14Hey everybody, I'm Dave Rubin and this is First Look. It's Monday, July 20th, 2026. We've got a packed show for you today. Manosphere influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Florida on new rape and sex trafficking charges from the UK. CNN's Van Jones warns that the far left socialist agenda is a regressive threat to the Democratic Party. Let's dive in. Andrew and Tristan Tate, the controversial Manosphere Influencer Brothers, were arrested by U.S. Marshals in Florida on Saturday in connection with serious rape and sex trafficking charges from the United Kingdom. The pair were taken into custody outside the James L.
58Knight Center in Miami just before Andrew was scheduled to host IBA Bare Knuckle 6, a bare knuckle boxing event. Video published by TMZ captured the dramatic scene. Andrew, wearing a purple shirt, was rushed by a U.S. marshal who slapped handcuffs on him after he stepped out of a white van. A man in a bright golden jacket tried to remove his necklace as he stood still. Andrew was then marched to the back of a black SUV. Later, Tristan, dressed in a suit, was hauled away in cuffs. When asked if he had anything to say, Tristan remained silent. The Tates, who hold both British and American citizenship, face a host of new sex crime charges overseas.
43The Crown Prosecution Service announced that Andrew, 39, was hit with seven additional counts of rape after four new victims came forward. He also faces three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan, 38, was charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The charges relate to incidents between July 2010 and August 2017.
28The UK is seeking their extradition. Malcolm McAfee, head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said the decisions followed a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims to seven. This builds on earlier UK charges from 2025, when Andrew faced 10 counts of rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain involving three women, while Tristan faced 11 similar charges related to one woman. The brothers were previously arrested in Bucharest, Romania in December 2022 on charges of rape, trafficking minors, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
16They served three months in prison, were placed on house arrest in April 2023, and left Romania for the U.S. in February 2025. Their attorney, Joe McBride, disputed the latest charges and argued the arrest should not have happened until trials in Romania and a defamation case in Florida concluded. He claimed it was like Keir Starmer's last day in office and accused the British official of persecuting the brothers. The Tates have long maintained their innocence. Andrew's ex-girlfriend, Lauren Southern, alleged in her memoir, This Is Not Real Life, that he raped her and choked her unconscious during a 2018 visit to Bucharest when she was 22.
02She claimed that after falling ill at a nightclub, Andrew threw her in a car, took her to a hotel, and assaulted her despite her clear refusals. These are extremely serious allegations involving rape, trafficking, and exploitation. The brothers built a massive online following promoting an extreme version of masculinity. But the mounting criminal charges continue to overshadow that brand. Even longtime progressive Democrat and CNN commentator Van Jones is sounding the alarm about the far left's takeover of his party. On Saturday, Jones rebuked socialist activists, warning that their positions on Hamas, policing, prisons, and immigration are regressive and threatened to drag the Democratic Party in the wrong direction.
50Jones posted on X in reference to a substack piece, yes, we want our Democratic Party to be a big tent, but we don't need party poopers, so stop pooping in the punch bowl and telling us the turds are ice cubes. He specifically called out Democratic Socialists of America activists for pushing an agenda far outside progressive ideals. Supporting Hamas is not progressive. No police, no prisons, no borders is not progressive. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is not progressive. These ideas are regressive, Jones wrote. Jones, a former Obama administration advisor, described himself as a strong Democrat, rooted in progressive policies like criminal justice reform, the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, free education, and clean air and water.
44He rejected the claim that the far left simply wants Nordic-style social democracy. If that were true, I might applaud them, he said. But what does universal health care have to do with Hamas? With abolishing all law enforcement? With erasing all borders? With treating every wealthy person as a villain? Ideas matter, and these are terrible ideas. The criticism comes as DSA-backed candidates score primary wins. In Colorado, Democratic Socialist Melat Kuros defeated 15-term representative Diana DeGette. In New York, DSA endorsed candidates Claire Valdez and Daria-Liza Avila-Chevalier won congressional primaries, while others captured state legislative nominations.
33The DSA's Workers Deserve More program calls for shifting police funding toward public services as a step toward abolishing police and prisons. It also demands abolishing ICE, ending immigration detention and deportations, legalizing migration, and granting amnesty regardless of status. On foreign policy, it seeks to end all U.S. military and economic assistance to Israel and establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Jones acknowledged the group's electoral momentum but warned, right now extremists are trying to sneak backwards proposals into our party, hoping mainstream Democrats are too frustrated with MAGA and the Democratic Party establishment to notice.
21But we see you. This is the Democratic Party's internal civil war on full display. Even a progressive like Van Jones can see that the socialist fringe is pushing ideas that reject basic law and order, national borders, and support for America's allies. The more the far left gains power, the clearer it becomes why so many Americans have rejected this radical agenda. And that's your first look this Monday. Quick recap. Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Florida on new UK rape and sex trafficking charges as more victims come forward. Van Jones warns that the far left socialist agenda supporting Hamas, abolishing police, and erasing borders is a regressive threat to the Democratic Party.
11We'll keep following all of it. I'm Dave Rubin. Thanks for starting your day with First Look. See you tomorrow.
