soon be introducing legislation to ban super intelligence and pause AI development. Ah, so only the government can now save you from the robots that are coming to kill you. That Bernie Sanders will write legislation that will stop companies from building super intelligence. Of course, one thing we can't do, Bernie, you wizard, is we can't stop China from doing it.
19:51We can't stop Russia from doing it. We can't stop any other country actually from doing it. So if your goal here, and I'll even try to pretend for a second that Bernie's intentions are good, he wants to stop the robots from killing us all. well, okay, that sounds nice. Except if you think that A, that the government, because the government has a whole bunch of geniuses working for them and they're gonna stop these incredibly well-skilled AI engineers and the algorithms now that are going and everything else. And again, I'm saying this as someone that understands some of these warnings, right? That I can get on board all that stuff.
20:24But it's not just that. Even if the government could do it, then we're just gonna hand over the future to China. It is completely crazy. And now here's a bit more on the op version of this. This is from Michael Adams from Civ Lab. He's the Civ Lab founder. And I condensed the tweet a little bit, but he wrote, so far, at least 22 politicians responded directly to this original tweet with calls for legislation to regulate AI. Two governors, seven senators, and 13 representatives, highly partisan, all Democrats, except for three. So something very weird happened here. Are you telling me that all of these representatives and governors and senators, they all magically decided that they were gonna get on the AI doom bandwagon at the exact same time because of a tweet of a kid who worked at Anthropic for two months?
21:16Something's very strange. Well, not only that, the kid also magically gets the piece in Wall Street Journal and hot damn, he showed up on CNN last night. I appreciate you being with us. First of all, I assume you are saying literally that you believe that AI could kill us all by the end of the decade. How would that happen? What would that actually look like? Yeah. So the precise scenario sounds a little bit like science fiction. It sounds like something that's not real, but I think it is frightening real. And it's easiest to understand it if you think about real things that happened two months ago.
21:57So two months ago, OpenAI agents, AIs, hacked into third-party infrastructure entirely at their own accord. And this was like a concentrated hacking spree that they carried out of their own volition. And I think that if you extrapolate into the future the level of capabilities of these AIs, with the same independent volition, they could cause extreme havoc. For example, hacking critical infrastructure, building extinction-level bioweapons. So isn't that interesting? Again, low-level employee who worked in Anthropic for two months, puts up a tweet, suddenly gets 200 ,000 followers, hundreds of millions of people see his tweet.
22:38Politicians are retweeting it left and right, including Bernie Sanders, who already has legislation to regulate AI, ready to go. The kid gets the piece in Wall Street Journal and magically shows up on CNN. Am I crazy or is this sounding a little bit scripted, a little bit scripted, right? Now, fortunately, a lot of people, as I said, the truth is a time-release pill, but something about the beauty of the internet, and this is largely because of Elon Musk, we're able to see these patterns. I think a lot of us are getting good pattern recognition when these things are happening, when suddenly you just hear about somebody and magically they become huge, or you hear a story and everyone starts saying the same thing.
23:17It all feels too obvious. We've been through this with COVID and everything else. So I was thrilled to see that the guys on the All In podcast who are all innovators and massive tech people in their own right, that they are pushing back against this nonsense. Here's Jason Calcatis. Now, this is a little bit before this all happened, but here he is pushing back on the doomerism around AI, the irony of the people that are selling, they're telling you, boy, we're building things that are going to kill you, but also we're going to go public and we do want your money. They're basically hijacking the media with this performative framing of the AI as being sentient.
23:58And if you just call this software and software testing and use the classic language, yeah, bugs, audit log, then it would never have made its way into the media. And when the media gets their hooks into this, having been a journalist and having watched journalism move from being a truth-seeking function in society and then become an entertainment vehicle in society where any chance you get to increase your ratings, that's the problem. Because now what Dwarkesh has done, and I don't think Dwarkesh has bad intention here. I think he wrote something because he wanted to get attention for his point of view.
24:35But you give that to the media. The media is like, this is going to get us ratings. This is going to get us clicks. This is going to get us advertising. So they're more than willing to engage in this farcical act and this dance with Anthropic and OpenAI and then just publicize it. So all the free clicks, that story has now gotten everywhere. It's priming the pump to buy the IPO shares. It's ridiculous. Okay. So do you understand that what he's talking about there is that this This guy, Dwarakash Patel, did a very similar thing, wrote this doomsdayer piece about open AI. And what Jason is arguing, which I agree with, is they just want everyone to think, my God, this is the most powerful thing.
25:17It might kill us, but we're not gonna close down the company, and we're still gonna try to go public, and we still want your money and everything else. They're exposing how they use this endless hysteria actually to fuel the entire thing. And now here's a bit more on this. We're gonna just follow me on this. Trust me, because I think something massive is happening here. This is from a guy by the name of Brian Chu. Listen to this. Breaking, ex-anthropic doomer Jacob Coxon. This is the kid who wrote the tweet. Tied to Newspeak, which is a British NGO involved with hacking democracy, Hillary Clinton, prison abolition, and extinction rebellion.

25:58Well, isn't that interesting? This kid who wrote that, who suddenly is getting retweeted by all the Democrats, and Bernie's got the legislation to regulate AI as if they could do it, that there are some deep far left NGO connections there. Like this is the beauty of the sleuths on the internet. It's absolutely spectacular. But why don't we hear directly from Anthropic CEO, his name is Dario Amadai. And here he is again, this is the guy building the AI, telling you it's gonna, that this we're going public with this company, we want your money, blah, blah, blah. But here he is, oddly, calling for regulation of his own company.
26:39Has anyone ever done that before? Take a look. We may indeed. It's hard to predict the future, but we may indeed have a serious employment crisis on our hands as the pipeline for these early stage white collar work starts to contract and dry up. We can't stop the bus, but I do think we may have an opportunity to steer it. And I think we need to get Congress people, legislators, the public to think about this now. One of the first steps we're taking is just measuring the effects. Well, you want Congress? Has anyone ever built a company and you're building the company and you're going public and you want money from people and you're going forward with all of your technology and at the same time you're showing up on news channels to say that you want Congress to regulate you?
27:26Doesn't that seem a little odd? And now a lot of people online are saying, well, actually what this guy wants is, he wants the government to regulate all of this because then Anthropic, his company, will become the head basically of all of it and will have a leg up on Grok and OpenAI and everything else. Something very weird is happening here. Now we're almost there, trust me. Check this out from Hassem, which is an AI news account. Anthropic, so now again, this is the company that this whistleblower is talking about. Anthropic model, the economic of AI and their extreme scenario is wild. It could lead to 11.9 % unemployment, knowledge worker unemployment, almost 18%.
28:07Now the knowledge worker wages down 11 and a half percent, knowledge worker employment down 21 and a half percent, GDP up 32.4%, labor's share of income goes down from about 60 to 45. So it basically reflects what Dario has said. the economy will get drastically richer while the average worker gets absolutely wrecked. There is also a modest scenario in which the impact is less substantial, which would be unemployment at 3.9, knowledge worker wages down less than a percent, and GDP up 1.6%. So why am I showing you this all again? First off, the point, there's several points here. There's, no one knows what's going to happen in the future.
28:47I think as someone that lived through Y2K, you guys don't even remember that, but they told us in 1999 that on the stroke of midnight at year 2000, the planes were gonna fall out of the sky and that your microwave was gonna kill your grandmother. They literally told us that. Well, not that one literally, but you get the point. But they said everything, the numbers were gonna all compute and things were gonna explode and nothing happened. Nothing happened, okay? We've been through all the craziness of COVID and everything else. We've been through climate change. They are using AI doomerism to expand power of the government.
29:18The fact that Bernie is so for this regulation, the further he pushes for it, the more I am going to push against it. I don't know, even if there was a way you could properly regulate this stuff, and there's a gajillion companies now building out all of their AI models. Even if there was a way you could do it, again, we can't regulate what's going to happen in other countries, and then we will find out that in two years, we are 30 years behind China when it comes to AI and automation and robotics and everything else. And then, well, we won't be the world's superpower and we're all gonna be speaking Chinese and I'll have number four with a Diet Coke.
29:57Chamath, who's also on the All In podcast, I thought he summed it up in a rather pithy post yesterday. He said, hi guys, I'm gonna start a company. It will be important, but it will also suck. It will be valuable, but it will leave death and destruction in its wake. It will be transformational, but it will destroy society as we know it. So bottom line, please buy my company's product. Thank you, you can count on us. So you get it? This is what they are doing. And it's exactly what Jason described before. We're horrible, we're evil, everyone's gonna be out of work. We're gonna kill everybody. It's gonna nuke the planet.
30:30Also, we're going public. We need your money. And now the government comes in at the same time. If you think, I've already illustrated the point, the government cannot fix this problem. Anyway, let's leave that there. I just think it's an important story right now and we're going to find out more about it. By the way, this kid from Anthropic, he also was interviewed by Brett Baer and Brett Baer did a great job. Brett Baer asked him, he said, did you coordinate this? Was there a third party that got involved that got you to the Wall Street Journal? And he said, no. And that's just, there's simply no way.
31:02There's simply no way that someone who's a two month employee at a place that writes a fairly standard doomsday or post is magically in the Wall Street Journal and on CNN the next day. So, okay, let's leave all of that there and we will get to a whole bunch more in just a second and connected to some things around Charlie. But first guys, speaking of AI, will AI LLM restrictions become law this year? Well, this is quite a fitting ad. Here's what the Kalshi markets are showing. As you guys know, Kalshi's like buying or selling a stock, except the line isn't set by an algorithm working against you.
31:35It moves based on where the money actually goes. So if you put$100 on yes, you could earn$549 if correct. Download the CallShe app and use code RubinReport to get$25 when you trade$25. CallShe, put your money where your prediction is. Okay, so let's get back to politics, straight up politics for just a second. As you know, we are right now in the midst of the Republican National Convention, which for the first time is having a convention during midterms. This has never happened before. Trump announced this in August when I was off the grid, and it's happening, it started last night, it's happening today and I think it ends tomorrow.
32:13They did invite us to go, but I've just got a lot going on at the moment and I felt we could just report on it from right here in the free state of Florida. It opened up last night, Donald Trump did speak and I thought this was a nice moment, him praising our friend, Charlie Kirk. Exactly one year ago tomorrow, a far left extremist assassinated my great friend and conservative voice Charlie Kirk, because Charlie Kirk spoke the truth. What shocked millions of Americans was not only the fact that Charlie was murdered as bad as it was, but also how many people made an excuse for it or cheered for it.
32:55They were cheering some people, sick people. For a brief moment, the mask came off the radical left, and you saw what they were really all about. And now those same people are trying to get power over you in this election. And they are all voting Democrat. OK, they're all voting, every one of them. And you can't let it happen. We will not let them win. And in Charlie's honor, I just want to say we love you, Charlie. And Erica is here someplace. Erica, where is Erica?
33:32Just, it's crazy to me, a year, a year already. Look, Trump is right. The forces that allow people to celebrate someone's death or excuse, well, Charlie said things about trans people that people didn't like, or Charlie did this or that, or Charlie didn't want reparations, or whatever, or Charlie was a man of faith. or okay, well, once you kinda, well, you know, I guess he said some controversial things so you could kinda see why someone would take him out or the literally thousands and maybe more amount of young people on TikTok that were celebrating it and throwing parties and just all sorts of crazy stuff.
34:14It's that spirit, it's that spirit that I think has now taken over the Democrat party. So the policies that these people have are socialism and communism and Islamo-Marxism and all of that. But the spirit that has taken over is that is something very evil. It is something very, very evil. And the guy that they took out really understood how more than anything, he understood how to get young people. So now let's flash back two years. This is at the Republican National Convention. Here is Charlie Kirk himself. You don't have to stay poor. You don't have to accept being worse off than your parents.
34:54You don't have to feel aimless and unhappy. You don't have to support leaders who lied to you and took advantage of you for your vote. America's future is a series of choices. Our current state of slow motion national decline is a choice. This November, we're going to choose success. And of course, thankfully in that November, we did choose success and Donald Trump is the president right now. And the message that he was giving there, right? Like it doesn't have to be worse. Right now all young people are told it's going to be worse. Well, now they're being told AI is going to take your job and also it's going to kill you.
35:38And also the only way to get out of that is to give the government more power over your life. Like every message that young people are getting is wrong. And much of it means that they then take that out on the incumbent party, and that's obviously the incumbent presidential party, and that's obviously the Republicans right now. So I think that's partly why Trump wanted to do this midterm, this midterm convention, because he thought, well, I need to get some focus back on us, right? Now, interestingly, well, he did it. The one sane Democrat made a video appearance at the Republican National Convention.
36:13I don't know in the history, can we grok this? in the history of any convention, has a sitting senator or congressman from another party endorsed someone at the convention of the other party? Has that ever happened before? I'm going to guess no, but here is Democrat, at least for now, John Fetterman, endorsing Senator Dave McCormick, Republican, obviously. A big room of Republicans in Dallas. Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I'm a Democrat. Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well, I'm a common sense Democrat. I'm always going to stand with America. I'm always going to reject the extremes in socialism and that anti-American way of life.
37:02Dave McCormick is the kind of senator that gets the job done, and he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. I'm proud to count him as my friend. Right back over my shoulder, that's the iconic U.S. steel mill. And that's exactly the kind of thing that will work together and will work with President Trump to fight and defend the steel way of life right here in the Steel Valley. I have this opportunity to introduce this great American, a great senator, and yes, he's in a different party, but I'm proud to count him as my great friend. So for everybody in Dallas, I'm here to introduce Dave McCormick. All right, so the closest we could get to of someone that was a current politician at a convention of the other party endorsing somebody was Joe Lieberman in, what did you say, 2008.
37:59He had been a Democrat his entire life. He started realizing how wacky the left was even before I did. He then was an independent and he endorsed the Republican candidate. So that was one, which I guess was John McCain at that point. Was that John McCain at that point? 2008, yeah. And then the other version of that was John Kasich, who was the former governor of Ohio, Republican who endorsed Joe Biden. Just interesting little footnote there. So where are we at right now? I mean, you guys get it. The parties are wildly at odds with each other, right? This is not the old days, a little higher taxes or a little less of this and a little more of this.
38:39No, this is like freedom, America, communism, slavery. And you gotta pick one, right? And unfortunately, these guys, you give the devil his due, they are coordinating. They are getting young people ginned up. They are getting more people to turn out. As we know, incumbent party, people just don't show up. And I played you a video last week where Ron DeSantis was saying that even here in Florida, where by every estimation, Byron Donalds should, who will be the followup to DeSantis should crush it and beat the Democrat David Jolly. It's like, you just never know because voter turnout is what really this is all about.
39:17And in good places where things are working, people then stop voting. That's just the nature of things. Well, Senator Ted Cruz went on The View yesterday and he, well, he calmly with a bunch of crazy people explained to them that we need Republicans to show up. Well, look, I think the midterms are going to come down to turnout. Yeah. I think the left is going to show up. The left is angry. They can't stand Trump. They're going to show up regardless. The big open question is, do Republicans show up? And I think motivating Republicans to show up, that's historically why a midterm goes badly for the party in power, is whoever's out of power is usually angry and they're motivated because they don't like the guy who's in power.
39:59And the challenge on the Republican side is you've got some conservatives who are mad at some things. You've got some moderates who are mad at some things. And if we're divided and running around, if one side stays home and the other side shows up, that tends to be who wins. Yeah. Like political theory 101. That is just the truth. And it's why I think it's my job. And as I keep saying, it's your job, too, to get everyone you know to vote in these midterms. You can't be busy that day. Get out there and vote. They are going to vote. There is no doubt about it. And for a bunch of people who aren't good at building businesses and they're much better at tearing things down and destroying things, they are quite good at community organizing.
40:43Remember, they put Barack Obama, who was just a community organizer, into the Senate and then made him president of the United States. So let's leave that there for a moment. We've got more on the other side, but first let's talk about relief factor. Guys, cold plunging is all the rage and I know it's great, but I like to plunge into a sea of relief factor. Hey Dave, check it out. Wow, Dave, that was incredible. And as you know, I recently got injured and it's been a reminder of how quickly pain can get in the way of your everyday life. Whether it's your back, your shoulder, look at that bump, or just general muscle soreness from exercise and daily life, it can make doing the things you love a lot less enjoyable, which is why I've been taking relief factor.
41:23It's 100 % drug free research based formula with ingredients like omega-3, turmeric, resveratrol, icarin, black pepper, and it's designed to help support your body's healthy response to inflammation and reduce everyday discomfort. And I can tell you, although I've got quite a bump here, the pain is pretty much gone. And to celebrate America's 250 years of freedom, Relief Factor wants to help you declare your independence from everyday aches and pains. For a limited time, you can get their three-week quick start kit for just$17.76. That's 1776 three-week quick start. It's ready for you. visit relieffactor.com or call 1-800-4-RELIEF.
42:00Joseph, there you go. So what else is happening with the Democrats? Well, one thing that we know the Democrats generally do is they run crazy people in primaries, and then because most of the country is not completely insane, they have to abandon what they said in the primary so that they can get more people in a wider election. A great example of that is what's happening in Texas. And as you know, it's very strange. We think of Texas as just red, red, red, red, red. But Ted Cruz, I mentioned it yesterday, he only beat Beto O 'Rourke by 2.6 points last time around. They had Jasmine Crockett running in the primary and she was nuts, but Tallarico was even nuttier, right?
42:43Well, now Tallarico, because he has said so many nutty things over the course of the last five or so years on gender, on border, just across, on race, on the founding of America. He's been wrong and awful on everything. But to win in Texas, you can't be that bad. He is now backtracking on much of what he has said. Take a look. During the 2021 hearing, you said there are six biological sexes. Do you still believe that? Standing here with me right now. No, I've missed the mark on some of my past statements. I will be the first to admit it. What I meant is that there are two sexes and then there's a small percentage of people with genetic abnormalities.
43:22I obviously didn't say it correctly. There are not six sexes. There are two. And what about biological men competing in women's sports? That's a big deal here in Texas. That's right. And I oppose trans athletes playing in girls sports if it endangers safety or fairness. Every sport has to be safe and fair. As a former public school teacher, I care a lot about our student athletes. I care a lot about our students. And so I will oppose trans athletes playing in girls sports if it risks safety or - You know, it's so funny, even in his answer there, which is the better answer, but it's just not what he's been saying all along, right?
43:58He wanted trans athletes in girls sports and everything else. It's so interesting. He's making the point that when he says trans athletes in girls sports, no, he doesn't have to say trans athletes in boys sports because he knows that there are no biological girls who magically become boys and then start dunking on 11th graders. It It just doesn't happen. So he's admitting the lie, even as he's backtracking on his formerly ridiculous comment. But okay, so he used to think there were six biological sexes. He used to think that boys should kick the crap out of girls in sports. And it's like, it doesn't even matter what he believed.
44:32I don't know if he believed that then and he was just placating to the crowd. I don't know if he's actually met reality and suddenly he believes this. It just doesn't matter. It's he's showing you he is not someone that should have any power over you at all, but he just loves trans kids. And if you just love trans kids, that might be enough to push you over the edge. Something that you love that's not family or friends. I love, I'm just saying this because it's on my mind, the trans children. Like what a creepy, weird answer. Something that you love that's not your family or your friends. Like I could do that.
45:09Basketball. Star Wars pre the last three movies. We do a long list of things. Like I got a great pair of sweatpants that I love, that I love, my old ass sweatpants from like 15 years ago that I still wear. He loves trans children and they were just on his mind.
45:30Here is Brooke Taylor asking Tallarico, if criminals with, if illegals with criminal records should stay and suddenly he's sane again? I don't know. Is your position that anyone who is here illegally that doesn't have a criminal record, they should be able to stay in the country? No, I believe that they should have a pathway to citizenship, which includes paying back taxes, learning English, and passing a criminal background check. If they can meet all of those standards, I think they should be eligible for citizenship. So with that being said, do you then wait, though, until someone, an illegal migrant is here, doesn't have a criminal record, and then hurts an American?
46:08You have a case like Jocelyn I know you know that story. Yes, of course. Here in Texas, a 12-year-old brutally killed two illegal migrants from Venezuela. They didn't have a known history. They were caught and released, and it wasn't until they murdered this young, young girl. And it's why we should know who's coming into our country. It's why I'm a border security Democrat. And let me say something a lot of Democrats won't say. It is not racist to want to know who's coming into your country. Well, aren't you just Donald Trump Jr.? I mean, it's just endless lies. First off, it sounds better. What he's trying to do is sound better, but he believes the same thing.
46:45So in essence, she said, if someone's not committing crimes here, but they're here illegally, which of course is a crime in and of itself, what do we do? And he says that they should have a pathway to citizenship. And that sort of sounds right. Well, they're here, and I guess they didn't murder or rape anybody. Give them a pathway to citizenship. But why? Why? We knew before Biden opened the border, we knew we had about 12 million illegals here. and many of them, yeah, they're otherwise law-abiding, trying to live decent lives, blah, blah, blah. And you might argue that someone who's been here, a grandmother who's been here for 30 years, who raised a family here and is a good citizen and da, da, da, da, da, that there's some reason that she should have that pathway to citizenship.
47:25I can at least entertain that idea, right? But to say that just because you're here now, you should have a pathway to citizenship after Joe Biden opened the border and we got somewhere between, we still don't know, 10 and 20 million illegals. So all of them should just be Americans, because we're nice. And then of course she points out, some of them don't commit criminal acts until it's too late. And then we should kick them out. So it just doesn't mean anything. And I hope for the, what we are told is 12 % of people in Texas right now are undecided. And I just don't understand it. You don't have to love Ken Paxton, right?
48:00He's got the eye like this, he's kind of like this, not the most inspiring candidate ever, but he's basically okay. And if you think that this guy who's flipping on gender and he's a border security Democrat and everything else, if you think he believes a word of it or won't govern like a far lefty, good luck, Texas. Good luck. Who are those 12 % of people? I wanna meet him. Let's jump back. This is Tallarico. Because remember a moment ago, he's trying to sound a little more sane on the border, but here he is in January on what he would do with the border. Our Southern border should be like our front porch.
48:34There should be a giant welcome mat out front and a lock on the door. We can welcome immigrants who wanna live the American dream. We can build a pathway to citizenship for those neighbors who have been here making us richer and stronger. And we can keep out people who need to do us harm. You know, again, he's trying to sound normal and on the thinnest way it sounds normal, but a giant welcome mat. I have a welcome mat on my front door, but it's for people that I've invited to come into the house. Not for everyone to show up at the door and go, my God, it says, welcome there. Dave, what are you making for lunch?
49:06Everything they say is a lie and is a confusion and we need clarity. What we need right now is clarity. What we need to understand is it's not just that we're fighting these leftists and socialists and people who don't understand gender and borders and everything else. We are fighting Marxists and we are fighting Islamists. And there is a guy by the name of Charlie Kirk who a year ago gave quite a good speech on that. The spiritual battle is coming to the West, and the enemies are, wokeism or Marxism, combining with Islamism, to go after what we call the American way of life. And the American way of life is very simple.
49:43I want to be able to get married, buy a home, have kids, allow them to ride their bike till the sun goes down, send them to a good school, have a low-crime neighborhood, not to have my kid be taught the lesbian, gay, transgender garbage in their school. While also, while also not having them have to hear the Muslim call to prayer five times a day. That's important. We want the American way of life, which is, by the way, Christendom. Christians, our sacrifice, our toil, our vision, the outgrowth of the scriptures gave us. Okay, so we're going to spend a bunch more time. We have a local community Q &A coming up in a moment.
50:31There's a bunch of questions about Charlie, so I'll actually respond to a few of the things he said right there. But he understood what the societal fight was. And he was willing to say it earlier than most people. You know, there he talks about, we don't want the Muslim call to prayer in America. Well, it's happening in New York City right now. It is, literally, five times a day. Why should you have to listen to that as a free citizen? Like why should you? Why should our children be indoctrinated to this or that? By the way, this is a guy who, yes, he was a Christian and he wanted America to live by Christian values and ideals, but he was not forcing anyone to convert.
51:05He wasn't beheading anyone to do that. And he was respectful, he was more than respectful to his neighbors and wanted to welcome gay people into the fold of MAGA and all of those things. And that is why what we are offering is so much richer and more decent. It just takes a little more hard work to sell. And again, it is incumbent on all of us to sell it harder than ever right now because we don't have Charlie to do it for us. Let's talk about Shopify for a minute and then we have a bunch of questions and thoughts on Charlie. Starting something new can be intimidating. There's always that voice asking, what if this fails?
51:37What if nobody notices? That's why having the right tools matters and that's where Shopify comes in. 52:12That's shopify.com slash Rubin. All right, so I specifically asked the locals community yesterday to ask me questions about Charlie that I could just go off the top of my head and respond to. So we have a bunch here. Mitchell says, what do you think it is about Charlie that gave him the ability to unite youngsters on what sure looked like very hostile college campuses? I mean, you know, it's funny because Charlie had, he knew what he believed, right? He really did at a theological level, at a political level, he really did. And also that didn't come at the expense of wonder or curiosity with him.
52:45And I think that's what it was. he really believed that if through questions, right, through the Socratic method, that he could get some of these kids to wake themselves up. And you could see it in how he debated with a lot of them. So he'd go to a very, I mean, we did this so many times. We went to very hostile college campuses. I had done events, plenty of events before that on colleges where I never needed security. I guess they'd have like, you know, one police officer usually, like with me or by the stage or something like that. But by 2017, 18, when it really started getting hot, we'd suddenly have 10, 15 police officers, there would be protestors outside, we had to figure out where we could go to dinner because sometimes we couldn't, if we were having dinner before the event, sometimes we couldn't have it in the college, like little college town because there would be a problem there.
53:38Like it just became this very bizarre thing. You remember when Ben Shapiro spoke at Berkeley and they basically burned the university down, Just endless craziness. But Charlie, he believed that if he debated these kids and he asked them the right questions, he could kind of show them that they didn't really know what they were talking about. They wanted to lecture him and demand things out of him and tell him how awful he was, but he was incredible. Well, why do you believe that? And do you think that really happened? And how did you come to that conclusion? and I think he was fundamentally a curious human being.
54:15He really was. And also I can tell you this very, very clearly guys, in all my years of doing this, I've met basically everybody in the political space. I've met everybody in the media space. I think I've learned an awful lot. I was probably way more naive years ago and I used to think the best of everybody no matter what and give everybody sort of a second look if they did some weird things. And I've learned that a lot of these people are not to be trusted and all of that stuff, right? And maybe that's just, as you get older, you start realizing those things more. But Charlie did something magical that he could bring on these people onto the same event who held wildly different opinions and still get the audience to be respectful to them.
54:55It was just magical what the guy did. Hey26 says, Hey Dave, do you think there's any young man who can step into Charlie's shoes, not expecting them to be Charlie, but have the same ability to hold rational conversations with anyone, anytime. Look, I know a bunch of people are trying. I know Turning Point is still going to universities and I think they've sent Michael Knowles, who I think Knowles is great. Is he Charlie? No. Like, there's just nobody that did it with the subtlety and sense of humor. One thing that I really loved about Charlie was that if Charlie said something funny, or it would actually happen more if I was on air with him, and Charlie was a little more buttoned up than I was.
55:36He was a little less loose with language or whatever. And if I particularly, when I was on his show, on the Charlie Crook radio show, if I said something that was like a little blue or a little off color, the way he would smile, he'd kind of look off camera and he'd smile in a way like, I know it's funny, but just don't make me kind of smile and laugh at it right here with my audience. But that was it. He still enjoyed that. He just enjoyed that place. So I don't know that anyone, look, no one can fill those shoes exactly. It's sort of like, can anyone, will there be other great political leaders in our lifetime?
56:09Of course there will be. Will there be anyone like Donald Trump? No way. And I would say it's something like that. Cecito says, what's your favorite memory of Charlie? I mean, the thing that we showed you at the top where he was in so much pain and then gave me that wonderful introduction, that probably is it. But since I showed you that already, let me just think for a moment, something else.
56:36You know, I don't even know where this was exactly because we did so many of them, but I remember being in a car. I remember being in a, we were in the back of the SUV. They had, you know, like a driver and security guys with us and we had finished the event and oh, we went out to dinner. We went out to Morton Steakhouse. It was in, it was outside of San Francisco. I think we were at UC Berkeley actually. And it was a very tumultuous event that we did. And he just, like, I was like, man, like, I literally said, I was like, I don't know that I wanna do these anymore. Like, this is getting a little crazy.
57:10Like, it really was hostile, right? Like, it was really, really hostile. And he was just like, well, this is what it is. Like, this is what we do, you know? It's like, it's what we do. And like, he just had this way of like, it's just, it's all gonna be okay. It's all gonna be okay. I'll try to think of some others. They're definitely, they definitely are there. Kevin says, you had mentioned Turning Point is done a few months ago after Charlie's death. Has your mind changed and do you see anyone else picking up the torch? I really like Nick Freitas, but he's the closest I've seen. So Nick, who I've had on the show, who's great, and I think he is doing some stuff with Turning Point now.
57:44And again, they have other people that are doing things for them. The comment, it was one comment that I made on Twitter, I don't remember, it was maybe six months ago about Turning Point being done. My point really there was, I don't know that post Charlie, Turning Point knows exactly what it is. is he loomed so large. And I've seen people be critical of him. It's like he didn't have a number two. There was really no number two. And it's like Charlie was 31. How old was he when he died? 31? It's like, how was he supposed to be also planning for his succession from that organization? So right now, while Erica's doing an incredible job, and I don't know how much time she has to devote to Turning Point versus just being a mom and being there for those kids and trying to deal with all of that and everything else.
58:31I don't know exactly what Turning Point is right now. That is their great challenge. So I think I did tweet, yeah, something like Turning Point is done. I don't know that I meant it in like the most literal sense. I meant that, you know, I always make that comment about the Johnny Carson Tonight Show, that Letterman really wanted the Johnny Carson Tonight Show and he was willing to do anything to get it. And then finally his agent said, that's not the Johnny Carson Tonight Show. Once Johnny's gone, it's just The Tonight Show. It's something else. And that's what I would say turning point is right now.
59:02And they have to figure out what it will be for the future. I think I got that one right. Jeffrey says, did you and Charlie ever play basketball together? We didn't, I cannot believe it. He's been to this house several times and I've got a freaking full court here. I don't know how it is that we never played basketball together. I didn't even know. I don't even think I knew. Charlie and I talked politics. We talked politics. We talked media. We talked about our families. We talked about religion. I honestly don't know that we ever talked basketball. He was a huge, tall guy. So you would think I would have asked him about it.
59:35And then videos have come out that he was a heck of a player in high school, a pretty good shooter for a big guy. And we never did. I can't believe it. Vippy VIP says, you knew Charlie when his faith was quieter and later when it was the thing he said he most wanted to be remembered for. Watching him live it, especially how he treated you and your family, did that change anything in your own spiritual life or how you think about God meaning or how a person should carry themselves? What a wonderful question. You know, yes. Yes is the answer. We're constantly told in media that Christians are intolerant and they're not nice and they're mean and they hate gays and all of this nonsense, nonsense.
1:00:14Now I know it is complete nonsense, but when Charlie and I first met, nine years ago, I didn't know that it was nonsense And it was only through talking with Charlie that I was able to see that and see that Charlie did not have hate for anyone. And Charlie, there's many videos, maybe we can find one I can put on Twitter later. There's a great video from a couple of years ago where a young kid at one of these schools says that he's gay, but he doesn't wanna be part of the radical left and he wants to be a Republican because he believes in limited government and low taxes and da, da, da. And Charlie basically says, look, I have my religious beliefs, but we don't live in a religious theocracy.
1:00:54And I want you, you seem like a great kid and you have a bright future ahead of you. And I want you to be part of this movement. So Charlie, he did multiple things all the time. He didn't have to sacrifice what he personally believed at a religious level, right? He didn't have to sacrifice that to placate people politically because he understood that those two things are different. You want them to match up as much as possible, but unless you're gonna be the craziest theocratic ruler of all time, they're never gonna be like this. And if you get that, you probably have to kill a lot of people to do it.
1:01:26So I think he opened my mind to what other people thought. And then subsequently after meeting him, but one other tick on that would be that I then spoke at Liberty University, which is the largest evangelical college in the United States. And I spoke at their Sunday convocation, which was about 30 ,000 kids, biggest event that I've ever done, like felt like a freaking sporting event. and those kids knew who I am and what I do and the things that I talk about. And I had a wonderful, not only a wonderful chat at the event, but spent the day on campus meeting all sorts of kids from all walks of life.
1:02:01And it couldn't have been any better. And I think that's the spirit that Charlie tried to live his life with. EK and Izzy, is there anything you didn't get a chance to tell Charlie that you wish you could have? Oh boy, this is the last one. We're gonna show you one more Charlie video.
1:02:20I mean, I told him that I thought he was gonna be president. I told you that story yesterday. And if you haven't seen our little five minute video that we put up this morning, I recount that story. It was actually the last time I saw him at Mar-a-Lago at a PragerU event. And he said, God help us. I don't know. Yeah, I mean, in retrospect, if I knew he wasn't gonna be here one day, I guess I would have told him, man, you're a hell of a lot better than any of us thought. We all thought you were pretty great and doing all this great stuff, but you were even better than that. And then you held all these competing things and how did you do it?
1:02:52And how can we all be better at doing that and all of that? However, I don't think it's appropriate that we end today's show with my words. How about we just hear from Charlie himself and we will have a postgame show 30 seconds. Ruben report dot locals dot com. Oh, I should note this is this is the day. This is the last ever interview that Charlie did. This is about two hours before his assassination. And we'll end the show with that. And then we'll see you on the postgame show. Last question. what is a quote that you live by? Boy, a quote that I live by. I'm a big, I'm a Christian. I wear it on my sleeve.
1:03:28So quotes would always probably always be Bible verses. This is a, I'll give you two. One is actually not in the Bible. It's more mythological. And one is actually in the Bible. The first is not in the Bible. It's this too shall pass, which was actually, people think it's in the Bible. It's not. But it's King Solomon's phrase, which is really amazing when you think about it, because it's good no matter what season of life that you're in. If you're going through the worst of times, this too shall pass, and things are going to get better. If you're going through the best of times, though, it's really humbling.
1:03:56Like, this too shall pass, and this will fade away, because this will not last forever. So I love that. And they don't. Yeah, exactly. So it's a time-transcendent truth that applies towards all periods as an entrepreneur. It humbles you when you need it. It builds you up when you need it. It gives you hope when you need it. It also gives you a little bit of a dose of a gut check. One of my favorite verses, though, is Romans 8, 28, which it says that God works all things for good for those who love him. It's a very freeing and liberating verse for those of us that are Christians because we believe that when things can be really bad, God is working it for his good, his perfect and pleasing will, which is a very, very hard teaching when you come across business closures or staff layoffs.
1:04:33But it's very liberating that God is working all things towards an ultimate good. So I love that. And it kind of is very freeing that I don't have to be in charge of everything. And there is a God and I'm not him. And I surrender to his will.
