In short
25th anniversary of 9/11 and a discussion of New York City’s post-9/11 political/cultural changes, centered on claims of “Islamic takeover” and Zoran Mamdani’s alleged radical Islamist/communist agenda. Guests also argue that leftist policies, sanctuary-style governance, and DEI hiring have weakened NYPD readiness and public safety.
Guest backgrounds
Carol Markowitz is a New York Post columnist and host of The Carol Markowitz Show. John Cardillo is a former NYPD officer and political commentator/director.
Key claims
Mamdani is portrayed as an “evil” radical Muslim aiming to build a caliphate in the U.S. The episode alleges discrimination/unequal enforcement (e.g., Muslim taxi drivers not ticketed during call-to-prayer) and links this to broader European migration/security failures. Cardillo claims NYPD standards and training have degraded via DEI and lower hiring/promotions.
Notable examples
Giuliani’s 9/11 leadership video; stories of first responders and secondary deaths; a clip about call to prayer in NYC; a video (AI-translated) of a Spanish woman describing insecurity in Sota; references to “no-go zones” in Europe and to Spain/Scandinavia crime coverage.

1:06All right, I'm Dave Rubin. This is The Rubin Report. And joining me for today's Friday roundtable extravaganza is New York Post columnist and host of The Carol Markowitz Show, Carol Markowitz, and former NYPD officer and political commentator director John Cardillo, and also, of course, two great Floridians and former New Yorkers. And obviously, today is the 25th anniversary of September 11th. And actually, it turns out all three of us were in New York City on that day, which is partially why I wanted to have you guys on. But first, because you are my real friends in real life, but we only do this, we somehow only see each other in small boxes.
1:43How are you, crazy kids? Carol, how are you? Jealous of your August off, but other than that, you know, good. Hanging in there. Johnny boy, what's shaking? Feeling good. Took a couple of weeks off after primary campaign season, and gonna get back into the swing next week, but it's been nice being a man of leisure for a couple of weeks. All right, well, it's great to see you guys, as always, and I thought you both would be perfect for this September 11th anniversary. Obviously, there's a lot of weirdness around it. We're taping this on September 10th, actually, So Lord only knows what will be happening at the memorials when Mamdami shows up and all of that stuff.
2:26But let's punt the political controversy for a moment. And I thought we could start maybe. I've told my audience many times about my story about being there and my father who saw the second plane hit from his office. And that I had friends that couldn't get back to houses in the boroughs that stayed with me for days. and smelling the soot and smoke for weeks and the way the whole city felt like, almost like a zombie movie, a very apocalyptic zombie movie. People didn't honk horns. It was just very weird. I thought maybe you could each just for a minute or so share just a little bit about where you were, what it was like to be in the city that day, and then we'll dive into some of the stuff.
3:01Carol, take it away. So I was working as a paralegal at the top of the Chrysler building, and I was also volunteering on my first ever political race. I was thinking, oh, maybe I want to get into politics. and I was working for Herman Medillo. He was running for the Republican nomination against Mike Bloomberg and that was election day. So I was gonna be late for work. I went to go try to vote in my new neighborhood, couldn't figure out where to go vote. And then I tried to get a cab and no cab. Every cab was like, oh, too much traffic to take you to Midtown. And the last, you know, third cab that I pulled over, I just got in and he was like, listen, there's a lot of traffic.
3:35I'm like, I know, it's New York City at rush hour. I know there's traffic, just take me. He's like, you know, because of the plane crashes. So I didn't even have the opportunity to think, is this a terrorist attack or isn't it? I found out after both planes had crashed. And it was a really terrible time for New York, but it was also such a beautiful moment to see the city all come together and all try to help each other. and everybody wanted to live up to the example of those heroes who ran into those buildings. And, you know, I wonder if something, God forbid, ever happened now, if we would react the same way, if New York would react the same way, if we would all come together and be one again.
4:16And I'm not so sure. Yeah, unfortunately, I think we know the answer to that. John? You know, I've told the story about my NYPD side of my life so many times. But the personal feeling that morning was I had some friends in, so I wasn't working that day. Friends from Maine, actually. And we found out pretty quickly what was going on. I started to get calls from guys in PD and got an assessment of the situation pretty quickly, knew how bad it really was. And then once the second plane hit, I think we all knew, especially people coming out of my community, that this was a terror attack. You know, initially, the initial thought was it was a small plane that just went off course coming out of LaGuardia or Teterboro, whatnot, right?
4:59And hit. Well, once they realized it was an airliner that even, you know, 25 years ago had pretty sophisticated navigation systems. We were, you know, two decades in the GPS at that point. Once that second plane hit, we knew. And one of the guys said to me they had a certain radio code come over the radio. And we would make fun of it in the police academy. And it was basically the United States is under attack. Well, they weren't laughing. that morning. Right. And I think what really snapped me into what was going on. And one of the things I remember, and you guys will remember this as well. It was a Tuesday morning was one of the nicest days in New York city, not a cloud in the sky.
5:37It was like 73, 74, no humidity. And then I just heard this shaking. And I was like, is that another attack? Is that another building? And just these two F-15s came screaming down the river and did a steep ascent into a combat air patrol and that that would snap me into it and i turned my friend standing next to me and i don't know why i said it but i said wow they picked a really nice day to attack and then obviously in the days after that you're trying to figure out you know who you went through the academy with were they still alive were they hurt uh a good friend of mine who went over to the fire department because it was safer than being in narcotics didn't make it out of the buildings He went back in a third time, so a guy named Sergio Villanueva, absolute hero.
6:21Third or fourth time, they're not even sure how many times he went back in. The thing that sticks with me now, guys, I think we've even spoken about this at dinner, we've now lost more people from 9-11 secondary-related disease and injuries than we did that day. I mean, a friend of mine who had moved down here to Florida, St. Augustine, a guy named Chris Jones, Another guy was a hero. He, the famous story at the time, he commandeered a Snappalice tea truck and started driving people through the tunnel to New Jersey. He was a great friend of mine. We went through the academy to get rookies together.
6:53He died at 50 a few years back, his basically just full organ failure. And one of the sweetest, greatest human beings you'd ever meet. Sadly, being in the first responder groups, I see these stories every single day. So in a weird way for me, and I think for everybody who was in the first responder community at some point in their life, it doesn't really go away because guys are still, women, men and women are still dying. And one thing I just want to leave people with because they never got enough credit. And I know you guys will agree with me. We talk about police. We talk about the fire. We talk about the medics.
7:24We don't talk about the tradesmen. They were the first ones on the pile. The operating engineers, the heavy equipment operators, the iron workers, the welders, These guys were there before anybody. They're suffering the same diseases. Tunnel to Towers does a great job for them. But they never got the credit they deserved. And I think every year they should be remembered right alongside police, fire, and EMTs. You know, God, there's so much to say. And we'll show you a video of Giuliani in just a second, which just the juxtaposition of what Mamdami's been doing and what he believes in. Rudy, particularly at that time, is just extraordinary.
8:01But Carol, you both sort of hit on this. But the makeup of the city was so fundamentally different. And that's partly what has led to the rise of Mamdami, because we know it's all these first generation immigrants that are voting for him. And if something happened again, I don't think it would go that way. But, John, you also reminded me of something else. My dad had called me because when the first plane hit and I had just been laid off work, it was in what turned out to be my last ever day job. I had just been laid off work. So by 930, I was still sleeping. He wakes me up. I had just got a cell phone and I saw it ringing.
8:34And I was like, I never thought that thing was going to ring. I didn't need it. I didn't, it seemed ridiculous to me. And then I turned on CNN. But at that moment, we all thought it was just an accident, as you pointed out, that it was just a random thing that happened. And I vividly remember now, as you said that, when that second plane hit, it sounds cliche to say, but I remember thinking the world will never be the same. Because at that point, we knew we were under attack. And if you remember, they thought that there might be dozens of other planes and a whole bunch of other stuff. So let me let me throw to a video because Rudy Giuliani at that time, who we all have the pleasure of knowing in real life, and he's just he's just an incredible human being.
9:11He, I think, in some sense, saved America himself with his with his clarity and sanity and bravery and everything else. Here he is talking to Newsmax about that day. Mayor, what's the situation right now? It's one of the most indelible images of 9-11, the moment Rudy Giuliani became America's mayor. Now, for the first time, Giuliani retraces his steps from that infamous day. When I went to bed that night, I took out a biography that's been written of Winston Churchill. And I read the chapters on the Battle of Britain so I could get advice about how to motivate my people. and then i didn't fall asleep i i maybe 10 minutes here and there i kept the television on i remember at one point because i had gotten through the whole day and i kept it together and i i knew i mean i know emergencies and i knew i had done a good job and i said my father would be proud of me and i said dad you know i think you'd be i think you'd be proud of me i think i was in the right place at the right time And I don't know if I'm going to get through the rest of it, but at least I got through the first day.
10:28I mean, man, like, you know, it's funny. Politicians say things all the time. And you're like, ah, did you really do that? Did you really, you know, talk to your father? I believe him. Like, I absolutely believe him. Carol, do you remember just how impactful he was? And it just feels like it's a complete other world that we had leaders like that. So it's interesting. I was in my early 20s. And I don't want to say I was cynical, but I was certainly a little New Yorker, kind of had an edge to me. And I remember saying to my best friend at the time, and she was a big liberal. And I said to her, you know, I don't actually get what all the hype is about Giuliani.
11:04And she said, my super liberal best friend said, you know how you wanted to hide under your bed when you heard about the plane crashes? He didn't. He went out into the street and he stood with the city and he made everybody less afraid. And I had been a huge Giuliani fan. I mean, when there was the possibility of keeping him for a third term after this happened, I was extremely into it. But I hadn't given him the proper credit until then. And just one of those conversations that would never happen now because they all have to think the same way and that's it. But back then it was understood that he did something that a lot of people would be afraid to do.
11:39He's out there when we don't know if there's other planes coming and they might land anywhere. And so he was really a hero. And he wasn't just a hero on that day. He had been a hero for the eight years that he had run the city in such an amazing way that he cleaned up a city that was considered ungovernable and just unfixable. And he really did such an incredible job that, you know, it's taken for granted now. It's like, oh, those years where everything was great in New York, his eight years and then the 12 years of Bloomberg, it's all seen as like maybe accidental. But it wasn't. It was him. It was his work.
12:14It was the base that he laid down in the city that made all of that happen. John, the fact that the NYPD, that he was such a supporter of the NYPD, that they respected him, that all the people in all the institutions respected the guy, on top of the fact that he showed up, ran down there, had no idea, you know, literally, he's in the craziness. It was just extraordinary. Can you talk a little bit about what it must have been like for the guys around you to say, hey, that's our leader right now? You know, I was very fortunate. And one of my very, very close friends who unfortunately passed away last year was Bernie Carrick, who was the police commissioner.
12:53Also incredible. Bernie and I spent so much time together over the years. And he really he and I had long conversations. I mean, one night I remember till about 1.30 a.m. having cigars at Mar-a-Lago, just walking through this. Rudy was there as well at our table and some other people. And, you know, what most people saw in terms of leadership and command and control from Giuliani was and Bernie. and the chiefs, the fire chiefs, the fire commissioner, was only the tip of the iceberg. People don't realize guys like Ed Hartnett, the chief of the intelligence division of NYPD, dug himself out of Building 7 rubble and started getting his team back together.
13:31Rudy and Bernie were going from, with their security details, building to building to building downtown, trying to find shelter because stuff was still falling. Giuliani's motorcade came up, and they thought a sergeant stopped them. These are stories that I don't think ever made the media. And Sergeant said, you can't go any further. And they said, why? They said, look up. And they see all this debris. And they said, don't worry, we'll drive through it. These things are armored. He said, those are people jumping. That's not debris. But the thing that will always stick with me, and I was very fortunate five years ago, they did the police department's 20th anniversary at Cipriani in New York.
14:08Bernie and Rudy hosted it. And if there's anything that's a testament to the respect someone has as a leader, it's that every living chief who was there that day showed up to that dinner ODA 595 the Green Beret team that went in on horseback movie 12 strong they showed up to that dinner I had a couple of seal team six got I mean just the people that turned out for that dinner to show respect to the command staff was tremendous but the one thing that that sticks with me and it'll haunt me till the day I die is something Bernie Carrick would do Commissioner Carrick when he would give a speech and people would ask him about 9-11 and he'd end the speech and Dave, you would be the guy he would ask because of your cup.
14:50And he'd say, Hey, Dave, can I borrow that coffee cup? And you'd hand him the cup and he'd say, I lost 23 cups on 9-11 and I returned them all to their families in a cup smaller than this. And that's all that was left of the remains and not always put in perspective. And I don't mean to be morose or bring the mood down, but you really can't talk about this day without the cost that I think about that every other day. When he said, whenever anything about 9-11 comes up, that's the first thing that comes to my mind because it's so true. And maybe the fire department's cup was a little bigger, right?
15:22But that's the takeaway I want people to have, just the extreme cost of that day and how I think we've forgotten about it way too quickly. Right. And in some way, well, first off, thank you for sharing that. I mean, it's like in some way there's almost no way to properly convey it 25 years later, especially just in the online world that we live in. And people are so mixed up about history and what's right and wrong and all of the things. We all know we should be eating more fruits and vegetables, but getting enough variety every single day isn't always realistic. That's where balance in nature makes things easy.

16:30Instead of doing something on Mom Dami just straight from this. I thought we could talk about just culturally what has happened in New York that's obviously related to Mom Dami. Nate Friedman, who is, he's just fantastic. If you guys don't know him, I've had him on the show a couple of times. He really, he's like, he's like Nick Shirley. He goes out there and gets himself in what can be very precarious situations and asks the right questions without fear. He went to the mosque that Kathy Hochul was at about a week ago where she put on the hijab, where they don't do gay weddings, but she's an ally for the gays.
17:06Very bizarre. And he started just asking, he wanted to ask some questions about what's going on at this mosque and watch this. Carry a pistol. I'll shoot you next time. Oh, you're going to shoot him? We just have that on camera.
17:22The call to prayer is being broadcasted in New York City right now. Call me. They have to go off. How do you feel about the call to prayer being broadcasted here? Hey! Hey! You've got a parking ticket on this truck. Where are the parking tickets on these Muslim drivers' taxis? I noticed you're giving a ticket to this car, right? Yes. And what about all the taxis that are double parked?
17:50This is one of the most famous locations in the whole country. sought after by millions to come here and one day live here to live out their dreams to be in New York City. And now there's a call to prayer. Welcome to the Islamic takeover of New York City. Okay. So what's interesting, if you didn't quite catch it in there, when he's talking about the double parked taxis, it's that during the Muslim call to prayer, these Muslim taxi drivers are, as the ticket guy is saying to him, they're allowed to, they're Muslim, they're allowed to Double Park. I'm just going to give tickets to other guys. The Muslim call to prayer literally happening in the five boroughs now in New York City, 25 years after radical Islamist terrorists demolished those two buildings and killed 3 ,000 people.
18:35I mean, none of us, Carol, is there any way in our craziest nightmares could have believed that this is where we'd be at 25 years later? You know, I don't know that I didn't at least somewhat suspect it. The line after 9-11 was Islam means peace. And if we question that in any way, we were Islamophobic. I mean, that was George W. Butch was considered this crazy right winger who, I mean, you know, we don't think of him like that anymore. But at the time, he was the warmongering right winger who wanted to kill all the Muslims in the world. And yet he kept repeating again and again and again how Islam means peace.
19:14So I don't think I would have been, you know, super shocked by this. I was in England this summer and, you know, my kids were driving around and every time they spot a British flag, they're like, British flag. and it happened so infrequently that that became the game, like trying to spot a British flag in Britain. How many billboards did you see in Arabic? Well, that's the thing. There's so much more other cultures going on, but not British culture. And so I think what you allow other cultures to do in your culture is the problem. It's that the two-tier system in Britain is the issue. They can't fly their own flags.
19:57It's becoming more difficult all the time because their new arrival Muslims don't want that. So in New York, where some cars get ticketed but not the other cars, I think all of that is like part of one same thing where they're laying down the line and saying, we're going to do whatever we want in your city, in your country. And the thing is that the city saying, OK, yeah, come do it. Yeah. John, is there is there any way out of this for New York City? That is not insanely violent one way or another. If you'd have asked me this question 10 years ago, I'd have maybe had some positive answers and I don't want to be the most black pill guy in the world.
20:38But let me say this, it started during the de Blasio administration. And I'll give a couple of points of reference you guys will appreciate. So about eight, nine years ago, I'm out on Long Island at my brother's house, Dave, your old neck of the woods on the North Shore. And I had to go to the city for a meeting. I was a little early and I said, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to drive down Northern Boulevard, at a major drag, East West drag for people that don't know New York. And when I crossed into Queens in the Little Neck area, I might as well have been crossing into Sinai, Yemen.
21:07I mean, women in burqas, women in hijabs, women, you know, every sign in Arabic, halal meat stores every 10 feet. And I'm thinking to myself, this feels more like a takeover than migration. And then you had a guy like de Blasio hole out and Eric Adams, who was an epic disappointment. He knew better. You know, tired as a police captain. Beric was kind of a do-nothing as a cop. Keep that to my whatever. You know, this is the internet. You know, well, yeah, frankly. But anyway, he knew better, right? But Mandani to me is almost like the 12th Imam. Like he's an evil guy and he's here now to take the reins and, you know, cultivate all of this invasion that happened and create his own groundswell where he tries to create, I believe, and you guys know me, I am the least conspiratorial guy in the world, right?
22:03We make fun of people that are. But I truly believe he's trying to create a caliphate within the United States. I'm completely with you. New York City is going to be the starting point of that. And that's what I truly believe. I think Mamdani is an evil guy. I think he's far more of a radical Muslim than he lets on. And he is selling it, right? In the old movie, Usual Suspects, the greatest trick the devil ever played was proving to the world he didn't exist. And I think Mamdani is that personified. The fact that they did this flip from just, ah, we're democratic socialists to, yeah, well, we're actually socialists.
22:37Now some of us are communists. And that the subtle part now is, oh, we're actually also Islamo-fascists. And it just sort of, it just kind of trickled out. You know, a friend of mine in New York City has been texting me a lot lately saying that one thing he's noticing now beyond the call to prayer is that the halal guys, these are the cart guys that are in mostly in Midtown, they've always blasted their Arabic music. He said they're all blasting it louder now and that there's more of them than ever before. So they are emboldened right now. And it's simply, this has nothing to do with bigotry or prejudice or anything else.
23:13Prejudice is prejudging. You're allowed to judge. If you don't judge, you're an idiot. And there is something very, very rotten happening in New York City. And we should take a little warning from it. As you guys know, the big thing that happened in Europe over the summer was that Spain was quite literally invaded, mostly from people from Morocco, but Sueda, Spain, was invaded. And watch this. This is a video. It's an AI translation. But this is a mother who is a native Spaniard explaining how disastrous things have become in the last six weeks. I don't go out at night. I want to come home alone and drunk.
23:49Irene Montero, I want to come home alone and drunk. Why can't I? Huh? My children don't go to school. They don't go to school because I'm afraid. And my fear is not subjective. I have every right in the world to feel afraid. This is not the normality I used to have. I used to go to the reservoir to walk. I can no longer go to the reservoir. I used to go to the beach. I can't go down to any beach. Not the trampoline one. Not the Almadraba one. Not the Corrello one. one, none of them. What right? What right to that? You are taking things away from me in Suta, the fair, the medieval market, the playgrounds because of insecurity.
24:26And you are telling me that there is security here. You are contradicting yourselves. You are contradictory. You are incoherent. And you are liars and traitors and criminals who should all be in prison. We have become the shame of the world. And it is all because of you. So look, whether it's Sutta, where it basically happened overnight, I mean, 48 hours, something like 50 ,000 people around there, or New York City, as John, you pointed out, it's been this trickle effect for these last 20 years and sanctuary city policies and God knows how many people Biden let in and all that. Carol, the reason I wanted to show that video specifically was I like watching a woman with some righteous indignation on the right side of something.

25:06We seem to have so many Karens on the other side that are literally applauding for the people that will come for them and their children, their daughters and their mothers. That woman, she's getting it. She's getting it. Like she, her, the life that she had in that city is now gone. I don't know if you were online when the Souda thing happened because. Just for a day, for a day. The original blame, I don't know if you caught that, went to Israel. Israel had apparently told the Moroccans to invade Souda. And that's, you know, obviously. But I think that what the problem is in a lot of places is leftism.
25:44I'm willing to blame a lot of things on a lot of people, but the idea of leftism is we have to let everybody in. And here you have Spain having to make the choice of you said everybody could come. You were pro-migrant. You said that we had to open the doors. And now they're saying, here we are, take us in. So it's going to be a decision between survival and leftism. And any place that chooses leftism is going to have a problem. In Thailand, for example, I think it's like 15 % of the country is Muslim. They don't have the kinds of issues that Britain has with like 3 % Muslims because they don't have leftism.
26:24When somebody does something in Thailand, you get deported immediately. There was a zoo guy in Koh Samoy, Thailand, who wouldn't let Israeli tourists come in. Deported. Like, they just do not play. So you can have Muslims and you can have leftism. But if you have them together, you only have Muslims. That's a great point. If you're a business owner, you know expenses can come up at any time. Maybe your restaurant's ready for a second location. Your construction company needs new equipment. Or you need extra cash for payroll, inventory, or renovations. You do have to pay some of these people now and again.
26:58Sometimes you need access to capital now without jumping through all the hoops of a traditional bank. That's where Delta Capital Group comes in. If your business generates at least$25 ,000 in monthly revenue, you can apply for business funding from Delta Capital in just a few clicks. You can get approved in minutes with no impact on your personal credit and have funds wired to you within the hour. Whether you're buying equipment, stocking inventory, expanding your business, or taking advantage of a new opportunity, Delta Capital can approve up to$500 ,000 in business funding in under five minutes.
27:28If your business generates$25 ,000 or more per month, click the link in the description or scan the QR code to apply for funding. John, let me just ask you another version of what I asked you before, because I don't know that we fully pinned the answer. But do you think there is, how does New York City not become what London has become, what cities in Spain and Germany, and Germany just voted in their far-right lesbian, and we'll see what she, well, she's not necessarily going to be president or prime minister, but the AFD's got some momentum right now. Like, is there any way out of this? Like, paint me the way out that doesn't involve just craziness.
28:02I don't see it, Dave. And there's a million reasons why, but let's touch on and further something Carol was saying, right? I couldn't agree more leftism. But leftism isn't just permissive of migration. They proactively cover up the crimes committed, right? England has covered it for years, the Pakistani rape and pedophile gangs. Scandinavia was covering up the serial rapes committed by the Muslim migrants. We heard lie upon lie upon lie for years after 9-11. There's no such thing as no go zones in France. Those don't exist. It's not true. You guys have all met a buddy of mine. He was a DEA agent for years.
28:42Well, from 98 to 03, he was one of the country attaches for DEA stationed at the embassy in Paris. And when they were dealing with heroin traffickers, right, because large parts of the Middle East, a lot of heroin comes through Afghanistan and that part of the world, they would have to go out with the marine security detail to some of these areas because there were no go zones. And we're talking 25, 6, 7, 8 years ago. And so the leftists lie. And now what they've done in New York City is even more egregious, right? For years, and you guys remember this, we lived through liberal mayors. We lived through them mayors who let the cops do what they needed to do, like Ed Koch.
29:18We lived through liberal mayors, but there was always one trend. When the crime started to hit Central Park, the theater district, the West Village, the Upper East Side, West Side, Wall Street, then they would unleash the NYPD and things would calm down. You know, it's an unfortunate thing that they didn't care if people were getting shot in the Bronx or, you know, where I worked or East New York. But the problem we have now is a generational one. They've lowered the standards and they've lowered the hiring criteria for the NYPD to such a degree that you have cops who can barely do the job day to day.
29:52And when you see another 9-11, and God forbid, I hope we do not, but I do not have comfort in the fact that we won't. I don't think you'll have a department equipped to handle it. DEI hiring is a very real thing. DEI promotions are a very real thing. I had a friend of mine, a detective first grade, which is the top tier detective. They get the respect of a chief in the NYPD. Walked out the door because his commanding officer had 10 years on the job. But he was promoted because of race. Didn't know what he was doing. Should have never had the rank of captain. But bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, accelerated through the ranks.
30:28So you've got command staff that doesn't know what they're doing. And a very unfit, both physically, mentally, psychologically, department. and you still got some decent people there. Within five years, I believe you're going to have an NYPD completely incapable of doing the job. So, you know. Right, it's just such a compounding thing. You literally, they are unfit physically and mentally, as you said. Then you also pour a toxic ideology. So you don't even know what they believe or two-tier policing. We just showed you the, apparently the Muslim ticket guy who wouldn't give tickets to Muslims.
30:59And then you also have an administration that won't back them doing anything properly. It's like, that is a freaking toxic stew. Well, we will show a video of Charlie now because our friend Charlie Kirk, before he was taken away from us, he did warn about the rise of Mamdani and what could happen in New York. The rise of Mamdani should be a, it's a coming attraction of what is coming next. Who's Mamdani? Zoran Mamdani, the Muslim communist that is running for mayor in New York City. Who obviously is a whole rabbit hole we can go down there. He just looks kind of be like central casting and, you know, his ideas are terrible.
31:37He wants the city to run the grocery stores, all that. But I think everyone's kind of not everyone, but most people are missing the point of really what this is. This is yet another distress signal by young people to say, hey, if you're not going to fix our life economically, we're going to get very radical politically. Incomprehensible accomplishment of what President Trump was able to do. One of the reasons he was able to win younger voters and younger men, especially in big numbers is that they were trying to get their leaders' attention. They said, hey, this guy, Donald Trump, he is pledging to go fix our economic anxiety.
32:11He is loud. He is going to get your attention. Donald Trump was a distress signal by a lot of young people, especially young men that were stuck in a credit-centric renter economy. And again, this is what is the rise of Mamdani. It's just another iteration of this only from the left. Yeah, I mean, Charlie just had a way, guys. He nailed that. You know, Carol, to your point, you can sort of have leftism or you can have Islam, but you can't have both. He was warning that it's both going to come at the same time. The other part that he didn't get to there that I think is the really important part is that they are, whether we like it or, well, we don't like it, but they are coordinating better than us.
32:54They are getting out in primaries. They are ginning people up. And generally, people on our side have jobs and families and they're committed to the revolution. That is going to be tough to stop. Yeah, there's a Quinnipiac poll out today that says 70 % of Democrats feel aligned with the DSA. That's the Democratic Socialists of America. Those are communists. Like, I hate even using their own terminology for them. And when I say leftist, I literally just mean liberals, leftists. It's all one thing to me. I don't absolutely don't see a difference between Joe Biden's policies and Zoran Mamdani's policies.
33:31They're of the same ilk to me. And the fact is that the Democratic Party has been swallowed whole by these communists, and there's very, very few people on that side fighting back. The reality is that those policies have failed every single time they've been tried. And adding democratic, because you're trying to say that socialism is not usually democratic, is kind of a tell here. I think they're going to do what they have to do to get their policies through, and we should be really afraid of that. John, what would a sane society do if you had a political party that was committed to the destruction of the foundational principles, the economic system, all the cultural norms of a society?
34:12What should that society do? well, if we had a true opposition party, we'd be in far better shape. But let's face it, the GOP capitulates on pretty much every issue. The GOP is terrified to this day, and I don't understand it. You would have thought Donald Trump would have taught them a little bit about how to work the media. But by and large, GOP politicians are so terrified of being called racist, Islamophobic. So they'll only fight so hard. But a civilized society or a common sense society, let's call it Dave, would speak up. And Carol's 100 % right. Our side, not only does the left, not only they mobilize, both of you guys are right, mobilize and energize and they're passionate about it and they align.
34:55Our side does really stupid things out of the principles. No, I'm going to sit out, let the Democrats win. No, I don't like it. Because the guy that I loved in the primary who said every single thing I love, but he lost the primary and the guy running in the general only says 89.9 % of what I like. Well, screw you party. I'm going to sit out, let the Democrat win. I'm going to teach you a lesson. No, you moron. You're not teaching anybody a lesson. You're handing the United States over to its enemies. And so until we change that mentality, I don't even know how to answer that question. By the way, it's worth noting, I don't want to spend any time on him, but that psychotic nicotine addict who Charlie was talking to there is now supporting El Saeed, who is an Islamofascist terrorist supporter instead of Mike Rogers, the Republican.
35:45So people might want to think about that when they wonder if that nicotine addicted, demon infested lunatic is a Republican at all. However, there are one or two, you sort of got to this, Carol, there are one or two Democrats who are not completely bananas. The main one had brain damage two years ago, but as his brain has healed, he has become more sane. Everyone knows who I'm talking about, and he magically appeared at the Republican National Convention to endorse a Republican. Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I'm a Democrat. Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well, I'm a common sense Democrat.
36:21I'm always going to stand with America. I'm always going to reject the extremes in socialism and that anti-American way of life. Dave McCormick is the kind of senator that gets the job done and he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. I'm proud to count him as my friend. Right back over my shoulder, that's the iconic US steel mill. And that's exactly the kind of thing that will work together and will work with President Trump to fight and defend the steel way of life right here in the Steel Valley. I have this opportunity to introduce this great American, a great senator, and yes, he's in a different party, but I'm proud to count him as my great friend.
37:06So for everybody in Dallas, I'm here to introduce Dave McCormick. Guys, we checked on Rubin Report yesterday. The last time that an opposition sitting senator spoke, oh, interesting. We thought it was Joe Lieberman in 2008, although he was an independent. Oh, no, that would have been last. Yes. He was an independent. Zell Miller was 2004. Right. And then there was also, there was one other one, which was, he's getting it for me, but it was Joe Lieberman who was formerly a Democrat. At that point, he was an independent, but yeah, Zell Miller for Bush. So this is very rare what he did right there.
37:44Yeah. What I would say to Fetterman is exactly what I said the first time I ever talked to Bobby Kennedy when he was running as a Democrat. I said, I don't know if you'll be a Republican by the end of this thing, but I know you will not be a Democrat. And you know what, Carol? Fetterman's gonna come here and he's gonna be just fine, right? I think so. I hope so. But the thing is, he does still vote with the Democrats almost all of the time. He only really opposes them on certain things. And it is a kind of an attitude thing. He thinks that their attitude of hating the president or hating the opposition and not talking to them.
38:20He thinks all of that's crazy. I remember seeing Fetterman. He was mayor of a town in Pennsylvania late at night when I had maybe my first or second child watching TV and being like, this guy is going to be a problem for Republicans because he was so smart and so progressive. And I was like, ooh, this is really nerve-wracking. And to see him make this kind of change where I think he is not as progressive as he used to be. And I also think he's just not as crazy as his side demands that he be, has been really enjoyable to watch. I like that he spoke at the convention. I think it's the right thing to do.
38:59And I could see what the Democrats are mad about, but I could also understand why he did it. He did it to say, I'm an American first, I'm a Pennsylvanian first, and these are my values. He also, in a weird way, I think, he has nothing to lose because they are going to try to destroy him no matter what at this point. They already lockstep hate and despise the guy. Now they just hate and despise him, I don't know, 1 % more. Check out how CNN contributor Torre analyzed what Fetterman did right there. No, I mean, no, I don't, he has been sort of a traitor to the Democratic Party for a very long time.
39:36So, I mean, like, this totally makes sense. I mean, I'm not even sure, why does he not just become a Republican? I know, I remember what you say because you just might get it. And if it's a 50-50 Senate, you don't want that? No, of course I don't want that. I mean, I feel like Democrats love to hate Fetterman, but you will want him. But wait, of course you want that, but I just don't understand he has not really been part of the Democratic Party. You know, Carol, he's actually making the reverse point that you just made because you just pointed out he still does vote with the Democrats. Most of them, he's good on border and on Israel and like against some of the woke stuff.
40:13But he's not great on the woke stuff, by the way, on some of the gender stuff. So that's the irony. What Torrey is basically saying is you don't bow to us all the time, so you're not one of us. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders has left the Democratic Party. He's not a Democrat anymore, but yet he's welcome at everything. And he's pretty much running the show with the young set. So it's interesting that Torrey is not complaining about Bernie being in positions of power among the Democrats. he only has a problem with Fetterman for being nice to the other side. Well, Speaker Mike Johnson knows that Fetterman's on his way out, and I think he's going to try to give him a safe landing.
40:49Take a look. John Fetterman is an example of common sense. He does not side with the radical leftist, the insurgent left that's taken over that party. And we make the case all the time, this is not your father's Democratic party. I mean, when I grew up in Louisiana, I was a kid. I didn't know that many Republicans, but those were blue dog Democrats. They believed in God and country and hard work and the American idea. These Democrats do not. And John Fetterman's not on board. And so they're turning to attack him every day. They're trying to push him out of the party. He really doesn't have a place right now.
41:16I'm glad that he's bold enough to stand for common sense. That is Mike Johnson's subtle way of saying you are welcome over here. You know, it's interesting. We're all from New York. So, you know, we were all surrounded by tons of old school liberals. Back then, in New York, they weren't called Blue Dog because that meant more like Midwest or center of the country. But they were just sane liberals. Daniel Patrick Moynihan or Ed Koch, who you mentioned before, John. And the point is that MAGA, that is what MAGA is, really. So Fetterman will be OK in the end, right, John? Yeah, I think he's going to be fine.
41:48Look, I think I told you guys in a text message that he was hosted at a dinner by a friend of mine on Miami Beach. Very successful guy, Orthodox Jewish guy, and as conservative as we are. And his takeaway was, he goes, this guy's not a liberal. He said, I really can't figure him out, but he's not really a Democrat anymore. But he liked him. He said he was engaging and a lot of common sense, just a nice guy all around. You know, you've got to even look back to Tip O 'Neill and Reagan, right? The last time you had a president and a speaker be able to get along, people forget that Scalia and Ginsburg were best of friends behind the scenes.
42:25But I think that, you know, Fetterman is simply bringing back the way it always was. But these lunatics like Ture and Adam Navarro and then the rest of the DSA crowd, they don't want that. We've all been saying this for a long time, as have a lot of our friends. We're already at war with the left. They're the only ones fighting it. We still don't realize just how deep into this war we are. They're the ones who are fighting. They would love to see everyone. I truly believe they would love to see us dead or in some kind of gulag. They would love to take this country and make it a communist dystopia.
43:02Too many on our side don't want to believe that. You're conspiratorial. You're a crazy right-winger if you speak about that. Right, well, it's like they don't want to believe it until it's too late. And when it's too late is if the Republicans lose the midterms, Trump is done and he's impeached, maybe not convicted, but definitely impeached. Republicans will start jumping ship like rats. The thing will split. And then we end up with a Democrat in 28 who opens the border on day one. And then you'll be screaming or we'll all be screaming like that lady in Spain. Do you owe back taxes or have unfiled tax returns?
43:30Maybe you filed every year, but you still owe. Maybe you're retired and hit with an unexpected tax bill. Or maybe you're a business owner with messy books and a balance you can't afford. However your tax problem started, the result is often the same. The balance keeps growing. Penalties add up. Interest compounds and another tax year is right around the corner. That's why it's important to act now. Tax Network USA has been in business for more than 15 years, helping taxpayers nationwide resolve back taxes, unfiled returns, and other tax issues. Whether you owe$10 ,000 or$10 million, their team has resolved more than$1 billion in tax debt.
44:03They're offering a free investigation call with the IRS, and from there, they'll create a clear plan to help resolve your tax issue and get you back on track. The IRS can pursue collections through wage garnishments, bank levies, and property seizures. So don't wait for another letter or frozen bank account. Call 866-685-6604. That's 866-685-6604. or visit tnusa.com slash Dave or click the link below. Because Charlie's anniversary was yesterday, today is 9-11. I will not end the show with this sort of somber stuff. We're going to go to the 2026 Socialism Conference. And well, take a look at this image.
44:41These are the people that were fighting. I don't know if they think they're, well, that's just because they all smell, right? That's why they're wearing masks. So in this case, it's purely because of body odor. I think we can accept that. Here is socialist activist Deshaun Harrison talking about weight loss drugs and their connection to fascism. That black fat flesh anchors entire systems of governance. Without a population to discipline, there would be no BMI, no obesity epidemic. GOP-1s just mark a new phase in body fascism. The political deployment of GOP-1s is fascistic, not because individuals take them, but because the conditions under which they become necessary are shaped by a world fixated on genociding fat people.
45:26You know, I just thought of a great new tagline for Ozempic. The quickest fascist way to lose weight. You got to put a laugh in there. Post, we're going to put a laugh in there. Carol, I appreciate the laugh. John, there was a smile. I thought that was pretty good. Like, you can't even lampoon these people, can you, Carol? Like, you just can't. I really do need some body fascism personally. I've let things go too long this summer, you know, with all that freedom and all that eating. I need some fascism right now. I think it might even involve going to the gym. These crazy people, they just find something to be mad about, right?
46:02Like there would be no BMI if there was no black people to control. There would still be BMI. White people still have BMI. Right. Why would white people lose weight if there were no black people? It's so stupid. Right. You know, wanting to lose weight for me has nothing to do with any black people. So it's just they are constantly pushing the envelope. I have to imagine that they do that in part because some things will land. Like, yeah, we're going to laugh at Latinx and body fascism and whatever. But then some things will land and some things we're going to have to just keep. And, you know, I hear all the time that different Democrats are adapting this language and they're not going to call, you know, a shot spotter in Chicago, I believe, is no longer allowed, but they're going to have some other name for it.
46:49It's just stuff like that is really what they're all about. Constantly pushing the line and seeing where they can move it to. Well, to that point, this is the last clip of the show. John, you are going to have a field day, I warn you in advance. This is the Seattle interim police chief with some new language they're going to use. Yep. Working with business owners, increasing patrols, bike patrols, working with our community response group and our gun violence reduction unit as well, looking at ways to where we can identify individuals that are known, we call them trigger pullers in our community, identifying them, making sure that we're putting cases on those individuals, working with King County Prosecutor's Office to bring these individuals to justice because the families that lost loved ones throughout this year and years past deserve justice in his manner.
47:37Ah, yes. Those infamous trigger pullers. Who do they, like what, John, try, like try to steal, man. You're this man. Do you, how in the world does he think by changing what we would call a shooter or a murderer or something like that to trigger puller, who does he think he's protecting here? I just don't like the ring of drive by trigger pulling. I mean, now the Brits are going to call them, they're not going to be knife men anymore. What are they going to be blade thrusters? Yeah. Sanitizing language to downplay a chronic problem. Look, let's call it what it is. He's doing this for a reason. When you reconcile FBI, Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics, and U.S.
48:21Census Bureau statistics, young black men 18 to 24 account for 11 % of all homicides, murders, homicide can be anything, but 11 % of all murders in the United States. They're 0.5 % of the population. They commit murder rate 22 times their representation in the population. 90 % of their victims are other young black men of the same age range. It's an extinction level statistic. And so you get a liberal black police chief, let's just call it what it is, who doesn't want to confront the problem. So he wants to sanitize language and talk about deploying technology. and we know shot spotter works and all that stuff.
49:01And there are better ones now that locate even and hone in more critically on the shots. But this is all about band-aids on gaping wounds that need trauma surgery. So sure, let's sanitize language and call them trigger pullers thinking that might be a little less racist. And let's ignore the massive elephant in the room that are the criminal statistics about what's really going on. Let's not go into the inner cities and say, hey, why are black men 18 to 24, 22 times more prone to commit murder? Why are black men in general nine times more prone to commit all crime than white men of the same age?
49:39And until you can have those conversations, you're never going to solve the problem. I want to just add that he said known trigger pullers. So they literally know who these people are. Like they're going after known shooters and they're like, we're going to do better targeting the known ones. Yeah, the guys we didn't already arrest. Right. Guys, it was an emotional week, but it was a pleasure to spend the last hour of it on camera with you guys. And I thought, you know, I'm just coming up with this, but my guys are going to put it in post. We're going to end today's show. Thank you guys and have a great weekend.
50:14But we're going to end today's show with George W. Bush throwing out the first pitch at the World Series, which was about two months after 9-11, because that was about as good as it gets. That'll leave us on this Friday. We'll see everybody on Monday. Thanks, Dave. For tonight's ceremonial first pitch, and please welcome the President of the United States.
51:16Thank you. Mr. President.
