In short
Dave Rubin discusses election results in California and their implications for the U.S. midterms, focusing on Los Angeles mayoral race polling and runoff odds, plus a separate media-culture war story about CBS/60 Minutes leadership changes.
Guests
No guests appear in the transcript as interview subjects. The episode includes clips featuring public figures (e.g., Spencer Pratt, Steve Kornacki, Scott Pelley, Nick Bilton, Shermichael Singleton, Caitlyn Jenner, Steve Hilton), but they are not presented as in-studio guests.
Guest backgrounds (from clips)
Spencer Pratt (political newcomer/LA mayoral candidate; claims homelessness/housing experience after his life was burned down); Nithya Raman (City Council member; described as far-left); Shermichael Singleton (CNN contributor); Caitlyn Jenner (LA reality-TV figure; discusses LA “Democrat machine”); Steve Hilton (British-born immigrant; Republican CA gubernatorial candidate); Scott Pelley (CBS/60 Minutes journalist); Nick Bilton (new EP for 60 Minutes; investigative journalism background).
Key claims
LA’s Karen Bass is unlikely to reach 50% with remaining mail ballots, so a Bass–Pratt runoff is likely; mail-in ballots are portrayed as “baked-in fraud” favoring Democrats; Pratt’s momentum and “basic quality of life” messaging will help Republicans nationally; CBS brought in Barry Weiss to “reset” 60 Minutes, and Scott Pelley was fired for attacking leadership.
Notable examples
LA vote counts at 63.1% reporting (Bass ~35%, Pratt ~30.5%, Raman ~22%); Kornacki’s claim late-arriving mail could be more Democratic; Pratt citing January “new version of me” after his house burned; Hilton citing economic/business climate stats and “cut your costs” platform; Pelley termination “for cause” after confrontations with Weiss/Bilton.

You know, sometimes it looks great, but then you cook it and it just doesn't have that flavor or freshness you expect. So finding something reliable has made a huge difference. Wild Alaskan Company really changed that for me. It's the best way to receive high quality wild caught seafood delivered right to your door on your schedule. The first box I got was super easy to use. Everything comes individually portioned and vacuum sealed, so there's no guesswork. I cooked that wild Alaskan sockeye salmon just in a pan with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and it turned out fantastic.
0:34Clean flavor, great texture, and didn't feel like frozen fish at all. I've also tried the wild Pacific cod, which I love. It's light and flaky and really easy to work in when you need a quick dinner. What stood out is that the fish is quick frozen right after it's caught in Alaska, so it locks in that freshness along with the nutrients like omega-3s, and it's clean, no GMOs, no antibiotics, no additives, and it supports sustainable fishing and Alaskan fishermen. They're so confident in the quality that there's 100 % satisfaction, money-back guarantee, so there's no risk in trying it. Go to wildalaskan.com slash Ruben for$35 off your first order of premium wild-caught seafood.
1:09That's wildalaskan.com slash Ruben for$35 off your first order. Hey, Chicagoland, the Wayfair store is in your neighborhood at Edens Plaza in Wilmette. 1:51This is an app where they plot the human feces. We're gonna do maximum warfare against Republicans. You hit one of these people, that's their fault for impinging on you. All right, let's go eat some Chick-fil-A. What's that nice agent doing over there? Looks like he's beating on a Guatemalan grandmother. I've been on a diet since I was like six. So Mark Carney went to a Vancouver Pride parade. I... Yeah. I'm just trying to get comfortable. Hey, up there in the Negro balcony, can you see how comfortable I am with the trans and LGBT plus? It works. That's your finger. Yeah, right now.
2:35Can we get the translation on that one? He's like, dude, I'll do Chinese. I can't do Somali. Thank you. God bless you. I love you. Sir, this is a window. Start with the obvious. Yay.
3:01What's up, people? I'm Dave Rubin. This is The Rubin Report. It is June 3rd, 2026. And yes, if you have not purchased tickets yet, daverubin.com slash events. I am told that there's only a limited number of meet and greet seats left. People want the hug. They want the hug. You'll get the hug. Again, one second, and if you're with someone else, they are allowed to forego their hug for your two-second hug. That's it. And reminder, if you go to daverubin.com slash events and you add code PragerU, you get 25 % off either general admission or the meet and greet. Today is a good day. We got some interesting results out of Cali.
3:41Maybe Communist California is not gonna go completely crazy. How about that for a little alliteration for you? Got some decent results out of the mayoral election, got some decent results out of the gubernatorial election. Then we'll follow up a little bit on this story that we covered yesterday, the Barry Weiss rebooting or resetting of 60 Minutes. And I think it's, although it's sort of like an insider media story, I think it gets to a wider culture war point. And then Marco Rubio had just an absolutely all-star session during a Senate hearing on Iran yesterday and really showed why he has been, you know, if you're ordering that top 10 list of people in Trump's cabinet or in Trump's orbit, that Rubio just is consistently number one, then a couple other things.
4:26But let's dive in. We'll start with the mayoral thing first. It was not officially decided. However, the results are pretty decent for that wackadoodle crazy town. This from NBC with 63.1 % in. So this is basically where we're at right now. We'll talk about that kind of low percentage and why the mail-in ballot thing may complicate it in just a second. But with 63 % in, Karen Bass had about 35%. Spencer Pratt about 30 and a half percent. And Nithya Rahman, she's bananas lefty. Like she makes Karen Bass look like a moderate. She wanted homeless people to smoke crack outside of elementary schools or something.
5:09She's at 22%. So basically where we are at, Now this again is with 63 % of the votes in, which the fact that these elections, the fact that virtually everybody on television yesterday was like, we're probably not going to have a result tonight. That in and of itself already shows you that we have a massive problem with our elections beyond the fact you don't have to show IDs to vote in Los Angeles and more broadly California and all of that stuff. But short of anything completely insane happening with these remaining votes that are gonna come in, and mostly mail-in ballots. Short of pretty much them all going to Karen Bass to push her over 50%, Connor put the percentages up again, because it's pretty freaking close.
5:52They're within about four and a half points. Short of that, this thing will go to a runoff, which means if she doesn't get 50%, which again, they'd have to pull off something so fraudulent right in front of our eyes over the next three or four days, that I think it would be almost too much to pull off. You can pull off a certain amount of fraud and we'll all keep going about our lives. If they come back and they're like, Like yeah, 90 % of the mail-in ballots, the remaining 37 % all went to her and now she got over 50. That might be a bit much even for the kind of brain dead average Democrat in Los Angeles.
6:22So that means because neither one of them will get to 50 % in this, that there will be a runoff election. It's the top two candidates. So it will be Bass and it will be Spencer Pratt. And to me, there's a couple things here. First off, the longer the election goes, so now they're extending the election, right? Had someone got 50 % yesterday, it would have been over. But now the longer this goes, and now it'll go till November, there's a couple things here. Number one, it's better, the longer it goes, it's better for Pratt because all he's doing is just saying basic, common, decent sensibility stuff.
6:57The magic is the averageness in some sense beyond the cool AI videos. Bass has to protect her record of the city and all people have to do, as Spencer Pratt said on Gutfeld the other day, is look around, go to Los Angeles and look around just like I did two, three weeks ago and you will see the drugs and the homeless and everything everywhere. So the longer you extend it, I think that benefits him. But then I would say something that if you're not a Los Angelino and you don't really care about that town, but you do care about the country, here's the other part. The more that Spencer Pratt stays in the news, the more that we're talking about the disaster that a once great city of Los Angeles has turned into and that there's a solution, the better that plays for the midterms overall, right?
7:41This is where I'm always talking about the narrative stuff. And having this decent, not political guy out there because his house burned down and his parents' house burned down, et cetera, I think that plays well just narrative-wise for all of the other elections coming in November. And obviously the midterms are the key to almost the future of America because if they go the wrong way, Trump is done, and impeachment and all that stuff that we're always talking about. So I think there's a couple good things that happened here. It was virtually, I didn't know anyone that was saying Spencer Pratt was gonna outright win last night.
8:17So in some sense, this is the best possible, this is the best possible update right now and we'll see where it falls out. Let's get to some of the fallout specifically, this from the New York Post. Spencer Pratt has confidently claimed he's already looking ahead to a November runoff as election results Tuesday night, showed him comfortably in second place behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. She knows it's on, I hope she's ready, Pratt said on Tuesday. I literally could not be more excited. Pratt's bullish comments came as Bass advanced to the November runoff, while Pratt held second place ahead of Socialist City Council member Nithya Raman in third.
8:53While a large number of ballots remain to be counted, political observers increasingly view a Bass-Pratt matchup as the most likely outcome. You know, just to, even though I'm obviously happy about this and I think it's good for not only people of LA, but it's good for the country as I just laid out. Throw the numbers up one more time because think about it this way. Had this crazy Nithya Raman not run, so she again, she's the mom dummy there. So she makes Bass look like a moderate even though Bass is a far lefty. But if you add up their two numbers, she's basically Bass, because all the Nithya people would have voted for Bass.
9:28If Nithya wasn't running, all of those crazy people would have gone obviously to Bass, not to Pratt. So in some sense, having the crazy Nithya Raman run actually was the best thing that could have happened here. Also, just a weird thing about numbers and elections because that 20 % of people would have voted and that would have got Bass over the 50 % thing. And we'd be right now going, well, Bass's reign of terror continues. Here is Spencer Pratt talking about how Democrats, because it is a hugely Democrat city, Democrats are behind him. Oh, and there might be a guy upstairs who's checking in on this thing.
10:05Do you see an uphill battle in the next five months? Absolutely not. I think the next five months I'm going to have time to build out this team to show everybody the level of Democratic supporters that I have behind me, the heavy hitters that are in this room that are all behind me. And I think this idea that I don't represent Democrats and Republicans and independents, anyone that's just a Los Angeles citizen that wants basic quality of life, I'll be able to show that in five months. Right now, the media likes to say, oh, he's this. I'm not that. I'm an Angeleno who said enough is enough. And I had to step up.
10:38I didn't know I'd be here tonight, but it's obviously God's plan. And I'm going to go all the way and I'm going to show everybody that I'm their mayor. Guys, again, there's something exciting here. You don't have to care about LA. You really don't. You know, I had six great years there and then two insane years under COVID and I got the hell out. And I don't enjoy going back that much because of how disastrous it's become. And everybody that you talk to that lives there, all they talk about. I forgot what it was like. My last two years there, every time we'd have dinner with somebody, they'd be talking about how terrible it is or where they're thinking of moving or whatever.
11:11Then I come here to Florida where everything's flourishing and everyone's happy. And then when I go back to LA, even just a couple of weeks ago, and I had dinner with two of my friends who were still there and they were talking about how bad everything is. Now, the question is, as we now will have, you know, let's say five more months of this. Yes, I think the momentum goes towards him. All he has to keep doing is say, look around. What could Karen Bass do though? and this will be the tricky part. We know that when the Democrats want to clean things up, they actually can, right? Think about when Xi Jinping, president of China, came to California, came to San Francisco, what was that, about a year and a half ago?
11:48And suddenly Gavin Newsom got all of the homeless people out of San Francisco. We showed you videos on that. They were sprawling drug addicts, drug dens everywhere. And suddenly for that weekend, they were all gone. And then the second the guy left, they all came back, so they are able to clean it up. So if you're Bass, I mean, this is cynical as hell, but if you're Bass, you could do a bunch of things to make LA appear to be much better for a little bit, and that would hurt. So Pratt, there's a game afoot right now, and we should be very, very aware of that. But what I like about Pratt also is that, as I always say, I like people who aren't particularly political, and it's usually liberals who get mugged by reality and then in essence become conservatives or they just become sane.
12:31So I thought this was interesting. We're gonna show you two things here. One's from MSNOW and one's from CNN. Kind of just average people who you wouldn't necessarily think are hardcore Republicans who are voting for Pratt. Cam is at the very front of the line before you go inside. Cam, you got governor's race and a mayoral race here. Have you thought about who you're gonna go for yet before you go in? Yeah, I think I'm gonna vote for Matt Mahan for governor. The mayor of San Jose. Yeah, mayor of San Jose. Like his issues on housing, I think he'd be a good governor. Okay, and how about for mayor?
12:59For mayor, I'm leaning Spencer Pratt right now. Are you? Okay, no kidding, man. It's nice to meet you. All right, so there's what's the first. As a Democrat, are voting for Spencer Pratt. Yes, sir. Why is that? I do like his approach for the homelessness. As a person who used to be homeless myself, I was rendered the services that he's talking about. I was able to change my life, 10 years sober with no alcohol and stuff like that. So his approach is really good. Okay, so obviously those are just two little anecdotal things. But the first guy, he's voting for Matt Mahan for governor. now, he was the San Jose guy.
13:30We showed you one video of him. San Jose, he, San Jose Mayor, he turned San Jose also into a crap factory and he'll disappear. That doesn't matter. But that was just like some average guy, this, you know, just average looking whatever, just like, yeah, Pratt, why not? And then the other guy was a drug addict and realizes that, oh, the things, he was a homeless drug addict and the things that Karen Bass does are not the things that will help these people. if you take someone on super meth, and yes, it is a thing, and you just put them in a bed, it's not going to help. Let's flashback a little bit because this is from January.
14:08Oh, no, no. Well, we'll flashback a little bit. And this is Pratt referencing something that happened in January about how he kind of woke up and it kind of leads to where he's at right now. I'm going to be the mayor that talks to the constituents. Like, I don't ever want to be in the office in City Hall. I want to be the voice because that's all I got. People are like, what's your experience? I'm a fighter for the truth now because you burn my life down, my house, my parents' house down, my neighbors' house. The Spencer these people think they know is not who they know. January 7th made a new version of me, and I just want to be the mayor that fights for communities.
14:42And all the communities I go to, I hear the same thing. No matter, you know, people go, he's only here. I'm everywhere. A lot of communities don't want to post because of retaliation, because they're scared. their city council member who already is not listening to them or the mayor's like oh to be a successful mayor i just need to be the voice of these people because if i get elected it's the people that put me in i went against the full machine and that's my whole duty is to be like i'm gonna be out here in these streets with the people so yeah a conservative is just a liberal mug by reality or when your house burns down and you suddenly go oh i don't think these people care very much about me, but I like what he's saying there.
15:19Again, he's saying, I'm not the most experienced. He's fully admitting it. He's not pretending to be anything, right? He's saying, I'm not, but you MFers, you did this to me, and now I will be the voice of the people, and I will go against the machine. And you guys really gotta understand. And these Democrat, when you think of these Democrat-run cities, LA and Chicago and Detroit and Portland and Seattle, blah, blah, blah, where everything consistently gets worse and they're Democrat run for decades. And somehow the Democrats remain, not only remain in power, but then they somehow trick people into thinking that it's the Republicans who caused the problems in the first place.
16:01And he's basically like, I will fight that machine. And I am telling you guys, as someone that lived in Los Angeles, that machine is so freaking corrupt, it's beyond imagination. What was it? I think Connor worked for me for maybe three days when he came, got him out of CHOP. I moved this poor son of a bitch from CHOP in Seattle. He comes, moves to LA, and then we went to, what was that woman's name? Sheila Kuhl. There was a woman who was sitting on the Los Angeles City Council Board. This is in fall of 21, and they had a vote to decide whether they should close the outdoor restaurants again. As crazy as that was back in, no, it was fall of 21.
16:39I might fall. Yeah, fall, oh, okay, got it, got it. But it was fall of 21, and she then was the 3-2, she was the deciding vote to re-close outdoor restaurants. And then she literally went out to eat at her favorite outdoor restaurant, an Italian restaurant in Santa Monica after that, because it wasn't gonna kick in till midnight that night, which if you felt that people were gonna get killed. Anyway, I illustrate that because that's how corrupt they are. They do everything in the quest for power. They wanna punish you while they never have to deal with the horrors that they push upon you, kind of like Gavin Newsom literally having dinner at one of the most expensive restaurants in all of the country, French Laundry, with lobbyists indoors, not wearing masks while he was shutting everything else down.
17:25So the point that Pratt is making here, and I'm telling you guys, I think this is really good for the midterms, and you know I am not, everyone is freaking out about the midterms and I'm not as freaked out, I could be wrong, but I just think the radicalness of the left, The commie stuff, they now in, what was it, in Michigan, they voted in some guy who's like part Al-Qaeda. Yeah, literally, we can get some info on that. Give me info on the Al-Qaeda guy who's gonna be in, yeah. Like the more we shine light on that and the more that now this election gets a spotlight as we lead into the midterms and with the 250 of America coming in July, I think it's good.
18:03And here, so here's Sher Michael Singleton, who again will be on the show this Friday over on CNN. You know, he subs in for Scott Jennings sometimes when Scott's like, you know, I can only deal with so much of these people every day. They bring on Shermichael to clean it up. Here he is explaining a bit more about what Spencer is doing. It's not magic if you think about it. Hey, I'm running out to drop off a stack of letters and packages. 19:16Shop today at Wayfair.com. Wayfair, every style, every home. We are still in the era against the establishment. It's as Harvard professor Michael Sandel said, this push against these technocratic elites, the individuals who lead, who are well educated, a ton of experience. And yet, despite that experience, the broader public is saying we're rejecting that because the tangibles are no longer tangible for us. It reminds me of Bill Clinton when he gave his speech at the DNC convention in 2024, and he spoke about the average lay person. And he said people are coming to political leaders saying we have problems, solve them.
19:53And for many voters in L.A., I presume that they do not feel the incumbent mayor has resolved many of their issues. And so you see someone who is non-traditional, doesn't have a lot of experience, go from 0 % to 22 % while the city mayor has been flatlined for the most part. This is unnormal in most environments. Yeah, I think that's right. I would actually add a slight amendment or addendum to that, which is it's not that most people are saying solve our problems. A lot of people are saying that, solve our problems. And I think some of that's a confusion about what government's supposed to do because government really shouldn't solve your problems.
20:29It should get out of your way. I would say most people should, your relationship with the government should be that the government should be sort of pushed as far away from you as possible, except for the basic services, right? This is why I've always, I never really considered myself a hardcore libertarian, even though I have a bunch of libertarian means, because I do believe in some slim trim sensible government. So it's not that you want the government to do for you, but what you wouldn't want the government to do is make things worse, right? So the government of Los Angeles, of California, has made things worse, whether it's the drug stuff or the homeless stuff or the economic conditions, high taxes, high regulation, pushing business out.
21:11So that's like, those are two different things. One is, one of the things is a mistaken approach. Please help me, please help me, please help me. Government's not good at that, right? Nine scariest words, Ronald Reagan, you know it. And then the other version, the more healthy version, and the version that our country is founded upon is how about a government that's slim and trim and small and that all you do is you elect people who could keep it in the box that it's supposed to be in. So they're not really there to help you, but they're not there to make it worse. And if they do make it worse, you don't reelect them, which unfortunately has been happening in these blue cities and states for a long time.
21:43Here is video of Steve Kornacki over on MSNBC. I know they love these dorky guys at big screens. And here he is explaining that the mail-in ballots could still help Karen Bass. But again, it would be, I just can't imagine how they could suddenly be like, yeah, we got the remaining 37%, 95 % of it went to Karen Bass and we're not gonna go to a runoff. But here's Kornacki. Remember, the final piece of the puzzle that we won't know tonight, right, is the late arriving vote by mail. And we're talking about probably like a third of the vote in Los Angeles. We're probably not gonna be getting until tomorrow and maybe days to come after tomorrow.
22:25That mail can still come in after Election Day. And there's indications, and there's certainly a ton of precedent here, that that late-arriving vote by mail is going to be significantly more Democratic-friendly than all of the other vote. Meaning that that would be good news for Bass. That would be good news for Rahman. If she's going to come out of tonight behind Pratt, it's a huge if, but if she's going to come out of tonight behind Pratt, well, it's not a huge if at this point, she would then have that opportunity if she's close enough to catch him with that. Okay, so for those of you that were really paying attention to that, he was doing that earlier in the evening than what we reported on.
23:01So when he was doing that right there, it was only 39 percent in and subsequently Bass's numbers went down, Pratt's numbers went up. But that's not why I'm showing it to you. Why I'm showing it to you is you could see that they're just kind of like seeding the ground. Like, yes, you know, Democrats do get an awful lot of mail-in ballots and we'll never know. And it could come in tomorrow or the next day or the day after that. And who knows? Again, they would have to pull off something that would be so obviously fraudulent, right? because now 63 % are in. So that means the remaining 37 % and she'd have to win 97 % of that.
23:30That seems a bit bridge too far kind of stuff for me, but also the idea that, okay, fine. If you wanna make some argument for mail-in ballots, in very specific cases, you can, right? There are people that are in old age homes that have medical conditions. Okay, you wanna have some very slim rules to allow for that, fine. But once you give mail-in ballots to everybody, You're telling the system, man, bake in the fraud. Bake in the fraud. When I lived in LA in the last election that I voted in, which was the recall of Gavin Newsom, and I was obviously campaigning with Larry Elder, we got the mail in at my house.
24:04And I was like, there's no way in high hell I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna go to the polling station. And I did go there. And as I've told you the story many times, they wouldn't even look. I pulled out my ID and they wouldn't, they like kind of freaked out. They don't wanna know your ID. They wanted to know your name and address. So you could literally be anyone. You know your neighbor's name, you know your neighbor's address, congratulations, you're your neighbor. So they want a certain amount of fraud built in. And the other reason that you would know that is, why is it that mail-in ballots are allowed to come in days after the election?
Read the full transcript
24:32At the very least, you would say the mail-in ballots all have to be in by, I don't know, the day before the election, perhaps. They have to be postmarked and in the day before so that on election day, we can have results for election day. But they don't want that. By the way, I mentioned the Al-Qaeda guy who's now gonna be over there in Michigan. Yeah, real quick. Adam Hamawi served as a translator for Omar Abdel-Rakman, a radical cleric convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing before he donated to Benevolence International Foundation, which has been designated as a funding front for Al-Qaeda.
25:07And congratulations, there he is. Sorry, I kept saying Michigan because they've got a whole bunch of jihadis over there. It's New Jersey. So where's Tony Soprano when you need him? I'm like, oh my God, like, so congratulations Jersey, you got an Al Qaeda guy, like, good luck with all of that. Caitlyn Jenner, who I usually come to for a cracked political analysis, was on Fox right before me yesterday on Martha McCallum, and her argument really, and by the way, when I say her with Caitlyn, Caitlyn is a biological male, that is true. Caitlyn I've met a few times and has treated me with respect and I will treat her with respect.
25:43That's not denying biological reality, I know this is a bit of a sidebar for the clip, but that's how I've decided to treat this trans issue, right? Like if you treat me with respect, I'll treat you with respect. It's not denying what I think reality is. Caitlyn is still a biological man, but has made a choice as an adult to live a certain way. And respect is a two way street. So a bit of a sidebar, but I'm just mentioning that. But here's Caitlyn Jenner, who is basically been in Los Angeles for about four decades, knows Spencer Pratt quite well. I think one of Caitlin's kids was on a reality show with Spencer, right?
26:20Wasn't one of the kids on the Hills, I think with Spencer. And here she is talking about how the machine of LA likely will never let Spencer become mayor. Everybody gets mailed out a ballot to send in. It's been going on for, I don't know, three weeks now. I see on TV thousands of these ballots that they're just fumeering through, so open for fraud. I just don't feel like the Democrat machine here in Los Angeles can ever let Spencer Pratt become mayor. I mean, it would destroy them. So that, for me, is a big problem that we have here in California. Yeah. So that gets to this sort of baked in fraud or feeling that there could be fraud.
27:12I'll give you one other anecdotal thing. I know somebody that's lived in Florida for two years or so that left LA, that is a Florida resident, Florida card carrying, you know, driver's license resident of Florida, who got a mail-in ballot back to their old place in Los Angeles. Think how many people, we know over a million people have left Cali. I don't know exactly the numbers of how many have fled Los Angeles specifically, but I'm sure it's a high percentage of the people who have overall left California. And how many of those people left and then still got a mail-in ballot at a house that they're not at anymore or an apartment that they rent or something else.
27:48So like, there's just so much stuff in there. But again, I would say to put a pin in this for now, this is good. Karen Bass did not win. That's the most important thing. And now there will be months where we will keep talking. You don't have to care about LA. You don't have to care about LA, but you should care about the country. And the more of these cities, we just give up, but we've lost New York for now, at least. You don't wanna just keep giving up all of these cities. And for as many of these blue cities that are long gone, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, et cetera, maybe we'll get one back.
28:19And that's a win, right? It's a chess game and that's a win. So that is good. Let's talk about Relief Factor for a second, guys. You know, I love Relief Factor. 28:50You guys know I'm playing ball three days a week, three hours a pop. I'm 50 in a couple weeks and I come back and I'm banged up. Everything, everything hurts. But I'm telling you, I've been taking Relief Factor, which is why I don't mind taking it on air. And I will pop them, you just pop, it's four pills. You can take one packet of these a day. And it's not opening. Come on now. You take one packet of these a day, and I'm telling you, you will feel better. Like the aches and pains, little shoulder stuff, little hip stuff, it just goes away.
29:23There you go. So if you want to take their three-week quick start, it's just$19.95. Just try it for a month or two, see if it works. And I'm telling you, if you've got just some weird stuff, it will work. visit relieffactor.com or call 800-4-RELIEF. Okay, let's continue with Cali for a second because something else happened as well. They had a gubernatorial race. We've been focusing so much on the mayoral stuff over there, but California had a gubernatorial race. And in this case, as it stands right now, the Republican hot diggity damn with a British accent right out of Downton Abbey, he's leading.
29:56Yeah, this from the New York Times. Steve Hilton, as of 58 % of the votes in, Associated Press has about 28%, about 1.3 mil, a little more than that. Becerra, the Democrat, 25%. Steyer, the billionaire, who the Democrat socialists endorsed and said that they would behead him if he doesn't behave, he got 20%. And Chad Bianco, other Republican, got 11%. This is really, really good. So this will go to a runoff too. And it looks like, because it's two guys that will be in the runoff, it will be Hilton versus the Democrat Becerra. Hilton's a good dude. I've done his show a couple of times when he had a show on Fox for a while.
30:37He doesn't come off as like Mr. California because he's got that British accent, but he loves America, he loves freedom, he's a really good communicator. Cali's done some weird things for governor before, right? Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor, so maybe something's actually brewing. Maybe these progressive MFers pushed enough of us to the edge of oblivion that even in communist California, they're pushing back. So let's go back to these dorks with a screen. Here's Steve Kornacki talking about mail-in ballots to defeat Steve Hilton. Or it's just gonna have to be such a flood of Democratic ballots coming in after, being tabulated after election night or into the wee hours this morning that would just lift both Democrats over Hilton.
31:28That's increasing what it needs to be just dire. Hey, Kornacki, when you're not licking that screen when you're off camera, might I offer you something? Why don't you guys do a segment on why is it that all of these mail-in ballots, you guys always talk about mail-in ballots and you're like, yeah, they all go to Democrats. How about you analyze that a little bit? Why would that be? Why is it that in Democrat-run states, mail-in ballots, which come after election day, all seem to go for Democrats? Is that, are you curious about that at all? Or you just pump numbers? You just crunch numbers all day long.
31:59So, you know, you were kind of hoping there, right? It's CNN, you want Democrats to win, but somehow there'll be enough to stop this guy, but it's going to a runoff. And here is Steve Hilton talking about how excited he is to continue this operation. As a proud American, someone who loves this country so much, this is my first time running for office. And when we just passed that number of 1 million people, and it's now over a million voting for me. One million Californians and rising, putting their hopes in me to bring change and put our state back on track. It's an unbelievable honor, something I absolutely take so seriously.
32:40I won't let people down. We've got to turn this state around. And I think tonight looks like the first step down that very important road. And I'm going to have me tea and crumpets and the whole thing's bollocks if I don't win and blah, blah, blah. Like, but how great. Here is a guy who, with that accent, who comes to California, becomes a citizen, sees the craziness, and now wants to restore California, crazy commie Cali, back into something that has some semblance of America. That's what America is all about. And by the way, he's an immigrant. Why aren't the Democrats supporting the, oh right, he's not illegal, so they don't count him as an, and British people, and he's white.
33:19It's an awful lot with this guy. here's Hilton referencing a bit from Arnold Schwarzenegger who I mentioned a moment ago this really nice moment I remember when I became an American citizen that certain governor you may remember he said congratulations he made a very nice video he said but Steve you got to get the wrong jacket you got the wrong jacket and I made a pledge that day that one day I would get the jacket that Arnold told me to get on my road to being governor of California and here it is. I am a proud American. There's the jacket. And I am a very proud Californian. A very proud, a very proud Californian tonight.
34:07It's nice guys. And, and, you know, for contrast, Try to imagine a Democrat going on up there and being like, and look, I have the American, boo, hiss, where are the tomatoes? And I've got a California, well, we sort of like it because it's communist. We could maybe keep it communist. Like that's the difference between the parties. And by the way, that difference will continue to be seen. You know, on Memorial Day, we mentioned when we came back on Tuesday after that, how many Democrats didn't even acknowledge Memorial Day on Twitter. Well, you'll see what happens around July 4th as Republicans are celebrating and Democrats won't know, how would you celebrate this country?
34:47If you're a modern Democrat, if you're a progressive, how would you celebrate? How would you walk around with the American flag inside your jacket? How could you? This place was founded on slavery. We have systemic racism. Well, capitalism is bad. And Donald Trump's in the fascists. You can't. And the more they do that, the more it will push sane people to us. And here's one more from Steve Hilton on, well, being a sane person. My mission is very straightforward. Cut your costs, help your business, fix our schools. That's the foundation of everything else. We got to get our economy back on track.
35:25Right now in California, we have the highest unemployment rate in the whole country, the highest poverty rate in America, tied with Louisiana. And chief executive magazine ranks California as 50th out of 50 for business climate. We got the highest cost of living, highest gas prices, highest housing costs. That's why hundreds of thousands of people are leaving. And even more worryingly for our long term future, so many businesses are leaving. So we're not generating the wealth and the opportunity. Isn't it interesting what he just said there a moment ago? Remember, we were talking about how there's a certain set of people that say government fix this problem for me, give me this, blah, blah, blah.
36:06And the government's not good at that. Everything, the prescriptions that he offered there, get the government out of the way, create good economic conditions, less regulation, make sure businesses can stay because when businesses stay, people have jobs. It's not rocket science. So it is quite spectacular that a white British immigrant is potentially the next governor of California. I mean, I'm telling you guys, there's a lot of good news today. In terms of, speaking of good news and things being reordered, we covered it yesterday, but Barry Weiss took over CBS News about a year ago now, and she is rearranging the deck.
36:46And you might say, or she's rearranging the chairs on the deck, and you might say, well, it's the Titanic and it's sinking anyway, so what's the difference? But she's trying to turn it from something that has been basically part and parcel of the Democrat Party into something that is more, let's say even keeled. Certain people are not that thrilled with her. We'll cover that in just a second. But first, Shopify. Starting something new can be intimidating. There's always that voice asking, what if this fails? All right, so as I always talk about it, look, mainstream media has has failed us in so many ways.
37:54And yet I still, as someone that's doing this thing online, and has been doing it for a long time, I still think there is a use for mainstream media. And if mainstream media was to completely implode, I think it would actually be dangerous because we at least need something to bounce off of. And that's really the purpose that mainstream media serves at this moment. So all of the networks obviously went crazy far left and anti-Trump and all of that stuff. Everyone knows that. And finally, about a year ago, CBS News was like, you know what, this ain't working. Like maybe they thought it was working ideologically, but numbers wise and financially, they're still a company, they're a corporation, they wanna make money.
38:33And they were like, boy, we're purging viewers, we're doing the same thing as NBC, we're doing the same thing as ABC, et cetera. Maybe let's try something different. So they brought in Barry Weiss, who as you know, she's just like a nominal liberal, sane liberal, who you might agree or disagree with, but she's not a wackadoodle progressive. She brought it in, she's cleaning it up, and she has now started to fire some people at 60 Minutes, which has been a major outlet of propaganda for years. Well, as an update to yesterday's story, they now fired probably the biggest name who's still remaining at CBS News, because they fired some correspondents, but now they fired Scott Pelley, who you likely know.
39:13Here's NBC talking about Pelley blasting Barry Weiss, then we'll get you caught up. According to a source in the room, Scott Pelley said that editor-in-chief Barry Weiss was brought in to kill 60 Minutes and is doing exactly that. Pelley also blasted the show's new EP, executive producer, telling Nick Bilton he thinks he has slender qualifications for the job. Pelley and reps for CBS did not immediately return our request for comment, but that's as a bunch of networks journalists wrote a letter to Paramount CEO today, urging him to send a clear message to staff, viewers, and the public that David Ellison respects editorial independence and press freedom.
39:52Okay, so Scott Pelley, who said that Barry Weiss, who's his boss, is trying to murder 60 Minutes and that the new guy she brought in to run the show, this built-in guy, and we'll have more on him in just a second, is trying to kill it. Well, they were not happy with those remarks and they fired him. And of course, this would happen in any organization. if Joseph over here went to Phoenix and said, you know, Dave's really killing the Rubin Report. He's murdering this thing. He doesn't know what he's doing. He would not have a job anymore. Just FYI, you know, that's how it is. Someone's the boss.
40:29And if you say that the boss is ruining the product, the boss might go. The boss who, by the way, was brought in to change the direction. She's not doing anything out of the blue. She was brought in to change the direction of their newsroom. and that's what she's doing. Pelley doesn't like it. And well, he's walking, well, he's not walking away. He's getting the boot for going after his boss. You know, if you're gonna sit in a room and tell people, boy, this guy's destroying the thing that I work for and they're the boss, the boss might take you out. That's like basic human interaction stuff. We'll get to more on the specifics of the firing in just a second.
41:03But here's Scott Pelley's, what is it, maybe two weeks ago, commencement address at Wake Forest University. Fear, fear, fear. He's a fear monger. Fear, fear, fear, fear, fear, fear. play the clip but in this moment this moment this morning our sacred rule of law is under attack journalism is under attack universities are under attack freedom of speech is under attack and insidious fear is reaching through our schools, our businesses, our homes, and into our private thoughts. The fear to speak in America. God, Orwell would have a field day with these guys. is journalism is under attack. Yes, well that's because you guys turned 60 Minutes and CNN and the Washington Post and the New York Times, et cetera, into lefty outlets, into an arm of the Democrat party.
42:14We showed you the clip. I won't have to show it again today, but we've shown it a million times of Trump on 60 Minutes, explaining Russia, Russia hoax, explaining Hunter Biden laptop to, what's her name? Who was the woman, 60 Minutes woman, Leslie Stahl. and she, no, we don't do that here. We're journalists here. Well, you were wrong about everything and Trump was right about everything. So you guys have a political agenda. So yes, journalism is under attack. It's because of you. Universities are under attack. Well, yeah, they're under attack from socialists and jihadists who put on terrorists masks and stop students from going to class and who take over complete departments to teach young people to hate America and things of that nature, right?
42:56And the idea that people are afraid to speak, well, who's usually afraid to speak? It's sane people because if you say that a man is a man and a woman's a woman, it's people like you who will run a 60 Minutes episode explaining that trans is real. Like, you guys have done this. You have done all of this. But even all of that aside, at the end of the day, you basically can't say your boss is a effing FF. You just can't. That's just not how it's gonna work. and here is, well, Barry's the new boss of the network, but the new executive producer of the show is this Nick Bilton guy, new EP, and here he is.
43:33I meant what I said in my letter last week to the 60 Minutes team. Joining 60 Minutes is the honor of my career, and I'm grateful to be working alongside people who have contributed to the most important television journalism brand this country has ever produced. While I'm new to 60 Minutes, I've devoted my career to investigative journalism and storytelling. I started this job excited to collaborate and to benefit from the wisdom and experience of 60 Minutes veterans with you among them. For that reason, one of the first things I did in my new role was to call you to talk and invite you to dinner.
44:03It is a profound disappointment that you rejected the overture and chose to ambush instead. Obviously, he's talking about Scott Pelley here. Yesterday, you hijacked my first meeting with staff to disparage me, my qualifications, and my intentions with remarkable incivility and contempt. I welcome a diversity of viewpoints and respectful debate among the team, but this was nothing of the sort. Yesterday's performative display of hostility enacted in front of the staff instead of in a civil private conversation demonstrated that you have no interest in contributing to the future success of the show or approaching my new tenure with a mind open to collaboration and progress.
44:40I'm here to deliver first in class news programming, not to make headlines about newsroom drama. I'm eager to work alongside those who share this goal. Despite yesterday's misconduct, I had hoped that in sitting down with you today, we could figure out a path forward together. You made clear that you are not interested in such a path. Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear and I have heard you. I therefore write on behalf of CBS News to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated for cause effective immediately. Enclosed is your formal termination letter.
45:12Sincerely, Nick Bilton, executive producer 60 Minutes." So again, putting aside the political part of this, if you go off on your boss, if a boss is brought in, new boss, old boss, doesn't matter. Conference room, you're at a conference room and there's a dozen people and you're belittling your boss or you're insulting your boss or you're insulting your boss's boss. You likely are going to be fired, particularly if you do it in a performative way. That's not to say you can't have frustrations with your boss. Sure, no one in this room has ever had a problem with me, but there could be other work situations, right?
45:47That's confirmed, yeah. There could be other work situations where you might have a problem with your boss. And there is a way to sit down with your boss. As a matter of fact, joking aside for a second, I always tell Phoenix, like you guys should argue with me. If you think I am doing something wrong, bring it to me. Bring to me any philosophical issue that is on your mind. If I say something that you don't think is right or true, bring it to me. And I always say when it comes to the content of the show, I'll win some and you'll win some, but I will never hold it against someone for bringing me a good faith argument.
46:16If I found out people were secretly behind my back, saying horrible things about me, then you have a problem. But that's what this really is about. But now the whole mainstream media is up in arms over all of this. We've got a bit more here from Jeremy Barr, who's a reporter at The Guardian. New, Barry Weiss just addressed the termination of Scott Pelley on the network's morning call just now. And here's Barry Weiss's comment. I know I speak for myself and I hope I speak for everyone here when I say that I'm only interested in working in a newsroom that is built on trust and mutual respect. We cannot do our work without it.
46:53That foundation was broken on Monday. And despite our attempts to engage with Scott Pelley and to find a way back, unfortunately, we weren't able to do so and we had to part ways. We did not want that to happen, but that's the path that he chose. That unfortunate outcome does not discount from the amazing contributions and work that Scott Pelley has done for CBS and for 60 minutes over the course of his career. She then listed some of the stories from this past season and call them unforgettable stories. So look, she's the boss. She's running the newsroom. The guy she just hired, Nick Bilton, is the executive producer of the show.
47:28And if Scott Pelley doesn't like it, he obviously dealt with it in a highly immature way. Might I also offer that the chair is the thing that's worth something on these mainstream media things, meaning nobody's looking for cable news anymore. The people that are watching cable news, they've been watching it forever. So you just turn on CBS news in the morning, or you turn on NBC nightly news, or it's Sunday night and you just turn on CBS, meaning more people are fleeing from those things, but the people who are there are just turning, it's like habit in some sense. So the cast of characters who they have on the show, they're completely interchangeable, right?
48:08It just doesn't matter. So if Abby Phillip at CNN, if she was fired tomorrow and they just brought on someone else, it doesn't change the ratings. People just tune into that and they like it or they don't like it. Scott Pelley, what I would say to Scott Pelley right now is if you think you're so, you've been paid millions, I don't know that his salary is out, but it's millions of dollars a year. You've been paying millions and millions of dollars a year. There are all sorts of us online who do these shows independently. We do them from our garage. If you are great at this, you no doubt have tons of connections, access to money and everything else, Let's find out how great you are.
48:45But you were just a chair there. That's really the truth. And you are not indispensable. And by being basically a dick to your boss, I think they prove that to you. Here's a bit more, here's a statement from Scott Pelley. There has never been anything in America like 60 Minutes. The Sunday tradition is the most successful program of any kind in history. For more than a decade, its innovative growth on every major online platform has extended its reach to countless millions around the world. This spring, at the end of our 58th season, 60 Minutes grew rapidly with an unheard of 9 % jump in viewers on CBS.
49:2160 has been the number one program in America for decades because our beloved audience finds integrity, quality, and humanity in our stories. When stewardship of the program passed to my colleagues and me, our responsibility was to expand energetically into a new age of media technology while preserving the values our audience expects. Now, the new owner of our network is casting this legend aside apparently to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration. God, the waste is heartbreaking. Last month, 60 Minutes lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause.
49:56Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood up to fairness against the forces of political bias. They stood up for professionalism, against chaos. For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I've been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them. Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over 60-minute interviews is not how this is done.
50:25Finally, incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wrecked havoc. In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all. At 60 minutes, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owe that to our millions of viewers. I am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to keep up the good fight. Most of the men and women at CBS News are still in that fight, but now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable. The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable.
50:57The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well. I depart after 37 years at CBS with one emotion, a heart brimming with gratitude for the men and women of CBS News who encouraged and enriched my work, very often at the risk of their own lives. I pray for a day when those people and their ideals are honored again, when sanity, competence, and courage returns, Scott Pelley." So look, that statement, I don't know how much of it is true, actually. He's claiming that they tried to inject certain things that weren't true into stories. He will be able to talk about all of that, I suppose, now that he'll be independent or if he's unemployed or whatever else.
51:30But basically what's happening here, I think that the real bumper sticker on what's happening here is that CBS chose to go another way. It's boring to talk about the partisanship of mainstream media at this point. They became hyper-partisan. The Leslie Stahl Trump interview is the height of all of that. We know about mainstream media editing stories out, very fine people hoax, cutting sentences that Trump said and all of these things. So no one is just, you're not just worth millions of dollars. You're just not, right? Okay, you worked there for 37 years and I have no doubt that much of the work you did was good, Scott Pelley, but okay, take, What I would say is take this opportunity now to build something, build something on your own and see if it is worth anything.
52:14See if people tune in or if it was just the chair. But again, that story, although it's a little media insider, I think these narrative things are important and maybe if CBS orients back towards something a little bit centrist, maybe NBC, ABC, maybe CNN, et cetera, we'll get the cue and then maybe we would have something indecent again as it comes to the landscape of journalism. All right, we'll pause that there, talk about Chef IQ for a minute, and then we'll get to this absolutely spectacular, just Rubio put on a show at the Senate hearing yesterday. Just a second, we'll get to that. Father's Day's coming, guys, and if you're looking for a gift that dad'll actually use, check out the Chef IQ Sense.
52:55It's a smart thermometer that connects to your phone and takes the guesswork out of cooking. It tracks your cooking in real time and lets you know exactly when to flip, rest, and serve. Whether it's steak, chicken, burgers, or fish, the Chef IQ sense works on the grill in the oven, or even the smoker. I have used it there. No more guessing. If dinner is done, just check your phone and you will know. It's like having a cooking coach right in your pocket, and it's something dad'll use every week. Right now, Chef IQ is running a Father's Day sale with 40 % off site-wide. Go to chefiq.com and use promo code Rubin.
53:26That's chefiq.com, promo code Rubin, for 40 % off site-wide. Okay, so there was a Senate hearing on the Iran situation. As you know, we had a 40-day, roughly 40-day military conflict. Took out their Navy, took out their Air Force, had total air superiority, blah, blah. Took out much of the military leadership. The Ayatollah, that guy was pretty influential. He's gone too. They got the new Ayatollah, who I think is missing a leg and is gay. It's a lot over there. But we are in a bit of a stalemate as these ceasefire negotiations go back and forth. And the Strait of Hormuz seems to be the main part of this that everything is hung up on.
54:05So here are the, this is just, we're gonna show you, I think, four videos here. And this is just, it does not matter what you think about whether we should have done this war or how the war is going or anything else. I want you to think about what Marco Rubio is doing here. He is the Secretary of State. It is his job to explain the policy of America and to, I would say, very specifically in a Trump administration to explain more granularly the big things that Trump says. Trump, I always say, Trump's good at the really bumper sticker stuff. And the reason Rubio comes off so great these days is he then, he just knows everything.
54:39And you can see it, and he doesn't have to look down and read it. He doesn't have to read statements or anything else. He knows what's going on. So here is Cory Booker implying that we are the ones begging to get a deal right now, despite the fact that Iran is losing$500 million a day. Booker doesn't say that, but they're losing$500 million a day in revenue. that is a fact. But here he is trying to imply that we are begging for a deal. Here's Marco's response. You're the strongest nation on the planet Earth, and we're in a stalemate with Iran. And now we're begging to get back into a deal that you all trashed in the first place.
55:12There's no one begging. I don't know. Clearly, this is a shame. Senator Booker, Senator Booker, your time's up. Senator Rubio, since he's calling it, I do want to address some of these points because they go to the heart of the matter. No one's begging for anything here. The Iranians might be begging because their economy is losing hundreds of millions of dollars a day that they are losing. Understand, Iran had street protests going on before all of this started. All of those factors, economic factors in Iran, are far worse today than they were six months ago when those protests were happening.
55:38They have hyperinflation, their currency is completely devalued, they're struggling to make payroll for their government workers. Iran is in a very serious situation, and if it was up to the political class there, and I understand everybody there is sort of radical in some way, but if it was up to the people that actually like go to elections and wear the suits and you see on TV, they'd probably make a deal tomorrow. The issue they're facing is that the Supreme Leader and the IRGC Corps are a little bit more immune from those pressures until they can be convinced otherwise. Okay. So again, this is just a masterclass by Rubio.
56:07There he is calmly explaining detailed things and that we aren't begging. Look, does Trump want a clean win here? Does Trump want the Iranians to right now come back with whatever his last offer is and be like, you know what, we can't take this anymore, we'll sign. Of course, of course, but that doesn't mean we're losing. We are in negotiations and as Rubio points out, they're now in hyperinflation, they're sitting on oil that they cannot get out. It's bad for China, which is why even when Trump went to China two weeks ago, China was like, hey, anything we can do to help this Rand thing along?
56:40Because they get oil from there. So Booker, it's just, it's the usual kind of bloviating nonsense. And speaking of bloviating nonsense, Here's Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut. But the strait is closed because of our decision to invade Iran. This is a consequence of our military action. So I guess I'm not interested in litigating that question. We all know why the strait is closed, because you took military action against Iran, and we knew ahead of time that that would be their likely response. The question is, how are we going to get it reopened? First thing, that is a predicate to anything else happening.
57:14The straits have to be reopened. So the way to think about it is this. If Iran wants to be able to move its oil again through the strait, they will have to reopen the straits. If they refuse to do so, then we have other options available to us, but we would prefer to negotiate the opening of this. Yes, of course we would prefer to negotiate. That's what a ceasefire does, and that's what negotiations are about. Iran is going to have their position. Again, they're the ones, no pun intended, who are over a barrel here. They're the ones whose economy is in shambles. They're the ones whose military has been completely blown apart.
57:48We're doing just fine, we are. I know there's a certain set of panic-ins that think that we're not, but we're doing just fine. And we are trying to figure out the safest way to not only reopen the Straits. I mean, in essence, it's closed because of us, because we're the one with the blockade. Iran is threatening to occasionally shoot some ships, and that is keeping some ships out, right? The average guy doesn't wanna take his tanker through the Strait of Hormuz, knowing that Iran might shoot you. but we are the ones that are in control here. Here's Rubio on that. Tell us about the negotiations.
58:19What do you need from them in order to get the strait reopened? We need the strait reopened tomorrow. Well, what needs to happen is very simple. They need to announce that they will no longer fire on commercial ships that are going through or threaten to fire on ships because in many cases, ships just won't move. They won't go, not because they got fired on but because of the risk of being fired upon. And so they have to announce very clearly, the straits are now open, we're not charging a toll, we will help remove the mines that they put in there and they will not fire on ship. But the president - All right, so Rubio's being, again, pretty damn clear.
58:48He doesn't have to look at his notes. We just checked the numbers. America gets about 2 % of its energy, meaning 2 % of America's energy goes through the Strait of Hormuz. Let's also keep in mind that we now have access to Venezuelan oil. We're digging and drilling again, et cetera, et cetera. So we are not hung up. It's not like we're in some sort of energy crisis. That's not to say that gas prices can't go up. They went up for a little bit. They're largely down now. and I suspect as we roll into the midterms, they will go down again, right? Trump will make sure that happens. He doesn't want high gas prices as we're rolling into the midterms.
59:19But when you're talking about the world's energy and who's again, over the barrel here, it's China who's losing about 13 % of what they get. And it's Iran who can't, they can't do anything. If you just have a whole bunch of oil and you export it, well, you gotta shut off your pumps. You gotta figure out how to store it. It's useless to you at some point if you can't sell it. That is the point. That's what's giving us leverage right now. Here's Rubio with a bit more. The only reason there's a blockade, the only reason why there's a U.S. blockade is because Iran has closed, they're firing on commercial ships, and they've mined large segments of Hormuz, international waters.
59:56And so the blockade is only against Iranian ships. And it's very simple. The notion is, if no one's ships are going to get out, then Iran's ships aren't going to get out either. We can't live in a world in which they get to close the straits and tell everybody, pay us a toll or we'll blow you up. but their ships get to go out on Fedor. So that's the reason why there's a blockade. Right, so again, who, if this just, let's say it's three months from now and everything stays exactly as it is, who is hurt more? Is it the United States that's maintaining a military blockade? It's not very dangerous for us to do that, right?
1:00:27Because their military is so banged up. Or is it Iran that, as Rubio pointed out, is going through hyperinflation right now that has a populace that's really pissed that their own government is not paying some of their people and that they're losing$500 million a day to their economy. It's obviously them. So even though everyone wants this wrapped up, I want it wrapped up. As I just pointed out, Trump would love this thing wrapped up. Everyone wants it. But it's this weird thing with the internet. Everything moves so fast now that if you do anything and it doesn't get the resolution that people want like this, then everyone starts freaking out.
1:01:01Maybe everyone just needs to take a breath every now and again instead of doom scrolling everything. That's where the panic and idea came from. Here's one more with Rubio. just trying to clean up some of the just utter, like, listen to this ridiculous woman. This is Jackie Rosen from Nevada, Senator. And just Rubio just cleans up a whole bunch of nonsense here. So, Mr. Secretary, Congress represents the American people. We have the power to confirm who represents America abroad. We confirmed you to be our secretary of state. We confirmed you to be in the negotiations that are happening. And it's just unthinkable to me that you are not, you are missing high stakes negotiations or that you're not involved.
1:01:38Number one, the vice president of the United States was there, and he wasn't confirmed by us, and he was elected by the American people. He is the second in line of the presidency of the United States. He was present. Mr. Whitcoff is the president's envoy for negotiation for peace deals. Mr. Kushner is a private citizen that serves as an advisor on these functions. They were the team that we sent to Pakistan. I was not at a party. Where I was is next to the president, because in the midst of those negotiations, I was in communications with them. And in fact, I think there is media reporting from that evening on how multiple occasions I went into a back room.
1:02:09I came back out and spoke to the president and was constantly updating him. On that evening, I spoke to Mr. Kushner and our negotiating team and Mr. Woodcoff on at least six occasions, including twice on a secure line from from the phone they had access to over there. You don't know what you're talking about. Senator Rosen, he has a floor. I know your staff wrote up this cute statement for your TikTok video, but it's not true and it's not real. That's not what happened. That's good. He's really good. He's really good. She's reading a statement. She sounds like a third grade teacher reciting something to the class.
1:02:40And he just cleans it up. Here's where I am. Here's the calls that I took. Here's who I spoke to. Oh yeah, I was on a secure line. Da da da da da da da. And also the idea, no matter what you think of this war, the idea, I mean, basically she was like, you were at a party and not paying attention. The idea that Marco Rubio is not on the ball as it relates to all of this is just profoundly absurd. So I'd have to say there's been a nice theme of the show today, which has been, there are some sane people waking up, obviously in LA, more broadly California. We've got some competent people in our government right now.
1:03:13And actually that's a perfect segue to the final segment today, which is that we are also doing a major job cleaning up this fraud stuff. You know, the Democrats always want more money. What do they want? We want more of your money to throw at these big government programs, but they never want you to look at fraud, right? Because they want to money launder through all of this. Well, now Dr. Oz, who really has become another all-star in all of this, they're starting to look into Obamacare and how much money is just going through the system that is just absolutely fraudulent, that is not going, they're taking taxpayer dollars, putting it through the Obamacare system and finding out that about 25 % of the money, and it's an awful lot, probably fraudulent.
1:03:54Let's talk about Obamacare. Let's take a step back. 2015, 16, 17, 18, 2020, there were 9 million people on Obamacare. 9 million. Today, it's more than 20 million. Like, what happened? We believe that 35%, roughly, of the people that are using the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare exchanges, because they've never used the program once, they've never filed a claim, may not be legit. And that actual number may translate to, I don't know, 5, 6 million people. we could be paying premiums for. Okay, sorry, I think I said 25 % of the dollars. I meant 25 % of the people, obviously, but then the point is when they're on these rolls, how much money is running through the system for people that aren't even actually legit?
1:04:40And this is consistent with everything we're finding out through virtually every government program period. The other huge thing that Oz has been looking into is this hospice situation in LA, where one third of the hospices in the United States of America are in Los Angeles. Now, I know they got a lot of zombies wandering the streets there on their super meth, but those are on the streets. They're not in hospice. Yes, are they dead? It's a fine line between zombie and actual death or return from the dead or whatever you wanna say. But we are now finding out that huge amounts of money have been laundered through this and they've closed 850 hospices in Cali alone.
1:05:20Other states have also been problematic. California comes to mind where we made several trips of late. One third of all of the hospice in the entire country. And hospice is a precious, beautiful program built in the 80s to take care of people with dignity in the last months of their life. Classically, someone has metastatic cancer, they're going to die. It's going to happen in a few months. Give up your Medicare, because why would you want Medicare? You don't need all those things. Take hospice instead. But that trade has risks with it if you don't actually have a lethal problem. And when one third of all the hospices in the entire country are in Los Angeles, not even California and Los Angeles, that creates issues.
1:05:56Our agency has now suspended payments to 850, almost half of all the hospices in California now have been suspended. You think, I mean, think how insane that is. So 800, and they found that 850 hospices in California were fraudulent. Something was going wrong. So they've suspended payment. Now you would think if these hospices were legit and they suddenly stopped getting payment, that people would, that I don't know, people would just be, these people are going to hospice to die, right? So you'd think people would just be dropping dead left and right, but we are gonna find out that that actually isn't the case because actually what are these people at these hospices doing with the money?
1:06:30Well, it's the same thing as they do at the Quality Leering Center. They put up a sign that doesn't even spell learning correct. They say, it's a hospice. We're in a strip mall. It's a hospice. There's no people here, but there's an awful lot of BMWs and some McLarens outside. What the hell's going on here? Here's CBS under Barry Weiss looking into some of California's fraudulent financials. I wish I could show you what's behind here, but I can describe. I've seen over a dozen Ferraris, Lamborghinis, a Bugatti Lotus, several G-Wagons. These are just some of the assets the government has seized from fraudsters who have taken your taxpayer dollars and bought some of these ill-gotten gains.
1:07:15LA's top federal prosecutor Bill Ossaley showed us around this U.S. Marshals warehouse. It should offend every American taxpayer that these people are taking advantage of the system and enriching themselves. These items had been owned by Paul Randall, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud this year in one of the largest Medi-Cal fraud cases in California history. Wait, I just had him googling saying how much is a new Bugatti? It's really 4.1. A new Bugatti? Can we get a picture of a Bugatti? It sounds like something you'd have with a little red wine, but it's a car. We'll get a picture of a Bugatti up.
1:07:49A new Bugatti costs over$3 million. Can you imagine you're running a hospice? Sir, what do you do? Well, I run a hospice. We have 20 patients at a time. We are trying to help them die with dignity. What kind of car do you drive? You think, well, Honda. I'm running a hospice. It's a humble job. No, I have a Bugatti for over three. Do we have a picture? Over three. I'm driving a Bugatti. That seems like a guy who's going to hospice. Un-freaking-believable. So now let's try to tie this thing all together. We'll go back to Karen Bass, because in the midst of this election, which is seemingly mostly about homelessness and drug abuse, well, what's she doing?
1:08:29She's gonna give the homeless people more beds because there's nothing someone on super meth and fentanyl needs. They just need to take a nap. It has nothing to do with the economic conditions or the crazy drugs or the psychosis. It's just about housing. Today we're filling the gap when Social Security no longer covers the cost of a mortgage or rent. Today we are bringing help for caretakers with disabilities who struggle to make ends meet. And today we are investing in housing as part of our work to lower the cost of housing for everyone. Today we are preventing homelessness and increasing housing affordability with the release of$14 million in housing assistance and$300 million for housing.
1:09:21In essence, what she's saying is, we'll just throw more money at the thing we're always throwing money around. And Spencer Pratt should have been there in the back yelling, look around, lady. These people are huge swaths of them are on massive amounts of drugs. You guys have tried all of these things. We've shown you the video of 15 years ago when he was mayor, almost 20 years ago, mayor than Gavin Newsom in San Francisco talking about his 10-year plan to eradicate homelessness. And then it exploded in San Francisco and it exploded in Cali where he became governor. Also, she says at the top of that, this is for people whose social security doesn't cover mortgage.
1:09:56Well, social security is not really supposed to cover mortgage. You're supposed to live, the general idea would be that you would live responsibly throughout your life. And then in your retirement years, you would get social security. and that could buttress the fact that you're not getting the full salary anymore, but that hopefully you've done a few things correct in your life, but now they're trying, this is again where they trick you. It sort of sounds right. Well, I would like social security to cover mortgage. Why doesn't it do that? But it's not really supposed to do that. It's the same thing when they say people can't survive, raise a family on minimum wage.
1:10:28You're not supposed to raise a family on minimum wage. You're supposed to have a minimum wage job when you're young and getting into the workforce. and then you move on up, right? And people do actually do that. And capitalism is the only thing that allows them to do it. So Cali, Los Angeles, you can either continue with her, who is spending money to further problems that she created, or you could try the guy who burned, they burned his house down. I've had to leave my family the most I've, since I've had a wife and had kids. This is like, people are always doing this for clout. I say fun clout.
1:11:05Political clout is scary. I got to have now armed cops with me, 24-hour security on my kids. People are crazy. This is not like fun. I'm doing this like for the real, like for my heart. Like I'm risking a lot to do this. I'm not doing this like, ooh, I want to be the, no, I want to make a change. So again. You got my vote. Yeah, I'm right. Let's do it. Spencer, man, appreciate you so much. You know what? Let me ramp up the tension a little bit here to end the show today. When that election comes in November, he has to win. He has to win if Los Angeles will ever have a future. And the reason for that is because, you hear what he just said there, they say it's clown, whatever, it's not fun.
1:11:54I'd say it's not fun. It's not fun when you do anything in the public eye that then suddenly people are coming after your kids or you have to worry about your security, especially in the political climate that we live in. We're less than a year since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. There was another assassination attempt on Trump. We know that the Democrats, a certain set of Democrats, are more than okay with political violence, that lunatic Hassan and even Lenny Charlemagne, that, well, I can kind of understand why, you know, people don't like him. I can understand why people would try to shoot him.
1:12:22Like, you think he's doing this for a clout, his house burned down, his parents' house burned down. But so he's doing, He really is doing it for the right reasons. And at some point, if all the people who do it for the right reasons don't win, and enough people flee these cities, then it will just be over. Like at some point, it just becomes about numbers, that good people will just flee. I think New York is in a similar situation. At some point, when Mondami squeezes the last dime out of all of the productive people and just leaves a city for people who are dependent on him. I've given it back, he's Bain.
1:13:01I've given it back to the people. Well, it doesn't work out that well, right? It had it work out for Bain. Somebody with the mask and then the lady with the... But that's where we will be at, that the cities, and I've mentioned this before, that I think what we will end up having in the country to some extent is that cities will be hyper-controlled, massive dystopian failures, and most functional people will live in more rural areas, separate themselves from all of that control and do the best they can to keep that control as far away from them as possible. So LA, this is your last chance. This is your last chance.
1:13:39New York, well look, a Phoenix can always rise from the ashes but I mean last chance, like this may take another 20 years. New York, it's a very similar situation and for some of these other places, Chicago, Detroit, et cetera, you guys have made your choices. And as I like to say, as Jerry said to George, good luck with all of that. Good luck with the postgame show coming up in 30 seconds, rubinreport.locals.com. See ya.
